- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Um, his partner is not with us today, uh, but I'm really excited to talk to him and dive in.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the show, Jared.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I'm so honored to host you.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy to be here, Acta.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy to host you.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it's such a such a dream come true, and I can't wait to learn all about you.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And that's really where I want to start.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I want to really walk down memory lane and have you tell us all about yourself, all about toy box brands, everything that you guys have, you know, just where it all started, really, if you could walk us down memory lane.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: I I'm probably best known for creating two-faced cosmetics with my husband.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Um, gosh, that was 25 years ago, and kind of shaking shit up and disrupting the industry, uh, you know, back in the late 90s.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, uh my last job was at the mall, I'll tell you that.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I had the most amazing career and the most fabulous adventure and achieved things I never even dreamt of.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: And we left, um, we sold Too Faced to the SDA Lauder Companies uh about five years ago.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: And Jeremy and I left last June and uh June 30th, and on July 1st, we dived in to uh creating uh our next you know adventure.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: And that's like you said, Toy Box Brands is an incubator company where we're creating other um fabulous um brands beneath it.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: So our first brand was Diamond Drunk, our non-toxic, refillable, sustainable, plant-based high jewelry cleaner.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: And then the next thing is Polite Society.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: We're coming back to beauty, baby.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: And that launches in in a couple of weeks at Ulta exclusively.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I am so excited about both of like both the brands, but especially Polite Society.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: I know you have an awesome collab that I would can't wait to talk about.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: But I want to ask you a couple more questions, Jared, about uh Too Faced, because as all of us know, you know, everyone tuning in, Too Faced is iconic.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, it continues to be iconic, but you guys were really like, you know, just the first to do so many amazing things.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And I would love to hear about, you know, how all of that, like that vision and just that creativity, like where it really stemmed from, you know, just to give our listeners kind of context, you know.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: You know, I was just I grew up a very artistic kid.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: I was always winning and entering and winning art shows and things.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: And through complete accident, uh twist of fate um landed me at the SA Lauder Counter at the mall.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: And while I was there, I just took kind of a gay best friends approach, looking at how fun it was to make up all of these amazing women who would come in and sit in my chair and through the vehicle of beauty, instill self-esteem into them and have a good time, you know what I mean?
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: And and they'd they'd leave my chair feeling better, knowing that they were beautiful, and we had some fun together.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: And it just was something I loved so much, but understood very quickly that it was being taken a little too seriously in the late 90s.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: And it was an intimidating process for some women and it and it was very regimented step one, step two, step three, don't do this, you can't do that, don't worry this after 40, you know, all this stuff.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: And I was like, it's so fun.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Why are you guys taking it so seriously?
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Let's let's have some fun.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: So, through just experimentation and rebelliousness, I created the first glitter eyeshadow by chopping up a blush and mixing it with an eyeshadow, adding craft glitter to it, you know, and just kind of creating this world that I wanted to live in and be a part of.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And that's really how Too Faced was born.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, through the years uh, you know, leading Too Faced, we broke many records, um, did a lot of incredible, amazing things together, and I'm that I'm so proud of.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: And um, I'm just you know, so excited and ready to do it again because we've moved so far as a beauty community, as a world, as people, and uh I just think the world's ready for um, you know, the the next show.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, you I mean, you really created magic, and I mean you continue to do so.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And I just I find it to be so exceptional that you're just, you know, um, both you and Jeremy are just people that are, you know, like just visionaries, you know, you're creating magic, everything you're doing.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, from Too Faced to to now with the new launches.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, everything is just it's so it hits so heavily, you know what I mean, in the industry.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: And I just I I haven't really met people like that before where it's like, you know, some people just have that magic touch, you could say, you know what I mean?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: So I I really wanted to start with Too Faced because you guys, yeah, the eyeshadow, and I know that the the you know, the lip plumper was a first of its kind as well.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: So yeah, yeah.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: So that's yeah, you know, my brain works in a really funny way.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Like I don't really shop beauty, I get inspired by everywhere, you know, Alice on the planet.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Like I created the first lip plumper off of seeing a Viagra commercial yet you know, in the middle of the night where they were a little more graphic, and I learned to have blood vessel dilators work, and you know, putting putting the first mascara in a pink tube, calling it better than sex.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: I was told by everyone you can't call a mascara better than sex, you can't put it in a pink tube.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: No, nobody will take it seriously.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Girls are the funniest, sharpest, you know, uh, most brilliant creatures on the planet.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: They know the difference between slutty and sexy, or if you know, they get the joke.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Stop, yeah, stop minimizing their ability to discern what's fabulous.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And and pink is powerful, and who says it isn't, you know.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: So absolutely, yeah, absolutely.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: No, I think that that's that you really hit it on the head there.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I think that, and giving that consumer the power to do that, you know, it's like it's makeup is powerful, you know, and and you creating those products.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, of course, they were a statement on their own, you know, in the sense of like beautiful makeup, beautiful products, but I mean, also giving consumers this this confidence, you know what I mean?