- 0:02Speaker 1: We're here ft part of the FT Network.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I got to run through almost everything you and I
- 0:09Speaker 2: missed from Friday. On yesterday show, there was one other
- 0:12Speaker 2: thing and I was like, yeah, I'll save it for
- 0:13Speaker 2: the top here.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You know, we have new shows that were announced last week.
- 0:18Speaker 2: One of them is Bucco Territory and I've had a
- 0:20Speaker 2: long rides lately, so I've been listening to all of
- 0:22Speaker 2: those shows. It's it's only been a few episodes so far.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And they had one part where they were talking about
- 0:27Speaker 2: the free agency wish list for the Pirates and on
- 0:30Speaker 2: Friday and they broke the news to Josh Harrison that
- 0:34Speaker 2: the last time they signed a multi year contract for
- 0:36Speaker 2: a free agent was a von Nova in twenty sixteen.
- 0:39Speaker 2: The Harrison reaction was so good, maybe we can you
- 0:43Speaker 2: know what, let's sees this, Maybe we can show it
- 0:45Speaker 2: again in flappands for aj to live react because it
- 0:49Speaker 2: was that good.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It was genuine. Josh didn't know that.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, if you're not paying attention because they don't advertise that,
- 0:55Speaker 3: of course not.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And you're not going to see that on many other shows.
- 0:59Speaker 2: So you know what list He had a great wish list,
- 1:02Speaker 2: but they broke the.
- 1:03Speaker 3: New I'm sure he was probably like, oh, Kyle Tucker
- 1:05Speaker 3: would look nice and right here, it would look nice
- 1:08Speaker 3: and surest.
- 1:10Speaker 2: They did usually do like four categories. They did like
- 1:14Speaker 2: little unrealistic.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Then, which is everybody.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Basically everybody's unrealistic, besides the last one they did, which
- 1:20Speaker 2: was one year death.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Signings, it's true, which is what they do.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's when it came up because they were like, Josh,
- 1:26Speaker 2: just so you know, von Nova, they said the last
- 1:30Speaker 2: guy that was signed, you were on the team, and
- 1:32Speaker 2: he was like oh and they were like Nova and
- 1:34Speaker 2: He's like, what.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Nova was after Russell? Yeah, yeah, he was after Russell
- 1:38Speaker 3: Martin obviously.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Right, right, Russell Martin was a little before that.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Burnett was traded there, right, he wasn't signed now it
- 1:45Speaker 3: was a one year deal. Russell Martin was in fourteen.
- 1:47Speaker 3: They got him in the off season.
- 1:50Speaker 2: No, three year seventeen, I believe, because I think that's
- 1:56Speaker 2: the largest they've ever given out in free agency.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's sad that I have always memorized.
- 2:02Speaker 3: That's the biggest project you've ever signed in free agency.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm like, Russell martinsent sure.
- 2:08Speaker 3: So we're seven, twelve, twelve, thirteen and then fit Or
- 2:13Speaker 3: thirteen fourteen, and then in fifteen, Martin signed with the
- 2:18Speaker 3: Blue Jays off season fourteen.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 2: With Toronto he signed five years eighty two. Yeah, I'm
- 2:29Speaker 2: almost positive it's the largest.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Two years seventeen.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Wow, that's insane. Yeah, how's Bob gonna do anything when
- 2:38Speaker 3: they get the h when they get a salary camp,
- 2:41Speaker 3: how's he going to be able to afford it?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Well, we would have to have a floor. But that's anyway.
- 2:49Speaker 1: One other quick thing.
- 2:51Speaker 2: You're, of course watching us live on YouTube, if you're
- 2:54Speaker 2: watching us in real time, if you're watching us later
- 2:56Speaker 2: on high Hello, but also if you're listening to us
- 2:58Speaker 2: via podcast, then please follow us on there and rate
- 3:03Speaker 2: and review. We don't ask for it often, but it
- 3:05Speaker 2: would be cool. We wanted to give you time. You
- 3:07Speaker 2: have a little little extra time, maybe because you're not
- 3:09Speaker 2: watching games every night right now, but rate, review, Spotify, Apple, wherever.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You get him. Just want to throw that out there.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Let's charge charge.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Awards week and we start with Rookie of the Year
- 3:26Speaker 2: Nick Kurtz unanimous duh. Incredible offensive season from me. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 2: I mean if anyone didn't vote for him, it would
- 3:35Speaker 2: have been shocking.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah. The only I mean, the only thing he wondered
- 3:39Speaker 3: is would somebody throw a Wilson Jacob Wilson at him?
- 3:44Speaker 3: You know? But other than that, I mean Roman Anthony.
- 3:45Speaker 3: If he doesn't get hurt, he might steal some boats.
- 3:48Speaker 3: But yeah, this was this was pretty pretty, pretty easy
- 3:51Speaker 3: one to pick.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Kurtz's offensive season was insane.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah for Homer game.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah it started late a little bit.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but no that late. Now do you come up
- 4:00Speaker 3: in May?
- 4:01Speaker 1: I believe May. His first home run, I know was
- 4:03Speaker 1: in May. Do you know what his ops plus was?
- 4:08Speaker 2: It was like one sixty five one seventy three regular
- 4:12Speaker 2: ops one double oh two.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Wow, it's beefee.
- 4:19Speaker 3: It's incredible. You don't see I mean, I want to
- 4:22Speaker 3: see how many MVP votes he ends up getting. That's
- 4:25Speaker 3: always impressive when you see when you see rookies getting
- 4:29Speaker 3: MVP votes, but clearly like and this dude was in
- 4:32Speaker 3: college a year and a half, a year and a
- 4:34Speaker 3: half ago, I mean, how.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Many games played.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I mean, MVP votes will be tough, just because it's
- 4:42Speaker 2: one hundred and seventeen games played for eighty nine played appearances.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Jacob Wilson had this locked up and then he was like,
- 4:51Speaker 3: I got hurt saying it he did make that teammates.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Okay, wait, if Jacob Wilson didn't get.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Hurt and still play, Kurtz still might have got him.
- 5:02Speaker 1: He still would have lost.
- 5:03Speaker 3: No, No, Wilson, Wilson wouldn't have gotten him.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Right, Kurtz was winning no matter what.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Even if Jacob Wilson played a full season, it would
- 5:13Speaker 2: have been an awesome full season.
