- 3:47folks. That means there's probably a hell of a lot of people in Dallas
- 3:52right now listening to this show. And if you are, I say,
- 3:55what is up? People? Hopefully you've seen the presentation and you dug it,
- 4:00or you're going to see it today and you're going to dig it.
- 4:03That's right. I know some people that are going to be down there.
- 4:09Mister Joe BURRELLI, my co host for the Martin presentation at Lancer, is
- 4:14going to be there. Doug Campbell is going to be there, host of
- 4:17The Dallas Action and my co host for Quick Hits, a JFK news and
- 4:23notes podcast that we do together. And Chuck o'chelly's going to be there.
- 4:30I do believe Carmeines Southistano is going to be there. I do believe my
- 4:36buddy Alex Harris is going to be there. I do believe my friend mister
- 4:41Kenneth Zedeker is going to be there. I know that Robert Groden will be
- 4:45there. All kinds of people. You're going to have fun. Like I
- 4:50said, the conference has sold out. You might find you might find some
- 4:57scaley wag on the corner trying to scalp tickets. Get one if you can.
- 5:02That's that's all I'll tell you. If even if you can't get into
- 5:05Lancer, you still have fun in Dallas perusing the sights and the scenes that
- 5:13the beautiful city of Dallas Presents for you. I still remember fondly four years
- 5:18ago, zipping around Dallas on a scooter at my main mode of transportation.
- 5:25I stayed in a airbnb downtown and I must have rode that damn scooter to
- 5:30Daily Plaza and the hotel. The lancer was at my god, probably ten
- 5:36times to and fro. A good time had by all, Big bad Bob
- 5:43on a scooter. Yeah, yes, I know, But enough about me.
- 5:49Let's talk about somebody who is intrigued me for a while. He's a
- 5:57very endearing fellow by the name of Darryl Dego Gardner. Now, for those
- 6:04of you not familiar, you have not been listening to the show, and
- 6:10I will scold you later, But all is it right now if you haven't,
- 6:16and go back and listen to Quick Hits number fourteen, Okay, and
- 6:23listen to the Mark Lane interview of Daryl Gardner. Therego, it is the
- 6:30craziest interview that I've ever seen in my life, ever read in my life.
- 6:36And also go back to Quick Hits forty nine, the most recent one
- 6:43that just came out, and I had a little bit in there about Dego.
- 6:47Somebody found a manuscript in a desk in New Orleans at an antique shop,
- 6:55and it was basically, well, it's called how to be a Bounty
- 7:01Hunter. Darryld Dego Gardner is told to somebody and it basically outlined he's involvement
- 7:15in the Kennedy assassination, which is interesting. But Uh, most folks right,
- 7:24No, Darryl Dego Gardner, Uh for having been accused of shooting Warren
- 7:32Reynolds in the head. Uh. Warren Reynolds worked at the Johnny Reynolds car
- 7:42dealership, I guess you want to call it, uh, around the corner
- 7:48from where Tippet was shot, and I believe it was sometime in January after
- 7:55the assassination. Uh. He was turning out the life in the dealership,
- 8:01which I guess was in the basement, and he went down there and he
- 8:05went to turn off the lights and he noticed that the bulb was broken down
- 8:09there and there was no light, and somebody came out of the shadows and
- 8:15shot him in the head with the twenty two and knocked his glasses off his
- 8:18face, and whoever that was scurried away, and mister Reynolds was able to
- 8:26get back up the steps and basically called for help and kind of collapsed on
- 8:35a car hood. But he was a little shook up, but no permanent
- 8:45damage. Apparently the bullet glanced off of his skull instead of entering it,
- 8:50which is a good thing for him. But the main suspect in the shooting
- 8:58was a man by the with Darryl Dego Warner. And you know, Deego
- 9:07was a bad seed if you will, criminal elements mid twenties about the time
- 9:16twenty four to twenty five, ran with some rough, rough dudes, you
- 9:22know, did a bunch of drinking and houring and uh, you know,
- 9:26just general you know, nineteen sixties bad guy stuff right known to the police
- 9:35as you know, a bad seed. Well, apparently he ran his mouth
- 9:43to some of the wrong people and the cops picked him up and arrested him
- 9:50for shooting Warren Reynolds. Well, they had to let him go because he
- 9:56passed a lot of detective test He had eye witnesses to where he was that
- 10:05night, and his girlfriend I tested that. You know, she also was
- 10:13with him later that evening and she passed a lot of detective tests as well.
- 10:18Despite haanging herself in jail a couple of weeks later over another guy and
- 10:30you know this woman like her her name was Nancy McDonald or Nancy Mooney McDonald,
- 10:35something like that. Apparently she had been a stripper at the Carousel Club
- 10:43before that. So we have these intersecting and interweaving lines of you know,
- 10:50a lot of these characters interacting with each other, knowing each other and so
- 10:56forth. So you know, there's not a lot on Daego out there.
- 11:03I do know that Dego died and I believe it was seventy one or seventy
- 11:07two when drug overdose. And like I said, we have the Mark Lane
- 11:16interview. We have this mysterious manuscript that was found in a desk in New
- 11:22Orleans. Because Dago had ties back to New Orleans folks, not just Dallas,
- 11:30as did the Harvey Oswalts. In fact, Garner, okay was the
- 11:41name missus Jesse James Garner and Jesse James Garner. We're the couple that rented
- 11:52part of their house to the Oswalts on Magazine Street in New Orleans the time
- 12:00when he was handing out these flyers, and this was right where they were
- 12:05living, right before Marino left with Ruth to go back to Dallas, and
- 12:11Lee allegedly went to Mexico. But my friend Fred Litwin was kind enough to
- 12:22send me two more interviews with Daego that I didn't even know existed, and
- 12:30that's what we are going to be perusing today and see if we can glean
- 12:35some more information out of what he told al Cock and Garrison. And there's
- 12:43also another interview with a fellow by the name of Ken Elliott, who I
- 12:46believe was a local New Orleans disc jockey. But we'll get there, I
- 12:54promise. So first off, let's go with what he told Ken Elliott,
- 13:01and then we'll get into what he told the Garrison team. Who was Ken
- 13:07Elliott? Right? So, Ken Elliott was the former president and co owner
- 13:13of Barks Beverages felt Like Barks Rubier b a r Q. He was the
- 13:22former owner of the Ormond Plantation, Coe Boys of New Orleans, Cascade Wholesalers,
- 13:28Domine's Hardware, the Entree Vous Recording Studio, which it's probably where this
- 13:33interview took place. Hope Plumbing, the charter member of the Crew of Icarus
- 13:39and the founder of the Southern Yet Love of Louisiana, and his daddy's name
- 13:48was Jake the Kat Elliott. So another DJ and I'm sure a colorful character
- 14:01reading here from his obituary and the memory is shared by others. Uh probably
- 14:05quite a colorful a dude in his own right. But uh so this first
- 14:11interview with Ken Elliott. Your name, sir, answer you Go Corner.
- 14:18Now, those of you who do listen to the show, And I thought
- 14:24I had Daego's voice back in episode fourteen, Okay, yeah, quick,
- 14:33hits ah, I thought Dago talked to us something like this, like this
- 14:37hair. But apparently no, according to according to the mysterious manuscript that was
- 14:48written down, and they actually gave a description of Diego, who was about
- 14:56six foot tall, brown, per early hair, talked real low arm tattoos,
- 15:07wore tight jeans and biker gear, sports shirt, sunburnt ready complexion.
