- 0:00Speaker 1: Four Finger Discounted.
- 0:18Speaker 2: It's part two of the Best Simpsons Vacation Episodes here
- 0:21Speaker 2: on the four Finger Discount network. I am Brendan Dano,
- 0:24Speaker 2: joined right now by my other bearded friend, as I
- 0:27Speaker 2: referred to him in the first episode here of the
- 0:28Speaker 2: best Vacation episodes. It is Elliot j O'Neill from The
- 0:31Speaker 2: Simpsons Index slash. What's your new shows? Call you, mister Davis,
- 0:35Speaker 2: mister j O'Neil Muscle Memory.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yes, share a lot of similarities physically with guy Davis,
- 0:42Speaker 1: but yes, a few points of differences, one of them
- 0:44Speaker 1: being that my movie podcast isn't with legendary Leonard Moulton,
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's with BT Galloway. And we are reviewing the movies
- 0:52Speaker 1: that star the cast of the Simpsons. Yes, it's starring
- 0:54Speaker 1: Springfield and yeah, it's been a wild time. I was
- 0:58Speaker 1: just trying to think, if we're done any good vacation
- 1:01Speaker 1: movies on that, I'll have to bring up the list.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Maybe you should do vacation like National Lampoons.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Is there a Simpsons cast member in there somewhere?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Man? They pop up in the weirdest of places, And
- 1:12Speaker 1: fortunately for us, our definition of starring is quite broad.
- 1:18Speaker 1: We take bit parts, uncredited cameos and all all the rest.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of Leonnon Moulton podcast movie Guy with Guy
- 1:24Speaker 2: Davis and Leonard Moulten, we just had Lee. We're now
- 1:26Speaker 2: director of Wolfman, which is now in cinema, so you
- 1:28Speaker 2: can check that out as well. Have you ever seen Saw?
- 1:32Speaker 1: Of course?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Lee is the dude in the tub Ah. He wrote Saw.
- 1:37Speaker 2: He is the writer of Saw. He created Saw, and was.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Like, I want to be in this movie, but I
- 1:43Speaker 1: want to be in a tub.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yes, I want to be in a tub with my
- 1:45Speaker 2: kidney missing. Eventually, I'd love for the Saw films. Guys,
- 1:49Speaker 2: not a huge fan. I love the Saw films. But yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 2: we had Lee whel On yesterday and yeah, I love
- 1:53Speaker 2: the guy. I love the Atattooh and his film wolf
- 1:54Speaker 2: Man is out now, but we hear they to do
- 1:56Speaker 2: part two of our Simpsons Best Vacation Episodes. We covered
- 2:00Speaker 2: numerous episodes in the last one we Come and Call
- 2:01Speaker 2: the Simpsons. We did an episode you explained to me
- 2:04Speaker 2: a totally fun thing that but will never do again.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Bart on the Road, City of New York's Homer Simpson.
- 2:10Speaker 2: We didn't do have a plus. We did how I
- 2:11Speaker 2: spent my stronger vacation and Itchy and Scratchy Land. Now
- 2:14Speaker 2: I want to start this one with a bang, right,
- 2:18Speaker 2: So let's start this one with Summer of four foot two,
- 2:21Speaker 2: which I think is probably the best Simpsons vacation episode
- 2:24Speaker 2: of all time. Would you agree?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Oh, one hundred percent. It's up there in contention with
- 2:30Speaker 1: the best Simpsons episodes. Quite frankly, there is just all
- 2:34Speaker 1: the family members are firing all cylinders. It's a rare,
- 2:37Speaker 1: leaser focused episode and it just sticks the landing in
- 2:41Speaker 1: so so many ways and does so many wonderful things
- 2:45Speaker 1: while also being extremely funny and quotable.
- 2:48Speaker 2: It has one of my favorite adult quotes that I
- 2:51Speaker 2: never realized until I was older. Yeah, Simpsons have those
- 2:53Speaker 2: gags whereas you're a kid, you don't realize what's going on,
- 2:56Speaker 2: and then you realize when you're watching it with your
- 2:58Speaker 2: kids when you don't have kids, but Mike and they go, oh,
- 3:01Speaker 2: now I know what it means. It's Marge going through
- 3:05Speaker 2: the shopping going Homer and where you have a planet tonight.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But count me out. That is an old timer. That
- 3:10Speaker 2: is an absolute all timer. I love that line. But yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you're right. I was never a huge fan of Lisa episodes.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I've never made that no secret here on the podcast.
- 3:17Speaker 2: When I was a kid, I've learned to love them.
- 3:19Speaker 2: As I get older, I realized that. I Yeah, I
- 3:21Speaker 2: think the older we get, the more we realize we
- 3:22Speaker 2: are Lisa, because Lisa was the character they used, all
- 3:24Speaker 2: the writers used to live vicariously through with their grievances
- 3:28Speaker 2: with being older. But I think when I was younger,
- 3:30Speaker 2: I thought it was this annoying, snooty she thinks she's
- 3:33Speaker 2: too good for everybody child. But this episode here, it's
- 3:36Speaker 2: a real coming of age tale, don't you think it's
- 3:39Speaker 2: really it's a Lisa discovering herself episode, but also Bart
- 3:42Speaker 2: discovering himself as well, where Bart realizes that, oh, I
- 3:46Speaker 2: may be the cool kid back home, but here I'm
- 3:49Speaker 2: just another kid and that's fine as well.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and seeing the kids evolving moreph in these ways,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and as Lisa's you know, trying on a new hat
- 3:58Speaker 1: and it's just trying to be someone who she isn't
- 4:00Speaker 1: but at the core of it, she can't deny herself
- 4:03Speaker 1: and have parts of herself coming out. And the other
- 4:06Speaker 1: kids who befriend a recognized that it's just like, yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 1: you were already already being yourself. It's just yeah, you
- 4:13Speaker 1: were wearing different clothes for once you.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Are Lisa Simpson.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, for real And yeah with the seashells on the
- 4:19Speaker 1: car at the end, such a sweet gesture that ill
- 4:25Speaker 1: thought out. But I think it's funny this one as well,
- 4:27Speaker 1: subverting the whole Bart is cool angle of it all that. Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 1: all the previous seasons and everything is just, yeah, Bart's
- 4:34Speaker 1: a cool kid. But then the show kind of having
- 4:37Speaker 1: the courage to make him look like a dweeb in
- 4:39Speaker 1: this one.
- 4:40Speaker 2: The thing is they play up here. The joke there
- 4:43Speaker 2: for me has always been that what made Bart cool
- 4:47Speaker 2: when the chauf first started isn't cool anymore. So, she
- 4:49Speaker 2: points out, So I think it's Aaron who's played by Christina?
- 4:52Speaker 2: Is it Richie or Ricky.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Richie Christina Ricchie?
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah sounds right, Casper girl, She points out, who's you
- 4:59Speaker 2: think he is? Of that sling shot in his backpocket?
- 5:00Speaker 2: Dennis the Menace? Well, the slingshot was, you know, cool.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It was like, oh, he's such a rebel, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: he's uses a slink shot at school. He's such a
- 5:07Speaker 2: such a cool kid. By season eight or seven, where
- 5:10Speaker 2: I think it might be the end of season seventies
- 5:11Speaker 2: episode that wasn't cool anymore. It was like, who is
- 5:13Speaker 2: this guy? Like he's a dorg. Time itself has evolved
- 5:16Speaker 2: past the character of Bart Simpson being cool now, and
- 5:18Speaker 2: that's what they pointed out, which, as he said, quite
- 5:21Speaker 2: a ballsy move by the show to sort of because
- 5:23Speaker 2: will they still persist with Bart being the cool kid
- 5:25Speaker 2: at school in later seasons and whatnot? But he's not
- 5:28Speaker 2: a cool kid when you really think about it. He's
- 5:29Speaker 2: cool in Springfield, but in the real world he wouldn't.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Be cool at all. No, not at all, And the
- 5:34Speaker 1: show had sort of moved the focus from him well
- 5:37Speaker 1: and truly by this point, and it was more about
- 5:40Speaker 1: the Homer Show and these sort of earnest more earnest
- 5:43Speaker 1: episodes and the least of focused ones tend to be
- 5:47Speaker 1: were a bit fewer and far between. And yeah, as
- 5:49Speaker 1: a kid, I can imagine, Yeah, there's getting in the
- 5:51Speaker 1: way of the good time, Like where's the Homer antics?
- 5:54Speaker 1: You know, where's the Bard antics? And they're still in
- 5:56Speaker 1: this episode.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But we do get antics, we do, like Homer with
- 6:00Speaker 2: the dynamite in the dish washer and whatnot. So there
- 6:02Speaker 2: is funny moments there, but it's a very centralized episode
- 6:06Speaker 2: of very centralized on Lisa.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and that one as well, coming back to that
- 6:10Speaker 1: episode years later and having it pointed out, Oh yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 1: Marge is cleaning up from the dynamite in this other scene,
- 6:15Speaker 1: but they don't pull focus on it. It's just happening
- 6:17Speaker 1: in the back there.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Ah, wonderful.
