- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkgirl Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
- 0:19Speaker 1: your weekly.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Reminder that it's a new day.
- 0:21Speaker 1: A new week, a new mindset, and another day for
- 0:24Speaker 1: you to become the Hawkgirl Energy you want to attract.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday, Welcome back to another episode. I apologize for
- 0:32Speaker 1: not posting an episode last week. If you saw my
- 0:34Speaker 1: Instagram story, I talked about how my microphone was causing
- 0:40Speaker 1: some issues for the past few episodes. I've had a
- 0:43Speaker 1: few comments on Spotify just saying that my microphone was
- 0:47Speaker 1: either too high or too low and everyone was having
- 0:50Speaker 1: issues with the volume.
- 0:52Speaker 2: So I apologize for that.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm not really up to date on the Spotify comments,
- 0:57Speaker 1: like I probably checked maybe once a month. I don't
- 0:59Speaker 1: check weekly, and maybe I should be checking weekly, because
- 1:03Speaker 1: that is one hundred percent my fault for not noticing
- 1:06Speaker 1: and seeing the feedback about how the episodes were not
- 1:09Speaker 1: sounding right and we're just kind of sounding too loud
- 1:13Speaker 1: or too quiet for some people. So it's just kind
- 1:15Speaker 1: of funny how literally there were some people that were saying,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you're yelling, and then there's other people that were saying
- 1:20Speaker 1: you're too quiet.
- 1:20Speaker 2: You need to turn it up.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So I'm hoping this new microphone that I'm currently using
- 1:25Speaker 1: now is working well. Please comment down below if you
- 1:29Speaker 1: think it sounds okay. I spent a lot of money
- 1:32Speaker 1: on this microphone. Okay, I decided to invest in a
- 1:36Speaker 1: really good one because obviously this is my job. So
- 1:38Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, We're just gonna put the
- 1:41Speaker 1: visa down and just close my eyes and just check
- 1:43Speaker 1: out because she was quite expensive. But I'm hoping this
- 1:47Speaker 1: sounds a lot better for you guys. And yeah, just
- 1:50Speaker 1: let me know in the comments if you think this
- 1:51Speaker 1: sounds better throughout this episode. That way, I know going
- 1:55Speaker 1: forward that everything sounds good. So we're gonna get into
- 1:58Speaker 1: the episode shortly. I wanted to do an episode around
- 2:02Speaker 1: the Hawk Girl winter prep because I feel like we
- 2:05Speaker 1: are so close to the winter season. We're actually getting snow,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I believe early next week. Apparently it could also not
- 2:14Speaker 1: happen from the weather forecast. It's saying that it might
- 2:16Speaker 1: potentially snow next week. So I'm like, you know what,
- 2:19Speaker 1: we got to start talking about how we're going to
- 2:21Speaker 1: prep for the winter season because I personally feel like
- 2:24Speaker 1: I get the winter uglies all the time, and to
- 2:27Speaker 1: be fully transparent, I'm feeling them now.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'm feeling a little pale. You know. Obviously it's the
- 2:32Speaker 2: colder season, so I'm not really going outside as much.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I'm staying more inside the house.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm getting, you know, only twenty minute walks in instead
- 2:40Speaker 1: of an hour walk in, so everything just feels a
- 2:43Speaker 1: little different, and just obviously making adjustments to my routine
- 2:47Speaker 1: is always needed going into a new season. So I
- 2:50Speaker 1: wanted to share some things that I'm kind of doing
- 2:52Speaker 1: throughout the winter season just to feel like my hottest
- 2:56Speaker 1: self and still feel really confident in myself and just
- 2:59Speaker 1: making these non negotiable for whenever I'm feeling the winter uglies.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So before getting into that episode, I kind of wanted
- 3:05Speaker 1: to do a bit of a weekly catch up just
- 3:07Speaker 1: because it's been a long time since we chatted last.
- 3:09Speaker 1: But new microphone. We love it, we're excited about it,
- 3:13Speaker 1: we're hoping that it works. And then we also have
- 3:17Speaker 1: some Christmas decor planning here. Okay, it is the first
- 3:22Speaker 1: week of November. I am only thinking about Christmas. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: am a Christmas girl throwing through I love the holiday season.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I love decorating my house, and I always love decorating
- 3:32Speaker 1: early because a it gives inspiration for you guys, because I.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Know a lot of you guys like to see kind
- 3:37Speaker 2: of what I do to my house.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But I also like to decorate early because you only
- 3:41Speaker 1: have the Christmas decorations up for usually four weeks, and
- 3:45Speaker 1: I don't think that's enough in my opinion, so I
- 3:47Speaker 1: like to start in November. That way, get almost around
- 3:50Speaker 1: eight weeks of the decor in the house.
