- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm listening to Movie Meltdown because I'm John Saxon and
- 0:16Speaker 1: I like to do that.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Music this episode is rated m for misty yes that's
- 0:37Speaker 2: right this is a misty episode so it will be
- 0:39Speaker 2: laced with profanity even more than usual if you're not
- 0:42Speaker 2: comfortable with this level of profanity perhaps this isn't the
- 0:45Speaker 2: episode for you but we have many other episodes to
- 0:47Speaker 2: choose from that do not feature misty and will probably
- 0:50Speaker 2: be far less offensive okay maybe that having been said
- 0:55Speaker 2: on with the show.
- 1:06Speaker 3: It's showtime, folks.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Enjoy the show.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:42Speaker 7: Provide more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:43Speaker 2: To your stations, we have a review.
- 1:46Speaker 3: For just one moment, forget who you are.
- 1:57Speaker 8: What's up? I'm the Movie Meltdown.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I'm Brian.
- 1:59Speaker 7: I'm Misty.
- 1:59Speaker 5: And I'm Jay.
- 2:01Speaker 8: We're coming to you live via digital recording from the
- 2:03Speaker 8: Bastion of Awesomeness.
- 2:05Speaker 7: I forgot to say Winchester's here too.
- 2:07Speaker 8: Well, introduce yourself, Winchester.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Hi, I'm Winchester.
- 2:12Speaker 7: He's been smoking a lot, sorry.
- 2:14Speaker 8: Long time listeners might remember Winchester. He's made appearances here before.
- 2:18Speaker 7: He's four years old now.
- 2:21Speaker 8: He just got a bath. He's a werewolf. He's got
- 2:24Speaker 8: a pissy attitude, and that's kind of why we like Winchester.
- 2:26Speaker 7: I love him.
- 2:28Speaker 8: Does he still have his own Facebook page?
- 2:30Speaker 7: He does, but I haven't updated it lately. Well, he
- 2:32Speaker 7: hasn't updated it.
- 2:33Speaker 8: He hasn't. Let's get that straight. Winchester is his own wolf. So,
- 2:39Speaker 8: how's it going?
- 2:41Speaker 7: It's going.
- 2:42Speaker 8: What have you been up to?
- 2:44Speaker 7: Watching Top Gear.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Again?
- 2:46Speaker 7: Damn it. Have we watched anything other than Top Gear? Actually,
- 2:52Speaker 7: we watched some episodes of Forged in Fire. That's pretty exciting.
- 2:58Speaker 5: And I'm still watching Strike Back.
- 3:02Speaker 7: I've not watched that. That's about it. I tried to
- 3:06Speaker 7: watch a movie, but I forget what it was, so
- 3:08Speaker 7: that's not very helpful at this moment, I guess.
- 3:11Speaker 8: Luckily, I have watched a few things.
- 3:15Speaker 7: I did watch some things. I just remembered.
- 3:17Speaker 5: All right.
- 3:17Speaker 7: I don't remember if I talked about them already or not.
- 3:19Speaker 7: It's been so long. Did I talk about Sinister and Insidious?
- 3:25Speaker 2: No.
- 3:26Speaker 7: I watched Sinister. I watched them by myself. In the dark.
- 3:30Speaker 7: At night. Home alone. I don't know why I do this.
- 3:33Speaker 7: Because then I always end up terrified.
- 3:35Speaker 8: I do.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 7: But it made me again realize that I'm glad I
- 3:39Speaker 7: don't have an attic. But it seemed like all shady
- 3:42Speaker 7: things happen in attics.
- 3:43Speaker 8: I hang out in attics all the time.
- 3:47Speaker 7: I know exactly right. I totally interrupted what you were
- 3:50Speaker 7: going to say. I don't have that much to say
- 3:53Speaker 7: about them. Everybody kept saying that Insidious was great. I've
- 3:57Speaker 7: always heard good things about Insidious, right?
- 3:59Speaker 8: It was popular.
- 4:00Speaker 7: I didn't like it. I thought the end was so
- 4:03Speaker 7: fucking stupid. I just wanted to punch the movie in
- 4:05Speaker 7: the face. I'm like, really? This is where you're going?
- 4:08Speaker 7: This is really where you just wandered off to. It
- 4:10Speaker 7: seemed like a rip-off of that one episode of The
- 4:12Speaker 7: Twilight Zone, where the little girl wandered off into another dimension.
- 4:16Speaker 8: Most things are a rip-off of one of the episodes
- 4:18Speaker 8: of The Twilight Zone.
- 4:19Speaker 7: Well, because that show's fucking amazing, and all the good
- 4:21Speaker 7: ideas come from there.
- 4:22Speaker 8: Pretty much.
- 4:23Speaker 7: But anyways, the kid, I guess, he goes to sleep,
- 4:26Speaker 7: and in his sleep, his subconscious leaves, and he wanders off,
- 4:30Speaker 7: and then there's little things that are trying to get
- 4:31Speaker 7: in his body, like demons and whatnot.
- 4:34Speaker 8: Which I hate when that happens.
- 4:35Speaker 7: It was so fucking stupid. But I did like Sinister.
- 4:41Speaker 7: That had What's-His-Face in it.
- 4:42Speaker 8: Ah, What's-His-Face.
- 4:43Speaker 7: Ethan Hawke, I think.
- 4:45Speaker 8: Alright.
- 4:47Speaker 7: I think Ethan Hawke was in that one. Yeah, Ethan
- 4:50Speaker 7: Hawke was totally in that one. I remember now. Yep, yep.
- 4:53Speaker 7: That one was a little bit better. They move into
- 4:54Speaker 7: a house and he finds this box of like what's
- 5:01Speaker 7: before VHS? Reel to Reel.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Sort of.
- 5:05Speaker 7: 8mm?
- 5:06Speaker 8: Yeah, more like 8mm.
- 5:08Speaker 7: Anyways, it's 8mm and it's all really creepy footage of
- 5:12Speaker 7: people getting killed. I'm not sure why that didn't send
- 5:15Speaker 7: him running for the hills in the first place because
- 5:16Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure if I find a box full of
- 5:19Speaker 7: murder films in my attic.
- 5:21Speaker 8: We all have those in our house somewhere. Just some
- 5:23Speaker 8: of us hide them a little better.
- 5:25Speaker 7: This was out in the open. But there's this whole
- 5:27Speaker 7: thing and it has this whole history. Not history, more
- 5:30Speaker 7: like a mythology of some creepy ghouly guy that comes
- 5:33Speaker 7: in like... steals you or something. I don't know.
- 5:37Speaker 9: But it was really better than I made it sound,
- 5:39Speaker 9: because I liked Sinister a whole lot better than I
- 5:41Speaker 9: liked Insidious. But I've not watched the sequels to either
- 5:44Speaker 9: one of those yet, so I'm pretty geared up for that.
- 5:47Speaker 9: Although I'm a little bit more leery.
- 5:48Speaker 7: About the Insidious one, because that one kind of sucked.
- 5:52Speaker 8: Well, I saw Jack Ryan's Shadow Recruit.
- 5:56Speaker 7: On purpose?
- 5:57Speaker 8: It stars Captain Kirk.
- 5:59Speaker 7: Oh, I do like him. He's so pretty.
- 6:01Speaker 8: And I had no idea. Like, I swear I feel
- 6:03Speaker 8: like I saw that trailer a million times. Had no
- 6:05Speaker 8: idea Keira Knightley was in it.
- 6:08Speaker 7: Probably because she turned sideways.
- 6:09Speaker 8: She disappeared.
- 6:10Speaker 7: I know, right? Because she's so fucking skinny.
- 6:12Speaker 8: She is a waifu woman.
- 6:13Speaker 7: She used to eat a sandwich.
- 6:17Speaker 8: Here's my thing.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Uh-oh.
- 6:19Speaker 8: Well, I realized, like, I have a problem with it,
- 6:22Speaker 8: but I guess I shouldn't based on everything else that
- 6:25Speaker 8: gets done to movies. So, okay, Jack Ryan, he's a character.
- 6:31Speaker 8: He's a pre-established character in all these other properties and
- 6:34Speaker 8: books and then all these other movies.
- 6:36Speaker 7: I know nothing about this character.
- 6:38Speaker 8: Well, I mean, they've made five movies with him now.
- 6:41Speaker 8: With four different actors.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Or any of them as pretty as Chris Pine.
- 6:46Speaker 8: Harrison Ford in his younger days was quite a fetching man. But, no, it's...
- 6:52Speaker 8: Like how young, like pre-Star Wars? Empire. Dude, you can't
- 6:56Speaker 8: get better than Harrison Ford in Empire. Come on now.
- 6:58Speaker 8: But no, he's in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger,
- 7:02Speaker 8: so he's heading towards middle age at that point. But
- 7:05Speaker 8: then Alec Baldwin's played him. Ben Affleck has played him.
- 7:11Speaker 7: I hate Ben Affleck.
- 7:11Speaker 8: No, it was pretty young. It's Hunt for Radar Cobra,
- 7:14Speaker 8: so it's pretty young, Alec Baldwin. So I don't know.
- 7:17Speaker 8: I mean, he's all these things.
- 7:18Speaker 7: Is he the one with the hot daughter?
- 7:21Speaker 8: Which one are we talking now?
- 7:22Speaker 7: Either Ireland or Hayley, is that her name?
- 7:28Speaker 8: I don't know. I haven't kept up with my Baldwin daughters.
- 7:31Speaker 8: Sometimes they get yelled at.
- 7:32Speaker 7: I know that. Well, the really hot one's the one
- 7:35Speaker 7: who got yelled at for being a pig or whatever.
- 7:38Speaker 8: Did he, like, motivate her or something?
- 7:40Speaker 7: No, she didn't return his phone calls. Anyway. Go ahead.
- 7:45Speaker 8: Sorry.
- 7:45Speaker 7: Derailed.
- 7:50Speaker 8: So this new movie comes out, and I knew they
- 7:53Speaker 8: were kind of doing their own thing. I think it's
- 7:55Speaker 8: the first time they've ever done it that wasn't based
- 7:57Speaker 8: on one of the original Jack Ryan novels. So they're
- 8:00Speaker 8: kind of going their own way. But still, the rest
- 8:03Speaker 8: of them have sort of just jumped around, more or
- 8:06Speaker 8: less went through the timeline straight and then kind of
- 8:08Speaker 8: jumped backwards. But the first three were a progression in
- 8:12Speaker 8: time like normal. The first one was sort of prequel-y
- 8:15Speaker 8: and jumps back to him being a little younger. So okay,
- 8:17Speaker 8: this is once again a relatively young person starring as him,
- 8:21Speaker 8: so I'm assuming they're going back and doing another prequel
- 8:24Speaker 8: kind of story. Well, then in the first few minutes,
- 8:27Speaker 8: you're watching young Captain Kirk. He has a real name, right?
- 8:31Speaker 7: Chris Pine.
- 8:32Speaker 8: Young Chris Pine is watching 9-11 footage, and I'm like, wait, wait, wait, wait. What?
- 8:38Speaker 7: They just break the space-time continuum.
- 8:41Speaker 8: Well, no, they just sort of basically started over. They
- 8:45Speaker 8: rebooted Jack Bryan, and now like he's like, it's just
- 8:49Speaker 8: him now. So it's like, he's in college when 9-11 hits,
- 8:52Speaker 8: so then he decides to go get in the military,
- 8:55Speaker 8: and then he gets injured in the military, and then
- 8:57Speaker 8: he gets recruited, shadow recruited, to be the government agent,
- 9:03Speaker 8: and then Kevin Costner shows up. So, I don't know.
