- 0:01Speaker 1: This is it.
- 0:02Speaker 2: It's like Friday, but it's Monday. For some people that
- 0:05Speaker 2: might feel that way, if today's our last workday for
- 0:07Speaker 2: a little bit before the holidays, or maybe it's a
- 0:09Speaker 2: Thursday for you, if tomorrow's your last workday for a
- 0:11Speaker 2: little bit, Tomorrow's Tuesday. If you're listening to this right
- 0:13Speaker 2: now on the podcast platform for FT, tomorrow is the
- 0:17Speaker 2: last live show of twenty twenty five. Last one last
- 0:22Speaker 2: live show of twenty twenty five. Now we will put
- 0:24Speaker 2: out other content we've been working hard on, some other
- 0:27Speaker 2: thangs we're working on.
- 0:28Speaker 1: It might include movies.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It also will include some moves we're expecting for twenty
- 0:32Speaker 2: twenty six, being that many moves haven't happened yet, but
- 0:35Speaker 2: look forward to that. You'll have plenty of Shnanigan's today.
- 0:37Speaker 2: We have really good guests. I do want to make
- 0:40Speaker 2: sure we get to the big moves.
- 0:42Speaker 1: So let's hit it.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Charge about charging the mound Todd Father with a little
- 0:49Speaker 2: Wilson Contreras acquisition for the Boston Red Sox. Some fans
- 0:53Speaker 2: might look and say, hey, wait, we have a first
- 0:55Speaker 2: baseman named Tristan Cassis. Now he's coming off another big
- 0:58Speaker 2: injury and the Sea and might start late for him.
- 1:01Speaker 2: They do have a DH position they can utilize for
- 1:03Speaker 2: a number of people. They do have an extra outfielder
- 1:06Speaker 2: still which we can get into as well, but they
- 1:08Speaker 2: can mix and match with that DH spot. But let's
- 1:10Speaker 2: focus on what happened here. Wilson Contreras has put a
- 1:13Speaker 2: very good numbers Tod Father and in his first year
- 1:15Speaker 2: at first base it looked pretty good defensively. The Red
- 1:18Speaker 2: Sox send Hunter Dobbins and name people know from his
- 1:20Speaker 2: rookie season, and he's the prize of the package plus
- 1:23Speaker 2: two other prospects four mister Contreras's services. Contreras also has,
- 1:28Speaker 2: let's see, forty one point five million bucks left in
- 1:31Speaker 2: his deal and the Red Sox are going to get
- 1:34Speaker 2: eight million of that coverage. So they're paying thirty six
- 1:38Speaker 2: and a half million over the next two seasons.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Well, no, it's.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Thirty six and a half plus a buyout on a
- 1:44Speaker 2: club option for twenty twenty eight, So the Red Sox
- 1:46Speaker 2: are paying all but forty one and a half million
- 1:48Speaker 2: dollars of that deal. There's a no trade cause for Contreras.
- 1:52Speaker 2: He waived it in order to go to Boston. What
- 1:54Speaker 2: do you think of this move for the Red Sox,
- 1:56Speaker 2: tod Father doesn't cost him a ton of money.
- 1:58Speaker 1: See you figure they still have some room left.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Alex Bragman, I couldn't hear you. You do say Alex pregnant.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I mean other times you're interested, but I'm just saying, like,
- 2:08Speaker 2: maybe you can get pregnant before the Blue Jays or
- 2:10Speaker 2: Diamondbacks or whoever else for sure.
- 2:12Speaker 4: And I heard he's narrowed down to a couple of
- 2:14Speaker 4: teams too, as we get into that. But Wilson catres
- 2:18Speaker 4: you talked about him a lot, Scott, and I remember,
- 2:20Speaker 4: you know, we had that conversation about man, he'd be
- 2:22Speaker 4: a good fit on this team or that team, and
- 2:24Speaker 4: I was thinking, okay, but this one seems this one
- 2:28Speaker 4: seems right. You know, the Red Sox seemed like what
- 2:30Speaker 4: were they doing this offseason? Were they gonna try and
- 2:33Speaker 4: get and how would they decipher who they need?
- 2:36Speaker 3: You know they need other.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Things, but you know, the solidify a guy like Wilson
- 2:40Speaker 4: Contreras who's been playing for a while, a veteran player,
- 2:44Speaker 4: a guy switched positions. The first base not the biggest target,
- 2:47Speaker 4: but he's played well there. So I know Cratzy can
- 2:51Speaker 4: attest to this. If you're a catcher, you can most
- 2:54Speaker 4: likely play any infield position. You might not be the
- 2:56Speaker 4: quickest at it, you might not get to every ball,
- 2:58Speaker 4: but you could field every single ball that comes to you.
- 3:01Speaker 4: You'll knock it down one way or another and make
- 3:03Speaker 4: the play. But again, this is a good spot for
- 3:05Speaker 4: the Red Sox.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I like this move. They got rid of a couple guys, Okay,
- 3:09Speaker 3: so be it. But to get a guy that.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Is well known, who's been playing for a while and
- 3:14Speaker 4: that can play and is gonna love hitting with that
- 3:15Speaker 4: green monster and left field, good start there for the
- 3:18Speaker 4: Red Sox.
- 3:22Speaker 5: God I caught. There's no chance I'm going to play
- 3:26Speaker 5: any other position. Besides you said any for any other
- 3:30Speaker 5: infield position. That's why we get all of our ground
- 3:33Speaker 5: balls out during VP. Yes, nobody sees the times you
- 3:38Speaker 5: make airs. Nobody sees the below average footwork. The reason
- 3:42Speaker 5: I think it really worked for Wilson is because he
- 3:46Speaker 5: is super athletic behind a dish. He was always he
- 3:49Speaker 5: always moved around really well. I think some of the
- 3:52Speaker 5: things that lacked for him behind the dish were the
- 3:55Speaker 5: things that are valued behind a dish. But his athleticism
- 3:58Speaker 5: was never in question. He wanted to throw everywhere. He
- 4:01Speaker 5: had a good arm. His receiving was below average, his
- 4:04Speaker 5: game calling was suspect at times. But he's really made
- 4:10Speaker 5: himself into a first baseman. And I'll credit whoever writer
- 4:13Speaker 5: wants to credit, whoever broke this, but Scotti Broun is
- 4:17Speaker 5: the first one to break it that he's going to Boston.
- 4:21Speaker 5: So it's a great fit. Like and it's another move
- 4:24Speaker 5: by Breslo that says and it's not just Breslo, but
- 4:28Speaker 5: we're talking about the Red Sox right now, that says, yes,
- 4:32Speaker 5: the amount of money per year is higher. You probably
- 4:35Speaker 5: could have gotten like a Ryan O'Hearn, you probably could
- 4:40Speaker 5: have gotten I'm trying to think another first basement, you know,
- 4:44Speaker 5: like a one year deal, but that's essentially just getting
- 4:47Speaker 5: Wilson contreres On a two year deal and compared to
- 4:51Speaker 5: his ops plus combined, comparing it to Pete Alonso their
- 4:57Speaker 5: neck and neck, and you're paying Pete Alonzo for five years.
