- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest headline we have to talk about walking into this studio, Donovan Mitchell, signs a max extension to stay in Cleveland 4 years, $273 million.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: We got so many hypotheticals we're going to get into, but I got to ask initial thoughts on the extension.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_02]: I was very excited when I saw it.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, hey, he's took the hometown discount, right?
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: We gave Jose the same amount of flowers that we need to give down of a Mitchell despite how you feel, you know, behind the scenes we were talking.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I think it's great, honestly, as much this, you know,
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: even though I have some hard feelings towards Donovan Mitchell, it's nothing personal, it's just the expectation.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: But overall, you get the hometown discount.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: This lets any premiere free agent aka LeBron James know that we got our guy locked up.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: There's no more questions.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just take advantage of this window now and try to do something with the hometown, the hometown guy.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm so excited about this because Donovan Mitchell's a guy who, like, since the second he got to Cleveland and that marketing sex in a bunch of picks trade, you've always just heard about him wanting to be gone.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like him wanting to go to the nicks or what's next or when are they going to trade Donovan?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: And every single time Donovan without even speaking has shut it down and just made the decision to stay in Cleveland, it's really hard to come by a guy in the NBA who scores as well as Donovan score seemingly at will.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: the guy the millisecond he could in can other extension and Cleveland shows the sign his second extension to stay in this town, which I think should mean a lot to people who come from Cleveland that a guy's willing to be here and stay here and like say said he's taken last money to do it.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I say as you were doing off camera, you got to clock it for David.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: clock it for my man's clock it for my man's ironically enough I told you right when I walked into the studio you weren't in here when I said it I said I have a hot take right it's day one you just said the millisecond that Donna the Mitchell had the opportunity to sign the extension he did well ironically enough
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: There is a big concert tonight, right?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to Fandoil for getting your voice we take as you already know what time it is.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Usher, Chris Brown are going to be in town.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you know how these concert things go.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Morgan Wall and brought out Miles Garrett, you know, for the second day concert.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: There has been one guy that's just been in the city.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: so much as of late and he just so happens to be a free agent, you know, and I just can't help with think that you're going to be in Cleveland and Huntington Bank field.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: On the first day where this guy makes a known, I think LeBron James is going to be pulled out into the stands or, you know, onto the stage with Chris Brown and usher, and I think that's going to be the pre-party to him coming home to Cleveland.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: So we don't get the announcement on stages.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe we will.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's where I was kind of going out.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like we would make perfect sense.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: The stars would align where it's like down of emitual just signs, LeBron James is in with all of these people in Cleveland right now.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Let them know.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: We break into news right here.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: What other I mean Chris Brown already hyped up with that news?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna ten times the news even more.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: We know LeBron lives for that stuff.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he does.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think that'd be a very cool way to announce it.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: Part of me wonders, I mean, I guess if Cleveland has always been the plan, maybe he's known for the past week or so, but part of me still kind of thinks Rich Paul is sifting through all these offers and I also think we'll get into all the LeBron discussion here in a minute.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: It was pretty telling that you heard, I believe it was Rich Paul say it, but the consensus across his team, LeBron Rich Paul, he would just would have gone to the next if they didn't win championship.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: So, yes.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so that to me is like it's maybe it's not always been Cleveland, even though I do think he's going to come back to Cleveland, but I'm glad you brought up signing the extension right away for Donovan Mitchell.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's really telling the first moment that the calves were really able to get this lockdown moving forward, not waiting another year, waiting another season to make it happen.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: They signed down of a Mitchell to four years.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's also really important to note that Sean said, all parties have been in lockstep on the organization's future direction.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: Mitchell has been actively involved in conversations about improving the roster and has remained supportive of the front office throughout the off season.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: So whatever the calves are cooking, they have the full support of Donovan Mitchell and now Donovan Mitchell has the full support calves.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say also just to keep the Donton Mitchell parade fest alive after he sends his extension.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's so cool too.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like we talk about it enough.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think in Cleveland, but he was in the crowd at the boys and girls club when LeBron made the decision to leave Cleveland in the first place.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: So for someone who grew up as a Cavs fan like Don Vinciam come out and just lock in, hey, I want to be in Cleveland Ohio.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's so cool every single time.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: It'll never get old to see an athlete extend in Cleveland.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think I have a question for you guys because I feel like,
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: the goal is championship, right?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: We see what the Miami heat have done, you see what the sixers have done, and how teams aren't standing pat with their rosers, where it looks like as the Cleveland Rock, Cleveland Browns.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I am so grateful for football.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: The Cleveland Cavs are kind of doing what they've been known to do over the past few years and that's really just running it back now I know LeBron still looming over the head, but they've had opportunities.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: They were in the Yannis talks.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't go out and make any of these big name trades
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: if the cat if the calves ran it back with this roster and let's say they bring in maybe Jonathan comming a or one of our or a tomorrow deros in or whoever the case may be do you think that this team has enough to get over the hump to get to the championship because of that's what the goal is right the goal is championship so if you signed out of the Mitchell and you're just like okay we're just going to run everything back should we be expecting championship with this roster?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think the addition of another small forwarder or addition of another score is a pretty big variable.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I feel confident in the calves against most teams in the East assuming they're healthy and assuming guys like Evan Mobile can continue to take that step.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: You assume if Harden's gonna continue to be here that roster gels like Kobe Allman Dan Gilbert, everybody thought it would because the reality is they played together for what two and a half months after that trade.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: If that continues to go up and you get another
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: 15, 20 point games score or whatever, maybe yeah, I would feel confident.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they're better than the next in a seven game series.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's me, it's like the big thing where...
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: The next looks so much better than the Caves and really all but game one of that series.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, that's a huge gap to fill.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: I also think it's a pretty big gap to fill with filly now.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think filly and the next are the two best teams in the East right now.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little scary to think about them making that trade and adding that caliber a player.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then they're all of a sudden they're better than the Caves, but that's the reality of the East.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's an arms race over there too.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think I would feel super confident, but you know,
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: one game game seven this capture roster versus any but I think it could beat pretty much anybody in a game for sure seven games series becomes a different conversation though.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the it's the one caveat that I have we we we had in a little not argument but a little bitker behind the scenes with that which is something you know.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: We still clocking the whole over here.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still a donovan guy.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're a donovan guy.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: But I do have destructive criticisms of him and it's not like I was trying to explain to you how in this city It's either hell or it's really to high water.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're either overly high thing a guy or he is the worst thing that you've ever seen There's no middle ground.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: There's no constructive criticism and I think the criticism that I have for Donovan Mitchell is that
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: I use the example that he is an airbender and airbenders race got wiped out because they never wanted to tap into their fullest potential because they are a powerful element and they just knew that power and they didn't use it.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately, the fire nation came in and said, okay, you don't want use it.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to use ours and wipe that shit out, right.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking at it like don't have the Mitchell really is an airbender.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: We know he can take the the air out of your body.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: We know how dominant he can be put up.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: You don't put up 71 points if you're not that dude, but at the same time.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's not using his switch more than enough.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: You want to be a killer 10, 25% of the time, 30% of the time.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's not good enough.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: I need you to be a killer.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: If you're going to be a killer, 80, 90, 100% of the time, especially in today's NBA when all of these teams have athletic players, it's almost like, you know, how I end up, you have any given Sunday.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: These four games series, man, it's any given game with these teams because of how much talent there is.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're not going to be a killer, like we know you can be, that's where my fault comes in with Donovan Mitchell.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope that after losing in the Easter Conference finals last year, maybe it ignites something in him to where he's like, okay, no more being nice guy.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: No more just thinking that life is great.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Let me lock in a let's go win a championship.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm asking for Donovan.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's not hard.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not trying to
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: it is, I think it is hard and I also beg Jack, I know you'll run with this too.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think that criticism is fair and I think that comes from a valid place.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think he's been criticized too much?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's over-creditizing Cleveland on the other side.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I think it just comes in that
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that there is a level that Donton Mitchell is gatekeeping from us.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think you saw Donton Mitchell damn near die on the court for this team to even sniff five games in a series of ads right there, you said you don't think that there was something there.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: LeBron James, Yannis, KD, Steph.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: Dom is on that level.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Any of the, he's on that level, right?