- 9:08Speaker 8: But the whole time, I'm just like, but why is
- 9:11Speaker 8: he Jack Ryan? If you're just gonna do a whole
- 9:15Speaker 8: new thing with him, why couldn't he be Skippy McGillicuddy,
- 9:19Speaker 8: Shadow Recruit.
- 9:20Speaker 7: I already have this established. I know.
- 9:22Speaker 8: The other half of my brain's like, duh, name recognition.
- 9:25Speaker 8: I understand, but the part of my brain that wants
- 9:28Speaker 8: to be like, but he's not the same guy. Why
- 9:30Speaker 8: bother making a movie with that name if he's not
- 9:32Speaker 8: going to be anything like the character before, following the
- 9:35Speaker 8: same storyline as the character before? I'm like, it just
- 9:39Speaker 8: made my brain hurt the whole time.
- 9:41Speaker 7: He's a different Jack Ryan, much like 007 is different people,
- 9:44Speaker 7: but it's the same.
- 9:45Speaker 8: That was my thing.
- 9:45Speaker 7: Maybe it just contained like, Jack Ryan is the new 007.
- 9:49Speaker 7: It's just different agents through time.
- 9:51Speaker 8: By the end, that's kind of what I was like, well,
- 9:54Speaker 8: I mean, every time they reboot a series, they kind
- 9:56Speaker 8: of do that. Like, I guess this is just the
- 9:58Speaker 8: first one, and from here, they're going to do it again.
- 10:00Speaker 8: going to do more and they're all going to move
- 10:02Speaker 8: forward in time and follow this new... It's kind of
- 10:05Speaker 8: like when they brought Daniel Craig in to do the
- 10:07Speaker 8: new James Bond. It's like they sort of Started over,
- 10:10Speaker 8: but yet not really. Now it really makes no sense
- 10:13Speaker 8: if you do watch them all, because it loops back
- 10:14Speaker 8: around on itself and makes no damn sense.
- 10:16Speaker 7: I have never watched a James Bond movie in its entirety.
- 10:19Speaker 8: Don't start, because then I told you we're going to
- 10:21Speaker 8: do all of them and make you watch them all.
- 10:23Speaker 7: What if we maybe watch part of one when we
- 10:25Speaker 7: were in Savannah?
- 10:26Speaker 5: I don't remember which one, though.
- 10:28Speaker 8: Was it Roger Moore?
- 10:30Speaker 7: No, it was one of the newer ones with Daniel Craig.
- 10:32Speaker 7: Was it Casino Royale?
- 10:33Speaker 5: Yeah, it was Casino Royale. Yeah, I'm sorry, but it's
- 10:38Speaker 5: forever Sean Connery for me. And then maybe a little
- 10:41Speaker 5: bit of Roger Moore. But when you get into the
- 10:43Speaker 5: Roger Moore, it gets kind of quirky.
- 10:46Speaker 7: Is that the one where the car goes underwater and
- 10:49Speaker 7: then the fish is in the car?
- 10:51Speaker 5: That's one of the ones with Roger Moore.
- 10:56Speaker 7: Again, I haven't seen it, but they made a reference
- 10:58Speaker 7: to it on Top Gear.
- 11:01Speaker 5: If you've got a car that's a submarine and it
- 11:03Speaker 5: goes underwater... And they don't get wet. How does the
- 11:06Speaker 5: fish and the water get in the car?
- 11:08Speaker 8: Transporter? Just stupid.
- 11:11Speaker 5: It was supposed to be funny.
- 11:12Speaker 7: It came through the air conditioner vents?
- 11:14Speaker 8: It's Roger Moore. By then they were very silly. Although
- 11:18Speaker 8: that's the thing. That's almost more my go-to. Only because
- 11:22Speaker 8: that's when they kind of hit for me. I think
- 11:25Speaker 8: the Connery ones weren't playing on TV all the time
- 11:28Speaker 8: when I was a kid. I saw some of them later,
- 11:30Speaker 8: but like, The ones that I watched nonstop were the
- 11:33Speaker 8: ones that constantly played on the Sunday Night Movie, and
- 11:36Speaker 8: it was always the cheesy Roger Morwen. So he's kind
- 11:39Speaker 8: of really my in on 007, so now I watch
- 11:42Speaker 8: it and I kind of expect him to all be goofy.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess Sean Connery was like my mom. My
- 11:49Speaker 5: mom was just in love with Sean Connery. Not the
- 11:51Speaker 5: old Sean Connery with the beard, but the young, young,
- 11:53Speaker 5: young Sean Connery. The one with the hairpiece? I don't
- 11:57Speaker 5: know if he had a hairpiece on.
- 11:58Speaker 8: He always looks like he had a hairpiece on. Even
- 11:59Speaker 8: when he was young, he looked like that.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the one that she liked. So that was
- 12:03Speaker 5: the one that we watched all the time. She would
- 12:04Speaker 5: always go and rent the VHS tapes with Sean Connery,
- 12:09Speaker 5: and we would sit and watch that.
- 12:10Speaker 7: Didn't your dad try to say he thought he looked
- 12:12Speaker 7: like Sean Connery?
- 12:12Speaker 5: My dad thinks he looks like Sean Connery. He looks
- 12:15Speaker 5: absolutely nothing like Sean Connery.
- 12:16Speaker 8: I've seen your daddy.
- 12:17Speaker 7: He looks more like Barney Fife.
- 12:20Speaker 5: No, he doesn't look like Barney Fife. He's kind of
- 12:22Speaker 5: a cross between Andy Griffith and.
- 12:26Speaker 5: I can't think of who.
- 12:27Speaker 7: Your dad has, like, physical resemblance?
- 12:30Speaker 5: No, just, like, general mannerisms and stuff.
- 12:32Speaker 7: I was going by physical resemblance.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Well, I don't even know physical resemblance. He looks like
- 12:36Speaker 5: some senator, because he's been.
- 12:38Speaker 7: A British senator?
- 12:39Speaker 3: No, yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 5: There's a senator that he's been mistaken for several times. Like,
- 12:45Speaker 5: a couple times when he was in D.C.
- 12:47Speaker 8: Nobody wants to be mistaken for a senator.
- 12:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 12:49Speaker 5: It's kind of weird. I don't remember who it was, though.
- 12:52Speaker 7: Not Sean Connery.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Not Sean Connery. Yeah, I wouldn't... What important enough at
- 12:57Speaker 5: the time when he was telling me because I was
- 12:59Speaker 5: probably 18 and I really could care less.
- 13:01Speaker 7: Shut up, dude.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't care.
- 13:06Speaker 8: Oh, well, I mean, that was my thing. So the
- 13:07Speaker 8: more I got into it, I was like, well, they
- 13:09Speaker 8: I mean, every time they redo a property, they kind
- 13:12Speaker 8: of redo the whole thing. And so I guess it
- 13:16Speaker 8: shouldn't bother me as much as it does, especially because
- 13:18Speaker 8: I wasn't that hardcore Jack Ryan anyway. I just I
- 13:22Speaker 8: watched the Harrison Ford wins probably more than the other
- 13:25Speaker 8: ones anyway, so I don't know. It was weird. Other
- 13:29Speaker 8: than that, if you take that out, if I didn't
- 13:31Speaker 8: care what the dude's name was, it was a decent.
- 13:33Speaker 7: Or if you had no familiarity with him whatsoever.
- 13:36Speaker 8: If you just went into it, oh, this is a
- 13:38Speaker 8: new movie. Shadow Recruit. They just called it Shadow Recruit.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Jake Ryan's so dreamy.
- 13:44Speaker 7: He is now.
- 13:46Speaker 8: But yeah, I don't know. It's just like it's... It's
- 13:49Speaker 8: a decent espionage kind of movie. It's fine and all.
- 13:52Speaker 8: It was entertaining. Yep, that was my issue.
- 13:56Speaker 7: Did you watch anything else?
- 13:57Speaker 8: I did watch The Last Days on Mars with Schreiber.
- 14:04Speaker 7: Schreiber?
- 14:04Speaker 5: Schreiber.
- 14:05Speaker 7: Cotton Weary?
- 14:06Speaker 8: Cotton Weary is how I usually refer to him. I'm
- 14:08Speaker 8: sure he appreciates that as well.
- 14:11Speaker 7: Is he still married to Naomi Watts? Weren't they married?
- 14:16Speaker 7: I just pulled that out of my ass. I might
- 14:18Speaker 7: have just pulled that out of my ass.
- 14:20Speaker 8: Looks like a job for Google. But it's one of those, like,
- 14:24Speaker 8: I remember when it, I kind of remember when it
- 14:26Speaker 8: came out. I feel like it gets mixed up with
- 14:28Speaker 8: every other, like, Mars movie. Because there were, like, for
- 14:32Speaker 8: some reason, they got on a kick of making weird
- 14:34Speaker 8: Mars movies for a while.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Yeah, they had, like, Ghost of Mars.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Red Planet.
- 14:37Speaker 8: That one's way back, but then there was like, yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 8: that was with the Val Kilmer one, wasn't it? Like,
- 14:42Speaker 8: they just kept like every.
- 14:43Speaker 7: On Ice-T or Ice Cube or.
- 14:44Speaker 8: No, that was Ghost of Mars, but no, I think
- 14:47Speaker 8: Val Kilmer was on Red Planet.
- 14:48Speaker 11: What about.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Was.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Did any of the Chronicles of Riddick have anything to
- 14:54Speaker 5: do with Mars? Or were they just had regular planets?
- 14:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:58Speaker 5: I didn't really get into those.
- 15:00Speaker 8: I tried to watch... I can't. I can't watch it anymore.
- 15:03Speaker 5: I can't.
- 15:04Speaker 7: I liked the first one, didn't I?
- 15:06Speaker 8: See, I liked the first one at the time.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Is that the quirky one where he's talking about?
- 15:11Speaker 7: No, that was the last one.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Oh, that one's horrible.
- 15:14Speaker 8: See, I could not. I sat through it because I
- 15:17Speaker 8: usually finish them when I start them. But like, man,
- 15:20Speaker 8: he just pisses me off so much now. Specifically when
- 15:23Speaker 8: he's like, well, he's always that character. He's the same
- 15:27Speaker 8: cocky bastard in all of those movies.
- 15:28Speaker 5: But like the ending of it was just so just,
- 15:32Speaker 5: I don't know. It was just.
- 15:33Speaker 7: I blocked out the ending because it was so incredibly bad.
- 15:36Speaker 5: It was incredibly bad, but just his dialogue between him
- 15:39Speaker 5: and the one chick.
- 15:40Speaker 8: Yeah, that was my problem.
- 15:41Speaker 7: His dialogue between him and everybody.
- 15:43Speaker 8: But him and the chick was nothing but date rapey.
- 15:46Speaker 6: Yeah, it was all date rapey.
- 15:47Speaker 5: It was all, you know, ha, ha, ha, sexual assault,
- 15:50Speaker 5: so funny.
- 15:51Speaker 8: I know. I was like, dude, really? He's creepy anyway,
- 15:56Speaker 8: but something about that movie. Because I don't remember it
- 15:58Speaker 8: being quite that bad. Pitch Black. I think I blocked
- 16:02Speaker 8: out if I attempted to watch Chronicles of Riddick. But
- 16:04Speaker 8: I remember being okay with Pitch Black, but also I
- 16:07Speaker 8: remember I saw it like that first time it came out,
- 16:10Speaker 8: and I had no idea who that dude was. So
- 16:13Speaker 8: I didn't have all the built-up years of like, ugh,
- 16:15Speaker 8: Vin Diesel, I hate that guy. Where now I can't
- 16:18Speaker 8: enter anything that I don't want to just.
- 16:20Speaker 7: He looks like a drunk baby.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He does.
