A 62-year-old woman, Denise Ethyl Lagou, faces felony charges after a crash in Monticello that left an 84-year-old Vietnam War veteran with serious injuries and his 14-year-old dog dead. Witnesses saw a dark sedan hit the pedestrian, and investigators linked the vehicle—a blue Subaru Forester—to Lagou, who claimed she thought she hit a deer. Surveillance footage shows her arriving at work shortly after the crash, and she told a witness she’d struck something from a truck ahead. Her court date is set for September 18th.
