Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on Relatables Baddies Book Club, and she is
- 0:02Speaker 1: now known as the fire breathing bitch queen.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Good name. I kind of thought, like, that's not very creative.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Welcome to Relatables Baddies Book Club, where we will embark
- 0:14Speaker 3: on a journey reading some of the finest pieces of
- 0:16Speaker 3: literature you have ever laid eyes, or ears, if.
- 0:19Speaker 2: That's your preferred way to consume a book, on. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Queen of Shadows, chapter zero to 20.
- 0:27Speaker 1: All right. I want to quickly preface a couple of things,
- 0:30Speaker 1: or I don't even know what the right word is.
- 0:34Speaker 1: In last week's episode, where we did the full book
- 0:36Speaker 1: of Erifier, we completely forgot about a couple of things.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We did. Completely. Our plan was to go lackadaisical.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And when we go that way, we go too far
- 0:44Speaker 2: that way.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Still good though.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Still good. Still good. Number one thing we
- 0:49Speaker 1: forgot is at the end of the book, Dorian's dad,
- 0:53Speaker 1: the king, who recently discovered doesn't have a name and
- 0:56Speaker 1: never has a name. He's just the king. He put
- 0:59Speaker 1: one of the collars that looks a bit like a necklace,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I think. He put a collar on Dorian, and we
- 1:06Speaker 1: know that those collars gives the Valg demons full access
- 1:12Speaker 1: to a body to possess. And the reason we know
- 1:15Speaker 1: that is because of another reason we completely forgot to
- 1:18Speaker 1: talk about was that when Aelin, or Selene, was over
- 1:19Speaker 1: in Wendelin... And she's training with Rowan. They go into
- 1:31Speaker 1: the woods and there's this creature he's never seen before.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And they actually basically spend most of the book trying
- 1:38Speaker 1: to find these creatures again or figure out what's going
- 1:40Speaker 1: on because there's these random murders happening. Can't believe we
- 1:43Speaker 1: forgot about this.
- 1:44Speaker 2: To be fair, I was like, nah, yeah, it's a
- 1:46Speaker 2: pretty bad thing to forget. And so, we've got these things.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And so, we find out that what the king can
- 1:55Speaker 1: do is he can take these like word... collars, word
- 1:59Speaker 1: key collars, I don't know if that's what they are
- 2:00Speaker 1: or not, but anyway, and put them on people who
- 2:03Speaker 1: have magic in their blood and the Valg princes, at
- 2:09Speaker 1: least three of them are on Wendelin, they will possess
- 2:13Speaker 1: a body and they're very powerful, very, very, very powerful.
- 2:19Speaker 1: There was like three skinwalkers that Aelin and Rowan actually
- 2:24Speaker 1: put on Um, what, one of the Valk princes and
- 2:27Speaker 1: the Valk prince killed three of them.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 1: So very powerful. And in the end, Aelin ends up
- 2:32Speaker 1: killing three of them with her fire. Right. So I
- 2:36Speaker 1: think those are the main things we forgot.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Pretty sure that was it. Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Definitely the main things we forgot.
- 2:40Speaker 2: The important things anyway.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah. So Kael, we weren't sure. I remember. So Kael
- 2:45Speaker 1: got away because Dorian used his magic and then his
- 2:49Speaker 1: dad puts the collar on Kael, on Dorian and Aedan.
- 2:52Speaker 1: People are saying his name's Aedion. Can't do it to myself.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It's just Aedon. And so Aedon is in the dungeons.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I thought it was Aedion.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh, maybe it is Aedion. Yeah. There was a comment
- 3:05Speaker 1: on Patreon saying, like, this is how it's pronounced. And
- 3:06Speaker 1: I was just thinking, like, it's just Aedon.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I wrote notes for myself on my notes, like, after
- 3:12Speaker 2: each chapter so I can remember because I don't have
- 3:13Speaker 2: a very good memory. And I was just writing, I
- 3:16Speaker 2: just started writing Aiden like my brother.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Well, yeah, why not? So when you're listening, they're saying
- 3:21Speaker 1: like Aiden. Aiden. Aiden. Yeah. Dang, I'm saying Aiden.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'll try and, I'll switch up Aiden. It's spelt with
- 3:26Speaker 2: A though. So I don't know. It's A, I'm sure
- 3:30Speaker 2: it's A-E-D-I-O-N. It sounds like Aiden, Aiden. No, it's definitely Aiden.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Any fucking way, bro. Well, I've actually thought about this. What? So, Kale. Right?
- 3:46Speaker 1: His name's Kale. Or like... Kale. Anyway. No, I was
- 3:50Speaker 1: wrong with that. So, his name is K-A-L-E. Yeah. Right?
- 3:55Speaker 1: But it's spelled C-H-A-O-L. I've always thought, what would my
- 4:01Speaker 1: name be? So if my name's Jake, how would it
- 4:04Speaker 1: be spelt in a fantasy book?
- 4:06Speaker 4: How would it be smelt like shit? Why do you
- 4:09Speaker 4: instantly see this guy as shit? Why does it have
- 4:11Speaker 4: to smell like shit? Why does it have to smell
- 4:15Speaker 4: like shit, bro? How do you even say that? He said,
- 4:19Speaker 4: how would Jake be smelt?
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think it's still stuck.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And then you laughed and said, smell like shit. Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 2: We had dinner last night together with my girlfriend and
- 4:30Speaker 2: you told her, A long story about your shit. I
- 4:32Speaker 2: think it's just embedded in my brain.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Well, yeah. You know what's funny is the last time
- 4:38Speaker 1: Cassie and I hung out, we also spoke about shit.
- 4:41Speaker 2: She was loving that story. She was fucking losing it.
- 4:44Speaker 2: How would Jake be said?
- 4:48Speaker 1: I think it would be spelled.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Spelled or said?
- 4:50Speaker 1: No, it's said Jake, right? So it's like, because everything
- 4:52Speaker 1: is said normally, but spelled weird. I think it would
- 4:55Speaker 1: be G-A-I-C. Or G-A-E-K. And people would be like, is
- 5:06Speaker 1: it Gayak? But no, it's just Jake.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I like that. G-A-E-K. What about Oddie?
- 5:12Speaker 1: What about Oddie?
- 5:15Speaker 2: It has to start with an R or else it's... Oddie.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I've got Otway too. For all the baddies who didn't know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: that's my name.
- 5:22Speaker 1: True.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Otway.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Put a silent letter in there. I feel like they
- 5:25Speaker 1: do that a lot.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Otway.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Already? No, I feel like people would say it right.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You almost want to spell it in a way where
- 5:32Speaker 1: people just don't know how to say it.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Then O throws it because O is only an O.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It could be, you know how sometimes T-H is just
- 5:41Speaker 1: T still?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It could be O-T-H-E-E. Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. People might be thinking it's O-T, but
- 5:50Speaker 1: it's actually just O-T. Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Is it O-T or O-T? Do you reckon, you know
- 5:55Speaker 2: how I actually sidebar? I spell a few things wrong
- 5:58Speaker 2: if I'll do a caption or I'll post something with
- 6:00Speaker 2: some writing in it. Yeah, yeah, I've noticed. Do you
- 6:02Speaker 2: reckon it's a bit of a hack where like... Because
- 6:03Speaker 2: people comment on that and that boosts engagement. And like
- 6:07Speaker 2: I don't give a single fuck if I put the
- 6:09Speaker 2: wrong there in the thing.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Someone's like, you're a fucking idiot. But then three people comment,
- 6:13Speaker 2: it's good engagement. Do you reckon authors like fucking... Spell
- 6:17Speaker 2: them weird. So people are like, oh, my God, you know,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and they start the conversation around the names.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It's a very good point. It's something to talk about.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Because if it was just Jake, everyone knows it's going
- 6:25Speaker 2: to be Jake. But if it's just like, is it Jake? Yeah, like,
- 6:28Speaker 2: what the fuck? Is this guy's name Jake?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Is it fucking Gak? Yeah, like, what is this?
- 6:35Speaker 1: No, that's very valid. All right, baddies.
- 6:38Speaker 2: We are going to hit you with a treat today.
- 6:42Speaker 2: We are.
- 6:43Speaker 1: All right? I've been... been massaging the jaw, pause. I'm
- 6:48Speaker 1: going to be doing a lot of talking today because
- 6:51Speaker 1: we're going back to the old way.
- 6:53Speaker 2: You guys wanted it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Everyone keeps saying, I fear everyone. Women are so nice
- 6:57Speaker 1: because our audience is 95% women.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Book club's got to be that.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Book club's going to be 99%. Um, but,
- 7:06Speaker 1: Women are so nice because they're like, oh, I'm so sorry,
- 7:09Speaker 1: but I fear I just, I really like the old way.
- 7:13Speaker 1: No one wants to be like, this new way fucking sucks.
- 7:18Speaker 2: We're getting back into a good routine, baddies.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, we are.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Right. So it's time for the recap.
- 7:31Speaker 1: We're recapping every chapter, thoughts and theories to every plot twist.
- 7:35Speaker 2: We'll break it.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Down for you. Chapter one.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounded good. Chapter one, baddies.
- 7:45Speaker 1: We opened up the book and I actually couldn't straight away.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It took me like two paragraphs just to realize whose
- 7:52Speaker 1: perspective we were from. And so we're in Dorian's perspective
- 7:56Speaker 1: and he's like, He can't remember who he is very
- 8:00Speaker 1: well anymore. He's like not really remembering his name. And
- 8:03Speaker 1: he's talking about the beast on the other side of
- 8:05Speaker 1: the wall type of thing. And that's the Valg demon.
- 8:08Speaker 1: That's possessed his body. And he says that what he
- 8:11Speaker 1: does realize is that he is being kind of paraded
- 8:16Speaker 1: as if nothing's wrong. He knows he looks the same,
- 8:19Speaker 1: but he's not the same. And he realized that no
- 8:23Speaker 1: one knows that he is now possessed by a demon. No.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I was picturing like, you know, in the movies where
- 8:29Speaker 2: like it's a war movie and like a grenade goes
- 8:30Speaker 2: off and it's like after it, he's not like affected
- 8:32Speaker 2: at all, but it's like.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just kind of like that.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And you're like just fuzzy, but like you still know
- 8:37Speaker 2: you're fine, but like what's going on?
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It's fucking bro.
- 8:43Speaker 1: One thing I want to say about Queen of Shadows
- 8:46Speaker 1: compared to Akatar and compared to Crescent City as well,
- 8:50Speaker 1: at least because I finished book one is, so I
- 8:54Speaker 1: feel like, as of right now, we haven't had any resolution,
- 9:00Speaker 1: which is good in my opinion. I really liked that.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Like the whole book is kind of one, sorry, the
- 9:07Speaker 1: whole series is like one major problem. And there's obviously
- 9:10Speaker 1: little problems that happen throughout, but like each book has
- 9:13Speaker 1: finished on sort of happy ending, but it's mainly just
- 9:17Speaker 1: the happy ending is the fact that people are like
- 9:19Speaker 1: accepting growth and stuff. Whereas on ACOTAR, I feel like
- 9:23Speaker 1: each book sort of, ended. And so then the next
- 9:27Speaker 1: one had to start with a new problem to face
- 9:29Speaker 1: that book. Agreed.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Whereas this is just continuing.
