- 0:14Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I think the free internet music is kind of, it's
- 0:16Speaker 2: kind of, you know, appealing to me now.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I think I've gotten used to it.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Jenny here from Laughs Unlimited. I am here today with Patrick.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Is it Dagiri?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Is that right? Dagir.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Dagir. Dagir.
- 0:30Speaker 2: The gear hello patrick how are you doing.
- 0:33Speaker 1: How are you doing i'm doing good.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Staying in trouble always yep we uh we have a
- 0:40Speaker 3: date coming up at laughs unlimited but it occurs to
- 0:43Speaker 3: me this is your first headlining date at laughs like
- 0:46Speaker 3: a hurt first headlining.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Weekend yes i'm i'm excited you know one of the
- 0:53Speaker 4: first clubs that i ever performed at um was laughs
- 0:59Speaker 4: and limited.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And I'm thinking this must have been.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Late, late nineties, early, early two thousands when it was
- 1:09Speaker 5: obviously under different ownership.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And I remember opening, I think his name was Ronnie Kenny. Okay.
- 1:17Speaker 5: I'm not sure if that name sounds familiar, but back
- 1:19Speaker 5: in the day, the owner had a house that the
- 1:24Speaker 5: comics would stay at. And there was even a car
- 1:28Speaker 5: for the comics to use, which obviously, with my loss
- 1:31Speaker 5: of vision, I wasn't able to use.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Right. Okay. But it was a piece of junk. I
- 1:39Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I think somebody else's car is a great time to try, no?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Love it.
- 1:46Speaker 5: But I had a lot of good fun.
- 1:50Speaker 1: And then I came out to your club last year.
- 1:55Speaker 5: I did a spot on someone's show and it was
- 2:01Speaker 5: nice to be back.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I think it was Jimmy Earl's show, right?
- 2:04Speaker 1: Looking forward to coming out. That was with Jimmy Earl, right? Yeah, yeah. Nice, yes, yes.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It's going to be a lot of fun.
- 2:14Speaker 2: The things that I know about you most is you
- 2:16Speaker 2: have like a huge tour that you do overseas for
- 2:21Speaker 2: the troops.
- 2:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I've been putting together comedy shows, comedy tours for
- 2:27Speaker 5: the troops for 20 plus years. I was just in
- 2:33Speaker 5: Alaska and then we were supposed to.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Go to Greenland and it got canceled because of weather.
- 2:40Speaker 5: So we're going back in March. And then before Alaska,
- 2:44Speaker 5: I was in the Middle East and we had to
- 2:48Speaker 5: cut the tour short because of what was going on
- 2:52Speaker 5: out there. We were coming back from Jordan to Qatar
- 2:57Speaker 5: and I get a call telling me the base is
- 3:00Speaker 5: being evacuated. So just hang tight when you get to
- 3:04Speaker 5: Qatar and then we'll fly you out to Djibouti. But
- 3:07Speaker 5: things started getting really, really hot. So I was told,
- 3:12Speaker 5: you know what? We don't want you to get stuck
- 3:14Speaker 5: in Qatar. Plus, we're not on a base anymore because
- 3:18Speaker 5: the base has been evacuated.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So let's just get you home and we'll you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: do it again sometime in the future. And that's crazy.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I love that. All the, you travel all over the
- 3:31Speaker 2: place and, and you do comedy and all of this.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And unless you say it, what you talk about, I
- 3:39Speaker 2: think in your comedy a bit, and it's on your bio,
- 3:41Speaker 2: you wouldn't even know like loss of vision and whatever. It's,
- 3:46Speaker 2: it's not stopping you from doing any of that. Like
- 3:49Speaker 2: you've been more, I love that.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You know what, Jenny?
