- 0:14Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:16I'm Luke and this is Amber. Hello.
- 0:20Together we're the Lord and Lady who lock horns.
- 0:22The counting Countess of contention.
- 0:24The Duke and Duchess of Disagreement.
- 0:27And the King and Queen of quarrels.
- 0:29In this podcast, we will argue about all things big and small.
- 0:33We will use the very scientific method of letting the audience
- 0:37vote determine who the winner is.
- 0:39Many of our topics are frequently submitted by our
- 0:42listeners, which we actually want and need, so if you have
- 0:45something you want us to battle about, please share it with us
- 0:48at arguingeverafter@gmail.com. All right, here we are, Episode
- 0:5430. 30 dirty 30 but but not dirty just 30 but it rhymes
- 1:01shirty 30 it. Could be dirty 30.
- 1:05We don't. Flirty, 30.
- 1:06Started. We flirt every once in a while.
- 1:08Sometimes, but we have we're just starting, so who knows, Who
- 1:12knows where the podcast will go when we record.
- 1:16We essentially just have a basic topic as you all know, and then
- 1:21who knows where it leads us to? I'll tell you what, on the last
- 1:25episode we talked about dogs the entire time and then asked a
- 1:28totally different question. We did.
- 1:30It might be. The first time our viewers and
- 1:32listeners are like, wait, what? Right.
- 1:37Why not though? Keep them guessing, you know, We
- 1:39got to keep it fresh all. Right, keeping it interesting.
- 1:41Especially when you're this far into podcasting.
- 1:43We're like seasoned professionals, practically.
- 1:46I mean, if we were doing the Speaking of seasoned, if we were
- 1:49doing the thing where we had seasons, we could for sure have
- 1:51at least two, maybe 3 by now. Well, technically we could.
- 1:55We we're creating it all, remember?
- 1:58Yeah, but the math, you see, I don't understand where you would
- 2:01where, where do you break it? I don't know, I feel like things
- 2:05like Survivor or whatever where they're at 75,000,000 seasons,
- 2:09they're breaking it at 8 weeks. Maybe.
- 2:12So based on like big commercial things have 8 episodes.
- 2:20I mean, we're. Oh yeah, you're right, you're
- 2:22right. Look it up.
- 2:25Yeah, yeah, Season 4. Maybe we could break it
- 2:28seasonally since we have seasons that are obvious here.
- 2:34Then we would be in our third season.
- 2:36Summer, Fall. Winter.
- 2:38Yes. Winter is a long season.
- 2:41It is the longest season. Oh, Oh my, I'm so over the cold.
- 2:48Yeah, every year it doesn't take a lot to be done with winter.
- 2:51It's usually mid January and just like ready to have it be
- 2:56over. I'm I'm done with winter,
- 2:59November 1st every year. Just math based situation there.
- 3:05It never started. Now you're getting it.
- 3:08Now you're getting it. I'm ready when we're older to
- 3:11just move somewhere where there isn't cold.
- 3:15Right. Where it's like everyone freaks
- 3:17out when it's 50 and they break out their long underpants and I
- 3:20could just laugh at them and. And everything's cancelled when
- 3:23it's, you know, a Fleck of snow. Which happened recently.
- 3:26So we had our super deep cold snap, which we get most every
- 3:30year where it's like stupid and it's we had closing of schools
- 3:36because it was too cold for kids to wait at the bus stop.
- 3:38That's how cold it gets here. Right, but other people do that
- 3:41and too cold is like 40. OK.
- 3:44Well, US, it's below 40 minus. 40 I think it is -40. -40 And
- 3:50then they're like, OK, now it's cold enough.
- 3:53Now our Minnesota hearty children.
- 3:56Snow. It's like if you get over a foot
- 3:58of snow. Yeah.
- 4:00Then they're well, No, we've had 12 inches of snow where they've
- 4:03gone to school. It depends on how quick the
- 4:07plows can get out there. I feel like a guarantee would be
- 4:10like 18 inches of snow. Like for sure you're getting
- 4:13school off. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:15But I don't know, maybe not. It happened a lot more, I think
- 4:20when we were younger. But I hear that we have less
- 4:21snow and it seems that way, but I don't know.
- 4:25I think everybody talks about that though, like every
- 4:27generation. So either everyone thinks they
- 4:29had it worse or it's actually becoming less and less per year,
- 4:35which is potentially the case. You know, I could ask.
- 4:38I yeah, I was. Going to say my scientifically
- 4:42certified meteorologist's. Cousin whose wife listens to our
- 4:46podcast all the time. Hello.
- 4:50I'm ready to find out if Minnesota actually gets less.
- 4:53Snow, you should ask him and I feel like he was really
- 4:55interested in our weather patterns years ago, so he's
- 4:58probably. Figured out some doozies.
- 5:00Well anyways, I was getting to in our last cold snap I got Oh.
- 5:03That's right. Sidetrack, the rest of the
- 5:06country also got super jacked except, well, I guess it was
- 5:09also similarly cold for them 'cause like, you know, the, the
- 5:17cold states where they get down to 40 might have got down to 10
- 5:20or something and they got a bunch of snow and ice.
- 5:23There's like ice storms and there's crazy pictures of like
- 5:27trees, like just falling over in the middle of all kind of
- 5:31streets and like the highway is all getting shut down and the
- 5:36whole city's closed for a couple of days 'cause they don't have
- 5:39anything like a salt truck. It makes more sense to me, like,
- 5:43especially on like ocean areas, we're so far away.
- 5:47We don't get that, you know, that constant wet air that would
- 5:50just turn everything into freezing.
- 5:53Like watching some of those East Coast folks and and how bad it
- 5:59can happen for them when when they get that big weather
- 6:02because the air is just more wet.
- 6:04It's. Always.
- 6:05What's the Buffalo NY is like the worst snow because they get
- 6:08that lake effect thing. I was thinking more on the ice
- 6:11and I feel like that's like New Jersey or Philadelphia.
- 6:15I don't know. Boston.
- 6:16Boston near Boston. Yeah, Yep, Yep.
- 6:20There was that one movie about it and I can't remember what it
- 6:23was, but a. Movie about it.
- 6:26Maybe not. I think I'm thinking of a whole
- 6:28nother movie where there was like a boat and it was Boston
- 6:32and was it white squaw? That was a movie.
- 6:36Was that a boat movie? There was a boat in.
- 6:38Boston. I don't know if it was Boston,
- 6:41but sure there was a boat. Ben Affleck in it the boat.
- 6:46Got a lot of movies if it. Was a fishing.
- 6:49It was a fishing boat, maybe. I don't know.
- 6:53I don't know, but it was based on a true story.
- 6:55There was maybe that, I don't know if that was White Squaw,
- 6:58but I feel like I might be remembering the movie you're
- 7:01talking about, and I don't think it was that one.
- 7:05What? It also might have been George
- 7:06Clooney. OK, yeah, what's great is there
- 7:09is a listener right now who's like losing their mind.
- 7:12For sure. Also, Ben Affleck is from Boston
- 7:17I think, if I remember that correctly.
- 7:19So I think you could be right. If not, him and his friend Matt
- 7:22Damon make movies about Boston all the time.
