Latest / Foul Territory / What the World Series win TRULY means for the Milwaukee Brewers
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: This was special for Tom Hodricourt, who is former reporter
- 0:07Speaker 1: for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a member of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: Milwaukee Press Club Hall of Fame. Tom, thanks for joining us.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And I know you were able to get a little
- 0:15Speaker 1: more action with this series to be a part of
- 0:18Speaker 1: it in terms of covering it and being around it.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So how was it to be involved?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that was extraordinary. I didn't see it coming. You know,
- 0:26Speaker 2: I was invited back to a Milwaukee. I live in
- 0:30Speaker 2: Virginia now. This is the Williamsburg, Virginia borough reporting. And
- 0:35Speaker 2: so I was invited back kind of a joint effort
- 0:37Speaker 2: between the brewers and MLB and the, and my former newspaper,
- 0:41Speaker 2: the journal Sentinel. They gave me the guest column, this tab,
- 0:45Speaker 2: which semi made me legit to get into the press box.
- 0:49Speaker 2: And yeah, you know, it was the, the atmosphere was
- 0:54Speaker 2: just extraordinary. I mean, I knew it would be the,
- 0:57Speaker 2: People have waited a long time for this. And it
- 1:00Speaker 2: was cool to see. I'm really happy for the city
- 1:03Speaker 2: of Milwaukee. You know, you can only cling on to
- 1:06Speaker 2: the 82 team for so long. And that team didn't
- 1:10Speaker 2: win when they got there. Hey, you guys, I don't
- 1:14Speaker 2: know if you guys know this. So tomorrow, Friday is
- 1:17Speaker 2: going to be the parade in downtown Wisconsin, right? For
- 1:20Speaker 2: the Brewers. Did you guys know they held a downtown
- 1:23Speaker 2: parade for the 82 team, even though they lost?
- 1:27Speaker 3: That was going to be my question to you, Tom.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Explain that because talking to some of the– because the
- 1:32Speaker 3: 82 guys were always around. And talking to some of them,
- 1:37Speaker 3: it helped them in the sense that, like, they felt
- 1:39Speaker 3: like they failed by not winning it for Milwaukee. But
- 1:43Speaker 3: because of the turnout, because of how many people showed up,
- 1:48Speaker 3: they said– it was like, wow, we did accomplish something.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And a lot of people that lose the World Series
- 1:53Speaker 3: feel that level of failure for a long time.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I wrote recently in my little guest columnist format that
- 2:02Speaker 2: you know a team loves its baseball team when they
- 2:03Speaker 2: hold a parade when they finish second. You just don't
- 2:06Speaker 2: see it very often. The players were really reticent to
- 2:10Speaker 2: do it that day. They didn't feel like celebrating. That
- 2:14Speaker 2: was a devastating World Series loss. They went back to St.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Louis with a 3-2 lead and lost games 6 and 7.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So they were crushed. Robin Yount still has never gotten
- 2:24Speaker 2: over it. Although He closed the circle by being with
- 2:27Speaker 2: the team in Tampa last night. And then they had
- 2:31Speaker 2: this raucous rally at Old County Stadium to culminate that parade.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And Robin, when prompted by some teammates, roared in on
- 2:40Speaker 2: a motorcycle and the place was up for grabs. So
- 2:43Speaker 2: they did the best they could to celebrate getting to
- 2:46Speaker 2: the World Series. But they had to wait an awful
- 2:49Speaker 2: long time to get back, much less win it. You know,
- 2:53Speaker 2: nobody wanted to put the pressure on them, but once
- 2:56Speaker 2: they got back, they really had to win it. No
- 2:59Speaker 2: offense to Tampa Bay, which has never won it either,
- 3:02Speaker 2: but the Brewers had to win it because who knows
- 3:05Speaker 2: when they might be back. It took a lot to
- 3:08Speaker 2: fall in place this year to get back. You know,
- 3:12Speaker 2: ever since they added three layers to the playoffs, man,
- 3:16Speaker 2: you got to have, you got to be good and
- 3:18Speaker 2: be lucky. I mean, they had a ball go off
- 3:20Speaker 2: the roof to help them win a game.
- 3:24Speaker 4: True. True.
- 3:24Speaker 2: That was you though.