- 9:33Speaker 1: This is continuing. And Crescent City was the same. They
- 9:35Speaker 1: had this one major problem. And it's like, there is
- 9:38Speaker 1: a major problem that you don't know yet, which I'm
- 9:41Speaker 1: annoyed about. With this one, you know the major problem.
- 9:43Speaker 2: The character, oh, I was going to say the character
- 9:46Speaker 2: development on this is better, but Feyre's character development is brilliant.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It is good.
- 9:50Speaker 2: The storyline development is uncomparable.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I felt like, That would almost make a better
- 9:56Speaker 2: TV series, like episode by episode, like hour, and a
- 9:59Speaker 2: half per episode, whereas this would make a good movie.
- 10:02Speaker 2: You reckon? Yeah, like a really long movie.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Chapter two. So, we're back with Selina. And also, while
- 10:11Speaker 1: we're in... I believe she's acting as Selina while back
- 10:15Speaker 1: at Rift Hall.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And she's trying to regain... Wanting to be Selene. Kind of,
- 10:21Speaker 2: I think. I think she'll come to terms with... She'll
- 10:23Speaker 2: be Selene.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I reckon she's going to be Aelin.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I reckon she'll be Selene a bit... Like, she'll have
- 10:27Speaker 2: all the roles of Aelin that people will call her Selene.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Oh, she's going to, like, change her name.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I reckon... She's been Selene for longer than she's been Aelin. Yeah, no,
- 10:35Speaker 2: that's true.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I just... The thing with these books is, like, so...
- 10:39Speaker 1: Will she be... Will she then be Selene Galathineus?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Good point.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You know what I mean? You know what I mean? Anyway. So...
- 10:48Speaker 1: she has come back to rooftop and she's got this,
- 10:52Speaker 1: she's talks about how she's got this, like, um, just,
- 10:56Speaker 1: she has these things she needs to do. She doesn't
- 10:57Speaker 1: name them, but she has this plan, step-by-step plan of
- 11:01Speaker 1: doing things and people that she basically needs to kill.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I think it's, that's what it is. Um, she dyes
- 11:06Speaker 1: her hair like Auburn. What is Auburn? Orange.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Oh, is it like ash?
- 11:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:11Speaker 1: So she's gone ranger.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I assume this is why the book's red.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Green of shadows. Yeah. So she's dyed her hair with something.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And she's at the vaults. Do we remember what the
- 11:21Speaker 1: vaults are?
- 11:22Speaker 2: That is where they deal with all the stuff that
- 11:25Speaker 2: they've told.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah, like scum of the earth.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: It's where Sam would do the fighting and, you know, there's.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Like- Back alleys.
- 11:32Speaker 1: It's a brothel and stuff. It's like in the slums,
- 11:34Speaker 1: but it's like a bar underground or whatever. So she's
- 11:36Speaker 1: in there and she's in there. She's trying to find
- 11:38Speaker 1: out who Arab and Hamel is meeting. And so- She's
- 11:44Speaker 1: there and she's trying to lay low, blah, blah, blah.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And then one of Erebon's assassins comes up behind her
- 11:49Speaker 1: and he's like, you know, he's in the back room,
- 11:53Speaker 1: you know, back room. And she goes, all right, yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: his name's Turn. Apparently he's a cunt. Sorry, that was
- 11:58Speaker 1: a bad word, but apparently he is. Bad word. And
- 12:04Speaker 1: what she ends up doing is she sees that Erebon
- 12:09Speaker 1: Hamill is meeting with someone. And that she sneaks over
- 12:13Speaker 1: and she finds out that it's Kale. Yeah. But Kale
- 12:16Speaker 1: doesn't see her. And so she kind of goes, holy shit.
- 12:19Speaker 1: She backs off. She's like, what the fuck? Why? She's like,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I knew I'd probably see Kale. I didn't expect to
- 12:23Speaker 1: see him here. Is he talking to Ariburn about? She's all,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:26Speaker 2: What was the time period between all of the last book?
- 12:31Speaker 2: Was that like two years?
- 12:33Speaker 1: No, no, no. I think it was just a couple months, bro.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Was it only a couple months?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I think it was like just a couple months.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Oh, I was fucking reading this in like. thinking Kale's fucking, like,
- 12:43Speaker 2: had to deal with, like, all this grief and Dorian
- 12:45Speaker 2: and everyone, and they've, like, forgotten about Celana in a sense.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It's only a couple months.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Nah, because, yeah, bro, I'm pretty sure it's only been
- 12:51Speaker 1: a couple months because also, um, because when we, so, yeah, no, dude,
- 12:59Speaker 1: I swear it's been, like, four months. Fuck, that makes it, yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 2: So much has changed. Like, literally so much has changed.
- 13:05Speaker 2: That's why I was thinking, like, like, Kale's fucking, like,
- 13:07Speaker 2: changed sides and shit.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Like, All your thoughts on Kale now. Hate his guts, eh? Oh, yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I see why he's gone the way he.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Has, though.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know, bro.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Like, fuck off.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I don't think it's justified, but you can see the
- 13:22Speaker 2: thinking behind it. Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: All right.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Fuck, that changes things. Could someone comment below? That's probably it.
- 13:29Speaker 2: What is the timeframe between Heir of Fire and- Oh, no.
- 13:33Speaker 1: What's the timeframe from the start of Heir of Fire
- 13:35Speaker 1: to the beginning of Queen of Shadows? Yeah. And I
- 13:37Speaker 1: think she's about four.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But she's, like, learned to wield her powers and shit.
- 13:40Speaker 2: She's always longer than three months.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It's Aelin Galathineus, my bro. He fucking puts the work in.
- 13:45Speaker 2: It's Selene of Cydothian. She was meant to grieve Nahemia
- 13:48Speaker 2: for ages. She still is grieving Nahemia.
- 13:52Speaker 1: All right, chapter three. She ends up going and Kael leaves.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And then she goes and she sits with Erebon. And
- 13:58Speaker 1: he knew she was coming. So, I've got this whole thing, right? So.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Something that I think is cool about these books, right,
- 14:07Speaker 1: is that the king is the villain. It's not often
- 14:11Speaker 1: that we have much to do with the king, though.
- 14:13Speaker 2: No, he doesn't have any dialogue.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Barely any dialogue. Barely does anything. He's kind of like God.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He's playing God.
- 14:23Speaker 2: He's a puppet master.
- 14:24Speaker 1: He's a puppet master. One thing we're forgetting, and I
- 14:27Speaker 1: think we have been forgetting a lot, the king, genius.
- 14:31Speaker 1: We have to remember that he figured out about the
- 14:33Speaker 1: word keys. Within, like, in less than half the amount
- 14:37Speaker 1: of time it took Selene. Because that, like, doorknob guy
- 14:41Speaker 1: told Selene that, yeah, he figured it out way quicker
- 14:42Speaker 1: than you dumbass. Anyway, I was trying to keep that
- 14:46Speaker 1: in mind. But I think the real villain is Erebon.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Even if the king's more powerful.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Definitely more powerful. But, yeah, Erebon and even Selene and
- 14:57Speaker 2: the way she interacts with Erebon throughout these 20 chapters
- 14:59Speaker 2: is pissing me off.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Like, we hate Erebon more than the king.
- 15:03Speaker 2: There's, oh yeah, 100%. There's something to do with like
- 15:06Speaker 2: manipulation and that like, what's the power dynamic where she
- 15:11Speaker 2: looks up to him and like, oh my God, he's back.
- 15:13Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 15:14Speaker 2: She really loves him.
- 15:15Speaker 1: She really loves him. Yeah. But also really hates him.
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's very difficult for her to not love him, I think.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I think so too.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I thought she's going to come back and like fucking
- 15:27Speaker 2: do it all by herself. Fuck these guys. Nah, complete opposite.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Because of how much she's been manipulated by him.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 15:33Speaker 1: One thing I've liked, though, is that she's quite often
- 15:38Speaker 1: seeing through the manipulation and going, look, I can use
- 15:40Speaker 1: his manipulation against him. Yes. So, I hope that that's
- 15:43Speaker 1: actually what's happening and not that she's just getting manipulated.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I think it's that again, hey.
- 15:49Speaker 1: She's getting older, though. That's the thing as well. She's
- 15:50Speaker 1: getting older. So, that's good. But he's mid to late 30s.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Only three months older than when she left.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Right. So, she goes, she talks to Erebon. And we
- 16:02Speaker 1: figure out he's always known that she's been the heir
- 16:05Speaker 1: of Taristan's throne. He's always known. And he says that
- 16:09Speaker 1: Erebon says that word got around about her powers and
- 16:13Speaker 1: the fight against the Valg in Wendelin, the three Valg
- 16:16Speaker 1: that she killed. And she is now known as the
- 16:18Speaker 1: fire-breathing bitch queen.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Good name. I kind of thought like, that's not very creative.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Five breathing bitch queen. I was like, did Erevin just
- 16:29Speaker 2: make that up on the spot? Yeah, he's like, shit,
- 16:31Speaker 2: what can I say?
- 16:32Speaker 1: But anyway, he also says, Aiden, or Aiden, he has
- 16:38Speaker 1: been arrested for treason. And Selene is like, shit, fuck,
- 16:42Speaker 1: I know, blah, blah, blah. And the king's going to
- 16:44Speaker 1: execute him in three days at Dorian's birthday. Right? So,
- 16:48Speaker 1: Selene is like, Cool, cool, cool. He goes, obviously it's
- 16:51Speaker 1: a trap for you. The king wants to weed you
- 16:54Speaker 1: out and he's going to kill you.
- 16:56Speaker 2: She says, yep, yep.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And so then he says, Erebon basically offers assistance in
- 17:03Speaker 1: retrieving Aiden. Which was so sus.
- 17:04Speaker 2: In retrieving Aiden. And she's like, I don't know, bro.
- 17:09Speaker 1: What do you want in return? Like, what's the go here?
- 17:12Speaker 1: And he goes, can't I offer a favor? And I'm like, oh,
- 17:15Speaker 1: come on.
- 17:16Speaker 2: He was more like, daddy, Airborne. You're fucking back. Basically,
- 17:24Speaker 2: what has been happening? So, he's like, oh, I just
- 17:27Speaker 2: can't offer a favor, blah, blah, blah.
- 17:28Speaker 1: And he says what's been happening while she's been gone
- 17:30Speaker 1: is that there's been these new guards going around the city, right?
- 17:37Speaker 1: That just don't seem like real people. And they're executing...
- 17:42Speaker 1: Anyone that has magic traced to their bloodline, even if
- 17:45Speaker 1: they don't show any magic or whatever, some of them
- 17:49Speaker 1: get executed on the spot and some of them get
- 17:51Speaker 1: just taken away, never to be seen again. And what
- 17:53Speaker 1: we know is that they get taken to be tested
- 17:56Speaker 1: on to see if the vow demons can possess them.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Now he says something, I don't know how we get
- 18:03Speaker 1: to this, but he says like, what's going on here?
- 18:07Speaker 1: Selena actually knows more than Arabin in this moment about
- 18:10Speaker 1: what's going on. He's trying to figure it out because
- 18:11Speaker 1: he's like, I love Rift Hold and I'm sick of
- 18:13Speaker 1: my city being this dog shit place.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Do you think the king is just trying to make
- 18:18Speaker 2: everyone possessed and just like be his puppets?
- 18:21Speaker 1: Like what's the end game here? I don't know what
- 18:23Speaker 1: the end game is.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Or he just wants pure control and he doesn't have
- 18:28Speaker 2: enough at the moment.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He must.
