- 0:43that actually work buckle up. Time is a really funny thing.
- 0:52It's like we live in a world where it is actually abundant,
- 0:56but none of us actually use it appropriately or very few of us.
- 0:59Use it appropriately, and effectively, having Asperger's
- 1:02Syndrome myself. I used to fall short of all the
- 1:03pitfalls of bad time management. Like having bad time management,
- 1:07not being able to appropriate my time, effectively not been able
- 1:10to be as productive as I need to be and just really like just
- 1:13making a mess of things, not being able to get to places on
- 1:15time and not being able to do the things that I need to do
- 1:19efficiently with the amount of Well, I wouldn't be like, oh my
- 1:21goodness, not like all the time is gone.
- 1:23Now I'm going to share with you my tips from my personal
- 1:26experiences of how I've overcome that and I think that you guys
- 1:29will definitely benefit from that.

- 1:45in some of your own tips for helping time management.
- 1:48Please do so, it's super awesome.
- 1:49I read every single Comment and I like and how every single one
- 1:52and reply to every single one as well.
- 1:53So do that and let's start our conversation.
- 1:55So I'm guessing you got on Google and typed in like, how to
- 1:58time manage appropriately or best tips for time management.
- 2:01And well, you've come to the right place because I feel like
- 2:03these tips I'm going to share with you now are so effective
- 2:06that you will definitely use every single one of them and
- 2:09your time will be more productive.
- 2:13So to me, time management has always been a big issue.
- 2:16Like, you know, if someone said to me like, hey, who's bad with
- 2:18time management, please raise your hand.
- 2:19I'll be like the guy in the room would be Come straight at first
- 2:21but be so embarrassed about it because I'm thinking to myself,
- 2:23dang, you know, I really want to be the best of time because I'm,
- 2:26you know, have a million ideas going on.
- 2:28I want to be the most productive person.
- 2:29I want to be the guy who's able to actually smash his goals and
- 2:32do all the things I want to do in life, but at the end of the
- 2:35day, time is running away from me.
- 2:36And I find myself procrastinating a lot during the
- 2:38day. So there's really got to me.
- 2:39So I decided that I would ask my girlfriend for help and so she
- 2:43helped me with my time management because people with
- 2:46Asperger's syndrome and autism have an issue with time
- 2:48management accordingly and and it becomes a real pain in the
- 2:52butt. So I have prepared seven of the
- 2:55hacks or the tips of the skills that I've developed and learn to
- 2:59use to hack a time management. And hopefully, you guys can take
- 3:01something away from this and I definitely think it will do.
- 3:06Okay. So number one is list Now list
- 3:10are, you know, I was a little kid right list but let's can be
- 3:12so, so effective. I have quite a few different
- 3:14lists going on and I use some app sometimes to do list, but I
- 3:17also have a list on paper and in books and the a You have list is
- 3:21that you write a list of all the tasks that you need to do and
- 3:24then you appropriately put the most important ones first, so
- 3:28they get done first. Now prioritizing items on a list
- 3:32is very effective because you can also put a Time duration for
- 3:35what you expect that task to take.
- 3:37So if you want to know that, you've got 10 things to do today
- 3:42and you need to get them all done before at 3:00 in the
- 3:44afternoon. So, you know, if you start at
- 3:459:00 how much time you need to do one of those tasks before you
- 3:50run out of time. To go on to the next task.
- 3:51All, you'll know you'll be behind now, this works very very
- 3:54well for me. I write out the task and then I
- 3:57actually say, how long is it going to take me?
- 3:58And I can estimate how long it's going to take.
- 4:00Because, you know, we all know how long typically a task is
- 4:02going to take if we've done it before, or if we're expecting it
- 4:05to take a certain amount of time, so do that and put a time
- 4:07stamp on it. So, you know, you're setting
- 4:09yourself to that limit of that time, then you can do way more
- 4:13effectively because, you know, you're aiming towards because
- 4:15it's like not having a goal or an endpoint to aim towards you
- 4:18won't be your fall short of that Mark every Time.
- 4:21Okay, so here's a pro tip for any tasks that are bit more
- 4:23heavy and bigger than the others, leave a little bit more
- 4:26extra time. So it gives you that leeway
- 4:28because the only bad thing could come of it, is that you finish
- 4:30the task in early and you've got a little bit of extra time for
- 4:32the other tasks. I'm finishing early, it's super
- 4:34awesome piece. Number two, is quite an obvious
- 4:38one and it's planning. Now, you know, planning, sounds
- 4:41super easy, but loads of people don't do it.
- 4:44I mean, like a lot of people don't do it, other people do
- 4:47plan, and if I'm really well, they actually plan really well.
