- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonnya
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. OK, I apologize for
- 0:13Speaker 1: starting the show a little bit late today, but you're
- 0:15Speaker 1: gonna laugh when you find out the reason why I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: moving extra slowly today. It it's almost as if karma
- 0:23Speaker 1: has hit me for laughing at Sonia a few weeks ago.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Details soon. Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: This man was just here in Singapore a few days ago,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and he sold out the entire concert venue, close to
- 0:39Speaker 1: 7 to 800 people packed out over at Su Chou
- 0:42Speaker 1: Building to watch Hanumankind perform for the very first time
- 0:47Speaker 1: in Singapore. And of course, he was joined by our
- 0:49Speaker 1: very own young Raja. So please take a bow to Hanumankind.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Recovering from a torn ACL if I'm not wrong. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: was hoping to interview this man, but I'm guessing he
- 1:02Speaker 1: has a packed schedule. So the next time he's back
- 1:05Speaker 1: in Singapore, hopefully a bigger venue, and we can have
- 1:08Speaker 1: him here on 987 or we go to him and
- 1:10Speaker 1: have a chat with Macha, as I call him. Yes,
- 1:13Speaker 1: he is from India. That said though, it's Joakim Gomez
- 1:16Speaker 1: keeping you company right here on the shock circuit. Today,
- 1:19Speaker 1: it's the final day we're playing for.
- 1:21Speaker 1: The Lime restaurant dining experience and not forgetting your final
- 1:25Speaker 1: chance to win a Singtel grab bag. So for Singtel
- 1:29Speaker 1: grab bag magic, that game is happening at just past
- 1:32Speaker 1: 7:00 a.m. If you're in the car on the way
- 1:34Speaker 1: to work or school, I'll let you chuckle at me. So, um,
- 1:38Speaker 1: tomorrow is a very big day for our darling Sonia Chew.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It's a wedding day, and for the wedding night, I'm
- 1:45Speaker 1: the wedding MC.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And I'm very happy that I am. I told her
- 1:49Speaker 1: a long time ago, look, I'll feel more of use
- 1:52Speaker 1: on the microphone for you than sitting down and making
- 1:56Speaker 1: friends and doing absolutely nothing. So thankfully, she's given me
- 2:00Speaker 1: the job and yeah, you would think all would be
- 2:02Speaker 1: well for me, just, you know, another day and celebrating
- 2:06Speaker 1: a good friend, but no. Yesterday, I went running with
- 2:10Speaker 1: one of our mutual friends who's back from the US.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Hello patient, and 2 came in.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And this is a message to all fellow runners here
- 2:18Speaker 1: in Singapore, be extra careful of loose drain covers or
- 2:25Speaker 1: loose pavement covers. I don't know how to describe this.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I was running by the um
- 2:33Speaker 1: What's the residences before DBS, the DBS building going into
- 2:37Speaker 1: the Marina Bay area? Yeah, it's around that area and
- 2:40Speaker 1: all of a sudden at the 2 p.m. mark, I
- 2:44Speaker 1: ran over a loose drain cover without knowing that it
- 2:47Speaker 1: was loose, rolled over my ankle.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And I now have a sprained right ankle. So thankfully
- 2:57Speaker 1: the ankle bone and all is OK. It's just, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: when you sprain an ankle, the swelling happens the day before,
- 3:01Speaker 1: the day after. So yeah, I'm now walking with a limp,
- 3:06Speaker 1: and this is karma for me because a few weeks ago,
- 3:09Speaker 1: Sonia shared on air that she sprained her ankle playing
- 3:12Speaker 1: paddle and there I was going ha ha low low
- 3:14Speaker 1: low low, and now
- 3:18Speaker 1: Oh, so tomorrow, if you see me limping in videos
- 3:22Speaker 1: or Insta stories, now you know why. Yeah. And again,
- 3:25Speaker 1: be extra careful when running or walking, especially on those
- 3:29Speaker 1: loose drain covers. Hey, yay. Opal Light right here on 987,
- 3:32Speaker 1: your number one hit music station. Joakim Gomez is here
- 3:35Speaker 1: with you and Taylor also getting married this year.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I don't know what date or when, but knowing Taylor Swift,
- 3:43Speaker 1: she'll usually do it first, then she would tell her
- 3:46Speaker 1: millions of fans worldwide and even here in Singapore as well. So, OK.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Call us right now, 669-119-87. Give your school or classmate
- 3:56Speaker 1: a shout out and we would love to play you
- 3:59Speaker 1: your or their favorite song live right here on the
- 4:02Speaker 1: shock circuit. I wonder what school will get today on
- 4:05Speaker 1: this Friday to wrap up the week. 987, hello, what's
- 4:08Speaker 1: your name?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Hello. Hi, I'm Sarah here.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Hello, Sarah. How is your Friday morning going for you?