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Like, I I when I look at these products, I they're just screaming confidence, like, you know, just be yourself, don't be ashamed, you know, and that's so big.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: I feel like, you know, with all the marketing we see every day.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I still a lot of times I'm like, oh gosh, it's so cheesy, you know, with marketing.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: But it's like, you know, people are always trying to do that, if you know what I mean, like create this sexy idea, but they miss the mark, you know.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it really is about lifting each other up and and and creating a uh a brand that you feel the most yourself in through the vehicle of beauty, a world where you can be the most yourself, that you never dim your light, that we want to see all of the wonderful facets of you.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: We do not want you to um adjust who you are to make others comfortable, but we also need to leave space for those around us to do the same.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: You know, don't judge everyone.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Look for the best in each other.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: And through the shared, you know, love of beauty and and and you know, through the beauty community, let's let's get closer together, let's lift each other up and start celebrating the fact that sometimes it's just even more fun to get dolled up than it is even to go out and just you know, have a good time again and start start celebrating life again.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I could not agree more.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And, you know, with that, I really want to ask you, you know, having been in the industry for a while and seeing all the, you know, just seeing everything, right?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, you've seen all these amazing brands, all the not so amazing brands, you know, what had in your opinion, like when you look at the landscape of beauty, like what do you think has changed or remained the same and tried and true over the years so far?
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: You know, I think that because it's such a lucrative business, you saw a bunch of people rushing in like it was a gold mine, just trying to, you know, just trying to make money and weren't weren't really interested in the art of it, although many were, and you can tell those brands from the ones that weren't.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: And I think that the the important thing is is bringing something unique to the game, having your own vision, creating your own perspective of beauty and bringing that and having an authentic brand, an authentic heartbeat.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Those are the brands that I love and that I'm interested in.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: Um, if you're just trying to jump in to be, you know, to take advantage of whatever money you think is available or to, you know, just to kind of get rich quick, um, those that's I'm just not interested in that.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: I'm really interested in the unique, authentic flavor that all these different fantastic, fabulous beauty companies bring to the game.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I think that's uh you're so right.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's what wins at the end, it makes products you know timeless in a way.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: I feel like, you know, that energy.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: But I want to talk about, I want to talk about the new new projects, you know.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: I really, really want to learn about them, Jared, because I'm so excited, you know, for everyone listening, you know, as Jared had mentioned, you know, Diamond Drunk is this amazing line for you know jewelry.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: And it's I really want to learn about Diamond Drunk and then also have you dive into polite society for us.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: So maybe you could tell us a little bit about the background of Diamond Drunk to just Yeah, you know, Diamond Drunk for me, you know, I created it for myself.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: So Diamond Drunk is the first refillable, sustainable, non-toxic, plant-derived, fine jewelry cleaner.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: So it's for gold, platinum, diamonds, you know, your jewelry.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: And through COVID, we we we learned how very important it is to wash our hands, to stay clean.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: And when I learned that our rings and our watches and our earrings and things, over just two days of wear, have 400 times more bacteria and viruses that can make you sick than a toilet seat that we're touching Uber handles and phones and shaking hands and touching doorknobs and who knows what.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Yet we're just, you know, supposed to take our jewelry off and put it back on, you know, without cleansing it.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: And then when I looked into the jewelry cleaning um landscape, it hadn't even been looked at since the 50s and 60s.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: It was all chemical-based, formaldehyde, alcohol, just just stuff that was really toxic, not just for you and your jewelry, but for the planet.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: So I took a clean beauty approach.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: I thought this there have we can do this better, you know?
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: And I created a beauty ritual for your jewelry.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: So diamond junk comes in four colors, four cents.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: It's refillable.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: So it comes with a beautiful little um uh bottle of our diamond detox concentrate.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: You just pour it right in, fill the rest up with water, and it lasts about two to three months or until your fluid is dirty, and then you just pour it out down the sink, and it's just as safe as dish soap.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: And then you add another concentrate in, add water, and you're off to the races.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: But can you see I even it's beautiful and I elevated it.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: The little cage inside comes with a hook that you hang your ring on.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: There's a little earring clip to clean your earrings.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: There's a deeper, wider base to the basket, so you can put bangles, brooches, what have you in there.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: So, kind of like what Apple did, you know, they didn't invent computers, but they made computers better, they made them integrate into our lives better.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: And that's what Diamond Drunk is.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: It's elevating the game, it's offering you something superior that's actually good for you and the planet.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: And you can leave your jewelry in it overnight so you can create a beauty ritual when you wash your face, you know, when you're at nighttime, when you're ready to go to bed, put your jewelry in in for a night of detoxifying, dazzling sleep in the morning when you wash your face, get ready, put your makeup on, rinse your jewelry off, and you're out the door.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Well, I love what you said though, Jared, because I love how you like touched upon that idea of like bacteria accumulate on your jewelry.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: And I cannot tell you how many times, like I, you know, I'm in health the healthcare field, you know.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: So like we're not allowed to wear anything, like literally.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: But I love rings, you know, I've always loved rings, it's kind of part of my culture, you know.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: I grew up wearing them.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: And I remember when I first, you know, started my real training, like in surgery, it was like there's no way, you know what I mean?
