- 0:57going to be wild because um
- 1:02Rich Froning's on another
- 1:03channel right now.
- 1:05So I'm sure that is going to
- 1:06take a lot of eyes.
- 1:08But we're going to have some
- 1:08fun here for forty five
- 1:09minutes and maybe people
- 1:11can catch up later.
- 1:13So.
- 1:14With all the technical stuff,
- 1:16let's go with a simple dart toss.
- 1:19And better, but not good enough.
- 1:22All right.
- 1:25So what's going on, guys?
- 1:26What's going on?
- 1:28Yesterday,
- 1:28I had a lot of trainings to do at.
- 1:32Work,
- 1:33got those knocked out yesterday
- 1:34afternoon.
- 1:35Much better day today.
- 1:37Now just trying to cruise
- 1:38through and having these
- 1:40weird internet issues today.
- 1:43Andrew Sten, hola, back to normal life.
- 1:45It'll take a few days for my
- 1:46legs to recover after
- 1:47averaging twenty K steps a day last week.
- 1:51You were killing it, man.
- 1:53I saw you everywhere at the
- 1:55age group games.
- 1:58Ah, hey,
- 1:59but it's lunchtime with Clydesdale
- 2:00loyalty.
- 2:01There you go, Jay Birch.
- 2:04you picked me over the goat
- 2:06I've been flattered very
- 2:08flattered um so yeah a lot
- 2:13of you found the new feed
- 2:14thank you uh for jumping
- 2:16over here what's up jess um
- 2:20meredith amanda I know
- 2:24trent olive was over on the
- 2:25other one hopefully he finds us over here
- 2:30Um,
- 2:31that's the only person I saw before
- 2:32that the feed died.
- 2:35But, um, anyway, fun stuff,
- 2:39cut down day in the NFL,
- 2:41watching my phone anxiously
- 2:42to see who's going to get cut.
- 2:45Um, it's exciting day.
- 2:48Some people are going to
- 2:48make their first NFL squads.
- 2:50Some people are not.
- 2:53Um, and that's a crazy day.
- 2:58So also been fighting with
- 3:00insurance today.
- 3:02Aren't we to a point where
- 3:04we need to like stop
- 3:05fighting for insurance?
- 3:07Like it used to be your
- 3:10doctor would prescribe a medicine.
- 3:11It would go through insurance.
- 3:13They said yes or no.
- 3:14And it's done.
- 3:16No, I get an,
- 3:17I am having this asthma issue.
- 3:20I have a second inhaler,
- 3:21which I have not had in about a month.
- 3:25And I finally get a prescription.
- 3:27It goes to the pharmacy.
- 3:29It gets blocked because
- 3:31there has to be a prior
- 3:32authorization from the doctor.
- 3:34But the doctor is the one
- 3:35who prescribed it.
- 3:37Why can I not understand?
- 3:41I don't get it.
- 3:42Why do I have to do all this
- 3:43legwork to get my prescription?
- 3:45That never used to be the case.
- 3:50Now it's...
- 3:52I got to do the legwork and
- 3:54do your job for you.
- 3:56And finally,
- 3:57I think today it finally got approved.
- 4:01Now I just got to wait for
- 4:01it to get filled.
- 4:03But good gravy.
- 4:04Then you suffer for a week
- 4:06in high allergy time.
- 4:08It's just, God, so over it.
- 4:17Shanna, some parts of medicine is broken.
- 4:20I know, man.
- 4:21I know.
- 4:25I can't with insurance companies.
- 4:28It took us three years for
- 4:29my wife to get double knee
- 4:30replacement approved.
- 4:32Oh, my gosh.
- 4:35It's just crazy.
- 4:42Realizing I need to find a
- 4:43way to have a career doing
- 4:44CrossFit and not having a real job.
- 4:46Yeah.
- 4:46Yeah.
- 4:49We talked last year, right, Brett,
- 4:50that no matter what you did
- 4:52at the CrossFit Games,
- 4:53you come home and your boss
- 4:54still has emails he wants answered.
- 4:58There you are.
- 5:04Having to wait a week when
- 5:05it comes to asthma
- 5:06situation is dangerous.
- 5:09It felt dangerous a couple times,
- 5:12but I think I've pushed through.
- 5:16Hopefully,
- 5:16hopefully we get some answers soon.
- 5:19And yes, they do suck so much.
- 5:27All right, before we get into too much,
- 5:30I wanted to give a huge
- 5:31shout out to Holly Dugan.
