- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Loads of things happening today.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Round 2 of your weekend tickets and also Leeve is
- 0:18Speaker 1: live in Singapore tonight. I cannot wait. It's Joakim Gilmaz,
- 0:22Speaker 1: day 2 of going solo with you, walking you through
- 0:25Speaker 1: your entire Tuesday. Singapore's number 1 hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So yesterday on Insta Stories, saw a couple of friends
- 0:34Speaker 1: share that they were able to get tickets for the
- 0:37Speaker 1: weekend's concert happening at the National Stadium October 2nd, October 3rd.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Yesterday was the artist pre-sale. So if you join, maybe
- 0:47Speaker 1: say the Weekend.com and you get the exclusive updates, newsletters,
- 0:51Speaker 1: and all that, they would have emailed you a very
- 0:54Speaker 1: Special code which allowed you to buy tickets yesterday during
- 0:57Speaker 1: the artist's pre-sale. That is done and dusted. Today at
- 1:03Speaker 1: 12 p.m., so Tuesday, 19th of May, today, 12:00 p.m.
- 1:08Speaker 1: till tomorrow, 20th of May, that's Wednesday at 12:00 p.m.
- 1:12Speaker 1: you have the Visa pre-sale tickets. Yes.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So if you have a Visa card, you can get
- 1:23Speaker 1: your pre-sale for the weekend's concert if you're able to
- 1:28Speaker 1: beat the queue.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And have the patience to wait for as long as
- 1:31Speaker 1: it might take to get a pair, 3 or even
- 1:34Speaker 1: 1 ticket to the weekend's concert here in Singapore. But
- 1:37Speaker 1: I must say, given the staging for this one, the
- 1:40Speaker 1: After Dawn till After Hours Till Dawn tour rather, you
- 1:44Speaker 1: got to get, you got to go, at least for
- 1:46Speaker 1: 1 night and try. And if it's your first time
- 1:49Speaker 1: tuning in,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm a huge football fan, and that's why I'm looking
- 1:53Speaker 1: forward to World Cup 2026. Never mind the politics, never
- 1:57Speaker 1: mind the conspiracies. Uh, I'm all up for football action.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean, the Premier League season is ending very soon,
- 2:04Speaker 1: this weekend, and to Arsenal fans, congratulations, 1-0 against Burnley.
- 2:10Speaker 1: For some strange reason, Kai Harvard suddenly showing up for
- 2:14Speaker 1: your squad. Well done. Uh, but in terms of World
- 2:18Speaker 1: Cup news or maybe football news, I wanna say congratulations
- 2:24Speaker 1: to Neymar. Neymar has received the official Brazil call-up from
- 2:29Speaker 1: manager Carlo Ancelotti, so we are gonna see Neymar in
- 2:33Speaker 1: the Brazil squad this World Cup. So I'm happy for that.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Well done. He, he's really tried.
- 2:39Speaker 1: He has really tried his best, people, and going to
- 2:42Speaker 1: Spanish football, Lamin Yamal could be out for the 1st
- 2:47Speaker 1: 2 games of the World Cup. They're hoping to get
- 2:50Speaker 1: him fit against Uruguay and going to the Spanish league,
- 2:54Speaker 1: he returns as the manager of Real Madrid.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Because next season.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Jose Mourinho is the manager of Real Madrid again. Wow.
- 3:11Speaker 1: In a very interesting turn of events, I cannot wait
- 3:14Speaker 1: to see how his second spell at Real Madrid goes.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But I must say, having been to the Santiago Bernabeu
- 3:20Speaker 1: just a few months ago, I was there in October
- 3:22Speaker 1: and I even did a video for you. I watched
- 3:25Speaker 1: El Clasico live, the game where Kylian Mbappe and Jude
- 3:29Speaker 1: Bellingham scored 2 goals.
- 3:31Speaker 1: For Real Madrid to make it 2-1. If I'm not wrong,
- 3:33Speaker 1: for Barcelona, it was Fermin Lopez who made it 1
- 3:37Speaker 1: for Barcelona, but the final score was Madrid 2. Barcelona
- 3:41Speaker 1: 1 whenever they play Hala Madrid in the stadium, and
- 3:44Speaker 1: because it's like an indoor dome, it's absolutely goosebumps inducing.
- 3:48Speaker 1: If you're able to, I hope you go to your
- 3:51Speaker 1: favorite football team's stadium to catch a home game live
- 3:55Speaker 1: one day. It's a different experience.
