- 1:47Speaker 1: of the week. Remember, this is not cumulative. This is
- 1:50Speaker 1: not a season long list. If you got gripes, put
- 1:53Speaker 1: them in the comments. If you got questions, put them
- 1:55Speaker 1: in the comments. This is who I think based on
- 1:58Speaker 1: just pure film, no narratives, no BS. This is a
- 2:02Speaker 1: true film breakdown, junkie, nerdy. All right, let's get started
- 2:08Speaker 1: with number six. The New York Giants and Jackson Dart.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Jackson Dart, to me, played one heck of a game.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And he did it because he was under center. It's
- 2:19Speaker 1: a new look over there for the Giants. Under center,
- 2:22Speaker 1: smash mouth football, Kim Scadaboo, all these guys going crazy.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Isaiah Likely, Malik Neighbors, all these dudes. I was really
- 2:31Speaker 1: impressed with the way he played. More importantly, I was
- 2:34Speaker 1: really impressed with the game that offensive coordinator Matt Nagy called.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I was with Matt Nagy. for a total of five years,
- 2:40Speaker 1: three in Kansas City when he was a quarterback coach
- 2:42Speaker 1: and two in Chicago. This is the first full year
- 2:45Speaker 1: that he's been able to really dive deep and just
- 2:49Speaker 1: call plays. It was unreal. They beat Dallas 28 to
- 2:55Speaker 1: 20 on Sunday night football. I feel like the Cowboys
- 2:58Speaker 1: and the Giants are always opening up Sunday night football
- 3:00Speaker 1: at home. The stats were really efficient. I would say
- 3:05Speaker 1: watching the film And we're going to break him down
- 3:09Speaker 1: later in this show, his actual film. I would say
- 3:12Speaker 1: it was good. There were some throws, a lot of
- 3:15Speaker 1: underneath stuff, but really efficient moves of football. No interceptions,
- 3:20Speaker 1: 134.2 rating. More importantly, almost 80% completion rate. The Cowboys defense,
- 3:26Speaker 1: they're awful. They really are. It's hard. You're throwing flat
- 3:29Speaker 1: routes left and right. You're doing all this type of stuff.
- 3:32Speaker 1: But he was really good running the football and honestly dove.
- 3:34Speaker 1: 11 carries, 54 yards. Harbaugh man it just it seems
- 3:40Speaker 1: like Harbaugh has got that hard nose Baltimore Baltimore style
- 3:46Speaker 1: demeanor and New York if New York Giants can play
- 3:48Speaker 1: like this I think their defense has to get a
- 3:49Speaker 1: little bit better. they are going to be a playoff
- 3:52Speaker 1: team without a doubt. So I love the fact that
- 3:55Speaker 1: they were able to convert 9 out of 10 third
- 3:58Speaker 1: downs before the final kneel down. That's right, 90%. You
- 4:03Speaker 1: didn't have one single 20-yard completion, so it was a
- 4:05Speaker 1: lot of dink and dunk. So you have to stay
- 4:07Speaker 1: ahead of the chains. They were a lot in third manageable.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And that has to do everything with Jackson Dart's legs.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I thought it was really, really good. Dart repeatedly moved
- 4:16Speaker 1: the chains and Here's the thing, too. I don't know
- 4:19Speaker 1: the exact stat, but the Giants had five drives, I think,
- 4:24Speaker 1: in the second half, and all of them were over
- 4:25Speaker 1: six and a half minutes. I mean, they chewed up clock.
- 4:28Speaker 1: They got in 22 personnel. They got in 13 personnel.
- 4:30Speaker 1: They went to do it. The story of this game, though,
- 4:32Speaker 1: is Isaiah Likely, him and Jackson Dart. And I think
- 4:34Speaker 1: that Jackson Dart throwing to Isaiah Likely is very much
- 4:38Speaker 1: like a Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelsey connection. I'm not
- 4:42Speaker 1: calling Jackson Dart Patrick Mahomes. What I'm saying is Matt
- 4:45Speaker 1: Nagy is using Isaiah Likely exactly like Travis Kelsey. Over
- 4:49Speaker 1: the middle, short intermediate, let him run after catch, all
- 4:52Speaker 1: this stuff. I called this back in March on NFL Live.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I think that a reliable tight end for an offense
- 4:59Speaker 1: is something that you need to have because if you
- 5:02Speaker 1: don't have it, it's sort of like a safety blanket
- 5:05Speaker 1: for Jackson Dart and time after time again, On third down,
- 5:09Speaker 1: he was coming to him, and once again, his running
- 5:12Speaker 1: established the physical tone. He had a 22-yard opening drive run,
- 5:17Speaker 1: late hit penalty, cam scattered. I just think when you
- 5:21Speaker 1: can run around, you've got to protect yourself. It's a
- 5:24Speaker 1: good thing to have. So, yeah, Jackson Dart at number six.
- 5:28Speaker 1: All right, let's move it up to number five. Lamar Jackson,
- 5:30Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. To me, could have been number one on
- 5:35Speaker 1: the list, to be completely honest with you. They beat
- 5:38Speaker 1: the Indianapolis Colts 41-23 on the road, and his numbers
- 5:43Speaker 1: were really good. The most important thing that I saw,
- 5:46Speaker 1: 17 passing completions for 324 yards. Zay Flowers is an
- 5:54Speaker 1: absolute beast. I know he got hurt, but five catches,
- 5:57Speaker 1: 150 yards, one touchdown receiving. He makes that entire offense go.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, 68% through the air, one touchdown. 13 yards
- 6:07Speaker 1: per attempt, though, is really, really good. Honestly looked nimble
- 6:13Speaker 1: running the football. Seven carries, 40 yards. He fumbled, lost, whatever.
- 6:18Speaker 1: but he had three completions of over 20 yards. And
- 6:21Speaker 1: the new offense with Declan Doyle, it announced itself on
- 6:26Speaker 1: the first snap. Doyle opened up under center, misdirection, play action.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Jackson rolled all the way left, found Zay Flowers for
- 6:32Speaker 1: 49 yards. I think you're going to see a more
- 6:36Speaker 1: under center, balanced attack where it's not just Lamar Jackson
- 6:39Speaker 1: and the shotgun, You're going to be able to throw left.
- 6:41Speaker 1: You're going to be able to throw right. You're going
- 6:43Speaker 1: to be able to use the entire side of the field.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And I think that just in general, you're going to
- 6:50Speaker 1: put them under center. You're going to have misdirections. You're
- 6:53Speaker 1: going to have play action. It's going to be a
- 6:54Speaker 1: different offense than Lamar Jackson's really used to. But that
- 6:58Speaker 1: Declan Doyle, Lamar Jackson relationship, we've talked about it before.
- 7:03Speaker 1: It got started. early. Like I said, we talked about
- 7:07Speaker 1: Zay Flowers. I thought that he's a big key to
- 7:12Speaker 1: this offense. I just think Flowers is a guy that
- 7:18Speaker 1: can run through the secondary and you need somebody like that.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And guys, why aren't we talking about Derrick Henry? I mean,
- 7:25Speaker 1: it's like father time to me what he's able to do.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So you get all these weapons. I know this is
- 7:29Speaker 1: about Lamar Jackson, but you get all these weapons. and
- 7:33Speaker 1: you're able to actually use them in ways that make sense.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Think of a Ben Johnson-style offense. It starts with a
- 7:41Speaker 1: run game, but when you have a quarterback as accurate
- 7:43Speaker 1: as Lamar, he announced himself to the world. Once again,
- 7:47Speaker 1: it is his time. Let's go. All right, number four.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Don't talk about him a lot. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Holy cow, Liam Cohn and Trevor Lawrence. put on an
- 7:58Speaker 1: absolute show, embarrassed, embarrassed, and we'll talk about this later,
- 8:02Speaker 1: embarrassed the Jacksonville, or sorry, embarrassed the Cleveland Browns. Deshaun
- 8:08Speaker 1: Watson on the other side didn't play great. Really efficient.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Longest completion, 32 yards, but 18 of 23, almost 80% completion.
- 8:17Speaker 1: You're not seeing these attempts in all these guys, and
- 8:19Speaker 1: I think it's offensively just sort of a mind shift
- 8:22Speaker 1: and change. You're not seeing them throw 45 times. They're
- 8:26Speaker 1: just super efficient when they do throw because they are
- 8:30Speaker 1: under center and they're giving both run and pass. Some
- 8:34Speaker 1: of the stuff they were doing was outstanding. Average 10
- 8:40Speaker 1: yards and attempt. I liked the fact that they established
- 8:46Speaker 1: control immediately. The first two possessions of the game, this
- 8:50Speaker 1: is just how you sort of just come in and
- 8:53Speaker 1: impose your will on them. 8 for 10, 110 yards,
- 8:56Speaker 1: two touchdowns on the first two possessions. And Jacksonville scored
- 9:00Speaker 1: on its first four possessions and led 24-0 at halftime.
- 9:05Speaker 1: This was one of the better, you know, he could
- 9:07Speaker 1: have ended He could have ended at number one on
- 9:11Speaker 1: my list. There's some other ones that I like. But
- 9:14Speaker 1: here is the most important thing about this Liam Cohen
- 9:19Speaker 1: offense and Trevor Lawrence and why Trevor Lawrence has been
- 9:21Speaker 1: unlocked in a year. I don't even know what year
- 9:23Speaker 1: it is. It's taken forever. They've got to win some
- 9:26Speaker 1: playoff games. Four touchdowns to four different receivers. Parker Washington
- 9:31Speaker 1: went off. Josh Cameron went off. Brenton Strange went off.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers went off. Spreading four touchdowns across four players
- 9:38Speaker 1: tells you that this offense is a perfect match for
- 9:42Speaker 1: the decision-making and the trust between Liam Cohn and Trevor Lawrence.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And Cohn credited Lawrence with trusting all the available players.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I love that. And Parker Washington, I think he still
- 9:53Speaker 1: needs to get paid. He was the early catalyst. Myers
- 9:56Speaker 1: supplied the signature throw. But Washington, five catches. 83 yards
- 10:01Speaker 1: and a touchdown. He had a diving 30 yard catch
- 10:04Speaker 1: on third and seven. I mean, that throw moving to
- 10:08Speaker 1: your left, like what do you see in his feet,
- 10:11Speaker 1: his shoulders, his release, all that stuff. It was unbelievable
- 10:16Speaker 1: of him just figuring it out. where to throw the
- 10:20Speaker 1: football to. So I really do like Trevor Lawrence at four.