- 5:33If you were watching the
- 5:34Instagram this week,
- 5:36she put out leaderboards for every event,
- 5:40for every division at the
- 5:42age group CrossFit Games.
- 5:44And the reason she does that
- 5:46is we want to give you guys
- 5:48who are athletes, if you finish top five,
- 5:51a way to share that with
- 5:53your family and your friends.
- 5:55It's in a nice,
- 5:57pretty fashion and not like
- 5:59just trying to like screen
- 6:01grab a leaderboard or something.
- 6:05Um,
- 6:07and she absolutely kills it
- 6:10every big competition she
- 6:12put out leaderboards she
- 6:14put out overall
- 6:15leaderboards at the end of
- 6:16the weekend she put out
- 6:19overall leaderboards every
- 6:20evening going into the next
- 6:21day and the best thing she did was
- 6:25consolidated the schedule
- 6:26into a way that makes sense
- 6:30so many people come up to
- 6:31me and say they use her
- 6:33schedule because it's
- 6:34easier to read than what's
- 6:36on competition corner or
- 6:38what's been supplied by the
- 6:39event she takes that and
- 6:41puts it all into like a
- 6:43neat little instagram post
- 6:45and it has the men on one
- 6:47screen the women on another
- 6:49for event one then the men
- 6:50and the women for event two
- 6:52and so on and so forth
- 6:55that was how I got around
- 6:58all weekend to know who was up when.
- 7:02And so I just want to give her all the,
- 7:05all the do that she deserves.
- 7:07And if you are running a competition,
- 7:10you need to reach out to
- 7:11this girl and hire her.
- 7:13Like if you're running a
- 7:14competition and you want
- 7:16stuff to give to the athletes to share,
- 7:19to make things easier,
- 7:21she is the person to do that.
- 7:24Like hire her, give her the logos to use,
- 7:30have her make up those
- 7:32shots and just send them
- 7:33out all day long.
- 7:36That girl needs hired by
- 7:38competitions to do that.
- 7:41Nobody does it better than her.
- 7:44Period.
- 7:45End of story.
- 7:47And we are lucky, lucky to have her.
- 7:52The next thing is I'm diving
- 7:54back into the Hattie episode two,
- 7:57starting to work on that
- 7:59while playing around a
- 8:00little bit with my stuff
- 8:02from the age group games.
- 8:03But I've got to get the Hattie one done.
- 8:07first and then move into the
- 8:12age group stuff but that
- 8:13stuff will be coming out
- 8:14over the next couple weeks
- 8:16so look for that and I also
- 8:18did release another members
- 8:20only a raw and uncut
- 8:22interview with caroline
- 8:24klutz uh the winner of the
- 8:26thirty five to thirty nine
- 8:27and I think I'm gonna
- 8:28release one more of those
- 8:30and then save the rest for
- 8:32the project that we're
- 8:33working on to compile everything
- 8:37So if you are a member,
- 8:39go check out Caroline Klutz.
- 8:41It was released late last night.
- 8:45And I'm going to put one
- 8:46more out probably today,
- 8:48and then we'll end that for now.
- 8:50And yeah, so there's that.
- 8:58Big news, WFP is happening this week.
- 9:03And I don't know if you guys
- 9:04saw it's happening in the
- 9:06Mesa Phoenix areas, Arizona area.
- 9:09And did you see what rolled
- 9:10in there yesterday?
- 9:14The wall of dust.
- 9:19Can you believe this?
- 9:24Like it lasted, I guess,
- 9:25like if you were in it, it was about.
- 9:28Fifteen minutes long.
- 9:30They talked to a woman who
- 9:31was in a car and it kind of
- 9:34like rolled over her.
- 9:36She said it lasted about
- 9:37fifteen minutes long,
- 9:38shook the car the entire
- 9:39time that like people in their homes,
- 9:43the dust got in every crack and crevice.
- 9:48But this happened on Monday,
- 9:49and that's where the WFP is
- 9:50going to happen this weekend.
- 9:53So.
- 9:55I guess it's like an unnaturally dry.
- 9:59time in arizona right now
- 10:02and this is like a front
- 10:04coming in and somehow picks
- 10:06up all the dust and moves
- 10:08it forward and it's called
- 10:10a haboob and uh yeah wow
- 10:16crazy like that is like
- 10:18biblical type stuff right
- 10:20there I cannot believe
- 10:25I think will morad was
- 10:26driving in I think on his
- 10:27instagram he actually
- 10:29posted a picture of them
- 10:31driving into it uh to get
- 10:33to the venue uh yesterday
- 10:35so uh crazy stuff man crazy
- 10:40stuff uh that hubbub was
- 10:46jazzed it was it had all
- 10:49the jazz to it all the jazz
- 10:54So anyway, other news from that,
- 10:58Haley Adams announced her
- 10:59withdrawal from the WFP.