- 4:49They even plan out there. Their food, slowly prep it all
- 4:52on a Sunday. So this is the tip on a Sunday,
- 4:55sit down and prep your entire week for the things that you
- 4:58need to do now. When you're planning out your
- 5:00week you need to just remember all the tasks that you need to
- 5:03do and any appointment and stuff that you need to go to.
- 5:05So what we do is we sit down and then we get a calendar.
- 5:08We've got a calendar in the kitchen slash living room
- 5:11upstairs and I also then sync it with my I calendar on my iPhone.
- 5:15So I guess into my MacBook and my iPad and we go through
- 5:18anything that we need to do. We put the time That happens on.
- 5:21So then what we also do then is put an alert on those things so
- 5:25that if it's on my iPhone that will alert me that there is a
- 5:29task that's coming out of tasks that spending by doing this.
- 5:32You get like an overview of your entire week.
- 5:34So you know where you're going, kind of like you hit the ground
- 5:36running, you don't just sit around not knowing what you're
- 5:38going to do. Go.
- 5:39Okay, well that's my first task. That's my second task.
- 5:41And then again you've got your list so you can write out your
- 5:43list and put your timestamp next to those.
- 5:45It's an amazing hack and I highly recommend doing it having
- 5:47a visual calendar on the wall is a A really big win, a lot of
- 5:51people kind of now or super digital and it got on their
- 5:54Tech, which is amazing. Yes, because we got on our iPads
- 5:57and iPhones and stuff like that, but if they die or you lose them
- 6:00or something happens, or a glitch or something, then you
- 6:02lose all that data. So it's always good to have a
- 6:04hard copy data, backed up on something, like a physical
- 6:08calendar, or a sheet, or a book or a list in your desk, or
- 6:12somewhere like that. Number three is setting
- 6:16reminders. Now, this one seems a bit weird.
- 6:18Like, you know, how do you manage time with saying
- 6:20reminders? And it's basically that when you
- 6:23set a reminder up, it reminds you at a time to do something.
- 6:27That's like the principal offsetting reminder, but the
- 6:29beauty of setting reminders is you can actually set up a little
- 6:32bit early to give yourself a little bit of extra time.
- 6:35Now, by, by doing this, you do two things, you you're
- 6:38remembering to put something in in putting something, but then
- 6:41you're also being able to allow yourself buffer time to allow
- 6:43yourself time for me, You're getting ready or doing something
- 6:46or whatever. Now, I have really bad
- 6:48short-term memory. This is due to the Asperger
- 6:51syndrome. I actually did a video on
- 6:53Asperger's and short-term memory and leaving the card above here,
- 6:55if you want to check that out specifically.
- 6:58But because of that, I realized that I can never remember
- 7:01things. So someone's like, hey, Dan, can
- 7:03you remember to do that thing later at that time.
- 7:05And I'm like, yeah, ok, cool, no worries.
- 7:08And then they come in and they're like, hey Dom, did you
- 7:10do that thing? And I'm like, Oh, So to avoid
- 7:14that. That ever happening again.
- 7:16Every single time I get a new task or a new thing or a
- 7:20calendar input or a day or appointment, or something that I
- 7:23need to attend our specific time.
- 7:26I always input it into my calendar.
- 7:27Now, I've synced up my Google Calendar to my iPhone, my iPad,
- 7:31my Alexa, and also my MacBook by doing that.
- 7:34I can ask any single one of those devices to input a day for
- 7:38me, you know, it's even just speaking to the same like, you
- 7:40know, hey Siri add this in or hey Alexa do this and When you
- 7:45do that, they can put those into go straight to Google Calendar.
- 7:48So definitely check that out as a way of like really upping your
- 7:53productivity using calendars but the idea that I do I always
- 7:58allow buffer time. So say I'm driving somewhere, it
- 8:00takes 40 minutes. I always leave an hour buffer
- 8:02time so it alerts me 10 minutes before the time I need to leave.
- 8:06I'm not time we need to leave. It's actually 10 and more than I
- 8:10need to because you never know about traffic and things like
- 8:11that. So, always bear that in mind
- 8:12because I used to be always cutting it short.
- 8:14So it's It just get that of the either at the time or later when
- 8:17it never works. And of course, a lot of people
- 8:19to say, I run on done time, which is basically running late,
- 8:22never on time, reminders are amazing, and they're super good
- 8:25for that. Okay, so number four is taking a
- 8:30break now, there is this thing in the Working World of
- 8:34professional Industries, where people want to just work, work
- 8:36work all the time. And they think if they work
- 8:37through lunch break, then do an awesome because some people feel
- 8:40like if they work a little lunch break, then their boss will be
- 8:43cool because we don't see you working hard or they'll be
- 8:45working hard and I'll get more done.
