- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on Gadigle Land Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land. Hey Chiggys, and welcome to episode
- 0:13Speaker 1: three of the Financial Glow Up the twenty twenty five Reset,
- 0:18Speaker 1: our new mini series where we're going to reset and
- 0:20Speaker 1: go up our finances in twenty twenty five. Today we're
- 0:24Speaker 1: going to be talking about your prey checklist for twenty
- 0:27Speaker 1: twenty five. This list is designed to ensure that every
- 0:30Speaker 1: purchase you make this year aligned with your goals, your values,
- 0:33Speaker 1: your budget and this episode. If you're listening on the
- 0:38Speaker 1: day of drop, today is Boxing Day, so it's a
- 0:41Speaker 1: great time to create your pre buy checklist and put
- 0:44Speaker 1: it into practice when shopping the sales mindfully and make
- 0:48Speaker 1: sure you're getting the most banned for your butt. As
- 0:51Speaker 1: usual and cheery little shout out, we have dropped our
- 0:54Speaker 1: Boxing Day sales cheat sheet with hundreds of sales all
- 0:58Speaker 1: in one place so you can compare the sales and
- 1:00Speaker 1: find exclusive deals. Plus, we're going to share a little
- 1:03Speaker 1: Master Money tip on how to make your Boxing Day
- 1:06Speaker 1: shopping ten times easier at the end of the episode.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But between the cheat sheet and you're now pre by
- 1:12Speaker 1: checklist that you'll have from listening to this episode, you'll
- 1:16Speaker 1: be set to get all the best deals and shop
- 1:18Speaker 1: with intention this boxing day. So if you do want
- 1:21Speaker 1: to get the cheat sheet, we have a link in
- 1:24Speaker 1: the description of this episode, but as always, it's in
- 1:27Speaker 1: our link in bio, on our Instagram, our TikTok, It's
- 1:30Speaker 1: in our Facebook group. It's everywhere you luck baby, you
- 1:34Speaker 1: can't miss it.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We're like have you seen it? And they're like, yes,
- 1:37Speaker 1: yes I have, and I'm like where are and I'm
- 1:40Speaker 1: like I know. Let's get into it, and let's start
- 1:43Speaker 1: with why you need a pre checklist? Tell me so,
- 1:47Speaker 1: tell me now and near tonert please answer me.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Okay, why even bother with a pre by checklist? Because
- 2:00Speaker 2: being good with money doesn't mean that you don't spend
- 2:03Speaker 2: any money at all. If anything, being super restrictive with
- 2:08Speaker 2: your money can set you up for failure, especially if
- 2:12Speaker 2: you know you're prone to doing a little retail therapy
- 2:15Speaker 2: here and then you love a good shop which moved. Yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 2: never going to judge for that, No.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Not at all.
- 2:22Speaker 2: So instead, your pre by checklist is all about being
- 2:25Speaker 2: intentional with your spending and empowering yourself to spend in
- 2:29Speaker 2: line with your money values. The purpose of the pre
- 2:32Speaker 2: By checklist is to help with three main things. Number one,
- 2:37Speaker 2: avoid emotional purchases. Number two, align your spending with your goals,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and number three, save time and money by making smarter decisions.