- 15:22Overall, just a real handsome type dude. So my Dago is gonna sound
- 15:26a little different now, knowing what the real one sounded like. Just ditinguish
- 15:31questions and answers here in these interviews. Your name, sir, Diego Garner,
- 15:41Diego Garner. And what is your legal given name, Darryl? Well,
- 15:46my first name is Diego. Everybody calls me Diego. All right,
- 15:52Diego, Now you're in the city of New Orleans on this Tuesday, June
- 15:56twenty sixth, it's the twenty seventh, oh sorry, twenty seven And you
- 16:03have come voluntarily to the studio here to record the facts that you are about
- 16:07to present, and we are going to make one copy for you to hold,
- 16:11and you were going to leave one copy in our custody with the understanding
- 16:14that it is not to be released to newspapers or television or magazine sources without
- 16:18you're okay, or in the event of your death. Is that correct?
- 16:25That's correct? All right? Now? How long have you been back in
- 16:29New Orleans, DAEGO? Approximately three weeks at this time. I have been
- 16:34in Delcowm, Louisiana, and I've just come back on the bus to New
- 16:38Orleans four days ago. Four days ago. Now, I understand that you
- 16:44have knowledge of facts pretending to the assassination, conspiracy and the death of President
- 16:48Kennedy. You have firsthand knowledge of such facts. Is that correct? And
- 16:52that is correct? And I understand that you were at the District Attorney's office
- 16:57yesterday and are due to go back to more Or for a polygraph examination.
- 17:03I was there yesterday and had the interviews, so they could figure out what
- 17:06kind of questions they wanted to ask me for the polygraph chest. Now you
- 17:12were at the DA's office voluntarily. Yes, I talked to Alcock and Garrison,
- 17:19District Attorney Alcock, and he had two more guys in there in the
- 17:23office at the same time, and they was all asking me questions. Now,
- 17:30why did you go to the DA's office. Was it at their request
- 17:33their suggestion? Here's the advice of my attorney, Jim McPherson. He's in
- 17:41the National Bank of Commerce Building eight Commerce Building. In other words, you
- 17:51consulted Mick Pherson and told him what you knew, and he advised you to
- 17:55make these facts known to the DA's office. Yes. At first, Hugh
- 18:00Amesworth from the Newsweekly advised me to go to Dallas and give it to Lieutenant
- 18:06Cunningham of the Intelligence Police down there to call. Why did he advise that?
- 18:11Did he say? He said the best thing for me was to get
- 18:15out of New Orleans because Garrison would hang me by the balls. But he
- 18:19also said that the paper was representing play show. Did he offer to pay
- 18:26your expenses to Dallas or anything of that nature. No, but he said
- 18:30he would guarantee me attorneys to represent me there. How long was this now?
- 18:37How long ago was this? Now? This was the day before yesterday.
- 18:44Had you already talked to your attorney here prior to the offer from Ainsworth?
- 18:48Nope, George didn't. That was when you went to seek advice.
- 18:53Well, when I went to talk to my attorney, eames Worth had given
- 18:57me his house phone number. He also gave me a number in New York
- 19:02where he's at, and he gave me the number in Houston where I could
- 19:04reach him at. Do you have those numbers on your person at this time?
- 19:10Yep? Or do just for a validity of this tape, why not
- 19:15give those numbers? Jigger was getting the numbers out of his wallet. This
- 19:22number is Newsweekly in New York. It's h A one Dash one two three
- 19:26four. That's Hugh Ainsworth in New York. And also he has another guy
- 19:33working for him in Houston, Texas, and that's c A eight dash eight
- 19:37seven eight seven. And his home phone number is JA five dash nine eight
- 19:44one five. All right, fine, that's on record now. And the
- 19:51Lieutenant Cunningham of the Intelligence Police Department which he told me to call, it
- 19:55was Riverside three dash nine seven one one in Dallastown, X is just for
- 20:00the record. You know, how did Ainsworth get in touch with you?
- 20:08Pauled Ainsworth from attorney called when from Dallas, Texas. Emit Caldwin. He's
- 20:15a criminal lawyer in Dallas, and he gave me Amesworth's number and told me
- 20:19to call him. In other words, you had consulted an attorney in Dallas
- 20:25before you consulted mister McPherson here in New Orleans. That's right, Elliott,
- 20:32and he advised that you contact Ainsworth with the Newsweekly. That's right. However,
- 20:37your attorney here after you consulted him, following your conversation with mister Amesworth,
- 20:44he advised you to go to d. A. Garrison's office and offer
- 20:47your testimony. Well, at first he said that sounded right, But after
- 20:52he said, well said the Newsweekly of sponsoring play for attorneys, and they're
- 20:59going to send you to and you wouldn't live a week there after you get
- 21:02there. Let me ask you this day, go, why did you finally
- 21:06decide after the lapse time involved here, why did you finally decide to consult
- 21:10attorney and tell him what you do? Well? It got where every time
- 21:15I tried to go work someplace. Uh, getting a little bit closer here
- 21:22to the mike, will you did goo? Sorry? Sorry, I can't
- 21:26go to work anywhere and hold a job down. I got to keep a
- 21:30ducking in the dodge and all the goddamn clouds. And I was in Dallas
- 21:34a short while ago when my ex wife said a sheriff was there looking for
- 21:38me and everything over this here, So I figured I might as well go
- 21:42ahead and get it over with. In other words, your ex wife said,
- 21:48a sheriff and the Dallas police was looking for you in connection with the
- 21:51Kennedy assassination. Yes, And they had been to my mama's house, and
- 21:56my mama and them said, they asked me to stay out of town.
- 22:00All right, we tell us, now, what is your connection with the
- 22:04case and what do you know? What information do you have to give it
- 22:08the authorities. Well, I was going with Nancy Mooney, this here stipper
- 22:18that worked for Jack Ruby. What time period was this? This here was
- 22:25just prior to when Kennedy got whacked mid sixty three, I would say,
- 22:33a month or so before he got killed. And I had stolen a lot
- 22:37of things. And Warren Reynolds then owned a Carlota there and he had talked
- 22:41to me about clay Shaw. He said, if I wanted to make some
- 22:45money, big money, I should go work for clay Shaw. Did they
- 22:52give you any idea what type of work it was? No, they didn't
- 22:56say what it was. But well then what happened, Well, Nancy took
- 23:03me down to the Carousel Club downtown Jack Ruby owned it, to get me
- 23:08fixed up with him. Did you meet Ruby? No, Ruby wasn't there
- 23:14at this time. The two guys were there and one of them was great
- 23:18headed, and I'm thinking it was Shaw, and another guy there was some
- 23:22Italian. Their name was not given to you at the time. No,
- 23:29it wasn't. But I told the DA yesterday and this here will be in
- 23:33a polygraph test that I'm taking. What did they talk to you about these
- 23:37two men? Well, they just said Jack Ruby wasn't there. We couldn't
- 23:41get down to no business until he was. They still at that time did
- 23:48not make any reference to Kennedy Warren Reynolds. After this year's the guy that
- 23:56I went to Dale down there for shooting and said that Kennedy had to be
- 24:00killed. And see Roberts worked there at the car lot too, and they
- 24:06shot him with a shot. Now you say, Reynolds, you went to
- 24:11jail for shooting. Did you shoot him? No? No, no,
- 24:15I didn't. I took me a lot to detect, the test and all
- 24:18that, and I didn't shoot him. And I was with Nancy Mooney the
- 24:21night he got shot. She was your witness, your alibi. Yes,
- 24:26And she's hung herself now in jail. And what was she in jail for
- 24:33at this time? She was in there for fighting. I think it was
- 24:36what they said, But she never hung herself. I don't believe that.
