- 0:01My name is Rex 45 Tonight we got TJ in the building.
- 0:05We got Cheetah 740 in the building.
- 0:08We got the real Luis Ortega. What's going on, fellas?
- 0:11What's good, What's good? What's happening, man?
- 0:14Can't complain. It's beautiful weather down here
- 0:17in in Florida. Where am I in Florida?
- 0:21So I, I sorry, I really can't complain.
- 0:23So how are things up there in Boston, TJ?
- 0:26You know it's back down to cool, but this is how everyone likes
- 0:29it. It's in the 7075 range, but you
- 0:33know bikes out everywhere is what I like to see everyone's
- 0:36bright and safe. It's for the most part, but All
- 0:40in all, what a great weekend racing for all the classes.
- 0:44So I can't wait to get into it. That's.
- 0:47What's up? That's what's up.
- 0:48How about yourself, Cheetah Man? How you doing tonight?
- 0:51Good, man. It just rained outside in
- 0:53Atlanta, but it's more humid than ever.
- 0:55My windows are foggy outside. It's, it's a weird, some weird
- 0:58weather going on. But yeah, man, I'm, I'm happy
- 1:00because I got the, I got to get out on the bike over the
- 1:03weekend. The bicycle that is still got to
- 1:06watch some, some GP along the way.
- 1:07So it's a good weekend. What What kind of bike you ride?
- 1:11The Trek Domani I did. I did my first fifty mile ride
- 1:14this weekend. So it was.
- 1:15It was fun. Yeah.
- 1:16A little bicycle, yeah. Oh.
- 1:17Nice, nice. That's what's up.
- 1:18No, I, I, I, I ride a cycle cross and I have a carbon
- 1:22specialized in Boston I'm actually going to bring down.
- 1:25Yeah, we're going to have to ride one of these.
- 1:26Days. Yeah, yeah, we're going to have
- 1:27to ride, man, for sure. What's going on, Louis?
- 1:30Man, how are things? I I I know you're busy over
- 1:32there at least changing your house.
- 1:35Maybe not the world. I know it's it's a good weekend
- 1:39busy like like you said, they got a lot of projects going on,
- 1:41but you know, still found time to catch the racing this
- 1:45weekend, break the monotony of the weekend with, you know,
- 1:48watching the guys go back to Bruno for the first time in
- 1:51several years and and some pretty competitive racing.
- 1:53Man, it was actually a really good weekend.
- 1:55I had a lot of new faces. Yeah, we're going.
- 1:57We're going to jump into that. I was trying to get track stars
- 2:00to come on tonight, but we'll. We'll see what happens.
- 2:03He don't want it. He don't want any of this.
- 2:06We'll see what happens next week, but you know, you, you
- 2:08know, you kind of segue right into the first thing I was going
- 2:11to talk about, which is it's been five years for Moto GP, six
- 2:14years for the fans in in Bruno. We'll start with TJ, man.
- 2:19I mean, what do you think of the crowd being over?
- 2:21I think it was over 230 + 1000 people coming out for the
- 2:24weekend. You know, I can't imagine, you
- 2:27know, having a sport taken away and you know, motorcycle is huge
- 2:32over in Europe being taken away for that many years.
- 2:35You know, we, we're very fortunate over in the US.
- 2:38What are your thoughts about that Moto GP going back to Bruno
- 2:41I? Think it's I think it's awesome.
- 2:44I mean, when I first started watching Moto GPI think they
- 2:47were at this track and I like it and it's a good layout, called
- 2:54it the Adrenaline track or something like that.
- 2:57And it's such a long layout and to have that many fans there,
- 3:01it's pretty cool. Like when you love you think
- 3:02there's like bleachers. It's just all grass.
- 3:04They're just sitting all on the grass.
- 3:06I mean most tracks are like that, but can't really even see
- 3:08the grass just all over the place there.
- 3:11There's just fans everywhere and I don't know who they really
- 3:15root for there. I'm not sure if there's a
- 3:19there's a. What is it in the Dutch?
- 3:26They they, they, they root for the European.
- 3:28Yeah. So, but it's good for that type
- 3:33of turn out, you know, So it's good to have things like that.
- 3:37I wish we had that in Coda, you know?
- 3:39Yeah, it's I think so. I think it's definitely dope to
- 3:43have the Czech Republic. When I was at Austin, I heard
- 3:46some of the media guys talking about how nice it was going to
- 3:49be when they got to Bruno. And it seems from the track
- 3:52being resurfaced and stuff like that, it's a pretty fast track.
- 3:57In some of the media questions they asked some of the guys, and
- 4:00this is the Cheetah, they were talking about how an F1 they
- 4:05have mandatory tracks and they were asking what tracks should
- 4:09they make mandatory in in Moto GP?
- 4:11And a lot of the guys say, Bruno, so you know, we're all
- 4:14riders, but what are your thoughts of that being a
- 4:17mandatory track and also just, you know, overall weekend and
- 4:21and Moto GP going back there? That's a cool thing.
- 4:24I didn't hear that question, but it's it's, it's cool to have
- 4:26favourites like that. As riders, we all like want to
- 4:29go back to certain tracks because other a the racetrack is
- 4:32just suited for the riding style of everyone.
- 4:34It's just suited for these bikes.
- 4:35It's safer in some ways. You can get to go faster and
- 4:39feel sort of safer. Some tracks are very, very risky
- 4:42and you know, we still go back to those tracks even though the
- 4:44pavements really bad. But you know, that's that's
- 4:47interesting that to say that I'd I'd be curious.
- 4:49I would I would also imagine that a lot of riders that said,
- 4:52yes, they want to go back, make the favorite track.
- 4:54They have different reasons why, right.
- 4:56So maybe some win there more or whatever it may be, but it's a
- 5:00great track. I know we went back there a few
- 5:02years back. We used to have some really good
- 5:03battles. So it's really good to see.
- 5:06And the passing is interesting. You have to do it where you're,
- 5:09it's, it's always in the soup switchbacks, you know, you
- 5:12always have to be put it on the inside on somebody on the
- 5:14switchbacks, pretty much all you can do for passing there or on
- 5:17the breaking zone on the first three corners really.
- 5:19So I like it a lot. It's a fun track to watch.
- 5:23Lewis the numbers guy. I mean, what do you think?
- 5:26Do you think it was numbers? Why they weren't at Bruno for a
- 5:29little bit or I think, I don't know if they were protesting
- 5:33wars that were close by, but you.
- 5:36Know it's the Czech Republic. I don't think they really have
- 5:38too many wars going on. No, I think, you know, maybe
- 5:44this is a little inside baseball, but the previous owner
- 5:46of the track was called Abraham's father.
- 5:49And it's interesting that they stopped going to the track right
- 5:52around the time Kyle Abraham stopped getting funding from his
- 5:55dad to keep racing in Moto GP. OK.
- 5:59So I don't know if, you know, maybe they had a little bit of
- 6:01falling out with the family because his son couldn't get a
- 6:04ride or he didn't want to keep supporting his son's racing
- 6:06career because it wasn't really going anywhere.
- 6:10But I know that the new owner took over the track in 2023, and
- 6:13since then they've been in negotiations to try to get Moto
- 6:16GP back on the schedule in Bruno.
- 6:19So, you know, I'm glad it's coming back because obviously
- 6:22the attendance shows that, you know, people do like to go watch
- 6:25Moto GP at that track. That track has been on the
- 6:27schedule for a long time and it's a unique track because it's
- 6:30got a lot of elevation change. It's got a fast, fast sections,
- 6:34it's got flowy sections. It's got a lot of strange 90° /
- 6:3990° chicanes. So there's a little bit of
- 6:42everything. And that's I think that's one of
- 6:44the reasons we saw such an interesting mix of different
- 6:46manufacturers up towards the front, because it did lean on
- 6:51some of the strengths of the KTM and it leaned on some of the
- 6:54strengths of the Aprilia and that's why we see the mix.
- 6:57But it didn't lean on the strengths of like some of the
- 7:00other bikes. So you saw that, you know,
- 7:01Yamaha struggled a little bit, Honda struggled a little bit,
- 7:04but the bikes with more horsepower got a little bit
- 7:07better. So, you know, again, this is one
- 7:08of those tracks that benefits some bikes, doesn't benefits
- 7:11other bikes, but it's a cool track.
- 7:13I've always enjoyed watching race into this track and seeing
- 7:17220 people show up over the weekend.
- 7:19That's that's a massive number, man.
- 7:21Yeah, something to blink your eye out.
- 7:24No, it is. And I think it's the when I,
- 7:27when I, well, I was thinking of the Ukraine war with Russia and
- 7:30looking at the map, they're not that far apart.