- 5:00Speaker 5: So I think that's the part that Craig Reslo is
- 5:02Speaker 5: really looking at it, like we like this, we're able
- 5:06Speaker 5: to make the move. And so hein Bloom strikes again.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Him's like I build up this entire minor league system.
- 5:14Speaker 5: I'm just gonna take it all back from the Red
- 5:16Speaker 5: Sox with the Gray trade, with the Contreras trade. Possibly
- 5:22Speaker 5: if the Red Sox don't get Bregman, could be a
- 5:25Speaker 5: Nolan Aernado trade could be revisited. So Hime's just like,
- 5:29Speaker 5: I build all these guys, I'm pillaging this entire minor
- 5:32Speaker 5: league system.
- 5:33Speaker 1: That's good. That's a good way to look at it.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It's true. I mean Saint Louis is in a rebuild
- 5:38Speaker 1: right now. This is real.
- 5:40Speaker 2: We didn't know if it was going to be happening.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Not this offseason, but a year ago. Remember Krat's a
- 5:45Speaker 2: year ago and top five year ago. We were like,
- 5:48Speaker 2: are they gonna trade Tonny Gray? Well, no, he didn't
- 5:50Speaker 2: want to go. They're gonna trade Wilson Contreres will know
- 5:52Speaker 2: he wasn't giving them permission and he had a no
- 5:55Speaker 2: trade class. They wanted to trade Nolan Aernado and they
- 5:58Speaker 2: couldn't figure that out based on the no trade power
- 6:01Speaker 2: that he had.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Well, here we go.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Now they're actually making their moves, and I think this
- 6:06Speaker 2: is actually good news for Saint Louis. Todd father. If
- 6:09Speaker 2: they had done this last year. It's not just under
- 6:11Speaker 2: John Mazzelac. Hein Bloom was working there, so he has
- 6:15Speaker 2: some say. But now this is fully his onus, right,
- 6:18Speaker 2: this is his responsibility. Hey, I'm making these deals. Let's
- 6:22Speaker 2: see who pans out from this. We're not going to
- 6:24Speaker 2: be able to look back and go, oh, those were
- 6:25Speaker 2: still John Mzzaylac trades like. No, the veterans that they're
- 6:29Speaker 2: able to deal right now are returning guys that hopefully
- 6:31Speaker 2: will be part of the next Cardinals playoff team and
- 6:34Speaker 2: they'll go through one or two years of paying.
- 6:36Speaker 1: To get there.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you see these moves going on, like
- 6:40Speaker 4: you brought up a name like Nolan Arnatto, like okay, wow, okay,
- 6:44Speaker 4: guys are moving left and right.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Does he want to be part of rebuild? I would
- 6:47Speaker 3: say no.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I would say there's there's opportunities now for him to
- 6:51Speaker 4: be like, hey, listen, you know, I know I have
- 6:54Speaker 4: places that I don't want to go. I have this,
- 6:57Speaker 4: you know, with the clauses and everything else. But if
- 7:00Speaker 4: there's an opportunity for him to go elsewhere, I think
- 7:03Speaker 4: he's he's gonna take that opportunity and really think about
- 7:08Speaker 4: what he wants to do. You know, he's getting later
- 7:10Speaker 4: in his career, and you want a championship. And I
- 7:14Speaker 4: think that that's the biggest thing. I think that's the
- 7:16Speaker 4: next thing that will most likely go if there's an
- 7:19Speaker 4: opportunity for him. And I think if the fit is there,
- 7:23Speaker 4: even if it's not there, it might be an opportunity
- 7:25Speaker 4: where all right, you know, I'm gonna be spinning my
- 7:28Speaker 4: wheels here instead of fighting to get to a championship
- 7:31Speaker 4: or at least in the playoffs.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Something I always was impressed with he's even as a
- 7:35Speaker 5: young player, Wilson Contraras is his ability to hit to
- 7:39Speaker 5: the field, hit too.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Now.
- 7:41Speaker 5: He's never going to be like this elite level hitter.
- 7:45Speaker 5: He's never going to be a guy who wins a
- 7:48Speaker 5: batting title. But he's okay getting his hits to right
- 7:52Speaker 5: field when he needs him in situations where hey, you're
- 7:55Speaker 5: giving me a large you know, a large gap between
- 7:59Speaker 5: first and second, or he's okay, you know, trying to
- 8:03Speaker 5: take his shots. I'm very intrigued to see how many
- 8:07Speaker 5: doubles Wilson Contrere's hits off the Green Monster because he's
- 8:11Speaker 5: not a all launch angle kind of guy. He's a
- 8:15Speaker 5: very good at spraying the ball all over the park,
- 8:18Speaker 5: but he's good at doing it on different pitches. So
- 8:22Speaker 5: I'll be interested to see. Like pulling the ball is
- 8:24Speaker 5: not a people you know, kind of get on East
- 8:27Speaker 5: Op parades because he pulls the ball all the time. Well,
- 8:29Speaker 5: it's a superpower if you can pull the ball correctly,
- 8:33Speaker 5: and you can pull it correctly in Boston, now all
- 8:35Speaker 5: of a sudden, you're just clicking everything out front. You're
- 8:39Speaker 5: able to slow down on breaking balls. Pull him out front,
- 8:41Speaker 5: and I think he has the ability. He's that level
- 8:45Speaker 5: of a hitter that he can make adjustments when they're
- 8:49Speaker 5: in Fenway, when they're starting to pitch him differently, and
- 8:53Speaker 5: he just takes his hits to write. And most likely
- 8:57Speaker 5: if they I think they'll get Bregman back. He's not
- 8:59Speaker 5: going to be the focal point in this lineup, unfortunately.
- 9:04Speaker 5: If he is the focal point, I'm a little I'm
- 9:08Speaker 5: a little leery, I'm a little weary for this lineup
- 9:11Speaker 5: how it's constructed. But adding this right hand to Batt
- 9:14Speaker 5: and Wilson, Contreras and Bragman vaults them right up there
- 9:19Speaker 5: with the Jays in the American League East.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean one twenty three ops plus one hundred
- 9:25Speaker 2: league average this past season. He's entering his age thirty
- 9:29Speaker 2: four seasons, so it'll be thirty four and thirty five
- 9:31Speaker 2: for the two years. But even some of the other
- 9:34Speaker 2: indicators that the front offices love, the quality of contact
- 9:38Speaker 2: indicators and the perperal numbers there really strong bat speed
- 9:43Speaker 2: which we have nowadays Todd Father, It doesn't matter if
- 9:46Speaker 2: a player's paying attention to it or not. The front
- 9:48Speaker 2: offices are, and he had great bat speed numbers, so
- 9:51Speaker 2: some of those numbers look good and tell you okay,
- 9:54Speaker 2: he should still age nicely into his mid thirties for
- 9:57Speaker 2: the next couple seasons. I think this is huge for Boston.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Wilson Contreres definitely can piss people off off on the field.