- 24:41I don't either day. Go all right, did you ever meet Jack Ruby?
- 24:48Yes? I have. How long after your first trip to the carousel
- 24:53did you meet Ruby? I would say in a week or less than a
- 24:59week. Where does this meeting take place? In Industrial Boulevard? Industrial Boulevard
- 25:06that's in Dallas. Not that either of Ruby's places of business. This here
- 25:11was his place down there. What was the name of that place? I
- 25:17don't know for sure what it was, but it was in one of his
- 25:22nightclubs, and it was present there when you met Ruby. Besides you and
- 25:26Ruby, just me and Ruby. But I was told to come back to
- 25:30the carousel and this is where I think I was supposed to meet play Shaw
- 25:36and this other guy. All right, Now, when you met Ruby,
- 25:38what he tell you, Well, he just said they had some deal they
- 25:44had to work out, and I was given a gun, and I went
- 25:47out to a guy's house and they gave me a pistol, and I went
- 25:49down and hawked the same day. You remember the name of the man from
- 25:56whom you got the pistol, Nope, don't recall. And they did not
- 26:02tell you what the pistol was for. He just gave me the gun.
- 26:07But I went and locked it because I wouldn't carry it because I had been
- 26:10caught carrying a gun in the state of Texas before. And they charged you
- 26:14one hundred and thirty two dollars and twenty cents for carrying a gun in Texas.
- 26:21What reason did you have for picking up the gun? Or didn't you
- 26:23know that you were going to pick up a gun? Yes, I know
- 26:26that I was going to yep, I knew I was going to pick that.
- 26:33But you see, Jack Ruby was a queer and this here guy that
- 26:37I went to his house was geared up for something or another too, and
- 26:41that was a friend of his. So I went out to his house.
- 26:48In other words, you say that Jack Ruby was a homosexual. Yeah,
- 26:52to your certain knowledge. Well, I've been asked on a polygraph test up
- 26:59there. You ever got any dealings with him like that? But no,
- 27:02I never did. Hm. Okay, So after you picked up that pistol
- 27:07you hawkeed it. What were you supposed to do after you picked up that
- 27:11pistol? I never did get any instructions on that. I left and went
- 27:15to Las Vegas, Nevada. Baby. In other words, you took the
- 27:21pistol, hawked it and left town. Yes, sir, that's right.
- 27:26Were you supposed to go back to Ruby's or what? Yes? I was
- 27:30supposed to go back to the Care of Self club, but different arrangements,
- 27:34whatever they were going to do. But I never did go back. I
- 27:38see. And where were you when the actual assassination took place? I was
- 27:45in Las Vegas. How long before the assassination was this meeting with Ruby?
- 27:51From a month or two months? It couldn't have been two months? I
- 27:56oh? No, I mean you're talking about the assassination, right, Yes,
- 28:02yeah, about a month or so? About a month or so?
- 28:07Okay? What was your reaction when you heard the Kennedy had been killed.
- 28:11Yeah, nothing really. I mean a guy at the Chesterfield Club in Vegas
- 28:17was setting up free drinks and everything, and I was just there drinking,
- 28:21setting up free drinks. Yes, did your conversation with Ruby or you're meeting
- 28:26with these men with these other two men come back to your mind? Then?
- 28:30Did you connect the two in your mind? Yeah? I kind of
- 28:37got a little scared about it, but I know that I may have been
- 28:41involved in it in some way. You know that coming up. But look
- 28:47at it this way. They ain't got They ain't going to name me because
- 28:51if they get down there then it would just be somebody testifying against them.
- 28:55See, let me ask you this day, though you've seen pictures of clay
- 29:00Shaw, yep, put you from the pictures you've seen, make a positive
- 29:06id honestly and feel you know that, without a shadow of doubt, that
- 29:08this is the man you met in the Carousel Club. Well, now,
- 29:14the district attorney asked me the same question, and I told them what the
- 29:18guy looked like, and told them how tall he was and everything, and
- 29:22they seem to think it was just about the same as glad Shaw. But
- 29:26right now, if clay Shaw was to walk up here. I couldn't say
- 29:30for sure that was clay Shaw. And there was no name whatsoever given to
- 29:36any of these two other two men. They were not introduced by name or
- 29:38whatever. No, there wasn't. But the girl Mooney Nancy mentioned clay Shaw
- 29:47and things. And then also at the Carlisle down there, he said,
- 29:51if I wanted to make some big money, I could go to work for
- 29:53Clee Shaw. And this other guy said, you shouldn't be telling him things
- 29:57like that because he's going to get his in trouble. To your knowledge,
- 30:02you never came into contact with Lee Harvey Oswald. No, I never talked
- 30:07to Lee Harvey. Where were you earlier in sixty three? In late sixty
- 30:11two, Daego, Oh wow? All over California, Nevada, Texas.
- 30:19I mean I just kind of loafed around, you know't uh, when's the
- 30:25first time you came to New Orleans this year? This year? This is
- 30:30your first trip here? Is there anything else that you can think of or
- 30:33any other names that you could like to document here or add to this tape.
- 30:40And then one other question here while we're on the subject, this meeting
- 30:42at the carousel, You say, Nancy Mooney took you there. Yep,
- 30:45she showed it, and she took you into the room where you met these
- 30:51two men. That's right. But she did not introduce you to them.
- 30:56No, she did not she or did she? Active she knew them,
- 31:02Yeah, she knew him. And this other girl that lived with Nancy.
- 31:04Well, Nancy's dead now, but I knew the other girl that live with
- 31:08Nancy, And if I had a chance to talk to her, of course,
- 31:12I don't know she would say anything or not. What was her name,
- 31:18I don't know. But then the boy that was with us, I
- 31:22knew. His name was Audie Anderson. Audie Anderson, Yes, Audi Anderson.
- 31:32And he was with you when Nancy took you to the club, Yes,
- 31:34he was, and he was present when No, No, no he
- 31:40didn't. He didn't go inside none. I believe he stayed out in the
- 31:42car with this other girl when we went inside. But Nancy was in the
- 31:48room with you and these two men. Yes, Nancy was my witness when
- 31:52Warren got shot. She was with me the night he got shot. We
- 31:56were having sexual relations, if you will. Yes, And what did you
- 32:02discuss with these two men after they told you? Until Ruby was there?
- 32:06You couldn't really talk business nothing, that's it. In other words, you
- 32:12just walk in. They said, Ruby's not here. I went into a
- 32:15private office for this. Oh you say you were not in a private office.
- 32:22There was an office there, I say, But they didn't say they
- 32:25expected Ruby or anything. They said he would be back in a little while,
- 32:31you know, And then Nancy was sick, so we left him there
- 32:35and I never did go back that night. Let's see, In other words,
- 32:40you were in the office, how long would you say, all pold
- 32:43em, just a short while, just a matter of minutes. I know,
- 32:47it wasn't too long. And you don't recall any other conversation, any
- 32:52other comments that were made to you while you were in the room with the
- 32:54two men. No, I can't. I was just off the cuff.
- 33:00The man with the I don't recall if you described with white hair, gray
- 33:04hair, it was gray. Was his hair straight, curly, kinky?