- 8:47And if you're working for yourself, you'll feel that, you
- 8:49know, you're smashing goals because you're not taking a
- 8:50break and you just, you know, hardcore grinding, but it's kind
- 8:55of on the contrary, there's a study that Oh, I found through
- 8:57HR morning.com that showed that ninety percent of people who
- 9:01actually take at least 30 minutes for lunch breaks are
- 9:04actually way more productive. Now the reason this is is
- 9:08because when you're engaged in something you're doing a project
- 9:10are you doing a task or you're doing something?
- 9:12Your mind is actually actively engaged in something.
- 9:15You're thinking about that one thing.
- 9:16So, your brain is constantly, think about that task.
- 9:18Now, your brain kind of gets tired and needs a little bit of
- 9:21relaxation time. So, when you give it, that 30
- 9:23minutes to eat your lunch, I'll go for a walk or have a coffee
- 9:26or Thing that really chills you out just for 30 minutes, at
- 9:29least, if you set your mind, get your brain more engaged to then
- 9:33go and attack the task. Again, it's kind of like, you
- 9:35know, if you've been running all day and you don't go to bed and
- 9:38sleep at night, how on Earth you grunts, get up and run in the
- 9:40morning. So, you know, you can't just
- 9:42keep running continuously, you'll just burn out.
- 9:44So this is what actually happens, people get tired and
- 9:47when you get tired, you get less productive and then you lose it
- 9:49and you losing time when you're thinking.
- 9:50I'm working to my lunch and I'm still not getting time.
- 9:52So remember always take a break and schedule breaks into
- 9:56anything you do. You know, if you're working by
- 9:57yourself, remember to schedule breaks because it makes you way
- 10:00more productive and you'll get more time management out of it.
- 10:03It's so efficient. Okay.
- 10:06So number five is do it now. And what this is is a lot of
- 10:10people procrastinate and they don't even know it or sit down
- 10:14and they'll say okay, you know, tomorrow I want to start this
- 10:16new project if it's making a film.
- 10:18Like, for me, it's making movies, or if it's making music
- 10:22or taking photos or doing something productive or making a
- 10:26blog post or website, something they always sit down and go,
- 10:28okay, I'm going to do that. I'm going to do, I'll sit down
- 10:30and plan it out. Then you have actually executed,
- 10:32they procrastinate all this time, not actually doing the
- 10:34task. So if you want to Do something
- 10:36go, then actually do it. Say, Okay.
- 10:38I want to make this small film, all the small video, so go out
- 10:43there and actually start filming, it plan.
- 10:45As you go, just make sure you're doing it and moving forward
- 10:48because when you start to do something your snowball into a
- 10:50productivity snowball and it'll just be awesome.
- 10:53The too many people will sit down and procrastinate and think
- 10:56about the task without actually ever doing the task.
- 10:59And I call it the tattoo syndrome because I know loads of
- 11:02people who will be like, Oh, I'm gonna, I'm gonna get this
- 11:04tattoo, and they spent hours designing.
- 11:05During this tattoo and that will draw it all out.
- 11:07And then they'll say, this is my tattoo and then the never get
- 11:10it. But with me, I was every time I
- 11:11wanted a tattoo which got, right?
- 11:13I want to tattoo you again up. We'll go out and get it.
- 11:14And that's how I am with everything.
- 11:16So you have to just get out there and do it and you'll be
- 11:19funny. So, now watching this video,
- 11:20you'll see somebody who's like drawn, how many tattoos they
- 11:22want, where they want to place my body and this person hasn't
- 11:24got a single tattoo, and it may have been years since I've been
- 11:26planning on. So yeah.
- 11:27Don't fall into the tattoo syndrome.
- 11:31Pick some number six is apps. Now I love apps.
- 11:34I use an iPad, my iPhone, and my MacBook, and my Apple watch, and
- 11:38I love every single one of these pieces of tech in the reason is
- 11:41because it gives me so much more time management and productivity
- 11:44that it's just outrageous, it's sick.
- 11:46And if you're not using these apps, and you definitely to get
- 11:48on it and get on using these apps.
- 11:50Now, the first one we'll talk about is Wunderlist and when the
- 11:53list is basically an app where you can actually add different
- 11:55people in so they can, you can all share the list and I work
- 11:57together if you're working in a project or a team, but you can
- 12:00put In a stuffy need to do tasks.
- 12:02You need to do, you can attach little pieces of information in
- 12:04it as a note section, you can put a time, restriction on.
- 12:07You can have a big winner needs to be in by an alert so alert
- 12:10you amazing. So definitely check out
- 12:12Wunderlist Evernote is a similar type of app.