- 18:29Speaker 2: He just must want to have pure control and just
- 18:31Speaker 2: have no one has a happy life.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Fuck me.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Do you think the king's possessed?
- 18:37Speaker 1: I do.
- 18:38Speaker 2: You do? Yeah. And he's not in complete control of
- 18:40Speaker 2: the decisions he's making isn't from him? He doesn't like Dorian,
- 18:44Speaker 2: but like.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I think he's either possessed or he is obviously just super,
- 18:48Speaker 1: super evil. Yeah. But I have this feeling that like
- 18:52Speaker 1: part of him is possessed. I don't know though, but he,
- 18:55Speaker 1: because he allows... Do you know.
- 18:56Speaker 2: In The Hobbit, the second one, or was it the
- 19:00Speaker 2: second or the first one, when they go to the
- 19:03Speaker 2: town on the water, whatever that was called.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Lake Town?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Lake Town. And that king's possessed.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Is he possessed?
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's possessed, remember? And they take it away and
- 19:11Speaker 2: he comes back and looks like normal again.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That's Lord of the Rings, bro. Is it? Yes.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Same concept, but.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Okay. It's like same concept. Okay. Lord of the Rings.
- 19:21Speaker 2: What's the Lord of the Rings?
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm getting confused. No, your thing. Okay. What you're thinking
- 19:24Speaker 1: of right now is the Hobbit. They get to Lake
- 19:27Speaker 1: Town and the Lord of Lake Town is just a
- 19:30Speaker 1: greedy fucker.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 1: He's not possessed. He's just a greedy fucker who dies
- 19:34Speaker 1: when Smaug- Gets shot and.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Falls on his boat. Yes.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Right? And I'm getting confused. What you're thinking about is
- 19:39Speaker 1: King Theoden from Lord of the Rings possessed by the
- 19:43Speaker 1: white wizard Saruman.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Right? And then Gandalf comes back as Gandalf the White
- 19:49Speaker 1: and gets to possess him. out of him. And he
- 19:51Speaker 1: lives in the Horselands. What's that lands called? I don't know.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I didn't even know what Lake Town was called. It's
- 20:00Speaker 2: fucking in the name. Anyway, he... We got there in
- 20:05Speaker 2: the end. Both of them. It's one of either of
- 20:08Speaker 2: those two things.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right. So, Selenis says that the king has
- 20:13Speaker 1: stifled magic and summoned ancient demons to infiltrate human bodies.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And the king uses these collars to allow the demon
- 20:18Speaker 1: to invade a host and that he has been targeting
- 20:21Speaker 1: for magic wielders. Right. So, she also says, are these
- 20:26Speaker 1: guards you're talking about wearing rings or collars? He says rings.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And she goes, all right, well, they are just being
- 20:32Speaker 1: controlled via these things. And then he says... Well, he thinks,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I know how you can repay me for helping Aiden.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I want you to catch me one of these motherfucking
- 20:45Speaker 1: demons and I want to question them. And she's like, well,
- 20:48Speaker 1: let me think about it. And basically he also wants
- 20:52Speaker 1: her forgiveness and shit. And they have just this dialogue.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And I was like, I hate him, but it makes
- 20:58Speaker 1: the story very interesting, I've got to admit.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, there's almost too many niceties though.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah, true.
- 21:04Speaker 2: She was almost very forgiving.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I think that she's acting that way though. I think
- 21:08Speaker 1: she's going to kill him eventually.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I reckon she will go to kill him, but she can't.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. I agree. Cause she also says
- 21:15Speaker 1: like his, his hands are calloused. So he's obviously been
- 21:17Speaker 1: training a lot. And I, I have this, I personally think,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I don't know if I've said this, but he uses
- 21:23Speaker 1: the word key for power. The reason Arabin's the best
- 21:25Speaker 1: in that is because he knows that the thing she
- 21:27Speaker 1: was wearing around her neck was a word key and
- 21:29Speaker 1: he uses it to make himself the best. Right. And
- 21:32Speaker 1: that's why he has so many ears in the city.
- 21:37Speaker 1: because he can influence anyone because of this power. Anyway,
- 21:40Speaker 1: chapter four is a chapter for Aiden. He's in his
- 21:44Speaker 1: cell awaiting his execution. And we find out that when
- 21:47Speaker 1: he originally got captured, he cut himself with a sword
- 21:52Speaker 1: and he didn't show anyone. And he did that because
- 21:54Speaker 1: he's like, I just want this infection. He wants it
- 21:55Speaker 1: to get infected and he wants it to kill him
- 21:57Speaker 1: before the king gets the satisfaction of killing him on
- 21:59Speaker 1: a public display. So then also Selene doesn't put herself
- 22:02Speaker 1: in harm's way. And that's basically that whole chapter. Chapter five.
- 22:06Speaker 1: At the end of her chapter with Erebon, Selene's chapter
- 22:09Speaker 1: with Erebon in chapter three, she does say, so Erebon leaves, right?
- 22:13Speaker 1: And she's like, so she has this list of things
- 22:16Speaker 1: she needs to do that she created on the boat
- 22:17Speaker 1: ride over from Wendelin. And we figure out that one
- 22:19Speaker 1: of those things is destroy the vaults. So Erebon leaves
- 22:25Speaker 1: and then we have Aiden's chapter. And then in chapter five,
- 22:28Speaker 1: she's being chased by 20 different guards because she just fucking,
- 22:32Speaker 1: she just murdered like 20 people in the vaults and
- 22:35Speaker 1: just destroyed the vaults. She says, if they aren't open,
- 22:39Speaker 1: if they, they may never open again, but if they
- 22:41Speaker 1: do open, it's not for a long, long time. And
- 22:43Speaker 1: Arabin had a lot of money tied up in the vaults.
- 22:46Speaker 1: So that was another thing that we learned. And so
- 22:49Speaker 1: she's on the run and she said that she's wigging
- 22:52Speaker 1: out because she's running, running, running. And she goes, these
- 22:55Speaker 1: motherfuckers should not be keeping up with me. I'm fucking Selena, bro.
- 22:59Speaker 1: These motherfuckers should not be keeping up, but they do.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And she jumps in the sewers and, And then she's
- 23:04Speaker 1: in the sewers trying to get away. And then what
- 23:05Speaker 1: she notices is there was a woman that Kale was
- 23:09Speaker 1: using what looked to be as a bodyguard. And she's
- 23:13Speaker 1: walking in the sewers and she's kind of realizing where
- 23:15Speaker 1: she is. And then she gets snuck up on by
- 23:17Speaker 1: this bodyguard and realizes it's the one that was next
- 23:19Speaker 1: to Kale while he was having a meeting with Erebon.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Chapter six. So it's chapter six now. And they're just
- 23:28Speaker 1: having a little bit of back and forth. And basically...
- 23:33Speaker 1: this guard won't tell Selena her name. Selena's like kind of,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I always find it so funny how Selena's like, I'll
- 23:39Speaker 1: just kill you. Yeah. I'll just kill you. I'll do
- 23:43Speaker 1: what I want. I'll just actually kill you. Joey says
- 23:45Speaker 1: this to people, I'll just kill you. Anyway, she just
- 23:47Speaker 1: threatens people with that and back and forth and then
- 23:50Speaker 1: so she finds out from this guard that because Selena says,
- 23:56Speaker 1: where's the captain? And Nezha's like, nah, ain't captain no more.
- 24:00Speaker 1: That motherfucker left the guard, right? And he's on the
- 24:03Speaker 1: run helping the rebels.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Hell yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Selene is like, bruh. Villanoc. What? And then they hear
- 24:10Speaker 1: some footsteps coming. And she realizes, shit, Nezrin was clearly
- 24:13Speaker 1: fucking making sure the coast was clear for everyone else
- 24:17Speaker 1: to come after her. And the end of the chapter
- 24:20Speaker 1: is she comes face to face with Kael. Yeah. And
- 24:23Speaker 1: one thing that was crazy as well is like Kael
- 24:26Speaker 1: just no reaction. Lightweight, no reaction. And Selene is kind
- 24:29Speaker 1: of like.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Cold as hell.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Cold as hell. These guys fucking got me. Chapter seven.
- 24:36Speaker 1: This is actually quite funny. In our notes, it says,
- 24:38Speaker 1: Selena and Kale have the ex-lovers who were once madly
- 24:41Speaker 1: in love until one blamed the other for the death
- 24:42Speaker 1: of a friend, even though it wasn't actually their fault,
- 24:44Speaker 1: but she tried to kill him anyway. And now things
- 24:46Speaker 1: are totally awkward. Reunion that we've all been waiting for.
- 24:53Speaker 1: So Selena, they're having a conversation and she hammers home
- 24:57Speaker 1: the fact that like, she's, I don't know if this
- 25:00Speaker 1: is in a dialogue or she says this to him,
- 25:02Speaker 1: but like, I seem to remember it was in a dialogue.
- 25:05Speaker 1: She has these feelings kind of rushing back, but then
- 25:07Speaker 1: also she remembers, she's like, I just can never ever
- 25:10Speaker 1: forgive him for what happened to Nahemia. And some people,
- 25:14Speaker 1: I think there was a part of me that thought
- 25:16Speaker 1: it's not his fault because he didn't do it. But like,
- 25:22Speaker 1: here's the thing, right? Let's think about this. Let's say,
- 25:26Speaker 1: let's say Beth works for The government and I, and
- 25:33Speaker 1: the government hates me and I hate the government. And
- 25:36Speaker 1: then she finds out that there's a threat on your life.
- 25:41Speaker 1: But for some reason, she doesn't tell me. And then
- 25:45Speaker 1: I find out last second and I race to you
- 25:48Speaker 1: and you're cut to pieces. Right? And then I find
- 25:52Speaker 1: out you've known for a week about this threat on
- 25:55Speaker 1: your life. I also believe, I also think I could
- 25:59Speaker 1: never ever forgive Beth. You know what I mean? If
- 26:01Speaker 1: you think about it that way.
- 26:02Speaker 2: If you explain it like that, very true.
- 26:05Speaker 1: You know, because I was thinking like, oh, poor Cale.
- 26:06Speaker 1: But at the same time, it's like, you dumb fuck.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he picked the wrong side. He picked the king, bro. Yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Don't tell Slaney, like, here's the thing, right? It's trust.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It's a different version of trust. When you love someone,
- 26:25Speaker 1: you tell them everything. You know, especially if one of
- 26:29Speaker 1: their best friends is in danger.
- 26:30Speaker 2: What if it's like, maybe it was a passing comment, like, oh, no.
- 26:36Speaker 1: No, it wasn't. It wasn't part of the comic. The
- 26:38Speaker 1: king literally says, we've got intel. There's a threat on
- 26:42Speaker 1: the princess's life. And then Kael says, cool, I'll double
- 26:45Speaker 1: up her security.
- 26:46Speaker 2: He's known for a week, bro.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Anyways, what ends up happening is like, I think Kael's
- 26:55Speaker 1: a massive dick, right?
- 26:56Speaker 2: I think he's going to come good though. There's a
- 26:57Speaker 2: reason behind it.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Oh, fuck. We know the reason why he's a dick.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway, so he says- I'm going to go do
- 27:06Speaker 2: this thing.