- 4:15Speaker 2: It's going well, but my kids are gonna be really,
- 4:18Speaker 2: really bummed because, um, they've just been dropped off at
- 4:21Speaker 2: two different schools and, um, I'm on my way back home.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Not to worry. You know what, I'll do something special
- 4:29Speaker 1: for you. I'll pass you the recording of this call
- 4:31Speaker 1: and you can play it for your kids and say, hey,
- 4:33Speaker 1: mommy was on 987, and you can score some cool
- 4:36Speaker 1: points with them. So which school did you drop them
- 4:38Speaker 1: off at?
- 4:39Speaker 2: All right, so I've got two schools. My son's in
- 4:41Speaker 2: P6 at Saint Stephen's School, and my daughter is in
- 4:45Speaker 2: P1 at CHIJ Katong. And I know that I have
- 4:49Speaker 2: to tell you this because my son will say that
- 4:51Speaker 2: his favorite thing about school is football and getting muddy
- 4:55Speaker 2: and dirty, and my daughter is basically just hula hooping.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Um, all, all the day, um, before and after school
- 5:03Speaker 2: and at recess, so yeah, they're loving school.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So two complete opposites, and I can relate a lot
- 5:08Speaker 1: to your son because, yeah, my mom, she would go
- 5:11Speaker 1: crazy whenever I come back because my school uniform was white,
- 5:14Speaker 1: white and green, but my shirt would be all dirty
- 5:17Speaker 1: with mud and my shoes will be dirty with mud
- 5:18Speaker 1: as well. So how, how, how often do you clean
- 5:21Speaker 1: the shoes for your son, poor thing.
- 5:23Speaker 2: OK, so I pop the shoes in the washing machine
- 5:26Speaker 2: every weekend and after every term I chuck out all
- 5:29Speaker 2: his socks and I buy him a whole new set
- 5:31Speaker 2: for the next term because it just makes my life
- 5:33Speaker 2: so much easier, honestly.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I can only imagine. Now, Sarah, thank you so much
- 5:38Speaker 1: for sharing and giving us these amazing stories. Any song
- 5:41Speaker 1: I can get you or for your kids, any song.
- 5:44Speaker 2: OK, so my son's gonna be going for LeFey's, um,
- 5:48Speaker 2: concert next week, so probably something from her, her biggest fan, Lu,
- 5:52Speaker 1: yeah. I hope to see him in person. I'll be
- 5:54Speaker 1: there as well. Thank you so much for your call, Sarah.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Take care, OK?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 5:57Speaker 1: We love to keep things happy, lighthearted. The banter between
- 6:01Speaker 1: Sonia and I, we hope to just put a smile
- 6:03Speaker 1: on your face every weekday morning you're tuned in to us.
- 6:06Speaker 1: But sometimes when news gets serious, especially here in Singapore,
- 6:11Speaker 1: we cannot ignore.
- 6:12Speaker 1: These things, and we want to share them with you
- 6:14Speaker 1: here on the show as well to hopefully caution you
- 6:16Speaker 1: or warn you or have you on standby should anything
- 6:20Speaker 1: like this happen to you. So, we know the world
- 6:22Speaker 1: is all kinds of crazy right now and loads of
- 6:25Speaker 1: things are happening with the Strait of Hormuz, which you've
- 6:28Speaker 1: read about plenty in the news. I don't need to
- 6:30Speaker 1: touch on that anymore, but scammers are now using real-life
- 6:34Speaker 1: events to scam victims all over the world and even
- 6:38Speaker 1: here in Singapore.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So I think for this particular scam, scammers actually used
- 6:44Speaker 1: the picture of our Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, his secretary
- 6:48Speaker 1: as well, and the scammers reached out to the victim
- 6:51Speaker 1: on WhatsApp saying, thank you for your service to Singapore.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Thank you for helping my cabinet.