- 10:05Speaker 2: He makes for good entertainment for us sometimes right, he
- 10:08Speaker 2: gets into it with ups, he gets into it with
- 10:09Speaker 2: other teams.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I don't care. Can he hit? Can he play first base? Cool?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Sign me up? And is he playing every day? Yes?
- 10:16Speaker 2: And so for Boston Cassis maybe gets traded. If not,
- 10:21Speaker 2: he can be part time first base and DH, you
- 10:26Speaker 2: can't wait for a guy. It's been a couple of years.
- 10:28Speaker 1: He hasn't been healthy.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And if I'm Boston in my winning windows, now sign
- 10:32Speaker 2: me up for Wilson Contreras.
- 10:35Speaker 3: You said it best. It's time to win now.
- 10:38Speaker 4: And I think that's the problem, and that's the opportunity
- 10:41Speaker 4: that they're having. They've been They got a couple good
- 10:43Speaker 4: pitchers last year, as we saw, they made the playoffs,
- 10:46Speaker 4: just couldn't get over the hump against the Yankees. This
- 10:48Speaker 4: is another piece of the puzzle for the Red Sox
- 10:50Speaker 4: to climb and get over that hump.
- 10:52Speaker 3: So yeah, I like it. Opportunity came. They found a
- 10:56Speaker 3: way to get a guy over there.
- 10:58Speaker 4: And if I'm Castias right now, I'm like, hey, man,
- 11:00Speaker 4: I gotta look myself in the mirror and I got
- 11:01Speaker 4: to step up. I know your injury. I know there's
- 11:03Speaker 4: a guy coming in here taking your spot. Not saying
- 11:06Speaker 4: you can't come back and be a good lethal hitter.
- 11:09Speaker 4: You got to come up with what you believe in
- 11:10Speaker 4: and look yourself in the mirror and find a way.
- 11:13Speaker 3: But for the Red Sox, solid, solid job.
- 11:17Speaker 5: I know I'm gonna say this and I'll probably get
- 11:20Speaker 5: roasted if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Tristan Cossas
- 11:24Speaker 5: has one more option coming off of a coming off
- 11:27Speaker 5: of an injury year, where I mean it's a significant
- 11:31Speaker 5: injury that he's recovering from. Get himself back on his feet,
- 11:34Speaker 5: get his legs back under him, and maybe adjust some
- 11:38Speaker 5: of the things his like. His patient approach is great
- 11:42Speaker 5: as long as he's only doing damage on pitches in
- 11:45Speaker 5: the zone and when you're not swinging at pitches on
- 11:48Speaker 5: the perimeter of the zone, that's a good thing. But
- 11:51Speaker 5: you can't miss the pitches that are middle middle, and
- 11:54Speaker 5: that's you know, maybe something that he can It's tough
- 11:57Speaker 5: to work on triple A because he kind of dominated
- 11:59Speaker 5: her play before, but that option. Don't don't if I'm
- 12:03Speaker 5: a Red Sox fan, don't don't anticipate what can Tristan
- 12:06Speaker 5: costs get us to me. I think that that option
- 12:09Speaker 5: if he has it, which I'm pretty sure he does.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I don't have my updated option list here, but that
- 12:16Speaker 5: is a value. Because now Yoshida goes down, they have
- 12:21Speaker 5: you know, a rolling DH he starts raking, his legs
- 12:25Speaker 5: are under him. Maybe they can bring him up and
- 12:28Speaker 5: still use him because Wilson wants to play every day
- 12:30Speaker 5: at first base.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and Bob Nightingale tweeted over the weekend. The Red
- 12:36Speaker 2: Sox are now expected to end trade talks with the
- 12:40Speaker 2: Diamondbacks for second baseman. Kit tell Marte, Okay, I mean
- 12:44Speaker 2: to me that means you're very much banking on someone
- 12:49Speaker 2: like Alex Bragman joining the fold.
- 12:52Speaker 1: You're not going to get both right.
- 12:53Speaker 2: They are going to have Trevor Story and Marcella Meyer
- 12:57Speaker 2: take up two of the infield spots, so now they
- 12:59Speaker 2: have contreras for an other and then it's Bragman or
- 13:03Speaker 2: you could pick up a second baseman and Ad Meyer
- 13:06Speaker 2: play third.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:07Speaker 2: That's where Sox fans are still like, wait, we can
- 13:10Speaker 2: we can find room for del Marte if we can't
- 13:12Speaker 2: sign Alex Bragman, or we can find room for Boba
- 13:15Speaker 2: Schett if we can't sign Alex Bragman.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So just keep that in mind.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Also, on the return package for the Cardinals, I think
- 13:24Speaker 2: some credits should go to the Red Sox organization for
- 13:26Speaker 2: developing pictures that they're turning into assets. You saw the Scrats,
- 13:30Speaker 2: So I'm going to butcher names. But Yoker Fajardo. He
- 13:36Speaker 2: is nineteen years old and he signed for four hundred
- 13:39Speaker 2: thousand dollars out of Venezuela by the White Sox in
- 13:42Speaker 2: twenty twenty four, the Red Sox traded him for camp booz.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Boozer was designated for assignment, so they basically traded him
- 13:49Speaker 2: for someone that cost him almost nothing. White Sox had
- 13:52Speaker 2: to eat the money, so they got like a free
- 13:53Speaker 2: prospect that they included this deal. Next up Blake aida
- 13:57Speaker 2: sixth round pick out of Kennesaw State in twenty twenty.
- 14:00Speaker 2: For nowadays, six round pick in the major league draft
- 14:04Speaker 2: even more than a crapshoot. Right to get a prospect
- 14:07Speaker 2: that you're either able to develop into a valuable big
- 14:09Speaker 2: leaguer or that you're able to flip into trade.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Is a massive success. So they have the success there.
- 14:14Speaker 2: And then Dobbins, like you mentioned, is actually from the
- 14:16Speaker 2: heinm bloom era twenty twenty one, he was an eighth
- 14:19Speaker 2: round selection. So the Red Sox are making really valuable
- 14:23Speaker 2: trade assets out of spots that you usually don't find
- 14:27Speaker 2: them in.
