- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Long Story Short the podcast I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and today we're discussing Color My World with Love, which
- 0:20Speaker 1: originally aired on Sunday, June twelfth on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This was not part of the Summer Nights lineup, even
- 0:29Speaker 1: though it airs right in the middle of summer lineups.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's technically a bonus original.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So let's explain why we're choosing this movie over the
- 0:40Speaker 2: Saturday night movie, which was I Caribbean Nights. Is that
- 0:45Speaker 2: what it was called?
- 0:46Speaker 1: I think it's Caribbean Summer.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Why is that title throwing me? So?
- 0:51Speaker 1: I don't know you really want to rename it?
- 0:53Speaker 2: I know, I know, I know, I know which I
- 0:55Speaker 2: heard really good things about. I have not watched it.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And quick five second review. You did watch it in
- 1:04Speaker 1: Gym Hidden Gems and liked it a lot. Shocker, right,
- 1:09Speaker 1: I did you see it or no? I didn't, because
- 1:13Speaker 1: as soon as we decided not to review it, I
- 1:14Speaker 1: just took it off my list.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I'm yeah, I understand. I actually thought it was pretty good.
- 1:21Speaker 1: It's pretty good. Yeah, And our Facebook group is reporting
- 1:24Speaker 1: as you said Caribbean Summer also great. When we were
- 1:27Speaker 1: discussing what to record, when you just said I would
- 1:29Speaker 1: prefer this one, I agree, mostly because I wanted to
- 1:34Speaker 1: see how Hallmark would do it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that too, and I just really was excited for, like,
- 1:40Speaker 2: you know, a different kind of movie.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So yeah, we have really been enjoying the movies and
- 1:46Speaker 1: mysteries movies, and I like the different sort of focus
- 1:49Speaker 1: they often have. Although I would say this was fairly
- 1:51Speaker 1: traditionally hallmarky, I'm enjoying the slightly different spin we get
- 1:56Speaker 1: over on movies and mysteries.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I agree, and I have a note about that later on.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Okay, cool, right, cool?
- 2:01Speaker 2: So you want me to read a synopsis?
- 2:03Speaker 1: I do. Okay.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Emma's daughter Kendall becomes engaged, but Emma is concerned because
- 2:09Speaker 2: Kendall and her new fiance Brad have down syndrome, and
- 2:13Speaker 2: Emma worries she's not ready to take this next step.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Here we it stars Lily d Moore, Erica Durrance, Benjamin
- 2:21Speaker 2: say that last name for me, Air, I have a
- 2:24Speaker 2: hard time with that one. And David DeSantis.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Hell, let's how you say I have a hard time
- 2:30Speaker 1: with that one? As if that's the only name that
- 2:32Speaker 1: trips you with.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Every name trips me out, Seriously, Why can they just
- 2:38Speaker 2: be like Olsen or Smith? You know I got those.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Hey, let's do some news and notes, and I have
- 2:47Speaker 1: a couple of Hallmark news and notes.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Very exciting, very very exciting.
- 2:52Speaker 1: One dropped into my inbox this morning as I was
- 2:55Speaker 1: sitting down to record this. This is hot off the
- 2:58Speaker 1: deadline presses. Do you want to hear that?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Sure? I no. I think I know what it is
- 3:04Speaker 2: because I shared it on our Facebook this morning too.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But go ahead, I think Did I think so?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Hallmark has greenlit and original primetime series. Yes, it's before
- 3:18Speaker 1: I tell you to me. I read the synopsis. I'm like, oh,
- 3:20Speaker 1: this is like the Hallmark Yellowstone. Did you read my
- 3:25Speaker 1: Facebook update today?
- 3:26Speaker 2: No?
- 3:27Speaker 1: I did not. I have not been on Facebook. I've
- 3:28Speaker 1: been doing camp. Drop off my mind, seriously, I think
- 3:34Speaker 1: that's exactly what I wrote. I go, is this Yellowstone?
- 3:37Speaker 2: But make it Hallmark?
