- 7:42Speaker 3: he's got all in the brass of corner scirs fan
- 7:44Speaker 3: based on his back, and he carries that torch weekeet
- 7:47Speaker 3: a week out, month and a month out year and

- 7:59Speaker 2: gotta find the pocket of time that it's gonna happen
- 8:01Speaker 2: for some stretching and some some work for you or
- 8:04Speaker 2: for the boys, for myself.
- 8:06Speaker 6: What about a masseuse or a chiropractor during the filming
- 8:10Speaker 6: of the Locker Room.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I could I could hit up doctor Foot see if
- 8:17Speaker 2: he wants to come through. I guess adjust the boys.

- 8:22Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody can use some adjusting in their life. Man.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Everybody needs some deep tish, some deep tish going on,
- 8:29Speaker 2: just like Lamar Jackson need some deep tish on that hamstring, yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Because he's got some soft tish right now.
- 8:35Speaker 2: There could be a lot of new viewers tuned in
- 8:37Speaker 2: right now, wondering what are the rules of Spootober. Yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 2: I know we will be leaning heavy into Spooptober. This
- 8:43Speaker 2: bus will be decked out with the theme. We're not
- 8:45Speaker 2: quite there yet.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Chomping at the bit. There's hundreds of supplies outside of
- 8:49Speaker 3: this bus right now waiting to flood in, but we
- 8:51Speaker 3: gotta give September it's due. Knowing that, we don't want
- 8:54Speaker 3: to jump the gun a little bit. But if you
- 8:56Speaker 3: want to dive into Spootober, if you love spoot you
- 8:58Speaker 3: love the idea of the holiday season and everything we
- 9:00Speaker 3: just painted for you, here's a good way to start
- 9:02Speaker 3: your thirty one days, a fright right October thing of
- 9:05Speaker 3: the past. It's now referred to as Spooktober. Yes, that's
- 9:08Speaker 3: number one. Now, this next one is gonna be a
- 9:10Speaker 3: bit of a deal. But if you time it out correctly,
- 9:13Speaker 3: you have a good routine, you're gonna be able to
- 9:15Speaker 3: figure it out every day. Just put something on a
- 9:19Speaker 3: little spooky, okay, and it doesn't have to be a
- 9:22Speaker 3: lot you can go on YouTube and you can find
- 9:25Speaker 3: yourself some fall night sounds as you go to sleep
- 9:29Speaker 3: and there's literally crackling a fire, couple of coyotes or
- 9:32Speaker 3: wolves in the background who do something like that. If
- 9:35Speaker 3: you want to go full into it, Conjures got a
- 9:37Speaker 3: new movie out Weapons that's a nice one. You can
- 9:40Speaker 3: watch any type of spook you want, whether it's you know,
- 9:44Speaker 3: the B rated movies that Delandy Walker likes, if it's
- 9:46Speaker 3: RADARPG thirteen like The Ring, or go ahead, this's like
- 9:50Speaker 3: Nickelodeon's some Disney Channel original movie hocus Pocus is type
- 9:55Speaker 3: of thing. As long as you are embracing thirty one
- 9:58Speaker 3: days of fright and spooktober every single day, then you're
- 10:01Speaker 3: gonna get everything you need out of it. Third, and
- 10:04Speaker 3: this is for you. It's not for me. This is
- 10:06Speaker 3: for you. Make sure you take a little time each
- 10:09Speaker 3: week to do something festive because it's gonna fly by.
- 10:12Speaker 3: We're gonna get to January, February, March, where it's like
- 10:15Speaker 3: depression season. Everyone's a little sad the weather, but there's
- 10:18Speaker 3: not a whole lot to look forward to. So make
- 10:20Speaker 3: go go to a pumpkin patch, give yourself that pumpkin
- 10:23Speaker 3: spice slate hit a haunted house on Friday. My wife
- 10:25Speaker 3: and I every Friday in the fall. When the opportunity
- 10:27Speaker 3: presents itself, she might be coming to Vegas with me
- 10:29Speaker 3: as well. We might hit ourselves in a less little
- 10:31Speaker 3: haunted house in Vegas.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Who knows Halloween activity?
- 10:35Speaker 3: Halloween activity and what's the last one?

- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah I asked it.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Hey, what are the rules of Spooktober?
- 10:49Speaker 3: I love that chat GBT man.
- 10:52Speaker 2: It's a new age that is official. That's legit.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't even know they did that, but BWTV
- 10:57Speaker 3: dot com. I'm wearing a hat right now, Spootober. I'm
- 11:00Speaker 3: wearing a shirt right now. It's Spootober. We got a
- 11:02Speaker 3: bunch of shirts over there that I did on the
- 11:04Speaker 3: on the football recap for Monday and picked up. I'm
- 11:06Speaker 3: not gonna pick it up this time because it's a
- 11:08Speaker 3: little far. It's a little far from me right now.
- 11:10Speaker 2: We got some fun march.
- 11:12Speaker 3: If you're for the Dad's Guy, if you're a pet
- 11:14Speaker 3: six individual, we got some cute, some cute Spootoba stuff,
- 11:18Speaker 3: big pup, little pup.
- 11:19Speaker 2: We embraced it. We embrace it. On our episode coming Out.
- 11:23Speaker 2: As you're listening to this tomorrow morning, we embrace it
- 11:25Speaker 2: a little bit. We talked about the rules. I popped
- 11:27Speaker 2: on the old Bain mask. Yeah. Ready, final couple couple
- 11:31Speaker 2: couple of Bane lines in there.
- 11:33Speaker 3: While we're here, Let's check in on will comference hairline.
- 11:38Speaker 3: It's growing back fast, a lot faster than I was hoping.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It's like a yard in the summer. Boys.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, some patches of brown. Other than that, yeah, pretty
- 11:47Speaker 3: green on the edges.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not bad, coming back strong.
- 11:51Speaker 3: The beard's coming back. Yeah, you're starting to look normal again.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, might have to chop it back down. What's that
- 11:57Speaker 2: could be the new normal? Let's see the Nebraska.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Nebraska bes Michigan state. Is it at the Michigan State?
- 12:03Speaker 2: No, it's at Nebraska.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Oh you get that dub. You might have to bick
- 12:07Speaker 3: it again.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, everything's on the table.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Everything's on the table. Let's get into some tear talk.
- 12:14Speaker 3: You guys have questions, comments, concerns. Use hashtag tear talk.
- 12:17Speaker 3: We put it out every single week. Let's take a
- 12:19Speaker 3: look at Shelby Rice at Shelby s Rice. If you
- 12:22Speaker 3: could live in any TV or movie environment permanently, what
- 12:25Speaker 3: would you choose? That's a fantastic question. I wish I
- 12:28Speaker 3: knew that question before we started the show, because.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I'm right you can think about it.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Live in any TV or movie environment permanently, what would
- 12:37Speaker 3: you choose?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Permanently?
- 12:39Speaker 6: Permanently You're you're stuck there, Harry Potter jumps out at me.
- 12:43Speaker 3: For Taylor, it's a great one. My kids are so
- 12:46Speaker 3: about Harry Potter right now. We are being Harry Potter
- 12:48Speaker 3: for Halloween this year.
- 12:49Speaker 4: For whatever reason, and I don't know why this popped
- 12:51Speaker 4: in my head, I feel like being in sky High
- 12:54Speaker 4: would be kind of sick.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Sky High? What is sky High?
- 12:59Speaker 6: Disney Chant original movie sky High?
- 13:02Speaker 4: Just a high schooler like it's like a superhero all
- 13:04Speaker 4: the high schoolers like.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
- 13:06Speaker 2: It's a fun question.
- 13:07Speaker 3: That's a fun question.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Jurassic Park comes to mind.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Yeah, nothing like running from prehistoric animals.
- 13:13Speaker 2: But permanently we're doing that.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Not dying twenty eight days later sounds pretty good to
- 13:17Speaker 3: me too, you know, constantly fearing for your life.
- 13:20Speaker 2: How about the bad guy? Yeah, free Willie Lion King.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Do I get to be a lion?
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a problem.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I mean you're just saying these these movies and like
- 13:30Speaker 4: they're real animals, Like you do live in that world.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Right, you live in the world. So if we're doing
- 13:34Speaker 3: willis thing, give me the quiet place, let me go
- 13:37Speaker 3: sit there in silences of my life'll learn sign language
- 13:40Speaker 3: my kids see. Quiet place doesn't sound fun to me,
- 13:43Speaker 3: but Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park sounds fund on an island.
- 13:47Speaker 3: And you're sitting there and you like you're in the environment.
- 13:49Speaker 3: You're in the movie now, and you just know everyone's like, look,
- 13:51Speaker 3: how amazing this is all pretty store all they're all gone,
- 13:54Speaker 3: but now we have them back and your thing, yourself,
- 13:56Speaker 3: there's gonna be a problem. And I was like, oh, Will,
- 13:58Speaker 3: you're an AIoT, there's no white you're gonna be able
- 14:00Speaker 3: to do this. And then all of a sudden, a
- 14:03Speaker 3: t rex kills your best friend. Me go, I'm there
- 14:08Speaker 3: with you.
- 14:10Speaker 2: We're in there permanently, meaning we're not gonna die.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I don't think it works like that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: You said permanently, you're living in this world forever. That
- 14:18Speaker 2: is your new world, your new world.
- 14:20Speaker 3: It's your new world.
- 14:21Speaker 4: You can die at any moment, like in this world
- 14:24Speaker 4: strong But I mean, like.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Me, it's a good vibe to live in, a good vibel. Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I was actually just thinking about Hube Halloween. Yeah, Hub
- 14:37Speaker 3: Halloween be a great ONEI TV show.
- 14:40Speaker 1: What about Stranger thinks would be great.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Stranger Things would be a vibe. Yeah.

- 14:53Speaker 6: Wednesday show Tim Britton's Wednesday Shows.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Good Well Wednesday from Adam's Family. Have you all been
- 15:00Speaker 3: watching that No Love? That really about Will Always Yeah,

- 15:10Speaker 2: that one.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Great show, great show, scary.
- 15:13Speaker 3: You know what, I've always kind of wanted to live
- 15:16Speaker 3: through a zombie apocalypse, kind of wanted like I've always
- 15:19Speaker 3: wanted to know how would I fare? And hopefully they're
- 15:21Speaker 3: like the walking not like the running kind.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Of zombies, not the I Am Legend zombie.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah, them boys are way too intense for me, but
- 15:28Speaker 3: kind of going through the process of like walking dead.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, living in that world.
- 15:32Speaker 1: About like the zombies from Last of Us.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Those are Scars.
- 15:38Speaker 3: How about Zombie Land. Got that cast of characters. Let
- 15:41Speaker 3: me get Woody Harrelson, live at the White House for
- 15:43Speaker 3: a little bit, hang out, smoke some cheeks.
- 15:46Speaker 2: With him, live in the Anchorman world forever. That'd be fun,
- 15:50Speaker 2: be fun, be a fun movie to live in permanently.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Tay, I feel like it's kind of surprising you haven't said,
- 15:54Speaker 4: like Wedding Crashers.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Or I see I love that movie in twenty five
- 16:00Speaker 3: year old tailor loves it. But like I'm also living whatever,
- 16:03Speaker 3: whatever movie or TV show I'm going on, bringing my
- 16:05Speaker 3: wife and kids.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but like you're best friends.
- 16:07Speaker 3: With I'm with you. Internship internship. Internship would be fun
- 16:17Speaker 3: working at Google and working at Google for a little bit. Literally,
- 16:20Speaker 3: if you want to know Will and I's life in
- 16:23Speaker 3: an alternate universe, it would probably be the internship. And
- 16:26Speaker 3: it'd be me as Vince Fawn and Willis Owen Wilson,
- 16:28Speaker 3: who Will kind of like figures it out faster than me,
- 16:31Speaker 3: and I kind of let the team down a little
- 16:32Speaker 3: bit and I got to study overnight to get it done.
- 16:34Speaker 3: But I don't click the button. But then eventually, hey,
- 16:36Speaker 3: we need Taylor for sales, and I handle business.
- 16:40Speaker 5: And you you have a nice little Harry Potter reference
- 16:43Speaker 5: with the quidditch match.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Yeah. I think at the end of the day we could.
- 16:47Speaker 3: If I could be a wizard, my kids would have
- 16:50Speaker 3: so much more respect for me.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I feel like that's the only answers that.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Might be the only answer.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Living in a world forever? Maybe how to train your dragon?
- 16:58Speaker 6: Can die?
- 17:00Speaker 2: And got a dragon you're riding on?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Well, have you seen all the movies?
- 17:05Speaker 2: Uh?
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yeah, so you don't have a dragon forever? Well not forever,
- 17:10Speaker 3: but eventually you're just a Viking.
- 17:12Speaker 2: You're still in the world.
- 17:13Speaker 1: True, that possibility is a thing.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Game of Thrones, maybe trying to take over the Seven Kingdoms?
- 17:19Speaker 4: Yeah, but you got the White Walkers.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but maybe I'm a White Walker.
- 17:24Speaker 1: That doesn't sound fun.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Have you started Game of Thrones yet?
- 17:28Speaker 3: I've seen two episodes. There's too many storylines. My brain
- 17:30Speaker 3: couldn't handle it couldn't handle it. Let's go to mister
- 17:34Speaker 3: James at the Mister James eight Friday Night Lights. Not
- 17:38Speaker 3: a football take, but what is better Southern hospitality or
- 17:41Speaker 3: Midwest politeness. It's a great question. That is a question,
- 17:46Speaker 3: A great question. I thought to my wife about this
- 17:49Speaker 3: the other day, and I told her straight up, I
- 17:51Speaker 3: was like, the older I get, I think, the more
- 17:53Speaker 3: I realized the greatest place to raise a family might
- 17:55Speaker 3: be the Midwest. It might be the Midwest. Something about
- 17:59Speaker 3: just you know, construction and winter are your seasons? Keeping
- 18:05Speaker 3: it simple, kiss method, always homegrown, blue collar. Something beautiful
- 18:12Speaker 3: about that.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, something I grew up in Midwest boy.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Midwest boy. Yeah, I grew up out west.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Didn't know the good people in the Midwest, good people
- 18:22Speaker 2: out there.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Where's the last place you would want to raise your family?
- 18:26Speaker 3: Last place I want to raise my family? La. Yeah,
- 18:32Speaker 3: I was born in Sacramento.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Sacramento is a great spot.
- 18:36Speaker 2: New Mexico, New Mexico.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah, New Mexico wouldn't be cool if you're geting me
- 18:40Speaker 3: in New Mexican. Miles a good Arizona so much better.
- 18:42Speaker 4: I meant more so, like regionally to raise my kids,
- 18:49Speaker 4: I would venture to say the Northeast.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I'd adventure to say the Northwest. You know what I'm saying.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Northeast. I feel like you're
- 19:00Speaker 1: especially in Jersey.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, But I also think, like think about
- 19:04Speaker 3: Rhode Island. Think about Vermont, think about Delaware, like those
- 19:08Speaker 3: little kind of like small town kind of fun, little
- 19:12Speaker 3: like beach towns you have. You have harsh winners, but
- 19:17Speaker 3: like your summers are beautiful, Nantucket kind of area. It's like, yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 3: a lot of money here, but it's really cool, have
- 19:22Speaker 3: a good time.
- 19:23Speaker 4: I'm saying, like you think Jersey New York, and like
- 19:25Speaker 4: I have a bunch of friends from Jersey New York.
- 19:27Speaker 4: So I'm not talking about these guys, but like majority
- 19:31Speaker 4: kind of dickheads.
- 19:31Speaker 2: And I'd rather be Northwest and northeast.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I also think there's a piece of me that's extremely
- 19:37Speaker 3: curious about living in a major city like New York.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I obviously I'm at the point where I never will,
- 19:43Speaker 3: but every time we fly to New York, I always
- 19:45Speaker 3: walk around like, man, how do they do it? Like
- 19:47Speaker 3: this is so everyone's on top of each other. I'm
- 19:50Speaker 3: sure you get into a little routine, but I'm sure
- 19:51Speaker 3: it could be fun too, you know, ripping around kind
- 19:55Speaker 3: of staying in your little pocket the whole time, venturing
- 19:57Speaker 3: out every once in a while. So something like, oh,
- 19:58Speaker 3: that's really cool. Down your pocket just got a little bit.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Everyone lives like yeah, but all those people man, I'm
- 20:04Speaker 3: with you.
- 20:04Speaker 5: Talk with the Jared Demon when y'all go to Vegas
- 20:07Speaker 5: about He has a really good take, interesting take on
- 20:10Speaker 5: New York City.
- 20:11Speaker 6: He lived and worked there.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Jack lived in New York as well.
- 20:15Speaker 6: Mick Pherson.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, two different people, two different people.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Jared hates it.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, did he takes me somebody who'd hate it? I
- 20:23Speaker 2: think outline more with Jared too. Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I think I think it would be really fun for
- 20:26Speaker 3: like a quarter of the year, like go three months, Like, hey,
- 20:30Speaker 3: you're gonna be here for three months. I think that's
- 20:32Speaker 3: enough of a sample size to have fun and realize
- 20:34Speaker 3: there's something at the end, because I know I know
- 20:36Speaker 3: a few people that live in New York that swear
- 20:37Speaker 3: by it, like this is the best. I love it.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I wouldn't. I'll never leave. It's like, good on you,
- 20:43Speaker 3: good on you.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Man.
