- 0:36Speaker 2: is here with me. You know, Chris, he's been with
- 0:38Speaker 2: here for a while. He used to be on this
- 0:41Speaker 2: show regularly, and I'm really surprised people are forgetting this.
- 0:46Speaker 2: But he was on for a while and then he
- 0:48Speaker 2: wouldn't able to do it anymore because he wasn't getting paid.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And now he's back for a little bit and hopefully,
- 0:54Speaker 2: uh he'll be for till till what July fifth? You said,
- 1:00Speaker 2: July fifth is the last day I can work. That's
- 1:02Speaker 2: the Sunday. So yeah, well all right, July third, then, yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 2: it will be your last day. Then you're headed to Tampa, Florida,
- 1:09Speaker 2: which I'm very happy for you. So uh, anyway, but
- 1:12Speaker 2: hopefully we'll have somebody filling in after that. I don't uh,
- 1:16Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on here, but hopefully it'll
- 1:19Speaker 2: be a good news.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I'm hoping for that. Where Where's where exactly is your
- 1:24Speaker 1: house in Florida? Michael?
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's in Treasure Island. Where that over by Saint Petersburg. Okay,
- 1:29Speaker 2: you know where if you know where Saint Pete Beach is,
- 1:32Speaker 2: I'm the next beach up.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Okay, I'll come over there. Oh will you really? Yeah,
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'll pull up. Maybe you won't be invited. I mean,
- 1:39Speaker 1: you didn't have to advise me. I just said I
- 1:41Speaker 1: was coming. Oh so you're coming uninvited. Yeah, I'm unannounced
- 1:45Speaker 1: and UNINVITEDNA knock every on every single door, sell like
- 1:49Speaker 1: solar panels.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's exactly what I need, is that. The
- 1:54Speaker 2: good news is, uh, Mike, you have to have a
- 1:57Speaker 2: passcode to get into my neighborhood.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I mean, gates can be jumped over, okay, but you
- 2:02Speaker 1: can't drive in h But are you excited though, I'm
- 2:06Speaker 1: really excited. I you know, it was only a couple
- 2:09Speaker 1: of days. Obviously, I've been to Florida before. Well, i've
- 2:11Speaker 1: been in Florid a bunch of times. But right, I've
- 2:12Speaker 1: never been to the Lakeland, Tampa slash Saint Pete area.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I never been over there before, so I'd only been
- 2:18Speaker 1: there a couple of days. Uh when we went actually,
- 2:21Speaker 1: so we flew in on Friday and today. Yes, And
- 2:29Speaker 1: in downtown Lakeland, they had like their July or June
- 2:32Speaker 1: fifth Market of the Year or something like that. Ok.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And they had like hundreds of businesses and a bunch
- 2:38Speaker 1: of stuff going on in downtown. So we did that
- 2:39Speaker 1: all night, downtown Tampa, downtown Lakeland, Oh okay, and it
- 2:44Speaker 1: was really cool. It was really nice to go try
- 2:45Speaker 1: a bunch of different restaurants and that's nice. It was.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You know, the place that we found is in a
- 2:49Speaker 1: really nice area. It's kind of next to everything that
- 2:51Speaker 1: we need, so it's really convenient. And I love the weather.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I like it a lot better coming back and realizing
- 2:58Speaker 1: that it was ninety degrees down there and I was comfortable,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and then I get up here and it's like eighty one.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It feels like it's eight thousand degrees. It's just like, yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I can't wait to I can't wait to move. Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Well good, I'm glad that you're excited about it, because
- 3:10Speaker 2: you know, you got you got a lot of things
- 3:13Speaker 2: going in your life, and hopefully you'll get a radio
- 3:15Speaker 2: gig down there and we'll be able to hear you
- 3:18Speaker 2: from a distance. Even though you'll be in Florida, we'll
- 3:21Speaker 2: miss you up here in Kentucky. So butt a lot
- 3:25Speaker 2: of moving parts right now at this radio station. So
- 3:28Speaker 2: I and I'm not expecting you to say anything about it, Matthew,
- 3:31Speaker 2: but it's just it's just disappointing what's going on. But
- 3:34Speaker 2: hopefully positive things will come forth in the near future.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And I'm I'm hoping one big thing will happen pretty soon.
- 3:43Speaker 2: They need to just bite the bullet and make it happen.
- 3:47Speaker 2: That's all I can say. So because if it does happen,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I know a lot of us, including myself in a
- 3:53Speaker 2: big way, will be very happy. But anyway, we got
- 3:58Speaker 2: a big show today. It's it's Friday number one. I'm
- 4:02Speaker 2: always happy about that. You have big plans for the weekend.
- 4:06Speaker 1: By the way, Matthew, I'm going to a wedding on Sunday. Boring. Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I'm not very excited for it, but he is a
- 4:12Speaker 1: close friend of mine. So I'm gonna so you're going
- 4:14Speaker 1: to be in it. No, I'm not gonna be in
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm just going. He just oh, he's not that close
- 4:17Speaker 1: of a friend. I mean it's my it's my brother's
- 4:20Speaker 1: best friend, so grown up around him. But we're not
- 4:23Speaker 1: like super super close. Okay. Is he older than you?
- 4:27Speaker 1: Were younger than you? He's a year older than me. Okay,
- 4:29Speaker 1: but I have that on Sunday today, I'm watching the
- 4:33Speaker 1: United States play Saturday, I'm watching more. I'm just watching
- 4:36Speaker 1: the World Cup all weekend.
- 4:37Speaker 2: If really, yeah, I'd rather go to a multiple weddings
- 4:40Speaker 2: than watch the World Cup all weekend.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You can take my spot.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Really Now, that's you said he's a close friend. No,
- 4:47Speaker 2: I say he's my brother's close friend. Oh okay, well
- 4:49Speaker 2: I thought you said you were close friend. I mean
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm good friend. I'm friends with him.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Okay, all right, you want to say his name. His
- 4:56Speaker 1: name is Jonathan Ligan.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Jonathan and his soon to be wife in two days.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I forgot her name. So you're really close. I've only
- 5:06Speaker 1: met her one time.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Oh you have okay, Jonathan, there's still time. Run away, Okay,
- 5:10Speaker 2: just just go away. She'll never know.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. From the one interaction I had with
- 5:16Speaker 1: them together, they were very happy.
- 5:18Speaker 2: They were okay, good, well, congratulations Jonathan, and you're soon
- 5:22Speaker 2: to be whatever her name is because Matthew's only met
- 5:24Speaker 2: her one time wife. But yeah, there's nothing better than
- 5:28Speaker 2: getting married. I love it. There's nothing better than having kids,
- 5:31Speaker 2: I mean and sharing your life with someone you love.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Patricia's my best friend.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I mean, we have fun to We literally have fun
- 5:39Speaker 2: together even though we've been around each other a long time.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Are you Patricia's best friend? I uh, that should answer
- 5:46Speaker 2: your question right there. I don't know.
- 5:48Speaker 1: That's okay. I think I am.
- 5:51Speaker 2: She made fun of me one time because I was
- 5:53Speaker 2: introducing one of my closest friends I grew up with.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I introduced him as my best friend, and she's like, oh, oh,
- 6:00Speaker 2: I'm not your best friend.
- 6:01Speaker 1: So I'm like, oh, I didn't mean it that way.
- 6:03Speaker 1: You're my wife.
- 6:04Speaker 2: There's a to me, there's something bigger about that than
- 6:08Speaker 2: my best friend over here. But yeah, she's supposed to
- 6:10Speaker 2: be my best friend too. But yeah, yeah, I mean,
- 6:13Speaker 2: do you introduce Paulina as your best friend or your girlfriend?
- 6:18Speaker 1: I mean, she's my girlfriend, but like, is she your
- 6:20Speaker 1: best friend, I'd say, she's really close. Oh, she's really
- 6:24Speaker 1: close to it like mine. Oh so there's somebody else
- 6:26Speaker 1: out there that is, uh, maybe more of your best
- 6:29Speaker 1: friend my roommate Grant. I've grown up my entire life
- 6:32Speaker 1: with him. He'll be my best man at my wedding, Like, yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: he's one hundred percent of my best friend. Yes, but
- 6:37Speaker 1: I mean I hang out with Paulina probably a lot
- 6:41Speaker 1: more than I do him, Like, yeah, I would hope. So,
- 6:44Speaker 1: And where will I be in the wedding? Wherever you want? Really,
- 6:48Speaker 1: you can sit in the front.
- 6:49Speaker 2: You can say no, no, no, I'm a part of it,
- 6:51Speaker 2: aren't I Are you gonna ask me? I'm your best man,
- 6:54Speaker 2: I would think, or at least in the party. You
- 6:55Speaker 2: can run like the hot dog card if you want.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Oh, thanks, Okay, I forget it. Geez.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I thought, yeah, I thought we were close friends. Now
- 7:03Speaker 2: you've always said very nice things about me, and I
- 7:06Speaker 2: thought i'd be a part of the wedding if it
- 7:09Speaker 2: ever happens.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I mean I can find a spot. I guess it
- 7:13Speaker 1: could find it. Paul was doing the planning. Oh is
- 7:17Speaker 1: she really like I'm helping her with it? But like
- 7:20Speaker 1: it's really oh wait, wait, you're helping her, so there
- 7:22Speaker 1: is plans. I mean, I mean like when we do
- 7:25Speaker 1: plan oh okay, but like I'll help her, but like
- 7:27Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I have I'm not picky,
- 7:30Speaker 1: Like it can be whatever they want.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Oh, you're kind of one of those guys that was
- 7:35Speaker 2: very involved with my wife and I, I believe it
- 7:38Speaker 2: or not. I picked out our china and our silverware
- 7:43Speaker 2: or whatever you call it.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Does that surprise you had to do that? Yoh yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 1: of course you do.
- 7:49Speaker 2: You got to pick out china, and you had to
- 7:52Speaker 2: get a registry, going a wedding registry where you you know,
- 7:56Speaker 2: that's the best part of getting married. It's not the
- 7:58Speaker 2: actual marriage part. It's getting all the freak gifts. That's
- 8:02Speaker 2: the part I enjoyed the most.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Is it really freakers spend like eight Well, yeah, you're right.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It's like if you get like a streaming service and
- 8:11Speaker 1: they're like, well they'll give you if you get this one,
- 8:13Speaker 1: we'll give you Hulu with it, it's like, well, I'm
- 8:15Speaker 1: paying forty dollars. Oh yeah, that's never worked out.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Well. The same thing with getting new cell phone service.
- 8:20Speaker 2: You're supposed to get Hulu or something for free and
- 8:23Speaker 2: I've never been able to figure out how to get
- 8:25Speaker 2: it to work. Really, It's like, no, I've never have
- 8:28Speaker 2: so with with with whatever service I'm with. I was
- 8:31Speaker 2: supposed to get that for free, and I've downloaded it
- 8:34Speaker 2: and it still asks for money. It's like, screw this,
- 8:37Speaker 2: I'm done. I get Yeah, the free stuff never works
- 8:39Speaker 2: for me. It ends up not being free, ends up
- 8:42Speaker 2: costing more, or they want you to Well, you can
- 8:45Speaker 2: get the basic, but you know it's better if you
- 8:47Speaker 2: get the other one. That way you can get every channel,
- 8:49Speaker 2: and then that costs money. I've never been so frustrated
- 8:53Speaker 2: in my life.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It's funny because they have like the when we were
- 8:56Speaker 1: when I was growing up and everything, like Netflix was
- 8:58Speaker 1: the first streaming service and it costs like eight dollars
- 9:01Speaker 1: a month and you got everything. Netflix was at the
- 9:04Speaker 1: height of its prime. They if any new movie came
- 9:06Speaker 1: out of winches streaming automatically went to Netflix. All the
- 9:09Speaker 1: Netflix original movies and shows were amazing, Like it was
- 9:12Speaker 1: really cool. It was like a phenomenon. Now there's so
- 9:15Speaker 1: many of them that honestly, all of the original movies
- 9:18Speaker 1: and TV shows that these if it's Apple TV, if
- 9:21Speaker 1: it's peacock, it's Netflix. They all suck now they're bad,
- 9:24Speaker 1: like they're terrible. Netflix, I think is the worst. Netflix
- 9:27Speaker 1: is bad.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll never hear me say a nice thing about Netflix,
- 9:30Speaker 2: because when it first came out, I thought, Oh, I'm
- 9:32Speaker 2: gonna get to watch every movie I want, and then
- 9:35Speaker 2: of course there's not every movie out there.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And then on top of it.
- 9:38Speaker 2: All, when they switched it to where, uh, you can
- 9:42Speaker 2: only use it in a particular house and then it'll
- 9:46Speaker 2: last while you traveling. You can't let you kids use it.
- 9:49Speaker 2: It's like, I can't keep up with it so much
- 9:51Speaker 2: because my son will use it, my wife will use it,
- 9:53Speaker 2: and it'll be in the same house and I can't
- 9:58Speaker 2: watch what I want to watch. And I I only
- 10:00Speaker 2: said forget it. I am so done with Netflix because
- 10:03Speaker 2: they're so worried about people sharing the passwords. Well, you
- 10:07Speaker 2: know what, the amount of money that you're charging anyway,
- 10:10Speaker 2: kind of put that in there. Don't tell me to
- 10:12Speaker 2: pay more money. Well, you can get the family plan
- 10:14Speaker 2: and you can get all.
- 10:15Speaker 1: These TVs on.
- 10:16Speaker 2: It's like, no, no, no, no, no, you just give
- 10:18Speaker 2: me the one plan I had before that worked perfectly.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Or I'm done, and my wife's like, no, mich we're
- 10:24Speaker 2: gonna keep it because your son and I watch And
- 10:28Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, fine, I do not watch Netflix anymore
- 10:34Speaker 2: at all. I'll watch anything else other than Netflix.