- 3:52Speaker 2: And I put so much work.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I'm talking like it's usually a three day thing for
- 3:56Speaker 1: me to decorate the entire house, like when you think
- 3:59Speaker 1: about the Christmas tree, the garland on the stairs, the
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know porch if you want to decorate your outside porch,
- 4:05Speaker 1: adding the little details to certain areas of my coffee
- 4:09Speaker 1: nook or my shelves, or whatever the case may be.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But it's so much work, and I'm sure if you
- 4:14Speaker 1: guys decorate your house or your bedroom, you get it.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It's a lot of work and I personally just would
- 4:20Speaker 1: rather have it up as long as I can, and
- 4:22Speaker 1: usually in January, by like the first week of January,
- 4:25Speaker 1: I usually like to obviously reset the house, go into
- 4:29Speaker 1: the new year with a fresh plate of the house
- 4:31Speaker 1: being you know, fully back to normal. So I'd rather
- 4:34Speaker 1: start early, decorate now, and then have it all reset
- 4:37Speaker 1: for January.
- 4:39Speaker 2: So I'm very excited.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I feel like I have a pretty good idea of
- 4:43Speaker 1: how I'm going to kind of create my theme this year.
- 4:46Speaker 1: This is also our last Christmas in this house, which
- 4:49Speaker 1: is so crazy to think about that because we've had
- 4:52Speaker 1: i think the past four Christmases here and I love
- 4:56Speaker 1: this house so much and I'm going to miss it
- 4:57Speaker 1: so much.
- 4:58Speaker 2: It truly was the most first house.
- 5:01Speaker 1: But I'm very excited for the new place, and I
- 5:03Speaker 1: think you guys are going to break out when you
- 5:06Speaker 1: see the new house. We hired interior designers to kind
- 5:10Speaker 1: of help us through the process of building with a
- 5:13Speaker 1: new builder. So I feel like hiring the interior designers
- 5:17Speaker 1: was the right move because I think they're going to
- 5:19Speaker 1: know little secrets of how to make the house just
- 5:22Speaker 1: feel more custom by knowing what the builders are, you know,
- 5:26Speaker 1: allowed to go above and beyond four if we want
- 5:28Speaker 1: to like make huge adjustments in the kitchen, if we
- 5:31Speaker 1: want to make changes to the floors, or you know,
- 5:34Speaker 1: there might be things that they have contacts for when
- 5:36Speaker 1: it comes to finding better things externally versus going through
- 5:40Speaker 1: the builders. So we've talked about going through, you know,
- 5:43Speaker 1: a different company for the countertops in the kitchen versus
- 5:46Speaker 1: going with the builder. So just kind of like sneak
- 5:49Speaker 1: peaks of that for the new house. So I don't know,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I think it was the right move. And these two
- 5:54Speaker 1: designers I've actually followed four years. They were actually my
- 5:58Speaker 1: inspiration for this house. I have followed them for a
- 6:02Speaker 1: long time. They are based in Ottawa as well, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: a lot of the furniture pieces I bought for this
- 6:05Speaker 1: house I solely bought because of their houses, like they
- 6:09Speaker 1: do such an amazing job with interior design, so I
- 6:12Speaker 1: knew if I was going to hire someone for the house,
- 6:14Speaker 1: it was going to be those two girls because they
- 6:16Speaker 1: know what they're doing and they also are super sweet.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So very excited to show new house content. A lot
- 6:23Speaker 1: of stuff will be up in the coming weeks. We
- 6:25Speaker 1: have like three appointments buked for November and then I
- 6:28Speaker 1: think we have two more booked for December, so it's
- 6:30Speaker 1: going to be very busy these next few weeks.
- 6:32Speaker 2: But I'm very excited to share the journey.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So if you guys want to see a lot of
- 6:35Speaker 1: house content that will be on Instagram and TikTok. But yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 1: so last Christmas in this house. I'm excited but also
- 6:42Speaker 1: kind of sad at the same time. But I want
- 6:44Speaker 1: to go out with a bang and still make the
- 6:46Speaker 1: house feel very cozy, very festive, and I'm excited for
- 6:51Speaker 1: you guys to see how I decorate the place.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So let's get into today's episode.
- 6:55Speaker 1: We have twelve things that we're going to talk about
- 6:57Speaker 1: that I think is essential for a win her season
- 7:00Speaker 1: prep of how we can get out of the winter
- 7:03Speaker 1: uglies and just feel our hottest self and most confident self.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So the first thing you're going to do is you're
- 7:08Speaker 1: going to create a list of weekly self care rituals.
- 7:11Speaker 1: What are things that make you feel good when you
- 7:14Speaker 1: actually put the effort in your self care routine.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So, is it exfoliating once a week.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Is it doing a deep hair mask where you're doing
- 7:21Speaker 1: like a deep condition of you know, really hydrating your hair.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Is it doing you know, face masks or eyemass. Is
- 7:28Speaker 1: it doing a weekly self tanner. It could be so
- 7:31Speaker 1: many different things, but I feel like dedicating one day
- 7:34Speaker 1: a week.
- 7:35Speaker 2: This could be like on a Sunday where you just
- 7:38Speaker 2: like do everything.