- 11:03So that now takes us down to
- 11:06where Haley Adams has withdrawn,
- 11:08Jeff Adler has withdrawn, Alex Kazan,
- 11:11Emma McQuaid, and Bethany Flores.
- 11:16So five of the athletes have
- 11:18withdrawn at this point.
- 11:21And they've all been backfilled already.
- 11:30I think this is something
- 11:32that we're probably going
- 11:33to see more of in the busier times,
- 11:36especially with this busy offseason.
- 11:39You have Rogue, you have Wadapalooza SoCal,
- 11:44and then you have
- 11:45Copenhagen for the finals of the WFP.
- 11:50And I think this could be a
- 11:52trend more than just a one-off.
- 11:56But who knows?
- 11:56I could be all wrong.
- 11:59I also heard a wild,
- 12:01wild rumor this weekend at
- 12:04the age group games.
- 12:07I don't have confirmation on this.
- 12:09So again, wild rumor.
- 12:11I'm stating that over and over again.
- 12:13Wild,
- 12:13wild rumor that the WFP is going to
- 12:19go exclusive next year.
- 12:21And they are upping the
- 12:24amount of money they are
- 12:26offering the athletes to
- 12:28pull as many of them away
- 12:30from the CrossFit season as possible.
- 12:34And that we could be left with two tracks.
- 12:37People who stayed, people who left.
- 12:40The people who left will be in the WFP.
- 12:42People who stayed will be in CrossFit.
- 12:44And you'll have two separate
- 12:45tracks rolling down at the same time.
- 12:49And the money from what I
- 12:51understand is very substantial.
- 12:55Um, possibly in the six figures.
- 13:00And if you're offered that, that, I mean,
- 13:03that is crazy.
- 13:06I mean,
- 13:07guaranteed six figures or take a
- 13:10chance at maybe six figures.
- 13:13Um,
- 13:16it is insane now again wild
- 13:19rumor no idea if this is
- 13:21true no idea if this is
- 13:23true but that is what I'm
- 13:25hearing and you have it
- 13:29exactly right john live
- 13:30versus pga it is very much
- 13:33that emeritus how much
- 13:35money do these people have
- 13:36that they can just throw it
- 13:37around willy-nilly they
- 13:39have that kind of money
- 13:42So the people that you have met,
- 13:44like Jackson and the board
- 13:47with Will Morad and all of that,
- 13:49it's not necessarily their money.
- 13:52It's the parents' money.
- 13:54And the parents have stupid money.
- 13:58Stupid money.
- 14:00So I don't know.
- 14:05I don't know.
- 14:07As a parent,
- 14:08you want to do everything you
- 14:09can for your kid, right?
- 14:11Everything you can for your kid.
- 14:14And I could see a parent
- 14:16wanting their kid to be
- 14:17successful and putting,
- 14:19if they have that kind of money,
- 14:21putting whatever they want
- 14:23wanted at them to make them successful.
- 14:32they must really want to
- 14:33stick it to CrossFit.
- 14:34If it's true, again,
- 14:36I have no confirmation on this.
- 14:38I just, it is something that I have heard,
- 14:42but I cannot get
- 14:43confirmation on it from anybody reliable.
- 14:47So if that happens, it's going to be wild.
- 14:52And I've talked to people
- 14:54who say if the money's good enough, like,
- 14:57and it can support them,
- 14:59they're probably going to
- 15:00go for the money.
- 15:02To be able to do what they
- 15:03love and get supported to do it,
- 15:07they're probably going to
- 15:07take... It's just like Liv and the PGA.
- 15:10Some people took the money.
- 15:12Some people decided to rest
- 15:14on the morals of what they believed in.
- 15:19And Liv had some other things to it,
- 15:21right?
- 15:21That money came from a culture that...
- 15:28they call it blood money I
- 15:29mean it is um they called
- 15:31the the moving that into
- 15:34sport whitewashing what
- 15:35they had done it it's a
- 15:38crazy if you have not
- 15:39looked into the live thing
- 15:41we don't have that with wfp
- 15:42and they're not trying to
- 15:45whitewash anything they're
- 15:47trying to um just spend money
- 15:56Meredith says,
- 15:57it makes me think that
- 15:58someone in the organization
- 15:59really has a beef with
- 16:00someone in CrossFit to want
- 16:01to stick it to them so badly.
