- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, welcome to Cheesy Popcorn, my name is Ann of R. And I'm here with my co-host, Chris Miles.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: It was the host of New On Music Row.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: which you can hear right here in a rise network, which is a great show of a country music.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anything country music, by the way.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: And you are the co-host of another show as well.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: I am.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: Can I call you dad?
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Can you come?
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, you cannot, because in my son.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's true.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: However, but my son, who are so close, is on the show.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: You still have to ask that question, though.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: You do the way.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, there we go.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: So we are here, episode.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I lost count, um, possibly 14, possibly 14.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: I believe that could.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let's call it 14.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll call it 14.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: If we're wrong, we'll correct it next week.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably won't.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, we can't.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we probably want it.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: So we want to preview first our preview last week.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: We let fate decide what movie we're going to go to see We used a little spiny feature on our apple phone there And we came up with the movie that we're going to be which is good fortune.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll talk about that coming up in a little bit
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: but what's coming out this weekend?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_02]: What's coming out tomorrow in movie theaters?
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of interesting things going on but probably the things that are most notable springsteen deliver me from nowhere which is going to be a rock-u-mentary.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: We'll call it that although I'm sure it's probably just categories as a drug as a documentary rather.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: And of course it's set to the music of Bruce Spring's scenes album Nebraska.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: So if you have not listened to Nebraska, good time to bone up on it now, especially if you're going to go see the movie.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: Not to be confused with Kansas the group right and that would be just dust in the wind right exactly But yeah, so Interesting casting here Jeremy Allen White is cast it as Bruce Springsteen, who every once in a while based on the way the camera is from the previews I've seen you get a small glimpse of springsteen, but when you're faced like directly on his face.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I don't see it In the preview in the previous yeah, who knows in the movie you never know
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I mean, we haven't had a chance to see it because it doesn't come out so tomorrow.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: So it could be good.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's the one that I'm looking forward to this week.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Also, starring Scott Stuber.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: Scott Cooper.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of scots in this movie, by the way.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: Scott Paul Walter Housing.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a scot.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's the first non-scot.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: So there we go.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm an Ellen Goldsmith vine.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely not a scot.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: And Eric Robinson as well too.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's gotten a lot of a lot of airplay.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: Show we say.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: I know for the movies that we have watched frequently.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: Although I don't, there wasn't a Springsteen preview for yesterday's.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, it wasn't.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was the first time we didn't know there was one movie that we did get the previews for that we have already.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, then we know we're going to down the road to absolutely do.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, easy there.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, all right, so Springsteen coming out in movie theaters tomorrow.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: Regretting you is the next movie on the list.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: Margaret Grant, who put her dreams on hold to raise her daughter Clara, now faces a strained relationship with her teenage daughter, especially after a tragic accident takes the life of Clara's father.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: So, interesting casting here as well.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: Again, McKenna Grace is in it.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: Dave Franco, Mason Thomas, Scott Eastwood.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: I believe he's related to Clinton.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Clinton, yes.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: Allison Williams, Clancy Brown, Willough Fitzgerald, and then Sam Morlowe, Morlowe.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: Morlowe, Morlowe, not Morlowe.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: Not like the wine, not like the wine, or Malat, some people like to call it.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: I remember seeing a preview about that.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's rated PG-13.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: Springsteen, I think, is also rated like PG-13 as well.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thanks.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then last but not least, another rated PG-13 movie, last days.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, I haven't seen that preview.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is one of those, um, it hasn't gotten a lot of, not a lot of press, not a lot of press.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's based on a true story.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: Last day's follows John Allen Chu, Chau, maybe, uh, Sky Yang is the person who plays them on a dangerous adventure across the globe to share his faith.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: with the isolated tribe of North Sentinel Island.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's why you haven't seen it because it's a fainted.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's isolated.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's a little bit.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: They did an isolated preview.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they didn't totally isolated preview.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's also a faith-based movie.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why you didn't see it in a lot of previews.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: I have a lot of faith.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I do too.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: uh... uh... so yeah that's those are the three big ones there was oh if i had legs i'd kick you that's another movie that's coming out of the movie that is totally the name of the movie lindy's dealing with uh... several challenges including her child's mysterious illness her absent husband a missing person and a uh... strained relationship with her therapist
