Latest / The Next Round / The Next Round: College Football Upset Alert: Alabama-Tennessee, Ohio State-Indiana & SEC Playoff Chaos | Hour 2
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, hour number two here as we roll on
- 0:03Speaker 1: on the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet on
- 0:05Speaker 1: Sport and State. Before we get back into college football,
- 0:08Speaker 1: SEC Basketball Media Days is going on. We'll talk about
- 0:11Speaker 1: the media poll and all that coming up in the
- 0:13Speaker 1: next round, our local segment coming up. But Forrester just
- 0:16Speaker 1: gave us an update. Brooks is down there. Brooks, Texas
- 0:19Speaker 1: as well. God, one of the new coaches. Forrester, who's
- 0:23Speaker 1: one of the new coaches if we were still in
- 0:25Speaker 1: television media that we'd be dying to talk to today
- 0:28Speaker 1: in the SEC?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Who would it be?
- 0:31Speaker 3: I would imagine folks were really wanting to hear from
- 0:34Speaker 3: Will Wade.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Well, everybody comes to SEC Media Days.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Where's Will Wade?
- 0:39Speaker 3: Still in Baton Rouge.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Why is he not coming?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Because of the weather.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Oh, fogged in. Couldn't get the PJ out. Fog in
- 0:48Speaker 1: Baton Rouge. Not coming to SEC Media Days. Does that
- 0:52Speaker 1: sound like an excuse?
- 0:53Speaker 2: I mean, I can't really be an excuse because if
- 0:55Speaker 2: people are in Baton Rouge, they'll know if there's fog
- 0:57Speaker 2: or not, right?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but how quick does fog burn off? Can he
- 0:59Speaker 1: come in later today? Can we adjust? What do you
- 1:02Speaker 1: think it spoils down to? The ongoing fight between LSU
- 1:06Speaker 1: and the SEC?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Is there a lighthouse in Baton Rouge that's out? I've
- 1:12Speaker 4: never heard of somebody being trapped in because of fog.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I mean, fog happens, but it burns off pretty quick
- 1:18Speaker 1: here in the South.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Doesn't last all day. Brown, you've been paying attention to
- 1:24Speaker 1: LSU kick times lately. We all know what's been going
- 1:28Speaker 1: on with LSU and their roster to start off the season.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And now the first big conference event that LSU could
- 1:35Speaker 1: be represented at. Will Wade's fogged in and his team
- 1:39Speaker 1: can't come to SEC Basketball Media Days.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Help me out here.
- 1:44Speaker 1: When you say LSU kick times, they announced yesterday, obviously,
- 1:47Speaker 1: that the Auburn game is going to be an 11
- 1:49Speaker 1: Central kick.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 1: That means State at 11 Central, Auburn at 11 Central.
- 1:53Speaker 1: If I read right, and I would love to credit
- 1:56Speaker 1: who I read this from, but I forgot. One of
- 1:57Speaker 1: those is a home game. One of those is a
- 1:58Speaker 1: road game.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Correct.
- 1:59Speaker 1: But if I read right, it is the first time
- 2:01Speaker 1: in the history of LSU football they've played back-to-back 11 a.m.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Kicks. That's right.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Can you– do you have the schedules, future schedules in
- 2:10Speaker 1: front of you? For LSU?
- 2:11Speaker 2: No, the SEC. SEC.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I just want to ask about their last two home
- 2:15Speaker 1: games to see if there's a chance. I just need
- 2:17Speaker 1: the SEC schedule. Alabama and Texas. Well, those are the two,
- 2:20Speaker 1: but I want to know who else is playing in
- 2:22Speaker 1: the SEC those days. Oh, yeah, I can pull that
- 2:24Speaker 1: up for you. So Alabama-Texas is Saturday, November 7th, Dunaway,
- 2:27Speaker 1: so we'll need that. And then the very next week
- 2:30Speaker 1: is November 14th. Both those games were reserved in the
- 2:34Speaker 1: preseason for the 2.30 to 7 o'clock Central Time window.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So that means it could either be a 2.30 kick
- 2:40Speaker 1: or a primetime kick, a night game at Tiger Stadium.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Okay, so what week?
- 2:44Speaker 1: So November 7th, Alabama and LSU. What else is in
- 2:47Speaker 1: the conference that day? November 7th?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 1: In the conference that day.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Let me get down. In the conference that day, we
- 2:57Speaker 1: have in the early window, Arkansas-Auburn. Afternoon, evening, Oklahoma-Florida. afternoon, evening, Alabama, LSU, afternoon.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Evening, Georgia, and Ole Miss. Yeah, that could be your
- 3:09Speaker 2: prime time. Yeah, that's your best one. The other ones
- 3:11Speaker 2: have lost a lot of steam.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they'll put Alabama, LSU at 2.30, so
- 3:14Speaker 1: they won't give them a night game there, and they'll
- 3:16Speaker 1: put Georgia, Ole Miss. Kentucky, evening, guaranteed evening is Kentucky, Tennessee.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It's not even slotted anywhere else. Can you go to
- 3:23Speaker 1: the next week when you've got Texas and LSU? So
- 3:30Speaker 1: here's your primetime games reserved. Texas is at LSU. You've
- 3:35Speaker 1: got Missouri at Georgia. That's a sneaky good.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Game right there. Missouri keeps winning.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Absolutely. Texas at LSU, Tennessee at Texas A & M,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Florida at Kentucky, South Carolina, Arkansas. The only thing you could...
- 3:46Speaker 1: I mean, ESPN will play this game only so far.
- 3:49Speaker 2: That's right.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Texas at LSU is most likely.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah. You probably got to put that primetime. You have to.
- 3:54Speaker 1: But boy, if they put that at 2.30, they've really
- 3:56Speaker 1: sent a message. Florida and Kentucky, though, is a guaranteed
- 4:01Speaker 1: evening start.
- 4:02Speaker 2: It is. Well, so is Missouri at Georgia. Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Which, again, if Missouri keeps winning, Missouri's 13th right now.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I can't remember. Wouldn't that be more fun if that
- 4:10Speaker 2: was Georgia at Missouri?
- 4:11Speaker 1: I got Missouri-Georgia afternoon or evening.
- 4:13Speaker 3: It is.
- 4:14Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So they could play it at prime time. I'm just
- 4:16Speaker 1: looking at Missouri's 13th right now, and their upcoming before
- 4:21Speaker 1: that Georgia game is at Ole Miss this week.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Tough game for them. At Arkansas.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Texas at Georgia. They're not going to be 13 when
- 4:28Speaker 2: that game rolls around.
- 4:30Speaker 1: They've still got to go to Ole Miss and host Texas.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Our friends at Hard Rock Bet, all that to say
- 4:36Speaker 1: Will Wade and LSU playing it safe, still in Baton Rouge, fog,
- 4:40Speaker 1: not coming to SEC media days, it looks like, for
- 4:42Speaker 1: basketball here in Birmingham today. Read into that whatever you
- 4:46Speaker 1: want to read into it. Or maybe it's just fog,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and maybe we're reading too much into it. That being said,
- 4:53Speaker 1: this show being brought to you by our friends at
- 4:54Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet, Hey, a new offer for you right now.

- 5:32Speaker 1: for you. Let's go bad first. Or maybe you like it.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Coastal Carolina throwing out a 90s-themed uniform.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Always bad uniforms.
- 5:40Speaker 1: 90s-themed uniform this weekend.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? Back to the 90s. That's a little... Yikes. No,
- 5:48Speaker 2: that's a little Saved by the Bell. That's what I
- 5:50Speaker 2: was going to say, Saved by the Bell.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So that's, you know, the Pastels are kind of 80s.
- 5:55Speaker 2: They started filming, Tyler, you might know this, Miami Vice
- 5:58Speaker 2: 85 yesterday. With Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Oh, so they started doing the new Miami Vice.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the new Miami Vice started. Walton Goggins is on it, too. Oh,
- 6:09Speaker 2: is he really? That's cool.
- 6:10Speaker 1: We just lost Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell. Yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 1: that's sad.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Apparently he had been kind of recluse at the end
- 6:16Speaker 2: of his life.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Hey, so these do look very Saved by the Bell,
- 6:19Speaker 3: but their hype video for them is Fresh Prince.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Oh, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Never saw their football team.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, a little bit.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Now that you bring that up.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Do we have a Kelly Kapowski welfare check?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Was that Tiffany Amber?