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's not on that level, I don't agree with you.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't make you.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's not on that level.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think, I think I've ever understand that.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: So, but my point is though, and that's my point though.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: You just pay 200 is something million dollars.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to be that guy.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: If he's your number one, you cannot blow a 22 point lead and gain one of the Easter conference finals.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: No great player is allowing that to happen down of the Mitchell's took three shots in a span of a quarter and a half.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you just got paid for 280.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: You can't do that if you want to win a championship.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: What else you can do?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: You had to give me that extension.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I'm not.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're you're taking it the wrong way.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying the one we can't be going to fear radical that was never going to happen.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: The theoretical was you were up 22 points with seven minutes to go and you took three shots in a span of 16 minutes in actual NBA time.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot do that.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: Great players don't allow those leads to sleep when the pressure when the moment is too precious.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen it with the JR Smith that one outcome dictated the whole series
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: change the entire trajectory of this series.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: And that was at the head of your, it could have been stopped.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can blame Kenny Acasin.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can blame Evan Moby.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Your best player was on a Mitchell and he was a ghost when it mattered most.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's fine.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't change what's going on though at all.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like, you have to, like, it's, I understand, like, he might not hit that level.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: You want him to, like, you had no other choice, but to give him the money that he just, like, there's no, there's no way out of Donton, that you'll at this point in time.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you could, what, I mean, like, I don't know where you're going to make the Paul George trade for him.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what else could they have done?
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're, I'm just saying,
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: He might not be worth that money, but he had to get that money.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: You asked if he was over-criticized.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you where my critique lies.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: The critique lies that if you're gonna be considered a killer, if you're gonna be considered what people have been telling me he's a top seven player in the league.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: you need to be a top seven player in the league when it was saying he's a top seven player.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: Go look at my comment.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: I said top 12.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying that.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Go look at my comment.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: I said he was a top 12.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Some crackhead burners on Twitter.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: No one.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: There were multiple comments saying he's more than that.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: We're under criticism.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know where he's.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's 12 15 in that.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think if he's 12 to 15, like you're saying, why are we criticizing him for being what he is?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: because we want to win a championship.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: And you just gave you you can't put it all on it when you're paying your Bruno's expensive roster of all time.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: And you have three other f-ups who aren't doing anything either.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: You I mean, like, it's not it's not just on down to the Mitchell.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm no one saying it is.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you what I want to the next level.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: You want to talk it so what do you think down to the Mitchell is a cat player?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: What down to the Mitchell is is what he is?
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: We can't get any better.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think that is a valid is yes.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, I guess then, and for what he is, what are you going to criticize?
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I never want to want to want to championship then, and that's the problem.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's going to freaking happen, yeah.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think this contract is an investment into what the calves believe they can do with Donovan Mitchell as the best player.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like, even if LeBron comes, it's going to be for what?
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: A year, maybe two years, Donovan Mitchell's under contract.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think for five more now, it would be.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: But,
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're between a rock and a harplace with Donovan Mitchell.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you, Jack.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he is, well, I don't think he is right now on the level of, you know, the yolkages, the shades, those guys, can't he get there?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: They're paying him like they believe he can, however.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: what they believe may not be the truth.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I also think there's a world where, if Evan Mobile continues to elevate, you have, you know, when Jason Tatum and Jaylam Brown won the NBA finals, I think you'd be hard press to find guys that were like, yeah, Jason Tatum's a top five player in the NBA.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: Jaylam Brown's a top five player in the NBA, but that's two top 12-ish, top 10-ish guys who a couple of years ago, and they won it.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: What if Doddford Mitchell Elevates to be a top 10 guy?
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then Evan Mobile continues to improve, to be a top 10-ish guy.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like to me, that's where I think the calves are at.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're understanding,
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: We are not going to win, you know, with a Yokech, with a Shea, a Wemby.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: Donovan Mitchell's in-house, we can get ahead of this, we can extend him.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's a great player, a great score, and we can build off of that.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: We also have Evan Mobile in-house, so we can continue to develop, continue to put pieces around that we think can improve.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: The grass is not always greener on the other side too.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think you brought up a good point, Jack.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: We're like, you don't pay him, all right.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to leave or you're forced into a trade that you don't want to make kind of like the Celtics did with Jalen Brown and Paul George.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: But I also do think it's worth talking about the direction of the NBA salary cap.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: Because Donovan Mitchell is going to get paid a lot of money, 60 million with this next couple of years.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: At one point it gets up to 75 million.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: Essentially for those who didn't watch the Brad Stevens press conference, a lot of teams are starting to move towards not wanting to give two players on your roster, 35% plus or more of the salary cap and how that can be super detrimental and all this stuff.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: you extend even mobly down the line the cell to air sorry the calves are going to be the same position as the Celtics where thought of Mitchell's making x-mount and mobies making x-mount we got to trade one of these guys we got to get rid of one of them or the rest of the roster is going to be well that that's why that's why i think we're at two in terms of criticism zeta not to just bring it back to dawn to the material is criticism level but when it comes down to when you're looking two or three years down the road
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to be the dominant money it's beating up as much as it may be mobly making 61 million in a season like I think it might be you need mobly to do more I think they can't just be 18 and a guy for the rest of the list turn it it you know how I feel about moving I think Mobly could definitely be better, but I also think that mobly hasn't been put in the best position to be
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: what what he could be and and I go back to the same point that I make all the time is just you're you're really I feel like they've given him every chance in the world to be that's anything that no no but they've given him too much on his plate and I think if they just would a home dinner but he's making sixty million dollars too but is he making that right now?
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: No, he goes up to 60 in the 2000, 29, 30 season.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: I would say he averages about 53 million probably over the next five years though.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: Right, well, I mean, which he would be worth that money.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: I would see we're looking at it through this lens.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: Just goes back to the other point where I say it's doom or high.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's either all sunshine is rainbows or it's held in on earth.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: And we can't look at it like that.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: Eva Mobile has progressed every single year.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's been in the NBA.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: Fall.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: Can't check that away.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: This year this year.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, he had developed a three point shot in his shooting.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's I mean, I think it's three point was we're so last year though, wasn't it?