- 27:07Speaker 1: They just save... Like, he basically has this injured person
- 27:10Speaker 1: with him and he's got to go take him to safety.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And then, for some reason, I can't remember how they
- 27:14Speaker 1: got there, but him and Slane are out on the
- 27:16Speaker 1: street walking and they're talking. And so, she is... He
- 27:22Speaker 1: basically says everything that's happened and then she's thinking in
- 27:25Speaker 1: her head, why didn't you get Dorian and Saoirse out
- 27:30Speaker 1: when you knew they were in danger? They didn't learn again.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You know?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Like.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Also.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Valid fucking point. It's almost like he doesn't have a backbone.
- 27:39Speaker 2: It's almost like this.
- 27:40Speaker 1: It's like, cause he, he thinks he, I remember reading
- 27:43Speaker 1: air of fire and him having an inner dialogue moment
- 27:45Speaker 1: of thinking I need to get them out. And he's like,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm going to plan to get them out. But for
- 27:48Speaker 1: some reason he's like, I'm going to plan to get
- 27:50Speaker 1: them out at the peak of the most. They should
- 27:54Speaker 1: have been out a week ago when, when I'm going
- 27:56Speaker 1: to get like, he can't make a decision is what
- 28:00Speaker 1: is what I think.
- 28:00Speaker 2: It's like a guy in a relationship who like goes, Oh,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I thought about buying flowers. Yeah. But I didn't.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like this. It's like.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I can understand someone maybe defending Kael for when Selene
- 28:16Speaker 1: blames him for Nehemia's death. Right? I can actually understand that.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Because how was he actually supposed to know? All he
- 28:23Speaker 1: knows is that there's been a threat, but maybe royals
- 28:26Speaker 1: get threatened all the time.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 1: But in this situation, like, he knows... that Dorian and
- 28:34Speaker 1: Saoirse are in the most danger. Did you not learn
- 28:39Speaker 1: from last time that what can happen? It's fool me once,
- 28:41Speaker 1: shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. It's
- 28:44Speaker 1: like Kael has actually made a mistake at this point.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Even though he doesn't know what's going to happen, it's
- 28:51Speaker 1: like if you have an inner dialogue moment of I
- 28:52Speaker 1: need to get them out of here, get them out
- 28:56Speaker 1: of here.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Do you think this is going to be another version
- 28:58Speaker 2: of like you hated Dorian?
- 29:01Speaker 1: No, I like Dorian now.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. And we like Kale.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I used to like Kale.
- 29:07Speaker 2: And now you hate Kale. Do you reckon we're going
- 29:10Speaker 2: to come around again?
- 29:11Speaker 1: I've had people telling me.
- 29:12Speaker 2: You're such a perfect reader.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I've had people telling me that Kale... Some people hated
- 29:20Speaker 1: him from the beginning and then throughout the whole series.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Some people were like me and kind of liked him,
- 29:24Speaker 1: then hated him, but then they think that in.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash. There's a bit
- 29:31Speaker 1: of a redemption there and they like him in the end.
- 29:33Speaker 1: So I think that knowing how much I liked him
- 29:35Speaker 1: at the start, there is a chance I'll like him
- 29:38Speaker 1: in the end, but right now. he's pissing me off.
- 29:43Speaker 2: From everything we're saying, it almost seems like there's going
- 29:45Speaker 2: to be one more decision and he makes the right
- 29:47Speaker 2: one and it saves everyone.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Oh my God, bro. I would still just be like,
- 29:50Speaker 1: and yeah, also, you're not forgiven. Thanks for making the
- 29:54Speaker 1: right decision, but like, thanks for just being normal. For
- 29:56Speaker 1: fuck's sakes. Yeah, basically... Selene is thinking in her head, yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 2: We know her predictions. He'll sacrifice himself and- And die?
- 30:04Speaker 2: And die for Nehemia to come back to life.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Good. Honestly, good.
- 30:09Speaker 2: That'd be sick. I used to be a kale lover.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah. I want him gone, bro. Kale, hey.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Get out of my fucking sight. Your best friend used
- 30:15Speaker 2: to be a kale, didn't he?
- 30:16Speaker 1: I used to have a really good friend named Kale.
- 30:18Speaker 2: His name was K-A-L-E, though.
- 30:24Speaker 1: So, he ends up saying that what's happened is that
- 30:28Speaker 1: he's joined the rebels and he each, there's like kind
- 30:32Speaker 1: of three or four separate little groups of rebels because
- 30:35Speaker 1: they've separated them around the city. And he is in
- 30:37Speaker 1: charge of like the slums. He's kind of like the
- 30:39Speaker 1: head rebel, the slums. And then they meet up with Islam.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I think there's like a different districts of the city
- 30:45Speaker 1: and they really, they try not to meet up at all. Right. And, um,
- 30:50Speaker 1: another thing that's happened is that, um, So he's got
- 30:58Speaker 1: a couple men in the castle that feed him information,
- 31:00Speaker 1: which is good. Also, he has sent, do we remember
- 31:06Speaker 1: the two lords from Heir of Fire from Tarasin, the
- 31:10Speaker 1: grandpa and the grandson? Yes, vaguely. So I believe he
- 31:14Speaker 1: sent the grandson away because one time they did kind
- 31:21Speaker 1: of get cornered by some of these guards with the rings.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And they only targeted the grandson because he's from Terrace
- 31:27Speaker 1: and it has magic in his blood. And so he said, well,
- 31:30Speaker 1: that's fucked. So he sent them to go get the
- 31:32Speaker 1: rebels all together in Terrace. So Selena finds out that
- 31:36Speaker 1: he's like, oh my God, what's his, I can't remember
- 31:38Speaker 1: his name, but she's like, oh my God, he's alive.
- 31:41Speaker 1: And she's like, thank God. Another, she goes, it's crazy.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Another child of Terrace is still, you know, alive. And
- 31:47Speaker 1: so they get in a huge fight and then Kale
- 31:52Speaker 1: ends up like, blaming Selina for everything that's currently happening
- 31:58Speaker 1: in Rifthold.
- 32:00Speaker 2: He goes, are you fucking dumb? He goes, why'd you
- 32:04Speaker 2: come back?
- 32:05Speaker 1: She's like, what do you mean why'd I come back?
- 32:07Speaker 1: And he goes, did you bring an army? She goes,
- 32:10Speaker 1: did I bring an army?
- 32:11Speaker 2: No. He's like, well, what the fuck are you going
- 32:15Speaker 2: to do on your own? You went out there, you
- 32:18Speaker 2: put your powers on display for everyone.
- 32:21Speaker 1: And what do you think kicked the king off to
- 32:23Speaker 1: do all this shit? And she's like You can't.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Blame me for this You sent me to Wendelin But
- 32:27Speaker 2: I think Kayle It's like abandonment issues You fucking sent
- 32:31Speaker 2: her there Although yeah he's wrong And then he's like I.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Sent you there for your safety And she's like Kayle
- 32:36Speaker 3: Fuck off That's how I was feeling This is I
- 32:39Speaker 3: read this I read this chapter And then I made
- 32:41Speaker 3: that video Where I was like Who's this guy I
- 32:43Speaker 3: think he is Yeah yeah yeah Fucking I hated him
- 32:46Speaker 3: after this chapter Anyway So Kayle is basically Comparing her
- 32:50Speaker 3: to like The king He's like So you come back
- 32:54Speaker 3: You want to fucking blah, blah, blah, make magic back again.
- 32:57Speaker 3: And then what you want to just like flame the
- 32:59Speaker 3: entire city and restart and then just be a fucking
- 33:02Speaker 3: ruler yourself.
- 33:03Speaker 1: And she's like, what? And what he does is he
- 33:07Speaker 1: calls her a monster because he like, Kale's like hella
- 33:10Speaker 1: racist to people with magic and she's realizing it. Right.
- 33:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, fuck this guy. Fuck him. Honestly,
- 33:17Speaker 1: it's a lot. It's like, fuck this guy. And then
- 33:20Speaker 1: he has an inner dialogue moment. Of him being terrified
- 33:23Speaker 1: of the power she has and shit. And I was
- 33:25Speaker 1: just thinking.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Is this, like, how much of a bitch she actually is?
- 33:27Speaker 1: I think so, yeah. And, like, he's... I think what
- 33:29Speaker 1: he is terrified of is that he's seen her kill
- 33:34Speaker 1: very easily. And... But he saw.
- 33:38Speaker 2: That before she had a power.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah. And so, he's got these things where... Yeah, I
- 33:43Speaker 1: just don't think that his feelings are valid. And I
- 33:46Speaker 1: think that he is just a... It's, like, the way
- 33:51Speaker 1: that most men have, like, this... deep-rooted misogyny in them
- 33:54Speaker 1: he has like a deep-rooted racism but towards.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Magic wielders i think yeah i think i kale depicts
- 34:01Speaker 2: like men perfectly and almost yeah he's threatened now that
- 34:05Speaker 2: he knows he's less powerful less yeah less strong than selena.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Yeah and he's like also a good way that he
- 34:12Speaker 1: depicts men is the same way of like let's go
- 34:14Speaker 1: with say male silence type of thing he goes well
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's like, I mean, I, you know, I'm just born
- 34:20Speaker 1: into this world. This is like my court type of thing.
- 34:22Speaker 1: My first time living. So my first time living, you know,
- 34:24Speaker 1: I'm just doing the thing. Like in my eyes, I'm
- 34:27Speaker 1: serving the person I'm supposed to be serving. I'm told
- 34:29Speaker 1: to be serving, but I know it's wrong, but I'm
- 34:30Speaker 1: not going to say anything because what can I do
- 34:32Speaker 1: type of thing.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Oh, and then Selena returns to her apartment. She finds
- 34:37Speaker 1: people have been there and Arabin has unpacked her stuff
- 34:41Speaker 1: because he's a fucking psycho weirdo. And he, she ends
- 34:45Speaker 1: up writing him a letter saying, I'll accept your help
- 34:47Speaker 1: to get aid. He's like, I'm going to need this
- 34:48Speaker 1: guy's help. Fuck's sakes.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Didn't he like gift her like some assassin's clothes again?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Something like that. That definitely happens. But also, I think
- 34:59Speaker 1: she's like, why were you meeting Arabin tonight to Kael?
- 35:02Speaker 1: And he goes, oh, none of your business. She's like,
- 35:05Speaker 1: what do you mean? Tell me. Eventually, he says, I
- 35:07Speaker 1: was asking him if he could.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Kill the king. Like, you know, you're Arabin.
- 35:12Speaker 1: King of assassins. Broski, can you fucking off this king?
- 35:15Speaker 2: I know what Kael's doing, but it almost seems like
- 35:17Speaker 2: Kael's being told to join the rebels and almost be
- 35:22Speaker 2: like the intel to the king and feed it back.
- 35:24Speaker 1: It's giving, but we know that didn't happen at the
- 35:26Speaker 1: same time, right? But it's giving that. It's giving that. Yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Also, I just have this feeling that the king knows
- 35:34Speaker 1: everything at all times, but just is like buying time
- 35:37Speaker 1: for some reason. Mm-hmm. You know what I mean? I
- 35:39Speaker 1: don't know. Chapter 8, we get a Manon chapter. Thoughts
- 35:44Speaker 1: on Manon?
- 35:45Speaker 2: We actually went on Manon, a podcast, a court of
- 35:51Speaker 2: books and babes, a lovely Canadian podcast, and we were
- 35:55Speaker 2: talking all about ACOTAR.