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Oh, I follow her on Instagram. She's doing perfectly fine.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Oh, is she? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:39Speaker 1: She's tremendous.
- 6:40Speaker 4: By the way, is she cashing in on the nostalgia
- 6:42Speaker 4: these days?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Oh, you know she is. She's tremendous. Hey, I saw
- 6:44Speaker 2: all three of our commercials were running last night. I
- 6:46Speaker 2: don't know if you guys saw all three.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I saw Megan.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw Sidney Sweeney, and I saw
- 6:50Speaker 2: Miley Cyrus.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Let me tell you, though. Y'all are a little critical
- 6:55Speaker 1: on the Megan Fox. Oh, LT. It doesn't look human.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Her hips. She's so skinny in the waist, and then
- 7:01Speaker 1: her hips and her backside. Now, different strokes for different folks,
- 7:04Speaker 1: but I thought that was a little.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Out of whack.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Let me guess.
- 7:06Speaker 2: You can sling a dead cat and hit a Megan
- 7:08Speaker 2: Fox in Floribama? Probably.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Well, I don't know about that, but probably. Definitely if
- 7:15Speaker 1: I went down to Coastal. Because those hips are going
- 7:19Speaker 1: to be settled up eating some fried crab claws. That's right.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Just for reference, can you pull up Megan Fox in
- 7:27Speaker 1: the row commercial? Yeah, because I honestly cannot envision. This
- 7:30Speaker 1: is the one I cannot envision. She's in the tight
- 7:32Speaker 1: red suit.
- 7:32Speaker 2: How can you not?
- 7:33Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess I'm taking a piss. While
- 7:35Speaker 1: he's pulling it up, I watched the baseball. Every commercial
- 7:37Speaker 1: break last night, every commercial break last night of the
- 7:41Speaker 1: baseball had the F1 team.
- 7:45Speaker 2: The F1 team. Oh, yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You guys know we're not self-driving cars. It played every commercial.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Did it really? Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Look at the hips there. And that's not doing it justice.
- 7:57Speaker 1: She's not walking there.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 1: That's not my favorite. I'm just going to be honest
- 8:01Speaker 1: with you. It's definitely three of the three that you
- 8:04Speaker 1: brought up. I mean, you said it was three, though, right?
- 8:07Speaker 2: I agree it is three, but you're talking about a
- 8:10Speaker 2: three-team parlay, strong as new rope. It's paying more than
- 8:14Speaker 2: six to one.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I'll go ahead and say this, and I won't start XXXY,
- 8:19Speaker 1: my own T-shirt brand, but I feel like now I
- 8:21Speaker 1: should say I like all bodies, and you should feel
- 8:23Speaker 1: good in your body no matter what you look like. Oh,
- 8:25Speaker 1: that's fine.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Unless you're Harrison Mevis.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just saying.
- 8:28Speaker 2: If he was making kicks, it would bother you a
- 8:29Speaker 2: little bit. I just don't like.
- 8:30Speaker 4: How she's still trying to look like she did in 2007.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I would say that what typical I mean, women
- 8:37Speaker 2: like to do that, though, right? They look really good
- 8:39Speaker 2: in their 20s or 30s. You want to continue to
- 8:41Speaker 2: look youthful.
- 8:42Speaker 4: And I don't know if there's like some new trends
- 8:44Speaker 4: or something going on, but it looks horrible now.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Some some people like Clayface, the new movie out in
- 8:50Speaker 1: theaters now.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, out next week.
- 8:53Speaker 1: No, next week.
- 8:54Speaker 2: My bad.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Thicker hips. You're a kicker for the Rams or her?
- 8:59Speaker 2: I mean, it's going to, like, hers are purposely, like,
- 9:02Speaker 2: these women pay for these BBLs.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And, like, I think she's got one. I don't want to,
- 9:07Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Is that a big butt lift?
- 9:10Speaker 2: It's a Brazilian butt lift. Close.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I mean, it's basically the same thing.
- 9:15Speaker 2: You call it either thing.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Okay, here is the good uniform of the week. Look
- 9:20Speaker 1: at this. Cal's got a Grateful Dead-themed uniform this weekend,
- 9:25Speaker 1: including the Cal logo, the Grateful Dead logo on there, and...
- 9:29Speaker 1: The whole uniform is fire as they get ready to
- 9:31Speaker 1: play this weekend. Of course, on the back helmet plate,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you get the bears walking.
- 9:37Speaker 2: How can you go out if you're Tosh Lapoi and
- 9:39Speaker 2: preach violence when you've got dancing bears?
- 9:42Speaker 1: That does feel like it's in conflict. You could preach.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Are you watching the process on ESPN? You can do
- 9:48Speaker 1: a little Alabama getaway.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'll tell you, Cal has got another one of these.
- 9:52Speaker 2: They can't decide on the colors. Are we going.
- 9:54Speaker 5: To go black?
- 9:55Speaker 2: And yellow, or are we going to go kind of
- 9:57Speaker 2: the blue and yellow? I think the blue and yellow
- 9:59Speaker 2: with the bear looks the best. Of course, I'm not
- 10:02Speaker 2: a deadhead guy. I don't think they're ever black.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I just think it's that Yankees blue.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it is. I think it's a dark navy. All right.
- 10:10Speaker 1: That gets us to upset alert today. Let's do the sirens.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Show me the flashing lights as we do the upset alert.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Every week, On Tuesdays, we try to pick upsets. Outright
- 10:22Speaker 1: winners benefit more than just the covers. It's our weekly
- 10:25Speaker 1: upset alert. It's traditionally one of my favorite parts of
- 10:28Speaker 1: the show, especially when everybody's hot. I just don't like
- 10:31Speaker 1: to be hot myself. I like it when everybody's hot.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And last week, we set a record. Let's see the
- 10:37Speaker 1: rules first before we see the standings. The rules, minimum
- 10:41Speaker 1: spread plus four and a half, five points for the cover,
- 10:44Speaker 1: five points and the spread for the outright win. So
- 10:50Speaker 1: if you cover, you get five, and then you get
- 10:53Speaker 1: the extra points. And last week, Forrester, show us the standings.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And there's five of us that do this, and four
- 11:00Speaker 1: of us had outright winners. And then Brown also got
- 11:04Speaker 1: a cover.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Look.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Four points separate first and last place. That's pretty remarkable,
- 11:09Speaker 1: the last week. I just noticed that I was in first.
- 11:12Speaker 1: When you showed me that earlier, I didn't notice that part.
- 11:14Speaker 2: There was a local bookmaker years ago when we did
- 11:16Speaker 2: this on Terrestrial Radio, and we had one season. I
- 11:20Speaker 2: have no idea when it was. We were really hot,
- 11:22Speaker 2: all three of us, but he just played our plays
- 11:24Speaker 2: every single week. If you're doing it right now and
- 11:26Speaker 2: you're playing some of these live dogs, you're making some money.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I'm going to show you somebody did that last week. Two, four, six, eight.
- 11:32Speaker 1: We've got nine outright winners in six weeks.
- 11:36Speaker 2: That's pretty incredible. Yeah. And I'm telling you. Those are
- 11:40Speaker 2: big odds. Miami of Ohio was up 28 on Cincinnati.
- 11:43Speaker 2: If I would have had this thing, it would probably
- 11:44Speaker 2: be over at this point because I was catching 16
- 11:46Speaker 2: and a half.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Well, we almost went five for five with outright wins because,
- 11:51Speaker 3: you know, Brown.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Had Nebraska.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, nearly nailed Nebraska. Oh, 17-6 in the fourth quarter,
- 11:57Speaker 1: six plays later, Indiana's in the lead or Nebraska would
- 12:01Speaker 1: have made this amazing. but it's still pretty cool. Here's
- 12:04Speaker 1: a buddy of mine right here. Uh, he sent me
- 12:07Speaker 1: the screenshot of his plays.
