• 4:38
Speaker 1: Overall, fifty-five percent of callers accomplish their goal of speaking to someone within one minute and scheduling an appointment for within one week.
• 4:49
Speaker 1: Forty-two percent of the dealerships achieve scores of 70 or more for providing a proactively helpful experience that goes above and beyond the customer's basic expectation, hogan said.

• 12:16
Speaker 1: Uh, what we do here once in a while when we can we have time, hemmings has this thing that they put out on Mondays called the Hemmingscom Sold Cars Roundup.
• 12:27
Speaker 1: So these are cars that have sold through their online auction Used cars, clearly.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: So we try to guess.
• 12:34
Speaker 1: Now I could drill down but it's way too much work.
• 12:38
Speaker 1: We were just kind of trying to make it simple here on certain cars and models.
• 12:42
  Speaker 2: It's called simple.
• 12:42
Speaker 2: We like simple on certain cars and models.
• 12:43
Speaker 1: We call it simple.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: We like simple, so I give the year, make and model of the car and then you decide what you think was the sold car price for this.
• 12:54
Speaker 1: Okay, Now, Jeff is a big Cadillac fan.
• 12:57
Speaker 1: They can play along at home.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: And, Jeff, what would you give for a 2006 Cadillac XLR-V?
• 13:10
Speaker 2: That's one of them that I'm really not a fan of.
• 13:12
Speaker 1: I understand that, so it was built on a Corvette chassis and it didn't fly.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: It didn't sell that well for them, but now today they're a little bit rare.
• 13:24
Speaker 1: What's the year again is a 2006 xlr v, so it's got the v8 in it yeah, what do you think that that's sold for it's convertible?
• 13:34
  Speaker 1: 21?
• 13:36
Speaker 1: Now this is a hundred thousand dollar car.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, he says 21.
• 13:42
  Speaker 3: He says 21.
• 13:43
Speaker 3: I was thinking more like 15, because, but I don't have a clue Really, I don't even know what it looks like.
• 13:48
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 13:50
Speaker 1: Well, it sold for $32,550.
• 13:53
Speaker 2: I wouldn't have given that no.
• 13:56
Speaker 1: If you're into that sort of thing, how about?
• 13:57
  Speaker 1: a 1971 Chevy Corvette convertible.
• 14:02
Speaker 1: Ooh, what do you think that that would sell for 71.
• 14:07
Speaker 1: Looks good, deep forest green with a white vinyl top on it.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: Ooh, black walls, trim rings.
• 14:13
Speaker 1: I mean it looks good.
• 14:15
Speaker 1: It's got the chrome bumper in the front and the back.
• 14:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, that was last year, the chrome bumper, wasn't it?
• 14:19
  Speaker 1: I believe so.
• 14:20
Speaker 1: Well, remember they kind of divided it in half, they split it On the back.
• 14:24
Speaker 1: The 72, I think, had the rubberized bumper color-coded, and then the back one was still chrome, and then 73, I think that they went the urethane, whatever.
• 14:34
Speaker 2: So I'm thinking, mike, you go first.
• 14:37
  Speaker 1: You said it.
• 14:38
Speaker 1: What year is it?
• 14:39
  Speaker 1: 71 Corvette convertible.
• 14:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, the mileage, and then things really drive the price on that.
• 14:45
Speaker 3: So let's just say it's medium average.
• 14:47
  Speaker 3: I would say 22.
• 14:51
  Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll go 18.
• 14:54
  Speaker 1: 31.5.
• 14:55
Speaker 1: Must be really clean, must be a nice car.
• 14:57

Speaker 1: It's got a light blue body and a white cab.
• 15:17
Speaker 1: Looks like it's been taken care of.
• 15:20
Speaker 1: What do you think something like that would sell.
• 15:23
Speaker 2: What do they call a square?
• 15:24
  Speaker 1: body A 69 Chevy C10.
• 15:28

• 15:42
  Speaker 2: Let's go 25.
• 15:44
  Speaker 3: 16.8.
• 15:45
Speaker 3: Maybe they're not as hot as I thought they were.
• 15:49

• 16:16
  Speaker 1: It's nice.
• 16:17
Speaker 1: That would be one to take on the Hot Rod Tour of Texas.
• 16:22
Speaker 1: I think I'd have to lower it and put some other different tires.
• 16:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, you'd have to do a little bit, but then the price starts going down 41.
• 16:30
Speaker 3: Dodge Deluxe, I'd have to say probably 18.
• 16:34
  Speaker 3: 46.
• 16:36
Speaker 1: Well, let's split it in the middle.
• 16:37