- 6:20Speaker 2: But there's so many iconic moments though, as you were
- 6:22Speaker 2: pointing out earlier, So we've got the dud is in
- 6:24Speaker 2: this one.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Oh there's an interesting starring Springfield connection. Sorry, okay. So
- 6:30Speaker 1: there's this obscure nineties movie called This Is My Life
- 6:33Speaker 1: where Julie Kavner is starring as a single mother of
- 6:36Speaker 1: two and she decides to quit her job and become
- 6:38Speaker 1: a stand up comedian and as a result, she's having
- 6:42Speaker 1: other stand as her career is taking off, she's having
- 6:45Speaker 1: other stand up comics like babysit her kids. They are
- 6:48Speaker 1: playing mystery date in one of the scenes, and in
- 6:50Speaker 1: one of the scenes, Julie Kavna's kid gets the dud Wow.
- 6:53Speaker 2: How amazing And when did that film come out?
- 6:57Speaker 1: Ninety three I think. But also one of the kids
- 7:01Speaker 1: has a Bart Simpson like basketball hoop on a door
- 7:04Speaker 1: as well. I'll just double check the date. Yeah, ninety two.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Two okay, and this would have been I think ninety
- 7:10Speaker 2: six ninety seven.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Yeah, we were wondering, was yeah Simpson's making a subtle
- 7:15Speaker 1: reference to this or was it just a board game
- 7:17Speaker 1: that was in pop culture? So of course it was
- 7:19Speaker 1: going to get referenced.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And I never played the board game Mystery Day. I've
- 7:22Speaker 2: never seen one in real life. I always thought Mystery
- 7:25Speaker 2: Date was just a TV show, you know, the Blind
- 7:27Speaker 2: Date shows. I never knew you could actually get a
- 7:28Speaker 2: board game Mystery Date. I thought this was something I
- 7:31Speaker 2: still did this day. I didn't realize it was a
- 7:32Speaker 2: real thing. I thought it was something that Simpsons just
- 7:33Speaker 2: made up. I didn't realize it was a real game.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Is there actually a board game called Mystery Date?
- 7:37Speaker 1: I assume so. Well, they had a physical board game
- 7:39Speaker 1: in the movie, so I can only say this is like.
- 7:42Speaker 2: A weird game to play with kids, Mystery Date.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, it comes along with a lot of
- 7:48Speaker 1: these things that we didn't have in Australia that it
- 7:51Speaker 1: seemed so whole. What as America got over there, They've
- 7:54Speaker 1: got so many things that we don't have.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, it was always subway sandwiches whenever watch
- 7:59Speaker 2: because we never had sub here and gil apparently it
- 8:00Speaker 2: was in Australia, but we never had it in Geelong
- 8:02Speaker 2: anyway till a lot later. But I always went, what
- 8:05Speaker 2: the hell is subway?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah? Now, there was one in Paramatta for years and
- 8:10Speaker 1: it was like the only one as like a suburb
- 8:13Speaker 1: in like western Sydney. And they used to cut the
- 8:16Speaker 1: bread with like a v a notch out of the
- 8:19Speaker 1: top of the bread rather than you know, slicing it
- 8:21Speaker 1: in half. It was a much better presentation and they
- 8:24Speaker 1: weren't as stingy with the meats as they are now.
- 8:27Speaker 2: How stingy are they with the meat now?
- 8:29Speaker 1: They used to have my favorite sandwich, the sub Club,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and they've gotten bred of it. It was roast beef,
- 8:33Speaker 1: turkey and ham and it was the most beautiful combination.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Bring back the subclub, bring back the V notch out
- 8:39Speaker 1: of the bread. It was probably a pain in the
- 8:41Speaker 1: ass for the sandwich artists to make, but hey, you
- 8:43Speaker 1: call yourself a sandwich artist.
- 8:45Speaker 2: My life hack for subway sandwiches is I always order
- 8:48Speaker 2: a chicken meal, a chicken sandwich, but I always make
- 8:52Speaker 2: sure I order it. I look at the I like
- 8:53Speaker 2: chicken strips or chicken terry ARCHI right, but sometimes they
- 8:56Speaker 2: have it portioned right, the chicken strips in little packets.
- 8:59Speaker 2: The chicken terry they tend to have in a big tub. Right,
- 9:02Speaker 2: they scoop it out. What you do is you walk
- 9:04Speaker 2: up to your sandwich artist and you'd be really polite,
- 9:06Speaker 2: maybe even compliment them, be really friendly with them. Then
- 9:09Speaker 2: ask for a chicken tariaky sandwich, and I'll always give
- 9:13Speaker 2: you a bigger scoop than a sanded scoop. Just be polite,
- 9:15Speaker 2: be polite to you, treat your sandwich artist with respect,
- 9:18Speaker 2: and they will respect you with extra meat.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's it. They will give you that. They will bring
- 9:23Speaker 1: you the high quality.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Art exactly right. So yeah, A twenty two short twenty
- 9:27Speaker 2: short films summerre of four foot two. I've I think
- 9:29Speaker 2: I'm saying, twenty short films at Springfields, some are four
- 9:31Speaker 2: foot two. Yeah. Just an incredible episode, one that I
- 9:33Speaker 2: never really appreciated enough until I was older. But as
- 9:36Speaker 2: so other iconic moments, iconic quote from me, this is
- 9:41Speaker 2: one of my favorite bart Millhouse interactions. Bart is horrible here,
- 9:45Speaker 2: but he's being horrible because he's just so embarrassed, doesn't
- 9:48Speaker 2: know how to handle this new found, oh I'm not
- 9:50Speaker 2: cool situation. So when Millhouse is are we in, it
- 9:54Speaker 2: says no, they must have seen you. Millhouse is a
- 9:58Speaker 2: little I'm a I've always loved that interaction, as horrible
- 10:02Speaker 2: as it is. But yeah, so many What are some
- 10:05Speaker 2: of the moments that stand out for you from this
- 10:06Speaker 2: Folkes of me, it's the Marge line, and it's the
- 10:09Speaker 2: it's Bart there as well.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yeah, well, just bark his dirty tactics to try and
- 10:14Speaker 1: get on side because he's still so sure that he
- 10:17Speaker 1: can win these kids over. I think it's less of
- 10:19Speaker 1: a well, it is quite a selfish thing. Oh yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 1: it's a from a deep insecure place as well, and
- 10:27Speaker 1: that you know he resorts to bullying at the end
- 10:30Speaker 1: and to go, oh, Lisa's actually a nerd look at
- 10:33Speaker 1: this and shows the retrospectacus again all time a joke,
- 10:36Speaker 1: which is such a simpler thing when they're opening the
- 10:39Speaker 1: books in the first one slash just wonderful little joke.
- 10:42Speaker 2: A little in joke.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but the way that turns on Bart and
- 10:48Speaker 1: then he does end up feeling guilty about that. I
- 10:50Speaker 1: think the episode just does such a nice job and
- 10:53Speaker 1: like especially when Lisa lays it out for him and
- 10:56Speaker 1: grabs his coloring a mean little sneak. That is just
- 11:00Speaker 1: such an excellent line read by Yardley Smith. There and
- 11:03Speaker 1: then when Marge comes in the room quickly snaps back
- 11:06Speaker 1: into place, and that the revealed that Milhouse was there
- 11:09Speaker 1: the whole time. Whole time. Oh bye, I Cantival so good.
- 11:14Speaker 2: He's just so unimportant that they don't even care. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:20Speaker 2: that episode is just fantastical. Let's move on now to
- 11:24Speaker 2: one and a later season one that I still haven't watched.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I haven't had time to watch all all these ones.
- 11:28Speaker 2: But the saga of Carl now is this way Karl
- 11:31Speaker 2: meets his parents.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Oh gosh, this has been a while since I've watched
- 11:36Speaker 1: this one. I debated putting it on my list because, like,
- 11:39Speaker 1: I don't know if it's quite a vacation episode. But
- 11:42Speaker 1: I mean, the Homer goes to Iceland, that's.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, he finds out his Iceland heritage. So basically,
- 11:48Speaker 2: this is the brief synopsis own Google. It says friendships
- 11:51Speaker 2: are tested when Carl skips down with two hundred thousand
- 11:54Speaker 2: dollars winning from a lottery ticket he bought with Homer, Moe,
- 11:57Speaker 2: and Lenny. I do remember watching this one and it
- 12:00Speaker 2: annoyed me because it retconned his heritage.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I remember.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I can't remember why it didn't make sense, but I
- 12:07Speaker 2: remember it not making sense.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bit loosey goosey with the story, but
- 12:12Speaker 1: it also does something interesting in the Yeah, Carl makes
- 12:15Speaker 1: off with the money and then he just does a runner. Yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 1: it just does a runner, but also like plays down
- 12:22Speaker 1: the friendship between him and the other ba flies and
- 12:25Speaker 1: also that it kind of doesn't make sense because like
- 12:27Speaker 1: he's also co workers with Homer and Lenny, but he
- 12:29Speaker 1: diminishes their friendship and it's so heartbreaking. But one of them,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's Lenny, just like he's still our Carl.
- 12:36Speaker 1: They fight for him and it ends up really sticking
- 12:39Speaker 1: the landing that episode, I thought, even though it took
- 12:41Speaker 1: a bit of a bumpy road to get in there.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But I think it features Sigur Ross as well, so
- 12:46Speaker 1: that's wonderful to see.