- 2:48Speaker 1: So, if you're ready to spend.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Smarter in twenty twenty five, which we know you are,
- 2:52Speaker 2: this checklist will be your new best friend. So grab
- 2:55Speaker 2: your pen, nice latte, and let's go step by step.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Man, you hear that. So you can obviously customize your
- 3:04Speaker 1: pre By checklists however you want. You can make it
- 3:08Speaker 1: as long or as short as you want. It's about
- 3:11Speaker 1: finding what works for you. But to make life easier,
- 3:16Speaker 1: of course, we've created one for you. So there are
- 3:20Speaker 1: eight questions that you can either use all of them
- 3:23Speaker 1: or you can use some of them. Again, it's what
- 3:25Speaker 1: kind of speaks to you. Everyone's so different, so it's
- 3:29Speaker 1: what aligns to you and the way that you spend money.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So again, you can use all of them, you can
- 3:33Speaker 1: use none of them. I hope you use some of them.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So your first one is is this purchase truly necessary?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Take a moment and think do you need this item
- 3:45Speaker 1: or is it just something you want? List three ways
- 3:49Speaker 1: it will genuinely impact your life for the better, and
- 3:52Speaker 1: do try to be as honest with yourself as possible.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Number two is does this align with my twenty twenty
- 4:00Speaker 1: five goals? This is my personal favorite out of all
- 4:03Speaker 1: eight because I think this will make every purchase and
- 4:07Speaker 1: every where you spend money super super clear, and it's
- 4:10Speaker 1: more positive. It's more about being like, how will this
- 4:13Speaker 1: bring me closer to where I want to be? And
- 4:16Speaker 1: like the bad bitch version, I want to be of
- 4:18Speaker 1: myself by the end of the year. So it's looking
- 4:20Speaker 1: at your financial and personal goals for the year, whether
- 4:23Speaker 1: it's saving for a holiday, paying off debt, or building
- 4:26Speaker 1: an emergency fun Your purchases and spending should always at
- 4:32Speaker 1: least try to have an undercurrent that leads to those goals.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And sometimes the goals won't be those either, Like it
- 4:41Speaker 1: might be about prioritizing your health and fitness, and if
- 4:44Speaker 1: that is spending money on a gym membership or a
- 4:46Speaker 1: personal trainer, that still aligns with your goals. If it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: about spending more quality time with friends, that might be
- 4:54Speaker 1: you know, going out through dinner once a month. They
- 4:57Speaker 1: don't always have to be goals that are is about
- 4:59Speaker 1: set or investing or buying a house. Even though those
- 5:02Speaker 1: are super important, making sure you have goals in a
- 5:04Speaker 1: line to fun and interest and joy are also just
- 5:08Speaker 1: as important. And then number three, do I have the
- 5:12Speaker 1: money to make this purchase? Now, this is a question
- 5:15Speaker 1: some of us we get to answer and even ask.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's a good question. It's a good question. We like
- 5:20Speaker 1: this question. She's a bit of a bitch, but she's
- 5:22Speaker 1: a good question. If you're reaching for your credit card
- 5:25Speaker 1: alone or a buy now, pay later service, take a
- 5:29Speaker 1: little bit of pause, my little baby girl. If you
- 5:32Speaker 1: don't have the money to pay for it, you probably
- 5:35Speaker 1: can't afford it. I'm sorry, don't hate me. You can
- 5:39Speaker 1: take it a step further and make it a rule
- 5:41Speaker 1: that if you can't afford to pay for it twice
- 5:44Speaker 1: with your own money, you can't afford to pay for
- 5:46Speaker 1: it at all. This is a great rule of thumb,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and I think it's really good for those really big
- 5:52Speaker 1: purchases that we're like, I'm just gonna splurch because fuck it,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and you're like, I'm like, for example, you could use
- 5:58Speaker 1: the dice in airp and you're like, sure, what I
- 5:59Speaker 1: want it, I'm going to buy. But if your times
- 6:01Speaker 1: up by two and it makes you want to throw
- 6:02Speaker 1: up into your hands and clap. You don't want it,
- 6:05Speaker 1: You don't want to not that bad. Number four? Do
- 6:11Speaker 1: I already have something that serves this purpose? Before you
- 6:13Speaker 1: buy a new makeup product? Have you used every last
- 6:17Speaker 1: drop of the one you already have? Do you already
- 6:21Speaker 1: own a pair of blue jeans? This one was a
- 6:23Speaker 1: targeted attack question. Could you save time and money by
- 6:27Speaker 1: cooking a meal at home instead of waiting forty minutes
- 6:30Speaker 1: and paying seventy two billion dollars for a meal just
- 6:34Speaker 1: to arrive cold and strewn across the box in the bank.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Regularly taking stock of your cosmetics, clothes, and home wears
- 6:41Speaker 1: can help you take stock of what you actually need.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And the new year is a great time to do this.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I call this my new year restock or a new
- 6:49Speaker 1: stock take. Yeah, And I write a little list of
- 6:53Speaker 1: all the stuff that like is either falling apart or
- 6:55Speaker 1: I need or it's broken. And I think as well
- 6:58Speaker 1: when you write like your new Year stock take. And
- 7:00Speaker 1: then I kind of shop in black Fridays, I mean
- 7:02Speaker 1: not Black Friday boxing day sales. I realize how much
- 7:05Speaker 1: I actually don't need it's a very limited list, and
- 7:08Speaker 1: it's good because.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I say money, yeah, and you spend money on things
- 7:12Speaker 2: that you actually need, yes, and will help improve your life.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It's crazy, guys. Can you believe it? We're breaking the internet? Okay?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Number five? Have I got the best deal?