- 14:29Speaker 5: That's huge When people complain like, oh, you know, we
- 14:32Speaker 5: never get to pick at the top of the draft,
- 14:34Speaker 5: like the Dodgers never get to pick it the top
- 14:37Speaker 5: of the draft. Your minor league system creates so much value.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Your big league team is boosted by your minor league system.
- 14:47Speaker 5: I remember when I worked for the Red Sox, they
- 14:49Speaker 5: gave us a bonus. When the Red Sox made made it,
- 14:52Speaker 5: I forget where they ended up making it too. They
- 14:55Speaker 5: won the wildcard game against the Yankees. It was twenty one,
- 14:58Speaker 5: but they truly believed in that time that anybody that
- 15:02Speaker 5: was working in the minor league system was helping the
- 15:06Speaker 5: big league team. I had nothing to do with the
- 15:08Speaker 5: big league team. I never went to games. I never
- 15:11Speaker 5: went to anything that year. But the way the Heim Bloom,
- 15:15Speaker 5: the way that BA Brian Abraham was running the minor
- 15:18Speaker 5: league system was a just an extension of the big
- 15:23Speaker 5: leagues the minor leagues or extension of the big leagues.
- 15:26Speaker 5: People were like, well, you know you made Marcella Meyer,
- 15:28Speaker 5: you made Anthony, you know all those guys. No, you
- 15:33Speaker 5: helped those guys get better, to reach the potential to
- 15:36Speaker 5: help the big league team. And if they're not quite there,
- 15:38Speaker 5: you turn them into a Wilson Contraras, you turn him
- 15:41Speaker 5: into a Sonny Gray. And that's how good teams that
- 15:45Speaker 5: want to win create value in the minor leagues. And
- 15:48Speaker 5: you see some teams that don't do it money or
- 15:50Speaker 5: no money.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you've the Cardinals on the other end of this,
- 15:57Speaker 2: filling their first base spot pretty easily. Barlaston gets full
- 16:01Speaker 2: time over at first base. You get to give him
- 16:03Speaker 2: a full season of run and see what it looks like.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And just to finish on the Cardinals too, Todd Father,
- 16:10Speaker 2: I think they might have trouble trading Nolan Aronado without
- 16:13Speaker 2: eating up a good chunk of the money.
- 16:16Speaker 1: First, you look.
- 16:17Speaker 2: At what he's valued at, because that's what teams will do.
- 16:20Speaker 2: What does he get on the free agent market right now?
- 16:23Speaker 1: Maybe a year?
- 16:24Speaker 2: And does he get the league minimum crats or is
- 16:28Speaker 2: it like two million bucks?
- 16:30Speaker 1: Ops?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's not more than it's not more than
- 16:33Speaker 2: five based off you get number decline in projections. Yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 2: on a big league deal, big league deal, what's the
- 16:42Speaker 2: number two?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Two million bucks? Now?
- 16:45Speaker 5: I think I think he'll I think he would. I
- 16:47Speaker 5: don't think he'd signed for less than four million. I
- 16:49Speaker 5: could be completely wrong based on how much he's made,
- 16:52Speaker 5: but you know he's in. He's in that realm because
- 16:55Speaker 5: his defense has declined some. His defense last year still
- 16:59Speaker 5: had values. Offense declined. To me, he's in either the
- 17:03Speaker 5: four to five million dollars big league deal range, or
- 17:07Speaker 5: like Todd experience at the end of his career, the
- 17:10Speaker 5: old non roster invite.
- 17:11Speaker 3: T Yeah, but.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Anthony Rizzo felt that way and then he just didn't sign.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Ronatto doesn't have to deal with that because he's under
- 17:22Speaker 2: a contract. My point is it's difficult to trade someone
- 17:25Speaker 2: like that when the industry looks at you that way.
- 17:28Speaker 2: So it could just be a buyout, or it could
- 17:31Speaker 2: be a deal where a team just picks up a
- 17:36Speaker 2: couple million bucks and they pay off the rest. Those
- 17:39Speaker 2: deals are pretty unconventional, right. Usually at that point, if
- 17:42Speaker 2: it's that little money that's being picked up on a
- 17:46Speaker 2: large deal remaining, they just cut the player.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So I don't know. We'll see what happens.
- 17:51Speaker 2: They're going to try to trade him, but I don't
- 17:53Speaker 2: know how much success they're going to have trading him
- 17:56Speaker 2: to a first division team and a spot that he
- 17:59Speaker 2: wants to go to.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You just throwing that out there, So, yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 5: You gotta get going. One more on the Red Sox.
- 18:08Speaker 5: You guys remember a guy named Christian Campbell. He started
- 18:12Speaker 5: the season last year in the big leagues with the
- 18:14Speaker 5: Red Sox. Signed for sixty million dollars. Guys. This is
- 18:16Speaker 5: why it's okay if somebody takes a sixty million dollars
- 18:20Speaker 5: big league deal when they first get called up. A
- 18:22Speaker 5: lot of a lot of people want to roast players
- 18:25Speaker 5: for doing that. You're leaving money on the table. Some
- 18:28Speaker 5: guys need a little bit more time to round out
- 18:31Speaker 5: and become the players that they're gonna be. It's okay
- 18:34Speaker 5: if you take sixty million dollars to buy up all
- 18:37Speaker 5: your arbitration years in one or two of your free
- 18:39Speaker 5: agent years, like they're already looking in the next year.
- 18:43Speaker 5: It hasn't even been a full calendar year yet since
- 18:45Speaker 5: he got that contract and they're looking for somebody to
- 18:48Speaker 5: play his position. That's gonna be locked up for more
- 18:51Speaker 5: than one year. Doesn't mean his career is over. I'm
- 18:54Speaker 5: just saying it's okay to take your money. When they
- 18:57Speaker 5: give you your money, Todd.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Your money, it's yours.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he was kind of a late bloomer, as it
- 19:04Speaker 2: is Christian Campbell and then he was a fourth round
- 19:06Speaker 2: pick out of Georgia. Tech developed quickly, but you can
- 19:09Speaker 2: develop really quickly and then hit a roadblock and.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Takes some time.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Right, it was it was all moving so fast until
- 19:17Speaker 2: it wasn't for him, and Kratz is right. I mean,
- 19:19Speaker 2: he might turn into a nice player, but even if
- 19:21Speaker 2: he doesn't, this is why you can't criticize a guy
- 19:25Speaker 2: for taking the bag, even if it's a position player. Yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 2: he is set for life at eight years, sixty million dollars,
- 19:32Speaker 2: and he might still be a very valuable player for
- 19:34Speaker 2: the Red Sox. But they're not going to sit around
- 19:37Speaker 2: and wait for it to happen either. It'll be a
- 19:39Speaker 2: nice addition, bonus, whatever you want to call it, if
- 19:42Speaker 2: he can really emerge this coming season and be a
- 19:45Speaker 2: factor for a team. Injuries happen all the time. I'm
- 19:47Speaker 2: sure if he's good, they'll figure it out. Red Sox
- 19:49Speaker 2: are trying to build depth. Munataka Mari Kami was saying
- 19:54Speaker 2: that for about a month and change while he was
- 19:58Speaker 2: up for grabs. I pay a little posting fee. Well,
- 20:01Speaker 2: it's a small posting fee for the Chicago White Sox
- 20:05Speaker 2: two years, thirty four million dollars. Murakami's going to be
- 20:08Speaker 2: their first basement. He's a home run champ over in Japan.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Todd Father some publications had him making well over one
- 20:14Speaker 2: hundred million dollars. Tim Britton does the contract projections for
- 20:18Speaker 2: the athletic and he's really good at it. I mean,
- 20:20Speaker 2: there are some that he has gotten on the mark
- 20:23Speaker 2: this year, the exact mark.