- 12:47Speaker 2: One a classic I threw on my list as well
- 12:50Speaker 2: because Marge is the one taking a vacation here much
- 12:52Speaker 2: deserved vacation Homer alone, another episode much like Summer of
- 12:58Speaker 2: four foot two, an episode that I didn't appreciate until
- 13:01Speaker 2: I was much older, maybe because Nikola has taken a
- 13:06Speaker 2: couple of business ships for work in the last couple
- 13:08Speaker 2: of years, and I've now found myself going, oh, I'm
- 13:11Speaker 2: home here. But my favorite, I think my favorite line
- 13:15Speaker 2: the whole one, whole episode, not my favorite one always
- 13:18Speaker 2: stands out to me is you know and related to
- 13:22Speaker 2: me because Marge's leaving much like Nikola. She's like, don't worry,
- 13:25Speaker 2: I've got this plan and she explains it, make sure
- 13:27Speaker 2: you do this, makes you do that, And I'm like,
- 13:28Speaker 2: don't worry, I've got to run it hom agoing Cat
- 13:30Speaker 2: in the furnace.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 2: We like to think that we've got this. I had
- 13:37Speaker 2: it all under control. But it's just home mo. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 2: sure you cat in the furnace so good.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah. It is a great way to just like reassure
- 13:45Speaker 1: that everything's going to be okay with something very unreassure.
- 13:48Speaker 1: It's yeah, a quote that posits in my mind as well.
- 13:51Speaker 2: But it's just such a great story as well, great
- 13:53Speaker 2: setup in that, and it doesn't have to necessarily be
- 13:56Speaker 2: a wife. Now it could be just a parent. Parenthood
- 13:58Speaker 2: is hard and a lot of little stresses that all
- 14:01Speaker 2: build up. So you know, they they want their sandwiches
- 14:04Speaker 2: made a certain way for school, and you know, got
- 14:06Speaker 2: to pick up their shoes after when they walk in
- 14:08Speaker 2: the house. You're gonna vacuum every day. All these grievances
- 14:10Speaker 2: that aren't big deals, but when you get a whole
- 14:13Speaker 2: bunch of them bottled up inside, it can just come
- 14:16Speaker 2: out and explode. And Marge likes to think herself as
- 14:17Speaker 2: a strong woman, which she is. She can get through
- 14:20Speaker 2: these things, but sometimes it just all comes out. We've
- 14:22Speaker 2: all had a moment our life where we're just gone.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I just need to vent. I don't necessarily mean half
- 14:27Speaker 2: the shit that I'm venting about, but I need to
- 14:29Speaker 2: get this out of my system. Can you just I
- 14:31Speaker 2: don't want to hear a response. I just want you
- 14:33Speaker 2: to sit there and listen to me vent out here
- 14:35Speaker 2: and Marge in the car, which she's just sitting there.
- 14:37Speaker 2: She doesn't really really know why, but I love the
- 14:39Speaker 2: guy walks up to the mirror, look leader, this better
- 14:41Speaker 2: be good.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And then just her raw like I am a fan
- 14:46Speaker 1: of death, metal view death metal music, and she could
- 14:50Speaker 1: give some of those vocalis a run for their money
- 14:52Speaker 1: in that moment, and that is just brilliantly animated as well,
- 14:55Speaker 1: the little flex of spit hitting the window and that
- 14:57Speaker 1: just going oh yeah, I mean he recognized that. Oh yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: she's having a bad day. She's been asked to do
- 15:03Speaker 1: a million things and none of them are going right.
- 15:05Speaker 1: It's just yeah, she's having a bad day, and she
- 15:08Speaker 1: justified when she snapped.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So this is where she goes to Rancho Relaxo and
- 15:12Speaker 2: we get a great Phil Heartman appearance here as Troum McClure.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Oh Gregory is it Gregory? Yeah? On my life, Yes,
- 15:21Speaker 2: Rancho Relaxo. I think we've we all need a week
- 15:24Speaker 2: and a way Rancho Relaxo. It just seems like a
- 15:26Speaker 2: great place. I've always particularly loved the animation of when
- 15:30Speaker 2: Marge is in the bath and she just sort of
- 15:31Speaker 2: sinks into the water and comes back out and her
- 15:33Speaker 2: hair is gone down. I feel like it just can't
- 15:35Speaker 2: help but just feel relaxed watching that. It's so satisfying,
- 15:40Speaker 2: like she just looks so chilled, and it's just nice
- 15:42Speaker 2: seeing Marge a character who gets not using abuse, but
- 15:45Speaker 2: taking for granted a lot Marge. Just to seeing her
- 15:49Speaker 2: relaxed and just not a care in the world. It's lovely.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, it's an interesting thing as well that she's
- 15:55Speaker 1: mostly following the suggestions of the Phil Hartman Hotel pre
- 16:00Speaker 1: organized plans that you can take advantage of when you're
- 16:02Speaker 1: at the resort. And then he's just like, do what
- 16:06Speaker 1: you want to do at the end, and that she does.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And she knows exactly what she wants. She wants the
- 16:10Speaker 1: hot fudge Sunday, a bottle of tequila and Thelma and
- 16:13Speaker 1: Louise and a bath. And it's wonderful, yeah, because she
- 16:17Speaker 1: knows what she wants. But she always feels guilty. She
- 16:19Speaker 1: feels guilty looking after herself as I've gonn look after
- 16:22Speaker 1: everybody else. Marge reminds me, I'm sure reminds me of
- 16:25Speaker 1: a lot of people, but she reminds me of my mum.
- 16:27Speaker 1: My Mum is one of those people who is just
- 16:29Speaker 1: always thinking about everybody else but themselves. When we're having
- 16:32Speaker 1: dinner with the family, she's always still in the kitchen
- 16:34Speaker 1: getting things and like, Mom, sit down and peak, I'll
- 16:36Speaker 1: be there in a minute. I think Mom enjoys doing it.
- 16:39Speaker 1: But my mum is very much Marge in the sense
- 16:41Speaker 1: that she feels guilty if she ever buys.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Something for a self or does something for herself. And
- 16:45Speaker 2: it's just you sort of say to it, Mum, treat
- 16:47Speaker 2: yourself to something. It's okay. But Marge is very much
- 16:50Speaker 2: like that. And here that's where she goes. When Tron
- 16:51Speaker 2: mccluire says treat yourself, she goes, you know what, I'm
- 16:55Speaker 2: gunna exactly what I want and no one's gonna stop me.
- 16:57Speaker 2: And it's just actually said it's a great moment, yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And really selling the metaphor there when she sinks into
- 17:02Speaker 1: the bath and her hair actually gets let down.
- 17:05Speaker 2: She's been I haven't even I didn't even put that together.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I just love the visual of it. But you're right,
- 17:10Speaker 2: she's letting her hair down. Yeah, it's great.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, I mean because yeah, she's obviously had fun
- 17:14Speaker 1: doing all the hall of skirt making and cigar making
- 17:17Speaker 1: and just all the other things they had to offer.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But yeah, that moment was so nice in direct contrast
- 17:23Speaker 1: to the horrible time that Homers losing Maggie.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Maggie, she ends up going looking for Marge because that's
- 17:29Speaker 2: actually a nice Maggie stories well, because we realized Maggie
- 17:32Speaker 2: has a connection with Marge, just one of the sort
- 17:34Speaker 2: of the unbreakable connections that the between two characters that
- 17:37Speaker 2: the show has. But I love when she's driving the
- 17:39Speaker 2: car and she gives the guy there. Yeah, and at
- 17:44Speaker 2: the end when Wiggan returns the baby, I mean, let's
- 17:47Speaker 2: be honest, in the real world, horrifying home is a
- 17:49Speaker 2: terrible parent. He should have been looking after the baby.
- 17:51Speaker 2: The fact that the baby could get out and do
- 17:52Speaker 2: this terrible. But when he just he's just so thankful
- 17:56Speaker 2: that you return the baby. Wigan even just went just
- 18:00Speaker 2: don't do it again.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Again, much like the guy at the beginning is like, ah,
- 18:04Speaker 1: you've had a bad day.
- 18:05Speaker 2: It's yeah, okay, come on, next one here, let's go
- 18:08Speaker 2: for another newer one. Dude, Where's My Ratch? We've reviewed
- 18:11Speaker 2: this one as well. What was it about, dude, Wear's
- 18:13Speaker 2: my rash? That you particularly enjoyed.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I don't know if this is an episode that a
- 18:18Speaker 1: lot of people love, but for me personally, this is
- 18:21Speaker 1: just one that I one of the early teens episodes
- 18:25Speaker 1: that I still happen to record on a VHS because
- 18:28Speaker 1: I was still doing that in the year two thousand
- 18:31Speaker 1: and two or something when this came out.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Recording episodes up until season seventeen I've worked out, or
- 18:37Speaker 2: maybe the season eighteen Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Wow, yeah, because I do remember the last episode I
- 18:41Speaker 1: recorded on VHS was Smart and Smarter from season fifteen,
- 18:45Speaker 1: the Maggie Smart episode. Yeah, but yeah, this one. So
- 18:49Speaker 1: this was one that I ended up watching a lot.