- 20:43Speaker 5: I was there for three weeks working on a movie set,
- 20:47Speaker 5: and the just the laundry situation was enough that I
- 20:52Speaker 5: was like, I would never live here. I'd have to
- 20:55Speaker 5: carry a Duffel bag almost two blocks just to do
- 20:58Speaker 5: my laundry.
- 20:59Speaker 2: And people are like carrying their grocer's home and ship.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it was rough carrying your grocer's home.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Give me a yard, some space.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but number one spot. I wouldn't want to raise
- 21:10Speaker 3: my kiss by in La, would not would not out
- 21:14Speaker 3: on La. Sitting out for San Diego. You can sell
- 21:19Speaker 3: me on San Diego?
- 21:20Speaker 1: Do you even need selling?
- 21:22Speaker 3: Taxes? Taxes and tossed the living. That's the only thing
- 21:25Speaker 3: really holding me back. Body can't beat it. Incannita's Locadia
- 21:32Speaker 3: so nice. Oh not my real name? Here to see
- 21:35Speaker 3: you will again?
- 21:36Speaker 2: Uh not my real name? Hashtag tear talk, Will Compton
- 21:39Speaker 2: calling you a fucking loser on a livestream. Good your
- 21:42Speaker 2: idols becoming rivals. Good, still buying merchandise to show them
- 21:46Speaker 2: you can't be phased. Good? Love the show guys. How
- 21:49Speaker 2: demoralizing was the news to Nebraska fans that Blake Korm
- 21:52Speaker 2: is expecting a child. Congratulates the Blake Worm joining Papa
- 21:58Speaker 2: Team six under the show. Just accomplish buds training.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, shut up, Blake Man, good kid, good guy.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Seems like he's having himself a nice little he'starting to
- 22:08Speaker 3: figure himself out the rams a little bit, have a
- 22:10Speaker 3: good time splitting carries, but still having success. Love to
- 22:14Speaker 3: see it, Yeah, love to see it Josh Dorsey at
- 22:19Speaker 3: j Underscore Dorsey three. Have you guys thought about taking
- 22:22Speaker 3: your show on the road and doing a live show
- 22:25Speaker 3: with live audience?
- 22:26Speaker 2: Man?
- 22:27Speaker 3: What a thought? Josh, Hey will for the bust and ball?
- 22:30Speaker 3: Where were we?
- 22:33Speaker 2: We don't got to pat him on the head.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Where were we?
- 22:36Speaker 3: Will?
- 22:36Speaker 2: We were in Linking, Nebraska doing a live.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Show at what what? How many people were there? Hundred
- 22:43Speaker 3: seven one hundred people? So yeah, we found about it, Josh.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Yeah, spring tour two years ago. That's what we did
- 22:50Speaker 1: at every stop?
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yeah, every stop A lot of life. Thank you for
- 22:54Speaker 3: dropping a hashtag to your talk josh U kat at
- 22:59Speaker 3: K Kyle tay Alor says what happens or is talked
- 23:05Speaker 3: about in a player's only meeting hashtag tear talk. I'm
- 23:07Speaker 3: gonna break this down for your real quick budd unless
- 23:09Speaker 3: will you got anything?
- 23:10Speaker 2: Ah, stinky kind they're kind of weird. Yeah, players only
- 23:15Speaker 2: meetings are kind of weird. I kind of. It kind
- 23:17Speaker 2: of depends on the situation.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Honestly, to me, it's one guy gets up and talks,
- 23:23Speaker 3: and he's a captain, and then there's five other captains
- 23:27Speaker 3: who come up and say the same thing. The first
- 23:28Speaker 3: captain said in their own words, not a whole lot
- 23:33Speaker 3: is thought out other than we got to get our
- 23:36Speaker 3: shit right. And there's never a player's only meeting when
- 23:38Speaker 3: you're undefeated or doing well, and it's like if you're
- 23:42Speaker 3: gonna have those looking back on, it's like, guys, let's
- 23:46Speaker 3: kind of think about what we're gonna say before we
- 23:48Speaker 3: say it. That's all I have.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I second that. It is how it
- 23:54Speaker 2: feels a lot of the time unless you get them
- 23:56Speaker 2: players only meetings that happens and somebody's just getting violent
- 23:59Speaker 2: with the way that they're delivering the words. That's why
- 24:01Speaker 2: it's kind of like a wait mail call. Like Lendon
- 24:03Speaker 2: Fletcher one time we had up like a player's only meeting,
- 24:05Speaker 2: and he was just getting after everybody, and it was
- 24:07Speaker 2: kind of like I felt like a real a real
- 24:10Speaker 2: player's only meeting. Ones that you would think about are
- 24:12Speaker 2: specially Oh man, they had a player's only meeting. I
- 24:14Speaker 2: wonder what went down there.
- 24:16Speaker 5: I can't remember which one of y'all said this, but
- 24:18Speaker 5: it was such a fantastic quote. Of every player's meeting,
- 24:21Speaker 5: there's always that one guy that stands up to start talking,
- 24:24Speaker 5: and there's almost just an audible Oh my god, what
- 24:28Speaker 5: is he doing just before he even start.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Telling when you look around, Oh shit about Glen? Hashtag
- 24:36Speaker 2: tier talk from Peyton Underscore PW thirteen Underscore. Could Will
- 24:41Speaker 2: and Taylor do a Dog of the Week segment where
- 24:44Speaker 2: each of them picks a favorite uh, picks a college
- 24:46Speaker 2: hole player from their own position from any team. Would
- 24:49Speaker 2: love to see Will juicing up some linebackers we've never
- 24:51Speaker 2: heard of. That would be fun, but you gotta pay
- 24:55Speaker 2: a lot of money to get the rights to like footage.
- 24:59Speaker 2: It would be college or the NFL. We got a
- 25:01Speaker 2: couple quotes. They are high, they are expensive.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we can do our New Set of Downs segment. First,
- 25:09Speaker 3: Fresh Set of Downs.
- 25:10Speaker 6: Which is very similar what he just described.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Right, Basically, Fresh Set of Downs a spotlighting somebody who's
- 25:16Speaker 3: transferred in the transferport wasn't playing well or wasn't getting
- 25:19Speaker 3: enough of work. They're burying their depth chart a little bit.
- 25:21Speaker 3: They ended up getting a quote fresh set of Downs,
- 25:24Speaker 3: going to a new team and have a lot of success.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I think we're gonna do this for the next few weeks.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I actually love the idea and our guy that we're
- 25:31Speaker 3: gonna highlight this week. Is Michigan's own Justice. Hayes two
- 25:34Speaker 3: years at Bama, he played twenty five games. He had
- 25:36Speaker 3: one hundred and four carries for six hundred and sixteen
- 25:38Speaker 3: yards and nine t ds. Decides, hey, that's not enough.
- 25:40Speaker 3: He's splitting carries. Last year, Calen de Bores, first year
- 25:43Speaker 3: comes to Michigan. I'm very excited about it. We get
- 25:46Speaker 3: to learn about him and the way he operates, how
- 25:49Speaker 3: he attacks every single week. He's about sleep, he's about
- 25:52Speaker 3: Biohacking's about what he puts in his body. And it's
- 25:54Speaker 3: shown quite a bit because in four games in Michigan
- 25:56Speaker 3: he's had sixty six carries, three hundred and thirty seven
- 26:00Speaker 3: five hundred and thirty seven yards, six touchdowns. He's got
- 26:03Speaker 3: over one hundred yards in every game and a TD
- 26:06Speaker 3: this year so far. So thank you, Alabama. We'll have
- 26:10Speaker 3: another right look at you there. You got a couple
- 26:13Speaker 3: of studs. Yeah, I was watching Alabama Georgia kind of
- 26:15Speaker 3: whispering over to g F them's I'll take that guy.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I'll take that guy. Like buddy, you never have a
- 26:21Speaker 3: shortage of talent with the Alabama Crimson time. I'm as
- 26:23Speaker 3: lucky this guy's in the amazing blue right now. He
- 26:25Speaker 3: is incredible, And like, I know this guy Marshall. We'vet
- 26:29Speaker 3: Jordan Marshall. We have, We've had him. You know, he's
- 26:31Speaker 3: homegrown Michigan boy. But we got ourselves a nice little
- 26:34Speaker 3: double headed monster over there at the University of Michigan
- 26:37Speaker 3: right now in the running game and they're coming along off.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Its line is getting a whole lot better, which is
- 26:41Speaker 3: awesome to see. So shout out Justice Hayes, fresh set
- 26:43Speaker 3: of downs. Love it for the young man man. That's awesome.
- 26:47Speaker 3: We should do a different segment as well, a.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Shoutout no Free, shoutout, shout out no Free, shout out
- 26:52Speaker 2: to uh Chad Powers, Shad Powers.
- 26:54Speaker 3: And I'm gonna take a quick I'm gonna clap. I'm
- 26:56Speaker 3: gonna clap again. We're gonna come back on our clothes.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Oh wow, look at that. We've changed clothes already. If
- 27:00Speaker 3: you're listening audio, we are wearing Chad Powers two hundred
- 27:04Speaker 3: T shirts. Will he looked fantastic.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Chad Powers is funny.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Yeah, So shout out Hulu, shout out Disney. They were
- 27:14Speaker 3: They have allowed us to see these episodes a little
- 27:17Speaker 3: bit early. We've watched episodes one and two so far,
- 27:20Speaker 3: And if you don't know anything about Chad Powers, here's
- 27:23Speaker 3: basically the backstory of Chad Powers. Eli Manning had a
- 27:26Speaker 3: segment called Eli's Places. He ended up going undercover, a
- 27:29Speaker 3: bunch of makeup on mole in the face, wig walks
- 27:32Speaker 3: into a tryout, Right was it Penn State? My thinking
- 27:35Speaker 3: about Penn State? CUsing to Penn State trial. Obviously the
- 27:38Speaker 3: coaching staff and everybody on the back end knew about it.
- 27:41Speaker 3: He goes in and ends up dicing up with these
- 27:43Speaker 3: other players who are a part of the trial, Like
- 27:44Speaker 3: who the fuck is this guy? Turns out to be
- 27:47Speaker 3: Eli Manning, And in true Manning fashion, like they see
- 27:51Speaker 3: the opportunity, they end up making a show about it.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Where Glenn Powell he is. He is the star of
- 27:56Speaker 3: this show. And I love this segment Eli Manning and
- 27:59Speaker 3: going into it full trance. Fancy going into watching these episodes.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I'm thinking to myself, how the fuck are they going
- 28:04Speaker 3: to be able to go from this guy's a studs,
- 28:08Speaker 3: he's undercover? Now, how does it all work? Seamless transition,
- 28:12Speaker 3: seamless And I can't clump you can tell me. I
- 28:15Speaker 3: can't give away any spoilers.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Correct, we can give away spoilers.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Episodes one and two are streaming now. Okay, episode we
- 28:21Speaker 3: are going to.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Give spoilers away. So if you don't want spoilers, don't.
- 28:25Speaker 3: If you don't want spoilers, don't listen. The first episode,
- 28:27Speaker 3: man starts with a bang. Right, this Chad Powers. What's
- 28:31Speaker 3: his name in the show? Just to his name is Holiday.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Just it is a good show. I share the same sentiment.
- 28:39Speaker 2: It's kind of like, are they really just gonna try
- 28:41Speaker 2: and like beat a dead horse or force fetus a
- 28:43Speaker 2: Chad Powers show? But it is funny. Yeah, it is funny.
- 28:48Speaker 3: And it's got like it's got very much like I
- 28:51Speaker 3: don't know if it's Blue Mountain State I'm trying to
- 28:53Speaker 3: look for right now. But there's a certain level of
- 28:55Speaker 3: like adult humor that goes into it. Yeah, that like
- 28:58Speaker 3: Glenn Powell does a great job of like transition. Because
- 29:01Speaker 3: here's what happens. First episode shows this guy Russ Holiday,
- 29:05Speaker 3: you know, arrogant Oregon Ducks quarterback. He's in the National Championship.
- 29:08Speaker 3: He runs on fourth and whatever puts those the ball
- 29:11Speaker 3: down before the goal line. Something we've seen all the
- 29:14Speaker 3: time in the NFL. Now and so it was a score,
- 29:16Speaker 3: but then it wasn't a score. They call it back
- 29:17Speaker 3: and the end up losing the championship game. He ends
- 29:20Speaker 3: up swinging on a cat uh and knocks over a
- 29:22Speaker 3: kid with cancer, and then it fast forwards. The eight
- 29:25Speaker 3: years later is so funny. It is It is hilarious
- 29:29Speaker 3: and fascinating.
- 29:32Speaker 2: My figure still my favorite player. Yeah, that's like, hey,
- 29:34Speaker 2: can you just take a picture with my kid?
- 29:36Speaker 3: I don't give a shit about the kid, and it's
- 29:37Speaker 3: like a dude, it's they shown hits him and dad
- 29:40Speaker 3: falls into the kid and they go in like eight
- 29:43Speaker 3: years later, he's like in la, his dad is this
- 29:46Speaker 3: like uh, like a makeup artist, like this worlding out
- 29:50Speaker 3: makeup artist, which really help helps sell the point of
- 29:52Speaker 3: him like transitioning into you know this like fake guy
- 29:55Speaker 3: that ends up going to a different school or whatever.
- 29:57Speaker 3: But he has his XFL contract. Then of a sudden,
- 30:00Speaker 3: there's eight year reunion of the callback of the him
- 30:04Speaker 3: punching guy that falls into a kid with cancer. XFL
- 30:06Speaker 3: pulls his contract and so he gets a wild hair
- 30:09Speaker 3: posass and then up.
- 30:11Speaker 2: The kid passes. Oh. They announce like he's like he's
- 30:14Speaker 2: getting this deal with the XFL. He's fired up there
- 30:17Speaker 2: listening like all this stuff, like the entertainment is pretty funny.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And they're in this club and then that's like he's
- 30:23Speaker 2: going to the bathroom and he just sees this tweet
- 30:25Speaker 2: put up like kid that you know, uh, what's this.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Russ Holliday is known for Kid passed Away. Kid dies
- 30:33Speaker 2: from cancer and his agent drops him, and so he's
- 30:37Speaker 2: trying to figure out what to do. He's at the
- 30:39Speaker 2: lowest of lows. He's like all of us sitting there
- 30:41Speaker 2: when the game's just over if you like lose a
- 30:44Speaker 2: state title or national chair. He's like sitting in his
- 30:46Speaker 2: room drinking, doing all these things, and he gets his
- 30:48Speaker 2: wild hair. He sees his open tryout for Southern Georgia.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Southern Georgia, Southern Georgia Catfish.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and he just gets his wild hair to like,
- 30:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna go rejuvenate my career through like you know,
- 31:00Speaker 2: going and walking on at this spot, like wearing makeup
- 31:03Speaker 2: using his dad's like tools, since he's a makeup artist
- 31:05Speaker 2: for all these big Hollywood movies. And he starts like
- 31:09Speaker 2: working out and he gets another funny parties when he's
- 31:11Speaker 2: on his phone with his dad. He's like, Dad, He's like,
- 31:14Speaker 2: I got something kind of big that's coming. They could
- 31:18Speaker 2: be really proud of me. And his dad's like, did
- 31:20Speaker 2: you just quote Armageddon to me? Yeah?
- 31:23Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but he says I worked on that movie.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, And dude, it's uh. I encourage you
- 31:31Speaker 2: all to watch it. It's a good watch. It's funny.
- 31:34Speaker 2: It's well done, like getting Fouler and Herbstreet in for
- 31:37Speaker 2: calling the game when they play that organ like you're
- 31:40Speaker 2: always like anybody who like loves ball, you're like weirdly uh,
- 31:44Speaker 2: with a critical eye watching how they put together like
- 31:47Speaker 2: plays that's happening, like moments that's happening. They do a
- 31:49Speaker 2: real good job, like you're watching it on TV. But
- 31:52Speaker 2: it's a good watch. It's fun It is funny. Him
- 31:55Speaker 2: trying to like find his voice.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Right, him trying to find his voice, him trying to
- 31:59Speaker 3: tell the story where he's from, ends up being from
- 32:01Speaker 3: West Virginia, Like, hey, we couldn't find a whole lot
- 32:03Speaker 3: of filming. It's like, yeah, it was a wolf mating
- 32:04Speaker 3: season and.
- 32:05Speaker 2: People were did you ever play in a crowd? It
- 32:07Speaker 2: depends depends on what he's like. Wolves. Wolves they come
- 32:12Speaker 2: and get your babes.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Yeah, people just would show up or not based on
- 32:15Speaker 3: wolves just hilarious. And him going in and out of
- 32:20Speaker 3: being Russ Holliday and Chad Powers is just fucking hilarious. Also,
- 32:25Speaker 3: the thing I love too is this head coach for
- 32:27Speaker 3: the Georgia State Catfish. He is. You can see a
- 32:31Speaker 3: great story art coming with him. Yeah, the daughter of
- 32:34Speaker 3: the head coach. There's a great story. I'm assuming it's
- 32:37Speaker 3: gonna be a love interest with Russ Holiday eventually. Yeah,
- 32:40Speaker 3: but it's just like the show's good and you know,
- 32:43Speaker 3: like we both said it, no idea what to think,
- 32:46Speaker 3: but it is hilarious.
