- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:53Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:55Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and stories, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:07Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations
- 1:11Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:19Speaker 1: for his compassions never failed. They are new every morning.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:26Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:32Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Now, there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There
- 1:42Speaker 2: are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are
- 1:46Speaker 2: different activities, but the same God is active in everyone
- 1:51Speaker 2: and everything. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to
- 1:56Speaker 2: each person to produce what is beneficial birth. Corinthians twelve
- 2:03Speaker 2: four through seven. Yesterday we began our series on the
- 2:10Speaker 2: Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We discussed that there are
- 2:15Speaker 2: nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, and here we are
- 2:21Speaker 2: going to define those gifts, and then we are going
- 2:26Speaker 2: to ask a question. Here are the gifts defined? To
- 2:31Speaker 2: one is given a message of wisdom through the spirit
- 2:36Speaker 2: to another, a message of knowledge by the same spirit
- 2:41Speaker 2: to another, faith by the same spirit to another. Gifts
- 2:46Speaker 2: of healing by the one spirit to another, the performing
- 2:52Speaker 2: of miracles to another, prophecy to another, distinguishing between spirits
- 2:59Speaker 2: to another, different kinds of languages and to another interpretation
- 3:06Speaker 2: of languages. But one and the same Spirit is active
- 3:12Speaker 2: in all these gifts, distributing to each one as he wills.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It is important for us to ask this question, are
- 3:23Speaker 2: the gifts of the Holy Spirit active in the body
- 3:28Speaker 2: of Christ today? And if so, how do we acknowledge
- 3:34Speaker 2: them in our daily walk with the Lord Jesus. The
- 3:39Speaker 2: question is not an unusual question. It is more about experience.
- 3:49Speaker 2: You see, when you experience something, you have a means
- 3:54Speaker 2: of relating that experience to someone else. I'm going to
- 3:59Speaker 2: share with you a personal experience that I had as
- 4:04Speaker 2: the Lord demonstrated the gift of the Holy Spirit in
- 4:10Speaker 2: operation chosen only for His benefit through me. And the
- 4:19Speaker 2: reason I'm sharing this is not to boast. I have
- 4:22Speaker 2: nothing that I could brag about, but I do need
- 4:26Speaker 2: to let you see that in our world today, the
- 4:30Speaker 2: Holy Spirit is actively providing his gifts and manifestations. Sometimes
- 4:38Speaker 2: we just don't see them. So here is the example
- 4:45Speaker 2: please follow, for this is very real and one in
- 4:50Speaker 2: which I can tell you was experiential, and I can
- 4:54Speaker 2: only tell you I experienced it and shared it with
- 4:59Speaker 2: someone else, and they in turn glorified God. So if
- 5:05Speaker 2: the gift glorifies God, that is one significant means of
- 5:11Speaker 2: being able to identify that it is a manifestation of
- 5:16Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit, because there's nothing else that is going
- 5:20Speaker 2: to cause us to glorify God. So here's the example.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Several years ago, when I was in the insurance industry,
- 5:31Speaker 2: I had an agency where we were training new agents,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and we prayed every morning for those agents. We prayed
- 5:41Speaker 2: for their appointments, we prayed for those that they would see.
- 5:47Speaker 2: We prayed not just for them to be able to
- 5:50Speaker 2: offer a product or a policy, but to truly see
- 5:54Speaker 2: the need that others have and try as much as
- 5:58Speaker 2: possible to be obedient to meet that need and ultimately
- 6:05Speaker 2: glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. Now this was unusual for
- 6:10Speaker 2: some people. They may have said, why would we do
- 6:13Speaker 2: this in business? What was the reason? Well, I'm not
- 6:17Speaker 2: going to take all of your time to go through
- 6:21Speaker 2: the entire testimony, but I will summarize how the gift
- 6:26Speaker 2: of the Holy Spirit operated in this, your speaker. Here's
- 6:32Speaker 2: what took place. In one of our morning meetings. We
- 6:37Speaker 2: had agents that would come from not only the local area,
- 6:41Speaker 2: but also from several cities around And there was one
- 6:46Speaker 2: agent who would always show up late. And the reason
- 6:50Speaker 2: he would show up late was because he did not
- 6:53Speaker 2: want to be included in the prayer gathering. He just
- 6:58Speaker 2: was interested in what he could do in the insurance business.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And he would show up late to get his assignment.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And he was not obligated to be there for prayer,
- 7:10Speaker 2: but he was obligated to come so that he could
- 7:13Speaker 2: receive assignment for that day. And so he came, and
- 7:19Speaker 2: we had finished our praying, and he came to me
- 7:24Speaker 2: and he was agitated, as I could see, and I
- 7:29Speaker 2: looked at him. We had prayed, he was getting ready
- 7:33Speaker 2: to receive his actual appointment assignments, and I asked him
- 7:39Speaker 2: a question. I said, Carl, that was his name. I said,
- 7:45Speaker 2: are you having a pain in your chest? Now? He
- 7:51Speaker 2: immediately answered me no, and he stormed out of the office,
- 7:57Speaker 2: got into his automobile and began to back out into
- 8:01Speaker 2: the street to leave. But then he stopped and he
- 8:07Speaker 2: came back into the office. There was nobody else there
- 8:12Speaker 2: other than the secretary and Carl and myself, and he
- 8:18Speaker 2: asked me, he said, Richard, how did you know I
- 8:25Speaker 2: was having an angina attack at the very moment you
- 8:31Speaker 2: asked if I was having pain in my chest? How
- 8:37Speaker 2: did you know? But folks, let me explain how I knew.
- 8:43Speaker 2: The gift of the Holy Spirit in the Word of
- 8:50Speaker 2: Knowledge was being imparted to me in a manner that
- 8:55Speaker 2: only I can express to you. It felt like I
- 9:01Speaker 2: was having the same pain, although I was not having
- 9:07Speaker 2: the pain myself. It was Carl that was having the pain.
- 9:14Speaker 2: The Holy Spirit was revealing to me that the knowledge
- 9:19Speaker 2: of his condition needed to be revealed. And so the
- 9:27Speaker 2: outcome was that Carl Foley accepted the Lord Jesus and
- 9:34Speaker 2: today is preaching the gospel from a small church in
- 9:39Speaker 2: a town in an area close to Charlotte, North Carolina,
- 9:45Speaker 2: So this was used by the Holy Spirit to benefit all.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 9:55Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 9:57Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard King, you can hear
- 10:00Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as

- 10:08Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great Is Thy
- 10:11Speaker 1: Faithfulness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album unless otherwise.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 10:20Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.

- 10:28Speaker 1: K include Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 10:32Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 10:36Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 10:40Speaker 2: We can see this demonstration in many ways. The reason
- 10:44Speaker 2: I shared it with you was not because it's the
- 10:48Speaker 2: only way that God will show us a word of
- 10:53Speaker 2: knowledge or wisdom as to how to use that supernatural knowledge.
- 11:01Speaker 2: But He will use whatever individual is surrendered to him
- 11:07Speaker 2: that will allow the Holy Spirit to give him the
- 11:12Speaker 2: gift operating to provide for the benefit of others in
- 11:19Speaker 2: the Body of Christs. The reason it is so critical
- 11:25Speaker 2: for us to know and follow the leading of the
- 11:29Speaker 2: Holy Spirit is that today we don't need just more
- 11:34Speaker 2: natural knowledge, we need supernatural direction from God. And that
- 11:44Speaker 2: is today's Reflection on the Word.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 11:51Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 11:54Speaker 1: Richard k or Richard in the entire team. This is
