- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so I want to talk to you a
- 0:31little bit about why we care so much about what other people
- 0:35think about us. This is been coming up a lot and
- 0:41not in my personal life, but with my clients and I thought it
- 0:44would be worth it to address it with all of you since it seems
- 0:47to be something that's out there floating in the world right now,
- 0:51worrying about what other people are going to think.
- 0:53And I know this is something that's we are hard-wired since
- 0:58you. If you went to middle school,
- 1:00you actually. Actually understand this sort of
- 1:03such a deep level because anybody who's gone to Middle
- 1:05School, which is all of us, hopefully gets the fact that you
- 1:10worry about what other people think.
- 1:12You don't want to be that kid. That has that any way to stand
- 1:16out? That isn't in a great way and
- 1:18even the ones who are you know, the ones, the popular kids, they
- 1:22still worried about it, they just didn't do it in the same
- 1:24way. It's Middle School is probably
- 1:27the breeding ground of all true. As far as I'm concerned for so
- 1:33many people, because they'll all go back and they'll say, well,
- 1:35when I was in Middle School and I always like note to myself.
- 1:39Gosh, middle school, and my middle school experience was no
- 1:41better. Believe me.
- 1:43I did not enjoy Middle School at all.
- 1:45There's a chunk of time that I could technically say, let's do
- 1:49redo that. It would be middle school for
- 1:51sure, but in any event we digress.
- 1:54I don't want to go down there. Let's go.
- 1:55Back to the fact of you have to let yourself understand.
- 2:01That there's a part of you, that you, it's hardwired into us to
- 2:06have social behaviors and social cues from other people, because
- 2:10they're important, right? You do want other people to as a
- 2:14society as a thriving species, we look to others to shape us.
- 2:20And part of that can be healthy part of it is healthy but not at
- 2:24the detriment of yourself. Again, this comes back to always
- 2:27being self-aware and really looking at You're processing
- 2:31stuff. There's a really awesome quote
- 2:34from loud Sue who says care what other people think and you will
- 2:38always be their prisoner and boy.
- 2:40Isn't that the truth? I mean, go back even to middle
- 2:43school. I mean I can tell you how many
- 2:45times I heard my father say why do you care what they think?
- 2:47But you know it's really easy for someone who's in their 40s
- 2:50to be telling somebody who's 10 11 and 12, not to care what
- 2:55other people think and not knowing where that person is in
- 2:59their little Minds. They're little development.
- 3:01So we all have these issues with this showing up at some point in
- 3:08our life, we become prisoners of other people by giving them the
- 3:12power and allowing what they think to become our reality.
- 3:15So, I'll give you a great example when I was going to
- 3:18shoot when I was going to begin the process of, you know,
- 3:21recording out in the chicken coop, and possibly shooting
- 3:24videos and things out here. I had this whole thing in my
- 3:28head about, well, I wonder what people are going to.
- 3:30Thank as a professional, who's recording from her chicken coop,
- 3:35and I had to go through this process now.
- 3:37Did it take me a long time? No, it didn't take me a long
- 3:40time because I recognize the information.
- 3:42It was trying to give me, and then I use that information and
- 3:45I came to the conclusion, which is why you're listening to me
- 3:48out in my chicken coop, because this is one of my most happy
- 3:51places I love hanging out with my chickens and granted right
- 3:55now, some of them are here, but a lot of them are far away out
- 3:58for you, arranging, having fun, doing whatever.
- 4:00They're doing looking for bugs but it's nonetheless.
- 4:04I'm still happy to be here with the ones that I have and this is
- 4:07one of my I have to look at myself.
- 4:12How do I want to say this? I want to look at myself and
- 4:14say, just because this is not the same as what other people
- 4:18like. It doesn't mean that I can't
- 4:20bring it forward and share it with people and let people know
- 4:25that I like it. It's that originality of saying,
- 4:28you know what people are Title to their opinions and they can
- 4:32keep their opinions, they can share their opinions but I don't
- 4:36have to keep their opinion. I can decide just like I don't
- 4:39have to keep the garbage in the house every night.
- 4:41If I want to take it out, I can take it out.
- 4:43I don't have to hang on to things, I don't have to make
- 4:46everything a collection and curate, it and least off
- 4:49somebody else's opinions about things and I think where we have
- 4:54become so sensitive to what other people think right now in
- 4:58society we don't Want to accept ourselves for who we are and
- 5:03where we are. Because we're worried about what
- 5:05other people are going to think. So a lot of us have retreated
- 5:10and just said, well, I'm going to, I'm going to just go down
- 5:13this other Road and isolate myself or I'm going to not truly
- 5:17share who I am and that's fine if you're doing it for the right
- 5:21reason. But if you're doing it to hide,
- 5:24it's never the right reason and it's important to say.
- 5:27No, I'm going to stand in the truth of who I am.
- 5:29I'm going Accept myself for who I am.
- 5:32I'm going to love myself for who I am and I'm going to give
- 5:36myself the grace and the space to cultivate that person into
- 5:43the greatest version of myself that I can be and not according
- 5:46to what other people think. According to you, you got to
- 5:50liberate yourself from the thoughts that it matters what
- 5:53anyone else thinks, and maybe you have, you know, that close
- 5:59person in your life like, I have a few close people in my life
- 6:02and I will go to them for their opinions on things.
- 6:06Doesn't mean I'll take them, but I trust them and I'll go to
- 6:10them. And I'll say, okay, what are
- 6:12your thoughts on this? And, you know, my husband being
- 6:15one of them and sometimes he'll say to me, you know, I don't
- 6:18know how that would go. Or I'm not sure about that or
- 6:20he'll give me his opinion, doesn't mean I have to take.
- 6:23It just means that I've checked in.
- 6:25I've gotten some information again, but I don't have to hold
- 6:29on to it. I don't To keep up.
- 6:31So the lesson today, all about accepting yourself for who you
- 6:36are, where you are and giving yourself the freedom that
- 6:40they're the just the peace of mind that I don't care what
- 6:44other people think. And I am no longer going to be a
- 6:47prisoner of anyone is just absolutely freeing.
- 6:51So hopefully today, this is going to be helpful to you and I
- 6:55will see you tomorrow. Have a great day guys.
- 6:57Bye.
