- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: feels mafia what's going on happy victory Monday to your Monday edition of first and five I'm your host Dave Myers joined on Mondays as always by my guy Peter D. B. Aussie Peter how you feel today victory Monday brother it's always good to talk about a victory on on Monday but now it's it's even better that it happened against the chiefs that was
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: a remarkable game like if you're just an NFL fan loving football.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: That was a terrific game and that late window wasn't anything special until the raiders, giant wars game became chaotic, but like Rams blew out the Saints and then you're the bills chief.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're NFL fan, you always enjoy that matchup, but you and I were talking off air.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: Dave, that.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think we thought that game was maybe somewhat in control and then it kind of flipped on a couple plays and that our hearts kind of went kind of almost exploded.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: But a wins a win by seven at home, you're six and two and it feels like the team is kind of moving in their right direction.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't feel like it was a seven point win though.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: I feel it felt like when it was 10 to seven chiefs that was like, all right, it's going to be one of these games.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be back and forth blow for blow and then Josh went down they scored and they scored again and then it was when it was 20 to 13.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, all right, like the offense gets the ball back.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: This game is going to be over and then
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Weird things seem to always happen in these games that 4th and 17 we talked about it before we came on that 4th and 17 We were trying to figure out what Joey Bosa was doing and like I told Peter I went back and watched the alt 22 and it looked like
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: At first, I was like, dude, what are you doing?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, why are you dropping covers?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: There's no one there.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then if you go back and watch it, it looks like my homens was trying to actually going to roll out there.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: But then he saw that post.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was there.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: So then he backed up into the pockets.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: I was a weird thing.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's a victory Monday.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: It, it was nice to see the bill's defense as extremely aggressive.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we've seen them since 2023, which ironically enough was
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: So again, he can spin this whole me and Bobby or do our call in the place together.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing this.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: That was a McDermott game.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: That was a McDermott master class and just getting after my homes.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: It was very reminiscent of the Super Bowl with what the what the buck and years were able to do to Patrick my homes.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was just uncomfortable.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: He got hit.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: on it seemed like every drive he was just getting nailed that that plan the sideline by AJ app and that's I think I watched that video like a hundred times like I honestly like that was something and to have no flag on that play was was remarkable but we're going to break down the bills offense the bills defense the coaching matchup from yesterday as far as Sean McDermott and Andy Reed, Joe Brady versus Spegs and then we'll give out some game balls.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: So first and foremost Peter how do you feel the bills offense looked
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Knowing that for the last, I don't know, since the Patriots came, everybody's been bitching and complaining about the downfield pass in the tech.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: What's wrong with Josh?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: He seems out of rhythm.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's bailing on the pocket too early.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people said that this needs to be a Joe Brady game.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: How do you feel about the offense?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: How they performed and and however they looked with a nice balance attack yesterday?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, Josh, 23 for 26, right?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: So when you complete that many passes and you throw three incompletions, it's in one of them a couple throwaways, like that's a really good performance.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: He seemed in control day, like he seemed like, yeah, for the most part he could do whatever he wanted offensively, and he didn't take that many risks, but every risk he took, like the Elijah Moore Deepball, Donald King K down the field, Dawson Knox down the field,
- 3:59[SPEAKER_02]: Those were timely plays right like he wasn't forcing everything in the coverage only one was probably that Elijah Moore play, but the safety was kind of late coming over the top so it was a good thrill, but he took everything the defense gave him they love using closure here in the screen gave maybe a little maybe one to many times on certain 10
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: But they ran the ball really well in the first half, but the cheese adjusted to that.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: So in the second half, one of the, and we talked about coaching in a bit, but I think the bill's coaching staff was great.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sure.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: The one thing, I think you got to get props to the cheese.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: They sold out for the run in the second half.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: They were, they were dominated against the run.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: And that hindered the bill's offense a little bit in the second half.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like the bill's offense,
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: in the first half was probably like 9.5 out of 10 like that's where you're kind of grading in the bills 21 points against a really good defense in the second half they're more like a 6.57 out of 10 where they're like they were good but they weren't great and they kind of kept the chiefs in the game at times.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: My biggest I guess
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: problem with what the bills are offensively did and this has kind of become a thing is when they know and they talk talk about the broadcast all the time and they talked about yesterday and this is me nip I'm nitpicking this we're 28 points.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: The offense was good.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: Josh had three touchdowns cooked 114 yards.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in the concave was great.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in check here.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm nitpicking but that's what you people do
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: when they don't have a successful first down play, they look really off scheduled, like really off scheduled.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying they need to have a six yard first down play, but when they don't get anything on first down, if it goes to second and ten, if it's second and seven, I think they're fine.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, run the ball again.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: You can keep you secure in the in the screen pass.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: When they don't get anything when it's a dead play on first down and you have a second in 10 they seem like they're out of their elements because right they don't they're not consistently throwing the ball down the field.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then you run the ball on second and down but then when if you want to get three yards and there's a third and seven like they don't seem like they know what to do when it's second and 10 when the bills are first down play is maybe four plus yards.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: They look like unstoppable.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: They can do whatever they want.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: Second and six, second and five, you can run the ball again.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: You could throw a screen pass to secure.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: You can do whatever you want offensively with this build and they're dangerous offensively when they're a four plus yards on first down.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: When you get that first in 10, they seem like they're a little bit off scheduled.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: And we saw it a couple of times.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: The Shakira third down screen pass on third and 10 was probably