- 3:25Speaker 5: That was you knocking it down. Don't forget. That was you.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Did you ever think you would see this? Honestly, you
- 3:31Speaker 5: were there in 82. Brewers have been, they had a
- 3:34Speaker 5: long run of not being very good. They went 82
- 3:36Speaker 5: to for a long, long time until they made the play,
- 3:39Speaker 5: even made the playoffs again.
- 3:40Speaker 2: So did you ever think you would see them win
- 3:42Speaker 2: the world series? Well, I didn't think it was absurd
- 3:46Speaker 2: because they've been picking at it now for a few years.
- 3:49Speaker 2: You know, they've been to the, um, the playoffs eight
- 3:52Speaker 2: of the eight of the last nine years, I loved some,
- 3:55Speaker 2: something that brewers announcer, Brian Anderson said on TBS, he said,
- 3:59Speaker 2: they've been an overnight success for 10 years. You know,
- 4:03Speaker 2: but there's always been this little small market team called
- 4:06Speaker 2: the Dodgers standing in their way. And last year they
- 4:10Speaker 2: got swept by the Dodgers and it, and it wasn't
- 4:12Speaker 2: very close. They scored exactly one run in each of
- 4:16Speaker 2: the four losses. That's not going to get you very far.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So when they, flipped it this year and swept the
- 4:22Speaker 2: Dodgers in return. And that was a really good Dodgers
- 4:25Speaker 2: team too. I mean, that, that was such a statement.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And once they did that, I think they were definitely
- 4:31Speaker 2: on a mission to win it all, but they went
- 4:34Speaker 2: 11 and two in the post season and except for
- 4:39Speaker 2: one or two games. So they were all very close games.
- 4:42Speaker 2: So they just found a way to do it. And
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's just, you know, I don't know if people outside
- 4:47Speaker 2: of Milwaukee understand what they just did, but, This is
- 4:51Speaker 2: a team that's fighting the good fight of doing things
- 4:54Speaker 2: the right way without a huge payroll. And Tampa Bay
- 4:58Speaker 2: was a lot like that also. They were kind of
- 5:00Speaker 2: mirror images of each other. But they won 103 games.
- 5:05Speaker 2: And so they didn't back in. The other thing is
- 5:07Speaker 2: you need to be playing good at the end. Sometimes
- 5:11Speaker 2: get there and they're a little bit out of gas.
- 5:13Speaker 2: And the Brewers might have been out of gas when
- 5:16Speaker 2: they played the Dodgers last year because They played a
- 5:19Speaker 2: very emotional series against their rivals, the Chicago Cubs, prior
- 5:24Speaker 2: to that. But this year, you know, they won their
- 5:26Speaker 2: last five games this year, regular season. So they're 16-2
- 5:31Speaker 2: in their last 18 games. That's pretty good.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Compare that 82 team to this team. Because you are
- 5:38Speaker 3: one of few that was able to see the two
- 5:41Speaker 3: different teams, but compare them and how they'll obviously be
- 5:45Speaker 3: remembered in Milwaukee, but also just how they got to
- 5:48Speaker 3: where they are in each of their prospective parts of history.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah, just a completely different style of team. You know,
- 5:58Speaker 2: that 82 team was known as Harvey's Wallbangers in honor
- 6:03Speaker 2: of their manager, Harvey King, because they hit so many
- 6:06Speaker 2: home runs. You know, Garvin Thomas and Ben Ogilvie and
- 6:09Speaker 2: Cecil Cooper, you out had a lot of home runs
- 6:11Speaker 2: that year. I mean, they just out slugged you. But
- 6:14Speaker 2: this Brewers team was last, I'm pretty sure, last in
- 6:17Speaker 2: the National League in home runs, maybe last in the
- 6:19Speaker 2: major leagues. They did hit a few homers in the
- 6:22Speaker 2: postseason at just the right time. But this was a
- 6:27Speaker 2: true team. I know that sounds corny. Everybody always says, oh,
- 6:29Speaker 2: good team. But, you know, Pat Murphy got the Brewers
- 6:34Speaker 2: to do something That's very hard to do at the
- 6:37Speaker 2: major league level. He got them to go all in
- 6:40Speaker 2: on the team concept one for all and all for
- 6:44Speaker 2: one and be happy to pick up your teammate more
- 6:48Speaker 2: than pick up yourself. You former players know how hard
- 6:53Speaker 2: that is to do, especially over 162 games. There's so
- 6:58Speaker 2: many things that can go sideways during that time, but they, they,
- 7:03Speaker 2: you know, right now there's no one on track on
- 7:05Speaker 2: that team to go to the hall of fame. Um,
- 7:08Speaker 2: well that's cause they're, they're kind of young Jackson. Sure.