- 7:25I think they're from Boston. I could be wrong, I don't know.
- 7:29I've I've never really done that much of A research into either
- 7:32one of them, but I just love it cuz when I listen to things or
- 7:36I'm watching something on TV and they're like not answering
- 7:40correctly, I just get so like, you know, shouting at the TV or
- 7:45you. Know we have like a a trivia
- 7:47question like I'll take movies with winter storms for 1000.
- 7:55You would fail that category. Yeah, I'm trying to think of a
- 7:59movie with a winter storm. Oh yeah, I got it.
- 8:02Krampus. Fargo That's what I was going to
- 8:06say, but only because. I haven't seen it.
- 8:09I feel, well, I feel like there was 1.
- 8:11I'll trust you. But there might not have been
- 8:13one, because it was. I refuse.
- 8:15Fargo. I refuse to watch that movie.
- 8:18Their accents were so terrible. They were.
- 8:21And today I was reading this thing because you know,
- 8:24Minnesota's everywhere right now.
- 8:25Like we are the hot topic, which of course, because those who
- 8:28knew no, right, like Minnesota has always been the hot topic.
- 8:33Wow. But currently a lot right now.
- 8:37But anyhow, they were talking about, there was just this
- 8:39thread I was reading and it was talking about something, you
- 8:43know, there's either real Minnesotans who know how to say
- 8:47the word bag. Bag.
- 8:49Or people who want to be Minnesotans.
- 8:51Yeah. And so then.
- 8:53With AY in it BA. Y GB EYG so then.
- 8:58Oh BEYG big. Big.
- 9:01So then I like actually googled how to pronounce the word big
- 9:06and, and I was 'cause I was like, how do we say it wrong?
- 9:10Every time I hear it, it sounds right no matter who says it.
- 9:12Like if I'm listening to someone on TV and they're like, oh, hand
- 9:15me a big, like, I hear it right And it sounds the same no matter
- 9:21who says it. And so I was listening to it was
- 9:23like. Don't I say beg?
- 9:25So then I was listening to this like people who are teaching
- 9:29people how to say English and say words in English, and they
- 9:33had beg and beg and like how to pronounce them and what the
- 9:39differences were. And every time I heard it, it
- 9:41sounded right. But then when I went to look it
- 9:43up, it's like you should say beg like you say back.
- 9:47So it would be bag. And I was like, that hurts to
- 9:51say. That's not right, Yeah.
- 9:53It's not. But you said bag.
- 9:57Yeah, like, say it like you say. Bag.
- 10:01Say it like you say back. Bag.
- 10:04No, you're saying big. Bag.
- 10:08Like back so be bag bag. Did I do it?
- 10:13I don't think so. Oh no, it feels.
- 10:15Wrong, doesn't it? For I kept.
- 10:17Trying. I feel like I did it right I
- 10:19guess. I kept trying and it hurt my my
- 10:21jaw and things like this is it's just not physically bad.
- 10:27Did I get? It I don't, no, no.
- 10:28And it's supposed to be. We say it long and it's supposed
- 10:31to be. No, I want to know who says it,
- 10:33right? Bag bug?
- 10:35I don't know. And when I say like it, say it
- 10:38like back. But don't I say bagel?
- 10:41Oh, I say bagel. Yeah, we said.
- 10:43Is it bagel? It is a bagel.
- 10:45It is a bagel. It is a bagel.
- 10:47I thought it was a bagel and everyone else was wrong and they
- 10:50said bagel and I say bagel. Uh huh.
- 10:55Everyone who's not from Minnesota.
- 10:56Is fringing. So bad.
- 10:58Sorry, you've got like the. Then for our international
- 11:01viewers, apparently we don't even know how to speak our own
- 11:04language. It doesn't even sound different
- 11:06to me when I was. But I was now I want to know
- 11:08about people from the UK who technically are the owners of
- 11:13the English language, hence England.
- 11:16Yeah. How do they say a bag?
- 11:18Maybe they have a different word.
- 11:20Sack You know what a. Pack or a sack.
- 11:24Or maybe we should. But are we saying sack and.
- 11:28Sack bag. OK, I can't do it.
- 11:31I can't do it. So I promise you right now
- 11:34there. Are.
- 11:35Who are listening and they're saying the word beg to try to
- 11:40get it right and the rest of them are like, I'm done, I'm
- 11:42turning them off. They sound terrible.
- 11:44We got cancelled. This was it.
- 11:46This was how we got cancelled. This is the lamest cancellation
- 11:50in the history of anything. The most Minnesotan
- 11:53cancellation, too, you know. Because we say vague.
- 11:58Because we say vague anyhow, so that I don't know what came up
- 12:03with that, but I was laughing whenever I don't know that.
- 12:06And and I'm sure there's other things people are really
- 12:09noticing about us Minnesotans that are that are coming up.
- 12:12But oh, was it Fargo? I couldn't watch that movie
- 12:16because the accents were so bad. I think that's any maybe.
- 12:20That was that was part of what we were talking about, winter
- 12:23storms. That was what was happening
- 12:25because we're currently in the deep dark of winter.
- 12:29We are. But it's lightening.
- 12:32We've passed the the December 21st or second darkest day of
- 12:37the year and we're heading towards we're less than, hey,
- 12:41here's the good news. We're less than 60 days away.
- 12:45What is it? The 20?
- 12:47We're like 50 ish days away from technically spring equinox,
- 12:54which is the start of spring. So that's great news.
- 12:59Sure, sure. I'm happy about it, just think
- 13:02about it. I mean, yeah, I'm trying.
- 13:04Not that it means it's the actually end of winter.
- 13:07Like it's just so heavy right now.
- 13:09I can't even. I can't even.
- 13:12But so the other thing that we've been going through besides
- 13:15the cold snap is last time we announced that we have a puppy.
- 13:21Oh yes, we did. We finally decided on a name.
- 13:24We did. And would you like to reveal the
- 13:26great name? Of our Great Dane.
- 13:29Of our Great Dane. I don't know if you did that on
- 13:31purpose, but I will. Her name is Cleopatra.
- 13:35Yes, yes, Cleo or Miss Cleo. Or Liz for Liz Taylor for sure.
- 13:42No, we're not going a hold another name for her.
- 13:44That's. Kind of funny though.
- 13:45That's not fair to her, but you were talking about the darkness.
- 13:49Queen of the Nile. Yes.
- 13:52We can call her that. Sure, she won't respond, but
- 13:55yeah, OK. She also isn't really responding
- 13:58yet much to her name. She's what, 13 weeks old now?
- 14:02I don't. Well, can we not do the weeks?
- 14:04OK, we're already into months. Three months, yeah, there we go.
- 14:07Three months, one week. Is that does that make you feel
- 14:09better? It can.
- 14:10Yeah, you can just. Say that.
- 14:12Here's what we do After three months, we say three months
- 14:15until we say 3 1/2 months, and then we say 3 1/2 months until
- 14:19we say four months because we're adults.
- 14:21It's not an an adult thing to. Think.
- 14:23Disagree. OK.