- 20:25Speaker 1: This one.
- 20:26Speaker 2: He had him pegged at one hundred fifty eight million
- 20:30Speaker 2: dollars over eight years.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Murakami ends up with two over thirty four.
- 20:34Speaker 2: It sounded like he had longer term offers but for
- 20:38Speaker 2: much less average annual value. And he's twenty five years old,
- 20:42Speaker 2: so he's going cool two years seventeen a year. Let
- 20:45Speaker 2: me go prove it and then I can hit the
- 20:47Speaker 2: free agent market still at a very young twenty seven
- 20:50Speaker 2: years old. But initially it was looked at at oh
- 20:53Speaker 2: eight one point fifty eight something like that because he's
- 20:55Speaker 2: so damn young. The problem was in the free agent market.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Team said too much swing and miss. We have questions
- 21:02Speaker 2: about your defense.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I it's so funny when he saw the White
- 21:07Speaker 4: Sox getting like what the heck of a White Sox
- 21:09Speaker 4: doing right now? But yeah, I mean listen, I like
- 21:12Speaker 4: that he wants to go and prove himself. I like
- 21:13Speaker 4: that he's only doing a two year deal. It's a
- 21:17Speaker 4: substantial amount of money. But again, yet way off on
- 21:21Speaker 4: what a lot of people thought he was gonna make Yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 4: you know what, go ahead, prove yourself. Man, go out there.
- 21:27Speaker 4: He looks happy, he's excited. The guy's got some absolute
- 21:30Speaker 4: tremendous pop uh crats. He's talked about it before. This
- 21:34Speaker 4: guy can hit one to the moon and back. People
- 21:37Speaker 4: worry about the swinging mess. I mean, everybody's worried about
- 21:40Speaker 4: the swing and miss. Everybody swings and missus, you know
- 21:42Speaker 4: at the end of the day. So let's see how
- 21:44Speaker 4: his defense is. Let's see if he comes to America
- 21:46Speaker 4: here and just absolutely hitting nukes like he always does.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I'm excited to see this guy play. Good pickup by
- 21:52Speaker 4: the White Sox.
- 21:54Speaker 5: I mean, everybody's worried about swinging miss and yet nobody's
- 21:57Speaker 5: doing anything about it like this is this is a
- 22:00Speaker 5: prime I'm not saying he should have gotten one hundred
- 22:03Speaker 5: plus million dollars, but this is a prime case of
- 22:06Speaker 5: the industry being okay with demeaning the things that the
- 22:14Speaker 5: industry's be okay with in general. They're okay with guys
- 22:18Speaker 5: coming up that strike out a ton. They're not sitting
- 22:20Speaker 5: there going man. They put together the Rangers, they put
- 22:24Speaker 5: together good at bats. No they struck out. They swung
- 22:26Speaker 5: a miss way too much. That's why they weren't good,
- 22:28Speaker 5: and so it was a nice narrative for them to
- 22:31Speaker 5: kind of squash a little bit of this guy's value.
- 22:34Speaker 5: So I love that he only got a two year deal.
- 22:35Speaker 5: I love that the two year deal is a nice
- 22:40Speaker 5: yearly amount because I went back and I looked at
- 22:43Speaker 5: Seya Suzuki's contract, and I've played against both of these guys,
- 22:48Speaker 5: and I was so impressed with Saya. Say is that
- 22:51Speaker 5: bats over in Japan when we played against them were
- 22:54Speaker 5: very impressive. He got fifteen a year. He got fifteen
- 22:59Speaker 5: a year that gave him. I'm sorry, no, I did
- 23:02Speaker 5: my math wrong. He got seventeen a year, and this
- 23:06Speaker 5: is exactly what Morikami Murakami gets. So I love the
- 23:12Speaker 5: annual value here. And until somebody comes over directly from
- 23:17Speaker 5: Japan as a hitter and is an immediate success, I
- 23:21Speaker 5: have a hard time seeing that one hundred million dollar
- 23:24Speaker 5: threshold getting broken right out of the gate. Seya Suzuki
- 23:29Speaker 5: was very, very disciplined coming over. He was a walk
- 23:33Speaker 5: one walk to one strikeout kind of guy. He had power,
- 23:37Speaker 5: not the elite power that you've seen and it took
- 23:41Speaker 5: Saya a little bit to make that adjustment. I thought
- 23:44Speaker 5: he should have been an All Star last year. I
- 23:46Speaker 5: know he really created after the All Star break, but
- 23:49Speaker 5: he's developed into a very, very good big league hitter
- 23:53Speaker 5: and it's taken a little bit of time. So maybe
- 23:55Speaker 5: Morikami sees that and says, I have more power than
- 23:58Speaker 5: this guy. And let's just say his strikeout rates stays
- 24:02Speaker 5: the same. The biggest thing is going to be for
- 24:05Speaker 5: the White Sox is how does he fit into this
- 24:09Speaker 5: lineup to give them production and give them slug that
- 24:13Speaker 5: they have that they've been missing, because if he's just
- 24:16Speaker 5: he actually had better numbers against lefties, because if he
- 24:18Speaker 5: can't hit a fastball, maybe a leftiest slower fastball is
- 24:21Speaker 5: easier for him. I'm not sure, but it will definitely
- 24:24Speaker 5: be interesting. But it'll be a nice environment for him
- 24:27Speaker 5: to not feel the pressure of the entire world on
- 24:31Speaker 5: his shoulders to try to do well. But he's also
- 24:33Speaker 5: still in a big city. Don't forget Chicago, the White Sox.
- 24:37Speaker 5: It's still a big city.
- 24:40Speaker 2: And he's been just on a tear out in Japan
- 24:43Speaker 2: up until this past season.
- 24:44Speaker 1: I mean, the numbers were still good.