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: We're seeing the wild.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: I jumped out of my chair.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh my god, what are we doing on 30.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: That was bad.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: So the offense was great.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: Can Kate had it, Kate started to break out.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like, Kate's when he's healthy.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't even play a ton of snaps.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: It should cure was good.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Knox had a big catch.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: Coleman had a couple of cashers and they ran the ball well.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: But when they get off schedule, they seem a little like frantic.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and to me, the you mentioned Dalton Concade, I'd like the fact that if you watched that first touchdown, he completely juked the defender, yeah, and that wasn't the defender just fell it was the it was the cut in cut out and Josh was just like all right, you're light open and then that big that big 40 I think was 4647 yard play that he had it was like.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: He cut across the field and I wish that the bills would implement that more and I was screaming for that last week and like can we get some guys cutting across the field that's not within, you know, five to six yards it's downfield more and that's where can Kate can hurt you and I feel like.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're just starting to see that rapport grow and grow in the confidence that Josh has in concave every weekend.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's looking like a top five tight end right now.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's making big plays at the right times in the game.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's not just, okay, he had a 23-yarder.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't really amount to much.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he had that touchdown that set the tone for the game.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Really, he had that bigger reception later on.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I just like the fact that Josh is just trying to get him involved and seems to trust him more and more.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about James Cook for a minute, because I watched the old 22.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: I stayed up until like two in the morning, watching the old 22.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because I had to wait for it to come out first.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: James Cook's vision is next level.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I saw some stuff that Brian Baldwin who put out this morning too, I think he released it on the X, but James Cook's patience has become such an asset to his game.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like when he gets the ball, he's not shot out of a cannon.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's like he gets the ball and when he gets to that first level, it's like he waits for a crack or just a small seam.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I've said this before, his frame,
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: makes it harder for opposing defenders to try to take him down because he's not a big guy.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's not like Jonathan Taylor with that huge base where you can just kind of grab around his waist and his legs.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And when he gets to that second level, he just has the ability.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's just ridiculous the amount of athleticism that he has to just take it outside and just make guys miss.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like you look at this, you know, the stats 27 carries for 114 yards.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't super flashy, but when
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was like you mentioned the start of the drives if it was first down and he got seven if it was the next first down and he rips off six or eight.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the bill's engine is Josh is Josh Allen obviously, but James Cook is slowly becoming like a top three back and it's guaranteed that every game he's going to get you close to 100 yards.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts overall on James Cook and
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: kind of where we were last year's saying maybe that season was an outlier because of the touchdown total and stuff like that to where he's at now he's going to hit a thousand yards against Miami and it's only week what we tend.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your thoughts on James Cook?
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: Also, the fact that it's already a week 10 is crazy to me.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: See, it flies by, you know, he was great yesterday.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: And you asked me last week where I have him like in my top five, top set of current run at change.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: What has that changed?
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's definitely changing.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, and we talked about safe one bar crew.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about junior dibs, Christian McAfrey.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: Those guys are obviously incredible running backs.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I saw a tweet, someone, uh, I saw a stat today that NFL leaders in percent of carries that have resulted in five plus yards game, right?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: So percentage of rushes that James Cook has that nets in five or more yards.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: James Cook is first in the NFL in and that's at 45.8% of his runs.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: So we're nearing 50% of every time James Cook's get a hit five years.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's five plus yards.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's a crazy step and it goes back to when I said keeping the bills on schedule on offense running the ball first down and second down keeps the offense on schedule of James Cook is getting five six yards per carry right there that keeps the offense on schedule.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: But you know he was
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: He was terrific.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's turning into an elite runnyback and a guy that they don't even use out of the backfield in the passing game, a guy that I still think there's other ways to incorporate him in this offense and they don't do that yet.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: He was also the first runnyback to get 100 yards against the chiefs and 24 games.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: So the headding into this game, the chiefs and 24 games did not give a runnyback, give up 100 yards to a runnyback, James some thing.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: Cooks gets it, right?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: So he's going to begin with one of the better rusty fences we see in that of felt.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: Panthers were one of the better rusty fences we've seen in that of felt last week too.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's a lead and you mentioned Josh sounds the engine of the soft ends.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: The bills don't go anywhere without Josh out.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: We all know that, but James Cook is the focal point of this offense.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: If that makes sense, the bills are rushing team.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if someone asks me are the bills more of a passing team or they're more of a rushing team, I'm probably going to lean towards their more of a rushing team.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not a bad thing because they're still a great passing team.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, Josh just do for 273 yards.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: in a game.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: So the bills I think obviously they can do both, but they're turning into a rushing team.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a good thing for them.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: And you mentioned was last year in outlier.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: And you could have argued, you could always argue stuff.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: What we've seen through eight games this year, it's not in outlier.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: James Cook is like the real deal where when it comes to superstar top to your runnybacks in the national football league.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think was going through James Cook's mind when the bills lined up to do the touch potion?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: You can see James Cook pushing Josh Allen and then he kind of nudges him and then when he realizes it was a touchdown, he just looked like he was to shabby them like he's probably thinking man, he's giving the ball, he's like I don't know which Josh had two touch pushes, right?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember if one, I think it was the second one.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_03]: The one where James rolled over to Fender, yeah.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_03]: He that was a touchdown.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he was never down, so he was, I was yellin' out my teeth.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't matter, but sometimes when you watch those chiefs games, we get screwed out of a call and then it matters.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't matter Josh scored a touchdown, but James Cook is obviously getting a couple of touchdowns away from him.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's, he's a team player.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the end of the ball, right?