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: a therapist.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: So those usually aren't strained.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes they can't be.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what a therapist is supposed to undo is strained.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: I have some friends there.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: So you have a strained relationship with a therapist that maybe you need a new therapist.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think that's the point.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: You get to a strange situation with your therapist and the new side to let him go.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so there you go.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: So a couple movies to check out this weekend.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think Springsteen is going to be the one that we're probably going to go review.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so I think that I like Rocky Manorries.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: I like the Almost fatty mercury.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: Eddie mercury.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Freddie mercury that Rocky Manorry was excellent.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was really good.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: So almost famous is another good one.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Eln John, the Eln John one rock awesome.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: That was really good.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: That was actually really good.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Really good.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: I know some some people who were turned off because of all the guy guy stuff with him, but I'm like, really, you don't know.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to go see a rock you memory about Eln John, and it's going to shock you.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: Really, I mean that's I mean you gotta be really dumb to go see this and not come not know what you're gonna see I think mine.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think I was seven years old the first time I said to my mom.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's Elton John gay You told your mom that oh See I'll stop you seven when I told my mom is liberachi gay, and she said gay You know what I'd see
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: She didn't know who liberal arts was.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, really?
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: She had no idea.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: She didn't speak English for one thing.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, clearly.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: And she, I don't think she ever saw a liberal arts.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: And just like.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I think she would have guessed immediately.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: He was wearing some wild flamingo type glasses or something like that.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: Hell.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and something that I saw.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it weren't flamingo.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: But they were some wild glasses.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, who would wear those?
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: Put a gay guy.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, then literally said, mom, is that on John Gay?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: And she goes, how do you know that word?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, yeah.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's caught you.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: And well, we used to work with a gentleman who was gay and obviously gay.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: And one of our coworkers just wouldn't, she's just couldn't believe it.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: She was like, no, no.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: And on and on and on for months.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: And then one day, I said, I said, he is.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, he's gay.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, but he has a wife and I said, yeah, name Mike.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: His wife's name is Mike, that might be a clue.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, yeah, I mean, like I said, if you want to see a movie about Elton John and you came out pissed off that there was References to gay stuff then why did you go?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of that's a dumb person right there.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion But what do I know anyway on too?
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: Clearly that person had no idea about Elton John
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, then he must have just come out of a cave.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what you did there.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get it.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even think you saw what you did there.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, all right.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's actually I'll save you.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: I want to Kiano Reeves on that note.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move on.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, let's move on to good fortune.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: Good fortune, which is labeled a comedy action drama.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really remember any action in it, so to speak.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's a CAD, comedy, action, drama.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's not a drawing.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's like, it's like an architect thing, a CAD drawing.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: There are CAD drawings.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're up on your technology.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the cards that almost hit each other at the beginning, that's kind of action.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, something's moving.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: That sort of eludes to action.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's like loosely based kind of stuff here.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: Are you want to go first?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so we went and saw a good fortune as our, as our, as our spin dial, a fortune.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I have a spin dial pick this, yes, picked it.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: We left it to fate and was it good fortune that we left it to that?