- 16:23Speaker 8: He does.
- 16:23Speaker 5: He does look like a drunk baby.
- 16:25Speaker 7: That's a pretty good description. I hate him. You know
- 16:28Speaker 7: what Liev Schreiber's real first name is?
- 16:30Speaker 8: Isaac. Is he just trying to confuse people?
- 16:33Speaker 7: He is fucking with your shit.
- 16:34Speaker 8: So I have to be like, Liev... Liev... No, that's
- 16:41Speaker 8: not him.
- 16:42Speaker 7: And look, he is still in fact married to Naomi Wong.
- 16:45Speaker 8: He's all partners up with her.
- 16:48Speaker 7: It just says partners. I don't know if they're married.
- 16:50Speaker 7: That's a half-brother named Pablo.
- 16:53Speaker 8: We're easily amused. Anyway, Last Days on Mars. So it
- 17:01Speaker 8: was one of those, I do kind of remember watching
- 17:03Speaker 8: the trailers, but then I remembered it more as being
- 17:06Speaker 8: super artsy, intellectual kind of space movie. I thought it
- 17:10Speaker 8: was going to be a little more like.
- 17:13Speaker 12: It's no Phantoms, I'll tell you that. Dude, that was
- 17:17Speaker 12: the bombing Phantoms. But I expected it to be more of.
- 17:24Speaker 8: moon kind of thing like moon got really super like
- 17:27Speaker 8: smart and wordy and talky and like it was sort
- 17:29Speaker 8: of sort of sci-fi and art house at the same
- 17:31Speaker 8: time so i kind of thought maybe that's where this
- 17:33Speaker 8: was gonna go nope totally like i was either i
- 17:36Speaker 8: was way off or it just takes a turn really
- 17:38Speaker 8: early on and like fools you that i just wouldn't
- 17:41Speaker 8: pay attention on the trailer but yeah it's total like
- 17:44Speaker 8: old school sci-fi monster movie kind of thing like it
- 17:47Speaker 8: just becomes sort of a sci-fi action kind of movie
- 17:51Speaker 8: it's all strange it's not bad it was like it
- 17:54Speaker 8: was all right it just it was totally not like
- 17:56Speaker 8: the whole time I'm like is this really where they're
- 17:57Speaker 8: going and then like an hour later I'm like they're
- 18:00Speaker 8: still this is all they're doing all right well that's
- 18:02Speaker 8: fun I'm cool with it like it's just not what
- 18:05Speaker 8: I expected at all but you know I've never heard
- 18:08Speaker 8: of this movie leaves really good.
- 18:09Speaker 7: In it Isaac Isaac is fantastic.
- 18:11Speaker 8: Isaac is very interesting Mr. Naomi Watts he's a great
- 18:15Speaker 8: actor there's a whoever that chick is I had to
- 18:18Speaker 8: look her up on IMDb she was really good the
- 18:20Speaker 8: female lead As the movie pans out.
- 18:23Speaker 7: I already closed that page, so we're not going to
- 18:25Speaker 7: look it up again.
- 18:27Speaker 8: It was entertaining. But yeah, don't go in expecting anything
- 18:30Speaker 8: more than a sci-fi action kind of movie.
- 18:33Speaker 7: Anything else did you watch?
- 18:35Speaker 8: Oh, I'm about to watch something. What are we going
- 18:37Speaker 8: to watch?
- 18:38Speaker 7: We're going to watch a movie!
- 18:40Speaker 8: Are you alright?
- 18:41Speaker 7: Yeah, I had a lot of tea with a lot
- 18:43Speaker 7: of sugar today. And I just ate some burritos.
- 18:47Speaker 8: You're all burritoed up.
- 18:48Speaker 7: I am again, but I'm excited.
- 18:49Speaker 8: Now you're going to settle in and watch... Forget Me Not?
- 18:53Speaker 7: Maybe.
- 18:54Speaker 8: You forgot it, but what do we watch?
- 18:56Speaker 7: Exactly. A super adorable Bella Thorne.
- 19:00Speaker 8: She's like 10 years old.
- 19:03Speaker 5: I thought we were watching the cheerleader movie.
- 19:05Speaker 7: Nobody seemed excited about the cheerleader movie.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Oh, okay, whatever.
- 19:08Speaker 8: I'm fine with it. I think it's going to end
- 19:10Speaker 8: up on one of these in the near future.
- 19:12Speaker 7: Okay. Was that one cheerleader movie we watched forever ago
- 19:15Speaker 7: that I was very mad about?
- 19:18Speaker 8: It's just going to be my comment whenever we do
- 19:20Speaker 8: get around to watching the cheerleader movie. It's no pep
- 19:22Speaker 8: squad for me.
- 19:23Speaker 7: Pep squad.
- 19:24Speaker 8: I have that on DVD.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Why?
- 19:26Speaker 8: I came across it recently. Actually, it wasn't even that recent.
- 19:31Speaker 8: It was years ago. I bought it just to be
- 19:32Speaker 8: able to prove to people that it exists. I bought
- 19:35Speaker 8: it for cheap, but I bought it specifically. I think
- 19:38Speaker 8: I could then lord it over you and be like,
- 19:40Speaker 8: we might watch pep squad.
- 19:42Speaker 7: No, I will never watch that movie again. I was
- 19:44Speaker 7: very disappointed because no cheerleaders died.
- 19:48Speaker 8: They have to come up with an entertaining cover. Even
- 19:51Speaker 8: if it's misleading or a complete and utter lie.
- 19:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Alright, let's go watch the movie. And then we'll be back.
- 19:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 11: To help me to remember Baby, please forgive me now
- 20:24Speaker 11: I want you to remember Soon you'll forgive me now
- 20:30Speaker 11: To help me to remember Baby, please forgive.

- 23:45Speaker 7: listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 23:48Speaker 2: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 23:51Speaker 8: Here we go! Let's do some shots!
- 23:59Speaker 3: Cheers!
- 23:59Speaker 11: Who wants some?
- 24:00Speaker 8: We're done! We graduated!
- 24:02Speaker 3: I graduated!
- 24:03Speaker 12: I graduated!
- 24:04Speaker 11: Stop the car!
- 24:22Speaker 10: Hannah, this is Chad's car.
- 24:24Speaker 14: Who's Chad?
- 24:25Speaker 7: Sandy, you're acting like a lunatic.
- 24:31Speaker 8: Who was she? Hey, who's there?
- 24:40Speaker 11: Do you remember me?
- 24:44Speaker 8: What?
- 24:45Speaker 7: Do you remember me?
- 24:49Speaker 3: You will. This isn't real.
- 25:02Speaker 5: People will just disappear.
- 25:05Speaker 8: It's like he was never here.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Are you.
- 25:08Speaker 11: Coming?
- 25:10Speaker 3: Jay!
- 25:39Speaker 12: All right.
- 25:39Speaker 8: We are back post movie ready to get into this week.
- 25:44Speaker 8: So for the future, which is forget me, not the
- 25:49Speaker 8: year's 2009. The director is Tyler Oliver. And they plot,
- 25:53Speaker 8: according to IMDb, and I think I'm just going to
- 25:55Speaker 8: read the first half because the rest just tells the
- 25:57Speaker 8: entire story. It's graduation weekend and Sandy Channing, the popular
- 26:01Speaker 8: class president of her small town high school, should be
- 26:04Speaker 8: enjoying the time of her life. But when her friends
- 26:06Speaker 8: start disappearing, and then you have to continue on. So
- 26:09Speaker 8: we'll get into that anyway.
- 26:12Speaker 7: That we will. There will be major spoiler alerts probably.
- 26:15Speaker 8: Spoiler alert thrown down. So, first off, we've been going
- 26:22Speaker 8: to do this since about 2009, I think.
- 26:24Speaker 7: It's been quite some time.
- 26:25Speaker 8: Because, yeah, it was like, right? It wasn't even out
- 26:30Speaker 8: yet at the time, I'm pretty sure. Like, it had
- 26:32Speaker 8: a weird release. Like, it didn't get released. Or it's
- 26:35Speaker 8: another one of those that, like, they released it in
- 26:37Speaker 8: Canada or something. And then, like, they didn't release it here. So, like,
- 26:41Speaker 8: it's one of those we knew about.
- 26:43Speaker 2: For a while.
- 26:44Speaker 8: And maybe... had watched before it was officially out. That's
- 26:48Speaker 8: a good possibility. Sometimes that happens when you're a movie geek.
- 26:52Speaker 8: But yeah, so it took it a while before I
- 26:55Speaker 8: think it officially made its way out to the world.
- 26:58Speaker 8: I remember watching at the time going, yeah, we need
- 27:01Speaker 8: to talk about this because there's a lot to talk about.
- 27:04Speaker 7: There was a lot of slutty people in this movie
- 27:06Speaker 7: and a lot of people that I was just waiting
- 27:07Speaker 7: for them to die horribly.
- 27:09Speaker 8: None of them.
- 27:11Speaker 7: Died horribly enough to suit their jackass-y attitudes, I don't think.
- 27:15Speaker 8: See, that's the thing. It starts out, that first 15,
- 27:18Speaker 8: 20 minutes, you're just, like, knee-deep in cliche horror people
- 27:23Speaker 8: that you want to watch die.
- 27:26Speaker 7: It was all the same cliche. They didn't have, like,
- 27:28Speaker 7: their bases covered, you know? It was all the slutty jackasses.
- 27:31Speaker 7: There was no, like, There was no black people. There
- 27:35Speaker 7: was no really nerd people.
- 27:37Speaker 6: They were all smart Asians.
- 27:38Speaker 7: It was all the popular, jackass-y, slutty, football stoner people.
- 27:44Speaker 8: It was a realistic way of people how they hang
- 27:46Speaker 8: out with their own dorky white people types. Every once
- 27:51Speaker 8: in a while, maybe they'll get open-minded and branch out
- 27:54Speaker 8: a little bit. But there's a lot of people that
- 27:56Speaker 8: probably fall right into this category. Super privileged, annoying white people. Yep.
- 28:02Speaker 7: That pretty much summed them up. And I wanted them
- 28:04Speaker 7: to all die. And pretty much they did. Spoiler alert.
- 28:09Speaker 8: I have to say, like, I don't know. It's far
- 28:14Speaker 8: from a perfect movie. But I do like what it
- 28:16Speaker 8: ends up doing just because I give it points for, like,
- 28:19Speaker 8: I don't think I've ever seen a movie do this before.
- 28:23Speaker 7: I don't know what the whole, the plot itself, the
- 28:25Speaker 7: premise seems vaguely familiar. Like, perhaps it was also a
- 28:29Speaker 7: Twilight Zone episode at some point.
- 28:30Speaker 8: Stolen from Twilight. It does feel kind of like.
- 28:32Speaker 7: Actually, there was one. There was one with the astronauts.
- 28:35Speaker 7: Remember the astronauts come back and their plane crashed?
- 28:38Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 8: And they slowly disappear.
- 28:40Speaker 7: One by one.
- 28:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 7: And only one guy remembers and he's trying to convince
- 28:43Speaker 7: everybody else. Yeah. It's the exact same fucking plot. I
- 28:47Speaker 7: just realized that.
- 28:48Speaker 8: And oddly enough, also had Bella Thorne.
- 28:50Speaker 7: Dude, she's so fucking awesome.
- 28:51Speaker 8: She's eternal.
- 28:53Speaker 7: But I'm serious. I'm not making it up. That is
- 28:55Speaker 7: a Twilight Zone episode. It is.
