- 0:00Speaker 1: I was going on this, Romeo, check it out what
- 0:02Speaker 1: you missed already four for seven to seven. You know,
- 0:07Speaker 1: rome I have a.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Question for you about tipping. I just found out this
- 0:12Speaker 2: morning when I was looking at their steep from last night.
- 0:14Speaker 2: My wife and I went out with some friends to
- 0:16Speaker 2: a restaurant and we got a separate bill. When I
- 0:19Speaker 2: paid the bill, I left the tip. When I got home.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I actually was looking at the bill and I saw
- 0:26Speaker 2: that the tip was already included, and the waitress didn't
- 0:30Speaker 2: tell me that, so I ended up tipping her twice.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Don't you think that's a scam?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Room.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I don't know what to do about it.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I think I should go back to the restaurant and
- 0:40Speaker 2: try to get my money back from the tip.
- 0:45Speaker 1: No, I mean, I don't think it's a scam.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna guess this is what I'm gonna guess happen
- 0:49Speaker 2: just based on what you said. You said you went
- 0:51Speaker 2: out with some friends and the and the tip was
- 0:56Speaker 2: already on the bill. I don't think it was a scam.
- 0:58Speaker 2: What I think it was was you probably had most
- 1:01Speaker 2: restaurants anybody over what is it six people? I believe
- 1:05Speaker 2: I think it's six people. At the table.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Then they automatically include.
- 1:09Speaker 2: The tip to the bill. So I'm gonna guess that's
- 1:14Speaker 2: what happened, and that's pretty standard, pretty common practice, nowady,
- 1:19Speaker 2: is it a restaurant after a certain amount of people,
- 1:22Speaker 2: they add a tip to the bill, which I don't
- 1:23Speaker 2: have a problem with, especially the only reason I have
- 1:26Speaker 2: a problem with it only happened to be one time.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But this was years ago, where they added the tip
- 1:31Speaker 2: to the bill because we had a big party and
- 1:33Speaker 2: the service was awful because they knew they were already
- 1:35Speaker 2: getting their tip. Now, I've never had that happen before.
- 1:38Speaker 2: It only happened one time. But I don't think it's
- 1:43Speaker 2: a scam. I think it's just that that policy and
- 1:46Speaker 2: if your service was good, but the problem is not
- 1:51Speaker 2: the restaurant, it's you. You should have paid attention that
- 1:55Speaker 2: the tip. I know what you're thinking, right, it's only
- 1:59Speaker 2: the two of the bill, just you and your wife,
- 2:01Speaker 2: So why would you Why would they add the tip?
- 2:03Speaker 1: But you were in a.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Big party, I'm guessing because you said you went out
- 2:06Speaker 2: with friends, so your party probably exceeded whatever number of
- 2:09Speaker 2: the restaurant has to put the tip directly on the
- 2:13Speaker 2: bill and you know, you just didn't pay attention to
- 2:17Speaker 2: the bill till today. So no, I don't I don't
- 2:19Speaker 2: think you should get your money back. I don't think
- 2:20Speaker 2: you should go to the restaurant. I don't think you
- 2:22Speaker 2: should chalk it up as uh as them trying to
- 2:27Speaker 2: scam you. I think you just gotta take the l
- 2:30Speaker 2: on that one. You didn't pay attention to what was
- 2:32Speaker 2: going on. You pay you added another tip thinking you
- 2:35Speaker 2: know it is what it is. You should have read
- 2:38Speaker 2: the bill right, and that's.
- 2:39Speaker 1: What it is. So but I.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Don't think that. I don't think they were trying to
- 2:44Speaker 2: scam you by any means. What was the what was
- 2:47Speaker 2: the tip? I'm gonna guess by the way that whatever
- 2:50Speaker 2: percentage they were adding to your bill as a tip
- 2:54Speaker 2: is probably less than what you were really going to
- 2:56Speaker 2: give them if they hadn't added that.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I'm just guessing.
- 3:01Speaker 2: So yeah, that's probably what happened. So a guy he
- 3:04Speaker 2: texted me and I guess he was out with his
- 3:06Speaker 2: wife and some prints last night.
- 3:09Speaker 1: He said he didn't realize he doubled tipped.
- 3:12Speaker 2: And what I think happened. And I'm just going off
- 3:14Speaker 2: what he's saying.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'm assuming.
- 3:17Speaker 2: What happened was most restaurants, anything over a certain amount
- 3:22Speaker 2: of people, they will include the tip, which is fine,
- 3:25Speaker 2: that's their policy. There's nothing really wrong with that. But
- 3:29Speaker 2: he ended up tipping again, and then he saw it,
- 3:32Speaker 2: he said he saw it the next day, he saw
- 3:34Speaker 2: the bill which had the tip already included, and then
- 3:38Speaker 2: he added a tip, and he was he thought he
- 3:40Speaker 2: was getting scammed. And I don't think it's a scam.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I think you just weren't paying attention. You got to
- 3:44Speaker 2: pay attention to your bill. Okay, he wasn't paying attention
- 3:46Speaker 2: to his bill, and apparently I'm going to guess there
- 3:49Speaker 2: was more than probably six people at his table, or
- 3:52Speaker 2: six or more people. That's usually what the common practice is.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And I don't think they were scamming you. I think
- 3:58Speaker 2: you just didn't pay attention in your bill that the
- 4:00Speaker 2: tip was already included.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So it is what it is.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Man, chalk it up as hey, I pay attention to
- 4:06Speaker 2: your bill next time. Already for tuvavo or seven seven yo.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Rome.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You were talking about the tipping. You don't think that
- 4:14Speaker 2: it's unreasonable for restaurants to add the tip to the
- 4:19Speaker 2: bill after a certain amount of people.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I don't think that's unreasonable.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I think it's bs if they don't give you good
- 4:27Speaker 2: service because they know they're already getting a tip. And
- 4:30Speaker 2: to be perfectly honest with you, most of the places
- 4:33Speaker 2: that i've seen that do that, or the places that
- 4:36Speaker 2: i've been that do that, the percentage that they're asking
- 4:41Speaker 2: or the percentage that they add on to me is
- 4:45Speaker 2: not even really enough for a tip, you know what
- 4:48Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 4:49Speaker 1: But you got to do something. I mean, it gets
- 4:53Speaker 1: big tables or a pain in the ass.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Man, when you go out with a group of people,
- 4:58Speaker 2: feel I feel kind of bad. I don't like going
- 5:00Speaker 2: out with large groups of people because when the bill comes,
- 5:05Speaker 2: it's a pain in the ass. And raid to robbel
- 5:06Speaker 2: though he's probably listening, he goes out with a huge
- 5:08Speaker 2: family every I think they go out to breakfast every
- 5:11Speaker 2: Sunday or whatever, and I don't know how they deal
- 5:13Speaker 2: with their bill, but he'll tell us.
- 5:17Speaker 1: But it gets to be a painting.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I don't like going out with more than two people
- 5:22Speaker 2: because it turns into just a headache, you know, with
- 5:25Speaker 2: the bill.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Oh, we'll take separate bills.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I think nowadays with these electronic electronic devices.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That they use for calculating your bill.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I think it's easier for the waitress or waiter waitress
- 5:37Speaker 2: or the wait staff to deal with it. But as
- 5:41Speaker 2: a customer with a large group, everybody wants to. I mean,
- 5:45Speaker 2: it's just a pain.
- 5:45Speaker 1: In the ass.
- 5:46Speaker 2: How much did you spend? How much did I spend?
- 5:48Speaker 2: How are we splitting the bill equally or do we do?
- 5:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's just you know why I didn't order
- 5:53Speaker 2: this and I didn't order that. I didn't order that much.
- 5:55Speaker 2: He ordered way more than me. So you know, it
- 5:58Speaker 2: just gets to be when it gets to be a headache.
- 6:01Speaker 2: So I can understand why a waiter or a weight
- 6:05Speaker 2: staff would want to add the percentage to a bill
- 6:07Speaker 2: for large parties. I don't even like dealing with large parties.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I don't know how you guys split up. I will
- 6:12Speaker 2: find out what Rader Robb does. But sometimes it's easier
- 6:15Speaker 2: just to pay for everything, just to get out of
- 6:18Speaker 2: there and not deal with it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: But you know, not everybody can afford it. I can't
- 6:22Speaker 1: afford it.
- 6:23Speaker 2: So a guy he had sent me a text message
- 6:25Speaker 2: saying he was out last night with his wife and
- 6:28Speaker 2: some friends and apparently they got a bill just him
- 6:30Speaker 2: and his wife. Well, he didn't realize that there was
- 6:33Speaker 2: the tip was already added, so he tipped again, and
- 6:37Speaker 2: he thought maybe he was getting scammed. I don't think
- 6:39Speaker 2: you were getting scammed by the restaurant. I think you
- 6:41Speaker 2: didn't pay attention to your bill. So what I think
- 6:44Speaker 2: happened is there was probably more than whatever number the
- 6:48Speaker 2: restaurant says you have to have to already add the tip.
- 6:52Speaker 1: You just didn't pay attention.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So I don't I don't think it's a scam, but
- 6:55Speaker 2: you know, dealing with the bills is ridiculous when you
- 6:58Speaker 2: go out with multiple people already a four four or
- 7:01Speaker 2: seven to seven eight good morning Rome. Always look at
- 7:04Speaker 2: your receipt to verify everything. The only thing I don't
- 7:07Speaker 2: like is the Kiosks you paid through want you to
- 7:11Speaker 2: tip on.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Top of taxes added.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Example, one hundred dollars meal, Kiosk will do twenty percent
- 7:17Speaker 2: tip on after taxes, generating extra dollars sixty.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Five Do you have to do they.
- 7:26Speaker 2: A Kiosk makes you tip, why don't you just deny
- 7:30Speaker 2: the tip? Or is that I never seen that? If
- 7:32Speaker 2: I don't go to places, it's very rare that I've
- 7:35Speaker 2: ever gone to a place where you get where you
- 7:39Speaker 2: order it a kiosk, So I don't know they they
- 7:42Speaker 2: automatically put the tip in there. I've never seen that before.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You're gonna have to explain that one a little more
- 7:46Speaker 2: already four two five, four or seven to seven. So
- 7:49Speaker 2: how do you deal with a bill with multiple people
- 7:52Speaker 2: are tipping?
- 7:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 7:53Speaker 2: A guy was telling me he just texted me and
- 7:54Speaker 2: he said he went out with his wife last night,
- 7:56Speaker 2: was from friends, and when he looked at the receipt
- 7:58Speaker 2: the next day for his bill, I guess he had tipped.
- 8:02Speaker 2: But then he didn't realize that they had already put
- 8:05Speaker 2: the tip, included the tip in his bill.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So he thought maybe that he was getting scammed. And
- 8:10Speaker 1: I don't think he was getting scammed.
- 8:12Speaker 2: What I think happened was he there was probably more
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's usually six people. He was probably more than six
- 8:18Speaker 2: people at the table. Even though him and his wife
- 8:20Speaker 2: got his own bill, you're still you're still a bigger party.