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: There was no way I could even wear them.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And I at one point I just stopped, you know, because I was like, there's no point in me even trying because I'm always gonna have to take them off.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Not to mention whatever's left behind, I don't want to risk it, you know.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: So it's like you you're creating a product here that's it's not just a jewelry tour, it's it's actually giving options to people who enjoy jewelry, but you have to take it off or you have to change it.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, for it's for everybody, but especially when I think of healthcare workers, this is huge for us.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Like we we deal with this every single day, this problem.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: So thank you.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: I love you.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: Thank you for saying that.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: And you know, I also think of it like as a glorified ring dish, it's a place to put your jewelry where you know it's gonna be safe.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: And instead of just sitting there in the air, you're cleaning it and making it more dazzling and making it safer and making it more beautiful.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: So if you can get into the habit really of just putting your stuff in there when you're not wearing it, you're gonna see after a while.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Like I just cleaned, I just uh I emptied my diamond drunk vessel this morning.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: I've had it about two months with the cleaner in it, and it was time to it was time to dump it out.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: And I clean my ring every single night.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: So it is as clean as a ring can be.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: You should have seen the filth at the bottom of the vessel.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: I was like, whoa, you know, yeah, what do we come in contact with?
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: You know, it's disgusting.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: So and that's going in our food.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: It's we're touching our faces, we're touching our children.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: It's just such a better way of living.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: And I think it's also beautiful.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: And it's smell, they all smell, they're all scented with fine fragrances.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: They're 99.5% natural derived uh ingredients.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Um, soda ash uh is naturally ored from the green rivers of Wyoming, coconut, corn extract, sugar cane, beetroot, it's all in there to cleanse and and detoxify your jewelry better than the chemicals, and it's safe for you on the planet.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Well, also, like you had mentioned like touching your face.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, let's just think about makeup, right?
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Like we use our hands.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Like, how many makeup artists are out there listening?
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: You know, that you guys are doing makeup for clients and you you can't wear certain jewelry, you know what I mean?
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: It's got stuff on it.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: You have to be able to clean your stuff, or makeup might get on it.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: You have to clean your jewelry, and that's something that I actually wanted to touch upon, like, because this is so huge for me that you guys have launched this brand because I I mean, you know, you mentioned like back in the day, like in the 60s and 50s, but there were so many cool things back then in terms of like reusing your items, you know what I mean?
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: That I feel like we've lost over time as a culture.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: And I feel like the Diamond Drunk to me just feels so like just so classy, and it brings that vibe back in the way that you know, you take pride again in your jewelry.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: You know, you're taking pride in the items, whether they're heirlooms or just new jewelry, whatever it might be, it brings that that feeling back of like, oh my gosh, this is gorgeous, you know, like when you first saw it or when you first received the jewelry.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: So that's I mean, it's huge.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Oftentimes we're gifted jewelry, and you know, by our grandmother, a mother, you know, you get an engagement ring, you buy something special for yourself.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: They're they're very emotional and they're they're often physical manifestations of love.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: So we need to care for these things because in the end, we're gonna leave them to the next generation and the next generation, hopefully.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: And you want to care for them also.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: And clean diamonds just look bigger, honey.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: So there's a wear and wear right there.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: No, no, seriously.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I literally like sometimes I look at my rings and I'm like, you know, just because you've been wearing them, they they lose obviously their luster, but they also like they're not appealing to you anymore.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: So you're more likely to replace them with something, you know what I mean?
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Rather than just, you know, remember when back in the day people used to polish their shoes?
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: It's like the same concept.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: It's like you're why people were polishing their shoes, you know?
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: And it's sustainability.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: It's like stop throwing everything away.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Stop this.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: This, yes, the the landfills are are it's just devastating.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: And even the reason I didn't, the reason Diamond Drunk comes with a little bottle of the concentrate is because it takes a lot less energy, gasoline, everything to fly to ship little bottles of concentrate than it would a full vessel.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: So we were thinking of every single angle about how we could reduce our impact, how we could make sure your experience is wonderful, efficacious, emotional, and um also good for the planet, for animals and and for our jewelry.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Well, how long did this uh like did the planning take, Jared?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Because I know that it must have been really difficult to get like the formula down and like you know, really like come up with something that's so efficacious but still very clean, very sustainable.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Like, how was that whole process?