- 7:39Speaker 1: You exfoliate, you do a hair mask, you maybe leave
- 7:42Speaker 1: it in for like an hour. You can do self
- 7:44Speaker 1: tanner at the same time, maybe put on a face mask,
- 7:47Speaker 1: then get in the shower. Once you're self tanner, you
- 7:50Speaker 1: know the time runs out. Let's say it's a thirty
- 7:52Speaker 1: minute self tanner set in, or it could be an hour.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You then get in the shower, take it all off,
- 7:57Speaker 1: You're in your cozy pjs, you're watching your TV show,
- 8:00Speaker 1: you're reading a book.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Like the vibes are immaculate for a Sunday night.
- 8:04Speaker 1: So find a day once a week to kind of
- 8:07Speaker 1: just really focus on self care habits that make you
- 8:10Speaker 1: feel good going into a new week. I feel like
- 8:13Speaker 1: Sunday or a Monday night is crucial for self care
- 8:16Speaker 1: because I think it sets yourself up for a successful week.
- 8:20Speaker 1: You feel better, you have a better mindset going into
- 8:22Speaker 1: the week. You're just feeling more confident. I always say
- 8:25Speaker 1: a tan truly is my care of happiness. I'm not
- 8:29Speaker 1: even kidding, Like I feel so much more confident with
- 8:31Speaker 1: a tan. So, you know, exfoliating and doing the self
- 8:34Speaker 1: tannered routine is definitely a non negotiable for me during
- 8:37Speaker 1: the winter season. So I haven't gotten too the self
- 8:40Speaker 1: tanner yet, but I'm hoping to start that honestly in
- 8:43Speaker 1: the coming weeks because we're getting so close to it.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And then again, just I always try and do imass honestly,
- 8:49Speaker 1: like three to four times a week in the morning.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You guys probably see that in my morning routine videos
- 8:53Speaker 2: that I'm always doing. Iyemass, I love them. I just
- 8:55Speaker 2: find them so hydrating.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Brands that I personally really love are summer Fridays. They
- 9:01Speaker 1: have a really great i'mask. I also love the brand
- 9:04Speaker 1: Peter Roth. I think it is really really good Imass.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I just recently tried the Road Imass. I feel like
- 9:11Speaker 1: I haven't used it enough to give you guys, like
- 9:14Speaker 1: an honest review on it. I like them, I just honestly,
- 9:17Speaker 1: like wouldn't say that I've seen massive results out of it,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and I feel like I need to use it a
- 9:21Speaker 1: little bit more to get my honest opinion on that.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I feel like the Road Iemass would be really good
- 9:27Speaker 1: if I put them in the freezer, So I.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Think I'm gonna try that the next time because I.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Feel like the cooling will just make it feel so good,
- 9:35Speaker 1: So we'll give you an update on that.
- 9:37Speaker 2: But I have tried the road Imass.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I like them so far, but I do feel like
- 9:41Speaker 1: I need to give a better review once I've used
- 9:44Speaker 1: it for like an entire month.
- 9:45Speaker 2: So we'll keep you posted on that.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And then for a good hair mask, I really love
- 9:50Speaker 1: the brand way they have great hair mass along with
- 9:53Speaker 1: the brand Redkin.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I use Redkin's.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Shampoo and conditioner, and they have this like leven shot
- 10:00Speaker 1: hair mass that my hairdresser actually recommended, and I absolutely
- 10:04Speaker 1: love using that usually once every two weeks.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I don't do it weekly, but I find it.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Gives my hair that like glossy, shiny look, especially when
- 10:12Speaker 1: I need my hair to just like look better than
- 10:16Speaker 1: what it does.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Sometimes.
- 10:18Speaker 1: You know, sometimes my hair just feels like super dry,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and I just feel like doing a hair mass just
- 10:22Speaker 1: like makes it feel so much more hydrating and it
- 10:25Speaker 1: just gives that like glossy look, which is what I want.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Another thing I love to do usually during the winter
- 10:31Speaker 1: season is really focus on red light therapy.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I personally feel like red light therapy is a huge
- 10:37Speaker 2: game changer. It helps my skin so so much.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I feel like my skin is so dry during the
- 10:43Speaker 1: winter season, so I'm obviously using like thicker moisturizers, but
- 10:47Speaker 1: I feel like the red light therapy really just gets
- 10:49Speaker 1: my skin under control. And I know these face masks
- 10:52Speaker 1: are not cheap. I totally get it. That's not something
- 10:54Speaker 1: you can do. I so respect that, but if you can,
- 10:58Speaker 1: or something to think about from maybe Christmas gift. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: think there is some affordable brands out there that do
- 11:03Speaker 1: red light therapy, but I just think it's.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Also a great way to boost your mood.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Red light therapy is actually supposed to be a mood
- 11:10Speaker 1: booster and just help you when you're feeling down. So
- 11:13Speaker 1: it's great for your skin, it's great for aging, and
- 11:16Speaker 1: then also just great.
- 11:17Speaker 2: For your mood in general.