- 8:24Speaker 2: So they added the tip to your bill. I don't
- 8:26Speaker 2: think there's anything wrong with that. If that's what they'll
- 8:28Speaker 2: tell you they're going to do, then you can make
- 8:30Speaker 2: the decision on whether you're going to.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Be there or not stay.
- 8:33Speaker 2: So he paid didn't pay attention. And that's that you
- 8:39Speaker 2: know already four ft four or seven to seven. Hey, Rome,
- 8:44Speaker 2: what you're saying doesn't make any sense. If him and
- 8:47Speaker 2: his wife, who were two people, got their own bill,
- 8:51Speaker 2: why would they put the tip in It wasn't more
- 8:55Speaker 2: than six As you said, Well, look if you have
- 9:01Speaker 2: a party. That's why I said, I hate going out
- 9:04Speaker 2: with multiple people and when it comes to paying the bill,
- 9:07Speaker 2: because some people want to get their own bill. Some
- 9:11Speaker 2: people want to get there, you know, want to split
- 9:13Speaker 2: it equally. Some people want to calculate exactly how much
- 9:17Speaker 2: they spend versus you know, how much they ate and
- 9:20Speaker 2: what their bill is. And then so anyway back to
- 9:24Speaker 2: your question, you don't get it because even if you
- 9:27Speaker 2: have more than six people, and I'm just using that
- 9:30Speaker 2: as the bar of when they include the tip at
- 9:33Speaker 2: the restaurant, a party's over six. Even if you have
- 9:37Speaker 2: six or more people and everybody gets a separate bill,
- 9:40Speaker 2: it's still a table of six, you know, So you
- 9:43Speaker 2: got to understand that.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Eight four, five four or seven to seven. Hey, Roam.
- 9:49Speaker 2: What I hate is when we all go out as
- 9:51Speaker 2: a big family, as a party. The people that only
- 9:54Speaker 2: want to pay for what they they got, but they
- 9:58Speaker 2: don't include the tip in that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that happens.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So when it comes to going out and eating in
- 10:05Speaker 2: large groups with lou with large groups of people, right,
- 10:07Speaker 2: they add a tip, which is no big deal. But
- 10:10Speaker 2: you got to pay attention to Some guy thought he
- 10:11Speaker 2: got scammed because he went out with a large group.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Him and his wife got their own bill. He got
- 10:15Speaker 2: looked at the bill and saw that the tip was
- 10:17Speaker 2: already added, and he tipped again with that. But that's
- 10:20Speaker 2: on you for not paying attention. All right, good morning,
- 10:23Speaker 2: how it's going on?
- 10:24Speaker 5: What's roan seahawk glue man lo hey ron.
- 10:28Speaker 6: So one way I avoid that auto tipping thing is
- 10:36Speaker 6: is that as soon as I get there, I tell
- 10:38Speaker 6: them we're all paying separate bills. So whenever you get
- 10:42Speaker 6: your bill, you don't get auto tip. You know what
- 10:45Speaker 6: I mean?
- 10:45Speaker 1: What do you mean auto tip? What do you mean?
- 10:47Speaker 3: Do you mean?
- 10:48Speaker 2: If if there's more than whatever number of people at
- 10:50Speaker 2: the table?
- 10:52Speaker 6: Yeah, so they had six of us, it's going to
- 10:54Speaker 6: be oh, those two people are paying for themselves.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Us to paying for ourselves, and so when the.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Bill comes for only me, and another person. I don't
- 11:05Speaker 6: get that hit automatically just because the party's more than six.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Oh.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I don't know where that where you're getting away with
- 11:12Speaker 2: that at But I've never seen that happen.
- 11:14Speaker 6: But okay, yeah, no, that's a better way to get
- 11:17Speaker 6: away with that. And then you tip them accordingly, whether
- 11:21Speaker 6: they earned it or not.
- 11:22Speaker 7: That's the way I feel.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I'm not arguing with you. I just have never seen
- 11:25Speaker 1: that happen.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Every time I've been out and people have gotten separate bills,
- 11:27Speaker 2: they've always added the tip based on how many people
- 11:30Speaker 2: were at the table.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So okay, I don't know.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Where you're going, but okay, all right, I don't know
- 11:36Speaker 2: where that's happening at all. Right for five for seven seven,
- 11:42Speaker 2: would you send me here?
- 11:43Speaker 7: Rome?
- 11:44Speaker 2: Oh, this is the kiosk right on the one hundred
- 11:46Speaker 2: dollars meal. The kiosk. It gives you an option fifteen,
- 11:49Speaker 2: eighteen or twenty or other if you click twenty at hat,
- 11:52Speaker 2: if you click twenty percent, it has you tip rather
- 11:57Speaker 2: than it has you tip one hundred.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Oh.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I see what you're saying, and I see what you're saying.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You're they're not forcing you to tip. They're just letting
- 12:05Speaker 2: giving you the tip after the taxes, so that adds
- 12:08Speaker 2: a little extra to icye what you're saying now, I
- 12:11Speaker 2: thought you were going to some kiosk where they were
- 12:13Speaker 2: forcing you to tip or already adding it on. I
- 12:18Speaker 2: see what you're saying. Alrighty four two, five, four or
- 12:20Speaker 2: seven seven. Yeah, but you can always do the math yourself.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Right, Hey, good morning Rome. Yes, it's true.
- 12:27Speaker 2: You usually put it in front of the restaurant. They
- 12:32Speaker 2: usually put it in front of the restaurant. We went
- 12:34Speaker 2: to clad Addie Seafood in taff and in small words,
- 12:39Speaker 2: it says, if there's a party of six or more,
- 12:41Speaker 2: a tip will be added at the end of the
- 12:43Speaker 2: receipt when pain Yeah, I don't think there's a problem
- 12:47Speaker 2: with that, do you.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I don't think that's an.
- 12:48Speaker 2: If they put it up there and you know what
- 12:50Speaker 2: you're getting yourself into, then you get you you know,
- 12:52Speaker 2: that's your option to decide whether you want to go
- 12:54Speaker 2: there or not. But you got to pay attention. I mean,
- 12:57Speaker 2: you don't want to double tip right already four two, five.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Four or seven to seven. A room tipping is for
- 13:04Speaker 1: the birds.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I will say this about tipping and for those of
- 13:09Speaker 2: you that don't do it. You shouldn't do it everywhere. Okay,
- 13:14Speaker 2: let's be honest. You should still. I still go by
- 13:17Speaker 2: the policy of a lot of you guys are taking
- 13:21Speaker 2: this opportunity of how crazy tipping has become and how
- 13:30Speaker 2: shisty some of these people are to want you to
- 13:32Speaker 2: tip them.
- 13:33Speaker 1: That you've just cut everybody off, and that's not the
- 13:37Speaker 1: way to do it.
- 13:37Speaker 2: You should still tip a weight staff when you're out
- 13:41Speaker 2: of dinner. You should still tip all the traditional people,
- 13:46Speaker 2: the weight staff, the bartender. Maybe you tip the valet
- 13:53Speaker 2: when you drop off your car. Although I do got
- 13:56Speaker 2: a question that is kind of a scam for me,
- 13:58Speaker 2: which I've never talked about, when you stay somewhere, When
- 14:06Speaker 2: you stay somewhere for like a week or a few days,
- 14:10Speaker 2: and you're constantly getting your car in and out and
- 14:12Speaker 2: you're tipping every single time. I don't know about that,
- 14:15Speaker 2: But that's there seems to be a hustle. But it's
- 14:17Speaker 2: only a couple of bucks a time, though, But I
- 14:20Speaker 2: still think you should tip them.
- 14:24Speaker 1: That's about it.
- 14:26Speaker 2: You probably should still tip the barber and the hairdresser,
- 14:31Speaker 2: and but I don't know those those guys are making
- 14:34Speaker 2: so much damn money that.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Maybe the nail salon, I'm not sure. I think I
- 14:43Speaker 2: think those they're I don't want to say aggressively taking
- 14:47Speaker 2: advantage of you financially, because I don't know what the
- 14:51Speaker 2: costs are to be a barber. I don't know what
- 14:53Speaker 2: the costs are to run a hair salon. I don't
- 14:54Speaker 2: know what those costs are.
- 14:55Speaker 1: So I don't know if they are taking advantage of you.
- 15:02Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 15:04Speaker 2: But I still think the traditional people you've tipped you
- 15:07Speaker 2: should still give a tip to. But the jama juice
- 15:11Speaker 2: anybody that puts you gives you an iPad and says here,
- 15:14Speaker 2: it's going to ask you a question. Those people don't
- 15:16Speaker 2: deserve tips already four two pop four or seven to seven.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Let's see here, hey, roam. It's crazy the Starbucks even
- 15:22Speaker 2: ask for a tip. It's crazy that when you drive
- 15:24Speaker 2: through a drive through that they ask you for a tip.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I mean, it's ridiculous some of the things some of
- 15:29Speaker 2: the people that ask you for something already four two
- 15:32Speaker 2: pou or seven to seven, good morning.
- 15:34Speaker 8: Not what's going on on tipping is if you can't
- 15:37Speaker 8: afford a tip, don't even go out and eat, say
- 15:40Speaker 8: you put home.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I have mixed feelings about that, but yeah, I get
- 15:44Speaker 2: what you're saying.
- 15:46Speaker 9: I mean, normally, like if I invite people out to eat,
- 15:49Speaker 9: I'm going to pick up the bill and they're going
- 15:50Speaker 9: to do the tipping or vice versa.
- 15:52Speaker 8: If I get invited out to eat somebody's.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Here's the thing, David, And this is why I say
- 15:58Speaker 2: I have a little bit of a mixed feeling. What
- 16:00Speaker 2: if you're a single mom with two kids, and you
- 16:05Speaker 2: can afford to take your kids out, but you can't
- 16:08Speaker 2: afford the tip. Should those kids and that mom should
- 16:11Speaker 2: she not be able to do that?
- 16:16Speaker 8: I don't think so.
- 16:17Speaker 9: She should save it for the people that have money
- 16:19Speaker 9: to do it.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. I don't know that you're right about that, But.
- 16:22Speaker 8: Okay, the state gives them some sun Bucks. It's like summertime, EBT.
- 16:27Speaker 9: She could stay at home cook it up.
- 16:29Speaker 8: And if you can't afford, what makes.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You what makes you think she's a single mom on
- 16:33Speaker 2: the EV team. Maybe she's a single mom just trying
- 16:36Speaker 2: to make it work because she's.
- 16:37Speaker 8: You know, yeah, it's it's tough right now. Inflation and
- 16:41Speaker 8: everything is high out there. So you know, I try
- 16:44Speaker 8: not to go out unless I have enough to splurg.
- 16:46Speaker 9: And leave a tip.
- 16:47Speaker 8: And it's all due to good service. If the service
- 16:50Speaker 8: is horrible, if my drink's empty the whole time, I'm
- 16:53Speaker 8: not tipping enough, my tip is going to be faster
- 16:56Speaker 8: next time, Okay.