- 10:37Speaker 1: All these streaming services, well, I said, whether it's Netflix
- 10:39Speaker 1: or it's Peacock whatever, they're constantly getting like unsubscribed to
- 10:44Speaker 1: every single day because of those situations like somebody moves
- 10:47Speaker 1: and they can't rank with them, or this and that.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Like for example, when I moved to Florida, right, my
- 10:52Speaker 1: mom has YouTube TV. She had it for over like
- 10:55Speaker 1: two years, right, and never used it. She only got
- 10:58Speaker 1: it because I use it. Now she uses it. Now,
- 11:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to I can't use that anymore. Why
- 11:02Speaker 1: not because I'm moving to Florida. It didn't matter. I
- 11:05Speaker 1: won't be able to use it. Yeah you can. I
- 11:07Speaker 1: mean I'll have to select I'm traveling every single day.
- 11:10Speaker 2: That's okay, No, it's not every single day the first
- 11:13Speaker 2: time you set it up, because I do that between
- 11:15Speaker 2: here and Florida. The first time you go sign in
- 11:19Speaker 2: and you'll say yes, I'm traveling, and it'll go for
- 11:21Speaker 2: months without asking you again.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, so you can use it. But the point is.
- 11:26Speaker 2: You'll have to watch Louisville News and Louisville all that
- 11:29Speaker 2: kind of stuff.
- 11:30Speaker 1: If I were them, if I were the streaming services,
- 11:34Speaker 1: your biggest thing is, like you said, like password sharing
- 11:36Speaker 1: because they want to make more money. Yeah, if you
- 11:38Speaker 1: want to bring a bunch of people back to use
- 11:40Speaker 1: your stuff, and you want to have all these like Okay,
- 11:42Speaker 1: this one's eleven dollars, this one's thirteen dollars. Make if
- 11:47Speaker 1: you have the highest one, the one that comes with
- 11:49Speaker 1: four K, comes with all the channels, all that stuff. Right,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you can literally add that, Hey, if you buy this one,
- 11:53Speaker 1: you can share passwords, and I bet you money, everybody
- 11:57Speaker 1: would sign up. Everyone would sign up for that one
- 11:59Speaker 1: because guess what, they're spending more, but they're saving a
- 12:02Speaker 1: little bit because I don't have to buy it four times, right,
- 12:05Speaker 1: So like, if you really want to get people back,
- 12:07Speaker 1: do that. I don't. I wouldn't, Like I don't like
- 12:10Speaker 1: spending more money. But the end of the day, if
- 12:11Speaker 1: you're like a if you're a parent in a household, boom,
- 12:14Speaker 1: there you go. So now you have a dude spending
- 12:16Speaker 1: twenty five dollars instead of eleven.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Well, there was only one thing that I did. I'll
- 12:20Speaker 2: admit it. I did enjoy The Crown. I don't know
- 12:23Speaker 2: if you ever saw that series that, Yeah, they did it.
- 12:27Speaker 2: It was about Queen Elizabeth and through her life. It
- 12:32Speaker 2: was really a good series if you liked that kind
- 12:34Speaker 2: of stuff. And I enjoyed it. And then the other
- 12:36Speaker 2: thing I liked was Race for Two of them are crowns.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Race for the Crown, which was about a couple of
- 12:43Speaker 2: years ago, the horses that went through the Derby, Preakness,
- 12:49Speaker 2: and Belmont, and that was that was an awesome series.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Did you never see that?
- 12:54Speaker 1: No? Oh, yeah, I know you're not. I don't watch
- 12:57Speaker 1: like TV series a lot.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Really, if you go back and watch Race for the Crown,
- 13:03Speaker 2: I promise you you will like it. Supposedly they skipped
- 13:07Speaker 2: it this past year. Supposedly they're coming out with another one,
- 13:10Speaker 2: but I was like, well, where is it?
- 13:11Speaker 1: Then?
- 13:12Speaker 2: I'm telling you it gave you an inside, behind the
- 13:17Speaker 2: scenes look at horse racing. Even if you don't like
- 13:21Speaker 2: horse racing. It was fascinating because everybody here in Louisville,
- 13:25Speaker 2: and they embraced the Kentucky Derby. They might not like
- 13:28Speaker 2: horse racing and might not be a diehard horse race fan.
- 13:31Speaker 1: But it is.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It is fascinating to see the behind the scenes of
- 13:35Speaker 2: what it is like being a trainer, jockey, owner, all
- 13:38Speaker 2: the above. As far as a horse race owner, I
- 13:42Speaker 2: never like how they say connections.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Now have you seen that?
- 13:45Speaker 2: A lot of times they'll say congratulations to the connections
- 13:48Speaker 2: of a particular horse. Could you just say owners, congratulations
- 13:54Speaker 2: to the trainer, the jockey, and the owner. Why do
- 13:57Speaker 2: we have to just limit the amount of words we
- 14:00Speaker 2: used to say connections? It just sounds just like with
- 14:03Speaker 2: the NBA. NBA, get over yourself. They're not governors. They're
- 14:09Speaker 2: owners of a franchise. They don't own people, they own
- 14:13Speaker 2: the franchise. I've always been irritated by that. You were
- 14:18Speaker 2: trying to cancel so many words out there.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Technically, they actually do own the rights of those players,
- 14:25Speaker 1: like by if we're doing technicality, but it's I know
- 14:29Speaker 1: what you're saying. They own a contract. Yes, they don't
- 14:31Speaker 1: own the player, but like they also like have the
- 14:34Speaker 1: naming rights and the jersey rights and all that stuff.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Well that's the fault of the player. Then if they
- 14:39Speaker 2: don't like that, then don't sign off of the contract.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I'm taking your side. I'm saying it's yeah, it's stupid
- 14:43Speaker 1: because that is that's how the world works.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Like, that's what it is. Oh, I listen, what did
- 14:48Speaker 2: I have when I was in business? I had a franchise.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I owned the franchise. I was the owner. In my
- 14:55Speaker 2: contract it said owner. It didn't say governor. What a
- 15:00Speaker 2: dumb comment. But anyway, stupid way to describe what you do.
- 15:05Speaker 2: But I just I know I've gotten totally way off
- 15:08Speaker 2: topic here. We've gone from Netflix to talk about owners
- 15:11Speaker 2: and governors. But uh, anyway, it wouldn't be funny if
- 15:14Speaker 2: they just changed the name of the state governor and
- 15:18Speaker 2: just started to call them the state owner.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm not for a try what he says.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Andy Basher, owner of Kentucky. I would
- 15:27Speaker 2: like that. I mean that's what I'll call him. Owner.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I think we should have done that before the World
- 15:32Speaker 1: Cup started. So all the people from other countries come
- 15:34Speaker 1: in be like, you guys have owners of your saints.
- 15:37Speaker 2: That would yes, and they make all this money when
- 15:40Speaker 2: you come here to visit. Yep, yeah owner. Oh my gosh,
- 15:45Speaker 2: but uh uh yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 1: We we we do.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Are you prepared today for your homework? I am Are
- 15:50Speaker 2: you really yeah? Okay, when would you like to do
- 15:54Speaker 2: your segment on soccer?
- 15:57Speaker 1: We can do at the end of the show.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Why would you do at the end of the show.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I want you to have plenty of time to me.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I think we need to do the first hour, but
- 16:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna let you choose.
- 16:06Speaker 1: We can do it at the end. I mean, it's
- 16:07Speaker 1: not a lot, it's just one game. Like, it's not
- 16:09Speaker 1: a lot, I understand, but this is a big deal,
- 16:13Speaker 1: this is a big event going. I think it deserves
- 16:15Speaker 1: to be one of the top topics of the show today.
- 16:18Speaker 1: We got two hours. All right, here's what we'll do.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Then if you don't want if you want to do
- 16:22Speaker 1: at the end of the show, here, I'll compromise with you. Okay,
- 16:26Speaker 1: we'll compromise and I'll say, make it the first segment
- 16:29Speaker 1: of the second hour, okay, and we will talk World
- 16:32Speaker 1: Cup soccer. Did you ever think I would allow you
- 16:35Speaker 1: to talk World Cup soccer? No? I didn't. Yeah. Are
- 16:38Speaker 1: you surprised? Yeah, a little nervous. Actually, why are you
- 16:40Speaker 1: nervous about it? Because I mean, like, it's it's one game.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I hope I have enough, Like I hope. No, no, no, no,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go player by player. No, no, don't
- 16:50Speaker 1: make it boring. I mean that's one of another little
- 16:53Speaker 1: pet peeve is when people read the scores of games
- 16:58Speaker 1: on the radio. It's like, why are you doing that?
- 17:00Speaker 1: I just look it up on the internet. I used
- 17:02Speaker 1: to have a person that would come on my show
- 17:05Speaker 1: will Remain Nameless at the other radio station, long time
- 17:09Speaker 1: ago when I first started, and he would sit there
- 17:11Speaker 1: and read scores from Friday night and this would be
- 17:15Speaker 1: Monday morning Friday night, and this would be the show
- 17:18Speaker 1: on Monday morning. But ye was nineteen exactly. It's like,
- 17:22Speaker 1: what are you doing? Please?
- 17:25Speaker 2: This is the year of the internet. We get those
- 17:28Speaker 2: scores in seconds. We don't need to say it on
- 17:31Speaker 2: the radio. I just I was amazed. But he didn't
- 17:35Speaker 2: last long and he was gone, and I was kind
- 17:37Speaker 2: of relieved. But I don't say the name his name
- 17:40Speaker 2: because I like the guy in lots of people know
- 17:43Speaker 2: who he is. But yeah, it was just the strangest thing.
- 17:46Speaker 2: By the way, one textter said, the Texters need to
- 17:49Speaker 2: leave Matt alone. As long as he doesn't talk about
- 17:52Speaker 2: Star Wars as much as he did on the Ruther
- 17:55Speaker 2: for show, He's cool with me.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Okay, look, thank you, Ohio guy. You need to think,
- 17:59Speaker 1: oh high, No, I appreciate, Ohio guy. I just want
- 18:02Speaker 1: to preface. Half the time, I wasn't the one starting
- 18:06Speaker 1: the conversation about Star Wars. People would text in and
- 18:08Speaker 1: ask questions about Star Wars, and then Mike would say,
- 18:11Speaker 1: all right, Matt, here you go, and then I would
- 18:13Speaker 1: answer them. So I wasn't just sitting here being like,
- 18:15Speaker 1: hold on, Mike, stop the show. We got to talk
- 18:17Speaker 1: about Star Wars real quick. Oh really, why would you
- 18:19Speaker 1: do that?
- 18:20Speaker 2: Are you that big of a fan that you have
- 18:21Speaker 2: to stop the show and talk about Star Wars.
- 18:23Speaker 1: That's what a lot of the listeners believe. Are you
- 18:27Speaker 1: that big into Star Wars? Do you really? Okay?
- 18:30Speaker 2: One of my buddies, a business associate, Sorry, how guy,
- 18:33Speaker 2: I have to listen to it about couple more minutes.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I know. Well.
- 18:36Speaker 2: The funny part is, as my boys were growing up,
- 18:39Speaker 2: he didn't have kids, he was never married, and he
- 18:42Speaker 2: was a very successful spine surgeon here in town, and
- 18:44Speaker 2: he dated lots of women, some beautiful women. And uh,
- 18:49Speaker 2: he gave the same gift to my boys three years
- 18:51Speaker 2: in a row. And it was a star Wars DVD,
- 18:55Speaker 2: the same one exactly.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's like, what do you do?
- 19:01Speaker 2: You gave that to them last year he gave it
- 19:03Speaker 2: to him again, and not only didn't do it twice,
- 19:05Speaker 2: he did it three times. So we have three DVDs,
- 19:09Speaker 2: which nobody has anymore. But uh, of Star Wars of
- 19:13Speaker 2: the exact same movie. Which one is it? I don't
- 19:15Speaker 2: remember it was it even a good one? I don't know.
- 19:20Speaker 2: The only good one to me was the first one,
- 19:22Speaker 2: and that was it, the very just like the very first,
- 19:24Speaker 2: the original. Okay, yes, yeah, I don't care about the other.
- 19:28Speaker 2: The other ones are kind of goofy.
- 19:29Speaker 1: On my mom's side of my family, like a lot
- 19:31Speaker 1: of them live in Lexington, Yes, and so for like
- 19:34Speaker 1: many many years when I was growing up, we would
- 19:36Speaker 1: always go to Lexis down Christmas morning and have Christmas
- 19:39Speaker 1: with them. Now it became too honestly, too annoying. There
- 19:42Speaker 1: were some family issues with people, so we don't We
- 19:44Speaker 1: didn't do that after I was like fourteen anymore. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: but I always couldn't stand it because one, I barely
- 19:50Speaker 1: knew these people only on once a year. Two they
- 19:52Speaker 1: barely knew who I was. Four they would do one
- 19:56Speaker 1: of those like giant, giant Family Christmas, like one hundred
- 19:59Speaker 1: plus people that and it would take hours and hours
- 20:02Speaker 1: of hours, and they just they had no idea of like, oh,
- 20:06Speaker 1: these people have to go home and drive an hour
- 20:08Speaker 1: and a half home every day, you know, like and
- 20:11Speaker 1: something they would do they never got, like, they never
- 20:13Speaker 1: put the effort in to get to know any of us.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So every single year I got a gift card for Christmas,
- 20:18Speaker 1: that's fine, But the gift card I could tell was
- 20:22Speaker 1: always for someone else and they just gave it to
- 20:26Speaker 1: me because that person didn't want it. No, Like, there
- 20:29Speaker 1: were multiple times where I would get a gift card,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and I want to preface, I'm like eight or like
- 20:34Speaker 1: nine years old. You'd give a gift card like Toys
- 20:37Speaker 1: r us right or something like that. Please don't tell
- 20:40Speaker 1: me it was Starbucks. No, I've gotten those before. But
- 20:42Speaker 1: most of the time it was like five below. I'd
- 20:45Speaker 1: get I get a five that the Girls Place, isn't it.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I mean it's it's that as everything, but like you're
- 20:51Speaker 1: not giving a kid five below. Or it'd be like
- 20:54Speaker 1: Home Goods, Like I get a gift card to Home Goods,
- 20:57Speaker 1: You're gonna go decorate your room with pillows, like the
- 21:00Speaker 1: times that I would sit there and they would do
- 21:01Speaker 1: the one the thing where you sit in a circle
- 21:03Speaker 1: and you do one at a time, and I'd open
- 21:05Speaker 1: this gift card and they would make you get up
- 21:08Speaker 1: and go say thank you to them in person. Oh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: come in front of everyone, And it was just it's
- 21:13Speaker 1: just uncomfortable feeling. So every time i'd open one of these,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'd be like, thank you, Tina and I and I
- 21:20Speaker 1: just over my shoulder hand it to my mom who
- 21:22Speaker 1: was sitting behind me. I'm like, here you go, Mom,
- 21:23Speaker 1: here's your second gift. Wow. Yeah, thanks for this.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I think I'll go get a piercing in my ear
- 21:29Speaker 2: for this, maybe my belly button.