- 14:26Are you like one of those people who I don't even remember, thank
- 14:29God, because it was 14 years ago when our child, let's say she
- 14:34was, I don't know. I don't even go with four months
- 14:37old. Were you out here just saying
- 14:39she was 12 weeks old or were you saying she was four months old?
- 14:43Well, if she was four months old, I would say four months
- 14:45old. But if she had a.
- 14:46Week weeks old. I would say she was 17 weeks
- 14:51old. That is messed up.
- 14:52Seriously, 4 1/2 months is what that is.
- 14:55No it isn't. Wow.
- 14:57It sure isn't wow, but they're like those weeks matter for, you
- 15:04know, developmental reasons. Did I just do the math wrong?
- 15:11This is why we don't say 4 1/2. We say the weeks because if you
- 15:15can continue to count the months or weeks like that, then you're.
- 15:20Maybe that's the problems. I can't count that high.
- 15:24I'd rather do months because they're littler numbers it.
- 15:27Is littler, yes. Anyhow, so we've had her for
- 15:31like a week now and she's doing pretty good on a lot of things.
- 15:35Only a week? It feels like it's been 3 weeks.
- 15:38Maybe it's more than a week. It's because we haven't slept.
- 15:40That's true. That's true.
- 15:42Very little sleeping. But so anyhow, she's been potty
- 15:45training and we've been doing OK with that.
- 15:48But now you were talking about the light and she has this new
- 15:52thing, and I remember another dog we had had this thing where
- 15:56she's like kind of scared of the dark and shadows at night and
- 16:01sounds. So when we go and take her out
- 16:03pottying, at least when I do like, it's everything, She's
- 16:07like, you know, really twitchy. I did notice her doing that just
- 16:10last yesterday, not to this morning.
- 16:13All they're blurring together, I don't remember which day.
- 16:16I we had another dog who did that and that lasted so long.
- 16:21I just can't wait till she's potty trained.
- 16:24That would be it. That would be really nice, but I
- 16:27think we kind of got to get over.
- 16:28This also once we're past winter.
- 16:30Yes, but I think we need to get over this hump of her being
- 16:33scared of shadows because, you know, she'll see.
- 16:36I was walking with her and she saw my shadow and she was like
- 16:38freaked out and like, I need to get back in, you know, must save
- 16:41myself. Last night I was getting so mad
- 16:44because there was there was a helicopter at one point that
- 16:48flew over and then there. Was a helicopter.
- 16:51Yeah, that's the times we're living in.
- 16:54Cuz Minnesota and we're the hotbed of protests.
- 16:58Yeah, so there. Well, and yeah, beyond that, I
- 17:01don't think it was for protesting that the helicopter's
- 17:03out. Surveillance.
- 17:04Yes. So that's great.
- 17:07Because we say vague. Because we say vague, Yeah.
- 17:10And old, we say. Old, you say?
- 17:12Old. Sorry.
- 17:13You betcha. We're terrible.
- 17:18Anyhow, so every single noise she was like that and I just did
- 17:23not. I just I was losing my mind just
- 17:25most recently, but she'd been doing really well.
- 17:28So I'm wondering to my animal loving friends who may be
- 17:33listening, is there like a certain peak time where dogs are
- 17:38hypersensitive to those things? You know, like, like the, I'm
- 17:43sure it's very instinctual of, you know, Oh my God, that's a
- 17:46loud animal. It's going to kill me.
- 17:48Or, you know, something moving in the dark, You know, all of
- 17:51those things must, must hide. But it is not very helpful for
- 17:56me when I'm getting very frustrated in the -2° weather,
- 18:00standing outside with our dog and her boot and her boots and
- 18:03coat and all of that. And I'm in my coat and boots.
- 18:07So I'm just like what? Was that thing you just said
- 18:10boots twice? What was that thing?
- 18:13Well, that's because I was wearing boots and she was
- 18:14wearing boots. Right.
- 18:16What was that thing that was it our kid or her or her friends?
- 18:22It was boots and cats. Boots and cats and boots and.
- 18:25Cats. Was that from a show?
- 18:26She was. In was it was from a show and.
- 18:29There was a show that we went to where they sang the song
- 18:32Knocking the Boots. Remember that.
- 18:35Yes. That was a wild.
- 18:36Show. That was the most wild show I
- 18:39think I've ever been to. Yep.
- 18:42Only because the audience though, right?
- 18:44The audience created the wild out of that.
- 18:47But yeah, So anyhow, I'll be really happy when we're out of
- 18:50this exact phase that we're in. But she's been really snuggly,
- 18:55which is kind of nice. She's super huge.
- 18:58And today she likes to sit under my desk at work.
- 19:03Yeah, I work from home. I work from home.
- 19:06Yeah, sure. And I have a little heater at my
- 19:10feet. And she's decided that sitting
- 19:12next to the heater is really nice for her.
- 19:15And all of our other dogs we've ever had have ran like hot, like
- 19:18keep me away from the heat. And this one's like, I want to
- 19:21be right on it and under my desk.
- 19:23So I have good ergonomics or I don't know, whatever, maybe
- 19:27ergonomics. I have a little foot stool so
- 19:29that I can have my feet flat while I work so I don't sit on
- 19:32my knees. And she decided today to try to
- 19:36sit on the little footstool and she sat there for a few little
- 19:41bit, but then when she tried to get comfortable, she fell off.
- 19:44And it was kind of. It was her back feet are bigger
- 19:47than a footstool. I know, I know, Like here she
- 19:50is. I had to weigh her for something
- 19:51today and she's 35 lbs trying to fit onto this little footstool.
- 19:56Maybe we'll find a way to attach this picture.
- 19:59It was. Just got to be, I don't know, 8
- 20:02by 10. Oh, my footstool.
- 20:05Yeah, I don't. It's just a old school
- 20:07footstool. It's not like you.
- 20:08Could put your two feet on it and that would be all.
- 20:12Yeah, it's not very big, but it was just she was really trying
- 20:15to sit on that. So anyhow, I'm letting her love
- 20:18the opportunity to be under the table or under my desk where my
- 20:22feet are for now. That's I'm going to put it at
- 20:26maybe 3 months before she's no longer able to sit under that
- 20:30desk as well. All right, sure.
- 20:33Beyond that, she's and that'll be a hard day for her because
- 20:36she'll have to get away from the warm.
- 20:38Well, but by then it'll be summer.
- 20:40It's still cold down in her basement where I work.
- 20:43I use that space heater all year round, so she'll just be cold.
- 20:49She'll be cold. Maybe I'll get her a little
- 20:51blanket once I can trust her with blankets and she can put it
- 20:54on. Herself.
- 20:54Maybe she'll be OK, maybe, I don't know.
- 20:56OK, I don't know. She's precious, so she gets
- 21:01really chilly, I would say. Wow, yeah.
- 21:07Yeah. That is the dirtiest, best
- 21:10segue. I love that you appreciate my
- 21:13segue so much. Terrible.
- 21:16Oh my God. So today, as I'm sure you video
- 21:20and audio folks who are enjoying us already know, we're talking
- 21:28about that favorite favorite dish that isn't quite soup.
- 21:35No, it's not. And isn't quite whatever the
- 21:40heck is thicker thicker than chili?
