Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Why it was namous Obi and j R. Harman. Today
- 0:02Speaker 1: we even while I broke your heard me with Coco
- 0:05Speaker 1: and we got Dorito's bread bacon. We make a bacon
- 0:10Speaker 1: sandwiches about the show y'all High Woods when I was
- 0:13Speaker 1: broken brom nice and this reminds me of like would
- 0:40Speaker 1: i'd imagine my little brother ate after school to be honest,
- 0:44Speaker 1: like super simple when you when I see anything red
- 0:48Speaker 1: or chips, gang some cyrial, I was actually thinking you
- 0:52Speaker 1: were gonna go for cereal. But um, but I'm excited
- 0:56Speaker 1: to eat some bacon. The last time I eat bacon
- 0:58Speaker 1: was a long time ago. I think now I just
- 1:00Speaker 1: buy a turkey bacon, so cook me, feed me. So
- 1:05Speaker 1: some people don't know how to work it, I know
- 1:08Speaker 1: how to Rookie. I feel like you're a real cook
- 1:12Speaker 1: because when we were talking earlier too, it's just like
- 1:15Speaker 1: you're so comfortable. I know what I'm doing. So what's
- 1:19Speaker 1: your backstory? It wasn't a real cook. But when I
- 1:22Speaker 1: was growing up, my mama had a stroke when I
- 1:26Speaker 1: was about ten. She actually had two when I was
- 1:30Speaker 1: ten and like thirteen, so I couldn't. I had to
- 1:34Speaker 1: fix up. I had to, really, I had to like
- 1:36Speaker 1: bathe the feed up, all kinds of stuff like that.
- 1:39Speaker 1: But I didn't really know how to cook. But I
- 1:41Speaker 1: got an older brother and the older sister who did
- 1:43Speaker 1: a little bit more. But when it came to me,
- 1:45Speaker 1: it was baking bread. You know what I'm saying, all right?
- 1:52Speaker 1: And this was like this like after school dish or
- 1:54Speaker 1: just around the clock dish. This was if I'm hungry. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: probably like autter school or someth because at school, I
- 2:03Speaker 1: probably ate breakfast or something. You know that the schools
- 2:05Speaker 1: had free breakfast and ship but really one of those
- 2:09Speaker 1: that loaded up on the free sereal or mm hmmm, nah,
- 2:13Speaker 1: because my appetite when I was when I was going on,
- 2:16Speaker 1: my appetite was just my appetites Tuesday still like I
- 2:20Speaker 1: eat this a little bit, so I wouldn't greet you
- 2:23Speaker 1: or nothing, because I couldn't eat at home, but I
- 2:26Speaker 1: make sure I eating stuff taking home and I see
- 2:29Speaker 1: what's what they got next. Whatever. However, so when was
- 2:33Speaker 1: the last time you made this dish for yourself? It's
- 2:36Speaker 1: been years years, but it ain't been that many years though,
- 2:40Speaker 1: probably high school. Like I was in high school, I graduated,
- 2:46Speaker 1: so yeah, but when did you get your like your
- 2:53Speaker 1: first start on like your music career. I started recording
- 2:58Speaker 1: when I was seventeen years old, so and then a
- 3:03Speaker 1: year after that, I just worked. I worked work for
- 3:07Speaker 1: a whole Australia. You didn't have straight I got signed
- 3:09Speaker 1: like November tween the eighteen to Columbia Records. So and
- 3:13Speaker 1: how did you get how did you go from rapping?
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm guessing like in your your friends right, and then
- 3:23Speaker 1: how did you get to Columbia? Like how does Columbia
- 3:25Speaker 1: get a hold of your music? From bad Ridge um? Columbia?
- 3:32Speaker 1: They like discovered me on YouTube. A lot of my
- 3:35Speaker 1: stuff was going viral, million's reviews and stuff like that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: By time I was signed, already had like ten or
- 3:41Speaker 1: fifteen million views, like just streams without the label, Like
- 3:45Speaker 1: it just went viral unexpected. I ain't even think it would.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I just shot videos. I started like taking the series
- 3:50Speaker 1: like then let me try to step out. So they
- 3:53Speaker 1: see this video and they immediately just reach out to you.
- 3:55Speaker 1: They reach out all the label I took a trip
- 3:58Speaker 1: to New York and me were like ten and labels
- 4:00Speaker 1: and I was like, I'm gonna just go with Clump
- 4:02Speaker 1: And what'd your parents say? Well, all this is going on.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They didn't know what the same mom. They was just
- 4:06Speaker 1: like all right, because damn really they wasn't into music,
- 4:11Speaker 1: Like they weren't not really for it for real. I
- 4:14Speaker 1: ain't gonna say they wasn't really for it, but it
- 4:15Speaker 1: was a surprise. I wasn't even tell the moms and pops. Well,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I I grew up in a single home, so moms,
- 4:21Speaker 1: but I talked about pops too. We got a good relationship.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But I wasn't telling her like when I leave a house,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I'm going to the studio. It was just going I'm
- 4:29Speaker 1: just trying to picture. What does the studio look like?