- 12:09Speaker 2: That's our three. That's just the three of us. He
- 12:11Speaker 2: just played the points on all three of them in
- 12:14Speaker 2: a parlay.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 1: They're pretty well right there. That worked out good.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Think about if he would have done money line
- 12:19Speaker 2: on that. Boy, that would have paid heavy. Yeah. Amazing. Okay.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Here's our picks this week for week seven. Uh, I'll
- 12:29Speaker 1: start us off. Um, because we have duplication. Brooks is
- 12:35Speaker 1: on mine as well, so we never know who everybody's picking.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm going with the Cal Bears. Quarterback, doesn't matter. I'm
- 12:43Speaker 1: taking Cal, going with the Cal Bears, plus the 9.5
- 12:47Speaker 1: this week, and let's go.
- 12:50Speaker 2: That is fantastic.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Not a bad Grateful Dead skull.
- 12:53Speaker 2: No, the skull's pretty good. No, the skull's not bad.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I wonder if the bears would come into focus once
- 12:57Speaker 2: you're on enough drugs.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you get some acid in you.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Well, I also knew the quality of our cameras at
- 13:02Speaker 1: a distance. The bears were going to look pretty good.
- 13:05Speaker 1: They look like a blob over here.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of color there. That's not bad. That's really,
- 13:09Speaker 2: really good. Nine and a half. I was wondering why
- 13:11Speaker 2: you were calling it a good uniform. Now I see why.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I like that you set up the uniforms before this.
- 13:16Speaker 2: No, I'm with him. I think that helmet's awesome. Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Well, you've got to like the Grateful Dead.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Do you guys like this better than the Oregon Grateful
- 13:24Speaker 4: Dead tribute?
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I don't think you have to like the Grateful Dead
- 13:28Speaker 3: at all because I don't. I just think it's a
- 13:29Speaker 3: cool-looking helmet.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Well, I'm with Lance.
- 13:31Speaker 1: It's hard for Tosh LaPoi to say, we're going to
- 13:33Speaker 1: go out there and impose our will and, like, coach,
- 13:36Speaker 1: we've got the Grateful Dead. I mean, it's just weird.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Do you think any of.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Those players have ever heard a Grateful Dead song?
- 13:43Speaker 2: No.
- 13:43Speaker 1: That whole crowd has. You can do the speech this way, though.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You can say, hey. Let's go out there and let's
- 13:49Speaker 1: go hard for 60 minutes, just like one Grateful Dead song.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Because it is a jam band. It'll go on for
- 13:56Speaker 1: days sometimes. All right, so that is mine and Brooks,
- 13:59Speaker 1: who also chimed in separately, not knowing, to take the
- 14:02Speaker 1: Bears plus nine and a half. Let's go to you next, LT.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Who do you have?
- 14:07Speaker 2: I am going to the Big 12. I know Baylor
- 14:09Speaker 2: has played really, really good football. They're going against the
- 14:12Speaker 2: Klandy man. This offense for Sonny Dykes has been busted.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I did this on the fly. My lizard has been
- 14:17Speaker 2: run over. The TCU is all off, but I'm taking
- 14:21Speaker 2: TCU plus six and a half against Baylor. It's not bad.
- 14:24Speaker 1: No, it's not bad at all. The lizard is really good.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Well, it's a frog.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I mean, Brent would tell you to waste the purple
- 14:29Speaker 1: and color in the letters.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I know.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I didn't want to– blow the load of the entire purple.
- 14:34Speaker 2: You will see, I don't know how many markers the
- 14:37Speaker 2: Brown Bandit used today. And I know we're going to
- 14:40Speaker 2: get to it.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Oh, he did it while I was giving him show notes.
- 14:42Speaker 2: It was more than three.
- 14:43Speaker 1: This is when we go to Forrester next, usually. Forrester,
- 14:47Speaker 1: who's no longer in the league, but we're all separated
- 14:50Speaker 1: by four. What do you have for us this week,
- 14:51Speaker 1: AI Forrester?
- 14:52Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Hopefully I don't get us canceled here.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We are going to the fun belt. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay.
- 15:04Speaker 3: We're going Troy, Louisiana. The Trojan's going to use some
- 15:10Speaker 3: kind of inflatable shield there to thwart the sword attack.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Is that a kid's toy? Yes. Sure.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Some of us called it a bounce house.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Back in the day. Yeah. With a sword, too.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very risky.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So Troy's going down to the stabbing cabin, if you will.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I think Louisiana, just for the record, I think it
- 15:34Speaker 2: is the highest STD state in the lower 48. So
- 15:37Speaker 2: Troy needs to visit more often. I think it is. Tyler,
- 15:41Speaker 2: can you confirm that? I think the highest STD rate
- 15:44Speaker 2: is in the state of Louisiana. I think New Orleans
- 15:46Speaker 2: probably skews it a little bit. Well, Kiffin is there.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Mississippi and Louisiana are the two highest.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Oh, there you go.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Which, to be fair, I think I could have assumed
- 15:58Speaker 4: that without a study.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Wait, where are we before we start throwing stuff?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Oh, we're going to be bottom two.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Not one or two.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Okay. Just like education, we're not one or two. We're seven.
- 16:10Speaker 1: We're seven.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Top ten. We're Alabama's ring.
- 16:14Speaker 1: As I always like to say, when you're listening to
- 16:17Speaker 1: Grateful Dead Music Kids, cheer for Troy. hey the brown
- 16:21Speaker 1: bandit's back what's up guys hey you let us down
- 16:24Speaker 1: last week we everybody had an outright winner but you
- 16:27Speaker 1: welcome to the party gosh bandit i gotta let you
- 16:30Speaker 1: guys win sometime or you'll end this segment i know
- 16:32Speaker 1: how done away is when he gets behind it'll be
- 16:35Speaker 1: like ah do people ever pay attention to this anymore
- 16:37Speaker 1: i'm not gonna let that happen so i had to
- 16:39Speaker 1: let you catch up a little bit there thank you
- 16:41Speaker 1: jerry garcia we've we've already uh We've already questioned how
- 16:45Speaker 1: many markers you used in your pick this week. I
- 16:48Speaker 1: noticed the marker police was looking at my drawing earlier.
- 16:53Speaker 1: You haven't done a satchel game yet, a hide-a-satchel game.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Not yet. That's later in the year. We normally do
- 16:58Speaker 2: that in November. We're in October right now. Okay.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Or as Fox calls it, Foxtober.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Is that what they're calling it? You know, we worry
- 17:05Speaker 2: about the environment and the ozone, and if markers are
- 17:07Speaker 2: doing anything to the ozone, the brown bandit is killing it. Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 2: We've got a hole right here above the facility here.
- 17:13Speaker 2: We do. We do.
- 17:15Speaker 1: You know what's going to fall through that hole is
- 17:16Speaker 1: money this week, because I'm about to give you a
- 17:18Speaker 1: game that if they were playing this in Tyler's apartment,
- 17:21Speaker 1: it would smell just like that crap he had in
- 17:23Speaker 1: his apartment not long ago.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Wow. Did you ever get that fixed? Yeah, I mean,
- 17:29Speaker 2: it's mostly fixed. Yeah, mostly.
- 17:31Speaker 1: If you dropped a nugget on your bathroom floor, would
- 17:33Speaker 1: you eat it?
- 17:35Speaker 2: No, no chance. Do you remember the smell? Yes. That's
- 17:37Speaker 2: what this game's going to smell like.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Somehow, it's on ESPN2. I don't even know how they
- 17:42Speaker 1: put this game on ESPN2.
- 17:44Speaker 2: But Arkansas. Oh, wow. Thank you. Pretty good. Some good shading.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Apparently used too many markers. Good-looking hog. Thank you. Scott
- 17:53Speaker 2: likes my hog.
- 17:54Speaker 1: The drawing, too. Scott likes my hog. Yeah, Brown did.
- 17:58Speaker 1: When Brown was here, not the Brown Bandit, he was like, yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: not the first time I've heard that. Because I, too,
- 18:04Speaker 1: said nice hog.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Nice hog.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I said I appreciate every time he would pop up
- 18:08Speaker 1: during the pandemic. Somebody would send me a text like, hey,
- 18:11Speaker 1: did you see this foul ball catch? And it would
- 18:13Speaker 1: be that drawing of that hog right there every time.
- 18:15Speaker 2: That's my favorite. Arkansas is at Vanderbilt.
- 18:18Speaker 1: They're catching six and a half points in the Music City.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Tyler Johns.