- 5:15Speaker 1: It's not historic. It's not Nick Kurtz.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Yeah, not even close. I mean it's really not. I
- 5:23Speaker 3: love when I love when it's unanimous and like it
- 5:26Speaker 3: should be unanimous. Like, I don't see how Jacob Wilson
- 5:29Speaker 3: can get any votes. Roman Anthony played really well, but
- 5:34Speaker 3: you know, maybe he would have taken some of the
- 5:37Speaker 3: votes if Nick Kurtz wasn't there. Clearly some people thought
- 5:39Speaker 3: he was the second best rookie this year. But I
- 5:42Speaker 3: mean Jacob Wilson, he was hitting. He was leading the
- 5:45Speaker 3: league and hitting for a majority of the season.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Anthony received three second place votes, twenty three second place
- 5:55Speaker 2: votes for Wilson in four third place votes. There was
- 5:58Speaker 2: a fourth and a fifth pegged to his name, But
- 6:00Speaker 2: for Kurt's thirty easy. I mean he led rookies in homers,
- 6:05Speaker 2: RBI's run, scored, walks, extra base hits, and yeah, missed
- 6:08Speaker 2: about a month because he was in the minors.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Call him up.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Thirty six homers, one hundred and seventeen games. The OPS
- 6:15Speaker 2: plus at one seventy three. Remember one hundreds league average
- 6:18Speaker 2: one seventy three is superstar. That tied him with Jose.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Don't say the no, you're wrong, it's wrong. It wasn't
- 6:25Speaker 3: there in twenty twelve, Hoose Brady, because I was there
- 6:27Speaker 3: in twenty twelve. He was not on the team, So
- 6:29Speaker 3: that year is wrong. Don't say it. I'm going to
- 6:32Speaker 3: correct you.
- 6:33Speaker 1: But the stats not right.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It might be the staff of the year is wrong.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Okay, but I can do a quick search. I'm very
- 6:40Speaker 1: fast at these these.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I know he wasn't on the White Sox in twenty
- 6:43Speaker 3: twelve because I was there.
- 6:44Speaker 1: It's just the wrong years.
- 6:45Speaker 3: That's what he said.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I didn't say the year.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Now I'm going to say it with the right year
- 6:49Speaker 2: and thank you. Twenty fourteen him with Jose Brady twenty
- 6:52Speaker 2: fourteen best OPS plus for a rookie with at least
- 6:55Speaker 2: four hundred played appearances, in the modern era, which is
- 6:57Speaker 2: since nineteen hundred. That was, yeah, twenty fourteen. Jose braw
- 7:03Speaker 2: very similar stats. I mean more plate appearances for Bray
- 7:08Speaker 2: you but thirty six that year for what.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Plus tax, josea braid is twenty seven, Kurts is twenty two.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Good call, that's true. M hm, that matters.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I played against in twenty ten when he
- 7:30Speaker 3: played for Team Cuba, and I was I remember thinking, dang,
- 7:35Speaker 3: this dude is like he's a grown man, and he
- 7:39Speaker 3: clearly was a grown man. And then four years later
- 7:42Speaker 3: he made it to made it to the big leagues.
- 7:47Speaker 2: This episode of FT is brought to you by Square.

- 8:46Speaker 1: to learn more.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Had a very successful run, had a great run, And Kurtz,
- 8:52Speaker 2: I mean at twenty two, you know, it feels like
- 8:55Speaker 2: a long time ago already because the is season ended
- 8:58Speaker 2: after you know, at the the September, and.
- 9:01Speaker 3: They really ended in an opening day.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It really ended in May. And this is why you
- 9:05Speaker 2: have the top two finishers for the A's with a
- 9:07Speaker 2: pretty good lineup in my mind heading into twenty twenty six.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And most of the world doesn't know these guys, but
- 9:16Speaker 2: if you're following baseball from a competitive standpoint, the A's
- 9:20Speaker 2: weren't in it for a while.
- 9:22Speaker 3: But just to remind you, just do this over here,
- 9:24Speaker 3: they're supposed to be better. Yeah, and then they have
- 9:26Speaker 3: a terrible first half and the second half they go off.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Why I don't know.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah, they have good second halves.
- 9:31Speaker 3: You're always They've done this for like a bunch of
- 9:33Speaker 3: years in a row. Now, why do they always have
- 9:35Speaker 3: been learning? They're learning learning. But they've also got a
- 9:39Speaker 3: bunch of guys that have been around now for a
- 9:41Speaker 3: while Bla Day, Rooker, Langeliers. These guys have been around
- 9:46Speaker 3: for a little while now. It's not like these guys
- 9:48Speaker 3: are all in their first year and.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Some of them had been big second half Soderstrom a
- 9:52Speaker 1: bunch of them at big.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I'm saying, but why don't they do that in the
- 9:55Speaker 3: first half?
- 9:57Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean the pitching was the problem overall.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yeah, Savarino how got off to a bad start, especially
- 10:03Speaker 3: in Sacramento.
- 10:05Speaker 2: There were a couple offenses in the second half of
- 10:07Speaker 2: the season that really went off as had a really
- 10:10Speaker 2: nice second half offensively.
- 10:11Speaker 1: The pitching got a little bit better.
- 10:13Speaker 2: The White Sox, of course, it's a really nice second half.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Some rebuild teams that look better in the second half
- 10:18Speaker 2: of the season. But anyway, for kurts I mean, is
- 10:21Speaker 2: the dream for the modern front office? Right, hits the
- 10:24Speaker 2: ball hard quality, abs can go all fields with the pop.
- 10:27Speaker 1: That's the at bat that you want. And he's big, big, Yes.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Strikes strikes out a lot though too, which is the
- 10:35Speaker 3: dream of the front office. Well, probably not the dream,
- 10:40Speaker 3: but they're just okay with it.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, they're okay with it. Although maybe things change a
- 10:44Speaker 2: little bit after what we saw from a team like Toronto.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Can you get the contacts and the slug balanced out
- 10:50Speaker 2: a little bit better like Toronto did?
- 10:53Speaker 1: Next up, Drake Baldwin. Some thought it would be close.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It was not.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Baldwin wins Rookie of the Year in the National League.
- 11:01Speaker 2: We don't have many catchers that win it. I'll show
- 11:03Speaker 2: you some.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I'm surprised Kate Horton wasn't closer, because if you dig
- 11:06Speaker 3: into Kate Horton's year after he came up, he was
- 11:08Speaker 3: the best pitcher in baseball. You can make that argument
- 11:11Speaker 3: in the second half. He was ridiculously good in the
- 11:14Speaker 3: second half.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Isn't it always weird when you're trying to do the
- 11:17Speaker 2: pitcher position player comp It's tough.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah. The next question for me is, congratulations Drake Baldwin.
- 11:25Speaker 3: But the Braves also have Sean Murphy under contract. So
- 11:28Speaker 3: you have the rookie of the year catcher and you
- 11:30Speaker 3: have another guy who said he was hurt and now
- 11:31Speaker 3: he got fixed. So do you trade one of them?
- 11:34Speaker 3: You trade Sean Murphy because he's under contract. Do you
- 11:37Speaker 3: sit one of them? Crass? Did you sit one of them?
- 11:41Speaker 3: No chance? You sit one of them? No chance? Yeah?