- 21:31Speaker 1: This time. My mom would be like, you can't be ungrateful.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'm like, Mom, they weren't know my name, they were
- 21:35Speaker 1: I have a whole good gift card. Like what is this? Okay? Yeah, okay,
- 21:39Speaker 1: you had it much worse than I did, so thank goodness. Yeah.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Well, you know, living in Louisville, we didn't have any
- 21:45Speaker 2: family up here because my mom and dad were from
- 21:47Speaker 2: Nashville and we never drove down there, Thank goodness to Nashville.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And my dad was one of twelve, so my mom
- 21:53Speaker 2: was one of five, so it was just too big,
- 21:55Speaker 2: and so thank goodness, we just stayed up here and
- 21:57Speaker 2: we had the five of us, which was nice because
- 21:59Speaker 2: I have an older brother and older sister. But you know,
- 22:02Speaker 2: I was basically an oldie child because I have an
- 22:07Speaker 2: older sister that is ten years older than me and
- 22:11Speaker 2: an older brother that's thirteen years old older than me.
- 22:14Speaker 2: So you know, by the time I remember much, they
- 22:16Speaker 2: are already out of the house. So it was just me,
- 22:19Speaker 2: which was kind of nice. You know, he gets fooled
- 22:21Speaker 2: that way.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Oh five, oh two three eight four fourteen fifty five
- 22:27Speaker 2: oh two, uh four one four fourteen fifty You want
- 22:30Speaker 2: to text in on the whiskey teed text line? Are
- 22:32Speaker 2: you tweeting me at just the Cat Radio. We're gonna
- 22:34Speaker 2: take a break, but when we come back, what do
- 22:36Speaker 2: we think about what Mark Pope is doing to the
- 22:39Speaker 2: basketball team and is it a direct shot at last
- 22:44Speaker 2: year's team?
- 22:44Speaker 1: I tend to think so.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And then a little later, Matthew Childress, he's gonna be
- 22:51Speaker 2: talking about the big news World Cup. I can't wait
- 22:56Speaker 2: for that conversation. Am I being sincere there? Matthew?
- 22:59Speaker 1: I think up.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Okay, you hurt me? Okay, good good, I'm glad I
- 23:02Speaker 2: did stay right there a lot more. Just a Cat's
- 23:04Speaker 2: coming up five O two three four fourteen fifty. You
- 23:27Speaker 2: want to call five two fourteen fifty if you want
- 23:30Speaker 2: to text on the Whiskey Feed text line or you
- 23:32Speaker 2: tweet meat just the cat radio. Uh so, let's talk
- 23:35Speaker 2: about this for a couple of minutes, Matthew. Uh, there
- 23:39Speaker 2: was a rule put down yesterday where basketball coach at
- 23:44Speaker 2: the University Kentucky, Mark Ppe, forcing the entire team to
- 23:47Speaker 2: live in Wildcat Laara Lodge for the entire season. I'm sorry,
- 23:51Speaker 2: not season summer. So Mark Pope is forcing the team
- 23:56Speaker 2: to live no matter what, because you know, usually the
- 23:59Speaker 2: upper class men are allowed to go live in an
- 24:03Speaker 2: apartment or somewhere separate. But no, they're not doing that,
- 24:07Speaker 2: and the reasoning is so that they can get to
- 24:10Speaker 2: know each other. To me, I saw this well before
- 24:15Speaker 2: I say anything, and I've kind of indicated what I think.
- 24:18Speaker 2: But when you hear this, Matthew, what does it make
- 24:24Speaker 2: you think? When you hear Mark Pope wanting the entire
- 24:27Speaker 2: team to spend the entire summer in Wildcat Lodge.
- 24:34Speaker 1: So is Wildcat Lodge like dormitories? It is, Oh, it's
- 24:38Speaker 1: where the basketball team lives. I meant like, are they
- 24:40Speaker 1: like apartment style or the small tiny dorm?
- 24:43Speaker 2: You know that's fair to say. I think they're Honestly,
- 24:47Speaker 2: I don't know, because I would assume they're probably more apartments.
- 24:51Speaker 1: That's what I would say. My honest reaction would be
- 24:53Speaker 1: if I came here to play basketball and then I
- 24:57Speaker 1: walked in and then my head coach, who is paying
- 24:59Speaker 1: me millions of dollars, is like, you have to stay
- 25:01Speaker 1: in this tiny cramp dorm, I'd be kind of upset
- 25:05Speaker 1: because it's like, dude, like, why are we doing this?
- 25:09Speaker 1: I understand, like you say, he makes it wants them
- 25:11Speaker 1: to get to know each other, but like, do you
- 25:13Speaker 1: have a whole summer of practice. Well, but you really
- 25:17Speaker 1: got to be sharing bunk beds.
- 25:19Speaker 2: You do get to know each other when you live
- 25:21Speaker 2: with each other. I saw this and I thought, okay,
- 25:26Speaker 2: this is a direct Now, maybe maybe a direct shot
- 25:30Speaker 2: is kind of harsh, but this has to be a
- 25:32Speaker 2: direct result of ad meeting. The team last year did
- 25:38Speaker 2: not get along, and so in order to combat that,
- 25:43Speaker 2: his big idea, So let's make them to live together
- 25:45Speaker 2: for a couple of months during the summer or a month. Yeah,
- 25:49Speaker 2: it is, it's eight weeks. I think it is what
- 25:51Speaker 2: it is. You don't think so, I mean, I guess
- 25:54Speaker 2: it could be. It's definitely to me, it seems like
- 25:57Speaker 2: it's an indication. It's just like they were all kinds
- 26:00Speaker 2: of locker room problems that never came out bits and pieces.
- 26:04Speaker 1: That's just like, I don't know, I just don't feel
- 26:07Speaker 1: like this is the way you fix that. Like that's
- 26:10Speaker 1: a culture thing, you know, like that should be done.
- 26:12Speaker 1: These are grown men. These are not like seventeen year
- 26:15Speaker 1: old kids on a summer camp trip. So it's like
- 26:19Speaker 1: you're telling twenty three year old transfer something blah blah blah,
- 26:24Speaker 1: like they will got to go live in a dorm
- 26:26Speaker 1: with their eighteen year old roommate. Like yeah, that's just
- 26:28Speaker 1: like if I'm coming here, I'm just like do I'm not,
- 26:31Speaker 1: like I'm an adult. This is my job. Like there's
- 26:35Speaker 1: always gonna be people that you don't mesh with perfectly.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I just feel like this is a very kind of
- 26:42Speaker 1: immature way to handle this, Like that that should be
- 26:44Speaker 1: a culture thing that you instill in the locker room
- 26:47Speaker 1: and practice. Like yes, like if you have a roommate
- 26:51Speaker 1: or something, you're gonna be close with them at some point,
- 26:53Speaker 1: especially from the same team. Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 2: But all right, let's talk about the NFL though. You know,
- 26:58Speaker 2: when they do their combine, aren't they all living in
- 27:03Speaker 2: close quarters together? Is it true for spring training and
- 27:07Speaker 2: Major League Baseball players?
- 27:09Speaker 1: I always thought I actually don't know this, that might
- 27:12Speaker 1: be true. I don't.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I'm just going from movies, like, for instance,
- 27:16Speaker 2: you've seen the movie Invincible, right.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the one with Mark Walmert right exactly.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yes, Place for the Eagles plays the part of Vince
- 27:23Speaker 2: Papali And you know they're living in small rooms together.
- 27:29Speaker 2: They get to know each other really well. And I
- 27:34Speaker 2: don't know if that builds team confidence, team likes and dislikes,
- 27:40Speaker 2: or what living in close confines. I just I don't
- 27:46Speaker 2: know what it does. Sometimes I think it does work
- 27:50Speaker 2: some What was the other high school movie where they
- 27:52Speaker 2: made players?
- 27:54Speaker 1: That's it? Yes, And you know they made the one
- 27:57Speaker 1: p the Titans, Remember the Titans. That's the one. Yeah, Yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 1: that's the one.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I'm thinking Donzel Washington, Yeah, yeah, and they made you know,
- 28:07Speaker 2: the one white kid to live with the one black kid,
- 28:09Speaker 2: and and it's like, Okay, that made the team get
- 28:12Speaker 2: along better. You had Sunshine there, and you know, everybody's
- 28:15Speaker 2: trying to understand Sunshine's hair and all that kind of stuff.
- 28:18Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Sometimes I think it works. Sometimes I think it completely backfires.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's one where like, yeah, you'll build a good
- 28:28Speaker 1: relationship with the one or two people you're sharying a
- 28:30Speaker 1: room with, but the end of the day, everybody else
- 28:32Speaker 1: is still in their own rooms exactly. It's not like
- 28:34Speaker 1: it's not like your whole team is in one room
- 28:36Speaker 1: sharing a bunk, like you're in World War One. I mean,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I keep going back to the fact that, like, this
- 28:43Speaker 1: is not college sportsing board. This is a job, oh
- 28:47Speaker 1: very much. It's one where you should be able to
- 28:48Speaker 1: motivate these guys to be at least close enough to
- 28:52Speaker 1: be colleagues. Like they don't have to be best friends.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But like, is the millions of dollars not enough to say,
- 28:58Speaker 1: you know what, I can set aside my stuff, so
- 29:00Speaker 1: play some good basketball.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Well, how do you do the roommate that's a culture thing.
- 29:03Speaker 2: How do you do the roommate part? Do you say
- 29:06Speaker 2: and who's doing the roommate part? Is it Mark Pope? Actually,
- 29:08Speaker 2: you know, let me put this guy that's making six
- 29:11Speaker 2: million dollars, let me put it with this guy. It's
- 29:13Speaker 2: a walk on that's not making a dime. I don't
- 29:16Speaker 2: think that's a good idea.
- 29:19Speaker 1: How do you do that college orientation wheremates, no guys,
- 29:24Speaker 1: no sign seating in here, you have to pick who
- 29:27Speaker 1: you want to live like that? Just I don't know.
- 29:29Speaker 1: It just makes me feel like he's treating these adults
- 29:31Speaker 1: like children.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Do you get it to where, well, let's let's put
- 29:35Speaker 2: all the rich guys over here and the poor guys
- 29:38Speaker 2: over here.
- 29:38Speaker 1: They aren't making a dime on this team, I just say,
- 29:41Speaker 1: who cares? Let them live with whoever they want to
- 29:42Speaker 1: live live with. They don't live by themselves by themselves.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Yeah, but here comes mom chilling. All of them are
- 29:47Speaker 2: coming here, well a good majority of them, and they've
- 29:50Speaker 2: never lived with each other, So how they're going to pick?
- 29:52Speaker 2: I'll take you you sound good. And then there's that poor
- 29:55Speaker 2: guy over there standing by himself, which would be me saying,
- 29:58Speaker 2: well who am I living with? Nobody picked me? And
- 30:02Speaker 2: then who does he live with?
- 30:03Speaker 1: And I also get that it's only over the summer,
- 30:05Speaker 1: so it's like a I get there doing like a
- 30:07Speaker 1: summer camp thing. Yeah, I thought that's fine. It's just
- 30:11Speaker 1: I don't know. I just don't know if that like
- 30:14Speaker 1: just who cares? Man like that they And this isn't
- 30:16Speaker 1: on mar Pope. This is on the players. They shouldn't
- 30:19Speaker 1: need that to build chemistry like that should be a
- 30:21Speaker 1: culture thing that should be established that like your time,
- 30:24Speaker 1: you're spending like ten hours a day together practicing in
- 30:28Speaker 1: the gym, in the locker room and training and film
- 30:31Speaker 1: study like that, do we really need to go home together?
- 30:34Speaker 1: To Michael? It's like if you and I spent both
- 30:36Speaker 1: worked full time jobs and then we're like, well, Michael,
- 30:39Speaker 1: time to car pull our way home? Like I don't know,
- 30:41Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I love you, Michael. I don't want to
- 30:43Speaker 1: spend fifteen hours of my day with you? Why not?
- 30:47Speaker 1: H But you can't force it.
- 30:48Speaker 2: I mean, that's what I feel like is happening is
- 30:50Speaker 2: is it's being forced and it won't work because either
- 30:54Speaker 2: the team gets along, right, some teams just don't get along.
- 30:58Speaker 2: And I think that's what's happened last year that they
- 31:00Speaker 2: didn't like each other. They just didn't like each other.
- 31:02Speaker 1: And what happens, Like, like every single person in their
- 31:05Speaker 1: life has had a roommate they didn't like. Oh absolutely,
- 31:08Speaker 1: what happens if Mom Chilovich and Malachim Renos stay together
- 31:12Speaker 1: or whatever and they just end up hating each other?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Can I tell you about the worst roommate I ever
- 31:16Speaker 2: had in college? I never knew the guy got stuck
- 31:19Speaker 2: with him. Here's what he did every day, Literally every day.
- 31:24Speaker 2: He put his alarm clock across the rooms.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Oh yes, and here's the worst part.
- 31:33Speaker 2: He slept in the nude and so when the alarm
- 31:36Speaker 2: clock went off, he got out of bed and had
- 31:39Speaker 2: to go across the room to turn it off. And
- 31:40Speaker 2: here he is, buck naked. That was the worst roommate
- 31:44Speaker 2: I ever had.