- 17:01Speaker 2: David, I just that's where the dilemma comes in when
- 17:03Speaker 2: you think about tipping, because a lot of people say,
- 17:06Speaker 2: if you can't afford it, don't do it. But what
- 17:07Speaker 2: if you are that single mom who wants to take
- 17:10Speaker 2: your children out or your child out or who because
- 17:14Speaker 2: everybody should be able to, should be able to go
- 17:16Speaker 2: out and enjoy, you know, a night out whatever that
- 17:20Speaker 2: consists of.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So anyway, I don't know.
- 17:24Speaker 2: All right, So we're talking about stupid tricks you did
- 17:26Speaker 2: as a kid, or neighborhood games you got together with
- 17:29Speaker 2: your buddies and you would always, you know, you would
- 17:31Speaker 2: do something dumb. You would either or you'd play some
- 17:34Speaker 2: sort of neighborhood game to entertain yourself. Eight four two
- 17:37Speaker 2: five four seven to seven, Good morning.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Not what's going on? I mean?
- 17:41Speaker 10: So I remember back in the day, me and my
- 17:45Speaker 10: little cousins and all the little homies on the block.
- 17:48Speaker 10: We would we're on to WWF when wrestling was real.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it was real, okay.
- 17:55Speaker 10: And we used to play poop matches, so whenever a
- 17:59Speaker 10: dog with pooping the grass, first one lost.
- 18:05Speaker 6: It was horrible, it was it was.
- 18:09Speaker 11: Yeah, there was knockouts outing.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Just so whoever, whoever it is, that's vast growth.
- 18:16Speaker 1: That's nasty, all right, man, thanks for calling.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Like I said, man, kids will do anything to entertain themselves.
- 18:24Speaker 2: When you know, it was just you had to go outside,
- 18:27Speaker 2: you had to find other kids to play within your neighborhood,
- 18:31Speaker 2: and kids would just come up with the stupidest games
- 18:34Speaker 2: and do the dumbest tricks. Just you know, how do
- 18:39Speaker 2: you think you know, how do you think a lot
- 18:43Speaker 2: of these kids get hurt? A lot of these scars
- 18:45Speaker 2: came from entertainment. That's what we had to do to
- 18:48Speaker 2: entertain ourselves already four two, five, four or seven to seven?
- 18:51Speaker 2: What kind of tricks? What kind of neighborhood games did
- 18:53Speaker 2: you guys play? And when I say neighborhood games, like
- 18:58Speaker 2: what the guy just said, they played w w F
- 19:00Speaker 2: with pooh. I never heard of that before, but that
- 19:04Speaker 2: was a neighborhood game. You're talking about games, neighborhood games
- 19:07Speaker 2: you played when you were a kid.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Help, what's up?
- 19:10Speaker 12: Whoa roa roa?
- 19:11Speaker 3: What up?
- 19:11Speaker 1: Brother?
- 19:13Speaker 10: Neighborhood game we had we called it was football.
- 19:16Speaker 12: But we called it sideline bash.
- 19:20Speaker 10: As long as you ran down the middle of the
- 19:22Speaker 10: two hand touch, you ran so to the to the tidewalker.
- 19:26Speaker 12: Whatever you got, hit, whatever you did on that talk.
- 19:29Speaker 5: Whatever you did, whoa.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Matron, Thanks for calling glory that was going on?
- 19:50Speaker 5: Hey, Roman, talking about the childhood games?
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yeah whatever, man.
- 19:53Speaker 12: Hey, So, there used.
- 19:54Speaker 13: To be like ten of us.
- 19:55Speaker 8: We all lived like two blocks from each other.
- 19:58Speaker 5: We had the old you know, the power wheels, little
- 20:01Speaker 5: four four wheel cars or whatever.
- 20:03Speaker 12: Okay, dude, they'd be like six of us.
- 20:07Speaker 5: We're all probably six or seven years old.
- 20:09Speaker 12: You team up with your friends.
- 20:11Speaker 5: He'd push you around. We had a little dirty going on.
- 20:14Speaker 6: We'd smash into each other. Bro We did it until
- 20:19Speaker 6: our cars broke.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Man. We had these little beat up cars that have
- 20:22Speaker 5: no batteries.
- 20:23Speaker 12: And we just all got together. We just mashed into
- 20:27Speaker 12: each other. You know, somebody pushed to you and you
- 20:30Speaker 12: took turns just like that.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Oh man, that's great, man, that's great.
- 20:33Speaker 12: Great, dude, I never see those kids do that again
- 20:35Speaker 12: these days.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you vote, all right, man, They recall it all
- 20:39Speaker 1: right man later. I mean, let's be honest when we
- 20:41Speaker 1: talk about this stuff.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Though, kids today will never do that stuff because they
- 20:45Speaker 2: don't have to. I mean, back in the day before
- 20:49Speaker 2: the internet, before the app laptop, our iPads and computers
- 20:54Speaker 2: and all this stuff iPhones, before all of that, you.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Had to entertain yourself.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So you went and found on a bunch of other
- 21:01Speaker 2: kids in your neighborhood that had nothing else to do,
- 21:03Speaker 2: and that's how you became friends.
- 21:05Speaker 1: He became you think about it, All the friends you have.
- 21:09Speaker 2: For the most part now are because you were looking
- 21:12Speaker 2: for other people, other kids that had nothing else to do,
- 21:15Speaker 2: just like you, right you would. You might not be
- 21:18Speaker 2: friends with them today because you know you didn't have you.
- 21:22Speaker 2: That's all we were doing is kids running around looking
- 21:24Speaker 2: for other kids that had nothing else to do, so
- 21:27Speaker 2: we could do nothing together or make up silly games
- 21:30Speaker 2: to play.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Already four two, five, four or seven to seven.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Romeo, how are you this morning, great brother?
- 21:36Speaker 7: What's up well?
- 21:38Speaker 5: Growing up?
- 21:39Speaker 7: Man?
- 21:39Speaker 5: A lot of childhood games that I grew up playing
- 21:42Speaker 5: with a few friends that I had until this day,
- 21:45Speaker 5: are still part of my life.
- 21:47Speaker 7: One of them.
- 21:48Speaker 5: We didn't have a lot of money to one of them.
- 21:49Speaker 5: What we used to do is we used to roll
- 21:51Speaker 5: up a piece of paper, you know us in Oregon
- 21:54Speaker 5: and turn it into a dart.
- 21:55Speaker 13: And what we would do is you grab you grabbed
- 21:58Speaker 13: dirt and you'd throw it inside and make it hairvy right,
- 22:02Speaker 13: and then you grab a paper stick that you put
- 22:04Speaker 13: it the very tip right before you put the dirt,
- 22:06Speaker 13: so that it doesn't fall out, and you grab a
- 22:08Speaker 13: rubber band, the sickest, hardest rubber band you can find,
- 22:12Speaker 13: and you launch it in the air, and everybody stands
- 22:16Speaker 13: in the circle, head.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Down, and see whoever it hits. Mind you it's people
- 22:21Speaker 3: with dirt. It's not really going to hurt if it's
- 22:23Speaker 3: the back of your head. Until already decided to look
- 22:27Speaker 3: up and we're like, we're down.
- 22:29Speaker 13: You know.
- 22:29Speaker 5: It's one of those things if you're growing up in
- 22:31Speaker 5: these Baker's fields and you hear the words you're not down,
- 22:35Speaker 5: my gosh, or double dog dare you? You're gonna have
- 22:37Speaker 5: to do it. So we all decide to look up. Well,
- 22:40Speaker 5: it's already square in the eye o God. That to
- 22:44Speaker 5: this day we call them bulls eye already, or sometimes
- 22:47Speaker 5: we'll call them prety.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Oh, that's hilarious to do.
- 22:53Speaker 5: All sorts of stuff, Man, if I can tell you
- 22:55Speaker 5: real last one, because we used to skate downhill. There's
- 22:58Speaker 5: a street called Camino Brimaveda on these Bakers films, they
- 23:02Speaker 5: dared me to a rollerblade downhill. I never rollerblade in
- 23:05Speaker 5: my life. I didn't know how to stop. So as
- 23:08Speaker 5: I'm going down, I'm about to reach College, which is
- 23:11Speaker 5: a very busy street. I'm thinking the best thing for
- 23:16Speaker 5: me to do, since I don't know how to stop
- 23:17Speaker 5: on rollerblades, is to throw myself on one of the lawns.
- 23:22Speaker 7: Well, Newton's law.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Of physics is that a body emotion tends to stay
- 23:26Speaker 5: emotion unless I could have found a greater force. People
- 23:28Speaker 5: in greater force. We'll get what When I threw myself
- 23:32Speaker 5: midair into the grass, I completely kept going mid air
- 23:37Speaker 5: and mixed the entiregrass area, landed on the driveway, and
- 23:41Speaker 5: the pavement rolled a few times. Old man I was
- 23:45Speaker 5: washing his lawn there just looked at me and he goes, man,
- 23:49Speaker 5: you completely missed that hirography area.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Well, we're talking about as a kid man before all
- 23:57Speaker 2: this electronics, before video games, before or anything that kept
- 24:01Speaker 2: you in a house. Everything you had to do was
- 24:03Speaker 2: outside the house, which means you had to go out
- 24:06Speaker 2: and find other kids like you who had nothing to do.
- 24:09Speaker 2: And then that's how you made your friends in the neighborhood.
- 24:12Speaker 2: And then after a while you'd start making up dumb
- 24:15Speaker 2: neighborhood games, or you'd make up stupid.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Tricks to do.
- 24:18Speaker 2: You know, everybody, lay down, Let's see how many how
- 24:22Speaker 2: many kids we can jump over on our bikes?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, have you done that already?
- 24:26Speaker 2: Four?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Two, five, four, seven to seven? Going on? I put
- 24:33Speaker 1: up djo.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Hey.
- 24:34Speaker 12: When I was little, used to play this game hine
- 24:39Speaker 12: go gig heard that? No, what is It's a bunch
- 24:43Speaker 12: of those girls and boys get together and play and
- 24:46Speaker 12: we'd be crushing on each other and say we.
- 24:49Speaker 9: Go high and when they find they.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Get it spot.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Oh my god? What is a.
- 25:02Speaker 8: That's great?
- 25:05Speaker 1: Thanks?
- 25:07Speaker 6: All right?
- 25:10Speaker 1: What should play that game as adults? All right? Hey?
- 25:12Speaker 7: Room?
- 25:13Speaker 2: We used to play a game called a Black Widow
- 25:15Speaker 2: where we where we would turn all the lights off
- 25:18Speaker 2: in the room and just start fighting everyone in the dark,
- 25:22Speaker 2: free for all rumbles in the dark.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Nice nice kids are so stupid? Oh my god, how
- 25:30Speaker 4: did we survive? Eight four two, five four seven to seventh?
- 25:33Speaker 4: Kind of dumb neighborhood games did you play with your
- 25:35Speaker 4: friends in the neighborhood?
- 25:36Speaker 1: Are stupid tricks you would do? Good morning? How what's
- 25:38Speaker 1: going on?
- 25:39Speaker 5: Yeah about dornof? Have you ever heard of doorknob?
- 25:43Speaker 1: Dor?
- 25:43Speaker 11: No?
- 25:44Speaker 12: So well you're right there with your with.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Your friends or family members and you part, they rush
- 25:50Speaker 5: it will start beating you up until you touch the doorknob.