- 11:45Speaker 3: I mean that's that's where they're That's where that value is.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Sean Murphy is the highest paid catcher in baseball. Did
- 11:51Speaker 3: you know that? I didn't know that. No good for
- 11:55Speaker 3: him he is. Do you know what he's getting a year?
- 12:00Speaker 1: I thought it was fifteen?
- 12:01Speaker 3: Is fifteen?
- 12:04Speaker 2: Fifteen is the highest for a catcher. Nobody's above that.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Real Muto wasn't above that this year. Or you're saying
- 12:08Speaker 2: going into next year, what's the.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Same in the next year, going in the next year? Okay,
- 12:13Speaker 3: what's Salvey making? Salvey's making more than that? Are you
- 12:16Speaker 3: sure in this Salvy made seventeen? Is just signed a
- 12:18Speaker 3: deal for seventeen.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I thought, I'll get you all these numbers. We might
- 12:22Speaker 2: have to debunk this.
- 12:24Speaker 1: No.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Two for twenty five for Salvy for the next two years.
- 12:27Speaker 2: He's at twelve and change, twelve and a half. Real Muto,
- 12:31Speaker 2: I think was above.
- 12:33Speaker 3: But agent, he's a free agent.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, good sat.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I just I just what do they do? That's the
- 12:38Speaker 3: question for me.
- 12:39Speaker 1: What do they do tandem? One can do some DH time.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but that takes their value is in the catching Noo,
- 12:46Speaker 3: that's especially I mean Murphy really, Murphy was yes, Platinum
- 12:50Speaker 3: Glove winner. Yeah, Baldwin, I think Murphy. I think Murph
- 12:55Speaker 3: catches more. I'll be honest. I think Murph catches more,
- 12:58Speaker 3: and I think Baldwin dh is more. I mean, if
- 13:01Speaker 3: you look, if you if you dive into the stats,
- 13:04Speaker 3: trade Baldwin stats, there's something to be desired a little
- 13:08Speaker 3: bit behind the plate. You also got to remember what
- 13:10Speaker 3: the pitching staff he was working with, you know they
- 13:13Speaker 3: were they were running new guys in and out all
- 13:16Speaker 3: the time. To learn that in the big leagues. It's
- 13:17Speaker 3: tough enough if you have the same five guys. But
- 13:20Speaker 3: you know, he was asked to do a lot and
- 13:23Speaker 3: carry the load offensively. So if I were to guess,
- 13:27Speaker 3: I see Baldwin dhing a little bit more than Murphy
- 13:30Speaker 3: if stay healthy, I don't know why though you don't
- 13:33Speaker 3: you want to develop Baldwin into a player for the next.
- 13:37Speaker 1: You'll still it'll be a maybe a two third, one
- 13:39Speaker 1: third or something like that.
- 13:41Speaker 3: That's that's I think you got a trade. I don't
- 13:45Speaker 3: know if they can, but I think they try and
- 13:46Speaker 3: trade him.
- 13:47Speaker 2: They can absolutely trade him fifteen for a first division catcher.
- 13:52Speaker 2: You can trade him, Okay, I don't know. I feel
- 13:56Speaker 2: like they're going to keep him.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I like they're going to yeah, and he's coming off
- 14:01Speaker 1: surgery too.
- 14:02Speaker 3: But I'm just I don't know. It's fascinating because now
- 14:05Speaker 3: they went into this year thinking Murphy was gonna be
- 14:07Speaker 3: the guy, and then Murphy goes down and Baldwin steps
- 14:10Speaker 3: up to a point where now he's the rookie of
- 14:12Speaker 3: the year. You got to play him if you want
- 14:14Speaker 3: him to stick around, you want to develop him. Like
- 14:16Speaker 3: sticking a guy like that as a DH isn't really
- 14:18Speaker 3: good development. But then you're not getting Murphy.
- 14:23Speaker 1: He had hip surgery, that's no joke.
- 14:26Speaker 3: But if he's healthy, he's gonna want to catch.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I think they'll figure it out, and it is really
- 14:32Speaker 2: valuable to have that kind of catch or depth. I mean,
- 14:35Speaker 2: this might not be the best example, but Will Smith
- 14:37Speaker 2: gets hurt. Ben road Vettz getting some starts and he
- 14:39Speaker 2: did a really nice job defensively, But then you get
- 14:41Speaker 2: Will Smith back for the bat from the catcher position,
- 14:44Speaker 2: where it's a dead position offensively for many teams.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It's pretty valuable if you look.
- 14:49Speaker 2: At one spot in the lineup that for many teams
- 14:51Speaker 2: is not doing much. So last thing here, really two things.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Actually one's a trivia question. Will be quick tenth catcher
- 15:02Speaker 2: to win Rookie of the Year, first one since Buster
- 15:06Speaker 2: Posey in twenty ten and just three in the last
- 15:10Speaker 2: thirty four years.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Do you know the other three? I'll go quick because
- 15:16Speaker 1: we're tight on time.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Mike Piazza nineteen ninety three, Carlton Fisk nineteen seventy two,
- 15:21Speaker 2: Johnny Bench nineteen sixty eight.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Wow, that Ale n l are both. I should have
- 15:27Speaker 1: looked that up.
- 15:28Speaker 2: And then the last thing that I really wanted to
- 15:29Speaker 2: get to was Atlanta getting a PPI pick and a
- 15:32Speaker 2: first round for having him on the roster all season
- 15:35Speaker 2: after being a top one hundred prospect entering the season.
- 15:38Speaker 2: That is very valuable for teams, but they lose it
- 15:41Speaker 2: if they sign someone that has a qualifying offer. Now,
- 15:44Speaker 2: they're not going to sign someone that's a qualifying offer.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Did you know that?
- 15:47Speaker 3: No? I didn't know that. What what kind of deal
- 15:50Speaker 3: do we?
- 15:50Speaker 1: Stupid? Are the rules?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Like? The rules are? So you wait, you get rewarded
- 15:54Speaker 3: for having a Rookie of the Year, but then if
- 15:56Speaker 3: you go out and want to spend money, you get.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Punished, punished, punished.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Why do I don't The qualifying offer to me is
- 16:01Speaker 3: one of those things. I just don't understand why it's

- 17:24Speaker 2: Here's a follow up to the Emmanuel Class Luis Orties
- 17:29Speaker 2: pitch rigging scandal. MLB and sports books came out and said,
- 17:35Speaker 2: and this is really all the major sports books that
- 17:37Speaker 2: they're going to limit prop bets very specifically on pitches
- 17:42Speaker 2: amid this gambling scandal. And you can read more, of
- 17:45Speaker 2: course in The Athletic and a number of other spots
- 17:47Speaker 2: that covered this. So what you need to know is
- 17:50Speaker 2: pitch level bets are maxed at two hundred dollars and
- 17:55Speaker 2: they can't be part of parlay rules. So for example,
- 17:59Speaker 2: a micro bet on a ball strike or pitch velocity,
- 18:04Speaker 2: which was the culprit in the investigation here the indictment
- 18:09Speaker 2: of Class A and or tease, those are capped at
- 18:12Speaker 2: two hundred dollars and you can't include them on parlays.