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Developing beauty and polite society is a clean brand.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: So learning all of the clean science and meeting the most incredible scientists and and brilliant minds within the clean science industry, I really plugged into them.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: So instead of going to a manufacturer that would manufacture cleaners, I went to uh through contacts within the beauty industry to create it.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: And that's why we were able to get something so much more efficacious, so much more powerful, and still have it be clean because it really did come from taking almost a cleanser approach for your face, you know, learning what ingredients dissolve oils, what ingredients work like magnets to pull dirt and grime out of your pores and away from your skin.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: It was the same, same science, same technology.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: But you know, obviously different because we're working with a different medium than skin, but that's the approach I took.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: And it took about a year.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I can imagine that.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: But that's really cool that you tied that in with the knowledge you have with the clean beauty side of things.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know we talk a lot about like clean beauty, but to see it applied in a whole different area is it's that's really unique.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: And you know, also I wanted to say, like, you know, I love that you made it clean because I'm one of those people, and I don't know if you can relate, but like I'm really like, I don't realize I have sensitivities to like wear certain jewelry.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Like I'll wear like um if something is dirty, like my hands will start swelling up, you know what I mean?
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: So like I noticed that when I was little, like it happened to me when I was little, and I ever since then I'm very cautious.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: So it's like having some a product like this is like it's absolutely a staple, you know, at this point, because you have to have something you can trust.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: And I know there's a lot of people out there that might be able to relate to that, you know.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: It's like if you touch, you know what I mean?
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Like allergens, for example.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: No, you know, it was funny you say that because prior to creating diamond drunk, I was using one of those traditional jewelry cleaners that we all get off of Amazon or at the hardware store.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: And the my cuticles and fingers were always bothering me and they were very dry, and it was just something that I had just thought was a part of my new life.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: And when I stopped using those harsh ingredients and I started work using Diamond Drunk, my I it all went away.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh my gosh, I've been dipping my fingers in formaldehyde, alcohol, ammonia on a daily basis, and I didn't even stop to think about what that was doing to my skin.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: So I get it.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: That's I love that though.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: I love that you've created this because I think it's like one of those products like that when you like for everyone listening out there, once you try it, you're gonna be hooked.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Like literally, like you're never gonna think about not having it again because you don't understand like how bad you need it till you have it, because you might be wearing just normal jewelry, everyday jewelry, and you're not thinking about it.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: But once you see it cleaned properly and it's like just it looks beautiful, it feels good, you know.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: You're not, you know, feeling you just immediately get hooked.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: And it's like, I feel like that's such a running theme in your brands, Jared.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: You know, you guys have just you're so good at creating, like I said, you know, these like wonderful brands that are not just amazing, but they fill a real need in the consumer's life.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Like that's huge to me, you know, at the end of the day.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: I appreciate that.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: And it's so funny that you say that.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: On if you go on diamonddrunk.com or on our social media, diamonddrunk, a lot of customers have been uploading videos and they're so grossed out at what they thought was clean jewelry.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: They've been wearing it daily.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: And and the the you know, our our our our liquid goes in clear.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: And after one um submerging of their of their favorite ring or their bracelet, it's grayish black, and they're you know, it's so funny just it's it's so enlightening and also funny to see them gross themselves out by, oh my god, you know, and so many of our um shoppers have been buying our kit, our diamond drunk kit, but also buying extra concentrates because they I think by seeing those videos, they know they're gonna need a new concentrate rather quickly because the you know their first clean or two is gonna make the fluid so dirty, and it's kind of a fun, weird science experiment, but it's enlightening.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: And there's like, yeah, there is some sort of like um, you know, you get like satisfaction seeing things cleaned.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know if anyone else is like that, but I like I'm one of those people like when I start seeing things get like cleaner, I'm like, oh, this is really nice.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Exactly, exactly.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: No, I want to I want to actually pivot into talking about um your next project, which is Polite Society.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: If you could tell us about that, and I know you guys have an amazing collab with Madonna, and I would love to learn all the details behind the brand and behind the collab.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Well, Polite Society is is so exciting.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: It's a completely clean, disruptive, um, rebellious, glamorous, artistic quality, you know, beauty brand that that really speaks to my aesthetic.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, every product in there is a wow.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: And for me, the clean beauty category is fabulous and wonderful, but it really didn't speak to my aesthetic.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: It tends to be more sheer, more of a natural look.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, girl, where's like the medium full coverage foundation?
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Where's those lashes that are just gonna like like be thick, lush, you know, long, lifted for 12 hours or more?