- 33:09What do you recall? Well, it was kind of a crop hair cut
- 33:15fairly long, crop hair cut fairly long. And would you say he had
- 33:21straight hair, curly hair, kinky hair? For instance, I would describe
- 33:23your hair as a little bit curly. Well, he had a little kind
- 33:30of wavy kind of light. But it wasn't a crop hair cut, you
- 33:34know, like a flat top kind of long. Okay, any other names
- 33:39that enter into this thing. Let me ask you this. When did you
- 33:44go back to Dallas. You say you were in Vegas at the time of
- 33:45the assassination? Right, Yes? When did you return to Texas? Get
- 33:52into the mic here dego so we'll be able to hear you. I would
- 33:57say a month or so after that I went back to What was your reason
- 34:01for returning to Dallas, Nancy Mooney or did you go for another reason?
- 34:07No? No, I just went down there messing around. I went down
- 34:10there, well, I was going with this girl and I drove a car
- 34:14down there and sold it. And that's that's when Warren got shot in I
- 34:19see, and they put me in jail, this time for shooting him.
- 34:22When you went back to Dallas. Did you have warrants out for you in
- 34:25Dallas? Then? No. In other words, the warrants that they're holding
- 34:31for you now are the ones you incurred after you went back there. Yes.
- 34:42Did Ruby say anything to you about being able to fix any wraps that
- 34:45you might have? No? But Garrison did he told me down here that
- 34:51if I got anything on me in Louisiana that it, I could just I
- 34:54could just have a clean slate here. Everything would just disappear, if you
- 35:00know what I'm saying. Are there any warrants outstanding against you here? I
- 35:06don't know. One reason that you gave me for wanting to make this tape
- 35:10is that you're afraid somebody might think you called it wipe you out, That's
- 35:15right. Why do you fear for your life? Day? Ye? Well,
- 35:21if you see I'm in the Warren Commission. My name's in the Warren
- 35:24Commission. Did you testify before them? No? No, No, I
- 35:29didn't bought my names in there. Did FBI agents or CIA talk to you?
- 35:36Well, I heard they were looking for me, but they never did
- 35:38talk to me. But my name's in there in several places. M hm.
- 35:45And you take this man, I don't know thirty something or other shot
- 35:49that's been in the Warren Commission altogether. So I just figured it's just a
- 35:52matter of time before they snap down on me too. You feel me.
- 35:58How many people who died were you've connected with directly or indirectly with that you
- 36:04knew personally with the assassination? Well, of course you know Nancy, and
- 36:12you figure that Nancy's hanging herself and her cell is not a true story.
- 36:15Well, no, because I know her too well for that. And then
- 36:20I know just a short old kind of acquaintance with Ruby. I know him,
- 36:24like I said, just a short while then, the guy who Feeling
- 36:29Florida about seven or eight months ago. He was a gangster. I knew
- 36:31him. I've been in jail with him before. And what's his connection with
- 36:37this? I don't know, just that he was in Dallas at the time,
- 36:51but I know that he wound up dead over it. I know that
- 36:52much. I know that he'd go down there and they got him, and
- 36:57I know they'd get me. I know that. Now. Is there any
- 37:00idea in your mind you're referring to when you say they no, just a
- 37:06bunch of other people involved in this here, I don't know exactly who,
- 37:08but whoever it has got a lot of money. You can bet that.
- 37:14In other words, there's no doubt in your mind about the death of President
- 37:16Kennedy was the result of a conspiracy. Yeah, I mean that all planned.
- 37:24It wasn't no just Harvey Oswald shooting and Jack Ruby running down there and
- 37:30shooting him. There was nothing to that. But did anybody ever directly say
- 37:36to you, Diego, we want you to kill the president. No,
- 37:38but they getting from the mic, please they go. Sorry. They said
- 37:44that Kennedy had to be killed, and this here, and this was here
- 37:49at the car lot. They said that that was at the car lot.
- 37:54But Ruby never said it to you. No, nor either of the two
- 38:01men you met at the carousel in Ruby's absence. Well, I didn't talk
- 38:06to them. I mean I was supposed to go back and talk to him,
- 38:08but I never did. I see. Okay, well I think they
- 38:14actually wrap it up, Daego, thank you my pleasure. So that is
- 38:20the Ken Elliott interview with Diego Darryl Gardner. And that sounded me like a
- 38:30whole lot of fluff and not a whole lot of substance. Too much pastry,
- 38:36not enough cream. If you'll see here what I'm saying now from New
- 38:40Orleans, Louisiana. No, I mean, honestly, h you know why
- 38:50Diego would want to have this interview with this Ken Elliott guy and have it
- 38:53recorded and put out only after he's dead based on what he told Elliott makes
- 39:01no sense whatsoever. I mean, he really didn't say anything either incriminating himself
- 39:08or anybody else for that matter. A lot of very vagant, a lot
- 39:13of very vagueness, you know. Ah, quite different than the Mark Lane
- 39:19interview. I will say, uh, in that interview, who was much
- 39:24better acquainted with Jack Ruby and his strippers and Lee Harvey Oswald. And now
- 39:32he doesn't say he ever knew Lee Harvey and barely knew Jack. So let's
- 39:43see what he told Garrison. Keep in mind, folks, that Garrison never
- 39:49used Diego Garner in the trial against Clay Shaw. And I think you'll figure
- 39:55out why in this next interview. Mm hmmm, Oh boy, here we
- 40:01go height interrogation of Dego Garner. But Jim Garrison, the officer of the
- 40:13District Attorney in July eighteenth, nineteen sixty seven. Did you know Warren Reynolds.
- 40:19I know Warren and Johnny his brother own the car lot. Known him
- 40:22for quite a while. Did you know Tippet? He came up here all
- 40:29the time and eat around, and he knew me. He knew that I
- 40:32would do the first one thing and then another Warren Reynolds and john and told
- 40:37him that I had some rifles for sale. He said, he knew were
- 40:40he could tell he could sell some high powered rifles. I asked him what
- 40:45he was going to do with some rifles, and he said, dear hunting.
- 40:50Tippet said that, yeah, when was this shortly before the assassination?
- 40:57He said he didn't know if they were stolen the nod. He said,
- 41:00nobody would say anything. Tippet said this, Yeah, he said, you
- 41:07ain't got to worry about me. Boy, I drank beer in his car
- 41:10shooting the breeze. You seen him before, he'd been down at the Carousel
- 41:16Club, but I didn't talk to him. He had on a suit and
- 41:19all end you said, he was wearing a suit of clothes. How many
- 41:23times did you see him at the Carousel Club? That once or twice?
- 41:30You already knew him and he talked to him. Yes, what did he
- 41:32do with the Carousel Club? I don't know. And then there's a part
- 41:40of it I can't read. It's kind of faded out. Uh. And
- 41:52then my some guy named Roberts, what did he do for a living?
- 41:58Selling bars for the rental burner? What happened to Roberts? Somebody shot him
- 42:04with the shotgune. They said he wasn't going with somebody's wife. That's why
- 42:07I got shot. I don't know if it messing around. Seemed like a
- 42:13pretty straight guy to me. You know where he was shot. Who How
- 42:17long before the assassination? Oh? Three maybe four months? Maybe less than
- 42:22that. Did you ever talk to Reynolds about clay Shaw, as Roberts suggested.