- 25:53Speaker 5: We did that all the time.
- 26:02Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what we do.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Man.
- 26:03Speaker 12: So that's someone come on rush them.
- 26:07Speaker 1: That the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
- 26:11Speaker 11: It was fun as hell.
- 26:13Speaker 2: All right, man, thanks for going all right, door knob,
- 26:16Speaker 2: let's play doorknob?
- 26:17Speaker 1: All right? What's going on? Hey?
- 26:22Speaker 12: What's up?
- 26:22Speaker 7: Romeo?
- 26:24Speaker 12: Are you talking about the game we used to play?
- 26:26Speaker 7: Dumbest kids? Yeah, me and my home plays had a
- 26:29Speaker 7: game we used to play. It's called B B Bridges.
- 26:32Speaker 12: So that means all of us to be.
- 26:34Speaker 10: Together and we're trying to use words without using the
- 26:37Speaker 10: letter B and then if you use the word beat
- 26:40Speaker 10: everybody just get the punch on you until you say
- 26:43Speaker 10: B B Bridges.
- 26:48Speaker 1: That might be the second and stupidest thing I've heard.
- 26:52Speaker 12: You said anything with it be in it, and you
- 26:55Speaker 12: forgot that we were playing B B Bridges.
- 26:57Speaker 7: Everybody, don't just wrap down?
- 27:04Speaker 1: All right, man, you guys are crazy. Oh man, thanks
- 27:07Speaker 1: for telling.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And like slug Bug, we used to play slug bug
- 27:11Speaker 2: in the car, right, I don't think they play slug
- 27:13Speaker 2: bug no more? All right, Michael Bean is here for
- 27:16Speaker 2: the marriage in Family Center six seven fifty one hundred.
- 27:21Speaker 1: That is the phone number.
- 27:22Speaker 9: Good morning, Michael, Good morning.
- 27:25Speaker 1: How are you?
- 27:27Speaker 9: I think I'll make it? You know, I don't know.
- 27:30Speaker 9: So many people have so much to complain about, and
- 27:32Speaker 9: I just I just kind of don't. Thanks. Thanks, have
- 27:35Speaker 9: settled into sort of a nice rhythm in life.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Well, if you're.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Having a great, a great life, then I guess we
- 27:42Speaker 2: don't have to worry about relationships anymore.
- 27:43Speaker 9: Right, Well, I mean if I just want to only
- 27:47Speaker 9: worry about myself. I also I really get a lot
- 27:52Speaker 9: out of helping people with their relationships. After a few sessions,
- 27:56Speaker 9: when you see this couple and they're just the shoulders
- 27:58Speaker 9: aren't like up against their ears anymore as.
- 28:00Speaker 7: They protect their next.
- 28:03Speaker 12: Attack.
- 28:04Speaker 9: Or whatever, and you just see this relaxation, just see
- 28:07Speaker 9: this easiness with each other that probably they once had,
- 28:12Speaker 9: you know, but that rest intentions of it's just so rewarding.
- 28:15Speaker 9: I just feel like that's where it's at.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I want to ask you now, Michael, this is gonna
- 28:20Speaker 2: kind of cross over a little bit into family stuff.
- 28:24Speaker 2: But we're having a conversation I think we have yesterday
- 28:27Speaker 2: or the day before about people hapen to balance their
- 28:32Speaker 2: kids and their spouse. Yeah, somebody was asking me about it,
- 28:37Speaker 2: you know who. But they put it in the terms
- 28:40Speaker 2: of who should come first, which, when you look at that,
- 28:44Speaker 2: it's kind of a I don't know if you can
- 28:47Speaker 2: say it like that, right, you have to everybody has
- 28:51Speaker 2: to come first in some capacity when you're in a
- 28:53Speaker 2: family unit like that, right, eating yourself?
- 28:57Speaker 9: Well, I think when you hear that, a lot of
- 28:59Speaker 9: times somebody is having a hard time getting their needs met,
- 29:02Speaker 9: and so it starts to feel like, well, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 9: it's not just do I come first or second or last,
- 29:09Speaker 9: it's do I ever get a chance? Am I ever?
- 29:12Speaker 9: H you know, kind of on your radar type of thing,
- 29:15Speaker 9: And that's the way it starts to feel, whether it's
- 29:17Speaker 9: actually happening or that kind of doesn't matter because if
- 29:20Speaker 9: you're going through that and that's your perception, then you're
- 29:22Speaker 9: reacting to what it feels like it's happening.
- 29:24Speaker 1: So what do we do about that?
- 29:28Speaker 9: I know, I know, it's a big question, and it
- 29:32Speaker 9: depends on It depends on the couple, it depends on
- 29:34Speaker 9: the situation. There are just too many variables. I can't
- 29:36Speaker 9: give you an answer to that. But the kids coming
- 29:39Speaker 9: along is the second major threat to a relationship. You
- 29:43Speaker 9: know we talked about, Yeah, that whole honeymoon phase wearing
- 29:46Speaker 9: off and you move into this different phase of like
- 29:49Speaker 9: questioning and you're like, how do I fit in here?
- 29:51Speaker 9: And is this love even real? Because I don't feel
- 29:54Speaker 9: that same level of passion I want to. That's the
- 29:57Speaker 9: first thing that challenges a relationship. Kids coming along is
- 30:00Speaker 9: the next thing, and it's a big thing. A lot
- 30:02Speaker 9: of relationships that fail will fail after the first kid
- 30:06Speaker 9: comes along.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Well, when we look at we're adults, Michael, shouldn't.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Adults be able to understand, Hey, we have this other
- 30:14Speaker 2: being that we need to keep alive and make sure
- 30:17Speaker 2: nothing bad happens to and love and protect and keep safe.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Don't adults have to understand that, hey, we need to
- 30:24Speaker 2: be an adult about this. I still love you, you still
- 30:26Speaker 2: love me. You just have to focus our attention here
- 30:29Speaker 2: for now. And but we don't want to take our
- 30:32Speaker 2: attention off.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Each other, right.
- 30:34Speaker 9: I don't know where you get this idea that we're adults, my.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Man, You know.
- 30:41Speaker 9: That I don't know that we ever grow out of
- 30:47Speaker 9: these feelings of sort of like moodiness, a little bit
- 30:50Speaker 9: of like occasional selfishness. We we just we do. We
- 30:54Speaker 9: kind of feel like our world's falling apart. You watch
- 30:56Speaker 9: a little toddler who you know suddenly doesn't learn in
- 31:01Speaker 9: the car with them when they're leaving, just melt apart,
- 31:04Speaker 9: like the whole world is over, and you're like, yeah,
- 31:07Speaker 9: I could kind of relate to that. So I don't
- 31:12Speaker 9: know that we ever really kind of lose that or
- 31:15Speaker 9: kind of become these superhuman beings that can just set
- 31:19Speaker 9: us out our feelings.
- 31:20Speaker 5: We can't.
- 31:20Speaker 9: We just we just always carrying those emotions around with us.
- 31:24Speaker 9: And when we feel like our world is being challenged
- 31:26Speaker 9: or we're losing something, it can it can feel like
- 31:29Speaker 9: it can just feel like a disaster.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Have you ever met a.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Couple, Michael, that are both just kind of selfless, not selfish,
- 31:37Speaker 2: Just what kind of selfless?
- 31:38Speaker 1: Oh I'm that really?
- 31:39Speaker 2: Do actually feel like I'm okay with what you want
- 31:43Speaker 2: to do because I just want to be with you
- 31:44Speaker 2: and vice versa?
- 31:47Speaker 1: Well, I mean, or is that a realistic If they're.
- 31:50Speaker 9: Both like that, they're probably not coming. It's only when
- 31:57Speaker 9: one person is feeling like, you know, hey, I'm not
- 31:59Speaker 9: going to my needs and met I'm trying. I'm given
- 32:03Speaker 9: more than i'm receiving and it's not working for me.
- 32:06Speaker 9: Someone's got will not be working for people before they
- 32:08Speaker 9: start reaching out whenever.
- 32:11Speaker 1: And we'll get to more of this in a minute.
- 32:13Speaker 2: When everybody whenever, anybody says that to you, is that
- 32:17Speaker 2: usually the truth? I Am not getting everything I want
- 32:21Speaker 2: and it's all their fault.
- 32:23Speaker 1: It's all your fault, not mine. Is that ever really
- 32:26Speaker 1: the truth?
- 32:28Speaker 9: It's completely their truth. They have tried everything they know
- 32:35Speaker 9: to do and it hasn't worked everything that they think
- 32:38Speaker 9: should work, and even the things that totally makes sense
- 32:41Speaker 9: to them, Oh you know what, that will probably work.
- 32:43Speaker 9: I'll do that thing that I used to do back
- 32:45Speaker 9: when things are good, and they'll get good again and
- 32:47Speaker 9: then they don't. So yeah, from that person's perspective, it's
- 32:51Speaker 9: exactly how it feels. I'm doing everything and it's just
- 32:56Speaker 9: it's not working.
- 32:57Speaker 7: All right.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Michael Being is there for the Marrigan Family Center.
- 32:59Speaker 2: I want to tell you, Michael, a little bit more
- 33:01Speaker 2: about spouse's you know, husbands, wives, moms and dads, how
- 33:06Speaker 2: how they should be dealing with each other in their
- 33:08Speaker 2: relationship when kids are involved. So Michael Bean is here
- 33:11Speaker 2: for the Marriage and Family Center. Good morning, Michael, Well,
- 33:14Speaker 2: good morning, Okay six six one three two seven fifty
- 33:17Speaker 2: one hundred. That's Michael's number. There's a you know, follow
- 33:20Speaker 2: the steps when you take the when you make the
- 33:22Speaker 2: phone call, and you'll get through. Get through to him, Michael.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Maturity having kids, everybody's getting their knees met or not
- 33:33Speaker 2: because the kids are here.
- 33:35Speaker 1: What are we supposed to do?
- 33:37Speaker 9: I know we were talking off air, and you know,
- 33:39Speaker 9: you were saying, you know, like.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Me, yeah, I can't everybody just be mature like I am.
- 33:49Speaker 9: I really I don't know that it's I don't know
- 33:51Speaker 9: that maturity is the best way to really look at it,
- 33:53Speaker 9: because when you're not getting your needs met, you just
- 33:56Speaker 9: you're not Okay, I don't any maturity, whatever maturity you're at.
- 34:00Speaker 9: It's like almost like, man, I've been feeling these loving
- 34:06Speaker 9: feelings from this person and now they're all just totally
- 34:10Speaker 9: into this baby that came along, and I'm getting nothing,
- 34:14Speaker 9: and I'm desperate. I'm just feeling really like it's almost
- 34:17Speaker 9: like going without air, you know. And they're poling, they're
- 34:24Speaker 9: holding some of the water and they're flailing. No fair
- 34:27Speaker 9: saying to them, oh, be mature, what do you grow
- 34:30Speaker 9: up there?
- 34:31Speaker 1: Is? Come on, Michael, we're adults.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Adults should be under able to understand what is happening
- 34:38Speaker 2: and how to not act like a child. I mean,
- 34:43Speaker 2: I think I'm the last dude on the planet with
- 34:45Speaker 2: common sense and maturity because it just the way you
- 34:49Speaker 2: make that sound, Michael, it just makes it sound like
- 34:51Speaker 2: people are.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Childish.