- 10:23Speaker 1: All right, number three. The top three were very difficult.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Number three, though, Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen. I know he
- 10:30Speaker 1: could have easily been one. You'll see who two, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: you'll see who one is. It was a huge win
- 10:36Speaker 1: in Reliant Stadium. You saw Josh Allen after the game
- 10:39Speaker 1: figure out, hey, let's do this. We're so excited. We
- 10:42Speaker 1: wanted Reliant Stadium. But he beat Houston on the road 20-29,
- 10:48Speaker 1: 334 yards, 70% completion rate, two touchdowns, no interceptions, 11.5
- 10:52Speaker 1: yards per attempt. You're seeing these yards per attempt. That's
- 10:55Speaker 1: a really good marker on how well you're pushing the
- 10:58Speaker 1: football down the field. That yards per attempt is sky high.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And once again, like two rushing touchdowns. I mean, Josh Allen,
- 11:08Speaker 1: it's unbelievable. The most important number, I think, though, he's
- 11:13Speaker 1: going to run for yardage. Only two sacks for 11 yards.
- 11:17Speaker 1: He fumbled. But he didn't make any bad mistakes. He
- 11:20Speaker 1: didn't make those huge mistakes that sometimes we see Josh
- 11:23Speaker 1: Allen a couple years ago. He hadn't really done that
- 11:25Speaker 1: in about a couple years. Sometimes you see him make them,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and it's this vaunted Texas defense. I was just uber impressed.
- 11:31Speaker 1: The play caller is obviously Joe Brady and new offensive
- 11:35Speaker 1: coordinator Pete Carmichael. I love the fact that they're two
- 11:40Speaker 1: a team again. It goes back to their New Orleans
- 11:43Speaker 1: Saints days. Joe Brady knows... Josh Allen really well, obviously
- 11:48Speaker 1: being the OC and the quarterback coach there. I would
- 11:51Speaker 1: say that this is a signature win. Everyone had a
- 11:54Speaker 1: pick of the Texans going to the AFC Championship game,
- 11:56Speaker 1: maybe the Super Bowl. I think you're going to get
- 11:58Speaker 1: a rematch of this in the AFC Championship game. I
- 12:00Speaker 1: still think the Texans are really good. CJ Stroud played
- 12:03Speaker 1: really well. Josh Palmer stepped up. I think the number
- 12:07Speaker 1: one thing that... I saw was that DJ Moore unlocked
- 12:15Speaker 1: this offense, specifically them attacking downfield. Allen completed five passes
- 12:21Speaker 1: of at least 30 yards a regular season, career high.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Just crazy. I mean, I can't tell you the last
- 12:27Speaker 1: time DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid or really any Buffalo
- 12:31Speaker 1: Bills had two 100-yard Yard receivers, Dalton Kincaid versus two-eye
- 12:37Speaker 1: safety look was open in the middle. DJ Moore, obviously
- 12:39Speaker 1: a lot of catches. Kincaid had catches of 38, 40,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and 35. Dude is an absolute beast. And DJ Moore
- 12:47Speaker 1: scored from 43 yards. But I think ultimately this is
- 12:50Speaker 1: the receiver that unlocks this offense for Josh Allen and
- 12:54Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills. All right. Top two. What are we doing?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Caleb Williams, number two. And you can almost say 1A
- 13:03Speaker 1: and 1B, but we'll go Caleb Williams, number two. Just
- 13:07Speaker 1: a pummeling on the road. Carolina beat them 59-37. Chicago
- 13:14Speaker 1: set a franchise record for points in season opener. Once again,
- 13:18Speaker 1: you're seeing sort of a pattern here of this list. 21-29,
- 13:23Speaker 1: 269 yards, 72% completion rate. A lot of easy completions,
- 13:29Speaker 1: but the way Caleb Williams played to me was his
- 13:32Speaker 1: decision-making was better than I've ever seen it. And look,
- 13:36Speaker 1: the film, and we're going to break him down in
- 13:38Speaker 1: this podcast right here. Stay for it. Look at the chapters,
- 13:41Speaker 1: do all that stuff. He, the film doesn't even do
- 13:46Speaker 1: it justice. I'm going to show 10 or 12 plays,
- 13:48Speaker 1: whatever it is. Just get an NFL Pro subscription or
- 13:51Speaker 1: do something and get in there and watch the all
- 13:54Speaker 1: 22 of all the plays, not just the short intermediate
- 13:59Speaker 1: stuff that we're going to show or the deep stuff.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Just the decision-making on the run game. Look, everyone's going
- 14:03Speaker 1: to say, hey, the run game should get all the credit,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and rightfully so. They ran for 291 rushing yards and
- 14:12Speaker 1: six touchdowns. However, it was a 31-31 tie, and the
- 14:16Speaker 1: whole game, Caleb Williams just stayed calm, cool. selected. Roma
- 14:22Speaker 1: Dunze was great. Kalief Raymond. I mean, what a guy
- 14:27Speaker 1: stepping up. There's dependable targets. Here's the one thing that's
- 14:29Speaker 1: a scary thought for people that are playing defense against
- 14:36Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears. Here's the scary thing. Colson Loveland, no catches,
- 14:41Speaker 1: only two targets. He's one of the best receiving tight ends.
- 14:43Speaker 1: If they get him going and figure it out, Caleb
- 14:46Speaker 1: Williams to me, to the moon, somehow the Chicago Bears
- 14:49Speaker 1: look better than they did last year. It's sort of
- 14:52Speaker 1: just unbelievable. And then, honestly, the number one spot, I
- 14:56Speaker 1: could have gone either way, but to me, the way
- 14:58Speaker 1: that Brock Purdy played against the Los Angeles Rams, this
- 15:02Speaker 1: vaunted LA Rams, Myles Garrett, I know Aaron Donald didn't play,
- 15:06Speaker 1: all this stuff. They beat the Rams. They didn't beat them.
- 15:09Speaker 1: They throttled the Rams 27-7 in Melbourne, Australia, all the
- 15:15Speaker 1: way back on September 10th. Really efficient. And not only
- 15:20Speaker 1: throwing the football, but I don't think you guys understand
- 15:22Speaker 1: when Kyle Shanahan has this type of offense installed, they
- 15:27Speaker 1: did so much cool stuff in the run game. And
- 15:29Speaker 1: it's a lot of motion. It's a lot of shifts.
- 15:31Speaker 1: It's a lot of different checks for the quarterback. It's
- 15:35Speaker 1: really difficult at times to have to understand which guy
- 15:38Speaker 1: to send in motion. It's just constant. He did great
- 15:41Speaker 1: with that. I thought he used his legs really well.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Five carries, 29 yards. Threw for 205 yards, three touchdowns,
- 15:47Speaker 1: had that one interception on the corner route to George Kittle.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Got to see that. Got to throw better. But Klay
- 15:52Speaker 1: Kubiak and Kyle Shanahan, they're a genius. The big storyline
- 15:55Speaker 1: for him is three different touchdown targets. Purdy scored, Demarcus Robinson,
- 16:00Speaker 1: Mike Evans, Debo Samuel. Debo Samuel, first of all, looks better,
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think, than he has in the past couple years.
- 16:06Speaker 1: He's black. He's back in that... he's back in that uniform.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I love the thought of how he played. More importantly,
- 16:15Speaker 1: Mike Evans on third down, he was an absolute beast.
- 16:18Speaker 1: He's able to unlock that offense and get one-on-one coverage through.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You got to, you got to cover CMC. You got
- 16:24Speaker 1: to cover George Kittle. You got to cover all these things.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And Mike Evans in the red zone is just game over.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And then they had a 99 yard drive where he
- 16:34Speaker 1: made so many good plays time after time after time.
- 16:38Speaker 1: The reason why, by Brock Purdy's number one is because, man,
- 16:42Speaker 1: the Rams, everyone thought they were going to get a
- 16:45Speaker 1: walk away into, like they were gonna walk away with
- 16:49Speaker 1: the Lombardi trophy, not so fast. This is my top six.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I hope you really like it. All right, we just
- 16:55Speaker 1: got done talking all this about my top six quarterbacks
- 16:58Speaker 1: and we ended with number one, but we're gonna start
- 17:00Speaker 1: with number one in this film breakdown session. They played unbelievable.
- 17:05Speaker 1: The San Francisco 49ers are a team to look out for.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Let's get into the breakdown. All right, Brock Purdy. Let's
- 17:11Speaker 1: get into it, man. This is a fun one to me.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I thought he played extremely well. I thought Debo Samuel
- 17:16Speaker 1: looked really good. Look at all these motions and shifts
- 17:19Speaker 1: and everything in between. And then just Mike Evans, just
- 17:21Speaker 1: right there. A couple things about this. One, I like
- 17:25Speaker 1: how he started all the way over here, motioned all
- 17:27Speaker 1: the way over there. Boom, boom, you sit up. Just
- 17:31Speaker 1: pretty much a way to... get the defense to react
- 17:35Speaker 1: a certain ways, and then you're gonna have Debo on
- 17:37Speaker 1: a shallow cross, CMC on there. I mean, I'm not
- 17:40Speaker 1: exactly sure what's happening here. All I do know is
- 17:43Speaker 1: the Rams are in a two-eye look. It looks like
- 17:45Speaker 1: it's Mann. Okay. Is it man? Is it not? I
- 17:50Speaker 1: don't know. Hard to tell. Debo coming over here to
- 17:52Speaker 1: hear shallow cross. I think Mike Evans is supposed to
- 17:56Speaker 1: have a basic cross. And then you have CMC with
- 18:00Speaker 1: a choice route. So one, two, three. But I love this.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I love the fact that Mike Evans is just here
- 18:08Speaker 1: to be a feel guy. Look, it's between five guys.