- 35:59Speaker 1: And a little bit of.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Throne of Glass. And they said Manon turns into like
- 36:02Speaker 2: the best character ever.
- 36:03Speaker 1: They said best character Sergio Mas has ever written. Yes.
- 36:06Speaker 1: And I was like not feeling that was going to happen.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Neither did I. But I don't know if I said
- 36:11Speaker 1: this in the last book, but I do have a
- 36:12Speaker 1: feeling that Manon, I don't know if this is right
- 36:14Speaker 1: or not, but I have a feeling she changes sides.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you can tell because she hates Duke Parrington. Yes, bro.
- 36:20Speaker 2: And she can tell something's wrong with him. Mm-hmm. But also,
- 36:22Speaker 2: although the witch, the 13 clans, I've had trouble keeping
- 36:26Speaker 2: up with everything that's going on with that.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 36:28Speaker 2: To be honest. But I do really like her character
- 36:30Speaker 2: and she's got, she's like the ruler of them and
- 36:32Speaker 2: she's got a good heart. She's definitely going to switch sides.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Yeah, she's the heir to one of the clans. She
- 36:41Speaker 1: seems that she's going to switch sides. As of right now,
- 36:44Speaker 1: I find her chapters a bit boring. But that's fair.
- 36:47Speaker 2: I think it's just the dialogue to understand her mindset
- 36:50Speaker 2: and why she's going to change or what happens. But
- 36:52Speaker 2: we know she's a weapon. She's like the best Wyvern rider.
- 36:55Speaker 2: She's the best rider.
- 36:57Speaker 1: She's also just a beast. She has a nickname.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I don't have any picture in my head, do you?
- 37:01Speaker 2: I'm thinking just like a black cloaked person.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I was thinking black hair, red cloak because she talks
- 37:06Speaker 1: about this red cloak she got from a croak and
- 37:09Speaker 1: witch or whatever a while back and then she had
- 37:10Speaker 1: to kill another one last book. But I kept thinking
- 37:15Speaker 1: black hair. And I was picturing sort of Nesta, right? Yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Not for any reason of connections, I think, there, even
- 37:22Speaker 1: though the podcast we went on thinks there's a connection there.
- 37:26Speaker 1: So I was just thinking more along the lines of
- 37:27Speaker 1: black hair, beautiful, stunning. They talk about how beautiful they are.
- 37:31Speaker 1: But in this one, she's got blonde hair. Yeah, right. Yeah, Madden's, like,
- 37:35Speaker 1: full blonde.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yeah. And I also struggle to picture a witch being good-looking.
- 37:40Speaker 2: So do I.
- 37:40Speaker 1: It should be ugly. Just because of, like, fucking the
- 37:42Speaker 1: Wizard of Oz and shit.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Yeah, give me, like, the hideous thing I've ever seen.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I know.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Like, that's better for a witch.
- 37:47Speaker 1: I know.
- 37:47Speaker 2: She'd have, like, warts and shit. I picture a witch
- 37:50Speaker 2: with huge nose, wart off the side of her face,
- 37:52Speaker 2: big fucking pointy hat, short, bit round.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?
- 37:57Speaker 2: Like, not beautiful. Imagine that's, like, the best witch of
- 38:00Speaker 2: all time. It probably is, bro. But, like, and then, like,
- 38:05Speaker 2: to be fair, like, imagine she is beautiful, but she
- 38:07Speaker 2: puts that ugly spell on herself.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 1: That would be cool. That'd be cool. Anyway, so, Manon
- 38:12Speaker 1: and her 13th. are stationed at Morath, and that's Duke
- 38:16Speaker 1: Parrington's mountain stronghold. They hear just like screams and stuff
- 38:21Speaker 1: coming from within the mountains, and they're like, oh, what
- 38:23Speaker 1: the hell's going on here? They say everything smells bad,
- 38:26Speaker 1: all the meat's bad. They have to go hunt their
- 38:27Speaker 1: own food because they don't want their wyverns to eat it.
- 38:30Speaker 1: And then Joseph hates Duke Parrington. He's got a collar
- 38:34Speaker 1: around his neck. And we find out Caltaine's there, Lady Caltaine.
- 38:39Speaker 1: And she just looks fucking sick, bro.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I'm surprised she's not dead i.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Know she just looks sick and she just is all
- 38:45Speaker 1: bruised and beat up and i feel terrible for kaltan
- 38:48Speaker 1: um and then astrin which is manon's second her second
- 38:52Speaker 1: in command they have a bit of an argument and
- 38:54Speaker 1: astrin wishes for them to take the wyverns and just
- 38:57Speaker 1: leave she's like we've got the wyverns now why are
- 38:58Speaker 1: we just sitting here being pawns let's just fucking go
- 39:01Speaker 1: bro and um manon her grandmother who is the um
- 39:07Speaker 1: just in charge of all the Black Beaks. Is it
- 39:11Speaker 1: the Black Beaks? I don't know, of her clan. She,
- 39:15Speaker 1: very strict, can absolutely fuck Madden up if she needs to.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And she just says like, you know, don't disappoint me.
- 39:22Speaker 1: So Madden is also sort of stuck between a rock
- 39:25Speaker 1: and a hard place because I think she's, I feel
- 39:29Speaker 1: like she's thinking she knows what's the right thing to do,
- 39:32Speaker 1: but she also thinks like she has sort of like
- 39:35Speaker 1: Kale where he feels like she owes her grandmother something
- 39:42Speaker 1: or because of just tradition and all this type of stuff,
- 39:44Speaker 1: you know. Chapter nine, Selina wakes up one morning. And
- 39:50Speaker 1: then there's a horse and carriage outside. She's like, the fuck?
- 39:54Speaker 1: Ain't nobody around here can afford a horse and carriage
- 39:55Speaker 1: unless they probably know who I am. Goes down, opens
- 39:58Speaker 1: a warehouse door. She goes, take one step and I'll
- 40:00Speaker 1: kill you. Classic Slane. Anyway, someone walks out, a woman
- 40:05Speaker 1: and a child walk out. And the woman is Lysandra. So,
- 40:08Speaker 1: Lysandra is from... We meet Lysandra in Assassin's Blade. Yeah.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Who was she? And she is... She was young, same
- 40:22Speaker 1: age as Selayna, basically, and she was being raised and
- 40:26Speaker 1: groomed into a courtesan, a prostitute.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yes, I remember now, yep.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And do you remember that, like, she finally hits age
- 40:34Speaker 1: and then Erebon spends all the money that Selayna used
- 40:37Speaker 1: to buy out her own slavery to Erebon or whatever, and, like,
- 40:40Speaker 1: Erebon buys Lysandra, basically. And then, yeah, and Lysandra and Selayna.
- 40:48Speaker 1: hate each other or hated each other at least. And
- 40:51Speaker 1: so she walks up and Lysandra's like, yo, yo, yo.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Selene goes, well, I seem to remember the last time
- 40:57Speaker 1: I saw you. I promised you if I ever saw
- 40:59Speaker 1: you again, I was going to kill you. So you
- 41:00Speaker 1: better start talking or else I'm going to start slinging.
- 41:06Speaker 1: And she also is like, oh, Erebin's testing me. He
- 41:09Speaker 1: sent me a gift. He's testing me. If I kill her,
- 41:12Speaker 1: then I feel like he gets what he wants. Maybe
- 41:16Speaker 1: I won't kill her. She's got all these thoughts going
- 41:18Speaker 1: on in her head. And so, they go inside and
- 41:21Speaker 1: Lysandra's talking to her and she's got this young child,
- 41:23Speaker 1: by the way. And she brings a letter from Arobin's
- 41:27Speaker 1: old bodyguard, Wesley. Wesley is the one that always hated Slayna.
- 41:31Speaker 1: This bodyguard always hated Slayna. Anyway. And so, Wesley has
- 41:36Speaker 1: this letter and Lysandra says, like, basically, Lysandra's double-crossing Arobin.
- 41:43Speaker 1: I don't know if he knows she's going to do
- 41:44Speaker 1: this or not, but Arobin... So, Wesley... ends up after
- 41:51Speaker 1: Selene gets taken away and Erebon buys Lysandra. Over time,
- 41:56Speaker 1: Wesley would like give Lysandra lifts back to the courtesan
- 42:00Speaker 1: house and they ended up falling in love. And then
- 42:05Speaker 1: I don't know why, but for some reason Erebon kills Wesley.
- 42:08Speaker 1: I can't remember why, but Wesley had written down everything
- 42:13Speaker 1: Erebon had done in the lead up and everything he
- 42:18Speaker 1: asked Farron Rourke or Rourke Farron or whatever his name
- 42:21Speaker 1: is to do to Sam when he tortured and killed
- 42:24Speaker 1: him and Lysandra brings this letter to Selina and Selina's
- 42:29Speaker 1: like fuck this really really puts a spanner in the
- 42:31Speaker 1: works but she always keeps saying but that's okay it's
- 42:34Speaker 1: okay I can still keep doing what I gotta do
- 42:35Speaker 1: anyway and then oh and also oh Wesley planned to
- 42:44Speaker 1: rescue her from Endovia but then he got killed I
- 42:47Speaker 1: don't know. I can't remember why Erebon killed Wesley, but
- 42:49Speaker 1: he did. Right. And then, so Selene is like still
- 42:53Speaker 1: kind of like, fuck, I hate Lysandra, blah, blah, blah.
- 42:56Speaker 1: She's all in her head and she goes, right, you
- 42:57Speaker 1: need to get the fuck out of my house. And
- 42:59Speaker 1: then this young girl, her name's Evangeline. She finds out.
- 43:04Speaker 1: So Evangeline tells Selene that because Evangeline has these scars
- 43:10Speaker 1: on her face, she says to Selene, like Lysandra gave
- 43:14Speaker 1: me these scars and Selene is like, the fuck? She goes,
- 43:18Speaker 1: I was picked up by the courtesans and I was
- 43:21Speaker 1: going to be, you know, turned into Lysandra who hates
- 43:25Speaker 1: her life. And I was gonna, you know, I had
- 43:30Speaker 1: no choice. They were going to turn me into a courtesan.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I really didn't want to do that. I tried to run,
- 43:33Speaker 1: but they caught me and Lysandra knew the only way
- 43:36Speaker 1: to get out of it was to basically look like
- 43:39Speaker 1: damaged goods. Like don't make me look ugly, make me
- 43:42Speaker 1: look ugly. So she scarred her face. And then Selena's
- 43:45Speaker 1: kind of like, dang, Lysandra's actually not that bad. Even
- 43:47Speaker 1: though she scarred the young girl's face.
- 43:49Speaker 2: A dub in the long run though.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Chapter 10. Dorian goes to visit Aiden. I gotta
- 43:56Speaker 1: say Aiden. Aiden in the cells. And they're talking and
- 44:00Speaker 1: Aiden realizes that he's like, whoa, what the fuck's going
- 44:02Speaker 1: on with Dorian here? He clearly has no control over himself.
- 44:06Speaker 1: He starts to say things like, Dorian, what are you doing? Dorian,
- 44:10Speaker 1: what happened to Saoirse? Do you remember Saoirse's head getting
- 44:14Speaker 1: cut off? It's like he understands he's possessed and he's
- 44:18Speaker 1: trying to get him to come out. And he realizes
- 44:21Speaker 1: he can't help him. And then Dorian, or the Valk
- 44:25Speaker 1: prince that's possessing Dorian, he realizes Aiden's injured. So he says,
- 44:30Speaker 1: tend to this motherfucker's wounds. And Aiden's like, fuck, damn it.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Get a healer down there. Damn it. I don't want
- 44:37Speaker 2: Aiden to die.