- 11:18Speaker 1: So I like to do this usually for ten minutes,
- 11:21Speaker 1: and I usually like to do it like twice a week.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And yeah, I've been using this space mask now for
- 11:26Speaker 1: almost two years and I just love it so much
- 11:29Speaker 1: and I do feel like it really is a huge
- 11:31Speaker 1: game changer for me. Another thing that I think is
- 11:33Speaker 1: a non negotiable is having a consistent supplement routine. There's
- 11:38Speaker 1: something about supplements that I feel like makes me just
- 11:41Speaker 1: feel really good because I know I'm doing something good
- 11:44Speaker 1: for myself. So I feel like when you have a
- 11:47Speaker 1: consistent routine of doing it in the morning and doing
- 11:49Speaker 1: it in the night, you feel like you have your
- 11:51Speaker 1: shit together. Like I don't know how to explain it,
- 11:52Speaker 1: but you just feel like you're focusing on yourself, you're
- 11:54Speaker 1: working on yourself, and you're doing something good for yourself.
- 11:57Speaker 1: So certain supplements I've been taking in the wing is colostrum.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I also have been taking a prebiotic probiotic, which is
- 12:04Speaker 1: a drink that I usually have in the morning before
- 12:07Speaker 1: I eat my breakfast, So that's kind of the supplements
- 12:09Speaker 1: I've been taking. I've also recently added brazil nuts to
- 12:13Speaker 1: my routine because I'm going to talk about this in
- 12:16Speaker 1: another episode maybe next week, to be honest about my
- 12:19Speaker 1: prepping for pregnancy journey. If you guys didn't know, I
- 12:23Speaker 1: feel like that's just such a funny thing to talk.
- 12:25Speaker 2: About here in the podcast. But Zach and I are
- 12:27Speaker 2: not actively trying right now.
- 12:29Speaker 1: We're absolutely not actively trying, but we are thinking about
- 12:32Speaker 1: trying within the next year. And so I want to
- 12:35Speaker 1: mentally and physically become my healthiest self, and so I've
- 12:39Speaker 1: done a lot of research a lot, a lot of
- 12:41Speaker 1: research on the whole journey of just you know, prepping
- 12:44Speaker 1: for pregnancy. Things that I can do for my health
- 12:46Speaker 1: and my body when it comes to like certain workouts,
- 12:50Speaker 1: you know, making sure my menstrual.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Cycles under control. I'm reading books.
- 12:54Speaker 1: That I have to do a lot with nutrition and
- 12:56Speaker 1: lifestyle when it comes to preconception. All that so very
- 13:00Speaker 1: much another episode that I can do if you guys
- 13:03Speaker 1: are interested in hearing my story when it comes to that.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But I've been taking specific supplements to kind of like
- 13:10Speaker 1: help me through this journey. So I feel like I've
- 13:12Speaker 1: been a lot more focused on my supplements because of that.
- 13:15Speaker 1: But I've been feeling really good because I've been making
- 13:17Speaker 1: it a priority. So I feel like if you take
- 13:20Speaker 1: certain supplements in the morning and night, I think it's
- 13:22Speaker 1: going to be a huge game changer for yourself. You're
- 13:24Speaker 1: going to feel really good knowing that taking these things
- 13:27Speaker 1: are going to be making a huge benefit in your lifestyle.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Another thing that I started taking at night recently is magnesium.
- 13:33Speaker 2: This has changed a game for me, Oh my goodness.
- 13:36Speaker 1: The brand that I'm using is the brand Pro Mix,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and my nights have just felt so much more peaceful,
- 13:43Speaker 1: like I feel like I'm actually having a really resting sleep,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Like I wake up and I feel so well rested.
- 13:49Speaker 1: My body doesn't feel a sore, which is nice because
- 13:52Speaker 1: I feel like, obviously I'm working out like five to
- 13:55Speaker 1: six times a week, and as much as I love it,
- 13:56Speaker 1: my body kind of tells me that you're overdoing it,
- 14:00Speaker 1: like your muscles are sore, whatever. But me taking this
- 14:03Speaker 1: magnesium every single night, I feel like my muscle haven't
- 14:06Speaker 1: been as achy. And there's just so many benefits to
- 14:09Speaker 1: taking magnesium. So if you're not, I highly recommend it
- 14:13Speaker 1: including it into your night routine.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It's literally a game changer before you go to bed.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And then I'm also taking a prenatal vitamin, which again
- 14:20Speaker 1: has to do with kind of like my pregnancy prep,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and I've been taking that at night before I go
- 14:26Speaker 1: to sleep, So that's kind of like my supplement routine
- 14:28Speaker 1: right now.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But I feel like that's.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Been a huge game changer for me, and I just
- 14:32Speaker 1: have been feeling really, really good, and I think it
- 14:35Speaker 1: has a lot to do with just like having a
- 14:37Speaker 1: consistent supplement routine in the morning and night. Another thing
- 14:40Speaker 1: that I really enjoy, specifically in the winter season is.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Heated workout classes.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I feel like doing a heated workout class and the
- 14:47Speaker 1: winter hits so much more different than doing it in
- 14:49Speaker 1: the summer. There's like hot yoga, there's hot mac classes
- 14:52Speaker 1: you could go to. The one that I specifically go
- 14:55Speaker 1: to is Oxygen, And what I love about it is
- 14:57Speaker 1: that it's an infrared sauna, so you're also getting the
- 15:01Speaker 1: benefit of that sauna heat. So it's kind of like
- 15:04Speaker 1: the best of both worlds where you're getting a good
- 15:06Speaker 1: sweating but you're also getting the infrared sauna. I also
- 15:08Speaker 1: just feel like it feels really good to walk outside
- 15:11Speaker 1: when it's kind of cold out, especially after a heated class.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You're obviously super sweaty, but I feel like that feeling
- 15:17Speaker 1: just feels so refreshing. I also feel like it just
- 15:20Speaker 1: kind of like wakes me up, Like I'm going into
- 15:22Speaker 1: my day and I'm like, Okay, whoa, I feel awake,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I feel ready to take on the day. So I
- 15:27Speaker 1: try and do that at least one to two times
- 15:29Speaker 1: a week, and I really do think it's the key
- 15:32Speaker 1: to feeling your hot at self this winter, because not
- 15:35Speaker 1: only are you getting the sauna benefits, but you're getting
- 15:37Speaker 1: a good workout, you're getting good sweat again.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's once a week. It feels really really good.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And I think in general, just in the winter, it's
- 15:45Speaker 1: so important to try and book workout classes because it's
- 15:49Speaker 1: so important to get out of the house during the
- 15:51Speaker 1: colder months. Even if you do want to hibernate and
- 15:54Speaker 1: never leave your house, that's so me Like, I never
- 15:57Speaker 1: want to leave the house. I love being in the
- 15:59Speaker 1: comfort of my own home when.