- 18:23Speaker 2: We don't need them. We don't need them.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Arkansas gets their first win. If it was in my backyard,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I wouldn't go watch it.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It feels like your other alter ego is starting to
- 18:31Speaker 2: really fade Vanderbilt as well.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Vandy's in trouble. They're not playing defense. I don't know
- 18:37Speaker 1: why you're still talking like that.
- 18:38Speaker 2: They're my stock down. I don't either. I think when
- 18:40Speaker 2: anybody puts a mask on, I think they've got to change.
- 18:42Speaker 2: They've got to get a little more gravelly.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I don't know where the segment starts and where the
- 18:45Speaker 1: segment ends.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I never know.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Well, I hate this voice of yours because it rubs
- 18:49Speaker 1: off of me when I'm doing play-by-play in high school. Touchdown, Vestavia!
- 18:54Speaker 2: Normal voice.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Touchdown, Vestavia!
- 18:56Speaker 2: Ground banded voice. Is that how you do it?
- 18:59Speaker 1: For some reason, I did the other night, and I
- 19:02Speaker 1: think it's because of this segment.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Why don't you put on an accent this week, just
- 19:05Speaker 4: for fun?
- 19:06Speaker 1: Well, I would use a Cajun accent, but if I
- 19:08Speaker 1: scratch my crotch, people would wonder.
- 19:10Speaker 2: No, do the Russian.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I could do British. Pretty good there, right? No, not really.
- 19:24Speaker 1: All right, that's our upset alert. Around the board, Brooks
- 19:26Speaker 1: and I are on California. LT's on TCU. The Brown
- 19:31Speaker 1: Bandit's on the Hog.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Big ol' Hog!
- 19:33Speaker 1: And then Forrester is no love, no glove. No glove,
- 19:39Speaker 1: no love. Troy down at Louisiana. And that's our upset alert.
- 19:43Speaker 1: This is the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet
- 19:45Speaker 1: on sport and state as we roll on here on
- 19:49Speaker 1: sport and state the next round presented by hard rock
- 19:53Speaker 1: bet before brownie tells you about perfect 10 um i
- 19:57Speaker 1: don't have the guy's name it was on social media
- 20:00Speaker 1: let me make sure forrester didn't put it as a
- 20:01Speaker 1: cut here he did not Did you ever get the
- 20:05Speaker 1: Winston State-Salem guy lining the field off?
- 20:08Speaker 2: That was incredible. I can't believe you've seen the video, too.
- 20:12Speaker 2: This is amazing.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Winston-Salem State. And this is a real college before a
- 20:18Speaker 1: real game. The guy's eyeballing.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Watch.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Watch, he'll take the three steps to measure three yards.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And look how crooked those lines are and how big
- 20:27Speaker 1: they are. And he's got a spray paint can just
- 20:29Speaker 1: sprayed off the hash marks. He's eyeballing the field here.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I think my TC Horned Frog is bad, but it
- 20:37Speaker 2: might be better than.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Look how curved they are.
- 20:40Speaker 2: He walks it off.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And now he's like, okay. He's only got three stripes
- 20:44Speaker 1: between the five, by the way, here. Now he's got
- 20:46Speaker 1: to squeeze one more in. They're laughing at him from
- 20:49Speaker 1: the press box.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Is that going to be one yard? Look.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Now I put it in there like, no, man.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Look how curved they are. Yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And he's done this. And he's catching his breath every
- 20:57Speaker 1: time he bends over because he's already made it across
- 20:59Speaker 1: the 50 doing this. Winston-Salem State actually sent out a
- 21:04Speaker 1: release last night saying that they will recommit themselves to
- 21:12Speaker 1: game day operations and field conditions.
- 21:14Speaker 2: You've got to save up for NIL, right? Hey, are
- 21:15Speaker 2: they the Rams?
- 21:17Speaker 5: Yep.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I believe they are.
- 21:23Speaker 2: That's kind of a.
- 21:24Speaker 1: You like that demonic look?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it really... What's the red?
- 21:27Speaker 1: If it was your Ram Blue, you'd be like, okay.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I don't know. There's something wrong with the face, too.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Red horns? Why did he curve them all, though?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Why did he not look back and say, oh, wait
- 21:37Speaker 1: a minute, I'm curving these. Let me be a little
- 21:39Speaker 1: more careful. Well, it's hard to do. Well, I'm well aware,
- 21:42Speaker 1: but he's doing it on every one. He looks like
- 21:44Speaker 1: a soccer player. Like we're about ready to do a
- 21:46Speaker 1: penalty kick and that guy pulls out his little mace can.
- 21:49Speaker 2: There's no way they played the game with that.
- 21:51Speaker 4: 100%.
- 21:51Speaker 1: This is pregame. Like the watch when it zooms back out,
- 21:55Speaker 1: there's already people milling around and there's people in the
- 21:57Speaker 1: press box. The people in the press box are shooting
- 21:59Speaker 1: this laughing. Yeah, this is shot from the seat. Look
- 22:01Speaker 1: right there on the 41. Look how close the 41
- 22:04Speaker 1: is to the 40. I don't think they're accurate.
- 22:08Speaker 2: No, that's not even a foot apart. No, no.
- 22:11Speaker 1: He's running out of space.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Wow.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I saw this last night on TikTok, of course.
- 22:18Speaker 4: How does he not notice that every single one of
- 22:21Speaker 4: those lines is curved?
- 22:23Speaker 1: I don't think he cares, Tyler. I think he's trying
- 22:25Speaker 1: to get this done. I think like any good player,
- 22:28Speaker 1: he's trying to get to the end zone. I mean,
- 22:29Speaker 1: you guys are being so critical. The guy's doing the
- 22:31Speaker 1: best he can do here.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I ain't good.
- 22:33Speaker 4: I mean, at this point, what's the point of even
- 22:35Speaker 4: counting out the steps and getting down and doing it?
- 22:39Speaker 2: Just eyeball it. There are certain jobs a lot of
- 22:42Speaker 2: people can just, if they put their mind to it,
- 22:44Speaker 2: they can do it. This ain't for him.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I really do think that, to Tyler's point, I could
- 22:49Speaker 1: have just gone, without even stepping it off, I could
- 22:52Speaker 1: have done a better job just eyeballing, trying to fit
- 22:54Speaker 1: five in between. What I would have done... Well, you
- 22:56Speaker 1: only fit four in between.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Oh, you know what I mean.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Four in between.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Hey, did the hashes on SoFi look different? Yeah, a little, yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I would have done the hash closest to the main
- 23:05Speaker 1: line first and then worked in from there. You see
- 23:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you would have gone... So you would have gone
- 23:11Speaker 2: like 21 to 24.
- 23:12Speaker 4: You just split the middle each time.
- 23:14Speaker 2: 21, 24. And then, yeah. Okay, how about this? How
- 23:16Speaker 2: about get a couple of interns and get a yardstick? Well,
- 23:20Speaker 2: you know, Lance.
- 23:21Speaker 1: That would have taken some time.
- 23:22Speaker 2: And you also could have one of the cutout where
- 23:26Speaker 2: you just lay it down and spray it.
- 23:28Speaker 1: You mean like in high school?
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Perfect 10 Mortgage. That was not Perfect 10 Field Management
- 23:34Speaker 1: by any stretch of the imagination, but Perfect 10 Mortgage.
- 23:37Speaker 1: is where you can apply in about 10 minutes, close
- 23:39Speaker 1: in 10 days. That is the whole idea of mortgage

- 23:43Speaker 1: finish right from your phone. No stack of paperwork, no
- 23:46Speaker 1: sitting across the desk from a banker who talks down
- 23:48Speaker 1: to you. Checking your options will not ding your credit score.
- 23:51Speaker 1: You find out where you actually stand before you commit
- 23:53Speaker 1: to anything.
- 23:55Speaker 2: They allow you to date.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The rate and marry the house.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Get the house you want now.
- 23:59Speaker 1: If you're buying new construction, ask about the builder program,
- 24:02Speaker 1: builder-funded rate buy-downs that can get you a rate the
- 24:04Speaker 1: bank simply cannot print. Again, date the rate, marry the house.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Get the house you want now, refinance when rates come down.
- 24:10Speaker 1: That's what you get with Perfect 10 Mortgage. Straight talk

- 24:30Speaker 1: and MLS 2297 Equal Housing Lender. All borrowers must qualify.