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: He'll get his.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: But he did score that touchdown.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: He rolled over to Fender and reached over to the goal line.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like he was not down.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think Ford progress is completely broken in the
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they blow the whistle, I've read the dots.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: So let me ask you this.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that this is a formula, we talk about concave, chicure, and cook?
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: You think that should be the formula going forward or are you in the camp of
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: we need another guy because we've seen this before, where the bills leaned heavily on stuff on digs, gave Davis kind of got his, you know, when it was available or you go back even to one of manual Sanders was here, Colby's Lee John Brown, whichever, but is there anything that happened yesterday with the recipe that Joe Brady dialed up and how efficient Josh Allen was in the past in game where this might deter Brandon Bean,
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Two-fold question here, is this a recipe for success for the bills can it be successful and do you think this deterred Brandon Bean from making an acquisition of a wide receiver by tomorrow?
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Trade deadline.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: To answer your first question, I think it can be a recipe for success, but there are going to be games where you need a receiver.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to put cook to the side for a second strictly passing game as they're going to use cook in the passing game.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: Conquade at six catches yesterday should cure at seven, right?
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: So they combine for 13 catches at 14 targets, right?
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: So that's obviously super efficient right there.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: They need someone else to step up.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: But yesterday they kind of did.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: If you think about it, right?
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: You had a catch for 30 yards or doce and nox, you had a catch for 28 yards for Elijah Moore.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: You had a catch for Jackson Halls for 18 yards.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Keon had two catches for 17 yards.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: and then tie Johnson at two catches for 12 yards and cook at a catch, right?
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: So if you put that together, that's kind of like a third option, almost, if you think about, they do need someone else to step up in the sense of getting open, right?
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like he is a key on, is it, is it Curtis Samuel?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: Is it when Joshua Palmer comes back?
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's another try to,
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: tip it you got to think of like when is Palmer coming back that injury didn't will great but the fact that he's still week to week and wasn't put on IR he's we feel like there's a chance he plays this week or the following week against Tampa Bay probably more likely.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably key on Coleman like key on Coleman needs to be that option.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: I know he had two catches for 17 yards and we talked about it last week.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see Josh is not like Josh had him open.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: for a play in the flat.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_02]: He threw it to him for 11 year on first down.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm open for about five minutes.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not playing.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't been looking at him.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think I don't like how you're going to throw it.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still here.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Music eventually.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: You're waiting.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's wide open.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: So, he on is that guy, right?
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: He's the guy that needs to step up.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't think it's correct Samuel.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's Tyrell Shivers at all.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably Palmer or
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: But no, nothing yesterday should take you away from the fact that the bills probably should still add a weapon.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like, there's nothing from yesterday.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if, with cocaine insecure, they were great, actually.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: But they need someone else.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: They need someone else to take the top off the defense.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: They really do.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Because Kian is not that guy.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Joshua Palmer is that guy.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't trust Elijah Moore in the sense of like, I don't think he gets enough game reps to be that guy, and I don't know where he is at this point of his career made a really nice catch.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: That was a really nice catch by Elijah Moore.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: They don't use Curtis Samuel, Tyrone Shavers is more of a special teamer's kind of good block around the outside kind of receiver, which is very needed in NFL.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: So it's key on in my opinion, but yes, you have to add someone.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know who it is.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: I would still want to get Chris O'Avera Rashid Shahid.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: I would still want to get one of those two guys.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: The Brian Thomas thing is interesting because he's completely not used and jacksable for some really odd reason, but I would be utterly shocked if Jackson will give up on Brian Thomas Jr in the second year.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like that would shock me.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: That would be like you don't see those type of trades in that if a lot that's more of a big ball mba type of trade I would be shocked.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: But yes, go get someone if it's a Rashichi who's kind of has no quarterback if it's Chris Alave who has no quarterback I know they say they don't want to trade Chris Alave, but like why wouldn't you trade Chris Alave like you're rebuilding like right up get some assets depending on what they're asking for But yeah, I would go get a weapon
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was I was just looking back on like all the Jacobi Myers stuff and things like that and I don't mind I don't mind Jacobi Myers, but I feel like we have him on the roster like I feel like he is not a good
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: What's that?
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: See, and upgrade over the guys we have.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe over here.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe over here in Coleman.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's an upgrade.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: But like you said, you got Joshua Palmer coming back.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like being might say, all right, well, you know, we put up 28 points.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Joshua's efficient.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: We got the guys involved that we wanted to get involved.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: We spent a first round draft pick on Dalton, Concade.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: We just paid Khalil Shakir and James Cook ran the ball effectively.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know if Brandon being looks at that and says,
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: By adding somebody does it take away from somebody else.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: where we could just have the guys that we have that are kind of everybody eats mantra, right?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like you said, Curtis Samuel had a one reception yesterday.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Terrell Shavers had one reception, Elijah Moore had one reception, and the Elijah Moore reception kind of bothers me.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad that it happened, but I'm like, where has this been all season?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm saying like, you're playing a really good team, why wasn't this on display against the jets?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: Why wasn't this on display against the sails?