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think Evan Moby did grow this year.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the calves don't get out of the second round out the end of game five.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: I believe it was in Detroit.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, and like seven.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like like Evan Moby saved the calves behind in that series.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want his three point shooting drops.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: eight percent from last home and he also shot at how many more times i mean they they wanted him to do more is what i'm asking and then you want him to be the defensive player of the year and now you want him to be a ball handler like don't let him be a ball handler if you want to be a stretch four guy and play defense make him be that but you're asking him to be a center uh a deep up shot blocker a stretch you want him on the block you want him slashing you want him to do all of these things he when
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just be honest, he clearly can't live up to his highest potential.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he actually, he attempted the exact same amount of three pointers per game.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: He did last year and he dropped 8% from three.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: He scored last points per game and his rebounds per game dropped also.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: He had half an assist more per game.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: I can't I don't think you can claim last year is a better year.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think you were stagnated.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that was the biggest beef people have with Kenny is that he's stagnated this year.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have to his growth last year under Kenny.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's tough to really look at the Cavs roster and say, like, especially after how the Eastern Commerce finals went down and be like, yeah, this is a dramatic improvement.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: I honestly think as crazy as it sounds, everybody holistically in the Cavs world would have said, yeah, this is definitely an improvement.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: If Kenny Ackenson just didn't say anything in those post game
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: the next series like I actually I genuinely think everyone would look at this series season differently if it was a yeah next year of better teams there was accountability.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the optics of that and the huge balloon league.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, people just people will never get that out of their head.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: I just it was the it was the with all the allegations about soft and not being able to close.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like probably the worst lasting example you could ever leave in people's mouths on your organization.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just say the last thing on the FM OV thing just so I can give my boys some flowers.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: The things that I think he got better in is not going to show up in a stat sheet.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: So you look for every stat sheet, the number that you want to be like, oh, well, he didn't get better here in a dropped off here.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: There were certain things that when you watched Evan Mobley, let's just say two years ago, and I believe it was the, or a pick, pace or series.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe the Pacer series or that Orlando series, where you're just looking at Evo Mobile and you be like, man, you got to be tougher.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: You got to be a little bit better with your hands.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: You got to be a little bit more confident in a certain things.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: In this year, I saw a confident mobile.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: I saw a guy who looked like he worked on certain things that it's just like, that's not going to show up in a stat sheet.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's not always going to show up in the box score.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think Evan moldy is worth the money that he's getting.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just would like to see him craft or perfect a certain type of craft.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: Instead of trying to be a Swiss army knife and every aspect of the game.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: See, that's a 12% on free throws.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Just in the middle of your career.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's fine.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, there's a lot of things that are concerned.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: That comes with being getting stronger too.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: You a seven foot guy, you get put on some mass.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to shoot the ball a little bit.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: You get stronger and still hit a free throw, 61% of the time.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: I do think if the cabs go on the trajectory they're on right now, they need Evan mobile to truly be the Swiss army and I do think they need that and whether he can be or not will wait to see I mean we talk about it every off season I mean he's got he is taking a hugely regardless if you want to go year by year game by game all star break by all star whatever it may be.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's night and day from when he entered the NBA to right now and he is dramatically improved as a player.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: I do think the Cavs need him to take that next step if they want to win a championship with the roster they have now, but the big reality is LeBron James coming back and we need to talk about that because there is tons of smoke about LeBron coming back the Cavs are pretty much officially one of the six final teams he's looking at, but there is also a very interesting
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: thought I believe from our guy Scoop B about Kyrie Irving potentially getting traded in a salary match world.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: James Harden, Kyrie Irving, you swap them.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: And that lures LeBron back maybe it does.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't know for sure.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it was really interesting.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you guys saw the whiteboard thing with LeBron, but there was a note next that the calves had said, no Garland minus, if I'm not mistaken, I believe Rich Paul is Darious Garland's agent.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: He is, he's a clutch guy, traded them.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: But we're gonna run this.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, maybe that improves things.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like a knock on Harden with that whiteboard thing, but, you know, LeBron has a relationship with Kyrie.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: We don't know how that relationship is.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he does with Harden, could you guys see that potentially happening?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: I know you talked about it about like two months ago, maybe I was going to say, I just want to be the first one to say, I was the first one to pull that out the bag with the suggestion saying, a reunion, it makes so much sense on so many levels, because
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: Kyrie, you know what you can get, like, if he just stays healthy, like, play 40 games if you need to, brother.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: Just, because we don't, we know we know if anything with the second you pick up a basketball, you're going to be, you won't pick right where you left off that and that's what matters most.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if you can pair him, it would be interesting.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: You have to probably get rid of hard and right.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it would be a salary match trade that that's so here's where it here's why my tin foil cap theory on it Yeah, so obviously rich Paul knows that Lebron is heavily considering going to Cleveland in some way shape or form I think I think no one really knows if we're first or six than the rankings, but he's considering it Why would you openly put out that whiteboard that you know everyone the world is gonna see
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: You know Garland's not in Cleveland.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know he's not they're not going to trade for Darious Garland back like you like why would you openly take a shot at our point guard who is currently here who is waiting and to the client is player option for you to come back here unless they're trying to give it like what if it's just like a go trade heart and you know what would be
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because then you, if they didn't, it would be LeBron versus Harden, the whole entire year in the media.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, LeBron even want Harden here in the first place.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: We all saw Kyrie's name on Garland's name on the whiteboard.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: What if it's like, uh, here's your Nudge Nudge, go trade Harden?
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it could be, I don't, there was nothing on the internet that made any of us think that Harden took it as a shot.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, I do think it's a very logical guest to say LeBron if there's a garland with a mine or no garland with a minus next to the team LeBron probably would have rather have Darrys Garland team than James Harden.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: Is it a nudge to get rid of Harden you're not going to get garland back for sure?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I don't know I think it becomes an issue where LeBron comes to Cleveland and you have three ball dominant guys in James Harden Donovan Mitchell and LeBron James, and you know if you're gonna keep giving them an Evan Moly those opportunities Evan Moly as a four to that one two three punch
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: there's just there's too many cooks in the kitchen in terms of literally handling the ball and I think LeBron would want you know the number two score next to him kind of like he had with Kyrie kind of like he had with Dwayne Wade he got it with Luca Donchich but I also think got to a point last year where Luca was the number one in LeBron was the number two to me I think a perfect world for LeBron is LeBron, Donovan Mitchell and Supporting Cast
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it's super crazy to think they move off of James Harden.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Parsley has a result of the whiteboard, but just partially has a result of LeBron's thinking.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was going to ask though you have to change your entire offense philosophy, because the the calf, the Browns, G's, the calves, they really want to be an ISO team.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's what they love to do, right?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm correct to say that ISO is their preferred style of that.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: It was at the end of last year, I think largely because of hardened and the impact he had in the pick and roll.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was a big part of it, but yeah, I mean with Garland, it wasn't wildly different.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because if you bring LeBron James in, ISO basketball is not going to work.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: LeBron, when LeBron's on the basketball court, he is at the best, obviously with the basketball in his hands, but when guys are moving and there's energy behind that ball, LeBron elevates everyone else's game by two at that point.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: And if LeBron's just standing there, that means he's going to stand there on getting back on defense, like everything changes.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: As much as I think that it could work because LeBron is never really, I mean, who was LeBron's best point guard that he's ever had to play with?
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: Cairo James, Cairo is there.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: James Harder would probably be right there, if not, you know?
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: And then right now though, like...
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: But I would take Luke over hard right now, obviously.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: I have an assignment, Kyrie over hard now.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: Trying to think that there really was anybody.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: I can't really think about it.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of being able to create, James Harden and Average is 10 to 6, that's not by luck with you.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Then in terms of Evan Mowbley, you've seen him win with Chris Bosch, you've seen him win with the Kevin Mow.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: Donovan Mitchell, you've seen them win with the Wayne Wade, you've seen them win with, uh, I mean, who would be the shooting guard in, uh, the L.A. team.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: Austin Reeves Austin Reeves.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: So like, these are all, like, similar.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with you.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: He says, I really want to meet.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: So it hardened the odd man out.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: Hard man is the odd man out.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the only thing that I'm looking at, like, it could make sense.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: So do you guys think with everyone, okay, losing James hard and if it make it LeBron?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think every person in Cleveland, you honestly says yes.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: That was a dumb question.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: No, not a dumb question.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's a fair question.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: This time be a really stupid question.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: But let me put it out in the air for you guys.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think this was always like the five years ago when people would talk about like LeBron coming back at the tail end of his career.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because we talk about too many ball handlers.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like say there's a world where they don't want to move off hard in a road ever and all those guys And all three of them Harden Don and LeBron end up staying in Cleveland.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying he placed ten minutes in I I'm he still plays his 30 or whatever Do you think there's any world where the LeBron would ever start off the bench?
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like this idea better the one that I shot you off the air if they could bring in There's one guy then and the example that I give if there was a light beam death on earth You had to pick up equal dollar There's one guy that needs to go the equal dollar out and he just got cut and he's your guy, right?