- 18:51Speaker 1: And it's a very goofy episode. It's got that first act,
- 18:55Speaker 1: fuck you, which makes it also a Christmas episode technically,
- 18:58Speaker 1: but the focus is more on the family going to
- 19:01Speaker 1: a dude ranch for the week, and Lisa's got this
- 19:04Speaker 1: crush on this teenage boy, and Homer and Bart are
- 19:07Speaker 1: fighting beavers and everyone's got kind of their own little adventure,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and in that way, it's just a very goofy, almost
- 19:16Speaker 1: like sketch humor based episode. But I do have a
- 19:20Speaker 1: terrible amount of fun with it, and it does have
- 19:23Speaker 1: plot points where it needs to in terms of the
- 19:26Speaker 1: fascical misunderstanding of Lisa thinks her CRUSH's girlfriend is coming
- 19:31Speaker 1: into town turns out to be her sister, and sister
- 19:34Speaker 1: yeah yeah, accidentally puts her in the rock on the
- 19:38Speaker 1: middle of a rapid lake and all that sort of stuff.
- 19:40Speaker 1: But it's just a goofy little adventure and yeah, I
- 19:43Speaker 1: have a lot of fun with this one.
- 19:45Speaker 2: This is the one that has David Burn and Talking
- 19:47Speaker 2: Head singing the song about Flanners at Homerkret.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Actually I was rewatching and I was just saying
- 19:52Speaker 1: to my girlfriend, like, it's one of these things where
- 19:54Speaker 1: as a kid it bothered me. But then I realized later, Oh,
- 19:57Speaker 1: that's the joke is that during that Flanders song, they
- 20:00Speaker 1: I have spelled Flanders right once and they spell it
- 20:03Speaker 1: different every time. That okay, Yeah, one of them's f
- 20:07Speaker 1: l A and rds, which would make it Flanner does.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah, as long as the syllables fit the song though
- 20:14Speaker 2: what they were seeing at that point in time.
- 20:15Speaker 1: That's it. And like there's even one way they get
- 20:18Speaker 1: a crowdcham going fl ad r and you wrote you
- 20:21Speaker 1: wrote Flater pick up on That.

- 20:54Speaker 2: and I want to hear your thoughts because you've reviewed
- 20:56Speaker 2: all these episodes of teen seasons, right, there seems to
- 20:59Speaker 2: be a point in time in the last maybe two
- 21:01Speaker 2: or three season. We're season twenty now, just started season twenty,
- 21:05Speaker 2: but I feel like, remember about season seventeen eighteen ish,
- 21:10Speaker 2: They've written Lisa differently. Lisa feels like she is more
- 21:13Speaker 2: inclined to do horrible things for selfish reasons than she
- 21:17Speaker 2: used to. She had moments in the past, but for
- 21:21Speaker 2: the most part, she was always the one saying, you
- 21:23Speaker 2: can't be doing this, it's not the right thing to do.
- 21:25Speaker 2: But you know, she had the Lisa's rival where she
- 21:29Speaker 2: changes the telltale heart, that kind of thing, right, So
- 21:33Speaker 2: she has those moments here, but she it's more Bart
- 21:36Speaker 2: sort of saying no, this is what you need to do,
- 21:38Speaker 2: and She's like, oh yeah, okay. She surely goes along
- 21:40Speaker 2: with Bart's scheme in those days where now it feels
- 21:43Speaker 2: like she's just doing stuff because she has selfish reasons.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I'm not sure whether that's the direction of the character
- 21:48Speaker 2: that I liked, because there was an episode we just
- 21:49Speaker 2: did recently where Marge's mother came in. It's the one
- 21:52Speaker 2: where she passes away, Yeah, and Lisa stole jewels off
- 21:56Speaker 2: her necklace, off her bedside table and stuff, and I'm thinking, Lisa,
- 22:00Speaker 2: isn't this character. It just seems weird how the Lisa
- 22:02Speaker 2: character has shifted to be more selfish just for pure
- 22:05Speaker 2: selfish reasons.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Now, yeah, it's really against the archetype, isn't it. I
- 22:09Speaker 1: think they get away in this one here because she's
- 22:12Speaker 1: just a bit love stupid. But it's then other episodes
- 22:16Speaker 1: like Little Big Mum where she pretends that her family
- 22:19Speaker 1: is from a Native American tribe, and it's just that
- 22:22Speaker 1: one's a big whipp for me because it just doesn't
- 22:24Speaker 1: feel on on brand for Lisa. In the slight stat
- 22:27Speaker 1: is that a little is.
- 22:28Speaker 2: He shows a little Big Mother, Little Big Mom's on
- 22:30Speaker 2: where where Marge breaks her legs, isn't isn't it?
- 22:33Speaker 1: Oh, maybe a little Big Girl or something. I don't
- 22:35Speaker 1: know the one you.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Mean where she but yeah, she can flat out just
- 22:38Speaker 2: lies and pretends that she's Native American. And I remember
- 22:40Speaker 2: guy and I going, what the hell? Yeah, this is
- 22:43Speaker 2: not what Lisa would do. Oh yeah, it is called
- 22:46Speaker 2: Little Big Girl.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Sorry. Yeah, yeah, there's so many episodes with so many
- 22:50Speaker 1: similar titles. You know, you're talking about Mona Simpson before
- 22:53Speaker 1: the amount of Mona Lisa puns in a Simpsons title,
- 22:56Speaker 1: And yeah, pretty ridiculous at the moment, but yeah, a
- 22:59Speaker 1: little big And that's also the one where Bart starts
- 23:02Speaker 1: dating a pregnant girl.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Oh yes, that's right. Yeah, man, the Simpson's got wacky.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It still has one of my favorite jokes in it
- 23:12Speaker 1: from that one. That is still one that I quote
- 23:14Speaker 1: to this day, despite an episode being one that I
- 23:16Speaker 1: don't want to return to. Because Bart gets his driver's license,
- 23:20Speaker 1: then almost a throwback to Bart on the road and
- 23:22Speaker 1: Lisa's criticizing his driving. Your hands are meant to be
- 23:24Speaker 1: at ten and two not four and nothing.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yes that I do remember that. It's a great line. Yeah,
- 23:30Speaker 2: because that's how I drive. And yeah, I often think
- 23:32Speaker 2: of it. Let's get into one that's more from the
- 23:36Speaker 2: Golden era. It is one that I was tossed up
- 23:41Speaker 2: whether put it on the list or not. We've gone
- 23:42Speaker 2: with it because hey, why not. It's a great episode
- 23:44Speaker 2: of like talking about it. It's not necessarily a vacation
- 23:46Speaker 2: it's more a Homer gets a job episode. It's Homo polooser. Yes, yeah,
- 23:51Speaker 2: there's not really a vacation here. Homi goes on a
- 23:53Speaker 2: road trip with the groupies because he gets a new job.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Would call it a vacation, but again, Homer Poalooser one
- 23:58Speaker 2: of the better guests episodes of all time. I sort
- 24:01Speaker 2: of put it on there with you know, Homer at
- 24:04Speaker 2: the Bat where they get a whole bunch of baseball players.
- 24:07Speaker 2: This one he wlod bunch of musicians. We talked about
- 24:09Speaker 2: in part one of this of this podcast, how I
- 24:11Speaker 2: spent much strong a vacation, A whole bunch of rock
- 24:13Speaker 2: stars from that year all at the camp together. So
- 24:15Speaker 2: I feel like you're gonna get a whole bunch of musicians.
- 24:18Speaker 2: This was a really good way to handle it. Yeah,
- 24:21Speaker 2: one hundred percent. And you know, one of I'm sure
- 24:24Speaker 2: your favorite musicians are at least wrestling promoters in Billy
- 24:26Speaker 2: Corgan in this episode, delivering one of the all time lines. Yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 2: Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins, Homer Simpson, smiling, polite, Well, let's
- 24:33Speaker 2: be honest, Dan delivered the singer.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, that's right. Billy Corgan was just there. Yes,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and he still gets it to this day as well.
- 24:41Speaker 1: A little part of me likes to think that that
- 24:43Speaker 1: there was just improved by Dan. He's a brilliant improv artist.
- 24:50Speaker 1: But yeah, I reckon it fits though, because you know,
- 24:54Speaker 1: it's the summer festival, and yeah, it brings me back
- 24:57Speaker 1: to going to the big day outs and sound waves
- 24:59Speaker 1: and hope fully more good things festivals are happening in
- 25:02Speaker 1: the future. I had fun at the recent one of those.
- 25:04Speaker 1: But yeah, and it's just such a fun lineup of
- 25:08Speaker 1: bands as well. And in Yes, Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill
- 25:12Speaker 1: and Sonic Youth and Peter Frampton. This one actually just
- 25:16Speaker 1: became like a listening list for me because I think
- 25:19Speaker 1: I knew half of them but not the other half.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Certainly didn't know Sonic Youth at the time. And then yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 1: their wild version of the Simpsons theme to take out
- 25:27Speaker 1: the takeout the episode is just yeah, what a great band.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I think I'm a pal loser as one of the
- 25:34Speaker 2: perfect episodes to help you realize that you're older because
- 25:40Speaker 2: you watch it now, and some one of those ones
- 25:42Speaker 2: where you realize, Oh, when I watched this for the
- 25:44Speaker 2: first time, I were the kids making fun of my dad.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I am now the dad. Yeah, even though you're not
- 25:49Speaker 2: a father, you are still in homer shoes, going Hey,
- 25:52Speaker 2: what do you mean all these shows, all these songs
- 25:54Speaker 2: and musicians that are liked in oldies. What do you mean, Oh,
- 25:57Speaker 2: it's twenty five years ago? Oh?