- 6:56Speaker 1: You know, contribute what we can to the Strait of
- 6:59Speaker 1: Hormuz to settle this in Singapore's interest, and unfortunately for
- 7:03Speaker 1: the victim, according to news reports, the victim parted with
- 7:07Speaker 1: $4.9 million to the scammers.
- 7:13Speaker 1: which he or she might never get back. It's scary,
- 7:17Speaker 1: isn't it? And, and here's the thing, I honestly wonder
- 7:21Speaker 1: how the scammers know.
- 7:23Speaker 1: The net worth of the victims they are scamming because
- 7:26Speaker 1: in the news, as of late, whenever I read about
- 7:28Speaker 1: scam news, people are losing hundreds of thousands and even
- 7:33Speaker 1: to the millions. So please be extra careful that there
- 7:35Speaker 1: is absolutely no reason why Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and
- 7:40Speaker 1: his secretary should contact you via WhatsApp. There is, there
- 7:43Speaker 1: is no
- 7:44Speaker 1: All of us do not belong to that class of people. So,
- 7:47Speaker 1: if you receive a WhatsApp from PM. Wong, just, just
- 7:50Speaker 1: block the scammer immediately, OK? Please, don't get scammed and
- 7:55Speaker 1: stay vigilant. Tell your parents, tell your friends. I'm gonna
- 7:58Speaker 1: stand up here live in the studio because we're now
- 8:00Speaker 1: gonna play Singtel grab Back Magic. It's your final chance
- 8:04Speaker 1: to walk away with the.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Last grab bag here on 987. So, 669-11987. Call us
- 8:12Speaker 1: if you missed the game explanation earlier. Not to worry,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'll walk you through it when you get through the
- 8:18Speaker 1: phone line. So please do so. Again, call us now, 669-11987.
- 8:23Speaker 1: All the best to you. 987. Hello, good morning. What's
- 8:26Speaker 1: your name?
- 8:28Speaker 2: My name is Nur. Hello,
- 8:30Speaker 1: Nurul. How's your Friday going for you so far?
- 8:33Speaker 2: Um, it's doing well because it's TGIS.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So a short day at work or usual work hours?
- 8:40Speaker 2: Actually, I'm not working today. I'm attending a conference.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Oh,
- 8:44Speaker 1: fantastic. Attend a conference and hopefully you can claim your
- 8:47Speaker 1: all in lie or whatsoever. So Nurul, are you ready
- 8:50Speaker 1: to play Singtel grab bag magic? Yes, she is. OK,
- 8:54Speaker 1: so I'll give you three clues pertaining to the total
- 8:57Speaker 1: value of the bag. Then I'll give you two options.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You pick the one that makes most sense to you, OK?
- 9:03Speaker 1: OK, sure. Here are your clues. Nurul, clue number 1,
- 9:08Speaker 1: with regard to the total value of the bag, it's
- 9:11Speaker 1: roughly 3 months of groceries for 1 person, OK? Your
- 9:17Speaker 1: second clue, it's about 60 hawker meals, 60 hawker meals.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And your third clue, that's about a return flight to
- 9:27Speaker 1: Bangkok on sale.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So, here are your options. Is your Grab bag worth
- 9:34Speaker 1: $700 or is it worth $267.90? A or B?
- 9:42Speaker 2: B $267.90.
- 9:45Speaker 1: OK, explain your calculations. Why is the answer B?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Um, I don't think that a return flight to Bangkok
- 9:52Speaker 2: would cost $700. Um, so I use that as a clue,
- 9:57Speaker 2: and the hawker meals, uh, I think $700 is a
- 10:00Speaker 2: bit too pricey. It's
- 10:01Speaker 2: supposed to be on the lower
- 10:02Speaker 1: side. OK, lah. I mean for the hawker meals, if
- 10:04Speaker 1: you're having fish, then maybe it might be $700 but
- 10:07Speaker 1: you know what, Nurul, you are absolutely right. Well done.