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: You told me that he's your guy if the calves could secure tomorrow derrosing and let this man be a six man
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: everybody forget there's a lot of young guys in this in this world now they forget that Andre Gaudala was a damn superstar and and Philly during that time and he transitioned to a six man once he came over to the to the go to state warriors.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: If he could do that
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: If tomorrow the rosé would be content coming off the bench, you can, you can, you can, you can, you can, my as well just start the ceremony.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: Get the parade things lined up early because the casual win a championship.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: LeBron, you can even keep harin at that point.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: Just have tomorrow the rosé come off the bench and we're just running back the 2016 NBA East all start to run it.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's still dominating 10 years later.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of 2016, I do kind of think it begs to ask the question, is there a world, let's say the calves do sign to marter rows and he's your score off the bench, whether it's a salary dump with heart and something with heart and you just straight up move.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'll pardon it's not a train for kind of where you get off them.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: And one of its Mitchell Sam Merrill at the two, LeBron, Mobile Allen, and then you have Doros and Struce whoever may be off the bench.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of liked that, I really do, and it's mimicking the 2016 calves team, but,
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if they did end up getting Kyrie would be I know you want to bring in an actual like real backup center to help our CB in that group.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: But they what they would do that is they would bring in K love on the minimum and bring in the.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: That could have been pretty cool.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think you were with Donovan in addition.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: Could you imagine that they still would need a they still think that they would need a unless they're going to let Thomas Brian play more.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: If they let Thomas break coming into the physical presence, which I don't know if that's really his game, I still think that you need, if you're, especially if you're running Allen back, I'm not a fit.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_00]: I like Allen, and I like mobile, but I don't like the DNA of what it presents in terms of.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: The similar builds, not similar play styles because obviously Evan Moby can do more, but like two scrawny guys as my big man, I need one big physical presence on and at least we're going to go to break him one second, but I want to pose you guys a question before we do let's set a date at July 20th LeBron decision before after July 20th LeBron is going to announce it approximately 11 hours when they bring him out at the Chris Brown Council.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: I, it's going to happen before July 20th, and it will happen as soon as big play Cleveland live rap.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: Those are those are the two guaranteed.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say, down like Kennedy, I'm with you right right when the show gets out.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go after July 20th though.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think this thing drags out for a little bit.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think everybody's expecting it right now.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to drag out.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: But he's also, I don't think he's ever signed that late in his career before.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a big mid July guy.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's also, you know, taking large contracts else.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: But this is this to me feels like a very different signing, a very, very different signing.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe, you know, see what see what other moves are out there.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: See what somebody is like.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to want throughout the first pitch when the twins come to town right after the All-Star Break, though.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they do, we're gonna take a break we right back on the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back into the Big Play Cleveland show, Max Loeb, Chef Zay, Jack O'Rourke, we welcome on Phil Taylor to talk a little bit more browns.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: It wouldn't be early July, not mid July yet, but early July, if we didn't talk about the browns quarterback situation, race, and crazy hypothetical.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_02]: So let's do it, let's start with Shidorah Sanders.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: I wanna read you guys an excerpt from NFL draft analyst, Nick Bumgardner of the Athletic.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Let me know if you think this is a fair evaluation.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I'm gonna read this to you.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: Nick Bumgarner said, when I see Shudor Sanders, the quarterback, I see Andy Dalton or Teddy Bridgewater.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's not necessarily a two-year starter in today's NFL, but he does look like a very capable thrower who, if his grasp of NFL offenses and defensive speed continues to improve, can be a reliable backup for a long time.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: He projects as the type of backup who can hold the fort for a few weeks if a starter gets hurt.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: Fair evaluation or no?
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's all so I just want to say right off the bat you want to talk about a backup regardless if you think should or Sanders So back and we're not any Dalton was not a backup any Dalton was a good police good story back in Teddy Bridgewater once in games, too So like player comps.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not there listen you know who I think he is
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Darnl.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: Sam Darnl was this highly regarded route coming out, right?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: And all of a sudden, he was supposed to be the number one guy going.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: And next thing, you know, he dry.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he didn't drop to the fifth round, but Baker Mayfield got picked before him.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: I believe Josh Rosen went before him.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: Did he go before him as well?
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: No, not before him.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: Rosen was 10.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: So who was, it was, wasn't a two quarterbacks before him, either way, the point is a highly resorted recruit, right?
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: That kind of fell back on the draft board a little bit.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: Then have the initial success like people wanted.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Only different sisters, Doris Anderson has been cut and gone to multiple teams.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: But that's the trajectory that they're looking at.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's not good enough to be in a league.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's a, he's a, he's a bust.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: Look at his stats.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's the worst you've ever seen.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he's ranked 33 in a league right now for an audible mention.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like, everybody's already right and off this guy
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: great qualities of a quote, not just like quarterback, but a franchise quarterback.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: And that goes to the leadership.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he's made some big time throws.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: I've been a bronze fan for 30 plus years.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: You've been on the sideline.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: I can't think of many times where I've looked up and saw my best player on the field go, oh my god, he just made that throw like, so I think this is a dumb ass comparison number one.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I think.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's the court of public opinion, man, and that court is starting to take over because everything is about what the public thinks and that's so much was really going on, you know, saying in the locker room.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_03]: And guys, and it's probably somebody that haven't played sports who made a comment like that.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_03]: And it was a, it was a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Bob.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, leave it at that.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, he hasn't even shown enough, you know, saying to Yeah, like, I'm on man.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_03]: I just want to talk to talk.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree that people do just want to talk.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: I also do think the other end of the spectrum where people are ready to crown should or Sanders the franchise quarterback is also just a little too much.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I'm not like I franchise it.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: He will be I think the potential's there.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: The flashes and the fun stuff is there like the the big throws down the field the long passes which like You're right like when have we seen that really since even since like big so But here's what I'll go you want to go a little bit deeper though We've watched countless quarterbacks.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: I've Cody Kessler to Sean Kaiser Charlie Fry I'm trying to think of some of Jeff Garcia.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going way deep back, but like
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: How many of those guys have been put in situations like Shador has been put in, right?
- 33:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to go to the end of the season where he had two games where he showed elite traits.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, quarterbacks don't just come back from 14 down with seven minutes to go in a game.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: They don't do it.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, right?
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we can all agree on that.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: And they'll be able to, they say, well, the defense.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but go watch the plays and look who led those drives, look who converted on multiple third downs on those drives and look who ran in the touchdowns on those drives like Shador Sanders did that against the the Buffalo Bills and he did it against the Tennessee title.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: So he gave you two instances where he could show you that it's fourth quarter clock needs to slow down a little bit because we need to not just score, but we need to get this next first down and that is something that a bum guy who's not meant to be in the league
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: fifth round guy, those guys just aren't doing that.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I'm with you.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: And there's another question I want to ask you, like, if Shidorah Sanders became Andy Dalton, if he became Teddy Bridgewater, how could you look at that fifth round pick or fifth round selection use on Shidorah Sanders and be like, how is that a disappointment or a bust?
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that would be a great pick, right?
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little too early to just make hard comparisons or hard lines with any quarterback who's played a games not just any quarterback who's played a games like if you want to go up further to this comparison if Shador Sanders was Andy Dalton and
- 34:34[SPEAKER_00]: that will those first what five years of his career or Teddy Bridgewater and that one stretch where was it his rookie year was it a second year where he was don't think before he broke his leg yeah I don't think it was a little older when that happened and it was like four or five I mean he was a solid quarterback if you got that should or what the defense that we I don't care what people were not falling off the cliff we're not going to be worse than fifth, 17 we're not going to be worse to 17 than defense this year
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: in playoff contentions every single year like I don't understand what that comparison is not the mention we had probably the worse off as a line in the list and he was still was able to perform at the way he was able to perform it so I mean okay I said it was a dumbass comparison but now that I'm looking at it like if we got that this year we're in the playoffs
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I was going to say.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: If you got, you know, middle of his tenure, Cincinnati, Andy Dolton to play quarterback for the Browns in 2025, I mean, it's a significantly better team.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hell, even if you got that week, what week was that when the rocket rifle through four touchdowns with the Panthers, that was pretty serious.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was pretty serious.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was really pretty serious.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you get that any going too.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: a wager to yeah no i that and even teddy bridge water like we've we've sat here all spring and we're like all the browns need is a game manager take care of the football do this and i i think teddy bridge water should or centers play styles are very different but if you had you know of the quarterback of that caliber again i think it's a completely different team i feel like we've been saying that for the past couple years with the browns defense and the offensive line last year was really bad but prior to that and offensive one you know had been solid
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: at times.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, if that's his floor three time pro bowler, long current, what?