- 18:14Speaker 2: If you read that whole story, then you know how
- 18:19Speaker 2: there's some significant money made on some of what class
- 18:22Speaker 2: did you know?
- 18:23Speaker 1: Or teas?
- 18:23Speaker 2: It was a shorter period of time, But you can
- 18:25Speaker 2: also watch yesterday's video clip or segment of us talking
- 18:28Speaker 2: about this. The real question from this particular announcement, does
- 18:33Speaker 2: it matter? Would it make it a little less tempting
- 18:38Speaker 2: for someone like Emmanuel Classe who is accused of pitt ringing?
- 18:44Speaker 2: Would it make it less tempting because it would make
- 18:46Speaker 2: it more difficult for him to conspire with others to
- 18:49Speaker 2: make significant money.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Here's the thing I have with this. We talked about
- 18:54Speaker 3: this yesterday. Emmanuel class was in line to make a
- 18:59Speaker 3: lot of a lot of money, okay, and from if
- 19:02Speaker 3: these reports are accurate and we're not saying they are
- 19:05Speaker 3: he was doing this for like five thousand, six thousand,
- 19:07Speaker 3: seven thousand dollars instead of saying, man, if I just
- 19:11Speaker 3: hold off on this, I'm gonna be making twelve ten
- 19:14Speaker 3: to twelve million next year. Right. So will it stop people? Hopefully,
- 19:19Speaker 3: but you never know because some people just can't stop themselves.
- 19:22Speaker 3: And it's sad, right, It's a sad thing the world
- 19:25Speaker 3: that we live in where for everybody, you know, whether
- 19:27Speaker 3: it's gambling, alcohol, drugs, whatever, everyone has things. Not everyone,
- 19:32Speaker 3: but a lot people have things they can't stop themselves
- 19:35Speaker 3: from doing, right, And so if it's not about maybe
- 19:38Speaker 3: the money, maybe it's about something else. Right, But this
- 19:42Speaker 3: is a step in the right direction. And when people
- 19:44Speaker 3: ask me, now, when they see me, what about these
- 19:46Speaker 3: guys who were banned from gambling? And he's like, you know, you,
- 19:50Speaker 3: you know whatever, and I say, but it's regulated now,
- 19:52Speaker 3: so this is why we're catching people. Before it wasn't regulated,
- 19:55Speaker 3: he would never get caught, so they would never get caught,
- 19:57Speaker 3: hence the Pete Rose problem. Until the guy got trouble,
- 19:59Speaker 3: he like, oh, I'm not throw Pete Rose to the bus. Right.
- 20:02Speaker 2: So, for example, in baseball, do you really think Pete
- 20:06Speaker 2: Rose was the last major person to do some type
- 20:10Speaker 2: of Well, that's a little bit different. I'm talking about
- 20:15Speaker 2: a player influencing a game. Do you think you think
- 20:18Speaker 2: it was because it definitely happened.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Is the biggest scandal since Pete Rose?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Right?
- 20:23Speaker 1: Agreed?
- 20:24Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, well Show was.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Right, but that was a little bit different. That's you know,
- 20:30Speaker 2: Show Hay has cleared it. That was his his secondhand.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Dude in this case, do we really think that nobody
- 20:36Speaker 2: else was involved in anything for decades? Or was it
- 20:39Speaker 2: nearly impossible to catch anyone? Because the thing I hear
- 20:43Speaker 2: sometimes now it's popping up left and right. I'm like,
- 20:46Speaker 2: is it We had one no neighbor in baseball get
- 20:49Speaker 2: caught for doing dumb crap with it last year, and
- 20:52Speaker 2: then we have two pitchers doing something that. Yes, I agree,
- 20:56Speaker 2: it's pretty easy to influence because it's just one pitch.
- 21:00Speaker 2: How much does it affect their performance? Not necessarily a lot.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Here's my question, though, second layer, because yes, I am
- 21:07Speaker 2: definitely somewhat biased on this. I like to bet I
- 21:10Speaker 2: think regulation has helped catch people. On the other side, here,
- 21:13Speaker 2: is this enough if you're truly trying to limit this
- 21:16Speaker 2: scenario because you can still bet on at bats. There
- 21:19Speaker 2: are a lot of other micro bets that you can
- 21:21Speaker 2: do crats and if I'm Class A and I'm like, okay,
- 21:25Speaker 2: it's going to be difficult to make a lot of
- 21:26Speaker 2: money on the v lo or the ball strike, there
- 21:29Speaker 2: are still a number of other props that he could
- 21:31Speaker 2: do and figure out, right, Like, I'm pretty sure. I mean,
- 21:35Speaker 2: you could bet on a walk, so instead of one
- 21:38Speaker 2: pitch off, he could walk one dude, and same thing
- 21:41Speaker 2: can happen.
- 21:42Speaker 1: So is this enough?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Where do we have to put some limits on more
- 21:46Speaker 2: things that involve individuals? Baseball gets tricky with that because
- 21:50Speaker 2: you can't impact the game individually and it doesn't.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Necessarily lead to a guarantee that it's going to impact
- 21:57Speaker 1: the result. Am I making sense there? Like? Are you
- 21:59Speaker 1: catching some one?
- 22:00Speaker 2: Or is Class A going to say, hey, I'm doing this,
- 22:03Speaker 2: I'm making five to seven grand whatever to try and
- 22:06Speaker 2: pull this off even though I'm a millionaire.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'll just go to a different prop.
- 22:11Speaker 3: No, I don't think, I mean, I think it all lies.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I don't know if changing the amount per like prop
- 22:18Speaker 3: or whatever it is, because if you're if you're changing
- 22:21Speaker 3: the prop, then it's like, Okay, then I have to
- 22:23Speaker 3: change other props to me. They have to nail this suspension.
- 22:28Speaker 3: They have to nail this punishment, make an example out
- 22:32Speaker 3: of them. Maybe some people say it's unfair if he's
- 22:35Speaker 3: found guilty, which we're thinking possibly that's the case. They
- 22:41Speaker 3: got to nail. They have to nail them. They can't.
- 22:43Speaker 3: They can't say, well, you know the new landscape with gambling,
- 22:47Speaker 3: it's our partnerships. No, you have to squash this right
- 22:52Speaker 3: where it starts, because just like you guys were alluding to,
- 22:56Speaker 3: this wasn't the only case. This is a case of
- 22:59Speaker 3: hey found it because of the great regulations that we have. Yeah, right,
- 23:06Speaker 3: you know, as we talk about this so christ people
- 23:09Speaker 3: ask me this all the time. How and I try
- 23:12Speaker 3: to give an honest answer. And I've never been approached
- 23:14Speaker 3: about this, and I've never, thank god ever had to
- 23:17Speaker 3: think about this. But people say, how easy would it
- 23:20Speaker 3: be for you as a catcher to influence a game?