- 3:57Speaker 1: than watching it on the screens. Also getting married this year,
- 4:00Speaker 1: or maybe she's gotten married already. Knowing her, she will
- 4:03Speaker 1: do first, then tell her millions of fans later. That
- 4:07Speaker 1: song called The Opalite right here on 987, your number
- 4:10Speaker 1: one hit music station. And OK, phone lines are open
- 4:13Speaker 1: over at 669-11987. As always, Sonia and I, we're on
- 4:18Speaker 1: a mission to make sure we get every school, give
- 4:20Speaker 1: a shout out here on the show.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And so far, so good. Yesterday, if I'm not wrong,
- 4:26Speaker 1: we had Ethan from Maha Bodhi School. Thank you very
- 4:29Speaker 1: much for your call. Ethan, who are we gonna get
- 4:32Speaker 1: today on this Tuesday? Let us know and give your
- 4:35Speaker 1: school a shout out, maybe even your classmates or your CCA.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And as always, the biggest takeaway for you, maybe you
- 4:41Speaker 1: can practice your conversation skills and request for your favorite
- 4:45Speaker 1: song to play here on 987. 987, hello, what's your name?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Hello 97. My name is Elliott. Hello, Elliott. So what
- 4:54Speaker 1: school are you in?
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'm from Red Swastika. Red Swastika school. Where is that
- 5:01Speaker 1: here in Singapore? I keep forgetting which area? It's in Bedok. Bedok. OK,
- 5:07Speaker 1: so what level are you in this year? I am
- 5:09Speaker 1: primary 1. And given how it's been 5 months since.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You started school for the very first time in your life.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Are you enjoying school so far? Yes, I love school.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And because today is my favorite day. Why is today
- 5:22Speaker 1: your favorite day? Because it's the least period day. OK,
- 5:27Speaker 1: so every Tuesday.
- 5:29Speaker 1: That's not, it's not too busy, is it? Yes. OK.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And what has been your favorite subject so far in school? English. English.
- 5:37Speaker 1: All right then. Can I get you any song to
- 5:41Speaker 1: play for your friends in school over at Red Swastika?
- 5:44Speaker 1: I want Linkin Park. You want Linkin Park. Can be
- 5:47Speaker 1: any song.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Emptiness Machine from Lincoln Park. That's a very interesting choice
- 5:53Speaker 1: coming from you, but I like your music taste. Let's go.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'll play it for you here on 987. Have a
- 5:58Speaker 1: great day, OK? Thank you. Take care, Elliott. Bye-bye. So,
- 6:02Speaker 1: last week, I shared with you how over in China,
- 6:06Speaker 1: there was a visually impaired woman who was struck by
- 6:10Speaker 1: a
- 6:10Speaker 1: A scooter rider on a scooter, of course, and the
- 6:14Speaker 1: rider decided to scold the lady, saying, Hey, you don't
- 6:17Speaker 1: know where you're going, is it? But she's visually impaired
- 6:20Speaker 1: and you can see the cane very clearly on the
- 6:22Speaker 1: floor in the video, and she was trying to find
- 6:25Speaker 1: the cane and all that, to which there was outrage.
- 6:27Speaker 1: People were going, How can you do this? Go and
- 6:29Speaker 1: find the guy, go and investigate. And true enough, the
- 6:33Speaker 1: police did. And as of this morning, I read, and
- 6:35Speaker 1: my heart sank la, sank out of anger.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It was actually a staged incident. Yup, the lady and
- 6:43Speaker 1: the scooter rider actually knew each other and they staged
- 6:47Speaker 1: this incident to gain more following and profit from whatever
- 6:51Speaker 1: business that they're doing.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Hey
- 6:57Speaker 1: I mean, the the the kind of things people would
- 7:00Speaker 1: do to gain a following, yeah, I, I when you
- 7:04Speaker 1: think you've seen it all and heard it all, they
- 7:07Speaker 1: change the questions. There you go. Earlier I was saying
- 7:10Speaker 1: if you're a private hire vehicle driver or maybe even
- 7:13Speaker 1: a cab driver here in Singapore, I I know there
- 7:16Speaker 1: are a couple of places where the moment you see
- 7:19Speaker 1: the booking,
- 7:20Speaker 1: You will go, OK, no, I'm not gonna take it
- 7:22Speaker 1: because it's very far. I know this for a fact
- 7:24Speaker 1: because last year when we were doing 987 Star and
- 7:28Speaker 1: one of our locations was the Scouts camp over at
- 7:32Speaker 1: Lim Chu Kang.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I had a hell of a time trying to get
- 7:36Speaker 1: a cab or a private hire vehicle, to the point
- 7:39Speaker 1: where I got one, I actually told the driver, hey,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you know what, I know it's very out of the way. Uh,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I'll be tipping you because going in towards the scouts camp,
- 7:47Speaker 1: it's a path filled with gravel, where buses may be
- 7:51Speaker 1: no problem, but for a small car, you gotta go
- 7:54Speaker 1: very slow to make sure the rocks don't damage your
- 7:56Speaker 1: car and all that. So, thank you very much to
- 7:58Speaker 1: the drivers that took me there.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But let's tell you the story of 39 year old
- 8:03Speaker 1: Grab driver Raymond. Not a sponsored post, by the way. Um,
- 8:07Speaker 1: there was a father and son duo who are living
- 8:11Speaker 1: in Brunei, but for the father, his parents are buried
- 8:15Speaker 1: here in Singapore at the Muslim cemetery at Lim Chu Kang, OK?