- 34:55Speaker 9: I guess on that level we kind of are. I
- 34:58Speaker 9: guess maybe we need to be this part of us
- 35:00Speaker 9: that keeps us alive, that is saying, hey, I need
- 35:03Speaker 9: this thing that's not happening. I'm not getting this thing.
- 35:05Speaker 9: I'm not okay, and I can't just like pretend like
- 35:09Speaker 9: things are okay when I'm not getting my needs. Mad
- 35:12Speaker 9: almost I don't know. I'm just like, it makes me
- 35:16Speaker 9: wonder if you've ever had a significant period of time
- 35:19Speaker 9: when you just haven't had those love needs, then you
- 35:21Speaker 9: don't know what that heartache kind of No, why would you?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Why why would you? First of all, first of all,
- 35:27Speaker 1: why would you choose somebody that wouldn't do that?
- 35:29Speaker 2: And second of all, why would you not have that
- 35:30Speaker 2: conversation long before you even get into that position. Well, see,
- 35:35Speaker 2: that's what mature, sensible people do. They have that conversation.
- 35:39Speaker 2: What happens when kids come along? Oh, no, let's just
- 35:41Speaker 2: wing it and then we'll I'll be and then we'll
- 35:43Speaker 2: be mad at each other because I'm not getting what
- 35:45Speaker 2: I want because this toddler needs what they need, and
- 35:48Speaker 2: I'm being ignored by you.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I'm not You're not being ignored.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I mean, that's I guess this is where I say that, Michael,
- 35:54Speaker 2: is the reason I say immature when we talk about
- 35:57Speaker 2: maturity is I know you're not ignoring me because you
- 36:02Speaker 2: don't love me anymore. You're ignoring me because this other
- 36:06Speaker 2: thing that we brought into the world, as this human
- 36:08Speaker 2: being we brought into the planet, needs you more than
- 36:10Speaker 2: I do.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Does that make sense?
- 36:15Speaker 9: I mean, okay, and and then what I just have
- 36:22Speaker 9: to just check it up. I guess. I you know,
- 36:26Speaker 9: you can have that conversation with somebody and very oft
- 36:28Speaker 9: of the conversation goes something like, hey, I'm a little
- 36:31Speaker 9: concerned about what's going to happen with us, and I had,
- 36:33Speaker 9: you know, all the focuses on the baby. Sure, and
- 36:37Speaker 9: and then the answer is, oh, we'll be fine. And
- 36:39Speaker 9: that's kind of the conversation because nobody predicts these late
- 36:43Speaker 9: nights where you didn't sleep a wink, and then during
- 36:46Speaker 9: the day there's the fussing and the changing and the feeding,
- 36:49Speaker 9: and then now I'm exhausted by the time I even
- 36:51Speaker 9: see you. I just want to sleep. Could you please,
- 36:54Speaker 9: babe this baby put the pajamas on and just let
- 36:56Speaker 9: me take a break. Well, you know you're not You're
- 37:01Speaker 9: not for seeing that, so you kind of can't have
- 37:03Speaker 9: the conversation ahead of time.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Well, okay, I don't know. I just I don't I
- 37:09Speaker 1: guess I don't see it. You were adults. I just
- 37:13Speaker 1: see adults.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Seem to stop being childish, especially when it comes to
- 37:16Speaker 2: serious situations in your life.
- 37:18Speaker 1: You know, money problems.
- 37:20Speaker 2: You said, you know what we say the first thing was, Michael,
- 37:23Speaker 2: other than kids?
- 37:24Speaker 7: Was it?
- 37:25Speaker 2: What'd you say the first biggest issue was other than kids.
- 37:29Speaker 9: That initial honeymoon, Pa, Oh.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that wears all.
- 37:32Speaker 2: And now we're not getting everything we want every moment
- 37:35Speaker 2: of the day, which okay, shouldn't you have gotten past
- 37:37Speaker 2: that growing up as a kid? I mean you, you've
- 37:39Speaker 2: even said it in the past, Michael. We teach kids
- 37:43Speaker 2: to to what share and instead of just getting one
- 37:47Speaker 2: for the you know, share your toy, No, let's just
- 37:49Speaker 2: get another toy for the other kids.
- 37:51Speaker 1: So every booth of the people have one.
- 37:53Speaker 2: And shouldn't you learn that though as we get older
- 37:55Speaker 2: that hey, it's you're gonna make some There's gonna be
- 37:59Speaker 2: some changes in the if you're gonna have to change
- 38:01Speaker 2: some of your Is it wrong to say change the
- 38:04Speaker 2: way your needs are met or change your needs?
- 38:06Speaker 1: Is that wrong? Is that just unreasonable?
- 38:09Speaker 9: No, it's reasonable. It's just harder than I think you're
- 38:12Speaker 9: making it seem. I think for a lot of couples
- 38:16Speaker 9: that is like this tangled web. And even if I
- 38:19Speaker 9: try to reach in there to grab one of the
- 38:20Speaker 9: little loose ends of the tangle, I kind of get
- 38:24Speaker 9: my hand slapped. It feels like, oh, well, there's no
- 38:26Speaker 9: way to kind of even approach this.
- 38:29Speaker 1: People are too sensitive. That just too I don't I
- 38:34Speaker 1: don't see them, Michael, My bad. I don't see it.
- 38:37Speaker 2: I just don't see somebody saying, hey, I can't do
- 38:40Speaker 2: this right now because this is more important. So all
- 38:43Speaker 2: of a sudden, I'm gonna be a drama queen and
- 38:44Speaker 2: be upset about everything. You don't let me know more
- 38:46Speaker 2: my relationships over.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And this sucks.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Of course it sucks, but hey, it is what it is.
- 38:51Speaker 2: But does is that the reason to go it's all
- 38:53Speaker 2: over with.
- 38:55Speaker 9: I don't know that people go it's all over with.
- 38:57Speaker 9: I think they go, I'm missing you and miss us,
- 39:00Speaker 9: and man, I think back about, you know, a year
- 39:03Speaker 9: ago or something and how we were and now how
- 39:05Speaker 9: we are now, and it's just this is such a
- 39:08Speaker 9: different life than yeah, I even imagined.
- 39:12Speaker 2: All right, all right, Michael Bean is here defending all
- 39:15Speaker 2: you I don't know, soft insecure into adults, immature adults.
- 39:22Speaker 1: All right, Michael hold on? All right, So Michael being
- 39:24Speaker 1: is here. Good morning, Michael, good morning.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Let me ask you this question when we talk about needs, Okay,
- 39:32Speaker 2: and that's what we were talking about.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Earlier. A couple they have, they have some kids, The
- 39:38Speaker 1: kids needs need to be met.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Husbands and wife needs needs husband and wife's needs need
- 39:44Speaker 2: to be met.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I'm assuming, I'm just guessing.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I'm assuming the majority of families, the wife just turns
- 39:51Speaker 2: into mother mode and her needs become irrelevant to her
- 39:55Speaker 2: for the most part. And but the husband he doesn't
- 40:00Speaker 2: change much. And so now he's over here being a
- 40:04Speaker 2: child and his needs aren't being met. And you're telling
- 40:08Speaker 2: and my theory as well. You know, it's only a
- 40:12Speaker 2: few years of your life. You raise these kids and
- 40:14Speaker 2: then you can get back to being you know who
- 40:17Speaker 2: you are.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Is that really enough?
- 40:23Speaker 9: I don't think it's real. I don't think it's really
- 40:25Speaker 9: I think the thing that you've left out is his needs.
- 40:29Speaker 9: Like you said, she put hers on hold for a while.
- 40:32Speaker 9: She's kind of like, you know, I don't know how
- 40:34Speaker 9: to be Okay, I'm not getting enough sleep, I'm miserable,
- 40:38Speaker 9: but this is part of being a mother, and I'm
- 40:39Speaker 9: just going to wake up tomorrow and keep doing it.
- 40:42Speaker 9: He on the other hand, is like, what has happened
- 40:45Speaker 9: in my world? You know? Where did where did life go?
- 40:49Speaker 9: What do I do? How do I fit in. Some
- 40:52Speaker 9: couples they figure out how to kind of put their
- 40:54Speaker 9: heads together and face the whole. Hey, children are here,
- 40:59Speaker 9: let's move into parent mode together. Some couples kind of don't,
- 41:03Speaker 9: and and some couples figure out, oh, you know what,
- 41:06Speaker 9: we're gonna have to keep out relationship alive in the
- 41:09Speaker 9: middle of all this. Somehow we're going to have to
- 41:12Speaker 9: have mom take the kids for you know, a day
- 41:15Speaker 9: or something, and or build up to that. At first,
- 41:18Speaker 9: it's hard. New moms don't want to let go of their.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Babies for a second, you know.
- 41:22Speaker 9: But over time they can just graduate a little bit
- 41:25Speaker 9: at a time. Okay, well we're just going to run
- 41:27Speaker 9: to the store real quick, and then if you could
- 41:29Speaker 9: just watch the kid, and then you can kind of
- 41:31Speaker 9: just build up your own confidence in their ability to
- 41:35Speaker 9: keep your kid alive.
- 41:36Speaker 7: You know.
- 41:37Speaker 1: But yeah, all joking aside, Michael about this. Parents do
- 41:42Speaker 1: have to figure it out.
- 41:43Speaker 2: If they really love each other and they really want
- 41:46Speaker 2: their relationship to work, you really cannot let your kids get.
- 41:51Speaker 1: In between it.
- 41:52Speaker 2: And when I what I mean by that is moms
- 41:55Speaker 2: can't go oh all like, all I got to do
- 41:57Speaker 2: is focus on this, and I can't focus on you.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Dad have to understand Hey, wait, I got to get
- 42:02Speaker 2: involved in this so I can spend time with her
- 42:04Speaker 2: as well as the kids, and we need to find some.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Sort of balance.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Is that's the reality of it, right, if you really
- 42:10Speaker 2: want to. Everybody just thinks it's going to all come together,
- 42:13Speaker 2: happy family. But I don't know that that's the truth
- 42:16Speaker 2: unless you really are focusing on I need to make
- 42:20Speaker 2: sure her needs are met, his needs are met, and
- 42:23Speaker 2: the kids needs are met all together.
- 42:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 42:25Speaker 9: Yeah, you can't let your kids get between you. You
- 42:28Speaker 9: can't let your new job get between you. You can't let
- 42:31Speaker 9: your school get between you. Whatever is kind of going on,
- 42:34Speaker 9: whatever your new pursuit is, can't take the place of
- 42:38Speaker 9: the relationship without Like we've talked about putting your heads
- 42:43Speaker 9: together and figuring out, okay, well, what's our plan moving forward?
- 42:47Speaker 9: What is this going to look like in a way
- 42:48Speaker 9: that we're both going to be okay with?
- 42:51Speaker 1: But we don't have.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Those conversations with each other, do we until we have
- 42:54Speaker 2: to call you?