- 7:24Speaker 2: Compare prices, read reviews, and ensure you're getting the best
- 7:27Speaker 2: value for your money. Have you checked if you can
- 7:30Speaker 2: get cash back, earn frequent flyer points, or do they
- 7:33Speaker 2: have a best price guarantee during sale events like Boxing Day?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Make sure you're using our two Broke Chicks Sales cheat
- 7:41Speaker 2: sheet that we mentioned earlier to compare hundreds of sales
- 7:44Speaker 2: in one place. Plus, you can get access to exclusive
- 7:48Speaker 2: deals that you can't find anywhere else but in the
- 7:51Speaker 2: cheat sheet. Number six, will this bring me lasting value
- 7:55Speaker 2: or joy? Ask yourself if this purchase will still matter
- 7:59Speaker 2: to you in a month, or six months or a year.
- 8:02Speaker 2: If not, you may want to reconsider.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I feel like that question really would help with trending
- 8:07Speaker 1: items as well. Fully, Yeah, where will this be? Yeah
- 8:10Speaker 1: in twelve months? Where will this trend be in twelve months?
- 8:13Speaker 1: And if you know in your deep, darkest barts of
- 8:16Speaker 1: your soul, let it won't be I feel like that
- 8:18Speaker 1: answers your question for you.
- 8:20Speaker 2: If you can see into a crystal ball that it's
- 8:22Speaker 2: at a viny somewhere, Oh, don't buy it?
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Number seven?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Have I waited twenty four hours for non essential purchases?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Follow the twenty four hour rule. This gives you time
- 8:36Speaker 2: to think and prevents impulse purchases and decisions, especially if
- 8:41Speaker 2: you're feeling emotional, if you've had a bad day, or
- 8:44Speaker 2: even if you've had a good day and you're.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Like, I'm going to.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Shit, which there's nothing wrong with that, but give yourself
- 8:51Speaker 2: twenty four hours to make sure that you're not like
- 8:54Speaker 2: riding the high or low of whatever emotion you're feeling
- 8:57Speaker 2: and you actually want that purchase Number eight. And finally,
- 9:02Speaker 2: is there a more budget friendly alternative? Before you click
- 9:05Speaker 2: add to cart? Ask yourself, can you borrow, buy used,
- 9:10Speaker 2: or DIY instead? Sometimes the alternative is just as good,
- 9:14Speaker 2: and most of the time it's a lot cheaper.
- 9:17Speaker 1: My favorite thing is looking on deepop and finding the
- 9:21Speaker 1: same thing, especially when it's brand new with tags and
- 9:25Speaker 1: it's so much cheaper, and it's cheaper than what you
- 9:27Speaker 1: would get even with like a discount code on the
- 9:29Speaker 1: brand new item on a retailer site. Definitely, and you
- 9:32Speaker 1: can feel a little bit better because you're buying your
- 9:34Speaker 1: second hit.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah, all going and getting things repaired. Not enough of
- 9:37Speaker 2: us do this.
- 9:38Speaker 1: That's my goal for this year is I want to
- 9:41Speaker 1: learn how to sew and knit and tailor. And I
- 9:46Speaker 1: just feel like I'm going to be a god among men. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: like I'm going to be better than everyone else. Like
- 9:51Speaker 1: my jeens. Guess what I tailored them? Thanks rains too long?
- 9:54Speaker 1: I brought them up. Straps need fixing, fixed it done,
- 9:59Speaker 1: button broken, not anymore, bitch. I can do that. I
- 10:02Speaker 1: can do that one now, I see, I'm ready one
- 10:05Speaker 1: today for the way exactly. Now. With all habits, they're
- 10:09Speaker 1: super fun at the start and we get like a
- 10:11Speaker 1: high and we're like, whoo, let me go. I'm ah,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm did, I'll have again Okay. But the hardest part
- 10:18Speaker 1: is actually making them consistent and sticking to it. So
- 10:21Speaker 1: it's all well and good to ride out and set
- 10:24Speaker 1: up your pre buy checklist. However, it's even better to
- 10:28Speaker 1: stick to it. So here are some fun little bonus
- 10:32Speaker 1: tips to help you stick to the checklist and make
- 10:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty five your best financial year yet Number one
- 10:39Speaker 1: and my favorite personal favorite set of fun budget money.