- 18:12Speaker 1: His route, I'm almost guaranteed, is supposed to be there.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Brock Purdy and him are already on the same page.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It's just a feel. He's already starting to throw. I
- 18:24Speaker 1: don't think he's running a hitch right there. I literally
- 18:26Speaker 1: think he's supposed to have a basic with a shallow
- 18:29Speaker 1: and then a cross right here. So a really nice
- 18:32Speaker 1: job sort of staying back. I think they were trying
- 18:35Speaker 1: to in and out this, which means when there's a
- 18:37Speaker 1: bunch coverage. But good luck. Now it's a triple stack.
- 18:42Speaker 1: So it's not just a bunch. A lot of teams
- 18:43Speaker 1: run this out of a bunch. It's a triple stack.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Nice start there for Brock Purdy. Puts it on him.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Brock's arm looks a lot better, weirdly enough, than in
- 18:57Speaker 1: years past. He looks smooth, left foot up forward. Trent Williams, awesome.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Miles Garrett, not so much. I mean, it's pretty, is
- 19:06Speaker 1: that Miles? Yeah, Miles Garrett right here. Pretty amazing that
- 19:10Speaker 1: Brock was not sacked at all. So there's the, and
- 19:13Speaker 1: gotta give credit to the big hogs up front, for
- 19:16Speaker 1: that nice job not leading him into this area into
- 19:23Speaker 1: danger so let's look at it from this view as
- 19:25Speaker 1: well understanding what's going on right a little motion boom
- 19:32Speaker 1: not chipping miles garrett nice little throw right there it's
- 19:35Speaker 1: really good stuff man look how quickly compact the release
- 19:38Speaker 1: is boom throw it first down all right next play
- 19:40Speaker 1: right here crazy formations. Like, is it a trips bunch?
- 19:44Speaker 1: Is it not? Everything's in between. I mean, this is
- 19:46Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan offense. They try to play a lot of
- 19:49Speaker 1: too high. Are they coming down are they not and
- 19:51Speaker 1: why do they motion and shift and do all this
- 19:53Speaker 1: well it's to put the defense in a lot of
- 19:57Speaker 1: different alignments and figuring out like hey what's going on
- 20:00Speaker 1: does this look familiar to you so it's it's a
- 20:05Speaker 1: very similar play not the exact same corner route, but
- 20:11Speaker 1: now it's out of 22 personnel, two backs, so 21
- 20:16Speaker 1: personnel with Mike Evans right here. They just hide all
- 20:20Speaker 1: of their splits. It's a shallow cross by Juice, it's
- 20:24Speaker 1: a dodge slant route, and then it's a second slant route.
- 20:27Speaker 1: So it's really giving the defense a look of something else,
- 20:31Speaker 1: but then getting to a pretty simple read where it's
- 20:33Speaker 1: one to two to three right there. So it's not
- 20:38Speaker 1: that difficult to do, But another big-time conversion for a
- 20:44Speaker 1: first down right here. And I thought when Mike Evans
- 20:48Speaker 1: came over here that he was just going to be
- 20:50Speaker 1: an outside receiver. But, man, they moved him everywhere. So
- 20:54Speaker 1: such a nice job. And a lot of this stuff
- 20:56Speaker 1: is not preconceived. It's like, hey, let's just read one.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It's pure progression. Two. And then this third one, I
- 21:04Speaker 1: think that's by CMC all the way out here. And
- 21:08Speaker 1: all your eyes, all Brock's eyes are going is looking
- 21:10Speaker 1: at this defender. You all, you want to have space.
- 21:14Speaker 1: That's the space, right? If this guy was to be
- 21:17Speaker 1: right here, that's the space. And that's why you have
- 21:18Speaker 1: Juice sitting down on the shallow cross. Just a lot
- 21:22Speaker 1: of people are open. They're doing buzz. I think this
- 21:25Speaker 1: guy's wrong. They're buzzing down in. Hook, curl, defender going back. Nice, quick, release, throw, boom.
- 21:34Speaker 1: There we go. Look at that. Awesome work. Let's just
- 21:38Speaker 1: watch his eyes here. Motioning across. As soon as 53 goes,
- 21:44Speaker 1: Brock's already starting to throw. Come on now. It's like
- 21:47Speaker 1: taking candy from a baby. So good. All right, next
- 21:50Speaker 1: play under center. Quarterbacks, if you are a young quarterback,
- 21:56Speaker 1: you better learn how to Drop back from under center
- 22:02Speaker 1: with the seven step drop. Favorite throw, favorite route of
- 22:05Speaker 1: the entire day. Let's watch this. A little play action, bomb, boom. Oh, no,
- 22:10Speaker 1: this is the wrong one. Oh, I got ahead of
- 22:12Speaker 1: myself because it looks exactly like it. Interception, worst throw
- 22:15Speaker 1: of the day for Brock Purdy. So this is definitely
- 22:18Speaker 1: not my favorite throw of the day. That's funny. I
- 22:20Speaker 1: thought it was something else because it looks identical. So
- 22:24Speaker 1: let's break down what happened. tight split. A lot of
- 22:27Speaker 1: times with this corner route by Kittle, you'd run a post. Instead,
- 22:31Speaker 1: it's a tight split pylon. Go deep, hit the pylon,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and then you're just running a sail route, in route,
- 22:37Speaker 1: something over there. So it's everything going left, right. There's one,
- 22:41Speaker 1: there's two, or it's really an alert, and there's three.
- 22:47Speaker 1: You want to be able to, one, have a good
- 22:50Speaker 1: eye on this corner. If this corner falls off on
- 22:54Speaker 1: this deep pylon, which is a 40-yard throw, then you
- 22:58Speaker 1: want to throw this corner route. The only thing I
- 23:04Speaker 1: don't like here in the route concept, which is not
- 23:08Speaker 1: saying a lot because I love a lot of stuff
- 23:11Speaker 1: about Shanann's offense, you've got to have a flat. You
- 23:15Speaker 1: don't have a flat route right now. Your flat route
- 23:17Speaker 1: is a draw fake by the running back and then
- 23:19Speaker 1: going over. So Purdy's eyes... should be on this flat defender.
- 23:23Speaker 1: It's three deep, four under. There's the buzz safety. He's
- 23:27Speaker 1: hook curl, he's hook curl. Here's flat, here's flat. There's
- 23:31Speaker 1: nothing over there. And so this works because this corner
- 23:35Speaker 1: route takes it, this corner route takes it over top
- 23:39Speaker 1: and you wanna attack this area right here. If you
- 23:44Speaker 1: have someone right there, check it down. So bad throw,
- 23:48Speaker 1: thought the flat defender, really probably didn't see the flat
- 23:50Speaker 1: defender sometimes, Short quarterbacks, that's the case. They also have
- 23:53Speaker 1: a draw off this too. So now you're expecting 26
- 23:57Speaker 1: to get to the flat all the way over here.
- 24:00Speaker 1: It's just play call. I'd love to see him over
- 24:05Speaker 1: here going to the flat. Another thing too is they
- 24:08Speaker 1: were always chipping. Like, hey, this isn't a chip, but
- 24:11Speaker 1: it's an inside release. Helps this tackle. Chip this guy.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Help him protect the edges. It's a must. Can't have
- 24:18Speaker 1: this happen. This is the one bad throw of the game.
- 24:20Speaker 1: If he's over there, it happens, right? It's good. Just
- 24:24Speaker 1: didn't see the flat defender, honestly. I thought it was
- 24:27Speaker 1: a corner stop in the game. But it wasn't. Motion
- 24:31Speaker 1: run over. Going over there. Boom, boom, boom. Here we go. Toss, throw.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Not good. All right, next play right here. Once again,
- 24:40Speaker 1: another motion. Exactly what they are really good at. Two
- 24:45Speaker 1: high safeties plus corners. Now they're just playing... It looks
- 24:49Speaker 1: like it is quarters and a half over here with
- 24:53Speaker 1: eyes and vision here. See what happens with this. Dude,
- 24:58Speaker 1: another third down conversion for Mike Evans. Let's freaking go.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Switch release up top. And it's pretty much a sticks route, right?
- 25:11Speaker 1: You're going to switch release. You're going to run a
- 25:13Speaker 1: curl route past the sticks. It looks like it's third
- 25:15Speaker 1: and 12 here. So it's quite the distance. You have
- 25:18Speaker 1: Debo Samuel come. into the middle of the field, and
- 25:21Speaker 1: then you're gonna have a spray release curl route as well.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You always wanna start over the ball, number one, and
- 25:27Speaker 1: then you go one to two, one to two, off
- 25:30Speaker 1: of the squeeze. Well, Chase, what's the squeeze? Let's figure
- 25:32Speaker 1: it out. You have protection here. So not only are
- 25:36Speaker 1: you handling Myles Garrett by a presence alignment, which means
- 25:40Speaker 1: you're close, you're probably gonna chip him and then go
- 25:42Speaker 1: to the flat. Same thing over here. Chip, chip, presence,
- 25:48Speaker 1: stepping up in the pocket. And so the squeeze is,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I think that's number two is coming here. Your eyes
- 25:56Speaker 1: want to start here. If this defender takes this one,
- 26:01Speaker 1: then you're going to throw it here. If this defender
- 26:04Speaker 1: without the flat goes that way, then you want to
- 26:06Speaker 1: throw here. However, if you have quarters, which this is
- 26:10Speaker 1: the case, he's got a quarter, he's got a quarter,
- 26:12Speaker 1: he's got half, he's the field safety. If you've got quarters,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you want to work to the quarter side. This is
- 26:17Speaker 1: just a beautiful play all the way around. So many
- 26:20Speaker 1: things going through the quarterback's head. Oh, not only that,
- 26:24Speaker 1: there's a overload over here. Well, guess what? You're overloading
- 26:27Speaker 1: three to get a three-on-three matchup. However, how many guys...
- 26:32Speaker 1: So genius. How many guys do the 49ers have? One, two, three, four, five.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Five on that side. Here's another thing, too. We have
- 26:43Speaker 1: this in... It's called... Three jet chip or two jet chip.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's jet is, is, but it's, it's Myles Garrett. So
- 26:53Speaker 1: this tight end could stay on that side, but he's
- 26:56Speaker 1: going to travel. This is what I'm guessing they did.
- 26:58Speaker 1: He's going to travel to Myles Garrett side. Every time
- 27:01Speaker 1: Myles Garrett, you're getting chipped. You're getting four hands on.