- 28:56Speaker 8: I remember that one. I feel like the basic setup
- 28:59Speaker 8: and the way that it works sometimes feels like a
- 29:01Speaker 8: bunch of other different horror movies. But yeah, the resetting
- 29:04Speaker 8: the timeline aspect is pretty interesting. And I feel like
- 29:08Speaker 8: I haven't seen that a ton outside of maybe that.
- 29:10Speaker 7: Twilight Zone episode. Well, that threw me off. Because at
- 29:12Speaker 7: one point, the slutty girl is wearing her little slutty skirt.
- 29:14Speaker 7: But then after one of the people disappears and it
- 29:17Speaker 7: alters their change... I just totally spoiler alerted again... Well,
- 29:21Speaker 7: not really. I mean, I didn't tell you which one
- 29:22Speaker 7: of the jackasses died. But she goes from wearing her
- 29:25Speaker 7: slutty skirt to slutty pants because the disappearance of that
- 29:29Speaker 7: person altered their plans from going to the beach to
- 29:33Speaker 7: going to the mountains instead.
- 29:34Speaker 8: Again, that's what I'll give them credit for in the
- 29:37Speaker 8: structuring and writing of this. Again, the dialogue. is nothing special.
- 29:41Speaker 8: It's kind of what you'd expect from cliche horror people.
- 29:44Speaker 8: But the mapping it out works pretty well because you
- 29:47Speaker 8: get to the point where... It's really kind of jarring
- 29:50Speaker 8: that first time when they're on the motorcycle and they're
- 29:53Speaker 8: on the car, and then the motorcycle disappears, and you're like, wait,
- 29:55Speaker 8: what the fuck?
- 29:55Speaker 7: Because their plans changed.
- 29:57Speaker 8: But, no, my favorite was then when it gets down
- 29:59Speaker 8: to less people, and then the vehicle disappears and they're
- 30:03Speaker 8: back to the motorcycle. It's because the guy who disappeared
- 30:05Speaker 8: and went back home was the only one who could
- 30:07Speaker 8: drive that car, if you remember. So now they had
- 30:10Speaker 8: to be, because he was the only one driving the
- 30:12Speaker 8: vehicle when they go out on the other trips, and
- 30:14Speaker 8: then he is not with them in the new timeline,
- 30:17Speaker 8: so they had to be on the motorcycle again. Again,
- 30:19Speaker 8: it's not just randomly slapped together. I will give him
- 30:23Speaker 8: credit for the structuring. It's pretty exactly mapped out how
- 30:27Speaker 8: everything needs to be to end up like it is.
- 30:29Speaker 14: Why would he bring a freaking boogie board to the mountains?
- 30:35Speaker 4: I have nothing to say to you.
- 30:38Speaker 10: Excuse me?
- 30:49Speaker 4: About tj who the heck is tj nope.
- 30:54Speaker 10: I don't want to be with anybody else not now
- 30:56Speaker 10: not ever you're.
- 30:57Speaker 6: Trash fuck you sandy see.
- 31:00Speaker 8: Lex just because you're sin to fucking rela doesn't give
- 31:03Speaker 8: you the right to judge the rest of us do me.
- 31:04Speaker 6: A favor lex and shut the fuck up.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Jesus jake wake up you think it's just me she
- 31:09Speaker 5: thinks you're trash too she thinks the whole family's.
- 31:12Speaker 7: Garbage i'm very impressed with that because i mean i've
- 31:14Speaker 7: only seen it twice now and the first time i
- 31:16Speaker 7: I think I missed some things, like the slutty skirt change.
- 31:20Speaker 7: But going back and watching it again, there's more things
- 31:22Speaker 7: I picked up on. Oh, that's why that's like that.
- 31:25Speaker 7: It was like a total mind blown, that's why she's
- 31:29Speaker 7: wearing pants.
- 31:30Speaker 14: It was like a good five, ten minutes later, I'm like, that's.
- 31:33Speaker 7: Why she's changed clothes. It's because they're going to the
- 31:36Speaker 7: mountains instead. It took me that long to sit there.
- 31:40Speaker 7: I'm like, why would it be the point of them
- 31:42Speaker 7: changing her outfit?
- 31:45Speaker 10: Oh.
- 31:47Speaker 7: I'm a little slow. And she was very slutty.
- 31:51Speaker 8: Which one?
- 31:52Speaker 7: The super slutty girl.
- 31:53Speaker 8: Other than our main character girl, they were all kind
- 31:55Speaker 8: of slutty.
- 31:57Speaker 7: They were all super slutty.
- 31:58Speaker 8: I was trying to think, was there a non?
- 32:03Speaker 7: Nope, they were all slutty.
- 32:04Speaker 8: Well, no, the main girl wasn't really slutty. That's what
- 32:08Speaker 8: I'm saying.
- 32:09Speaker 6: Her brother wasn't really slutty.
- 32:10Speaker 8: He's just dorky, yeah. He's just dorky.
- 32:13Speaker 7: But not like dorky dorky. He's still a popular kid dorky.
- 32:16Speaker 8: Well, that's the other thing. And I was like, I
- 32:18Speaker 8: don't know if that was being affected by the timeline shifts.
- 32:21Speaker 8: But even in the beginning, I'm like, did they not
- 32:24Speaker 8: say he was valedictorian and like skipped a grade? I'm like,
- 32:27Speaker 8: so for somebody that's that hardcore, even if he isn't
- 32:32Speaker 8: a super geek because he loves education and he just
- 32:34Speaker 8: wants to get ahead in college. Like even if he
- 32:38Speaker 8: just happens to be pretty smart. He fell right into
- 32:41Speaker 8: the partying end of it pretty quick for a guy
- 32:44Speaker 8: who's valedictorian of his class. That, like, next thing you know, he's, like, just...
- 32:49Speaker 8: I don't know. He's drinking heavily and partying with the
- 32:52Speaker 8: rest of these idiots who have.
- 32:53Speaker 7: But then, later during the thing, didn't they mention that
- 32:55Speaker 7: his sister was valedictorian? Yeah. So maybe at that.
- 32:59Speaker 8: Or were they... They were both? That's what I thought.
- 33:01Speaker 8: I thought they were kind of co, but, like, still, like.
- 33:05Speaker 8: I don't know. She sort of did. But by the
- 33:08Speaker 8: end when he's like toking up, I was just like,
- 33:11Speaker 8: so did this change with the timeline? And now he's
- 33:13Speaker 8: not really all that smart anymore. He's more interested in
- 33:16Speaker 8: being a stoner kid. But yeah, they didn't really pan
- 33:19Speaker 8: out any extra on that. So you don't really see
- 33:22Speaker 8: if that was more or he just all of a
- 33:24Speaker 8: sudden decided he needed to get high.
- 33:26Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 33:27Speaker 8: I thought that was an interesting mix that I can't
- 33:32Speaker 8: decide if was on purpose or just happened as it
- 33:35Speaker 8: went along.
- 33:35Speaker 7: I don't know. I just spent most of the movie
- 33:37Speaker 7: being like, where do I know that person from? Where
- 33:39Speaker 7: have I seen that person before?
- 33:40Speaker 8: That was the first 20 minutes.
- 33:41Speaker 7: Yeah, then we had to get out the phones and
- 33:44Speaker 7: the IMDB and be like, oh, that person's from Miley,
- 33:48Speaker 7: from Hannah Montana, that one person's from the Lizzie McGuire.
- 33:51Speaker 8: I mean, the whole time I was like, I know,
- 33:53Speaker 8: I know that dude.
- 33:53Speaker 7: That one guy was from Son-in-Law. Had to break back
- 33:57Speaker 7: really low on that one.
- 34:00Speaker 8: You're digging deep to get that one.
- 34:01Speaker 7: I was. I was scraping the bottom much like he
- 34:03Speaker 7: was at some point. But yeah, I just thought it
- 34:08Speaker 7: was interesting how they did go through and how each
- 34:10Speaker 7: person's disappearance affected the entire timeline. Like, when the girl,
- 34:14Speaker 7: the sister, when she disappeared, how their dad went from
- 34:18Speaker 7: being this joking, you know, fun-loving guy, sort of, you know,
- 34:21Speaker 7: to a degree, to just this fucking asshole.
- 34:24Speaker 5: You know?
- 34:25Speaker 8: The whole rest of the movie is just a dick.
- 34:28Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just, you know, the fact that they went
- 34:30Speaker 7: through and they made all these changes and it.
- 34:34Speaker 7: You might miss some of the things. I mean, some
- 34:36Speaker 7: of the things are pretty blatantly obvious, but some of
- 34:38Speaker 7: them are, you know, the little, it's the little things
- 34:40Speaker 7: that I like that I appreciate that they went through
- 34:42Speaker 7: and put that little thing in there for that person.
- 34:44Speaker 7: It's like, oh.
- 34:45Speaker 5: Like the cop without his daughter all of a sudden
- 34:47Speaker 5: has a molestash.
- 34:48Speaker 7: That was pretty rowdy. That was like a full-on, like,
- 34:52Speaker 7: creeper mustache.
- 34:54Speaker 8: It is that, again, there's like, they ease their way
- 34:57Speaker 8: into it so that you really, like, the first couple
- 35:00Speaker 8: of times it happens, you're just like, Are they just, like,
- 35:03Speaker 8: messing with her? Because you do get that, like, who's TJ? Like,
- 35:07Speaker 8: he's a jerk. I don't like that guy. Who's TJ?
- 35:09Speaker 7: Who's Chad? Because nobody wants to, but they know a Chad,
- 35:11Speaker 7: because Chad's are all jackasses.
- 35:12Speaker 6: Unless you're listening.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I'll work with one.
- 35:15Speaker 7: And you're a Chad, then quit being a douche.
- 35:17Speaker 8: That guy, in this case, was completely a douche.
- 35:22Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:22Speaker 6: I had a friend named Chad, and he wasn't a douche.
- 35:26Speaker 7: He is now.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Now.
- 35:28Speaker 8: Did he have a bitching car like this, Chad?
- 35:30Speaker 6: Actually, he had an older Monte Carlo.
- 35:32Speaker 5: It was a pretty decent Monte Carlo. Me and him
- 35:35Speaker 5: were really good friends. I quit the job that I
- 35:38Speaker 5: was working at and went somewhere else.
- 35:40Speaker 6: That was the last time I saw him.
- 35:42Speaker 8: Sometimes that kills you.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Yeah, sometimes that happens.
- 35:45Speaker 7: My main problem with this movie is when the girl...
- 35:48Speaker 7: Was it Chad she was with? The douchebag? Was it
- 35:51Speaker 7: his class ring?
- 35:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 7: When they get into a fight after having just had
- 35:56Speaker 7: sex in the car... And he's like, oh, I'm done
- 35:59Speaker 7: with this because he's a jackass. Anyways, she rips off
- 36:02Speaker 7: his ring, which.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:04Speaker 8: Do you want me to go into that now?
- 36:05Speaker 7: You can go into that.
- 36:05Speaker 8: Because that was mine I've noticed many, many times over
- 36:08Speaker 8: the years. It's like in any scene, like it's always
- 36:12Speaker 8: like usually it's they're wearing a ring or some sort
- 36:15Speaker 8: of fancy necklace they gave him for a present or
- 36:17Speaker 8: no one. I don't think anyone has ever unclasp the
- 36:21Speaker 8: necklace and given it back to someone or thrown it
- 36:23Speaker 8: in a river or. thrown in a ravine or whatever
- 36:26Speaker 8: dramatic move they have to make. It's obviously also not
- 36:30Speaker 8: dramatic and cool to reach back behind your head and
- 36:33Speaker 8: start fumbling with it, trying to unclasp it. You just
- 36:35Speaker 8: have to rip it off.
- 36:35Speaker 7: Because then you have to go, can you get this
- 36:37Speaker 7: for me? It's stuck in my hair.