- 16:00Speaker 2: It's super cold out.
- 16:01Speaker 1: But building a consistent workout schedule and pushing yourself to
- 16:05Speaker 1: get out of the house is so so important, and
- 16:08Speaker 1: you feel really good when you do. It just feels
- 16:10Speaker 1: like a mini win, like a mini accomplishment for you,
- 16:12Speaker 1: pushing yourself to get out, get a workout in, come
- 16:15Speaker 1: back home, and yeah again, it's just like a little
- 16:18Speaker 1: win that you can go into the day knowing that you,
- 16:21Speaker 1: you know, push yourself to get a good workout in.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So having a consistent workout routine is also key throughout
- 16:27Speaker 1: the winter season.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Another thing that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I find is a non negotiable is finding winter clothes
- 16:32Speaker 1: that make you feel chic. So I'm gonna be honest,
- 16:35Speaker 1: a winter coat. It's never that cute like some are cute,
- 16:39Speaker 1: some are not. I have a winter coat that is cute,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but I need the long winter coats because it's so
- 16:46Speaker 1: cold where I live that it's just a non negotiable,
- 16:49Speaker 1: Like I need to have the long Ritzia super puff
- 16:53Speaker 1: when I'm walking Freddy. But then I also have like
- 16:55Speaker 1: my chic cute winter puffers that are like the short ones. Again,
- 16:59Speaker 1: I get all my puffers from Aritzia. I love their
- 17:02Speaker 1: winter jackets so much. They're a pretty affordable price point
- 17:05Speaker 1: as well, but they have a lot of fun colors,
- 17:08Speaker 1: a lot of cute different styles.
- 17:10Speaker 2: But I feel like when I can dress.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Up in that like cute winter jacket going outside with
- 17:15Speaker 1: my cute winter boots, like I feel more put together.
- 17:19Speaker 1: And I feel like winter fashion is just something that's
- 17:21Speaker 1: really hard to style.
- 17:23Speaker 2: It's not exactly the most beautiful, you know, fashion that
- 17:28Speaker 2: I've ever seen. Like fall fashion is impeccable.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Like it truly is amazing, but winter fashion, I feel like,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I don't know, it just isn't it. But I feel
- 17:36Speaker 1: like there's ways to make it look cute by having
- 17:38Speaker 1: more of like a fun color winter jacket, you know,
- 17:41Speaker 1: accessorizing all that which brings us into the next topic,
- 17:46Speaker 1: which is accessories. Whenever I feel like I'm not feeling
- 17:51Speaker 1: one hundred percent, like just having my winter uglies and
- 17:55Speaker 1: I'm wearing maybe a sweat set at home and I'm
- 17:57Speaker 1: just not feeling confident, I feel like when I add
- 17:59Speaker 1: accessor to my outfit, it just makes the outfit look
- 18:02Speaker 1: ten times better. So, you know, if I'm wearing a
- 18:04Speaker 1: sweat set, sometimes I'll add like gold chunky hoops, I'll
- 18:07Speaker 1: add my blue leg glasses, and then usually I'll do
- 18:11Speaker 1: a little bit of makeup, and I feel ten times
- 18:14Speaker 1: more confident, ten times more put together. It's the simplest
- 18:17Speaker 1: way of just elevating an outfit. So same thing with
- 18:20Speaker 1: the winter coats. You can elevate it by adding a
- 18:22Speaker 1: cute handbag or adding a cute, you know, pair.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Of earrings, or whatever the case may be.