- 21:43I don't know. Cheap cheeseburgers with beans?
- 21:45No, I don't know. Whatever.
- 21:49It's chili. It's, you know, a very Hardy and
- 21:54delicious and varied in its presentations.
- 21:58Soup like dish. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:00I mean, maybe it's more of a Stew.
- 22:03It's I would, I would liken it to Stew before I would liken it
- 22:07to soup. Yeah, because of its hardiness.
- 22:11Yeah, yeah. Well, and there's so many ways
- 22:13to make chili that I think it's quite interesting.
- 22:19Are you in pain? I'll be OK.
- 22:21So Luke is still recovering from his from his one surgery.
- 22:25So we're. Going to take sympathy votes.
- 22:27Well, you might have gotten, you might have gotten a couple
- 22:30recently, but. Oh sure, not that I could have
- 22:33been right. Good Lord, does the man who says
- 22:37I cheat, that's how I win. Are you voting for yourself
- 22:41again? Nuts.
- 22:42You better not. Anyhow, so back to what we were
- 22:46talking about, which was the chili in all the different ways
- 22:50people and people have very specific ways that they.
- 22:53Need hold on side segue not interruption.
- 22:57Interruption is chilly. The name of the guy in Get
- 23:02Shorty. Sorry, be cool.
- 23:06Yeah. Was he in both?
- 23:08Yeah. Chilly Palmer.
- 23:10Yeah, he was in both. That's a fantastic movie.
- 23:12Really is. Really is.
- 23:14I'm talking about the second one, I can't remember.
- 23:16The first one way better than Get Shorty.
- 23:18Be cool. That's the one I was talking
- 23:19about. That's a great movie.
- 23:20That's. A really good movie.
- 23:22Oh, I thought you said that. I was just with you with.
- 23:24It sorry, chilly. That's what happened.
- 23:26Also chilly. Willy the Penguin, Chilly.
- 23:29Willy the Penguin the Penguin. Chilly Willy?
- 23:31Yeah, frozen through and through.
- 23:33My head is hot and my tail is cold.
- 23:34Huh. He hats.
- 23:35You we just pleased some of. Our viewers about the crack.
- 23:38None of our none of our under 30 viewers know what's happening
- 23:41right now. None of them.
- 23:43They're like, what are they doing?
- 23:44I think I know the whole song. Well, folks, that's called the
- 23:46theme song. They know theme songs to which.
- 23:49Their own Amber knows every lyric, apparently.
- 23:52Well, that's because one of my sister's Chilly Willy was her
- 23:55favorite. But Penguins are cute.
- 23:58Why not? And he was a cute little
- 23:59Penguin. So if you're young and have
- 24:01never heard of Chilly Willy. I feel like Chilly Willy right
- 24:04now. You should.
- 24:05Yeah. Oh, Jeep Willy's what that is
- 24:08doing things. It's another segue.
- 24:10It's from chilly to chilly. Willy, Willy.
- 24:14OK, how about Chilly from TLC? Oh, how about left eye?
- 24:19Wow. No, you're you're not supposed
- 24:21to. Recipes we're doing, we're 6° of
- 24:24Kevin Bacon. I'm just saying so.
- 24:27Bacon goes in chili. A good Segway so you know.
- 24:31That's called full circle. You did go bacon and chili.
- 24:34Sure it can. I don't think it's a required
- 24:37ingredient. Oh, it's a required.
- 24:39You know what is required in chili.
- 24:42Tomatoes. Well, sure.
- 24:44I don't know. White white chili?
- 24:46Does that have tomatoes? No, it wouldn't see no it.
- 24:48Wouldn't you're right, but I feel.
- 24:49Like I totally slept on white chili.
- 24:51Chili powder is chili powder in white chili.
- 24:55I don't know. I don't.
- 24:57Know are chili beans in white? Chili.
- 24:58Yes. Well, there's beans in white
- 25:00chili. Is it different beans?
- 25:03Are they Navy beans? Pinto beans?
- 25:05Kidney beans? Fava.
- 25:06What's a fava bean? Fava beans.
- 25:08I don't even know what that is. But you know what it is because
- 25:14you've seen the movie where he talks about fava beans sliding
- 25:20out the lambs. Was that in that one or
- 25:21Hannibal? I don't know.
- 25:23But no fava bean, they're bigger pods.
- 25:26Actually, I just realized they're right is they're not a
- 25:28is they're not a requirement for chili to be.
- 25:32I was gonna say chili beans or chili powder.
- 25:38What makes it chili? And now I don't know that I
- 25:41actually can claim either one, because if you throw white chili
- 25:45into the mix, which I would say is chili, I would.
- 25:48To me, it's not a soup because it mimics chili.
- 25:50It's just not tomato Y. Right, right.
- 25:54I don't know. Does that count as chili?
- 25:56I feel like it does. I mean, if it has the word chili
- 25:59in it, don't you think it would? Because it's like similar stuff,
- 26:02it's just different. It's a different base, but it's
- 26:05still thick. Can be.
- 26:08Can be well, I haven't had really like your.
- 26:10Dad makes a really good white chili, which we were supposed to
- 26:14get the recipe for. And he offered to to bring me
- 26:17some food for my next surgery. And we're gonna have to write
- 26:22that down. Yeah, I'm gonna forget.
- 26:24Do you wanna write it down? I mean, I'll.
- 26:25You're gonna forget. I'll remember.
- 26:27OK? What?
- 26:28He offered to bring over whatever whenever so we can.
- 26:31That white. Chili turn him into a food
- 26:32helper. Yeah, white chili.
- 26:34That's what I would say because we make chili here in our house,
- 26:38but we don't. Make sometimes I ask him to make
- 26:40something that he makes, and then he asks me what the recipe
- 26:43is. I'm like, what?
- 26:46You're the one that makes it. He's like, well, I've probably
- 26:49given you the recipe like, no, no you haven't.
- 26:52No, he did give you the white chili recipe and we never tried
- 26:56it. I know he did, yes, because.
- 26:59Well, that's funny. Now if he asks, I can say yes.
- 27:01In fact, I do. Yeah, I'm sure you have it
- 27:03emailed. I do.
- 27:05I would assume he that's he's really good at emailing.
- 27:08He probably printed out a recipe and we gave it to you as well.
- 27:11We might have multiple forms of this thing, yeah.
- 27:13So anyhow, I had completely slept on white chili.
- 27:16I was. Thinking don't cuz it's good no.
- 27:18It's good. It's good.
- 27:20Well, I mean, and it depends on where you're from.
- 27:22Like people get real serious about.
- 27:24Chili. Oh yeah.
- 27:25Like there's and I don't I, I think.
- 27:28There's and there's different, like it's like books, man.
- 27:31There's like different genres. There's BBQ chili.
- 27:35Barbecue chili. Oh yeah.
- 27:36Oh, I guess. I guess.
- 27:39I mean, would you call it BBQ? 100% they put like BBQ rib meat
- 27:43in the chili instead of cheeseburger.
- 27:46It's not. Cheeseburger.
- 27:46What kind of? It's ground beef.