- 26:00Speaker 1: Oh shit, No, I mean I felt that at the
- 26:03Speaker 1: festival where I'm like, why isn't there enough places to sit?
- 26:06Speaker 1: Why aren't there enough shady areas? Why aren't they playing
- 26:09Speaker 1: more of the bands that I liked from twenty five
- 26:11Speaker 1: years ago?
- 26:12Speaker 2: I met, I met. I met a twenty three year
- 26:15Speaker 2: old yesterday who had never watched The Simpsons.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Wow, she just went she has arms, never really washed them,
- 26:20Speaker 2: but it was always on TV. She goes, was it
- 26:22Speaker 2: I'm thinking, Ah, by the time you were old enough
- 26:26Speaker 2: to sort of start watching TV would been six twenty
- 26:28Speaker 2: nine ten YouTube streaming. Oh shit, Oh no.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I mean, wasn't it great that, even though we grew
- 26:36Speaker 1: up with such limited options that we still had the Simpsons. Objectively,
- 26:40Speaker 1: I think one of the greatest jos of all time.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I I feel like we're the last generation to have
- 26:44Speaker 2: attention spands as well.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah, my riddle and prescription would say otherwise.
- 26:53Speaker 2: But just I've always this is just me going full
- 26:56Speaker 2: home and home for loser. Can we do away with
- 26:58Speaker 2: the skip the credits, right, Yeah, especially if it's a
- 27:01Speaker 2: show that has like a ten second intro, because they
- 27:03Speaker 2: don't even make intros anymore because they show just go
- 27:06Speaker 2: what's the point of making an intro? Everyone just skips
- 27:08Speaker 2: it anyway, right? But I feel for me, I've always
- 27:10Speaker 2: said on the podcast, the intro is what gets you
- 27:13Speaker 2: into gets you into the mindset of the show. How
- 27:15Speaker 2: many shows do you remember from you when you were
- 27:16Speaker 2: a kid? I love that show. You actually remember anything
- 27:19Speaker 2: abut the show? You just remember the theme song. It's
- 27:22Speaker 2: the theme song. You know. There's so good theme songs
- 27:24Speaker 2: anymore because I don't fucking make them because we have
- 27:26Speaker 2: skip credits. Now do away the skip credits and bring
- 27:28Speaker 2: back theme songs, I say, yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 1: The one that bugs me the most is the end
- 27:33Speaker 1: credits minimization, and I wish that was just a setting
- 27:37Speaker 1: I could change, because the worst one is Bob's Burgers
- 27:40Speaker 1: because they're so good with having guest stars, and the
- 27:43Speaker 1: second that gets to the part of the credit screen
- 27:46Speaker 1: that has the guest stars, they shrink it. And also
- 27:48Speaker 1: Bob's Burgers put in effort in the credits as well
- 27:50Speaker 1: and generally come up with this original song for it,
- 27:53Speaker 1: and they've got like, yeah, cute little animation things, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: then it just minimizes it to say next episode, and
- 27:59Speaker 1: it's like, no, just I'll get there, trust me.
- 28:03Speaker 2: The best example of that fucking something up I've seen
- 28:06Speaker 2: was the end of Psycho, where it's just him staring
- 28:10Speaker 2: at the camera, right, and it's so unsettling because he's
- 28:12Speaker 2: staring at the camera. You're like, oh, this guy's crazy, right,
- 28:15Speaker 2: But no, it minimizes so he's just in the bottom
- 28:18Speaker 2: left corner and it's like showing you what else is
- 28:20Speaker 2: on Netflix or whatever, and you go, you've just ruined
- 28:22Speaker 2: the fucking alf for Hitchco movie.
- 28:24Speaker 1: What are you doing. I'm not finished this candy bar yet.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I will open another one when I'm ready.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Yes, exactly right, Yeah, and yeah.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And I like to sit in credits as well, just
- 28:34Speaker 1: for a little while, like I'm not actually going, oh,
- 28:37Speaker 1: they were the grip on this movie, you know, But
- 28:39Speaker 1: I do like to sit with the final score that
- 28:41Speaker 1: they're putting out and just sort of use that as
- 28:43Speaker 1: my moment to reflect in the thing I just watched
- 28:45Speaker 1: in the credits and yeah, maybe catch a couple of
- 28:48Speaker 1: names here and there. Yeah, it's it's annoying. It should
- 28:53Speaker 1: just be a setting.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Because all I was saying, I want to get into
- 28:57Speaker 2: an episode that I still have not seen. You obviously
- 29:00Speaker 2: you have, You've included in the list I wanted to include.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I thought you were writing this first, but it's not
- 29:05Speaker 2: at all. So I want to include Viva ned Flanders
- 29:08Speaker 2: because it's kind of like a similar to mar Coming
- 29:11Speaker 2: and get Away to mention Blax. So Homer takes Lenard
- 29:14Speaker 2: to takes Flanders to Las Vegas. But this one here
- 29:18Speaker 2: you've got is living Lapura Vida. Yeah, what is this episode?
- 29:22Speaker 2: All right?
- 29:23Speaker 1: So this is the Simpsons go to Costa Rica. So
- 29:26Speaker 1: Kirk van the van Houghton's rather have a regular group
- 29:32Speaker 1: getaway to Costa Rica, and they it's like an exclusive
- 29:36Speaker 1: little club like they regularly invite the Hibberts and Chalmers
- 29:41Speaker 1: and his daughter Shana are on this holiday as well,
- 29:44Speaker 1: and yeah, the Simpsons managed to secure and invite this year,
- 29:48Speaker 1: and it becomes like this sort of little mystery of
- 29:52Speaker 1: how the everyone's able to afford this sort of thing,
- 29:56Speaker 1: and like there's this interesting thing where like Lisa learns earlier, oh,
- 30:00Speaker 1: marg and Homer are really going to have to struggle
- 30:02Speaker 1: to pay for this one, and then she gets anxiety
- 30:06Speaker 1: the whole time about spending too much money. And Kirk's
- 30:09Speaker 1: doing this thing because he's leading the group vacation. He's
- 30:13Speaker 1: just like, we'll just put it on the bill and
- 30:15Speaker 1: you know, I'll fix it up now, but everyone you
- 30:18Speaker 1: know will fix it up, fix me up at the end,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and Lisa's just got this anxiety and it's like, how's
- 30:23Speaker 1: anyone relaxing right now? And meanwhile, Patty and her new
- 30:27Speaker 1: girlfriend Evelyn also got invited on this trip, and it
- 30:31Speaker 1: turns out Evelyn and Homer are just two peas in
- 30:34Speaker 1: a pod. She's this Southern fried girl that loves beer
- 30:39Speaker 1: and the sport of corn holing much like Homer does.
- 30:42Speaker 1: As we know, it's one of his passions that so
- 30:45Speaker 1: the episode says anyway, but yeah, they bond and they
- 30:49Speaker 1: be badag shit on. Just to clarify for anyone who
- 30:54Speaker 1: doesn't know. It's like you throw a bean bag in
- 30:56Speaker 1: like this little box thing. It's an actual sport. Go
- 30:59Speaker 1: look it up.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Is that the one has the holes?
- 31:01Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's one. Maybe it's multiple,
- 31:03Speaker 1: but like.
- 31:04Speaker 2: You know, the bean bag toss, but sort of on
- 31:06Speaker 2: a slam. You gotta yes, yeah, is that it?
- 31:08Speaker 1: Yeah? That's cornhole.
- 31:09Speaker 2: My son Elliott, same name, obviously, Elliott loves it. Absolutely
- 31:13Speaker 2: loves that game. Loves it.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Oh there you go. He's a little sportsman as well,
- 31:17Speaker 1: isn't he cricket?
- 31:18Speaker 2: Football, you name? He just plays it. It's one of
- 31:20Speaker 2: those kids that just watches something on TV and goes,
- 31:23Speaker 2: ye're up, let's say you do it. Okay, let's good,
- 31:24Speaker 2: let's just go do it then. Yeah, right, because I
- 31:28Speaker 2: picked him up for you as he goes to holiday
- 31:29Speaker 2: program Elliott over the school holidays on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I picked him up yesterday and the guy's playing cricket
- 31:36Speaker 2: like this. This is the he's about twenty five. The
- 31:38Speaker 2: guy is there like one of the instructors or whatever
- 31:40Speaker 2: that helps me over the holiday program at school, and
- 31:42Speaker 2: he goes I usually have to underarm the balls to
- 31:45Speaker 2: these kids because they can't like swing the bat. And
- 31:48Speaker 2: Elliott said to me, bowld pace and I sort of
- 31:50Speaker 2: like laughed myself and went, okay, sure, mate, whatever, Yeah, sure,
- 31:53Speaker 2: And I bowled it to him and he has no
- 31:55Speaker 2: pace and then so I bowled it as hard as
- 31:57Speaker 2: I could and he smacked me for it. And I
- 31:59Speaker 2: was like, kid's six. He goes, does he play cricket?