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: Why wasn't this on display against teams
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: Aren't as good as the chiefs like why are we able to just dial up a 28 yard pass, which was a nice contested catch by Elijah Moore and I I feel like where they just waiting for to just maybe we'll call it against the chiefs because they're not expecting it, but you have Elijah more who's
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: not being used in the right way.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to complain too much because it was a nice win for the bills.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_00]: The offense and Josh looked really good and like I said, can concede and Shakir did what they usually do.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: So let's flip it over to the defense because I think there's a lot to unpack with the bills defense yesterday.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, Michael Hoyt, it's in the Killies injury.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be off for the year.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to need surgery, McDermott said that yesterday, which is such a punch in the gut because
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: You saw the energy that he brought to those guys and you saw how that energy became infectious.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you saw guys like Joey Bosa was seem like he was kind of amped up, it seemed like Greg Russo was kind of animated yesterday.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like having him in there, he was like that spark for, you know, one of those guys that's just going to keep everybody riled up and riled up.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: So what's your thoughts?
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: going forward about the bill's defense based off of what we've seen not just this week obviously last week against the Panthers and any Dalton, but the bills are able to make Patrick Mahomes uncomfortable.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like all game.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts about how the defensive line performed and then we we can go into the secondary and stuff like that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's no doubt that trauma-driven's calm place.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned in the beginning of the show
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, is he fully calm plays?
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, he's definitely involved in the play calling.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: I, that's, I feel like that's, and he's not going to say it, because you're not going to throw your DC under the bus at that.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: But he is, so the bills hit Patrick with homies yesterday, Dave 14 times.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: And that was the most he's been hit in a game in his career, right?
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that was more than the Tampa Bay Super Bowl, and it's more than he's ever experienced.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: So the bills got after the chiefs in,
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: when I was part of Bill and Buffalo and I was doing my weekly show, we've always talked about how the bills needed to get a pass rush, like consistent pass rush.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: They have a consistent pass rush.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the Michael Hoyt injuries awful.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's terrible, it's heartbreaking because in the two games he's played, he's become a fan favorite, he's been energetic, and he's produced.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like a fan favorite that hasn't produced.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's a fan favorite that's been producing and he's made an impact.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: The bills, that blow was not as bad as like an hour of a blow to this defense in my opinion.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is this isn't a pastress with AJ Ampinensea and Greg Russo and then you have obviously Joey Bosa who's playing on an elite level right now.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: You throw in either land and Jackson or Javan Solomon, right?
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: I still think the bill's pastress is going to be totally fine.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's unfortunate because you were moving
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: The bills were able to get after the homes, right?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like, both so looked at Lee, Groot was good, and Penance was good, and Penance that you said had that hit on the homes by the Siline, which was a terrific hit.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: And you can see their aggressiveness on the bill's defense.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: Christian Bedford had a sack on a corner blitz.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: When was the last time that it's probably happened, maybe this year, but like, really, it's happened or it's worked where a corner's got off the edge.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of the more times it's Taran Johnson, as he's the nickel corner,
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: He got off the edge and made a sack and Christian Benford had a sack.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: So, those pastros and defense were getting after, I thought the run defense was good.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: You were missing it out over, who's going to be back around potential around the playoffs and you're missing Dave Juan Jones, who should be back in a week or so.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: So, that would actually be a big, big get, but I do think the bill's run defense was sound.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it was anything special, but I thought,
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: Hunt ran 4.5 yards per carry, he had 11 carries for 49 yards, right?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: 79 total yards by the chiefs on the ground with a four yards per carry.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: So without having all of her, without having day-quan Jones, varsity fence was good and the bills created havoc on the homes all day.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and like you said, when when he went out, I watched this a lot of Javan Solomon and he was plugged right into where he was.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying he was as productive, but he was productive.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was disruptive in the middle of the line.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: And like you said, Sean McDermott was definitely calling plays.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: He can spin this whole narrative about how Bobby's involved in all this.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's probably involved in the practice world of the defense, but I don't feel like during the games.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel like he's, you know, him and McDermott are going back and forth.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: What should we do here and Bobby's telling him, hey, I think we should do this.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that McDermott
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: You saw a defense the last two weeks that was very similar to the 2023 bills where they had 53 sex.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: They were creating turnovers.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: The secondary was playing at top level.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like when was the last time you saw bill DBs bat passes down.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a very long time when there was past defended by bills DBs.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: And that leads me right into coal bishop.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: that hit that he laid on Kelsey in the end zone.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Rific that that's a guy who you can tell that's how he wants to play.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to play free.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to just roam around chase after the ball and do his thing.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: He had four pass breakups yesterday.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: One was the last time a Buffalo Bill's defensive backhead, four pass breakups in one game.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: And there was times when they were, they were impactful plays.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was a third down I remember the one and he bettered the ball down right over the middle.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's it seems like playing next to Jordan Poir.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like has kind of given him the confidence to just, you know, he's comfortable with the guy next to him.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not a dig at Taylor rap.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like Poir is instilling that wisdom on the back end that he's like, okay, I know he's good over there.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to go do whatever.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: And this is why I say Sean McDermott's calling plays because
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: All the DBs have been extremely aggressive, and as we all know, Sean McDermott is a DB guy, like he is a DB safety cornerback whisper.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: That was like his bread and butter when he was in Carolina when he was in Philadelphia, and it's nice to see them even not having Terren Johnson, and just having Max Hirsten play his second game, and things like that, it was very nice to see them all
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: seem like they were just overly aggressive and they were attacking the ball.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts on the secondary?
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: We can get into, you know, Cole Bishop and Max Harrison and stuff like that.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts on overall on the bill's secondary?