- 3:54Speaker 5: Know what's so funny like and and i know we've
- 3:57Speaker 5: ran into each other here and there and and i
- 3:59Speaker 5: don't have the cni dog or the cane and and
- 4:04Speaker 5: i think a lot of times people think you know
- 4:07Speaker 5: what you're you're full of it you you you got
- 4:09Speaker 5: vision but if you're on tour with me for a
- 4:13Speaker 5: week or two Yeah, you start to realize, wait a minute. Yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 5: this guy, he's messed up.
- 4:21Speaker 2: There'll be many moments where it'll be like, yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Ask Carlos. I was going to say, I know Carlos
- 4:29Speaker 1: has told me about it.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, how many times he was helping me fill out forms.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, and recently married, I heard. Yeah. Helping set
- 4:38Speaker 1: up your... Married on July 26th.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And then I.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Left on July 31st and I took off to Guam, Japan,
- 4:56Speaker 5: South Korea. And I think there might've been one other place,
- 5:01Speaker 5: but yeah, I was home for about five days and
- 5:02Speaker 5: then I took off.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Without her. Without her.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Yep.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yep. That's comedy for you. And that's why.
- 5:09Speaker 2: That's why I'm on my second marriage.
- 5:16Speaker 5: But you know what? I, I, I, I think the
- 5:19Speaker 5: most important thing is, is communication. And look, she understands
- 5:24Speaker 5: this is what I do. And Jenny, if I'm home
- 5:27Speaker 5: for too long, I get restless. And I think a
- 5:30Speaker 5: lot of comedians definitely understand this.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 5: And, um, you know, I think what I'm doing, performing
- 5:37Speaker 5: for the troops, it's, it's very, very special. And, um,
- 5:43Speaker 5: You know, look, I'm out there hustling, making money for
- 5:46Speaker 5: the family, and at the same time, you know, doing
- 5:50Speaker 5: something that I think is very, very special.
- 5:53Speaker 1: That's awesome. That's great. And I agree 100%.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And I think that we should start filing comedian in
- 6:00Speaker 2: the category with pilot and firefighter. You know, if you
- 6:04Speaker 2: want to be married part-time, marry a comedian. Yeah. A
- 6:09Speaker 2: lot of time where you get to be single and then,
- 6:11Speaker 2: you know, they come in and you're married for a
- 6:13Speaker 2: few days and then they go off again. I think
- 6:15Speaker 2: that's a great, great strategy. We should market that part-time relationships.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I think we need to set up a dating.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Site for that.
- 6:27Speaker 5: But yeah, and I tell you this too, Jenny, and
- 6:30Speaker 5: for your listeners, and I mean this sincerely, I think
- 6:33Speaker 5: some of the most appreciative audiences that you'll ever perform
- 6:38Speaker 5: in front of are military. When you do a comedy club,
- 6:44Speaker 5: people want to laugh, right? But when you go overseas,
- 6:48Speaker 5: they need to laugh. And I tell you what, some
- 6:52Speaker 5: of the most appreciative people that you'll ever perform in
- 6:57Speaker 5: front of. I mean, it's such an honor to be
- 7:00Speaker 5: able to do what I do. I don't take it
- 7:02Speaker 5: for granted.
- 7:04Speaker 1: And yeah. That's awesome. That's great.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And you get to travel and You don't always go
- 7:09Speaker 2: to the most exotic places, but you can say you've
- 7:13Speaker 2: quote unquote seen the world.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I mean, Oh yeah. I mean, Jenny, if you look
- 7:17Speaker 1: at my bio and you look at the list of countries, yeah,
- 7:21Speaker 1: it's amazing. It's awesome. Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I mean, from the Bahamas, Caribbean to Iraq, Kuwait, I mean,
- 7:27Speaker 5: and everything in between.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So yeah, that's so cool. Well, perfect.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That's a, that's our getting to know you part of
- 7:34Speaker 2: the podcast. And now we get to, The good to know.
- 7:39Speaker 2: So are you ready for a little bit of trivia?
- 7:41Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do it. All right. Okay.
- 7:43Speaker 2: How are you at trivia? Are you a trivia buff?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Are you a fan?