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I would say probably not.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: as somewhat not somewhat not so here's the thing good fortune falls victim to what I like to call it's good in the previews.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: My personal opinion.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: I was expecting a whole lot, and I got very little.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think Azizana, sorry, wrote it if I remember correctly.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: He also stars in the movie.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of the writers, I think.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Seth Rogan was a writer too.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: What Seth Rogan
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the screenwriter is totally as easy as I know.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, Seth Rouging is in the game as well too.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: Quick synopsis of the movie.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: Aziz plays a down on his luck man who basically bounces from job to job and is trying to pay bills and stuff like that.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: And he doesn't do so well.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: He sleeps in his car and lies to his family about what he's actually doing.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Um, he also, he takes, I guess this task thing that they showed in the movies actually are really a real thing.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: There's really an app out there where you can get paid sort of to do tasks for, oh, yeah, I didn't know that.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like, when I thought when we were watching the movie, I was like, people do that.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that I knew.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know that.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: So that was interesting.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, so that doesn't exist.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, that's what a disease this character does.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember the character's name off the top of my head.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, and then he ends up getting a job with Seth Rogan.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: He becomes Seth's Jeff.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: Seth was he was Argg.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's it.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: You clearly took notes.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: I did not so I see on your fortune telling telephone Yes, so anyway, and then he ends up working for Seth Rogan Seth Rogan plays like this billionaire Mongol who has this amazing pal, amazing palace.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'll call it a palace Yeah, manchin, you know, whatever He's a tech guy.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's in tech single guy like
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: And he's the one of the investors in the company that Aziz actually works for.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the the task company company.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, he's a tech guy.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: He has the Bashar pad tons of money.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: And Aziz is like, why don't I have it like this now?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: Then enter in our friend, Keanu Reeves, who plays Gabriel.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: Gabriel?
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: appropriately.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: The angel of texting and trying to write, which after I told somebody, the title of the character that Mr. Reeves played, that particular person turned on and said to me, is he going to be visiting you soon?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: That part was kind of interesting that they categorized what all the angels do.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: Which I don't know that anybody's ever done before.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I don't know if Angel is actually the angel of or Gabriel is the angel of texting and driving, but They only want to know the angel of death that has a specific right right well, I think Michael does too Michael Archangel Michael I think he's got something too.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, he's at all around Angel
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I mean the angel of death has a specific job that I know from eight years of Catholic school Oh, there you go.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: The angel of death But can you guess what his job is it's his job is job is that so you don't want him to visit ever especially funeral nursing home
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: He tends to go to those a lot.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, we went there.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: OK.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, so back on topic here, Keanu Reeves plays Gabriel, Gabriel decides after after going to an angel meeting.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: Gabriel decides that he would like to be an angel of lost souls.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: So he picks Aziz's character to do that.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: And basically, figures that Aziz is down on his luck doesn't like his life and said, well, what if I showed you that your life is actually more than what you think it is?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: So he switches roles with Seth Rogan's character and he adds all this money.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: and then of course what you think would happen happens as Jesus character falls in love with the fact that he's got all this money he can do it over the alley wants whatever the alley wants to and doesn't want to give his life up after agreeing to a trial right we're a situation ship we'll call in week yeah and then of course everything that comes from that and who's from that now here's why i say that this is one of those the previews made it look good victim kind of things right all of the best lines of the movie are in the preview
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, to best scenes, scenes and lines of the movie, the lines that I left a lot of stat were in the preview.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: So that to me, usually you get one of the other.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Usually the best scenes are in the preview or the best lines are in the preview, but you don't get both.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: And in this case, I have to agree with you.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: And that made me go really, oh, man, it was slow to get into, it took a very long time.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think longer than it needed to to develop a disease as character.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we needed half of the stuff that we saw to realize that he was done on his luck.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's kind of what took it away from me.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: Now, the funny thing is rotten tomatoes gives it a 80%
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: or if they are just, it might just be based on the fact that piano reuses in it.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's the popcorn meter.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: The popcorn meter is 80%.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, the tomato meter is 78%.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, still.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: So I'd give it higher than I would give it to you.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, yeah, the wrapping it all up.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was okay.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: It was a little over an hour and a half.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: Had it been longer.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I would have been hard.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been hard for me to be like, okay.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, even when it finally got into the plot itself and the switching and that stuff happened, I feel like that took a little too long as well, too.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I basically am just going to say this.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think everything could have been done in this movie in an hour, and I think it probably would have been hell of a lot more entertaining than that.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't feel like there was any bad acting in it.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: I also don't feel like there was a stretch for anyone to do anything, as far as acting is concerned.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, I thought Keanu did a good job as the, I thought he did, I thought he'd be played the character well.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: It was believable that he was an angel, assuming that angels are relegated to certain things.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Then I think he played the role well of an angel who doesn't want to be at the bottom, just doing stopping people from texting and driving and getting accidents, and he wanted to kind of do something more meaningful.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think he played that role well.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but I felt like I was watching Bill and Ted's Excellency Adventure.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_02]: his delivery was very much like, so Ted, what are we going to do today?