- 23:23Speaker 3: Change the not. I don't know if I could change
- 23:24Speaker 3: the outcome of a game, but on these micro bets,
- 23:28Speaker 3: I could definitely influence some things because you could call
- 23:32Speaker 3: for a pitch, call for pitches like if it's an
- 23:35Speaker 3: over under and it's close. Oh there's a guy on
- 23:37Speaker 3: third with two outs. Oh, pass ball or ball in
- 23:39Speaker 3: the dirt. I don't really give my a effort gets by.
- 23:42Speaker 3: There's a lot of things that you could do and
- 23:45Speaker 3: I never thought of. I've never really had to, Thank god.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I never would ever want to do that, like ever,
- 23:51Speaker 3: Like that would be the last thing because I'm way
- 23:53Speaker 3: too competitive and i would never do that. Plus it's
- 23:55Speaker 3: just not the right thing to do. But literally, but
- 23:59Speaker 3: but do you see what saying like as a catcher crotch,
- 24:01Speaker 3: think about like you get to a three to two
- 24:03Speaker 3: count and you're like, oh, which is what? Oh, this
- 24:05Speaker 3: guy can't throw this pitch for a strike. Let's call
- 24:08Speaker 3: that pitch and he walks a guy and they have
- 24:10Speaker 3: a there's a walk propt better. But this is my point,
- 24:13Speaker 3: there's there's there is a catch the one position. A
- 24:15Speaker 3: pitcher obviously could do these, but as a catcher, you
- 24:18Speaker 3: could definitely influence some things if you if you were
- 24:23Speaker 3: if you got if you were dumb enough to do.
- 24:25Speaker 2: This, does this limit the temptation at all? The answer
- 24:28Speaker 2: has to be yes, it should limit it at least
- 24:30Speaker 2: a little bit. It's a little bit more difficult for
- 24:32Speaker 2: somebody to make. You got to make it harder, like
- 24:34Speaker 2: for class A, even if he was like, you know what,
- 24:36Speaker 2: the only thing I can really handle is the ball
- 24:38Speaker 2: striker the VLO And you can still bet on that
- 24:40Speaker 2: they're knocking two hundred dollars bets. You're gonna have to
- 24:43Speaker 2: get a lot of people together to make serious money
- 24:45Speaker 2: to you know, quote make it worth his time. The
- 24:47Speaker 2: answer from others is, well, he wasn't making that much anyway, right,
- 24:51Speaker 2: But you still need a lot of people to get
- 24:52Speaker 2: together on a bet, right, I mean, you need a
- 24:54Speaker 2: lot of bets to be placed in a lot of books.
- 24:55Speaker 3: But then it would also open eyes when all of
- 24:57Speaker 3: a sudden like that's kind of what happened, is there
- 25:00Speaker 3: was all this money been on one pitch.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Here's the thing. They catch that stuff in five seconds. Now.
- 25:06Speaker 2: The reason it doesn't come out quickly is there's investigations.
- 25:09Speaker 2: The investigations are what take forever. They catch that.
- 25:13Speaker 3: In minutes and Andy pyees maybe I mean Andy Pyes,
- 25:18Speaker 3: he swung it to one in the dirt that was
- 25:20Speaker 3: three foot outside.
- 25:21Speaker 1: No, it was down, it wasn't outside, it was it
- 25:23Speaker 1: wasn't very close. Yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 2: But anyway, the point is does this help yes? Is
- 25:30Speaker 2: it enough for me?
- 25:32Speaker 1: No?
- 25:32Speaker 2: I would do some other limitations prop wise. I think
- 25:35Speaker 2: there are a few other things that you could look
- 25:37Speaker 2: at and say, hey, it would also help if we
- 25:41Speaker 2: limit some apat results.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you need to put limits on it.
- 25:45Speaker 3: And by the way, I'm not I don't want to
- 25:46Speaker 3: make this good. I'm not saying any pies to anything.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It was just example they use.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but that was the example they used it that
- 25:53Speaker 3: was supposed to be a pitch that was a ball,
- 25:54Speaker 3: and sometimes you guys swing at them.
- 25:55Speaker 2: My point is yes, So if you want much more,
- 25:58Speaker 2: this is good point. Much more difficult for somebody to
- 26:01Speaker 2: implant a game decision or a over under right, Like
- 26:05Speaker 2: they can do it within the game, But if we're heading.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Micro bets are easier to manipulate, way easier to Like
- 26:11Speaker 3: if I'm a hitter and I'd tell hey, my first,
- 26:13Speaker 3: my first, my second at bat, I'm gonna swing at
- 26:15Speaker 3: the first pitch, no matter where it is, it will
- 26:17Speaker 3: be a strike. I could go up there and swing
- 26:19Speaker 3: and miss and it's seven feet outside. Those are limited now,
- 26:23Speaker 3: but it should be because that makes it tougher.
- 26:25Speaker 2: But if there's a hitter who wants to strike out
- 26:28Speaker 2: in this first step at it's usually pretty easy.
- 26:30Speaker 1: For them to do that.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yeah, right, I mean someone's got to be really off
- 26:34Speaker 2: with their control.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Or you can strike out.
- 26:36Speaker 3: You can still swing though, I mean, let's say throw
- 26:38Speaker 3: it right at you. You can still swing.
- 26:40Speaker 2: But that's the point is should strikeouts be looked at?
- 26:43Speaker 3: And you're getting too deep? A red?
- 26:45Speaker 1: Why am I getting too deep?
- 26:46Speaker 3: I think you have to start limiting everything. No, I
- 26:50Speaker 3: don't know.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I don't think you have.
- 26:51Speaker 2: To limit everything. I'm just saying, are two categories enough?
- 26:56Speaker 2: Or should it be more like five or six? Why
- 27:01Speaker 2: is that so off?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Most?
- 27:03Speaker 3: I mean you can just keep going and then because
- 27:05Speaker 3: everything you say, they can someone can know.
- 27:07Speaker 2: But if you keep going it, like you said, it's
- 27:09Speaker 2: much more difficult to influence that.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Right, like it. Somebody can always listen. Somebody can always
- 27:14Speaker 3: figure out a way to influence something if they're if
- 27:17Speaker 3: they're that far outside the box and that troubled and
- 27:19Speaker 3: that in need of stuff.
- 27:22Speaker 1: My point is with class A, I argy just everyone energy.
