- Lucas: Hei, og velkommen til Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and I'm here with Luna. Luna: Hei hei! Ready for another tiny step in Norwegian? I've been practicing the verbs we've learned. Lucas: That's great. Today we're going to learn a verb that's the opposite of one we did before: 'å lukke' — to close. Luna: Oh, like 'å åpne' was to open, so 'å lukke' is to close? Perfect pair. Lucas: Exactly. Before we dive in, I want to mention something quick. If Fexingo has been helping you pick up these words, and you'd like to support us making more episodes, a couple of dollars a month genuinely makes a difference. Luna: Yeah, it really does. You can find us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. No pressure, just if you've gotten something out of these. Lucas: Okay, back to the verb. So 'å lukke'. Listen closely: å lukke. Luna: Å lukke. Lucas: Good. Now let's use it in a sentence: 'Jeg lukker døren.' — I close the door. Luna: Jeg lukker døren. Lucas: Perfect. 'Døren' is 'the door'. Now what if you want to ask someone to close something? 'Kan du lukke vinduet?' — Can you close the window? Luna: Kan du lukke vinduet? Oh, 'vinduet' is 'the window'. Lucas: Right. So 'Kan du lukke?' is a short way to say 'Can you close?'. Luna: Kan du lukke? Simple. But what if I want to say 'Close the door, please'? Lucas: That would be 'Lukk døren, vær så snill.' 'Lukk' is the imperative form — a command. Luna: Lukk døren, vær så snill. So 'å lukke' changes to 'lukk' when telling someone to close. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice a quick scene. Say I'm sitting near an open window and it's cold. Luna: Okay, so I could say 'Kan du lukke vinduet?'. Lucas: Yes! And I would reply 'Ja, jeg lukker vinduet.'. Luna: Ja, jeg lukker vinduet. That's easy. Lucas: Now you try asking me to close the door. Luna: Kan du lukke døren? Lucas: Selvfølgelig, jeg lukker døren. Now, what if you want to say 'I close the book'? Luna: Jeg lukker boken. 'Boken' is 'the book'? I remember that. Lucas: Yep. So let's do a full sentence: 'Jeg lukker boken og går.' — I close the book and go. Luna: Jeg lukker boken og går. That's a nice sentence. Lucas: Good. Now remember, 'å lukke' works for many things: the door, the window, the book, the store. Luna: Oh, like 'Butikken lukker klokka fem.' — The store closes at five. Lucas: Exactly! So 'butikken lukker' is the store closes. You're using the present tense there. Luna: So 'å lukke' is regular? Jeg lukker, du lukker, han lukker? Lucas: Yes, it follows the regular pattern. Let's review all the phrases we used today: 'å lukke', 'Jeg lukker døren.', 'Lukker du vinduet?', 'Kan du lukke?', 'Lukk døren, vær så snill.'. Luna: I think I've got them. Let me say each one. Å lukke. Jeg lukker døren. Lukker du vinduet? Kan du lukke? Lukk døren, vær så snill. Lucas: Fantastic. You're closing in on mastering 'å lukke'. Luna: I see what you did there. Okay, I'll practice these. Thanks for another great episode, Lucas. Lucas: Thank you for learning with us. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Ha det bra! Luna: Ha det bra!