- 3:38Speaker 1: That's so funny. For those who have not seen our
- 3:44Speaker 1: Facebook post, Write is a multi generational family drama that
- 3:49Speaker 1: follows the lives of the Murrays as they struggle to
- 3:51Speaker 1: keep their ranch afloat. I could I could get it
- 3:55Speaker 1: on this me too.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I wish it doesn't say who is attached to it yet,
- 4:01Speaker 2: do they like actor wise?
- 4:03Speaker 1: No, it talks about the executive producers.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Who would you like to see ideally in this?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Oh? You know, I think Tyler Hines could play a
- 4:14Speaker 1: rancher in a heartbeat?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Oh, one hundred percent. Oh my god, I haven't even
- 4:17Speaker 2: thought about him.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think, oh my gosh, I can picture her and
- 4:21Speaker 1: I can't think of her name. Nick Nikki DeLoach.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Oh, she'd be great.
- 4:26Speaker 1: To you, we'd be great in this. What about you?
- 4:29Speaker 2: I think you pretty much nailed it. Those are good options. Hey, thanks, Hey,
- 4:35Speaker 2: let's start a Twitter campaign for that. Yes, Tyler and Nikki,
- 4:41Speaker 2: I'm into it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Paul Mark Yellowstone, I'm never gonna remember the name of
- 4:44Speaker 1: that show because that's all I'm gonna call it. I
- 4:46Speaker 1: think it's called Ride. Yes, good job. Also in Hallmark News,
- 4:54Speaker 1: Christmas in July is coming next month, obviously, although Hallmark
- 4:58Speaker 1: is trying to stretch it because I don't know if
- 4:59Speaker 1: you' saw. During the airing of this movie that we're
- 5:02Speaker 1: about to review, there were previews for Mary movie Marathon
- 5:11Speaker 1: that starts June twenty third.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Ah, that makes sense.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, and I gotta tell you you know I'm
- 5:21Speaker 2: a Christmas movie hater. Did you get excited?
- 5:25Speaker 1: I kind of did what I was like.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I think I could totally settle in on a hot
- 5:32Speaker 2: summer night and watch a Christmas movie.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Well, look, my husband was so excited. He's like, please
- 5:37Speaker 1: set those to record and then I have more Christmas
- 5:41Speaker 1: in July news. We have a post on our website
- 5:43Speaker 1: about what to expect for Christmas in July. Hallmark has
- 5:46Speaker 1: kind of been like slowly leaking out information via previews
- 5:52Speaker 1: as opposed to press release. But Christmas in July twenty
- 5:57Speaker 1: twenty two will have not one, not two, but three original,
- 6:01Speaker 1: brand new movies.
- 6:03Speaker 2: That's exciting.
- 6:04Speaker 1: We had one last year Crashing through the Snow. You
- 6:06Speaker 1: did not watch that? I did. I thought it was great.
- 6:09Speaker 1: But one of the Christmas in July movies is Christmas
- 6:12Speaker 1: in July themed, Am I yell? I am? I'm so excited.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Who's in that? Do you know? Haven't? I said?
- 6:19Speaker 1: I could probably pull it up. Might be the one
- 6:21Speaker 1: with Corbyn Blue Home.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I like him.
- 6:24Speaker 1: High School Musical. The answer to your question can't fire Christmas,
- 6:28Speaker 1: which is the Christmas in July. Movie stars Tory Anderson
- 6:30Speaker 1: and Corbyn Blue from as you mentioned, high school musical.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Camp Fire Christmas. That sounds so cute.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm excited. Okay, are we reviewing those? I think we
- 6:43Speaker 1: should make an effort to review the three efforts?
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah, okay.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Our travel schedules don't overlap, so we're not out of
- 6:51Speaker 1: town at the same time, which means of us is
- 6:54Speaker 1: out of town a lot this summer. So we'll do
- 6:58Speaker 1: what weekend guys, Yeah, for sure if you have one
- 7:00Speaker 1: you would prefer, like you which one do you really
- 7:03Speaker 1: want us to review? Because if it's not camp Fire Christmas,
- 7:05Speaker 1: keep it to yourself.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, just shoot us an email. We are looking
- 7:09Speaker 2: at emails Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com. Styles
- 7:11Speaker 2: we are what we should review.