- 27:03Speaker 1: You are not game wrecking. I don't care if you're
- 27:05Speaker 1: an all pro or not. Nice step up. Nice throw.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Great throw. So he sees Aaron Donald or sorry, Myles
- 27:14Speaker 1: Garrett over here. Come on over. We're good. Okay, you're
- 27:17Speaker 1: not beating four hands, right? One, two, three, he sees it.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Steps up, looks this way to get this guy to
- 27:25Speaker 1: jump over here. Perfect throw. This is the throw of
- 27:30Speaker 1: the game. This is the one I was talking about. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Hitch, hitch, ball. DeMarcus,
- 27:37Speaker 1: let's go. I love this so much. DeMarcus Robinson. Like,
- 27:42Speaker 1: let's freaking go, Robinson. A couple things. One, once this
- 27:46Speaker 1: guy goes, hey, quarterbacks, we said it earlier, learn a
- 27:51Speaker 1: under center seven step drop. Make sure you're under center.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Make sure you're seven step dropping because this is all
- 27:58Speaker 1: the rage. This is coming back. You have this shell look. Robinson,
- 28:02Speaker 1: just run bite through it. Let's see it. Got Mike
- 28:05Speaker 1: Evans as a cheese. Really had everyone open. So you
- 28:11Speaker 1: see how he widens and then goes over there? Reason
- 28:16Speaker 1: for that, if he goes now, this corner would drop
- 28:19Speaker 1: kick for this post. So here's, you widen deep cross,
- 28:24Speaker 1: post route. Post route just has to run through this quarters.
- 28:27Speaker 1: You only have to worry about this safety right here.
- 28:29Speaker 1: That's where your eyes are. You know you're going to
- 28:31Speaker 1: beat them. They're all just there. At that point, you're like, well,
- 28:35Speaker 1: who's open? Not so fast. Give me two hitches. Throw
- 28:38Speaker 1: that thing. 45. 55 yards on a dime. And because
- 28:45Speaker 1: Mike Evans goes like this, he makes the entire play.
- 28:48Speaker 1: He keeps it skinny. This corner can no longer drop
- 28:50Speaker 1: kick to get back. Dude, so nice. It is so nice.
- 28:56Speaker 1: You got to see it twice, baby. Okay, under center.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Look this guy. Make sure he's not there. You got
- 29:01Speaker 1: to trust the receiver to run past that. And you
- 29:04Speaker 1: got to trust Mike Evans to hold this corner. It's
- 29:06Speaker 1: exactly where his eyes are. Come on now. Are you
- 29:10Speaker 1: kidding me? Pretty strong arm. Strong armed him. Done. All right,
- 29:17Speaker 1: third quarter. Next play right here. There's Myles Garrett. What
- 29:20Speaker 1: do you know? They have someone right there. Might not
- 29:23Speaker 1: be chipping him. Good throw. Good route. Not a good throw, actually.
- 29:31Speaker 1: A couple things. I don't even know. I don't even
- 29:36Speaker 1: know what they're doing. Like, he's going high. He's going low.
- 29:39Speaker 1: He's coming. in. And then this is an alert. So
- 29:42Speaker 1: this is called an alert, which means, hey, if you
- 29:45Speaker 1: got it, take it. Ball sort of dies on pretty here.
- 29:48Speaker 1: We're not just going to break down all the good ones.
- 29:50Speaker 1: We got to break down some of the bad ones.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Look at Debo Samuel, though, rolling, like over here. I'm
- 29:56Speaker 1: trying to just figure it out, right? There's like crossers, crossers.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Here's the out. Ah, this is third down two. Interesting
- 30:06Speaker 1: they're throwing way past the sticks. The sticks are right here,
- 30:09Speaker 1: and the closest guy to the stick, other than the
- 30:12Speaker 1: running back, is George Kittle, and he's five yards away.
- 30:15Speaker 1: So they're definitely throwing past the sticks. Got to catch this, though.
- 30:17Speaker 1: But got to get this throw out there. One, two, three,
- 30:20Speaker 1: hitch ball. Throw it. One, two, three, hitch ball. Ah,
- 30:25Speaker 1: not so good. right, beating it with the ball out,
- 30:31Speaker 1: CMC could have had him, I mean, guys are open everywhere,
- 30:35Speaker 1: see if there's anything in general here, that makes it
- 30:38Speaker 1: a little weird, one, two, three, boom, yeah, it's three plant,
- 30:41Speaker 1: you see this one too, weird how he goes all
- 30:45Speaker 1: the way over there with that foot off the ground,
- 30:48Speaker 1: and then all the way over there, so not the
- 30:49Speaker 1: best mechanics on this one, comes it open, I don't
- 30:53Speaker 1: think he can fully get through that because of the pocket,
- 30:58Speaker 1: but missed the throw. All right, next play, one-on-one red zone.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Ain't nothing to it, guys. There ain't nothing to it.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Just throw this thing up. Red zone target, so good.
- 31:07Speaker 1: This is a run, by the way. 13 personnel, or
- 31:09Speaker 1: that's actually a running back. So 22 personnel, two backs,
- 31:14Speaker 1: two tight ends, right? Here we go. Just a fade.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Just there's nothing to it. Look how far away he
- 31:20Speaker 1: gets to see his release. Watch this quarterback. He gets
- 31:23Speaker 1: away from the center. One, two, three, four, and then
- 31:27Speaker 1: just is able to. And because the DB is not looking,
- 31:30Speaker 1: he can throw it on a line at the back
- 31:32Speaker 1: of his head. It's on a back shoulder. It's just
- 31:34Speaker 1: on a line to the back of his head. Not
- 31:36Speaker 1: a lot of guys can make this throw. Not a
- 31:38Speaker 1: lot of guys can make this catch. This is absolutely
- 31:45Speaker 1: a run. And you're just looking one-on-one. It's just an alert.
- 31:48Speaker 1: If you like it, throw it. But I love how
- 31:51Speaker 1: he got this. I love how everyone lined up over here.
- 31:53Speaker 1: They're in goal line defense. If it's one-on-one with Mike Evans,
- 31:56Speaker 1: he's going to unleash. He's going to unlock Brock Purdy.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Come on. Love this. Yeah. Flex on. All right. Game 17-7.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Here we go. Motion over to 4x1 right here. All right.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Once again, another show. Look, now we're going from 4x1
- 32:13Speaker 1: to empty. It's all tight. It's good. I put this
- 32:18Speaker 1: on here because it's more of Debo. This isn't a
- 32:21Speaker 1: very amazing throw or anything like that. But you're just
- 32:25Speaker 1: putting a lot of stress, right? You're building in leverage
- 32:29Speaker 1: with this guy going out. And it's just a little
- 32:31Speaker 1: option route. I just wanted to watch Debo right here
- 32:33Speaker 1: because I think it's a really good route. There we go.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's really just Debo, clear out, post, wrap route,
- 32:45Speaker 1: something over here. So you really want to read one.
- 32:47Speaker 1: to two. Kyle Juszczyk played a really nice game as well.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Really impressed with him. When you get Debo with leverage
- 32:56Speaker 1: lined up on Lake, I think that's Lake, right? You
- 32:59Speaker 1: go over, so you motion here, now you motion outfield,
- 33:02Speaker 1: now they have to have an empty check. There's just
- 33:06Speaker 1: a bunch of space. Really bad job by this DB.
- 33:10Speaker 1: He should be outside with this buzz safety coming in here.
- 33:13Speaker 1: It's really single high zone. DB's playing like quarters should
- 33:16Speaker 1: never do that. I just think Debo looks a lot better.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Next play right here, three by one motion over to
- 33:21Speaker 1: a two by two. Tight split, move the back. I mean,
- 33:25Speaker 1: they're always constantly moving. They're always figuring out what are
- 33:28Speaker 1: they doing? And now they're going this motion. It's like,
- 33:30Speaker 1: what are we doing? Got to put it on here
- 33:33Speaker 1: because this looks so good. So underrated with his legs.
- 33:39Speaker 1: They've run this play about four times before. They've done
- 33:42Speaker 1: it out of different personnel groupings, shallow cross, double slant. Right,
- 33:47Speaker 1: with a chip flat. Here it is. That's one. That's two.
- 33:51Speaker 1: That's three. I think that's Kittle right there. Yeah, that's Kittle.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Sort of falls. Sort of moves. Brock pretty high stepping though.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Let's go. Such an underrated athlete. Truly. So Mark Robinson's
- 34:06Speaker 1: going here. You got Kittle going there. As soon as
- 34:09Speaker 1: they go single high zone, the place sort of sinks.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Are they blitzing? Are they not? Not so fast. We're
- 34:15Speaker 1: going back. I don't love the crossing of both of
- 34:19Speaker 1: these guys with trying to throw a slant too. It's
- 34:21Speaker 1: right in the window. Don't matter. Did he just high step?
- 34:25Speaker 1: Oh my God, he did. Let's go. All right, last
- 34:29Speaker 1: play right here. Deebo Samuel. This is just a scramble drill.
- 34:32Speaker 1: He's gonna end up throwing all the way over here,
- 34:35Speaker 1: motioning out. What are they doing right here? I don't
- 34:38Speaker 1: even know. It's the same play. Same play they've done,
- 34:42Speaker 1: trying to get Deebo. Run to space. So good. They're
- 34:51Speaker 1: trying to stack. It's here. Debo. Kaelin Black is there.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I mean, they're trying to get this guy open. I
- 34:59Speaker 1: say all this and we break all this down just
- 35:01Speaker 1: because there's not a lot of guys that had a
- 35:04Speaker 1: better debut than Brock Purdy. I mean, the dude is
- 35:09Speaker 1: fired up. They look healthy. Can they stay healthy, though?
- 35:13Speaker 1: That's the thing. Good for Debo getting his touchdown the
- 35:16Speaker 1: first game back. That's a dime, too. That's not an
- 35:18Speaker 1: easy throw. You think that's an easy throw. It's not
- 35:19Speaker 1: an easy throw. Brock Purdy, man. All right, you guys
- 35:23Speaker 1: saw there Brock Purdy just obliterated the Los Angeles Rams.
- 35:27Speaker 1: He is number one on my list. Now we are
- 35:30Speaker 1: going to get to Caleb Williams, number two on my
- 35:35Speaker 1: top six list. The film does not even do it
- 35:39Speaker 1: justice for what he's able to bring to the table.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You guys are going to freak out. Let's get into it.