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Which if you weren't, but that's him.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: I get it, but there's, but but not in, so like in the matrix he didn't do that his delivery was a little bit different.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's a game called cyberpunk that he's a huge portion of and it's just, to me I was like I'm watching him play Bill and Ted.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember if it was Bill or Ted that he played.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was Bill.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think Bill.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: But that's what I was.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: He just everything was very slow and deliberate in the actual like in his delivery, so to speak.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I just, at times I was just like, can you just start talking, please?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that's Keanu.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think everybody we have ever seen him and he's got their kind of, it's hard to describe, it's not whiny, but he's got a certain tonality to his voice and delivery, I think.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's in every, even the matrix.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the thing with the matrix is there's so much action going on, that it doesn't talk much.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: And when he does, it's short little quick dialogue with, you know, and he's up against,
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, Lawrence Fischberg Lawrence Fischberg.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I get those two confused at a time.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: They're both great actors.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I don't know.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: I was really on the opposite side.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: But the fuck.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I thought that was a plus for me, Keanu.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: So yes, if we're going to that, Keanu was probably the star of the show.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: I just felt like I was watching him play Bill with his delivery for the lines and stuff like that.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: All in all, as far as the movie is concerned, I'm gonna only give it a five.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, that's pretty low.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, this is one of, here's what, here's the way I follow with this.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: If you ruin the movie and the previews for me, I just, yeah, it doesn't stick with me.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: And this was worse because not only do you ruin the lines, the best lines of the movie, you also ruin the best scenes of the movie, because they were all a preview.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why I'm only gonna give it a five because you know, okay, I don't know.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: I just I walked away from it.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: I was kind of like, eh, but however I will say this so it has a great ending
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason why I say that is because at the very end, everybody goes back to the normal lives, and then the mogul turns around and says, so we're gonna do this, he goes back and he fixes all of the problems that are wrong.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: In an attempt to try to help people like disease, actually make money and actually be able to live their lives, which if more people in the world who had money did that,
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: and stop keeping it for themselves that we wouldn't have half the problems we have.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I'm going to get off my soapbox for that reason alone.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that was on purpose because of how where the times are right now.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that was there.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_02]: I have a feeling like it was very politically motivated and I'm just going to say that.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: I, I don't disagree with you there.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was fun.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was somewhat funny.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: It was sort of uplifting, certainly.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, I thought Keanu was good.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: Aziz is always fun to watch.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think he just is a funny guy to watch.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: If he's reading the phone book kind of a guy, he's just funny.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a likable character that you enjoy watching.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: Seth, not so much.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think you don't like that to begin.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't care for Seth, but I don't think this was a good role for him.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've seen him in other movies where the role was okay.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think this was this fit him.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: I thought or maybe he just overplayed it for me.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: He overplayed it for sure, but he always plays like the asshole.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know, but this was, I didn't think.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't I didn't think he did a good job here.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I I'm watching the movie and all I'm thinking is This movie is a cross between one of the full life and trading place.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah totally That's all it is they took trading places the idea of trading places rich guy poor guy and the idea of one of the full life this guy might kill himself so an angel in her seeds and they put a movie together and it didn't really work and and
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Sadly, it wasn't as good as either of those movies, which are really good movies.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: On top of that, they had this weird little story going with, with, with the undertones of a woman trying to start a union again, a political kind of a thing that didn't work either.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: The writing was at best to me mediocre, not nowhere near enough funny lines.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: When you got a guy like Aziz, his, the movie he made about him and his wife, the true-life story of him and his wife, the writing in that was brilliant.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why I'm saying what I'm saying about this movie.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: I knew it was a disease, I knew he wrote it, I've seen his stand up, I've seen some of his other stuff, and I'm like, this guy, this guy's funny.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: Very talented.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I just feel like all of the funny lines you saw in the previous.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, the love story thing made no sense of being a person.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it made sense in the fact that they had to have it in order to make something of it, because that ended up being, that ended up being the reason why certain things happened and I'm not going to say anything else.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: I give it a seven.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm calling it a one night stand.