• 21:01
Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you what.
• 21:02
  Speaker 2: Traveling and tires.
• 21:04
Speaker 2: Well, traveling is just to get your tires going for the summer season.
• 21:09
Speaker 2: Places that you can buy them, because this is going to be my tire day.
• 21:12
Speaker 2: Different places, different opportunities.
• 21:16
Speaker 2: You're going to replace them because they're old.
• 21:18
Speaker 2: You get a flat.
• 21:18
Speaker 2: You need to get two tires.
• 21:20
Speaker 2: One tire maybe change the spare, but here you go.
• 21:25
Speaker 2: These are the places you can buy tires that are fairly inexpensive.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: Costco is one of them.
• 21:28
Speaker 2: You may not know that, but Costco does have an automotive department.
• 21:32
Speaker 2: Surprised to know that you can get tires at Costco in addition to your rotisserie chicken Michael or a hot dog Don.
• 21:37
Speaker 2: Check out your local Costco Tire Center for prices.
• 21:40
Speaker 2: Remember to factor in free installation.
• 21:43
Speaker 2: Five-year road hazard warranty is also there, rotation balance and other checks of your automobile.
• 21:52
Speaker 2: The next one is Tire Rack.
• 21:55
Speaker 2: Now, this is an online service.
• 21:56
Speaker 2: You may want a specialized tire, perhaps looking for tires that can only be shipped directly to you.
• 22:01
Speaker 2: Tire Rack has plenty of options direct to the consumer dealer or the shop that you do business with.
• 22:09
Speaker 2: When you compare some shopping, how can they?
• 22:10
  Speaker 1: compete.
• 22:11
Speaker 1: I don't understand how they can compete price-wise with the big box stores or with, say, for instance, Discount.
• 22:18
  Speaker 2: Tire.
• 22:18
Speaker 2: They can price match, and it used to be back in the day when I was heavily involved in it, but that includes shipping.
• 22:23
Speaker 2: In some cases it does, but when they price matched back in the day, it was only for a brick-and-mortar store because of the shipping, and the tires are cheaper online than they were at that discount tire or the Costco or the Walmart.
• 22:36
Speaker 2: But nowadays they're all about the same price.
• 22:40
Speaker 2: So that's all washed the shipping and all that stuff.
• 22:43
Speaker 2: Sometimes it's included, sometimes they waive it, depending on the value of what you're buying.
• 22:48
Speaker 2: I'll be, I have no clue.
• 22:49
Speaker 2: Yep, so a tire rack is one of them.
• 22:51
Speaker 2: And then, of course, the mobile installation.
• 22:53
Speaker 2: A tire rack has a service where they'll drive up to your house in their truck and put them on for you in your driveway or your work.
• 22:58
Speaker 1: I don't want my tires delivered to my house.
• 23:00
Speaker 1: I have nothing, so this would work.
• 23:04
  Speaker 1: A house or a business?
• 23:05
Speaker 1: Well, I mean, yeah, take it to the, for instance, carolina.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know whether she has mounting facilities there at her shop.
• 23:15
Speaker 2: I know that, but we're going to get into that here in just a minute.
• 23:17
Speaker 3: I know another journalist that I follow on Facebook.
• 23:21
Speaker 3: She ordered tires and she had a picture of them in her driveway all four Yep.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: She was looking for somebody to put them on.
• 23:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you've got to figure that out before you do that.
• 23:30
Speaker 2: Now, that's her fault, well.
• 23:32
Speaker 3: I understand, but you know a lot of people get caught that way.
• 23:35
Speaker 3: Oh, I can get them online cheaper.
• 23:36
Speaker 3: Well, now it's like a dog chasing a car.
• 23:39
Speaker 3: What do you do with it when you catch it?
• 23:40
  Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
• 23:42
Speaker 2: So you have to consider that in there and they'll tell you all about that once you get on their site.
• 23:46
Speaker 2: The next one we have is Walmart.
• 23:48
  Speaker 2: Oh, wally World.
• 23:49
Speaker 2: May not be traditional to consider when you're in the market for a few tires, but when you're at Walmart you can get your car serviced, your oil changed, your tires rotated, balanced.
• 23:57
Speaker 2: You can get new tires while you're doing the shopping, while you're looking at the shoe department or you're buying a new bathing suit, mike.
• 24:05
Speaker 2: So all of that stuff while you're shopping, you can have the stuff done.
• 24:07
Speaker 1: Mike buying a bathing suit.
• 24:09
Speaker 3: Really they don't sell.
• 24:12
  Speaker 2: G-strings there.
• 24:13
Speaker 2: And the next one we have that you can buy tires for your vehicle is Tire Buyer.
• 24:18
Speaker 2: You have different options for tires depending on what you need.
• 24:22
Speaker 2: The Tire Buyer can help you navigate those choices.
• 24:25
Speaker 2: They all can do that.
• 24:26
Speaker 2: It's just a matter of your choice.
• 24:35
Speaker 2: You can do that.
• 24:35
Speaker 2: You can do that.
• 24:35
  Speaker 2: No, you yeah.
• 24:36
Speaker 2: Typical options like searching maybe your make model they put all that in.
• 24:37
Speaker 2: They will direct you to the size of the tire for your vehicle.
• 24:39
Speaker 2: If you're looking for high performance tires, that's a good place to go.