- 7:10Speaker 2: He has got a good early foot in the door. Um,
- 7:13Speaker 2: Yelich has been a really good player. And one thing
- 7:16Speaker 2: I'd like to say about Yelich guys, um, I'm not
- 7:19Speaker 2: sure he's appreciated enough because he was all world in
- 7:23Speaker 2: 2018 and 2019. Then it's some injuries and COVID kind of,
- 7:29Speaker 2: you know, did some weird things. And, uh, He fell
- 7:33Speaker 2: off a little bit, and even though he had some
- 7:35Speaker 2: good years, they weren't like that. And so some people
- 7:38Speaker 2: were wondering, you know, why did they latch on to
- 7:42Speaker 2: him for so long? Well, this is why. He showed
- 7:46Speaker 2: up in 2018, and it's undeniable that they've been a
- 7:50Speaker 2: playoff team almost every year since then. They've made the
- 7:54Speaker 2: playoffs eight out of nine years and won the Central
- 7:58Speaker 2: Division the last four years in the National League. So
- 8:01Speaker 2: he's truly a winner. And a couple of weeks ago,
- 8:04Speaker 2: I think it was a brainchild of Pat Murphy. They
- 8:07Speaker 2: put that C on his chest. Very few people do
- 8:11Speaker 2: that in baseball, but that's what he meant to them.
- 8:14Speaker 2: And I think that really lifted him. You know, he
- 8:17Speaker 2: had kind of scuffled in previous postseasons, but not this year.
- 8:21Speaker 2: You know, he had a good postseason. They moved him
- 8:23Speaker 2: back up to the top three in the lineup, and
- 8:26Speaker 2: he was a contributor. And so, you know, Yelich and
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yount had a really cool moment. after that game five
- 8:34Speaker 2: victory last night. And it was kind of full circle
- 8:38Speaker 2: back around from one team leader to the next. And
- 8:43Speaker 2: it was very emotional for those two guys. I watched
- 8:46Speaker 2: that interaction and it was hard not to be touched.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Okay, Kratzy, here we are again, man. How many times
- 8:54Speaker 4: do we have to tell people to get the best
- 8:56Speaker 4: tickets in the house? Where do we got to go?
- 8:57Speaker 4: We got to go to SeatGeek. It's been worth it
- 9:00Speaker 4: so many times, so many years. The green light will
- 9:03Speaker 4: let you know when it is time to go and
- 9:06Speaker 4: the best seats available. The red will let you know
- 9:08Speaker 4: if it's not the best. Crafty, tell them how easy
- 9:10Speaker 4: it is.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Todd, I know it's easy, but I'm looking for the
- 9:14Speaker 3: deals because that's what I do. Even so much, like
- 9:17Speaker 3: we're getting such a good deal, I want you to
- 9:19Speaker 3: come across the river and we'll go to a Sixers
- 9:22Speaker 3: game together. I don't know where to sit in the stadium,
- 9:24Speaker 3: but it'll let me know that's a perfect view because
- 9:27Speaker 3: I'm not a big NBA fan. But I got to
- 9:30Speaker 3: go see the Sixers play with LeBron and the boys.
- 9:33Speaker 4: And of course, I have a code for you all.
- 9:34Speaker 4: You can use code TERRITORY10 for 10% off your next
- 9:37Speaker 4: set of tickets at SeatGeek. That's 10% of all tickets
- 9:41Speaker 4: with promo code TERRITORY10. Make sure you click the link
- 9:45Speaker 4: in the description to download the app and have the
- 9:47Speaker 4: code automatically added to your account so you can use
- 9:50Speaker 4: it later.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Tom, by the way, 2005 White Sox won 16-1 their
- 9:55Speaker 5: last 17 games.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Milwaukee was good, but not that good. Sorry.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 10:00Speaker 5: So a little you know well just just a little
- 10:02Speaker 5: little something for you i know the brewers.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Are congratulations chicago is a big market team they're supposed
- 10:07Speaker 2: to win.