- 32:02Speaker 2: And I was like, no, he just plays in the backyard.
- 32:03Speaker 2: He's like, I've never seen anything like it.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Unreal.
- 32:07Speaker 2: He goes, and then he's and then he asked me
- 32:08Speaker 2: if he can bol pace to me, and he bowl
- 32:10Speaker 2: paced and got me out. He goes. I couldn't believe
- 32:13Speaker 2: he got hees. I'm twenty five, he's six, and he
- 32:15Speaker 2: genuinely got me out.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Already having that moment. Ever, my son has already gotten
- 32:21Speaker 1: me out. He's like, you're in charge of the family now, dude. Mate.
- 32:24Speaker 2: When Elliott bowls me out in the backyard after I'm
- 32:26Speaker 2: genuinely trying to smack him for a six, it's an
- 32:29Speaker 2: unsettling moment.
- 32:34Speaker 1: But yeah, this one, well, oh yeah, So Homer and
- 32:37Speaker 1: Patty's new girlfriend Evelyn are.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Just played by Assaysio Wikipedia Fortune five stuffing stuff yeah, yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 2: the comedian.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, she's doing an unreal job as well.
- 32:47Speaker 1: She's just yeah real, yeah, Southern American girl who's very folks.
- 32:52Speaker 1: He got lots of quote for everything. And Home is
- 32:55Speaker 1: just totally charmed by her, and just not in a
- 32:58Speaker 1: like Romani roy Oil. It's just he's found a new
- 33:01Speaker 1: best friend and they're getting on so well. And then
- 33:03Speaker 1: it becomes a thing of Patty and Marge being like,
- 33:06Speaker 1: your partner's a bad influence on my partner, No, yours is,
- 33:10Speaker 1: and also Marge like it's another weird plot point to
- 33:14Speaker 1: see the Simpsons doing. But Marge wants to get the
- 33:17Speaker 1: perfect Instagram photo to show off because normally her feet
- 33:20Speaker 1: is just you know her, here's the housework I did,
- 33:23Speaker 1: and she wants, you know, she wants the nice gram
- 33:25Speaker 1: photo of her and Homer in front of the waterfall.
- 33:27Speaker 1: And yeah, Evelyn just keeps fucking it up and it's
- 33:31Speaker 1: just got It's one of these ensemble episodes that I
- 33:34Speaker 1: love what the Simpsons do in the new era, where
- 33:36Speaker 1: they're trying different character combinations, you know, bringing in Superintendent
- 33:40Speaker 1: Charmers and Shawna into the fold as well, and Millhouse
- 33:45Speaker 1: is here, but he's not attached to Bart. He's trying
- 33:48Speaker 1: to impress one of doctor Hibbitt's kids and being a
- 33:51Speaker 1: really annoying, yappy little kids. Are you impressed at this?
- 33:54Speaker 1: I deal like Lego still, what's your favorite college act?
- 33:57Speaker 1: You know, just being a really annoying little kid. Well,
- 34:00Speaker 1: Bart and Lister, Yeah, trying to solve the mystery of
- 34:03Speaker 1: how the hell Kirk and Luanne managed to get this
- 34:06Speaker 1: place and pay for this trip.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to episode out.
- 34:09Speaker 1: You've sold me on it. Yeah. This was, yeah, an
- 34:12Speaker 1: absolute wonderful one. And yeah we reviewed it on our
- 34:14Speaker 1: podcast with the Real Gym's who's just an absolute treasure. Yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 1: I love that guy.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he came on, we did. She's Cratchy and Puccy.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I believe him and I did. Yes, another old timer. Yes,
- 34:25Speaker 2: I did see a clip that Simpsons shared. I'm assuming
- 34:28Speaker 2: it's this week's episode. Maybe I was sure her showing
- 34:31Speaker 2: Bart her boobs. Bart falls, Bart falls on the sword
- 34:36Speaker 2: for her, so she she gets caught shoplifted and he says, no,
- 34:39Speaker 2: they're for me, and he gets he takes the rap
- 34:42Speaker 2: and she goes, here's your present. And she lifts her
- 34:43Speaker 2: shirt up and shows him her boobs.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that was like a season twenty four episodes.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Oh I saw the click cut shared. I assumed it
- 34:51Speaker 2: was a new one. Yeah, I've never seen it. Okay.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and they kiss at some point and like because
- 34:56Speaker 1: he's like Jimba wants him to be her sha. Yes, yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 1: there's something like that. Yeah. I don't remember liking it, so.
- 35:06Speaker 2: No.
- 35:06Speaker 1: But I mean that's a weird because I think people
- 35:08Speaker 1: are kind of neither here nor they're on Shauna because
- 35:11Speaker 1: she's just one of these new weird characters and her
- 35:14Speaker 1: catchphrases I'm shut at. But they give her a bit
- 35:18Speaker 1: more to do in this episode, and they actually fill
- 35:21Speaker 1: her out with actual character traits and it's compelling. And yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 1: while all these other stories are going off, she's having
- 35:27Speaker 1: relationship problems with Jimbo and they use that to like
- 35:32Speaker 1: go to act break with these fake shocking revelations which
- 35:36Speaker 1: just have nothing to do with the main story. But
- 35:38Speaker 1: I'm not selling how actually funny it is. But it's
- 35:42Speaker 1: just it's a really good job that they do in
- 35:44Speaker 1: this episode. Again, just one of these absolute gems from
- 35:47Speaker 1: the New era.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Something that is funny. It's the last episode we're going
- 35:50Speaker 2: to talk about today here in part two of the
- 35:51Speaker 2: best vacation episodes. I know there's others, but you know,
- 35:54Speaker 2: we don't want to hit people for too long. It
- 35:57Speaker 2: is Barba's Australia. This is the vacation episodes of all
- 36:00Speaker 2: vocation episodes, as far as in the Australian Simpsons fan
- 36:03Speaker 2: is aware. When I was a kid, I don't think
- 36:08Speaker 2: I really enjoyed this one as much as I probably
- 36:12Speaker 2: should have got in quite notice or pick up on
- 36:14Speaker 2: all the subtle references that this episode had. There's just
- 36:18Speaker 2: so much a love about this. When this one gives
- 36:19Speaker 2: us Bruno and Tobias.
- 36:22Speaker 1: It's just taken on a life of their own. Australian
- 36:25Speaker 1: Simpsons mean culture.
- 36:27Speaker 2: A hugest fan because I one thing I will I'll
- 36:30Speaker 2: never use the sea bomb in anything Forefinger just count related, right,
- 36:33Speaker 2: So I'm not a huge fan of Tobias memes, but
- 36:36Speaker 2: just the innocence of him the commission, but it gave
- 36:43Speaker 2: us the Dollary dues. Now, this is something that has
- 36:45Speaker 2: just lived on forever. It's something that I still use
- 36:47Speaker 2: to this day and kids are now using it again.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Not because it's a Simpsons reference, but because it's a
- 36:52Speaker 2: Bluey reference. Bluey real creators of Bluey are huge Simpsons
- 36:56Speaker 2: fan So the Simpsons quotes and tidbits throughout the entire
- 37:00Speaker 2: Blue series because the guys who make it are huge
- 37:03Speaker 2: Simpsons fans, right. And the guy who makes the Simpsons music, jeofh. Bush,
- 37:08Speaker 2: who came on the show to do a review of
- 37:11Speaker 2: songs in the Key of Springfield, the album that we
- 37:13Speaker 2: all love when we were kids. He was heavily influenced
- 37:15Speaker 2: by that CD. And that's that was like his biggest
- 37:18Speaker 2: influence for the music of Bluey was the Simpsons music. Right. Interesting,
- 37:22Speaker 2: So you watch Blue Now and you go, oh, that's
- 37:24Speaker 2: a Simpsons gave. That's a Simpsons line, and they call
- 37:26Speaker 2: money dollarydo's, I'm Bluey. So kids are now walking around
- 37:29Speaker 2: saying dollary doo's not because they're Simpsons fans, but because
- 37:31Speaker 2: they're Bluey fans. But because of the Simpsons, the blue
- 37:33Speaker 2: and now do it. So the legend lives on.
- 37:36Speaker 1: So funny an American thing of this is what an
- 37:39Speaker 1: Australian would call it has become exactly what an Australian
- 37:42Speaker 1: would call it.
- 37:43Speaker 2: That's what Australia would call it. Yeah. The thing with
- 37:45Speaker 2: Bluey now is though it kind of feels like they've
- 37:48Speaker 2: sold out. It's not the term. But now that Disney
- 37:50Speaker 2: have bought it out and it's going to be a Disneyland,
- 37:52Speaker 2: we kind of go, oh, it's not like it's not
- 37:55Speaker 2: ours anymore. Yeah, I get why. I get why you
- 37:58Speaker 2: do it because you know, hey, chase the chase the bank,
- 38:00Speaker 2: chase the money. But the thing is Bluey felt because
- 38:03Speaker 2: my kids love Blueing. I think when you're a parent,
- 38:04Speaker 2: you just Blue just becomes a part of your life
- 38:06Speaker 2: because Blue is the biggest show in the world. But
- 38:08Speaker 2: you watched it going It's so great that this little
- 38:10Speaker 2: Aussie show has become the biggest show kids show in
- 38:12Speaker 2: the world.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Ah.