- 16:03It's also a parent wanting
- 16:05their kid to be successful
- 16:07and giving them as much
- 16:09money as they need to do that.
- 16:11I think that has a lot of
- 16:13power to it that if you're not a parent,
- 16:15you don't understand.
- 16:19If you are a parent,
- 16:20you do have an understanding of that.
- 16:32The WFP doesn't have any revenue streams.
- 16:35That's the problem.
- 16:36They're not paying for this
- 16:37with revenue streams, though.
- 16:39They're paying for this with
- 16:40their other businesses that
- 16:42they've made a billion
- 16:44dollars in and that they
- 16:46have this spare change
- 16:47laying around that they can
- 16:49help their kids be successful.
- 16:56So...
- 17:00And I don't know,
- 17:00I've not seen their checking account.
- 17:02I don't know how much stupid
- 17:04money they have.
- 17:05I've just heard from a lot
- 17:06of people that it is stupid,
- 17:09stupid money that they can
- 17:11just kind of throw this
- 17:13money to their kids to help
- 17:15them be successful.
- 17:22I think the idea is that
- 17:24they keep it running long
- 17:26enough where people leave
- 17:28CrossFit and come to their organization.
- 17:31Then the revenue streams
- 17:32will follow after.
- 17:43The people running the WFP
- 17:45are the kids of very wealthy people.
- 17:49jay birch so jackson terry
- 17:52is a kid him and his wife
- 17:55they are the children of
- 17:58very very successful people
- 18:03with a lot a lot of money
- 18:11and I don't think they care
- 18:12about revenue streams right
- 18:13now but I also think that
- 18:15they've made a lot of mistakes
- 18:18And this is not the time to
- 18:20try to throw your weight
- 18:21around because I'm not
- 18:24saying it's the right
- 18:25choice to all you guys
- 18:27arguing with this point.
- 18:29I'm not supporting what they're doing.
- 18:31I don't necessarily think
- 18:32it's the best avenue to go.
- 18:37I just know that I'm just
- 18:38hearing it's happening.
- 18:41I don't think it's the best way to go.
- 18:43I don't think it's the best
- 18:44way to build a business.
- 18:46I've said that several times on here.
- 18:49I'm just telling you what
- 18:50I'm hearing from some of
- 18:53the people are very close
- 18:54to the situation.
- 19:03Yeah, they are doubling down.
- 19:05They're doubling down to try
- 19:06to build interest.
- 19:09If they can be the only
- 19:10people with X number of
- 19:11athletes and they're the top athletes,
- 19:14they think that that will
- 19:15then turn into an
- 19:16exclusivity that makes
- 19:18people want to watch them.
- 19:26But I am a casual golf fan.
- 19:28I have never watched a live
- 19:29event in my life.
- 19:33I watched the masters and I
- 19:36watched the British open
- 19:37and I watched the U S open.
- 19:39If I watch golf at all in a season,
- 19:46but they're just doubling down,
- 19:47trying this thing.
- 19:49And I'm not,
- 19:50I'm not judging their success.
- 19:52I'm telling you what they're
- 19:53thinking of trying to do.
- 20:00I, at the end of the day,
- 20:02I think that we as a
- 20:04CrossFit community and
- 20:05culture will watch the
- 20:08CrossFit game season
- 20:10regardless of the athletes
- 20:11that are in it.
- 20:12It's been around too long
- 20:13for us that do this every day.
- 20:28If athletes have to choose,
- 20:29I think the WFP will lose.
- 20:31They will get has-beens and
- 20:32the ones on their way out
- 20:33of CrossFit already,
- 20:35along with a select few who
- 20:36exited because of Lazar.
- 20:38I think you're wrong.
- 20:42I think if you go back and
- 20:43watch what happened with Liv and the PGA,
- 20:46that's what people thought there.
- 20:48And then they got,
- 20:50was it Bryson DeChambeau and...
- 20:55couple of the big hitters
- 20:57and then it made it okay
- 20:58for others to go if it's
- 21:00six figures there is
- 21:02nothing in the crossfit
- 21:04game season other than
- 21:05rogue and the games and the
- 21:08games only the only six
- 21:09figure the the game's only
- 21:13six figure uh payout is the
- 21:15winner everything below
- 21:17that now is like sixty grand and less
- 21:22And if you're guaranteed six figures, man,
- 21:27that's, and I'm supporting a family.
- 21:33I don't know.
- 21:34It would, it'd be hard.
- 21:44Trent Olive,
- 21:45I think the athletes that are
- 21:46looking to make money from
- 21:47sport will continue into WFP.
