- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning.
- 0:29Good morning. So we have a great story to tell
- 0:33you. Well, I don't think it was great
- 0:34when it was happening, but so we want to share a bit of a funny
- 0:39story. I have a friend, a very dear
- 0:42friend here, and I was going to do a training for her team and
- 0:47we were driving how far to where we headed?
- 0:50It was about 90 miles an hour and a.
- 0:53Half, yeah, not so far, but just far enough, right.
- 0:56We So we were driving north from San Diego up to see her and we
- 1:02were very excited. Got in the car, we left, we
- 1:06stopped and got coffee. Yeah, everything was good.
- 1:09Everything was great. Not much.
- 1:11Traffic, not much traffic and, and this is a driving Miss Daisy
- 1:14situation 'cause I'm not driving, but I did claim that
- 1:17right up front that I was not going to drive out here.
- 1:19I don't like driving out here. So we got to her place, we did
- 1:25some recording, did training and then we got in the car and came.
- 1:30We went to lunch. Right.
- 1:31Yep. Then we had a lunch, a little
- 1:34shopping briefly, which is unlike both of us.
- 1:36Yes, but we did pass a shop that both our daughters absolutely
- 1:40obsess on, which I still don't understand.
- 1:43It's very floral, very smelly. It is.
- 1:45It's, it's very, very girly. Regency bows and pearls.
- 1:50Yes, it, I mean, but my daughter loves it.
- 1:53Her daughter loves it. So we had to do a little
- 1:55shopping and then we got in the car and we're heading home and
- 1:59we're just talking and we're enjoying ourselves and then tell
- 2:02them what happened. And and well, and we are
- 2:06probably about two exits from the hotel when this happened,
- 2:11maybe 3 exits at the most. At the most, we were very close.
- 2:14And all of a sudden there was this Ding.
- 2:17It was like an alert, like an alarm went off and it said
- 2:23mileage to empty 00. Zero.
- 2:29Now mind you, OK, we're both very diligent people.
- 2:33Like I have a truck and when I got my truck, I got an extended
- 2:37gas tank just because I may at some point be in a hurricane
- 2:42evacuation situation where I need to have extended gas to get
- 2:46away from it. And I can go 600 and 35 miles
- 2:50with a full tank. So I pay attention to my gas,
- 2:53but the. Problem is, is we actually
- 2:56talked about our gas habits and I told you how I every Sunday I
- 3:01go to Costco, I fill up even if I don't need gas.
- 3:04I top off every Sunday, get a car wash and that's just my
- 3:07habit. So when that happened, I was
- 3:09like, oh goodness, like this is we're going to run out of gas on
- 3:13the 15 freeway. And but anyway, we I quickly got
- 3:17over, we got off the exit. You used Waze, you found?
- 3:20The Waze, listen, Waze is a great tool for the emergencies
- 3:23like this. And those of us who are paranoid
- 3:25know you open Waze and immediately right at the top
- 3:28there's a little button that says gas because we're not the
- 3:30only people this ever happened to.
- 3:32And .2 miles goes. Like .2 miles we filled up and
- 3:37we, I mean, my heart was beating.
- 3:39We were both shocked because here's the thing, the rental car
- 3:43that we got was an Audi. Now why in God's name did it not
- 3:48tell us sooner? Why was there not an alert
- 3:51sooner? No pings, no Dings, no.
- 3:54I'm assuming that someone else who rented the car must have
- 3:57turned off alarms of some sort, but.
- 3:59Can you really? I don't know, but I mean.
- 4:01There's no way that it got to zero that fast.
- 4:04Well, it happened and meantime I feel like we're in a Seinfeld
- 4:08episode when Kramer decides to push the guy who's taking him on
- 4:12a test drive to keep going and see how far we can go on empty.
- 4:15I'm Googling while she's driving how far can an Audi quattro go
- 4:20on 0 miles in the tank? Which amazingly, it said, oh,
- 4:25anywhere from 20 to 40 miles when it says 0.
- 4:28So is it really 0 miles? Why wouldn't it just say?
- 4:31Over information is not reliable or something it's not.
- 4:34It's and it said that information is not reliable
- 4:37most. Cars give you like a 50 mile
- 4:39warning or something like that. There was no warning, it just
- 4:42went zero. Exactly My truck gives warnings
- 4:46immediately like when you get to 100 miles to empty, it comes up
- 4:51on the big screen right in front of you one 100 miles to empty
- 4:55and then 75 miles to empty 50 miles to enter.
- 4:58Now I've literally I've only seen that when Mark is driving,
- 5:01not when I'm driving because I would never let it go that way.
- 5:05But this is it was shocking that this thing didn't have an alarm
- 5:09and I found. It very interesting, like you
- 5:12said, two, you know, responsible people.
- 5:15I mean, we, we figured it out really quickly, but it was one
- 5:18of those things where the unexpected happened and we were
- 5:21so close to home and I don't know, it seems like life.
- 5:26Right, right. But that's exactly how it is.
- 5:28It's like all of a sudden you're just cruising along.
- 5:30We're talking, we're having a good time and then and we're
- 5:35like, wait, what? You went what, 0 miles to empty
- 5:39And we both were like panic. We both, but we both handled it
- 5:42well. We were in that panic mode, but
- 5:43we both handled it well. And you know, then we got gas
- 5:46and we were laughing and we were both like, OK, now we're both
- 5:49like can stop shaking because what's worse than being on a
- 5:52highway like that stuck. But this is mindset handling it
- 5:56in the moment, being cool. Like we handled it and then we
- 5:59shook and then we came down from it and we got but again.
- 6:03And now we're telling the world. Now if I was in the car alone,
- 6:05no one would know this story. But we but we have to tell the
- 6:08story because it happens to even the most of us that are most
- 6:10prepared. And and of all the people that I
- 6:13spend time with, you are one of the most prepared people, if not
- 6:16the most prepared under me because I'm always being
- 6:19prepared. So we just had to share the
- 6:21funny story with you and like, you know, Hey, you should know
- 6:24how your car gives you alarms for gas.
- 6:26That's the point of the. Story it is, so it is.
- 6:29You can laugh at our funny story today and we will see you all
- 6:32tomorrow and we will have gas in the car.
- 6:34We it's filled, it's full, we're good.
- 6:36All right, everybody have a blessed day and we'll see you
- 6:38tomorrow. Bye.