- 27:28Speaker 1: If what is.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Said is true, he probably looked at it crats like
- 27:33Speaker 2: pitch here and there over a ton of pitches over
- 27:35Speaker 2: a course of a whole season, no big deal and
- 27:39Speaker 2: pretty difficult to catch me on that one damn pitch
- 27:42Speaker 2: they did. No, you don't think I've got anything here
- 27:45Speaker 2: where it's like, hey, should we push it a little
- 27:48Speaker 2: more to a few other props That that to me.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I'm bringing this up because also when I.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Look at the stuff, I look at the consensus from
- 27:54Speaker 2: fans and they're like, Eah, there's a few others I
- 27:56Speaker 2: can bring up that I think would help to maybe
- 27:59Speaker 2: steer tempt hait percentage down, or you could be on
- 28:03Speaker 2: the other side, you're like, you know what, if you're
- 28:05Speaker 2: that guy, you're gonna be that guy and you're gonna
- 28:07Speaker 2: figure out a way, So it doesn't really matter if
- 28:09Speaker 2: you limit the dollars.
- 28:13Speaker 3: He got caught too. Like, I think that's the I
- 28:15Speaker 3: think that's more limiting than any like amounts. That's more limiting, Like.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Oh, setting the example and catching someone.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yes, that that is the biggest in my opinion. I mean,
- 28:29Speaker 3: when it was going through college basketball, they those guys
- 28:33Speaker 3: got those guys got theirs like they done. Career is over, no,
- 28:39Speaker 3: never a second chance. That's what they have to do.
- 28:41Speaker 3: They have to do that here again with class and
- 28:45Speaker 3: ortis well.
- 28:48Speaker 2: If the allegations are proven true to any extent, they're
- 28:51Speaker 2: never going to play baseball again, and they might face
- 28:54Speaker 2: jail time.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I would say those are pretty severe consequences. How much
- 28:59Speaker 1: work can you?
- 29:00Speaker 3: Yeah, didn't work for Pete Rose. He Rose did it,
- 29:03Speaker 3: he got banned for life. He's back though, Yeah, but
- 29:07Speaker 3: and definitely banned. It tells they want to they don't
- 29:09Speaker 3: want to deal with it anymore. So they want to
- 29:13Speaker 3: look like the good guy. That's why I said it.
- 29:15Speaker 3: That's why I said it. Don't don't try to be
- 29:17Speaker 3: the good guy. Don't try to be the like, oh, well,
- 29:21Speaker 3: you know what. I think he served his time. I
- 29:23Speaker 3: think like this is a major integrity. Honesty is huge
- 29:30Speaker 3: in our sport. If they don't, if they don't punish
- 29:34Speaker 3: guilty people, We're not assuming they're guilty yet, but if
- 29:37Speaker 3: they are seen found guilty, if they do not punish them,
- 29:41Speaker 3: from a Major League Baseball standpoint, then it's not gonna
- 29:45Speaker 3: It doesn't matter what you put the limits to, it
- 29:47Speaker 3: doesn't matter where it's at. There's gonna be people that
- 29:49Speaker 3: are like, eh, you know what, I'm willing to take
- 29:51Speaker 3: the chance. I'm not saying the majority. I'm saying they're
- 29:54Speaker 3: still those minorities. But you can never have integrity of
- 29:57Speaker 3: the game in question. In my opinion, it's like saying,
- 30:00Speaker 3: like if there was like owners that owned the team
- 30:03Speaker 3: that didn't try to put a winning team out there,
- 30:05Speaker 3: you could never have that.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Way we do way we do, or another sport where
- 30:10Speaker 2: you allegedly pay someone to avoid the salary cap. That
- 30:17Speaker 2: story is insane. Anyway, it's a good topic, you know.
- 30:21Speaker 2: They they felt like they made a lot of progress.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Oh Man for it, announced like he felt like that
- 30:26Speaker 2: was a good thing. It's something The question of the
- 30:30Speaker 2: of the day here was was it enough? Is that
- 30:32Speaker 2: enough to steer anything? There's no way to really know.
- 30:36Speaker 1: So that's all I got.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Manager of the Year. I think it's a highly debated
- 30:44Speaker 2: topic on what constitutes manager of the year when it
- 30:48Speaker 2: comes to awards. How do you look at this? I mean, guess,
- 30:52Speaker 2: give me your pick out of the three. We're gonna
- 30:54Speaker 2: pick from the finalists on who you think will win
- 30:57Speaker 2: and who should win. And we can start with nationally,
- 31:00Speaker 2: Terry Francona versus Pat Murphy versus Rob Thompson.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Terry Francona. Why because the Reds weren't expected to be
- 31:08Speaker 3: any good and they made the playoffs.
- 31:12Speaker 1: So that's your math.
- 31:14Speaker 3: That's I'm just thinking how most voter Rob Thompson. They're
- 31:16Speaker 3: gonna say, oh, they have this high pay roll. He
- 31:19Speaker 3: you know, they had a great record. Pat Murphy won
- 31:21Speaker 3: it last year, so they're gonna say, oh, I voted
- 31:23Speaker 3: for him last year. I don't want to do it again.
- 31:26Speaker 3: That's why I think it'll be Tito. Hope it is
- 31:28Speaker 3: because then we can finally get Tito on the show.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Right, So they're gonna say, krat we don't want the
- 31:32Speaker 2: same jokes from Pat Murphy at the awards event in January.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Who do you think will win? Who would you pick
- 31:42Speaker 1: to win?
- 31:43Speaker 3: Pat Murphy and Pat Murphy. I think they want to
- 31:47Speaker 3: get it right. I don't think it's one of those
- 31:49Speaker 3: awards where they're like, eh, you know what, let's spread
- 31:52Speaker 3: it around. I think it's hard to win, but I
- 31:55Speaker 3: also think it's hard to go from like where your
- 31:58Speaker 3: team was projected to where the Brewers ended up. And
- 32:02Speaker 3: I think that's really the discrepancy. I think Pat even
- 32:04Speaker 3: said it last year when we talked to them, like
- 32:07Speaker 3: It's like all the Manager of the Year award means
- 32:10Speaker 3: is that you your team did really good and everybody
- 32:14Speaker 3: thought you stunk. Beforehand, everybody thought the Brewers would be
- 32:18Speaker 3: kind of a five hundred team, and they were projected
- 32:19Speaker 3: to win eighty one or eighty games something like that,
- 32:22Speaker 3: which is the highest they'd ever been projected, and then
- 32:25Speaker 3: they went out and won the most games in all
- 32:28Speaker 3: the big leagues. So I think it's I think it's
- 32:31Speaker 3: Pat Murphy, and I think I think it's well deserved.
- 32:34Speaker 3: I don't think I don't think there's there's no shade
- 32:36Speaker 3: coming from me on this one.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I think writers look at it most and say predictions, projections,
- 32:45Speaker 2: who exceeded them and how, And I think there are
- 32:48Speaker 2: quite a few writers and sports media members who didn't
- 32:53Speaker 2: have the Brewers making the playoffs.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Well also, yeah, they also didn't have the Reds, And
- 32:57Speaker 3: think about I don't think Tito's ever won Has he
- 32:59Speaker 3: ever won Manager Year?