- 32:48Speaker 2: And again say it's Russ what Russ Holliday. He's like
- 32:51Speaker 2: this a douchebag, got this arrogance to him. You'll see it.
- 32:55Speaker 2: And he like comes across this this mascot. The mascot
- 32:58Speaker 2: ends up spraying with Mace because he thinks he's like
- 33:00Speaker 2: a school shooter dress in his get up. They meet
- 33:03Speaker 2: in this mascot is trying to like he's kind of
- 33:05Speaker 2: his like mentor in this hero's journey of trying to
- 33:09Speaker 2: get him like, hey, leave the Russ Holiday douchebaggery aside.
- 33:13Speaker 2: You have to create this new character if you're really
- 33:15Speaker 2: going to sell yourself and be a leader of this team.
- 33:17Speaker 2: So Chad Powers is really trying to battle with being
- 33:20Speaker 2: a douchebag, being this arrogant asshole because he he's not
- 33:22Speaker 2: like the starting quarterback, which is like a reality check
- 33:25Speaker 2: for him, and uh, dude, it's it's good man. The
- 33:28Speaker 2: backup quarterback is like my favorite he's my favorite character
- 33:31Speaker 2: right now.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he's funny.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Man.
- 33:33Speaker 2: He's like what I got here an hour or two
- 33:35Speaker 2: before he gets some sprints in punishment.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I love how the scene where he's walking with Chad
- 33:41Speaker 3: Powers and he's like, hey, give us a minute. He's
- 33:43Speaker 3: like yes, sir, and this turns around sprints the other way,
- 33:45Speaker 3: and then the coach is like walking off the field
- 33:47Speaker 3: and the quarterback starts running and I was like, oh,
- 33:49Speaker 3: what the fuck gets all scared of him?
- 33:51Speaker 2: Dude.
- 33:51Speaker 3: It's funny.
- 33:53Speaker 2: And with the makeup and the mask and the rubber
- 33:55Speaker 2: and everything else, there's like moments with him like doctoring
- 33:58Speaker 2: up towards like you know, there's the fly on the
- 34:00Speaker 2: and he's like, dude's like you gotta fly in your face.
- 34:01Speaker 2: And it's like crawling around but also growing yeah, but
- 34:05Speaker 2: since he's like, you know, since he's trying to immerse himself,
- 34:07Speaker 2: like as a teammate, you can't get the mask and
- 34:11Speaker 2: anything and everything wet. So like post practice when they're
- 34:14Speaker 2: all showering and he's kind of sitting there and coaches
- 34:16Speaker 2: asking why he's not getting the showers, She's like, oh,
- 34:18Speaker 2: you know, my p holes to baby, he's just like
- 34:20Speaker 2: making up stories. Then they have this cookout, you know,
- 34:23Speaker 2: with the team at the head coach's house and they're
- 34:25Speaker 2: doing like this water water balloon fight. They're all in
- 34:27Speaker 2: the pool. He never gets in the pool, so you
- 34:29Speaker 2: think he's weird for not getting in the pool. Then
- 34:31Speaker 2: he does this water balloon fight and he's trying to
- 34:32Speaker 2: get this water out of his mask because the head
- 34:34Speaker 2: coach wants to go see him. Then when the mask
- 34:36Speaker 2: kind of breaks and he's like are you crying, and
- 34:39Speaker 2: the mass kind of pops his.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Cheeks, he just takes running out of the woods.
- 34:45Speaker 2: He's like, I think he's just a man of the woods.
- 34:48Speaker 3: He's talking to his daughter and he's like, hey, he
- 34:50Speaker 3: just ran in the woids your eyes. She's like, I
- 34:51Speaker 3: think he just he just loves the woods.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he loves the woods because he shows
- 34:55Speaker 2: he shows up. He shows up to the party like,
- 34:59Speaker 2: you know, parking his test slow, like in the woods,
- 35:01Speaker 2: and then coming out of the woods. She's like, you
- 35:02Speaker 2: just come out of the woods.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Yeah, if you think about it, we all came from
- 35:05Speaker 3: the woods.
- 35:08Speaker 2: And then when he's talking to the like the big booster,
- 35:11Speaker 2: the gallon, the kitchen, I can't have to leave. I
- 35:13Speaker 2: can't be within one hundred feet of a of a
- 35:15Speaker 2: female alone or something like that. Here's my purity. She's like,
- 35:19Speaker 2: what the fuck? It is?
- 35:20Speaker 3: Funny man, Glenn Powell does a great job these first jepisode, Like,
- 35:24Speaker 3: I'm excited to watch that third and fourth episode because
- 35:27Speaker 3: it is quality.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Man.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we feel good. Go laugh. I'm laughing. I'm
- 35:32Speaker 2: watching it alone and I'm laughing out loud at some
- 35:35Speaker 2: of the one liners he comes up with where he's
- 35:37Speaker 2: like what do you say? He was like, I just
- 35:40Speaker 2: where he's like just flesh. They're like asking him if
- 35:43Speaker 2: he's like a male or female or something like that.
- 35:48Speaker 2: He has this line like it's just just's flesh.
- 35:51Speaker 3: What does he say? I don't know.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I got to write these one liners down.
- 35:55Speaker 3: It's good, but uh, Hulu's Chad Powers will premiere Tuesday,
- 35:58Speaker 3: September thirtieth, with they two episode launch. New episode stream
- 36:02Speaker 3: weekly on Tuesdays. So if you're watching the show now
- 36:06Speaker 3: at six a m. Just no, it's out there right now.

- 36:11Speaker 3: just told you the whole entire first three episodes.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, how old are you? How old anybody COVID?
- 36:16Speaker 3: COVID?
- 36:16Speaker 1: You have COVID?
- 36:18Speaker 2: You know, I'm old enough, but not still young enough?
- 36:20Speaker 2: You know cod are he's sitting with the coach, you
- 36:26Speaker 2: have COVID? No, no, no, when.
- 36:28Speaker 3: He's sitting with the coach at the dock, but before
- 36:30Speaker 3: the coach tells him he's gonna be the backup quarterback,
- 36:32Speaker 3: and he's like, you know what's really hurt? I had
- 36:33Speaker 3: a bunch of hard issues. You know what the problem was?
- 36:35Speaker 3: The vaccine? He doesn't know? Well maybe, And it's so
- 36:42Speaker 3: funny too, because it's Russ Holiday guys, big conspiracy theorists
- 36:45Speaker 3: like big Douche Like, it's so funny, man, it is.
- 36:49Speaker 3: It is hilarious. Yeah, it's it's out Tuesdays.
- 36:54Speaker 2: That's tomorrow technically right now.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Yeah, watching that, buddy, you will you will love it.
- 37:01Speaker 3: You will love it. It's yeah, it's blue Mountain state.
- 37:03Speaker 3: It's suresy. It's like kind of got all this Like.
- 37:06Speaker 2: You have to watch you because you'll remember all these
- 37:08Speaker 2: these one liars and quotes that we're talking about.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you will appreciate it.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Hey, the the backup que actually gives me a shir
- 37:14Speaker 2: and vibe.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Is.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just happy, go lucky.
- 37:22Speaker 3: When they're sitting there, chick his hand.
- 37:27Speaker 2: That's the number one of our receiver. Yeah, we have
- 37:29Speaker 2: a really good relationship. And then the wide receivers like
- 37:31Speaker 2: give him the pussy sign. He's like that he's calling
- 37:33Speaker 2: me a pussy. He's like, no, I think he thinks
- 37:35Speaker 2: I get a lot of pussy. They talk about him
- 37:39Speaker 2: swimming and he just does like a back dive into
- 37:41Speaker 2: the water.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, what does he say? Like, it's like that's true,
- 37:46Speaker 3: like does like a bad Yeah, there's ultimate optimist guy.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Nothing fazes him when he fucking steals the balloon and
- 37:54Speaker 3: starts dicing up everybody in the water bloom fight, and
- 37:57Speaker 3: then he goes suck my clipboard, bitch on top of
- 37:59Speaker 3: d quarterback. It's fucking good man, it's good. That is
- 38:05Speaker 3: you know what's go back to a real offense. We're
- 38:07Speaker 3: back a good more tear talks. We'll be on our
- 38:10Speaker 3: way to zich Bro. Let's do one or two more.
- 38:12Speaker 3: This is D three walk on at z T three
- 38:16Speaker 3: seven five eight. Hashtag tear talk is getting that first
- 38:20Speaker 3: loss early in the season benefit at program, Look at
- 38:22Speaker 3: Alabama since Florida State. Yeah, I mean Josh Pate brought
- 38:26Speaker 3: this up on the Locker Room this past week, which
- 38:29Speaker 3: comes out every Wednesday at six pm, the College Football Edition,
- 38:31Speaker 3: and it says when you get when you get early loss,
- 38:35Speaker 3: it gives you a chance of course, correct, taste your
- 38:38Speaker 3: own blood. Understand you're not invincible. So when you get
- 38:41Speaker 3: later in the season, you have these big games, you
- 38:43Speaker 3: know what it's like to hurt. So he keeps you
- 38:45Speaker 3: moving forward. So I think that was a big dub
- 38:48Speaker 3: for Alabama early in the season to catch a l early.
- 38:52Speaker 3: So you can keep moving forward now because they seem
- 38:54Speaker 3: like the doomed to beat in the SEC.
- 38:56Speaker 2: And watch you slowly but surely, watch not a dame
- 38:59Speaker 2: start to climb. I'm the polls. Yeah. Week at a time,
- 39:02Speaker 2: two losses.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Started to two still in the y AP T five.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Uh what is sure.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I'm saying here, just chime in. Sure you have something
- 39:13Speaker 2: to say, you can sometimes you can just chime in.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Right, especially on Tuesdays.
- 39:16Speaker 5: It helps with the CFP rankings. I feel like the
- 39:19Speaker 5: CFP Commission, the voters, they usually they kind of tend
- 39:24Speaker 5: to forget about those week one, week two, week three losses.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Absolutely, it seems like they forget to watch a lot
- 39:30Speaker 3: of football games too. Yeah, yeah, I want to do
- 39:34Speaker 3: one more.
- 39:36Speaker 6: That was it.
- 39:36Speaker 2: That was it.

- 43:31Speaker 3: let's you came in bearing gifts. I found out you're
- 43:33Speaker 3: a blacksmith. Yes, sir, what is like? We can get
- 43:36Speaker 3: into music. We'll talk about all of that, but I
- 43:38Speaker 3: want to talk about your hobbies right now. Came in
- 43:40Speaker 3: with this cool case, floats plays music, keeps your phone nice. Yeah,
- 43:44Speaker 3: but then you started putting out this little blade on
- 43:45Speaker 3: me right now? What is this device?
- 43:48Speaker 1: Yeah? So this is a demer box. So the guy
- 43:51Speaker 1: James Deamer worked on the set of the show Survivor,
- 43:54Speaker 1: and he had to carry pelican cases to keep all
- 43:56Speaker 1: this stuff dry because it's humid and wet and all that.
- 43:58Speaker 1: And then he installed speakers in it. So then he
- 44:02Speaker 1: started making some of these and put them on Amazon.
- 44:04Speaker 1: While I got a hold of it and I was like, dude,
- 44:06Speaker 1: this is such a problem solver for me because I
- 44:10Speaker 1: do some pretty high adventure you know. I spearfishing is
- 44:13Speaker 1: my favorite thing in the world to do a free dive, spearfish,
- 44:16Speaker 1: I bow hunt a lot of the adventures that I
- 44:18Speaker 1: go on and do. I need something to keep all
- 44:21Speaker 1: my gear safe, even going to the beach, like writing.
- 44:24Speaker 1: So this is a forty hour bluetooth speaker. It's loud,
- 44:28Speaker 1: it's like a base cabinet, and then when you open it,
- 44:31Speaker 1: it's a legit Pelican case. It's got a purge val
- 44:33Speaker 1: so it doesn't lock down if you fly with it
- 44:35Speaker 1: and get air trapped in it. It's got a phone
- 44:37Speaker 1: charger on the inside. You take this plug and put
- 44:40Speaker 1: it in the lid, and now it's fully waterproof and
- 44:42Speaker 1: you can float it down the river with you and
- 44:44Speaker 1: play your tunes. Or you can use as a predator
- 44:46Speaker 1: call box, like if you're up in a stand, you
- 44:48Speaker 1: can put this one hundred feet away in the woods
- 44:49Speaker 1: and have a rabbit call or Cayo call or something.
- 44:52Speaker 3: So much more of aman than us, you know about
- 44:55Speaker 3: some rabbit calls? Yeah, have you so big? Your fisherman?
- 45:01Speaker 1: My favorite that is unbelievabavorite thing in the world to do.
- 45:03Speaker 2: A question I have with that how long can you
- 45:05Speaker 2: hold your breath?
- 45:05Speaker 1: That was going to be the question was four thirty seven?
- 45:08Speaker 1: Is the best static just sitting still?
- 45:11Speaker 3: You know, prove it.
- 45:12Speaker 1: But I could show you in ten minutes how you
- 45:16Speaker 1: can double your breath hold, really show you.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Is it like the hyperventilating you got to like it's
- 45:21Speaker 3: all the Well, yeah.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Brian Peters was doing it that one time when we
- 45:26Speaker 2: were doing a little pool thing at your house.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Well, he's proven that you can control your uh, your
- 45:30Speaker 1: even your hormone release in your in your body with
- 45:33Speaker 1: your breath. But yeah, the average amount of oxygen people
- 45:36Speaker 1: generally hold is not a lot compared to people that
- 45:39Speaker 1: had to forage and run around and climb up mountains
- 45:41Speaker 1: every day for survival. So it's interesting. I've been going
- 45:45Speaker 1: the last ten years with people that are some of
- 45:49Speaker 1: the best beer fishermen in the world, like my boy
- 45:51Speaker 1: Justin Lee and Cameron Kirkconnell. I learned how to breathe
- 45:54Speaker 1: the right way, and it's actually the opposite. So if
- 45:56Speaker 1: you hyperventilate, your heart rate spikes, it goes crazy, so
- 45:59Speaker 1: you're burn up all your oxygen, so you do the
- 46:01Speaker 1: opposite of that. You do these half breasts with long exhales,
- 46:05Speaker 1: like ten second xhales. And if you can't sleep or
- 46:07Speaker 1: you're like trying to go down, you got to wind
- 46:09Speaker 1: down and get to bed or whatever. Do ten of
- 46:11Speaker 1: these breasts when you're about to go to sleep, and
- 46:13Speaker 1: you can feel your whole body start to melt and relax.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And while you're hunting, you want to have your heart
- 46:18Speaker 1: rate as low as possible. When you find something that
- 46:21Speaker 1: you want to dive for, then you do three loading breasts,
- 46:24Speaker 1: which is your hyperventilation, and then you do a normal breath,
- 46:27Speaker 1: and then you do a super breath, which most people
- 46:29Speaker 1: don't know how to breathe that other diaphragm everybody breathes through.
- 46:32Speaker 1: And your lungs are shaped like a triangle, right, but
- 46:35Speaker 1: the most volume is at the bottom. So the biggest
- 46:38Speaker 1: volume in your lungs when you breathe in is right here.
- 46:40Speaker 1: If you put your hand up, put your hand on
- 46:41Speaker 1: your belly. Now pretend there's a balloon going. Don't lift
- 46:44Speaker 1: your chest when you breathe in. Just fill up this bottom,
- 46:47Speaker 1: which is where the most volume is. So when you
- 46:49Speaker 1: inhale fill up that just that balloon. Don't let your
- 46:53Speaker 1: shoulders come up. Everybody breathes with this top part of
- 46:56Speaker 1: their lungs and that's where you got the least amount
- 46:57Speaker 1: of volume. Yep. So you do that while you're cruising
- 47:03Speaker 1: your heart rates low. You're melting in the water super efficient.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Then you get there three loading breasts, which is just
- 47:10Speaker 1: like that, and then regular breath, and then you do
- 47:12Speaker 1: a triple which is diaphragm, chest and throat, and then
- 47:18Speaker 1: you go down. And then after you've done your breathe up,
- 47:20Speaker 1: which is just like those half breasts chilling on top.
- 47:23Speaker 1: When you go down, you got twice a bottom time,
- 47:25Speaker 1: you know would have. So I did it wrong for
- 47:26Speaker 1: ten years and I started going with people that know
- 47:28Speaker 1: how to do it. It's like somebody handing a golf
- 47:30Speaker 1: club and being like, smack the ball. Like, unless you
- 47:32Speaker 1: have mechanics and somebody to show you how to do it,
- 47:36Speaker 1: it's not relaxing at all to try to hit golf
- 47:38Speaker 1: balls and you don't know how to hit a golf ball.
- 47:39Speaker 3: How do you get into something like this?