- 44:38Speaker 1: No, I don't want him to die, but. And I know, like,
- 44:42Speaker 1: obviously he's going to be, you know, he's going to
- 44:43Speaker 1: make it. Yeah. But I was also like, fuck. Chapter 11.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Another thing Lysander actually spoke to Selene about was Erebon's
- 44:51Speaker 1: plan to save Aiden, by the way. That was one thing.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Cool.
- 44:54Speaker 1: And also, and she says, like, it's genius. Erebon's a genius. Anyway.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Chapter 11. Selene finds Kael and Nesrin at this place
- 45:04Speaker 1: called the Shadow Markets, I think. And they've gone in
- 45:06Speaker 1: and And Brulo and Ress, who are two captain guards
- 45:09Speaker 1: that are still part of the captain's guard, they have
- 45:12Speaker 1: set up a stall and they've used it as like
- 45:14Speaker 1: a bit of a decoy so Kael can go talk
- 45:15Speaker 1: to them without any guards noticing. And that's how he
- 45:18Speaker 1: gets information about the king and what's going on in
- 45:21Speaker 1: the castle. And Selina sneaks up on them and is like, yo, yo, yo.
- 45:26Speaker 1: And Kael's kind of like, fuck, like this bitch, she's
- 45:30Speaker 1: fucking following us. Everywhere.
- 45:33Speaker 2: And then.
- 45:36Speaker 1: She says to them, all right, look, because Kael and
- 45:43Speaker 1: the rebels play a part in helping Aedan. And so
- 45:46Speaker 1: she says, oh, Brûlô, just want to give you a
- 45:50Speaker 1: heads up. All the guards that you trust, get them
- 45:54Speaker 1: to wear a little red flower on the day of
- 45:56Speaker 1: Dorian's birthday, all right? And they're kind of like, what?
- 45:59Speaker 1: And she's like, just do it, all right? Just do it.
- 46:02Speaker 1: And then Kale realizes like she's going to go in
- 46:04Speaker 1: there killing motherfuckers. So fuck me. Chapter 12. Manon is
- 46:10Speaker 1: summoned to Duke Parrington's office. Yep. And she's like, fuck
- 46:14Speaker 1: this motherfucker. Who's this human summoning me? I should just
- 46:17Speaker 1: fucking go in and rip his fucking throat out right now.
- 46:19Speaker 1: And I was thinking, please do, Manon. But she's not some,
- 46:24Speaker 1: she's like, I'm not some immature little child. I can
- 46:27Speaker 1: be patient. She said, she actually says, we'll win this
- 46:30Speaker 1: war for them. They can give us our lands back.
- 46:34Speaker 1: And then in 10 years time, like not even in
- 46:37Speaker 1: like fucking a few years time, the humans die anyway.
- 46:41Speaker 1: And then it will just reset and it will be
- 46:43Speaker 1: like it never happened. Yes. That's how long.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Witch voodoo stuff.
- 46:47Speaker 1: That's how long the witches live for. Anywho, they go
- 46:51Speaker 1: in and she's like, fuck you. And Duke Parrington's there
- 46:56Speaker 1: and someone else is there. Some Lord from somewhere. And
- 47:01Speaker 1: he goes, yo, Manon, just want to let you know,
- 47:06Speaker 1: I need one of your witches. Or like a few.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I need some of your witches, right? Because I want
- 47:17Speaker 1: to breed them with the Valk. And she's like, what
- 47:22Speaker 1: are you talking about? She says, no, bro. That's heinous.
- 47:27Speaker 1: And he goes, hey, the witch is... Only became a
- 47:31Speaker 1: thing in the first place because of the fucking Valg
- 47:34Speaker 1: and the Fae back in the day breeding. And then
- 47:38Speaker 1: came the witches. She goes, use your humans. He goes, no, no, no.
- 47:42Speaker 1: You got Valg blood in your veins. It's going to
- 47:44Speaker 1: work way better.
- 47:45Speaker 2: The audiobook too, like, Duke Pankton's, like, so, like, condescending.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 47:50Speaker 2: And, like, this is the way.
- 47:52Speaker 1: The only way. He sounds like such a fucker, eh?
- 47:55Speaker 1: He's wearing a collar.
- 47:57Speaker 2: So, I wonder if he.
- 47:59Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure... I wonder if Duke Parrington's actually a
- 48:03Speaker 1: nice guy. Because he's purely possessed.
- 48:06Speaker 2: He's been possessed the whole time.
- 48:07Speaker 1: He's purely possessed by a Valk prince right now. And
- 48:09Speaker 1: another thing we know about one of the other commanders
- 48:12Speaker 1: that had a collar in Wendelin that Selene kills is
- 48:15Speaker 1: that when she does end up fucking him up enough,
- 48:19Speaker 1: she said that she can see in his eyes that
- 48:21Speaker 1: the Valk prince is kind of fucked off and the
- 48:24Speaker 1: commander turns back into himself for a second and is like, Please,
- 48:27Speaker 1: please end this. Please kill me.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Well, I think that could be why he's keeping Lady
- 48:31Speaker 2: Kaltan around because he actually loves her. And like there's
- 48:33Speaker 2: a little part of him that like is like keeping
- 48:36Speaker 2: her alive even though he's treating her like absolute shit.
- 48:38Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Was it him?
- 48:40Speaker 1: I have a feeling he rapes her. Maybe that's wrong.
- 48:43Speaker 1: But does he do it with a collar on?
- 48:47Speaker 2: Yeah. We didn't know if that was right. It was
- 48:48Speaker 2: like alluding to.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I believe it's very heavily implied. Okay. Yeah. Which is rough.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Because that would be nice if it was the other
- 48:55Speaker 2: way around.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:56Speaker 2: I love her so much. I'm just keeping her like.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah. It would be nice, but I don't know if
- 49:01Speaker 1: that's the case. I don't know if that's the case. Anyway,
- 49:06Speaker 1: she's like, bro, no, that's fucking, just that's heinous, bro.
- 49:12Speaker 1: And so then Astrid's kind of, again, having an argument
- 49:15Speaker 1: with Manon.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Does he mean like that as fuck?
- 49:18Speaker 1: Is that what he's implying? He's saying like, that we're
- 49:20Speaker 1: mating them yeah like fucking yeah crazy um Astrin Manon's
- 49:26Speaker 1: second she's all up in arms yeah Manon goes I
- 49:30Speaker 1: fucking told you act like this you're done she grabs
- 49:35Speaker 1: it by the throat she says you're fucking done you're
- 49:37Speaker 1: now my third fuck off go tell Sorrel she's my
- 49:39Speaker 1: second sorrel's this other one really good witch and then
- 49:42Speaker 1: um manon goes into her room and there's a little
- 49:47Speaker 1: fucking servant in there who's got like a broken ankle
- 49:50Speaker 1: that's healed that way and just hobbles around and shit
- 49:52Speaker 1: i was like okay weird details and um she goes doing.
- 49:56Speaker 5: There adelaide adelaide doing there and the little girl's like
- 50:02Speaker 5: oh sorry sorry sorry she's cleaning out her fire or
- 50:04Speaker 5: something She's talking to a man and a man is
- 50:06Speaker 5: sussing her out.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Blah, blah, blah. Finds out that other dude that was
- 50:09Speaker 1: in the office with Duke Parrington, right? The Lord. The
- 50:13Speaker 1: servant is his daughter. She's like, what are you doing here?
- 50:16Speaker 1: She goes, this bitch is a spy, bro.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Has to be.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Spy, bro.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Now, man is a bit slow, but I don't know though.
- 50:25Speaker 1: I don't know though because of this, ready? She leaves, right?
- 50:30Speaker 1: She tells the fucking little, her name's Alide. She's like,
- 50:34Speaker 1: fuck off now. I don't need you in my room.
- 50:37Speaker 1: And then she's like, rightio. She goes, definitely a spy
- 50:41Speaker 1: for Duke and the Lord, right? And then she goes,
- 50:45Speaker 1: at the end, that she could smell the witch blood
- 50:50Speaker 1: in a lead. So, a lead is a witch. So,
- 50:54Speaker 1: that's something.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Why doesn't it use her?
- 50:57Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, I think Madden's actually pretty smart.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I reckon Madden's a beast. I'm so keen to see
- 51:01Speaker 1: her character trope. Chapter 13. Um, Selander gets caught to
- 51:05Speaker 1: Assassin's Keep. She rocks up. They chat her and Erebon. Basically,
- 51:09Speaker 1: Erebon just playing full mind games and Selander fully just goes,
- 51:13Speaker 1: can I be honest with you? Can't really be bothered
- 51:16Speaker 1: with the mind games right now. Like, what's the deal?
- 51:18Speaker 2: Legit.
- 51:18Speaker 1: And then, um, he's like, he like plays mind games
- 51:21Speaker 1: again or whatever. And she's like, no, I'm like dead set.
- 51:22Speaker 1: And he's like, okay, fair enough. That was boring anyway.
- 51:24Speaker 1: And we don't really learn anything apart from the fact
- 51:26Speaker 1: that he just wants to fuck her. Like, He goes up.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Where's the timer?
- 51:29Speaker 1: I know. He, like, straight up is... He, like, says,
- 51:32Speaker 1: I love you and shit again and then goes up and, like,
- 51:35Speaker 1: nearly kisses her on the lips and stuff.
- 51:37Speaker 2: I have trouble, like, picturing Erebon as a creep for
- 51:39Speaker 2: some reason.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 2: He really fucking is.
- 51:41Speaker 1: I know.
- 51:42Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 51:43Speaker 1: At this point, she is wearing that gear. So, remember
- 51:45Speaker 1: that sick uniform she got in Assassin's Blade? Yep. He
- 51:49Speaker 1: sends it to her and she puts it on and
- 51:51Speaker 1: there's been some new stuff put onto it and it
- 51:53Speaker 1: fits better. And he says, like, yeah, you feel it
- 51:55Speaker 1: out better than when you were 17. And I was like, bro,
- 51:57Speaker 1: that's so weird.
- 51:58Speaker 2: So creepy. It's so weird to say.
- 52:00Speaker 1: He's like, tells her, you know, everyone, you can still
- 52:03Speaker 1: use all my facilities if need be type of shit.
- 52:05Speaker 1: And I was like, bro, just chill. Legit.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Just fucking chill, bro. He's like fucking that creepy 40-year-old
- 52:12Speaker 2: people work with.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And then Lysandra visits again, right? And they end up
- 52:18Speaker 1: having a bit of a DNM and she was always
- 52:20Speaker 1: jealous of Selena, blah, blah, blah. Arabian used Lysandra against Selena.
- 52:23Speaker 1: She's like, I was always jealous of you.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Cool, cool, cool.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Whatevs. They end up being like, Friends? And then they go, friends, cool.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Now she's got a friend that's a woman again. And
- 52:31Speaker 1: I was like, you know what? Heck, Nick.
- 52:33Speaker 2: They can chatty-chitty-chat about stuff. And do you reckon Lysandra
- 52:36Speaker 2: doesn't have any vendetta against her at all?