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm good with history and good in sports. Okay.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Well, we have a little mix of everything, and you
- 7:55Speaker 2: see we've got a little scoreboard here at the bottom.
- 7:59Speaker 2: It's not me against you. It looks like that, but
- 8:02Speaker 2: it's just how many you got and how many you missed.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Okay.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Okay. So first question is what's the fourth number in pi?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Seven. It is one. Oh, okay.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Math is not my. That's okay. That's okay. They're not
- 8:23Speaker 1: all math.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Funny story is the next one is kind of math related.
- 8:27Speaker 2: So how many ounces are in a pound? 16.
- 8:32Speaker 1: 16. Yeah. See, there you go.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Woo. One in one.
- 8:36Speaker 1: All right.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Name three artists that have performed at the Superbowl.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Um, Janet Jackson, um, with Justin Timberlake, um, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, um,
- 8:54Speaker 5: Eminem and then bad bunny.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Yep.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Then the most recent one. Yeah. Which, which of those
- 9:00Speaker 1: performances was your favorite? Oh, come on. You need to
- 9:04Speaker 1: go old school with Dre and Snoop.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 1: That was a great half-time show. Oh, yes.
- 9:11Speaker 2: It definitely appealed to a generation of music that, yes,
- 9:17Speaker 2: was great.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Next question is who is on the $ 2 bill?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Hamilton. Wait. Okay. One is Washington. Five is Lincoln. Hamilton.
- 9:36Speaker 2: It's Thomas Jefferson.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Damn it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Hamilton is on something, though. Is it the $ 10 bill?
- 9:43Speaker 2: He's on one of them, I think. Who's on the
- 9:48Speaker 2: $ 2 bill again? $ 2 bill is Thomas Jefferson, yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Okay, okay. Now you know. See, good to know. Good
- 9:58Speaker 1: to know.
- 10:00Speaker 2: All right, what instrument does Animal play from the Muppets?
- 10:07Speaker 1: Ooh, good one. The horn? No, he plays the drums. Damn.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I know.
- 10:23Speaker 2: I thought it was the sax, but that's the Carlos
- 10:26Speaker 2: who does the sax?
- 10:29Speaker 6: I think it's the big guy with the big jaws.
- 10:32Speaker 6: I think his name is Lockjaw or something like that.
- 10:34Speaker 6: And then Ralph, the dog.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Ralph is the one. Yeah, he plays piano.
- 10:40Speaker 2: All right.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Next question.
- 10:41Speaker 2: So we're at five so far and you've got two
- 10:45Speaker 2: out of five. Where is the Mona Lisa located?
- 10:51Speaker 1: That has to be the Louvre in Paris. Yes.
- 10:55Speaker 2: All right.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Three for three.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Three and three. You're getting there. Here's another gimme. You
- 11:01Speaker 2: got this one. Who invented the telephone?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Bell. Yep. Graham Bell. Yep. Alexander Graham Bell. Yep.
- 11:10Speaker 2: We'll give that one to you. What was the name
- 11:14Speaker 2: of Dave Chappelle's first comedy special?
- 11:25Speaker 1: If I don't get this, I'm not a comedian. And
- 11:29Speaker 1: you know what? I don't know. I have no idea.
- 11:34Speaker 1: So I guess I'll be coming out to Sacramento and
- 11:37Speaker 1: doing the open mics.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Well, we do open mics first and third Tuesday every month. Oh, fantastic.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Apparently, I have an opening now, February 27th and 28th.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Where the headliner used to be Patrick DeGere.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I don't know. It was called Killing Them Softly. Okay.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I hate it when it's something you think you should
- 12:07Speaker 2: know and you're like, yeah, I didn't even know it
- 12:08Speaker 2: after you told me either.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I wasn't anywhere close to that. All right.
- 12:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Well, hopefully we'll give you an easier one. What's the
- 12:18Speaker 2: capital of Louisiana?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Baton Rouge.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Baton Rouge. Yeah, there we go.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Okay. Redeeming yourself here.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So you're still five to four. So you're five out
- 12:32Speaker 2: of nine. Last question. What model number of iPhone did
- 12:38Speaker 2: Apple skip?