- 47:41Speaker 1: I went the first time in the Bahamas with a
- 47:44Speaker 1: bohemian guy there and just fell in love with it
- 47:46Speaker 1: like I just love. I love the challenge physically you
- 47:50Speaker 1: sleep like a baby after you die for a whole
- 47:52Speaker 1: day and swimming, but you're challenging the ocean, you're challenging
- 47:55Speaker 1: the camouflage and the fish, you're challenging your breath. And
- 47:59Speaker 1: when you get something nice, it's like you did it.
- 48:02Speaker 1: And it's only shooting things you can eat. So you're
- 48:04Speaker 1: getting out in the morning and you're going out and
- 48:05Speaker 1: you're shooting your dinner and you know, food for the
- 48:07Speaker 1: next few days, or making cevich on the boat or
- 48:09Speaker 1: whatever it is. But I love like I love making
- 48:14Speaker 1: people feel good. I love entertaining people. But I I
- 48:17Speaker 1: recharge and my my lady calls it, it's two people
- 48:21Speaker 1: y in there. And sometimes I got to just go
- 48:23Speaker 1: out and be in the wild. And when i'm supeitfishing,
- 48:25Speaker 1: there's nothing else in my brain. There's no chatter except
- 48:28Speaker 1: exactly what's in the moment right there. And every time
- 48:30Speaker 1: I go, I see something in the ocean I've never
- 48:32Speaker 1: seen before. It is another universe down there.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Have you ever terrified me? That's you? What kind of
- 48:39Speaker 3: what is that?
- 48:39Speaker 1: That's a dog tooth tuna, a dog tooth tuna. That
- 48:45Speaker 1: was Infiji. No, I was stoked when I saw that.
- 48:46Speaker 1: That's what I was. That's what I was.
- 48:47Speaker 3: After you you saw that and you got hyped out
- 48:51Speaker 3: walk I'm like, Jesus, dude, I'm walking on water. I'm
- 48:53Speaker 3: getting out of there.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and this was more recently, But.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Now, what about sharks.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Sharks they're there all the time.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Spearfishing videos where guys go down there, they get themselves
- 49:05Speaker 3: a fish. You can hear them be stoked and they're
- 49:07Speaker 3: kind of reeling it in and then this is little Yeah,
- 49:09Speaker 3: you blackfin fell you.
- 49:10Speaker 1: You bottle them for for the fish sometimes and it's
- 49:16Speaker 1: not intuitive, but as soon as you get the fish
- 49:18Speaker 1: to your body and like claim it, they'll turn. But
- 49:21Speaker 1: you don't want to be holding the fish out because
- 49:23Speaker 1: it'll eat your hand and the fish at the same
- 49:25Speaker 1: time trying to eat the fish when the visibility is good.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Sharks know the deal. And this is not spearfish in
- 49:30Speaker 1: places where they eat people our size or eat sea
- 49:32Speaker 1: lions or things our size. Now that's a different thing.
- 49:35Speaker 1: But most of the places that we go, they're just
- 49:38Speaker 1: after the fish, or they're after the chum that we're throwing.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Like when we're fishing for those big dog too. Tuna.
- 49:42Speaker 1: That's a Spanish mackerel on the left side right there
- 49:44Speaker 1: that I'm holding up. But you know, you read the
- 49:47Speaker 1: sharks language. They're like a dog right you walk in
- 49:49Speaker 1: the yard. You can read the language of a dog
- 49:51Speaker 1: if they're kind of staring at you and they're like
- 49:53Speaker 1: you can tell by looking at them. I mean, we
- 49:55Speaker 1: swim with them every time. This was just a month
- 49:57Speaker 1: or so ago. That is a monster kubert a kuberra,
- 50:01Speaker 1: cubrera snapper and those things. That's a monster. In Bahamas,
- 50:04Speaker 1: you can't use a spear gun. You have to use
- 50:06Speaker 1: a spear so you have to use a nine foot
- 50:08Speaker 1: spear that has a rubber band on the back of it,
- 50:10Speaker 1: and you have to swim down and get close enough
- 50:11Speaker 1: while it's loaded, and swim under rocks and rustle a
- 50:14Speaker 1: nine foot pole into the rocks and try to shoot
- 50:16Speaker 1: things like.
- 50:16Speaker 3: That while you're holding your breath.
- 50:17Speaker 1: While you're holding your breath, so you have a weight belt,
- 50:19Speaker 1: you have a mask and a snorkel and a knife,
- 50:22Speaker 1: and then you either have a pole spear if you're
- 50:23Speaker 1: in Bahamas, or you have a spear gun which is
- 50:26Speaker 1: all preloaded, so all the tensions not on your hand
- 50:28Speaker 1: when you swim down, So a gun you just reach
- 50:30Speaker 1: out and you can shoot. Sometimes the you have a
- 50:34Speaker 1: reel on your gun. If you're shooting things that are
- 50:36Speaker 1: twenty thirty pounds, you know you can get that in
- 50:38Speaker 1: with you know, by hand. If you're shooting monsters like
- 50:42Speaker 1: that dog too tuna, your shaft is attached to a
- 50:45Speaker 1: float line, to a booie. So you shoot the fish
- 50:48Speaker 1: and you're not attached to it anymore, and then you
- 50:50Speaker 1: have to chase it down before the sharks get it,
- 50:53Speaker 1: pull it up high enough. Sometimes take a.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Second gun is a crazy car? Yeah, yeah, that's nuts.
- 50:58Speaker 3: So is it when you're shooting a fish? Is it
- 51:00Speaker 3: kind of like when you go deer hunting and you're like, hey,
- 51:02Speaker 3: you want to aim for that little like shoulder piech
- 51:04Speaker 3: right there, get behind the headshots.
- 51:06Speaker 1: If you can. If you can break their spine, it's
- 51:10Speaker 1: it stones them, So that's what you want. I've had
- 51:13Speaker 1: situations where I'm sixty five feet down the bottom of
- 51:16Speaker 1: radio tower. I shoot a permit, the biggest permit I've
- 51:18Speaker 1: ever seen in my life.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Can we pull up a permit? Because it sounds like
- 51:21Speaker 3: you have to get from the city council.
- 51:22Speaker 1: I can I assure you picture right here?
- 51:26Speaker 3: This is uh, these are these are big fellas.
- 51:29Speaker 1: They're not knowing. This was a sixty pounder. I've never
- 51:31Speaker 1: heard anyone catching one on a line that was over
- 51:33Speaker 1: like thirty five forty pounds, but just just a monster.
- 51:37Speaker 1: But but this one, this one almost drowned me. I
- 51:39Speaker 1: hit him a little low, but this thing's about that wide.
- 51:43Speaker 1: They're they're kind of like a pit bull.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Yeah, like in the wild.
- 51:46Speaker 2: That's a big boy. Yeah, it's a big boy right there.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Take a little I'm sixty five feet down. I shoot him.
- 51:52Speaker 1: He takes off one way, ripping line off my reel.
- 51:54Speaker 1: I'm trying to swim up. I need breath. I'm like
- 51:57Speaker 1: at the you have about forty five seconds after you
- 52:00Speaker 1: feel uncomfortable to get air and you know you're still safe,
- 52:03Speaker 1: so you just mentally have to block it out. Same
- 52:05Speaker 1: thing when you're training or when you're whatever, Like you
- 52:07Speaker 1: gotta just like rip through. You know you're gonna be okay.
- 52:09Speaker 1: So I get up about ten feet from the surface
- 52:13Speaker 1: and I can see it and I need air. Well,
- 52:15Speaker 1: the line on my reel was gone, and he snatched
- 52:17Speaker 1: me back down twenty feet and then I start snatching
- 52:21Speaker 1: the reel trying to He's either gonna break out. It's
- 52:23Speaker 1: either gonna rip out of him, or he's gonna turn.
- 52:26Speaker 1: So I rip it a few times and he turns,
- 52:28Speaker 1: and so I get up and I get a breath.
- 52:29Speaker 1: As soon as I get a breath, he pulls me
- 52:31Speaker 1: back down again. And you have to clear your ears
- 52:33Speaker 1: in the middle of it too, because they pull you
- 52:35Speaker 1: down deep. So that one was a wild one, and
- 52:37Speaker 1: my buddy jumped in. He was trying to help, he
- 52:39Speaker 1: was holding me.
- 52:39Speaker 2: I probably just let go, yea, yeah, why don't you
- 52:41Speaker 2: just let go?
- 52:42Speaker 1: Yeah? But it is the most If you've never been
- 52:44Speaker 1: spear fishing, Bahamas is the best place to learn. Its
- 52:47Speaker 1: crystal clear, twenty thirty feet of water. You can shoot
- 52:49Speaker 1: amazing lobsters, snapper, grouper. It's I'm telling you, it's another world.
- 52:55Speaker 1: It's hunting and fishing and physical. That's a big lobster.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It's a baster that was in Bahamas.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Is that so the story you just told us, Is
- 53:03Speaker 3: that like the scariest experience you've had in the water.
- 53:06Speaker 1: No, Actually, the scariest ones that I've had have been
- 53:09Speaker 1: using a scuba tank. I had an emergency service from
- 53:13Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty feet somebody else's gear on their
- 53:15Speaker 1: boat they had. I'm down there and all of a sudden,
- 53:18Speaker 1: I've been down like five minutes. It was an eighteen
- 53:20Speaker 1: minute dive, so I wasn't hawking the gauges, like looking
- 53:22Speaker 1: at them every two minutes because I'd been down long.
- 53:24Speaker 1: But I see this huge snapper and I'm going down.
- 53:27Speaker 1: I went. I was at one hundred and I went
- 53:28Speaker 1: down to one twenty chase in this snapper, and it
- 53:30Speaker 1: was like I was breathing out of a coffee straw.
- 53:32Speaker 1: That air start because you have to continually breathe in scuba,
- 53:34Speaker 1: so you're constantly making bubbles, which is not great camouflage,
- 53:37Speaker 1: which is why freed diving is the way to do it.
- 53:40Speaker 3: You why do you have to continually breathe with a
- 53:42Speaker 3: scuba tank.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Because you're really compressed air, and so if you change
- 53:45Speaker 1: your atmosphere, you go down from fifteen to twenty five
- 53:50Speaker 1: is a different atmosphere. So when you go down it compressed.
- 53:53Speaker 1: It compresses the air down and you're breathing it compressed already,
- 53:56Speaker 1: so you constantly have to flow and breathe. You never
- 53:58Speaker 1: stop your breathing. That's why there's all these bubbles coming
- 54:00Speaker 1: out when you're scuba diving. But if somebody's in the
- 54:03Speaker 1: boat up top. The guy was up at the boat
- 54:04Speaker 1: up top, the guy was diving with he had a
- 54:06Speaker 1: bunch of floats on his chest, and he would if
- 54:09Speaker 1: you shoot a fish, you tie the float to it,
- 54:11Speaker 1: you blow it up and to send the fish up
- 54:13Speaker 1: to the top. And the guy in the boat like
- 54:14Speaker 1: picks the fish up, and he's following our bubbles. He
- 54:16Speaker 1: can see where we are. Well. I was down five minutes.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I was out of air. I looked down and my
- 54:21Speaker 1: gauge was red. Something was wrong. The gauge was wrong.
- 54:23Speaker 1: The tank wasn't full, it said it was. When I
- 54:25Speaker 1: went down. I was one hundred and twenty feet down.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I swim twenty feet up to where my buddy was.
- 54:29Speaker 1: He had all those floats on his vest. I'm trying
- 54:31Speaker 1: to get to his octopus, his secondary air, to grab
- 54:34Speaker 1: it and breathe. But when I made it to him,
- 54:36Speaker 1: I was already out of air. So I tried to
- 54:38Speaker 1: wrestle with it and get that off. What I should
- 54:40Speaker 1: have done is taken his out of his mouth and
- 54:42Speaker 1: us trade breaths go up to twenty five feet, decompressed
- 54:45Speaker 1: there for three or four minutes, and then go So
- 54:49Speaker 1: I knew that all the air that was in my
- 54:51Speaker 1: lungs was going to be expanding, expanding as I went up.
- 54:53Speaker 1: So I had emergency service from one hundred feet and
- 54:56Speaker 1: I blew up my BC as far as I could,
- 54:58Speaker 1: and the whole way up, I'm just blowing out as
- 55:00Speaker 1: hard as I can. Just the guy running the boat
- 55:04Speaker 1: at the top sees me come up and like breached
- 55:06Speaker 1: the top of the water and was like, oh shit,
- 55:07Speaker 1: I didn't get the bends. Thank god.
- 55:09Speaker 3: What's then?
- 55:10Speaker 1: The bens is when you have to be put in
- 55:11Speaker 1: a decompression chamber and breathe pure oxygen afterwards to decompress
- 55:15Speaker 1: your body. It can really mess your brain up. So
- 55:19Speaker 1: I don't. I don't scuba anymore. I've had one time
- 55:23Speaker 1: when I was spearfishing, I got washed out past a reef.
- 55:27Speaker 1: These big roller waves came in and the boat we
- 55:29Speaker 1: came out on couldn't get to us, and so for
- 55:31Speaker 1: an hour, I'm just tread and water. I dumped my
- 55:33Speaker 1: weight belt, just threw it off, and I'm just cruising
- 55:35Speaker 1: on top of the water, which I'm comfortable doing. But
- 55:37Speaker 1: the little guy that was with me was from Belize.
- 55:40Speaker 1: He was a kind of a heavy guy, but he
- 55:41Speaker 1: could swim, and he was out. He was screaming and
- 55:44Speaker 1: waving his gun and trying to do whatever, and I
- 55:46Speaker 1: was like, oh shit, So I dropped my weight and
- 55:48Speaker 1: I just cruis it on top, and an hour later
- 55:50Speaker 1: the waves settled down and the little Penga could get
- 55:52Speaker 1: out through the reef to get out to where we
- 55:53Speaker 1: were again. But that was one of the moments where
- 55:55Speaker 1: I was like, maybe it maybe like five six hours
- 55:58Speaker 1: that I have to just maintain and able to wait
- 56:00Speaker 1: for the tide to turn and be able to make
- 56:02Speaker 1: it swim back in.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Buddy.
- 56:05Speaker 3: I mean, I go, I go in my pool and
- 56:06Speaker 3: it's a fe deep. I can't. I can't, you know.
- 56:11Speaker 3: I mean, gple may make funny. I'll be trying to
- 56:13Speaker 3: tread water and I just can't do it. I'll just sink.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Spearfishing is the most fun anything I've ever done. It's
- 56:19Speaker 1: I'm telling you, it's it's you should go sometime. Bahamas
- 56:22Speaker 1: is the best place. I got a boat there. If
- 56:24Speaker 1: you guys ever want to go Bahamas weekend, I can
- 56:25Speaker 1: take you.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Okay, I mean yeah, I mean we've just met and
- 56:28Speaker 3: you're already inviting us out on a nice excursion.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Man, I'm telling you.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Well, his boy, his boy built my house, Matt, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 56:35Speaker 2: he was our builder for the house we're currently We
- 56:38Speaker 2: were actually his first house that I think it was
- 56:40Speaker 2: him and his dad. But during COVID he just did
- 56:43Speaker 2: a little side project since nobody was playing a whole lot.
- 56:46Speaker 2: But yeah, what does he do? Is he a guitarist?
- 56:49Speaker 1: Bass player?
- 56:50Speaker 2: Yeah, bass player yeah, yeah, very detailed individual.
- 56:55Speaker 1: Yeah, his dad's a builder, and Matt, I've got to
- 56:59Speaker 1: like Burke nerds in my band. I've got him and
- 57:01Speaker 1: Clay Cook. And so they quantitize it all. They tell
- 57:04Speaker 1: me what the math is. I create something and then
- 57:05Speaker 1: they make a chart of what it is so everybody
- 57:08Speaker 1: else can play it and learn it or whatever it is.
- 57:11Speaker 1: But I'm not the that'd be like your offensive coordinator
- 57:15Speaker 1: or defense coordinator Whoever's just like strategy wise, because when
- 57:19Speaker 1: I create something, I don't want to think about the math.
- 57:20Speaker 1: You know, you can break anything into math, but I
- 57:23Speaker 1: want to make it based on the way I feel
- 57:25Speaker 1: and the way it makes me feel and maybe the
- 57:26Speaker 1: way it makes somebody else feel, and then they they
- 57:28Speaker 1: quantitize it. Matt can listen to a song no matter
- 57:30Speaker 1: how long it is one listen to the song and
- 57:33Speaker 1: write a musical chart of all of the notes and
- 57:35Speaker 1: the timing of the whole song, listening to it, no
- 57:37Speaker 1: matter how complicated it is. So Matt, Matt's like a wizard.
- 57:40Speaker 3: He is thorough Yeah it, sitting there breaking down everything.
- 57:43Speaker 3: He's got his little handbook and everything else.
- 57:45Speaker 2: I was like, buddy, can I just I'll just live
- 57:47Speaker 2: in the house and then when something happens, I'll just
- 57:49Speaker 2: let you know. You know, I'm going to give mouth
- 57:53Speaker 2: open as I'm staring.
- 57:54Speaker 3: At Yeah, and you know, he's so passionate about whatever
- 57:56Speaker 3: he's telling me too.
- 57:58Speaker 2: And it was his first one. So he's on it, bro, Yeah,
- 58:01Speaker 2: he's on it.