- 7:32So that's, that's what was in my mind somewhere.
- 7:36But let's jump into the the weekend itself.
- 7:40You know, Pekko had to go through Q1 and got pole position
- 7:45and so forth. I thought it was going to be a
- 7:47more competitive race for him. What did you guys think?
- 7:50Were you guys surprised that Pekko was able to?
- 7:53Well, not, I'm probably not surprised at the part that he
- 7:56was in Q1 but got out of it and got pole position.
- 8:00We'll start with your TJ. Yeah, Pekko is not supposed to
- 8:05be in Q1. So I mean, for him to, you know,
- 8:11even put himself through that when he already knows his
- 8:14struggles. I mean, like, it is rewarding to
- 8:17get polled and you know, it is racing.
- 8:21But I think he only got polled just because I forget the reason
- 8:25why, but something happened where he ended up actually
- 8:28getting polled. Thing Mark Marquez was actually
- 8:31on a the one of the fastest lap he was ever on and then he
- 8:34crashed like two corners before. It's like a flag.
- 8:38Right, right. He he he said he saw Zarko
- 8:42crashed in the same corner before him and he saw the dust,
- 8:46and that distracted him. And he was on a fly.
- 8:49I mean, you know, you know, it's you know.
- 8:51So yeah, go ahead. But no, I gave it to him like
- 8:54he, I want to see him build his confidence.
- 8:56You know, he is a really good writer.
- 8:58I know we've been getting on him all the time, all all year.
- 9:03But I think he deserved the poll for sure.
- 9:06You know, the spring was a different story.
- 9:08Got you Cheetah. What do you think about it?
- 9:13Does Peko use this as motivation as he's because he seems to be
- 9:18sorting it out a little bit over the last three rounds.
- 9:20Even mentioned that in in pre press conference as well.
- 9:26Do you mean granted he you know, 4th and 7th may not be the
- 9:29results he wanted this weekend? Is that motivation to say hey
- 9:33you know this is pretty good. second-half of the season is
- 9:37going to come up in about 3 weeks.
- 9:39I should be good probably 2 races after that.
- 9:42I don't think so. Just knowing Petco himself, like
- 9:46I think Petco has always been like a slow starter.
- 9:49He's always been slow in the pre practices and then he sort of
- 9:52picks up in Q2Q1Q2 wherever he ends up.
- 9:55But even then he's like, sometimes you'll get pulled.
- 9:58But last year he was because I mean, it was, it was a different
- 10:01scenario. But I mean, I given that, you
- 10:04know, qualifying is, is a different tire, it's one lap,
- 10:07you know, I think they all know that sure, they got the pole.
- 10:10It's a great accomplishment. It is a morale boost.
- 10:13But at the end of the day, it's the race distance that matters,
- 10:16right? So I think for that aspect, I
- 10:19don't know if he was really motivated because he got a few
- 10:21other polls right this year. And no, he didn't get any polls
- 10:25this year. No, no, it's his first one.
- 10:27It's been the Marquez and Quadraro show.
- 10:30Got you. Yeah.
- 10:31And so I even still it's, it's, it's not something that's
- 10:36applicable to the race distance, you know, and that's where he
- 10:38struggles. He falls back more and more and
- 10:40more one lap at a time. At one point, you know, it's
- 10:43just like 1 after another. And so that's why I, I feel like
- 10:47he's still not feeling accomplished off a qualifying
- 10:50session. Just my opinion.
- 10:51Got you. What are your thoughts, Louis?
- 10:55I will throw this in and you guys can jump in after Louis
- 10:58talk about this and we talk about the Sprint because the
- 11:01factory they screwed up on the tire pressure, right?
- 11:05And it sounds like even in the in the main race itself, the
- 11:09bike just had way too much grip for that surface or the surface.
- 11:12It just has so much grip that the bike had a lot of vibration.
- 11:16What are your thoughts on Peckles pole position and also
- 11:21the struggles they had in the in the Sprint?
- 11:24I mean, he got a pole. I mean he did 1 fast lap that
- 11:27got him the pole. But if you looked at what Zarko
- 11:29was doing on the lap he crashed and Mark was doing, you know,
- 11:32they were about to clip his pole.
- 11:34I mean they were on the last sector pretty much and they were
- 11:37definitely going to take the pole either way.
- 11:39I mean, pole is pole. Whoever is there at the top,
- 11:41when the checkered flag waves, he's at the top regardless of
- 11:43whatever else happens. But if you look at his
- 11:46inconsistency through the warm ups and the fact that he had to
- 11:50go through Q1, like he was already showing that he's having
- 11:52some struggles and some other issues in the Sprint.
- 11:56I mean, he's had a horrible sprints all season.
- 11:59So seeing him in 7th in the Sprint wasn't a surprise because
- 12:03in a short distance race, you know, for some reason he just
- 12:05can't seem to put it together. I thought he would do a little
- 12:08bit better on Sunday and he did better on Sunday.
- 12:11But again, you know, he started having whatever issues he
- 12:14started having. But again, this is where a good
- 12:17rider and a great rider separate themselves.
- 12:21Marquez is having the same issues, but he finds way around
- 12:24the issues. And Petco runs into these issues
- 12:27and succumbs to the issues. He doesn't find his way around
- 12:30the issues. You know, Marquez jumped out
- 12:32front. He had a three plus second lead.
- 12:34He saw the tire pressure was messed up.
- 12:35What did he do? He turned into a track day
- 12:37coach, he slowed down, he let the guys pass him, he followed
- 12:41him, he showed him the line, Then he tapped his head and
- 12:43bounced and he still got another second and a half.
- 12:45Like that's embarrassing man. At that point, Paki shit up and
- 12:48go home. This dude is literally showing
- 12:50you he's faster than everybody else, has got more talent and is
- 12:53is just the best package. And that's the race that Pekko
- 12:57came in 7th. So Marquez having the same issue
- 13:00and wins, slows down, gives the the grid a chance and then still
- 13:05passes the grid to win. So again, Mark Pekko needs to
- 13:09find a way to work himself around the problem while he's on
- 13:12the bike, not in the pit, because he's obviously not
- 13:15finding the solution in the pit. So you got to find it out on the
- 13:18track. You got to find a way to change
- 13:20something about your riding style to help you overcome
- 13:22whatever obstacle you come across, man.
- 13:24But you know and you know, I think in Pecos case we had some
- 13:29overzealous track day guys just when he try let one person pass,
- 13:34three people passed. Hey, if you leave the door open,
- 13:37people gonna come in. It's called racing.
- 13:41It's gonna happen and and and when they and when you see a
- 13:45wounded fish, do you go? You know, it's like watching a
- 13:48wounded gazelle. Do you go against the really
- 13:50fast in shape gazelle or or this wounded gazelle right here looks
- 13:54looks tasty. We're about to eat him up.
- 13:56That's what they do it. His his crashing has been way
- 14:00down this year. I know past two seasons he's
- 14:04been, you know, always either a first or on the podium or just
- 14:09throwing it away completely. He needs to get back to that.
- 14:12Even when there's times going out to practice, they wanted to
- 14:15follow him. Mark Marquez was always trying
- 14:18to follow him, pick on him, and he's just not been that guy.
- 14:23And like you said, he's just throwing all those pieces on the
- 14:25front end and trying to have a change in the paddock.
- 14:27And we just have to get that around the problem because he's
- 14:30not the only rider that's had an issues.
- 14:32So everyone's running around issues.
- 14:34So he needs to go. He knows what he needs to do,
- 14:37but. Right, you do.
- 14:38You do make a. He needs to do.
- 14:41Yeah, you do. You do make a good point that I
- 14:43think he doesn't want to crash. Where Marquez he OK if he crash.
- 14:49I think Peko used to crash a lot and I think this year maybe he's
- 14:54being too cautious because he's not sending it down the road.
- 14:57He'd rather not deal with the bumpy situation or the you know,
- 15:02the lack of feel and you know, you know, you know, you know he
- 15:06he's still pretty fast, right, But just I think that's a
- 15:09different way. Mark don't mind if if he lose
- 15:11the front, you know, he'll he like he's he's trying to talk.
- 15:15He's trying to ride more like Petco and but you know, he's he,
- 15:20you know, and Petco probably needs to ride more like how
- 15:22Marquez ride where can't be. I mean, again, but it's tricky
- 15:24because you're crashing out for the season reason, you know, so
- 15:28you know, but I think he, you know, you make a good point
- 15:31there. I think, I think one thing is
- 15:33it's, it's, it's about the rider and getting out of his head.
- 15:35What you just said is sort of something that can get up in
- 15:38their head and they're scared of crashing, right?