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: Teddy Bridger, he's already got one of them.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's already got one of them.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: He took the word right out of my mouth, Jack.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: So like, I mean, if that's his floor as long as his defense stays where it's at, I mean, we're working Pete in every single year at that point.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I'm telling people.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, come on, you're making a, you're talking about a pro bowler now.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's talking about a pro bowler.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: He does, it does seem a little like,
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: and he was like, no, it's not funny or like, it would be nice, that's why I think Victor Wemben Yama is so good for the NBA, because he takes those things to like, I believe it was the All-Star game, dual was he like, no, we're trying to win this thing, like, if
- 36:52[SPEAKER_00]: someone needs to come in and take a stance, but now everybody's worried about the money and money gets involved.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: The NFL needs a pure competitor.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: Someone that's going to be like, nah, we ain't doing this soft stuff.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to make this stay in competitive, because that will bring the best out of the best that are there.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's also just hard in a flag football setting.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're not really... Well, they know what I would have proposed.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_03]: If the top guys don't want to play it, don't let them play it.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, give me two to three practice squad guys from each team.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, let's get their names out.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be a good one.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be a good one.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll be a good one.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be a good one.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: That would be awesome.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's also, I think it's also worth noting in the breadth of the Shidorah Sanders' Pro World Quarterback.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: The Brown said two Pro World Quarterbacks on the roster last year.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: One point, Joe Flock, it was a pro World Tuesday.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: I might have had.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: Was it the shot, ever?
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Ever, I think so.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're hardly well.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: You will.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: You might have four pro ball quarterbacks.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: I guess he's even used to it.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, I think comparisons like that with Shidorah Sanders right now.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: Good or bad, regardless of where you're drawn, the hard line is just way too early.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_02]: Way too early.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to ask you guys real quick, just a general NFL question and Zay, you kind of sparked this in my head when you brought up the same download comparison for Shidorah.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not even saying in related to, related to Shidorah,
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: exactly even.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys think that we're going to see a lot of retread quarterback who might not even deserve a chance over the next couple of years just off of Sam Darrell going out and like could that almost set football back a little bit in way because like so guys.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: I hope so.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_03]: We think there will be a good guy to a change.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: A real chance.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_03]: Because you never know like Sam I swear they're going to make a movie about him because we wrote him off.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we wrote them off.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_03]: We, we thought he had no shot and then all it takes is a change of scenery.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_03]: He looked at Baker after he left.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_03]: Look at Jean.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it sounds like.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to leave 11 years.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_03]: All it takes is a change of scenery for some people in a different offense, different coach, different scheme.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_03]: That's all it's about man.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_03]: If you're in the right scheme and you're comfortable, you're going to play way better than how you will play if you're not comfortable with the coach's game.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's also media.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like or just media outlets in general have kind of diminished.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: part of the beauty of what football was because back in the day, it was never on orthodox to draft a guy top three, let them sit, literally let that quarterback sit for two years minimum, like you're not even thinking about touching the field that first year.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_00]: And now all of a sudden you get drafted, no, you gotta be that guy in the first three games, or we buy to start writing you off instantly.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then now it's just changing everything to you guys.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_00]: It hurts guys careers and if you're not built for that type of pressure and you're not built for that moment there will be guys that rise to that occasion.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Williams, I think has done a fantastic job at rising in that occasion.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jordan love is the last breed or the last quarterback you could look at it to be like, what do you say a year?
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: A whole full year or two more.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: And look at the benefits that it had for like, if the league could just
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: block out all of the noise, which I know it's hard because these these rookies are the ones helping generate a lot of dollars, but if they could block out the noise and go back to what they used to do and let these players actually develop, you wouldn't have these sand Arnold cases, you wouldn't have the genosmith cases or the Baker Mayfield cases, because you would actually get four or five years worth of actual tape with one team, one system to see if this guy's legitimately that guy or not.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: The Raiders are doing it now with Fernando Mendoza, which is great to see.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: The Titans last year didn't really do it with Cam Ward.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I tried to say it's too early to say, oh, it's from careers run.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he was pretty good last year too.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_02]: It also totes a really thin line though, where the teams that want to compete and want to lean into their Super Bowl window are teams that have really good quarterbacks on rookie deals like the Patriots last year with Drake.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: Man, this year with the Russell Wilson with the, he was on his rookie contract when they won the Super Bowl.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: I believe Perti was to and the Niners made it.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously, you need the homes was.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_02]: You need them at home, the islands, those are not found.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: Not Josh Allen was your boy.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: You need them at home, you need the jail in Hertz.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, sorry Bill's man's.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_02]: But you need those guys to win a Super Bowl, I think.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: You asked a great question, Jack.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_02]: We sat here all off season and talked about one of those retread guys coming to Cleveland.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's Mac Jones.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at Mac Jones next to your I believe he's a free agent.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: There were some trade rumors thrown around this offseason.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: The nine are kind of shut it down, but a guy who was good in New England is rookie year and then kind of took a step back, wasn't his grade, and then obviously they move off of him, they get Drake May, and he's going to this Kyle Shanahan school of football, which Sam Donald did for a year too, and he's been in that now will be a second year when he was asked to play last year, it's actually pretty good, right?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think Mac Jones is a guy who
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: will absolutely garnered interest next year as a starting quarterback, not sure it's in Cleveland, but it could be a possibility.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: You never know that I think the brown this is the this is the last I don't want to say circus because Cleveland we we already know the circus is in town 247 here.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: Something's going on interesting that you can come find here.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right?
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: But I think this is the last year we're going to look at this quarterback room and be like, okay, what the hell are we doing?
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: Because we already know next year, next year they are going to get their guy, whether they hit on Shidorah Sanders this year to know that he's the guy moving forward or they're going to be like, yeah, we're going to get arch or we're going to get Dante more, or whoever the quarterback is probably going to be archman.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be the next, actually, I kept saying, uh, Brooke Park was going to be the next time he steps up to the plate.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: If we
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jimmy has them is subbing his self into the game and erasing the day that blood Play and say no, we're going to get Archmany that's when he's gonna put his hand back in the cookie jar Yeah, I think he's the guy.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes, I thought and I don't know like me is he the guy that's Jimmy's guy
- 42:40[SPEAKER_03]: Are you are you going off of his name or are you actually going off of?
- 42:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what Jimmy's going off of.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: I know that Jimmy.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jimmy's doing both.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jimmy's doing both for sure.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think he also was looking at his like a manning and cleaver with this new dome.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we going.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_00]: I used this baby up as much as we can and and juice it for a year.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, we come back to culture.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I believe there was at one point there were rumors when they were looking for a GM.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_00]: Peyton Manning was in that conversation and they were, there were rumors that almost like when a Kevastafansky was at the Chipotle or Kurt Cousin's at Chipotle, there were rumors that I believe Peyton Manning was looking at houses and Cleveland during that time when they were looking for GMs.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not a bad idea.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's honestly not a bad take.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think you'll be cool.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think Peyton likes when he's got going on with the, if you do a magic, he'll be kind of like a reaction.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think he would be beneficial.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, for sure.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: How could you not want Peyton Manning?
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: I also think a huge reason the Browns quarterback room is going to get a lot more clarity next year is because unless something dramatic changes this year to Sean Watson will be off the roster.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you guys saw, but the Browns got about $80 million in capital, which is crazy.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is, you know, the first time we're hearing insurance, right?