- 8:20Speaker 1: So, his son wanted to go and pay respects to
- 8:24Speaker 1: his grandparents, the father's parents, of course, before traveling abroad
- 8:27Speaker 1: and so they decided, OK, let's come to Singapore and
- 8:30Speaker 1: let's clean their graves as you should whenever you can.
- 8:34Speaker 1: So, Raymond was the Grab driver that took their booking
- 8:38Speaker 1: to Lim Chu Kang. So he accepted it. That's a
- 8:41Speaker 1: win for the father and son duo already. The next
- 8:43Speaker 1: win is Raymond decides to stay at Lim Chu Kang
- 8:48Speaker 1: to wait for the father and son duo to finish
- 8:50Speaker 1: everything because Raymond thought that, hey, you know what, it
- 8:54Speaker 1: might be quite hard to get a grab from this location,
- 8:56Speaker 1: so I will stay with you. That's the 2nd win.
- 8:59Speaker 1: The 3rd win, Raymond was observing the father and son
- 9:03Speaker 1: conduct their rituals and prayers and cleaning up the grave.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Raymond decides to join in and help them wipe down
- 9:09Speaker 1: the grave as well. I, I think that is a
- 9:11Speaker 1: very nice story and a win for racial harmony and
- 9:15Speaker 1: a win for humanity here in Singapore. I love it.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Well done.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And Raymond brought them to their next location and only
- 9:25Speaker 1: accepted the standard Grab fare. So I guess if anyone
- 9:28Speaker 1: from Grab is listening to this, please give Raymond something.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I think this is really an exemplary standards of how
- 9:35Speaker 1: sometimes the human spirit can just win you over like that.
- 9:38Speaker 1: And to Raymond, if you're tuned in, thank you very much.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Very much for doing what you did and I'm pretty
- 9:42Speaker 1: sure the father and son duo who is currently living
- 9:45Speaker 1: in Brunei, they will remember you for the rest of
- 9:48Speaker 1: their lives. It's Cortis TNT right here on 987, your
- 9:51Speaker 1: number one hit music station. Joakim Gomez here with you.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And earlier I was saying you are familiar with Ne
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yo's classic hit, Closer. Here is how it sounds like.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Oh, if you are bobbing your head right now, you
- 10:06Speaker 1: and I both here on the station, but OK, um,
- 10:09Speaker 1: Radio One Extra for the BBC. I, I love their content,
- 10:13Speaker 1: by the way. I feel that they make radio fun
- 10:16Speaker 1: and what one of their hosts, Remy Rhymes, actually did
- 10:20Speaker 1: with Neo, she got Neo in the studio. They're having
- 10:22Speaker 1: an interview and she does this segment called Nursery Rhymes,
- 10:27Speaker 1: using the artist's backing track of a popular song they have.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So, this is Neo and Remi Rhymes doing twinkle Twinkle
- 10:39Speaker 1: Little Star using closer and after this, trust me, you'll
- 10:44Speaker 1: never ever hear closer the same way ever again. Here
- 10:47Speaker 1: is the verse.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Twinkle twinkle
- 10:54Speaker 1: And
- 11:00Speaker 1: Like
- 11:05Speaker 1: OK, that's the verse, and if you're wondering, hey, will
- 11:08Speaker 1: the chorus sound something similar? The answer is yes, it will.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Wait for it.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And here we go.
- 11:26Speaker 1: And you would think Neo might have found this lame
- 11:28Speaker 1: or whatsoever. No, he was vibing in the studio. There
- 11:32Speaker 1: you go. I think the full video has gone viral
- 11:35Speaker 1: on TikTok and people are saying, Neo, can you please
- 11:38Speaker 1: release a nursery rhymes album? We'll definitely buy it. Now, um,
- 11:42Speaker 1: maybe later on if you have free time.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm a huge fan of CNA Insider. I I love
- 11:48Speaker 1: the kind of content they put out. I think it's
- 11:50Speaker 1: very educational, something that we could all learn from. It
- 11:54Speaker 1: might even help us with our general knowledge and even
- 11:57Speaker 1: what's happening here in Singapore or overseas. So Diana Su,
- 12:02Speaker 1: who actually hosts a few of the episodes of Talking Point,
- 12:04Speaker 1: if I'm not wrong,
- 12:05Speaker 1: She actually disguised herself as a senior here in Singapore.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You can see the entire makeup process and she was
- 12:13Speaker 1: walking past all these hair salons, nail salons, skin salons
- 12:18Speaker 1: and all that, and when she was walking by as Diana, sir,
- 12:22Speaker 1: nobody stopped her.
- 12:24Speaker 1: When she walked past these shops under her disguise as
- 12:27Speaker 1: the elderly auntie, she got stopped almost everywhere she went
- 12:31Speaker 1: and she got pressured into signing packages and all that.