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I put a tweet out this morning about Cole Bishop.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: Just about a stats.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_02]: He mentioned seven tackles, a tackle for loss, four past deflections, and then he had that huge four downplay where he batted a ball on a fourth and three, fourth and four, and then obviously the hit on Kelsey.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: And, well, Jordan Poir is probably not at his like peak athleticism anymore is not at our peak playing ability, but he knows the system and he's always going to be in the right spot.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: Those are me Jordan Poir is going to make the play, doesn't mean he's going to do what he's supposed to, but he's going to be in the right spot.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're called Bishop, and you know, like you said, push, uh, Poir is in the right spot, I can do my job comfortably.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying it wasn't because of tail wrap, but tail wrap is a little bit of a,
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: a lunatic back there at safety flying around in all that kind of stuff.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: But Cole Bishop was also hitting history.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like he was flying around, taking shots at legal shots at people.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: He was terrific.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: Christian Benford really didn't get his name called outside of the sack.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: good.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's good.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly what you want from your CB1.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: If I don't hear about you, you did a good job.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to hear about Christian Bedford for the rest of the year.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a good outside of him making an interception of picking up a fumble or a sack like he did yesterday.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to hear about him or see the back of his jersey and we really did it.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: So that was that was good.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: Maxwell Harrison Dave fly.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's a flies.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like his at his speed is
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: undeniable.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like you saw that clip that's going around social media right now of him staying with the Xavier worthy.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like Xavier's worthy is one of the fastest, maybe not if the fastest guy in that afel.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: Maxwell Harrison's right there was tried.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, stride for stride.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, Maxwell Harrison had the interception.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: Nice play, nice pin point in the ball and coming down with it.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: But the more impressive play was staying with worthy.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I think as the weeks go on, we'll probably see it on Sunday against the dolphins because a jail in water and his speed.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that I think Harrison should his reps in snap count should keep going up and trade white snap count should start to kind of tinker back a little bit because I think Harrison has
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he's in the right spot always.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: His techniques may be not always great because he's still young, but his speed can make up for all that, right?
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: And like, he was terrific yesterday, and Cole Bishop, like you said, I wrote like, it was the best game of his career.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he was good last week, I think, against Carolina.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: So he is moving in the right direction and turning into a really good safety in year two, where a lot of people had a lot of criticism about his year one play, a lot of doubts heading into year two,
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: completely kind of blocked out that noise in these turning into a liable, like, I'm, I trust whole bishop heading on so intonating, it's a Dolphins.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: I did not say that a month ago.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and to me too, like,
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Talking about Jordan Poir, when he was signed to the practice squad, there was a lot of people that were critical because, oh, here, same old Brandon Bean, bringing back familiar faces.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of old, that's why we let him walk.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: And he, we saw it when he was with Miami, right?
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that he didn't, you know, we saw he lost a step.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's very apparent why he was brought back in.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a leadership aspect.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, I feel like what Jordan Poir lacks in the physical aspect of his game, he makes up for it mentally.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not just on the field.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he's seen in practice in teaching to these young guys like Colby Bishop and Maxwell Harrison.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: And even Christian Benford.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's been a nice reminder of how valuable
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: on a team with a lot of young ascending talent that they've gotten either in the draft this year last year.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really good to see because I think a lot of Bill's fans love Jordan Poir, you know, say what you want about him going and playing for Miami and injuring Kian Coleman and stuff like that.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's just nice to see him back there controlling what he can control and obviously he's health and cold bishop out a lot.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about, let's talk about coaching because I feel like
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: whenever we get to the post these and we have to talk about how McDermott is out coached by Andy Reed and about how the offense is out coached by Spags, right?
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: How do you feel the coaching went down yesterday?
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: Outside of a close should hear screen pass in general.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was it was terrific, right?
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like Joe Brady and Josh in a dairy control, the offense, and defensively they seemed like
- 29:38[SPEAKER_02]: They were a completely drawn defense and you're gonna have the plays against my homes, right?
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: The fourth and 17's, the one play that's inexcusable, that can't ever happen.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like that, and McDermott knows that that was the one outlier from the Bill's defense, yesterday in my opinion, but it, like,
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: They would have had more sacks if they weren't going against mobs.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like, my homes and Josh have that ability to create plays when the play breaks down.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going up against a cadennial Jones or if you're going up against a cadennial Rogers or Dak Prescott, Quebec, they're not known for their all mobility, right?
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: And they don't make plays on the run as much, you're going to have more sacks.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: So, my homes isn't outlier, Alan and Lamar are outliers to that.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: You get pressure and it sometimes doesn't matter, right?
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: But the bill's drew a pressure.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: They were aggressive and they thought might as well go get it go get my homes.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I think at times in the past when they played in the home, especially in the plastic sat back in a lot more zone coverage.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: Rush four.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: and they kind of got picked apart at times.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: And the bills were also able to get home with only Russian for a lot of the time yesterday.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: And it wasn't just sacks, it was correct pressures, making bad and balls at the line of skirmish.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: We saw that one yesterday, balls thrown away, balls just not in the right spot because of pressure.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: So the bills drew it up.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: Perfectly on defense outside of the 4th and 17 play.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: Offensively they were good.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: They seemed to deal with his control.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you saw that Spag's quote about playing Josh.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what you were retired.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's been his man.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want I don't want to play you anymore.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to retire.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: So Spag is one of the better DCs we've seen in the National Football League in a while and he's usually in complete control and he's good at getting after Josh.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: The bill seemed like they knew what they were doing where they were in control of their offense.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: If there was a blitz, they had a dunk off to dump off to Shakir, right?
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like you saw a lot of times when the cheese blitz, it was a quick screen pass to Shakir and when I'm getting space, they used the tight ends well.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: The bill's coaching staff 9.5, 9 out of 10.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: They seemed like they knew it.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously they know what they're doing, but they seemed like they had one step ahead of what the chiefs were doing offensively and defensively.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think Josh Allen's lost the step?