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, through injury insurance.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_02]: And it was divided up over a couple of years, I believe.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what exactly that number is.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it's like, and I think that was the, okay.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, according to a new report, the Browns reportedly received significant salary capital leave through an insurance policy tied to Watson's injuries.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: NFLPA records reportedly show more than $88 million in Capcredits tied to insurance reimbursements from his shoulder.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_02]: which would have been by 2023 right and then Achilles in 2024 through salary cap experts have debated how those figures have been interpreted I don't really know how works in the grand scheme of things but I mean if you subtract the 88 from what the 230 it's 140 it's like yeah you get something back
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's still pretty bad swinging a miss like Jimmy has them said Does it soften the blow though does it soften the blow oh it definitely it for the for the for the for the small I'd looking fan oh this is everything they wanted to see yeah when I mean like this is as huge as it could get you Can tell me you could all his money back down a lot but like I think when it's all said and done
- 45:01[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all got a really start looking at the bigger, like all this money talk, all you're dealing with billionaires.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: If you think that they signed these contracts, planning to get fleece, no, there is language in these contracts, they will find a way to make it to where they went in the end always.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're telling Jimmy Haslam six years later and said, hey, look, you went and got a top three quarterback.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't work.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_00]: I guarantee and on top of that, you got 88 million back in the process when when you originally thought that you were going to pay 230 I with 1000% certainly would be like he would sign up for that every single time.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: No matter what the outcome was no matter how we played out because He can show like the Brown's gonna top three quarterback.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was massive.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_00]: So Don't believe all it is money is literally a myth in the NFL.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: Find a way to avoid the coming.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: No matter what they do.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's why I think, and we'll debate this here in a second, this is a much bigger football mistake than it is a financial mistake.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's off the field issues, but if you separate it strictly football or financial one of the two, I mean trading for a top five-ish quarterback at the time and then him just almost forgetting how to play football for literally, it's like, that's a pretty bad mistake.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think,
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: this cushions the blow like this much like a tiny bit there is no getting back the past years of pain the pitch I wasn't in the picks yeah but I mean I would this I always said I would do that trade 10 times out of 10 every single time I'm never going back on it was always the right move the execution was just very very poor.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: that was the right move.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a Browns fan, you need to know that was the right move.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: You are never in the conversation number one in the draft.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: You always think you're getting the guy, but you bona fide yourself and securing it.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: That never happens in our life.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a great move till it wasn't.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's exactly.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, fair.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_02]: I do think a lot of people will look at it and it hurts even more.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's Baker.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you lose Baker in that.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, our guy.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a lot of
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: aspects of the trade that make it hurt way more baker the Texans have overhauled their teen who has a lot of those picks and just the fact that the Browns haven't been able to nail down a solid quarterback outside of Watson because you know as much as the Browns wanted to be Watson he missed I believe more than a full season's worth of games with these injuries and you know they haven't been able to figure it out whether it's a rookie whether it's Joe Flacco whether it's Kenny Pilly whoever may be that also does not help him which is why like
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: Cool, the Browns got insurance credits and it helps the cap like you said the cap to an extent I'm with you I don't think it's real like void years or like some crazy crazy Explanation of Pushing money down in the future where cap again doesn't really exist.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: To me it's not
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's really soft in a blow.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like, I guess, like, if you get hit by a train from both sides, like that, yeah.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_03]: Well, let's just take people on the train, the train still hits you, but it's not.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a train still hits you either way, yeah.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not a ton.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's not good out of it.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: But this is this is funny because this is leading up for the most Cleveland Brown scenario to ever happen.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: And we've posed this question.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, countless times, right?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now, let's just say, does this change your mind?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: If the Sean Watson comes out, it looks good, right knows where I'll go with this.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_00]: If he comes out, it looks good, and you find a playoff bit, and at the end of the year, you go.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, he's gonna, he's two years, 30 million, 35 million, like, would you then be, would you, if he came on and showed you enough, if you take it to the plate, let's just say, let's just say first round exit to keep it there.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_00]: You go 10 and 6, you win the division, your first round exit with the Sean Watson playing every single game.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_00]: are you giving him another extension knowing that you got eighty eight million dollars back so you could kind of just look at it and be like, you know what, one year, you know what I mean, you get not all of it obviously, but I'm sure you give him something, would you do it in that scenario?
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, A of all, there's a one percent chance that happened with quite literally a one percent chance that happened.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: We're playing the hypothetical on the one percent chance.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he would come back to Cleveland.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he likes this more than death than you go.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, this is for somebody else.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think even if he got to the playoffs, I think he is going to the... Why would he want to?
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: Why would he want to?
- 49:24[SPEAKER_03]: After all this.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, why would he?
- 49:26[SPEAKER_03]: People talk about him here.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: Why would you still want to be here?
- 49:29[SPEAKER_00]: Because when you're a professional athlete, you know that sure the fans mean a lot, but if I'm a player and I know that, I still had a owner, I still had a team, and I still had an organization who was willing to put everything into me and give me everything I need and not just once, not just twice, not just three times, but four times.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: You got the shoulder injury, you got the double Achilles injury, and maybe it's the three times, but this is the four times he's getting his chance.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_00]: The organization could have bailed on him.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_00]: They could have Russell Wilson them.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_00]: They could have gotten rid of him.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, am I going to get treated better by an organization?
- 50:04[SPEAKER_03]: Not the fans, but they could get rid of him, though, because they are.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_00]: They couldn't know what you got into.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, I still was at, I mean, I whether that's a business decision or not.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't care about that, you're not coming to his wedding.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like that, you know what I mean?
- 50:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like those, those are, it's a small thing, but in the words in the draft NFL day, who came to the birthday party, you know what I mean?
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: you look at the front of human being standpoint if I looked at an owner who who was still by my side, through after all the allegations, through after all of the hardache, after all of the fans blowing me out, still like, you know what, we still are going to let you come out here and get a chance.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to look at that and be like, you know what, I can respect you as an owner and as an organization, I'm coming back.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: But what he's going to do though in reality, he's going to think, OK, I could win a Super Bowl and 30% of this fan base would still hate my guts.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go to Glendale, Arizona and still get in the beautiful weather and dive into their treasure chest of cap space.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: go fraud.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_01]: So you just move on to a next town in fraud somehow.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: He can go anywhere else.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: He is still going to be hated just as much where you.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: I was in Jacksonville and I couldn't believe the things that I was here in Chris out of those fans mouth.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they were coming down from the top all the way to the bottom with signs giving the most.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, damn this.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: You say all the words that you could say to this dude.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: So it don't matter if you're in Cleveland, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Liz Ward, Louisiana, Louisiana, he going to hate it.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you can do it somewhere warm.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I think.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's fair.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think the only way to Sean Watson comes.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: The Browns.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: off for something to do Sean Watson is if he literally plays that NMBP level and they get in the playoffs even if it's a first run exit like he's got to play a NMBP level.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like it's got to be used into Sean Watson for the Browns.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't think that's crazy Yeah, exactly.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we do.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_00]: If he gives you Aaron Rogers last year season 28 touchdowns six interceptions ten and six under this first flight to Glendale.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: 40.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what have you get you 35?
- 51:57[SPEAKER_00]: 40 terms three picks.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, that's like yeah, he got to be Like 99 overall yeah
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: That boy got that Houston card and a man all the way back on the big Cleveland show.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back into the big play Cleveland show presented by Fandle.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: We got Phil Taylor here talking a little browns fill.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_02]: We want to ask you a couple questions from a player's perspective.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a very fresh perspective not a lot of people get.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I want to ask you really stability chaos to ends of the spectrum.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: You experienced three head coaches across four seasons.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious how did that turn over impact your offseason routine and then the team's overall production?