- 7:15Speaker 1: All right, Let's do regular news and notes for Color
- 7:19Speaker 1: My World with.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Love, all right.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't have a whole lot. I found that there's
- 7:26Speaker 1: not a lot of information about this movie outside of
- 7:28Speaker 1: this movie in many facets, Like usually, I like to
- 7:33Speaker 1: dig into the tweets and that's where I get some
- 7:35Speaker 1: like juicy tidbits to share later on. There wasn't a
- 7:39Speaker 1: lot of that. There were a lot of tweets about it,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but it was like I love this movie. I love
- 7:42Speaker 1: this movie. It wasn't like here's a fun fact about
- 7:45Speaker 1: the making of this movie. So yeah, I agree with you.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Okay, Well I'll start first.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Lily D. Moore. She plays Kendall in this movie. She
- 7:54Speaker 2: has over twenty three acting credits, tons of small stuff,
- 7:57Speaker 2: but also several episodes. She plays Rebecca on the Netflix
- 8:02Speaker 2: hit Never Have I Ever. She was also in an
- 8:05Speaker 2: episode of Freeforms single Drunk Female, which I haven't seen,
- 8:09Speaker 2: have you No? I might have to check that out.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And she has two current projects in post production, so
- 8:18Speaker 2: she is a regular working actress who I also saw
- 8:23Speaker 2: is attending Clemson in the fall.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I didn't see that. I love that. I also have
- 8:31Speaker 1: about Lily Demore. She was in a campaign for Somersault,
- 8:34Speaker 1: the swimwear company, and they did a campaign that featured
- 8:40Speaker 1: real people, although all of them celebrities in their own right,
- 8:44Speaker 1: they were actors, they were influencers, they were athletes, there
- 8:49Speaker 1: were writers, lots of body diversity, and she was the
- 8:52Speaker 1: Grand Marshal of the Georgia Special Olympics.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yay. Side note about Somersault bathing suits. Great bathing suits.
- 8:59Speaker 2: If you read made it quality bathing suit, definitely check
- 9:02Speaker 2: them out. I'll leave a leak good snuff here.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I'm on my third summer with one.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Oh, check you out. Erica Drant's Durrance. I don't know
- 9:14Speaker 2: North to Home on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Which was
- 9:19Speaker 2: that this year? I don't know. I think that might
- 9:23Speaker 2: have been a Christmas movie.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Actually, no, I think it was a earlier this year
- 9:28Speaker 1: movie that we didn't watch.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Oh gosh, sorry. Also and Open by Christmas from twenty
- 9:34Speaker 2: twenty one, which I liked me too.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yes, she plays best friend Simone Open.
- 9:41Speaker 2: She was great. All I just remember she was always
- 9:43Speaker 2: in aid, a plaid button down shirt.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Oh that's right, it's funny. I just I can see
- 9:50Speaker 1: the visual.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Now. All right, let's talk about your boyfriend Ben Well,
- 9:55Speaker 2: you know, I will say that Benjamin Ayres has an
- 9:58Speaker 2: IMDb full of more shows that I've never heard of
- 10:01Speaker 2: than any actor I've ever looked up in all of
- 10:03Speaker 2: our time doing girls.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I never heard of this, never heard of this. Let
- 10:09Speaker 1: me just do a little quiz and you tell me
- 10:11Speaker 1: if you've heard of some of these shows. I was
- 10:13Speaker 1: a little disappointed because I was like, Benjamin, I'm your
- 10:17Speaker 1: biggest champion. Give me more to work with. He has
- 10:21Speaker 1: eighty eight acting credits. The Bad Seed Returns. No, apparently
- 10:27Speaker 1: there's a remake of The Kids in the Hall. I
- 10:29Speaker 1: have heard of that. Didn't know it was being remade.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Detention Adventure, No, The Chronicle Mysteries, No, that's a TV show.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Nopeh he was in Cranberry Christmas, the movie that I love.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Burden of Truth Nope, Best Intentions nope. Canadian Strain, No,
- 10:49Speaker 1: Lie Exposed, Baroness von Sketch.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Where showing where these airy Matt, I'm telling you none
- 10:59Speaker 2: of those.