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Where's that lip leper that's gonna blow your lips and your mind up to the next level?
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: You know, stuff that just has the wow.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: So I wanted to create a brand that was really gonna not only meet and exceed an you know, a makeup junkie's expectations, but that's also gonna be filled with really efficacious, good-for-your ingredients that will leave your lashes, your lips, your skin better for it, better for having it than not having it, which is a real interesting concept within our industry.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Um, like our mascaras called Greatest Lashes of All Time.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: We call gloat.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: And I wanted to put out there a challenge because I'm known for making some revolutionary mascaras.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: So I I thought let me take a clean approach.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: So it's 83% natural origin.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: It is going to give you the lushest, thickest, longest, most lifted lashes of your life.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: And I wanted to kind of name it a name that would almost challenge you.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: So it's called Greatest Lashes of All Time, a clean formula.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: Vegan, of course, cruelty-free, all the good stuff.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: But I and on the packaging, you'll see there's a before and after photo that shows the results.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Well, that was taken on a phone.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: So instead of using a fancy photographer or any special special effects lighting, we really wanted to take transparency to the next level and really show you these are the results you're going to get by taking a selfie or by posting to your social media.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: These results are real.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: So oh my God, I love that.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: No mascarigate then.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Of course, I'm known for lip plumper.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: So Big Mouth is our next lip plumper again.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Totally clean.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: You'll see the before and afters are going to blow your mind, take in with the phone.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: But it's going to blow your lips up to the next level.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Like if you're somebody who doesn't want to feel the tingle, or you're like, I, you know, I don't really like lip plumpers, you're going to hate it.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: But if you're somebody who wants big, luscious, kissable, juicy, glossy, hydrated lips, you're going to love it.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: And we say it hurts so good.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: So get ready for a little shabam, but you're going to love it.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I cannot wait to like just see all the raving reviews about it because I mean, honestly, like lip plumpers are hit or miss.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like you really have to like go with the right one, at least for me.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, your lips can look lopsided if it's not the same.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: I know every trick there is.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: I know every trick, every lever to pull.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: I know how that works inside and out.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Honey, I invented that game.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: So I think you're going to love Big Mouth.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: And then, you know, we have a beautiful foundation called More Than a Pretty Face.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And I wanted to create uh a skincare meets makeup hybrid.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: So you get medium to full coverage, which is what we love, a beautiful natural glow.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: But the longer you use the foundation, the less you need.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Meaning, this, which is again an interesting concept for a makeup brand, right?
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: But we've got natural formosalicylic acid in there to keep your skin decongested and clear and bright with willow bark, niacinamide, vegan hyaluronic, all the good stuff.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: But you know, it's actually better for your skin to have on it than not have on it, which is a crazy concept.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: But again, and you get killer coverage.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: So it's just everything I love about beauty taking a really great, you know, skin first, planet first uh approach.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: But also the brand itself, Polite Society, is really about again looking for the best in each other.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: If you're looking for trouble, you want to say something nasty and come out, you know, come at us in like a really negative way, baby, go shop somewhere else.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Of course, if you have something, you know, legitimate and critical to say, I want to hear it.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: But there was a difference between hate and being, you know, authentically critical or or having an opinion.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: If you know, we we're all looking for the best in each other and using the vehicle of beauty to unite us and lift us all up.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: And hopefully together we'll start celebrating life again and making this world a better place and stop making it so heavy and so intimidating, you know?
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I love what you said.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: And I also wanted to say I love the packaging.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: I am definitely loving the packaging as usual.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: You have a knack for packaging too.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: I feel like everything is so beautiful.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Can you can you see me on the on the okay?
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: So you'll see everything has a bit of an oval or an egg shape to it.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: So not only roll off your counter, it feels erg ergonomic in the hand, but eggs uh and ovals are are uh a symbol of new life and new beginnings, and that's exactly what I'm living.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: And I just wanted to put that out in a very modern, um, very emotional way.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: Like you just like the foundation, you don't want to put it down, it's like a river rock in your hand.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: You just want to spin it, you know.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Um it all just looks so pretty.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: And I had this new face palette called Go Flush Yourself, which of course I had to bring color out.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: And it was inspired by I live on the beach, and at sunset, the world is bathed in this beautiful peachy pink, golden light that makes everybody look great.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, that's gorgeous!