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, meaning being a defensive tackle, um, it was different because, you know, three coaches that mean three new playbooks.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_03]: But when it comes to defense and being a D-line, it's a bunch of lines and all the things changes is really the terminology.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_03]: We still doing the same things different terminology, but you still got to learn it.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean,
- 53:04[SPEAKER_03]: My first year was a little tougher because we had to lock out, and we couldn't get a playbook right away.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_03]: So basically, they threw us on the fire, or come training camp, and you had to figure it out.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it solves with Dick Jerome of two years.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_03]: Then the next year, we had,
- 53:21[SPEAKER_03]: Ray Horton and Mike Patton and that year Ray Horton I loved his defense.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_03]: He made it simple, you know, wasn't too hard to study.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_03]: You just had to, you know, know where to be, but he was different.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: We had to know what the linebackers were doing.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_03]: We had to know what the DBs were doing because you never know.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: He said, I might drop you.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_03]: You want to get in this episode?
- 53:43[SPEAKER_03]: So know what you're doing.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 53:52[SPEAKER_03]: Mike Patton and O'Neill, and the same thing, same lines, different terminology.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: I think it would be harder for all friends to guys, because that playbook is a lot bigger.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_03]: And a lot more terminology is in different play calls and things like that.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_03]: But it means it's rough, you know, because each year, you get comfortable with a coach, a D-line coach, and then, you know, the next year you got it, somebody else, you know, and they might teach things a lot differently, and they run practices differently.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean,
- 54:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's tough, you know, I would have loved to be on a team that, you know, you had the same coaches for, you know, the same time, but it's the nature of this beast, you know, so just like I've seen a bunch of different players in and out of the doors, we've seen coaches in and out of the doors.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: It seems to be a thing for even Browns.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: Hell, unfortunately.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to ask you, so for the common folk like me out there, we might not know how to watch a defensive tackle in game and see like what's what's the good going on.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not like you can go look at the sacs at the end of the year and be like, oh, this guy had a good year at detackle.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: What do you, what should Browns think is look for out of Mason Graham in year two, like in his development?
- 55:05[SPEAKER_03]: the nastiness.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like him, you know, firing off the ball and be like, oh man, he's all over the ball.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's wherever the ball is, he's near it.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 55:15[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, being that guy on a D line to where, if you look down that line and that ball is snap and two seconds later,
- 55:24[SPEAKER_03]: Who's on the other side?
- 55:25[SPEAKER_03]: You know, who's who's giving ground?
- 55:27[SPEAKER_03]: Who's gaining ground?
- 55:28[SPEAKER_03]: And if he's that one that's always in the opposing teams backfield and disrupting plays, he's going to be great.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_03]: Now I feel like with with which coach Caesar and how he's got got the boys rolling, I think Mason and have a good year this year.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_00]: So you and Jabal back in the day where we're all rookie selections and Jabal I remember a lot of I remember hearing it he had a stretch I believe it was during like that New England time to where we we had high expectations for y'all and We started to realize the what building blocks and foundational pieces look like obviously now you've got Graham and you've got questions your
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: What does that feel like in the locker room when the young guys are truly the building blocks in the foundational pieces?
- 56:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's awesome because, you know, being an OG in the locker room and, you know, trying to teach guys the, you know, how to be a pro and how to do things right and you got these, you know, you get a couple of rookies that come in and, you know, and they get it right away, you know, some rookies that come in, you know, they, it's still kids, you know, and you got your rookies that come in and they get it right away, you know, you know, they're going to really help out.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_03]: That's going to be awesome.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_03]: me and Jibal came in and uh... rub was already that uh... big the top of rub was already a vet and we had the quail uh... linebackers those two years on the dicks your arm i think we have we had top ten the top fifteen defense both years the quail had over a hundred times every no
- 57:03[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we kept them, we kept them, uh, the mgaards and tackles off of the quail, and he was eating.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_03]: That was amazing.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_00]: Man, what?
- 57:09[SPEAKER_00]: He was like 110 tackles every single year.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's funny.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_00]: You say that because the browse, I mean, when you look back at certain little areas of the Brown, they've always had like, man, if this guy would have played in this era, this guy would have played in this era, for the first time, it feels like they got a bunch of guys that are, uh,
- 57:27[SPEAKER_00]: fit for each other.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like even when you lost Miles Garrett, even losing Devon Bush, which I think Devon Bush, losing Devon Bush is such a big hole that no one's really talking about this year.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_00]: But then you replace him with Jared verse and you replace Bush with Quincy Williams.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: And all of the clips that we've seen with Quincy Williams and Carson Swester, it looks like he unlocked a different beast in Carson.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_00]: And if Carson's going to be able to play freely like like he already was
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: It got me going because now it's like, you watch all these other great teams grow with their young talent, Carson, Graham, Delpit, Emmanuel McNeill, Alex Wright, Isaiah McGuire, all of our studs are under 25 years old, 26 years old.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good problem now.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_02]: What one piece of advice you would give to this incoming rookie class, knowing that there are potentially a lot of really good players coming in.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_03]: I would just say, you know, keep your head down and control what you can control.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and I try to be the best teammate you can be and just give effort.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's tough.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_03]: You know, some rookies might not play as much as they want to.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm a plan a little bit more than they should.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you got to just win them bullets fly.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_03]: You got to, you know, it always comes down to what your coach is telling you to do and you know, learning your place because if you don't know your place, you're going to be out there.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: And if you know your place and maybe say you make a mistake, make that mistake going to 100 miles per hour.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 59:02[SPEAKER_03]: And everything else will fix it.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_00]: sound like buster screen to me.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_00]: I love buster screen, man.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_03]: Before we were rough past, right, man?
- 59:12[SPEAKER_03]: How is it?
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_01]: But before we rip into some fun, Cleveland sports questions with you, Phil, one more about the NFL.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_01]: What's one aspect of being a player that might not be as glamorous as us fans, think it is.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's just being a professional athlete period.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_03]: I think I always say it's a gift and a curse, because it's a gift, yeah, one percent of us make it to this.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_03]: And it's one of the hardest things to do, and for guys who made it, they should look at themselves and we're like, hey, one percent of people in this world can do this, and it's awesome.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_03]: But at the same time, it's a curse, because we're under the spotlight.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_03]: Anything we do is publicize where as, you know, the average Joe Smoke, you know, you won't hear anything about it, you know, since I said it's a gift and a curse.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: I like that.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we do have some rapid-fire fun questions for your college football.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: 27 is out.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know that we all know that which program are you taking to top first?
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think I know the answer.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_03]: either bailer or uh... second oil state my my son got he got to the luck so he had to play your few days earlier whatever i've been stolen from yet but uh... i let him get a few days and before i start working up on
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, which day are you rocking with?
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when I was a kid, I saw I've never been a big college guy ever, and I wish I always was, but it just was never bred into me.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_00]: But when I played flag football, we were at a Washington Huskies.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I always picked the Washington Huskies before they were actually a good team.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_00]: But in today's world, oh, and I always went Xavier College because my head's Xavier name.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm cooked.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, you know, it's not about the team.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's about to play behind the sticks.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_00]: I was cooking, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's usually opposite.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's about the name of a front.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_00]: It is what it is.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_02]: But I will probably take Ohio State just for just for the shit to me who's loves me.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: I pick up.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: I pick a Mac team every year.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_02]: Two was a, no, I didn't play.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_03]: So much like to do your dynasty, or you talk about... Died the head on line.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'll talk and die in a state.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, a dynasty.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you got to know how to for me.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going dynasty.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'm starting at Ohio State as a coordinator.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_03]: You got a win.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_03]: You got a build up there.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_00]: You got a build up there.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_03]: Get a name out there.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_03]: Get a couple of chips and get a body there.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's fair.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's fair.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_02]: All online head to head is a different conversation.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_02]: I love not that more.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_02]: I love playing with not that more.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's a, he's a top five quarterback in the game.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: I see.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's so sweet.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_02]: I was so sweet.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my bailer fans don't hear this, but I played a lot with Ann Em last year.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_03]: That the QB, uh, Oh, Barcelerate.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, man, he used them a lot.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: So you were with KC, you, you were ready for KC concept, see you on before he even got to Cleveland.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_02]: You all about it.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_02]: Phil, in your opinion, which former teammate and Cleveland had the most legendary college career.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_03]: Legendary college career so many guys at good college career.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_03]: This is tough.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I'll bring it down to who won a national championship.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_03]: Let's put it down.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to have to say Joe.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_03]: and also Trent.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was dope in college.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: You was, that's what he was.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Cole, Cole almost won too.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_03]: If you didn't go hurt.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'd be cold my last year.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: Can we?