- 38:14Speaker 2: But now now it's at Disneyland. Now it's owned by Disney.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Now they're making episodes exclusive for Disney plus that Australians
- 38:19Speaker 2: ain't gonna get access to.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Uh.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Now, now the ovisional writers aren't working on the show anymore.
- 38:24Speaker 2: It's now Disney writers and they're working because they're making
- 38:27Speaker 2: a Blue movie. So the original creator and writer, he's
- 38:30Speaker 2: now working on the movie and they've got other people
- 38:32Speaker 2: working on the show now, and I'm like, it's just
- 38:35Speaker 2: doesn't feel the same anymore.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Oh, that's a little worrying, you know, because some of
- 38:39Speaker 1: the weaker parts of the teens era were during production
- 38:42Speaker 1: of the Simpsons movie. Ah.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why, though he's gone, I'm going to focus.
- 38:48Speaker 2: We're going to focus on the movie and make sure
- 38:49Speaker 2: the movie is quality and you guys can work on
- 38:51Speaker 2: the show. I feel that the Simpsons, there's two different
- 38:54Speaker 2: reasons that it could be it's not gonna work because
- 38:56Speaker 2: they're new writers or whatever. I'm not too sure. With
- 38:58Speaker 2: the Simpsons movie though, they tried to double handle and
- 39:01Speaker 2: that's where the quality did. Yeah, and I feel like
- 39:03Speaker 2: the movie and the show suffered as a result.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that season fifteen to eighteen is a particularly weak
- 39:10Speaker 1: error of the show. Definitely.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I never really noticed. I thought the show was fine.
- 39:15Speaker 2: I feel like season nineteen was probably the one that
- 39:18Speaker 2: it stood out the most. That felt like, oh, the
- 39:21Speaker 2: quality had dropped because season they were working on season
- 39:23Speaker 2: eighteen and nineteen when the film came Like the film
- 39:26Speaker 2: came out when those were airing, they were working on
- 39:28Speaker 2: those ones at the same time. So season eighteen you
- 39:30Speaker 2: can really start to see, Oh, there's a lot of
- 39:32Speaker 2: episodes here that just feel like a bunch of stuff
- 39:34Speaker 2: that's been slapped together. There's no real what's this episode about.
- 39:38Speaker 2: It's just as guys likes to stayd the podcast, a
- 39:40Speaker 2: bunch of stuff happening. It's just that it was like
- 39:43Speaker 2: a bunch of ideas going, yeah, that' the couldn't been
- 39:46Speaker 2: a full episode. That could be the start of it. Yeah,
- 39:47Speaker 2: that onely cou't before, and that can just be we'll
- 39:49Speaker 2: merge that together and that could be like the middle
- 39:51Speaker 2: act and then we're just a lot of the episodes
- 39:52Speaker 2: in season eighteen nineteen, I felt, I don't know whether
- 39:54Speaker 2: you noticed this, It felt like they wrote episodes and
- 39:57Speaker 2: I didn't realize they were at the end and went, oh,
- 39:59Speaker 2: and by the way, now's the end, and there was
- 40:01Speaker 2: no ending to the story. Did you notice that as
- 40:02Speaker 2: well when you were reviewing them.
- 40:04Speaker 1: It sort of happens in the twenties as well, like
- 40:07Speaker 1: it's just oh, we're at twenty two minutes. That's lunch,
- 40:09Speaker 1: you know, and.
- 40:10Speaker 2: The story's going all of a sudden, it's just, oh,
- 40:12Speaker 2: that's it. The one that stood out the most of me,
- 40:14Speaker 2: that really annoyed me was e pluribus Wigham where oh
- 40:18Speaker 2: Wiggam's now going for president? What what's happening here? And
- 40:22Speaker 2: that's yeah, yeah, that.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Is add personified that episode. It was.
- 40:26Speaker 2: It was terrible. It was a terrible episode. Yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I really hope there is still some quality control
- 40:33Speaker 1: with Bluey because that is just such a special show
- 40:36Speaker 1: in the It's not going for wacky, outlandish things. This
- 40:40Speaker 1: it's all very home stuff, like it's stuff they would
- 40:44Speaker 1: happen in the home.
- 40:45Speaker 2: And particularly Australian homes.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, Introducing Dave McCormack and he's bancusted to
- 40:52Speaker 1: a wider audience is just I saw them a couple
- 40:56Speaker 1: of years ago now and he's just like, all right,
- 40:59Speaker 1: thanks for everybody for coming and checking out, and thank
- 41:01Speaker 1: you for the Bluey fans as well for taking a
- 41:03Speaker 1: chance on us. And yeah they're a wonderful band. That Yeah,
- 41:06Speaker 1: I hope, yeah, more people check out Custard. Yes he's
- 41:10Speaker 1: the voice of bandit for those of you playing at home.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Oh yes, sorry.
- 41:14Speaker 2: They gave David who.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Well yeah they wouldn't know because they can't sit through
- 41:19Speaker 1: and read the credits because they keep fucking triggering them down.
- 41:23Speaker 2: At stand with my kids. They kept saying, where's remote?
- 41:25Speaker 2: Whe's remote? I was like, the intro goes for twenty
- 41:27Speaker 2: do you feel like the fucking the world was ending?
- 41:30Speaker 1: Like they gotta skip it. I'm like, just watch it.
- 41:33Speaker 1: They're like, nah, just fucking watch the intro. Child that's
- 41:38Speaker 1: a shame. It's a dope theme song.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Not the Bluey one. It's the Muppet Babies one. They
- 41:43Speaker 2: love muppert Babies as well, right, Ah, that was up.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Babies goes from maybe twenty five. It's a new one.
- 41:48Speaker 2: It's actually pretty good. It's a good kid show. Okay,
- 41:50Speaker 2: at first it was CGI and I went out CGI.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Muppet Babies No, and I watched it. I went pretty good.
- 41:56Speaker 2: It goes about twenty five thirty seconds the intro song
- 41:58Speaker 2: right for them Babies, so I can get it. It's longer,
- 42:02Speaker 2: but he is I'm bloom over twenty seconds as well,
- 42:05Speaker 2: but it's like it's twenty seconds. But sometimes Elliott can't
- 42:09Speaker 2: find the remote. The closing credits come on and he
- 42:12Speaker 2: wants to skip to the next one. God forbid us
- 42:14Speaker 2: to sit through the fucking twenty seconds of closing credits.
- 42:17Speaker 2: It's like it's the end of the world. But I
- 42:22Speaker 2: think that's the queue to cue the closing credits of
- 42:24Speaker 2: this podcast. That has been part two. Here we have
- 42:26Speaker 2: to discussed part as Australia as a whole. So Barva's Australia, right,
- 42:29Speaker 2: So we went off on a tangent dollar Dooo, let's
- 42:31Speaker 2: get to Barbara's Australia. So this is the one that
- 42:35Speaker 2: a lot a lot of people say, I've read online
- 42:37Speaker 2: so many Australians didn't like it. And you talked I've
- 42:39Speaker 2: talked about someone numerous times about and he goes, yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 2: he was he's hated at the time. Yeah, I know
- 42:44Speaker 2: that we did. I think it's a couple of people
- 42:45Speaker 2: just wrote to the paper and you guys maybe got
- 42:47Speaker 2: caught wind to that and that's it. Like, I know,
- 42:50Speaker 2: I don't remember anyone hating this episode. My mum watched
- 42:52Speaker 2: a couple of times with us. What would be on
- 42:54Speaker 2: whilst we're watching, and she'd walk past she go ah,
- 42:56Speaker 2: we don't talk like that, and I'm like, that's that's
- 42:59Speaker 2: the joke.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Though again it's very that's the joke.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Yeah, But I think a generation of Australians I had
- 43:06Speaker 2: to live through the era of everyone's talking like this, mate,
- 43:10Speaker 2: whenever there's an aus on A Movies talking on this crocodile. Dundee, mate, Yeah,
- 43:14Speaker 2: that doesn't happen anymore. That they're playing, really hammering that stereotype.
- 43:18Speaker 2: The shrimp on the barbie. That one drives me insane.
- 43:21Speaker 2: I go to England now they go, should we put
- 43:23Speaker 2: some shrimps on the barbie? I'm like, you mean prawns? Yeah?
- 43:28Speaker 1: And no. Yeah, I remember at the time there were
- 43:33Speaker 1: Joyler's bastards like Alan Jones and Stanza Manic. Who oh
- 43:38Speaker 1: this is so but yeah, those are joyless assholes anyway.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And yeah, that stuff can bother you with the accent
- 43:44Speaker 1: work and everything, because they actually kind of sound South
- 43:47Speaker 1: African in this episode. But yeah, it knows this and
- 43:50Speaker 1: it makes parody of it in the episode, and I
- 43:54Speaker 1: feel like it is kind of criticism proof in that weight.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Just from those elements, I agree with what you're saying
- 43:59Speaker 1: at the top for the review for this one. But yeah,
- 44:03Speaker 1: and that it's just permeated our culture so well and
- 44:07Speaker 1: in so many interesting and funny ways. The Australian flag
- 44:10Speaker 1: with the boot, you see that at festivals, Now.