- 10:07Speaker 5: No not the white socks not the white socks white
- 10:11Speaker 5: socks are small market okay.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I mean the cubs didn't win much either.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Aj I know. I'm fully aware, Scott. I'm an anti-Cubs fan,
- 10:20Speaker 5: as we all know.
- 10:21Speaker 2: But you know how hard it is to– you know
- 10:23Speaker 2: how hard– it's a really good point because it's hard
- 10:26Speaker 2: to run the table or come close to running the table.
- 10:30Speaker 2: You know what? I mean, it's hard to do that,
- 10:33Speaker 2: to just win almost every game you play in the postseason.
- 10:36Speaker 2: You know, years ago when they didn't have that many rounds,
- 10:39Speaker 2: it was a lot easier. And I'll tell you one thing,
- 10:42Speaker 2: you know, they got that number one seed and a
- 10:45Speaker 2: first-round buy in a home field advantage, don't sleep on
- 10:48Speaker 2: that advantage either. You know what?
- 10:51Speaker 5: Yeah, their home field advantage was incredible for the entire
- 10:55Speaker 5: postseason and the regular season. If you haven't been to
- 10:57Speaker 5: a game in Milwaukee, I say this all the time.
- 11:00Speaker 5: It's an amazing place to watch a game. The fans
- 11:01Speaker 5: are awesome. They're into every game. And Tampa was Milwaukee South. So, Tom,
- 11:06Speaker 5: did you feel at home? You couldn't have been surprised, right?
- 11:10Speaker 5: Because Milwaukee fans had an opportunity to see their first
- 11:12Speaker 5: World Series ever. They go up 3-0.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 5: And I was at game three and game four. I
- 11:16Speaker 5: missed game five, but there was a ton of Brewer fans.
- 11:20Speaker 5: They flew down there and they showed out and they
- 11:22Speaker 5: should be proud.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Well, let's think about what happened last night as far
- 11:25Speaker 2: as the fan side of this. Like you said, they
- 11:29Speaker 2: owned the trop. They probably had more than half of
- 11:32Speaker 2: the crowd there. And it's not like Milwaukee's next to
- 11:36Speaker 2: Tampa geographically. They had to get down there and get
- 11:39Speaker 2: tickets and planes and hotels. So they had that. But
- 11:42Speaker 2: also back home, in milwaukee at american family field they
- 11:47Speaker 2: sold it out for all three rogan sold it out
- 11:51Speaker 2: to watch on the big screen there and then also
- 11:54Speaker 2: in the deer district in downtown milwaukee outside of the
- 11:58Speaker 2: the basketball arena they had another huge gathering and so
- 12:03Speaker 2: just think of uh the fervor of their fans i
- 12:06Speaker 2: mean the fans showed up and showed out you know
- 12:09Speaker 2: and uh it shows you i mean that that that
- 12:12Speaker 2: parade tomorrow is going to be insane. And, you know,
- 12:16Speaker 2: no one's going to work tomorrow in Milwaukee. And also,
- 12:21Speaker 2: you know, remember when Team Scotland in the World Cup
- 12:24Speaker 2: drank all the beer in Boston? There can't be any
- 12:28Speaker 2: beer left in Milwaukee today. There can't be.