- 18:26Speaker 1: So just finding ways to accessorize, I think makes you
- 18:29Speaker 1: feel more chic and it's just a great way to
- 18:31Speaker 1: kind of style your winter fits. Which also kind of
- 18:35Speaker 1: talks about my next non negotiable, which is the ten
- 18:39Speaker 1: minute get ready rule. So I spend ten minutes every
- 18:43Speaker 1: single day to put on a little bit of skincare,
- 18:45Speaker 1: a little bit of makeup because it makes me just
- 18:48Speaker 1: feel way more put together and just hotter.
- 18:50Speaker 2: In general.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I feel like using like darker bronzers, which make you
- 18:55Speaker 1: feel a bit more tanner, or you know, darker blushes
- 18:58Speaker 1: during the winter season just kind of like enhances your
- 19:02Speaker 1: features and makes you just feel a little bit more
- 19:04Speaker 1: tan a little bit more I don't know, just alive
- 19:08Speaker 1: and glowing in a sense. And I also love to
- 19:11Speaker 1: add some freckles and some lipliner, a little bit of
- 19:14Speaker 1: lip gloss, don't wear any foundation. Sometimes I'll put a
- 19:17Speaker 1: little bit of concealer on as well. But I just
- 19:20Speaker 1: think doing a ten minute glow up every single morning
- 19:25Speaker 1: just makes you feel ten times better going into your day,
- 19:27Speaker 1: boost my mood and really just encourages me to sometimes
- 19:30Speaker 1: get out of the house.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Do things, film myself whatever. Right, So I just feel like.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Spending ten minutes doing a little bit of makeup will
- 19:39Speaker 1: just make you feel so much better going into your day,
- 19:42Speaker 1: And as I said, you'll just feel ten times more
- 19:44Speaker 1: put together, more confident in yourself, And it just goes
- 19:48Speaker 1: a long way when you spend those extra ten minutes
- 19:50Speaker 1: on yourself with more of a positive mindset. Another thing
- 19:53Speaker 1: is romanticizing this season. I think I've definitely talked about
- 19:57Speaker 1: this a lot on the podcast, but I try I
- 20:00Speaker 1: vouch this so much for every single season that we enter.
- 20:03Speaker 1: But romanticizing your life is so crucial because if you
- 20:07Speaker 1: don't do this, you are going to be so down
- 20:11Speaker 1: and just like not feel your happiest self. I think
- 20:14Speaker 1: romanticizing the little things at home, like making your coffee,
- 20:17Speaker 1: for an example, is just so crucial. Turning on a
- 20:20Speaker 1: YouTube video lighting your favorite candle, maybe turning on like
- 20:24Speaker 1: some winter on Beyonce. You know how like YouTube you
- 20:27Speaker 1: can search like Christmas am Beyonce or fall on Beyonce
- 20:30Speaker 1: or Winter on Beyonce, and it like shows a cute
- 20:33Speaker 1: little image on the screen that just looks like really
- 20:35Speaker 1: festive and cute. That to me, is about romanticizing your life.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It could have just been a basic coffee, but no,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I put in the effort of putting on something on
- 20:43Speaker 1: the TV, lighting a candle, really setting the vibe of
- 20:46Speaker 1: the whole house while doing my.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Favorite thing, which is making my coffee at home.
- 20:51Speaker 1: So really, just finding ways to make your life feel
- 20:55Speaker 1: more like a movie is the key to happiness in
- 20:59Speaker 1: my opinions, So especially in the winter, if we're in
- 21:01Speaker 1: the house a lot more, it's so important to just
- 21:03Speaker 1: kind of like think about those little things that bring
- 21:05Speaker 1: you so much joy and finding ways to romanticize it.
- 21:09Speaker 2: This one is so.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Crucial in my opinion. But make sure to set weekly
- 21:15Speaker 1: social dates. So find today like once a week to
- 21:18Speaker 1: meet up with a friend and just kind of get
- 21:20Speaker 1: your social fix in. Because I am a victim to
- 21:23Speaker 1: never wanting to leave my house during the winter season
- 21:26Speaker 1: because again it's super cold out. I don't want to
- 21:28Speaker 1: go outside and heat up my car. I don't want
- 21:30Speaker 1: to have to scrape the ice off my windshield. Like
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'll think of a billion excuses as to why I
- 21:36Speaker 1: don't want to leave my house, putting on my winter boots,
- 21:38Speaker 1: my winter jacket, layering, whatever.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But I do know that when I do.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Force myself out of the house and I get my
- 21:45Speaker 1: social fix in, which is seeing a friend catching up,
- 21:48Speaker 1: just getting out of the house, maybe going to a
- 21:50Speaker 1: coffee shop just.
- 21:52Speaker 2: To you know, have an hour chat and then coming
- 21:54Speaker 2: back home.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I feel so much better when I actually force myself
- 21:58Speaker 1: to do that and just having that hour social fix
- 22:01Speaker 1: of chatting with a friend catching up. I just feel
- 22:03Speaker 1: like I go into my day with such a better
- 22:07Speaker 1: mindset and also just like my week in general, of
- 22:10Speaker 1: having that social fix just makes me feel good going
- 22:14Speaker 1: into my work week.