- 24:46Speaker 2: While he was playing, but he actually missed a good
- 24:48Speaker 2: chunk of the year hurt.
- 24:50Speaker 1: He's young. It's not something chronic.
- 24:52Speaker 2: But I mean, everything we're talking about is just another
- 24:57Speaker 2: thing that a team gets concerned about and that could
- 24:59Speaker 2: be used in contract negotiations. He played fifty six games
- 25:02Speaker 2: this past season elbow surgery, oblique injury, set back, miss.
- 25:08Speaker 1: A lot of time.
- 25:09Speaker 5: It's also had. He also had a thousand ops. He
- 25:13Speaker 5: also had a better.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Fifty games than a COVID amount of season. Hey, I'm
- 25:18Speaker 2: not he's been.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Great for years before that, but.
- 25:20Speaker 5: All he could play. Yeah, hit better against lefties and
- 25:23Speaker 5: right He's like, there's so many times that I can like,
- 25:25Speaker 5: you can say, oh, you know, he doesn't hit the
- 25:28Speaker 5: he doesn't hit ninety three plus well enough to be
- 25:32Speaker 5: to do well in the big leagues. Okay, well, then
- 25:34Speaker 5: you don't want him, Like you can create so many
- 25:36Speaker 5: narratives to say, why you don't want to sign Todd Frazier,
- 25:40Speaker 5: Why you don't want to sign Munataka much munich Mi're comedy,
- 25:47Speaker 5: But that's like, to me, then you just don't want them.
- 25:50Speaker 5: So good for the White Sox, a team that nobody's
- 25:53Speaker 5: really linked to in the sense of like, oh, you know,
- 25:56Speaker 5: they're gonna get Frambervodez, they're gonna get Good for them
- 25:59Speaker 5: for saying I get what his shortcomings are. Everybody's got shortcomings.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Everybody has. Trey Turner won the batting title, they're like, oh,
- 26:06Speaker 5: you didn't hit for enough power. You know, there's so
- 26:09Speaker 5: many there's so many things that you can point to
- 26:12Speaker 5: to squash salaries. Good for the White Sox for getting
- 26:16Speaker 5: this one done.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Also, he's twenty five, his baby.
- 26:20Speaker 2: How much development happens now, that's part of it. The
- 26:25Speaker 2: point that I like, right, I'm just providing both sides
- 26:28Speaker 2: of context here, Kratz. I'm not necessarily going against you.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I honestly have a hard time figuring out what he's
- 26:33Speaker 2: going to look like. I know he's gonna hit dingers,
- 26:35Speaker 2: and he's gonna hit dingers on some mistake pitches. We'll
- 26:38Speaker 2: see how the league figures out holes and how he adjusts,
- 26:43Speaker 2: just like most young hitters have to do. But Ken
- 26:46Speaker 2: Rosenthal pointed out in an article maybe two weeks ago
- 26:50Speaker 2: that the twenty five percent strikeout rate is actually lower
- 26:53Speaker 2: than show Heyo Tani's twenty seven percent strikeout mark, but
- 26:58Speaker 2: he was younger Otani. It was ages eight into twenty
- 27:00Speaker 2: two seasons and NPB, but and Sey Asuzuki was at
- 27:05Speaker 2: sixteen percent in MPB before he signed with the Cups.
- 27:08Speaker 2: The point is, it's not like this guy is such an.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Outlier with strikeouts. Right.
- 27:14Speaker 2: It's nice to see a guy like Akamoto who's gonna
- 27:17Speaker 2: come over here and sign Todd Father with really nice
- 27:20Speaker 2: contact numbers. But it's not like this guy can't overcome
- 27:24Speaker 2: swing and miss, even if it's a part of his game.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's not like he's not going to be a successful player.
- 27:28Speaker 2: He might be a high strikeout guy, he might be
- 27:31Speaker 2: a twenty five percent plus thirty percent.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Even strikeout guy in the big leagues.
- 27:35Speaker 2: But if it's fifty Dingers, I think many teams would
- 27:40Speaker 2: take that. It's just I think the problem is it's
- 27:42Speaker 2: really hard to gauge. Like the upside is Kyle Schwarber
- 27:46Speaker 2: and the downside is Joey Kingman, Joey Gallo, stuff like that.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's difficult to see until we see him get
- 27:58Speaker 4: on the field and get to custom to USA Baseball man,
- 28:03Speaker 4: it's all.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, I like it.
- 28:05Speaker 2: For the White Sox, Kratz, we were picking up the
- 28:09Speaker 2: White Sox, and I mean we still will because they're
- 28:11Speaker 2: operating with a pretty small budget, but this is seventeen
- 28:14Speaker 2: million bucks a year, and the White Sox second half
- 28:17Speaker 2: offense was good, so that's good. We'll see if they
- 28:19Speaker 2: can carry that is Coulson Montgomery gonna bring. Coulson Montgomery
- 28:23Speaker 2: has some swing and missing his game, but he might
- 28:25Speaker 2: hit thirty five forty homers.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Two He showed his power that really didn't show up
- 28:31Speaker 5: a ton in the minor leagues, definitely translated to the
- 28:33Speaker 5: big league. So what they're doing up there is good.
- 28:36Speaker 5: And for me, Murkami, if he's able to not get
- 28:43Speaker 5: away from his chase rate, because he doesn't chase very much,
- 28:47Speaker 5: it's his in zone contact. It's balls that are in
- 28:52Speaker 5: the strike zone making contact with it make it sounds,
- 28:56Speaker 5: so it sounds very elementary and remedial to hey, well, yeah,
- 29:00Speaker 5: you just got to hit the balls. He has to
- 29:03Speaker 5: be ready for the pitch that's middle, middle, and if
- 29:06Speaker 5: that means he does chase a little bit more, to me,
- 29:09Speaker 5: that's how his power is going to play in the
- 29:11Speaker 5: big leagues. Because Todd will let you know if some
- 29:15Speaker 5: dude doesn't hit for much power or doesn't you know,
- 29:19Speaker 5: doesn't drive the ball on all pitches. You're just going
- 29:23Speaker 5: to keep pounding that pitch to the guy. You're gonna
- 29:25Speaker 5: nibble the zone with everything else, and then you're just
- 29:28Speaker 5: going to keep attacking him the other way. And to me,
- 29:30Speaker 5: he's got to catch a few balls out front. The
- 29:32Speaker 5: party's out front, get the ball in the middle of
- 29:35Speaker 5: the zone and let that power go to work.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Boom.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they were bottom five and runs the White Sox.
- 29:46Speaker 2: They were bottom five and slugging percentage todd five that
- 29:49Speaker 2: you played there, that's not a pitcher's park, So it's time.