- 42:30I talked about it one time, but he didn't say nothing. One
- 42:32morning, I was talking to Reynolds and the subject came up. Some guy
- 42:37I never saw before, was there, Warren or? One of them said
- 42:40Kennedy has to be killed. Warren or the other guy said that. Somebody
- 42:46with Reynolds said that. Did Reynolds say anything. He said something about it,
- 42:52and they said he was going to get in trouble before the president was
- 42:57killed. Yes, Warren to indicate that he knew clay Shaw. I don't
- 43:01remember. Did you ask him about it? I told him Roberts said,
- 43:07I could talk to you about where I make some big money. I didn't
- 43:10go up to him and say anything about clay Shaw. What did he say?
- 43:15I don't remember. He just talked about something else. No went out
- 43:20to his house and he says something else. But I told him I could
- 43:22get I told him I could get out of the penny and his stuff.
- 43:28Did Warren Reynolds know Jack Ruby? I don't know, But did he know
- 43:34Tippet? Yes, you say you saw Gordon Develle? You identified this picture
- 43:39of Gordon Develle. Where did you know him from? I've been in jail
- 43:45with him in Dallas. Picture of Clay Shaw. Have you ever seen this
- 43:51man? I have seen a guy in the Carousel Club. I went with
- 43:57Nancy Mooney to meet some guys make some big money. Guy looked something like
- 44:00this guy was dressed a lot better and looked a lot younger. But as
- 44:05far as Mill looks, not the same. I got a drink and as
- 44:09he went back into private office and he told them who it was, but
- 44:14they couldn't talk about it until Jack got back. Just for the record,
- 44:20this picture we talked about if Klay Shaw is not a very good picture of
- 44:22Shawl. He was taken after he was arrested. And he doesn't even have
- 44:25a tie on him. Uh you say the man you met had on a
- 44:30tie? Oh? Yes, real nice looking thing. Cut guy? Was
- 44:35he tall? Paul, taller than you? Yes, with pillar hair gray.
- 44:45And they talked about the fella that was with him. The Italian Tello
- 44:52picture was of our Sergio Kasha, except Sergio Kasha was about five to eight.
- 44:59He was something that showing you a picture of Emilia Santana. Oh yeah,
- 45:05that guy was with Jack Ruby a lot. This fellow was very short,
- 45:09Yeah, little bitty guy. Did you ever see him with anybody else
- 45:14but Ruby? One night when his boy came out of the house spending night
- 45:19out there, Nancy was there, and then we'll talking about the short guy
- 45:22that was going with Ruby. This is the guy that was going with him.
- 45:27If you know what I'm saying, he had a relationship with some kind
- 45:30with Ruby. Do you know where he was staying? No? Do you
- 45:36know what they called him? No? Did he speak English? Never talked
- 45:40to him. The interesting thing about your identification of Amelia Santana as the guy
- 45:47who was associated with Ruby, this is almost the exact description of the man
- 45:52who shot Warren Reynolds. Very short and strong looking. How many times you
- 45:58think you saw this fella shown up picture of Emilio Santana. I've seen him
- 46:04about three or four times the night glove there, Rubys. That's why I
- 46:08couldn't believe the things that Nancy was telling me that they were geared up together
- 46:13there. You know he had relations with Nancy before too, you know Ruby.
- 46:19You mean yeah, I don't mean. They had this private party there
- 46:24and he was out there stripping for him. And this was before the assassination.
- 46:29You know the boy that was in the penitentiary, he was playing out
- 46:32there. She was out there stripping that night at the private party there in
- 46:36Dallas. Terris l or Vigas, No, no private party. Do you
- 46:43know who was else was at the private party? This one guy? I
- 46:47know who does because he was playing there. Do you know his name?
- 46:53Not off hand, but I can find out he is not in the penitentiary.
- 46:59No, No, you were talking about this man that the FBI talked
- 47:04to too. Yes, refers to the picture of Clay Shaw. Does that
- 47:09one look familiar? The guy looked something like him a little more distinguished here
- 47:15because he has his tie on. This could have been him in Dallas.
- 47:22After Nancy Mooney brought you into the two fellows, the gray haired fellow and
- 47:24the Italian looking fella, they wouldn't talk to you and out until Jack Ruby
- 47:30came. Yes, they said they had to wait for Jack. So we're
- 47:36back to this story about that a medium on Industrial. Now here's a picture
- 47:43of a friend of Santana's. This man's name is Miguel Torres. Oh yeah,
- 47:50he came to the Beckley Club many times. What's what's the Beckley Club?
- 47:57It's a place on Jefferson there near the Texas Theater. How was he
- 48:01usually dressed? Looked like a Mexican? Was short. This fellow is Cuban.
- 48:07Did he speak English? Cuban? Latino? They all look Mexican to
- 48:14me. I spoke with him, ever seen him with anybody? It's been
- 48:20a long time. He is a dope addict. I messed around with a
- 48:24little dope too, sir. There ain't nothing wrong with that. Do you
- 48:30know him in that connection? Nope? I can't say that I have.
- 48:35But he seems like a nice fella. He is from New Orleans. But
- 48:40you feel like you have seen him in Dallas. I've seen him at the
- 48:44Beckley. That's an eating place. Yes. Do you know if Oswald ever
- 48:51went there? Nope? Have you ever seen this fellow? His name is
- 48:55Morris Brownlee. Uh, I've never seen him. Never seen Brownly. Look
- 49:05this friend of mine, we all stay together all the time during this time
- 49:07here he messed around with a little plot, if you know what I'm saying,
- 49:12if there was anybody fixing up or anything like that, he wouldn't know
- 49:15him in Dallas? Yeah, would your friend talk to anybody here? And
- 49:22if you got him tied up tight enough, he might what do you mean,
- 49:27get him scared enough? Ever? Hear of Guy Cabalden? Never heard
- 49:32the name Earlene Roberts. That was Oswal's land lady. Did you know her?
- 49:40Not personally, Fir, Sorry, not personally? How do you know
- 49:46that that was Oswald's landlady? Hi? I read it in the paper.
- 49:53What about birtha cheek? She's a pastor acquaintance of Jack Ruby and the sister
- 49:59of Earlen Roberts. Nope, I don't know her. Louis Loge Nope,
- 50:07never heard of me. Manny Rodriguez Gilbert saying Chez, I know a bunch
- 50:13of saying chess. Manuel Gonzalez, Yeah, I know of Emmanuel Gonzales.
- 50:20I know one in Dallas. I know one in California too, the one
- 50:25in Dallas. What's he looked like? Short, stocky eyed, long hair,
- 50:30heavy built. Does he have a nickname? I think we called him
- 50:35Buddha. Have you ever heard of anybody by the nicknaname of Toro or El
- 50:40Toro. I know one we called the bull, but not poor. Oh
- 50:46who was that? That was a Jesus Garcia? All right? Sorry,
- 50:52hey, Jesus Garcia. What was his full name? Do you know one
- 51:00Jesus Garcia? You know him had his Cortez or el texture. I never
- 51:08heard that name. Do you know a man named Manuel Garcia Gonzales? I
- 51:15have heard of the name several times. What about Manning Gonzales? Have he
- 51:21set with black hair? What's he do for a living? Ah? He
- 51:24lived over on the West Side, ran around with Sonny Kane and Danny Smith
- 51:29known as known. His old lop ear had just one ear that folded over
- 51:36like a bloody rabbit. How about Audie Anderson? Did he know Manuel Gonzales?
- 51:45I imagine he did. Do you know of anybody in the electronics business
- 51:47in Dallas? Nope? Ever see a Latin fellow about six foot tall?
- 51:52Have he set about two point forty where his glasses and electronics business? Nope?