- 4:31Speaker 1: Is this like a studio at your friend's house or
- 4:32Speaker 1: like like an actual studio. It was a studio in
- 4:38Speaker 1: my friend's house. He had a studio. He had a
- 4:44Speaker 1: too speakers and a microphone set up in one of
- 4:47Speaker 1: his rooms in his house. And he made he actually
- 4:52Speaker 1: like uh he actually like um a platinum producer right now.
- 5:02Speaker 1: We both like started like in his house and stuff.
- 5:05Speaker 1: But he uh, he actually got some success too, but
- 5:08Speaker 1: but started yeah, and he's like I probably still got
- 5:12Speaker 1: videos in my phone to us making one of my
- 5:15Speaker 1: hits in the crib yeah, like he's like my first
- 5:20Speaker 1: couple of songs that started blowing up. They came out
- 5:22Speaker 1: of his carib I'm gonna just wait on. So he
- 5:25Speaker 1: you both weren't like yeah, we both were just you know,
- 5:28Speaker 1: it's a pushing for a dream. Now. Do you guys
- 5:33Speaker 1: still clap? Yeah? Yeah, we just Uh. I had my
- 5:36Speaker 1: first arena showing Baton Rouge just past three days ago,
- 5:41Speaker 1: like three days ago, first ever and we uh he
- 5:43Speaker 1: came out and support came performed with me and Stiff
- 5:46Speaker 1: because all my songs that's hits, he produced them. Man,
- 5:49Speaker 1: we both like, you know, yeah, Chris James. This name
- 5:55Speaker 1: is Chris James, probably like five six years older than you,
- 5:59Speaker 1: probably about four five years older than me. So would
- 6:02Speaker 1: you consider him like a mentor? Did you have mentors? Oh?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Not really? He uh he helped me with certain things.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I would say, like we help each other though, because
- 6:14Speaker 1: I mean sometimes you look at me like Bertie did
- 6:16Speaker 1: your thing, like hold up what I should do? And
- 6:19Speaker 1: I give him? We both we feet ot. We we
- 6:21Speaker 1: ment to each other for for real, like we help
- 6:24Speaker 1: each other whatever. You know. So you were first record
- 6:28Speaker 1: deal on two thousand and eighteen. You're not currently fine
- 6:31Speaker 1: to Columbia. Correct, No, with Empire you Yeah, so was
- 6:37Speaker 1: there like a pivot or like something crazy to happen.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'm curious what happened. Uh, well, honestly it was. It
- 6:47Speaker 1: really wasn't any too crazy. Columbia just was behind all time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: The way I said my deal up was we should
- 6:54Speaker 1: drop by this amount of time. If not, you owe
- 6:57Speaker 1: me anything. It used to at that up like that
- 7:01Speaker 1: what my lawyer did. Yeah, my lawyers that, and you
- 7:05Speaker 1: had people people are also coming at you, so you
- 7:08Speaker 1: can kind of control that, right, Yeah, And everybody wouldn't
- 7:12Speaker 1: agreeing to that. So that's why in Columbia was like,
- 7:15Speaker 1: you know what, that's cool, okay. And then so it
- 7:19Speaker 1: was easy to get out to deal if they didn't perform, yo,
- 7:23Speaker 1: like okay, we ain't gonna give you this, but we
- 7:25Speaker 1: don't let you continue your career and everything I got,
- 7:28Speaker 1: my masters and all that. They ain't interfering with it
- 7:31Speaker 1: and nothing like that. So a little bad blood Columbia's
- 7:34Speaker 1: still rock with him. It's all good. But I'm with
- 7:38Speaker 1: Empire now. So that's that's the team. How does someone
- 7:44Speaker 1: from your background, you don't have any music business experience
- 7:50Speaker 1: elevate to overnight. A. Um. It took me feeling real
- 7:57Speaker 1: or something going out the way I thought it would go,
- 7:59Speaker 1: like come, let'ta bea I thought it alright, cool, it's up,
- 8:02Speaker 1: like I ain't with about men. I know I got
- 8:04Speaker 1: the support. It didn't go like that I already had.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I was thinking I either the label for support when
- 8:10Speaker 1: I already had fifteen and streaming when I got signed.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I was I was young though, you know, so this
- 8:16Speaker 1: two thousand and eight was music distribution. It was still
- 8:21Speaker 1: heavinly Le Digital at that time, right, yes, so you
- 8:23Speaker 1: really didn't even need them for a distribution I made.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I made a super I made a wrong decision. I
- 8:29Speaker 1: did because Empire actually gave Match the same deal with Columbia.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I was like, I want to be major. It didn't
- 8:36Speaker 1: make sense. But now can you explain to everybody who
- 8:41Speaker 1: listening to the difference that you learned between major and independence? Yes, Major,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you know all your masters or nothing like that. Distribution
- 8:48Speaker 1: is just you know, they give you funds to put
- 8:52Speaker 1: out whatever you distribute and through them like like marketing
- 8:57Speaker 1: or studio signed. But that both okay, it's actually both.