- 10:12Speaker 2: me.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Walking away with the final Singtel grab bag magic. OK, Nuru,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna capo now and reach into the bag and
- 10:19Speaker 1: see what you've won, OK? OK. All right, you've won
- 10:23Speaker 1: for yourself a Samsung Charger Duo worth $149.90. You've won
- 10:29Speaker 1: a Samsung Travel adapter worth $59 and you've won yourself
- 10:34Speaker 1: a ninja thirsty tumbler worth $59 as well. Congratulations.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Thank you. While scrolling through the news last night and
- 10:45Speaker 1: this morning, and loads of things happening here in Singapore,
- 10:49Speaker 1: we've got policemen about to be using the Ironman jetpack.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Have you seen the video yet? While watching the video,
- 10:55Speaker 1: I was going to, I was thinking to myself, hey,
- 10:57Speaker 1: can I try that?
- 11:02Speaker 1: SPF, uh, Ministry of Home Affairs, we're doing content around
- 11:05Speaker 1: the Ironman jetpack. Can I please try it? It looks fun,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but of course, it's, it's meant to keep Singapore safe
- 11:10Speaker 1: and all that, but maybe in 15 years down the road,
- 11:14Speaker 1: there could be like a public version of it which
- 11:16Speaker 1: we can all try to levitate over water and feel
- 11:19Speaker 1: like Iron Man or a Star Wars clone trooper with
- 11:22Speaker 1: a jetpack. But when we come back, July 12th is
- 11:26Speaker 1: the date to mark down on your calendars, especially if
- 11:30Speaker 1: you're a trained enthusias.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Enthusiasts here in Singapore. And OK, maybe train enthusiasts will
- 11:36Speaker 1: be excited about this one here in Singapore because July
- 11:39Speaker 1: 12th will be the official opening of three new Circle
- 11:44Speaker 1: Line stations. We're talking Keppel, Cantonment, as well as Prince Edward,
- 11:48Speaker 1: which means Harborfront and Marina Bay will finally be linked,
- 11:52Speaker 1: and the Circle Line will now be in, in its
- 11:55Speaker 1: own way, a complete circle. And here's giving you some
- 11:58Speaker 1: trivia in case it ever comes up on some local
- 12:00Speaker 1: pub quiz or whatsoever.
- 12:02Speaker 1: The circle line is now 39 kilometers long with the
- 12:06Speaker 1: inclusion of the three new stations and a total of
- 12:09Speaker 1: 33 stations. If you want to go in Capo, I
- 12:13Speaker 1: think I will as well. July 4th, 9:30 a.m. to
- 12:17Speaker 1: 9 p.m. It's sort of like the soft opening. You
- 12:20Speaker 1: can ride to Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward, these three
- 12:24Speaker 1: stations only for free. So go on down 9:30 a.m.
- 12:28Speaker 1: to 9:00 p.m. on July 4th and more trivia coming
- 12:31Speaker 1: your way.
- 12:32Speaker 1: These three stations took seven years to complete. Construction started
- 12:36Speaker 1: in 2019 and because of COVID delayed by one year,
- 12:40Speaker 1: so yeah, 2026, July 12th, that will be the official
- 12:43Speaker 1: date of its grand opening, which means people who are
- 12:46Speaker 1: gonna buy the BTOs coming up with the Keel area, wow!
- 12:51Speaker 1: That has made bang for you if you're gonna sell
- 12:53Speaker 1: it on after your minimum occupancy period. And then, if
- 12:58Speaker 1: you work around the Shenton Way.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Area, Prince Edward will be right at your doorstep and
- 13:02Speaker 1: people staying at the Everton Park, Spottiswood Park area. And
- 13:06Speaker 1: if you want to go to the Tanjung Paga Plaza
- 13:09Speaker 1: and the cultural areas there, cantonment right at your doorstep
- 13:12Speaker 1: as well. Amazing stuff. Everything is now linked. OK, if
- 13:17Speaker 1: Sonia Chew were here.