- 21:50I think if it's stupid money
- 21:52and you don't have that
- 21:52opportunity anywhere else, why not?
- 22:03I don't know.
- 22:06If you watch Full Swing on Netflix,
- 22:09Rory McIlroy fought off Liv.
- 22:13stood up against Liv.
- 22:15Then, a year after he did all that,
- 22:18he got hosed by the PGA
- 22:21when they said they're
- 22:21going to merge with Liv.
- 22:23Now, that merger still hasn't happened,
- 22:25but gosh,
- 22:26he put his reputation on the
- 22:28line for all of this stuff,
- 22:29and then right after the fact,
- 22:31they go ahead and merge?
- 22:36It's crazy.
- 22:37It's just... There are parallels there,
- 22:41and...
- 22:43I don't know.
- 22:44We'll see.
- 22:44We'll see what happens.
- 22:52I won't ever pay to attend the WFP event,
- 22:54yet I've paid to go to the
- 22:55games ten times.
- 22:57I don't disagree with you.
- 22:59Again,
- 22:59I'm only reporting what I think is
- 23:01happening.
- 23:04I think that it proved this
- 23:05year that a good chunk of
- 23:07people will continue to watch CrossFit,
- 23:10to go to CrossFit,
- 23:12as long as they put together
- 23:14a season that makes sense
- 23:16and gets us from point A to
- 23:17point B to find the fittest on earth,
- 23:20regardless of who those athletes are.
- 23:23But we have ownership in limbo.
- 23:26We have no guarantee what
- 23:30the season's going to look
- 23:30like next year.
- 23:33If you're going to try to double down,
- 23:35it's probably the year to do it.
- 23:40but you better have deep
- 23:42pockets to even take a shot at it.
- 23:54Take CrossFit out of it.
- 23:55You're being offered
- 23:56essentially the exact same job,
- 23:58but you're guaranteed more money.
- 24:01Americans every day leave
- 24:03their jobs for more money,
- 24:06go to the other company for more money.
- 24:10To not expect the athletes
- 24:11to do the same is, I think, naive.
- 24:25I think john again I think
- 24:28he says I think they need
- 24:29to figure out how to get
- 24:29people to their event I
- 24:31think that is not their
- 24:32primary concern I think
- 24:34their primary concern are
- 24:35to get eyeballs on their
- 24:37sport and they're trying
- 24:38everything they can do to
- 24:39do that even the highest
- 24:48elite athletes in the sport
- 24:49doesn't guarantee people
- 24:50are going to attend that's
- 24:52what we learned from their last event
- 24:54Right,
- 24:54but if it becomes exclusive and it's
- 24:57the only place you can see them,
- 25:01we haven't seen that tested yet.
- 25:03That's what they're going to
- 25:04test next year.
- 25:06If Jason Hopper signs with
- 25:07them or Dallin Pepper signs with them,
- 25:10Alex Kazan signs with them,
- 25:14and that's the only place
- 25:16you can see them,
- 25:17then we'll see a true test.
- 25:25And they're doubling it down
- 25:26to see what will happen
- 25:28when that happens.
- 25:32And again, this is a rumor.
- 25:34We're talking a lot about a rumor.
- 25:38I don't know that this is to be true.
- 25:47So, I did watch your latest video,
- 25:50The Unbreakable,
- 25:51with Emma Lawson and Jack Farlow.
- 25:56Uh, and I think that it was okay.
- 26:03It was okay.
- 26:04Um,
- 26:05I thought it was better than some of
- 26:06their others.
- 26:08It seems the ones that buttery bros do.
- 26:09And then when they get into
- 26:11more conversational pieces, it gets,
- 26:13it takes a little bit of an uptick.
- 26:15Um,
- 26:17Cause I just don't want to
- 26:18see people work out anymore.
- 26:19I've seen that enough.
- 26:21Um, I thought,
- 26:22I think Jack Farlow is going
- 26:23to be a star.
- 26:24Uh, he is really dry, funny, really,
- 26:27really enjoyed him a lot.
- 26:31Um,
- 26:32Emma,
- 26:33I thought her talking about the back
- 26:35injury and how, uh,
- 26:37taking some time off this
- 26:38season and just doing WFP
- 26:40actually helped her.
- 26:42That also is another thing
- 26:43that helps them in their
- 26:45recruitment of athletes.
- 26:46Um,
- 26:47it gave her time to kind of get
- 26:49everything back in place, uh,
- 26:52and heal the right way.
- 26:55So that was interesting.