- 9:02Speaker 1: In the advance, yeah, it's everything. It's everything. A label.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Dou is just but there's no record stores now like
- 9:10Speaker 1: when I was younger, you know you would get distributions. Yeah,
- 9:14Speaker 1: you're wearing Walmart wherever. So now the question is this,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and I hate to be the devil for the record labels,
- 9:21Speaker 1: is like, what role are you really playing when you
- 9:23Speaker 1: have an artist like yourself that has this yeah and
- 9:27Speaker 1: can sell his own music and fill his own show
- 9:32Speaker 1: the seats at his shows, like, um, some artists maybe
- 9:37Speaker 1: be needing the bag sometimes and then some artists be
- 9:41Speaker 1: getting the results. And then some artists do us for
- 9:44Speaker 1: different reasons. I feel like sometimes every they don't every
- 9:47Speaker 1: art and then a lot of these artists I feel like, well,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I ain't gonna say I feel like because that's very opinion.
- 9:53Speaker 1: But a lot of people tell me like I'm one
- 9:55Speaker 1: of the smartest guys, like young guys, don't safe that
- 10:00Speaker 1: just that's doing music because I don't know just I'll
- 10:04Speaker 1: be thinking different. I'd be thinking like this, does this
- 10:08Speaker 1: make sense business business wise and all that. I'll be
- 10:10Speaker 1: like it, actually think about that type of stuff. Some
- 10:14Speaker 1: people do it fuss money, you might get a two
- 10:19Speaker 1: all events. They ain't worry about if their music blow
- 10:21Speaker 1: they're like, dang, I was just broke my problem. But
- 10:33Speaker 1: now the two hundred thousand all about back right through
- 10:37Speaker 1: your Well what impart is very simple? A is uh,
- 10:40Speaker 1: whatever music you distribute, that's the only way they can
- 10:43Speaker 1: get their money back from you. Oh not shows, not shows,
- 10:47Speaker 1: not none of that. Yeah, do we hear that in
- 10:51Speaker 1: your music? Like your business stuff? Are you not? Really?
- 10:54Speaker 1: But you here? You here hot intelligent. I don't people
- 10:57Speaker 1: be like, man, you're different. You do you feel like
- 11:00Speaker 1: you'll ever go that route of breaking down the map
- 11:03Speaker 1: on because that's a that's a huge story, you know.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I always see the rappers and I even seen in
- 11:09Speaker 1: your videos like you showcase all from the money and stuff,
- 11:16Speaker 1: you know, but the behind the scenes is also so
- 11:19Speaker 1: important that to see that you're managing their own career,
- 11:23Speaker 1: paying attention, not any mortal question and Carter here, okay
- 11:28Speaker 1: for management. But at first it was a lot. But
- 11:31Speaker 1: that's I was doing it all by myself, so it
- 11:33Speaker 1: was way harder. I would say it was way harder,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and it was way more like um, it was way
- 11:43Speaker 1: more learning process. I got all my experience from like
- 11:52Speaker 1: just doing it alone going wrong, like still not because
- 11:55Speaker 1: you know when you do. You are altaist. You really
- 11:57Speaker 1: got too much management power to make power move you
- 12:00Speaker 1: just the artist, And it's easy for somebody in position
- 12:03Speaker 1: to say nah when going your way. So what do
- 12:10Speaker 1: you do with your first sex? I got me a
- 12:14Speaker 1: place to love. I help my mom got with which
- 12:16Speaker 1: she needed. Uh not a fact, That's really what I did.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I held my I bought me a car. I carried
- 12:23Speaker 1: it out on the car. What kind of car? Mustang?
- 12:26Speaker 1: It was funny seven, it was funny eight thing. I
- 12:28Speaker 1: bought a twenty eight team convertible Mustang. Um, I heard
- 12:33Speaker 1: my mama take a She got a massive degree to
- 12:39Speaker 1: be in college, but he couldn't really afford it, like
- 12:41Speaker 1: for for and she needed money for this test and
- 12:46Speaker 1: I gave her some money and she asked to graduated college.