- 42:55Speaker 9: Like I said, a lot of times we try, but
- 42:58Speaker 9: all that old baggage or bad relationship in the past,
- 43:00Speaker 9: or even bad moments in our relationship, we come to
- 43:04Speaker 9: the surface the minute we try to start, and then
- 43:06Speaker 9: we get any kind of little negative feedback or whatever.
- 43:08Speaker 9: It puts this kind of into this place of, oh,
- 43:11Speaker 9: here we go again, I'm not going to even be
- 43:13Speaker 9: listened to here, or I'm not being taken seriously, or
- 43:16Speaker 9: I don't matter, or whatever else kind of goes on
- 43:19Speaker 9: in our head that just completely disrupts the conversation. This
- 43:23Speaker 9: is what we do with couples. We help them get
- 43:27Speaker 9: past that moment and get back into the conversation in
- 43:30Speaker 9: a way where there's mutual trust and respect. It's not easy.
- 43:34Speaker 9: It isn't easy at all, but couples can overcome really
- 43:39Speaker 9: bad habits of communication that have just made it impossible
- 43:43Speaker 9: from to have that conversation, and now they can talk
- 43:46Speaker 9: about anything. It's so freeing when you have a partner
- 43:50Speaker 9: that you can bring up whatever's going on with you
- 43:52Speaker 9: and it doesn't come into you know, World War three.
- 43:55Speaker 1: People are so stupid, Michael.
- 43:57Speaker 2: I mean, when that whole time you were just telling
- 43:59Speaker 2: me about dealing with something, all I'm thinking about is, Okay,
- 44:02Speaker 2: we got a new we got a new child. Don't
- 44:07Speaker 2: a mature, intelligent individual like myself would go, look the
- 44:11Speaker 2: dynamic has changed, So maybe I need to understand there
- 44:15Speaker 2: might be some difficulties in communication right now. So I
- 44:18Speaker 2: got to take that into consideration before you just fly.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Off the handle.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I mean, you and I talked, Michael, and you call
- 44:23Speaker 2: me and you you say, hey, I can come on
- 44:26Speaker 2: tomorrow rom and talk. But I'm having this going on
- 44:28Speaker 2: in my family right now. I might be a little this,
- 44:30Speaker 2: or I might be a little sick because I got
- 44:32Speaker 2: a cold. I will handle you in a different perspective
- 44:35Speaker 2: because I understand at this moment you're going through something.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Why are people so stupid that I don't know that
- 44:41Speaker 2: with their own relationships.
- 44:46Speaker 5: I don't know why.
- 44:47Speaker 9: We sort of regress to our most vulnerable state in
- 44:51Speaker 9: the middle of our most significant relationships. But that's what happened,
- 44:59Speaker 9: and that's what like, we go back to the worst
- 45:02Speaker 9: moment in our lives the minute we get some pushback
- 45:06Speaker 9: from somebody who matters that much to us. The truth is,
- 45:09Speaker 9: it's a sign of a lot of caring and connection.
- 45:12Speaker 9: When you talk about that kind of a response to somebody,
- 45:14Speaker 9: you don't have that kind of response to somebody you
- 45:15Speaker 9: don't care about.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I'm not going to argue with you.
- 45:18Speaker 9: You just put him in their place. You just say whatever,
- 45:21Speaker 9: chalk him up. You just kind of thrush your hands
- 45:23Speaker 9: together and say whatever about somebody that you really care about. Hey,
- 45:28Speaker 9: that's when your feelings get all in a yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Michael Venus here for the Marriage and Family Center six
- 45:35Speaker 2: s one three to two seven fifty one hundred. Good morning, Michael,
- 45:40Speaker 2: Good morning. I want to talk to you about cheating.
- 45:42Speaker 2: I know we got a female rinas left. I want
- 45:44Speaker 2: to talk to you about cheating for a second. We're
- 45:46Speaker 2: having a conversation the other day about a guy who
- 45:48Speaker 2: got cheated on by his wife because he was never around,
- 45:50Speaker 2: too busy working, and he kind of took a little
- 45:53Speaker 2: bit of accountability by saying, look, she's right if i'm
- 45:56Speaker 2: you know so, uh, maybe that was the wake up
- 45:58Speaker 2: call he needed, his word's not mine.
- 46:02Speaker 1: And that their relationship should be better.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I think the overwhelming thought with everybody was it's always
- 46:12Speaker 2: the cheater's.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Fault, and where do you go from there? Why didn't
- 46:17Speaker 1: she just leave?
- 46:18Speaker 2: Why did she have to do that something that was
- 46:20Speaker 2: so detrimental to a relationship from the outside looking in?
- 46:23Speaker 1: Right, So, what is your perspective on that.
- 46:26Speaker 9: Michael, Well, there is a that's sort of almost a
- 46:31Speaker 9: predictable pattern when things aren't going right in a relationship.
- 46:36Speaker 9: When things start to not go well, then one or
- 46:40Speaker 9: both partners will start to notice the other people in
- 46:43Speaker 9: their lives. Ye notice coworkers, notice friends' exes, you know,
- 46:49Speaker 9: start to come into their mind again, and gosh, that
- 46:53Speaker 9: relationship when it was good, it was really good. Their
- 46:55Speaker 9: mind goes back to and they sort of compare that
- 46:58Speaker 9: to the stagnant or caustic relationship that they're in right now,
- 47:04Speaker 9: and then their evaluation of their current relationship gets even worse.
- 47:07Speaker 9: Oh my gosh, they're comparing it to this sort of
- 47:10Speaker 9: fantasy relationship that they've already created with this other person.
- 47:14Speaker 9: So there's this kind of mental avalanche that happens when
- 47:18Speaker 9: things aren't going well in a relationship and your mind
- 47:21Speaker 9: starts to turn to other people. That's the thing to
- 47:24Speaker 9: really kind of guard yourself against against that. You know, Hey,
- 47:28Speaker 9: the grass is greener over the fence, kind of thinking that,
- 47:30Speaker 9: instead of trying to take care of my own lawn,
- 47:35Speaker 9: look at how green my neighbor's lawn is and focus
- 47:39Speaker 9: on that. That's what starts really getting us into trouble.
- 47:42Speaker 9: But I don't know how much of that was going on. Again,
- 47:45Speaker 9: this is not somebody I've ever even talked.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Of, so I don't know the details in this hypothetical scenario.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Is it easier for somebody to go that route than
- 47:57Speaker 2: it is to go the wait? Let me try to
- 47:59Speaker 2: fix it out with my partner, with my spouse, is it?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Do we do?
- 48:04Speaker 2: Human beings tend to try to take the easier route,
- 48:07Speaker 2: even though long term it could be harder.
- 48:10Speaker 9: Well, we again, we we think we've already done everything
- 48:14Speaker 9: we know to try to fix it and it didn't work.
- 48:17Speaker 9: We think that all the avenues of even try to
- 48:20Speaker 9: approach it with the person aren't working. They're just not
- 48:22Speaker 9: open or receptive to trying that. In our mind, we're
- 48:26Speaker 9: just convinced that they said no, I don't want to
- 48:29Speaker 9: talk about it, and so that means we don't get
- 48:32Speaker 9: to ever talk about it. So the discussion's over. So
- 48:35Speaker 9: it kind of I don't think people sort of move
- 48:39Speaker 9: on from the relationship that they feel like there's hope for.
- 48:42Speaker 9: I think people get discouraged first and they feel like, oh,
- 48:46Speaker 9: there's there's no hope here, so I'll look for hope
- 48:49Speaker 9: somewhere else do.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Oh, I just now that you said that, I totally
- 48:55Speaker 2: lost my train of thought about it. When it comes
- 48:58Speaker 2: to cheating, we always say everybody from the outside looking
- 49:06Speaker 2: in always says, well, just leave, just leave, just le
- 49:09Speaker 2: What I mean, it's obviously easy for you and I
- 49:12Speaker 2: to say that, Well, not you, because you're in the
- 49:14Speaker 2: in the business, but it's obviously easy for me or
- 49:16Speaker 2: anybody else who's not emotionally tied to that relationship to
- 49:20Speaker 2: go just leave.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Why didn't you just leave?
- 49:22Speaker 3: Why?
- 49:23Speaker 1: Why is it so difficult because of our emotional ties
- 49:25Speaker 1: to this person or the change or what.
- 49:28Speaker 9: Yeah, And quite frankly, I think that a lot of
- 49:31Speaker 9: people sort of realize that, uh, cheating is sort of
- 49:36Speaker 9: a reality. You know, They've done research to show that
- 49:41Speaker 9: a lot of people cheat. This is not an exception
- 49:44Speaker 9: kind of a thing. This is a lot of that
- 49:46Speaker 9: humans kind of tend to do. And so I think
- 49:49Speaker 9: deep down when people kind of realize, you know, if
- 49:51Speaker 9: I had been in that situation, maybe even I would
- 49:54Speaker 9: have done the same thing. And when you kind of
- 49:56Speaker 9: have that perspective, then it's kind of like, well, well,
- 49:58Speaker 9: why do I want to just from in something? Just
- 50:01Speaker 9: because they did something human.
- 50:05Speaker 2: And one last thing, Abatael before I get you out
- 50:06Speaker 2: of here, about that when we've always had this conversation,
- 50:09Speaker 2: at least, I've always believed anything you do and I
- 50:12Speaker 2: think you believe it too.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Anything you do behind your spouse's back is cheating.
- 50:16Speaker 2: And you have these emotional conversations at work with coworkers,
- 50:21Speaker 2: and they that your whiye or your husband would be
- 50:25Speaker 2: devastated to hear that you're talking about with coworkers or
- 50:30Speaker 2: other people.
- 50:31Speaker 1: And a lot of people.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Think that that could be worse than just having sex
- 50:38Speaker 2: with somebody because you're lonely or because you know and
- 50:41Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, that's for everybody else to decide
- 50:44Speaker 2: on how they feel about it.
- 50:45Speaker 1: But there are a lot of ways.
- 50:47Speaker 2: To I think cheating is very kind of one of
- 50:50Speaker 2: the some of the one of the worst things you
- 50:51Speaker 2: can do to somebody because it really does break trust.
- 50:55Speaker 1: And respect. So but do you But can people overcome it?
- 51:03Speaker 9: Gosh, not so hard because you've already kind of set
- 51:06Speaker 9: up a scenario where somebody's hiding something from that person,
- 51:10Speaker 9: so that already tells you that they don't have trust.
- 51:13Speaker 9: That the relationship could kind of handle that truth or
- 51:17Speaker 9: that openness or whatever. That's the very relationship that maybe
- 51:22Speaker 9: couldn't handle it to one where you're keeping secrets, the
- 51:24Speaker 9: one where you're kind of trying to do something. I'm
- 51:26Speaker 9: hoping they don't find out. We're already saying something about
- 51:29Speaker 9: the strength of that relationship. Aren't you kind of saying
- 51:32Speaker 9: this is not something that I could bring to the table,
- 51:34Speaker 9: this level of unhappiness, or that my thoughts or feelings
- 51:38Speaker 9: are kind of starting to wander, are starting to have
- 51:42Speaker 9: thoughts about other people. If you can't say that to
- 51:44Speaker 9: your partner and have that relationship absorb the threat of that,
- 51:50Speaker 9: then how much relationship do you really have there?