- 36:39Speaker 8: Ow, my hair. So yeah, they just dramatically rip it
- 36:43Speaker 8: off and throw it into the lake.
- 36:45Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 36:46Speaker 8: I just thought that's funny because I've noticed that so
- 36:48Speaker 8: many times over there. And I'm like, in the real world,
- 36:50Speaker 8: have I ever seen anyone just rip a chain off
- 36:52Speaker 8: of their neck? But maybe I don't get involved in.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Drama, so.
- 36:56Speaker 8: I'm sure there's been plenty of people in their high
- 36:59Speaker 8: school relationships. Or things that function like high school relationships.
- 37:03Speaker 7: I've never ripped a chain off my neck.
- 37:04Speaker 8: Yeah, I haven't either. I don't mean either. So, somewhere
- 37:08Speaker 8: out there, I'm sure somebody's going through a really horrible
- 37:11Speaker 8: excuse for a relationship, and it's happened to me.
- 37:13Speaker 5: I mean, I've done some pretty bad stuff.
- 37:16Speaker 6: Nothing that I'm going to mention.
- 37:18Speaker 7: But then she throws the ring into the lake, which
- 37:21Speaker 7: is completely unjustifiable because this guy's just Chad.
- 37:24Speaker 8: That part made sense. The next part makes no sense.
- 37:28Speaker 7: Okay, he abandons your ass on the side.
- 37:31Speaker 10: Of the lake.
- 37:31Speaker 8: Actually, that didn't surprise me. Yeah, it didn't surprise me.
- 37:34Speaker 7: I'm not surprised by that. But he abandons your ass.
- 37:37Speaker 7: Why do you go wading in the water looking for
- 37:39Speaker 7: this jackass's ring?
- 37:40Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly.
- 37:41Speaker 6: That doesn't make any sense.
- 37:43Speaker 8: As she's wading in, I'm like, But you threw it there.
- 37:46Speaker 8: If you wanted it, why did you throw it there? Yeah, exactly. Like,
- 37:49Speaker 8: if he's a dick and you don't want anything to
- 37:51Speaker 8: do with him, then don't go looking for it.
- 37:54Speaker 7: He drove off in his bitching Camaro and left you
- 37:57Speaker 7: on the... It's not really a Camaro, I don't think.
- 37:59Speaker 7: I just like to say bitching Camaro. But anyways, he
- 38:01Speaker 7: left her ass there on the side of the lake
- 38:03Speaker 7: and she goes in there like a dipshit. I'm like,
- 38:06Speaker 7: this fucker just literally fucked you in his car and
- 38:09Speaker 7: just fucking left you there after breaking up with you. Oh,
- 38:12Speaker 7: but you have to go get the ring back.
- 38:14Speaker 5: She's a dipshit, that's why.
- 38:16Speaker 7: She was the first to die, and I was okay
- 38:17Speaker 7: with that.
- 38:18Speaker 8: She's a horror, cliche dipshit.
- 38:20Speaker 7: But her underpants matched.
- 38:22Speaker 8: That's pretty fancy for that kind of hoe. I mean,
- 38:25Speaker 8: unless maybe she was just planning on being in her
- 38:27Speaker 8: underpants the entire time.
- 38:29Speaker 7: She seemed like that kind of girl.
- 38:31Speaker 8: So yeah, maybe that's why she was just planning ahead
- 38:33Speaker 8: to probably not be wearing clothes quite often. That's a
- 38:37Speaker 8: good possibility. Why not make them match and look extra fancy?
- 38:42Speaker 7: Sandy, what the hell's going on? You're acting like a lunatic.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Hannah, this is Chad's car.
- 38:48Speaker 7: Who's Chad?
- 38:52Speaker 8: The pretty boy asshole?
- 38:55Speaker 10: The guy who drives this car?
- 38:57Speaker 7: Oh, yeah, you fucked him yesterday. How about that? Sandy,
- 38:59Speaker 7: come on.
- 39:00Speaker 8: You're freaking me out, all right?
- 39:02Speaker 4: She's out of her goddamn mind.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Shut up!
- 39:06Speaker 2: Sandy, what the fuck is going on?
- 39:08Speaker 7: What is this, Jake? Is this some kind of joke?
- 39:10Speaker 7: I don't know, Sandy.
- 39:14Speaker 8: I do like it. Again, it's also one of those
- 39:19Speaker 8: that you start playing with, and it's a dynamic that's
- 39:22Speaker 8: in a lot of horror movies and a lot of thriller,
- 39:25Speaker 8: and you get, even going back, like, a lot of your, like,
- 39:28Speaker 8: Hitchcock stuff. Like, you get that wrong man scenario, but then, like,
- 39:33Speaker 8: you get it sort of magnified when it starts to
- 39:35Speaker 8: be the crazy scenario where suddenly everybody else in the
- 39:39Speaker 8: movie thinks you are completely insane. Yeah. And, like, only
- 39:43Speaker 8: the viewer going along for the ride is just like,
- 39:45Speaker 8: but no, it did just happen.
- 39:46Speaker 7: I saw that it disappeared.
- 39:47Speaker 14: And, like.
- 39:48Speaker 8: So when we get halfway in and everybody is like,
- 39:50Speaker 8: what is wrong with her? Like, it is kind of
- 39:53Speaker 8: cool because it's a whole new aspect of like, it's
- 39:56Speaker 8: just a dumb horror movie up to that point. Now
- 39:57Speaker 8: you're like, whoa, wait, okay, what is going on? And
- 40:00Speaker 8: in which side are we going to end up on?
- 40:03Speaker 8: Is it, is it that she is? Cause then that
- 40:05Speaker 8: became the twist actually right about this time or even
- 40:08Speaker 8: a little earlier, everything became the, it's all in their mind.
- 40:11Speaker 8: And like you were duped, stupid audience members. So, It
- 40:16Speaker 8: really was every other character was right, and we were
- 40:18Speaker 8: watching it from the perspective of the crazy person the
- 40:21Speaker 8: whole time. That became a real standard move for several
- 40:25Speaker 8: years there in movies. So it's kind of, again, almost
- 40:30Speaker 8: refreshing to not have it be that. To be like, no,
- 40:33Speaker 8: it really was kind of going on the way that
- 40:36Speaker 8: she was seen. Do you want to go into the
- 40:52Speaker 8: people that return from after they were attacked? These new spirits.
- 40:58Speaker 7: The Manson video rejects.
- 41:00Speaker 8: I believe is how you put it.
- 41:03Speaker 6: Well, I mean, you got to think about it.
- 41:04Speaker 5: I mean, it seems kind of silly throughout the movie.
- 41:11Speaker 6: It seems kind of odd.
- 41:13Speaker 5: But when you get to the very end of the movie,
- 41:14Speaker 5: when it shows the kids how they were dressed up,
- 41:17Speaker 5: If you notice, they're kind of dressed up in kind
- 41:20Speaker 5: of shambly rags, and some of them have duct tape
- 41:22Speaker 5: around them and stuff like that.
- 41:24Speaker 8: I mean, it does at least make sense. That's the thing.
- 41:28Speaker 8: I do remember, or that first time I watched it,
- 41:31Speaker 8: I really don't remember piecing together just how much they're
- 41:34Speaker 8: just recreating the game. I think I remember focusing more
- 41:38Speaker 8: on the timeline resetting itself and thinking that was cool,
- 41:41Speaker 8: but I'm like, at the same time, it's simultaneously completely
- 41:45Speaker 8: recreating the game.
- 41:47Speaker 7: Because they're all becoming the ghosts.
- 41:48Speaker 8: In the spirit world, yeah. It's not just the original
- 41:50Speaker 8: girl taking them out one by one, just her each time.
- 41:53Speaker 8: It's like each time she picks up new people and
- 41:55Speaker 8: more people. And they become the ghosts. And it gets
- 41:56Speaker 8: to be the ghost graveyard game. Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 8: This time I really was kind of like focusing on
- 42:01Speaker 8: how much it's just, oh, the entire thing is just
- 42:04Speaker 8: recreating the game that injured her or made her.
- 42:08Speaker 7: Traumatized.
- 42:10Speaker 8: Have an epileptic fit or I don't know what exactly
- 42:12Speaker 8: went down.
- 42:13Speaker 5: She ended up going into a coma yeah so I
- 42:16Speaker 5: don't know maybe she hit her head really hard.
- 42:18Speaker 7: She did hit her head on the door it seemed
- 42:20Speaker 7: like when she ran towards it she hit her head
- 42:22Speaker 7: and then put her in a seizure or whatever.
- 42:23Speaker 5: Yeah and then probably went into a coma I don't
- 42:25Speaker 5: know exactly but that's what it kind of.
- 42:27Speaker 7: Seemed like I don't think I'd realize the first time
- 42:30Speaker 7: that the girl at the beginning was supposed to have
- 42:33Speaker 7: been the grown up version of the Bella Thorne character
- 42:35Speaker 7: I don't think I'd realize that the very first time
- 42:36Speaker 7: I was just like who the fuck's this chick and
- 42:38Speaker 7: I just kind of forgot.
- 42:38Speaker 5: I kind of figured it out when she jumped off
- 42:41Speaker 5: the cliff and disappeared and I was like oh okay
- 42:43Speaker 5: well I guess that's the other girl because she asked
- 42:45Speaker 5: do you remember me and the other girl said no
- 42:48Speaker 5: she said no because she didn't remember her at first.
- 42:52Speaker 10: You will I know.
- 42:56Speaker 7: So what was the whole end about was it just
- 42:57Speaker 7: like her I guess getting her revenge and getting her
- 43:00Speaker 7: she gets to come back to life wakes her up
- 43:03Speaker 7: from the coma and the other girl takes her place.
- 43:05Speaker 8: She sort of yeah replaced her like she got her
- 43:07Speaker 8: what did they say it was like six years in
- 43:09Speaker 8: between so like She got her six years in the coma,
- 43:12Speaker 8: and she brought her into the coma, and so now
- 43:16Speaker 8: we need a sequel when they loop around again.
- 43:20Speaker 7: Wait till Bella Thorne's character.
- 43:22Speaker 8: Starring Bella Thorne. They could do that now. I mean,
- 43:26Speaker 8: now she is doing horror movies slash TV series, so
- 43:30Speaker 8: she has become the final girl kind of thing.
- 43:32Speaker 7: And starring on cereal boxes.
- 43:35Speaker 6: Which one's Bella Thorne, the little girl or the older girl?
- 43:37Speaker 8: She was the little version.
- 43:39Speaker 10: Oh.
- 43:40Speaker 8: But this was 2009. Why was she on your cereal box?
- 43:43Speaker 8: By now, she's a superstar.
- 43:45Speaker 7: That was a long time ago. And now she's like
- 43:47Speaker 7: an actress and a singer.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Oh, she is?
- 43:49Speaker 8: Why was she on your cereal box?
- 43:50Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 43:51Speaker 8: I kind of thought it was weird, too. It's an
- 43:53Speaker 8: odd time. Is she on like a Wheaties box?
- 43:55Speaker 7: No, she was on Cocoa Pimples.
- 43:56Speaker 8: She is the gold medal champion and star of Shake
- 43:59Speaker 8: It Up.
- 43:59Speaker 3: What?
- 43:59Speaker 8: Bella Filler.
- 44:01Speaker 9: What?
- 44:02Speaker 8: What's Shake It Up?
- 44:04Speaker 7: Boyfriend is not hip to the teen scene. I don't know.
- 44:07Speaker 8: What you're going to do, man.
- 44:09Speaker 5: The teen scene?
- 44:11Speaker 8: The teen scene of like three seasons.