- 12:49Speaker 1: That's awesome. Yeah, that's amazing. How do you feel feel good?
- 12:55Speaker 1: I mean I don't feel like you no other way.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I mean I don't. I ain't really bragg him, but yeah,
- 13:01Speaker 1: I just feel like That's what I posted through Connor.
- 13:04Speaker 1: She would have did it for me. So do you
- 13:08Speaker 1: feel like people arrived as an artist? Arriving? Still arriving,
- 13:14Speaker 1: still arriving like there's more miles songs you'd like to hit. Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 1: but you hit some of the major ones already. Okay,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I did a couple of things, but not a lot
- 13:27Speaker 1: of things. What would you say is the hardest? Like,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I just had my first arena show, you know, Yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 1: how many people are about for a thogo when you
- 13:40Speaker 1: feel it? Yeah? Wow, that's amazing. Did you have other
- 13:47Speaker 1: people on the show with you? Yeah? Right, Way was
- 13:51Speaker 1: on the show. He was actually the headline for real,
- 13:54Speaker 1: for real. But the feedback I'm getting like I had
- 13:57Speaker 1: a real good stew I'm gonna just say that. Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 1: the feedback I'm getting I had a really show. So
- 14:05Speaker 1: what was like the hardest things? And you had to go,
- 14:09Speaker 1: I'm sorry the smoke. You know, what's the hardest thing
- 14:12Speaker 1: you have to go through so far in your career? Uh,
- 14:20Speaker 1: trying to manage myself, I was saying, trying to make
- 14:22Speaker 1: moves myself. That's probably the hardest thing. Would you say,
- 14:29Speaker 1: thank your hardest, sorry guys, your hardest um smile phones,
- 14:36Speaker 1: or your in your career or in your personal? Uh?
- 14:42Speaker 1: Well that's in my career trying to managine myself, but um,
- 14:46Speaker 1: my heart is probably personal because I'm still human. Your
- 14:51Speaker 1: career always go work. I could be big tomorrow, like
- 14:55Speaker 1: I'm getting support, so I ain't never don't too much
- 14:57Speaker 1: be like I'm grateful. Just oh dagn this ain't working
- 15:01Speaker 1: right now because I see the process. I see him
- 15:03Speaker 1: getting big every day. I don't really be triggering, but
- 15:07Speaker 1: like probably personally, like, can you give us like an example, yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: like my well, my mama she more, she ain't more healthier,
- 15:19Speaker 1: but like my pops, he still got that BEETI city
- 15:21Speaker 1: this day. You just got out to the hospital like yesterday.
- 15:27Speaker 1: So like stuff like that. Uh, me helping out like
- 15:34Speaker 1: hand bills and stuff like that for pops and moms.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I got brothers and stuff like that. Are you the
- 15:42Speaker 1: main source of income for your family? No? But I
- 15:46Speaker 1: always feel like as long as I'm doing something, uh,
- 15:50Speaker 1: as long as I'm doing something positive and generating money,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I should always be other help. Maybe she give us
- 15:57Speaker 1: two more pieces. Yeah, we're gonna need a third for later.
- 16:04Speaker 1: But um, I want to try this. Yeah, this is
- 16:07Speaker 1: gonna be rough. I'm getting your guys. I'm getting it
- 16:12Speaker 1: there smoking like I don't want to say at a barbecue,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I got to kiss smoking, hold on little it's down
- 16:21Speaker 1: a little bit though, Yeah, I don't want to set
- 16:23Speaker 1: off on sprinkling. So your single's blowing up right now,
- 16:29Speaker 1: what can we expect like in a few tire for you, uh,
- 16:34Speaker 1: some more singles blowing up? But for real? Uh, just
- 16:39Speaker 1: me evolving, don't get knowledge to different different media sources
- 16:48Speaker 1: and even TV and stuff like that is evolving as
- 16:52Speaker 1: a all right, So tell me something that we don't
- 16:57Speaker 1: know about you. Uh uh. I don't know why, but
- 17:05Speaker 1: I just bought my first bed, keen bed in my house. Right,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I had a CAREERIB since I got signed the first time, right,
- 17:14Speaker 1: but I was sleeping on the same bed my mama
- 17:17Speaker 1: brought me since sixth grades. I felt like a twitter
- 17:20Speaker 1: or something like a full size frame though or was
- 17:26Speaker 1: it weeks ago? Like literally, I promise you huh didn't
- 17:30Speaker 1: have a bad frame and it was a good bed.