- 11:00Speaker 1: This is what I'm saying. This is what I'm saying.
- 11:02Speaker 1: It's a lot. I mean. He was in an episode
- 11:04Speaker 1: of Shit's Creek. He was in an episode of The
- 11:07Speaker 1: Good Doctor. He was in several episodes of Suits. It's
- 11:09Speaker 1: not that he's completely unheard of, but I'm telling you
- 11:12Speaker 1: justice for Benjaman.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I've never heard of any of that stuff.
- 11:16Speaker 1: To be fair, he has been working. He has five
- 11:17Speaker 1: credits in twenty twenty two alone, and we're only halfway
- 11:20Speaker 1: through the year. So he's working. He's out there. I
- 11:23Speaker 1: just left him can we talk about another Wowi z
- 11:25Speaker 1: awi from this movie? Though? Okay, this is a sneak
- 11:29Speaker 1: wowey zowie, and that is director Peter Benson. Did you
- 11:32Speaker 1: happen to look at his IMDb? No, Peter Benson is
- 11:36Speaker 1: a Howie zowie. He has that. Go ahead, I'm googling
- 11:42Speaker 1: one hundred and forty seven acting credits, but he also
- 11:46Speaker 1: has ten directing credits, including The Santa Steakout and Sweet Carolina.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Really, wait, Wowie zouie. Hold up? He in the Babysitters Club.
- 11:58Speaker 1: He was in the Babysitters Yes, oh, interesting, interesting, Wait
- 12:04Speaker 1: a minute, wait a dang minute. Didn't you say that?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Benjamin Ayers was in a movie called What an Idiot?
- 12:11Speaker 1: That sounds like one of those ridiculous titles.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I just said, Okay, well it was directed by this dude.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Maybe that's how they met.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Well, you sure have a type.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I know they do look alike. There's a photo of
- 12:22Speaker 1: them together on Twitter. And yeah, what can I say?
- 12:25Speaker 1: I like what I like?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Okay, you can't.
- 12:29Speaker 1: He's an attractive man, he is.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I'm not denying, Okay, I'm just saying you have a type.
- 12:34Speaker 2: You like him?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Tall, dark and handsome, right, welcome to the club. Peter Benson,
- 12:41Speaker 1: We'll put you on the next shirt. Just directors.
- 12:45Speaker 2: We like.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Paul Campbell and uh oh wait he's a writer.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Damn, I don't know.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Whatever. Okay, would there dudes of Hallmark does not have
- 12:56Speaker 1: to mean actors. He's a dude of Hallmark. I really
- 13:01Speaker 1: hope my next bit of news and note is gonna
- 13:07Speaker 1: blow your mind. Okay, what go go one of the
- 13:10Speaker 1: writers of this movie. Do you know where I'm going? No,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I'm so glad. Is a man by the name of
- 13:19Speaker 1: I'm now I'm gonna pull Wendy. I tried really hard.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I think it's Shanaian.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Hure, that Shane.
- 13:28Speaker 1: It's Tory Spelling's first husband. What wait a minute, he's
- 13:32Speaker 1: a writer in this movie.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yep, hold on, I'm Tory Spelling's first husband. That dark
- 13:39Speaker 2: haired guy Charlie Shanahan.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Okay, the way it is spelled, his.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Na his name is Charlie Shanahan.
- 13:49Speaker 1: That's not how you spell it s H S h
- 13:53Speaker 1: A N A I A N Shanahan. Yeah, there's no
- 13:59Speaker 1: there needs to be another h S. Shit.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I always thought it
- 14:06Speaker 2: was Charlie Shanahan though, yeah, that is her first husband.
- 14:09Speaker 2: They were like married for like just a hot minute,
- 14:11Speaker 2: not very long.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Yeah right, anyway, that did not quite get the reception
- 14:15Speaker 1: I was hoping. But I thought that was very exciting news.