- 35:45Speaker 1: All right, here we go. Caleb Williams, look how fast
- 35:48Speaker 1: this ball gets snapped. Used so many different ways to
- 35:52Speaker 1: attack the defense to Luther Bird. M-I-Z-Z-O-U, let's go. I
- 35:56Speaker 1: thought Caleb Williams, dude, he played fantastic. And it wasn't
- 36:01Speaker 1: just the pass game. It was his escapability. It was
- 36:05Speaker 1: his pocket presence. It was everything. This Carolina Panthers defense
- 36:09Speaker 1: didn't play well. And I don't care. what PFF says.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I think they had him ranked as the 27th best quarterback.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I'm not exactly sure, but I heard that through the grapevine.
- 36:18Speaker 1: What are we doing? I love this. It's play seven
- 36:23Speaker 1: of the game, and it's called a cheetah snap. They're
- 36:27Speaker 1: third and forever. It's to really take the pressure off
- 36:30Speaker 1: of Caleb. Look what happens with this center. He looks right.
- 36:33Speaker 1: He looks left. All you're going to have is a
- 36:35Speaker 1: deep curl, deep curl. You're going to have right over
- 36:38Speaker 1: the ball. I think Cole Komett or Colson Levin, whoever
- 36:43Speaker 1: that is, runs the wrong route, but you want to
- 36:45Speaker 1: start inside out, feel the squeeze, and when you do,
- 36:49Speaker 1: just watch how he manipulates the defense. First of all,
- 36:53Speaker 1: everyone's standing. Look how everyone's standing on the D-line. So
- 36:57Speaker 1: he gains that extra second. It's needed. Really nice route
- 37:01Speaker 1: by Luther Burden. There's no way those guys should be
- 37:03Speaker 1: next to each other. Five-man rush, though. It's man-to-man. Hey,
- 37:08Speaker 1: throw the open man. I like it. He ends up
- 37:10Speaker 1: working down here to Luther. I think Lewis is going
- 37:13Speaker 1: to have an outstanding year. A little bit of a
- 37:16Speaker 1: behind throw, but I love snaps there. No one is ready.
- 37:23Speaker 1: It's the small things that make the quarterback, man. I'm
- 37:26Speaker 1: telling you, he is... Let's turn this out forward for
- 37:28Speaker 1: this breakdown. He is on another level in terms of
- 37:32Speaker 1: just processing... everything that's going on, and also just taking advantage. Like,
- 37:36Speaker 1: you can look here to move this safety right here.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Here's the safety. And then the outside leverage of this
- 37:42Speaker 1: DB up there, it all makes sense to me. Boom, right?
- 37:47Speaker 1: Not a great job passing off this game. He's throwing this,
- 37:51Speaker 1: and these two guys are in the same area. Luther's
- 37:53Speaker 1: going to curl around, and when he does, let's put
- 37:56Speaker 1: it on him. It's actually a good ball. I know
- 37:58Speaker 1: I said it. I didn't think it was that great,
- 38:01Speaker 1: but it is. Look, 95. 95. That's what you want.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Called cheetah count. Set hut! One, two, three, four, five.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Good rhythm. Eyes here. Boom. Really nice. Around that defensive tackle.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Nice catch by Luther Burden. All right, so here we go.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Play two. Get an empty. Another thing I saw was cadence.
- 38:20Speaker 1: So different types of cadence. We just saw cheetah. This
- 38:23Speaker 1: is on the second one. Not there. Gives everyone a
- 38:27Speaker 1: chance to see what's going on. And it's just a man.
- 38:30Speaker 1: He's got him. he's got there. So you're going to
- 38:33Speaker 1: have outside leverage on all this because you have a
- 38:36Speaker 1: whole player. This whole player funnels stuff to him. And
- 38:39Speaker 1: this whole player is responsible for any crossing routes, but
- 38:42Speaker 1: also responsible for the quarterback run. All right. Carolina was
- 38:46Speaker 1: using this mush rust where they're just sort of just
- 38:48Speaker 1: see this guy right here. They're sort of just hanging around.
- 38:51Speaker 1: They're not rushing past them. They're rushing to them. They're
- 38:54Speaker 1: trying to collapse the pocket. And when that happens, Caleb
- 38:57Speaker 1: just takes off and runs. It is Such a nice
- 39:02Speaker 1: job getting to the touchdown. Let's break down where his
- 39:05Speaker 1: eyes were and everything like that. So it's pretty much
- 39:09Speaker 1: a sit route, an out route by Roma Dunze and
- 39:12Speaker 1: a go ball. If that's a safety, you know it's
- 39:15Speaker 1: man to man. So let's see where his eyes are looking.
- 39:20Speaker 1: He's looking up top. I'm not quite sure. I would
- 39:23Speaker 1: have worked down here. I think it's a slant and
- 39:27Speaker 1: I think it's a stick nod. So he is trying
- 39:29Speaker 1: to work a stick nod. Here's what I would say though.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Try to hold this guy here and you're trying to
- 39:34Speaker 1: nod between those two guys. A stick's there, a nod's
- 39:37Speaker 1: going there. But also just look at this little, it's
- 39:40Speaker 1: easier said than done, right? He's trying to get that
- 39:44Speaker 1: double move to Colson Loveland. And when he does, he
- 39:47Speaker 1: doesn't look off the safety. He goes, it's okay. Go
- 39:50Speaker 1: make a move. Go make a play. He looked fast,
- 39:54Speaker 1: didn't he? Truly fast. So you have a four-man rush.
- 40:00Speaker 1: His eyes are going to go straight there. Would love
- 40:02Speaker 1: for him to hold this safety. Safety runs across as
- 40:05Speaker 1: soon as it happens. Right? There it is. He's going
- 40:09Speaker 1: with the eyes. Colson Loveland, you're off of it. There's
- 40:13Speaker 1: the number two. Not there. Sprint out. Go. So good.
- 40:17Speaker 1: It's not like you're rolling out to the left. You're
- 40:21Speaker 1: out running number three. He looks fast. He looks fast.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Really nice work. Nice job trying to get Colson leveling
- 40:32Speaker 1: the ball. Hadn't had the ball. Two targets, I think.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Just hold your eyes there. Two targets, I think. He's
- 40:40Speaker 1: Houdini back there, man. He really is. Truly. Look at
- 40:43Speaker 1: him running. Loose sleeves and all. Next play. Three by
- 40:47Speaker 1: one formation. Let's motion over. A lot of conversation right there.
- 40:51Speaker 1: There's only six guys here at the line of scrimmage.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Let's see what happens. Hut hut. He's using his cadence.
- 40:57Speaker 1: He's trying to figure out what's happening. I mean, come on. Throw.
- 41:05Speaker 1: It was a human highlight reel. It really was. Human
- 41:09Speaker 1: highlight reel on so many different areas. I'm not sure
- 41:13Speaker 1: why he didn't pull the trigger because it's just an
- 41:16Speaker 1: in route. Sort of grab route. It's an option route.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Break in, break out. And it's a corner route. So
- 41:22Speaker 1: he's working over here. Love for him to hit this
- 41:25Speaker 1: right here. I'm not sure if they were on the
- 41:26Speaker 1: same page. Let's see what happens. Right? Maybe he couldn't
- 41:30Speaker 1: see him. That happens. That dude looks massive. But once again,
- 41:36Speaker 1: let's go spread it out. Let's go throw this football.
- 41:39Speaker 1: I don't know if there's a better quarterback on the
- 41:41Speaker 1: move who's more accurate. And Roman Dunze with a big,
- 41:46Speaker 1: big play. Down the field. Here it is from the
- 41:50Speaker 1: back view. Kalief Raymond, who had an unbelievable game, to
- 41:56Speaker 1: be honest with you. This would have probably put him
- 41:58Speaker 1: over 100 yards receiving. Open. I'm guessing, oh, sorry. I'm
- 42:04Speaker 1: guessing he didn't see him here. That would be my guess.
- 42:07Speaker 1: And that happens. Stuff happens, man. Right here, this dude's
- 42:11Speaker 1: a huge human being. There's a lot of mucky muck
- 42:13Speaker 1: right there. Going to the right spot, though. Five-man rush.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Take the inside, doesn't happen. Blown coverage, Romadunze. Moss! Get mossed!
- 42:27Speaker 1: All right, play four of the breakdown, two by two formation. Oh,
- 42:29Speaker 1: we're in pistol now. Now we got Cole Komet moving over.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Play action from pistol. Ah, missed it. But not so fast,
- 42:38Speaker 1: he was open. These, they are rolling with plays right now.
- 42:47Speaker 1: So I think this was a little bit of a
- 42:48Speaker 1: predetermined notion right here because you're going to have Colson
- 42:51Speaker 1: Loveland at the end of the day coming on this
- 42:53Speaker 1: deep over route. It's a double post, right? So they're
- 42:58Speaker 1: in 12 personnel. This sort of hides it split. They're
- 43:01Speaker 1: in a slot formation, slots up top, motion over, get set,
- 43:05Speaker 1: chip flat, through route, post route, deep cross route. Okay,
- 43:11Speaker 1: sit down in the middle. Love that, very simple. Throw this,
- 43:14Speaker 1: first cover four, If this safety hits down, if not,
- 43:18Speaker 1: you're throwing one to two to three. Here's the thing,
- 43:24Speaker 1: which I think confused him a little bit. They go
- 43:26Speaker 1: to this cover two look, and usually in cover two,
- 43:29Speaker 1: you're like, oh, there's no way you're going to get
- 43:30Speaker 1: the deep cross. Well, 55 gets completely lost because he
- 43:36Speaker 1: goes to strength, which is the four receiver side, and
- 43:39Speaker 1: Colston's right there. He ends up checking it down, and
- 43:42Speaker 1: I'm okay with that. It's It's the right read you're
- 43:45Speaker 1: playing on time. And how many yards do I have
- 43:49Speaker 1: to catch? Five, 10, 15 yards extra when you check
- 43:54Speaker 1: it down to your running back. So nice job. Love
- 43:57Speaker 1: the play call. Chip flat. Probably got off this right
- 44:03Speaker 1: here because he saw it was two. Didn't know this
- 44:04Speaker 1: backer would go there. Nice job throttling by Loveland, but
- 44:07Speaker 1: that's a catch that Loveland could have had that no
- 44:10Speaker 1: one's talking about. But look at that. Look at all
- 44:12Speaker 1: this space. I don't know why they're blitzing. Three's blitzing
- 44:16Speaker 1: off the edge. Like what? I don't know. When you
- 44:20Speaker 1: give up 59 points, there's bound to be some open stuff.