- 17:32Speaker 1: It was a great bed. It had a bad frame, yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: Like it was a good bed. But I don't know, man,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I got all this money and I'm just but i'd
- 17:41Speaker 1: never be at home too though. He'd be like that,
- 17:48Speaker 1: that's cool. Actually that's something I would have never even thought.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I just took it up. Feel me, you did Prussia
- 17:56Speaker 1: camera time? All right? Then you how to get your bread?
- 18:01Speaker 1: All right? We're looking real smooth. So I put it
- 18:06Speaker 1: on there. I could really see you making this like
- 18:08Speaker 1: every day. You can see me making this every day. Hunh.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Why it look too good at something? It's like a
- 18:14Speaker 1: go to It's it's easy. You got a lot of making. See.
- 18:18Speaker 1: If you got this problem like this, you just fold
- 18:21Speaker 1: it up so it can fit your bread. You see
- 18:24Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You don't want too less avacan though,
- 18:27Speaker 1: because you would be like, damn, you know bread. Remove
- 18:30Speaker 1: that from the hot burner because I feel like it's
- 18:34Speaker 1: we're smoking. Slide it over. Yeah, don't touch that. Don't
- 18:42Speaker 1: touch it. It is this. It's just because it's so hot. Yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 1: I ain't gonna touch you. I ain't crazy. I burned
- 18:49Speaker 1: myself out a long time ago. I'll take that one. Yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you can take that one. There he goes my first
- 18:59Speaker 1: thank you. So I'm guessing this is how you do
- 19:03Speaker 1: your dish. You got your chips on the side. Yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 1: you gotta have a spicy chips, any kind of spicy chips.
- 19:09Speaker 1: It's a going You gotta have a power way to
- 19:12Speaker 1: me lecture lighted something that's gonna, you know, really smooth.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna steal some of yours and drink this water
- 19:17Speaker 1: to something here that's cool. You don't try to pick
- 19:25Speaker 1: some of the fat off like this, right, Yeah, sometimes
- 19:30Speaker 1: I do, definitely. Damn, Oh, this one's not that fatty though, Yeah, yours,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I fix sure, it's good. I should have deep pop
- 19:38Speaker 1: on mind. But it's all right, all right, let me
- 19:39Speaker 1: get something actually, or some of your cup first, you
- 19:51Speaker 1: know what I was like, I'm sure he's gonna need
- 19:54Speaker 1: mao butter something. No, none of that. Ain't we have
- 19:58Speaker 1: all that? I really ain't had as much bacon. How
- 20:04Speaker 1: many slices on average? Did you put? Like two? Probably
- 20:07Speaker 1: about two? Probably about three? Three? About three? Max? It's good, awesome,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Here we go the time of truth. Time of truth.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It is a super simple dish. So I have faith
- 20:23Speaker 1: in you alright ready. And even though I think cheese
- 20:26Speaker 1: would have been great, but cheese is a luxury, right cheese.
- 20:28Speaker 1: If you're a cheese person, you should have had some
- 20:30Speaker 1: cheese here. Good bacon soundwich, Yeah, it's the spot I'm
- 20:44Speaker 1: telling you. I'm telling you. Bacon sound this would go
- 20:49Speaker 1: to it really does? Is bacon and bread and some chips?
- 20:55Speaker 1: Did you give it a look with? You know what?
- 21:00Speaker 1: And first I was like, okay, well here's this Bob.
- 21:04Speaker 1: It's totally it's the spot, the spot, man, I'm telling
- 21:07Speaker 1: you you gotta whip it up power right yep. So
- 21:18Speaker 1: what's your next milestone? Mm hmm um. Honestly, I'm trying
- 21:27Speaker 1: to go Plano plantum right, that's my names mostime, I
- 21:36Speaker 1: want one of my riggers to go planning. So I'm
- 21:40Speaker 1: gonna definitely put you on the spot. And you can't
- 21:43Speaker 1: avoid the question because I know you're in this industry.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Oh m hm. I'm really like, genuinely cares me get
- 21:53Speaker 1: another stip? I'm genuinely curious. Who are your top I'm
- 22:01Speaker 1: gonna give you up to five favorite rappers in order
- 22:06Speaker 1: mm hmm. You can't play some top five just rotating
- 22:10Speaker 1: and our uh huh. If you want, I could go
- 22:14Speaker 1: first to buy you some time to think on my
- 22:18Speaker 1: top five to help you out, but that's really helping
- 22:23Speaker 1: you out. I have to go first, go first, Thank
- 22:26Speaker 1: you first? Yeah, because I always feel like if you
- 22:32Speaker 1: say your top five and then someone may have forgot
- 22:34Speaker 1: somebody thought later like that, So you go first. All
- 22:39Speaker 1: right problem all time. Hm mhm, better life mm hmm.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I'm let's say Michael Jackson tupap little baby to live baby?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Who who would I say? Like the little baby? Now? Yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 1: little baby. I had to go from back all the
- 23:23Speaker 1: way to now from baby a little battery. Mm oh
- 23:33Speaker 1: you thug, young thug and probably Boost a badass because
- 23:44Speaker 1: I'm from bad rouge and that's just I'm judging you
- 23:48Speaker 1: right now. There's the top five. Yeah, that's my top five.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I gave you two points. I'm gonna give you mine
- 24:00Speaker 1: and let's see if you still stick with your top five.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna stick on my top you think so, yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 1: because I mean I listened to a lot of music.