- 51:58Do you know Breck Wall noop, he is the guy they had shot
- 52:05at the Adolphice. Do you know Bruce Ray Carlin? I know one I
- 52:09called him Bruce Ray, big tall guy, a whole lot of etchings on
- 52:14his face. Was he related Bruce Raye? The Bruce Ray I'm talking about
- 52:21is the husband of little Lynn Carr that worked for Jack Ruby. Say Ray,
- 52:27girl, is that the fellow? No? Did you ever talked to
- 52:32Warren Reynolds at all after the assassination? No? They kind of got a
- 52:37little down on me, told me not to come on ther lot no more.
- 52:40We got in a little hassle out there. I came from California,
- 52:45had a car, and I wanted to sell it to him. When was
- 52:47this after the assassination? What this was when he got shot? He either
- 52:54got shot that night or the next night when I tried to sell him in
- 52:58the car. I don't think I talked to him. Actually, I think
- 53:01I talked to his brother John. You never talked to Reynolds anymore, dude.
- 53:08I called out there and talked to John one day before they put me
- 53:12back in jail for the second time. They said the best thing to do
- 53:15is just forget it and don't come around there no more. And Reynolds told
- 53:21him that you shot him. No, No, well somebody must have.
- 53:25I got on the phone ryndlds talked. Then they started following me all the
- 53:30time. Afterwards. Neville showed up in Vegas shortly after the assassination. Did
- 53:35you ever see him in Vegas? I did hear some remarks talking about he
- 53:40being in Vegas in the newspapers and stuff. Did you ever hear of Honest
- 53:45Joe or the name of Ruby Goldberg. That's him potting it down. Now,
- 53:53if you have have a hassle or some kind of fight, I'll go
- 53:57between you, know what I mean? If you need to buy something to
- 54:00sell something. He does things for Jack Ruby. They were real close to
- 54:04one another. You could find Jack Ruby's picture in there. You can buy
- 54:07any kind of gun you want. He specializes in rifles, yet rifles,
- 54:13not powered ones. Is Ruby Goldstein on pretty good terms with the Dallas police
- 54:17Force. They don't mess with him. I guess he's got something going for
- 54:22him. On top of Honest Joe station wagon, there's a machine gun.
- 54:27What is that for? To catch attention? Yeah? I guess. So
- 54:31people down there were talking to me and wanted to know who was the guy
- 54:35around the grassy, know, in the car that was traveling around there had
- 54:37a radio area on top or something. Where was Tippet when the assassination occurred?
- 54:45Straight over the bridge? How do you know Officer Tippett was there.
- 54:49I have some friends there at the station. They had asked me about it.
- 54:53And this was in January. You got a gun in January sixty four.
- 54:58I had a gun twenty two Maretta that I got illegally and got busted.
- 55:02And that was when Tippet was trying to buy a gun from me.
- 55:07Did Jack Ruby indicate why he was giving you a gun? Ruby didn't give
- 55:12it to me. Some of the guys tied up with Ruby and the Nancy
- 55:14knew. They're all fans. See you got the gun after the assassination,
- 55:20Yes, sir, after the assassination I've talked to She talked to me about
- 55:23it before. One night before Kennedy was assassinated, I went to a meeting
- 55:29and she told me then was the show on? Then they had an admission
- 55:36at the show when I got there. Do you remember about what time it
- 55:39was? And you saw the gray haired man at Jack Ruby's oh about ten
- 55:45or eleven in his office. Ruby's private office was Larry Craiford working for Jack
- 55:51Ruby. Then, I don't know, do you know any other guys that
- 55:55work for these fellows. No. Ue a girlfriend and Nancy's her buddy had
- 56:01something to do with it. They didn't tell you anything. You had to
- 56:06be real bat or they told you anything. They had to really know something
- 56:09about you before they would talk to you. Was it your impression that Jack
- 56:15Ruby was tied in with some racketeers. I believe he had something going on.
- 56:20He wouldn't offer me a job if he didn't. Did Nancy give you
- 56:23any idea of the type of working ball Nope. The man that was with
- 56:28the gray haired man, the Italian? Did he have a scar? I
- 56:32don't know. He didn't have a mustache. What about Lawrence Howard? What
- 56:37time of day did you see him at the carousel? Oh? One afternoon?
- 56:43He was a bouncer there. We had an argument. This is a
- 56:46picture of Lawrence Howard. Is this the bouncer? Do you have the argument
- 56:51with? Do you remember what it was about? Did he have an accent?
- 56:59Actually? I think all he did? Sorryus? Did he have an
- 57:07accent? Actually all? I think? I think all he did. Me
- 57:10and that bouncer got into it. Hold it on, they don't like you
- 57:15hanging around there. The bouncer said something. Well, Jack Ruby there at
- 57:20the time. I believe he was that day Jack Ruby came through there,
- 57:24and when he did, he stopped and talked to a few people. He
- 57:28was real stick necked. Jack Ruby was a stiff necked Yeah, kind of
- 57:34insulting, big shot, big man. I thought it was supposed to be
- 57:39the kind of guy that gave you a big hello, but maybe that was
- 57:44only with people he thought were important. He talked to me, he told
- 57:47me to come down and seem he did not give you a gun himself.
- 57:52Did he tell you about big money? Oh, Nancy talked to him and
- 57:57she told me. Just before Warren got me and Nancy and another couple were
- 58:00sitting in the car outside the house there talking about first one thing and then
- 58:06another. And I was drunk, and one paying attention to Nancy and the
- 58:08other people were talking. The other girl worked at the Caresel club and she
- 58:13was a cigarette girl. And there was another boy. Describe the girl.
- 58:19Oh, she had long black hair. They were talking about Ruby and the
- 58:22people who were coming down there, indicating something was going on. Ah,
- 58:28No, this was after the assassination. They were talking about people showing up
- 58:32before the assassination. Yes, did they mention any of the people at the
- 58:37meetings. Don't know. Did Nancy ever mention to you about other Latinos or
- 58:45Mexicans around the house around her apartment? I don't know whose name the apartment
- 58:52was rented in. Do you recall any Latins, Cubans or Mexicans. Oh?
- 58:55Yeah, there was always a bunch of them people combing in and now
- 59:00like Grand Central fucking station. What about Amelia Santana? Did you ever see
- 59:07him or talk to him? I saw him with Jack Ruby. They pointed
- 59:13him out. Nancy said that Jack Ruby and Emelio Santana were living together,
- 59:16if you know what I mean. How long before the assassination was at I
- 59:22know, short time, for a few weeks or so. There was another
- 59:25guy who slept at the pad as well, Nancy's pad, Yes, sir,
- 59:31he looked like him. He looked something like him. Yeah. Did
- 59:37you ever see Santana at the Carousel Club? Yes? Do you know anyone
- 59:42else who may be able to identify anyone at the club? I know two
- 59:45people wanted to have trouble getting up here. There were three or four friends
- 59:51who stayed around with me and Nancy all the time who saw Santana. Can
- 59:54you name them? Yeah, Hardy Anderson. I don't know the whole names.
- 1:00:00There was Hetty Coat. What's that name? Eddy Coat? Like a
- 1:00:07woman's slip. Why did you call him that? Just a nickname? His
- 1:00:14name's Hetty Card. He sells stuff all the time, kind of stuff.
- 1:00:19Nope. Yeah, at the East Grand That's where old lop Ear would be
- 1:00:24too. Did lop Ear see Santana with Ruby? More than likely anyone else?