- 15:40Or they're scared of losing those points if they crash,
- 15:43whatever it may be. He has to get out of his head
- 15:46because even the adjustments of Mark is just so quick and so
- 15:50fast. He's able to get back a spot and
- 15:52only a spot and not lose 2 spots.
- 15:55And if whenever he snaps his fingers, he's back in front of
- 15:57the the guy he wants to be in. I mean, the pace is obviously
- 15:59much, much faster than the guys around him.
- 16:02But Petco, I mean, he turned it down a little and then he turned
- 16:05it down a little too much. There's, you know, a cost
- 16:06everyone sneaking through. So it's, it's about like being
- 16:10able to and then make that back up at the end of the end of all
- 16:13that. Because if if that wasn't the
- 16:15case, would he have lost the pace anyways?
- 16:18You know, if he was falling back the way he did And he's such a
- 16:21late starter that he needs 15 laps to get going, then maybe
- 16:25this is a guy that's just not able to manage the bike well or
- 16:28the tires. Or he just needs to get warmed
- 16:30up mentally in the race and lose that many spots for him to be
- 16:33like, all right, now I'm going to just say, forget not
- 16:36crashing, forget all that. Let me just push and go through.
- 16:39So does it take him that long to get out of his head?
- 16:42Who knows? Only he knows because he's in
- 16:44his head. So we can all guess.
- 16:46But I mean, I think we all know the man's in his head.
- 16:48Right. You listen, No, no shade our old
- 16:51Fernandez, but he he you know, he, he was dealing with that for
- 16:54a while too and he seems to be figuring it out now because he
- 16:58has some really good results this past weekend as well.
- 17:01But what do you guys think of the other brands?
- 17:05You know what I mean? The KTM look good, Aprilia look
- 17:08good, the Yamahas and the and the Honda.
- 17:11I mean, are we to the season where these these other brands
- 17:14are just starting to figure out the the, the things that are
- 17:17wrong with their bikes and just making it better?
- 17:20What are your thoughts, TJ? Well, I was going to say that
- 17:25Petco maybe needs to lose spot kilos because, you know, Neil
- 17:30Gastonini just came out of nowhere and he got on the podium
- 17:34for KTM, so he looked at. Bull.
- 17:38He looked in that bull and saw death once he saw he was going
- 17:43to live. He's there.
- 17:44Listen, no more chances, man. This is it.
- 17:46I'm going for everything. It's also a track they have they
- 17:49haven't been to in a few years. So I don't know if that played
- 17:52any part. Obviously, you know, towards
- 17:56like the race, everyone's probably got all that data, but
- 17:58it was really good to see a mix of the manufacturers like Pedro
- 18:02Acosta actually being up there and they are being up there.
- 18:05Like a lot of the KTMS are up there.
- 18:10The COD is struggling a little bit, which is, you know, not
- 18:13normal, but you know, it was for for like both the mark, the
- 18:18Marquez and Pekko to have the tire pressure issue.
- 18:22You know, that made it interesting for, you know, the
- 18:25the manufacturers to come in and play.
- 18:26So it was also good to see Bazecki do what he was doing on
- 18:31the Australia Martine Pittsburgh round back officially.
- 18:38I think he did a pretty solid job, but I think it was really
- 18:42nice to see the KTM's finish one, it's two and three in a
- 18:46Sprint. Got you cheetah.
- 18:49Do you think that the guy should put in a petition to have all
- 18:53the tracks resurfaced because it seems like ATM had more grip.
- 18:58The previous had more grip. All the bikes had more grip on
- 19:01this track where you know they're going to go on to other
- 19:04tracks that are not resurfaced. Well, I was just reading up when
- 19:07you guys were talking. It was a debt issue.
- 19:09Apparently it was unpaid debt and resurfacing.
- 19:12So maybe there needs to be a lot more tracks where the unpaid
- 19:14debt gets settled with repaving, right?
- 19:16I don't know how that works. But no, I mean, it's it's great
- 19:19to see KTM is doing phenomenal right now.
- 19:21I mean, they're finally getting their bearings together.
- 19:23All the things they're testing out.
- 19:25Maybe it's all coming together. You know, we all want Vinales
- 19:28back, but Acosta, first time there at at Bruno and he's doing
- 19:32so good. That's what that's what they
- 19:34were talking about was like, wow, he's already in in 3rd
- 19:36place and everything he's got into second in the race, so
- 19:39really good. And Bassinini's right there.
- 19:41First place in the Sprint for a second.
- 19:43Yeah, for a second when it's allowed, but yeah, I mean, you
- 19:48know, Bassinini's doing good, but Betseki's doing great.
- 19:51He's showing what Martine can potentially do.
- 19:54You know, Martine, obviously that's another so we'll get
- 19:56into, but he was also kind of feeling good.
- 20:00Had a big smile on his face when he came back.
- 20:02So, you know, I think Honda's probably the weaker of the one
- 20:06manufacturers, but they're also mixing it up in all the other
- 20:08races. So there's not really one weak
- 20:10competitor as far as a manufacturer goes.
- 20:13So it's going to be very interesting to see how the rest
- 20:15of the season plays out after this break.
- 20:18All right, All right, Louis, you heard all those guys.
- 20:20What are your thoughts man? I think this and the next track
- 20:24are a little bit of an anomaly for KTM.
- 20:27This track and the next track, which is the Red Bull Ring,
- 20:30leans really, really heavily on the strengths of the KTM.
- 20:33So I expect to see them doing the similar pace at the next
- 20:37round and even maybe the round after that at Hungary.
- 20:43But then after that, when we get back to Catalonia and San Marino
- 20:47and so forth, the KTM is probably going to start to
- 20:50struggle again because they can't lean on the horsepower as
- 20:53much as they have. I mean, the KCM is the fastest
- 20:56bike in a straight line. And if you look at this track,
- 20:58this track had a lot of straight lines, so you're going to get a
- 21:02lot of competitive advantage. I think once the lines get a
- 21:04little shorter and the turns get a little bit more significant,
- 21:08that's where you see the KTM struggle outside of Vinales.
- 21:11And Vinales, to be honest with you, I think was the leading
- 21:15reason why they were doing so good, because they were seeing
- 21:17what he was doing. And then now he's hurt, right?
- 21:20And you know, even Pedro Acosta himself admits like he's a hot
- 21:25head and the people at KTM are hot heads.
- 21:27So it's hard for them sometime to get on the same page because
- 21:30he doesn't know how to explain himself without probably getting
- 21:34super animated, whereas Vinales can also get animated, but he
- 21:38can also really tell you what needs to get done.
- 21:40He's been, he's a little bit more mature, a little bit, you
- 21:43know, a student that the game a little longer.
- 21:45Right. How crazy is how crazy is that?
- 21:47Is it that Jack Miller helped him last year at the beginning
- 21:53of the season anyway? And I've been Yalis and you got
- 21:56guys that been coming up to KTM the whole their whole life and
- 22:01and they weren't able to make the leaps and bounds that these
- 22:04two guys are making. I mean, this is again, how do
- 22:07you explain how good are you? Are you at explaining what's
- 22:11wrong with the bike? If you go back to the pit and
- 22:14just give the bike to the techs and just say, well, this doesn't
- 22:16seem to be working. You know, you need to be able to
- 22:19really tell this to the text exactly what's happening.
- 22:23Because one, they're going to look at your data and they're
- 22:24going to tell you you're full of shit or not.
- 22:26If you're like, dude, I'm breaking as late as I can.
- 22:28They're going to look at the data.
- 22:29Be like no, you're not you know they look at the data and say
- 22:32hey, this other guy on the same bike is breaking at this point
- 22:36and in this sector he's .32 seconds faster than you.
- 22:39You need to do what he's doing in this sector.
- 22:41And this other guy in this sector is doing one point
- 22:44something seconds faster. You need to do what he's doing
- 22:46in that sector. And this is what you know, being
- 22:49part of a team really is. And when you're in a motorsport
- 22:51like this and you have KTM, you have 4 riders, you're sharing
- 22:54the data because you want each rider to benefit from what the
- 22:57others are learning. And again, now with Enyala's
- 23:01out, I don't know how much of that good data is going away
- 23:04because obviously Bender's not giving good information.
- 23:08And Bastianini, you know, he benefited from Hella, you know,
- 23:12fight of diarrhea. So, you know, he wanted to just
- 23:15finish as fast as he could because he had to go to the
- 23:17bathroom before he sticks pants again.
- 23:21So that put a little bit of extra emphasis on him trying to
- 23:23finish as quickly as possible because he didn't want to brown
- 23:27up his suit. But I think Acosta now maybe
- 23:31with a good base can now take a couple steps forward.
- 23:34And like I said, the next two tracks do benefit the KTM.