- 33:01Speaker 1: I think he probably has, but I can look at it, I.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Don't think he has, so I think also there's also
- 33:04Speaker 3: a little point of where I don't think he has
- 33:09Speaker 3: because he's always had good teams that were expected to win.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I really think he's every one, the Guardians, the Indians.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Never mind, he's won three times.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I think he's got But what's the.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Thirteen, sixteen, twenty two, there you go, and twenty five.
- 33:24Speaker 3: So he's going to be a four time now I
- 33:27Speaker 3: can still come on, you can still come on. Now
- 33:29Speaker 3: he has an open invite. He just you know.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I think the expectations for the Reds were pretty close
- 33:34Speaker 2: to the expectations for the Brewers, whether they should have
- 33:37Speaker 2: been or not.
- 33:38Speaker 3: But I just think people are going to look at
- 33:40Speaker 3: it and say that the Brewers kind of were, you know,
- 33:42Speaker 3: they didn't get up to they want to. They obviously
- 33:44Speaker 3: didn't get on to a great start, but they once
- 33:46Speaker 3: may hit, they just kind of kept going. The Reds
- 33:48Speaker 3: were kind of like and then all of a sudden
- 33:50Speaker 3: at the end they took off. And they're going to say, oh,
- 33:52Speaker 3: this was the manager. And again, it shouldn't be the
- 33:55Speaker 3: way when we get into the MVP discussion where it's
- 33:58Speaker 3: going to be the same thing. There is little bit
- 34:00Speaker 3: of fatigue about voting for the same guy two years
- 34:02Speaker 3: in a row. I get that, and we get to
- 34:03Speaker 3: the American League, it's going to be the same thing.
- 34:05Speaker 1: But did the Reds make it, or.
- 34:08Speaker 3: The Reds made it? Did the Reds made the playoffs?
- 34:11Speaker 1: I know, but the Reds made the playoffs, they didn't
- 34:13Speaker 1: go on?
- 34:14Speaker 3: Or did the Mets loose? Yeah, the Red's made the playoffs.
- 34:17Speaker 3: That's all I know. I prefer to look at it
- 34:20Speaker 3: from a positive standpoint. You guys are trying to bring
- 34:22Speaker 3: me down with the negative.
- 34:22Speaker 2: You're a glass that full, guy, We're not the American
- 34:25Speaker 2: League Manager of the year. Who do you think will win?
- 34:28Speaker 2: And who should win? John Schneider versus Steven Vote versus
- 34:30Speaker 2: Dan Wilson. That's a good competition, right.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Dan Wilson's out on this one. For me? Why just
- 34:36Speaker 3: because they've been close, they've been in the playoffs. John
- 34:38Speaker 3: Schneider is gonna win, He should win.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Wait, but why are you writing off Dan Wilson.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I just don't think he's the people don't know enough
- 34:46Speaker 3: about him. I just think he's, you know, the next catcher.
- 34:48Speaker 3: They don't get enough love. I wait, these guys are
- 34:50Speaker 3: all catchers.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Never mind they all won the division, I know, I know. Wait,
- 34:55Speaker 1: the Mariners never make the playoffs, I mean very rarely, right.
- 34:59Speaker 3: I just think I just think people are gonna look
- 35:00Speaker 3: at it and say John Schneider in the American League East,
- 35:03Speaker 3: there is a little bias there. They were they were
- 35:06Speaker 3: talking about it being fired before the year. He was
- 35:08Speaker 3: on the hot seat and the postseason doesn't matter. It's
- 35:10Speaker 3: to vote it before. But they won the East. They
- 35:13Speaker 3: beat the Yankees, they beat the Red Sox, and John Schneider,
- 35:16Speaker 3: after all that he's taking, is gonna gonna win.
- 35:18Speaker 1: For the record, I agree with you. I think Schnyder wins.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Us there's gonna be a little fatigue. We voted for
- 35:23Speaker 3: steam Boat last year.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Right, and.
- 35:26Speaker 2: The Guardians had a great run towards the end of
- 35:29Speaker 2: the year, but the Tigers also were.
- 35:31Speaker 3: So did the Tigers lose it or did the Guardians
- 35:34Speaker 3: win it? Well for me, but right back at.
- 35:36Speaker 2: You, the Tigers lost it and the Mets lost it,
- 35:40Speaker 2: and I think there's so then so.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Then he shouldn't get votes either. He just made my margament
- 35:45Speaker 3: for me. Thank you.
- 35:45Speaker 1: But I said, I agreed with you.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I know the crats is gonna say Vote's gonna win.
- 35:50Speaker 1: No, I think he's gonna say Schneider Kratz.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I think I think Schnyder's gonna win. But I think
- 35:55Speaker 3: Dan Wilson should be ahead of I know they don't
- 35:57Speaker 3: get out, you know what the voting was, but I
- 36:00Speaker 3: think I think Dan Wilson should be ahead. The fact
- 36:03Speaker 3: that the Mariners for years have just historically collapsed at
- 36:08Speaker 3: the end of the year, travel concerns, didn't trade for somebody,
- 36:11Speaker 3: whatever it is, that's what they do, that's what they've done.
- 36:15Speaker 3: And when they went in to Houston and swept the Astros,
- 36:20Speaker 3: I think Dan Wilson should deserve a lot of credit
- 36:22Speaker 3: for that. Did he have the MVP. Absolutely, Did he
- 36:26Speaker 3: get two big trade pieces at the trade deadline? Absolutely,
- 36:29Speaker 3: But he did something in a place where you know,
- 36:32Speaker 3: it hasn't been done before. So I think Dan Wilson
- 36:35Speaker 3: should be higher up there. But I think Schneid should
- 36:37Speaker 3: win it. I mean, one, I'm biased, he's my roommate. Two,
- 36:41Speaker 3: they had the second best record in all of baseball.
- 36:44Speaker 3: They did it in the American League East, and nobody
- 36:48Speaker 3: while people had picked them the last two years, they
- 36:51Speaker 3: had given up on picking them this year because they
- 36:54Speaker 3: finished last in the AL East last year and you
- 36:57Speaker 3: know see how close they got ye.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Last to first winning the East. I'm with you, Schneider.
- 37:06Speaker 2: That's a good one. Yeah, they all had really strong
- 37:09Speaker 2: cases in the American League for what they did.
- 37:13Speaker 3: I just I just don't think Dan Wilson will get
- 37:14Speaker 3: the love.