- 12:14Evernote is a that will do almost the same type of thing to
- 12:19wonder list. But what you can do with
- 12:20Evernote is if you find something like in an e-mail or
- 12:23tasks that you need to do, you can then just click up and send
- 12:26that to Evernote on your phone or your iPad or whatever and it
- 12:29will set it will. Create like a minor set a
- 12:31reminder in Evernote for that task, you need to do you found
- 12:33an email or a website or whatever if you're in a meeting,
- 12:36can just open the app and just type that straight in and I'll
- 12:39do the same thing, but it's really good at organizing stuff
- 12:41and it gives you like alerts and unlike timings to do stuff.
- 12:45So, ever know, is very, very cool.
- 12:46Awesome. And in the after mentioning
- 12:48right now will be linked in the description below so definitely
- 12:51check that out. So the next up we'll talk about
- 12:52is remember the milk and it's always the first one I ever used
- 12:55and it's really, really cool. It's a very cool app.
- 12:57It allows you to time management.
- 13:00Tasks. You know, I was talking about
- 13:01earlier, where you have the tasks where you typed on what it
- 13:05is and then you see the amount of time, it's going to take,
- 13:07well, you can do this in a room with the milk, very, very
- 13:09easily, and it's so awesome. It's a very cool app, because I
- 13:12guess a lot of people don't make maybe want to use Wunderlist and
- 13:15they want to use like, remember the milk, what?
- 13:17I'm giving you all the best one so you can definitely check them
- 13:19out, just so you can use them. Okay?
- 13:21Super, super easy. The two built-in apps on an
- 13:24iPhone or an Android phone reminders.
- 13:26And calendar, you have to use these reminders are amazing.
- 13:29Because again, you can set timings you can set an alert and
- 13:32these things come up as a notification on your phone on
- 13:34vibrate. These are amazing.
- 13:36You can cross platforms for come up on your computer and your
- 13:38tablet as well. And with the calendar, the
- 13:41calendar is amazing because you can share an invite with other
- 13:43people. So you know, who's in there?
- 13:44You know how long he's going to be in there?
- 13:45You can add notes, you can add links, you can even upload PDFs
- 13:49and images to calendar. So, people have everything you
- 13:51need in a so, calendar is such an appropriate app and and it's
- 13:56only used if you're not using it to its full potential rethink it
- 13:59go check it out. Play Calendar and just like
- 14:03calendars, man. Yeah.
- 14:07Okay, so last but not least is number 7, right?
- 14:10So this one is distractions. I talked a bit earlier about
- 14:15procrastination but distractions are almost as bad now.
- 14:18Distractions are see you working in your home office and maybe
- 14:21like your kids are coming in or maybe like your partner is going
- 14:24to come in and talk to you or that you working in an office
- 14:27and like you meet next you want to goof about and I'll talk to
- 14:29you or you're trying to get a task done and like your mom and
- 14:32dad a community room and talking like hey can you do this or do
- 14:34that? There's nothing worse.
- 14:36Now they are the two Analog versions with now, in the
- 14:38digital age, we had everybody and their mother just texting or
- 14:40tweeting you saying like, hey, check out this funny meme of
- 14:43this dog, falling over or whatever and you thinking like,
- 14:45dang, I really wanna get this report done.
- 14:46And, and I want to watch this video.
- 14:48This dog doing something funny. All these things are
- 14:50distractions, and they're wasting your time.
- 14:53So what you need to do is get your device.
- 14:55What you need to do is grab the device and put, the Do Not
- 14:58Disturb function on now, if you don't have a do not disturb
- 15:00function on your device, you can also turn into airplane mode and
- 15:02it'll do something almost similar.
- 15:04So, the difference is, when it's on airplane mode, you won't able
- 15:07to get any phone calls through. But with Do Not Disturb mode,
- 15:09you can actually make a VIP list of somebody's like sick in
- 15:11hospital or your mom will see it.
- 15:13Touch you undertake important, they can get through, but nobody
- 15:15else can. This is an amazing function and
- 15:17I highly recommend checking out if you've never used it before
- 15:20because it set apart everything. So you say, okay from this time
- 15:23to this time I'm going to be doing this thing and I don't
- 15:26need to be disturbed. Now, if you're running an iPhone
- 15:29or iOS device you can actually sync up the Do Not Disturb to
- 15:32your calendar entries. So that was soon as a calendar
- 15:34entry starts of my appointment hit.
- 15:36It'll turn your Do not step mode and then you're okay for the
- 15:39rest of the day. All you have to do is check your
- 15:41phone. Click, the don't disturb thing
- 15:42and you're done. Now, do not disturb is
- 15:45incredible people distracting. You are dragging you down, and
- 15:48dragging your time management down.
- 15:49So remember, put yourself in an isolated situation.
- 15:52Tell people to leave you alone in Another Log situation.
- 15:55In a digital age, do not disturb is a must.
- 15:58If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and
- 16:00subscribe if you haven't already.
- 16:01And if this can help anybody, please share this video.
- 16:03I'll see you next time guys. Peace.