- 23:38Outside of that, you know, Yamaha kind of did what they
- 23:40did. They were a little bit middling.
- 23:42The big surprise to me is Aprilia.
- 23:44Aprilia now has between Fernandez, who is fighting for
- 23:49his job and I think he's doing a great job now.
- 23:51Like if he can keep this out through the the end of the
- 23:53season, I don't see why Track House wouldn't want to sign it
- 23:56for another two years. Yeah, I think he signed it till
- 23:59the end of 26. I mean, I would, I would try to
- 24:02try to lock him in as early next year as possible.
- 24:06He's going to ride like this, you know, because the last thing
- 24:08you want to do is lose a guy that's on the on the rise to a
- 24:12factory team or something else. All right well, I want to talk
- 24:15about it for you next, but I'll I'll go to TJ and and cheetah
- 24:18today. Have anything on anything they
- 24:20want to add on on the KTM's sad to see Bash any crash out in the
- 24:25main race because he it could have been it might have been a
- 24:28KTM 1-2 again too. Or, you know, actually, I don't
- 24:31know if Zack he was going to give that up.
- 24:33Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'll say not as much as
- 24:36to KTM, but just what Lewis is talking about.
- 24:38Like the best developmental guys are sometimes not the best
- 24:41riders in the same sense. I use the same analogy as like
- 24:44if you look at boxing, basketball, we both talked about
- 24:47these a lot sports a lot. The best coaches aren't the best
- 24:50players. They're the players that have
- 24:52been sort of average in the in the league or in the in the
- 24:55game, but they found a way to still make it almost great,
- 24:59right? And those are the guys that find
- 25:00the way. And so maybe these test riders
- 25:03also the same. They can't speak it, but they
- 25:05can just feel it. Some those guys don't end up
- 25:08becoming the best test riders, you know, and it's the guys that
- 25:11have both. Sometimes that's the rarity like
- 25:13like Evan Alice, right, that can develop it and talk it so and do
- 25:17the fast laps. Right, I agree.
- 25:21More, more, more like an Elish, But I'll say I was going to say
- 25:25on the KTM part, it was good to see Paulus Prager out there.
- 25:29Yes, I'll say that. Yeah, and he, I think he
- 25:33finished ninth in the in the Sprint.
- 25:35So not, as you know, not as great as Danny Pedroza, but
- 25:40nonetheless. I mean, I don't think he, I
- 25:41don't think Paul did any races last year.
- 25:45No, he didn't do any races. He just did testing.
- 25:48And you know, in the race, think about it, he finished one second
- 25:52behind Brad Bender. Bender's been on that bike for
- 25:55like 72 years now. Like bro, the guy that was last
- 25:58week was had a microphone at the last race just came in a second
- 26:02behind you in the actual race. Bender won at Bruno last time,
- 26:07yeah. Yes.
- 26:09And, and now he finished, you know, in the top 10, but
- 26:11literally the guy that didn't have a job last week finished
- 26:15one second behind you. Like that's not a good look.
- 26:19You know, yeah, I think Bender might be struggling a little bit
- 26:22or maybe he's just been on that bike too long and it's and it's
- 26:24time for a change sometimes that that happens.
- 26:27Complacency. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:29But let's talk about Aprilia. As you have mentioned in Lewis,
- 26:32it looks like Fernandez is is finding his way.
- 26:35You know, I don't know if it's the if the help outside of the
- 26:39track or seeing your rookie do better than you in the first
- 26:43fight until he crashed out in Silverstone, you know, or
- 26:47whatever it is. You know, he's figuring it out.
- 26:51You know, Bazecki's looking really good on on the bike.
- 26:56And you know, or hey, Martine had to come in and he had to do
- 26:59that walk of shame. And you know, let's talk about
- 27:01the walk of shame part first, which is that interview where he
- 27:03had to be up there by himself and ask all those questions, you
- 27:07know, just to sit here and be asked how many different way he
- 27:10screwed up. I mean, and that that was tough
- 27:15for me. And he knew that.
- 27:17He knew that had that had to come, that had to be done.
- 27:19It was the best way to do it. But yeah, it sucks to be up
- 27:23there alone where everyone just picking at you on the situation.
- 27:26It wasn't like, oh, how was your race or how was your time off?
- 27:29How did you recover? It was just like, why did you
- 27:32make this decision? Why did you hold back and and,
- 27:36you know, just more antagonizing the situation just to get
- 27:39everything out right at that that moment.
- 27:43There's some certain things that I didn't agree with Martine said
- 27:46that was kind of like him being an asshole about it.
- 27:48But, you know, it is his life and what he wants to pursue.
- 27:52But he was close to losing everything at one point.
- 27:55So. But yeah, that was a tough
- 27:59interview. I would say to go through, to
- 28:00come back and to have to do that and then focus on racing.
- 28:04So I don't know. They could have done it another
- 28:07time, but. Yeah, I know.
- 28:09I, I, I agree. I, I, you know, I've, you know,
- 28:13if I think if he would have chilled out like, you know,
- 28:17months ago, they probably would let all that slide.
- 28:20But you know, he, he, he, he embarrassed the sport and, and
- 28:26so they can't just be like come back home, you know, I'm saying
- 28:29they, he, they have, he has to, he had to go out there and do
- 28:32that. What are your thoughts, Cheetah?
- 28:34I'm mad I didn't see this. How do you?
- 28:37Always online. I was like watch wanting all
- 28:42this and now it's there. OK, I got to go watch it.
- 28:44It's on Moto GP. Yeah, it's on Moto GP, but for
- 28:47sure check it out. We'll go ahead add something,
- 28:50Lewis, since Cheetah didn't get a chance to check it out.
- 28:52I'm going to say two things here.
- 28:54One, who had the worst weekend? Was it Martine during that
- 28:58interview or the HR guy and the CEO at, at, at the Coldplay
- 29:06concert? Because they both had really,
- 29:08really bad moments in front of the camera.
- 29:11Like they both had like, oh shit moments in front of the camera.
- 29:15Like they had to come with receipts and and they were
- 29:18getting charged full price. But.
- 29:22Martine, you know. Martine, you know, I don't know
- 29:25if a prelien pushed it or Moto GP pushed it, but but somebody
- 29:29had to do that. Like Martine had to eat a lot of
- 29:31crow because if he didn't, this was just going to chase him from
- 29:34this round to the next round to the next round.
- 29:36Like, you know, at some point you just got to come out, Meet
- 29:39the Press, get it over with and move on.
- 29:41You know, release the Epstein list.
- 29:43Don't stop worrying about it. Once it's in the air, it's out
- 29:45there, you know, nobody can question it anymore.
- 29:48And also they got to make sure that no other rider gets this
- 29:52idea. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:53And that's the other thing. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised
- 29:55if this was a Dorner. Anything with Aprilia or even a
- 29:58door, anything where it's like, look, you need to go out here,
- 30:00address the press, get this out, clear the air, and then we can
- 30:03move on. Plus, this is a little bit of a,
- 30:06you know, I did this once and got away with it.
- 30:09I thought I could do it again, but guess what?
- 30:11I can't because that the name on the side of the building isn't
- 30:14Martinez Dorna. So you just work here, my man,
- 30:18Like the same your company, you can do whatever you want.
- 30:22Once that was done and it was time to go racing, I'll give you
- 30:25the second best thing that I was tell people.
- 30:27Winning cures everything. If you're doing good, no matter
- 30:31how bad everything else is going on, winning cures everything.
- 30:35The team will forget all about the discrepancies.
- 30:39The mechanics will work hard for you, you know, everything will
- 30:42come together if you're winning. And he came in 7th place after
- 30:46being off the bike, you know, almost half the year.
- 30:49I mean, we're at the summer break.
- 30:50He's only ridden in two rounds, 3 rounds, 2 rounds.
- 30:54Yeah, and he didn't even finish the one round.
- 30:57So for him to be here coming in 7th place again, fast never
- 31:02forgets how to be fast. You lose timing, you lose this,
- 31:05you lose that. But as you get laps, you get
- 31:07your timing back, you get your rhythm back.
- 31:09You understand where the apex is, where the trail, where they
- 31:12let off the brake, where they get back on the gap.
- 31:13Like fast guys, don't forget how to be fast.
- 31:16They just lose their timing. So he got back on it and the
- 31:19more he rides, the better he's going to get his timing and he's
- 31:21already got a benchmark. Bazeki is setting the benchmark.
- 31:24My man technically could have 5 podiums in a row had it not been
- 31:27for a couple of incidences. That's huge.
- 31:30You know, Aprelia has not been in that position to have 5
- 31:33possible podiums in a row ever. Even with Alicia Sparrow, they
- 31:38never had this consistency and if he can continue, if Best can
- 31:43continue this into the next two rounds, which again are are
- 31:45really good rounds for the Aprilia bike and beyond, like
- 31:48this again sets a new bar for Martine to achieve.