- 31:46Speaker 1: That's pretty bad. That was bad.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Then I had another roommate that drank a little too
- 31:51Speaker 2: much and one night I'm like, man, it's really raining outside.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Well he had opened my draw up and was using
- 31:57Speaker 2: the bathroom on all my clothes. Oh no, oh, yeah,
- 32:01Speaker 2: these are the roommates I had. I would actually fight
- 32:03Speaker 2: that guy, Oh my gosh.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I did. And I've never been in a fight in
- 32:07Speaker 1: my life. I don't like fighting.
- 32:09Speaker 2: I took the shirt that he had just gone to
- 32:12Speaker 2: the bathroom mind and I slapped it across his face
- 32:16Speaker 2: and he had no idea. And this is a guy
- 32:18Speaker 2: I literally grew up with. The guy I still dearly
- 32:21Speaker 2: love to this day. I'm not going to say his name,
- 32:23Speaker 2: but man, I love that guy to this day. But yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 2: we got in a huge fight that night. It's like,
- 32:28Speaker 2: I can't.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Live with you as a person who used to go
- 32:32Speaker 1: out like four out of the seven nights of the
- 32:35Speaker 1: week when I was like twenty two and twenty three. Right,
- 32:38Speaker 1: my biggest pet peeve is like hanging out around people
- 32:43Speaker 1: that won when they drink a lot, just can't control themselves,
- 32:46Speaker 1: like they just like in any like they they're falling
- 32:49Speaker 1: over the place, they're trying, they're calls and a problem
- 32:52Speaker 1: with people. They're going to the bathroom. Like I can't
- 32:55Speaker 1: stay on those people. It's like, Dude, I have been extremely,
- 32:58Speaker 1: extremely drunk plenty of times of my life. I have
- 33:01Speaker 1: enough sense of mind to understand I'm not in the bathroom,
- 33:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 33:05Speaker 2: Like he had no idea where he was and for
- 33:09Speaker 2: some reason opened the drawer to all my clothes and
- 33:13Speaker 2: just started going and I thought it was raining outside.
- 33:15Speaker 1: When I was at Top Golf, I had a friend
- 33:17Speaker 1: who they hosted a party. Yeah, and it was. They
- 33:21Speaker 1: invited another person I know, and they showed up, got
- 33:24Speaker 1: super drunk, and they did the same thing, except they
- 33:26Speaker 1: opened the freezer to the refrigerator. They went to the
- 33:29Speaker 1: bathroom in the.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Oh, that's gross. Okay, all right, then, well, uh, we
- 33:36Speaker 2: gotta take another break. We've gone totally off track. We're
- 33:40Speaker 2: worse roommates in the world. I think you know, you
- 33:43Speaker 2: and I've had had a couple. Have you had a
- 33:46Speaker 2: worse one? Not worse than that? Yeah, I've had a
- 33:51Speaker 2: I don't know which was worse, the going to the
- 33:53Speaker 2: bathroom on the clothes or having to endure watching a
- 33:56Speaker 2: naked guy run across the room and turn his alarm off.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I think it's the naked guy, probably, yeah, because that
- 34:01Speaker 2: would happen every single day and just couldn't get over it. Anyway,
- 34:06Speaker 2: we're repeating songs, are we? You know you played this
- 34:09Speaker 2: song already this week?
- 34:10Speaker 1: I have Yeah, I've only been here two days. Yeah,
- 34:14Speaker 1: you've already you played the song wednesday. I did not
- 34:17Speaker 1: know that a fault YEP.
- 34:19Speaker 2: That's okay, I like it. It's a good song. This
- 34:21Speaker 2: is one of my more favorite songs by Queen. So
- 34:24Speaker 2: stay right there. We're gonna talk about some other stuff too.
- 34:28Speaker 2: What is Florida doing? They are spending a boatload of money.
- 34:31Speaker 2: We'll talk about that next day. Right there, Just a
- 34:32Speaker 2: cat's coming out. Do you know who the other singer
- 35:15Speaker 2: is in this song with Queen? Not without looking it up,
- 35:19Speaker 2: David Bowie. Okay, just letting you know. One person texted
- 35:22Speaker 2: in five O two four one four fourteen fifty. Good morrow,
- 35:25Speaker 2: Governor Bennett. I'd love how this has started. I'm waiting
- 35:29Speaker 2: for doormat to tell me if Landon Donovan or Clinton
- 35:33Speaker 2: Dempsey will be the leading score for Team USA.
- 35:37Speaker 1: It will, They will not be. We need to talk
- 35:39Speaker 1: about it later.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Now I think you should hold off, but and explain
- 35:44Speaker 2: as to why.
- 35:46Speaker 1: You may explain. I mean both of them are retired.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Oh they are, Oh that's why. Okay, Donovan hasn't since
- 35:52Speaker 1: twenty ten, really yeah, and then Clintons twenty fourteen, I believe.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay, oh good for this texture knowing who
- 36:01Speaker 2: that is. I have no idea who they are. But
- 36:04Speaker 2: are they Americans? Yes, they're Americans.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Oh how guy said, how many current and former Big
- 36:09Speaker 2: Ex employees will Matt invite to his wedding and bachelor party?
- 36:14Speaker 1: Bachelor party? Zero? That's actually maybe one? Maybe one? Seriously,
- 36:19Speaker 1: am I invite Roman to the bachelor party? The wedding?
- 36:23Speaker 2: Well wait, wait, wait, I am not invited to the
- 36:26Speaker 2: bachelor party.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Michael, you're not waw. I mean, I love you, Michael,
- 36:30Speaker 1: But like my bachelor party's gonna have like three people?
- 36:33Speaker 1: Oh it is? Oh, okay, it's fair. Well because it's
- 36:35Speaker 1: not I'm not going to like Vegas or anything. I
- 36:37Speaker 1: think we're just gonna go No. I would never want
- 36:39Speaker 1: to do that on like a golf trip. Oh that
- 36:41Speaker 1: would be fun.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Okay, and only three people, so three of your closest
- 36:45Speaker 2: people friends, Yeah, because I get that.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I don't like going on especially if it's something like
- 36:49Speaker 1: if we're going on like a I don't like going
- 36:50Speaker 1: on trips with a lot of people. It's too complicated.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Nobody wants to do the same thing, so it just
- 36:55Speaker 1: becomes stressful. I'd rather just go with like three of
- 36:57Speaker 1: my closest friends and go play golfer.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I won't tell you all the bachelor parties I've been
- 37:02Speaker 2: to or are about mine, because it was pretty brutal.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Fun but brutal.
- 37:07Speaker 2: But I will tell you one of my closest friends
- 37:11Speaker 2: we took at his bachelor party, which happened to be
- 37:14Speaker 2: the night before the wedding.
- 37:15Speaker 1: We took him.
- 37:16Speaker 2: He was so lit up, he was we we dragged
- 37:20Speaker 2: him and put him on a table, took a permanent
- 37:22Speaker 2: marker and wrote the names of every past girlfriend.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Why because it was funny. Okay, So yeah, you know
- 37:32Speaker 1: at the wedding, here's all these names of girls all
- 37:35Speaker 1: over his body. It was pretty funny. Yeah, I I
- 37:38Speaker 1: I thoroughly enjoyed that. All right.
- 37:40Speaker 2: So, uh, wedding wise, when when when the day comes
- 37:44Speaker 2: you get married, Uh, will there be any farmer or
- 37:47Speaker 2: you know, big ex employees that you invite to your wedding?
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Of course, And I mean you out of my Roman,
- 37:55Speaker 1: I'd probably I'd invite Stephen Peek out of my miked
- 38:00Speaker 1: than who Stephen Peaks?
- 38:02Speaker 2: Oh okay that guy? Yeah, yeah, I kind of remember
- 38:04Speaker 2: his name. I keep forgetting it my TJ.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Basically, just I mean all the hosts and producers I
- 38:09Speaker 1: want to find justin obviously. Yeah, well you didn't say
- 38:12Speaker 1: a couple. But that's okay, all right, the show after me.
- 38:17Speaker 1: You didn't say, I mean like I know them, but
- 38:19Speaker 1: not like very well, Oh you don't know him very well,
- 38:21Speaker 1: like we're we're friends, like we're colleagues. Yeah, but that's
- 38:25Speaker 1: kind of Spears and Tony. I gather cool people, but
- 38:27Speaker 1: I don't know if I didn't find them, Okay, because
- 38:28Speaker 1: you don't know them as well. No, I got you, Okay,
- 38:31Speaker 1: fair enough. Uh, University of Kentucky is going I'm sorry,
- 38:34Speaker 1: let me start over. University of Florida. Have you seen?
- 38:38Speaker 1: This is going all in with John summerl.
- 38:42Speaker 2: The Florida Gators plan on spending not not to build
- 38:47Speaker 2: a new stadium, but to renovate what is known right
- 38:51Speaker 2: now as ben Hill Griffin Stadium for an unbelievable amount
- 38:56Speaker 2: of money and it's the most out there. They're going
- 39:01Speaker 2: to spend one point four or five billion dollars. That's
- 39:07Speaker 2: the billion with a B as in.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Boy.
- 39:10Speaker 2: I saw that and I was amazed at this. Uh,
- 39:15Speaker 2: and what they're claiming it's going to do. It means
- 39:18Speaker 2: more accessible concessions, improve restroom access, better traffic flow throughout
- 39:23Speaker 2: the stadium. Additional gathering spaces, upgraded technology, which I've complained
- 39:29Speaker 2: about UK has needed to do for many years. And
- 39:33Speaker 2: enhanced wayfinding. I don't know what that means. What is
- 39:39Speaker 2: enhanced wayfinding? Have you ever heard of that? What am
- 39:43Speaker 2: I missing here?
- 39:44Speaker 1: Maybe it's like easier to navigate for new people. I
- 39:49Speaker 1: don't know. I mean I saw that's the only that's
- 39:52Speaker 1: just my initial thought. I don't know what that means.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Well in your initial thought, should that cost one point
- 39:57Speaker 2: four or five billion dollars? I mean they put a
- 40:00Speaker 2: video out and a lot of the Florida fans were
- 40:03Speaker 2: criticized and hopefully you didn't pay that much for this
- 40:05Speaker 2: lady doing the narrating. It's like they were really hard
- 40:09Speaker 2: on it. But one point four or five So school's
- 40:12Speaker 2: gonna pay for part of it. Uh, they're gonna They're
- 40:15Speaker 2: gonna borrow money to pay for part of it. They're
- 40:17Speaker 2: gonna get donors to pay for part of it. I mean,
- 40:20Speaker 2: this is a big endeavor.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Enhanced wayfinding is the use of modern technology, dynamic visual cues,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and an intuitive environmental design to help people navigate complex Man,
- 40:30Speaker 1: it sounds like the dumbest thing investment I've ever heard
- 40:33Speaker 1: in my life enhanced way for all, stadium is a circle.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I mean, just walking a circle, defoundation. You'll keep walking
- 40:38Speaker 1: right past it. Exactly.
- 40:39Speaker 2: You're gonna find it one of these days. I mean,
- 40:41Speaker 2: if you're gonna have upgraded technology, you certainly can make
- 40:44Speaker 2: phone calls and texts unlike and get on the internet
- 40:47Speaker 2: unlike what you can do at a Commonwealth stadium or
- 40:50Speaker 2: Reparina for that fact. But what but on one point
- 40:55Speaker 2: four to five billion, I can't get over that number, Matthew,
- 40:57Speaker 2: that's a lot of money with everything I just said,
- 41:00Speaker 2: with the accessible concessions, improved restroom access, better traffic flow, wayfinding,
- 41:06Speaker 2: additional gathering spaces. I mean, does that sound like it's
- 41:09Speaker 2: worth one point four or five billion dollars?
- 41:12Speaker 1: If you're gonna spend that much money, might as well
- 41:13Speaker 1: just build a new stadium.
- 41:14Speaker 2: That's exactly what I thought. I mean, how much does
- 41:18Speaker 2: a brand new stadium cost?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Not to find that out?
- 41:21Speaker 2: I looked into this and I thought, you you should
- 41:25Speaker 2: be able to build a brand new stadium.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Uh. Now will they drop the whole steam for field
- 41:32Speaker 1: the new Titan Stadium, which is going to be probably
- 41:34Speaker 1: the nicest stadium the NFL for at least a couple
- 41:36Speaker 1: of years because they're one to host the Super Bowl
- 41:38Speaker 1: and all that stuff, right cost two point two.
- 41:41Speaker 2: I mean you're you're more than halfway there for a
- 41:44Speaker 2: brand new stadium.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I'd say for a college ball stadium, that would be
- 41:47Speaker 1: plenty of money to build. I would think updated, nice
- 41:50Speaker 1: college ball stadium, unless they just think they can't tear
- 41:54Speaker 1: it down and start all over. I mean, where would
- 41:56Speaker 1: they go play? I mean they could go play the
- 41:59Speaker 1: jack Jack Jacksonville for a season. Yes. How long does
- 42:04Speaker 1: it take to build a new stadium? I know National's
- 42:06Speaker 1: taken forever. I mean i'd say at least three or
- 42:08Speaker 1: four years. How long did the Buffalo stadium take? Yeah?
- 42:11Speaker 1: Theirs done right?
- 42:12Speaker 2: Yeah it is, yeah, because they play their don't They
- 42:16Speaker 2: play their first ones this coming year?
- 42:18Speaker 1: I believe. So you know what that Sam's called. I
- 42:20Speaker 1: have no idea, No, do you think I care about Buffalo?
- 42:25Speaker 1: Three years? Okay? Wow? Three years?
- 42:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a long time you would have to What
- 42:30Speaker 2: you'd have to do is build it next door to it.