- 13:19Speaker 1: This morning with us, when I tell this story, she
- 13:23Speaker 1: will go, aha, see, you laugh at me some more.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Now you cannot.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That that that's my best Sonia Chew impersonation of which
- 13:34Speaker 1: Plenty I'll be doing tomorrow night. So, um, I don't
- 13:37Speaker 1: know if you remember, a few weeks ago when Sonia
- 13:40Speaker 1: was playing paddle, she sprained her ankle and so she
- 13:44Speaker 1: was limping in the studio, to which I had a
- 13:47Speaker 1: field day laughing at her, calling her limp biscuit and
- 13:49Speaker 1: all that, and when she was going to the pantry,
- 13:52Speaker 1: I was like, aiyo, ayo, because every step she took,
- 13:55Speaker 1: there was a limp.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yesterday, I went running with one of our mutual friends,
- 14:00Speaker 1: hello patient, and along the Marina Way area, I forgot
- 14:03Speaker 1: what the residences was called. It's the one with the
- 14:05Speaker 1: very nice spiral way and the fountain that looks like
- 14:09Speaker 1: a fountain but it's actually plastic rods, yeah. I was
- 14:12Speaker 1: running down it. I think I didn't see a loose
- 14:14Speaker 1: drain cover or pavement cover, whatever it's called.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Ran over it, lost balance, and rolled over my ankle,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and this is just 2 km in the run. So,
- 14:26Speaker 1: just did a very slow jog and once I finished
- 14:30Speaker 1: that jog and went to do a cold plunge, the
- 14:33Speaker 1: moment I left there, I could see the swelling has
- 14:36Speaker 1: started on my right ankle. So yes, I've sprained my
- 14:40Speaker 1: right ankle. This is karma for laughing at Sonia, but
- 14:44Speaker 1: here's the thing.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I have a gig tonight and I'm emceeing Sonia's wedding tomorrow.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So I'm gonna do what I can to ice my ankle,
- 14:52Speaker 1: compress it, so that I wouldn't be walking with too
- 14:55Speaker 1: much of an obvious limp.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And I'm a bit conscious now. So, 669-119-87. Phone lines
- 15:06Speaker 1: are open, as well as you can WhatsApp us at 900509-887.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Has something ever happened to you before an important day? Really?
- 15:17Speaker 1: It could be anything at all inspired by my sprained
- 15:22Speaker 1: ankle now, so no running for a while, which I
- 15:24Speaker 1: think this weekend, totally no running plans at all because
- 15:27Speaker 1: with the amount of tequila Sonia has prepared, yeah, I
- 15:30Speaker 1: think Sunday I just wanna sleep, to be honest with you,
- 15:33Speaker 1: and then watch the menu game. So 669-11987, call us
- 15:36Speaker 1: or WhatsApp us 90050987. Has something happened to you before
- 15:41Speaker 1: a big day and how did you get around it?
- 15:43Speaker 1: If we do like your answer, what's coming your way?
- 15:47Speaker 1: A very nice lime restaurant dining experience over at Park
- 15:51Speaker 1: Royal Collection Pickering. Very nice buffet with Wagyu meats available
- 15:56Speaker 1: for you. Harvey, All or Nothing right here on 987,
- 15:59Speaker 1: your number one hit music station. Joakim Gomez is here
- 16:02Speaker 1: with you. And uh, given how sprained my ankle last night,
- 16:07Speaker 1: thankfully it's a sprain like no deformities or bone pain
- 16:09Speaker 1: or whatsoever.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And I have a gig tonight and tomorrow night I'm
- 16:13Speaker 1: emceeing Sonia's wedding. Look, even as an MC you might think,
- 16:17Speaker 1: ah yeah, it might not be important, but you gotta
- 16:18Speaker 1: walk around, talk to the guests and all that. I'm
- 16:20Speaker 1: trying my best to make sure that tomorrow I don't
- 16:23Speaker 1: walk with an obvious limp. Has anything ever happened to
- 16:27Speaker 1: you before, an important day on occasion, and how did
- 16:29Speaker 1: you get around it? If you do like your answers,
- 16:31Speaker 1: what's coming your way, of course, a very nice dining experience,
- 16:34Speaker 1: the Lime Restaurant over at Park Royal Collection Pickering.
- 16:38Speaker 1: The phone number is 669-119-87 to call us, but for WhatsApp, 90050987,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I wanna say good morning to Nurul Huda. Hello Solo Joe.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Oh yo, this is gonna be my nickname for the
- 16:53Speaker 1: next two weeks. I got food poisoning the night before
- 16:56Speaker 1: my wedding. Oh no.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Spent the whole morning praying to the porcelain throne.