- 24:34Speaker 1: This advertisement is not a promise to make alone. Perfect
- 24:37Speaker 1: 10 Mortgage in pursuit of a more perfect mortgage. I
- 24:40Speaker 1: want to ask the question, is this week overrated or
- 24:46Speaker 1: underrated on their TV schedule? Like, obviously, No. 4 Ohio
- 24:50Speaker 1: State and No. 5 Indiana is the biggest game in
- 24:53Speaker 1: the country this week. That should be your No.
- 24:55Speaker 5: 1 game.
- 24:55Speaker 2: But, I mean, Florida, Texas... In that same window and statement? Well,
- 25:00Speaker 2: I mean, Florida-Texas is like if you want to watch
- 25:03Speaker 2: a train wreck. Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Because, I mean, something bad is going to come out
- 25:06Speaker 1: of this. I think it'll be a close game just
- 25:08Speaker 1: because of Texas. I saw On3 Sports said that the
- 25:11Speaker 1: second biggest game in the country behind Ohio State and
- 25:13Speaker 1: Indiana is Alabama-Tennessee, 6 versus 14. Does it feel that
- 25:17Speaker 1: way to you guys?
- 25:18Speaker 2: I think it's more Notre Dame-BYU. Just based on the
- 25:20Speaker 2: fact that Notre Dame doesn't have a lot of potential pitfalls,
- 25:23Speaker 2: this will probably blow you guys away. First, maybe not.
- 25:28Speaker 2: First ever top 10 matchup in Provo. Ever.
- 25:32Speaker 1: That does blow me away. Well, I guess that would
- 25:35Speaker 1: be ever. It's in Lavelle's Edwards Stadium history, so I'm
- 25:39Speaker 1: sure they're just... not going naming rights, they're going in
- 25:42Speaker 1: Provo itself.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Yeah. That is surprising. And the first time game day
- 25:45Speaker 2: has been there since 2009, so there is a big
- 25:47Speaker 2: buzz around the game. If L.J. Martin was healthy, I
- 25:50Speaker 2: would feel a lot better about BYU's opportunity to win
- 25:52Speaker 2: that game, but that's got to be the number two game.
- 25:54Speaker 2: But there's some under the radar. I mean, Missouri, Ole Miss,
- 25:57Speaker 2: I think that's more important than Alabama, Tennessee.
- 25:59Speaker 1: And that's 13-9 playing each other.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Somebody's going to absorb a devastating loss in that one.
- 26:05Speaker 1: If you want to find potential, and I am not
- 26:08Speaker 1: kidding when I say this, potential... College football playoff implications,
- 26:12Speaker 1: both Wisconsin at UCLA and Oklahoma State at Houston have
- 26:15Speaker 1: that in the primetime window.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Oh, the primetime window is great. It's not underrated.
- 26:19Speaker 1: It's the most pink I've done on my TV schedule
- 26:21Speaker 1: to date. Ohio State, Indiana, Florida, Texas, Mississippi State, LSU, Virginia, SMU.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Because SMU still has the one.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Loss, right? It's lost some steam, though, because of Virginia.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Like in the offseason, I think we looked at this
- 26:34Speaker 1: game and thought, hey, they may be playing for the
- 26:35Speaker 1: right to face Miami. And the way the ACC is going,
- 26:38Speaker 1: I don't think you could say that, right? But all
- 26:40Speaker 1: four games I just gave you there are the early window.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Then the midday window is Auburn, Georgia. That's number one, Georgia.
- 26:46Speaker 1: A lot of people are projecting a massive beatdown. More
- 26:49Speaker 1: on that coming up in the next round. Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri,
- 26:52Speaker 1: Ole Miss. I mean, brand name, Penn State, Michigan, 230,
- 26:56Speaker 1: but that's off the radar, right?
- 26:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And then in the primetime window, Florida State, Miami is
- 27:01Speaker 1: off the radar. But Notre Dame, BYU, Wisconsin, UCLA, Kentucky, Oklahoma,
- 27:07Speaker 1: Oklahoma State, Houston. And then late night, you get Utah, Colorado.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Wake Forest, California, and Nebraska and Oregon. And that Nebraska-Oregon
- 27:17Speaker 1: game has significance now as well. Well, technically, I mean,
- 27:21Speaker 1: Nebraska's only got the one conference loss, so they're still
- 27:23Speaker 1: alive in the Big Ten race, and Oregon is desperate
- 27:26Speaker 1: for a win. They've got one conference.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I don't know, Dante, more what the status is, but
- 27:30Speaker 2: can you imagine if Raiola's got to start against his
- 27:32Speaker 2: old team?
- 27:33Speaker 1: That's right. A little drama there, him coming back.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Especially as bad as he played last week.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's interesting.
- 27:38Speaker 2: But you're right.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I mean, SMU at 4-1 is a team we'd, don't
- 27:41Speaker 1: pay any attention to, but they've only got the one loss.
- 27:44Speaker 2: My favorite window is our top right, those four, the
- 27:47Speaker 2: 630 window. The primetime window. Yeah, those four games are really,
- 27:51Speaker 2: really good.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Notre Dame at BYU, Wisconsin at UCLA. That's ABC, NBC.
- 27:55Speaker 1: SEC Network, Kentucky at Oklahoma. Good game for the SEC Network.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And then Oak State at Houston on Fox.
- 28:00Speaker 2: You know what's crazy? The best opportunity to double-digit win,
- 28:03Speaker 2: I think, is the top 10 matchup with Notre Dame
- 28:06Speaker 2: beating BYU.
- 28:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Kirby Smart... Kirby Smart got asked yesterday about the Kirk
- 28:13Speaker 1: Cignetti effect in college football. And we have six first-year
- 28:19Speaker 1: coaches ranked right now in the top 25. It's only
- 28:25Speaker 1: the sixth time that's happened in the AP poll history
- 28:29Speaker 1: that we've had six first-year coaches ranked in the top 25.
- 28:32Speaker 1: That's from Brandon Marcello. Marcello tells me the last time
- 28:37Speaker 1: it happened was 2022. Before that, it was 2001. Before that,
- 28:41Speaker 1: it was 1990, 1989, and then in 1951. And now
- 28:46Speaker 1: this year, six first-year coaches right now ranked in the
- 28:49Speaker 1: AP Top 25.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Is it a little bit of luck? Is it these
- 28:55Speaker 2: are just really good coaches? Or is it transfer portal
- 28:58Speaker 2: and the immediate impact of these guys?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I just think it's the world we're
- 29:01Speaker 1: living in that you can– With the transfer portal, you
- 29:06Speaker 1: can have success right away. You don't have to go
- 29:07Speaker 1: in and have a three-year recruiting plan. You can go
- 29:10Speaker 1: in and have a three-day recruiting plan. I mean, if
- 29:13Speaker 1: you get hired at a place that's got resources. Some
- 29:15Speaker 1: of these guys didn't. I mean, Bob Chesney is one
- 29:17Speaker 1: of these guys. We don't view UCLA as having tremendous resources,
- 29:21Speaker 1: do we?
- 29:23Speaker 2: No.
- 29:23Speaker 1: In fact, they're not as much in debt as some
- 29:26Speaker 1: other schools we've been reading about, but they're in debt.
- 29:29Speaker 2: What do you think they're averaging? I know this right
- 29:32Speaker 2: now on on attendance this year they're undefeated.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Uh ucla i'm gonna say 17 000 for some reason
- 29:39Speaker 1: gotta be higher than that right it is higher than
- 29:42Speaker 1: that you wouldn't open up the rose.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Bowl for them yeah what is it 31 446 70
- 29:49Speaker 2: 72nd nationally behind nine group 16 well i.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Was thinking about this yesterday though they i mean they're
- 29:54Speaker 1: the they've got this win at oregon now they're one
- 29:57Speaker 1: of the talks of the country where are they ranked
- 29:59Speaker 1: I mean, is there a chance they don't sell out
- 30:04Speaker 1: the Rose Bowl? but they'll get close to selling out.
- 30:07Speaker 1: But they don't open up the entire Rose Bowl. They
- 30:09Speaker 1: tarp some of that off for UCLA games.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Imagine this scenario, though. Do you think there's a chance.