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like, speed wise, like mobility wise.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that he's lost the step because it's year eight, right?
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: And we can't expect the Josh Allen of Hurdoline and just run it all over the place.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, a couple of years ago.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen it floating around on X and social media that people think that he looks like the eluciveness is not there as much as it was.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: And now I think there could be a lot of different things
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: how the pocket is presented to him, what he trusts when he's rolling out, because we haven't seen a lot of those dynamic Josh out of the pocket, pointing guys, go run, and then he makes a nice play running to the sideline, you know, left to right.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll ask you, do you think that Josh Allen's lost the step?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: He did have a nice 11-year-old run yesterday.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: So he could have given him right at there.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I don't think he did.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he has, right?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: Couple of the sacks he took yesterday, he was making plays with the legs when he took the sack.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: It was just, he couldn't get away from the third guy.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: If someone gets open and that could be a receiver conversation, if someone gets open, you're like, he didn't lose a step.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: There's a couple of times where you got sacks, but he got away from two guys already.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: The third guy got him.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: But someone got to get open, like eventually Josh just can't run around forever and the most quarter extra sack at the first time.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: So no, they have gotten away from the design runs.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like that is not in their offense anymore.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: And they've also probably told Josh like take it easy on the runs, depending on what game we're doing, because we need you to do it in the playoffs, right?
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: You want to preserve him for the postseason.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like in an AFC championship game,
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: You expect to see Josh run the ball a lot more because it's the ASC J ever game in a potential superbowl you would see Josh run the ball a lot more in a game against the panthers in week nine you won't right I don't know if it's that and I also think it's the receiver is not getting open and that's a receiver conversation the plan talking about Josh got sacked after breaking away from two guys someone gets open.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't get sacked.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think he's lost a step.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know if they do design runs anymore and I think they probably have told him to kind of
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: kind of take a minute like not sugar high Josh where he's just running around and scrambling and he has a good O line like the O lines really good for the most part there is no need to leave that pocket like that O line is one of the better O lines is football stay in the pocket and I think yesterday he has did stay in the pocket a lot more because I don't know if we I think we talked about this last week but the fact that he's scrambling a lot more like he seems a little more radic in the pocket at times this year I don't know yesterday was one of the better times where he's like
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: My line's really good.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: Let me trust my own line and you saw the completion of percentage.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_02]: You trust your line If you see someone complete 23 for 26 you trust your line right 100% All right, let's give out some game balls.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let you go first and then I'll do mine Who's your game ball for yesterday?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: It could be offense defense whatever you want?
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: What you got in and why we already talked about him, but I'm gonna go defense.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna go cold this up.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I knew I stole your eye
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know how you don't give it to Cole Bishop, because the amount of times I texted some of my friends about just Cole Bishop, Cole Bishop, was just saying his name, and they knew exactly what I meant because how good he played in that game, that's your thing.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not a household name, he's not Kyle Hamilton back there.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, no one really knows about him outside of Bill's fans in general, and he was terrific.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: And someone put,
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: a tweet out about coal bishop on a random sunday and it's just an edred compilation of smoking guys in like 2010 because that's what coal bishop looked like yesterday he was running around like a maniac smoke Travis Kelsey had another couple heart hits great past deflections couple tackles for loss couple tackles a handful of tackles like he was all over the field yesterday he made a
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: It legit impact yesterday that everything was just funny because someone tweeted ed read highlights, and this is Cole Bishop.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, right It looked like obviously ed reads ed read ed reads a whole favor.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying Goldfish at Hall of Famer.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I won't get mad at me for that But he looked terrific yesterday and it's just coming out part of how he was good against Carolina So I did take I did take your day more.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: So sorry about that.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: No, you're good.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's the Cole Bishop that we were sold on in the draft.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's the Cole Bishop that we were told
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: After he was drafted, go back and watch his highlights.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: This guy's athletic.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's a Sean McDermott guy.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: Brewing through, he likes to be around the ball.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: They can use them in all different kinds of packages.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's versatile.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's just a guy that Sean McDermott could have created in the lab.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we were sold on.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he didn't get a fair shake because he was injured.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: before his first season, and then he came through, and I think he was still battling with some stuff, and then this year, he got injured again in training camp.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then playing next to Taylor Rap, who we've all been talking about, who just doesn't look like a starting safety.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: And now we've seen him play next to Jordan Poir, and we've seen progression week after week, and it's starting to look like that's the cool bishop that we were all sold under in the draft process.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: So it's nice to see.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'll go with Maxwell Harrison,
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: We were sold on him as being this fast guy who's gonna bring energy to the defensive backfield.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_00]: And for him to go striped for stride with one of the NFL's fastest receivers.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty confident in saying that this is why he was drafted.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the bills did need a corner, but he was drafted because of his speed.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: The bill's secondary lack speed and he was drafted not just for those situations like yesterday, but when you get into the playoffs and you're going up against fast number one receivers or fast deep threats from opposing teams and to see him.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say he locked down Xavier worthy, but stride for stride running down the field with him.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: He had that interception on that where he high pointed that ball.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: It was very nice to see.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: Then we got to remember, too, he missed a chunk of time with an injury.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: So the mental ability of him to come back, not from that, but also to get into game speed of the NFL.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's just a testament to him.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_00]: and his, you know, his work ethic and things like that.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_00]: So it was nice to see in just his second NFL game.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I find it funny that that quote that he
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: mentioned in an interview about I get a chance to pick off Patrick Mahomes and people took that in a ran with it the wrong way saying that he was going to pick off Patrick Mahomes And now ironically here we go his first career in reception is against Patrick Mahomes So I'm sure that ball is going in a case somewhere at his house So all right Peter anything else before we get out of here, man It's a victory Monday bills keep the 228 21 look dominant both sides of the ball
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: And he closing thoughts before we get out of here, man.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't get a throw at Don can cave one more time.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know we talked about him right now, but six catches a hundred one yards one touch down like that's their guy you drafted in the first round.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like that that type of performance is why you drafted him in the first round.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's really coming around to be a really good tight end in this league.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: So that is that the bill's number one, why don't you see very even though he's a tight end.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Pass catcher.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: Would you say Cluesha Kiers probably still ahead of him?