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, it's golden hour in a compact baby, and it's gonna look great on every skin tone, every age.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: I don't care what lip you're wearing, three black and one highland.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm gonna be posting this video by the way for everyone listening.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna see everything.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: This is so beautiful.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: I literally I kept taking the products outside because I live on a cliff overlooking the ocean in California, and I would try to like put it on and match that beautiful golden undertone, that apricot undertone that the world is bathed in, a touch of pink, a touch of peach, you know, and it really is kind of sunset in a compact.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: And I think that you'll love it.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's like the blush palette of my dreams right there.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Like, literally, like it's so gorgeous.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: And you know, that apricot color right there, that is so gorgeous on darker skin tones.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Yes, I haven't seen a single person with a darker skin tone wear that and not look amazing.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Like, I cannot wait to try that.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, bro.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: And the are creamy, they're powered, you know, they they they're softly diffused, they wear forever, they're clean.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, there's nothing bad at it.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: And you'll see on the also on the back of our packaging, we have a list of love ingredients and a list of no ingredients.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: And those ingredients also have personality traits.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: So uh on our no list, there's parabens, trolls, talc, mineral oil, haters, bigotry.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: So we find, you know, personality traits just as toxic or more toxic than some toxic ingredients.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: So we want to create a world where we're not just putting good things on our skin and in our bodies, but we're putting great things in our heart and in our minds and just hopeful, hopefully, you know, elevating everything.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: I love that so much.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Like, I can't tell you how needed that is.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, that is like, you know, every day I literally look, you know, we all do this, right?
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, we look around and we see this world, and it's like, you know, you have the people that you really, really care about and they're good to you.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: But there, how many people do you know that are just out there spreading hate and stuff?
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: And it makes you wonder like, why are people so miserable?
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: And so when I look at things like beauty and like, you know, this idea of bringing items and products into people's lives, it I can't help but wonder, like, if it makes someone happier to have like the right, you know, makeup or the right thing that they use that day that's gonna make them a little bit happier, like that's going to spread more positivity than anything else at the end of the day.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: So the way you see yourself in the mirror affects the way you feel about yourself inside.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: And when you feel better, not only do you treat yourself better, but you treat those around you better.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: And when you know you're going out into the world in a brand that shares your same, you know, love that your heart connects to, you feel differently.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: And when you take out that mascara or you put on that lip plumper, you feel like you're a part of something bigger than just a lip plumper or a beauty product.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: It's a movement.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: And together, together, we're gonna change the world for the better.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: We're gonna add lightness and love into the world through the love and shared joy of beauty, through the most efficacious kick-ass products.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: And we're gonna make this world a better place for all of us.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: I am so behind you with that.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: And I think that that is something that we can never have enough of, honestly.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Like it's it's just so needed, you know, especially right now in the times we live in.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, I feel like every year it just keeps getting like harder and harder, you know what I mean, to find your grounding space in this world.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: And I feel like things like makeup, like I know for me, like I resonate so much with what you said, Jared, because for me, when I take time to do my makeup and you know, whatever it is, like whether it's like minimal makeup or the full glam look, like that's time for me.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: And when I like exactly what you said, like when I look in the mirror and I like the way I look, I'm gonna treat everybody just as amazing as I feel, you know, at the end of the day.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: I really am.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: It's just it's automatic, you know, it's human nature, it's wired into us.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: And so for you to really speak on that and to tap into that with your creativity and your vision for your brands is it's phenomenal.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: And I wish like more people really understood that, you know, being an entrepreneur is more than just creating products, it's make it changing the world, you know.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: So that's huge, you know.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: You know, the most successful people I know are not motivated by money, they're motivated by success and getting their message out.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: And money follows, believe me.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying money's not part, I'm not saying that, but it can't drive you.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: It can't, money cannot be the only driver, otherwise, you're a banker or a private equity guy.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Who wants to be one of those?
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: So I'm just kidding.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: But you know what I mean?
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: And so, as an artist, you know, you just want to put your heart out there.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: And and I I want to create a movement through polite society where we are looking for the best in each other and we are not gonna tolerate hate or bad behavior or people just waiting for us to god forbid slip up or say the wrong word and come attack.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: No, we're gonna leave space and grace for everyone to be who they are, to learn from who we are, and hopefully, you know, lift one another up.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: If if somebody doesn't want to be nice or somebody wants to be a jerk, then we're gonna leave you behind.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna destroy you, we're just gonna leave you behind.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: And hopefully you'll catch up.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: You know, we're gonna move forward in positively, and that's what polite society is about.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Well, I love that.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: I think that that's there's nothing wrong with actually like embracing that either, you know.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Like for all of us out here, like, you know, if you're a good person, if you're trying to like, you know, go about your day in a good way and be nice to people, be kind to others, and then you know, you just have a ton of negativity around you, like it makes you just it makes you miserable.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: It brings like negativity and just poison into your life.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: We're all over it.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: And you you see with the success of Taylor Swift and her tour, that is a movement of love, that is a movement of togetherness.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: You know, there are grandmas there with their grandchild and their moms and their gay brother, and they just it's a it's just a community of love and of just a common, you know, um, appreciation for the kindness and the power of kindness, the power of positivity.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: You know, polite society, we have we have a tagline, polite as fuck.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: We're coming at you with aggressive love and positivity, and we're gonna knock you over with our light because we the world needs it, you know?