- 24:09Speaker 1: But mm hmm, Okay, here we go. I'm gonna give
- 24:14Speaker 1: your credit on m J. H. Well, you know what,
- 24:19Speaker 1: are you sure you don't want to switch on MJ
- 24:20Speaker 1: because technically he's not hip hop? So I'll artists, I'll
- 24:24Speaker 1: hip hop, hip hop, hip hop, lou Wayne Baby, Little Wayne,
- 24:30Speaker 1: Little Baby, Kode Black, Kevin Gates, and Boost is Okay,
- 24:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go, okay, and y'all can
- 24:41Speaker 1: rate this, okay. Um, I'm gonna my team, you know, whatever,
- 24:47Speaker 1: it's up to perspective. But I think you're gonna change
- 24:49Speaker 1: after here. Mine, I'm gonna go with I have to
- 24:53Speaker 1: go with j because that's my favorite rapper of all time.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Ok Um. I have to go with Drake because I
- 25:00Speaker 1: think he's just phenomenal and he creeps up in my
- 25:03Speaker 1: my rotation a lot um Little Wayne for sure, just
- 25:08Speaker 1: on respect overall, um eminem m okay, and then there's
- 25:19Speaker 1: so many greats after that. What was that at for um? Damn,
- 25:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna mess this up. You didn't say Tupac in
- 25:26Speaker 1: your top five just now when you redid it. Yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 1: it's always hard. It's always hard when someone says five.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with. I mean, there's so many, there
- 25:38Speaker 1: could be d M X Tupac. Uh, there's so many.
- 25:42Speaker 1: And then on the female side there's Cardi. I love Cardi. Yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 1: What do you feel is your biggest threat to your career? Now?
- 25:51Speaker 1: Just I don't know. I can only get in the
- 25:53Speaker 1: way of was I heeard of me, so I would myself,
- 25:59Speaker 1: my country get myself was Yeah. I think from hanging
- 26:03Speaker 1: out with you, I've learned that you're so versatile and
- 26:07Speaker 1: your turnover. It's like you learn a lesson and you're
- 26:09Speaker 1: just like, I learned a lesson, I made a mistake,
- 26:12Speaker 1: I moved back, I moved from it, you know. And
- 26:15Speaker 1: then the fact that you yourself garnered your own career,
- 26:19Speaker 1: fighting for your own dreams. It's really cool. What advice
- 26:24Speaker 1: would you give to someone that's following behind you. Y'all
- 26:31Speaker 1: told him, never stopped. They will stop working and just
- 26:36Speaker 1: keep working. There's always somebody who just have a moment
- 26:39Speaker 1: and they stopped. Yeah, they see something go wrong and
- 26:42Speaker 1: they stopped. They give all, they discouraged thing, they're not
- 26:47Speaker 1: excited about whatever, they whatever goal is they trying to meet.