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: Would you?
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: based on where they were drafted, and I would still stay here.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: I also feel like two people in that story, totally different, like receiver and all right.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: But one, I feel like, you can go one way or the other way.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like one concave was drafted.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: That was a can-dorsy draft pick.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: because Kendorsi was the offensive coordinator who was drafted.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: And you saw how much he was used during Kendorsi's tenure before he got fired when the bills were 65 and 23 and then Joe Brady took over and then his targets went down in 23 and then last year.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what happened last year if it was the play calling if it was just him and Joshua on the same page.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: But it seems like now he's back to the 2020 Dalton concade, but they're using him more vertically.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: where before it was just like 3rd and 7 it's concave 3rd and 8th he became like the cold measly of the bill's offense in 2023 where now it's like he's running everything he's doing all the routes so that's why i'm kind of concerned.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: if Brandon Bean looks at him and says, you know what, we got Dalton, can KJU seven a really good breakout season.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: We have Khalil Shakir who we just paid a whole bunch of money to, I just paid a whole bunch of money to Joshua Palmer.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're still trying to figure out what we're doing with Kian Coleman.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm thinking he's not gonna do anything by the trade deadline.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's, I don't know, I'm torn.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: The key on Coleman not taking a step in your two is really hinder this bill's receiving core.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because if key on Coleman's having the year two that maybe people thought, maybe people didn't think whatever that people maybe expected, or if he was having a good year two,
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: Then we, you and I would not be talking about a receiver right now.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: Dave, we were talking about a deep capital.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think Kean is who he is.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: I, I didn't, I don't know if it's Kean or if it's the bills.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: If it's Brady just not using him correctly.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: How would you use him though?
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like Joshua Palmer's your outside guy, right?
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have two slot guys essentially in the wheelchair here in Dalton,
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: Then you have your, your two fast Gadgety guys that you don't really use other than just Gadgety or screenplay as an Elijah Warren Curtis Samuel so what are you supposed to do with Kian to me it's simple when you get down to the red zone just target him in the red zone because he should be able to go up and make make a play and out muscle DBs but we haven't seen him be consistent enough.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_00]: When they have done that, for him to go make plays, he's getting passes broken up by five foot nine DBs when he towers over them and he's got 30 pounds on them.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what we were sold on is that he was going to be a physical receiver.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was going to be a jump off 50, 50i.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_00]: He was going to do all this stuff.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we were told he's not a crisp route runner.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't know the whole route tree.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: So are we using him incorrectly, like, and if we are using him incorrectly, how are we, how are the bills supposed to be using him to where it doesn't hinder taking targets away from the other guys.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_00]: Does that make sense?
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, did you watch the Falcons Patriots game yesterday?
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: I watched some of it.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I watched like the, I think like the part of the third and fourth quarter.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: One point, there's nothing to have Kian.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_02]: That could show, well, he's tied that game, measuring that chance to win the game, missed an extra point, then this proceeded to punt the ball at the 50-yard line with two minutes left, and then never get the ball back, and lose by one, because they missed an extra point.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, the Michael Pentex decided to be bad again.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, that was bad.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_02]: They just should've lost it.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: So, if someone tells you that, they're lying to you.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: Drake won nine catches, a buck 18 and three touchdowns.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's how you're supposed to use Kiancom.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: Drake won in a lead receiver is really good.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: They throw jump balls to him, and they throw those swear passes.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: They throw, you know, those couple kill on swear passes.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_02]: They give him.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he got what I think y'all want yesterday.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he had one yesterday.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's how they used Rekwanted.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: They throw those slam passes a couple checkdowns and then deep balls and red zone receptions.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: I Drake one and it's exactly what Kian Coleman should be his top because Jekwant and throw a good.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_02]: But that's like what you want it to be.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like what Rekwant and is is what you want Kian to be.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not there yet.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: And it took Drake one in a little while to get into the NFL.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: Jekwant was also
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you top 10 pick, you just have your top 15 pick.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what if you's like nine or right around here.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was top 15 pick for sure.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: But drag one of the stud.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's a stud.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what they're supposed to use key on as those sweat passes, those deep balls, a couple post routes, kind of maybe those corner at routes like 30 yards out route or 20 yards to the corner to the sticks or to the side line where it's just key on and just got to get his feet down, high point to ball.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: They don't use them right, but I also think it's a problem key on not getting open at times.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's a combination of both, but Drake one and what you want from key on in some aspect.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's the only, I mean, comparison I can really see.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think DK Metcalfs have to perish in the library.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've got a scheme.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think you got a scheme Coleman open at this point, right?
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I don't think he's going to go anywhere.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's on the roster.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_00]: You spend a second round pick.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: He was a 33rd pick overall.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_00]: Why can't you use him in a set?