- 58:02Speaker 3: So we're into spearfishing. What uh do we hunter?
- 58:05Speaker 2: Have you swim with Orcas.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I've been in the water with him, I haven't gotten
- 58:09Speaker 1: to really have a great close up encounter. But in Alaska.
- 58:12Speaker 1: I got a place in Alaska and they're out in
- 58:14Speaker 1: the bay all the time, so we spearfish there and
- 58:16Speaker 1: so we've seen a glimpse of them, but never gotten
- 58:19Speaker 1: to just like fully see him swim with whale sharks,
- 58:21Speaker 1: to swim with pilot whales, lots of different things. Orcheres
- 58:27Speaker 1: are the craziest. They're the baddest machine in the.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Oceans as they are bad.
- 58:33Speaker 1: That's where they played with toy.
- 58:35Speaker 3: You know, I've said it a lot. I had the
- 58:36Speaker 3: free you know, free Willy, grew up on free Willy. Yeah,
- 58:38Speaker 3: I had the little compass, held it near and deue
- 58:40Speaker 3: to my heart for the longest time. What happened to
- 58:42Speaker 3: that compass?
- 58:43Speaker 2: I think we just moved and I lost it. I
- 58:45Speaker 2: grew up a little bit.
- 58:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean, never too much, because
- 58:49Speaker 3: you break it up the four times you realize the
- 58:51Speaker 3: compass is just you know, just that.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I ain't gonna find a whale with this.
- 58:57Speaker 1: You can go swim with them too.
- 58:59Speaker 2: I don't want no way.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Why Iceland you can do it too.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Yeah. They all spinfish hall of it there too in
- 59:04Speaker 1: those places too, same as same as Alaska.
- 59:06Speaker 3: I need to get out to Iceland. My wife when
- 59:08Speaker 3: we first met, she was like, whoever I marry, whoever
- 59:11Speaker 3: I'm with the rest of my life. I want to
- 59:13Speaker 3: go to Iceland with them, and I was like, oh, yeah,
- 59:14Speaker 3: we're gonna go to Iceland. We've be married for almost
- 59:16Speaker 3: ten years. Amazing, still have not gone to Iceland. Gotta
- 59:19Speaker 3: check that box.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Ten.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Your anniversary comes up in April.
- 59:22Speaker 1: I was just in Greenland about a month ago.
- 59:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, how was that? Yeah, I'm sure you trouble.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Were your like your favorite places you've ever been to.
- 59:29Speaker 1: And Alaska is one of them. Have you been to Alaska? No?
- 59:32Speaker 1: I think the scale of Alaska is so much bigger
- 59:36Speaker 1: than anything else, and just it's it's the wild. I've
- 59:39Speaker 1: got a boat there and you can go off and
- 59:41Speaker 1: lower the front gate extends over and you can just
- 59:43Speaker 1: walk off and go anywhere you want to go. But
- 59:47Speaker 1: there's a frequency in Alaska that I've never found anywhere else.
- 59:50Speaker 1: In July and August and Homer is the greatest. It's
- 59:54Speaker 1: sixty sixty five degrees every day. It's sunny. World class fishing,
- 59:58Speaker 1: world class hunting, it is. But beauty wise, the view
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: from my porch is the greatest you have ever seen anywhere.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: You spend every summer up there.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I spend my summer's working my ass off. So my
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: goal is to get to wear it be up there
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: more often.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, are you you a big hunter?
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Yeah? I bet hunting my whole life. My dad was
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: taking me, you know, dealhunt deer hunting and hunting birds
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: and squirrels.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: And what's your favorite.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I love the bow hunt. This is my favorite because
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: you're in their environment. You're playing the wind and you're
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: scent and the camo and the environment and sneaking up hunting.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: For me, the greatest ninety percent of hunting why I
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: love it is not harvesting the animal. It's because it
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: pushes you out into the wild where you would never go.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: And the amount of sunrises and sunsets that I've seen
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: bow hunting. I can't imagine what my life would be
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: like without having that in my life. It's uh, it's
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: spiritual and it's primal, and you're hunting things that you
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: can eat or that if you're in another country sometimes
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: the things that that you shoot there, the villagers get
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: to eat it, so you're feeding their families or your own.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: And it's I can't I can't really explain, but but
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: being connected to nature and walking places that people don't
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: walk like, you're not on a trail that's on your
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: map guide on your phone, you know, and an app
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: on your phone. You're truly just pushing into the wilderness,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: into the wild and yeah, that's that's on my boat
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: in Alaska.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: And what's the hardest hunt that you've been on? Are
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: the hardest animal to push?
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Man? Big big one? The sheep sheep are the hardest
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: because you know, they're they're so far out there. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: had a huge awakening. I was in Kyrgyzstan hunting our golly,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: which are the big sheep that lived there, like five
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: hundred pound Kyrgystan, our galley between China and Mongolia, and
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: it's like home of the Shaman like land. It's like
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: shaman Land, but you're on a horse. You're on a
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: horse that's.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Imagined. It's like a scene in Zoolander. Yeah, you know,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: I was out in Where were you at?
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: In Curry stand hunting.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: But a lot of people don't A lot of people
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: don't understand the conservation part of hunting as well, because
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: the hunters that pay big money to get tags for
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: things is paying the people that are there protecting the
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: herds of the species and managing them and making sure
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: that they're going to be around forever. So people are like, oh,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: it's just a murder and whatever it is. It's like,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: when's the last time you gave three hundred grand in
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: a year to conserving populations of animal and helping them,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: like making sure they're always there. Yeah, you know, they
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: manage quotas of them. They they checked the predator to
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: to pray, ratio and those things. If there's too many predators,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: they'll put the predators, you know, on a list and
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: sell tags. Make thirty grand a pop on selling the
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: hunts for those so that they can keep everything in balance.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I know in Africa, the poacher's slayed everything. There's four
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: percent of Africa that's under conservation that have healthy herds
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: of animals that are there, and it's because of the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: hunters that go there. The hunters pay for it. Like
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: when you heard it, youurd about Cecil the lion, right,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: there was a very photographed lion that a hunter shot,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: so they banned lion hunting in that entire area. So
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: then there was no money coming in from the abundance
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: of lions that were there from tags anymore. So all
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: the farmers that live there, they tolerate the lions eating
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: their goats and their sheep and their things like that,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: because they were getting a cut of the conservation. So
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: when they banned line hunting, the lions just poison all
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: the lions, killed every one of them, no shit, And
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: so people think they're solving it by one way of
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: getting what they want, but the result is actually way
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: more horrible than having someone manage it and make sure
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: there's a healthy population of lions always there. But poachers
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: come in and sellers trying to feed their families, you know,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: killing things, and people that I've seen do it really well,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: they're conservationists. They come in, they'd hire all the poachers
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: and they run them through a two year ranger school
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: and teach them how to protect the animals and how
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: to for people because they're the best hunters in the world.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: These people that come from the bush in Africa, and
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: they can hide in a bush right next to where
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: you are. You have no idea that they're there. They'll
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: set twenty snares to get one animal. The first animal
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: that gets caught, they take it and sell it to
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: somebody that's trying to buy parts off the animal or
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: something like that, and then the other twenty animals just
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: get snared and die no purpose whatsoever. So's there's always
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: a huge conversation. It's always polarizing. And I haven't really
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: talked about my hunting life just because I've got fans
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: that are super left and super right, and I always
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: wanted my music to be something that brought people together
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: of all the exact.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Jan everybody buys Jordan's Democrats and Republicans so exactly.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: So I don't talk about my politics. I don't talk
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: about those things. I haven't really talked about my hunting,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: but what it's added to my life and just for
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: my peace of mind and being able to be out
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: in the wild. And there's lots of hunts that you
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: go on, you don't get anything except the experience of
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: catching every sunrise and every sunset and being in that
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: environment and of being in the wile, Like it just
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: helps return me to just be in Alaska and the
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: ocean and hunting. All of that makes me feel small
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and the best possible way. Yeah, it's the greatest.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: You brought up an interesting point about like people have
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: different views, Like you have a lot of different fans
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: of both sall on the left and the right. When
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: you were coming up through the ranks and like gaining
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: all this traction, having all these singles, these Grammys and
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: stuff like that. Was there ever a time that maybe
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: someone part of your team try to get you to
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: act a certain way because they want to make sure
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: you were unscathed from one side or the other.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I think that was more my initiative that was there,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: and most of the people, like now, we don't have
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: a management company, like we have our managers in house.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: We're not with a label. We're all independent. So I
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: know when I'm dealing with people and partners and sponsors whoever,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I know how those people are treated. They're representing me,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: and I can say I can vouch and know how
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: that they're going to handle people in situations and things.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: But I think you've got to be really careful. I
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: never wanted to be a celebrity and get to like
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: and try to just be a celebrity, like I wanted
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: people to know me through music. So when I'm on
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: a stage, I like attention because that's what I'm doing.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I'm trying to be there to move them for that
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: night and inspire them and help them have a great night.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: But otherwise, in my private life, I just try to
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: live my life, raise my kids. I got five kids.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I got four girls and a boy. My girls are fourteen.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Number that boy come in, he's last.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Finally give us he's eleven, four girls, and then the
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: boy he's eleven. But my girls are fourteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: And he's in it right now.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: It's awesome, dude. I love my girls. Yeah, and it's
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: like anything. But half of my life is opposed to
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: a lot of people and artists who don't have kids
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: or whatever. But I have my kids half the time,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: and when I have them, that's my one hundred percent focus.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: I'm their bitch. Yeah, I'm all the games, all the things,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: and I want to do that. I don't want to
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: look back and miss out on those things. You know.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: I make a lot of sacrifices to do what I do,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: but that eats up half my time. And then the
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: weeks that I don't have them, I can work, I
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: can adventure, I can refill my cup and detox from
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: all the stuff. Man, you know, try to be creative,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: but being the business leader and being a creative or
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: hard hand in hand, because you can be consumed by
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: all the fires of all the stuff you have to
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: deal with all the time.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Right, independence that seems like a like a rare thing
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: in your industry. Was it always that way or did you?
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Was there?
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Like no, I had point management early on, I had
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: labels early on and all of that, and it was
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: necessary at the time. And then as you get your
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: own machine going and figuring it out, it's like you
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: look at it and you're also competing with other people.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Like if you're with a management company, you're they have
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: twenty acts, right, So you're competing for attention with everything
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: else that's going on with the other people that they have.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: And for a lot of people that don't really have
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: a left brain, that aren't really business centered or whatever,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: like they need that, Like I need a business manager.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I was terrible at paying my bills, like not because
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: I couldn't figure out how to make the money just
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: because putting us I mean back then we didn't have
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: auto pay. We had to like put a stamp on
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: a check and put it in the mail. And I
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: was allergic to that. I don't know why, but I
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: would drive to the place to pay my power bill,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: like drive over there and like give them a check.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: I don't know what my mental block. But as soon
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: as I had somebody, as soon as I could afford
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: to have somebody that was like paying my bills for me,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: that helped me a lot in my life. So I'm
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: definitely I'm good at what I'm good at, but there's
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: things that I'm awful at, and I got to have
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: my team to back me up on those things.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: Yeah, isn't it funny how like you can do some
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: of the hardest things that most people can't do, but
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: when it comes the most simplistic things, because we're the
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: same way, just do it. Just do yourself, man speak.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: I will speak for myself. They're the basics I can
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: barely do. I can barely do the basics. So I'm
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: with you.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: And I told Kendrick when we got together, like, look,
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: I'm good at some things. There's some things I'm like,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: I'm special. Yeah, you know, I'm special. And she's like, no,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: you're not, or whatever, And now she's like, you kind
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: of are special. Yeah, I told you.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: I never I'm still in my family plan for high
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: school out my phone bill.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Obviously you've had a bunch of success, like in the beginning, though,
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: like how long did it take you from the start
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: of like, Okay, I want to be an artist. I
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: want to do music too. Okay, this is my big break.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: So I was fourteen, I know I want to play
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: music professionally. I know I want to build a camp.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Those are the two things that were most important to me.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: And build a camp.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Is this the Hunting Camp Southern Ground? No? No, we
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: built a campus, like a university level campus where we
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: serve kids and veterans. Okay, and that's in Georgia.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Fourteen years old.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: You want to do that, I want to do that.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: I worked at Camp. I was a counselor product of Camp,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: and then I worked at Staff for three years after that,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: living there all summer kids that don't have any mentorship
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: in their areas where they are if you dip them
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: in the right environment for a week and let them
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: show them a different way, Like, it's cool because the
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: camps that I worked at. In my camp now is
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: a diversity model. So we've got kids that are on
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: the spectrum, kids from underserved areas, kids from military families
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: that might have lost their parent or parent was dismembered
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: or taken their life. And then you have kids mainstream
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: kids that might not know how to appreciate anything they have.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: They're just like spoiled and have everything but don't have
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: any perspective. But when you take everybody in that group,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: all of them are in the same group together, running
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: for a week together, having to overcome things, having to
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: learn about people that are different than them, it can
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: change the trajectory of their life entirely in a week.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: So I was a product of that. Camp opened my
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: eyes and made me want to be courageous. Like I
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: went to public school. So if you got up and
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: saying something or did a skid or something in public
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: school in front of kids, you're gonna get roasted a
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: lotas sixth grade is the most brutal thing in the world.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: So camp was the place that was like safe to
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: be yourself and do that and a lot of the
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: things that I'm not afraid to do, things like I'm
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: not afraid what if someone thinks this, well, that's not
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: my problem. Like people are gonna hate anything you do. People.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: When I started first started building the camp, we had
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: a huge public hearing because we're gonna have dwellings on
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: the property. We had people throwing vegetables at peace. People
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: that worked at the camp, trying to knock on the
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: door telling them what we were building close by and
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: things people were up at arms and like trying to
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: figure out what nefarious reason I would be like building
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: a camp. They're like afraid I was going to build
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: subsidized housing and stuff like that. But it doesn't matter
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: what you do in this world. It's because we hear
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: the voices of so many idiots. If we were in
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: a tribe, if we live in a tribe of people,
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: if you couldn't hear what someone was saying over earshot,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: you're not supposed to be able to hear what they
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: have to say. Nor have they earned the right or
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: respect or any accomplishment in their life where I might
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: even want to listen to something that they would say.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: But we live in a world where you're in kids.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I can't imagine kids having to make it through and
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: figure out who they are because if you don't really
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: pay attention, the devices and the internet will raise your
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: children if you're not there to know who they are
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: and what they're becoming and the things they have to
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: deal with these days compared to I used to have
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: to break in my parents' room, breaking a dresser, break
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: in a box to get a dirty magazine. And now
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: kids with an unlocked phone can can tell you can
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: watch B Reality with whatever they like get a hold of,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Like the innocence is gone. One kid with an unlocked
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: phone like, hey look at this, and it's like god
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: knows what.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: That's how it started, right, not BC Reality, but the
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: unlocked phone. Yeah, yeah that on sidekick and they we
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: got here. I was like in eighth grade.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: It's a weird time, like five ways around everything. It's
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: like you remember when you could like jail break your iPhone,
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Like yeah, you can get away with pretty much anything.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's wild and they know so much about it
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: and they're so savvy, like.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: You pick it up so way smart than new way faster.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I bet. Yeah.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: But so you wanted to do this, so you went
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: to camp. You realized how much of an impact ahead
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: on you, and you want to make for somebody else
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: had that as well. Yeah, so at fourteen years old
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: going through people, you're like, I want to do music
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: and I want to give back.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I want to do a camp.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: What was the process and getting all that started?