- 26:51Speaker 1: So I just tell me, just keep working. Yeah, I
- 26:55Speaker 1: always keep working. What I thought was interesting when I
- 26:57Speaker 1: was trying to book you with your team, one of
- 27:00Speaker 1: the things that stood out was we were trying to
- 27:01Speaker 1: figure out whether to do a morning interview or afternoon interview. Now,
- 27:05Speaker 1: most rappers always it's like late interviews slash possible cancelations
- 27:11Speaker 1: just unfortunately they just the missfights or whatever, and it's
- 27:18Speaker 1: just something I got used to. But what was interesting
- 27:20Speaker 1: about your team was they were like, um, we can
- 27:24Speaker 1: do eight in the morning. Jay will go Jay's j
- 27:28Speaker 1: will Ja doesn't miss his stuff. They're like, it doesn't
- 27:30Speaker 1: matter what hour we could book him, And I thought
- 27:33Speaker 1: that was different, Like the way they were talking about
- 27:37Speaker 1: your work ethic. I'm available and tell them unavailable, Like
- 27:41Speaker 1: if I'm just booked, if I'm booked every alway and
- 27:43Speaker 1: I can't, then that's the point where I say, I
- 27:45Speaker 1: can't make it. Yeah it ain't gonna work, but I'm working.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I ain't missing nothing nothing that's for me, you know
- 27:53Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It was step with my journey, like
- 27:56Speaker 1: it was still count So I just you know, this
- 27:58Speaker 1: experience I've never been even on even for yeah, but
- 28:01Speaker 1: I just want my baking up on that. Yeah, Like
- 28:04Speaker 1: I don't miss. I only trying to miss too much
- 28:07Speaker 1: stuff for me because I know sometimes to just be
- 28:09Speaker 1: one in a lifetime chance sometimes and then after that
- 28:12Speaker 1: chance you take and they go, well, now you've got
- 28:15Speaker 1: a hundred more chances other than that chance you took.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Now you've got zero chances. And another stereotype that I
- 28:23Speaker 1: hate to do two rappers in general is the whole
- 28:26Speaker 1: smoking or drinking, and you don't you're definitely not high,
- 28:32Speaker 1: so you don't do any of that. I mean, I smoke,
- 28:34Speaker 1: but I don't when I have to be, when I
- 28:36Speaker 1: have to present myself, I'm always presumable, and I'm not
- 28:40Speaker 1: gonna you know what I'm saying, because it's just too
- 28:43Speaker 1: I don't know people people people looking for that, you
- 28:48Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like you say, I ain't drunk,
- 28:50Speaker 1: you could tell like I'm just chilling. People always see that,
- 28:53Speaker 1: So I just do it on my own time for real,
- 28:56Speaker 1: for real. Okay, do you feel like hip hop's definitely
- 28:59Speaker 1: stepping away from from because there was a point where
- 29:01Speaker 1: hip hop was like we Chris Stall and all that stuff.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Do you feel like hip hops evolved so far away
- 29:06Speaker 1: from that because I feel like all these rappers now
- 29:09Speaker 1: have their own and like you own your own lane,
- 29:13Speaker 1: you know, but there's no more push of the alcohol
- 29:16Speaker 1: or the vices I feel, you know, yeah, because it
- 29:20Speaker 1: is more I ain't gonna see. It's all the way
- 29:22Speaker 1: just far away from me because a lot of rappers
- 29:27Speaker 1: every almost every rapper smoke, almost every rapper drink. But
- 29:31Speaker 1: I've been meeting more rappers like, oh no, I don't smoke, bro,
- 29:33Speaker 1: I'm good, And they'd be like, hello, who have you met?
- 29:37Speaker 1: So far that shocked you. That doesn't smoke. Oh, it's
- 29:40Speaker 1: a guy named Playboy. He's from my city. He also
- 29:43Speaker 1: like multi gold and platinum, so he he also artists,
- 29:51Speaker 1: not to like you got a couple of ruggers going
- 29:53Speaker 1: on going in, but he smoked like a drink. Like
- 29:56Speaker 1: he'd be like, bro, I ain't trying to I to
- 30:00Speaker 1: be like, bro, all right, it's cool. I'll be like
- 30:06Speaker 1: all right, Now, have you met or worked with like
- 30:11Speaker 1: your dream person that you wanted to work with or
- 30:13Speaker 1: is there someone on the line up that you do
- 30:15Speaker 1: want to work with? Yeah, like the Little Baby somebody
- 30:21Speaker 1: like that. Ain't gonna lot like he inspired me, like
- 30:25Speaker 1: anybody any I'm gonna say you, this is anybody who
- 30:27Speaker 1: like doing good consistently, Like I like make the Stallion
- 30:32Speaker 1: CARDI b Megos, they successful, anybody that's successful and they
- 30:37Speaker 1: did they they for show, like yeah they certified for show. Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It just inspired me so like and you kind of
- 30:44Speaker 1: come from the same background where you built your own audience. Yeah,
- 30:49Speaker 1: she's smooth. She did she had to do. I respect that.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Do you feel like that? And Rouge supports you for
- 30:58Speaker 1: some people that arena show that I just had the
- 31:00Speaker 1: first time they support me. Yeah, yeah, they support me.
- 31:03Speaker 1: At first, it was like, huh, it would be hard,
- 31:07Speaker 1: like I'll be back home and they would be like
- 31:12Speaker 1: sometimes scared to support me, like or they'll be like
- 31:15Speaker 1: I was scared to ask you for a picture because
- 31:17Speaker 1: I don't know bad rules, just way totally different ages.
- 31:20Speaker 1: All friendly and sweet is not? Its completely the opposite.