- 12:34Speaker 1: It's a very good watch and something maybe you can
- 12:36Speaker 1: watch and warn your moms, your dads, or even your
- 12:40Speaker 1: grandparents about to be careful and to always not sign
- 12:44Speaker 1: the package. Wait a while, think about it first and
- 12:49Speaker 1: do your research.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Because there's also a segment where they feature what Case,
- 12:54Speaker 1: the consumer, uh, I cannot for the life of me
- 12:57Speaker 1: recall the full title, but yes, Kay Singapore. There's even
- 13:00Speaker 1: a segment where they will tell you what Case can
- 13:02Speaker 1: do and cannot do. So it's a very nice watch
- 13:05Speaker 1: for you again on CNN Insider. Very educational video, this one.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And by the way, in case you're wondering where our
- 13:11Speaker 1: darling Sonny Chew is, she just got married over the weekend.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Some news outlets still reporting about it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And she's currently on her way to the southern side
- 13:20Speaker 1: of France for a nice honeymoon. She will be back
- 13:23Speaker 1: with us 2nd of June. That's the Tuesday after Vesak Day. So,
- 13:29Speaker 1: on the 2nd of June, I will do one show
- 13:31Speaker 1: with her, then it's my turn for a break.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I, I, I'm going to Bhutan, so anyone has recommendations,
- 13:38Speaker 1: let me know. I know you have to be guided
- 13:40Speaker 1: by a tour guide and all that, but I'm on
- 13:41Speaker 1: a solo private guide. Let's see. I cannot wait to
- 13:45Speaker 1: enjoy what has been raved about by friends. So whenever
- 13:48Speaker 1: I say I'm going to Bhutan, they go, Oh, Bhutan, wow,
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna enjoy it. It's so nice over there. Anyway,
- 13:53Speaker 1: that's a story for later on. But now, if you
- 13:57Speaker 1: are a foodie here in Singapore, here's my question.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Would you travel for food? Because for me, I know
- 14:06Speaker 1: I'm a bit of a convenience guy, but it's sometimes
- 14:09Speaker 1: I really crave for something that could be found at
- 14:12Speaker 1: Bukit Panjang, by the way, like the Kur Komian. I
- 14:15Speaker 1: would go or maybe even juicingng Teo Chew Wei. I'll
- 14:19Speaker 1: take the train. I'll go to BD World and I'll
- 14:21Speaker 1: go to the Teo Cheng Wei. I'll have it, then
- 14:22Speaker 1: I'll go home very happy because people know in the
- 14:25Speaker 1: comment section and
- 14:28Speaker 1: For this particular one, I'm not too sure how to feel.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You know, Chim Me Chin, the one over at the
- 14:33Speaker 1: Katong area. I, I don't know whether it has it
- 14:35Speaker 1: been there for 100+ years already at the same spot,
- 14:38Speaker 1: but yeah, um, initially it was closed for a bit,
- 14:41Speaker 1: then it reopened again.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And for Chimmi Chin, Sonia and I will always have
- 14:46Speaker 1: a very soft spot for it because in 2018, we
- 14:49Speaker 1: actually had our first magazine cover shoot there together for
- 14:52Speaker 1: eight days when they still have physical copies. The pictures
- 14:56Speaker 1: are still available on social media. So you would know
- 14:59Speaker 1: Chimi Chin is very popular for its kaya toast, and
- 15:01Speaker 1: you've got the cream horns, very good te as well.
- 15:05Speaker 1: What's splitting the public is they announced that in quarter
- 15:09Speaker 1: 3 later this year, they might be opening a new
- 15:14Speaker 1: outlet at Next Serangoon. Yes, to which, uh, look, again,
- 15:21Speaker 1: to Serangoon people, I've nothing against you, but even Serangoon
- 15:25Speaker 1: people themselves are saying Next is a terrible place sometimes.
- 15:28Speaker 1: There's never a right time to go to Next because
- 15:30Speaker 1: it's always crowded.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It's a good thing, good problem for the people who
- 15:34Speaker 1: own Next and all the stores over there, but yes,
- 15:36Speaker 1: it's always crowded over at Next. So with Chin Me
- 15:39Speaker 1: Chin opening over there.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I can expect snaking queues and long lines, but
- 15:46Speaker 1: some of the comments on social media and even maybe
- 15:48Speaker 1: public sentiment is, hey, actually, Chinmi Chin, right, is such
- 15:52Speaker 1: a gem and diamond of Katong. We feel that it
- 15:56Speaker 1: should stay only in Katong. If you want to have chimichin,
- 15:59Speaker 1: you come down to Katong to try it.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Some people are saying, OK lah, but think about our
- 16:05Speaker 1: elderly and seniors who maybe live not too near Katong.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Maybe next could be a better option for them. Yeah, I, I,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I see both sides of the coin, and that's why
- 16:15Speaker 1: I wanna hear from you. 669-119-87 or you can even
- 16:20Speaker 1: WhatsApp us at 90050987.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Would you travel for food here in Singapore? Like, for example,
- 16:29Speaker 1: you stay in Jurong, but there's a very popular Hokkien
- 16:32Speaker 1: mee in Tampines. Would you go all the way down
- 16:35Speaker 1: there to Makan?