- 44:13Speaker 7: Ago yeah there's a new scream show too until she
- 44:17Speaker 7: dies does she die i think they.
- 44:19Speaker 8: All die it's kind of how their promos have been
- 44:21Speaker 8: going like i like that they're taking that on a
- 44:23Speaker 8: side trip into a different series here but i do
- 44:27Speaker 8: like again because they're building so much i mean the
- 44:29Speaker 8: scream franchise is built on nothing but making fun of
- 44:32Speaker 8: and commenting on horror cliches.
- 44:34Speaker 6: They're doing more screams it's a tv series yeah Who
- 44:39Speaker 6: the hell wants to watch that?
- 44:40Speaker 7: I want to watch it. I got T-voted.
- 44:42Speaker 8: The first time I heard it, I was like, oh, really?
- 44:44Speaker 8: And then I saw that first trailer, and I was like, oh,
- 44:46Speaker 8: they're doing something different with it. I feel like they
- 44:49Speaker 8: are putting some work into it.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Well, maybe it'll be okay. I don't know.
- 44:52Speaker 8: But as I was saying, though, that's how they're billing it, though.
- 44:55Speaker 8: They're like, you know how you watch these horror movies,
- 44:56Speaker 8: and you really just want to watch everybody die? well,
- 44:58Speaker 8: that's what we're going to do. So tune in every
- 45:00Speaker 8: week and watch somebody die.
- 45:01Speaker 5: And I'm like, that's, are they just going to be,
- 45:04Speaker 5: are they just going to keep bringing on new characters
- 45:06Speaker 5: and killing them off?
- 45:07Speaker 8: Well, I think it's a whole show of red shirts.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Is that what it is?
- 45:09Speaker 8: It's kind of like a set, like the cable wins
- 45:12Speaker 8: are just like 10 episodes or 12 episodes. I think
- 45:14Speaker 8: they've got that whole season mapped out.
- 45:16Speaker 9: It seems like one of my favorite shows, one of
- 45:18Speaker 9: my favorite shows is mapped out like that.
- 45:20Speaker 7: Okay. Harper's Island. I have talked and sang the praises
- 45:24Speaker 7: of Harper's Island for many a year. And it's one
- 45:27Speaker 7: of those where, It had a set number. This was
- 45:30Speaker 7: what it was going to run from this to this.
- 45:31Speaker 7: And each episode, I'm pretty sure, each episode, one person
- 45:36Speaker 7: in the wedding party died. And the name of the
- 45:39Speaker 7: episode gave a hint as to what their death was
- 45:42Speaker 7: going to be.
- 45:43Speaker 8: Pretty sneaky.
- 45:44Speaker 7: I love that show. I do. I'm so smitten with
- 45:48Speaker 7: that show. It's probably where my infatuation was the... the
- 45:53Speaker 7: guy from Top Gear came from, because the guy in
- 45:55Speaker 7: that show reminds me of him.
- 45:56Speaker 6: Hammond?
- 45:56Speaker 10: Yes.
- 45:59Speaker 8: Oh, let's see. So we got sidetracked on those characters, though.
- 46:03Speaker 8: I think it was cool that they're recreating that game, but.
- 46:05Speaker 7: And everybody should watch Harper's Island, because I fucking love
- 46:08Speaker 7: that show.
- 46:08Speaker 8: If there's the cheesy part of this movie, it is
- 46:11Speaker 8: that whole aspect. To me, that's the part I'm just like, oh,
- 46:16Speaker 8: this really is a low-budget horror movie.
- 46:18Speaker 7: Which part?
- 46:19Speaker 8: The other, as they become the ghosts or whatever.
- 46:22Speaker 2: The garbage bag people.
- 46:23Speaker 8: Yeah, whatever the duct tape people are.
- 46:26Speaker 6: Well, they CG'd their faces to make.
- 46:28Speaker 8: Them a little bit scarier. Were they CG'd or were they, like, masculine? Well,
- 46:31Speaker 8: it was both. Like, one of them would have, like,
- 46:33Speaker 8: a really bad prosthetic giant mouth on, and then another
- 46:36Speaker 8: one they would switch to a really bad CG giant mouth.
- 46:39Speaker 5: Where the mouth would stretch.
- 46:42Speaker 6: Big sharp teeth.
- 46:42Speaker 8: Pointy fangs. I feel like all of that looks pretty cheesy. Like,
- 46:46Speaker 8: whichever version you get, either prosthetic or CG. They both
- 46:50Speaker 8: were done kind of cheesy, but... Yeah, they were trying.
- 46:53Speaker 5: Yeah, they do the little flittery Marilyn Manson video effects.
- 46:57Speaker 7: That's what I kept saying, like, these are Marilyn Manson
- 46:58Speaker 7: video rejects.
- 46:59Speaker 8: Well, I mean, again, it became.
- 47:01Speaker 7: And the scene in the chapel, I'm like, this is
- 47:03Speaker 7: straight out of a fucking Manson video. I've seen this
- 47:06Speaker 7: video before, where she, like, breaks through the window, and
- 47:09Speaker 7: there's all, you know, the little... The Manson Twitch. You
- 47:12Speaker 7: know what I'm talking about.
- 47:12Speaker 8: Well, I feel like this was even super cliche by
- 47:15Speaker 8: the time we get to this movie.
- 47:17Speaker 3: 2009.
- 47:17Speaker 8: I feel like it was early 2000s. Because to me,
- 47:20Speaker 8: that always feels like when they started doing all the
- 47:23Speaker 8: Japanese horror remakes in America. And all of the Japanese
- 47:27Speaker 8: horror spirits have weird twitchy things that they do.
- 47:30Speaker 6: And when it first came out, it was creepy.
- 47:33Speaker 8: It was creepy. It was fucking creepy.
- 47:34Speaker 7: None of them meowed.
- 47:36Speaker 8: Because we... That's also a little creepy. It shouldn't be,
- 47:39Speaker 8: but it's still disturbing.
- 47:40Speaker 10: What?
- 47:41Speaker 6: Meowed?
- 47:42Speaker 8: In the... Is that the grudge?
- 47:44Speaker 7: I think I'm pretty sure it was the grudge. The
- 47:45Speaker 7: little boy who meowed.
- 47:46Speaker 8: The little boy meows.
- 47:47Speaker 14: Meow.
- 47:47Speaker 7: I don't remember how it actually sounded.
- 47:48Speaker 8: Nothing good like that.
- 47:49Speaker 7: It wasn't like a kitten.
- 47:51Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 47:51Speaker 6: That was annoying. Everybody's like, oh, my God, that's so scary.
- 47:54Speaker 6: I'd be like, you know what? I'm going to punt
- 47:55Speaker 6: that kid across the room like a cat.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Meow.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 8: But yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 5: Get out of my yard.
- 48:02Speaker 8: Starting with the ring as they started doing all the remakes.
- 48:05Speaker 8: It became the thing. So it's like.
- 48:07Speaker 6: After about the 20th movie, you're like, all right, I've
- 48:10Speaker 6: seen this.
- 48:10Speaker 8: It's not scary anymore. And then every American movie.
- 48:14Speaker 7: Has the black hair.
- 48:15Speaker 8: And had to do the black hair over the face.
- 48:17Speaker 7: And the twitchy movements. And the backward movement recorded forward.
- 48:20Speaker 8: And there's other, like there's other, yeah. Or they'll take
- 48:22Speaker 8: out frames where they jump around, which that. I still
- 48:25Speaker 8: think I've always credited like the first time I really
- 48:28Speaker 8: remember seeing somebody do that. And it's not really what
- 48:31Speaker 8: people consider, at least not slasher. It's sort of horror.
- 48:35Speaker 8: Jacob's Ladder.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I've not seen it.
- 48:36Speaker 8: It was one of the first time in his weird
- 48:39Speaker 8: crazy flashback.
- 48:40Speaker 6: Dude, that's a great movie.
- 48:41Speaker 8: It's, but I remember that's the first time I saw
- 48:43Speaker 8: that visual style and again, nobody ever gives Avery line
- 48:47Speaker 8: credit for doing anything.
- 48:47Speaker 7: I've not seen it. I bought it on clearance but
- 48:49Speaker 7: I've not yet watched it.
- 48:49Speaker 6: We need to watch it.
- 48:50Speaker 8: It's weird. It's got some really messed up stuff in
- 48:53Speaker 8: it but so much of it is straight. So much
- 48:55Speaker 8: of it is him just talking and it's normal but
- 48:58Speaker 8: then he goes into those weird vision flashbacks whatever you
- 49:01Speaker 8: think they are and it Yeah, those weird images. Like,
- 49:06Speaker 8: that's the first time I remember seeing that. And then
- 49:08Speaker 8: it feels like all the other ones started doing it.
- 49:10Speaker 8: You got tons of, like, video game movies started. like
- 49:13Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure like Silent Hill people do that and
- 49:18Speaker 8: all your Parasites.
- 49:19Speaker 5: Apparently I didn't get the full aspect of Jacob's Ladder
- 49:22Speaker 5: because I wasn't.
- 49:23Speaker 6: Stoned I.
- 49:25Speaker 5: Guess I missed out I guess I do everything wrong
- 49:29Speaker 5: because apparently I've missed out on all things because you're
- 49:32Speaker 5: not stoned man you gotta you're not seen it the
- 49:36Speaker 5: right way and I'm like you know what fuck you alright.
- 49:39Speaker 8: I think I should be able to enjoy it normal.
- 49:42Speaker 6: If you want to.
- 49:43Speaker 8: Up it with your special level of stone.
- 49:45Speaker 6: As normal as I can get.
- 49:48Speaker 8: I do like, and I'm sure we all thought this. Jay,
- 49:54Speaker 8: you said it out loud as we got to them
- 49:55Speaker 8: playing the game. That game sucks with two people. Yeah. Bella,
- 50:00Speaker 8: I'm sorry. No, it's not a good game with two people.
- 50:04Speaker 8: You can't.
- 50:05Speaker 11: You can't do it.
- 50:06Speaker 8: It's just tag and a low-rent version of tag.
- 50:08Speaker 11: Yeah, exactly.
- 50:09Speaker 8: With two people.
- 50:10Speaker 6: You know, I'm going to go hide.
- 50:11Speaker 8: It's hide-and-seek.
- 50:12Speaker 7: I used to play hide-and-seek with my cousin Aaron all
- 50:14Speaker 7: the time.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's different.
- 50:15Speaker 8: He just would go hide somewhere and you'd never come.
- 50:19Speaker 8: He'd be like, Misty's been looking for me for eight hours.
- 50:21Speaker 5: Shh.
- 50:22Speaker 6: I mean, I played hide-and-seek. Like, if you've got two people,
- 50:24Speaker 6: that's fine. Three people's okay. But the game that they're...
- 50:27Speaker 6: The specific game that they're playing, okay.
- 50:30Speaker 5: Think about it. One person's the ghost and the other
- 50:33Speaker 5: people have to hide. And as you tag one person.
- 50:35Speaker 6: They become a ghost too. Maybe it's just their version
- 50:38Speaker 6: of hide and seek.
- 50:40Speaker 5: But then it does you no good if you've got
- 50:41Speaker 5: two people because once you tag the other person, then
- 50:43Speaker 5: the fucking game's over.
- 50:44Speaker 7: Then they become the ghost.
- 50:45Speaker 8: And then you're going to start all over again. But
- 50:47Speaker 8: then it's back and forth. The whole idea of why...
- 50:49Speaker 8: And as they did it, I was like, it's a
- 50:50Speaker 8: variation on a couple games, but I don't remember ever
- 50:53Speaker 8: playing one like it. And I'm like, it's actually kind
- 50:54Speaker 8: of cool because it becomes a mounting thing. When you
- 50:59Speaker 8: become the last one, you win, supposedly. But when you're
- 51:02Speaker 8: the last two, suddenly you have eight kids running after you.