- 12:32Speaker 3: It's going to be a long weekend. The weekend started
- 12:34Speaker 3: last night, and it's going to continue. I think the
- 12:37Speaker 3: economy in Milwaukee might be going down with the ticket prices,
- 12:41Speaker 3: the fact that nobody's working Friday, probably not making it
- 12:43Speaker 3: in today. But I want you to talk about the
- 12:47Speaker 3: 54 years that Uke spent there, the 54 years of
- 12:51Speaker 3: never seeing this championship. And there's a lot of talk
- 12:54Speaker 3: of Uke was with them, and Uke was– that's what
- 12:58Speaker 3: the organization paints, and I saw it firsthand– that you
- 13:02Speaker 3: are a family. If you are ever once a brewer,
- 13:04Speaker 3: you're forever a brewer. But talk about Uke's impact, not
- 13:09Speaker 3: just on this team, but on the last 54 years
- 13:13Speaker 3: of this organization.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, larger than life. You can vouch for that, right?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Larger than life, but also one of the guys. He
- 13:20Speaker 2: managed to bridge a bunch of generational gaps by just
- 13:25Speaker 2: being real and being one of the guys and hanging
- 13:27Speaker 2: in the clubhouse. A former player, too. Milwaukee native. Just
- 13:32Speaker 2: absolutely legendary in Milwaukee. It was a sad day in
- 13:39Speaker 2: the whole state of Wisconsin when he passed away a
- 13:41Speaker 2: couple years ago. And sure, he would like to, the
- 13:46Speaker 2: fans would have liked to have still had him there
- 13:47Speaker 2: and have him enjoy it. But he'll forever be part
- 13:51Speaker 2: of the team. There were several broadcast tributes to him.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Jeff Levering, the Brewers announcer, when they won the pennant, said, oh,
- 13:58Speaker 2: my God, the Brewers win the pennant, like Harry Doyle
- 14:01Speaker 2: did in Major League, played by Euchre. And I think
- 14:06Speaker 2: a Fox broadcast, Joe Davis, I think he said something
- 14:09Speaker 2: to it. Like when a guy hit a home run,
- 14:11Speaker 2: Euchre's called, get up, get up, get out of here, gone. So,
- 14:14Speaker 2: I mean, he cast a huge shadow in really all
- 14:19Speaker 2: of baseball. I mean, Johnny Carson dubbed him Mr. Baseball,
- 14:23Speaker 2: and it couldn't have ever been a better moniker than
- 14:26Speaker 2: that because he was Mr. Baseball. So beloved. You know,
- 14:30Speaker 2: and for years, that's all they had going for him
- 14:32Speaker 2: in the 80s and 90s. I covered him. Duke would
- 14:34Speaker 2: get off the bus and he would be mobbed. But
- 14:36Speaker 2: then when the players got off, the fans went away.
- 14:39Speaker 2: But now, different now. They've been good for a while now.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Like I said, they've been picking around the edges of
- 14:45Speaker 2: this for a while. And they finally broke all the
- 14:48Speaker 2: way through. But he'll always be revered. And, you know,
- 14:52Speaker 2: Bud Seelig, I'm happy he's still here. around to experience
- 14:56Speaker 2: this because he's the same age as you because they
- 14:58Speaker 2: were both born in 1934 and I talked to Bud
- 15:02Speaker 2: the other day we still talk pretty regularly on the
- 15:05Speaker 2: phone you know obviously got to know him very well
- 15:08Speaker 2: in my time there and he's he's just floating right
- 15:12Speaker 2: now I mean he he's had a real hard time
- 15:15Speaker 2: even grasping this it's been so long and you know
- 15:18Speaker 2: he's the guy that brought the Brewers to Milwaukee and
- 15:20Speaker 2: kept them in Milwaukee by getting a new stadium built
- 15:24Speaker 2: so And Mark Atanasio, he had a lot of right
- 15:28Speaker 2: chords in the celebration last night for both Euchre and Selig.
- 15:32Speaker 2: He mentioned them both. Mark is really good at knowing
- 15:38Speaker 2: what's important to that franchise. And so, you know, they
- 15:42Speaker 2: invoked Euchre's name. They invoked Bud Selig's name. And so. Yeah, it's,
- 15:48Speaker 2: you know, they're setting ridiculous records on merchandise sales, too.
- 15:55Speaker 2: The lines to get in the merch stores during Games
- 15:59Speaker 2: 1 and 2 are ridiculously long. And they literally can't
- 16:03Speaker 2: print shirts and stuff fast enough. Just everybody wants one
- 16:08Speaker 2: or two or three or four.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and that is what you see when a city
- 16:14Speaker 1: gets their first World Series title.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:16Speaker 1: That's what I want to finish on here is how
- 16:19Speaker 1: different it is. And sure, you hope that Milwaukee ends
- 16:23Speaker 1: up in a spot like this again. But this is
- 16:25Speaker 1: the ultimate starving the market situation. And we've seen this
- 16:28Speaker 1: a lot, actually, lately in baseball.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen the we've seen AJ's White Sox.
- 16:33Speaker 1: We've seen the Cubs. We've seen the Red Sox. You know,
- 16:36Speaker 1: all of these in the 21st century becoming a big thing.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And this is Milwaukee's turn.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Right. How much does that have to do with it? Well,
- 16:45Speaker 2: I mean, it's huge. You know, Cleveland's, you know, another
- 16:48Speaker 2: small market team and small payroll team that's been really good.