- 16:36Speaker 1: And go back. Let me know your opinions and thoughts
- 16:39Speaker 1: and maybe even weigh in on this whole Chimm Chin
- 16:42Speaker 1: thing as well. If we do like your answer, what's
- 16:45Speaker 1: coming your way? A very nice dining experience. All thanks
- 16:47Speaker 1: to our friends over at Luce Frasier's house worth $100.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Food being the focus of today's topic, would you travel
- 16:56Speaker 1: for food inspired by Chin Mee Chin's announcement?
- 17:00Speaker 1: That they'll be opening a second branch somewhere around Q3
- 17:04Speaker 1: at N Serangoon. So it's kind of split social media
- 17:08Speaker 1: and public sentiment saying, hey, Chin Me Chin has been,
- 17:11Speaker 1: you know, the, the east side, the, the east side
- 17:15Speaker 1: claim for the last 100 years or so. I feel
- 17:18Speaker 1: that if people want to try Chinmi Chin, they should
- 17:20Speaker 1: come to the east.
- 17:21Speaker 1: we go to them, but now that it's opening over
- 17:23Speaker 1: at Next Serangoon, some are saying, Oh, I finally get
- 17:26Speaker 1: to try it if I'm not able to travel to
- 17:28Speaker 1: the east side of Singapore. So what are your thoughts?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Would you travel for good food and maybe if you
- 17:33Speaker 1: want to weigh in on the whole Chimmi Chin opening
- 17:36Speaker 1: at Next Serangoon situation, let us know as well. I'm
- 17:39Speaker 1: gonna go to WhatsApp and say good morning to Wayne. Morning, Joakim.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I won't travel for food unless I have a car.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I live in Pasir Ris and I don't find it
- 17:48Speaker 1: worth traveling 1.5 hours to the other end for delicious food.
- 17:53Speaker 1: But again, I always complain there's nothing much in my area.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It's a first world problem. Regarding Chin Me Chin, opening
- 17:59Speaker 1: at Next is a strategic location.
- 18:01Speaker 1: But it's also one of the most popular malls for food.
- 18:04Speaker 1: My take is you'll probably need to queue a lot
- 18:07Speaker 1: during peak hours too. Alright. One coming in from John.
- 18:12Speaker 1: John says, absolutely, I would travel for good or recommended food,
- 18:16Speaker 1: especially when you're down and need some pick up comfort
- 18:20Speaker 1: food to make your day, and there's only trusted comfort
- 18:22Speaker 1: food that can lift you up but not others. Others
- 18:25Speaker 1: just doesn't make it right. So I replied John on
- 18:27Speaker 1: WhatsApp saying, what's the
- 18:28Speaker 1: The furthest he has traveled for food, he says, from
- 18:31Speaker 1: Jurong to Sengkang or even from Jurong to JB just
- 18:36Speaker 1: for that comfort food. Go to the phone lines to 669-119-87. Min,
- 18:42Speaker 1: would you travel for food?
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yes, because I stay around Fernvale, around, I think Northeast.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I some days I travel all the way to like
- 18:50Speaker 2: King Albert Park, I think it's the west side, just
- 18:53Speaker 2: to buy this sourdough from this, uh.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I think it's a local based bakery. Then after that,
- 18:59Speaker 2: I just take the train home. So the like, uh,
- 19:02Speaker 2: travel time is about 1.5 hours too, and then fro
- 19:05Speaker 2: is another 2.5 hours, but the transaction is just 5
- 19:09Speaker 2: minutes lah.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so this sourdough brick can only be found at
- 19:13Speaker 1: King Albert Park. Yes. If you were to open somewhere
- 19:17Speaker 1: near Fernvale, would you still go to King Albert Park
- 19:20Speaker 1: or go to the Fernvale one?
- 19:22Speaker 2: Hm, I think I will go to the one nearest
- 19:26Speaker 2: to me. It used to be at Sing Ming and
- 19:28Speaker 2: then they actually, uh, they moved over, so I traveled
- 19:32Speaker 2: all the way there,
- 19:32Speaker 1: yeah. Out of curiosity, what's so good about this sourdough bread?
- 19:35Speaker 1: Tell us please.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Um, it's very moist, and then, uh, there are some
- 19:40Speaker 2: unique flavors that I really like.