- 17:04Speaker 1: But somehow made it through the ceremony smiling in every photo. Wow, Nurul,
- 17:08Speaker 1: you know what? Uh, this is one of those times
- 17:10Speaker 1: where I say fake it till you make it really applies.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Just smile and if you have to go, just run
- 17:16Speaker 1: to the nearest restroom.
- 17:17Speaker 1: One coming in from Waitta. Waita says, Hey, Joakim, 2
- 17:21Speaker 1: days before last year's marathon, I caught the flu. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: ended up running slower than planned, but honestly, the biggest
- 17:27Speaker 1: win was just finishing without collapsing. OK, fair enough. One
- 17:33Speaker 1: coming in from Erica. Erica says, the morning of my graduation,
- 17:37Speaker 1: which was quite recent, my outfit zip broke completely. Oh no.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Safety pins, double-sided tape, and blind confidence carried me through
- 17:46Speaker 1: the day.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Thank you so much for all your texts so far.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Call us over at 669-011-987. If you have anything similar
- 17:53Speaker 1: to what I'm going through right now, what's your story?
- 17:56Speaker 2: So
- 17:56Speaker 2: basically three days before my 2021 2 XU marathon, I
- 18:01Speaker 2: actually walked too close to a wall.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And then stepped on an exposed door stopper. So basically
- 18:07Speaker 2: without the rubber protection, right, it was just a tiny
- 18:10Speaker 2: metal weapon waiting for me. So being the, being the
- 18:14Speaker 2: overly competitive person I am, I still told my parents,
- 18:17Speaker 2: don't worry, I can still run.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Meanwhile, they were just staring at my foot and just like, hello,
- 18:24Speaker 2: you can't even walk properly. And by the next day
- 18:27Speaker 2: I couldn't even put weight on that foot and had
- 18:29Speaker 2: to just accept my fate. So no 21 for me
- 18:32Speaker 2: and basically just defeated by a door stopper. What,
- 18:35Speaker 1: what was it this year's 2 marathon, half marathon?
- 18:39Speaker 2: No, it was, um, a
- 18:40Speaker 2: few years back. Ah,
- 18:41Speaker 1: OK, but, but your foot's OK now. You can still
- 18:43Speaker 1: run without any pain, right?
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yes,
- 18:45Speaker 1: yeah, and whatever happened to that metal door stopper? Is
- 18:47Speaker 1: it gone or is it still there?
- 18:50Speaker 2: At least 2 there. OK, with cardboards these days.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it's giving you PTSD, but hopefully no accidents like
- 18:58Speaker 1: that anymore for you, Elise. Take care, OK? And let's go. 123,
- 19:02Speaker 1: food news. Food news. Joking with the good food news,
- 19:07Speaker 1: and OK, this one, if you love your old school snacks,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I'm talking your ice jam biscuits, the one with the pink, green, yellow, white.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Any other colors?
- 19:18Speaker 1: I think I got them all. Uh, pineapple jam, biscuits,
- 19:22Speaker 1: sugar toast squares, coconut squares. I want to tell you
- 19:25Speaker 1: the story of a single mom, originally from Indonesia. It's
- 19:29Speaker 1: 57-year-old Nelly, who she actually loved this nostalgic snack business,
- 19:35Speaker 1: and she's now turned it into not one, not two,
- 19:38Speaker 1: but 3 different stores island-wide here in Singapore. If I'm
- 19:42Speaker 1: not wrong, there's one over at Causeway Point, there's one
- 19:46Speaker 1: over at Ang Mo.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Tokyo, and now there's one over at Toa Payoh as well. Congratulations.
- 19:52Speaker 1: So if you love your old school snacks, prices start
- 19:56Speaker 1: from just $1.50 with many snacks sold by weight. So
- 20:00Speaker 1: maybe if you're having an old school themed party or
- 20:03Speaker 1: something for the kids, you want to go check out
- 20:05Speaker 1: Nelly's Retro snacks. For the Toa Payoh store, it's over
- 20:10Speaker 1: at the void deck. I'm trying to get the exact block,
- 20:12Speaker 1: but I don't really, I can't really find it.