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: So I love that I had a purpose from that
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: age because everything that I did working towards that the
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: amount of time I spent practicing my guitar, listening to
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: other music, learning her songs. So by the time I
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: was playing in bars when I was seventeen, I knew
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: a thousand cover songs, so I could play whatever. I
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: would look at the people that were sitting there, by
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: what they had on, by their age, try to figure
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: out something that they might like to hear, because the
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: chances are when you see somebody playing in a restaurant,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: it's a fifty to fifty it's gonna be terrible or
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: it's gonna be okay. So you got to win them over,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: and so you try to you know, I prepared myself
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: trying to figure out how to reach people and maybe
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: if they listen to a few covers that they like
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: in that vein, Like again, you test out some Floyd
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: on them, or test out you know, some Bill Withers
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: or something like see whatever its their head tap, then
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: after you kind of earn their respect, then you can
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: slip in an original song.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: So what I did is I created a business model.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: So I went into sports bars that didn't have live music,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: and I just said I'm gonna come here and I'm
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: gonna play. And I did this for six years, six years,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: six nights a week. I played four to six hours
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: a night in sports bars, and I went to the places,
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: talk to the owner and just said, let me come
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: play here every Tuesday night or Wednesday, whatever day it was.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: And this was in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. I hired
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: a guy to drive my truck for me. I'd sleep
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: against the window in my truck through the night getting
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: to the other places, and then eventually I just said
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: I want the door, like we charge three bucks or
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: five bucks at the door. So on a Wednesday Tuesday
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: night in different places, I was bringing in two or
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: three hundred people into a sports bar to come in
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: to see us play. And I was making, you know,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: nine hundred bucks at the door. And I could pay
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: a good sound guy, I could pay a band, I
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: could pay people to come there. But if I'd have
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: gone to Nashville and tried to get a gig, you
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: making fifty bucks a night playing where it's so saturated.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: The guys working at waffle house are better guitar players
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: than me. I'm serious, like wicked crazy players. There's so
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: much saturation and then there's not a market for it.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: So what I had and one thing that I've always had,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: and I think it's the most valuable trait and success period,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: is hustle. I was slinging candy out of my backpack
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: when I was in elementary schoolmen quarter blow pops, three
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: dollar rancher six.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: For the and chocolate bars.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: Bro.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: You go to class, you know little Johnny or right,
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: he's got everything for you. I was opening that thing
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: up during recess.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: That's it in the bathroom, whatever it is, Yeah.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: On sell. But I was a big time consumer, too,
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: big time consumer.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: I was only a consumer.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: So that was my hustle man. Music was my hustle,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: and it was my way of doing it, and I
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: had no idea where it's going to end up or whatever.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: But I wasn't gonna let anybody talk me into not
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: doing it. And about when I was probably twenty, record
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: labels started coming sniffing around, seeing that I was bringing
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: in and selling out theaters, selling out you know, places
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: with you know, four or five thousand people in them,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: and they were trying to figure out what it is.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: But they were like, you got to figure out. I
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: remember one of the record label heads talked to my
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: lawyer when they were like leaving town. He was like,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: he's got to decide what kind of artist he is.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: He just doesn't know that yet. And they would come
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: and go, we're gonna put a cowboy hat on you,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: in some boots and stuff, and we're gonna, you know,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: get you. And I'm just like, I'm just gonna be me.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: So it took ten years from that point to actually
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: feel comfortable enough to sign a record deal. So, for
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: for the first Sick was me and a drummer grinding
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: six hours a night, six nights a week. Then four
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: years of playing with different people around Atlanta to getting
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: to the point to where we could afford to have
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: a bus where I could actually lay down flat and
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: sleep while we're traveling, and then basically you know, So
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: it was ten years after we'd set out like we're
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: gonna make it. You know, we're gonna be big next year.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: It was ten years after that to get to the beginning.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: And that's when Chicken Fried came out. We made the
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: right record with Keith Stiegel, and then it's a winding path.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: It's a long story about how it all went down,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: but we'd signed with a huge, brand new record label
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: that had like Madonna, Jay z U two and US
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: and we were the developing act and the thing. Then
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: that whole record label dissolved and I had the album
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: I'd made on my own, and then I released it
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: with them, and then I released it again with Atlantic Records.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: But I had some leverage by then because we had
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: a number one song on the radio and no label.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: So I was able to strike a deal with Atlantic Records,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: who was my first, you know, big record label that
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: that I worked with, and but I was able to
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: leverage getting my master's back. It took eight years to
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: get him back.
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: That's when you re released Chicken Fried.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I re released Kick and Friday. It was the third
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: time that album had come out with the second record
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: label that it came out, and we'd already had a
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: number We had a number one.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: How does that process work? How do you release an
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: album three times?
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Because it on my own, and then there was a
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: huge thing cooking with this big, huge company that was
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: trying it. It wasn't their model, but they were going to
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: do a record label. So then we signed with them.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: And when they when you sign with them, they now
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: have the master of Chicken They have the masters. So
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: when you when that breakup or whatever happens, you can't
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: use chicken frieda anymore.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: No I can use it. They just make the majority
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: of the money from it got you, Okay, So it's
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: broken down into three buckets, right, if you're a songwriter,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: If you're an artist, recording artist, and a songwriter, your
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: songwriting's broken up into your writer's share and a publisher share.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: And I owned both of those. And then there's your masters,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: who owns the actual master recording. That makes about five times.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: And I know this because I'm one of the owly
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: artists that owns their masters, So I actually get the
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: payments from all the DSPs. I get the payment from
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: Spotify and from YouTube and all those things myself. So
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: I have optics into how much the labels make off
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: of that, where most people don't. Every time you sign
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: another record deal, that pushes your masters getting him back
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: like another eight years, ten years, so they have a
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: way to figure it out. But I'd heard all these
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: stories about people getting taken advantage of, and I was
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: just stubborn enough to like fight for you know, getting
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: the leverage to be able to get them back. And
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: then and then As the time went on, I was
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: able to hire my team of people that handled most
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: of the day to day stuff that we needed to do.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: So then we just stopped using managers or stopped using
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: the label and you know, kind of do it on
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: our own. And now we know what it earns and
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: I can take some of that and keep good people
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: around me to help manage it. But I'm not competing
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: with other artists. I'm not competing with other releases and
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: things like that. It's a lot of work, but I
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: know how people are treated. I know I'm represented at
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: all times by everyone in my business.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: Right and it was associated with you, you know how they're
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: going to treat other people.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Z Brown Band and Taylor Swift. I know that was
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: a massive deal. When she got her mess did like
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: Taylor's version or something like that.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: She just re recorded them all so and asked her
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: fans to listen to those.
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: Instead, he's got an army out there, man, Yeah, you
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: got to watch out for them.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: It's a full blown Military's a force.
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: Yeah, this is the most comfer military in the world.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: Actually, is what it is.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: She's a force, dude.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: You've collaborated with so many different people like Alan Jackson
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: and Jimmy Buffett and Kid Rock, Like how does that?
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: How did those conversations take place? Like you've you've done
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: the master's thing. You were just stubborn enough to ask
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: the right questions to get what you wanted. And then
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: these big time stars as well, like how do those
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: conversations take place? Like, Hey, I like your ship, you
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: like my ship. Let's do something together.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I got simple seek him out. It's like this
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: is a dream, Like I want to have Jimmy Buffet
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: on a song. I ended up meeting him at a campsite,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: like he's sitting there eating a pie and me and
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: my bass player walking by and like sitting down and
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: start talking to him. And we ended up being friends
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: from that. And then I send him a song like, hey,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: we got a song. We had traction, we'd already had,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: you know, five or seven number ones at that time,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: and and so I think our success and then us
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: being real genuine fans of him talking him into doing it.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: Same way with Dolly. We just released the song with
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Dolly Parton just came out a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: And she is the best. It's called Butterfly. She is
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: such an incredible they'll never be another Dolly, like the
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: most published, most brilliant female writer ever. But that was
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: a dream, and it was a dream to have like
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: a full orchestra, like forty people come in record forty
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: pieces of an orchestra and put it in. So we
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: did it on the song with Dolly and she's an
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: angel man. But she's what she sang on this. I
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: sent her the song and like, sing whatever you want.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: When I got back what she sang, I was just like,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: she is a fucking ninja. Dude, Yeah, she is a ninja.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: Didn't she have like a song that she wrote and
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: produced that she like buried under, like was it dolly Land,
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: dolly World or something like that that will not be
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: released until she's passed away or a certain date.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: That wouldn't surprise me.
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: I just heard crazy story about her next cycle. That's
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: next level thinking of true, and I love to know
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: if that is, if we can find out because legend
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: I saw that in passing probably Instagram, and I'm like,
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: oh shit, you see this.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: You know Who's a collaboration you'd love to do in
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: the future.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Adele's one that I've always wanted to do. I love Adelle.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I love her voice. I met her, we played, she
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: played at some country things. She was singing something with
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Darius Rucker at this thing. She came up to me.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: I'd never seen her name before. This is when the
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: record heard, record nineteen was out. I hadn't heard of her,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: and she walked up and she's like, I really love
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: your music, and I was like, oh, thank you. And
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: I thought I was like Adelai or something. I didn't
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: know we even know how to say her name really.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: And then the next year she came out with twenty
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: one and it was like the biggest record ever.
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: And she's exploding.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: And I listened to her when I ride my motorcycle.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: I would put that record on and listen to it
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: like a thousand so when I could just like, whenever
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: I listen to it, I can almost feel the wind
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: on my face. Yeah, And I just I was late
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: getting to the uh. I was late getting to the
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: scene on her because I could have talked to her
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: and connected with her right there. But she's she's pretty
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: untouchable now and kind of does what she wants to do.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: But she's definitely my top. Like that.
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Is there any conversations taking place with her right.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Now, not not currently. She was at the Rock and
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Roll Hall of Fame when we did. We were the
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: band for Dolly for her rock and Roll Hall of
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Fame induction, so we got to back her up on
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: all her songs and she was there, but I didn't
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: get to meet her.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: She's just like shoot her at DM like, what's up
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: with this collab?
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: The eye apology?
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, it.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: Says it says here Dolly Beard a song and a
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: time capsule at Dollywood that will not be heard until
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: she is ninety nine years old. I mean, Shuram just
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: wrote that, so you could have just lied.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: Is that copy?
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Didn't paste it so you know it's factual from the internet,
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: from the internet. Got to have it.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: Was there ever a moment, because you're right, I agree
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: with you on the hustle Partment six years, especially when
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: you're like the late teens. You know, you're a young man,
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: like you know, just young, wild and free. But as
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: you're playing, you know, six nights a week, six hours
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: a night, is there ever a moment where you're like
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: this is about to be it, whether it's a breakthrough
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: or even this might be it, Like I'm gonna have
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: to turn and do something else.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I was never gonna turn and do something else, because
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: we left. We went to Panama City Beach with our
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: with our van and our new CD that we'd had
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: made of five song CD and my dog and like
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: all our gear and drove to Panama City and we
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: would set up and plug in anywhere where somebody would
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: give us a power outlet. We plug in and set
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: up outside and we played. We did that for a
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: week or two. Played at this guy's dakriy shack. He
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: had like a trailer with the Dakri machines in it,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: and we placed sitting outside of this thing. And then
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: that turned into meeting some people that own a really
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: nice house on Roberts Drive that let us sleep in
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: their garage. So me and the drummer a sleeping in
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: a double bed together for like a month, and then
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: we found a house gig at this place like that
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: let us play every week. And you know, they let
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: us play ten nights in a row, six hours a
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: night for one hundred and fifty bucks a night. So
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: we's give us fifteen hundred bucks. And we had to
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: prove ourselves sweating outside in Panama City in the in
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: the summertime. But I loved the whole process. I loved
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: all of it. There were moments that I thought, yeah,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: we're gonna meet these people and things that we're just
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: gonna be big, you know what I mean. And then
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: when we left Panama City. We did that for a
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: few years. Then we left. Then we went to New Orleans.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: We're like, Okay, now we're gonna go conquer New Orleans.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: We left New Orleans so fast. I think the devil
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: lives in New Orleans. Live in New Orleans. If you
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: were there, if you were there. When we drove in,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: it was like three in the morning, and our busted
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: old van that like five out of the eight cylinders
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: worked in it, and gas is just like spraying inside
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: the car. It's like I sold my life insurance policy.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: My dad gave me to buy this twelve hundred dollars
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: like van from the seventies, like a good times van,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: like bubble windows, like orange shag carpet. So we're living
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: out this van and we get to New Orleans and
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: that was that's Oprah. That was a different one. That
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: was let that was much later.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: Well that's a nicer version.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's nicer. But the good times. Van was the
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: first vehicle we were in. But when I thought we
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: were gonna make it in New Orleans and we went
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: there and it was all jazz and blues. Nobody would
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: have us, Nobody would let us go in and play.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Three days, we had twenty bucks left. I was living
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: off a gas card. I was like, I could get
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Dorito's and bologney and white bread and natural Light. If
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: you made enough money and tips, you could drink bud Light.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, you're on the natural Light train
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: for a long time. So then we had to kind
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: of come home and regroup, and I started playing more
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: around Atlanta and then only going to Panama City for
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: some of the summertimes. But man, it was always a grind,
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: and I there was the option. Giving up was never
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: an option. It was like, what's the next thing. How
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: can we get in front of new people, new audiences
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: and things like that. And once Chicken Fried came out
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: on the radio and we had a song, then we
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: started opening for Alan Jackson and Dave Matthews Band and
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Kenny Chesney and opening for people and getting to play
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: in front of people. But we've been honing our craft
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: and our skill. I mean having the bands a lot
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: like having a sports team, Like, everybody's got to be
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: good at their job. They got to show up and
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: be solid. They can't be you know, drunk and wasted,
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: like gotta good life skills, discipline, And we did that.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: And then not long after, we stopped anybody drinking before
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: the show because we would smash a bottle of Yaeger
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: before the show. It was from a four piece ban
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: a bottle yeager during the show, and a bottle or
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: two after the show. And so like all my rock
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: star days and shit like that was like from twenty
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: to twenty three, you know.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: Short lived, so short runway.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, but after that it was pretty much like it
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: was business after that. But I knew what it does,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: and I've been sober now for.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Eight years, so I congratulations.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Yeah for me, I know what it does. And I
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: just want to feel good every day now and anything
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: I can do to invest in me feeling good from
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: life coaching, the therapist to plant, medicine to whatever, like
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: I'm I'm in on that because as you get older,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: like you guys are forty yet.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: He's just I just turned thirty six. Yea, I'm good.
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: So when you turn forty, your warranty runs out, so
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: you better start investing and feeling good. You can get
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: away with it when you're younger, but for me it was,
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: you know, I've got a lot of kids to raise.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: I've got to stay on the path. I got to
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: figure out what's happening. Yeah, that was. That was when
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: we were first to five piece.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: Man. Yeah, it's fun when you're like twenty three, twenty four,
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: and then right around twenty five, every time I would
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: have like one or even two drinks, like the next day,
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: I just feel terrible forever. And then you have.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Kids, Yeah, you live, Your kids want to.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: Play the next day, and you're just like that can't.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Man, I should have stopped way sooner, not because I
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: had a problem with it, just because it was taken
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: away from things that matter. Yeah, and it doesn't. Nobody's
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: life gets worse because they quit, no doubt.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: What would you tell like young artists who we have
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: the big time hustle mentality and you're kind of living
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: through those moments of probably discouragement, like when you leave
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: in New Orleans and everything else where you're feeling discouraged,
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: but also you're trying to balance it with that intensity
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: and focus to like stay locked in for the bigger picture,
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: to like keep going.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean if you're people always told me, like
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I had to get a degree, You have to get
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: a degree, You have to have a plan B. I'm like,
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: if I'm putting energy into plan B, I'm not putting
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: it into plan A. The people that succeed are the
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: ones that never give up, no matter what anybody says.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Unless you have the grit to be able to do that, Yeah,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: you can't. You can't quit and give up. And you
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: got to be really good to everybody along the way.
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: That's the way you treat people is a direct result
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: in your environment that you keep. Your environment of your
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: friends and people. If you don't keep expanders around you
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: as your friends, if you've got people you and boys
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: a long time but whatever, they love to get trashed
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: and whatever, if you slip off into that world with them.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: So you have to really be tight with your circle
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: and that that will directly determine your success. The environment
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: that you keep, keep the things around your house that
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: help you feel healthy and feel good. Like I turned
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: all my bars into like you know, tea and juice
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: and you know, smoothie bars and stuff like that. So
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: I still have something I can go make that I like,
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: but it's different context, you know. But I wish that
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: I had learned sooner. And I tell people this, like,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: try to stay out of debt, treat everybody like gold.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Be around people that are really good at what you
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: want to do so you can learn from them. Clean
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: their toilets, bring them coffee, do whatever you got to
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: do to be around those people. And you got to
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: work your ass off, like there's no shortcut, there's no way.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: People that get made super famous on YouTube overnight and
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: stuff like that, like you're happy for them. But the
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: dues that I paid grinding as much as I have
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: made me appreciate people so much, and that love is
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: all the way through my crew and my people, Like
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: everybody's job is equally as important as mine, and they
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: come to bat for me. And Charlie Daniels is one
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: of my favorite quotes. He was like, my greatest accomplishment
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: is having thirty seven of my friends helped me for
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: thirty five years, like play music and do that. So
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: the team that I have, the people around me, you
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: can't buy culture, and you can't buy momentum. You have
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: to build those things for yourself, and then every decision
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: you make is a crossroads. Yeah, and there's so many
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: times just one decision could have changed things. But even
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: when you get beat up or whatever, you got to
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: get back up and keep going or you're not going
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: to make it. So there are people that are like, yeah,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: I think I want to do music. It's like, now
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: you better fucking know, right, You better give it everything
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: you got, and you better learn everything you can from
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: anybody around you, you know, and only listen to people
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: that are doing better than you, because there's all these
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: people and they want to tell you how to create,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: what to do whatever. The people that write reviews on
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: shit and slam other people's stuff have never done anything
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: in their life to fucking create anything. Those are the
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: people they hide behind their screens. They'd never come up
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: to my face and say this stuff. But they're the
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: ones that are always tearing you down. And it's you
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: got to be resilient. And I think when you have
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: a big light that you're trying to shine out there,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: there's forces that are always going to try to be
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: distracting you from who you are and what you're doing.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: And you just got to not let that steer your
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: joy and try to keep going. I'm no master of that.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I deal with stuff all the time. I'm like really
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: like again, like, but it's I know that it's my
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: cross to bearer and as the leader, and it's really
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: not up to the fan. Fans shouldn't have to know
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: they're struggle and all that. They just know that they
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: come to a show and they get an amazing experience
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: and they can come back the next time. And it's
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: competitive in that way. If you're not doing something that's
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: special every time you come back to a city, if
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: you play the same show, they're not going to keep
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: coming back. So you got to keep reinventing what you're
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: doing and how to engage and have a great show.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: On that note, matter of fact, my wife and I
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: when we were dating, you were You guys were the
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: first concert we went to together as a couple, and
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: I your boy was fired up. When Inner sand Man
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: comes into the fold, can you talk about, you know,
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: mixing over into that genre you're you're covering. You got
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: Inner sand Man going to Metallicon, next thing you know,
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: they're playing at your shows.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, it's you know, I love those curveballs
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: where you play things that people would never expect you
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: to play, Like we'll pull out some rage or we'll
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: pull out some Beastie boys or pull out something. I
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: love being able to just play what I want to play.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: There's nobody is telling me I can't do that, or
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: I can't record this, or I can't do that. But
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: for us dynamically, like, there's not a lot of people
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: that just love one little type of music in one thing.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: There's some purists, but a lot of people like we're
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: exposed lots of things like I love good hip hop,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: I love good DM I love good jazz, good swing,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: good whatever it is. That's that's going on. And so
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: we make the music we want to make. But in
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: our live shows, if you haven't seen our bands one,
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: you have to see to kind of get it and
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: understand what it is. And it's different every time we come.
