- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Exodus 14.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Then the Lord said to Moses, Tell the people to go back to Pi Hariath.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Tell them to spend the night between Migdal and the Red Sea near Baal Zephon.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh will think that the Israelites are lost in the desert and that the people will have no place to go.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I will make Pharaoh brave, and he will chase you, but I will defeat Pharaoh and his army.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: This will bring honor to me.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Then the people of Egypt will know that I am the Lord.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So the Israelites did what he told them.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh chases the Israelites.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh received a report that the Israelites had escaped.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: When he heard this, he and officials changed their minds about what they had done.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh said, Why did we let the Israelites leave?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Why did we let them run away?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Now we have lost our slaves.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: So Pharaoh prepared his chariot and took his men with him.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: He took six hundred of his best men and all of his chariots.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: There was an officer in each chariot.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: The Israelites were leaving with their arms raised in victory, but the Lord caused Pharaoh, the king of Egypt to become brave, and Pharaoh chased the Israelites.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: The Egyptian army had many horse soldiers and chariots.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: They chased the Israelites and caught up with them while they were camped near the Red Sea at Piharoth, east of Baalziphon.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: When the Israelites saw Pharaoh and his army coming toward them, they were very frightened and cried to the Lord for help.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: They said to Moses, Why did you bring us out of Egypt?
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Did you bring us out here in the desert to die?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: We could have died peacefully in Egypt.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: There are plenty of graves in Egypt.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: We told you this would happen.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: In Egypt we said, Please don't bother us.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Let us stay and serve the Egyptians.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: It would have been better for us to stay and be slaves than to come out here and die in the desert.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: But Moses answered, Don't be afraid, don't run away.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Stand where you are and watch the Lord save you today.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: You will never see these Egyptians again.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: You will not have to do anything but stay calm.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: The Lord will do the fighting for you.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Then the Lord said to Moses, Why are you still crying to me?
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Tell the Israelites to start moving.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Raise the walking stick in your hand over the Red Sea, and the sea will split.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Then the people can go across on dry land.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I have made the Egyptians brave, so they will chase you, but I will show you that I am more powerful than Pharaoh and all of his horses and chariots.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Then Egypt will know that I am the Lord.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: They will honor me when I defeat Pharaoh and his horse, soldiers and chariots.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: The Lord defeats the Egyptian army.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Then the angel of God moved to the back of the people.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: The angel was usually in the front of the people leading them.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: So the tall cloud moved from in front of the people and went to the back of the people.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: In this way the cloud stood between the Egyptians and the Israelites.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: There was light for the Israelites, but there was darkness for the Egyptians.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: So the Egyptians did not come any closer to the Israelites that night.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Moses raised his hand over the Red Sea, and the Lord caused a strong wind to blow from the east.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: The wind blew all night long.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: The sea split and the wind made the ground dry.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: The Israelites went through the sea on dry land.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: The water was like a wall on their right and on their left.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Then all of Pharaoh's chariots and horse soldiers followed them into the sea.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Early that morning the Lord looked down from the tall cloud and column of fire at the Egyptian army.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Then he made them panic.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: The wheels of the chariots became stuck.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: It was very hard to control the chariots.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: The Egyptians shouted, Let's get out of here.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: The Lord is fighting against us.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: He is fighting for the Israelites.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Then the Lord told Moses, Raise your hand over the sea to make the water fall and cover the Egyptian chariots and horse soldiers.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: So just before daylight Moses raised his hand over the sea, and water rushed back to its proper level.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: The Egyptians were running as fast as they could from the water, but the Lord swept them away with the sea.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: The water returned to its normal level and covered the chariots and horse soldiers.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh's army had been chasing the Israelites, but that army was destroyed.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: None of them survived, but the Israelites crossed the sea on dry land.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: The water was like a wall on their right and their left.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: So that day the Lord saved the Israelites from the Egyptians.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Later the Israelites saw dead bodies of the Egyptians on the shore of the Red Sea.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: The Israelites saw the great power of the Lord when he defeated the Egyptians.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: So the people feared and respected the Lord, and they began to trust the Lord and his servant Moses.