- 27:49There's cheese in it. There's no cheese in it.
- 27:51Sometimes there's cheese in the chili, so there's a cheeseburger
- 27:54chili. Don't hate.
- 27:56Do you got to hate? Just going to add, you put
- 27:58cheese in your chili which has burger.
- 28:00How is that not a cheeseburger? It's ground beef.
- 28:04But that's what a burger is. It can be.
- 28:06Hold up, hold on. Are we OK?
- 28:10I'm just saying. Now we need to have an episode
- 28:12about What's a Cheeseburger because apparently you forgot.
- 28:15We discussed that before that we're going to have what do you
- 28:18burger? It's a burger.
- 28:19It's a you put it's ground beef in the shape of a Patty that
- 28:23equals oh. This is a whole stop stop, save
- 28:28your ammo We're. Saving this for the podcast
- 28:30save. Your ammo for the next podcast?
- 28:33Get get ready to because it's we're throwing down.
- 28:36Anyhow, so back to Chile, which can be very, very, it's
- 28:41polarizing, I'll tell you, because like it depends on where
- 28:44you're from as to what's acceptable.
- 28:46I happen to kind of be at anything goes on the chili for
- 28:50the most part. I'm not like, I'm not saying it
- 28:54like the rules that are required for chili.
- 28:57Are we talking about a chili cook off?
- 28:59No, I'm talking about like there are people who are real strict.
- 29:02Like that is not chili if you don't have.
- 29:05This. Like there's probably people
- 29:06that think white bean chili is not chili.
- 29:08Right, I there are I'm sure, huh?
- 29:11I'm sure there are people who think that, you know, must have
- 29:14tomatoes, while I'm certain that the white chili I've had has not
- 29:17gotten tomatoes in it. Oh, but you know what I'm really
- 29:22wanting right now, which has nothing to do with chili
- 29:24whatsoever? Chicken wild rice soup.
- 29:30I really miss Sunset's restaurant in Woodbury.
- 29:33Yeah, it's. Gone.
- 29:34May he or she forever Rest in peace.
- 29:36I. Don't know if they died.
- 29:38I was talking about the restaurant and it was
- 29:40genderizing it. May they may.
- 29:42It may it rest in peace. That place had the most amazing
- 29:46chicken wild rice soup they did that either of us has ever had.
- 29:50And I eat chicken wild rice soup when I see it on the menu.
- 29:52I'm trying it. Most of the time I'm like, well,
- 29:54what if it's amazing? And you're disappointed.
- 29:57And every time I'm like, well, sometimes I'm like, that's bad.
- 30:00Which? Is I know.
- 30:01Which is less than 50% of the time.
- 30:05I'm disappointed in soup infrequently, but I'm impressed
- 30:10with soup infrequently as well. So there's a Up North cafe.
- 30:17Tower. Yeah, they posted on their Page
- 30:211. Day they have amazing.
- 30:23They said it and I'm like, why? Are you so?
- 30:26Far away. Don't get your hopes up.
- 30:28I mean, I'm not driving. I'm not driving up there.
- 30:31It's a four hour hike. But maybe next year, if my
- 30:35sister comes down in the winter and it's on their special, I'll
- 30:39say please bring it down. Yeah, get us, get us a couple
- 30:42pints. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:44Just bring it down. We'll eat it.
- 30:45Wait, is that a court? Yeah, get us a quart.
- 30:49OK. Or a quart, like a quart of oil.
- 30:53I don't know. I don't know.
- 30:54But I it looked good. It looked good.
- 30:57But I agree, I'm really skeptical because most of the
- 31:00time I've had it I'm like no. The one buying my works pretty
- 31:03good. Have you had that?
- 31:06No, I haven't. We talked about you having it.
- 31:10No, we haven't, Luke. Kind of surprisingly, out in the
- 31:14middle I think of less. Hold on, disclaimer to the folks
- 31:20watching. That might be in the Southwest
- 31:22metro. She's about to say some
- 31:25disparaging thing. Whoa.
- 31:26I was going to say smaller business area, right?
- 31:30Like there's not as many businesses that I can think of
- 31:34in that area as where we live, you know, like in like the Twin
- 31:38City, like there's sure. The housing and market density
- 31:43is more here than it is there. The food in your area, there's
- 31:48some real good. There's some bangers down there.
- 31:50Yeah, I don't, I don't know. We've got a hot BBQ spot.
- 31:53They're back open. Uh oh, look, but they only open.
- 31:57It's weird. They're like, you know, the BBQ
- 31:58spots in Kansas City where they'll be like, we're only open
- 32:03on Thursday and Friday from like.
- 32:06Two to seven. Two to seven in the evening,
- 32:09'cause it takes 20 hours to smoke the meter and it's good.
- 32:12I mean, their food's good. There's no doubt.
- 32:14Yeah, yeah. So they're back doing their
- 32:16deal, but very limited. And then we have that one
- 32:20Mexican place that's really good called Baravis.
- 32:24Shout out to Baravis with 2A's and sorry I didn't say it, but
- 32:29Mr. Pig stuff is the first one. Oh yeah, they're pretty good.
- 32:32They're both delicious. And then the place I was talking
- 32:34about with the chicken wild rice is called Zupa Cucina.
- 32:38They have really good everything actually.
- 32:40It's like it's local, it's small.
- 32:43They make really good sandwiches and soups and that's kind of
- 32:45their deal. They also do a pizza that's
- 32:47allegedly delicious but I've never ordered it 'cause we
- 32:50overload on pizza. So do any of these places make
- 32:53chili 'cause that's what we were talking about.
- 32:56I don't know. OK, so.
- 32:59I bet you there's a BBQ chili at Mr. Pig's Stuff.
- 33:01So anyhow, anyhow, we're going to go back to what we're
- 33:04talking. About Back to chili.
- 33:05Back to chili, all of those things, even though we just ate
- 33:10God, I feel like we should just be, we should say, arguing ever
- 33:13after with food because they're and movies, food and movies.
- 33:18That seems to be two. Things always comes up in our
- 33:21and animals. Oh my God, yeah, these are great
- 33:23things. Why doesn't everybody listen?
- 33:25Why don't we just call it arguing ever after?
- 33:28What? You're starting to add too many
- 33:31things to it. Well, anyhow, so we're talking
- 33:34about chili because the other day I happen to be somewhere and
- 33:38I don't know, I feel like this happens every like in a lot of,
- 33:42you know, the Midwest, it probably happens lots of places.
- 33:45But I was seeing that there was a chili cook off, right?
- 33:48OK, and it got me and there were prizes for the chili cook off,
- 33:55which I mean, I know like there's BBQ.
- 33:58There's something there's good prizes for.
- 34:00These yeah, this this was a monetary which really actually
- 34:02shocked me from where this was, but like, you know, like that
- 34:06this is. My work has an annual chili cook
- 34:08off. Yeah.
- 34:10Where at your dealership or your?
- 34:13We've done it at my spot once or twice in the last five years.
- 34:18COVID did mess some things up and but the one of our larger
- 34:22locations does it every year. Although I think they did hold
- 34:25off in 2020 and maybe 2021. Well, we learned a few things,
- 34:32but anyhow. So like the big thing about a a
- 34:35chili cook. Hawk it.