- 44:22Speaker 1: All right, next play right here. 13 personnel. One, two, three. 13,
- 44:27Speaker 1: one back, three tight ends. Unbelievable. So many different personnel groupings.
- 44:34Speaker 1: So many different formations, dime of the day on the
- 44:40Speaker 1: entire NFL. There's not many people out there that'll make
- 44:43Speaker 1: this throw, more or less even try this throw. Wow.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I got really excited about this. They're doing this out
- 44:52Speaker 1: of 13. Pretty much they're going to end up blocking,
- 44:56Speaker 1: coming back blocking, post route to clear it out, halfback
- 44:59Speaker 1: in the flat, and this is called a little slide
- 45:01Speaker 1: route where you're sliding or a late route, whatever it is.
- 45:06Speaker 1: One to two. Roll right. It doesn't matter about coverage
- 45:13Speaker 1: right here. It just matters, do you have the balls
- 45:16Speaker 1: enough to throw this? And he's all the way over here.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Look what he throws this, right? Good job. I don't
- 45:24Speaker 1: know if he saw him or not, but he has
- 45:25Speaker 1: to be able to see that while also being able
- 45:27Speaker 1: to throw this. If this defender goes that way, you
- 45:29Speaker 1: throw here. If not, it's just one-on-one. When that linebacker's
- 45:33Speaker 1: back is turned... And he's getting hit when he throws this.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I'm so glad Cole Komet caught this because this is
- 45:40Speaker 1: going to end up being one of the best throws
- 45:42Speaker 1: of the entire NFL year. Okay, you bring Loveland over,
- 45:46Speaker 1: come back, block, help an 87. Loveland's going to, or sorry,
- 45:50Speaker 1: Komet's going to sneak out. And by the way, he's
- 45:54Speaker 1: doing this with a guy in his face and he
- 45:55Speaker 1: can't even set his feet. Rolling to the right. Dude, what?
- 46:03Speaker 1: We got to see this three times. Boom, boom. Nice
- 46:07Speaker 1: job getting on out there. He probably gets a little
- 46:09Speaker 1: bit wider than he wants because of where he needs
- 46:12Speaker 1: to set up for the pocket because five got this.
- 46:16Speaker 1: He's not even able to set his feet. This is crazy.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. So good. Motion over. Here we go.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Let's start this play over. All right, next play right here.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I'm going to motion over. Watch this. A lot of
- 46:36Speaker 1: guys up there. What's happening? But there's four guys back there,
- 46:38Speaker 1: so you know it's not a pressure you can't hold.
- 46:43Speaker 1: This is the jump man throw. It's a human highlight
- 46:46Speaker 1: reel over here by Khalif Raymond. And I don't know
- 46:51Speaker 1: what else. Everything's covered. Everything's covered. So it's a flat route.
- 47:01Speaker 1: He runs an end, and then you're trying to go
- 47:03Speaker 1: like a post route over top of it. You're trying
- 47:05Speaker 1: to get this safety right here to bite up on
- 47:07Speaker 1: Luther Burden and throw this thing to Khalif over top.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Five steps. No one's even remotely where they should be.
- 47:15Speaker 1: He should be further over here. You see this safety there,
- 47:18Speaker 1: so you can throw that. Khalif Raymond looked good, too.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I mean, they got three good receivers, dude. Luther, Rome, Khalif.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Colston Loveland, DeAndre Swift just got paid. It's got all
- 47:31Speaker 1: the weapons. Like that he pulled that back. I mean, wow.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Six rushing touchdowns. But man, the game belonged to Caleb.
- 47:39Speaker 1: The way he saw it, right? Chip flat. Luther's job
- 47:44Speaker 1: is to clear it out. You got to see this
- 47:45Speaker 1: safety come down. That's what he does. Their rush plan
- 47:50Speaker 1: was so bad. Look at this, by the way. That
- 47:58Speaker 1: looks so familiar, the fourth down from last year. Let's
- 48:02Speaker 1: see from this view. Probably gonna be even better from
- 48:04Speaker 1: this view if I can stop it. If I'm any good,
- 48:06Speaker 1: I can stop it exactly where it should be. Come on, bro.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Zoom in right here, Producer Grant. What are we doing?
- 48:15Speaker 1: What are we doing? Just showing off. Nice catch, though.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Play right here. Empty again, they're switching it up. You
- 48:24Speaker 1: just saw them under center in 13, now you got empty.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Got speed on the field. It's the exact same play
- 48:29Speaker 1: they ran earlier. It's no different. This is their third
- 48:32Speaker 1: and long play. Curl, deep curl, post over top. Single
- 48:38Speaker 1: high zone, single high zone, too high, reading this safety.
- 48:42Speaker 1: So let's go through the process. Ends up being too high,
- 48:46Speaker 1: but this guy is so deep, so Caleb sees him.
- 48:50Speaker 1: There's also a lot of stuff underneath the second and long,
- 48:52Speaker 1: by the way, not third and long, sorry. A lot
- 48:55Speaker 1: of people underneath. It's a wrap route right here, curl
- 48:58Speaker 1: right there, go route, or a through route right there.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Luther Burden, man, this is the second time. It's the
- 49:04Speaker 1: exact same time. You're just attacking this weak zone right here.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Colston is a pull route, right? The cheese, and then
- 49:11Speaker 1: it can be a curl or that. This is what
- 49:14Speaker 1: the first play was supposed to look like. Look at
- 49:16Speaker 1: him throw this, though. It's not even a good pocket, right?
- 49:20Speaker 1: And he's able to whip that thing in there. It's stupid.
- 49:27Speaker 1: He knows exactly what he's doing too. Looking it off,
- 49:29Speaker 1: making sure. That's where you want to go. Why if
- 49:32Speaker 1: you're the Panthers? Why is there space right here? There
- 49:36Speaker 1: should not be that much space. The fact of the
- 49:38Speaker 1: matter is he took advantage of that space, and he
- 49:40Speaker 1: saw that space. Even this throw too, he can't really
- 49:43Speaker 1: step into it. He falls, perfect. Perfect throw. Two by two,
- 49:49Speaker 1: motion over to three by one. Checking it out, seeing
- 49:51Speaker 1: this backer here could be blitzing. Need to figure it out,
- 49:55Speaker 1: what are we doing? Right, ah, all right, not so fast.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Probably sends the line this way to help, which he does.
- 50:06Speaker 1: And just... What do you want me to do? I
- 50:10Speaker 1: don't know what to break down. It's just a feel
- 50:12Speaker 1: for the pocket that's unlike anything I've really ever seen.
- 50:18Speaker 1: So what they're trying to do, and I love this
- 50:19Speaker 1: because they've run this a thousand times before, Khalif on
- 50:22Speaker 1: a stutter, go through route to hold this safety and
- 50:27Speaker 1: bring in something over here. It's a very simple read. One,
- 50:30Speaker 1: alert this first man to two. They don't get it.
- 50:33Speaker 1: He doesn't force it. He doesn't just throw it away, right?
- 50:36Speaker 1: You can't throw this. It's not good. It's not there.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Could probably get here and throw that. Not so fast
- 50:42Speaker 1: when he attaches. Who's got the quarterback? Nobody. Nobody, baby.
- 50:53Speaker 1: So good. We've got to see it from this angle, right?
- 50:56Speaker 1: They're trying to hit that double move, that stutter go,
- 51:00Speaker 1: bringing Roma Dunzey over there. Roma's open. Roma's open. Just
- 51:04Speaker 1: got to find him. But he said, you know what?
- 51:06Speaker 1: If I can take it to myself, two rushing touchdowns,
- 51:10Speaker 1: the feel of the pocket, they're not even trying to
- 51:12Speaker 1: tackle him. I don't know what they're doing. They can't
- 51:14Speaker 1: see him or something. And then he just outruns everyone.
- 51:16Speaker 1: This is stupid. Look at the speed. Good butt block
- 51:20Speaker 1: by Luther Burden. All right, next play right here. Hurry
- 51:23Speaker 1: it up. Get up there. Run the hurry up. No
- 51:25Speaker 1: one's ready. Once again, truly. One, two, three. Hitch ball.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Just a miss. I'm not exactly sure what happened here.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I think they're running double post and an over route.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Just a missed throw. This was the weird one to me. One, two, three,
- 51:46Speaker 1: hitch ball. Boom. Crazy. Not much to break down there.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Just a missed one. Let's see his feet right here.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Can't just break down all good ones. Colson Levin's wide open.
- 51:56Speaker 1: That's his target. I mean, he would have been running
- 51:58Speaker 1: for a long time. There's no one there. So it's
- 52:01Speaker 1: not like they didn't try to get him the football.
- 52:03Speaker 1: But got to give him a catch early. One, two, three.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Maybe he was supposed to sit down. I don't know.
- 52:11Speaker 1: He's run a couple wrong routes. Maybe he should have
- 52:14Speaker 1: sat down. I don't know. Not a lot there. Just
- 52:16Speaker 1: a miss. Alright, next play. 2x2 formation. See what's going
- 52:24Speaker 1: on here. Alright, trying to blitz. Maybe not trying to blitz.
- 52:28Speaker 1: A little motion. Just another, it's just playing backyard ball
- 52:35Speaker 1: because when he hits his drop, they're trying to hit
- 52:38Speaker 1: this slant route. He's a shallow cross right here. That's one,
- 52:42Speaker 1: that's two. Nothing's there. These guys are here. Now let's
- 52:45Speaker 1: just make a move. And let's continue to hit the
- 52:48Speaker 1: shallow cross where no one's there and buy time. They
- 52:50Speaker 1: could not get pressure on him. And I think it's
- 52:51Speaker 1: because two things. I think the Chicago Bears offensive line
- 52:54Speaker 1: is better than you think. And I think that the
- 52:56Speaker 1: Carolina Panthers defensive line is not that great either. But
- 53:00Speaker 1: they're just running a shallow cross. Right here and right here. Boom, boom.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Nice throw. So good. All right, here we go. Third
- 53:12Speaker 1: down looks like. Third and five. There's three mandate. You
- 53:15Speaker 1: ever see that Madden? You ever played Madden and that's
- 53:17Speaker 1: engage eight? This is what it is. What does Caleb
- 53:21Speaker 1: Williams do to it? They have seven to block eight.