- 37:16Speaker 2: There's some good chatter going on in the chat, some
- 37:20Speaker 2: people not loving Dan Wilson, but I think that is
- 37:23Speaker 2: probably the postseason that doesn't count. You're still had to
- 37:27Speaker 2: talk about it, but that doesn't count.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Huh. Listen, Dan Wilson had a great year. But I
- 37:36Speaker 3: also think they went in so the way I think
- 37:38Speaker 3: the voters look at manager of the years who went
- 37:40Speaker 3: into the season with the least amount of expectations and
- 37:42Speaker 3: who exceeded those expectations. The Marriers went into the year
- 37:46Speaker 3: and there were a lot of people are like, hey,
- 37:47Speaker 3: they're going to be pretty good. They should win eighty
- 37:49Speaker 3: they should win fifty four percent of their games. I
- 37:51Speaker 3: know that's what's kind of gone away now, but they
- 37:53Speaker 3: should win eighty five to ninety games. They won one
- 37:56Speaker 3: ninety games or whatever it was. And then whereas the
- 37:59Speaker 3: Guardian and the Blue Jays, the Guardians like, well, we
- 38:03Speaker 3: sold our whole team away. We don't have anybody. We
- 38:05Speaker 3: have no more Naylor. You know, da da da da dah.
- 38:07Speaker 3: So they're not really expected to win. They still win
- 38:09Speaker 3: the division. And then the Blue Jays finished last last
- 38:12Speaker 3: year in the East. I was supposed to be loaded,
- 38:13Speaker 3: and they won the division. So that's why as good
- 38:17Speaker 3: of a job as Dan Wilson did, I just think
- 38:18Speaker 3: the other two And it's that's why I think Tito too,
- 38:20Speaker 3: Because I think Tito. I think they're over under was
- 38:24Speaker 3: like seventy eight.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Or something going into the season, right.
- 38:26Speaker 3: So they exceeded those expectations. And the way the year ended,
- 38:30Speaker 3: people are going to say that was all Tito, because
- 38:32Speaker 3: Tito did this right people throughout the oh Tito September
- 38:36Speaker 3: stat or whatever. Yeah, exactly. So that's why I think
- 38:39Speaker 3: that that's why those two will win. Plus, they don't
- 38:42Speaker 3: want to see Pat's tired act again. They don't want
- 38:44Speaker 3: to see votes tired acting Manny tired acta.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I always like that.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Dan Wilson's bens coach as much as as much as listen,
- 38:54Speaker 3: we love Voter and we love Murph.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Don't underrate how much people love Murphy. Your great SoundBite,
- 39:04Speaker 2: he's entertaining as hell. That doesn't hurt you know, and hey,
- 39:09Speaker 2: in seriousness, if you're trying to be really serious with this.
- 39:12Speaker 1: His style is pretty different.
- 39:15Speaker 2: He'll be like, yeah, this guy, He'll essentially say it, yeah,
- 39:17Speaker 2: this guy sucked, bentioning him for a couple of days.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Nobody does that anymore. That is a different style, and
- 39:22Speaker 2: clearly it worked in the regular season for the Brewers, right,
- 39:25Speaker 2: who else does that? I mean to use an example
- 39:28Speaker 2: like Aaron Boone will fight to the death in my
- 39:31Speaker 2: mind too much to be like, oh, you know he's
- 39:34Speaker 2: going through this that, or like come up with excuses
- 39:36Speaker 2: and Murphy's just like, yeah, he sucks. I told him
- 39:39Speaker 2: he sucks, and I call him some other name, you like,
- 39:42Speaker 2: makes a joke out of it, serious and kind of kidding.
- 39:44Speaker 2: And then he's like, so I bentioned for has.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Short legs and we got arrested.
- 39:48Speaker 4: We keep running around, remember that one.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Let's slap. First off, a new Monster Territory.
- 40:09Speaker 2: A Red Sox show is out there with Robbie Hyde
- 40:11Speaker 2: interviewing special guest Sam Kennedy, the president of the Boston
- 40:16Speaker 2: Red Sox. Great interview, very much worth a watch and
- 40:19Speaker 2: a listen. Maybe tomorrow we'll take a clip from that
- 40:22Speaker 2: show and have you guys break it down again. That's
- 40:26Speaker 2: Robbie Hyde with Sam Kennedy, President of the Boston Red
- 40:30Speaker 2: Sox for a deep dive combo.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Check it out. Next up, Kratz hats.
- 40:35Speaker 3: What do you got? COPA Diversity owned series for the
- 40:40Speaker 3: Scranton rail Riders. I really like it. I really like it.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I'm not even actually sure what the character is, but
- 40:45Speaker 3: i know it's the COPA Diversity owned series.
- 40:50Speaker 1: I really like it too.
- 40:51Speaker 2: And lastly, but most importantly, actually on our way out
- 40:57Speaker 2: today is veteran today, so we would like to honored
- 41:02Speaker 2: those that served. And here's a tweet from the Reds
- 41:05Speaker 2: and many other teams obviously putting things out on socials.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Thank you to all the courageous individuals who have served
- 41:11Speaker 2: our country.
- 41:13Speaker 3: So yesterday it comes to the golf tournament Folds of honor.
- 41:16Speaker 3: How was that big veterans in one your anniversary me
- 41:18Speaker 3: jumping out of a plane. So I was, it was great.
- 41:20Speaker 3: It was awesome. Listen, they do a great job. You
- 41:23Speaker 3: check my instagram. There's a great the service they did.
- 41:26Speaker 3: In before they play taps and they play all the
- 41:28Speaker 3: military songs, they do a twenty one gun salute, they
- 41:30Speaker 3: sing the anthem, it's moving, and then you have the veterans,
- 41:34Speaker 3: a lot of disabled veterans come and play golf with you.
- 41:36Speaker 3: So it's it's it's special. It's special. So thank you
- 41:38Speaker 3: for everyone that has served and people that are continuous serve.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we're always thinking about people like that, but today
- 41:48Speaker 2: extra extra attention. You're on Veterans Day, So if you're watching,
- 41:52Speaker 2: or some people are off from school or work or whatever,
- 41:55Speaker 2: we're here. We're hustling, but we're thinking about the bets.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I think MLB does a really nice job, by the way.
- 42:03Speaker 2: I mean we don't have Veterans Day during the season,
- 42:05Speaker 2: but Memorial Day, really anything related to service and the military.
- 42:11Speaker 2: MLB does a really nice job during the season too. Hey,
- 42:15Speaker 2: I can be as critical as anyone out there, but
- 42:17Speaker 2: they crush it on that front.
- 42:19Speaker 1: So thanks everyone. Good show.
- 42:22Speaker 2: We have Brit TROLLI hosting tomorrow.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I'm back on Thursday.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Tricia Whitaker stopping by for a little hosting on Friday.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Switching it up, and I think, Krats.
- 42:35Speaker 2: You've got somebody Friday that's not Todd Father because I
- 42:39Speaker 2: think he's still away.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Kizzle Drizzle.
- 42:43Speaker 1: It is k Pizzle Drizzle. Tricia Kratz and Pollar on Friday.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Nice