- 29:53Speaker 2: It's time to get the offense cranking. Do you know
- 29:55Speaker 2: who their home run leader was this past season? I
- 29:57Speaker 2: don't know if you guys mentioned in the pregame meeting,
- 29:59Speaker 2: but it's, by are the toughest trivia question if you're
- 30:01Speaker 2: asking for each team's home run leader for the year,
- 30:04Speaker 2: This one, to me is the toughest answer out of
- 30:06Speaker 2: the thirty teams.
- 30:08Speaker 5: It wasn't Coulson. Did he get to Coulson Getton? No, not,
- 30:11Speaker 5: no time.
- 30:14Speaker 2: You'll never I mean, it's it's a guy where you're
- 30:18Speaker 2: gonna be like, I completely forgot about him as even
- 30:21Speaker 2: a factor that did anything, And obviously you're not watching
- 30:25Speaker 2: a lot of White Sox games compared to everything else.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Colson Montgomery, by the way, finished with twenty one. He
- 30:29Speaker 2: was one shy of the twenty two home runs hit
- 30:31Speaker 2: by Lane Michael Taylor Lane in Sosa.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Twenty two home runs. Yeah, that wasn't happening.
- 30:39Speaker 2: But now you've got Colson Montgomery, Kyle Teel, Edgar Carrow,
- 30:42Speaker 2: Miguel Vargas more Kami's in there, chase my draft Braidon
- 30:46Speaker 2: Montgomery from the Crochet White Sox Red Sox trade last
- 30:50Speaker 2: year coming soon. You're starting to build a little bit
- 30:52Speaker 2: of a core that has a chance to keep you
- 30:54Speaker 2: in some games. At corner time, let's talk about the
- 30:58Speaker 2: state of the Yankees this offseason. In a team that
- 31:01Speaker 2: scored a ton of runs, made the playoffs, has a
- 31:03Speaker 2: lot of promising pitching coming up this season, but fans
- 31:06Speaker 2: expect more. They want action, and they've been pretty quiet
- 31:09Speaker 2: so far on that front. Fans just saw Yankees sign
- 31:13Speaker 2: and then they see Paul Blackburn, and it's nothing against
- 31:16Speaker 2: Paul Todd father, but it's not the big fish that
- 31:20Speaker 2: fans are looking for. One year deal, two million bucks,
- 31:23Speaker 2: right they've signed to med Rosario Ryan Yarborough. Now here's
- 31:26Speaker 2: Blackburn for some pitching depth, who's dealt with a fair
- 31:29Speaker 2: share of injuries, but maybe could be either a swingman
- 31:32Speaker 2: or a back end depth guy.
- 31:34Speaker 1: So there's that.
- 31:36Speaker 2: But I do want to go a bigger picture here.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Where do you think fans are at right now with
- 31:41Speaker 2: this team and what they're expecting. We just spoke to
- 31:43Speaker 2: Robert Murray, who still linked Cody Bellinger to the team,
- 31:46Speaker 2: and they're probably battling over what that price will look like.
- 31:50Speaker 2: But you know how it is, even if the team
- 31:52Speaker 2: had no holes, they've got to make a splash. It's
- 31:55Speaker 2: just the way that the fan base demands things. And
- 31:57Speaker 2: in fairness to the fan base, they have one championship
- 32:00Speaker 2: since two thousand and nine, and it was not a
- 32:02Speaker 2: perfect run.
- 32:04Speaker 1: In the playoffs. Just now, they got smacked around by
- 32:06Speaker 1: the Blue Jays.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's that what have you done for me lately?
- 32:10Speaker 4: Mentality, which we're you know, born and raised over here
- 32:14Speaker 4: to you know, pretty much abide by. I think the
- 32:16Speaker 4: fans are it's anticipation. I think the word I was used.
- 32:19Speaker 4: They're you know, a little on edge, a little excitement,
- 32:23Speaker 4: a little hey, what what's Cashman going to do? Yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 4: this is it's it's it's a it's a pick up.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Paul Blackburn is not the same guy used to be,
- 32:31Speaker 4: but finding a way to get a guy in there
- 32:34Speaker 4: to you know, help out with the team. Yeah, I
- 32:39Speaker 4: think it's that. Wait and see. I think there's plenty
- 32:41Speaker 4: of time still left. H you got all of January
- 32:44Speaker 4: coming up, and I think, honestly, they are going to.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Make a move to get a big name.
- 32:49Speaker 4: It's just nobody's really taken down those bigger names besides
- 32:54Speaker 4: like a Pete Alonzo like hitting hitting wise, you know,
- 32:57Speaker 4: it's just holidays come around, everything gets slow and then
- 33:00Speaker 4: to pick back up after the new year. In my opinion,
- 33:02Speaker 4: But yes, I think they have some opportunities to get
- 33:05Speaker 4: some guys, and I think they will. They're gonna put
- 33:07Speaker 4: in a good effort to get some you know, an
- 33:09Speaker 4: outfielder of course, and go from there because they need
- 33:12Speaker 4: a couple of pictures. You know, there's two guys Garrett
- 33:17Speaker 4: Cole Carlos Ordan that aren't gonna be ready in the
- 33:19Speaker 4: beginning of the year.
- 33:19Speaker 3: So we'll see how that transpires.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Hitting that futures market hard bet MGM futures. Aaron Judge
- 33:25Speaker 2: home run total minus one oh five gets you fifty
- 33:29Speaker 2: one homers or more. If you think he's going under
- 33:32Speaker 2: fifty one homers, it'll cost you a buck.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Twenty to win a hundo. Todd Father, where are you
- 33:38Speaker 1: going over? Over and over and over.
- 33:43Speaker 4: I think he's going to be in the fifties for
- 33:45Speaker 4: a long time. Still, I think he's gonna be fifty
- 33:49Speaker 4: four fifty five range.
- 33:50Speaker 3: So I will take that over all day, every day.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Same with you, Kratz.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Man.
- 33:57Speaker 4: You see he got hurt and you still got over
- 33:59Speaker 4: fifty do the guy's an animal, though.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I'm not touching it. I'm not touching it just because
- 34:05Speaker 5: I saw other home run I know we're not doing
- 34:08Speaker 5: other home run people right now. But and the guy
- 34:11Speaker 5: we just had on today scared Peta Petez at thirty
- 34:15Speaker 5: seven and a half, and I love that number better
- 34:17Speaker 5: if I'm only getting if I'm only getting minus one ten,
- 34:22Speaker 5: I'm taking the over with Pete. I'm not taking it
- 34:25Speaker 5: with Judge just because right now, I don't think that
- 34:27Speaker 5: number is going to change right now. Who's protecting him?
- 34:32Speaker 5: And he has done a great job of being able
- 34:34Speaker 5: to become a complete hitter. I'm afraid if they don't
- 34:38Speaker 5: have somebody protecting him, that he's not able to get
- 34:41Speaker 5: to that fifty mark. It's such a great number. It's
- 34:44Speaker 5: such a great number. I think he's a fifty guy.