- 14:19Speaker 2: That is exciting news, that's so interesting, Like I didn't
- 14:22Speaker 2: World Colliding. Does he write movies?
- 14:25Speaker 1: Not many. He's one of three writers. The other two
- 14:30Speaker 1: don't have anything interesting to say about them. I'm sure
- 14:32Speaker 1: they're lovely people. They don't have like a nineties pop
- 14:35Speaker 1: culture tie in for me as all. I got it
- 14:37Speaker 1: that dude that was once married to Tory Spelling, right,
- 14:41Speaker 1: got it? Got it? Send me fun facts about yourselves,
- 14:44Speaker 1: writers of Hallmark Movies. I'd love to share them. Do
- 14:47Speaker 1: you have any more news and notes about this movie?
- 14:50Speaker 2: Just that it was filmed in Maple Ridge and the
- 14:53Speaker 2: Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. Shocker right And
- 14:59Speaker 2: oh just this is just a total side note. But
- 15:03Speaker 2: as of the recording of this episode, which the movie
- 15:06Speaker 2: aired last night, Color My World with Love has an
- 15:09Speaker 2: eight point five out of ten rating on IMDb. Nice
- 15:14Speaker 2: no reviews yet.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Okay, I'll watch it though, which I would hope like
- 15:20Speaker 1: I would hope.
- 15:20Speaker 2: You know the worst of the worst. People leave reviews
- 15:23Speaker 2: on IMDb. H and if they would, this was a
- 15:28Speaker 2: sweet movie. If you're coming with bad reviews that Hallmark
- 15:33Speaker 2: is woke, you have issues.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I do have one more news and note, Karen
- 15:38Speaker 1: Krupper plays Kendall's grandmother. She's not listened on IMDb. I
- 15:41Speaker 1: actually would like to discuss that later. But she was
- 15:45Speaker 1: also in a timeless Christmas You Me and the Christmas
- 15:47Speaker 1: Trees with Wowe's aUI Benjamin Ayrs the Wedding Veil and
- 15:52Speaker 1: wait for it, Unreal.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Always look at Hallmark. Actors are in Unreal or they're
- 16:01Speaker 2: in that other show a lot of time, Once upon
- 16:04Speaker 2: a time. Yeahm hmm, yeah, all right, let's talk first impressions.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Would you like to go first?
- 16:11Speaker 2: One is in the form of a question, Okay, is
- 16:15Speaker 2: it weird that the parents of the couple that just
- 16:17Speaker 2: got married are now coupling up themselves.
- 16:21Speaker 1: They're not the parents of them, so I don't think
- 16:23Speaker 1: it's weird.
- 16:24Speaker 2: They are the parents.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Benjamin Ayers is not the parent of this child. He
- 16:29Speaker 1: is a family friend. What his parents are dead.
- 16:34Speaker 2: I completely missed that part of the movie.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I thought David's parents are dead.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Six pack. I thought he had a wife that and
- 16:44Speaker 2: they had this baby. And his name's not David. His
- 16:48Speaker 2: name is Brad. First of all, his real name is David.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Oh that's why I did that. Uh, Brad's parents are dead.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Oh I thought Brad's mom pieced out at six months
- 17:02Speaker 2: or whatever, six years or okay, sorry, I must have
- 17:07Speaker 2: been scrolling on my phone. Don't get mad. Okay, then
- 17:10Speaker 2: that's not weird. Then? But would it have been weird?
- 17:18Speaker 1: I no, may mean they're not related, coincidental? Maybe?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Like? Oh but all right, what's your first impression.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Let's pretend may never happened. Hallmark is back.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Oh but this is Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
- 17:33Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. It's all the same umbrella. Crown Media
- 17:37Speaker 1: is back. Doesn't have the same ring to it.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Fine, yes, may it was a bunch of stinkers. Here
- 17:42Speaker 2: we go. Let's talk about what you liked about Color
- 17:46Speaker 2: My World with Love.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Hey, I liked Brad's collection of Quippi T shirts.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Oh my god, Oh my god. I have some words
- 17:56Speaker 2: about that later.