- 19:42Speaker 1: We are hot in the debate of whether would you
- 19:45Speaker 1: travel for food here in Singapore, inspired by what Chimi
- 19:49Speaker 1: Chin are doing in quarter 3 of this year. If
- 19:52Speaker 1: you live in Serangoon, Kovan, maybe Boon Keng, Woodley, Potong Pasir,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you can celebrate because they are opening their second outlet
- 20:01Speaker 1: over at Serangoon.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Good next, yeah, to which I'm a bit worried now
- 20:04Speaker 1: because Next is already so crowded. There'll definitely be sneaking
- 20:07Speaker 1: lines and people on social media are saying yay, and
- 20:11Speaker 1: the other side are saying ey, but Chimi Chin has
- 20:14Speaker 1: been the gem of the east for 100 years. I
- 20:17Speaker 1: feel if you want to have Chimi Chin, you should
- 20:19Speaker 1: go to Katong, not go anywhere else. But yeah, that,
- 20:22Speaker 1: that's an ongoing debate right now. Going to our phone lines.
- 20:26Speaker 1: 90050987. That's our WhatsApp number. I want to say good
- 20:31Speaker 1: morning to Martin. Martin says, hello Solo Joe. My friends
- 20:35Speaker 1: and I often go to this Kota thingy Bakute restaurant
- 20:39Speaker 1: just to eat and come back. No fuss. We even
- 20:42Speaker 1: once drove up to Malacca just to eat the cheese
- 20:45Speaker 1: beehoon and came back. No staying over, no shopping. So
- 20:49Speaker 1: I asked him, Martin.
- 20:51Speaker 1: If such places were to open in Singapore, would you
- 20:55Speaker 1: still travel or have the one in Singa or have
- 20:56Speaker 1: the one in Singapore? He goes, no way, I will
- 21:00Speaker 1: still travel because I don't want it to ruin the
- 21:02Speaker 1: authentic experience. OK, fantastic. One coming in as well from Waitta.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Waitta says, Hey, Joakim, as a foodie, yes, I or
- 21:11Speaker 1: we will travel for good food, even overseas to nice
- 21:15Speaker 1: places for good food, similar to places for good food
- 21:18Speaker 1: when we travel.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I think that we should always encourage food business that
- 21:21Speaker 1: expands to other outlets as we always want to encourage
- 21:24Speaker 1: food culture with more legacy shops are being lost, and
- 21:28Speaker 1: more business, more growth and profit to continuation. And there
- 21:31Speaker 1: are so many works that are put in store for
- 21:34Speaker 1: food business owners, but they must ensure the food standard,
- 21:37Speaker 1: staff training, and also others. Going to the phone lines
- 21:41Speaker 1: over at 669-119-87. Frederick, would you travel for good food?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, I mean, uh, for anything that is for food, right,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I mean traveling to different parts of Singapore, especially for cafe,
- 21:56Speaker 1: like I mean because I'm a matcha lover, so anything
- 22:00Speaker 1: that's matcha definitely I will travel to, uh, like even for,
- 22:04Speaker 1: you know, like recently, like, uh, Somerset open like.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Uh, Yochi and, yeah, apparently a lot of my friends,
- 22:12Speaker 1: they also travel from different parts of Singapore all the
- 22:15Speaker 1: way to Somerset just for all these, and it's always
- 22:18Speaker 1: making long queue. What's the furthest you travel here in Singapore,
- 22:21Speaker 1: like from Jurong to Pasir Ris or something like that?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Anything you wanna share?
- 22:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean from the west side like Chuchkang because
- 22:28Speaker 1: I stay in Chokang, uh, so all the way to
- 22:31Speaker 1: like say Punggol or even Sengtang or even Jewel, Jewel Changi, yes, OK.
- 22:39Speaker 1: How do you travel there? Train? Do you ride or
- 22:41Speaker 1: you drive there or what? Oh, MRT. OK, Frederick, hang
- 22:45Speaker 1: on before you go. So where's the best matcha here
- 22:47Speaker 1: in Singapore in your opinion?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Uh, I would say have la. Hala, is it?
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Alright, thank you very much. Bye-bye. Apparently majority are
- 22:57Speaker 1: saying yes, they will. Some even going as far as
- 23:01Speaker 1: Kota Tingi or even Malacca. Wanna say good morning to
- 23:04Speaker 1: AT who gave me quite a lengthy message, so I'll
- 23:08Speaker 1: do my best to read everything for you. Morning, Joe.
- 23:11Speaker 1: For me, I definitely would travel for food because I
- 23:14Speaker 1: think like most Singaporeans, I live to eat. I stay
- 23:17Speaker 1: in the west, quite far west, but I would travel
- 23:20Speaker 1: to Juchet to pick up this home dining.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Japanese uni set, just because I have a craving, but
- 23:25Speaker 1: of course it is also because I drive, so if
- 23:27Speaker 1: I have to take the public transport, I may not
- 23:29Speaker 1: be as adventurous or as hardworking. And because I love
- 23:33Speaker 1: food so much, even when I travel, I'll plan my
- 23:36Speaker 1: shopping and my trips around where the good food is. Now,
- 23:40Speaker 1: regarding the Chin Me Chin's new shop over at Next Serangoon,
- 23:44Speaker 1: because I stay so far from the shop in Katong,
- 23:46Speaker 1: so to me I would appreciate a branch closer to
- 23:49Speaker 1: my place. I do understand the east side.