- 1:00:32Anyone else? I have two or three girls hung around there, and
- 1:00:37I was living with one of them for four or five months before I come
- 1:00:40down here since Nancy was killed. She worked at the drive in and danced
- 1:00:46at a private club on David Street. She used to work for Jack Ruby.
- 1:00:52She would be at some of the private parties with Ruby. What's her
- 1:00:58name now? I don't know her name. I lived with her for five
- 1:01:01months and don't even remember her name. Do you ever remember Santana being called
- 1:01:09by his first name? Nope. He was been sitting there drinking and Jack
- 1:01:14Ruby come by, rubble on his leg and say, this was my boy?
- 1:01:22Was he the Mexican human type? Yes, sir? Did he ever
- 1:01:27talk at all? Not to me? Nancy said, he's the boy who's
- 1:01:31living with Jack Ruby. What was Nancy doing at the time, I was
- 1:01:37hustling her, horn her out, then limping her out for the assassination.
- 1:01:40You know when did she start working for Ruby? Ah? She worked for
- 1:01:46him, So I'm just write for the assassination three weeks or so before she
- 1:01:51went out and stripped for him at a party. Is your impression that Santana
- 1:01:55was with Ruby around that time? For that, I'd say. I asked
- 1:02:02you earlier about Larry Schmidt. Have you ever seen him? I believe so.
- 1:02:08What did he look like? Oh? He was German, not quite
- 1:02:13as big as I am, long knows, wavy black hair. Did he
- 1:02:16have a German accent? Not that I know of, but he was from
- 1:02:22Germany? Yeah, and some more smuggy smudge. Did you ever meet any
- 1:02:31of the people who knew Nancy when she worked for the library? Uh?
- 1:02:36Maybe the Donnings. What did they do? Edgreey young boys? The police
- 1:02:42it's up in front of Nancy's house one night for investigation. Did you ever
- 1:02:46know who's pained? No? No, but I knew lots of pains pains
- 1:02:53ass Did you ever know any of the people that knew Oswald's wife Marina.
- 1:03:00Nope. Did Nancy ever say anything to you about the assassination? At night?
- 1:03:06We talked about it. She was real worried about it. She never
- 1:03:09did come out and say it. She had a cool hand. Looke,
- 1:03:15What does she say that indicated she was worried. Well, at least talk
- 1:03:20to her. And they came when Reynolds got shot and said, and she
- 1:03:22told me something about that, talking about the hassles, calling back to the
- 1:03:28assassination in November, almost two months before Reynolds was shot. Did she talk
- 1:03:32about the assassination at all? I left about that time. I stayed for
- 1:03:37a while in Vegas and then came back just before Reynolds was shot. Did
- 1:03:44she ever say anything about Ruby's connections? She said he was a queer.
- 1:03:50He met her like a homosexual. You could get me in with him and
- 1:03:53I could make good money. Did you ever ask her what she was talking
- 1:04:00about? No? Never did. Here are some pictures of Mario or Bermudez.
- 1:04:05Can you identify him the man with the mustache. I've never ever seen
- 1:04:10him before I taken. Nancy was close mouthed after the assassination. Look,
- 1:04:16she was worried. The other girl is too real? Shook up about it?
- 1:04:25Smug smuged? He was shot at in Gardenia, California. Who shot
- 1:04:31at you? Nine months ago? I was at a bar over there and
- 1:04:35had a guy come up and talk to me. It was open, now,
- 1:04:39you know, everybody drinking, paying no attention to what room you were
- 1:04:43in. The guy came in and had a gun on him. He talked
- 1:04:46to me and finally got around saying something about Reynolds. He said he knew
- 1:04:50me, and then I left there and went to catch a bus. Anyway,
- 1:04:54I went down to get the bus and he shot at me. He
- 1:04:57must have used a silencer, because I heard the bullet before I saw him.
- 1:05:01I never heard the bullets before I saw him. He was on foot.
- 1:05:06Yes, I stayed in the garage at a friend's hotel after a while.
- 1:05:11Did you run? Hell? Yeah, pretty fast as fast as I
- 1:05:16could. If he missed me the first time, I wasn't gonna give him
- 1:05:20another chance. What did he look like? I don't know. I was
- 1:05:25running. Was he fat or thin? Just a man, mister Garrison,
- 1:05:30That's all I know. Was he Latino or American American? I guess I
- 1:05:36just wanted to get away. I'm running away, sir, I am not
- 1:05:41looking behind me. Why did he shoot at you? He don't just go
- 1:05:50up and talk to people like that without a reason. You think I asked
- 1:05:55this fellow why he's shooting at me? I told you I am running no
- 1:06:00way, sir. Did he come from Dallas? I don't know where the
- 1:06:05hell he came from. Another time in Long Beach I got shot at How
- 1:06:15long ago was this? How about Junior July last year? Somebody wanted me
- 1:06:23to go into the police station and give myself up. I told him stop
- 1:06:28shooting at me, and they didn't believe me. Was it before or after
- 1:06:33the first shooting? After the Gardenia shooting? Was nine months after that?
- 1:06:47Another man was killed in Long Beach, a detective or something. It was
- 1:06:57a news reporter. They said he was his gun and accidentally put a hole
- 1:07:00in his head. Do you know Tom Beckham? I heard his name,
- 1:07:06but I don't know where from. I know Tom Howard he got killed.
- 1:07:10He used to get me out of jail, didn't charge me, nothing but
- 1:07:13a blowjob. And and Nay Wade. He's Henry Wade's brother. He's a
- 1:07:18queer too. He knew Jack Ruby as well. Who got you out of
- 1:07:26jail, Tom Howard, Tyler Sullivan and Hey Wade Nay Wade. I know
- 1:07:31Tom Howard, the friend of Jack Ruby's. Would you tell me again what
- 1:07:36Hugh Ainsworth suggested to you? Something about going back to Dallas. I talked
- 1:07:42to Lieutenant Cunningham in Dallas. He told me to get out of New Orleans
- 1:07:45or I'd be hanged by the balls if I stayed there. Did he say
- 1:07:49why he would do this to you? Nope? Did he say anything about
- 1:07:54Newsweek? He said, you did not have anything. Do you say anything
- 1:08:00about Newsweek in connection with clay Shaw? He said they were representing saw Newsweeks
- 1:08:06was representing clay Shaw. That's what he said, sir. So there you
- 1:08:14have. They goes Jim Garrison interview. I can only imagine the thoughts going
- 1:08:28through Jim Garrison's mind after talking to that some bitch. Holy wow, no
- 1:08:32wonder. He never used him against clay Shaw. But man, man or
- 1:08:45man. Now, what's interesting about all this is that Warren Reynolds also was
- 1:08:55friendly with General Walker, General Edwin Walker in Dallas as well. He used
- 1:09:02to talk to the General all the time. It was the extreme right winger
- 1:09:05like the General I believe was instrumental in getting h. Reynolds to speak to
- 1:09:15the Warrant Commission. Was General Walker. Ah, so very interesting there we
- 1:09:21know he used to visit the General's house, probably probably homosexual tendencies. Like
- 1:09:30all the rest of these fellas, I believe Dago would go both ways,
- 1:09:40as did Jack Ruby, although apparently he would just he would just eat him
- 1:09:45and stuff according to Dago. Uh So let's end this with a bang,
- 1:09:53shall we Uh? And as I said, you know, Ordego would go
- 1:10:01only to live another five years or so ended up odin passing away. So
- 1:10:11next up I have the Mark Lane interview of Warren Reynolds. Mister Reynolds,
- 1:10:17where are you employed at the Johnny Reynolds Car Company and were you working there
- 1:10:26on November twenty second, nineteen sixty three? Yes, sir. How close
- 1:10:30is the used car lot which you work to the scene of the typic killing
- 1:10:34one block? Were you there at about one o'clock on the twenty second?