- 31:53So it's good man. Again, it's over with, it's done
- 31:55with. Ride the bike, let you ride and
- 31:57speak for yourself. Shut up, don't talk anymore.
- 32:01The less you talk, the better it'll be for you, Martine.
- 32:04That's what I'll tell him. You know, and I'll I'll say, I
- 32:06mean Bez is the only guy that's really pressured Mark beside I
- 32:10wouldn't even say Alex pressured Mark, but Bez is the only guy.
- 32:15Yep, yeah, he's the only one that dice it up with him.
- 32:17Like outside of one or two passes by Peko Bagnaya in random
- 32:23places, like, you know, he hasn't had that person on his
- 32:27ass where like, oh man, you know, I could let off from this
- 32:30nine and a half second lead and I'll still win by 4 1/2 seconds.
- 32:34Like, Oh no, I got to keep pushing because if I slow down a
- 32:37little too much, this guy's going to catch up.
- 32:39And again, man, I'll always say Mark is the most intelligent
- 32:42rider in the entire field, man, the things that he's constantly
- 32:45thinking and calculating and understanding.
- 32:48Like in the interview he even said, look, I got behind Bez and
- 32:51as soon as I felt the tire dropped, that's when I knew I
- 32:54had to make a move. And it's like, really like when
- 32:59your tire went to shit, that's when you decided you're going to
- 33:02go fast. And that's where he kills it,
- 33:04man. When when the tire drops,
- 33:06everybody says, you know, the dude's just on another level.
- 33:10Yeah, yeah. I'll add to that just a little
- 33:13on the Bez, Bez part. I'm just glad for Aprilia that
- 33:16Bez is doing well for them because if he wasn't, then
- 33:20Aprilia, I mean, Martine is going to come back and look like
- 33:23a king. And they don't like this guy.
- 33:25And not just for that reason alone, but now that Aprilia gets
- 33:28a say so at being one of the top competitors right now.
- 33:32It's just I'm glad they're not left alone in in the mix right
- 33:36now without their top rider. And now Bez is now the top rider
- 33:39in because Martinez not showing his number one plate.
- 33:42He's not putting it to good use yet.
- 33:44So I mean once they both start mixing it up man, Aprilia can be
- 33:48a real force to be reckoned with in my opinion.
- 33:51Yeah, for sure, for sure. I completely agree.
- 33:54I think so. I think that Martine seeing what
- 33:58Bez is, I think seeing what I agree because like he you guy
- 34:01agree was nice in the beginning. See what he was doing.
- 34:04See what Bez is doing now and again, Raul Fernandez, what he's
- 34:08doing, it's good motivation for him.
- 34:11I I mean, I you know, I I can't stop thinking like he he could
- 34:14have avoided all this, but if he just kept his mouth shut and
- 34:17because he could have enacted that clause at any point in time
- 34:20in the whole season. So you think he would have
- 34:22waited to have more information. But nonetheless, I think that if
- 34:26you know the way they're looking after this past weekend, like I
- 34:30think you know, again a couple of rounds from now, I think
- 34:32they'll they'll they'll be in the mix for the top five and
- 34:35anyone else a pro years. I won't say I grew up because
- 34:38he's not, he's not there yet, but I think that definitely
- 34:41Martine and Bez and even Raul Fernandez because he's he's been
- 34:45finishing top seven, you know, lately.
- 34:49Absolutely, yeah. You know, let's talk about
- 34:53Grassini and VR46. The only two top Ducatis this
- 34:57round was the factory. Everybody else were either
- 35:01injured or just down in the down, you know, 10th or below or
- 35:05something like that. They can't be happy with the
- 35:08with this right at Ducati. Ducati can't be happy that hey,
- 35:11listen, we're used to having six bikes in the top ten.
- 35:13What's going on? I.
- 35:17Mean you can change once in a while, you know it's it's
- 35:19racing. They can't be greedy.
- 35:23But no, it sucks to see like Alex Marquez go down and you
- 35:30know some decisions that he makes sometimes.
- 35:33I don't know if he's going back to the original Alex now,
- 35:36because this past few weekends haven't been that great.
- 35:39I don't know if this is like the Alex that we know, but hopefully
- 35:44he gets back on his high to continue with the championship
- 35:48push. We know that he's not going to
- 35:49get it, but VR46, I think they were looking good.
- 35:53But you know this, there's some struggles.
- 35:56I didn't really see much other struggles with the VR46.
- 36:02Got you. Frankie's injured, so he's out,
- 36:05but Digio was, he crashed out of the main race, but I think he
- 36:08qualified 18th or something like that.
- 36:10So not really not really a good look.
- 36:14Cheetah. Do you think that, you know, as
- 36:17as a satellite team, they're doing too much because, you
- 36:20know, last year Primark wanted they feel like, you know, they
- 36:23they they can do it. Granted that VR46 that they got
- 36:26an injured rider but still Diggio should have done better
- 36:29than than where he he he finished or didn't finish.
- 36:33Yeah, I mean Diggio definitely, but I mean, just going back to
- 36:36Alex for a second, I wanted to mention him because I feel like
- 36:38he's gotten a taste of the podium juice and now that he's
- 36:41not able to see Marquez insight, he's getting a little antsy and
- 36:44making kind of decisions he could he can't he shouldn't be
- 36:47making right. The decision to go under mirror
- 36:50that took him and mirror out, you know, that's a that's a
- 36:53decision he didn't need to make. I think the pace just wasn't
- 36:56there for him. And I'll be Garrett this
- 36:57weekend. So I don't know, man, I'm not
- 37:01feeling the maturity out of Alex yet.
- 37:04You know, that's that's yet to come.
- 37:06So. Yeah, Yeah, I agree.
- 37:08I agree. And I think we talked about it
- 37:10last week. He rides different with his
- 37:12brother, then he rides with everybody else.
- 37:14He took Petco out last year. And and, you know, Petco had to
- 37:18be gracious and, and and and take back the words he said
- 37:22where I don't think, you know, Marc Marquez has taken back a
- 37:25word yet, you know, and I think that, you know, Alex, I'm the
- 37:32youngest, so I don't I've never, I could have always called on my
- 37:37oldest siblings, I suppose. But I live not to do that and do
- 37:41anything like that. But I think Alex sometimes is
- 37:46moving with his brothers clout. Yeah.
- 37:50Yeah, he wants to be up there. He just wants to.
- 37:52I mean, he's already got the taste of it, right?
- 37:54I mean, first few months, first few races, I mean, he was the
- 37:57man. We were like all besides, Mark
- 37:59wasn't here. He was winning.
- 38:00That's what I said. And then so, but like now he's
- 38:03not there in this one race and he starts getting a little
- 38:05antsy. I don't know, maybe it just
- 38:07wasn't a thing for the whole team.
- 38:09Al Daguerre wasn't looking too fancy either.
- 38:11And he's usually up there in the podiums, at least in sprints.
- 38:13So I don't know, it was just an interesting thing.
- 38:16So hopefully you can keep that hand healthy for the next few
- 38:18races. Alex, that is.
- 38:20What are your thoughts, Lewis? I mean, it could also have been
- 38:24the grip and, and the 24 bikes because last year Bazecki and
- 38:28them couldn't figure out was it no, it was a 23 bike last year.
- 38:31They they could have ran into the same similar problems that
- 38:34the the factories run into. Because when Marquez was in the
- 38:37press conference, he, he, he said all the Ducatis were having
- 38:40issues. Not so you know, it could have
- 38:43been something there. But what are your thoughts,
- 38:44Lewis on I think mix Cressini? I think the the Frankie injury
- 38:51might be a little bit telling because if you look at
- 38:54throughout the last few rounds, Frankie always does well in the
- 38:59practices and Digi is always in the lower half of the practices.
- 39:03And then when it comes race time, Digi kind of does a little
- 39:06bit better. And, you know, maybe he's using
- 39:08Frankie's data, and this weekend he didn't have Frankie's data
- 39:12because if you think about it, he had Frankie's data last
- 39:14weekend. And Frankie did well.
- 39:16He did well. And now this weekend, Frankie's
- 39:19not there. And all of a sudden he's
- 39:20struggling mightily because he doesn't have that second guy
- 39:23collecting data for him. So I'm wondering if that might
- 39:26be one part of it on the VR46 side.
- 39:28But I'm hoping that, you know, by the next round, after this
- 39:31short break, Frankie will be back and, you know, we'll be at
- 39:34a new another track that benefits the Ducatis and we'll
- 39:37see how they do. And on the side of Alex Marquez
- 39:40and the Gracini team, you know, again, Alex made a bad decision.