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: But you know, there's gonna be things that we're going
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: to play that no one would expect us to play, Like,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: oh my god, what are.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: They when saw looked over, Wow, what do you know
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: about this rout?
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: For the first dates? Yeah, yeah, that's awesome. I love
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: that you talked about every decision you may make as
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: a crossroads when you're going through the path that you're
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: going through. What are some decisions that you might have
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: made in the past that you would change now.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: Man, I think maybe maybe opening my mouth a little
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: bit about how I feel about certain things, Like I
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: definitely have strong opinions. I'm definitely you know, as far
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: as music goes, Like I can respect that somebody has
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: their hustle and a lot of people love it. I
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: might not love it, but I think I shouldn't maybe
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: looking back on some of the things, I shouldn't really
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: talk about how I feel about other people's craft necessarily
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: just because it doesn't do it for me. It doesn't
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: mean that it's bad, and I try to preface it
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: with that. But I'm a music snob in the sense
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: that I want to hear something that moves me. I
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: want to be inspired by it. I want to hear
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: somebody say something in a way that hasn't been said
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: with the right melody, with the right harmony, with the
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: right thing to move me. So I definitely think there
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: are times when people have asked my opinion on things
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: and I didn't think that that was going to be
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: shared out to the fucking world that did that got
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: shared out, and it was like, that wasn't my intention
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: to do that was to try to, you know, say
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: something you know about somebody else's craft. You know. I
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: think there's a couple of times where I wish I
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: had just not shared my opinion about it on things.
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: So I try to be a little more aware of that.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: But it's also the level of sensitivity that's required these
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: days compared to when I grew up, is, you know,
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: it's crazy now the level of sensitivity a lot of
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: the world has. But hopefully it's swinging back the other
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: way a little bit. I see some good hope and
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: good things. And I'm a big comedy fan, so I
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: grew up with listening to Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: and you know, George Carlin and things, and seeing the
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: zuber sensitivity of the last few years. And now it
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: seems to be lighting up and people can just do
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: things for a laugh again, like we need to laugh,
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: We need Music is medicine, Laughing is medicine, and those things.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: So I love those things too, and I write like
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: some dirty, raunchy songs. My sense of humor is dark,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: like I have a dark sense of humor, yea, and
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: I love it. That's what keeps us laughing and going
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: down the road. But my heart is solid gold, like
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: I don't. You know. I never want to do anything
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: at the expense of someone else, you know. And I
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: think sometimes in the past, when I've talked about certain things,
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: that's something that maybe that I would change. But I
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: would also not try to do eighty businesses at one time.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: I would be more singularly focused on the things that
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: are the best use of my time. You know, you
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: drink out of a fire hydrant. I try to have
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: a record label, had a huge building with like one
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: hundred and sixty five thousand square feet where I was
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: manufacturing things, manufacturing knives and leather bags and see and
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: See woodshops, see and See metal shop, and all of
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: our graphic artists, our film company, all of our accountants,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: had an autobody shop in there. We did like custom
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: vehicles and things like that and.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: Literally everything everything more and trying to be a dad.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: Yeah, r to write music.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have definitely simplified things a lot. But
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: I think that's something that I had to learn on
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: my own that you know, you only have so much time,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: and if you can't do something really well, which takes
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: a significant amount of your pod chart, if your time
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: is a pod chart, those things take up time. And
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: if you have so many things, just because you can
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: do something doesn't mean you should. You can collaborate with
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: somebody that's already making it or doing it or doing something,
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: and like be creative in a way that you want.
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: But I'm an artist, like not just in music, that's
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: just one of the mediums. That's the medium I've spent
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: the longest time on. But I like to make things.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: I like to create things, and I'm always studying gear,
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: like people's people's gear that they make, Like as far
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: as the knives go, like I would forget knives, and
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: there would be one thing I hated about it. I
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: love the knife, I hate the clip or I love
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: the clip, hate the knife. And so I wanted to
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: fix that, Like all the things that I know functionally
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: that a knife should be, I want to make that.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: So we did it, American made, and you know, but
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: it's but it's hard. It's hard for knife makers right now,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: especially because like Instagram took all knife makers off. They
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: don't allow it on there. You know, they consider it weapons.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: And really so so many great knife makers right now
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: don't really have a market a marketing vehicle to broadcast
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: and sell the things that they make anymore. That's part
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: of the sensitivity for things. But you know, I've carried
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: a knife in my pocket since I was five years old,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: and I feel naked without one.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: Well, five years old doesn't feel very responsible.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: I did. I want my pocket everything I want to.
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: I didn't take it out, I didn't brandish it. I
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: wasn't like showing it off to other kids. But I
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: had one, and I just like knowing, Yeah, that's our
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: site there for Sunday different.
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: Stuf Zachary, give you the knife before you go to school.
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: Mom, Come on, I love the clip.
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: I love the knife. Gives it to and then grabs
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: one in a little secret space for sure.
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: Yeah, figure out how to say no when everything's kind
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: of going your way. It's got to be a very
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: difficult thing.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: They know a lot to be saying yeah.
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: Everyone's want. Everybody wants something from you. You have you
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: believe in your head because you're younger, you're like, I
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: can do everything, And they say yes to so many things,
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, you have so many irons
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: and so many different fires, and it's like, what what
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: do you really have time for? Because everything's kind of
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: turning on is okay?
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: Not great? You don't have time to take care of
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: yourself right, And and you have to look every few
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: years and redefine what success means to you currently, because
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: at first it was like, Okay, how do we get
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: number one songs on the radio? How do we do that?
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: And then we built a whole team to be able
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: to do that and did that for six years, and
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: then it just you don't get a number one song
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: because you have a good song. You get one because
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: you serviced every major company out there and giving them
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: free shows and free things and showing up and done it,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: and then you have a good song too. That's that's reacting,
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: But giving that much away. When I had little ones
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: at home for so long, I just got to the
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: point where I was like, I don't care how it
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: affects my you know, the amount of money that I make.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: I care about just being a sane human being. And
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: I had to disconnect from it for four or five years,
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: so I stopped doing all of those things and just
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: focused on playing shows because you become a politician, you
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: become you know, it's all political, all of those things.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: If you're gonna win an award show, it's because you're
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: with a label that has a huge voting chair and
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: the amount of votes that go to that thing, and
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: then they trade with another label that has, like they
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: might want dis labels votes for their artists that they
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: don't not competing in and they will trade their votes
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: and things. So you look behind the curtain on a
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: lot of those things, and I'd just rather not be
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: someone's horse than to have to go, you know, be
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: the monkey they let out of the cage and tell
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: you what to do, what to create, how to create it,
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: and all those things. We're never going to win Entertainer
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: of the Year or anything like that or whatever because
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: we're not part of those We're not one of their horses.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: And they do a great job glorifying their artists and
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: the perception of public perception of those people by doing that.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: But for us, I mean, we sell out stadiums and
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: that's an award for us every night, and I try
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: to remind my band of that because they'll invite us
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: to come and nominate us, but we're they want to
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: have a chance in hell and winning, and it's always
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: disappointing for my band. And I'm like, hey, like we're winning.
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: We win because we get to do what we want
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: to do, be ourselves, play the music, connect to our
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: fan base, which no one can take away from us,
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: and it's just a different kind. It's it's how you
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: measure it. You know, how you measure your success, and
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: it's always a moving target and always feeling out. So
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: this was a year where I was like, we need
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: a spectacle. We need something that's a big reminder to
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: cut through things because people can listen to a million
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: different things that's free on their phone. You get on
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: YouTube and listen to millions of different things.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: The access to music is bigger than ever.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: And so you need to have something to cut through that.
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: What are you going to do that's big enough to
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: make people pay attention and realize, oh shit, they're not
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: just complacent and slowing down and just like you know,
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: riding off into the sunset, Like we're pushing the boundaries
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: of what we can do for our fans. And that's
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: why we're doing Sphere. You know, the Sphere show December
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: is the is the biggest project we've ever taken on
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: by tenfold, and it's important to do something that's unforgettable
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: there to just remind people. I want to be in
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: that same you know, legacy era or legacy act as
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: like the Rolling Stones are the Grateful Dead, and that
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: what that requires is your community that you create around
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: your music and you're following and all those things. You
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: have to do something to keep them engaged, to keep
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: them going and artistically, this is the greatest canvas that's
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: ever been created for creativity and getting to do that
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: is a huge honor and it's a massive undertaking in
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: the middle of everything that's happening. So making this album,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: finishing it, producing it the same night of the first show.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: This Fear is the album release, So all the promo
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: this entire year is leading up to that first night
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: at the Sphere. But making great music. You know, I
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: feel better now than I did twenty years ago, Like
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: I feel, I feel great creatively. I've learned a lot.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: I've learned a lot about producing, how to make the
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: music translate the way that I want leading the band,
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: and it's just it's cool. This is a cool year.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: It's one of those years to bet on yourself because
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: it's not a big money making opportunity, but it's exposure
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: wise and prestige wise is the biggest thing that there is.
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: Have you been able to check out a couple of
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: shows out the sphere.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: I've been a five buddy.
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: We were able to go to the UFC in September.
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: That's my favorite sport, and then, my.
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: God, it was it was like a Mortal Kombat scene
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: every single time, and they would change it and there'd
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: be a storyline that brought up both of the fighters,
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: like I've never seen anything like it. And you're watching
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: it and looking up, but then you look behind you
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: and there's even more going on behind you that it's true,
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: like almost a three hundred and sixty degree view of
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: all these incredible things. It was amazing.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I love Dana that Dana did that there. UFC is
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: my favorite sport, So I competed in judo in college
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: and then I learned about all of the positions and
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: everything in MMA and watching from like King of the
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: Cage like Super early on to watching Pride to watching
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: you know, UFC when it started. But I've been like
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: a fan of it, like religiously if I watched like
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I played football eleven years. I love football, but UF
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: sees my that's my jam, like religiously watch it all
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: the time. It's yeah for sure.
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: Well, and watching the evolution of the sport from back
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: when it was single disciplines of everybody coming in competing
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: with each other, and then jiu jitsu was just so
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: superior early on. But now everybody trains jiu jitsu. They
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: all trained wrestlingy all train moti, they all trained boxing,
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: they all train and now you've seen literally the worst
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: guy in the UFC would have killed everybody back in
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: those early UFC days just because of marrying of everyone's
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: discipline from all over the world.
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: Remember that first UFC was like the big fat guy. Yeah,
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: where he catches the kick.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: Where he catches the kick in the mouth. We're thinking
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: of the same one. Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: JP JP's he's.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: Talking about Paul Varlins. Maybe the guy that got leg
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: kick to death.
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: Yeah, well there's this, there's this lanky guy gets his
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: fat dude, he kind of catches him on all fours
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: and just slices him right there in the mouth.
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: Or there's like no weight classes.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: There's ways wearing a gee out there. Yeah that's Ken
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: Shamrock and uh oys Gracie right there.
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: Just putting the heel in the ribs. Mike, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: it's uh it's a sport like you play football for
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: as long as we have to play, and you're like, man,
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: we're really tough. And then you walk in and watch
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: those fights go down. If you I don't know if
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: you've ever been to one, but if you can go
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: check out ufc Apex like the smoothest, small little like
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: maybe like two hundred hundred people in there. The intimacy
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: of that fight is crazy. It's just like family and friends,
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: right and people come in you can hear every blow.
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: He literally put a headset on and listen to them
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: the cornerstalk. It is crazy.
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: And not that the dudes aren't the hungriest at the
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: top of the main event, but those are the those are.
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: These They're all going for a knockout like they're going
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: for the kill every single time. It's a it's so
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: much fun. Man. We've been to I don't even know
- 1:44:24Speaker 3: how many.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: Now. I love going to fights when I can go.
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: We're going out next week. I can't wait.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, there was back then there was a
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: guy man your yard row who was just he was
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: like a sumo wrestler. He was like six hundred and
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: something pounds and he follow this dude, Keith Hackney, which
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: is like two twenty and he was like a ken
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: poke karate guy.
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: Mm hmmm.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: I mean the guy was curling like four plates, the
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: summer wrestler guy just just repping four plates like this
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: just just unbelievably strong. But that guy, like that's him,
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: that's the man. He first Hackney comes in and chops
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: him like a ridge hand on his nose, knocks him
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: down and then breaks his hands like smashing it on
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: the back of his head because he couldn't get up.
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: But you can watch the first part of this, uh
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: first part of this fight right here. This dude just
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: in the middle, he's six hundred pounds.
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: You don't say.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: That is there. It is right there, right in the nose.
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: And he's down and then oh no, rules, he gets
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: get out. He got out.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: And then and then he couldn't get up and he
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: broke his hand smashing trying to punch. This guy's head
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: was like a rhinoceros, froze it out of the cave,
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: broke the cable ties on the cage.
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: Just wearing clothes.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: Yeah, he gets he gets him down again. He ends
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: up winning, but he couldn't compete further because this is
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: back when his brackets you time tonight, no way back
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: when it was like Dan seven days and guys like that.
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: That are guys get done.
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: He went down again. And now look right here, this
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: is way he broke his hand. There's no gloves, the
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: wrists aren't taped.
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: He's just getting just straight.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: This is blood on the back of that.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: Yeah, this is just this is cock fighting. Yeah, whipping
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: that thing.
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: That's John McCarthy to John McCarthy.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: Then I love this sports so much. This is my
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: favorite and getting to hang with the fighters. So I
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: was telling y'all, I think from I've never lost a
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: game of slaps in my life. And so you put
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: your hands here, one guy's here, one guy's here, and
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: you have to hit their hands and when you miss,
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: it's the other person's turn, and whoever gives up first loses.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: But I've been playing with some of the UFC fighters,
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: like we'll go to the fight and hang out beforehand,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: like I played with Diego Lopez and some of the guys.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: But it's it's it's a super fun game. And I
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: love watching the slap fighting too. So fun.
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: You'll go get the UFC guys beat them again. Oh yeah,
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: and you know too, they're sleeping video evidence of this.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's on.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: It's online of you beating them in slaps. Yeah, okay,
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: pull it up.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: Sure, he said, looking at his eyes.
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: And you said you competed in jiu jitsu.
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I was on a judo team, uh, in my college.
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: So that begs the question of all the musicians out
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: there that are around your age and weight class, is
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: there anybody you think that would give you a run
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: for your money in the octagon.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: Oh, I'm not gonna.
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: I don't. I don't roll anymore because my fingers fair
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: so you're gonna rip your fingers on Gee's and stuff too.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: So I don't roll anymore. But I love I love
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: to watch it, and I'll play slaps with somebody. That's
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: that's my game. I'll play. But you're slapping each other's
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: hands instead of each other's faces.
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we would, uh in high school, we would
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: do like during camp, we would do, uh, like all
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: the freshmen that get us all together make us do
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: like slap boxing, and then we'd all go into like
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: somebody's room and then you two you have to slap
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: box each other. Sitting there as the first one being
- 1:47:59Speaker 3: like please, God, don't want to do this, right, but
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: then you have to.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: You're a giant, dude.
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but I was like Mic from Monsters, Inc. Dude,
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: I was like kind of round in the middle of
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: skinny old limbs. I got my ass tossed around a
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: little bit. I'll be honest, but yeah, it's not as
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: much fighting as I can.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: Do me and.
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: Just put both of our names there.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: Yeah, let's say we got to see it.
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: So you start start hands on the head.
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: Hands on the head, the other person puts their hands down,
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: and if you if you separate your hands more than
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: like four or five times, then the other person who
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: can change hands. So then you got to keep it
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: together if you've already given your whiffs or whatever. But
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: you read when they're going to do it, and it's
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: just straight straight down slapping their hands and you try
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: to slap them as hard as you can. But there
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: are people that are just tough and wouldn't give up.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: I play with one of the dudes. It was an
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: American Gladiator, remember they guy Wolf that was like you
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: ever watch American Gladiator?
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: I remember, I remember watching American Glady.