- 12:43Speaker 6: You forgot it's Final Jeopardy, too. You can wager points,
- 12:46Speaker 6: but no.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's a guess, two.
- 12:59Speaker 2: No. Good thing we didn't let you wager any of
- 13:01Speaker 2: your points. They went from eight to the iPhone X
- 13:07Speaker 2: to celebrate the 10th year anniversary.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Okay. So they skipped the iPhone 9.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Wait, so the question, Jenny, is what's the average most
- 13:16Speaker 5: comedians get?
- 13:19Speaker 1: On the trivia? Yeah. Let's see.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I mean, it's between like 5 and 7. I think
- 13:27Speaker 2: this is average. You're not below average.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I'm just happy when you get on the board. I
- 13:35Speaker 2: would hate to see a big old goose egg and
- 13:37Speaker 2: be like, wow. What do you know then? I mean,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I like to say that comics are very intelligent people.
- 13:47Speaker 2: You have to be to be as quick-witted.
- 13:49Speaker 1: As you guys are.
- 13:51Speaker 2: But when you're doing trivia across the board, you can't
- 13:55Speaker 2: be knowledgeable in everything all the time. Unless it's comedy specials.
- 14:02Speaker 1: That's right. Good one, Jenny. Good one.
- 14:08Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Well, let's see.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Is there anything exciting things coming up for you or
- 14:15Speaker 2: anything exciting that happened?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Let me see. In May, I'll be doing another tour.
- 14:24Speaker 5: I'm going to Japan, Korea, and I believe Singapore with
- 14:31Speaker 5: Paul Ogata and Adam Hunter. I was just on Comics Unleashed.
- 14:39Speaker 5: I don't even know the name of my own comedy
- 14:44Speaker 5: show I was on. No, I was on Comics Unleashed
- 14:48Speaker 5: last week.
- 14:51Speaker 1: On Monday the 2nd. I guess that's, yeah. That was
- 14:56Speaker 1: a lot of fun. I was very, very happy with
- 15:00Speaker 1: what I did. Good. I'm thinking what else, what else,
- 15:03Speaker 1: what else? I mean, working the road a bit more
- 15:08Speaker 1: as of late.
- 15:11Speaker 5: You know, starting to look at doing some more motivational
- 15:16Speaker 5: speaking comedy for the different blind organizations out there. To
- 15:22Speaker 5: be honest, it happens a lot within the blind community.
- 15:28Speaker 5: And I was hoping to do a show in Las Vegas.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Las Vegas.
- 15:33Speaker 5: It's called Sagebrush. And I was hoping to bring out Carlos.
- 15:36Speaker 5: But there wasn't room, budget, whatever. So I'm hoping I
- 15:41Speaker 5: can do it next year. But I'm trying to get
- 15:44Speaker 5: more involved within the blind community. I think it's often
- 15:48Speaker 5: a forgotten community.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, hustling, doing what I can do.
- 15:55Speaker 1: That's awesome. That's awesome.
- 15:57Speaker 2: And I love that there's more travels on the horizon, too.
- 16:00Speaker 1: So that's perfect.
- 16:02Speaker 2: And then you'll be at Laughs Unlimited this month.
- 16:05Speaker 1: The 27th and 28th. The 27th and the 28th.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yes. So very exciting there. Get your tickets now, laughsunlimited.com.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Thank you so much for taking the time today.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Thank you so much for having me and giving me
- 16:21Speaker 5: the opportunity to come out to Laughs. Um, I'm definitely
- 16:25Speaker 5: looking at looking forward to it again. I was out
- 16:28Speaker 5: there many, many years ago. It definitely has meaning, um,
- 16:34Speaker 5: to me.