- 26:57Uh, all in all, I probably give it a B,
- 27:00um,
- 27:04but nothing earth-shattering,
- 27:06nothing I haven't seen before,
- 27:11but better than some of
- 27:13their other... I did want
- 27:22to address something yesterday.
- 27:24We talked about how the
- 27:27Dreamers are forced to pay...
- 27:29for their dream in the
- 27:31crossfit game season
- 27:33especially the age group
- 27:34athletes are charged every
- 27:36step of the way and then
- 27:38their families are forced
- 27:39to pay these large ticket
- 27:41prices to get in the door
- 27:43and I got a comment saying
- 27:44that if you're doing local
- 27:47comps you still have to pay
- 27:49and I get that and I and I guess
- 27:52My thing was that wasn't my point.
- 27:55My point was that CrossFit
- 27:57only looks at a linear revenue path.
- 28:00And I wish they would look
- 28:02outside that linear revenue
- 28:03path because people like
- 28:06John and Hurt Athletics,
- 28:08if you get people in the
- 28:10door to where they want to
- 28:12come buy some stuff,
- 28:14That helps the vendors get
- 28:17excited about being there.
- 28:19The more vendors that are there,
- 28:21the more people will want to come shop.
- 28:24The more people want to come shop,
- 28:26the more vendors we add on to that.
- 28:28And then we actually have something,
- 28:30an ecosystem at these
- 28:31events that actually starts
- 28:33paying for things outside
- 28:36of just a flat revenue source.
- 28:39That's what I was saying.
- 28:41We need to look at more
- 28:42creative ways to get people in the door.
- 28:45Like,
- 28:46Wadapalooza has their free day Thursdays,
- 28:49and they have the biggest
- 28:51vendor village of any
- 28:52competition I've ever been to.
- 28:56That works.
- 28:57You get butts in the seats.
- 29:00And Wadapalooza's biggest
- 29:02problem is not having enough seating,
- 29:05right?
- 29:07And that is a great problem to have.
- 29:10Most competitions don't have that problem.
- 29:14But they do.
- 29:19It helps that they're in Miami in January.
- 29:21Now that they're moving to
- 29:24March or whatever it is,
- 29:25I hope that they still have that draw.
- 29:29But that...
- 29:33Just to address that one
- 29:34comment that we got back,
- 29:36that was my point,
- 29:37not about that I don't
- 29:38think people should pay their way.
- 29:41It's that we need to look at
- 29:42other revenue sources.
- 29:55Well, that's just creative marketing.
- 29:57They throw a fitness festival.
- 29:58That's my point.
- 30:00That's my point.
- 30:03make it bigger than just
- 30:05coming to watch people work
- 30:06out and then vendors come
- 30:09and then people will come
- 30:10and then ticket prices can
- 30:11be lowered and and then it
- 30:13becomes like a big festival
- 30:15and everybody hanging out
- 30:16that's what you want
- 30:25And we keep eliminating the
- 30:28festival aspects of all of
- 30:30these events that CrossFit holds.
- 30:32And because of that,
- 30:34we're diminishing the crowds we are...
- 30:37Like when we were in Madison
- 30:39and there was a campground
- 30:41and there was outdoor
- 30:42events with a cheap
- 30:44festival ticket that you
- 30:45could come hang out with
- 30:47your buddies watching on a
- 30:48big screen in a beer garden
- 30:50or out at the outdoor
- 30:51events or go camping at the RV,
- 30:55all of those things,
- 30:56those were butts in the vendor village.
- 31:03All of that goes to like
- 31:04help with the funding of
- 31:06everything that goes on.
- 31:12Yes, Amy.
- 31:13CrossFit events are so much
- 31:14more fun when there's a
- 31:16festival atmosphere.
- 31:19Right.
- 31:20We've got to find a way to
- 31:21bring that back.
- 31:25Not just the games,
- 31:27but also with the age group
- 31:31CrossFit games and other events around.
- 31:36Even...
- 31:39Even Rogue doesn't have that
- 31:41for a vendor village.
- 31:50So we're running late.
- 31:51I wanted to do a top five
- 31:53events that I like to
- 31:55appear in person and go to,
- 31:58and I'm going to count them down.
- 32:00My honorable mention for this is Rogue.
- 32:03When Rogue was in Columbus,
- 32:04it was one of my favorite
- 32:05events to ever attend.
- 32:07Then Rogue went to Round Rock in Texas,
- 32:10and it was boxed into a
- 32:14baseball stadium with no festival feel.
- 32:18So it just became an
- 32:21honorable mention for me on this.