- 42:32Speaker 1: But they're also building that in Buffalo, New York, where
- 42:35Speaker 1: it's very like seasonally structured, like you can't build in
- 42:38Speaker 1: the winter. Time, like you like Nashville, Like, yeah, it's
- 42:41Speaker 1: still snows, but you definitely have a lot longer in
- 42:43Speaker 1: the year you could possibly work on that.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, Yeah. As far as the temperature, yeah, you're right,
- 42:48Speaker 2: You're right. Are you surprised that I sixty five? They
- 42:51Speaker 2: keep saying they reported every single day that it's on time. Yeah,
- 42:57Speaker 2: I am too. Especially they even said with the uh
- 43:00Speaker 2: whether they had this week, with all the rain, the
- 43:02Speaker 2: storms that were coming through, there's still on time. Well,
- 43:05Speaker 2: we had some unbelievable storms this morning, by the way, really,
- 43:08Speaker 2: oh my, you didn't hear it? I baby last I
- 43:12Speaker 2: had thunder and lightning this morning and it was it
- 43:15Speaker 2: was fun.
- 43:16Speaker 1: I enjoyed that kind of stuff. As soon as the
- 43:18Speaker 1: South Korea game ended, I literally turned out TV off,
- 43:21Speaker 1: fell asleep within forty seconds. What time was that? It
- 43:23Speaker 1: was like midnight? Eleven thirty?
- 43:25Speaker 2: Really okay? Yeah, no, I didn't watch a bit of that.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I was in bed by nine thirty. Sorry about that,
- 43:31Speaker 2: but okay yeah. Uh Morgan Wallen, I've been wanting to
- 43:35Speaker 2: talk about this the last couple of days. So last weekend,
- 43:38Speaker 2: there was some a fan next to the stage that
- 43:42Speaker 2: handed their phone a young lady to one of the
- 43:44Speaker 2: security guards and in hopes that Morgan Wallen would take
- 43:49Speaker 2: it and do a little, you know video of them,
- 43:52Speaker 2: you know, him on stage singing the song and all
- 43:54Speaker 2: that kind of crap. Well, he takes the phone and
- 43:58Speaker 2: he waits across the stage. Is that appropriate for the
- 44:06Speaker 2: security guard to take the phone because there's a lot
- 44:09Speaker 2: of people that are going both ways, a lot of
- 44:11Speaker 2: people the phone. They were handing it to the security
- 44:16Speaker 2: guard in hopes that the security guard would give it
- 44:19Speaker 2: to Morgan Wallen and do a video. Yes, and do
- 44:23Speaker 2: a video of them on stage and all that kind
- 44:25Speaker 2: of stuff, you know, a little personal moment, that a
- 44:28Speaker 2: momento that they could take home and watch the rest
- 44:30Speaker 2: of their lives. Because you know, Morgan Wallen, Oh, what
- 44:32Speaker 2: an upstanding citizen he is. But so because he only
- 44:37Speaker 2: throws chairs off of buildings outside in Nashville, Tennessee. But
- 44:41Speaker 2: I'm not a Morgan Wallen fan, but I'm sure he's
- 44:46Speaker 2: nice in his way. But I so, some people are
- 44:49Speaker 2: criticizing that Morgan Wallen should have never thrown the phone,
- 44:53Speaker 2: and some people are criticizing, well, the security guard wasn't
- 44:58Speaker 2: doing his job and should have never taken the phone
- 45:02Speaker 2: in the first place. So which way do you stand?
- 45:05Speaker 2: Do you think Morgan Wallen was out of play by
- 45:08Speaker 2: taking the phone out of the hands of the security
- 45:10Speaker 2: guard and throwing it across the stage. Thank goodness they
- 45:15Speaker 2: they identified it later and gave it back to the
- 45:17Speaker 2: young lady that had done, you know, handing it off.
- 45:20Speaker 2: It was her phone originally. Or do you think, uh
- 45:25Speaker 2: that that security guard should have been doing his job?
- 45:28Speaker 1: This is what is it? Really? Because part of me
- 45:32Speaker 1: thinks it part of the blame should go on security guy.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Security guy is there for security, not the hand phones
- 45:39Speaker 1: from fans to the entertainer. Nobody broke the barricade. I mean, like, yeah,
- 45:43Speaker 1: I've seen videos of countless times at concerts a dude
- 45:47Speaker 1: takes a phone from the crowd, takes a video with
- 45:49Speaker 1: it or wait is.
- 45:51Speaker 2: It is it the security guard taking it or is
- 45:53Speaker 2: it the uh uh.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Entertainer entertainer's taking this? Well, this was the security guard
- 45:59Speaker 1: doing it, Like if I'm the security guard, I mean
- 46:02Speaker 1: like Morganwallan had to give some indication that like this
- 46:07Speaker 1: was a fun show or something like I'm like, yeah,
- 46:09Speaker 1: you could say that he shouldn't. He should just not
- 46:10Speaker 1: have taken the phone. That's probably fine. I give him
- 46:12Speaker 1: like ten percent of the blame. Morganwallan also shouldn't have
- 46:15Speaker 1: he either. Won just didn't have to take it out
- 46:18Speaker 1: of the guy's hand, like he didn't have to like
- 46:20Speaker 1: when the security ar handed to him, he didn't have
- 46:22Speaker 1: to claim it. He could have just been like, no,
- 46:25Speaker 1: he didn't have to throw it across the stage, Like
- 46:27Speaker 1: that's just extra, Like that's just like, yeah, you've now
- 46:30Speaker 1: ruined the whole show. Everybody just saw you do that. Yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 1: If even if I'm not the person who got my
- 46:35Speaker 1: phone throw and I'm like, this guy's weird, Like he
- 46:38Speaker 1: just didn't have to take the phone. He could have
- 46:39Speaker 1: just said no to the security guards, Carl or give it.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Back, yeah, And then that would have been probably the
- 46:43Speaker 2: better thing to do, because you know what, then everybody's
- 46:47Speaker 2: going to say, hey, take my phone, take my phone,
- 46:49Speaker 2: take my phone. It's like you've started a whole process.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Because then like you're at least like, look, I understand
- 46:53Speaker 1: he doesn't want to interrupt the show to take this
- 46:55Speaker 1: video right now, maybe, but like as soon as he
- 46:58Speaker 1: took the phone, willingly us to throw it like that?
- 47:01Speaker 1: That's in spite, like, well, I know that was a
- 47:06Speaker 1: bit of a jerk, wasn't it. That was a jerk move,
- 47:09Speaker 1: is the way I look at it. Yeah, it's exactly
- 47:11Speaker 1: what it is. Yeah, And it's like, why are you
- 47:13Speaker 1: doing something like that? Somebody's just having fun.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Some I just spend a lot of money to drive
- 47:17Speaker 2: their park, probably buy a lot of concessions, probably buy
- 47:21Speaker 2: your crappy T shirts, and pay for our ticket to
- 47:24Speaker 2: go see and you just threw their phone across the stage.
- 47:27Speaker 2: I don't think i'd be a fan after that. I
- 47:29Speaker 2: would wait exactly all right, when we come back our two, Uh,
- 47:33Speaker 2: Matthew's taking over the show. We're gonna talk some World Cup.
- 47:35Speaker 2: I don't know what we're talking about. Uh, but I'm
- 47:39Speaker 2: looking I am looking forward to it. Stay right there.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Our two are just cats, coming right up.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 48:05Speaker 2: All right, we're number two on this Friday. Just days
- 48:09Speaker 2: just fly by. I just can't believe that hour flew
- 48:12Speaker 2: by without a doubt. But Uh, anyway, if you want
- 48:15Speaker 2: to give a call, you can do it at five
- 48:16Speaker 2: O two three four fourteen fifty, or you can text
- 48:19Speaker 2: me on the whiskey thief text line five O two
- 48:21Speaker 2: four one four fourteen fifty or tweet meet just the
- 48:23Speaker 2: Cat Radio. I'm excited about this segment. I've been building
- 48:28Speaker 2: it up. I've been building it up in my mind.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Uh In, Matthew, are you ready for World Cup Segment
- 48:35Speaker 2: one oh one with Matthew Childress.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I'm excited? Are you really? I am?
- 48:40Speaker 2: Because you said a little earlier you're a little nervous
- 48:42Speaker 2: about it.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I mean nervous. Always get nervous, like like, even though
- 48:47Speaker 1: like I've done this for a while, I know that
- 48:49Speaker 1: I can, you know, formulate my thoughts correctly, and I
- 48:52Speaker 1: always get nervous, Like for him, I still get nervous
- 48:54Speaker 1: every time we do three man front. It's just like, okay,
- 48:56Speaker 1: even though you have all this stuff, like, am I
- 48:58Speaker 1: going to be able to pretend correctly? Like? Yeah, I
- 49:00Speaker 1: always get nervous, do you? Okay?
- 49:02Speaker 2: See I don't get weird part. By the way, you
- 49:06Speaker 2: can watch us on YouTube too. I keep forgetting to
- 49:08Speaker 2: advertise that YouTube. But you can go to Big X
- 49:12Speaker 2: Sports Radio, Louisville.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Is that right? Yes? Is anybody even on it today? Yeah?
- 49:17Speaker 2: We've had six people on it. Okay, good six people? Good?
- 49:20Speaker 2: H so so I just get excited. I don't get nervous.
- 49:26Speaker 2: I don't know why. I've never been nervous on the
- 49:28Speaker 2: radio yet. I'll tell you when I get nervous though.
- 49:31Speaker 2: So for instance, like if Larry Vott, who one of
- 49:36Speaker 2: my favorite UK media members, when he calls me says Michael,
- 49:39Speaker 2: can you call in our Sunday program.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I get nervous about that. I don't know why. It's
- 49:45Speaker 1: like I do radio every day, but when I call in,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I get nervous about it. But anyway, like when you're
- 49:50Speaker 1: getting interviewed, yes, okay.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I get nervous about that. It's exactly. It's just
- 49:56Speaker 2: to me, it's not interesting, it's weird. But uh, all right,
- 50:00Speaker 2: I am ready for World Cup talk USA is playing
- 50:04Speaker 2: who tonight Paraguay? Where is Paraguay? No idea, you don't
- 50:08Speaker 2: know where it is. I think it's in Central America.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Let's here, I'll look it up right now.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Okay. It is in the very heart of Central South America.
- 50:18Speaker 1: There you go. It is next to closer to Chile. Yeah.
- 50:24Speaker 1: So it's just right in the center, dead center, oh,
- 50:26Speaker 1: center of South America, Central South Americay, okay, all right, So.
- 50:29Speaker 2: I said Central America. But it's in uh in the
- 50:33Speaker 2: center part of South America. Yeah, have you ever been
- 50:35Speaker 2: to South America?
- 50:37Speaker 1: I have not beautiful country, so part of out of
- 50:41Speaker 1: the country.
- 50:42Speaker 2: One time, really that was on your cruise, yeah, which
- 50:46Speaker 2: was allowed because you went where on your cruise.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I went to Belize with to Mexico. Gosh, where was
- 50:51Speaker 1: the last place? I don't remember. It was a place
- 50:53Speaker 1: that we stayed for like four hours. Like the cruise
- 50:56Speaker 1: was really fun, but it like we only got to
- 50:59Speaker 1: stop in each port for like six or seven hours.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I don't like that, so we got to do like
- 51:03Speaker 1: one thing that had to come back. Yeah, whereas I
- 51:05Speaker 1: wish we've spent like a day in each you know
- 51:07Speaker 1: what I mean? And I do.
- 51:09Speaker 2: That's a part of cruises I hate is that they're
- 51:12Speaker 2: there for a few hours. It's like, well, then what's
- 51:14Speaker 2: the point. Just make it to where you charge me
- 51:18Speaker 2: a little more money. I stayed there a lot, a
- 51:20Speaker 2: lot longer.
- 51:21Speaker 1: You know.
- 51:21Speaker 2: The last cruise I went on in February, the one
- 51:24Speaker 2: I took up to the Arctic. Yeah, we would spend
- 51:26Speaker 2: the night in ports, and I loved it. That's what
- 51:28Speaker 2: I wish we would have done. Yeah, so we never rushed,
- 51:31Speaker 2: we never did anything. I mean, but you got to
- 51:33Speaker 2: pay for it unfortunately. All right, Uh, I'm handing the
- 51:37Speaker 2: mic over to you. You were mic one. I'm Mike,
- 51:40Speaker 2: Mike b and so, uh let's talk World Cup.
- 51:45Speaker 1: So before we get into the United States versus Paraguay,
- 51:48Speaker 1: I want to talk about the games we had yesterday.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Oh perfect, I look forward to our good How many
- 51:53Speaker 2: games were yesterday?
- 51:53Speaker 1: There were two. The first one was Mexico yesterday. I
- 51:56Speaker 1: said South America. That's obviously not right. It was against
- 51:59Speaker 1: the Republic of South Africa. Mexico won two nothing. That
- 52:03Speaker 1: sounds like a really boring game, Yes, but this game
- 52:05Speaker 1: had three red cards in it. Annewn suspended for a
- 52:08Speaker 1: full game with the real already this game, these dudes
- 52:11Speaker 1: were flying all over the place, jerseys were getting ripped off.
- 52:14Speaker 1: This is a matchup that has actually some serious history
- 52:17Speaker 1: behind it, and they have a little bit of a
- 52:19Speaker 1: rivalry going. South Africa and Mexico have beef. Yeah. So
- 52:22Speaker 1: you actually might have seen the video before. It's a
- 52:25Speaker 1: really iconic video from the twenty ten World Cup that
- 52:27Speaker 1: was in South Africa. Yeah, the opening match was South
- 52:30Speaker 1: Africa versus Mexico and a dude that you don't know
- 52:34Speaker 1: by the name of Shabalala. Wow, what a name.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Hold on, let me see if I can pronounce that
- 52:39Speaker 2: Shaba walla shabaalala like Shabo laala, and I might be
- 52:43Speaker 2: butchering it, but that's that's theence of his name.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Scored the opening goal, which t he was with South Africa, okay,
- 52:49Speaker 1: and he and his teammates ran over to the corner
- 52:51Speaker 1: flag and they did this like really cool dance and
- 52:54Speaker 1: everything because it was the opening goal of the opening
- 52:57Speaker 1: match of the tournament in their home city, you know
- 52:59Speaker 1: what I mean, and so like it was a big thing.
- 53:01Speaker 1: It's a big celebratory situation. So because of that, they
- 53:05Speaker 1: had this little little bit of bit beef going on.