- 34:37Wow, I can't. Cook off.
- 34:38It's cook off. Yeah.
- 34:40Cook. And then the word off 1st it's
- 34:42cook. What did I say?
- 34:43I said cook Hawk cacaque. Sound like a like a chicken.
- 34:48Chili cacao. Yeah.
- 34:50White chili, Yeah. Yeah.
- 34:53Anyhow. But they'll have all of, you
- 34:56know, several people are like, my Chili's legit and it is the
- 35:00best. And then people around taste and
- 35:03decide who is, who is the winner.
- 35:06And someone asked me if I was going to participate, and I
- 35:11said, I, I mean, well, I have a chili recipe.
- 35:15Yeah. It's a, it's a really.
- 35:18It's not like I would call it homemade but not made from
- 35:25scratch. That's that's accurate.
- 35:29It's more like a more like a Hamburger Helper situation.
- 35:33And I'm kind of more of a Hamburger Helper cooker, yeah.
- 35:36Like I like a cysts, like I don't want to have a lot of
- 35:40ingredients do most of the work for me.
- 35:44I know that there are, you know, hey, if anytime one of these big
- 35:47food companies who does this, like food deliveries wants to
- 35:50sponsor us, you know, or whatever it is, we're like we've
- 35:53planned out your meal. This is all you have to do.
- 35:55It's all perfectly measured for you.
- 35:57I'd be cool with that 'cause that's how I like to be.
- 35:59I like it. I already figured out where all
- 36:01I have to do is like 3 simple steps.
- 36:03That's my chili. Recipe is 3 simple steps.
- 36:10Ground the beef. Yeah, I mean Brown.
- 36:14Oh, Brown. Yeah, I'm like a word.
- 36:16I'm. Words are hard.
- 36:17We're all sleep deprived. Over here, sorry if you're
- 36:20feeling like you're having a stroke listening.
- 36:24It's just no, I just can't word today, but.
- 36:26Also, if you are, you should go to the ER immediately, yeah.
- 36:29Yeah, that's probably a good idea, but make sure you continue
- 36:32to listen. Wow.
- 36:35And tell your doctor you know. Shameless plug.
- 36:41Yeah, let him know. Hey, what were you doing when
- 36:44you started to feel like you were having a stroke?
- 36:45Well, I was listening to my favorite.
- 36:47Podcast arguing ever after Amber was saying words backwards and
- 36:51just my brain short circuited and here we are.
- 36:53Here we are, so you should listen.
- 36:56That's our new tagline Arguing Ever After with pets and food
- 37:00and movies. Also, this may cause a stroke.
- 37:04Oh yeah, there you go. We need a disclaimer.
- 37:07Oh yeah. Like prescription drugs?
- 37:09Yeah. Hey, Amber, I have a question
- 37:11for you. OK, I didn't finish my recipe.
- 37:16Aw, I was trying to surprise you why you got a.
- 37:18I'm listening though. I didn't even the.
- 37:20The people want to know. I'll tell them at later.
- 37:23I'll tell them later. It's fine.
- 37:25The three simple steps. The three simple.
- 37:27Steps. OK.
- 37:28I'm sure you'll bring it up. OK.
- 37:31Are you excited to ask me a question?
- 37:33I I well, I think. Oh, in this corner.
- 37:36Oh my gosh, I'm so shocked that Luke, Luke asked a question.
- 37:39There we go. This is, you know, this is, this
- 37:42is the real deal here in this corner weighing in at probably
- 37:46182 lbs because he's not been able to eat much for a while.
- 37:50And I'm back up to 187 or 8. OK, we have Luke and he is
- 37:58coming in today with a tally. He's been really nice.
- 38:02He doesn't know what the tally is, but we still.
- 38:06Like 12 to 9. Seven ties what 9?
- 38:09Or seven ties. We had eight ties last time.
- 38:11No, no, no ties. Oh, we had eight.
- 38:15Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. 8 ties.
- 38:17Yeah. 8 ties, Yeah. And eight.
- 38:21You have eight wins. I think that's the same.
- 38:24Yeah. OK.
- 38:26I have. You have 13 losses.
- 38:31What? Yeah, you lost another one.
- 38:33No, I didn't. You did.
- 38:35This is not you did you did. We got, we got a, we got
- 38:38something's going on. We got to talk to some people.
- 38:42I want to talk to the manager. Yeah, I do.
- 38:45I want to talk to the. Can I talk to your supervisor
- 38:48please? No, no.
- 38:50But the next couple ones, maybe you've gotten some sympathy
- 38:53votes. They're not closed out, but
- 38:54you're in the lead. But yeah, I don't.
- 38:57Gosh, Yeah. So you.
- 38:59Yeah, they call in a ringer and get my mom involved.
- 39:01I'm sure she already. Is oh, no, she hasn't.
- 39:04She hasn't tuned in. She hasn't tuned in because,
- 39:07well, because. The world is.
- 39:09Unfairness because Minneapolis, where we live is a conflagration
- 39:15of many things right now. And I think people are not from
- 39:19our area anyway, which is where most of our listeners are from.
- 39:23They're not tuning in much to the to the podcasts, they're not
- 39:27tuning in much to stuff, but they're probably watching a
- 39:30whole bunch of news or listening to a whole bunch of radio news
- 39:33or whatever, so. I mean, I, I, I hear that.
- 39:36I understand. I get it.
- 39:37It's been wild. Anyhow, so that's that's that's
- 39:40the. And in this corner we have Amber
- 39:43claiming to weigh in and 135 lbs and making a weird face gesture
- 39:50about that. Does that mean you're sneaking
- 39:52up on it or something? We can't.
- 39:53We don't need to talk about it. And wearing a shirt that's
- 39:56holding summer vibes, which says I'm a flip flop and Jeep kind of
- 40:01girl. Something like that.
- 40:02Yeah, it does say that. And I always wish that it would
- 40:04say kind of woman because you know well.
- 40:08Anyway, so it doesn't so and. And.
- 40:15So my my question that I wanted to ask you is if you're entering
- 40:22into a chili competition, does the chili have to be homemade or
- 40:29not? And if it's not, is it cheating?
- 40:34Not really. A2 parter.
- 40:35You can blend those together as however we decide after the
- 40:39podcast to form the question for the interwebs.
- 40:43But that's the question. Is it cheating if you have not
- 40:45homemade chili? So this is interesting because
- 40:51this is a controversy in our local.
- 40:55Remember our friend who used to say controversy?
- 40:58No, I don't remember that. Anyhow, in our local chili cook
- 41:02off that's coming up here in honor of the Super Bowl.
- 41:06Apparently last year there was a major upset because someone did
- 41:12submit a chili dish, a chili that was not made from scratch.
- 41:18I believe it was canned Hormel. Yeah, Chili.
- 41:22So. You know what's funny?
- 41:26Unrelated. I didn't know that this was
- 41:28going to be. Maybe I did and it was
- 41:29subliminal. Did you tell me yesterday or
- 41:31today? Today.