- 51:04Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 51:04Speaker 8: It's not like... the one person that's it in most
- 51:07Speaker 8: traditional little kid games. It's like, suddenly it's a zombie,
- 51:11Speaker 8: you know, horde coming after you, and it's a little creepier.
- 51:14Speaker 6: As a kid's game.
- 51:14Speaker 8: And that's the way it is.
- 51:17Speaker 6: As they start getting picked off one by one.
- 51:19Speaker 8: In the movie, yeah.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Yeah, you see the, you know, you got a whole
- 51:22Speaker 5: horde of flickering garbage bag duct tape monsters.
- 51:25Speaker 6: Coming after you.
- 51:26Speaker 8: I hate when that happens.
- 51:30Speaker 6: It's kind of hard to stop duct tape, really.
- 51:32Speaker 8: It is pretty impressive.
- 51:33Speaker 6: You can blowtorch it, maybe.
- 51:35Speaker 8: It's how I hold myself together most of the time,
- 51:37Speaker 8: and I'm not dead that you know of.
- 51:38Speaker 6: It's how I'm holding my finger together right now.
- 51:40Speaker 8: Most of the days, I have it on me somewhere,
- 51:43Speaker 8: holding me together.
- 51:43Speaker 6: Well, this is a thousand-mile tape. It's military-grade duct tape.
- 51:49Speaker 7: My other main problem was the... Seriously, guys, you couldn't
- 51:52Speaker 7: get better Halloween express decorations for your abandoned house?
- 51:56Speaker 10: No.
- 51:57Speaker 7: I mean... The inside was almost passable, but outside, come
- 52:01Speaker 7: on now. That is obviously the fake spiderwebs. It's not
- 52:04Speaker 7: even realistic.
- 52:05Speaker 5: There ain't no cobwebs hanging like that.
- 52:07Speaker 6: We had an abandoned house right next door to us.
- 52:09Speaker 6: For how many years was that abandoned?
- 52:11Speaker 8: Two, three years?
- 52:12Speaker 7: No huge cobwebs hanging from there.
- 52:14Speaker 8: Ghost kids wandering around the yard or anything? No.
- 52:17Speaker 5: Most we got out of it was that huge decoupage
- 52:20Speaker 5: picture of the apocalypse.
- 52:25Speaker 8: Which is fucking awesome.
- 52:26Speaker 7: And you gave it away.
- 52:27Speaker 3: I know.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Well, I didn't have any room for it in the garage.
- 52:30Speaker 7: I wouldn't let you bring it in the house.
- 52:31Speaker 6: It's hanging in Richie's living room. It's his trophy.
- 52:34Speaker 7: It's the centerpiece. It pulls the room together.
- 52:39Speaker 5: He's forever in my debt. Is that right?
- 52:45Speaker 6: Something like that. For giving him that.
- 52:49Speaker 7: Wooden decoupage for Horseman of the Apocalypse.
- 52:51Speaker 8: There's the real horror of this story.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Dude, it was awesome.
- 52:55Speaker 7: You've met Richie. You've seen him excited.
- 52:58Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 52:58Speaker 7: God.
- 52:59Speaker 8: I can only imagine.
- 53:00Speaker 6: This is more, like, this is the.
- 53:02Speaker 7: It was like a five-minute dude.
- 53:03Speaker 6: This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to his.
- 53:06Speaker 5: Life, was me giving him that. Because he saw it
- 53:09Speaker 5: in my garage, and he was just like, oh, my God.
- 53:12Speaker 10: Oh, my God.
- 53:13Speaker 11: Oh, my God.
- 53:13Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
- 53:14Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 53:14Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 53:15Speaker 8: Where'd you get that? Like when Misty saw Velvet Kenny.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Dude. You weren't even there when it happened, I don't think.
- 53:21Speaker 11: Dude.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Dude.
- 53:23Speaker 7: I was still dude-ing for like hours later.
- 53:26Speaker 8: You still walk past it.
- 53:27Speaker 9: Dude.
- 53:29Speaker 7: He hangs by the bed. What are you talking about?
- 53:30Speaker 7: I just sit and stare at it.
- 53:32Speaker 8: If you've missed the previous episodes, yeah. She is the
- 53:34Speaker 8: owner of a velvet Kenny Rogers.
- 53:36Speaker 7: And a velvet Willie Nelson. And a velvet Elvis. So
- 53:40Speaker 7: if anybody out there could score me a velvet Conway Twitty,
- 53:43Speaker 7: I will be as indebted to you as Richie is
- 53:45Speaker 7: to Jay for the Four.
- 53:46Speaker 8: Horsemen of the Apartment.
- 53:46Speaker 6: Or a velvet Dolly Parton.
- 53:48Speaker 7: That'd be pretty rowdy too.
- 53:49Speaker 8: That would be awesome.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Patsy.
- 53:51Speaker 6: Or who else did you want?
- 53:55Speaker 7: Conway Twitty.
- 53:56Speaker 8: Conway Twitty.
- 53:57Speaker 6: Or a velvet George Jones.
- 53:59Speaker 7: That would be pretty rowdy.
- 53:59Speaker 6: That would be pretty cool. We got a George Jones clock,
- 54:01Speaker 6: so that one's pretty cool.
- 54:02Speaker 7: That is amazing. It's Deco Posture, I think.
- 54:04Speaker 5: Deco Posture, George Jones clock.
- 54:06Speaker 8: These are very special items you have here at the Bastion.
- 54:10Speaker 6: You bought that on the day he died.
- 54:11Speaker 7: I did. Did I?
- 54:13Speaker 6: Yes, you did.
- 54:13Speaker 3: I did.
- 54:16Speaker 8: Not even going there. We were just having to be
- 54:19Speaker 8: out at Heller's.
- 54:20Speaker 5: Mall and he passed away that morning and she found
- 54:23Speaker 5: the George Jones clock.
- 54:26Speaker 8: The spirit of George coming to you.
- 54:28Speaker 7: It's the album of who's going to fill their shoes
- 54:31Speaker 7: on the day that he passed away. Which is a
- 54:34Speaker 7: song about country singers passing away.
- 54:38Speaker 6: She held it up. She goes, do we need this?
- 54:41Speaker 6: And I was like, Yeah, we need that.
- 54:43Speaker 7: And then I was like, oh, it's $ 15. Fucking A,
- 54:46Speaker 7: it's 50% off. We are getting this shit.
- 54:49Speaker 8: And then a twitchy garbage bag clad George Jones started
- 54:53Speaker 8: hanging around you.
- 54:54Speaker 7: I wouldn't mind. He's pretty cool.
- 54:58Speaker 8: I also like, well, again, if you want to think
- 55:02Speaker 8: about it too much, the fact that he describes it
- 55:04Speaker 8: as the physical or metaphysical tangent that they're on. Like,
- 55:07Speaker 8: all right, that does explain the story. But I like
- 55:10Speaker 8: it better that they, in this little version of the tangent,
- 55:13Speaker 8: they were using that as the reason to screw.
- 55:16Speaker 7: Well, yeah.
- 55:18Speaker 8: Well, I mean, we're on a metaphysical tangent. So, number one,
- 55:22Speaker 8: I mean, this ain't gonna matter. Let's go ahead and
- 55:24Speaker 8: get it on. And number two, we better hurry up
- 55:27Speaker 8: because we might disappear soon.
- 55:29Speaker 7: And did they do it in April?
- 55:30Speaker 15: Hotel pool yes no I was like well more than
- 55:34Speaker 15: that I was like even in the water I guess
- 55:36Speaker 15: people couldn't see but then they were just hanging out
- 55:38Speaker 15: in the chairs I'm like did they just do it
- 55:40Speaker 15: on like because the whole thing.
- 55:41Speaker 13: Is set up as like the old school cheesy like
- 55:44Speaker 13: the old motel motel yeah like all of the rooms
- 55:48Speaker 13: go around the balcony and it all looks down on
- 55:52Speaker 13: the pool.
- 55:52Speaker 7: So I'm like, I don't think anybody was there.
- 55:54Speaker 8: Did you just do it in front of the entire motel?
- 55:55Speaker 7: Because she kept banging on doors and nobody was answering.
- 55:57Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:58Speaker 5: It seemed kind of abandoned.
- 56:03Speaker 8: Like our other movie cliche moment.
- 56:05Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 56:06Speaker 8: As we later get to the hospital. It's another one
- 56:08Speaker 8: of those, I've thought that before and you said the
- 56:10Speaker 8: same thing. You're just like, How come in movies nobody's
- 56:13Speaker 8: ever in the hospital?
- 56:14Speaker 5: They aren't. I've never been to a hospital where it's empty.
- 56:18Speaker 8: In horror, half the time it is like a weird
- 56:20Speaker 8: dream sequence or something. But once you get into this,
- 56:23Speaker 8: it's like, no, that wasn't really a dream. It's a
- 56:25Speaker 8: tangent reality, I suppose. But still, it seems like in
- 56:29Speaker 8: any hospital.
- 56:30Speaker 7: Maybe she never woke up from being drugged.
- 56:32Speaker 8: It's all in her mind. Maybe. Now you're right back
- 56:35Speaker 8: to the part that I thought was stupid.
- 56:37Speaker 3: Which part?
- 56:38Speaker 2: With movies.
- 56:39Speaker 8: When we watch the whole thing, and it's just all
- 56:40Speaker 8: happening in their mind.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:43Speaker 8: But, yeah, I don't know. That, again, is just such
- 56:46Speaker 8: a movie cliche.
- 56:46Speaker 6: It's every movie, though. I mean, just about every single movie,
- 56:50Speaker 6: the hospital is just completely abandoned.
- 56:53Speaker 8: Like, not even anybody at the desk. No, nobody at
- 56:55Speaker 8: the nurse's station. Nobody roaming the halls. Maybe if it's
- 56:58Speaker 8: the middle of the night. But even that's unusual if
- 57:00Speaker 8: you go to a hospital. There's somebody stumbling down the halls.
- 57:02Speaker 8: There's somebody in the hallway. Some nurse making rounds.
- 57:05Speaker 7: Some nurse playing solitaire on the computer behind the desk.
- 57:08Speaker 8: When she gets to... That man's playing Galaga. When she
- 57:14Speaker 8: gets to the desk and there's not even anybody at
- 57:17Speaker 8: the desk. I was like, what hospital is this? Because
- 57:19Speaker 8: I do not want to stay there.
- 57:20Speaker 5: And she's rifling around in the files.
- 57:23Speaker 8: Like, I don't think that's legal. You stay out of
- 57:26Speaker 8: those files.
- 57:26Speaker 7: They're personal.
- 57:28Speaker 8: The other thing I was going to give credit for, though,
- 57:31Speaker 8: is the... Go back to our director here, Tyler Oliver. Because, like,
- 57:36Speaker 8: watching it, like, again, for a guy who hadn't directed
- 57:40Speaker 8: movies before... Was this his first movie? Hadn't... He's not
- 57:44Speaker 8: really a big name.
- 57:45Speaker 10: The.
- 57:46Speaker 8: Like, the shots are... Like, you get several. Like, early on,
- 57:50Speaker 8: when we get to the, you know, as much as
- 57:51Speaker 8: I don't like anybody in that party... That shot at
- 57:54Speaker 8: the beginning, like, it just goes.
- 57:56Speaker 6: Through the party.