- 30:13Speaker 1: They could sell out what they allow? I think Wisconsin
- 30:17Speaker 1: will travel pretty well out there, too.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Wisconsin will travel well. I mean, all those, let's get
- 30:20Speaker 2: out of the Midwest, let's go to L.A., let's spend
- 30:23Speaker 2: a week. And it's in the Rose Bowl, which means
- 30:25Speaker 2: so much to those people. Imagine this scenario, 9-2 USC
- 30:27Speaker 2: at 9-2 LSU. to end the season.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Or a playoff spot, potentially.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Winner probably gets an at-large without having to play in
- 30:35Speaker 2: the Big Ten championship game.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Would that sell out?
- 30:37Speaker 2: That would sell out.
- 30:38Speaker 1: First time that game's had meaning in a long time.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It used to sell out back in the day.
- 30:42Speaker 2: It would sell out. That scenario, 100%. Yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I thought that was interesting. And then Kirby Smart got
- 30:49Speaker 1: asked about the Kirk Cignetti effect. Listen to Kirby Smart yesterday.
- 30:55Speaker 1: You tell me if you think this is true, what
- 30:57Speaker 1: Kirby says.
- 30:58Speaker 6: Kirby Golish is in his first year, and it's three
- 31:01Speaker 6: and two. I know your first year you went eight
- 31:04Speaker 6: and five. But I'm wondering, is there kind of a
- 31:08Speaker 6: Signetti effect where people are expecting too much these days?
- 31:13Speaker 6: Or have things changed? Have the dynamics changed where it
- 31:16Speaker 6: is easier to turn around a program pretty quickly?
- 31:23Speaker 5: I'm still waiting on the first Signetti effect in the SEC.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:27Speaker 5: So it's tough, tough, tough sledding week in, week out.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Maybe it could happen with the right guy bringing the
- 31:37Speaker 5: right players with him, but it's tough. Key to all
- 31:43Speaker 5: that is quarterback, and Coach Sinead's done a tremendous job
- 31:47Speaker 5: developing or bringing or getting quarterbacks, and that's a big
- 31:53Speaker 5: part to every offense's or team's success.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So the Cignetti effect in the SEC, he's waiting to
- 31:58Speaker 1: see that. It's in the process right now. Are we close? Well,
- 32:01Speaker 1: Will Stein I don't think can land the plane. But
- 32:03Speaker 1: if he did, if he did, that would be the
- 32:07Speaker 1: definition of the Cignetti effect.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And then people will say, hey, they had a beneficial
- 32:10Speaker 2: schedule and blah, blah, blah. It doesn't matter. They're Kentucky.
- 32:13Speaker 1: That's what Cignetti did the first year. And it didn't
- 32:15Speaker 1: matter because it was Indiana.
- 32:16Speaker 2: That's right. He's like Cignetti developing these quarterbacks or bringing them.
- 32:20Speaker 2: He hadn't developed any quarterbacks, but he's done a hell
- 32:22Speaker 2: of a job with the operation that is Indiana right now, yeah,
- 32:27Speaker 2: it's going to be more difficult in the SEC because Cignetti,
- 32:30Speaker 2: as good as they were year one with Curtis Rourke,
- 32:33Speaker 2: a real SEC schedule, they're probably eight and four. Yeah.
- 32:37Speaker 1: That question seemed to bother Kirby a little bit.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It did.
- 32:40Speaker 1: If Kentucky can get to 10-2, now that means they
- 32:43Speaker 1: can only absorb one more loss, which is unlikely. But
- 32:45Speaker 1: if they can get there, would you call that, I mean,
- 32:48Speaker 1: I guess they're in the college football playoff at 10-2.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I don't know. You would have to tell me the
- 32:51Speaker 2: ranked wins again. For the whole season? Yeah. There won't
- 32:55Speaker 2: be any.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Who do they have to beat down the stretch here?
- 32:57Speaker 1: There's no way you can play nine SEC games and
- 33:00Speaker 1: not beat a ranked team.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Here's how they would get to 10-2. LSU is going
- 33:03Speaker 2: to be ranked at the end of the year. LSU
- 33:04Speaker 2: will be ranked. That may be the only one.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Let me just do this. Here's how they get to 10-2.
- 33:09Speaker 1: They're at Oklahoma. They host Vanderbilt. They're at Tennessee. They
- 33:13Speaker 1: host Florida.
- 33:14Speaker 2: They're at Missouri. They host Louisville.
- 33:15Speaker 1: They can only lose one of those games.
- 33:16Speaker 2: This is unlikely.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I'm not saying this will happen. But give me the
- 33:21Speaker 1: loss that they could absorb if you think they can
- 33:24Speaker 1: win the rest of them.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Is it this week?
- 33:25Speaker 1: And Norman, Tennessee has owned them historically.
- 33:32Speaker 2: And that would be a really good game. But I
- 33:34Speaker 2: lean Kentucky in that one right now. It's in Neyland.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Right now, Missouri would be the one they could absorb
- 33:41Speaker 1: if they win the rest of them. Where we are
- 33:45Speaker 1: right now, Missouri's their toughest remaining game. If their losses
- 33:48Speaker 1: are Alabama and Oklahoma and they win the rest of
- 33:51Speaker 1: those games, they're in the college football. What if they
- 33:54Speaker 1: beat Oklahoma and their losses are only Alabama and Missouri?
- 33:57Speaker 2: They're in. We're going to have a difficulty at the
- 34:00Speaker 2: end of the year with enough SEC and Big Ten
- 34:03Speaker 2: teams being 10-2. There's going to be a lot of
- 34:06Speaker 2: 9-3 and 8-4 this year.
- 34:08Speaker 1: My gut tells me Kentucky's about to regress to the mean.
- 34:10Speaker 1: The water's about to find its level and This has
- 34:13Speaker 1: been a tremendous story, but the back half of this
- 34:15Speaker 1: schedule is going to get real for them. That's what
- 34:17Speaker 1: my gut tells me. If you had to guess Kentucky's
- 34:19Speaker 1: final record.
- 34:21Speaker 2: What are they, 5-1 right now?
- 34:22Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:29Speaker 7: 7-5.
- 34:29Speaker 2: 7-5 is what I have, too.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they can find two more wins.
- 34:32Speaker 2: I think 8-4 or 7-5.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Now he can go out and prove us wrong and
- 34:38Speaker 2: win in Norman.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Just like Kirk Cignetti did that year.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Every time. Every week.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Every week. It's going to happen.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Here it comes.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Indiana's going to lose this week.
- 34:46Speaker 2: People still say it about Cignetti. I heard this dude,
- 34:49Speaker 2: the Brown Bandit, was on our show a week ago today.
- 34:51Speaker 2: That's right.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Thought it was going to be Nebraska. I called it
- 34:54Speaker 1: all summer long.
- 34:54Speaker 2: It is this week, by the way. It's Ohio State.
- 34:57Speaker 1: One more segment to go on sport and state. This
- 35:00Speaker 1: is the next round presented by Hard Rock Podcast. My
- 35:03Speaker 1: buddy Damien and people are saying, are you being a
- 35:05Speaker 1: little too hard on Will Wade talking about the, uh,
- 35:08Speaker 1: the fog and, uh, not being able to dense fog,
- 35:11Speaker 1: not being able to get out of Baton Rouge for
- 35:12Speaker 1: sec media days. Alex Scarborough of, um, ESPN, uh, says
- 35:18Speaker 1: due to inclement weather, LSU basketball won't make the Birmingham
- 35:22Speaker 1: trip to Birmingham for the sec tip off preseason media
- 35:24Speaker 1: event space.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Um, okay.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Uh, that was his, um, There are others that are
- 35:33Speaker 1: jumping in saying sort of the same thing, including Pat Forty.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Biggest story right now at SEC Basketball Media Days is
- 35:40Speaker 1: LSU not coming because of fog. So that's going on
- 35:44Speaker 1: here in town today, and that goes back. Some people
- 35:48Speaker 1: are reading into that, that there was a little LSU
- 35:51Speaker 1: SEC beef going on because of the roster lawsuits and
- 35:55Speaker 1: all of that that happened leading into the start of
- 35:58Speaker 1: the college football season. One more segment here, college football.