- 41:32OK, so not kidding. Then today at the grocery store,
- 41:37because I had to go there to get salad because I'm trying to be
- 41:41healthy for lunch, I also picked up two cans of Hormel chili.
- 41:46All right. Is that was that a coincidence?
- 41:48It was. It was just a coincidence, OK.
- 41:52Or telepathy maybe? Telemetry.
- 41:56So anyhow, I'm thinking about about that and how there was
- 42:00upset about that and and in this scenario, in this chili cook off
- 42:08the canned chili won. That's a little depressing, you
- 42:13would think. Well, it was a blind taste test
- 42:16and no one told them that it was canned until after they won.
- 42:18They're like it was, you know, whatever it was or I don't know
- 42:21the brand. And I oh, so it might not have
- 42:23been that might have been a different brand.
- 42:25It could have been, it could have been, you know?
- 42:27At the grocery store there looks like there's three, give or
- 42:30take. Yeah, I don't know which brand
- 42:32it was, but anyhow, it took the chili cook off competition and
- 42:36it was a major upset because they're like, well, you know,
- 42:40people sometimes they're cooking it for a long time, you know,
- 42:44opening a can. So this is my recipe for chili.
- 42:49I ground the beef. Brown you brown the beef.
- 42:53Why do? I keep saying that.
- 42:54Because you're Browning ground beef and they rhyme.
- 42:56That's true. But anyway.
- 42:58Well, I ground the beef, then I cook.
- 43:00Brown the beef. Then I cook it.
- 43:07People, if you could see our faces if you're audio go video
- 43:11on Spotify it's. Oh gosh.
- 43:15And you know, and then I open a can of chili tomatoes.
- 43:19I thought you were going to say open a can of something else.
- 43:22No. And, and you know, here's the
- 43:28real secret I've learned from the cooking shows.
- 43:30OK, if you have canned tomatoes, you have to cook them a little
- 43:32bit, otherwise they continue to taste tinny.
- 43:34So I let them cook a little bit while my beef is draining.
- 43:37Oh, this is a new. It's not new.
- 43:41This has been my my major recipe for a long.
- 43:44Time. It's secret, yeah.
- 43:46But anyhow, then I put the beef in and then I put in the canned
- 43:50chili beans. So I still call this homemade.
- 43:55However, I wouldn't call it made from scratch.
- 44:01OK, that's a whole nother episode.
- 44:05Homemade and made from scratch 2.
- 44:08Different things. Or two different things.
- 44:13Oh, that hurt. They are.
- 44:15I don't know. That's such a thin line that I
- 44:17just want to know how many other things you would say.
- 44:20How is that not? How is that not?
- 44:23That's fine. I'm not Hey, whoa, I'm not
- 44:26picking a fight. Calm your.
- 44:27Britches there. Yeah, you actually are.
- 44:30You are? No.
- 44:30I'm not. Because you asked me A.
- 44:32Question. You're getting real.
- 44:35OK, keep going. OK, so anyhow, well I understand
- 44:43there are different levels of effort.
- 44:47I can't say that using canned chili is cheating.
- 44:55If it's a cook off and that's your recipe and that's what
- 44:59you're bringing, then it is what it is.
- 45:05And if it wins, it wins. Now caveat, just so everybody
- 45:13knows, I will never be entering a cooking a chili cooking
- 45:17competition. Or likely a cooking competition.
- 45:20Yeah, not that either, because you got some.
- 45:22You got some serious recipes though.
- 45:25I've brought some things that were made from scratch that I've
- 45:31gotten high praise from. Yeah, better than others, you
- 45:35know, like better than other people or whatever they're like.
- 45:37This is that great? However, I'm never going when I
- 45:41have found a good, easy, quick, chilly way.
- 45:47I'm not I I don't need to Guild the Lily.
- 45:50Let's just go with what we got. Guild.
- 45:52The Lily never heard that before.
- 45:54You've never heard? Guild the Lily.
- 45:56Guild the Lily. As if lilies are already at
- 45:59their heightened most perfect state of perfection.
- 46:03So thou shalt, thou shalt not guilt the guilt the Lily.
- 46:07Yeah. Huh.
- 46:10Interesting. OK.
- 46:11OK, so I'm and I'm teaching lots of things.
- 46:14I gave the listeners. Oh, that should have been my.
- 46:17I'm a gilded Lily. So anyhow, that was, oh I could
- 46:22have gone #7 that tip life hack number. 7.
- 46:28If you're using canned tomatoes, cook them down a bit 1st to get
- 46:31rid of that tin. There you go.
- 46:33That's not really a life hack. That's a cooking hack.
- 46:35But you've told me I can't intrude on your life hacks.
- 46:37Have your own life hacks, That's fine.
- 46:39I'm sorry. Food is life, Luke.
- 46:41I agree. Food is life, I.
- 46:43Love food life hacks so much. Canned tomato, yeah, cooking OK
- 46:48Anyhow, so based on this I'm saying it's not cheating.
- 46:53Now whether I feel. That's the question.
- 46:59Is it cheating? It's not cheating.
- 47:01It's not cheating. I do think that it would be
- 47:07really weird to enter that into a competition knowing that
- 47:11you're going up against people who have put like more effort
- 47:14in. Right.
- 47:15They've seasoned their own chili beans, for instance.
- 47:17Yeah, they made. 'Cause I think well, 'cause I
- 47:20think, OK, I thought and I have made the same we can air quotes
- 47:25recipe at home. The the tomatoes, are they just
- 47:30tomatoes or are they seasoned? Tomatoes are seasoned, yes.
- 47:33OK, so it's a can of seasoned tomatoes intended for chili,
- 47:37Yes, and a can of? Actually, chili tomatoes.
- 47:40And a can of chili beans seasoned for chili.
- 47:43Yes. And ground beef, which is brown.
- 47:50And that's the recipe. That's the recipe.
- 47:52Yep, Yep. OK.
- 47:54Once in a while I I try to judge it up a little bit and and once
- 48:00in a while you or Delilah can taste it.
- 48:02The worst is when you never mind, I'll let you be.
- 48:08Sorry your arguments lasting a long time because I keep talking
- 48:10I. Told you that, that is that
- 48:12that's what I'm saying. It's not cheating, but I kind of
- 48:15feel like you should disclose it also.
- 48:20Maybe just don't don't do it. Yeah, maybe just don't enter
- 48:23canned chili. Don't enter.
- 48:25But I don't think it's cheating. I think if that's your recipe,
- 48:27that's your recipe. No.
- 48:28Are we saying canned completed chili is cheating?
- 48:31Right, Because where's the line? Is yours cheating?
- 48:34That's my point. Where's the?
- 48:35Line I think that's also cheating if it's if we're
- 48:38entering into a competition and although this might lose me this
- 48:42stupid episode, but like if what you're doing is taking
- 48:47preseasoned canned tomatoes and preseasoned canned chili beans
- 48:51and dumping them into a bucket together and Browning ground
- 48:54beef, the total investment in active time is probably like
- 48:59less than 10 minutes. There's, you know, there's stove
- 49:02time. But like I was doing something
- 49:05with food is probably less than 10.