- 53:24Speaker 1: They all bail out. Good job protecting. That's got to
- 53:27Speaker 1: be the worst feeling for a defense to understand, hey,
- 53:31Speaker 1: You know what? I'm going to find my quick throw.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Let me go through. Let me have a stop route
- 53:37Speaker 1: and a wrap route. So it really should be going
- 53:39Speaker 1: to this wrap. But when they're jumping out like that,
- 53:42Speaker 1: he reads it low to high. As soon as his
- 53:44Speaker 1: flat defender gets out before the soot curl can get there.
- 53:46Speaker 1: I mean, they got four over three. This is covered.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Not with timing. It's not. Not with timing. I thought
- 53:53Speaker 1: that timing was really good with Kalief. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Engage eight with Madden. Right, let's just stop right there.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Luther's gonna clear it out. I mean, he was gonna
- 54:07Speaker 1: be open too. Look at Luther, boom. But the timing
- 54:10Speaker 1: and the rhythm of this throw, excellent, no notes. All right,
- 54:13Speaker 1: last play right here. What are they gonna do? Are
- 54:14Speaker 1: they gonna quarterback sneak it? Not so fast. By the way,
- 54:19Speaker 1: it looked like they jumped a little bit. Not gonna
- 54:21Speaker 1: tell anyone. Rolling out to your left is very difficult,
- 54:25Speaker 1: and then just a wide open touchdown. I mean, how
- 54:27Speaker 1: many sneak routes can you do? right? Here, right here.
- 54:30Speaker 1: I mean, look, Caleb Williams, Bears, they played so well.
- 54:34Speaker 1: I mean, the play calling was great. Hanging 59 on anyone.
- 54:38Speaker 1: And an Oprah, I think it's the most for Chicago Bears.
- 54:41Speaker 1: But the Bears, to me, look pretty scary in week one.
- 54:45Speaker 1: All right, guys, I hope that your jaw was on
- 54:48Speaker 1: the floor like mine was with that Caleb Williams home.
- 54:52Speaker 1: I probably could have shown 20 plays. Let's get into
- 54:55Speaker 1: the last breakdown on this show, and that is Jackson Dart.
- 54:59Speaker 1: I'm telling you, the Giants are a playoff team with
- 55:03Speaker 1: the way that they are playing. It is just outrageously good.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Let's get into it. All right, here's Jackson Dart. Thought
- 55:13Speaker 1: he played extremely well. You heard me break him down
- 55:17Speaker 1: in the top six quarterbacks. One thing he did was
- 55:20Speaker 1: use his legs. Smart about it, though. Get out of bounds. Oh,
- 55:24Speaker 1: and draw that personal foul. Penalty. Let's go. Thought Matt
- 55:30Speaker 1: Nagy called an absolutely outstanding game. Isaiah Likely, MVP for them.
- 55:34Speaker 1: A couple things here. I love this play call. First
- 55:39Speaker 1: of all, the Cowboys defense is just embarrassing. Like, Jackson
- 55:43Speaker 1: Dart embarrasses the Dallas Cowboys. Put them over here. You're
- 55:47Speaker 1: going to crack block right here. You're going to go back,
- 55:50Speaker 1: reading the defensive end. A lot of good things here. Crack.
- 55:54Speaker 1: Lead up on corner. Zone read. He crashes down. You keep.
- 56:01Speaker 1: The gap integrity not great here by the Dallas Cowboys
- 56:06Speaker 1: at all. And Jackson looks really good. And everyone, I mean,
- 56:11Speaker 1: it's on your sideline. You're going to get a call.
- 56:15Speaker 1: So like this. I just put this on there because
- 56:17Speaker 1: he's a runner. Cam Scadaboo. Jackson Dart. Isaiah Likely, come
- 56:23Speaker 1: on through, read it. Really nice mesh right here. It's
- 56:27Speaker 1: a late mesh because he has a hard time seeing
- 56:30Speaker 1: through the tight end to the running back or the quarterback.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Quarterback keeps, crack, replace. Oh, man, you're supposed to be outside.
- 56:40Speaker 1: You're supposed to be here. Horrible defense, but a really
- 56:44Speaker 1: nice play by Jackson Dart. And, of course, penalty. See
- 56:49Speaker 1: it from this view. Let's see what Lawrence is seeing.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Because Isaiah Likely right there. How are you supposed to
- 56:58Speaker 1: see that? You can't see that. There's three guys you
- 57:00Speaker 1: gotta see through. Everyone thinks Skadaboo has it, not so fast. Boom.
- 57:06Speaker 1: Awesome job. Late hit. Bow. Crazy. All right, next play
- 57:11Speaker 1: going fast. Look at this wide field vision. I sort
- 57:14Speaker 1: of like it right here. Wide field vision. Now we're
- 57:17Speaker 1: getting back into it. Three by one formation. All right,
- 57:21Speaker 1: I thought this was a really good feel on a
- 57:25Speaker 1: lot of different ways. This is one of my favorite
- 57:26Speaker 1: reps of the game from Jackson Dart. It doesn't look crazy,
- 57:33Speaker 1: but it is. It's an out route. It's a corner.
- 57:36Speaker 1: You're going to have a crosser right here, and you
- 57:40Speaker 1: have a shallow cross. I'm not quite sure how they're
- 57:42Speaker 1: telling them to view this, how I would view it.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Certain coverage, one, you could alert that to. That would
- 57:49Speaker 1: be three. You gotta tell me something for over here.
- 57:52Speaker 1: So let's see where his eyes are. All right, it's
- 57:55Speaker 1: left to right. So he's right. Surprised he didn't throw that.
- 58:01Speaker 1: That's open. And then you read here to that shallow cross.
- 58:06Speaker 1: All right, is that OBJ? And then what's really cool
- 58:09Speaker 1: here is he's getting to his fourth read. One, two, three, four.
- 58:14Speaker 1: He has a crossing route. But he sees Isaiah Likely
- 58:19Speaker 1: and Jackson Dart on the same page. He sees this
- 58:21Speaker 1: safety trying to cut. Instead of going there, he just stops.
- 58:25Speaker 1: Jackson Dart and him have to be on the exact
- 58:27Speaker 1: same page, which they are. Isaiah Likely is going to
- 58:31Speaker 1: be used like Travis Kelsey, easily. And then it looks
- 58:35Speaker 1: like a ho-hum completion, 13-yard completion in the playbook or
- 58:41Speaker 1: in the stats, but unfortunately it's not. And that's why
- 58:45Speaker 1: you watch this channel to get breakdowns like this. He's cutting.
- 58:49Speaker 1: He's going through progression. Look at the pocket. That's a dime.
- 58:54Speaker 1: It's called an offset throw. Instead of going all the way,
- 58:57Speaker 1: offset throw, inside shoulder, turn up. Really good with a
- 59:00Speaker 1: dude in your face too. Come on now. Right? Let's
- 59:05Speaker 1: see it. Watch his footwork. Left foot up. One, two, three.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Not there. Go to your third progression. Now you're just
- 59:13Speaker 1: playing off this. All right, he's coming open. Jackson Dart,
- 59:16Speaker 1: you got to see that. Isaiah Likely, you got to
- 59:18Speaker 1: see that. He does. They're on the same page. And
- 59:21Speaker 1: you got to throw it off set. God, stay on
- 59:23Speaker 1: your feet. That's a touchdown. Great throw. He knows it, too.
- 59:26Speaker 1: All right, next play, getting lined up. Three-by-one formation, tight
- 59:30Speaker 1: split right here. Understanding, hey, it looks like it's third down.
- 59:34Speaker 1: They got six up. Where's protection? Where's all this stuff?
- 59:38Speaker 1: Jackson gives a little signal. A lot of guys staying in.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Come on. It's Isaiah Likely again. It's so good. First
- 59:47Speaker 1: of all, you have a corner route, and you have
- 59:49Speaker 1: a corner that's outside leverage, two yards outside leverage. The
- 59:52Speaker 1: other thing about this, they're bringing five and they're rushing, right?