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: Can we?
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: Can we can?
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: Can we jump on that Trent?
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: Richard, they were you was in a locker room with what?
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: Why didn't Trent Richardson live up to the expectation that we all thought he was going.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like we for everyone was like a for the next edge of your appears and you couldn't tell a casual a casual a casual first play when he knocked the helmet off bro you couldn't tell against Philly right if you couldn't tell a casual fan I tried to understand would not be a dog And NFL what the hell happened was something in locker room was he like did he just not get it like what I mean Yeah, good first year.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_03]: He got it.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_03]: You know he worked hard.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_03]: I don't I don't know because it was like
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe the different system, I don't know because I felt like he just wasn't like he would get he wasn't breaking away like he was, you know what I mean?
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_03]: So I just had that college speed on to never get it's different, it's different, I'm gonna tell you, it's different.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_03]: It took me a couple of weeks to get used to the game speed and it felt when I was saying when I first got drafted and got out to training camp and stuff.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_03]: But, you don't know what's going on in somebody's head.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_03]: Totally.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_03]: You never know.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_00]: I thought for sure we hit a grand slam with him.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_01]: Phil switching it over to a little bit of baseball for you.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_01]: So Stephen Clawne has had a good last two weeks here for our Cleveland Guardians, right?
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_01]: Still overall in the season though, only hidden to 21.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's struggling a bit.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_01]: If Stephen Clawne walked into this room right now and he was like, Phil, I need a new walk-up song.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_01]: I got to switch the vibe.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: I got to get my head back on straight.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: We got to get this season back together.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_01]: What would be your walk-up song suggestion for Stephen Clawne?
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'll do my my my my science walk-up song by daront Oliver man, it that is a good that's that's a damn it That's Daniel's walk-up song to for the Cleveland Guardians.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_02]: I like that.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_02]: Well, when you were in a slump on the field Did you have any superstitions trying to break that cycle?
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_03]: clear it because you can't do that on it.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_03]: You fucked up.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_03]: You got to move on.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's, and I just tell the younger kids that now is clear.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I yell at, you know, even in baseball, you know, my son is strike out clear.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_03]: It is a control what you can control.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_03]: And, and my son and these kids, especially since we're still talking about baseball, I'm like, they get mad when they strike out.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, dude, and hitting is the hardest thing you can do.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_03]: But if you go to the MLB and you hit three out of ten times, your whole career, you will go to the Hall of Fame.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_03]: And that sounds terrible.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_03]: Three out of ten, that's not good.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_00]: But baseball is hard.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_03]: So like he's saying, what's the name struggling?
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_03]: He's batting 200 something, you know what I mean?
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_03]: better than I would be.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's struggling to me.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_02]: Oh man.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Phil, we have one more question.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_02]: Are you tapping the reality TV at all?
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_03]: I try to get out of it.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_02]: Try to get out of it.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_02]: Are you guys tapping the eat it?
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you've watched Survivor before.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_02]: Which former or current Cleveland athlete would be the favorite or who survives longest on Survivor, do you think?
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_00]: very bondage.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's down for that type of stuff.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_00]: Who's the one dude on the, um, damn, what is his name?
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_00]: He, he always walked in with no side, well, not Mac Collins, but our guy, I think he was a DB.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_00]: He had the long hair he used to come in with the stack.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Tony Fields.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_00]: No, not Tony Fields.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, um, Darston, shorter.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think he played two fields.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_02]: What is he was on the team last year?
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he was on the team last year.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot Tony Fields.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to turn back.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was a cornerback.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_00]: And he had long hair and he would always a J.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_00]: Green on game day with the, with the, with the, with the cane and no socks.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think if I'm thinking correctly, he would probably be numerous.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, right now, right?
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_00]: What was Tony Brown?
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_00]: That was his name, right?
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_00]: Tony Brown.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_01]: Tony Brown.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_01]: Number 38 is I cracked.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think that I think you might remember that was Tony Brown.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_02]: Tony Brown 100% I knew it was a Tony.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_02]: I would go with Carson Swesinger.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think he talked about that type of stuff too.
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_00]: But then again, he is kind of a, he's kind of a sleeper pretty boy.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: If I looked at him, I'd be like, oh, that's a pretty boy.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then you talked to him, like, maybe he's not a pretty boy.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_00]: But he gives me pretty boy vibes.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_02]: Jack, what do you think?
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_00]: I got a take Josh Krebs here.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think, I think I don't know.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, hey, hey, he's going to be a dog in the challenges.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking the challenges, right?
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_00]: Talking the challenges, I'm going to call for you.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_00]: But me, Ron, he has a game.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be like, I'm over here with Josh, and he over here trying to survive.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm trying to let you know he's doing all right.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_03]: But he would have been like, I'm going to create a new fear of fact.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_01]: And he would have been like, fear of fact.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_01]: Fear of fact, there.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: We should.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: So what should your former teammates then fill?
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's another show that's really popular right now.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_01]: Are we familiar with Love Island at all?
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen anything about it?
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_03]: I think Climple and Charles and White was on there.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_03]: How's about it?
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: Who of your former teammates do you think would fare the best on Love Island?
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, let's see, uh... Or is that where Josh Krebs comes in?
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_03]: Can you get Joe Joe that way?
- 1:08:06[SPEAKER_03]: No, not even Joe Joe.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_03]: No, I say, uh, Greg little.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I can see it.
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe a TJ war.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_03]: TJ.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my God.
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but the TJ war.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that will be funny on there.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_03]: That makes sense.

- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_01]: And we just talked about suggesting a walk-up song for Stephen Clawn.
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_01]: Stephen Clawn has an OPS over 800 in the last two weeks.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's hitting four, 17 in his last five games.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_01]: How wild is a little Stephen Cuan plus two 80 to have two hits tonight to keep his hot streak alive?
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, if there's one thing, I'm not going to act like I'm a Tom Hamilton watching baseball.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you are.
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not at all.
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_01]: You got some shades of Chris Jim and I assume.

- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I'm going to keep it a buck until playoff time.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_00]: But if there's one thing that I know right about our Cleveland Guardians and when Stephen Kwon is on fire, that man is on fire, I would take the to it.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you're telling your say and he's cooking right now, he's cooking right now.
- 1:10:17[SPEAKER_01]: We're 17 the last five games.

- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts on the United States of America and the so-called Golden Age?
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I do have a take for you, actually.
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this was the perfect scenario for USA to actually make a name for themselves in the soccer world, right?
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think that no one ever took USA seriously.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't watch much of it at all, and all I heard was, oh, USA is about to do it like, you felt the people invested, right?
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_00]: And every comment that I saw was, well, if USA actually cared about soccer, we would be the best.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think this was the the moment for them.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_00]: We're now.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, OK, we're going to take this a little bit seriously.
- 1:11:06[SPEAKER_00]: So come back in four years, same channel, big play Cleveland.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_00]: You're all right, right here.
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, I guarantee you the USA will start taking soccer a little bit more seriously, and they will solidify their name, whether it be in four years or eight years.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's my hot take on it.
- 1:11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Uncle Sam chef today, whatever you want to call it for you that's all we have for a big play Cleveland live today We'll be back at noon tomorrow Matt Fontana Ryan Tyler and the whole gang and hopefully LeBron James and Cleveland