- 39:46But also, you know, he's still riding with an injured hand.
- 39:49So we don't know how that's affecting him.
- 39:51Maybe he's trying to compensate a little too much.
- 39:53Maybe he's doing a little too much considering that he does
- 39:56have an injured hand. And that does affect how you're
- 39:58able to ride because you can only do so much with the
- 40:01handlebar when one of your hands, you don't have that firm
- 40:04grip or you might be getting a little numb.
- 40:06You don't know what's happening. I mean there, but he definitely
- 40:08did make a bad decision. And I feel really bad for the
- 40:12new Oliveira, which is Johan Mir, because once again, fucking
- 40:16somebody takes him out. Bro, this dude needs to get
- 40:20whatever blessing that Oliveira had get done in his garage now,
- 40:24because now he's the new Oliveira.
- 40:26He's getting taken out round after round of no fault of his
- 40:29own, not doing anything outside of the norm, just in the wrong
- 40:32place at the wrong time. And somebody miscalculates and
- 40:35uses him as a berm. And that sucks for him because,
- 40:39you know, it's not like he was riding badly, like he was doing
- 40:42fairly well, all things considered, compared to the
- 40:45other Hondas. And once again, man, he finds
- 40:48himself in the Kitty litter. And I think you saw that in the
- 40:50frustrations because you saw that he really went after Alex
- 40:54and kind of really gave him a tongue lashing because he was
- 40:57just like, yo, man, you know, dude, we're we're way back here
- 41:00and you're taking me out from behind.
- 41:02You're not even taking me out from the inside where I could
- 41:04see a tire hit me. You're literally taking me out
- 41:06from behind. Like there was no way you're
- 41:08going to make that pass. Anybody that knows anything
- 41:10about apexes and getting out of corners.
- 41:13What what the hell were you doing, bro?
- 41:15Like you're not, there's nothing to there's nothing to see here.
- 41:18It's like you're doing it wrong. This is not how you race.
- 41:21And it's true. You see that sometimes.
- 41:23Sometimes, you know, there are incidents like Alex Marquez and
- 41:26Pekko at Aragon. And I consider that a 5050
- 41:30because Alex thought he had the line and Pekko kind of came in
- 41:35and they kind of just met at the apex.
- 41:37And two bikes can't take the same place at the same time.
- 41:40Something has to give. And in that case, both of them
- 41:42gave, you know, and again, that's might be a little bit
- 41:45Alex being overly aggressive and Pekko thinking, oh, he's going
- 41:49to let me go because I'm Pekko and leaning.
- 41:52Kind of in front of him. He was in front of him.
- 41:55Why would he hit him? Why would he hit him in the leg
- 41:57if he was in front of him? He passed him and then.
- 42:00But if you come. In when you come.
- 42:02In the tires there and I hit your leg.
- 42:10When somebody passes you, sometimes you come off the break
- 42:13a little bit later to catch back up.
- 42:14That's what I'm just saying sometimes.
- 42:17I'm just saying that sometimes Petco thinks that Petco's
- 42:20supposed to get a pass because he's Petco, and it doesn't
- 42:24always happen. I'm not here to let Petco be
- 42:26Petco. I'm here to try to win my race,
- 42:27to try to get as good as as I can.
- 42:30And if you happen to lean in and I happen to be there and my tie
- 42:34hits you in the leg, you might be in front of me, but it's only
- 42:37because you coming into my line. Come on, last year, he said all
- 42:40the year before he said he said he didn't want team order.
- 42:43You know, he wants riders to ride.
- 42:45So I don't you know, he did it. Of course he.
- 42:48He's the same guy that said I want satellite bikes to go
- 42:50slower. Ducati shouldn't give Ducati
- 42:53shouldn't give all the bikes this, all the teams the same
- 42:56bike. Because satellite bikes should
- 42:58be slower. So they got Marc Marquez.
- 43:01No, but then that's he was saying that because Martine was
- 43:04on his ass the entire time and he was like, why does a
- 43:07satellite team have a bike that's as good as mine?
- 43:10Like he's a satellite team. He should have the shitty parts
- 43:12so that way it's easier for me to win.
- 43:15But you guys giving Martine a bike just as good as my bike and
- 43:17he's on a satellite. Look now I got to work like come
- 43:21on man, you can't get this dudes that they call him Peko Princess
- 43:24for a reason bro, he sounds. Like.
- 43:27Yeah bro, he wants the easiest path of victory and that's why
- 43:30he's getting his ass handed to him this year.
- 43:33I I didn't see any of that. What?
- 43:34Okay. Google Pekko wants slower
- 43:40satellite bikes and you'll find it.
- 43:42You know, it could have been, it could have been pinned by Scott
- 43:45Reddick. It was any interviews.
- 43:53Say again. I remember that too.
- 43:56I. Don't think that is that is
- 43:57unfortunate if he's saying it. I mean, it is, you know, a, a,
- 44:01the, the racing industry is a little bit different and you
- 44:04know, we see it in, in Formula One and stuff like that.
- 44:07And, and you know, the number one guy's always gotten favors
- 44:11right? Or the number one ride has
- 44:12always gotten favors on teams. And, and Ducati did anything out
- 44:16of the norm by putting 8 bikes on the grid by sharing data the
- 44:19way they're sharing it and stuff like that.
- 44:21So which he, he profited from. So which is the part that I I
- 44:25wouldn't understand why he would say that 'cause he did profit
- 44:27from having all that information.
- 44:30It would be fine if if Jorge was saying it back last year when he
- 44:33was on the Knot factory team. But there's the link to the
- 44:38interview where Peko Bagnaya argues that slower satellite
- 44:42bikes will make for safer riding.
- 44:45Bitch ass shit. Yeah, pretty much.
- 44:49Safer riding because nobody can catch me.
- 44:51Come on man. Yeah, yeah.
- 44:54Safer riding, huh? Once.
- 44:55You see a bigger factory. Was he?
- 44:57Was he was he specifically talking about Martine or?
- 45:02Well, what other? What other satellite bike was
- 45:04close to him? The Honda?
- 45:05The astral house that. They had no that.
- 45:08Wouldn't matter because it's not a Ducati, right?
- 45:10Yeah, no, they. I thought they had 224 bikes
- 45:12last year they had like 424 bikes.
- 45:14No, they had like 18 Ducatis at one point.
- 45:16Right, right, right. But like last year there was 424
- 45:19and 420 threes. Like VR46 had one and Grassini
- 45:23had one, right? Yep.
- 45:24Yeah, Martine had the newer bike.
- 45:26Oh, Martine and and VR46. VR46 had one rider on a newer
- 45:30bike. So he he could have been talking
- 45:32about did you? No, I doubt it.
- 45:37Rexy man you going forever buying this stock man.
- 45:40I'm not buying this stock, I'm just passing making sure the
- 45:43wealth is. Is he can buy the stock?
- 45:45I'm just trying to bring the value down to a realistic point
- 45:48like if. Somebody said that, you know
- 45:50what I'm saying? Like I guess he's talking about
- 45:51Vinales as well in that. But if somebody said that, I get
- 45:54it from the other side. If he wasn't on the factory
- 45:56team, he's like all the factory riders should not have that much
- 45:59of an advantage over us. I get that a little bit.
- 46:02Even that's a little whiny, but to say that?
- 46:06Point to the factory saying like.
- 46:08Here's the direct quote. A rider behind you that doesn't
- 46:11have the potential is looking to pass 6 riders in one lap and it
- 46:15doesn't work like this because we are on the limit and is
- 46:19they're looking for maximum goal.
- 46:21If you look, the incidents are fairly the first part.
- 46:24So you can read this, but he literally there is no there's
- 46:26he's literally saying there's no longer a six or seven second
- 46:29gap, 10th gap between satellite bikes and factory bikes.
- 46:34And then if that was there, it would it would make it easier.
- 46:37Was that when a couple of riders is, you know, using their bikes
- 46:40as bowling balls? Moto GP every weekend if
- 46:44somebody's using their bike as a bowling ball.
- 46:46That's going to happen and that's up the race direction to
- 46:49give the points, right I. Don't know if it was Frankie or
- 46:51whoever yeah I think that was after like, you know, somebody
- 46:55was trying to pass like 6 bikes yeah so a.
- 46:59Few years back there was a gap in time, you know, then a lot of
- 47:03aerodynamics came into play and and now it's more a fair game.