- 31:23Speaker 1: So everybody like just on their own time and still
- 31:27Speaker 1: but they really used to be like, man, I thought
- 31:29Speaker 1: you was gonna be mad if I asked for a picture,
- 31:31Speaker 1: like scared to support it. They probably do it on
- 31:34Speaker 1: their own time. But but the rend of show it
- 31:37Speaker 1: showed me like, all right, they don't. They don't care.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Have your friends switched up at all? Um? Yeah, I
- 31:43Speaker 1: may not know, not my real friends, but who I
- 31:46Speaker 1: thought that was friends? Because you have two different types
- 31:49Speaker 1: of switch ups. You have to switch up where they're like, um,
- 31:53Speaker 1: they act like you owe them something. But then you
- 31:55Speaker 1: also have to switch up where people that are your
- 31:57Speaker 1: friends are afraid to call your phone. They're like, I
- 31:59Speaker 1: didn't want to bother yoursel so big. Now you know,
- 32:01Speaker 1: do you have both or do you just have the ladder? Yeah?
- 32:05Speaker 1: Even my mama would do that sometimes I thought you
- 32:07Speaker 1: was busy on call. I'll be like, what's wrong with
- 32:11Speaker 1: you to call me? But yeah, I got a lot
- 32:17Speaker 1: of that going on though, But I don't be too mad, dude.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I called up. I called my friends whenever I'm thinking
- 32:24Speaker 1: about it, or my mom or whoever, who all, who
- 32:26Speaker 1: ever feel like that. I just always make sure I
- 32:29Speaker 1: get him a call tool, because if you don't call,
- 32:32Speaker 1: then it is way easier for them to say, yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 1: he's busy. You ain't talk to him in three months.
- 32:38Speaker 1: He ain't called me. He's too way too busy he is.
- 32:42Speaker 1: You can't reach you no more. So I always just
- 32:44Speaker 1: called back home, whoever, my friends, my real friends, even
- 32:48Speaker 1: if they don't you know what I'm saying here my
- 32:50Speaker 1: phone or what though. Yeah, I saw this thing on
- 32:53Speaker 1: CARDI B. I think it was yesterday or one of
- 32:56Speaker 1: the days. She had a birthday party for her daughter
- 32:58Speaker 1: and she just went on there. It was like, if
- 33:01Speaker 1: you're related to me, if you came out of my
- 33:03Speaker 1: grandma's coach, you know, just DM me and I will
- 33:07Speaker 1: send you the information, like you know, like I may
- 33:10Speaker 1: forget who to send it. That was so real, because
- 33:13Speaker 1: that is an actual problem that people face when they
- 33:15Speaker 1: blow up. It's like all of a sudden, people are like,
- 33:18Speaker 1: well maybe you forgot about me, or or maybe I
- 33:20Speaker 1: wasn't invited, and it just get famous. It's so many
- 33:24Speaker 1: people they be they be looking like man, so many people.
- 33:28Speaker 1: He don't even know who I am. Normal, like bro,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I know who you like that? Yeah, yeah exactly. But
- 33:38Speaker 1: but I think it's cool that you know you've got
- 33:41Speaker 1: you and she you guys take the extra step to
- 33:44Speaker 1: like reach out or say you know I'm here. But
- 33:48Speaker 1: it is an additional responsibility. M. But anyways, thank you
- 33:53Speaker 1: so much for feeding me today. This sandwich is pretty good.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I was yapping you ate all yours. Yeah, so this
- 34:00Speaker 1: is my meal for today. I really had a struggle
- 34:02Speaker 1: meal today. It's my lunch. M. It's delicious. Um. Thank
- 34:10Speaker 1: you again for taking the time after day eating your
- 34:12Speaker 1: first meal for shore for the day. Now, I know
- 34:17Speaker 1: I appreciate. I don't need eggs and cheese. Eggs and cheese,
- 34:21Speaker 1: I said, I won't need him. Oh, I was about
- 34:24Speaker 1: to say, I think I said you don't eat eggs
- 34:25Speaker 1: and cheese. I was about to say, you know what
- 34:27Speaker 1: I'm saying, like if you know I'm running short on
- 34:29Speaker 1: groceries and bacon and bread. I could be like up
- 34:34Speaker 1: that Obian special. I'll call it special, and you guys
- 34:40Speaker 1: could check out Obian's special in the Cookbook of Eating
- 34:45Speaker 1: Wall Broke, which is really simple. Obviously, bread and bacon.
- 34:50Speaker 1: You're pretty good to go. Thank you so much. I
- 34:53Speaker 1: gotta make that bacon right though. Yep. For more Eating