- 52:42Speaker 1: Or, so I actually put a video, not a video,
- 52:44Speaker 1: I put a photo on my TikTok. And I wrote
- 52:49Speaker 1: on it, if Lysandra betrays Selena, I'm DNFing this book.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:54Speaker 1: I'm not finishing the series if Lysandra goes on to fucking...
- 52:57Speaker 1: Betray Selene.
- 52:58Speaker 2: There is so much double crossing in this book. And
- 53:00Speaker 2: it pisses me off. Like, Selene can't handle more loss, bro.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I think it's going to happen.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Fuck's sakes, man. Chapter 14. Kao and Selene, they're doing
- 53:11Speaker 1: their thing. They're kind of planning. They're all sitting on
- 53:14Speaker 1: a rooftop for some reason. They're planning like something to
- 53:19Speaker 1: do with Aiden's escape. And he goes, you're not touching Dorian.
- 53:24Speaker 1: She goes, well, first of all, Should have got him
- 53:27Speaker 1: out of there before he got the fucking collar on him.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Second of all, that's not Dorian anymore, you dumb fuck.
- 53:33Speaker 2: But he's in there, Jake. But he's in there. He's
- 53:35Speaker 2: in there.
- 53:36Speaker 1: And she's like.
- 53:36Speaker 2: He's my best friend.
- 53:37Speaker 1: She's like, bro, the best thing I could do for
- 53:40Speaker 1: Dorian is kill him. And he's like, you're not fucking
- 53:45Speaker 1: touching him. You're not touching him, Miss Elena. He's my king.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Dorian's my real king. She's like, go suck him off then,
- 53:53Speaker 1: you fucking weirdo.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Daddy Dorian.
- 53:55Speaker 1: And then... She kind of has this realization. She goes, oh,
- 54:00Speaker 1: word marks still work. What if the king uses all
- 54:03Speaker 1: the entrances, puts word marks at all the entrances and
- 54:06Speaker 1: links them to her blood and Aiden's blood? So whenever
- 54:09Speaker 1: they walk through a doorway, they'll be stuck there until
- 54:11Speaker 1: they can get captured. And then she goes, if I
- 54:14Speaker 1: had my books from my room in the castle, I'd
- 54:16Speaker 1: be able to figure this out. And he goes, I
- 54:17Speaker 1: have them. He does say that he takes them.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:23Speaker 1: So that wasn't just like a random thing. Like we
- 54:25Speaker 1: knew he had them. But he goes, oh, I got them.
- 54:27Speaker 1: She's like, oh, sick. Thanks for letting me know. You
- 54:29Speaker 1: fuck with. Like a stalker. I've got them. I've got them, mate. Right.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Chapter 15. Aiden is getting picked up and prepared for
- 54:42Speaker 1: his execution. And then what they're going to do is
- 54:45Speaker 1: they're going to kill him with his own sword, the
- 54:46Speaker 1: sword of Orenth. And he's like, oh, come on, guys.
- 54:48Speaker 1: It's a bit of a fucking low blow. Anywho.
- 54:52Speaker 2: I thought, is he going to play a part in something?
- 54:55Speaker 1: Chapter 16.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Selina.
- 54:59Speaker 1: We're now like, we're getting Aiden out, by the way, now.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Selina disguises herself as a dancer, right? One of Florine's dancers.
- 55:08Speaker 1: And you have to remember, she used to get lessons
- 55:10Speaker 1: from Florine. And Florine was very good to her. She
- 55:12Speaker 1: didn't charge her for the lessons and she would let
- 55:14Speaker 1: her play a piano. Now, keep that in mind.
- 55:16Speaker 2: So.
- 55:17Speaker 1: She disguises herself as one of Florian's dancers. Florian knows
- 55:20Speaker 1: about this. She knows that Aiden's getting captured. And so,
- 55:23Speaker 1: what is happening is she's disguised as a dancer and
- 55:26Speaker 1: then she is getting... She's in line and like everyone's
- 55:31Speaker 1: getting kind of like tallied off going into the castle, right?
- 55:33Speaker 1: For Dorian's birthday. Big, big, big event. Big event. And
- 55:36Speaker 1: it's also Aiden's execution. So, it's a huge event. So,
- 55:38Speaker 1: everyone's getting like tallied off. Everything's on the books and stuff.
- 55:40Speaker 1: And then they get to the doorway and she sees
- 55:42Speaker 1: a little word mark. She's like, oh, that motherfucker did
- 55:44Speaker 1: use word marks. And so... She somehow, she like pretends
- 55:49Speaker 1: one of the other dancers hit her and Selena starts crying.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Florine comes over, reprimands. And then Selena's like, I need water,
- 55:56Speaker 1: I need water. And then a guard wearing a flower
- 56:01Speaker 1: goes and gets her some water and gets her a
- 56:03Speaker 1: bucket of water. And that's the best he could do.
- 56:05Speaker 1: She's like, oh, thank you, thank you. And then they
- 56:06Speaker 1: get up and they go and they're getting ticked off,
- 56:08Speaker 1: ticked off, ticked off. And then as she gets to
- 56:10Speaker 1: the doorway, she pretends to trip and fall and spill
- 56:13Speaker 1: the water and it washes away the worldwide.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so I listened to this and I went back
- 56:17Speaker 2: and listened again. I was like, why the fuck does
- 56:18Speaker 2: water wash away a word mark? I was like, that
- 56:21Speaker 2: can't be right. And I went back and listened. I
- 56:22Speaker 2: was like, what the fuck?
- 56:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you just, you draw them with like chalk.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I was picturing like you scratch it and like
- 56:26Speaker 2: inside like the stone or the walls and you can't
- 56:29Speaker 2: get rid of it.
- 56:29Speaker 1: The fact that water can get rid of them, bro.
- 56:32Speaker 5: Heinous.
- 56:32Speaker 2: Fucking rub it with your shirt, mate. What the fuck
- 56:34Speaker 2: are you talking about?
- 56:35Speaker 1: Like, why don't you just fucking put a shoe on
- 56:36Speaker 1: it and go.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Like, fuck sake. At least have like a spell of
- 56:41Speaker 2: water or something. Make it fucking interesting.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 56:43Speaker 2: We're in now, by the way.
- 56:44Speaker 1: Holy water. We're in.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. And then we're in, and the dancers are
- 56:49Speaker 1: all kind of like, I believe they're in the middle
- 56:50Speaker 1: of this big ballroom type thing.
- 56:52Speaker 2: That's what I'm picturing at least. And they're all wearing black, blah, blah, blah.
- 56:54Speaker 1: And Florine, the dance coach, she goes and she gives
- 56:57Speaker 1: each one of them like this black crystal flower or
- 57:00Speaker 1: whatever it is. I don't know what it is. And
- 57:02Speaker 1: then she gives all of them one except for Selena.
- 57:04Speaker 1: And it looks as if she's just like teaching Selena
- 57:07Speaker 1: so everyone doesn't get sus. She says to Selena, you
- 57:09Speaker 1: just watch this time. And so then she can now
- 57:11Speaker 1: slip away. So the dancers start dancing. Selena slips away, right?
- 57:16Speaker 1: I'm probably not going to go through any chapters now.
- 57:18Speaker 1: We're just going to go straight from 16 to 19. Yep.
- 57:21Speaker 1: We finished on 19 and she slips away. Dancers are dancing.
- 57:25Speaker 2: Everything's beautiful.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Music is music and blah, blah, blah. She swings around, blah, blah, blah.
- 57:29Speaker 1: She's kind of joined. She is like slipping through the
- 57:31Speaker 1: crowd unnoticed. Aiden sees her from his, wherever he is.
- 57:37Speaker 2: He's chained up.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Guards everywhere. And then the dancers are dancing. She's slipping in,
- 57:42Speaker 1: slipping out. She's like getting up close to where Aiden is, right?
- 57:45Speaker 1: And then, Um, the dancers finished their dance with these, they,
- 57:50Speaker 1: they throw these crystals on the ground in unison, but Selena,
- 57:55Speaker 1: while she was at the shadow market with Kael and
- 57:57Speaker 1: Nezrin that first time telling the guards about the flowers
- 57:59Speaker 1: to where the flowers, she picked up this stuff and
- 58:03Speaker 1: made the crystals. And she picked up this stuff that
- 58:05Speaker 1: when it gets thrown on the ground or whatever, it's
- 58:08Speaker 1: smoke everywhere. So the crystals get thrown and then it's pandemonium.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Cool.
- 58:13Speaker 1: And then Selena starts off in the guards and, And
- 58:16Speaker 1: then she gets to Aiden and also he's realized what's happening.
- 58:19Speaker 1: So he was sitting on a stool, breaks it. He
- 58:21Speaker 1: kills a couple of guards himself. Cause he's a beast.
- 58:23Speaker 2: He's a fucking weapon.
- 58:24Speaker 1: She gets over there, uses word mark magic to get
- 58:26Speaker 1: the chains off him.
- 58:28Speaker 2: He's like injured.
- 58:30Speaker 1: She picks up the sword of Orinth. All right. He says,
- 58:32Speaker 1: go get it, whatever. And then she's like, puts a
- 58:34Speaker 1: hood over his head and she's like getting him out
- 58:35Speaker 1: of there. The king's kind of like booming voices going everywhere,
- 58:38Speaker 1: still smoke everywhere. Everyone's in mayhem. And then she goes,
- 58:41Speaker 1: I need to create more mayhem. She goes, it's a fire,
- 58:44Speaker 1: it's a fire. Everyone's running out.
- 58:46Speaker 2: People are breaking the windows. Everything's getting broken in the
- 58:48Speaker 2: glass castle.
- 58:49Speaker 1: She's running out, running out. She dips in and then
- 58:53Speaker 1: she gets out of the castle, right? He still has
- 58:56Speaker 1: some shackles on his wrists. And then she goes, so
- 58:58Speaker 1: the plan is get him out to the gardens and
- 59:00Speaker 1: then get him to a wall, pass him over to
- 59:02Speaker 1: kale or someone i don't know i think no no
- 59:05Speaker 1: not kale anyway someone pass him over the wall and
- 59:08Speaker 1: so they get out there and dorian is there right
- 59:12Speaker 1: another thing to keep in mind she notices nezrin being
- 59:15Speaker 1: one of the servers up in the um dorian's birthday
- 59:19Speaker 1: um and she's like what the fuck deal with that
- 59:22Speaker 1: later anywho she gets out there they get to the
- 59:25Speaker 1: they get to the fucking garden takes um Aiden's shackles
- 59:29Speaker 1: off his hands. And then Dorian strolls out, says, what.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Do we have here? Gotcha. What do we have here?
- 59:39Speaker 1: And Slender's like, fucking damn it. God fucking damn it.
- 59:42Speaker 1: She thought this might happen though. So she's kind of
- 59:45Speaker 1: having a bit of back and forth with him. And
- 59:47Speaker 1: then she's like, Dorian, give me one sign that you're
- 59:52Speaker 1: in there. And nothing happens. He's like, she's like, one sign.
- 59:59Speaker 1: And then the, the Valk prince hits her with some magic, right?