- 53:07Speaker 1: And then this one was in Stadio Stadium as as Teca,
- 53:11Speaker 1: which is in Mexico City, so it was the opening
- 53:13Speaker 1: game in Mexico City. And the big story from this game,
- 53:16Speaker 1: obviously besides the red cards, was al Jamenez, who plays
- 53:20Speaker 1: for Mexico, scored his first goal for in a World
- 53:23Speaker 1: Cup for Mexico. This is a big deal because in
- 53:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty he almost died on the pitch playing soccer
- 53:30Speaker 1: like he had a head to head collision whoa and
- 53:33Speaker 1: fractured his skull. Who through his blood pressure off and
- 53:36Speaker 1: he almost passed away. So it was like a really
- 53:40Speaker 1: big cool moment for this dude in his home stadium
- 53:43Speaker 1: score the winning goal or technically they go to the
- 53:46Speaker 1: corner and do a little dance and celebrate. Not this
- 53:48Speaker 1: time they did not. He just kind of went to
- 53:49Speaker 1: the crowd and kind of took it all in, okay,
- 53:51Speaker 1: And it was a really cool moment. It was a
- 53:53Speaker 1: really cool like opening like it wasn't the most exciting
- 53:55Speaker 1: exciting game in terms of score, but like I said,
- 53:57Speaker 1: it was really physical, like opened up the play really well.
- 54:00Speaker 1: And it was a cool moment for a guy that
- 54:02Speaker 1: had never scored the World Cup before to finally, you know,
- 54:04Speaker 1: overcome all that stuff.
- 54:05Speaker 2: And so did the three red cards come all at
- 54:08Speaker 2: one time or was it three different times in the game.
- 54:11Speaker 1: It was three different times in the game really late,
- 54:13Speaker 1: but it was three different times in the game, and
- 54:15Speaker 1: it was a lot of most of them were all frustration.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Like it was it was like malicious intent by South
- 54:20Speaker 1: Africa or by South Africa, oh really, and a lot
- 54:23Speaker 1: of it was because the Mexican The Mexico fans are
- 54:26Speaker 1: super volatile when it comes to soccer, Like you hear
- 54:28Speaker 1: all the time when get them in the United States
- 54:30Speaker 1: play each other.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Are they throwing eggs at their fans at their play
- 54:35Speaker 2: opposing players like the Knicks do?
- 54:37Speaker 1: Or no, no, they just they say bad things to
- 54:41Speaker 1: the other team. Like for example, when the United States
- 54:44Speaker 1: and the Mexico play, it's obviously a huge rivalry, like
- 54:47Speaker 1: we've had when we were playing against Mexico. We've had
- 54:49Speaker 1: to stop the game multiple times. So the officials and
- 54:52Speaker 1: people come over there, like the state, like the radio
- 54:55Speaker 1: or like the PA system and say, hey, please stop
- 54:58Speaker 1: saying blah blah. They'll say slurs and space really.
- 55:02Speaker 2: So they'll learn span Oh no, these are the Mexicans
- 55:05Speaker 2: doing this. Okay, now, how to do the South Africans
- 55:08Speaker 2: really understand what they're saying in Spanish?
- 55:10Speaker 1: I don't know. And now that that also might not
- 55:12Speaker 1: have been like I can't hear it. I can't hear
- 55:14Speaker 1: the fans obviously all the time, so that might not
- 55:15Speaker 1: be of that's something that the Mexican fans have done
- 55:19Speaker 1: against the United States before. So like it's there's a
- 55:22Speaker 1: common thing of when Mexico plays these teams in Mexico,
- 55:25Speaker 1: it gets really heated. It's super physical and you know
- 55:27Speaker 1: it usually goes are pretty far away. But that was
- 55:29Speaker 1: the first game.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Uh.
- 55:30Speaker 1: The second game was Chechia versus the Korea Republic.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Was on hold on Chechnia versus who.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Uh, well Korea, the Korean Republic which is South Korea. Okay,
- 55:41Speaker 1: so North Korea does not have a team or do that.
- 55:43Speaker 1: They have a team, but they can't play in the
- 55:45Speaker 1: World Cup because of North Korea stuff, like they don't
- 55:48Speaker 1: ever you know what I mean, Like they they don't
- 55:50Speaker 1: really how sports very much of North Korea, but they
- 55:52Speaker 1: do have a team. Okay, but uh, this is the
- 55:55Speaker 1: first time Chechi has been the World Cup since in
- 55:58Speaker 1: twenty years. So it was a big deal for them.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Their captain and scored the opening goal of this game,
- 56:03Speaker 1: which is a big deal. This one was or was
- 56:08Speaker 1: this game play? This one was also in Mexico. It
- 56:10Speaker 1: was so they got two games yesterday. Yes I could
- 56:12Speaker 1: be wrong, but I do believe it was also in Mexican.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Did did anybody stay? I would think they would want this. Yes,
- 56:18Speaker 1: it was ninety it was like ninety percent Mexican fans really, Okay,
- 56:21Speaker 1: it was Mexico fans and South Korea fans. South Korea
- 56:23Speaker 1: fans love soccer. They do mostly because of a dude
- 56:26Speaker 1: I mentioned our show yesterday, Sun Hung Men, who's really
- 56:29Speaker 1: popular in England. He played for my favorite team, Tottenham
- 56:33Speaker 1: for a long Oh you talked about him yesterday. Yeah,
- 56:34Speaker 1: he played for them like eleven or twelve years. Like,
- 56:36Speaker 1: he's the dude who really got me into watching soccer.
- 56:39Speaker 1: He's their main player in South Korea, so they love him.
- 56:42Speaker 1: He's like a god to them, so they travel all
- 56:44Speaker 1: over the world to watch him play. So they'll go
- 56:46Speaker 1: to Mexico.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Really like Tottenham for a long time in England had
- 56:50Speaker 1: a huge Korean fan following in almost every home game,
- 56:55Speaker 1: Like people in South Korea moved to England to watch
- 56:57Speaker 1: him play soccer.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Seriously, I had no idea because you know, who are
- 57:02Speaker 2: the famous people from Korea? The only one I can
- 57:05Speaker 2: think because I know, uh, what is it? K pop
- 57:07Speaker 2: is getting more and more.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Popular now, is really popular now.
- 57:10Speaker 2: But the only only person I know that's famous from
- 57:13Speaker 2: Korea is the guy that sings the song Gangham style.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Oh yes, I don't know what his name issy, is
- 57:21Speaker 1: that what it is?
- 57:22Speaker 2: Because now it seems like, in course it's going to
- 57:24Speaker 2: come even across my iPhone now even more on social media.
- 57:28Speaker 2: It seems like every video that comes up of a
- 57:30Speaker 2: music song, it's that guy. It's like, is that the
- 57:34Speaker 2: only song he has is Gangham style? And the people
- 57:37Speaker 2: are going nuts. I got drones going throughout the entire state.
- 57:41Speaker 2: I never understand it. But anyway, okay, so how did
- 57:45Speaker 2: the game go?
- 57:46Speaker 1: Uh Korea one? South Korea one. This was like a
- 57:49Speaker 1: more exciting game. So like I said, Jetchi opened the
- 57:51Speaker 1: scoring in it led one mill for a little while
- 57:54Speaker 1: Korea ended up coming back winning two to one. Uh
- 57:57Speaker 1: Son didn't play for very long. You know, he's getting
- 57:59Speaker 1: a little bit older, but he does get to start
- 58:01Speaker 1: this one. There wasn't a lot to talk about. It
- 58:03Speaker 1: was just kind of a fun game to watch if
- 58:04Speaker 1: you liked soccer. This one was a little bit exciting,
- 58:06Speaker 1: but the first one, if you were not a soccer fan,
- 58:08Speaker 1: would have been a lot more enjoyable to watch because
- 58:10Speaker 1: it was, like I said, it was super fights. Yeah,
- 58:12Speaker 1: the fights and stuff I would want to fight. This
- 58:14Speaker 1: one was a very very basic soccer game. Is one
- 58:17Speaker 1: that they're not a great team, but they are super
- 58:21Speaker 1: physical defensively. So it's one where if it's not gonna
- 58:25Speaker 1: be high scoring, but if you can if they can
- 58:27Speaker 1: kind of hold your team to low scoring, there's a
- 58:29Speaker 1: chance that they can win. They can frustrate you really easily.
- 58:32Speaker 1: But South Threa plays at a super fast paced and
- 58:34Speaker 1: they just kind of overwhelmed them after a while. Yeah,
- 58:36Speaker 1: I got you.
- 58:37Speaker 2: I love how you say the lead was one nil?
- 58:40Speaker 2: I mean, what is nil? No means zero?
- 58:43Speaker 1: It does? Is this a what language is just come from?
- 58:46Speaker 1: It's just a soccer term. I think it's an English term.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Oh it is, okay, yeah, because it's like, okay, why
- 58:51Speaker 2: why can't you say one to nothing?
- 58:53Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, that's just what they say, it's.
- 58:55Speaker 2: Nil, okay, all right? Did they have their little scarves
- 58:58Speaker 2: on and everything? Some of them in the fans their house?
- 59:01Speaker 2: Were they celebrating because that one was did the either
- 59:05Speaker 2: You said the Koreans had a bunch of people there,
- 59:08Speaker 2: but did the Chechenians have any fans?
- 59:11Speaker 3: Not?
- 59:11Speaker 1: Really, it was still like seventy percent Mexico fans that
- 59:14Speaker 1: just stayed for the next game, yeah, or like came back. Yeah,
- 59:17Speaker 1: because it's really just it's like the same thing as
- 59:19Speaker 1: when you go to like the Final four and you
- 59:20Speaker 1: buy like the the what's it called, Like, there's like
- 59:26Speaker 1: a name for it. There's the Final four games and
- 59:28Speaker 1: there's championship gas. I forgot what it's called. You can
- 59:30Speaker 1: buy the packages of them. You can buy both Final
- 59:32Speaker 1: four games, like the same thing. So they just came
- 59:34Speaker 1: back and watched next. You can buy both, okay, so
- 59:36Speaker 1: you get the Final four package. I don't know, the semifinals. No.
- 59:40Speaker 1: I meant like there's like a it's not sections or
- 59:43Speaker 1: whatever it's called, like I forget, but you know how
- 59:46Speaker 1: you can buy like your team is playing your game
- 59:49Speaker 1: a session, yes, the session. So yeah, that's basically what
- 59:51Speaker 1: they did. They basically just bought both and then just
- 59:53Speaker 1: came back for the next game. But okay, yeah, that
- 59:56Speaker 1: one was little. That was more of your like soccer
- 59:58Speaker 1: fan kind of game. The first one more exciting if
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: you honestly closer to a hockey matchup then it was
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: a soccer game.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it was fun to watch it, okay, And so
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: the one you enjoyed more, which was was which one?
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I enjoyed?
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: The South three game really the same, So you enjoy
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: the basic soccer game more than you enjoy the fights.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I think I would enjoy the fights like that. It's
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: got me interested now that I want to go back
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: and watch just the fights.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: It was.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: It was entertaining to see that. But like Mexico scored
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: first and then check sorry, South South Africa immediately got
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: a red card which brought them down to ten men,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: and then got another one who brought them down to nine.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Oh wait wait wait, oh so you can't even replace those.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Players, you won't. You have to play. Yeah, you have
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: to play. It's like a penalty box in hockey exactly.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: But I have no idea yea, so for the entire game.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: If your goalkeeper gets a red card, you can't even
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: replace him with another goalkeeper. You have to put It's
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: like putting a fielder on the map on to pitch,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: like you have to go get somebody else who's not
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: a goalkeeper. Okay, that's amazing to replace your goalkeeper. Wow,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: because you legally have to have a keeper. I'm telling you,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I know nothing about soccer, so this is all new
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: to me. Yeah. So it's at one point they were
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: playing with nine men and they were already down one goal.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: So it's kind of just over at that point, Like,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: there's no way nine men are going to come back
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: down one nil when they're playing a team at home
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: with all the fans behind them. Like, I guess there's
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: a chance, but it just so for me, that game
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: kind of died off early. Like it was fun to
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: watch the scraps and stuff, but it was just like
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you kind of knew what the outcome was going to
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: be behalftime. Yeah see.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: And now now if I go to a baseball game,
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: I say, yeah, who won the game? Yeah, the Reds
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: won one nil. Are people going to look at me
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: and it's like, what are you talking about?
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Yeah? They look at you like you're weird?
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. This is not soccer, so I get it.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Are are there any other soccer terms that I need
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: to learn besides the nil thing? What are some particular
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: soccer terms that most people that do not watch soccer
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: on a regular basis need.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: To be learning? Right now, do you know what pitch means? No? So,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: the pitch is what it's called for the field, like
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: they call it a pitch, and it's because and technically
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: hold on, start over again. It is what it means
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: what it means the field like that, like the soccer pitch,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: not the soccer field. Technically, we should be using this
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: for every type of field, like football field and everything.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Why they call it that because every field is pitched,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: which means it's actually like it's not flat, it's curved
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: so the water can drain off of it, you know,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: especially a football field. That's the legal term for that. Oh,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I didn't know that. They just I mean, they call
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: it technically a field, but they call it a pitch
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: because it's pitch. That's the only reason. Interesting. That's something
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I haven't learned either. What's another soccer term. There's no
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: baseline or sideline, it's goal line and touch line. Touch
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Line means sideline, so if the ball goes out of bounds,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: it means it's out of touch, which means you can't
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: touch it anymore. Yeah. Wow. And then the goal line
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: is the one I assume along. Yeah yeah, so instead
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: of just calling it a baseline, it's a goal line.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Wow. Okay, yeah, you know, are you surprised? I don't
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: know this kind of stuff. I mean not really, I
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: just don't know.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: All right, give me one more. I think.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of it because I don't even
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: know the positions. I know you got goalie and the
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: rest of the players.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Uh, there's something that you're gonna if you do watch
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: the World Cup, you're gonna see a lot of VR.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: You know, VR is I have no idea. So VR
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: is soccer's version of ABS, where it's like it's a
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: lot of high tech cameras that are throughout the throughout
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: the stadium. They have people monitoring them at all times,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: twenty four to seven, and it's if there's any offsides calls,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: if there's any fouls or anything like that, they can
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: review them. And it's like it's like a mixture of
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: the first down line in football, but with a lot
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: of sensors on it. They can they can narrow it
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: down to like the micrometer h of Like if your
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: toenail is ahead of the defender, they can get that
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: in ah, come on, yes, And they have goal like
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: if the ball acrosses the goal line by a centimeter
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: they can tell. Yeah, it's like that's what it is,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: a bunch of cameras that track all that. Yeah, So
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: like you're gonna see a lot of VAR in this tournament. Yeah,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: it's not a lot of people really don't like it.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: It's too too perfect.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Yeah, do you like that how the World Cup is
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: playing commercials in the middle of games. No, people are
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: really criticizing this.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: No, I don't like it, but I understand it. Do
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: you watch for the sole fact of they have to
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: have the hydration breaks which they enacted in the last
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: World Cup and Katar because those weren't a thing before
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: the heat thing. Yeah they were. They weren't a thing
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: before the twenty twenty two So but in twenty twenty
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: two they didn't have those. You just watched the hydration breaks.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: You really just sat there and watched these dudes drink water.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: So like, if they want to fill them with commercials,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: then sure, whatever, I don't care.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Telemundo's not doing it. They said they didn't take any
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: part of it, and a lot of people are like, well,
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: then why are the networks taking a part of this?