- 47:08So for everybody. So most bikes have it's the same
- 47:12thing. There was a time where just
- 47:13Ducati had the rear right, the vice Suzuki did it halfway
- 47:17through the season, Suzuki got it and then they were
- 47:19developing. So like they all get in faster
- 47:22with all their dynamics. So everyone has similar time
- 47:25now. So that go, yeah, just complain
- 47:28too much. I can see if he was on a
- 47:30satellite, but you're on the factory, you're still on the
- 47:33best bike at. At the end of the day, you
- 47:35figure out the way to win because you're, you're supposed
- 47:38to be the one that helped develop it the most and, and,
- 47:42and, and continue this brand going forward for the next few
- 47:46years, you know? Well, you know, again, you know,
- 47:48I I I hear that, but you know, Marquez, you know, help
- 47:53undeveloped that Honda, but I. Just want to point out two
- 47:56little quotes from this article, by the way, he says.
- 47:59He says. Meanwhile, the others were
- 48:01further behind because they didn't have the potential, but
- 48:03they also didn't have the same technical level.
- 48:06So what he's saying is that he's just better.
- 48:08No technical level of the bike. Potential as well, but then he
- 48:13well why would he say the bike should be slower then?
- 48:18Well, I can't be technically. I can't believe he's saying to
- 48:20other writers not as skilled. Yeah, that's.
- 48:22What I'm saying he's literally saying they don't have.
- 48:24The talent and then the next thing is the next thing is
- 48:26referring to the level of competition is extremes.
- 48:29I come with receipts every week Rexy.
- 48:33And this was an interview. This was an interview you've
- 48:35got. To read this.
- 48:36Come on man, I come with receipts.
- 48:38I'm going. To have to read.
- 48:40My mind is like a steel trap. Bring.
- 48:41This up because that that that's why I kind of yeah, I thought
- 48:44about. It I'll, I'll read it and get
- 48:46back. But even still, I mean.
- 48:49You say something in a press conference, I'm gonna bring that
- 48:51shit up in like 5 years. Remember back when you said in a
- 48:53press conference? Yeah, hopefully I'm being
- 48:57consistent, right, so. You are you are very consistent.
- 49:02So there you go. And I'll say this before we move
- 49:04on. He also gets more Flack and
- 49:07other writers do do yap off too, but he's getting a lot of Flack.
- 49:11He's the only person to take down to try to take down Marquez
- 49:14and a lot of other writers, kind of.
- 49:18And though that last press conference he did he, he sounds
- 49:21like a guy that's finally realized like he doesn't have it
- 49:25because he pretty much said that right now his target is to try
- 49:28to keep with Alex and see if they can secure 2nd place.
- 49:31Because right now he's he's 6 races behind Mark.
- 49:34It would take 6 DNFS and hims winning six in a row to even
- 49:38come close to getting back on par with Mark.
- 49:41And, you know, with the with the amount of rounds left, I don't
- 49:44see Mark pitching it down the road in six consecutive races,
- 49:48not talking sprints, but in like full races where the points are
- 49:51the biggest, you know, I don't see that happening.
- 49:54I mean, you know, at this pace, Mark can win with five rounds
- 49:58left almost. Something which is.
- 50:01Which is crazy. Yeah, I got a question for you
- 50:03guys. I was, I was going to say is,
- 50:08yeah, PECO has a long way to go to, to even catch up to Mark for
- 50:12sure. But do you think like anyone's
- 50:16even going to be close to catching Mark for the next
- 50:18couple years? No, I think, I think I think
- 50:22he's possibly going to repeat next year.
- 50:26He's right. And his potential, how he's
- 50:28showing off, how he's. No, man, I'm so glad you asked.
- 50:32Just about an hour before this podcast, I was thinking about
- 50:36this man's at his peak. He's not even at his peak at his
- 50:39prime. He's at his prime right now and
- 50:41he's like perfect balance of mental machinery and fitness.
- 50:46He just got this perfect aura about him that he's been perfect
- 50:49last five races, sprints and races first.
- 50:52It's perfect. I will say this, there's maybe a
- 50:56couple of people. I think Martine because we don't
- 51:00know what we're going to get yet.
- 51:01So he, he, he could right. If he's already feeling good at
- 51:05on the on the bike. Besseki, I think it's another
- 51:09person. And I think Frankie, outside of
- 51:12those three people like because they, they, you know, I, you
- 51:17know, I think they have what it takes, but I, I can't see the
- 51:21rest of the guys and you know, there's nothing is impossible.
- 51:26But no, I think it'd be, it's going to be hard next year for
- 51:29them to beat them, but I don't think they're doing much
- 51:31development on the bike. So you never know.
- 51:35Barring injury and barring something really, really crazy
- 51:38happened in 2027 where they put the tires on backwards on all
- 51:42the bikes. Like I know that 27 is going to
- 51:44be a new bike, new tire and everything else but barring
- 51:48injury, I mean Mark has already had two pretty good runs.
- 51:52He had two back-to-back. He had a back-to-back wins in
- 51:552324 like his first and second season.
- 51:58Then he had the the Rossi special season where he lost to
- 52:02Lorenzo. And then after that he railed
- 52:06off 4 championships in a row and he was on his way to 1/5
- 52:08championship before he got injured because that that year
- 52:12he was doing the same thing he's doing this year.
- 52:13He was playing track day coach, he was going out there and just
- 52:17managing the time, doing whatever he wanted, put in the
- 52:19bike where he wanted and nobody had any answers to to to give it
- 52:23what he was doing. And he would have won that
- 52:25championship and he probably would have won the next
- 52:27championship. I mean, we technically could
- 52:29looking at looking at a guy that won five or six in a row.
- 52:32Now he has an opportunity on a bike that is competitive and his
- 52:36his talent level. Just like Cheetah said, it's
- 52:39just how it's ever been. I mean, the dude came into this
- 52:41year in unbelievable shape. His ABS got little ABS.
- 52:45Each of his ABS got like 6 little ABS, man, that's crazy.
- 52:49He got like an 82 pack and everybody in the paddocks, you
- 52:54know, people have been quoted as saying like that first trip to
- 52:57that first round of testing when they were flying out to that
- 53:00first round, people were saying that Alex got on the that mark
- 53:04got on the plane already with a look like we're in trouble and
- 53:11we're in trouble. Look at us.
- 53:12We're getting our asses handed to us.
- 53:13Like we're professional riders. We're the top of our peak.
- 53:16Imagine a Formula One rider that wins every race by like 8
- 53:19seconds that nobody can even touch.
- 53:22Like that's what we're looking at here.
- 53:23We're looking at, you know, somebody that's at the peak of
- 53:25their fitness, peak of their mental strength.
- 53:27I mean, mentally you have to be super strong for any kind of
- 53:31Motorsports cuz that's where you win it or lose it.
- 53:33Can you bring yourself into every weekend and, and push
- 53:37yourself to be the best and not make mistakes.
- 53:40And when you make mistakes, forget them and go back out
- 53:43there and ride. And that's what he's doing, man.
- 53:44He crashes and he comes back out like he never crashed.
- 53:47He does this, he learns from it. He doesn't do it again.
- 53:50He crashes. He's doing what he used to do,
- 53:51crashing in practice, but avoiding the crashes in the
- 53:54race, pushing as much as he can when it doesn't count, so that
- 53:57when it does count, he kind of already knows the limits.
- 54:01I mean, going at this rate, you know, if the bike, if everything
- 54:04stays the same, I mean, it's going to be, it's going to be
- 54:07hard to take him down. Like right now, his only
- 54:09competition is gravity. Yeah, before we get out of here,
- 54:16let's talk about what Joe Roberts did, because pretty
- 54:20impressive for a guy who struggled at the beginning of
- 54:23the year through injuries and you know that, you know, he
- 54:29seems, I don't I don't remember how did he win a race last year?
- 54:31I. Think he won a?
- 54:34Few or or he was on a podium and I think maybe he was on Mojelo
- 54:39on the podium or something like that.
- 54:41You know what you guys thoughts of that?
- 54:42It's pretty good to see. You know, the team winning is
- 54:45good for him because you know him and like Jake Dixon, these
- 54:48guys have been in the in in Moto 2 now for a minute and you got
- 54:52all these young writers that that that you know, getting
- 54:56talked about, you know, week in and week out and stuff like
- 54:59that. What you guys think of that,
- 55:00what Joe Roberts did this past weekend?
- 55:04I think it was. I mean, I didn't know all the
- 55:07history about him in this track. I think it's like his his debut
- 55:15at this track a few years back or he has a lot of history with
- 55:18this track. So to come back and and, you
- 55:21know, responsible until summer break.
- 55:24He even said it himself that, you know, it gives you
- 55:26confidence. You want to go out there and do
- 55:28the best you can. And he said, I'm winning this
- 55:31race. So it was really good to
- 55:33actually finally hear someone American speak on the podium
- 55:38with with the one or two series. So I'm really, I'm really happy,
- 55:43you know, hand the national anthem and everything.