- 57:57Speaker 8: Yeah, that's a good shot. The entire thing is tracking
- 57:59Speaker 8: through the party, around people, goes in a room, comes
- 58:02Speaker 8: back out of that room, loops around the couch. Like,
- 58:05Speaker 8: the whole thing is really well shot for, you know,
- 58:08Speaker 8: a cheesy horror movie. That part's pretty well put together.
- 58:11Speaker 8: And then, like, a few minutes later when they get
- 58:13Speaker 8: to the graveyard and you see, like, the first time
- 58:15Speaker 8: all the kids start playing and it starts following all
- 58:19Speaker 8: of them through the graveyard. It's, again, just, like, pretty
- 58:22Speaker 8: creative shots. for a cheesy horror movie and i'm like
- 58:26Speaker 8: for a guy who i guess hadn't done much at
- 58:28Speaker 8: the time because i don't remember hearing about him and
- 58:30Speaker 8: then i looked him up this is pretty much his
- 58:32Speaker 8: only movie yeah he's listed as this and the same
- 58:36Speaker 8: year he's co-director of a documentary kenny ray fairly release
- 58:43Speaker 8: which sounds like something that probably never saw the light
- 58:45Speaker 8: of day doesn't even have a poster So in my mind,
- 58:49Speaker 8: he made one movie. And yeah, kind of impressively shot
- 58:53Speaker 8: for somebody who hadn't made a movie before and looks
- 58:56Speaker 8: like hasn't made a movie since. So I don't know.
- 59:00Speaker 8: I thought that was kind of weird. I guess he
- 59:02Speaker 8: moved on to just cinematographer because he did a couple
- 59:07Speaker 8: of shorts in like the early 2000s. And now he
- 59:11Speaker 8: worked on a movie in 2005. So that's the last
- 59:14Speaker 8: thing he's done even before that. Maybe he's a ghost now.
- 59:18Speaker 8: That might be it.
- 59:23Speaker 7: They're running around all jittery.
- 59:25Speaker 8: That's why I can't make a movie anymore. The camera
- 59:28Speaker 8: jumps all around. Does it stop some people?
- 59:33Speaker 7: It didn't stop the Cloverfield man.
- 59:35Speaker 8: T.J. Miller. I don't think he actually shot.
- 59:39Speaker 10: It.
- 59:39Speaker 7: I'm surprised I haven't seen any of these other people
- 59:41Speaker 7: in anything else since then. It's been quite some time.
- 59:43Speaker 7: Aside from Bella Thorne.
- 59:45Speaker 8: Yeah. She became the breakout and that's because she was
- 59:48Speaker 8: such a kid that she's had time to turn in
- 59:50Speaker 8: a actual career sense.
- 59:51Speaker 7: But usually you end up seeing people turn up in
- 59:53Speaker 7: more horror movies or more you know along the same
- 59:56Speaker 7: line to get killed off horribly.
- 59:59Speaker 8: I think like even like maybe not the other slutty
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: girls but like either our main girl or the brother
- 1:00:03Speaker 8: like the brother was pretty likable and like the kind
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: of guy you remember like immediately I was just like
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: I know that guy from something so it seems like
- 1:00:10Speaker 8: that would get him cast in.
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: More things he was the one from Hannah Montana I
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: know that's why I know him he was Jake Ryan.
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: But he was the rock star that she was dating I.
- 1:00:17Speaker 7: Don't remember really I kind of do sadly I.
- 1:00:19Speaker 8: Do But she, yeah, I mean, just those kind of people,
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: like you think they would sort of get, at least
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: get roped into the horror world and turn up in
- 1:00:26Speaker 8: a whole bunch of other horror movies.
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: And I'm pretty sure her boyfriend was Bobby Briggs' older brother.
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: He looked like him. They resembled each other. His hair
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: wasn't as floppy and he wasn't near as pretty, but
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: they did look like they had a relation in some way.
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: Older brother in what time? Like when Twin Peaks was
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: a new thing?
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: He could be like, yeah.
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: This is a tangent timeline.
- 1:00:45Speaker 7: Yeah. He does. He looks like he could be the
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: Bobby Briggs from Twin Peaks back in the days. Older brother.
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: I don't know. Anything else?
- 1:00:57Speaker 7: I liked this movie. I was pleasantly surprised.
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: For as cliche as many things are, as bad as
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: those effects are once we get to the trash bag
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: duct tape ghosts, I still kind of like it. And
- 1:01:09Speaker 8: I still like the weird way that it plays out.
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: And I think it is sort of original, the The
- 1:01:15Speaker 8: way that it maps out the alternate timelines and how
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: it just immediately kicks back and takes people out of
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: the loop and nobody else knows who they are. And
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: I think that's creepy and sort of well done. So, again,
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: why this dude didn't make some more movies, I don't know.
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: He had potential. It's the only thing he wrote, too.
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: He's not even writing anything else. What the hell's wrong
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: with you?
- 1:01:37Speaker 7: Are we sure he's still alive?
- 1:01:38Speaker 8: Did you, Tyler? Tyler, if you're out there, dude, email us.
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: Let us know what's going on. Are you okay?
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: Are you a ghost?
- 1:01:47Speaker 8: Do you need us to come rescue you? Are you
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: being held hostage? Maybe he's one of those people that's
- 1:01:52Speaker 8: like tied up in somebody's basement and has been since 2009.
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: It's a good possibility. All they give him to entertain
- 1:01:58Speaker 8: himself is podcasts. So if you're listening, Tyler.
- 1:02:01Speaker 7: We care.
- 1:02:02Speaker 8: We care. We miss you. And break free and get
- 1:02:06Speaker 8: their phone and send us a text. Or call 911.
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: I mean, mostly you should email us first.
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:12Speaker 8: Then call 911. Get yourself free. And then go make
- 1:02:15Speaker 8: some more movies.
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: Because it can't be no worse than half the show
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: that gets turned out now. Yeah, I don't think I
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: have anything else. I like this movie. I thought it
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: was fun. Two thumbs up. Some of the effects were cheesy.
- 1:02:26Speaker 7: But that's okay because it's still kind of fun. As
- 1:02:28Speaker 7: long as you don't look too much into it and
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: try to like, is that duct tape? Is that plastic bags?
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: Just be like, oh, that's creepy. And you'll be okay.
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: I'm telling you, that's the cheesiest part. I feel like
- 1:02:37Speaker 8: the rest of it falls into normal horror movie. Even
- 1:02:40Speaker 8: the cheesy... Some of the slutty girls are not the
- 1:02:43Speaker 8: best actresses in the world, but it all kind of
- 1:02:45Speaker 8: works like a normal level horror movie, cheesy acting. It's
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: all good, but like, yeah.
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: I'm a pirate.
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: See, again, that stuff is pretty funny. His drunken ramblings
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: about being a pirate, and then the fact that it
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: comes up like two more times. Like, I'm a pirate.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: I'm a pirate.
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: It's a treasure chest.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: A treasure map, sorry.
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: It's a treasure map. Yeah. Whatever that drawing was, he
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: made use of it.
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: In the nasty hotel pool water.
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: Or on the sidewalk in front of God and everyone.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Grody.
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: At least it wasn't in a BP bath.
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: But in the long run, she died.
- 1:03:28Speaker 8: On the bright side, she quickly died.
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: I'm just saying, so that way, it erased all that.
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: So it never happened. So whatever STD he got... It's gone.
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: It's gone.
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: But he's dead anyway, isn't he?
- 1:03:40Speaker 8: Un-STD'd it, so it's fine.
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: A lot of those deaths probably did un-STD a lot.
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: Of people in the real world. They were all pretty
- 1:03:47Speaker 8: damn creepy.
- 1:03:50Speaker 7: That Chad guy alone probably un.
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: That was like all of them. That was all the STDs.
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: His demise probably cleaned up a good quarter of that
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: city's population.
- 1:04:00Speaker 10: Chad?
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: He was sleeping with everybody.
- 1:04:02Speaker 8: Exactly. Suddenly the free clinics or the hospital just deserted. Like,
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: where's all those girls that were in here getting.
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: That candy striper's okay now.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: Yeah, that poor girl.
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: Now she's all right.
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: So with that, kids, just say no to STDs.
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: Say no to people named Chad.
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: That too. Try not to be so slutty or dress
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: yourself in garbage bags and duct tape.
- 1:04:32Speaker 7: That's going to be my Halloween costume this year.
- 1:04:36Speaker 8: What are you talking about? I will be impressed the
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: person who gets it. You have to have a giant mouth,
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: garbage bags, and duct tape. It'll be like, dude, forgive
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: me not.
- 1:04:43Speaker 7: That movie's awesome.
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: Paint your face gray, too.
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: Yeah. Do some stripes on your lips or whatever that
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: chick had going on.
- 1:04:52Speaker 7: Good times.
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: That it has been. So with that, I say we
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: wrap it up.
- 1:04:57Speaker 7: Wrap this shit on up and duct tape.
- 1:04:59Speaker 8: Oh, I thought about that. We will return next time.
- 1:05:02Speaker 8: Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:05:04Speaker 10: Bye.
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: Bye.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: Ghosts in the graveyard Now run and hide Or join
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: her At the devil's side Ghosts in the graveyard Clocks
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: will chime Forgotten souls Erased.
- 1:05:34Speaker 11: By time The night comes, it's not.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: Too late Kill.
- 1:05:47Speaker 10: The ghost or seal your fate Forget me not It's
- 1:05:53Speaker 10: just a game Flowers for the dead Don't you forget
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: It's not too late Flowers on the grave Do you remember?
- 1:06:11Speaker 10: You will remember her For, for, forget me not Ghosts
- 1:06:25Speaker 10: in the shadows Run through the mist Once you're touched.
- 1:06:34Speaker 11: You won't exist.
- 1:06:39Speaker 10: Run through the darkness Scream in your head Hold your
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: breath And now you're dead Midnight comes, it's not too
- 1:07:00Speaker 10: late Kill the ghost or seal your fate.
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: Don't give me night.
- 1:07:11Speaker 10: It's just a game. Flowers for the dead. Don't you forget.
- 1:07:19Speaker 10: It's not too late. Flowers on the grave.
- 1:07:25Speaker 11: Do you remember?
- 1:07:29Speaker 10: You will remember her.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Boy.
- 1:07:36Speaker 10: Forgive me. It's just a game. It's not too late.
- 1:07:46Speaker 10: Kill the ghost or seal your fate. Flowers for the dead,
- 1:08:00Speaker 10: forget me not.
- 1:08:01Speaker 7: Flowers on the grave, do you remember? There is just one.
- 1:08:13Speaker 10: Flowers for the dead Don't you forget It's not too
- 1:08:21Speaker 10: late Flowers on the grave Do you remember It's just
- 1:08:29Speaker 10: a game Flowers for the dead Don't you forget It's
- 1:08:35Speaker 10: not too late Flowers on the grave.
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: I don't know, but he just, like, lays on a
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: bed in the hotel room and thinks about her. And, like,
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: he suddenly goes back in time.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: And I'm like.
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: but.
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: But it's, like, a real thing. He didn't have a
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: flux capacitor.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: He went to his.
- 1:09:05Speaker 8: Yeah, I was like, where is the flux capacitor? He
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: went to, like, his professor that wrote, like, this big
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: thesis on time travel. And, like, that was the way
- 1:09:13Speaker 8: he said to do it. Like, it really was, like,
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: their whole theory on time travel was just go to
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: the place you want to be. You have to be
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: dressed time-appropriate.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: No!
- 1:09:27Speaker 8: That's not time travel. There's no lightning. There's no 88
- 1:09:31Speaker 8: miles an hour.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: There's no 1.21 gigawatts.
- 1:09:34Speaker 8: 1.21 gigawatts. Plutonium, damn it. Libyans. There has to be
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: a Liby.