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: And it bounces off her, but throws her back. And
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: when she says, thank God, I put those fucking word
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: marks with my own blood on my skin. But she goes,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: that motherfucker's strong. These things are coming off straight away.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: So she can handle the blow that he, he hits
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: her with. And then she is getting kind of pumped
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: by this guy. She realizes Dorian's not in there anymore
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: and she has to kill him. So what she does
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: is she draws a word mark, same one she drew,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: when she was in the dungeons that one time with
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: that mucked up looking Valg thing that the king was
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: keeping in a dungeon that broke out. And it got
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: stuck in that doorway. She draws one of these word
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: marks and she's like, makes it so Dorian, when he
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: steps over, it gets stuck in place. And then she
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: takes the sword and she's going to kill him. But
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Nezrin shoots an arrow at the sword and goes, swing,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I dare ya. Kill Dorian and Aiden's dead. She's like,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: fuck this, bro. whatever, let's go. They run, right? Boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: They run. And then, um, they get over the castle
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: or they get out of the castle. They get into
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: a carriage and they're like, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: And then Lysandra's in a carriage. They're going down. The
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: person driving the carriage goes, they're checking all the carriages.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: What do you want to do? And then Aiden is
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: sitting in a seat and they changed the Selena. It's
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: like a, it's like a heist. They changed Selena into
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: like a really nice gown or whatever. Just looked like
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: a quarter zone or whatever. And then, um, I don't know. They,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: they play the part. They get shoot along. They, they,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: they pass. They don't find Aiden. And then again, they
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: switch carriages, just like keep it all switchy swatchy. They
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: get to Selena's apartment and Kale's there. Um, a couple,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Lysandra's there. I think someone else is there. Anyway, they
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: get Aiden up to the apartment and they clean him up.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: And then, um, her and Kale are having a conversation
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: and he goes, did you, did you see Doreen? Were
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: you going to hurt him? And she's like, oh, fuck
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: this guy. She goes, if you're going to not trust me,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: why don't you just tell me from the beginning? Because of,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Nezrin being there and she didn't know that Nezrin was
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: going to be there. And then, um, and then he goes,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: you tried to fucking kill him. And she's like, I
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: was going to do him a favor. They have this
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: big old argument. And anyway, it kind of ends there. And, um,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: then she says to Kale, like, go fuck off. Like
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: go stand on the first watch on the roof or whatever.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Why does Kale want him so much alive?
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: It's because he's his best friend.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: I know there's something there though. I don't know. Like
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: there's something way more there, but yeah.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: So that's where we're up to baddies. Yeah.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Very well done, my friend. Very well done. Pleasure. Um,
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: back to the OG roots. Yeah.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: It was, I mean, to be fair, that was fun.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: That was good. That were good chapters too.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Do you think the reason the baddies like it is
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: because they get to like fully relive it?
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I would say so.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Yeah. They live through your eyes. Um, but no. So
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: how do you feel?
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I've, I've really enjoyed reading this.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Personally.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I feel like each book thrown a glass is getting
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: better and better and better.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, I'm super happy. Yeah, and I think we
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: would have read chapter 20, but I texted the audience
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: and said, oh, it just ended on such a good bit. Like,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: don't read past 19.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Yeah, good spot to finish.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Because it just ended on the best bit ever. Yeah.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: They successfully got Aiden out, and now we don't. It's
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: like sword of cliffhanger, sword or not, we don't know
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: what's going to happen next. But I'm happy that within
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: this first 19 chapters, we got Aiden out. Yeah, I know.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: That's one problem we've overcome. Well, now Solana's got him
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: too to team up with.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I think it's, I'm so excited. I'm just like, Something
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: so bad is obviously going to happen in this book,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: but what is it? I don't know.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Because we've got like, there's so many arcs. Dorian, Kael, Selene.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: We've got Rowan in the background. Do you reckon he's
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: going to come at the end of this book and
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: like help? I hope so.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I hope that what they do in this book, because
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: she finds it. Or Kael eventually tells her that he
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: figured out how the king is stifling magic and how
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: to get magic back. And it's that originally he's like,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I'm not telling you because what are you going to do?
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Burn the whole place down. She goes, fuck you. And
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: then he eventually is like, the best thing could be
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: her knowing how to do it. And he says, we've
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: got to destroy one of the black towers. So she
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: knows now. I reckon surely they do that.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: That's what I'm thinking. And I think that's why we
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: might change our opinion on Kale, because he's going to
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: help or do most of the work to get magic
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: back over Rift Hold.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: And that's when Rowan comes in, when magic comes back.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Because what happens to Rowan if he comes in?
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: If he's in fey form? I don't know. Does he
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: just go back to humans? Well, he never was a human.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: He's 100% fey, so I don't know. He definitely couldn't
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: go there in fey form because he'd get killed. And
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: then when he's there, he's got no magic. I think
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: he would have to be in hawk form, but he
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: would be stuck in hawk form. That's why she says
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: unless you want to be in hawk form for the
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: whole time.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: So he can't even come and do anything at all
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: and help.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Yeah, shit. I don't know.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: So we're going to do 10 chapters next. What do
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: you reckon is going to happen in the next 10
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: chapters of the book from here.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Where we left it? I hope a lot.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: I think we'll... Is he fully healed? Or is he
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: going to be written off for a bit? He's written
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: off for a bit. So there's going to be a
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: lot of just Selena POV still.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: There's going to be... I reckon they'll have a real
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: deep and meaningful once he comes back. Once he wakes up,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: he's probably passed out at the moment. I think they'll
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: have a real deep and meaningful... Conversation just about everything.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: She's worried he's going to hate her. Yeah. But we
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: know that he doesn't. What else? I think....
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Do you know how she got the letter about how
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Erebon hurt and killed Sam? Do you reckon how she
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: will kill Erebon is go through the letter of what
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: she did to him? Yeah.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: But I think we're going to find out either by...
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: We'll find out in this book. I don't think we'll
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: find out in the next chapters, but we're going to
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: find out at some point that Erebon's using the word key.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: And I reckon Eden or whatever, Eden is going to
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: help Solanus see him for who he truly is.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: The thing is, is like she talks about, but she
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: still can't see.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: She talks about it all the time.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Lysander's handed it on a platter to her.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: And she's still like, oh yeah, he's fucking like, I
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: Nah she definitely talks about like she's read the letter
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: from Wesley now she talks about how that's.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Like added fuel to the fire type thing.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: I think she's using him so she thinks she's playing
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Erebin and he thinks he's playing her but I have
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: a feeling one of them's playing the other I just
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: don't know who yet like I think that in the
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: end it's gonna be him playing her it's always Erebin
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: playing chess and then Solana's playing checkers and then she
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: gets done yes correct correct but you'll actually she.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Can't lose someone else though I can let Sandra dies
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: at one point eh.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Oh, you know what could happen? Could we have a potential...
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I think Dorian gets saved.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: I think he does too. 100% Dorian.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: I think Dorian gets saved.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: End of this book.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I think Dorian gets saved. I think that Selina or
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Aelin and Rowan are going to be mated. And I
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: think that Dorian and Lysandra end up together.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Dorian and Lysandra, shit. Fuck, I mean, Dorian moves on again.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Well, yeah, eventually he's going to need to find a queen, bro,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: because I have a feeling that what's going to end
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: up happening is the king dies at the end of
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: the Kingdom of Ash and Dorian becomes the king.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Right?
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: And Lysandra will be the queen. Lysandra deserves a happy ending. True.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: So if Dorian, not Dorian, if Kael and Selene destroy
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: this tower and magic's released, everyone gets their powers back,
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: what actually happens to the Vogue?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Well, nothing.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: But do they release and they don't have to possess anyone?
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: No, I don't think that... Do they just disappear? No,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I think they still have to be possessing someone. Even
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: when the restraints are gone? I believe so, yeah. I
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: don't think that those restraints do anything to them.
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: I thought they were doing it to be... That's how
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: they harness their power in this world.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Well, no. Why would the king fucking stifle magic then?
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: Because for everyone else, so it's even and he has
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: control over everyone. Because he wouldn't be able to control
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: them without giving him this vessel to.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: No, but he can control them because he has the
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: word keys.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: True.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: And the rifts are closed.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: So you reckon nothing happens with them?
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I think that they.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Would just stay the same.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Right now, I think they're at peak power and I
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: don't think that any of them stifled magic because the
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: king stifled magic to basically everyone. So he can let
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: people he chooses have magic to have magic. And the
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: reason why Dorian's magic worked is because he's of the
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: same bloodline as the king.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: So... I just don't know. I think that in the
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: next 10 chapters, it's going to be... Like, stuff will happen,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: but I just think that it'll be maybe some more
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: plans and we're going to figure out other things that...
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Because she definitely plans on killing Farron Rourke or Rourke Farron,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: whatever his name is. She definitely plans on killing Arobin. Yeah.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Just not sure how.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: I don't know if, I don't even know if Arobin
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: dies in this book.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: No, I wouldn't be surprised.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: I think he's in the rest of the series.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Really? Yeah.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: He plays such a like fundamental part of like her
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: arc and like the way she is. And if she just,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: if he just dies, I feel like it will lose
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: a part of Selenia.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Also though, don't you think it would be a bit
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: boring for him to just in each book always have
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: something to do with it.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: True.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: I think it would get a bit boring. I think
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I would get bored of it. Like to me, this book,
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: it's still interesting. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like to me, it's
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: still interesting, but I actually think he needs to die
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: in this book. True.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Because I would be like, if the next book, again,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: like there's stuff to do with Erebon and she needs
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Erebon for something, I'd be like, it's boring now. Come on.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: It's true. It's giving almost like, it's going to be
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: so hard to kill him. And I think he like
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: disappears and then comes back.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Cool. I know what I think eventually happens. is
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: obviously Silent Assassins come help back Slane up at some point.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Or do you reckon as soon as Erebin's gone, that's
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: when the assassins come in?
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Look, I really don't know. Do you like the book
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: so far? Yeah, I like it. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I feel like it's... I feel like it's got potential
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: to be one of my favorites in this series so far.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: So far, same.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Like I said, each book's improving. I thought this is
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: also started with like a bang, which is really, really good.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: And I feel, I don't see it slowing down. There's
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: so many, like there's so many arcs and like each,
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: each like storyline is like brilliant.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, that's a good point. What, what Sarah
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: J Maas has done is like the first couple of
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: books were actually kind of slow, but so much was introduced.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: So now it's like, there's nothing that can be slow.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Slow anymore.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: 100%. I was just thinking about that. We haven't even
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: said anything about Madeline Blackbeak.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Barely. Yeah.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: I think she's going to have a massive part in
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: the end of this.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Bro, I'm so.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: She's going to betray the Duke, which is going to
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: be hectic. If she kills the Duke and he's actually
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: really bad, that would be amazing. Yeah. That would be
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: a great prediction. But overall, we'll leave it at that.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Fucking nice.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: We'll see you in 10 chapters.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: See you in 10 chapters.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: And we don't normally say it on Book Club, but
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: if you enjoyed this, five-star it, tell a friend, head
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: over to Patreon, $ 8. 99 a month. And if you're on YouTube, YouTube,
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: the Book Club goes hard. Yeah. Be sure to subscribe. Yeah.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: We might as well buy some new pajamas. Yeah, shit.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: They don't make, I don't know if they make trying
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: to glass pajamas. Like the merch isn't as hyped as Akatana.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Don't have to be custom. Fourth wing in that. We'll
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: just get like a fucking... You can get like a
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: I love Savannah tea and I'll get a I love kale.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll think of some creative stuff, I reckon. All right, baddies,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: we love you. Stay bad.