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: And I mean it's a universal language at the end of the day.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, like, how many people do you know that don't respond to positivity and kindness and love?
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's no, I don't know anybody, you know, so it's like it's it's mind over matter, you know.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: And I feel like, you know, even from my perspective, Jared, like, you know, in like having seen patients, having seen people in like terminal, you know, you know, parts of their life, like it's like crazy to me sometimes because you'll see someone immediately change, you know, based on like what's around them.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: Like, wait, if you bring light and happiness into their life, and I I want to actually, you know, share the story with you because it was so powerful for me.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: It was like, I think my first year of like residency training, and I remember this so clearly because the patient I was working with was a cancer patient, and the per and their family had brought like you know, actual makeup and like things to help them feel better, right?
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: They were just somebody that enjoyed, you know, doing their makeup every day.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: And I remember seeing this patient and they were, you know, getting ready.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: You know, their family was just, you know, like playing with them, you know, talking to them, laughing, and their whole everything, persona, lit up.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: And that was, I think, the first time I realized that it's not about just a mindset that it's like, you know, talk and words, it's real.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: It it resonated with every cell in your body, you know what I mean?
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: Like this idea of being happy and you know what I mean.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: So it's like it's huge.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: And and I love that you guys have built that and weaved that into your DNA with these brands.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's it's so, so huge.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: So really hats off to you because we need to be able to do that.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: And thank you for doing what you do and and being privileged to see somebody in such a vulnerable, precious state, and to see the power of what beauty can do.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: And it really is just about self-love and confidence and joy.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: It's not about being perfect or looking like any other anyone else, like looking like a celebrity.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: No, it's feeling your best in your skin, feeling pretty, feeling confident, and feeling loved.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: And that is what it beauty is to me, and that's why I'm doing this again.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: I can't well, I'm I'm just so happy that you're doing it.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: And I I know it's gonna be a raving success as it should be, but I want to learn also about the collab with Madonna.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, how did that even happen?
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, did you know you wanted to do that from the get-go?
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Or I mean, how did that come about?
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: She's a friend of mine, and we were sitting on her couch eating popcorn at her house, and she was talking about her tour, and it's the first greatest hits tour she's ever done, which is so exciting.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: And so I was like, girl, you need to bring back that that blonde ambition red from your tour in the 90s.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh, oh, and that who's that girl highlighter?
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: What were you wearing?
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: And I was just telling her, like, bring these products out.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Like, you should sell them where you sell t-shirts, you know.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: And I was like, your fans will love it.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: And um, she was just like, she was like laughing.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: She's like, you do it.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, I'll do it.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: So together we created um these incredible products.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: There's a lip and there's a uh like a virgin lip plumper.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: We've got her blonde ambition, red lipstick, uh uh, who's that girl highlighter?
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: Anyway, and they come packaged in these really beautiful like cross boxes that you can wear.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: Can you will you grab one for me?
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: I'd love to show you.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, I want to see them.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're really, really cool.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: So at a concert, you know, when you buy merch, they don't give you a bag.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: So you're like, what do I do with it?
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: So I was like, let's put these on strings so you can actually wear them around your neck, like uh, you know, like like a necklace.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: And also they're like super collectible.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: So we went through the archives and created that same red lip in a modern, beautiful texture.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: They're all made in Italy.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: Of course, she had to have the best.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, uh it's just a really fun, uh, it's a fun collection.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: And you can buy it at her tour if you, you know, or or I think on Madonna.com when she launches her tour.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: Um, so next to the t-shirts and things, you can buy the the makeup that she's wearing on stage, and that was kind of she made iconic through the years.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: That is so, so, so amazing.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: I cannot wait to see it because honestly, like the idea of Madonna being related to your products, and then you know, like having that synergy come together, that's so epic.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Like, I am so excited for this.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: She's amazing.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: I've known her for years, and she's just one of the most creative, funny.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, thanks.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Um, just just a most amazing people I've ever ever met, and she's just such an inspiration to me.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: So these are the boxes.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: So you'll see this is this is the this is the box that the blonde ambition tour red lipstick comes in.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: And that's so cute.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Component.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: So you'll see it's very Madonna, circa like the 90s and stuff.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, that is the perfect red.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, that is yes, and it's so collectible, you know, it's got these really cool look.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, the like a virgin lip plumper is in this one.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: You'll see you can wear these around your neck, and it's just fabulous.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: And this is the lip plumper here, and it has the Madonna metallic label in her cross M.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: And then of course it's got your creative genius all over it, so it's gonna be oh my gosh.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: This is the who's that girl highlighter, and you open it up, and this is a beautiful champagne pinky highlighter that was inspired by the film and the tour.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: So it's just it's just a fun.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: There's a purse compact, and does the celebration for a mirror, so it's just a really fun, really collectible uh collection made by somebody who who loves her and knows her.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: And you'll see on the boxes, it's another little fun.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: It says created by Madonna created by Jared Blendino from Madonna.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: So it was just oh my gosh, oh, I love that.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: That is so cool.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that is the coolest.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, that is who does not love Madonna and who does not love your products?