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: It's a it's another money grab.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I can agree with that totally, But
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: at the same time, I'm just I just look at
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: my phone during it's whatever, because it's either that or
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: you literally just watch these new drink water three. Do
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: you know these announcers that are announcing the games. Uh
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: some of them. I don't remember all of them by name.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: And these are guys that know soccer. Is that fair
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: to say or are they just picking it up for
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: the first time and getting a gig and getting paid.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Well, these dudes like no soccer. They do it all
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: over the world. They usually pair an English announcer with
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: with a American announcer. That's how all the World Cups
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: have done, like whether it's Fox or anything like that. Yeah,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: and then obviously they Telemundo has their own Spanish and
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: every country has their own announcers for the World Cup,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: which is really cool. Yeah.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I notice on YouTube I now have this like an
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: only soccer channel now, Yeah, which is kind of cool.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: But it was if you're into it, you can just boom,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: got the channel on and you got nothing but soccer
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: on it.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: But how much do you think this?
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: I know it's going to give a lot of attention
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: to soccer in the United States, But do you really
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: think it will bring people over to the game. Yes,
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: even if the United States loses early, Yes, really I
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: think it will.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I think that the whole I think if the United
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: States goes deep, it will bring a lot. I think
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: the whole like packing of the stadiums, that people will understand,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: like how big this is all over the world. I
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: think this will It's not gonna make a huge jump
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: like this is passing basketball or you know what I mean,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Like yeah, but I think that you will see it
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: to the point where people are starting to understand the
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: cultural impact around the world of soccer compared to the US,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: and you will see a huge rise in soccer fans
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: after the world comes out. All right, So what time
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: is the game tonight? The game is at nine o'clock tonight,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: and they call it a game or a match. It's
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: tch I mean it's a match. But okay, so why
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: did they call it a match? Do you know? Like
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: technically tennis is tennis is not match? Its games fact thing. Yeah,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: but uh, game is it? What time? I don't know
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: anything a lot about the game before, Like it's Canada
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: versus Bosnia. They're kind of tea both of them. Yeah,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Canada is better than Bosnia, so they should win that game.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: But I don't rely know a lot about it. But
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: the game tonight, like the United States Arts of Paraguay,
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: we've played Paraguay around seven or eight times total. We've
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: beaten them five times. We've won our last three. I
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: know that this team has a couple of players that
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: play in the Premier League. They're really dominant and they're
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: attack their defense is pretty soft. So it's one where
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: United States should win this game. It should be not
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: It's not gonna be very easy. I don't think any
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: game in the group stage or in the knockout tation
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: will CUB is gonna be easy. But if you're somebody
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: who has no idea what you're watching and you're tuning
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: into the United States mag national team for the first time,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: some players will look out for are obviously Christian Polistic.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: He's the main dude. He's Captain America. He's Lebron James
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: of soccer. These are his nicknames. He is thrust thrust
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: into the forefront of soccer in America and he's a
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: big name. Tyler Adams, he was the captain last time.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: He is the defensive midfielder Weston McKinney. He's one of
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: the better midfielders in the Italian the Italian Premiership. Chris
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Richards he is a really dominant center back for Crystal Palace.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: He plays in England, and the last one I'll give
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you is Anthony Robinson. He is arguably the best left
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: back in England right now. So those are some like
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: like four or five guys to look out for on
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: this team. If you want somebody that you can buy
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: into that's not a starter. Who I think that will
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: be a fan favor in this tournament. That's Malik Tillman. Lake.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Tillman's gonna come off the bench. He's a forward, so
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: you know he's a striker. He's there to score. He
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: plays for Coventry, who is the second league in England,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: so he's not in the highest league. But this dude,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I mean he scores a goal almost every single game.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Oh wow, he's bred to score. He's super exciting, he
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: brings energy, he loves this team and he's worked really
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: hard to get here. People are really excited to see
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: him play. That's the thing about. The One thing about
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: the United States is our midfield is the strongest. So
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: you're gonna see a plethor of shots on goal and
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: there's gonna be a lot of attacking, especially with Russio
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Pacatino as manager. He's a very offensive minded manager. But
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: they don't only have a solid striker they have for
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Lauraen Baligan, who's a dude they picked up here the
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: past couple of years who is really good, but he
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: kind of he's hot and cold. He's either really on
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: or really off. So at the striker position, you're gonna
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: se dudes like Ricardo Peppi, like Malik Tillman, like Floren Baligan,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: all get time in a lot of these games. So
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: it's really just gonna be whose time is it. Who's
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: the one gonna step up? And in my opinion's probably
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: gonna be Mileak Tillman. I love that dude. He's excited
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: to want.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: Is there any player that's kind of from around our
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: area that we can kind of have a sentile little.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Root for, like the Louisville area, Yeah.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Or Kentucky or from the South or something like that.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Is there not?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Not? In not that I can like think, I mean,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: like I don't know these dudes historical, Okay, so there
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: probably are. I just know where a lot of these
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: guys are playing right now. Yeah, I got you? Okay, good?
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: What you know what?
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: You were worried you couldn't take up a whole segment?
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: You took up more than a whole segment.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: You did a great job. Like I said, I always
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: get nervous, but you.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Shouldn't get nervous. You do a phenomenal job. You know,
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: give yourself a little more credit. Come on, you need
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: some confidence.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: It was fun. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: We're gonna talk and get about it again on Monday
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: because we're have a recap, aren't we.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Yes, well, yeah, and I look forward. I enjoyed this.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: So anyway, I I'm not gonna watch it, but i'll
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: I'll let you talk about it and I'll be engaged
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: in it. Okay, Okay, I'll well, I shouldn't say I
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: might tune in for a couple of minutes or something,
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: just see what's going on.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: You should at least open it and see how you feel.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's your it's your home country playing
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: in the World Cup. I give it a shot.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, even in the Olympics, I don't
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: watch all the different sports, so I don't get into gymnastics. Okay, yeah,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: but there's other sports I'll want.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Comparing gymnastics to the largest sports planet, You're exactly correct.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: I might like to watch more gymnastics than there's a
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: lot of sports I'd rather watch than soccer. So, but
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: don't hate me for that's okay, I get it, and
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: I'm not gonna hate you all for it. But anyway, uh,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: we gotta take another break. When we get back, we're
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: gonna we're gonna get through your text here, because got
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: some good ones now. Five O two four one four
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: fourteen fifty text me on the Whiskey Thief text line.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Stay right there.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Again, you say you want a free.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: PROB two four one four fourteen fifty wanted text on
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: the Whiskey Thief text line, which I'm going to get
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: through right now. Uh. Did you like where uh you
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: know you're playing Fleetwood Mac and that's Stevie Nick singing
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: that song. Did you like where Taylor Swift was wearing
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: and all her friends were wearing little twist on Nix.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: The other she was actually Stevie Nicks. Yeah, I saw that, Okay,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: and your thoughts, I mean it's goofy, goofy, Okay, yeah,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: okay whatever.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: One person texted in ask Matt what a friendly in
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: soccer is? Tonight's match is a friendly?
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: A friendly in soccer is when two nations play each
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: other and there's not really any consequences, So like what
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: do you mean consequences like you keep track of like oh,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: this team beat that team, like that goes into the record,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: but it's not for like, for example, they have World
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Cup qualifying matches. Okay, you have to get a certain
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: amount of points in those to qualify for the Cup.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: These don't have any like if you lose it does
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: it's not really like you don't you don't lose any points.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: There's nothing for it. It's literally just for these two
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: teams to go out there. It's like a scrimmage kind
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: of like it's.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Really okay, it's like a really this is not like
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: an elimination game.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: This one I will say, I will fight back. The
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: texture is wrong and this this is not a friendly.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: This is this is a really this is a group
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: stage match, like the tournament is started. This this counts
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: for something like you have to like if you win
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: this game, you get three points, if you tie, get one,
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: you have to get you basically have to be in
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: the top three to make it into the knockout. So no,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: this is not a friend.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: So Team USA, do they have a shot at winning
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: the World Cup or as isn't it real?
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: Probably not the year, probably not. That's just I mean,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: the top five teams in the world are just miles
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: above everyone. It can be opened. It depends. Like Morocco
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: made a really good run in the last. In the
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: last I think it's twenty eighteen like that. That was
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: a team that really surprised people and they really you know,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: stepped up. But there is a history of host nations
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: going above and beyond and surprising whenever they're playing on
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: their home soil. Yeah. So, and we're the host nation,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: and we talked about it last yesterday that a lot
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: of countries coming into America who are going to have
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: to adapt to our weather and we're gonna have a
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: big advantage on that. Yeah, so I wouldn't they don't.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: I'd say they don't have a chance to win. I
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: will put on here that I think they do better
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: than they have before in terms of I think, I
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: think that we make a quarter final, which we've we've
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: only made like once ever, so I think it'd be
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: fun to watch.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Where are they playing the games in Canada. I think
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: it's clearly either Montreal.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Toronto, Vancouver or Okay, I don't know, honestly, I'm okay
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: it's got to be one of those, all right.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Josh texted in, said, since we know Matt is leaving,
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: gotta see if we can get justin to pop on
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: a phone, call our Google meet for a few minutes
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: one last time for the old battleship Scoots and Toots
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: in a couple of weeks.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Can we do that? If he's not it isn't he
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: working in the mornings right now? I'll call him.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: And ask him if he do something like that, that
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: would be a lot of fun, and just have him
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: come on for a few minutes if he's got time. So, uh,
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: John here, I do not watch soccer, let alone the
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: World Cup. However, with you guys talking about it, might
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: just keep an eye out for some games.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: It's gonna be fun. Like I said, if you've never
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: watched it or you're not a big fan, at least
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: tune into one in the United States game just for
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: the fact that you're watching your country play.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I am definitely cheering for the great USA. Y'all
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: have a great weekend. See now, us talking about it
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: has influenced somebody to give us a Maybe.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I thought that was funny.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: I mean, come on, take a little pride in that
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: it's all right then whatever Patrick said, learning about the
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: World Cup is like learning about horse racing, which I
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: knew nothing about. Also, Matthew, did you hear about the
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: Kansas supporting the Algerian team?
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I did not know that. What's he talking about? Do
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: you know? Uh? No, I'm about to look it up
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: and find out.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Okay, I'd like to I'd like to know a little
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: more about that. I got that one right there. Ohio,
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: guys said, So, matt won't be inviting Scoots and Trevor
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Kelsey to his wedding.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: I said that one, am I justin? I don't know.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: I literally only know Trevor from the three times i've
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: met him in here and when he walks into work.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: And that's the KRC guy, that's the one, yes who's replacing.
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I've met him one time. Really nice guy and
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: I didn't know how I was meeting him. But anyway, Yeah,
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: he seems like a really nice guy. I should have
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: him come on here for a few minutes. Then I
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: would get to know him. You know, that's how you
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: get to know people. Now you don't have to stay
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: in a dorm. But I think it's a good idea,
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: A nice attempt for Mark Pope what he's doing. But
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: maybe I should have Trevor get in here. I would
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: remember his name, he would get to know me, and
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: it would be a nice situation.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fine. Do you think that's a waste of time?
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: I mean, that's fine. Or does he live in Lexington Trevor? Yeah,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: well he lives out here.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: He lives in Louisville. Yeah, and works for that other place. Okay, good,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Then what are you talking about? Who is Trevor Kelsey?
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: I thought that was the KRC guy. He's the one
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: who produces the show. Oh no, I don't know him. Okay, yeah,
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: I've never met him in my life. I thought, who's
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: the guy that hosts it? Steven Peak?
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Steven Peak?
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: It only works for KSR and he lives in Or
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: he does, but he lives in all right, Well I
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: need to invite him in here.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Then I would remember. See, I don't even remember his name.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: This is horrible. I was like, yeah, I want to
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: bring Trevor Kelsey on now.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: No, no, no, I don't need to bring another producer on,
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: but another host I should bring on and I'll do
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: that sometime. One person said Michael. Usually a podcast listener,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: but listening live some this morning. Soccer isn't my favorite,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: but I'll at least watch some of the USA games.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: It was good to have Matthew provide some soccer info.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Chris and Jacksonville. I have good day for you from you, Chris.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: That's kind of cool that he's listening from Jacksonville, Florida
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: and he learned about soccer today.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I'm glad that I can spread some wealth.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: See, I'm telling you, this is a good segment. And
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: during the World Cup, you should do a segment every
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: time Team USA or how often should you? Should we
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: do it once a week or should we do it
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: a little more? Because how often will Team USA play?
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: They play tonight, when will they play again?