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: I played with him and he wouldn't give up. And
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: his hand was like swollen that far bus at all
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: the blood vessels in his hand, and he just he
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: wouldn't give up. And I'm like, it hurt my hand
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: from slapping him. Yeah, he's a he's that guy.
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he wasn't.
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: He wasn't, but he was just tough. He's just like,
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: I don't care if you break my fucking hand. You know.
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: It was not giving up. But he was singing a
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: county of music for a little while. He's got this big,
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: like deep voice, So he was hanging out around Nashville
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: for a while.
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: That's awesome. Love and fear, What do people have to
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: look forward to? And do you feel a sense of
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: like nerves knowing the expectation of Zach Brown band coming
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: out with this.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: New album, not at all. I've bled over this album
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: and these recordings and all of the press and all
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: the content for Spear and all the things. So I'm
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: super proud of it. I was proud of this as
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: any record I've ever made. Spend a lot of time
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: writing and a lot of time producing it and arranging
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: it with my band, and I love it. Every three
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: years you get a snapshot of like the best songs
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: that I've written in that amount of time, and but
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: having a Snoop on song, having Dolly on a song,
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: and then I wrote with Dave Grohl on one of
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: the tunes. It's uh, I love it. Those are my babies, man.
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: The songs are like your babies you chase. I chase
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: songs all the time, chasing them all year long. And
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: then the best ten or twelve or thirteen or whatever
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: you put on an album every two or three years.
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, isn't it We were saying it before we
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: got on, But isn't it wild that you've like owned
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: a decade of music? Like do you ever have those
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: big perspective moments And it's like.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm always focusing on COVID was the first time
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: that I slowed down enough where I actually could reflect
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: on what I've done. Because I'm always moving forward. I'm
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: always like where we're going, not where we've been, But
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to have to figure it all out again.
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: I know that, right.
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: Yeah, when you have a level of success, when you
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: look back on it, it's like I can't believe I
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: did all that. That's awesome, But then the thought of
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: like if I had to do it again, could I Yeah,
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: I know, yeah, because there's so many trials. Man, that
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: is I thought you were I thought you were a dog.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: I am, she's going on. I got a daughter going
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: to UT. Okay, I got a daughter going to UT
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: and I got a daughter going to Georgia Tech.
- 1:51:13Speaker 3: So now I'm oh my god, Georgia it's crazy.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Yeah, part time yellow Jacket, part time Longhorn, but always
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: a dog unless I mean Texas is playing the dogs,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: I'm going dog.
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: It's a house yeah, house divided for sure.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: I like that last game of the year I got
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: to play Georgia Tech.
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: Yeah last year. That was a crazy match. That quarterback
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: almost gutted it out for us.
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: There you can get sneaky man. Georgia Tech solid. They're
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: a good squad.
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: But like question, I think I'm thinking of a there's
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: a couple more bruin in my brain. Go ahead, brew Way, dude.
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: When you were when you were writing, Like when you're
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: writing music, what is the like emotional process like to
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: where you're writing for healing or like writing to like
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: open up an old wound, Like what is that? What
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: is that? I guess overall process like for you, sometimes
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: it's like are you diving into something? You're like, Oh,
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: I kind of want to back off of this.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: You know, it's a good that's a good question. It
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: happens all different kinds of ways. Sometimes you'll finish the
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: song in two hours. Sometimes I'll sit on a song
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: for eleven years until I have the right line that's missing.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: It's sometimes it's about something personal to me, but maybe
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: from a different perspective. Like there's a song on the
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: new album that's coming out. It's called thank You for
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: Loving Her, and it's a love song basically telling the
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: guy that got her next, like thank you for taking
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: care of her because I care about her even though
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: it didn't work between us. So when I find something
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: that hasn't really been done, I've never heard anybody write
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: a love song to the other guy that ends up
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: with her, right, Yeah, So it's for me, it's always
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: what what do I have to say if we have
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: a conversation and something said and I'm like, that's something
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: that I believe in. How do I turn that into
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: a phrase? How do I make that a hook of
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: a song? It? Man, it happens all different kinds of ways.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: Sometimes you have a melody, you have a guitar part,
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: and you're like, you write something to sing to it.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: Sometimes you just come up with the melody of what
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: you want to hear and then you put the words
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: into it. A song kind of finds you in a
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: weird way, like it's there's bits and pieces of things.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: But I like to go somewhere really beautiful, like on
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: my spearfishing trips. That's usually when I write, like, We'll
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: go somewhere beautiful, spearfish all day, come back, hang around,
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: sip the guitars and buy the ocean and write. You know,
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: being somewhere really beautiful helps with inspiration to write. But
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: you know, some songs are just to be Like the
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: Snoop song we have on there, that's a song about
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: smoking herb and it's like if my mom have a
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: song about that, we got to get Snoop on it.
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: That's the purpose of that's not as deep. But then
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: there's songs. There's one on this new record called the Sum,
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: and that's like, as far as I can see, the
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: way that you choose to live your life no matter
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: what other people says or does, you have to you
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: let me explain the lyrics of it. So it says
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: no good deed goes unpunished and no turn left unstoned.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: So I find sometimes the people that I've done the
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: absolute most for are the ones that feel somewhat entitled
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: to ignite some greed or at nite something where they're
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: coming back and then next thing, you know, if things
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: don't work out and they're gone, they're the ones trying
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: to like extort you. And people ask me like, well,
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: how do you ever trust anybody? But I think all
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: that is a test to see if that's going to
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: change your fabric of who you are, if you get
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: jaded by other people's behavior and it changes the way
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: you handle things. I like to err on the side
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: of generosity with people always because I know I did
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: everything in my power to do it, So even necessarily
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: if that person doesn't necessarily deserve that, I like to
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: do it because I know I did the right thing.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: And this is the song about that and it's you know,
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: no turn left unstoned. It's like sometimes when you're trying
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: to do the most amount of good is when you
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: the shit falls and flies on you than anything. So it's, uh,
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: you can't let those things change you. And I made
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: a reference on there. You know, if if we try
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: to act like Jesus and end up on the cross,
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: remember we can rise again no matter what we lost.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: It's like, I think being a good person is doing
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: the right thing even if someone doesn't deserve it, and
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: knowing that's who you are, and not letting the amount
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: of times that people come stab you in the back
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: change the fabric of who you are. And that's the
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: sum of who we are, all the hardship we've learned,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: the dumb shit we've done, and learned not to do
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: that anymore, like the breaking we have of ourselves and
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: the healing that we have, Like we're the sum of
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: those two things. That's the sum of who we are.
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: Is like and you need the dark to see the stars,
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: so all the bad things that happen help you really
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: appreciate all the good things and the good people and
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: the good things like that, so that one's as deep
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: as any song I've ever written, and that's on that'll
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: be out on the seventeenth of this month. That one
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: and the one I'm with Marcus King.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: It's coming out, Oh Marcus King. Yeah, that's awesome man.
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: Yeah, do you explain it to is incredible.
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, it's really cool to have
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: you on the bus. A massive fan. I know you've
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: got a lot of massive fans. You have the vacation
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: songs and everything else.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: You guys are crushing it.
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: They appreciate that crush. Thank you, thank you. It's because
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: of guys like you that are wanting to come on
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: the show. That's what it's all about.
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: Likewise, you're helping me spread spread my messages too, and
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: and uh, you know the show at the Sphere and that.
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: We gotta make it. Well, we should go out to
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: one for sure.
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: You should. You should.
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: It's the Spear Spear Fishing, so they just do a
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: little relationship.
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: We have a rock song on the album called Animal,
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: and I got Brock Lesnard to come out and film
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: with me, and there's a full like Marvel movie fight
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: between me and Brock in this scene. He's like part
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: of my like alter ego. Basically, because we fight between
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: being an animal and a civilized man all the time internally,
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: Like there's times when we just want to punch somebody,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: but we don't because we shouldn't and we can't. So
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: but there's that part of us that's doing it. So
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: it's like me splitting into two people and it's me
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: and Brock and we fight each other and then we
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: come back to.
- 1:56:57Speaker 5: That.
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: Did challenge Jason now the into at slap fight. He's like,
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: there's better ways to make money. I think that.
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: Was yeah, man, two wolves. Better be a warrior and
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: a gardener and a garden than a gardener in a war.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: All those phrases, man, they all play.
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: Well, those are songs, man, that's what Those are things
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: that you hear and you're like, I can make that
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: a story, can make that apply. And you try to
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: write something so it applies. If it applies to me
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: and it hits me really deeply, if I'm doing it right,
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: You're gonna feel a resonance in your life of what
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: I'm writing about. That's why Great Country Songs is like
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: the last true form of American poetry that people like
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: actually listen to. I mean, there's some people I'm sure
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: into poetry still, but you hear a good song, it's timeless,
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: like a good song will live on and on. So
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: that's what I'm chasing. That's that's what I'm chasing. That's
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: my main medium. But that's how I've been able to
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: build a camp that's and help kids and help veterans
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: and raise my family. So I encourage young people to
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: take find something when when you find what you want
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: to do, don't chase money. Stay out of debt so
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: you can chase that now with everything you have, but
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: find something to give back that you believe in, and
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: start that early on in your journey, because that's going
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: to directly feed your success and feed a bigger cause
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: other It's something bigger than yourself, because serving you can
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: be People think they're happy when they're rich and have
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: cars and a nice house and all this shit or whatever.
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: That's not what makes people happy. What really makes people
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: happy is serving other people. And until you do that
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: and learn that and align it with your business, then
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: you're you're kind of missing out on a lot of
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: the meaning. I feel like we're here to sharpen each other,
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: We're here to help each other, raise each other up.
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: Expand each other, help each other to be better. That's
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: in my tribe, in my world. That's what I try
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: to keep around me. But that's served me really well.
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: Well said, that's awesome. That is you want to hit
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: them with the bud light.
- 1:58:45Speaker 3: Well, I do have one question. Okay, of all the
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: songs that you have are out right now, what's the
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: one song you're most proud.
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: Of right now? It's the song with Dolly Parton. It's
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: called Butterfly's First Song. I wrote on the piano because
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: I can play piano, but I don't really write on it.
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: So I sat down and tried to write a song
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: and that's what came out, and song for my kids.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: But having Dolly the legend absolutely murder it. When you
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: listen to what she sang on that and how she
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: sang it, you wouldn't know she was twenty five or eighty.
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: It's it's unbelievable that that one is one right now
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: that I'm so crazy proud of. And I just love
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: her and everything she stands for. She's done so much
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: in philanthropy as well with her career. Just an incredible
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: woman and.
- 1:59:28Speaker 3: She's truly one of one, and she's hot yeah, kind of.
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: She's about to be eighty years old and she's hot,
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: and she's still as talented as any human on the earth.
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: She's awesome, man, I do it Like when I was
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: with the Titans, there was those fires in Gatlinburg and
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: they were doing like a telethone for it. Yeah, so
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: the Titans, the Amy adamstung. She gave like, I don't
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: know if it was like a fifty thousand dollars check
- 1:59:48Speaker 3: or whatever, but me and Drell Casey presented it to
- 1:59:51Speaker 3: her on stage and she kissed me on the cheek.
- 1:59:54Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:59:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: I went home and I was like, this is one
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: of the biggest moments of my life.
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it was unbelievable. It is.
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: She is such an icon.
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: Man. Some of those fires, I sent my food truck
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: up there and we fed people. That was back when
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: I used to do eating greets. So every single show.
- 2:00:09Speaker 3: We agreed is a great idea.
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: We set up. We had a feather like tractor trailer,
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: a million dollar kitchen that was an attractor trailer, this
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: full self contained, full twelve foot vent hood tilt skillet
- 2:00:21Speaker 1: walk in freezer in the front of it. But we'd
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: feed people every single show that we did. We'd have
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty fans and sponsorship people and people
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: like that. We'd feed them. We had a local chef
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: and a bus that had hospitality people that ran. It
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: was like throwing a wedding every day. We did that
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: for six years on the road, and it got it
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: got it got a little bit dangerous where there were
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: some crazy people that were coming in. And sometimes when
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: it literally felt dangerous, like this lady just gotten out
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: of jail. She'd been writing letters about it. If I
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: can't have him, no one can kind of thing, and
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: coming in and the lady's pacing behind me while I'm
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: talking to people, and the access it gave got a
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: little sketchy after a long time. But that's what we
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: threw every single show for six years, and and they
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: go to local farms and whatever town we're in, whatever
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: state we're in. In Ohio. Our chef, Rusty, he's this big,
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: huge personality, that's him Cajun chef. He's hilarious. But he
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: would go get local protein, local produce and come back
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: and we would cook it up for everybody and serving
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: food and just to show them that we're one of
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: the people. And it was a great connector for us
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: and our fans. It was. It was a lot of work,
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: but it was it was great.
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: That's awesome. And that is also terrifying somebody getting out
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: of prison writing letters about I was gonna kill me.
- 2:01:32Speaker 3: That is that the scariest interaction.
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: That one was. And she was pacing behind me saying,
- 2:01:35Speaker 1: I can't go back to jail. I can't go back
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: to jail. I can't go out to jail. And like
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: her eyes is shifty and the whole thing dude like ship.
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: But it was, Yeah, it was sketchy a few times
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: like that, and I was like, Okay, we can't do
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: this anymore, like it's just another thing that you know. Yeah,
- 2:01:52Speaker 1: but we sent that food truck to Gatlinburg when that happened,
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: and we fed all the first responders and all the
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: people during the fires, and we had people slinging food
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: out of there for a couple of weeks for them,
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: great people up there. It's a veriable like.
- 2:02:04Speaker 2: Look at old Rusty. Know.
- 2:02:05Speaker 3: I love the pitt up girl too, Jef.
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: Rusty Russ is a dog and that's some good food
- 2:02:11Speaker 1: or serving too.
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: Man, All right, bud light question right. People would do
- 2:02:16Speaker 3: anything for an ice, cold, bud light. What is something
- 2:02:18Speaker 3: that you, Zach Brown, would do anything for.
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: Besides my kids, I can't say family. I can't say
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: my family. Man. I think I would. I would. I
- 2:02:28Speaker 1: would do anything to help people. I think that's that's something.
- 2:02:33Speaker 1: Like I'm not one of those guys that's gonna watch
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: somebody get stabbed to death and stand there and film it. Like.
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: I don't understand that I would have to jump in.
- 2:02:42Speaker 1: I don't have a choice, but but I would. I
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: would do something to help someone. If I saw someone
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: getting hurt or whatever, I would definitely jump in to
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: try to help. Like, I don't know if that's the
- 2:02:54Speaker 1: most interesting answer, but it's it's true. You know, I
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: protect my people with my business, you know. And I
- 2:03:03Speaker 1: don't want to make my decisions based on fear. That's
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: the whole concept of loving fear. You're making your decisions
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: on things. If you let fear govern what you're gonna do,
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: you're not gonna do anything great. You gotta you gotta
- 2:03:14Speaker 1: be tough enough to suck at what you're doing long
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: enough to be good at it and then keep plowing,
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: keep going. I love it.
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: I do too, Bro, This has been amazing. Yeah, I
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: really appreciate you. My pleasure, massive fans.
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: Let's go spearfishing.
- 2:03:31Speaker 3: Let's go spearfishing. Let's do that. All the boys get down.
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: There, he said, I want to see you again.
- 2:03:40Speaker 3: I'm snucking cold the Weaver.
- 2:03:44Speaker 2: Maybe tomorrow. He's like, can I call?
- 2:03:50Speaker 1: That's one of my favorites. I've been waiting to write
- 2:03:53Speaker 1: a song that's the follow up to that. And that
- 2:03:55Speaker 1: is the song. Oh really, the songs our follow up.
- 2:03:59Speaker 1: That new song Sonny about that's the follow up the
- 2:04:01Speaker 1: Colder Weather.
- 2:04:02Speaker 2: So there's a sequel.
- 2:04:03Speaker 1: There's a sequel.

- 2:04:53Speaker 1: So that whole suit was airbrushed with black light paint
- 2:04:56Speaker 1: so it looked like a normal blue suit plane. But
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: then we're playing and literally hit to turn the lights
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: off and the black lights on and then we're human
- 2:05:03Speaker 1: skeletons playing music. Yeah, that's one of our gigs. The
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: whole band was like that. I was tied into a harness.
- 2:05:09Speaker 1: They picked four of us up off the ground and
- 2:05:10Speaker 1: I would like fly out over the crowd and the
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: free skeleton suits. A spear is all the gags and

- 2:05:39Speaker 1: We used to do like a trunk or treat at
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: the kids and stuff. We used to just have all
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: our friends come, bring their cars and set up trigger
- 2:05:46Speaker 1: treats and stuff like that around. But now the tradition
- 2:05:48Speaker 1: is going over to Trilith, the neighborhood that's that my
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: kid's mom lives in, and they have huge neighborhood. There's
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: like fifteen hundred houses that are ten feet apart from
- 2:05:59Speaker 1: each other. So literally just fill up a trash bag
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: full of ship. You know. But when I was a kid,
- 2:06:04Speaker 1: I would I would hide pods of candy all over everything.
- 2:06:08Speaker 1: Nobody told me as a kid, I shouldn't eat all
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: this garbage and stuff, so I was just going nuts
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: with it.