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like you said, if it's going to be slant routes, put him on one side and put two receivers on the other side that need to warrant coverage.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that way, if there's something available right away, Josh can hit him on that quick read.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't need to be
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: 30 hour reception, it can be, you know, a nice 10 year pick up or an 11 year pick up like he had yesterday and I feel like they keep doing this stuff or they're forcing him to the sideline and he's not first off that's not a high percentage pass anyways, but he's not going to he just doesn't seem to be.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: at a point where he's making those plays.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like in week one, they got him involved.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the confidence built as that game went on.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_00]: And he had eight receptions for over 100 yards.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_00]: And we all thought like, oh, here's the coming out party for Keon Coleman, look at how the bills are using him.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: Line them up in formations that are going to make him be successful where the coverage isn't warranted to be right there.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like you said yesterday, he ran a slant route.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't need to be wide open.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: Just put the ball on him and let him pick up a first down.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that will build confidence with him in the offense.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that's I think how the bills and Joe Brady need to kind of use him going forward.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: I've talked about key on comment for two weeks.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I just feel like there has to be a breaking point.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: here soon, like we're almost 10 games or 10 weeks into the season.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: And it looks like can't come from last year after the injury where it's just like, I'm not saying he's disinterested in the offense, but he's not
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's not becoming that part that everybody thought he was going to be.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it's it's a little concerning, but I guess let's let it play out and see where it goes from.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: He was better before the injury than like the camp before the injury was a really good.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: I thought everything was seen after.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think he was it.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: It looked like he was on pace for about 50, 55 receptions, 800 plus your heart that you averaged for catchy head.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: And he broke some big plays.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he had a couple run after catch plays where it was like, we didn't know he had the accountability, but it was on display.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he might have got caught from behind, but it was a 50-yard play.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we'll take it.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: And now it's just like, back shoulder fade.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: And it's incomplete or a slant route for three yards.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just like they need to figure it out.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, second on the team receptions.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_00]: Because they're forcing him the ball.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: And Joshua Palmer hasn't, he's been in charge of.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: Joshua Palmer's played six games.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, correct.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I just, I feel like they're force feeding him the ball.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like if you are force feeding someone the ball, it should be the guy that has been consistently making plays.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: A Dalton can cade or a colluelage of care.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: Guys that make plays.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: And ironically enough, this is a side note.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_00]: I went back and watched some bills offends from last year.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: There was a ton of games where the bills
- 46:59[SPEAKER_00]: So he's not just a slant guy.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: There was the Lions game.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams game.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_00]: He had that nice deep catch.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_00]: There was a couple other games where he caught some really nice deep passes and he's able to do that.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: So again, we'll see what happens trade deadline is tomorrow.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be back tomorrow.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: I got John Hellcamp with me tomorrow.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be a little bit later tomorrow in the afternoon, hopefully with some bills trade news as the deadline is tomorrow Tuesday 4 p.m. eastern standard time.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: Peter anything else before we get out of here.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: What do you got going on this week, man?
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, just some just some work stuff.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's work stuff, work stuff, fun stuff.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: But now, uh, it'll be the cheese always exciting.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: I was a great game.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I know we can, you can nitpick the game.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: It was a great.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: If you're just an NFL fan watching the late window, late window, the little underwhelming, like I said, until the Raiders Jaguars.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: Crap shoe in overtime, but it's Raiders Jaguars.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: Ram Stains was a blowout.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: That was a fun fun game.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_02]: And Tony Romo was making some weird noises, though.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_02]: That one worries, that one wasn't the second quarter.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_00]: Can we talk about what happened to Tony rumble?
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when he first came on the scene now, like people were questioning, like, he was just weird, right?
- 48:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he had all these analytics and he was just kind of like, new or play was coming.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like most dramas with the plays.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it got to a point where I enjoyed Tony rumble because he gave you an insight.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: If you're not an exes in a film, study, in person.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then what he said would come to fruition.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_00]: He just, he doesn't finish sentences.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like making a wiser.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're just waiting for the resting, it doesn't happen.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know, I don't know what's going on in it.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: I saw a lot of shoes fans were bashing, Tony Romal yesterday, because he was God for big complimenting the bills and how they were playing.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_00]: So when Josh and Mahomes were like, Lamar plays, he just can't control his happiness.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he, I mean, being a former quarterback, he's got to feel a certain way about watching guys that are just exponentially better than he was, physically gifted better than he was, because you can tell.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_00]: When he talks about, like you said, Lamar, Josh, Mahomes, a couple others.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's just like, he's just like giddy.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_00]: He can't do it.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_00]: He loves it.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: He loves talking, like you can go to a bar if they were just talking about quarterbacks for him for probably for 24 hours.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like he just probably seems like you guys love talking football.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, he's been a little, and also like people get tired of it.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like when you're the new thing, you're like, oh, you're two, you're three, okay?
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: And then you're four, five, six, seven, you're like,
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I could listen to Greg Olson all day.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's good.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: Greg Olson, it's probably the best of it right now.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: So, all right, we'll, we'll, we'll stop our critiquing the color analysts on the, the NFL games.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_00]: Peter, we'll see you next week, Monday, brother, you locked in.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_00]: We'll do a post game for the bills and dolphins.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully it's another win.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: And like I said, I'll be back tomorrow right at the trade deadline around four o'clock.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: So look for that for Peter DBS.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm Dave Myers as always on a victory Monday.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_00]: Go bills.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_00]: Go.