- 34:46Speaker 5: But can I say I'm taking the over on that. No,
- 34:49Speaker 5: Pete's going into a lineup right now that there is
- 34:52Speaker 5: some protection, or he's protecting other people, whichever way you
- 34:55Speaker 5: want to look at it. And I think his number
- 34:58Speaker 5: is low enough that I'm taking that.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Wow, that's a low number in my mind.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I mean, Pete's very durable, and I'm guessing that they
- 35:06Speaker 2: also might still be looking at the ballpark, I guess.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I mean, it's not Mount Waltimore anymore, it's not what
- 35:15Speaker 2: it used to be. But it's kind of in between
- 35:16Speaker 2: that he's going to crush there also, I mean, Todd Father,
- 35:18Speaker 2: you know this. It's tough to hit dingers in Queens.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Not as tough as it used to be, right, but
- 35:24Speaker 2: it's still tough to hit dingers in that park compared
- 35:28Speaker 2: to many others. I think that's still a at least
- 35:31Speaker 2: top ten pitchers park, if not better. My guess would
- 35:34Speaker 2: be it's like in the seven or eight range. I'd
- 35:36Speaker 2: have to look and I don't go completely off stackast
- 35:38Speaker 2: factors either, but it use it as a tool. I
- 35:40Speaker 2: would say it's probably in the top ten range right
- 35:42Speaker 2: for pictures.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so I don't know.
- 35:47Speaker 2: I mean Baltimore was like that a few years ago
- 35:50Speaker 2: and then they moved the walls again.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I just think, man, new team.
- 35:53Speaker 2: You know what I always think about, actually, Todd Father
- 35:56Speaker 2: the home run projections for Juan Soto when he was
- 36:00Speaker 2: entering that free agent year with the Yankees, and the
- 36:03Speaker 2: number was so freaking low. It was frustratingly low, and
- 36:09Speaker 2: you're getting all these wild explanations about how his pop's
- 36:12Speaker 2: gonna play in the.
- 36:15Speaker 3: It was trash.
- 36:16Speaker 1: He destroyed the number.
- 36:17Speaker 5: I think it was twenty nine and a half. I'm
- 36:20Speaker 5: positive twenty nine and a half. And they were like
- 36:23Speaker 5: and it was because they said, oh, well, he hits
- 36:25Speaker 5: a lot of balls to left center and that's the
- 36:29Speaker 5: biggest part of Yankee Stadium.
- 36:30Speaker 3: And I was like, yeah, it's just.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Like we talked about with Like I talked about Wilson
- 36:35Speaker 5: Contreras earlier. There's some guys who are like, I'll hit
- 36:41Speaker 5: it over there, or I'll hit it there. There's some
- 36:44Speaker 5: guys that can do that, and Juan Soto was definitely
- 36:47Speaker 5: one of those. And I think Pete is the only
- 36:50Speaker 5: part that he can't hit it out of is Yosemite.
- 36:52Speaker 5: So I don't you know, wall back, wall forward, whatever.
- 36:56Speaker 5: I think people will be surprised in Camden Yards, and
- 37:00Speaker 5: Pete might even be surprised once he gets there. How
- 37:02Speaker 5: many balls he's gonna be able to flick over right
- 37:04Speaker 5: field because right field can give you a lot. And
- 37:08Speaker 5: when Pete's not going well, he tries to go to
- 37:11Speaker 5: the opposite field, he tries to take the ball the
- 37:13Speaker 5: other way, and then when he's hot, he's taking it everywhere.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I'm with you, Hey, there's no baseball right now. We
- 37:22Speaker 1: miss it.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Although there's a lot of action going on, there is
- 37:25Speaker 2: pro football action. Bet MGM players, you can get an
- 37:28Speaker 2: early holiday treat. It's a Pro Football same game parlay
- 37:31Speaker 2: boost token, and you can use that token by stacking
- 37:35Speaker 2: up a same game parlay wager made from bets on
- 37:38Speaker 2: any pro football game, dropping into your bet slip and
- 37:40Speaker 2: give that token a merry little activation. Gambling problem or
- 37:45Speaker 2: concern call one eight hundred gambler. All right, let's slaps.
- 38:00Speaker 1: What do you have.
- 38:03Speaker 5: Might be a little just a little like just reminder
- 38:05Speaker 5: that the off season's going. Like teams are picking guys up,
- 38:09Speaker 5: but the Yankees. I think the Yankees do it backwards
- 38:11Speaker 5: from other teams. They get the little pieces to fill
- 38:14Speaker 5: in and then they go get the star. So I
- 38:16Speaker 5: think they're still going to be there. But got to
- 38:18Speaker 5: make sure everyone over in Yankee Land is not going
- 38:21Speaker 5: to Christmas too early.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Hey, Actually that leads me to my last point here
- 38:26Speaker 2: during Slap We have our last live show of the
- 38:29Speaker 2: year coming up tomorrow, which is Tuesday, and then we
- 38:32Speaker 2: have a lot prepared for you over the days of
- 38:34Speaker 2: podcast and YouTube clips that you'll enjoy. Give a much
- 38:38Speaker 2: needed rest to everybody that works every day all year round.
- 38:41Speaker 2: But we will have Ken Rosenthal on our last show
- 38:44Speaker 2: of twenty twenty five. Kevin Pilar is hosting with myself
- 38:48Speaker 2: and with Kratz. One more I'll give you for now.
- 38:51Speaker 2: On the guest list for tomorrow is a former Yankee
- 38:53Speaker 2: who can smash left handed pitching and he's going to
- 38:56Speaker 2: be back in the big leagues this coming season. The
- 38:58Speaker 2: Chicago Cubs signed Eyler Austin, and we didn't really go
- 39:01Speaker 2: over the signing at the time, So instead we're just
- 39:04Speaker 2: bringing the player on to go over his return from
- 39:07Speaker 2: Japan and how he start out there.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Why are you're throwing your hands up?
- 39:11Speaker 5: I've texted him so many times and he's gonna come on.
- 39:14Speaker 5: And I didn't even know this TJA all the way.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Oh crap, I messed up. Now he's not coming on
- 39:21Speaker 2: right now. Now he can't make it. Oops?
- 39:25Speaker 5: Is Joe Kelly coming on? Instead?
- 39:30Speaker 2: We'll bring on the other side of the battle. But
- 39:32Speaker 2: we'll try and get Tyler in early January. Hey, it's
- 39:34Speaker 2: coming in hot. As I talk sometimes I make stuff up,
- 39:37Speaker 2: but tomorrow I try not to.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Okay, we'll see you tomorrow.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Do you