- 10:43Speaker 1: The way we talk about money sometimes is so boring
- 10:46Speaker 1: and regulated and there's no fucking fun. It's so unachievable
- 10:51Speaker 1: to be like, okay, cool, you get paid, put money
- 10:53Speaker 1: in your savings, and then just buy the necessities. And
- 10:55Speaker 1: I'm like, no, I'm a little baby girl. I need
- 10:58Speaker 1: sparkly fun things in my life. I need my trinket shin.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm geriatric, I love a drinket. So allow yourself a
- 11:07Speaker 1: set amount for non essential purchases so you don't feel deprived. Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 1: this could be a sinking fund for specific purchases such
- 11:15Speaker 1: as beauty appointments, makeup clothes, or nights out, or an
- 11:19Speaker 1: account that you transfer extra money you have after you
- 11:22Speaker 1: review your monthly budget and have essentials accounted for. Like
- 11:26Speaker 1: I have an account that is just for like nails,
- 11:29Speaker 1: hair browse, and I transfer a set amount into it
- 11:33Speaker 1: each week, and so then whenever I do want to
- 11:35Speaker 1: go get my nails done and I want to get
- 11:38Speaker 1: a cool on, or I want to get my hair done,
- 11:40Speaker 1: or I even want a massage, I don't feel bad
- 11:43Speaker 1: about spending because I've just been transferring twenty dollars a
- 11:45Speaker 1: week into this account, and then in like two months,
- 11:48Speaker 1: I'm like, oh tree myself.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Okay, if you subscribe to girl math, doing this equals
- 11:55Speaker 2: free money.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're paying spending for your nails. Yeah, like
- 12:00Speaker 1: that's just how it works. Sorry, maybe a little bit
- 12:02Speaker 1: less fun, but still a good tip is to keep
- 12:05Speaker 1: your goals visible, So write your pre by checklist in
- 12:08Speaker 1: your notes app and set it as your phone screen.
- 12:11Speaker 1: You can also label your accounts with what you're saving for.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I find this super super helpful. So if you're saving
- 12:17Speaker 1: for a europe trip, a home loan, a deposit maybe,
- 12:21Speaker 1: or even a new car. When you set the name
- 12:24Speaker 1: of the account as that goal, it helps you avoid
- 12:28Speaker 1: taking money out of the account because every time you do,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you're taking it away from your goal. And you're like,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I won't touch it. Yeah, right, you in an account,
- 12:36Speaker 1: That's right. But I find both of those two really
- 12:41Speaker 1: really helpful, especially the one where you give yourself a
- 12:44Speaker 1: little bit of leeway. That's a fun.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And here's the master money tip that we want you
- 12:50Speaker 2: to walk away with this episode, the master card click
- 12:54Speaker 2: to pay feature. Click to pay is an online checkout
- 12:57Speaker 2: tool that you can use to pay quickly and seurely
- 13:00Speaker 2: from any device without having to add your card details
- 13:04Speaker 2: in every time. You can even store multiple cards under
- 13:08Speaker 2: the one click to pay account, meaning you can use
- 13:11Speaker 2: your vacation fund when you're booking flights, select your fun
- 13:15Speaker 2: fund when you're buying movie tickets online, or shopping fund
- 13:19Speaker 2: when you are picking up bargains this Boxing Day. Once
- 13:22Speaker 2: you've linked your cards, you just have to look for
- 13:24Speaker 2: the click to pay icon at participating merchants, choose your
- 13:28Speaker 2: payment method and check out in just a few clicks.
- 13:31Speaker 1: They have a chicky. So that's it for episode three
- 13:34Speaker 1: of the Financial Glow up the twenty twenty five reset.

- 13:40Speaker 1: a twenty twenty five feel free to share this with
- 13:42Speaker 1: a friend or chuck it in the group chat, and

- 13:48Speaker 1: use the Boxing Day Sales cheat sheep and get the
- 13:50Speaker 1: best deals this Dale say that