- 1:10:41Yes, sir? And then what happened? What did you see? What
- 1:10:45did you hear? We were listening if mister Blake would just start, oh
- 1:10:53what did you see and what did you hear? Well? We were listening
- 1:10:57to the radio about the assassinationation are about to attempt the assassination of Kennedy,
- 1:11:02And we heard these shots going off and we run out on this porch and
- 1:11:06we saw this gumming who we know later is os Walder, running up the
- 1:11:11street and I followed him for a block until I lost him. And then
- 1:11:15I was going back to the used car lot, and this policeman stopped me
- 1:11:17and asked me what happened, and I told him that I had seen this
- 1:11:21man with a gun and I had followed him, but I lost him.
- 1:11:27So he took the description in my name and stuff like that, and while
- 1:11:30I was talking to him, some television camera was taking the pictures. And
- 1:11:33after that I went on back to the used car lot. Were you questioned
- 1:11:38by agents of the FBI or the US Secret Service? No, I sure
- 1:11:43wasn't. Were you questioned by FBI agents of Secret Service during December nineteen sixty
- 1:11:47three, No, sir, I sure it wasn't. Were you questioned by
- 1:11:53FBI agents the Secret Service during January sixty four? Yes, sir, I
- 1:11:58was. And when was that, sir? That was on January the twenty
- 1:12:02first, two agents came out and they talked to me and asked me what
- 1:12:06I had seen, and I told them, and they showed me three pictures,
- 1:12:11and I identified the pictures of the man I knew then as Lee Harvey
- 1:12:14Oswald, and I identified and they left and mister Reynolds. On page one
- 1:12:20seventy one of the Warran Commission Report, the commission states Reynolds did not make
- 1:12:25positive identification when interviewed by the FBI. What is your coming on that that's
- 1:12:33definitely an air you were questioned by agents of the FBI on January twenty first,
- 1:12:39sixty four. And then what happened? Well two days after that,
- 1:12:43I was closing up to use Parlott one night and I went downstairs to turn
- 1:12:45off the lights, and some gunman was hidden down there and he shot me.
- 1:12:49He hied me through the glasses right here, and the bullet lodged right
- 1:12:53over here. I staged it upstairs and got this towel to stop the blood,
- 1:12:58and the gunman ran by. I mean I just caught a blur of
- 1:13:00him. Then I went on in the office and I called the police,
- 1:13:04and then I laid on a car on a devon until they got there.
- 1:13:11Mister Reynolds who knew about your questioning by the FBI between the time you were
- 1:13:15actually questioned by them and the time that you were shot by two days later,
- 1:13:19just my friends and well, of course my family. Do you think
- 1:13:24the attack upon you in January was related to what you had seen on November
- 1:13:28twenty second? I believe the only way we can find out is to find
- 1:13:31out who shot me and to prove what he did, and then we could
- 1:13:35figure from now. Do you know whether or not the commission conducted an investigation
- 1:13:41to determine whether or not there was a relationship between these two events. I
- 1:13:46heard that they asked Captain Fritz his opinion. Well, I'd like to read
- 1:13:50to you, mister Reynolds, Captain Fritz's testimony, his entire testimony in this
- 1:13:55area. He was questioned by an attorney for the Warrant Commissioner, who asked
- 1:13:58him that I'm now reading from volume four, page two thirty five. Did
- 1:14:03you hear of Warren Reynolds. Warren Reynolds, he was shot sometimes afterwards,
- 1:14:10used car lot man, Yeah, used car lot man. Yeah. I
- 1:14:13talked to him, he was shot through the head. Yes, I didn't
- 1:14:16talk to him very long because I didn't have talk to him long. I
- 1:14:20didn't have to talk to him very long. But he told me two or
- 1:14:23three different stories. And I could tell he was a sick man, and
- 1:14:26he had no doubt brain damage from that bullet. And he is apt to
- 1:14:30say anything. What did he say? He told me that he told me
- 1:14:35two or three stories. One story he told me when they brought him in
- 1:14:40to me for me to talk to him. He told me that he saw
- 1:14:43this Ruby coming down there, and he told him he said, he followed
- 1:14:48him and saw which way he went. Ruby saw Oswald, Oswald, Yes,
- 1:14:57Oswald. And I questioned him further, and I I asked him how
- 1:15:00far how close was the closest you were ever to him? How far were
- 1:15:04you from him? And he said, well, from that car lot across
- 1:15:09the street there. Well, of course, if he had been at a
- 1:15:13car lot across the street, it would be difficult to follow him on the
- 1:15:16sidewalk. It would be quite difficult. So I talked to him for just
- 1:15:20a short time, and I didn't bother with him anymore. I already had
- 1:15:25some history on him because the other bureau, the forgery bureau, had been
- 1:15:29briefing and handling him, and they had already told me a lot about him.
- 1:15:33They discounted anything that he said. Did you find out who shot him
- 1:15:38and why he was shot? The man on the car light? Yeah,
- 1:15:43well they think it might have been over a car deal gone bad, but
- 1:15:45they're not positive, and I don't know that he will ever tell them the
- 1:15:49truth. Have you ever discovered any connection between the shooting of Warren Reynolds and
- 1:15:55the killing of the president. Never the assassination of the president, none at
- 1:15:59all. The killing of Tippet, No, we found nothing. We checked
- 1:16:04everything. Any connection between Oswald and Warren Reynolds, or Ruby and Warren Reynolds,
- 1:16:11we found no connection. We had all kinds of rumors, of course,
- 1:16:15that they were connected, or we didn't find anything. Did you investigate
- 1:16:18it, Yes, sir, I had some officers investigated, and the forgery
- 1:16:23Bureau investigated him because they were already working on the shooting case. They handled
- 1:16:28all the shootings where people were not killed. See, then it wouldn't be
- 1:16:31a homicide. I see what is You're coming, mister Reynolds upon Captain Fritz's
- 1:16:39judgment on you. I believe Captain Fritz is a probably a very fine police
- 1:16:45officer. I don't believe he's a real good doctor. My physician is doctor
- 1:16:53Tom Nash said. There is definitely no brain damage, and I'm just as
- 1:16:57normal as I've always been. The Commission concluded on page six sixty three of
- 1:17:02its report that it was wild speculation for anyone to think that there might be
- 1:17:08a connection between the fact that you were shot in January and the fact that
- 1:17:12you observed the gun and sleeve from the scene of the Tippet shooting and positively
- 1:17:16identified him as Oswald. But after the shooting you weren't very sure. Well,
- 1:17:26sir, one can see why. So fascinating stuff, folks. Fascinating
- 1:17:36stuff about Daego and Warren Reynolds and the like, all kinds of crazy stuff
- 1:17:43going on with old uh Dago and a lot of these Dallas characters, and
- 1:17:50the Garrison investigation in New Orleans is always a colorful place to be. That's
- 1:17:58right Daygo for Daego, Hei Old Gardner and Johnny My, Warren Reynolds and
- 1:18:09Captain Wilfritz and Ken Elliott and Jim Garrison. This is big bad, bob