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: You can watch this movie once, but you're not going back.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in my opinion.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's true.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a movie that I would say, you know, when this comes out, I got to watch it again.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely not.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: There's absolutely no reason for me to watch this movie again.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, or is there a reason to be like, hey, honey, you want to watch a movie tonight and, you know, this is one of those movies where you know, you can fall asleep too.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then show at least being retained.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: Nope, not even that.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_02]: Nope.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, I hate to say, again, I love a z's and I like Cano Reeves, not a set-rogan fan.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I told you that a long time ago, but maybe if somebody else was playing that role and play maybe underplayed it a little bit more, because for, I mean, in the movie, he gets, he gets kind of satisfied with being the other character, and I'm like, why would that happen?
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, in the end,
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: He really shouldn't remember any of that stuff.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: The ending is good that we're gonna give these people more money.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: But in reality, remember in a wonderful life, nobody remembers any of that.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, once an angel's done what you remember he goes, you go back to your life, he goes back to his life, and you don't remember each other.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that was the way to make it different than it's a wonderful life and trading place.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Different as in, not as good.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: say it was good.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so that's the end of that one.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: I say, if you want, if you just want to kill an hour and a half and have some a little bit of fun, I tell you to watch it.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: I would say, don't waste an hour and a half on this movie and go watch something else.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: And speaking of what was the best movie ever that never gave anything away in the trailer?
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: And that gave none of the best parts of the way in the trailer in New Opinium was the best movie to do that.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: Ugh.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I can answer that, but I can answer this.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: The best line in a trailer that was never in a movie and made the movie that much enjoyable for me, Major League.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: Fine.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: That ball would have been out of most ball parks.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: Name one.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yosemite.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's not in the movie.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: at all.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: But it's in the trailer.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that was, so to me, and you can't call this like the greatest movie of all time for that reason.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, but it was a great story.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great sports movie.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Bob, you.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, you, yeah, you got Sean Charlie Sheen.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: Charlie Sheen.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of there's a lot of Charlie Sheen, but they're swimming and everything.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that,
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: movie features a lot of actors who got their start because of that movie and then went on to like do some decent stuff But yeah, I don't know if I could pick like a movie of that, but that's like I think it's one that just stands out Okay, well, what do you what's yours now that I think about it there might be two, but the one for me is six cents
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how many times you saw the trailer.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: You never, okay, the essence of that movie.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I will agree with you.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: I will agree with you.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: No, it might be the one.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't think of the name of it off the top of the hip, but we're at the end of the guy's girl, or the girl's a guy.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: Will movie was that, do you remember?
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: Are the lying game?
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, both movies, we didn't know what that movie was about, even after you watched the preview.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: True.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: But both of those movies depended solely on audiences keeping the secret and boy did people do it.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Especially for six cents.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: I had lots of friends who saw six cents before I did.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: They wouldn't give me a clue about what was going on.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: That was a brilliant, that movie should have won, I think I said it before.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Should have won the Academy Award over the American Beauty movie, which I watched and I thought was a really, really bad movie.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, absolutely.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: They were against each other.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: No, I know that.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: I just I mean, that should have won six cents should have won.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: No hands down.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: No No American beauty is so much of a better movie than six cents ever would be Can only think that makes sense.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: Six cents so great is what it was right the ending.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's it
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about anything else.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's not about the actors that were in it.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's not any of that stuff.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's the way that it was written.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: And that's great.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, I'm not charmalon.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: The next movie after that wasn't so great.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's got that good movie, bad movie, good movie, bad movie thing.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: But American beauty was 10 times better.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't agree.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's I. I watched American beauty and at the end, I said, they're saying, like, would you say, no, why did I watch this?