- 20:14Speaker 1: If you see a void deck shop selling retro snacks
- 20:17Speaker 1: with a very old school mama Chop feel, yep, that
- 20:20Speaker 1: is Nelly's store. So go have a look. I wanna
- 20:22Speaker 1: go buy some snacks and maybe stock up for the
- 20:25Speaker 1: next party that we throw here. So what began as
- 20:27Speaker 1: a sign over at the Starbucks East Coast, and I quote,
- 20:31Speaker 1: from 25th of May 2026, pets will no longer be
- 20:34Speaker 1: permitted in our indoor and outdoor seating areas. This change
- 20:37Speaker 1: is part of our transition towards halal certified operations. Guide
- 20:41Speaker 1: dogs are welcome, as they should.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Thank you for understanding. People went crazy on social media.
- 20:47Speaker 1: They were like, hello, it's East Coast Park. It's been
- 20:50Speaker 1: allowed for so long. Why suddenly like this? And it
- 20:54Speaker 1: became a little bit sensitive on social media, to which
- 20:57Speaker 1: the new chapter is this Starbucks has been told by
- 21:02Speaker 1: the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, MOUIS to remove or
- 21:06Speaker 1: amend signs referring to its transition towards halal certification.
- 21:13Speaker 1: And Mos has said it hasn't received application for halal
- 21:16Speaker 1: cert from Starbucks and yeah, that's why they have to
- 21:18Speaker 1: remove or amend the signs because if, if you're not careful.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You might stir racial and religious sentiment. So these kind
- 21:27Speaker 1: of things you got to really, really be extra careful
- 21:30Speaker 1: before you display signs like that. But for now, I
- 21:33Speaker 1: think Starbucks Singapore, they've apologized for the confusion. You can
- 21:35Speaker 1: still bring your pets inside and outside of the East
- 21:38Speaker 1: Coast Park Starbucks Singapore outlet, but of course, as a
- 21:41Speaker 1: responsible pet owner, make sure you watch them carefully and
- 21:44Speaker 1: clean up if they were to make a mess around you.
- 21:47Speaker 1: But on the phone, hello, Miss Sonny Chew.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Hey, you miss me so much you made me call
- 21:54Speaker 2: you on your off day. No,
- 21:55Speaker 1: on your off day, you mean,
- 21:57Speaker 2: sorry, my off day. I'm,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I'm busy working and covering the fort here on the
- 22:00Speaker 1: short circuit. No, actually, you know what, I thought it
- 22:03Speaker 1: would have been a great idea to actually get you
- 22:05Speaker 1: on the show as the final talk before your big
- 22:07Speaker 1: day as a bit of a cap for our listeners
- 22:09Speaker 1: as well, because they are so invested and by the way,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I watched the latest episode of I do. You look
- 22:14Speaker 1: so nice in the potential dress la.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Thank you. So am I allowed to call you a
- 22:19Speaker 1: white fungus tomorrow?
- 22:21Speaker 2: Hey, you, you are there to host the dinner. Like it's, it's,
- 22:27Speaker 2: it's 80% hosting, 20% roasting, not the other way around, OK.
- 22:31Speaker 1: It's the other way around. OK, please tell us how,
- 22:35Speaker 1: how are you feeling the day before the big day
- 22:38Speaker 1: for you?
- 22:39Speaker 2: Gosh, you know, it's, it's so funny because I met
- 22:42Speaker 2: a bunch of my friends yesterday that flew in for
- 22:45Speaker 2: my wedding, right? And everyone was just crying. Like everybody's
- 22:49Speaker 2: so emotional. I got emotional messages from some of my
- 22:52Speaker 2: girlfriends this morning as well. Messages from you, you know, like,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm like wow.
- 22:57Speaker 2: My friends are really invested and I'm so touched. I,
- 23:00Speaker 2: I actually, right now, I feel more overwhelmed by love
- 23:04Speaker 2: and the things people are doing for me and offering
- 23:06Speaker 2: to do for me that is really above and beyond.
- 23:09Speaker 2: The only thing is, it's raining really heavily today. I'm
- 23:12Speaker 2: like closing my, my balcony window as we speak.