- 23:51Speaker 1: s but I also appreciate that with the new location,
- 23:54Speaker 1: the shop is able to share a little bit of
- 23:56Speaker 1: their heritage with more Singaporeans, making it more accessible, especially
- 24:00Speaker 1: like what you mentioned earlier on to the elderly, and
- 24:02Speaker 1: even for young families who probably used to live in
- 24:05Speaker 1: the east and have since moved away from it, it'll
- 24:08Speaker 1: be quite nice for them to be able to share
- 24:10Speaker 1: that part of childhood memories with their young children. Well, AT, my,
- 24:15Speaker 1: my only hope for Chimmi Chin's next Serangoon outlet is
- 24:18Speaker 1: they maintain the standards.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I feel one or two workers from the Katong branch
- 24:24Speaker 1: need to go to the Serangoon branch to make sure
- 24:26Speaker 1: that everything is up to standard and that the standard
- 24:29Speaker 1: of Chimichin maintains. Yeah. According to the phone lines, it's 669-119-87. Usman,
- 24:36Speaker 1: what about you, brother? Furthest I've traveled to for this, uh. OK,
- 24:44Speaker 1: so where do you live?
- 24:45Speaker 1: I live at Jurong Jurong to Changi. Do you ride there,
- 24:49Speaker 1: drive there, take a train, or what? Drive. You drive.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I would love because down there the nasi lemma will
- 24:57Speaker 1: be so nice. The water, especially the chicken, the fried chicken,
- 25:01Speaker 1: crispy which part of Changi is it Changi Village or what?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Changi Village. Alright, thank you so much. What's, what's the store?
- 25:08Speaker 1: I want to take notes now, uh.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Um, I can't remember. It's right in the corner. He's
- 25:13Speaker 1: in the corner when the, the longest queue is.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yes, apply the Singaporean theory. When a hawkert is a
- 25:22Speaker 1: very long queue, must be good. Go and join and
- 25:24Speaker 1: eat the food. Wanna say one more, uh, read one
- 25:27Speaker 1: more text, rather from John coming in. Morning, Joakim. My
- 25:31Speaker 1: dad is that foodie. He never eat or drink even
- 25:35Speaker 1: a cup of coffee at the coffee shop near his
- 25:36Speaker 1: house for more than 30 years till the day he left.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Every meal he's driving to eat.
- 25:42Speaker 1: His favorite breakfast, Zion Road, Hawker Bakuteh and dinner is
- 25:47Speaker 1: two chefs at Commonwealth. He stays at Jurong West. Wow,
- 25:51Speaker 1: that is a drive. Hey, you know what? Thank you
- 25:53Speaker 1: so much for all your calls, texts, and even Instagram
- 25:57Speaker 1: DMs about whether would you travel to extreme ends for
- 26:01Speaker 1: food here in Singapore, and I guess majority said yes.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Some even going to Penang, Malacca just to eat and
- 26:09Speaker 1: then come back. That's the ultimate sign of friendship or
- 26:13Speaker 1: a close-knitted family who says, hey, you know what, let's
- 26:15Speaker 1: just drive. Let's just drive 4 or 5 hours for
- 26:18Speaker 1: the cheese beehoon and come back. But today's winner, I
- 26:22Speaker 1: wanna give it to AT who gave us a very
- 26:26Speaker 1: detailed text earlier on. AT, congratulations.
- 26:31Speaker 1: We're giving you a very nice dining experience to Luce's
- 26:34Speaker 1: Frasier House. It's fusion Italian and maybe, maybe even some
- 26:38Speaker 1: local bites as well. You must try the Frasier House Luka.
- 26:40Speaker 1: There's even the very famous cheese wheel, handmade pasta, and
- 26:45Speaker 1: don't forget, for weekday dining, here is a discount promo code,
- 26:48Speaker 1: Luce 30, L U CE 30, and for weekends, it's
- 26:53Speaker 1: Luce 25, L U CE 25.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Enjoy it, AT. We got 3 more Luche experiences for
- 27:01Speaker 1: you from Wednesday leading up all the way till Friday.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And look, as a football fan, I'm very excited. It's
- 27:08Speaker 1: World Cup season around the corner and of course, next
- 27:11Speaker 1: Sunday or this coming Sunday, it's the final day of
- 27:15Speaker 1: the Premier League and maybe all domestic leagues before, of course,
- 27:19Speaker 1: Arsenal take on Paris Saint-G Germain and of, and yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 1: This Friday, live in our studio, we have two special
- 27:29Speaker 1: guests joining us, courtesy of our friends over at StarHub.