• 24:42
Speaker 2: Also, online for high performance tires is probably the better way to go, unless you know somebody that deals with performance tires but then you still got the same problem of getting them mounted, because not everybody can, can mount here's your answer to that.
• 24:55
Speaker 2: There's a place called simple tire.
• 24:57
Speaker 2: Simple tire works with shops in your area.
• 25:01
Speaker 2: So if you go to simple tire you're looking for tires and you buy the tires, they will recommend.
• 25:06
Speaker 2: We'll go to don's's Lube or go to Mike's body repair place.
• 25:12
Speaker 2: They will do your tires for you.
• 25:14
  Speaker 2: So they recommend.
• 25:15
  Speaker 2: So it's like a mobile.
• 25:15
Speaker 2: Well, no, they recommend places.
• 25:18
Speaker 3: Okay, you're going to buy the tires.
• 25:19
Speaker 2: It's a freaking motor store to go to, and the nearest place near you is two miles away.
• 25:23
Speaker 2: We'll deliver them to that place and you can set up the appointment.
• 25:26
Speaker 3: Oh, so they don't send them to your house, they send them to that place, because they are part of that.
• 25:30
Speaker 2: I don't want tires sent to my house.
• 25:33
Speaker 1: I'm going to put four brand new Corvette tires in the Corvette to take it somewhere to get them mounted, not Exactly, I agree.
• 25:41
Speaker 2: We know his feeling on that.
• 25:42
Speaker 2: Amazon is another one Really does have everything you need, including tires, but you've got to be careful because of course there's no installation.
• 25:51
Speaker 2: They will deliver them anywhere you want, depending on the address you give them.
• 25:55
Speaker 2: But getting a retailer to do that is okay In some cases.
• 25:59
Speaker 2: You have to look at what Amazon does, because if you buy a tire, it's only going to be one tire, not one set.
• 26:06
Speaker 2: So if you're looking for four tires, you've got in four tires.
• 26:09
Speaker 2: So there's a little discrepancy with amazon on that pay attention.
• 26:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the last one is sam's club.
• 26:14
Speaker 2: Uh, of course it's just like the costcos.
• 26:16
Speaker 2: Uh, they have a shop there.
• 26:18
Speaker 2: You can get your oil changed and all that good stuff while you're walking around getting that hot dog or getting that piece of pizza mike or that bathing suit.
• 26:26
Speaker 2: So there you go Check them out.
• 26:28
Speaker 1: And I will say this, that Jeffrey helped me a lot when it came to purchasing the replacement tires on the Corvette.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: Now, the car's tires that it came with that were on there.
• 26:41
Speaker 1: I didn't realize how thin they were in the back because certain people that owned the car prior to me apparently burnt them off of it.
• 26:49
Speaker 1: But whatever the case may be, jeff helped me in the fact that he made it made sure for the guy over at discount to make a note on the order sheet that I wanted these tires, but I wanted to make sure that the build date on those tires were within what?
• 27:09
Speaker 2: six months of each other or something Good with a year, but six months is even better, yeah.
• 27:13
Speaker 1: So all of the tires were the same period of birthdays.
• 27:18
Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, build date.
• 27:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, the build date of the tire, and I never thought about that.
• 27:23
Speaker 1: No, but you know, when you buy tires and you don't have somebody that is really looking out for you, like Jeff looked out for me, I wouldn't know.
• 27:30
Speaker 1: A new tire is a new tire.
• 27:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, give me four tires, or?
• 27:34
Speaker 3: three tires, or whatever it is.
• 27:35
Speaker 1: The build date can be important.
• 27:36
Speaker 1: And why is that, Jeff?
• 27:38
Speaker 2: Well, because they deteriorate.
• 27:39
Speaker 2: Tires do rot on the shelf like anything.
• 27:42
Speaker 2: It's like a head of lettuce.
• 27:43
  Speaker 2: It generally goes.
• 27:44
Speaker 2: Bad Tires do that too.
• 27:45
Speaker 2: And the next segment of my Motor Minute we're going to talk a little bit about something like that.
• 27:49
Speaker 2: Okay, good, so I just kind of led into it.
• 27:51
Speaker 2: So there you go.
• 27:52
  Speaker 2: Interesting.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: Just call me Carnac.
• 27:54
Speaker 3: I didn't know you could do that.
• 27:55
Speaker 3: Huh, I didn't know that you could tell them that I want that.
• 27:59
  Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely.
• 28:00
Speaker 2: That tire's too old.
• 28:01
Speaker 2: You've got to give me they're flat out telling it the tires and they know they think that you're not going to know.
• 28:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not paying attention.
• 28:09
Speaker 2: It's the week and the year the tire was built.
• 28:15
Speaker 3: I guarantee you one of my girls.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: She's bought some tires recently.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: She never looked at that.
• 28:17
Speaker 2: I never did either.
• 28:17
Speaker 2: She just had a bad tire.
• 28:18
  Speaker 3: I need a new one.