- 22:15Speaker 2: And yeah, so this could also just be.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Like maybe starting a book club with friends, or just
- 22:20Speaker 1: doing like a weekly catch up with your friends.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Maybe find a night each week.
- 22:24Speaker 1: That you guys could get together and do maybe a
- 22:26Speaker 1: bit of cooking together. You could like change houses and
- 22:29Speaker 1: like rotate and.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Everyone takes a turn.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Finding ways just to kind of get a weekly social
- 22:34Speaker 1: date I think is so crucial. And again, our mental
- 22:37Speaker 1: health is really low usually during the winter season because
- 22:41Speaker 1: we're not getting out as much. So finding ways to
- 22:43Speaker 1: kind of, you know, bring excitement to your week by
- 22:47Speaker 1: having a social fix and a social date with a
- 22:50Speaker 1: friend or friends in general, I think is really crucial
- 22:52Speaker 1: to your mental health during the colder months. This next
- 22:56Speaker 1: one is something that I'm trying to figure out what
- 22:58Speaker 1: to do for the winter season, but binding a new
- 23:01Speaker 1: hobby that will.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Keep you busy.
- 23:03Speaker 1: So it could be buying yourself a coloring book. I've
- 23:06Speaker 1: seen a lot of people actually talk about buying color
- 23:10Speaker 1: like adult coloring books, and they say it's so therapeutic.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Zach and I actually painted pumpkins two weeks ago for Halloween,
- 23:19Speaker 1: and it was very therapeutic, like just like not being
- 23:22Speaker 1: on my phone, spending an hour with my husband, like
- 23:24Speaker 1: painting pumpkins together. It was actually really fun. And he
- 23:27Speaker 1: actually admitted it too. He's like, he probably doesn't want
- 23:30Speaker 1: me to tell you guys this, but he was like, wait,
- 23:31Speaker 1: this is actually kind of fun, Like it was kind
- 23:33Speaker 1: of funny just to hear him say that and him
- 23:36Speaker 1: actually enjoy the painting and just how therapeutic it was.
- 23:39Speaker 1: And it just kind of feels like you're reliving things
- 23:43Speaker 1: that you did within your childhood. So I feel like
- 23:45Speaker 1: I could actually maybe look into the adult coloring book.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I've seen a few people also talk about, like the
- 23:50Speaker 1: Water Painting color Book, which is so beautiful, Like it
- 23:54Speaker 1: literally looks like things that you could put in a
- 23:56Speaker 1: frame and you could put it in your house, like
- 23:58Speaker 1: really really cute stuff. You can also nich yourself a blanket,
- 24:02Speaker 1: like get into crocheting. I've seen a lot of people
- 24:06Speaker 1: make like cute, chunky blankets with like really thick yarn.
- 24:11Speaker 2: So there's so many things that you could do.
- 24:13Speaker 1: There's so many hobbies that you can take on but
- 24:16Speaker 1: I think it's really nice to add those little things
- 24:17Speaker 1: into your routine because it allows you to like not
- 24:20Speaker 1: scroll on your phone as much and just kind of
- 24:23Speaker 1: like separate your social media life and your personal life
- 24:26Speaker 1: and not feel like you have to be on your
- 24:27Speaker 1: phone all the time. I've been trying to read my
- 24:31Speaker 1: book a lot lately. I've been trying to dedicate, you know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: forty five minutes to reading. I'll walk on my treadmill
- 24:36Speaker 1: for forty five minutes and I'll read my book at
- 24:38Speaker 1: the same time. You know, sometimes I usually work when
- 24:41Speaker 1: I'm walking on my treadmill, which is fine, Like I'll
- 24:44Speaker 1: usually edit a video.
- 24:45Speaker 2: While I'm walking.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Been trying to change that up just because I feel
- 24:48Speaker 1: like I definitely have a lot of time throughout the
- 24:51Speaker 1: day to focus on work, like editing stuff on my
- 24:54Speaker 1: phone and all that it could be done at a
- 24:56Speaker 1: later time throughout the day. So I've kind of been
- 24:58Speaker 1: focusing on read while walking on the treadmill early in
- 25:01Speaker 1: the morning.
- 25:02Speaker 2: And it's just felt really really good to kill two
- 25:04Speaker 2: birds with one stone.
- 25:05Speaker 1: And I always talk about habit stacking and how important
- 25:08Speaker 1: it is to do multiple things at once because it
- 25:10Speaker 1: makes your life easier and you can get so much
- 25:13Speaker 1: more done when you actually habit stacked. So yeah, reading
- 25:16Speaker 1: my book, walking my treadmill has been my thing. That's
- 25:18Speaker 1: not a hobby obviously, but I mean reading a book
- 25:21Speaker 1: for me is like a hobby because I never I
- 25:23Speaker 1: never do it, So me actually reading is something I'm
- 25:26Speaker 1: really proud of and something that I really try and
- 25:29Speaker 1: focus on to do daily. But yeah, getting the coloring
- 25:32Speaker 1: book might be something that I could do that would
- 25:34Speaker 1: be really fun to change it up, be therapeutic and
- 25:37Speaker 1: again kind of distance myself from mindlessly scrolling on my phone.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Okay, we have.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Two more here, but the last two are making sure you're.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Journaling and setting goals weekly.