- 27:34Speaker 1: So they're gonna bring on from StarHub, Mr. Yen Korku
- 27:37Speaker 1: to share with us what we can expect on the
- 27:39Speaker 1: final day screenings, but the two guests that will join
- 27:43Speaker 1: him in the studio.
- 27:46Speaker 1: From Manchester United we've got Namania Village and from Chelsea,
- 27:50Speaker 1: Aston Villa, Liverpool, maybe even West Ham as well. We've
- 27:53Speaker 1: got Joe Cole joining us in the studio.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I am truly excited. Both players I was able to
- 28:04Speaker 1: witness in my lifetime watching them play for their respective clubs,
- 28:08Speaker 1: and of course, who can forget Namena Vidic header against Chelsea,
- 28:12Speaker 1: Joe Cole scoring a good goal against Manchester United as well.
- 28:15Speaker 1: We're gonna talk all things football. I do have my
- 28:18Speaker 1: questions lined up for them already. And yes, you heard
- 28:20Speaker 1: it here first on Friday, Nemanja Vidic, Joe Cole, and Mr. Yen.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Pod crew from StarHub. He joins us. They join us
- 28:28Speaker 1: live in the studio and on TikTok at just past
- 28:31Speaker 1: 9 a.m. here on 987. 0, I gotta get Vintage
- 28:36Speaker 1: to sign my menu jersey with all the other signatures
- 28:40Speaker 1: from his colleagues past and present. And earlier I said
- 28:44Speaker 1: this one might hit you right in the childhood and feels.
- 28:48Speaker 1: If you find this theme familiar.
- 28:56Speaker 1: If it said Powerpuff Girls, 100 Cartoon Network points to you,
- 29:01Speaker 1: whatever that means. But unfortunately, as of this morning, I
- 29:05Speaker 1: read that the voice of Professor Newtonium, and if you're
- 29:09Speaker 1: a gamer, and if you play games like Star Wars Battlefront,
- 29:13Speaker 1: Star Wars Battlefront 2, and a lot of Star Wars games,
- 29:16Speaker 1: he was actually the voice of
- 29:18Speaker 1: Yoda Quigon-jin, C-3PO in the Star Wars games itself, but
- 29:24Speaker 1: of course, people would know him best as Professor Newtonium.
- 29:27Speaker 1: The voice actor Tom Kane Roberts has unfortunately passed away
- 29:32Speaker 1: due to complications from a stroke. His management company actually announced.
- 29:37Speaker 1: So yeah, there you go. We lost a good one.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He's at the age, he passed away at the age
- 29:42Speaker 1: of 64. So to Tom, thank you so much for
- 29:45Speaker 1: the gift of all the characters you've voiced, especially for
- 29:49Speaker 1: Professor Newtonium. Chance to hire anyone to sing at my
- 29:54Speaker 1: potential wedding in the near future. I want to call
- 29:57Speaker 1: this guy, Teddy Swims. This man can sing the entire dictionary,
- 30:01Speaker 1: and I'll listen to him do it.
- 30:03Speaker 1: That song called Hammer to the Heart right here on 987,
- 30:05Speaker 1: your number one hit music station. So tonight, if you're
- 30:08Speaker 1: going to the indoor stadium for Leeve, her Matter of
- 30:11Speaker 1: time tour, I cannot wait, people. I love her voice.
- 30:15Speaker 1: She is single-handedly
- 30:18Speaker 1: resurrecting the vinyl industry. She's giving us a sound that
- 30:22Speaker 1: our grandparents might love, the jazz style of music, and
- 30:26Speaker 1: I'm very happy people of this generation actually appreciate her
- 30:29Speaker 1: so much. I call her the modern-day Karen Carpenter. She's talented.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Having seen her perform at Arena Expo and Pasir Panjang
- 30:37Speaker 1: Power Station over the last few years when she made
- 30:40Speaker 1: pit stops here in Singapore,
- 30:42Speaker 1: Finally, a venue fitting of her talent. It's the indoor
- 30:45Speaker 1: stadium over at the Kallang area. So, concert tips, please
- 30:49Speaker 1: make sure you have your tickets on standby. Put your
- 30:52Speaker 1: phone screen to the maximum brightness when scanning the QR
- 30:55Speaker 1: code to go in. So make sure your phones are
- 30:58Speaker 1: fully charged. And you have not 1, not 2, but
- 31:01Speaker 1: 3 MRT stations at your disposal. You have
- 31:05Speaker 1: Kallang on the green line. You have Tanjong R on
- 31:08Speaker 1: the brown line, and you have stadium on, OK, it's
- 31:12Speaker 1: an ongoing debate whether is it the orange or yellow line,
- 31:15Speaker 1: but there you go. Plan your time well, have your
- 31:18Speaker 1: dinners before going over for the concert that begins at
- 31:22Speaker 1: 8 p.m. once again, over at the indoor stadium, and
- 31:25Speaker 1: I cannot wait to hear her do this live as well.
- 31:28Speaker 1: It's Levi.