- 36:02Speaker 1: We're going to hear from Pete Golding right here after
- 36:06Speaker 1: I tell you about our friends at Crockett Coffee. I've
- 36:08Speaker 1: already finished mine off this morning. Usually it lasts me
- 36:10Speaker 1: the entire sport and state show. But I enjoyed it
- 36:14Speaker 1: so much today that I downed it so quickly. It's
- 36:17Speaker 1: just a great tasting coffee. If you love coffee, give
- 36:20Speaker 1: Crockett Coffee a try. CrockettCoffee.com. CrockettCoffee.com. It's just good coffee
- 36:25Speaker 1: made in America doing some good. When I say doing
- 36:28Speaker 1: some good, that's because Crockett Coffee has partnered with Tunnel
- 36:31Speaker 1: to Towers, building mortgage-free homes for the families of fallen
- 36:35Speaker 1: service members. So when you buy Crockett Coffee at CrockettCoffee.com,
- 36:39Speaker 1: you're helping out Tunnel to Towers as well. This is
- 36:43Speaker 1: the coffee that was started by Clay Travis, Buck Sexton,
- 36:45Speaker 1: and Buck's brother Mason, named after the great Davy Crockett.
- 36:49Speaker 1: It is small batch roasted right in America's heartland. It
- 36:53Speaker 1: is shipped to you when you set up a subscription.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Free shipping over $ 59, and you get it however you
- 36:58Speaker 1: want it. I get mine medium roasted. They also have
- 37:00Speaker 1: the caffeinated organic and mushroom blend. It's all right there
- 37:04Speaker 1: with our friends at Crockett Coffee. CrockettCoffee.com. You called it, LT.
- 37:10Speaker 1: You too, Brownie. Ole Miss-Missouri. Sneaky good game this week.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Number 13 versus number 9. Here's Pete Golding getting asked
- 37:18Speaker 1: if he's playing the hottest team in the SEC right now,
- 37:21Speaker 1: the Missouri Tigers.
- 37:22Speaker 5: Pete, apologies to Georgia and Kentucky.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Are you catching the hottest team in the league right now?
- 37:27Speaker 7: I mean, it feels like that every week right now,
- 37:30Speaker 7: you know. So I think that's this league, which is
- 37:33Speaker 7: awesome about the SEC. But, yeah, I mean, they're putting
- 37:36Speaker 7: up elite numbers on offense. I think they're averaging, you know,
- 37:38Speaker 7: 36 points a game and taking care of the football.
- 37:41Speaker 7: The back's a really good player, you know. It's surprising
- 37:43Speaker 7: you're saying that after they had the number one back
- 37:45Speaker 7: probably in the league, you know, coming in. And obviously
- 37:48Speaker 7: this kid's come in and played really well. He has
- 37:50Speaker 7: the most yards after contact right now. which is something
- 37:53Speaker 7: that has been an issue for us on tape. So
- 37:55Speaker 7: we're going to have to do a really good job
- 37:57Speaker 7: in the run game, obviously hopefully to stop the run game,
- 37:59Speaker 7: make them one-dimensional. And then obviously Caden presents issues. They've
- 38:02Speaker 7: got other really good players. And obviously we're going to
- 38:04Speaker 7: have to be able to affect the quarterback like you
- 38:06Speaker 7: do every week. And so I think it's a big challenge,
- 38:10Speaker 7: but hopefully our guys will be up for it.
- 38:11Speaker 1: You wonder how personal this is for Austin Simmons in
- 38:14Speaker 1: this game. I mean, that is a big storyline here. Obviously,
- 38:17Speaker 1: for those that don't remember, he was the starter at
- 38:19Speaker 1: Ole Miss until Trinidad Chambliss came in when Simmons got injured.
- 38:23Speaker 1: and Trinidad never left the field. And Austin Simmons, now Missouri,
- 38:27Speaker 1: playing well. I mean, he's played fantastic.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Yeah, averaging almost nine yards at a 10, completing 65%
- 38:31Speaker 2: of his passes. 14 touchdowns, one pick. One pick. I mean,
- 38:34Speaker 2: Trinidad Chambliss is the better quarterback. Pete Golding has the
- 38:37Speaker 2: better quarterback. It's the direction they had to go.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'm right, too. Caden Lee, one of Missouri's best receivers,
- 38:43Speaker 1: also came from Ole Miss, right? Didn't he come with him?
- 38:45Speaker 2: I think maybe his– let me check Caden Lee. Caden
- 38:48Speaker 2: Lee is a massive weapon, by the way. Seven catches,
- 38:50Speaker 2: 94 yards last week. Yeah, 42 grabs on the season.
- 38:54Speaker 2: So Caden Lee, yeah, he came over from last year.
- 38:59Speaker 1: So I thought they came almost as a package deal
- 39:02Speaker 1: that they went the portal together.
- 39:03Speaker 2: But, I mean, they've got a three-headed monster on offense
- 39:05Speaker 2: right now with Austin Simmons, Caden Lee, and obviously our
- 39:10Speaker 2: stock up was Jamal Roberts.
- 39:11Speaker 1: This feels like Drake's best team, too. I mean, he's
- 39:13Speaker 1: had these eight-win teams that kind of hover around nine.
- 39:18Speaker 1: They might pull an upset here or there. This feels like,
- 39:21Speaker 1: as of right now, the best team he's had in Missouri.
- 39:23Speaker 2: I don't disagree, and I still question this Ole Miss defense.
- 39:26Speaker 2: They got right last week against Vanderbilt when it was Vanderbilt.
- 39:30Speaker 2: And against this offense, the way it's popping right now
- 39:32Speaker 2: in Missouri, I think Missouri can score points on them.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's why I was going to ask you,
- 39:36Speaker 1: because Ole Miss in that slugfest shootout against Louisville to
- 39:39Speaker 1: start the season, they had the win over LSU. Then
- 39:42Speaker 1: they lost at Florida to, by the way, a team
- 39:46Speaker 1: that sort of plays offensive football the way that Florida
- 39:49Speaker 1: team that day played offensive football the way Missouri is
- 39:52Speaker 1: going to play football. Like you're going to have to
- 39:54Speaker 1: stop us from running the football first. And they couldn't
- 39:57Speaker 1: stop Jaden Ball that day at the Swamp. And now
- 40:00Speaker 1: they're playing a guy who is hotter than Jaden Ball
- 40:02Speaker 1: is right now in Jamal Roberts. So there's a lot
- 40:05Speaker 1: of similarities into what Pete faced at the Swamp and
- 40:08Speaker 1: what he's facing this week with Missouri.
- 40:11Speaker 2: He's right.
- 40:11Speaker 1: It does feel like it's a hot team every week.
- 40:13Speaker 1: And Well, he played Vandy last week, so.
- 40:15Speaker 2: That was a misstep. Okay, that's true. That was a
- 40:17Speaker 2: bit of an overstatement. Got to get a break every
- 40:19Speaker 2: now and then. When it got Florida, they were hot.
- 40:20Speaker 2: When it got LSU, they were hot.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I mean, he's had to play some hot teams this year,
- 40:25Speaker 1: but it feels like since that Florida loss, we have
- 40:27Speaker 1: put them on ignore, like on my do not call list. Well,
- 40:31Speaker 1: they had to buy after that, right?
- 40:32Speaker 2: They did, and then they played Vandy, which is boring.
- 40:34Speaker 1: But that Florida loss, I mean, Ole Miss has been
- 40:38Speaker 1: out of sight.
- 40:38Speaker 2: They have.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't mind, to your point. And all it was
- 40:40Speaker 1: was a Florida loss, a bye week, a win in Vandy.
- 40:43Speaker 2: That's right.
- 40:44Speaker 1: But that seems like forever ago. Yeah, I mean, I
- 40:46Speaker 1: watched almost none of the, well, I'm just going to
- 40:49Speaker 1: be honest, I watched none of the Ole Miss-Vandy game.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Didn't watch play. It was.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I mean, it was just I checked the score to see,
- 40:55Speaker 1: all right, do I need to look at this game?
- 40:57Speaker 1: And it was so over so quick.