- 59:58Speaker 1: I don't know why zero has him. All right, so
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: it's like a hug rush right here. Back has to
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: step up, get it. Doesn't do a great job. The
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: center just literally lets the one technique go or the
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: nose guard go. You have to buy time. You have
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: to move back. You have to retreat. And then you're
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: throwing that on your back foot Come on now. One, two, three, four, five.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Really good job of fighting to get outside leverage. Look
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: when he throws this ball. He's starting to throw this
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: and he's just now looking. That can be, if that's
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: under thrown, that's a bad football. But that is a
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: perfectly thrown football when you're on the move. Tight split.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Look how far outside this dude is, right? But Jackson
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: does a good job. I think the O-line is sliding
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: all the way out. So he's there, he's there, he's there,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: he's there. The left guard has to be a lot better.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I thought my Naga played really well too. So back
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: has here and the A-gap. Go. You can't just punch
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: and go. You got to go. You got to go
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: left guard. This is what caused them to do this.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: And then you're throwing it right here as you're falling away.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: That's a tough throw. Really tough throw, but I like it.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I like him fighting to get outside. I like him understanding, hey,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I'm losing. Right here, this is a nose guard. It's
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: a zero. Zero technique means head up. This should not
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: be that easy of a completion, but it is because
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: these two dudes are on the same page. 90% until
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: the kneel down on third down. By the way, 90%
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: on third down. Pretty freaking wild. All right, second and seven.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Let's put them underneath. Let's run the football. Let's do
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: all this fun stuff in between, right? Tight splits. Everyone's
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: inside the numbers on this side. Cowboys are playing some
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: type of two shell look. Little pop pass. Boom. So good.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Like easy completion. It doesn't have to be crazy hard.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: It really doesn't, right? So you're running a slant right here.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: You have a buck pass is what Matt Nagy calls it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Sell it jab 36 buck pass. And you're showing, which
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: means a shallow cross, but you got to be on
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: the move because this guy's right here. So you read
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: one to two to three right there. And this is
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: cover two. This corner messes up. So I don't know.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: It's just taking advantage of opportunities when they're there. Keeping
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: your eyes down the field. That's your first read. It's
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: exactly where you want to go. Maybe he's on a crosser.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Not quite sure. But whatever it is, it's such a
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: good play call. The guy's coming free right in his
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: face too, and he's able to get this up and over.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: So he's down, I think he's climbing up, show route,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: which is a shallow cross, but you got to stay
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: on the move. I thought the running backs played well.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Dart had, I think, almost 50 yards rushing, maybe a
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: little bit more. Sell it, jab, 16 buck. That was
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: a tough block to reach a three like that. You
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: got to get going though, right? And all this is,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: once these linebackers are froze, good luck. They gotta in
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: and out these guys. How do they do it? Beat
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: them across with speed. Here's the other thing too. You
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: think this is some easy throw, you're throwing across your
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: body when the guy's going full speed. If this is
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: behind him, he doesn't have the rack or the run
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: after catch yards. So nice work just putting this in
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: front of him. All right, here we go. Look how
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: wide this is. Again, make this Dallas Cowboys defense play
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: in space. It's empty, they're stacked, they're bringing five. Oh
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: my goodness, who's getting fired? What in the world happened? Well, here,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I'll tell you what happened. This is an interesting alignment.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: So this is, sorry about that, this is a small guy.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: If I can work this today, boys. This is a
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: small body. all the way out here, right? He's the nickel.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: He's a down guy. The line is going out here.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: In reality, they should five down this, which means he's
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: got him. He's got him here, here, here. They don't.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: They're full on sliding all the way over here, when
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: in reality, someone has to come out here. Jackson doesn't
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: see it. This is a mess up. Somebody's getting fired.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. But you can't get your franchise quarterback
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: hit like that. Pretty simple little route. We used to
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: run this route all the time. It's a stash route,
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: which means get open. It's an inside fade. It's a
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: stick route. And then it's a wrap route. I totally
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: get this. I understand this. Just throw this. He's working
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: down here. I'd love to see him work up here.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I'm sure Nagy's fixing that. You do that and then
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: maybe you just throw to him or you throw out here.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he thought that he was going to
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: be protected. That is going to hurt tomorrow morning. Talk
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: about him staying healthy. Everything that he does. But you see,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: if you're head up, you should be going out. Make
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: this five down call. It's a weird front because it
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: looks like there's only three downs of credit to the Cowboys.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Not a sack, though, but you're getting your dude absolutely killed.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: It's just like right here, right here, right here, here, here.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Five down. Pretty simple. Got to fix it because, man,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: that hurt. Ugh. All right, here we go. Little stack,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: little bunch, empty. They liked empty a lot this game.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Cowboys said, hey, I'm gonna try to rush five. When
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: they rushed four, they did not get home very often.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: You got him and him dropping here, going over here,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: and they picked this up perfectly. And when they do this,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I think they're trying to go to this crazy cover two,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: where that's gonna be a safety in the half, that's
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: gonna be a safety in the half. This defensive end
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: is playing corner, he's playing corner. So it's got a
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: half and a half. Just throw it where they're not.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: They couldn't cover the flats. They couldn't cover this. This
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: is a very scary throw, very difficult throw. You've got
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: to be up and over. He does it though. I
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: don't like the spacing over here. I think what they're
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: supposed to do is sit there, there, right there, right there.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Just a different way to get to it. Their spacing
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: needs to be better. Boom. Jackson Dart sees it. This
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: is a tough coverage to see. They're getting some funky
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: cover too with Blitzen and there's just holes everywhere. Open, open. Crazy.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: So you see the center pointing out, let's five down.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Five across, five down. Once he drops and he drops,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: they gotta go bump off to get this dude. See
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: what Singletary does. Seems to be their third down scat back.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Understands protections. Everything about it, they get it. Look at
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that throw though. Come on now. Nice throw, Malik Neighbors.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Surprise he played, like he played. Love that he played.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: So as a quarterback, you're looking here, QB vision cone,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: he goes here, we throw it that way. It's not hard.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: It's not hard to play quarterback. I mean, it is
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: really hard, but it's also easy. Here we go, two
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: by two formation. Are they playing man, are they not?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Dart's using his cadence as if they're showing you blitz
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: and they're not, right? Three buzz, this is for the
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: half two, I think. So good, from the opposite hash.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Looks like they're just like sitting down, sitting down in zones,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: and then you're running the circus route. Just seeing this,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: as soon as Jackson sees that it's single high zone, Man,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: hit this right here. These two is good for cover
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: two or cover four, but this route concept up top,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: got to love it. He's showing a lot of growth too.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: That's a nice route. And I mean, the fact that
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: he's able to hit that on the sideline, I think
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: it stayed complete, but man, that's unbelievable. What a throw too.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: He sees it. I think in general, he's seeing everything
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: a lot better. He's seeing things from a different perspective.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: He sees that this is probably going to be it.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: If that's the case, know exactly where to go with
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: the football. It's all the way out. It's a pretty ball, dude.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Come on now. To the field. Toe drag. Swag. Let's
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: see from this view. He just locks in. Let's see
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: where his eyes are. His eyes should go here. Let's
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: see where his eyes are. Perfect. Perfect. No notes. Does
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: it exactly right. This guy comes over here. You go there.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: You probably look better than I expected. Alright, here we go. Trips. Formation. Formation.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Four by one. It's still all the rage. Offenses had
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: a field day. Oh, not so much. All this four
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: by one check. Let's just get a two by two.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Look at what one simple motion does. Bosses them, makes
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: them switch, makes them talk. It's just a simple motion.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: It's just Z to double right. That's all that formation is.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Z to gun double right. Oh my gosh. Wide open. Yes,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: it's wide open. Doesn't take a genius to see that. However,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: a lot of times when things are wide open, quarterbacks
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: can't see it. Quarterbacks don't see it. I like it.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: So it's a smash concept. You go in, you go out,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: you go to the corner. It's a post if you
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: have too high, and it's a dagger. So this is
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: single high zone man up there, and this is cover two,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: cover four down here. So he's pretty snap reading this.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: He sees right here. I have no idea what coverage
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: they're in. Looks like they're trying to triangle three guys
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: on one with Malik neighbors. They get confused with this
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: because this safety feels like he probably has to cut
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: this if this is a shallow cross. If that's the case,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: he should back up. Oh, no. All of a sudden,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: both of these guys are here. He's like, oh, my gosh,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I'm out of position and just a dime. Good job
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: taking advantage of the Cowboys defense. Two guys on this.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: This is wide open. So they're taking advantage. It looks
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: like easy play calls. They're taking advantage of how they
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: play this though. Dime. All right, here we go. A
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: couple more plays here. Two by two under center. I
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: like it. Put Jackson under center more. A little Y
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: peel motion. Buck pass again. They're doing it again. And
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: they're hitting Malik Neighbors. They did this earlier to another
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: tight end or another receiver, but they're doing it out
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: of the slot. So it could be post, wheel, whatever.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Come across here, 12 to 14. You're going to come
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: here and hit that. This is one. You maybe want
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: to alert this wheel, and then that's two. But I
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: like this. Guard pull. Everything tells you strong run that way.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: All you need to do is get these linebackers to
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: step up. You actually want it versus two-eye shell look.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Get over here. It's a wheel and up post. Just
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: keep running. It's a nice throw too because the number
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: zero sort of has it. Oh, he throws it right
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: over his overstretched arms. Dime. So guard here. Why peel motion?
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Everything's selling it that way. You really want to affect
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: this guy. That's the only guy you want to affect.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: You want him to go that way with this right
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: guard pull. Sell it. Jab 37. Seven odd to the left.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Evens are to the right. You get it. And then
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: when he does this, you're like, oh man, not so fast.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Get over there. I mean, first of all, Malik's like
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: calling for it right now. He's like, hi, I'm open.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Keep running those second window. And that's just a really
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: good throw. You got to have touch, but you got
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: to be able to drive it too. Nice work. Boom, boom.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Really good sell on the play action too. Malik, you
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: got to keep running. Just over the overstretched arms. Nice
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: way to get him to catch and get him. Here
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: we go. Under center. Once again. Man, Matt Nagy called
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: a good game. He says on-on, which means the play
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: that we're doing is on. Such an easy touchdown. I
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: like this. It's literally... Everything is going this way. You're
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: trying to get Scataboo in the flat and you're blocking here,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: but in reality, you're not blocking. What you're doing is
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: you're blocking and bluffing and making yourself available. They see it.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: They in and out it, which you'll see here, right?
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: They're in and outing. 13 goes way too far. He
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: takes this. He tries to drop off on this. Not
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: so fast, my friend. And I guarantee you on this
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: over route, like you threw Scataboo in practice, you threw
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: this in practice, you probably didn't throw Isaiah Likely in practice,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: but nobody covered him. Really nice play call and design.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Jet sweep motion, you're getting 13 to go. Scataboo is
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: number one, 84 is number two. Isaiah's probably not even
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: in it. You get him though. How easy is that? Touchdown.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: All right, last play right here, third and five. What
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: are we going to do on third and five? Cowboys
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: had a hard time getting lined up. He's alerting something. Alert, alert, alert.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Let's check the play. What are we doing? Alert, alert, alert.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: Check that. Motion over to a two by two. It's
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: still flat. There ain't nothing to it. Nothing to it.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: The Cowboys defense got embarrassed. You can't, like, you got
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: to have somebody out here. This was the third flat
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: throw in a row. So look, the fighting Jackson darts, hardballs, scataboo, likely.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Malik neighbors when he's healthy. If the Giants can play
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: like this, I'm telling you, they are going to be
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: a problem. Just wide open. What are we doing here?
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Come on. All right, guys, thank you so much for watching.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: I really appreciate every single one of you. I hope
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: you like this style of format. Make sure you like, comment,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: let me know what we can do. We're just trying
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: to be the best football nerd breakdown show ever, along
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: with a little bit of Top 6. Thanks so much
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: for your love. See you next time.