- 49:07So it's a great thing 'cause sometimes you need something
- 49:09easy. You got to have something easy
- 49:11to cook, and I like that, but it is a step past the canned chili,
- 49:17which is just warm it up. But I still think it's not.
- 49:20Let's enter a cooking competition for chili cook off.
- 49:24That's I'm saying that. So I think they're both
- 49:26cheating. OK.
- 49:28And that's in here. We'll start my argument.
- 49:29You had plenty of time. I'm going to go, oh, come back
- 49:33on camera. OK, You want to finish up?
- 49:35Go ahead. My.
- 49:35Closing arguments. Where is the line.
- 49:39Well, that's not the question. No, no, like that's why I'm
- 49:42saying it's not cheating because how could I then say what I
- 49:47like? I don't know.
- 49:48I'm just saying it's not cheating.
- 49:50It's weird and it's really weird that it wins.
- 49:53But also, there's a reason that they sell so many cans, because
- 49:56it probably tastes good. Well, maybe that's not cheating
- 50:00if you have canned, I guess I don't know.
- 50:03Well. I don't know.
- 50:05I haven't, I haven't investigated those who entered
- 50:08chili competitions like is, is everybody using chili beans that
- 50:15are seasoned? Is everybody using tomatoes that
- 50:18are seasoned? Or are they buying like chili
- 50:21beans and they're bringing to the table like cumin and garlic
- 50:25and onion powder and salt and pepper and they're doing their
- 50:27own? I'm going to guess that's, well,
- 50:30that's probably what should win. Like, you know, 'cause they're
- 50:35making it from scratch is one of your earlier claims.
- 50:38But but what if everybody's using canned, canned beans?
- 50:42I don't know. That's my point.
- 50:44We just don't know, do we? That's why I'm saying Nope, it's
- 50:47not cheating. So.
- 50:50Huh. Now for you, you were saying it
- 50:54is. I think you shouldn't win a
- 50:56cooking competition if you're taking something out of a can.
- 51:00Just don't. I don't think you should.
- 51:02I'd be like, I'd be like having a pancake competition and you're
- 51:06winning with pancakes which were beaten Egg.
- 51:10Pour in some milk, pour in some oil, pour in pancake mix which
- 51:14is pre made for you. How?
- 51:16Was that? That's not.
- 51:18That's not. Valid.
- 51:19It's it's a pancake when you're done cooking it, much like the
- 51:22chili that we make is chili when you're done cooking it, but it's
- 51:25not you didn't make the recipe. Oh my gosh.
- 51:30OK, keep going. Or, or you know, you, you can
- 51:32get a recipe, you can get a recipe from wherever.
- 51:35You can get a Betty Crocker's recipe or a or a Duncan Hines.
- 51:38Duncan Hines, just muffins. I think anyway you can get a
- 51:41recipe, but if you make it from scratch, like if you do the
- 51:45flour and the baking soda and like if you go from zero and I
- 51:49raw the ingredients together, I think that's, that's, that's it.
- 51:55Because you can't say that pancakes out of a box.
- 51:58You can say they're pancakes, but you can't say like, I'm
- 52:01going to join a pancake competition to see if I win.
- 52:07And what you did was you just took, you know.
- 52:09Just add water. Crusties just add water or or
- 52:14you know. I don't know.
- 52:16Or or Kodiak, I think that's a brand we have around here.
- 52:19We're just add an egg or something like I don't think
- 52:22that counts. So yeah, anyway, you can't bring
- 52:26prepped food to win a competition.
- 52:29That's it's cheating. OK.
- 52:32Are we done now with your? That is, that's the argument.
- 52:36Argument. I mean, I don't even know you're
- 52:37saying no. I don't even know if I need to
- 52:39make much of an argument. Oh, so you're done.
- 52:41OK, cool. Well, I didn't say that.
- 52:43I just would like to just clarify my point which is the
- 52:49question is, is it cheating correct if you bring prepped
- 52:55food? No, I'm whoa.
- 52:58To the to the competition. No.
- 53:02What? No.
- 53:03Well, what do you mean? No.
- 53:05OK, so you just can't, you're 12 to 8 and you can't stomach the
- 53:09thought of of that being in question because you don't want
- 53:13to lose. No you're saying canned chili.
- 53:15I'm just saying prepped is different.
- 53:17Like if I were to go to a store and buy their like or.
- 53:21So you would like to enter into the discussion that the actual
- 53:25question of our podcast, which is both of our podcast and I'm
- 53:29currently losing by 4 episode. You're just by the way.
- 53:32That means after you've asked. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 53:36no, I'm not actually. I brought it in myself in in
- 53:39your argument that yours was still chilly and it is, but it's
- 53:44I don't think it enters a competition.
- 53:46I don't think it should because you didn't make it from scratch.
- 53:49You didn't. You don't have the.
- 53:51You're not adding the raw ingredients together.
- 53:53OK, these. Are I think that's still
- 53:56cheating? OK, fine.
- 53:58Oh, that's what you want me to say?
- 54:00No. OK, I give up.
- 54:02It's fine. We could just have.
- 54:03No, no, no, no. Because you said crept and I
- 54:05would say if I was to go to a restaurant that serves chili and
- 54:09say I'll take 6 servings of that and bring it to a a thing as a
- 54:14chili cook off and say this is my entry for mine.
- 54:17I think that is cheating because I didn't do anything.
- 54:22Great, and I think that pouring 2 cans of something into a pot
- 54:26is cheating. OK, fine, we'll go with that.
- 54:30I can't keep going anyway, so sounds good.
- 54:33Here we go, folks. This is what happens when he's
- 54:36lost 13. Needs a break.
- 54:42Yeah, that's there we go. Let's leave it at that.
- 54:45So what do they do next, darling?
- 54:47So now what you do is you have to vote for either Luke whether
- 54:51or not canned chili is cheating in a chili cook off, or for me,
- 54:58whichever 1 you believe in. Whoa.
- 55:01And you can do that on Spotify. Hold on.
- 55:04We need to back up. No, No.
- 55:05Oh. My God.
- 55:07It's not a versus, it is. A versus.
- 55:09No, it's not. What?
- 55:12Canned chili versus you. You're saying that that you pour
- 55:17to the tomatoes and the beans. No what?
- 55:22OK, OK, we need to clarify this for the Oh my, Sometimes the
- 55:26podcast's gonna have a couple bumps and I'm confused.
- 55:29Too many bumps. So I think the question was from
- 55:34scratch counts. Yes.
- 55:42And the other two are cheating. You're not saying that.
- 55:47OK, great. I don't know.
- 55:49We don't even know anymore. We're going to formulate the
- 55:51question. I do know that the question was,
- 55:54is bringing canned chili to a cook a cook off cheating?
- 55:59And I said no, and you said yes. OK, fair enough.
- 56:02That's. The question.
- 56:03I'm fully lost. I agree with everything you've
- 56:04said and I hope the listeners vote for me.
- 56:08For the love of chili. In our polls, yeah.
- 56:12And then what you wanna do is like follow share and rate and.
- 56:18Tell your friends. That's always the most important
- 56:20part. Your friends and then we will
- 56:22catch you on the next episode. Thanks y'all, see ya.