- 16:51Speaker 2: And so, yeah, I just think just the David and
- 16:55Speaker 2: Goliath story that you don't expect teams that, you know,
- 16:58Speaker 2: the Brewers actually had the highest payroll in the World Series.
- 17:02Speaker 2: And I kidded Mark Antanasio. I said, Mark, the Razor
- 17:06Speaker 2: over there is saying, how can we compete with these
- 17:08Speaker 2: big bucks Brewers? And he looked at me and said, Tom, Tom,
- 17:11Speaker 2: they're not saying that.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That's good hey you're right though that's that is a
- 17:19Speaker 1: fact right the rays and actually the guardians in the
- 17:22Speaker 1: final four the brewers were second in payroll now all
- 17:25Speaker 1: of them are pretty much bunched up compared to the
- 17:28Speaker 1: dodgers but it was pretty wild to see three of
- 17:30Speaker 1: the four teams that that weren't spending much and also
- 17:32Speaker 1: some you know milwaukee's obviously the smallest market in baseball
- 17:36Speaker 1: they capitalize like.
- 17:37Speaker 2: That but and to add to that point scott the
- 17:41Speaker 2: uh You need every now and then to reward teams
- 17:45Speaker 2: for doing things right. They've done everything right. And then
- 17:51Speaker 2: Tampa also has, and Cleveland to a little bit of
- 17:54Speaker 2: a lesser extent. You have to do things right when
- 17:58Speaker 2: you can't just throw money to the wind. And these
- 18:01Speaker 2: guys make tough decisions with payroll and players, and they
- 18:05Speaker 2: look and scour and scout teams. Brewers have been way
- 18:09Speaker 2: better in the last decade in getting players out of
- 18:11Speaker 2: Latin America. But you need to reward teams for doing
- 18:16Speaker 2: it right. And they did it right. They didn't stumble
- 18:19Speaker 2: into this. They didn't pay their way into this. They
- 18:23Speaker 2: did things right from every which way. Business, sports, just
- 18:29Speaker 2: the whole operation. They did things right. And every now
- 18:32Speaker 2: and then, isn't it good to see a team rewarded
- 18:34Speaker 2: for that? No doubt.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And also, I think an underrated story that we keep
- 18:39Speaker 1: talking about is how much they have. I mean, the
- 18:41Speaker 1: amount of employees, the international scouting, the pro scouting, all
- 18:45Speaker 1: of that with both of these teams really in the
- 18:47Speaker 1: World Series, it's lapping the field in some parts, at
- 18:50Speaker 1: least the bottom feeder teams that do not believe in this.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And then even some of the bigger market teams have
- 18:56Speaker 1: smaller staffs than what the Brewers are putting out. So
- 18:58Speaker 1: I think that's a big deal, too.
- 19:01Speaker 2: And did you and did you hear that Marc Antonagio
- 19:03Speaker 2: flew five chartered planes down to Tampa with the entire organization? Everybody,
- 19:10Speaker 2: every single person from secretaries to vice presidents and their families.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And maybe that's why they had 30,000 people in the ballpark.
- 19:19Speaker 2: They were all brewers. But I mean, that's pretty extraordinary
- 19:24Speaker 2: to fly five plane loads of your front office people.
- 19:30Speaker 2: And employees all the way down the line and their families,
- 19:33Speaker 2: they were all on the field last night behind the players.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I recognized a lot of them. That's pretty daggone cool.
- 19:39Speaker 4: It is.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Hey, you own a team. You've got a lot of money.
- 19:42Speaker 1: This is the time to do all of that. And yeah,
- 19:44Speaker 1: Atanasio certainly did it right there. So props to him,
- 19:47Speaker 1: the Oregon, also to everyone for getting you back. involved
- 19:50Speaker 1: with covering this this was a really cool story so
- 19:53Speaker 1: Tom thanks for joining us thanks for sharing the experience
- 19:56Speaker 1: too and enjoy at least watching the parade because you're
- 20:00Speaker 1: back home I think right but watching the parade there
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm sure it'll be fun to.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Watch yeah I'll be admiring them from afar and I
- 20:07Speaker 2: appreciate you guys having me on today Really cool story.
- 20:11Speaker 2: And just to stick a little pinky back into the
- 20:13Speaker 2: water was cool for me. Yeah, exactly.
- 20:17Speaker 1: It was cool to see you there.
- 20:18Speaker 2: So thanks, Tom.
- 20:19Speaker 5: Appreciate you.