- 17:58Speaker 1: The homie with the extra CHROMI did it remind you
- 18:01Speaker 1: of another girl's gon Hallmark callback?
- 18:05Speaker 2: Uh?
- 18:07Speaker 1: Fomo neighbor Allan and O date my dad.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yes, I remember. I thought you were talking about there
- 18:19Speaker 2: was like a princess movie and her shirt said fear.
- 18:25Speaker 2: We laughed about it. Okay, I let me just talk
- 18:29Speaker 2: about those shirts now. I hate gimmicky T shirts. I
- 18:35Speaker 2: just I just hated them. I hate them. Why did
- 18:39Speaker 2: they have to wear a T shirt that have like
- 18:42Speaker 2: like like I don't care about the like homie with
- 18:46Speaker 2: the extra chromosome or whatever, like that's very cute. What
- 18:51Speaker 2: I don't like is a T shirt that looks like
- 18:53Speaker 2: a texedo. Yeah, but like I know, I have high
- 19:01Speaker 2: hopes for wardrobe and that bumps me out. So I
- 19:05Speaker 2: liked that Hallmark made a movie with two lead actors
- 19:09Speaker 2: who have Down syndrome, and in comparison to the movie
- 19:13Speaker 2: called Heart of the Matter, where they hired a typical
- 19:16Speaker 2: actor to play a character with intellectual disability, like, I
- 19:20Speaker 2: like that they redeemed themselves here agree.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Like that made me feel good? Yeah, I thought, I
- 19:33Speaker 1: agree with you. And to build on that, I think
- 19:36Speaker 1: the casting from top to bottom was great. I loved
- 19:40Speaker 1: the cast all around in this movie. Me too, me too.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Speaking of the cast, let me just I know you
- 19:48Speaker 2: mentioned her name earlier, the Grandma Karen Krupper. She rocked.
- 19:53Speaker 2: She rocked first of all, so gorgeous. I was like, Oh,
- 19:57Speaker 2: she's grandma. She That's what I want to be like.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Her skin looked great, hair was great like and best
- 20:04Speaker 2: of all, she was like a grand grandmama. Bear.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yes, it's great.
- 20:11Speaker 2: No one was gonna make Kendall feel less than and
- 20:15Speaker 2: she let it be known.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yeah, lucky, Yes, we got the rudeness discount. I loved her.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I liked that she was Kendall's cheerleader.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, me too. What else did you like?
- 20:29Speaker 1: So? I had something else to say about this storyline,
- 20:32Speaker 1: But I liked the idea that Emma was finding her
- 20:37Speaker 1: place in her career like she wasn't just like, well,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm I'm guessing forty something years old. I don't know
- 20:43Speaker 1: if that's ever addressed, and I'm just gonna like she
- 20:46Speaker 1: wasn't too late. She was like, I'm gonna reinvent myself.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the next steps. I'm gonna move on
- 20:53Speaker 1: and create this life that I want. Now. I do
- 20:55Speaker 1: have more to say about that, so don't flame me
- 20:58Speaker 1: because it's not a perfect storyline. But I did like
- 21:00Speaker 1: that idea, so I have it something more to say
- 21:04Speaker 1: about that as well.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, anything else, my dear.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I liked when Emma gave Kendall's dad the business and
- 21:16Speaker 1: he was like, I don't even own a tie and
- 21:19Speaker 1: she's like, then Todd, buy one, Like, pull your head
- 21:23Speaker 1: straight out of your ass and go buy a tie
- 21:26Speaker 1: for your daughter's wedding.
- 21:28Speaker 2: What dipshit can't go down to Kohle's and grab a tie.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Liked dollars at TJ Max My gosh, like he owns
- 21:37Speaker 1: a home, but he doesn't own a tie.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Like I was like, what's happening? And did you see
- 21:42Speaker 2: he came late? He showed up like right in the
- 21:45Speaker 2: nick of time.