- 44:13Speaker 2: That's now the Australia Australia Day flag.
- 44:15Speaker 1: You put up Yeah yeah, exactly.

- 44:50Speaker 2: me is an episode that brings me so much joy
- 44:52Speaker 2: because I'm so glad that we got the Simpsons because
- 44:56Speaker 2: they didn't go to many different countries in the Golden
- 44:58Speaker 2: era at all, Right, and it makes me so good
- 45:00Speaker 2: that they came to Australia when the Simpsons were still
- 45:03Speaker 2: at their peak, and we just we have it to
- 45:06Speaker 2: go back and watch whenever we want to. Right, We've
- 45:07Speaker 2: got peak Simpsons taking the mickey out of our country,
- 45:10Speaker 2: tongue and cheek in a fun way. We're all in
- 45:13Speaker 2: on the joke. Because England had to wait till like
- 45:15Speaker 2: season fourteen or whatever. The Simpsons weren't the Simpsons at
- 45:19Speaker 2: their peak by that point. You know, we've got a
- 45:20Speaker 2: really weird shoehorning guest appearances with this one. Here, it's
- 45:25Speaker 2: not shoehorned. There's no Australian celebrities shoehorned into this at all. Yeah,
- 45:28Speaker 2: it's just it is focusing on the Simpsons experiencing Australian culture.
- 45:34Speaker 2: And that's what a Simpsons vacation episode should be, the
- 45:37Speaker 2: Simpsons going and experiencing a new culture, not which guest
- 45:40Speaker 2: star can we get on this week? Hey it's Prime
- 45:42Speaker 2: Minister Tony Blair and he's going to rocket at the airport.
- 45:45Speaker 2: What was that all about? You know what I mean? Oh,
- 45:48Speaker 2: Homer rear ended the Queen. This, that and the other
- 45:50Speaker 2: is all based on guest appearances. But versus Australia is
- 45:53Speaker 2: the Simpsons coming here, experiencing Australian culture and realizing just
- 45:58Speaker 2: how different and similar we both are. And I just
- 46:00Speaker 2: love it for it. It's just it's fantastic that we're's
- 46:02Speaker 2: Australian fans who I still to this day will say
- 46:05Speaker 2: the Australian fans are the most hardcore Simpsons fans in
- 46:07Speaker 2: the world. When it comes to nations, I think we
- 46:09Speaker 2: are We're the most dedicated. We've got all the think
- 46:10Speaker 2: of all the mean pages, a lot of most of
- 46:12Speaker 2: them are based around from Australia, and I just think
- 46:16Speaker 2: that we're so lucky to have that episode exist.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, because I was on the podcast Worst Episode Ever,
- 46:24Speaker 1: which exclusively focuses on the less like Simpsons episodes, and
- 46:30Speaker 1: they wanted me and BT to come on to review
- 46:33Speaker 1: Bart versus Australia because well, because there is a controversial
- 46:38Speaker 1: take that this is the Simpson a not the jumping
- 46:42Speaker 1: the shark, but a jumping the shark moment, in that
- 46:45Speaker 1: this would set up some of the worst trends of
- 46:48Speaker 1: a vacation episode that would come later on. You know,
- 46:51Speaker 1: you're talking about the England episode, but also like when
- 46:54Speaker 1: they go to Ireland or when they go to Israel.
- 46:57Speaker 1: It's just like this sort of checklist of things that
- 47:02Speaker 1: they have to hit when they're making references to the
- 47:04Speaker 1: place they're going. But yeah, that's the thing we came
- 47:07Speaker 1: away from it going, no, this is one of the
- 47:09Speaker 1: best episodes of the show.
- 47:10Speaker 2: You know.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Yes, they've done weaker versions of this later on. But yeah,
- 47:16Speaker 1: they just absolutely hit the bullseye on this one. And
- 47:20Speaker 1: it is a joyous experience to watch. And yeah, I
- 47:22Speaker 1: don't feel like it's just going, oh, now we're at
- 47:25Speaker 1: the Opera House. Now we're in the Simpson Desert. Haha,
- 47:28Speaker 1: we're the Simpsons, you know, and making shitty jokes like that,
- 47:30Speaker 1: and then oh what are you doing here? Prime Minister
- 47:32Speaker 1: John Howard.
- 47:33Speaker 2: They don't make any references to celebrities, they don't make
- 47:36Speaker 2: any references really to landmarks. The landmarks they they have
- 47:39Speaker 2: the statue of snake, you know, because we are convicts.
- 47:42Speaker 2: That's what the Modern Day show was based on. That's
- 47:46Speaker 2: where you sort of got look at you go, ah,
- 47:48Speaker 2: that's not really our heritage. Our heritage is First Nations people.
- 47:51Speaker 2: They were here for thousands of years before these people
- 47:53Speaker 2: came here and invaded the country. So it's like that
- 47:55Speaker 2: element of it feels somewhat dated now. But the thing
- 47:58Speaker 2: is they didn't go, oh, the Simpsons are going to
- 48:01Speaker 2: the Upper House. I don't agree with that take at all.
- 48:03Speaker 2: He said, worst episode ever was the podcast this. Oh.
- 48:06Speaker 1: They they didn't back that take. They were just saying,
- 48:08Speaker 1: it's a take that exists Okay, then.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't agree with that at all, because this
- 48:12Speaker 2: one does the opposite. This one doesn't have any guest stars,
- 48:14Speaker 2: this one doesn't have any landmarks, doesn't do any of that.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I think worst episode ever. Were looking to
- 48:19Speaker 1: have a break from watching new Simpsons and they were like, hey,
- 48:22Speaker 1: we know these Australians. Here's an excuse to watch a
- 48:24Speaker 1: good episode. Yeah.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I do fine though, because we're an Australian fans, it's
- 48:27Speaker 2: always one hey do you want to review bad versus
- 48:30Speaker 2: Australia because you're Australian. That seems to be the one
- 48:33Speaker 2: all the podcasts go to, like, hey, we're doing but Australia,
- 48:36Speaker 2: would you like to talk about it? I'm like, again,
- 48:40Speaker 2: I'll take the opportunity again to show them as well.
- 48:43Speaker 2: The Simpsons memes, which yeah, depict Tobias as this Bunnings
- 48:47Speaker 2: loving ecstasy, taking a potty mouth, the little thing.
- 48:50Speaker 1: It's just they're like, what has happened to you guys
- 48:54Speaker 1: over there? Old?
- 48:55Speaker 2: I don't buy into any of those memes.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Nah.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Look, look if you have maskt mid Bias, all right, guys,

- 50:17Speaker 1: And starring Springfield. And I just noticed, yes, just this week,
- 50:21Speaker 1: we've actually got a vacation episode of Sorts to review.
- 50:25Speaker 1: We're going to be reviewing rug Rats Go Wild. So
- 50:29Speaker 1: this is the two thousand and three movie, the third
- 50:32Speaker 1: movie for rug Rats, the second for the Wild Thornberry's
- 50:35Speaker 1: and it's a big old crossover movie. And this is
- 50:38Speaker 1: also where Nancy Cart right, she's the star of this one,
- 50:42Speaker 1: is taking over from Chuckie Finster because.
- 50:44Speaker 2: The original course, yeah, busted away.
- 50:47Speaker 1: She actually retired a few years before, but yeah, I
- 50:51Speaker 1: would pass away later, but yeah, yeah, took her from
- 50:54Speaker 1: Christine Kavana.
- 50:54Speaker 2: I believe her name is big, big, big friend of Jim's.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Yeah, oh is that right? Yeah? Well yeah, And Nancy
- 51:02Speaker 1: does like just a one to one job. It's just
- 51:05Speaker 1: incredible and unbelief she's still the voice to Chucky for
- 51:08Speaker 1: This Day for most of the stuff. So yeah, and
- 51:12Speaker 1: it's just this wild thing again. Whenever we do this
- 51:14Speaker 1: and like think about the cast of these movies, it's like,
- 51:17Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure this is going to be the only
- 51:18Speaker 1: movie that has yeah, the voice of Bart Simpson, Bruce
- 51:21Speaker 1: Willis and Flee from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in it.
- 51:25Speaker 1: So yeah, it's a little bit of a fun one,
- 51:27Speaker 1: this one. So yeah, go check it out, starring Springfield

- 52:21Speaker 1: Oh, that's a cute one. Yeah, that's very cute where
- 52:25Speaker 1: Lisa becomes a cruciverbalist, which, as the episode teaches me,
- 52:28Speaker 1: is someone who likes crosswords. And Yeah, there's an interesting

- 52:47Speaker 2: soon as that happens, I'll go, ugh, this ain't what
- 52:50Speaker 2: it once was, because seeing it in fourth Streets is
- 52:53Speaker 2: still someone feels like we're still in the older ear.