- 16:35Speaker 1: That's so awesome. Yeah. So you were, so were you
- 16:39Speaker 1: in the same location? Yes.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You know where it is now?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Is that where it was? Okay.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Cause I know that it's, it was always in old Sacramento,
- 16:46Speaker 2: but it moved from, uh, the alley, uh, Up to
- 16:50Speaker 2: where it is.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:52Speaker 5: And when I stepped in, when I was out there
- 16:55Speaker 5: last year, you know, you have those wooden pillars.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah. It was definitely nostalgic. You feel like, I remember that.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I ran into it last time, too.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 5: You know, the people listening should come out to the
- 17:13Speaker 5: show to see if I fall off the stage.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not going to say it won't hurt,
- 17:21Speaker 2: but it's not the tallest stage I've seen, so it
- 17:24Speaker 2: could be worse.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Let's have some fun. That's funny.
- 17:30Speaker 6: I just got one thing, though, real quick. Because I
- 17:32Speaker 6: was telling Jenny this when we were on the trip
- 17:35Speaker 6: about the burial thing.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Did you ever feel that? Yes. What did Jenny think?
- 17:46Speaker 1: He said to ask you about it. You were going
- 17:48Speaker 1: to tell me.
- 17:49Speaker 6: Go ahead.
- 17:52Speaker 1: So I'm married now.
- 17:56Speaker 5: When I went with Carlos to Australia and other places,
- 18:03Speaker 5: I believe I was engaged at that time. And my
- 18:07Speaker 5: kids were telling me, Dad, if you die before you
- 18:11Speaker 5: get married, we want to bury you next to mom.
- 18:16Speaker 5: And my fiance, girlfriend at the time, said, if you
- 18:20Speaker 5: get buried next to your ex, I'm not going to
- 18:24Speaker 5: visit you whatsoever.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And I'm like, but we're not married yet. And how
- 18:30Speaker 1: could you do this? And I mean, it was it
- 18:33Speaker 1: got into a pretty good discussion. Thankfully, I'm married. Oh, that's.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Well, thankfully you didn't die before you got married.
- 18:48Speaker 1: But yeah. So it was a good, good question. What
- 18:52Speaker 1: do you think, Jenny?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Oh, I hope whoever's in charge cremates me and throws
- 18:58Speaker 2: me wherever they want. It matters not to me. I
- 19:02Speaker 2: will be gone from this body, so they can do
- 19:05Speaker 2: whatever they'd like with me. Whatever.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:07Speaker 6: I mean.
- 19:09Speaker 1: That's a good way out of it.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I hope they don't drop them at Laughs Unlimited. And
- 19:17Speaker 2: if they do, I will haunt all of your asses.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Love it. I'll boo you from the great beyond. I
- 19:27Speaker 1: love it.
- 19:28Speaker 6: Also, too, Patrick, because you're the modern day Brady Bunch,
- 19:33Speaker 6: you guys have how many kids between you and what
- 19:35Speaker 6: are the age ranges?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Eight kids. I have four.
- 19:38Speaker 5: Raimi has four. Blended, five boys, three girls. And Jenny,
- 19:43Speaker 5: there is so much material. Just so much material. So,
- 19:51Speaker 5: you know, I've been working on a bunch of different bits,
- 19:54Speaker 5: you know, because I'm the one that has to pick
- 19:57Speaker 5: up my daughter from, stepdaughter from elementary school. And if
- 20:03Speaker 5: I'm not able to pick her up, it's her dad.
- 20:05Speaker 5: But when her dad picks her up, He's picking her
- 20:08Speaker 5: up in a luxury car with a hot Happy Meal.
- 20:12Speaker 5: And I can't do that because I have to walk
- 20:17Speaker 5: about a mile, mile and a half to her elementary school.
- 20:22Speaker 5: And I remember one time it was really, really hot.
- 20:25Speaker 5: And I thought I would do something nice and get
- 20:27Speaker 5: her a Popsicle. but it started to melt, so I
- 20:30Speaker 5: had to run and nothing looks more gay than running