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it's it's not a movie for everyone.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: I will totally agree with you on that, but for the time It was better than it was six cents was better than Everyone's entitled to opinion.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, you know what everyone's got them.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: So those is you know, you know, so yeah, there you go That's not what I was thinking, but I like you're like keeping it PG.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate that So back to what I was thinking about Seth Rogan.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever seen the interview?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: Still don't like him.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: I have to interview him.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: Then there's no one.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: Then we know your heart set on your thoughts about Seth Rogan.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: So see, I thought he was good in the interview.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: I also thought he was, I also thought he was good in sausage party.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: Even though he wasn't actually in it, but he wrote it and I thought sausage party was hilarious.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: However, it is extremely softmoorick for multiple reasons, but that's Seth Rogan.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe that's it.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's the softmoorick thing in him that you just don't like.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: I could be, and I think I've gone through my sophomore phase in my life, and I've moved on to more high-end high-brow, your comedy like Fraser, and your senior moments.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: My senior moments at my age.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm starting to look for stuff that's a little more cerebral.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a little more cerebral.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: I worked with a guy.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: He said, we always had great conversations and he called them something, and I can't remember what he called them.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: He had a term for conversations that we would have about a lot of different things because he didn't know that I knew about architecture and history and philosophy and stuff.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: Most people don't know that I know that stuff, but we would have these very deep conversations.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, kind of deep, but he had a different word for high something.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't think of what it was.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: So intensity?
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: High and low.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: High and low.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: High, I don't know.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, they were kind of like the phrase you're writing.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like I did.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you can watch phrase in and laugh your ass off.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: But you can miss a lot if you don't have a good basis of a lot of things, including opera and music and literature and stuff like that.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: You missed stuff.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: But you can still have fun watching Frazier, you just miss a little bit.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: What did he, I'm gonna have, that's gonna bug me to the end of my days now.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: Which at 71 could be shown?
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: No, don't say it.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna be here for a while.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Stop that kind of nonsense.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, comparative to this movie.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I said wonderful life in trading places.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I could pick two more that are as that compared to this, except that this was a, well, but a melting pot of the two together, I didn't work.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think, I don't think either one of those movies compares to this.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think this movie took major influences
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I wanted to try what they were trying to achieve and then and then try to change the ending just so that it wasn't like either one of those two movies for sure But it did it did have a real good theme a few good theme at the end and I think that was one of the things that I took away from the movie was okay, so
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: at least there are people out there and this is obvious if you're on Facebook because you see really a the at least there are people out there that are thinking about the betterment of men as a whole or women just our society as a whole as opposed to others who don't so yeah that was that and then of course then I walked when I was like oh you know what that death kind of had a feel good theme at the end
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: so to speak, especially because they were trying to get you to realize that your life is worth living and, you know, it can be momentous, depending upon, it's just about the choice you make.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: That was a theme of the movie, you know, your life isn't as bad as you think it is sometimes, and you know, this is one of my pet peasants, when people who say it is or it is, no matter whatever the situation is, what it is, what it is.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: I hate that phrase, and I was talking to my son, my younger son, who has an auto body shut down is grown by the way, be bare auto repair.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: You might want to go check it out.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Agden Avenue.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: And if you want a good place to go see movies in the Dauner's Grove area, you can always not leave a little bit.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: Which is where we saw a good fortune last time.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, something was going to happen, something we want, we want to talk to you.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you made that comment, it is what it is, and I said, no, it's not.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: It is what you make it, and I think that was a theme of this movie in a way was, oh, for sure.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: Your life is what you make it, you know, you don't have to settle for it is what it is.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can see the situation and figure out how you can make it better, or walk away from it.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to live what it is, you know, I'm standing out in the rain, it's raining, I'm getting wet, while it is what it is, no, go inside, get out of the rain.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: it is what you make it and so this movie I think was saying that's what it was saying your life isn't what it is it is what you would you make it and at the end that's you need decided to go back to making documentaries and so yeah that part that's why I said I think it's a one night sand go watch it feel good have a cigarette and then move on to another movie
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: I bet you're going to ask the follow-up question to have a cigarette, although there is a line from a movie about that particular thing.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably seven.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, no, one of my favorite movies stand by me.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: The line is, I'm going to take the shortcut around and while I'm on the other side, relaxing with my thoughts, waiting for you guys while you take it the long way, I'll be, you know, I messed it up.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll be sitting here relaxing with my thoughts and then one of the other guys goes, do you use your left hand or your right hand for that?