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, this is this had to happen.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: It had to happen.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: It had to happen.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: Thank you so so much.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: So will she, I'll tell you that.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: No, my gosh, yes, huge, huge love, you know, shout out and so much love to Madonna.
- 37:39SPEAKER_00: I've been a fan forever, literally.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: I think all of us have.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: I mean, she's better in real life than you can even imagine.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you that.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: And that almost never happens, especially with the wow, yeah.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: No, I love that you're doing this though, because I feel like right now, like especially with Gen Z, I look at you know, the music that they're following, and it's all of the music, like I'm a millennial, and I, you know, all the music I grew up listening, they're listening to, and I'm like, yes, good music for the win, you know.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: So I love that Madonna's, you know, all over this collab.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: And I love that you guys are doing this.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: And I mean, the products all look so phenomenal, Jared.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: This I'm just so excited.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: Thank you for having me.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: Thank you for being so kind and so supportive.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: And I just and I think what you do is amazing.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: So thank you for helping, really helping people, uh, you know, and and making this world a better place through what you do and through your your you know, your amazing activity.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's just I love doing it.
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: And it I pe you know, guests like you are why I do it, you know, honestly, because this is so inspiring for me, you know, to to have someone so amazing and such a visionary, you know, to talk to and to to learn from.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, I the thing is like, you know, I really want to ask you though, there's a question I've been really meaning to ask you, and that's really about what was the most intellectually complex project you ever worked on, like to date, if you were to pick one, like would does something stand out for you or um oh my gosh, you know, just really, oh gosh, it's um I think when I was putting together Polite Society, because I did I wanted it to be a vehicle to create change, positive change in the world.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: I really I I you know, I really thought and thought and thought about how I in my own little insignificant way could help bring light and positivity and love back into the world.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: So I've been very specific about words I use, about colors I use, about the shape of components I use to make everything feel emotional.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: And I had to intellectually process that to connect my brain and my heart on a level that I haven't really had to before.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: So I would probably say polite society.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, it makes sense, you know, because of the passion that you displayed here, just explaining the products to us.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, that makes sense.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: And I I was just wondering, I was so curious because when I was like looking at all the work you've done and the beautiful products, I was like, gosh, I wonder if he ever like had a moment where he was like stuck intellectually, you know, like where do I go with this?
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: I never feel stuck, but sometimes I feel I have to be more present there.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: I, you know, sometimes it's just creative and it's just fun and it's just and then there's sometimes where I'm like, this is bigger than that idea.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: How do we hide the magic in there so you feel it when you're using it?
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: It might just look like a mascara, but there's so much more in there, and I do believe people feel that, you know?
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: And I I think you know, that really shows because I mean, obviously your track record, but also like everything you've shared with us here today.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's really true words of wisdom.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, I want to round out the interview with you sharing some advice with all these budding entrepreneurs out here.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, every time I go on TikTok, Jared, I see a new person saying, I want to be a brand founder, you know what I mean, or they want to create something.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: And I would love for you to offer your advice or any wisdom you have for them.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Well, first of all I would just ask you to ask yourself why?
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: What can you bring that's unique and different?
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: And make sure you bring that and everything you've done in your life to get you to this point that's made you successful, that's made you happy, bring all of that to your vision of creating a new brand or whatever it is that you want to do, bring all of that to the game because it's brought you to where you are, and now it's time to show it, it's time to use it, it's time to be it.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: So just just as you move through and you know, you want to make your dream become a reality.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: It's not it's not easy, but nothing great comes from easy, so it shouldn't be.
- 41:33SPEAKER_01: Um, just bring all the unique magic that only you can bring to the game, create something so special and so you that it has a heartbeat and you're you're the heartbeat.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: And when it goes out into the world, people can feel that heartbeat because it's your perspective, it's your unique vision of that product, of that purpose, of that moment.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: And that's how you create something meaningful.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: That's that's such good advice.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: And I hope for everyone listening out there, like you really, you know, just pay attention and pay heed to that advice because I I love that and I can't agree more.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: You know, I think that you really do have to know what you want to do.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: And you know, there's so many people out here I know right now that want to be entrepreneurs and brand founders.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: So thank you so much, Jared.

- 42:46SPEAKER_00: That's it, that's it.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: So and and the new makeup line looks absolutely phenomenal too, Jared.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I can't wait.