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I think they'll probably play like once a week, okay
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: during the group stage. I don't have the dates memorized.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: It's okay, you don't have to have a memory. I
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: think it's about once a week. Okay, so we can
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: do it once a week.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: So we should do it once a week kind of
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: like our gen X which I miss word of the week.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: We can do it like twice a week because we'll
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: do like one I can do one before the game.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: That's what we should do. You're you said it exactly,
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: so we should do it Monday Friday. Okay, we can
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: do that and if Team USA will adjust to win,
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Team USA is playing on the schedule because if I
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: don't want to do it to where we missed it
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: the before the game, because I want you to talk
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: about the team we're playing. Yeah, so yeah, so right now,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: if they're not playing till next Friday, then we'll do
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: it Friday. We'll do a recap on Monday. But if
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: they're playing Thursday, then we'll do the pregame on Thursday.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: So I like that twice a week.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: I I I'm being a sincere as I can right now.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I am looking forward to this. So they play obviously
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: play today. Yeah, they play next Friday, all right, which
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: is fine. I'm off next Friday because where are you.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I'm doing the thing for Paulina on Friday next Friday.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: This is the first I've heard of this. What day yesterday?
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: I don't remember what thing you're doing her?
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: A specific question on next Friday? Well you didn't have
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: to get that specific? How else must well say it?
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: You just say?
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: Hey, I can't say it on air and then I
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: get it.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm doing so, I'll be here Thursday.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: So the preview, So this is a morning thing that's
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: going on next Friday. Yes, oh, and then the following
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Monday we'll hear all about it.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Wait, so we can do the preview on Thursday. I'll
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: come back on Monday and I'll do that, and then
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: the next game they have is the following Thursday, June
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: twenty fifth.
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: Okay, all right, then, so that's all right. So the
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: next Thursday, we'll do the pregame segment.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: How's that? Since you're off Friday, who's gonna fill in
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: for your next Friday? They have not told me. They've
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: known that I've for a while, but they haven't told
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: me yet. This is just okay, I'll I'll settle my
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: stuff down in a minute. Ohio guy said, with door
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Matt leaving, you should ask Josh her to be your
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: new producer, be interesting producer.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, to lunch with him. Sorry, yeah, yeah,
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: you're right. I consider Josh a friend. I like Josh.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: I don't care that he's the ad at u of
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: l He's a friend, even though you know the the
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: other host in the afternoon on this radio station, doesn't
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: believe that I'm actually friends with him. I don't know
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: what the big deal is. It was funny when when
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: we had lunch, he goes, yeah, he texted me to
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: see if you were really having lunch with me.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: I'm like, what's the big deal anyway.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: I can't know other people outside of UK and be
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: friends with him. But whatever one person's texted, I think
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: it's good. Like going to camp with the whole UK,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: going to live the basketball team living in the Wildcat Lodge.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think it's okay, it's fine.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: I don't know if it will resolve with the issues
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: they had last year.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Well, they didn't it last year. They do the thing
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: where they just went on like a big trip together
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: or something like that. I don't remember what it was.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: They stayed like in a cabin with no phone. Oh
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: that's right. Yeah.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: I wonder if that's where the animosity started that team
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: did not get along, and why we can't talk about
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: it and just say, hey, just admit it, just say that,
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: you know that was that was a good portion of
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: the problem this team, and that because guess what, Just
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: like I said earlier, Matthew, sometimes people don't get along
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: with each other. It doesn't matter what you do. They're
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: not going to get along with each other for some reason.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: They just don't mesh together. You and I meshed together,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: but there are people that don't mesh with me.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: That's just how jobs are. You're not gonna have exactly
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: every single person friends with you. Yeah, so I'm glad
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: you think it's a good idea. Text, I think it's
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: a good idea. Why not try something unique and different.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: Have them live in the lodge and then you know what, afterwards,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: go somewhere and have a nice long weekend or a
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: week away from just basketball and have them get to
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: know each other all over again and mix up the roommates.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: Then you really got some when you find out after
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: the eight weeks of living in the Wildcat Lodge, you're
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: going to know which players aren't really.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Messing with each other. And then, you know what, take
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: the next week after that and get those players to
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: live with each other. That's how you do it there, Matthew.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want that idea.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, the Familia announced yesterday. I can't believe I'm not
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: butchering that name anymore. The additions of Andrew Harrison and
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: Khalil Whitney, both joining the team for the second straight year,
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: adding to the team along with Willow Calely Stein, Ree, Travis,
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Archie Goodman.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Isn't Khalil Whitney the one trying to come back to
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: college basketball? Khalil Whitney, I don't think so is he.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: I think he is.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: I haven't heard that one, but okay, I don't think
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: you're right about that. But so anyway, I like this
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: starting five here, and I love the fact that Reed Travis.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Can you just come Little Whitney eyes returned to college
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: basketball former Kentucky. Little Whitney says he's exploring options to
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: come back to college and evolving in the rules. Yeah, okay,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: well I want to be played twenty nineteen, twenty twenty season.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: He wants to come back.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: I know it's it's it's just it's too much. But
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: on the of course, he hasn't been confirmed yet, but
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: on the Familia website it does show Sean McNeil, who
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: played for West Virginia on the team and Ohio State,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: Chris Coffee who played for Georgetown, and James Maynor Bell
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: who played for Villanova as the foster completes itself with
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: eight player. So I I do enjoy this tournament. You
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: as well, don't you? We both enjoy this tournament.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Yea. I like it.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: It's a lot of fun, and I think what's keeping
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: it together is the whole uk U of L thing.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: It really should be just be a uk U of
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: L tournament, shouldn't it.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: I mean that's basically what they're doing this time, because
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: they're doing, yeah, series of three. So you like the
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: new format because you weren't on. I don't like the
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Oh you don't. Wow, I love it. It's just super forced.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: They realize that most of their viewership comes from those games. Yes,
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: So they're just trying to basically offset the lack of
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: viewership and the other games by saying, hey, we'll just
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: put the the you know, the biggest game of our
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: tournament in the first game, so they'll play they'll play
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: a series of three, whereas every single year they've tried
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: to set the bracket up where like Louisville Kentucky will
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: meet at some point yea. And the last couple of
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: times they've done it, obviously they haven't worked out because
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: one team is not done well or the you know,
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: you know whatever it was too, So it just it's
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: a money grab and that's I just don't like it.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: I wish it was more natural. Whish they just tick
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: stuck with the way it was. Yeah, but it's more
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: of a money grab. I mean, you know, they up
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: the price to two million dollars what they can win,
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: so they got to win that somehow, I mean, grab
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: that money somehow. So that's the way they're doing it,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: is relying on UK U of L fan bases. I
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: I think it will this, I'm with you, it might
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: ruin it the excitement, and if they lose UK and
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: U of L fan bases, then I kind of feel
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: like that tournament's going to be over.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Probably, Yeah. I mean there's just not like a
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: lot of many there's not as many fan bases that
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: watch it as like little Kentucky fans do. So, yeah,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: they kind of rely on these two teams to begin it.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Why is Pope taking so long to fill his last
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: coaching position. He's trying to get one particular coach that's
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: trying to get an NBA head coaching job.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: I mean, he's doing interviews for the coach with the
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: least amount of experience right now. He wants to get
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: somebody the first try, all.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Right, but I listen, I would rather him take his
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: time than hurry up and just bring somebody in for
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: the sake of bringing somebody in. Text her, I kind
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: of like that he is, let's make certain because he's
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: he's hitting home runs so far, I hope so uh,
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: and recruiting has kind of indicated that bringing Mo Williams
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: in has been I hope a help. I think I help.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: I feel pretty confident about that, So I'm okay with
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: him taking his time. I mean, should he hurry and
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: try and just for the sake of hiring an assistant
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: coach hire somebody?
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I should take his time. Do you think right
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: there too? Do you think the success and recruiting in
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: the past week or so is becoming enough that no
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: matter what happens the season, Mark Pope, that's another year. No,
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: you don't think absolutely not. So if it ends up
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: being the same thing, like yeah, even if it's like
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: a little bit better than last season, like maybe you
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: you think it's still done. Well, it's a little bit better.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: I mean like maybe instead of the first round game
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: coming down to a game winner, you win that easily,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: but you still go out in the second round to
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: a better team or something like that.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: I still think it's tough. I really think he's got
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: to get to the sweet sixteen or bust.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: I think so too.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and that's me being realistic. I mean, we
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: expect better things here and people fans are getting frustrated.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: There's a lot which was you know John here, local
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: John's He'll support whoever the coach is, no matter what,
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: and there are fans out there is like, no, we're done.
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: We want Billy Donovan. And that's the part that's frustrating.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure it's frustrating to Mark Pope, but
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: he just has to succeed and it's got.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: To be this year.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: I really feel like that seat is warm and it
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: should be. But all right, we gotta take our last break.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: I'll get back to your text as soon as we
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: get back, and then we'll close it out for this week.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: So stay right there.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: One more segment of Justin Kat's coming up on this Friday.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: All right, our last segment on this Friday. I hope
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: everybody's got a big weekend planned on this you know,
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: this June weekend. But one person said, getting back to
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: the Algerian comment, The residents and officials in Lawrence, Kansas
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: have warmly adopted the Algerian soccer team national soccer team
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: as their hometown squad for the twenty twenty six FIFA
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: World Cup. Algeria's selected the University of Kansas and Lawrence
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: as its official base camp for the tournament. I think
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: that's pretty cool that they did that. I didn't know that.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: I think chad Nuga is one of those cities that's
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: done the same thing. I'm kind of envious of that.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: I would adopt the team and support them. Can you
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: imagine if they're staying at your house? I assume that
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: they have enough money to stay in a hotel and
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff, don't they?
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: Yes? Okay, I don't know.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: One person said, with Scoots gone, can Dormat bring back
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: the joke of the day?
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: I cannot. Why is that? Well, that's just this thing.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I see. I'm with you.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: That's kind of it, just like the whole suck at Scoots.
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: I mean, we can't do that anymore, no matter who's
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: sitting into the chair over there.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Uh oh am, I saying.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: It wrong, lah Familia Khalil Whitney did try it but
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: it didn't happen.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that's completely like they're just not like people.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Am I saying it wrong? Okay, it's gotta be La
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: Famelia or is it loave Familia. I'm still butchering that.
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: I wish they would change it. You know, they did
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: that with you because cal cal Perry, and he's gone,
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: let's let's change the name to something else.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Don't you think so? Shouldn't it be called something else?
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Are you?
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: Because you got some players now that did not play
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: for John cal Perry?
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think you have to change it anyway,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: just because it is Cali Perry. Who. Yeah, Like, it's just.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: It's not a knock. I'm just saying, let's let's let's
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: update it. Let's let's get something a little funder to say.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: But uh, Charles Barkley uh stayed in an interview yesterday
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: that he hopes he gets fired by ESPN regarding his
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: comments on CARDI B.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: I think he just wants to get fired by ESPN.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: Go back to tn T, is that what it is?
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: But tn T doesn't carry the games anymore, do they know?
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: So why would you want to go back to T
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: T tn T.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: I'm just saying I think he just wants to leave ESPN.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: If he's really saying that, I think that's the Yea.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: He's got six or seven years left in his contract,
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: and because of the comments that he made, he's like,
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: I'm you just fire me.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: I Is he daring ESPN to fire him or do
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: you think it's a joke.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: I think he's saying it satirically.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope so, because they're the only part of
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: the NBA that's fun to watch.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Like, I mean, he definitely has plenty of money. He's
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: probably not worry about the job anymore. So I think
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: he's saying, like, look, if they want to fire me
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: over that, they can. Yeah. Can anybody take jokes anymore?
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: I mean, Michael, we know that, we know that they can't. Dude,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: this is a news. Yeah. I just wish we could
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: change about that.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: On this date, now, I'm going to talk a little
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: bit something I don't like talking about, but I want
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: to because I think this is pretty significant on today's date.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: In nineteen eighty seven, President Reagan made his famous speech
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: in Berlin, and it's the whole thing about Gorbachov Gorbachev
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: tear down this wall? Do you remember that speech at all?
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: I know you weren't alive, but have you ever heard that? Maybe,
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: like I wouldn't be able to No, probably not. Yeah,
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: it's mister Garbachev tear down this wall. And he was
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: talking about the Berlin Wall because there was East Berlin
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: and West Berlin.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: You know that, right? Yes, I know that. Okay, thanks
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: for yawning. Sorry, I know I'm sorry about that. But
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: so you've heard that speech though? Yes?
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Or no?
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: I mean maybe I don't know. All right, Well, it
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: made me think, what are some famous speeches? Uh?
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: Do you remember who said this? Ask not what you
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: do for your country, but what you can do for
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: your country? That Teddy Roosevelt?
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: John F. Kennedy. I've heard that speech, but I just
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: know who was.
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Okay, that's okay, we choose to go to the moon.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Do you remember that speech at all? It's been lots
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: of movies. By the way, is that Nixon?
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: That's John F. Kennedy again again?
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: Yeah, don't give up, don't ever give up.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: No idea. Really, I like you said, these are all
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: like I've heard of all these. I cannot tell you
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: any of these who they.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: That's Jim Valvano on his whole spe Yes, yes, we're
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: still doing president. I'm sorry I messed you up there.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: All right, I'll do one that's not a president, but
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: I have a dream.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: Very good. Uh.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: A person said today, I am the luckiest man alive
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: lou garrigg on when he you know, he had Louke
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: Gerrigg's disease. So when he was saying this famous speech.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Disease is that is that.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: It's a muscular disease. I believe is what it is.
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: But yeah, people have it and it's it's uh, it's
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: life threatening. So it's just really a shame. One person said,
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: Barkley is mostly untouchable. I kind of feel that way too.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: If the mouse is bent out of shape over that U,
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: then they will get rid of one of the best
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: personalities they have. She seems familiar. Huh that is true,

- 1:34:27Speaker 1: There. You see, I thought we were doing still doing
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: President That's okay.
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: I get it, I get it. Yeah, you messed up
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: from that standpoint. I don't have a problem with that,
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: so I'm not going to criticize you of it. But
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: I just I just felt like, you know, what are
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: some of the famous speeches people said, because that, to
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: me was iconic in my day. When President Reagan said,