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so anyway now that I've ruined the feel good theme part of the show Let's talk about some let's talk about other movies that have that particular theme Are you gonna go with the two that you picked that you talked about or are there other movies that you think you can add to the whole genre
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I obviously won the full life as a classic.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be hard to find another movie that that embodies that as well.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a, you know, bombed when it came out.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: The movie bomb when it came out.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the best part of it.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's a cult classic.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: But cult classic was a great when it first came out.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: But I want to come out.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe, uh,
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: If I had to come forward, I think I'd stick with Leapier.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about Leapier before.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's got a really great ending like this, too, in a real good, feel good kind of movie.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: If I went back, I might go with, it happened one night, with Clark Gable.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really good movie, too.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: Same kind of thing.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's also an old old baseball movie called Angels in the Outfield.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's a good movie.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: They did it.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: Not as well.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Go back and find the original black and white.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: Angels in the Outfield.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really really good movie.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of got this similar kind of feel right here.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: kind of a cross between major league and and this kind of movie and uh and you'll at the end of the movie you feel really good about it.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: You feel real good about life, about the possibilities of what can happen if you don't give up.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you just believe in you that's basically the message of that movie is you can believe that you can you can you can you can want angels to help you do something or you can believe in yourself and do it.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: and that's what it is and that's I think that's a good that's a good message I think okay so runner up or is that your best of all time uh... i think we know yeah i think i think i think i'll go with angels in the alfield the original for up as feel good no that's oh wow i think that's my number one and i'll put leap year after that while you're not even going to go with it's a wonderful life okay no right no okay
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so I'm up and I'm going a little bit more modern school of rock.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's the first thing.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: Great movie only because it's no Seth Rogan.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_02]: I like that.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Jack Black underrated.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think school of rock is a highly underrated.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: I agree and and I just think the overall story that's in it and everything is just absolutely awesome Being a fellow band geek before I did play saxophone and high school and stuff like that I wasn't the marcher band so yeah, so yeah, that that you know, teacher coming in Really not a teacher
- 34:34[SPEAKER_02]: But knowing what he can do and you know uplifting the students and everything like that totally a thing So and then you know making everybody realize that you life is what you make it right and that's It's kind of the other thing kind of the ongoing thing here and then no surprise I'm picking another teacher uplifting movie dead poet society
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, and this one on the theater side of things.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: So now we're touching two bases of my high school career.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_02]: I started marching band and graduated to theater and was influenced by a few teachers actually as a matter of fact in high school about all this so not out to Robert Johnson.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: my theater theater teacher by high school and then also my English teacher James bats who unfortunately is no longer with us rest of Seoul but he was a major influence in my life in my high school career and when you know we were doing educational well I didn't make a big stand by me not stand by me you mean a stand in the liver stand in the liver with James almost James almost
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I thought you were going a different one.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: I thought you were going liver.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: Desamual Jackson route because he's in a movie.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's about to write a teacher.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: The basketball movie.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's also a song.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: Coach Carter.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, I thought you were going to go.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: If I had a pick between the two, I would pick James O'Mol's one.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: OK. San and delivered.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: That was really, really good inspiration movie.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I know we were going that way.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I have a teacher, Dosimo, who's passed away too in high school.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was my, he's a guy at the, he's a guy, I, my, a lot of my life is based on 10 seconds that he spent when we have to draft in class.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: When he told me, he kept me up to class and he said, I just want you know, I'm giving you a D. And I said, wow, I had to stay up to class for that.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, I should give you an F. And that's what makes me feel even better.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, no, I'm going to give you a D. He said, you suck at drafting.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: You're never going to do drafting.