- 25:49Speaker 1: This is so important to do because again during the
- 25:52Speaker 1: winter season, we're kind of low with our mental health,
- 25:55Speaker 1: We're not really in the best mindset.
- 25:57Speaker 2: So writing out things that you're grateful for, writing out
- 26:00Speaker 2: goals that you want to achieve throughout the week.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Again, having many goals throughout the week and achieving those
- 26:05Speaker 1: many goals just kind of brings some happiness into your
- 26:08Speaker 1: day and just kind of reminds you how proud you
- 26:11Speaker 1: should be of yourself for achieving those little things throughout
- 26:14Speaker 1: the week.
- 26:15Speaker 2: It could be small little things.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Like going to the grocery store getting all the groceries
- 26:19Speaker 1: you need. Maybe it's finishing a paper that you wanted
- 26:21Speaker 1: to finish for school. It could be, you know, things
- 26:24Speaker 1: that you wanted to catch up with for work. It
- 26:25Speaker 1: could be so many things, but just achieving those little
- 26:28Speaker 1: things brings some joy into your day. And then the
- 26:31Speaker 1: last one that I think is a non negotiable for
- 26:34Speaker 1: your hawkgirl winter prep is monthly self care appointments. This
- 26:39Speaker 1: could be a nail appointment, it could be a hair appointment.
- 26:42Speaker 1: It could be booking a spray tand it could be
- 26:44Speaker 1: going to the spa with a friend. It could be
- 26:46Speaker 1: getting a massage, it could be getting your hair done.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Like there's so many ideas of a monthly self care
- 26:52Speaker 1: appointment that you can do, but dedicating one of those
- 26:54Speaker 1: appointments once a month throughout the winter season will literally
- 26:58Speaker 1: change your mindset much. You'll feel so much better, you know,
- 27:02Speaker 1: just actually focusing and investing in yourself in something that
- 27:06Speaker 1: makes you feel good. So for me, I love getting
- 27:08Speaker 1: spray hands. That for me is a huge confidence booster.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I always feel ten times better when I have a
- 27:14Speaker 1: spray can. I always feel so so good when I
- 27:16Speaker 1: have a spray can. I also love doing monthly nail appointments.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I always get my fingers and toes done. That for
- 27:23Speaker 1: me is just a non negotiable. I feel always really
- 27:25Speaker 1: put together when I have my nails done. It could
- 27:27Speaker 1: also be just booking a spa date with your friend
- 27:30Speaker 1: going to get massages.
- 27:31Speaker 2: If you haven't gotten a massage in weeks.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Or years or months, this might be a sign for
- 27:36Speaker 1: you to do it because it's so relaxing. It feels
- 27:39Speaker 1: so good just to get all the knots out in
- 27:41Speaker 1: your neck or your back, especially if you're someone that
- 27:44Speaker 1: works from a computer or an office. Sorry, you know,
- 27:48Speaker 1: getting a deep tissue massage for your neck and back.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, you have no idea how tight those
- 27:54Speaker 1: areas get.
- 27:55Speaker 2: I'm a victim to it.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I love getting massages, and you know, sometimes when I'm
- 28:01Speaker 1: working on my phone or on my computer all the time,
- 28:03Speaker 1: I get super tight around my neck and back, and
- 28:05Speaker 1: I feel like whenever I get a massage, I feel
- 28:06Speaker 1: like a new human being.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I feel so much less tight.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I feel like my body just doesn't feel as stress
- 28:13Speaker 1: because of the massage. I just feel like it's kind
- 28:15Speaker 1: of releasing any tension or stress that your body might
- 28:18Speaker 1: be holding.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So this is your.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Sign if you haven't gotten massage, to treat yourself to one,
- 28:23Speaker 1: but just getting out of the house, treating yourself to
- 28:26Speaker 1: a pamper appointment. Like I said, it could be a
- 28:28Speaker 1: hair appointment, nail appointment, spray tand it just always feels
- 28:31Speaker 1: so so good investing in yourself and you always feel
- 28:34Speaker 1: tenttons hotter when you're actually doing these little things, and
- 28:38Speaker 1: especially during the winter season, we need to get out
- 28:41Speaker 1: of our winter ugly phase and doing these little things
- 28:44Speaker 1: that just kind of make us feel better.
- 28:45Speaker 2: About ourself is so crucial.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So those are just the twelve non negotiables that I
- 28:50Speaker 1: personally think are the key to feeling hotter this winter season.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So if you're someone like me that you know feels
- 28:56Speaker 1: the winter uglies a bit or just kind of feels down,
- 28:59Speaker 1: take these tips going into the winter season, and I
- 29:02Speaker 1: do think it would make a huge difference with your
- 29:04Speaker 1: mental health, how you're feeling, your confidence all that. So
- 29:08Speaker 1: make sure to reference this podcast episode if you really
- 29:12Speaker 1: need a mood booster. And yeah, just feeling your hottest