- 51:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 51:53Speaker 2: All right, Michael, Now that we brought everybody down, or
- 51:55Speaker 2: I guess I brought everybody down because I brought it down,
- 52:00Speaker 2: I'll talk to you next week, Michael being six six
- 52:03Speaker 2: one three two seven fifty one hundred right, Okay, that's right,
- 52:10Speaker 2: and maybe next week we'll talk about something fun. Let's
- 52:14Speaker 2: talk about hotels and airbnbs and verbos and all the
- 52:17Speaker 2: places that you stay nowadays. Now, I have never a
- 52:22Speaker 2: lot of you guys are going on vacation. Some of
- 52:24Speaker 2: you guys are going on vacation for a week's at
- 52:26Speaker 2: a time, I've stayed in an Airbnb. I go to
- 52:30Speaker 2: hotels whenever I stay out of town. I've never stayed
- 52:32Speaker 2: at Airbnb, even if I'm staying longer than I don't know.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Maybe they're cheaper.
- 52:36Speaker 2: I have no idea, but all of the negative things
- 52:39Speaker 2: I've heard about airbnbs over the years makes me not
- 52:43Speaker 2: want to go in. And I could be wrong about it,
- 52:45Speaker 2: but you know that's where I'm at right now. I
- 52:47Speaker 2: do want to ask you this. You ever had a
- 52:50Speaker 2: bad hotel stay, a bad Airbnb stay? And the reason
- 52:55Speaker 2: I say that is because when it comes to the internet,
- 52:59Speaker 2: they can make anything good. They can doctor up any
- 53:02Speaker 2: pictures you go online. You're trying to find something, and
- 53:06Speaker 2: I'll tell you why. And this has nothing. The house
- 53:09Speaker 2: could be great. I have no idea. I've never been
- 53:11Speaker 2: in it. But a few years ago, I was driving
- 53:14Speaker 2: over this overpass here, you know the Truckston Avenue. That
- 53:17Speaker 2: overpass that when you get past the library, there's an
- 53:22Speaker 2: overpass right goes over the train. I think it's a train,
- 53:25Speaker 2: or yeah, I think it's the train. Well, right on
- 53:28Speaker 2: a street next to that overpass, somebody put an Airbnb. Now,
- 53:34Speaker 2: I don't know if it's still there. I just remember
- 53:36Speaker 2: driving by and seeing the sign that's an Airbnb. And
- 53:39Speaker 2: the reason I said is because we live in Bakersfield,
- 53:41Speaker 2: we know what part of the city that is. We
- 53:44Speaker 2: know and the house could have been great, it could
- 53:45Speaker 2: have been beautiful.
- 53:46Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 53:47Speaker 2: But somebody coming out of town can go to that
- 53:51Speaker 2: and not know where they're staying, and it'd be a
- 53:55Speaker 2: totally different perspective for them. They could have thought they
- 53:58Speaker 2: were getting this beautiful place because of the pictures, and
- 54:01Speaker 2: this an amazing part of town, and that's what you get.
- 54:05Speaker 2: And like I said, once again, I have no idea
- 54:07Speaker 2: if it's still an Airbnb, I have no idea if
- 54:10Speaker 2: it's a if it's beautiful inside or not. All I'm
- 54:16Speaker 2: saying is you never know what you're getting till you
- 54:19Speaker 2: get there, right.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Already?
- 54:22Speaker 2: Four two five, four seven seven. I mean the same
- 54:26Speaker 2: thing happened. Yeah, when you travel anywhere, you just never know.
- 54:30Speaker 2: So you ever had a what happened? You ever get
- 54:32Speaker 2: a bad spot, you ever go on vacation, you ever
- 54:35Speaker 2: stay somewhere and you're like, oh my god, this is
- 54:37Speaker 2: where we're at. You ever have a hotel horror story? Yeah,
- 54:40Speaker 2: we're talking about hotels, maybe about airbnbs.
- 54:43Speaker 1: You ever have a horror story or what? Good morning?
- 54:45Speaker 9: Hell?
- 54:45Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 54:47Speaker 12: What's going on?
- 54:48Speaker 7: Romeo?
- 54:48Speaker 12: Yeah, I was just hearing a thing about getting a
- 54:51Speaker 12: bad place to stay at. It's a story not me personally,
- 54:55Speaker 12: but I was driving uber in San Diego, and you know,
- 54:59Speaker 12: I picked up a couple from the airport and I
- 55:02Speaker 12: was taking them to their destination. As we got off
- 55:05Speaker 12: the freeway, I mean it's basically that area was just
- 55:08Speaker 12: pobeless town, you know. And you know, I looked at
- 55:13Speaker 12: him like, hey, everything okay. You know, they look kind
- 55:15Speaker 12: of shocked and looking around outside the window, and they're like, no,
- 55:19Speaker 12: we just bought you know, a place here, one of
- 55:22Speaker 12: the high rises, New high Rises, and the high rise
- 55:26Speaker 12: is beautiful. It's just the area they were buying it
- 55:28Speaker 12: at was not good.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:30Speaker 12: And they yeah, they were coming from Texas. They bought
- 55:33Speaker 12: it online, never visited the place, nothing, so they didn't
- 55:36Speaker 12: know what was around there. So I got off the
- 55:40Speaker 12: freeway and I'm.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Like, oh, man, Like I said, man.
- 55:45Speaker 12: Yeah, it was right across the street from Petco Park
- 55:47Speaker 12: and everything.
- 55:48Speaker 2: But yeah, oh, I lost them all right inporteen five, four, seven,
- 55:53Speaker 2: and seventh.
- 55:54Speaker 1: That mean it might be a nice area.
- 55:56Speaker 3: Now.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I know they ran.
- 55:58Speaker 2: I know there were a lot of homeless there now,
- 55:59Speaker 2: but I think they got them out recently, the last
- 56:02Speaker 2: few years already four two, five, four or seven seven.
- 56:05Speaker 2: I mean, that's a whole other conversation. Purchasing something online.
- 56:08Speaker 2: You don't know what you're gonna get. Hey, rome let
- 56:11Speaker 2: me tell you about a hotel that I stayed at.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Now this is not a horror story, but my wife
- 56:17Speaker 2: and I were at a hotel over at Pismo and
- 56:22Speaker 2: she jumped in the shower. I was putting things away
- 56:25Speaker 2: the top drawer of one of the dressers. I found
- 56:28Speaker 2: nude photos of some woman what looked to be in
- 56:32Speaker 2: the hotel on the bed in the shower.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Romeo, And there must have been a whole stack of them.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Whoever must have stayed there before had left them, and
- 56:43Speaker 2: I showed my wife.
- 56:44Speaker 1: We got a big kick out of it.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Oh well, here's my question. By the way, I got
- 56:52Speaker 2: a couple of questions with that story. One that's crazy,
- 56:54Speaker 2: and that's funny that somebody left their nude photos, because
- 56:57Speaker 2: you never know what goes down in a hotel room.
- 57:00Speaker 2: The second thing is was the room cleaned? Because why
- 57:02Speaker 2: didn't the cleaning person find those photos when they cleaned
- 57:06Speaker 2: the room. I'm just saying, although I will tell you this,
- 57:10Speaker 2: I found a knife one time at Aria. I'm staying
- 57:13Speaker 2: at Ario. One time I found a knife. And that's
- 57:17Speaker 2: a whole nother thing. Man, what goes on? You never
- 57:20Speaker 2: know what goes on in the room before you got there,
- 57:23Speaker 2: right alrighty four two, five, four, seven to seven.
- 57:27Speaker 1: So what do you got?
- 57:27Speaker 2: You got a hotel horset or maybe you found something
- 57:30Speaker 2: in a hotel. They always say check the Bible. There
- 57:33Speaker 2: might be money in it more than how what's going on?
- 57:35Speaker 7: Throw me on?
- 57:37Speaker 6: Hey what up?
- 57:37Speaker 5: Brother?
- 57:38Speaker 7: So check it out?
- 57:39Speaker 10: And my lady we first got together, you know, that
- 57:41Speaker 10: was the thing. The Telly's okay, so you know one
- 57:47Speaker 10: time we go, we don't get what we don't get win,
- 57:50Speaker 10: I'm unloading it. You know, she's still bunk in the
- 57:52Speaker 10: car and grabbing some stuff out. I'll open the door.
- 57:56Speaker 10: There's a I can't say she's a hooker, but she
- 57:59Speaker 10: was in there taking a shower and I was like,
- 58:05Speaker 10: well damn. And then like it was it was It
- 58:13Speaker 10: was normal business like. She thought I must have been
- 58:16Speaker 10: the client or something coming in next. But I was
- 58:20Speaker 10: about to tell my girls out up there, and.
- 58:21Speaker 5: I was in there.
- 58:25Speaker 10: I'm not a happy team.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Well let me tell.
- 58:28Speaker 2: You this, now that you brought that up, I think
- 58:31Speaker 2: that's a little more common than you think. I was
- 58:34Speaker 2: in a golf resort in Napa a few years back
- 58:39Speaker 2: and I opened the door and the guy was laying
- 58:42Speaker 2: on the bed, you know, in his in his in
- 58:45Speaker 2: his chonyes, and he was u and his wife was
- 58:49Speaker 2: in the shower.
- 58:50Speaker 1: They were It wasn't a hooker situation. It was his
- 58:52Speaker 1: husband and wife.
- 58:53Speaker 2: And I walk in and the wife is coming out
- 58:56Speaker 2: of the shower as I'm walking in, and everybody's like, oh.
- 58:59Speaker 7: Wait, wait, wait, wait wait, we'll bobies.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Well we just laughed about it.
- 59:08Speaker 2: We just said, oh man, they messed up and went
- 59:10Speaker 2: back to the front desk.
- 59:12Speaker 9: But it.
- 59:16Speaker 10: Happened.
- 59:17Speaker 2: It probably happens more often than you think.
- 59:24Speaker 1: That's hilarious. That's funny, all right, my man, Thanks for calling.
- 59:29Speaker 2: I mean, hotels are you know their community property, right,
- 59:33Speaker 2: Sometimes you show up and find something, People leave stuff behind.
- 59:36Speaker 2: I mean, it's just it happens, right already four, two, five, four,
- 59:41Speaker 2: seven to seven talking about hotels airbnbs. I mean, you
- 59:45Speaker 2: ever been to somewhere crazy? Ever found something you? Ever
- 59:48Speaker 2: had a bad one? What happened? Mor than?
- 59:50Speaker 5: How?
- 59:50Speaker 1: What's going on? This is Corona brus soccer and what's up?
- 59:54Speaker 8: Are you talking about the hotel?
- 59:56Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 59:56Speaker 2: Four story?
- 59:57Speaker 1: Yeah, what's okay?
- 59:59Speaker 11: It doesn't re a crazy horror story. This was more
- 1:00:02Speaker 11: like I picked the wrong motel and now lay story.
- 1:00:05Speaker 11: This is crazy. One day a couple of years ago,
- 1:00:08Speaker 11: we went to the beach from my husband's birthday.