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: He said, but I don't want you to think that this D, that this grade is going to, is you, is going to define you.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: He said, you're one of the nicest students I've ever had in my class and all the years I've been teaching.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I wanted to take a moment to tell you, don't let this grade influence who you think you could be.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that has stayed with me.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: That was 1972, he told me that.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that has guided my life through my career at ABC Television, my own company working for McDonald's Corps.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that I've done, I keep going back to him saying, this isn't who you are, this great is not who you are.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: And kids don't hear that enough.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, they really don't.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I digress.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: My son took a 10 question test years ago, Andrew.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Seven, right, out of ten.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so he brings it back and it's got a big three in red circle incorrect.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: So I went to the teacher and said, When it make more sense to put seven correct and enforce the positive,
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: as opposed to the negative?
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Why do we always feel we have to point out the negative to our kids instead of the positive?
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then work on the negative.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: So reinforced the seven and you got seven, right out of ten, that's great.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's work on these three.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, there's a big, I mean, it was big, a big three, a third of the page was the three with a circle around it.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, that three in red ink.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: is going to stay with him longer than the 70 got right.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: So let's, let's change it so that you're focusing on the positive.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, this light went off in her and she was like, I never thought of it like that ago.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying, and that's what this teacher did.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: He said, here's the positive.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: You're a good kid.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're a nice kid.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: You're a great student.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: It was fun to have you in my class.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: You're getting a D because you suck a draft and you're never going to be an architect, but first he gave me all this.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: And it made the D easy to stomach.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't care.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: I was never going to do drafting.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: So I really didn't give a shit.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: But what he said, and I think he's passed away since I'm sure he has scatted with a long time ago.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: But that's like with me, stuck with me for a long time as you can tell.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, so uplifting show for this week and very go see good enough if it's something you want to do wait till it gets on on video or streaming or whatever, but you're probably only going to see it once.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: So in my opinion, and I'm my apologies to Seth Rogan.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, I respect you.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: You've done a lot of great things.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: You're your successful guy.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: You've got blessed that you that you're doing what you're doing, but just your acting is just not my company.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, that's the thing about being an actor.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: You have to understand that you're not going to appeal to everybody.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I know it's because he's Canadian, and that's really why you don't like him, but it's okay.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's mostly because he's Canadian, but it's not all.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_02]: Mostly.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: Is there like a brew called mostly Canadian?
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was clearly Canadian, but that's not brew.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's like a sparkling water.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was Canada dry.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: Canada dry.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's ginger.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: That is ginger.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, Canadian was like a sparkling water thing.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: That related to ginger from Gilligan's Island, by the way.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: And now you're going to talk about the Spice Girls Next and the Ginger Spice 2.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it's for everything's connected Chris.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's like just connect.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: Of course.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: Just like connecting the dots.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's going to do it for us.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's the show folks.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be back next week.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, reviewing the Rocky Manorie for Bruce Springstay.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: So make sure you're here for that.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for that one.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: A great episode.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's not on Nebraska, so that song will not be in the movie.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going in the USA.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, that's going to do it for this week.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: Until next week, folks, save us some popcorn.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: Some cheesy popcorn.