- 32:24And now I've not been to Scotland for it.
- 32:26I don't know what they're
- 32:27doing over there.
- 32:29It seems to be cool.
- 32:30I've heard good things,
- 32:32but I haven't seen it for
- 32:33myself to be able to move
- 32:34it back into the top five.
- 32:38Number five for me on the list is Legends.
- 32:41Legends in Arizona is a
- 32:43great place to watch a CrossFit event.
- 32:45Two moving floors,
- 32:47lots of cool places to
- 32:48watch the events from.
- 32:51outdoor olympic swimming
- 32:52pool where you have a
- 32:53swimming event right
- 32:55outside the door and
- 32:56everything is contained
- 32:58closely so you can kind of
- 33:00get to everything and there
- 33:01are tents and booths
- 33:03everywhere around all the
- 33:05floors great place to go
- 33:07hang out it's on arizona
- 33:08state campus lots of fun
- 33:16Number four, Guadalupalooza, Miami.
- 33:19Guadalupalooza,
- 33:19Miami is a great place to go.
- 33:21I used to call it the
- 33:24CrossFit family reunion.
- 33:26When you go there,
- 33:27you seem to see everybody
- 33:28you've met in the space over the years.
- 33:31Lots of vendors,
- 33:33lots of shopping you can do.
- 33:36three moving floors again
- 33:38moving around to different
- 33:39locales right on the water
- 33:41january in in florida is
- 33:44way better than january in
- 33:46ohio um it's a fun place to
- 33:48get to my only drawback to
- 33:51to water palooza miami is
- 33:53it is a lot of stimulation
- 33:55in a short amount of time
- 33:57and sometimes it's just
- 33:59good to go back to the
- 33:59airbnb or the hotel and
- 34:02just decompress for a little bit
- 34:03Cause it's a lot of music, a lot of, um,
- 34:09a lot of interaction with
- 34:10people and a lot in a short
- 34:13amount of time.
- 34:14Yes, I know now it's in March,
- 34:17but I'm basing this on where I've been.
- 34:20So maybe it'll move off the
- 34:21list in the future.
- 34:24Number three is the CrossFit games.
- 34:27Um,
- 34:29It's always been down at
- 34:31about the number three spot for me.
- 34:33I know it's the pinnacle of the sport,
- 34:35but it's the least kind of
- 34:38like fun place to be to watch the sport.
- 34:44Now, Madison was better than Albany,
- 34:47which was better than Fort Worth.
- 34:51But I...
- 34:55You have no access to athletes.
- 34:57You have no access to coaches, really.
- 35:01It's very tightly secured.
- 35:03Things are just a little bit different.
- 35:05It's a little more edgy.
- 35:07Everybody's on edge, I should say.
- 35:09And even though I had a
- 35:10great time there this year,
- 35:12it only comes up to number
- 35:14three on my list.
- 35:16Number two for me.
- 35:18would be the syndicate crown
- 35:20or us semifinals.
- 35:22Cause I've not been to the European ones.
- 35:24I can see they're great on, on the stream,
- 35:27but the semifinals are more
- 35:29fun to me than the games.
- 35:32People were fighting for a
- 35:33position at the CrossFit games, uh,
- 35:35Everybody is, is accessible.
- 35:37You can talk to people.
- 35:39Um,
- 35:39and syndicate crown does it really well.
- 35:42Like this year they added the, um,
- 35:45John young and the heavy
- 35:48Isabel to the race.
- 35:49They did a kill Taylor lat
- 35:52the year before they had an
- 35:53outdoor competition on the, um,
- 35:59like the walk up to the venue.
- 36:01There was an outdoor
- 36:02competition going on out
- 36:03there with a pretty big
- 36:04vendor village and a lot of
- 36:06people just hanging out,
- 36:08having a good time.
- 36:10Syndicate Crown is a blast.
- 36:12If you've ever...
- 36:14not gone to a competition
- 36:15live and you want to do it
- 36:17in a more affordable
- 36:18fashion I tell you go to
- 36:20semifinals I had people
- 36:22come up to me there say
- 36:24that they heard me say that
- 36:25before and they were so
- 36:26glad that I told them they
- 36:28had way more fun at semis
- 36:30than they did at the games
- 36:33and my number one place to
- 36:35go see a crossfit
- 36:36competition is the age
- 36:39group crossfit games
- 36:41It is the best community.
- 36:42It is the most pleasant community.
- 36:44You can hang out with everybody.
- 36:46And when it was here in Columbus,
- 36:48I got to sleep in my own
- 36:49bed and you walk out the
- 36:51door of the venue.