- 1:00:10Speaker 8: For the weekend.
- 1:00:11Speaker 11: Okay, we're there, we get the room. I tell my husband, hey,
- 1:00:14Speaker 11: let's go down the street right here to this little
- 1:00:16Speaker 11: store like the liquor store to buy snacks for the
- 1:00:18Speaker 11: room kids. It was my mom, my brother with us. Check.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: No.
- 1:00:22Speaker 11: As soon as my husband gets off the store, walks
- 1:00:23Speaker 11: in the store, we hear gunshots. So my husband's walking
- 1:00:29Speaker 11: awkquol and I was like, hurry up. He was like
- 1:00:31Speaker 11: what they were just shooting guns right now? We were
- 1:00:33Speaker 11: in Inglewood talking about this. I ended up finding out
- 1:00:36Speaker 11: we were in Inglewood. What the hotel we go to?
- 1:00:40Speaker 11: Because my brother goes, oh, yeah, I know where there's
- 1:00:41Speaker 11: a cool motel. It's the motel SICS. So we get there.
- 1:00:45Speaker 11: Oh my god, it was like the plugs house, like literally,
- 1:00:50Speaker 11: like you know, something was going on there. There was pimping,
- 1:00:53Speaker 11: there was hose, they were selling weed and all kinds
- 1:00:56Speaker 11: of like what there. I told my brother, like, so
- 1:00:59Speaker 11: we end up getting the room anyways? Oh my god.
- 1:01:02Speaker 11: We could just hear people coming in and out all.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Night, but you still end up getting the room.
- 1:01:08Speaker 11: Yeah yeah, because it's like we didn't do we didn't
- 1:01:11Speaker 11: feel we were like not unsafe, you know what I mean.
- 1:01:13Speaker 11: It was just like oh wow, I mean they're pimping
- 1:01:15Speaker 11: and pimping and holes around here to be like who cares?
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: Like we've seen a lot of stuff.
- 1:01:19Speaker 11: And then like, well, you know, my brother smokes a
- 1:01:21Speaker 11: little bit weed whatever, you know what I mean. Somebody
- 1:01:23Speaker 11: I was like, oh, go get your weed downstairs.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: So we had you are, aren't you from Delano anyway?
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: So you're used to it?
- 1:01:32Speaker 11: Well yeah no, And then you were going to check out.
- 1:01:36Speaker 11: I could hear arguing, and I knew my brother was
- 1:01:38Speaker 11: gonna go, like go smoke somebody whatever else. I so
- 1:01:41Speaker 11: I can hear art. You want to look out the
- 1:01:43Speaker 11: window a lady arguing with like somebody in a car
- 1:01:46Speaker 11: she throws the soup on the car over you nap.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Sounds like a great time for the kids, all right, Yeah.
- 1:01:54Speaker 11: But I was just like, oh my god, I cannot
- 1:01:56Speaker 11: believe we ranted this hotel room.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: How long did you stay there?
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: For? Two days?
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Oh my god? All right, thanks for calling. I'd a left.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: I'm trying to think if I ever left a hotel room,
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: if I ever walked, if I ever it was so
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: bad that I went somewhere else, I don't think, so,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: I don't know. Already fourteen pot four or seven to
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: seven talking about those hotel horror stories. You know, hotels
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: you've rented, you didn't know what you were getting into, or.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: Maybe you found something in a hotel. Something was going on.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: I mean I found stuff, right, yo, Rome, We stayed
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: at a hotel this one time, and the night before
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: an event, and we didn't get home till late.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: So we were we were crashing in.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: We were crashing in, and the cleaning lady knocked on
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: the door about eight in the morning, asking if we
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: wanted room service. We had to sign out on the
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: door saying do not disturb. So the entire the entire
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: time around. We were like, no, we're still sleeping to you.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Not even thirty minutes later, she came back and knocked
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: on the door again. At this point, yes, we were
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: upset and I had a few words with her that
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: we were that were not pleasant. When we checked out,
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: we told the front desk about it, and they told
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: us we weren't the only people to complain about this
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: lady that day. I don't know if it was the
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: end of her shift or what, but she definitely wanted
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: to clean these rooms. They just for one night, though.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Oh that's kind of cool. Though, at least they comped
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: you for the night right already four two pop four
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: seven seven. Gosh, I'm trying to think of some of
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: the crazy things at the hotels. Already four two pop
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: four seven to seven Yil Romeo. I took the family
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: down to San Diego for a few days last summer, me,
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: my wife, and our three kids between seven and sixteen.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: Turns out the hotel had a bunch of swingers staying
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: at it.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: I had no idea.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I don't know if it was a convention or what
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: was going on. They all just decided to stay at
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: the same hotel. Me and my family were at It
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: was an eye opening experience, let me tell you.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: For the kids.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Well, that's the other thing. You never know who stayed
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: at the hotel the same as you are, right. I
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: was at a hotel one time. I stayed at what
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: was I Avela? It might have been a Aveala beach
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: suitets or Avela beach something. Right across from the beach
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: there was an Avala, Yeah, I think it was Avela.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: And the guy next to me, the guy next to
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: me was with his new girlfriend who he was cheating
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: on his wife with the wife just happened to show
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: up with her new boyfriend the same weekend. So yeah,
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: it was kind of awkward. And I wouldn't even Hey,
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: they weren't even friends of mine. They were from up north.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: But apparently the four of them showed up not knowing
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: that the other was going to be there.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: And yeah, it was kind of funny, to be honest
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: with you.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Already four two, five, fours, seven to seven, we're talking
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: about hotel stays, airbnbs. I don't know you ever find anything,
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: you ever anything crazy happen?
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, what's up?
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Rome? I used to stay at the cheap hotels to
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: save money when I would travel. Now that I have
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: a career where I get called to these cheap where
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: I get called to these cheap hotels, I definitely spending
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: the extra money for something way better, if only you knew. Well,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: that's what we're trying to know, is we're trying to know.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: Why aren't you telling us what's happening already? Four two
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: five fours seven to seven. Hey, Rome, earlier you were
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: talking about things that happened in hotel rooms before you
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: get there.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: I used to work at a hotel.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: You have no idea how many people have died while
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: at hotels.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: You never know if you're staying in a room that
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: somebody died last in or not well fair enough.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: I did well, okay, I mean that's uh, that's insane, right,
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: You just never know. It's funny how we stay at hotels,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: no matter how clean, I mean, no matter how expensive
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: or how cheap, you just never know what's going on
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: before you got there. You have no idea. It's unless
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: you find something that shows you know.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Alrighty four two.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Five four seven to seven, you got a crazy hotel story.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Anybody talking about these hotels?
- 1:06:42Speaker 13: Right?
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Hotels airbnbs. What have you found? What have you seen?
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Were they good? Were they bad? What happened?
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Everybody, I think has an experience, especially when you go
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: out of town, right and you don't know what part
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: of town you're staying in.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: You don't know. They make them all look good, right.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: You don't know the city you're going to.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: You don't know where the if the hotel you're going
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: to or the airbnb you're going to is in a
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: safe neighborhood.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: You just you don't know already four two five, four
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: seven to seven yo.
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: Rome.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: This isn't crazy or anything, but whenever I want to
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: get some there are two hotels downtown you can go
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: to just hang out at the bar. Bakersfield. People don't
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: understand how many women are in town for work. Here
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: in Bakersfield. I always find some woman who's in town
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: for work sitting at the bar and she's ready to
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: go back up to her room.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: You know what's messed up is I actually know a guy.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: I don't know if he's listening right now, but I
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: know a guy and I know what you're talking about
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: because I know a guy who we were going somewhere.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: We were all going to a concert or we were.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: All going to something I don't know what, mess have
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: been a concert and uh we all went to the bar,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: the hotel bar for a drink before the concert. He
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: met a woman who was in town on business, went
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: to the concert with us. He said, I'll see you
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: guys later. If we saw him the next day, you
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: guys would be surprised. How many women are sitting at
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: a hotel bar in town on business and they don't
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: even they could be married, and they're still ready to
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: get down with you.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: All right, so let's talk about those hotel stays.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: I don't know, airbnbs where you just stayed, right, kind
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: of crazy things happened to you.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Hey, Romeo, let me tell you what happened last year.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: The wife and I we stayed at an airbnb at
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: passer Obols for the Mid State Fair.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: It was a real nice property. The lady was renting.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Out her back house during the fairtime as an airbnb.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: A beautiful property, nice pool, very clean. I woke up
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Saturday morning about five am. She was doing yoga naked
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: next to the pool. I couldn't believe it. And she
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: was hot, rome older lady but hot, okay, uh so
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: I sat there room drank my coffee while the wife slept.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: The next day, we got up early again and there
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: she was again, doing naked yoga by the pool. I
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: could see you right out the window. That's funny, all right,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Oh hey, good morning, Rome. You're still doing crazy hotel stories.
- 1:09:33Speaker 9: Yeah, if you got one.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 1:09:36Speaker 7: And we one of my buddies from La. He has
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: a place here and they did a big, big event
- 1:09:42Speaker 7: at his house for his birthday. And so I have
- 1:09:44Speaker 7: my cousins come down from La and everything, and they
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: rented to they rented to place other off of where
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: I grew up at and they they're there and there,
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: and they're they're telling me about the plates and they're like, yeah,
- 1:09:54Speaker 7: we're having anses with the neighbor. You know, they had
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: got the room the house for like four nights. He
- 1:09:59Speaker 7: goes he were giving up issues just so we parked
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: in front of their house. And now they're complaining all this.
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: They're having drama with the dude. And I'm like, who
- 1:10:06Speaker 7: is he? Bro might knew this fool. So I call
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: him up and I'm like, hey, what's up, bro? My
- 1:10:10Speaker 7: cousins staying next to you in that R and B
- 1:10:12Speaker 7: and everything He's like, oh no, man, I didn't even
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: realize that. My cousin said that when they went back,
- 1:10:17Speaker 7: they had all they say, My buddy had bought them beer.
- 1:10:20Speaker 7: He was cooking, got him that fout and tell her, hey,
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: come on, come on, you got to come on over right.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: I know you guys were family, you know what I mean.

- 1:10:27Speaker 7: to do we grew up in that little neighborhood, you
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: know what I mean.
- 1:10:29Speaker 12: And they were just tripping out of there, you know what,
- 1:10:32Speaker 12: because a dude there was a whole different guy after that.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Manny, that's funny.
- 1:10:37Speaker 7: All loaded up my barbecue girl back in the truck,
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: and the guy goes, hey, my buddy told me, y'a,
- 1:10:41Speaker 7: I'll help you load it up. Man, don't worry about
- 1:10:42Speaker 7: I got.
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: You, you know.
- 1:10:44Speaker 7: Yeah, that's how it is when you know a couple
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: of people.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Bro, all right, thanks for going. Yeah, well there you go.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Alrighty four, two, five, four, seven and seven. I have
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: heard though, by the way, and.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Some of these uh, some of these people who are
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: putting airbnbs in neighborhoods, they're not even houses that they
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: live in. They're just buying houses in these nice neighborhoods,
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: and they're putting be's in them, and the neighbors are
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: getting pissed. I have heard that before, all right, importin