- 23:16Speaker 2: So I'm really hoping that the weather holds up
- 23:19Speaker 2: tomorrow. Yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 1: that's what I'm hoping for. I'm guessing it's gonna rain
- 23:23Speaker 1: cats and dogs. That's dry and nice.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I don't know, like the, the weather forecast seems like
- 23:29Speaker 2: this whole month is like monsoonish, you know, so we'll see,
- 23:32Speaker 2: but whatever it is, I'll take it as like showers
- 23:35Speaker 2: of blessing or
- 23:36Speaker 2: whatever.
- 23:37Speaker 1: So any last minute jitters or additions to your wedding
- 23:40Speaker 1: or wedding dress and stuff like that?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Ah, not, not really. Actually, you know, everything is pretty
- 23:45Speaker 2: much set in stone, I think. I'm still figuring out
- 23:49Speaker 2: what I wanna do for my hair and makeup, which is,
- 23:51Speaker 2: I know, very last minute, but very on brand for me.
- 23:55Speaker 2: And I'm just, I'm ready to drop it low and
- 23:57Speaker 2: party. OK,
- 23:58Speaker 1: but, but can I also ask, I mean, it's so
- 24:00Speaker 1: much about you here on 987. How's our favorite man doing?
- 24:03Speaker 1: How's Jeremy?
- 24:04Speaker 2: And he's relaxing, man. Like he's been on he's relaxing
- 24:09Speaker 2: like literally yesterday when I called him, he was like
- 24:12Speaker 2: doing all his wellness stuff and uh, but he did
- 24:15Speaker 2: send me a very sweet message this morning cause I
- 24:17Speaker 2: actually haven't seen him the past two days. We've both
- 24:20Speaker 2: been really busy running our own errands.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Um, one of my errands being packing 100 sticks of
- 24:26Speaker 2: empty hangover jelly into my luggage. Oh, can I
- 24:28Speaker 1: please have 2 or 3, thank you. Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 2: It doesn't work that way. It's just one or two. he,
- 24:34Speaker 2: he sent me a message this morning and he said, hey,
- 24:37Speaker 2: I'm in such a good mood.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Today and I was like, oh, why? And he said,
- 24:40Speaker 2: because you get to be my wife tomorrow scoring
- 24:47Speaker 1: points lah.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 2: so sweet. So
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm guessing the both of you won't be seeing each
- 24:52Speaker 1: other until tomorrow.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Ah, we'll be seeing each other later cause, you know,
- 24:56Speaker 2: I've got cousins flying in and we're doing a little
- 24:58Speaker 2: welcome drink thing later. We will still see each other.
- 25:01Speaker 2: We will, but, but we will not be staying in
- 25:03Speaker 2: the same room if that's what you're wondering.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Please keep it and don't drink too much.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, yeah, it's just, no.
- 25:12Speaker 1: So, so, so given how for the last few weeks
- 25:14Speaker 1: here on 987, this is the last thing I ask
- 25:16Speaker 1: you to do, um, anything you want to say to
- 25:19Speaker 1: our listeners who have been following us on this journey,
- 25:22Speaker 1: especially you, before you say I do tomorrow?
- 25:25Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. You know, I've never been one to
- 25:28Speaker 2: wanna share so much about my wedding, but somehow it
- 25:30Speaker 2: became that way. But I'm so grateful for the kind
- 25:34Speaker 2: of love and support our listeners have shown us. It
- 25:36Speaker 2: feels like we are all getting married collectively, you know
- 25:38Speaker 2: what I mean? I'm getting all these DMs from our listeners,
- 25:42Speaker 2: especially who follow our show very closely, saying that they
- 25:45Speaker 2: just find it so entertaining and, you know, like me
- 25:47Speaker 2: and Joe bantering about it all the time and stuff.
- 25:50Speaker 2: So I, I really am very grateful and
- 25:52Speaker 2: Um, if I could have invited all our loyal listeners,
- 25:56Speaker 2: I would.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Wow, that must go National Stadium.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Um, but I just want to say so much love
- 26:03Speaker 2: and I, I'll miss you guys in the mornings for
- 26:06Speaker 2: a couple of weeks, but I'll be back very soon
- 26:08Speaker 2: and uh thanks for the well-wishes,
- 26:09Speaker 1: yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I will stop it lah.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I'm definitely, I don't know. I think I'm definitely cry,
- 26:19Speaker 1: cry. OK, I'll see you tomorrow morning and night. OK.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Take care, darling. Bye bye.