- 40:58Speaker 2: But, you know, going into that game, it seemed like
- 41:01Speaker 2: Ole Miss should somewhat be on upset alert just based
- 41:03Speaker 2: on the fact that I forgot how many consecutive home
- 41:07Speaker 2: games Clark Lee had won. Yeah. It was a lot.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I mean, he was on a pretty good streak. I
- 41:13Speaker 1: do want to bring up UCLA. We've talked about them
- 41:16Speaker 1: a couple of times this hour now. They're number 12
- 41:18Speaker 1: in the country. And the word did come out yesterday
- 41:21Speaker 1: that Nico Amelieva, the quarterback, is done for the season,
- 41:26Speaker 1: an ACL injury. Ty Deffenbach from Cal Poly is now
- 41:31Speaker 1: the starting quarterback, QB1. I have him as three of six,
- 41:34Speaker 1: 43 yards and a touchdown when he came in. in
- 41:37Speaker 1: the second half. Is that all that you can muster
- 41:39Speaker 1: in the second half?
- 41:39Speaker 2: Well, I mean, they were just running the football.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Yeah, this is an unknown. This is terrible because... Terrible timing.
- 41:45Speaker 2: You know, Nico wasn't great, but he was solid. Played
- 41:48Speaker 2: really bad against Oregon, but before that, he's been really,
- 41:50Speaker 2: really solid, but he's got a ton of experience, so
- 41:52Speaker 2: it's exactly what Chesney needs for that offense, and now
- 41:55Speaker 2: you don't have that.
- 41:55Speaker 1: They think the injury happened. He played a play after
- 41:59Speaker 1: the injury, and then he didn't return. They think the
- 42:02Speaker 1: play happened when Bear Alexander... was trying to punch the
- 42:06Speaker 1: ball out and punched him in the helmet.
- 42:10Speaker 4: And.
- 42:11Speaker 2: I know Lanning was pissed about it. He was, but
- 42:13Speaker 2: he didn't... Or not Lanning, excuse me.
- 42:15Speaker 5: Chesney.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and Lanning said yesterday he was not going to
- 42:18Speaker 1: suspend Pierre Alexander, but Chesney was pissed.
- 42:21Speaker 2: That's right.
- 42:21Speaker 1: And Chesney has said it's egregious after going back and
- 42:24Speaker 1: looking at it again at his news conference this week.
- 42:26Speaker 1: But Lanning says, I'm not... He's trying to punch the
- 42:29Speaker 1: ball out. It wasn't intentional. I'm not going to suspend him. Well,
- 42:33Speaker 1: Nico is on the ground. I mean, the Even if
- 42:36Speaker 1: you punch the ball out, he's on the ground. But
- 42:38Speaker 1: for those that didn't see it, and we can't show
- 42:40Speaker 1: the video, he's punching it from behind. Like, he's behind Nico,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and he kind of has to come under him and
- 42:45Speaker 1: punch it. And bodies are moving. I mean, I didn't
- 42:50Speaker 1: watch it and think he's trying to punch him in
- 42:51Speaker 1: the head. Why would you do that? The guy's wearing
- 42:53Speaker 1: a helmet. I thought he was trying to punch the
- 42:55Speaker 1: ball out. But it does look bad. I mean, there's
- 42:58Speaker 1: no doubt it looks bad. Well, a lot of those
- 43:00Speaker 1: punches now, if you're running down the field with them,
- 43:03Speaker 1: sometimes it looks like you're punching them in the stomach.
- 43:05Speaker 2: And it's totally like Peanut Tillman, obviously the guy that
- 43:07Speaker 2: kind of originated this, invented it, so to speak. It
- 43:12Speaker 2: didn't seem as over the top. Like watching Nate Lamb
- 43:17Speaker 2: in last night, and he did it last year for
- 43:18Speaker 2: the Rams too. I mean, sometimes not even looking to
- 43:20Speaker 2: make the tackle, just looking to get in there and
- 43:22Speaker 2: punch the ball.
- 43:23Speaker 1: But there's a difference between you've got a guy, you
- 43:25Speaker 1: arm around him, and you're punching or somebody's punching out.
- 43:28Speaker 1: But to take a full swing at it like you're
- 43:30Speaker 1: throwing a punch in a fight, that seems almost illegal.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I wonder if we'll ever have a rule that you
- 43:36Speaker 1: can poke it, but you can't take a full swing.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I don't know, because how do you officiate that? That's
- 43:42Speaker 2: going to be tough. We're never going to start getting
- 43:44Speaker 2: reviews for that.
- 43:45Speaker 1: When you see Bear Alexander, did you think that looked like...
- 43:48Speaker 1: that he was trying to punch the ball out or
- 43:50Speaker 1: was he taking a swing? I thought he was trying
- 43:52Speaker 1: to punch the ball.
- 43:52Speaker 2: I thought he was trying to punch the ball out
- 43:54Speaker 2: while he was taking a full swing.
- 43:56Speaker 1: It's weird because Nico's on the ground, watching it right
- 43:58Speaker 1: here on my phone. Nico is on the ground down
- 44:01Speaker 1: and Alexander is, Nico's laying on top of Alexander and
- 44:05Speaker 1: they roll over and only then does he punch. Like
- 44:08Speaker 1: he knows they're on the ground.
- 44:10Speaker 2: If anything, it was a.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Late punch that is silly. I just don't think he
- 44:14Speaker 1: was trying to punch him in the helmet though. My,
- 44:16Speaker 1: Just me watching it on TV. I was watching it
- 44:18Speaker 1: when it happened. James Madison announced yesterday they're moving to
- 44:22Speaker 1: the American Conference, leaving a spot open in the Sun Belt.
- 44:25Speaker 1: We'll see who fills that up. Jack State here locally
- 44:28Speaker 1: is one of the teams being mentioned to the Sun Belt.
- 44:30Speaker 1: It would be a great move for them, but if
- 44:32Speaker 1: I'm James Madison, man, do you worry about getting calls
- 44:34Speaker 1: down the stretch?
- 44:35Speaker 2: Now that you're a short-timer in this league and there's
- 44:37Speaker 2: going to be some hurt feelings here. I don't just
- 44:41Speaker 2: based on this. They still have an outside shot.
- 44:44Speaker 1: And that would be more money for the Sun Belt
- 44:46Speaker 1: to get a playoff team again? Didn't we see that same.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Thing in basketball?
- 44:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to remember the team, but a team
- 44:51Speaker 1: was leaving a conference, and they were the team that
- 44:53Speaker 1: was going to represent that conference in the NCAA basketball tournament. Yeah,
- 44:56Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember who that was. I can't remember
- 44:57Speaker 1: who it was, but it was recent. I just say
- 45:00Speaker 1: that about James Madison because there's going to be some
- 45:02Speaker 1: hurt feelings here. Was it Boise State in the Mountain West?
- 45:04Speaker 1: San Diego State in the Mountain West going to the Pac-12?
- 45:06Speaker 2: It might have been Boise State or something like that.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, a bunch of them leaving the Mountain West. I
- 45:10Speaker 1: will say that JMU tree looking pretty good right now,
- 45:12Speaker 1: at least for one more week. Billy Napier, the team
- 45:15Speaker 1: that's still coaching James Madison, 6-0. Kirk Cignetti, the guy
- 45:19Speaker 1: who used to be at James Madison, now at Indiana, 6-0.
- 45:22Speaker 1: And Bob Chesney, the guy who was at James Madison
- 45:25Speaker 1: last year at UCLA, 5-0. So between them, they're 17-0.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Chances are good this week Chesney and Sig go down.
- 45:34Speaker 1: maybe Napier James Madison goes down that all three could
- 45:36Speaker 1: lose but for one more week that JMU tree looks
- 45:39Speaker 1: pretty good I think we've found that Sunbelt Billy has
- 45:41Speaker 1: found his water level right it's coaching in the Sunbelt
- 45:43Speaker 1: now it's about to be coaching in the American can
- 45:45Speaker 1: we still call him Sunbelt Billy when he's coaching the
- 45:47Speaker 1: American American Billy just doesn't sound as good.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Does not roll off the tongue. Do you think that's
- 45:50Speaker 2: good enough for him to stay? Do you think he'll
- 45:52Speaker 2: get another offer?
- 45:53Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I mean, you had Florida and
- 45:55Speaker 1: you couldn't do anything with it.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Why would I hire you? There might be a genie
- 45:58Speaker 2: lamp in that closet at JMU, though. Good man.
- 46:01Speaker 1: They sold their soul to the devil. Remember to pack
- 46:03Speaker 1: it when you're leaving. All right, that's our first half