- 36:52There are five hundred plus
- 36:53restaurants to just walk to.
- 36:56It was the best placed event
- 36:58that I have seen in my time in CrossFit.
- 37:01And I'm not just saying that
- 37:02because I live in Columbus.
- 37:04But it literally was right
- 37:06in the hub of all the cool
- 37:08stuff we have here in town.
- 37:10You walk out the door and in
- 37:12walking distance,
- 37:13five hundred restaurants.
- 37:15I kid you not.
- 37:18It was so much fun and the
- 37:22athletes are just hanging out.
- 37:25And you can walk up to them,
- 37:26and they're willing to take pictures.
- 37:28They're willing to sign autographs.
- 37:30They're willing to just sit and talk.
- 37:32You can approach Boz.
- 37:34You can approach Dave.
- 37:35You can approach people that
- 37:36you would never have that
- 37:37opportunity to at other events.
- 37:40It is really,
- 37:41really a fun and good time at
- 37:43the H Group CrossFit Games.
- 37:45And this year, every floor was packed.
- 37:50Every floor was packed.
- 37:54I think their biggest issue,
- 37:55if they hold it here next year,
- 37:57is to get more stands
- 37:58around every floor because
- 38:00it was jam-packed on every
- 38:03floor for every event.
- 38:06And that was fun to see.
- 38:08I looked at some pictures
- 38:09today from Rudy Berger when
- 38:13they was at Madison and how
- 38:15little the crowds were in
- 38:17the stands at the Coliseum
- 38:20when the Masters were on the floor.
- 38:23There were way more people
- 38:25in Columbus for this than
- 38:27there were at that CrossFit
- 38:29Games in Madison.
- 38:32So cool to see.
- 38:38First time being at the Cross...
- 38:40CrossFit Games, age group,
- 38:42it was an awesome experience.
- 38:44What I loved is all the support family,
- 38:46friends showed to them over the weekend.
- 38:48Brett Owsley, competitor at the Games,
- 38:51really enjoyed Columbus.
- 38:52Great location, great food.
- 38:53Zoo, museum,
- 38:54kept the family entertained
- 38:55while I rested.
- 38:57See, we have it all.
- 38:59We have it all.
- 39:02And as long as you don't stay in the hood,
- 39:06you're good to go.
- 39:06And Rogue is five minutes down the street.
- 39:10five minutes down the street.
- 39:11Um,
- 39:12so if you have the wrong clips for your
- 39:14axle bars,
- 39:15if you really wanted to keep them,
- 39:17you could go buy some new clips.
- 39:20Just saying.
- 39:25So with that, that's been the fun thing.
- 39:31I have a very,
- 39:32very funny story from this last weekend.
- 39:36Um,
- 39:37I told you guys that I am
- 39:38the most awkwardly social
- 39:41podcaster in the space in
- 39:44this um and this story is
- 39:50going to prove that to you
- 39:52in a big way but I want to
- 39:53wait until corey is on with
- 39:54me tomorrow uh so I can
- 39:57tell the story to him you
- 39:59guys can listen in and uh
- 40:02yeah it's gonna be a good
- 40:04one really really good one
- 40:07Andrew Sten,
- 40:08I'm really surprised Rogue
- 40:09didn't have a presence at the event.
- 40:11Me too.
- 40:14Even if it was just a small signage to say,
- 40:19hey, go down Fifth Street or Fifth Avenue,
- 40:23and we're down the street five minutes,
- 40:25and come check out our showroom.
- 40:29Just something as simple as that.
- 40:31All the equipment was Rogue.
- 40:34Just a sign to say, hey,
- 40:36come visit us at our
- 40:37location on Fifth Avenue.
- 40:48So,
- 40:51but I have other thoughts on Rogue as
- 40:52well that I'll have to keep to myself.
- 40:54Okay.
- 40:55Yeah.
- 40:59Yeah, I was shocked.
- 41:02Yeah, me too.
- 41:03I thought they would have a
- 41:03booth there for sure.
- 41:06But why make a booth when
- 41:09you're just down the street, though?
- 41:13You know?
- 41:15I mean, their showroom is massive.
- 41:18Just go down there and check it out.
- 41:22Well, with that, guys,
- 41:23I have to get back to work.
- 41:25Time for you knuckleheads to
- 41:26get back to work as well.
- 41:28We will see everybody
- 41:30tomorrow for my funny story
- 41:32about how I'm socially awkward.
- 41:35We'll see everybody tomorrow, guys.
- 41:37Back to work.
- 41:39I'm out of here.