- 55:45So I'm really happy to finally see him back up there.
- 55:49Last year he had a really good run, kind of faded toward the
- 55:51end. But it was really good to see
- 55:54Joe back up there. Didn't really expect it.
- 55:56Like I said, I didn't know the history that he had with his
- 55:59track. You know, a lot of people have
- 56:01some history with his track and they do pretty well so.
- 56:06Yeah, yeah, the fact the fact that he won their last time just
- 56:10shows he's got he's got some favorites.
- 56:13It's good to see. Obviously an American, you know,
- 56:15be up there in in the European pretty much the European league
- 56:18is what it should be called because they're just dominating
- 56:22in every aspect, 2 wheels. So even even Tour de France
- 56:26stuff, right? So, but, but it's just it's good
- 56:28to see that man. I mean, we need we need more
- 56:30American guys up there coming back from his injury just to see
- 56:33a comeback and, and, and have that happened.
- 56:36I mean, that's, that's what we all love athletes for is just
- 56:40those those stories where they go through adversity and still
- 56:43able to make it to the top, especially in this case a
- 56:45podium. So this is always good to see
- 56:48that. I just took a quick look and it
- 56:52looks like it's his third top, the third time he's been on the
- 56:56top step since he got to Moto 2. So he hasn't had a lot of
- 57:01visits. So whenever you can get a visit,
- 57:02that's great. And coming off of like, you
- 57:04know, he had an injury kind of messed him up.
- 57:07It's it took him out of the game for a while.
- 57:09But coming back from an injury and getting on a top step,
- 57:12hopefully that gives him some confidence going forward.
- 57:14I know he just signed a new deal, so he's going to stay with
- 57:18the team a little bit longer. So hopefully this is a sign of
- 57:21good things to come. Hopefully the team can continue
- 57:23to give him a competitive bike and he can kind of keep going
- 57:27forward. I mean, it sucks to only have,
- 57:30you know, one guy and all of GP that's an American.
- 57:33So, you know, here in our our national anthem over the
- 57:38speakers, I'm sure the people in Europe are like, I never heard
- 57:40that before. It's like the first time I've
- 57:41ever heard that. What is that?
- 57:43What's that sound? That's that's pretty funny, but
- 57:50it's pretty good, man. You know, I hope the kid, well,
- 57:54he's still got a, you know, a good amount of career in front
- 57:56of him and hopefully he can keep doing it.
- 57:58As for Jake Dixon, you know, we mentioned him really briefly if
- 58:02you guys haven't seen like, it looks like he's going to World
- 58:05Super Bike and like I told you, he'll never see a Moto GP bike
- 58:10and neither will Aaron Connett. So no, no, no.
- 58:17I was just what he said today, like, like, I don't know, I
- 58:25think he's he screwed himself in a way because who's that?
- 58:31And and qualifying Eric and, and qualifying, you know, he
- 58:35crashed. So, you know, he didn't get a
- 58:38chance to, you know, get on the road that he should be on.
- 58:42And him going through Turn 1 when the race starts, you know,
- 58:45he tried to jump to the front. And it's just so unfortunate.
- 58:49Yeah. You know, that's that's just
- 58:50pretty. Pretty unfortunate.
- 58:51What do you guys think of Ramirez?
- 58:54Should he he he knew he had too long that penalty.
- 58:57Should he even have been battling with Joe in the
- 58:58beginning? I can understand another brand
- 59:04but but you know. That that's a tough one, but
- 59:07somebody after the race probably went up to him and were like,
- 59:10yo, let me talk to you a minute. One of the only fans, team
- 59:14managers probably went up to him say, let's go over here where
- 59:17somebody can't hear you scream because I want to talk to you
- 59:19about something and probably like give him a good but like I
- 59:22would have punched him in the face.
- 59:23I'll be like, yo, you're fighting for nothing and you're
- 59:26literally going to take out almost your own team rider
- 59:28that's doing much better when you got to make like, you know,
- 59:31you're going to lose 8 1/2 nine seconds going through the long
- 59:34life penalty. Like what?
- 59:35What the hell you doing? You think you're going to get a
- 59:37nine second lead that you've never had in your entire career?
- 59:40Moto 2, like again, this is this is young people making stupid,
- 59:45stupid decisions at at the moment.
- 59:47Like somebody probably should have spoken to him before the
- 59:50race. Because sometimes these are
- 59:52things that in the moment when you have the helmet on, you
- 59:54don't think about because you're so worried about corner to
- 59:57corner and your apexes and your braking and your gearing and
- 1:00:00everything else that you don't have that bigger.
- 1:00:03Who's on the other bike? Yeah.
- 1:00:05Well, you don't have that bigger field of view, you know, and not
- 1:00:07everybody has that Marquez field of view where he can calculate
- 1:00:10tire pressure and laps and this and that.
- 1:00:12You know, this guy's just I'm trying to get to the next turn
- 1:00:15stop. I'm trying to get to the next
- 1:00:16turn and he done thinking, oh shit, I got to do too.
- 1:00:19A long lap penalty. I'm going to lose this much
- 1:00:21time. Even if I get to the front, I'm
- 1:00:23still going to end up in the back.
- 1:00:24Like why am I going to possibly take my own teammate out?
- 1:00:27Like these are the things you really got to think about.
- 1:00:29And when you make those kind of decisions on a bike and make
- 1:00:32those kind of mistakes, that's the kind of thing that high
- 1:00:35level managers look at and say this guy doesn't have that IT
- 1:00:39factor for the mentality to to do what he needs to do.
- 1:00:42Unless your last. Unless your name Jorge Lorenzo.
- 1:00:45Unless you're Jorge, Lorenzo or Rossi.
- 1:00:50You know, one more thing, I, you know, I think Vietay and and
- 1:00:55Roberts should be on a team together.
- 1:00:57I, I, I think that'll be a, that would be a, a, a good teammate
- 1:01:01of Roberts, because both these guys kind of they, they do one
- 1:01:04off. So certain tracks they do really
- 1:01:05well for granted, they've both had a lot of injuries the last
- 1:01:09couple of years, you know, collarbone issues and stuff.
- 1:01:12I think the BA take it was an Argentina somewhere.
- 1:01:16I figure where he broke his last year, whatever and and that
- 1:01:19messed them up last year. What would you think about those
- 1:01:21two guys teaming out? I'll let someone else go
- 1:01:27personal. Are you just saying that because
- 1:01:30they both have mullets? They're both really good riders
- 1:01:36and unfortunately, you know, like, like, you know, you got,
- 1:01:39we talked about the cadets and the Jake Dixons of the world,
- 1:01:42like eventually these guys. How long can you hold on to a
- 1:01:45seat Moto 2 when you start to push 2728?
- 1:01:49You know, after 26. If you if you got good results,
- 1:01:52you can stay there for a long time.
- 1:01:53I mean, Tony, Tony Lee has won the first Moto 2 championship
- 1:01:56when he's like 57 years old. Dude there's dudes out of 1716
- 1:02:00that's trying to get into Moto 2 now all.
- 1:02:02Right. But if but if I'm on a team and
- 1:02:05I'm consistently in the top five, my team's not going to
- 1:02:07want to let me go if my teammate is in the top, in the bottom 15.
- 1:02:11Yeah, but like, but none of these guys like are consistently
- 1:02:15in the top five in the last couple of years, granted.
- 1:02:17So then why would I want 2 inconsistent guys in the same
- 1:02:19team? Like you got to try to find that
- 1:02:2411 consistent guy, and usually that's the older guy because one
- 1:02:29of the things you want to do is you want to put the younger guy
- 1:02:31with the older guy so that the older guy can kind of school a
- 1:02:34younger guy. Because at a certain point, like
- 1:02:36I told you, the older guy is not going to get that step to Moto
- 1:02:39GP. But he has enough experience in
- 1:02:41Moto 2 that he could probably mentor a younger rider and give
- 1:02:44him that little bit of a step up.
- 1:02:45And maybe that younger rider will have the opportunity in GP.
- 1:02:48But I don't want to put 2 old guys on the same team because
- 1:02:52what am I doing here, man? I'm just paying old guys to go
- 1:02:54racing, right? I'm not going to be able to
- 1:02:56level anybody up. Anyone else want to add to that?
- 1:03:04Go. Go 2 old guys on the same team.
- 1:03:10Well guys, there's a break for like 3 weeks in Moto GP, but we
- 1:03:13still got Moto America and we still got World Super Bike BSB.
- 1:03:18Looks like Scott Redmond will be in BSB so we'll we'll see how he
- 1:03:22does there. Until next week, guys.
- 1:03:25Peace. Take care guys, take care.