- 21:46Speaker 1: This guy sucks totally. She shows up and he's like,
- 21:50Speaker 1: kids are messy. She's like, not all of your kids? Actually, yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 1: that guy was a real piece of work. Hey, what'd
- 21:56Speaker 1: you wish for?
- 21:59Speaker 2: M okay? I thought it was very obvious how this
- 22:03Speaker 2: story was going to play out. Yes, I wish that
- 22:11Speaker 2: Emma wasn't like this anxious mom.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I just feel like we've seen.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Like maybe this story, especially when it comes to characters
- 22:23Speaker 2: who have special needs.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You know, I don't know what would have been a.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Better direction, Like, yes, you could have like a parent
- 22:32Speaker 2: who's like super supportive and like Rob Rod cheerleader, but
- 22:35Speaker 2: then like you have no tension, you know, then you
- 22:38Speaker 2: have no So I don't know. I don't know.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Well, look, Kendall's twenty two years old. This is not
- 22:44Speaker 1: her first experience with having to leave her in the
- 22:48Speaker 1: care of others. She's obviously had this job for a while,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and it seems like the dad hasn't been involved, so
- 22:53Speaker 1: she's probably had to always work in some capacity. It
- 22:58Speaker 1: seems like she should have had time to come to
- 23:00Speaker 1: terms with being comfortable with other people, including her own mother,
- 23:05Speaker 1: being responsible for Kendall's well being, and I wanted her
- 23:11Speaker 1: to get out of her own way. Silence your cell
- 23:15Speaker 1: phone when you're at work. You're like, these are things
- 23:19Speaker 1: that every parent has to deal with at some point,
- 23:22Speaker 1: regardless of the needs of your child, like leaving your child.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But you cannot tell me that after twenty two years,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you haven't learned to just turn your phone off and
- 23:31Speaker 1: not answer every single text message you get all day
- 23:34Speaker 1: every day at work. You're an adult, and you can't
- 23:38Speaker 1: see how this is reflecting. Your boss is trying to
- 23:40Speaker 1: talk to you you want this promotion, and you keep
- 23:43Speaker 1: looking at the text messages on your phone. I wanted
- 23:45Speaker 1: to smack it out of her hands. And I say
- 23:47Speaker 1: this as the mother of a teenager whose phone I
- 23:49Speaker 1: regularly want to just run over with my car. So
- 23:53Speaker 1: perhaps I was projecting a little bit, But get out
- 23:56Speaker 1: of your own.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Way of Emma and her work. I thought this was
- 24:06Speaker 2: like a low level storyline, like not necessary her wanting
- 24:10Speaker 2: a promotion at work. But but now that you had
- 24:14Speaker 2: mentioned earlier about like, oh, a woman in her forties
- 24:17Speaker 2: is now like not reinventing herself, but now has like
- 24:20Speaker 2: the opportunity to pursue something that she's passionate about. Mm hmm,
- 24:26Speaker 2: Like I get that, But I just felt like, why
- 24:29Speaker 2: is this necessary to the story? Well?
- 24:33Speaker 1: I feel like it was necessary because it gave her
- 24:37Speaker 1: somewhere to direct her energy. She spent all this time
- 24:40Speaker 1: running her daughter's life, and we're moving to a place
- 24:43Speaker 1: where her daughter is finally going to get a little
- 24:45Speaker 1: bit of independence, and it's not just leaving her in
- 24:48Speaker 1: the alert. She has this other thing to invest her
- 24:50Speaker 1: life in.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Well, maybe I was projecting.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe I was happy.
- 24:57Speaker 2: You know, my daughter is now head to high school
- 25:00Speaker 2: in the fall, and there were four short years, will
- 25:02Speaker 2: be gone to college hopefully. Yeah, and what am I
- 25:06Speaker 2: gonna do with myself then?
- 25:07Speaker 1: I don't know, you know. I was more seeing it
- 25:11Speaker 1: as like I'm a woman in my forties as well,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and I like the idea that you can start something now,
- 25:20Speaker 1: like it doesn't need to be like if you haven't
- 25:21Speaker 1: done it already, it's too late and I are just
- 25:23Speaker 1: gonna this is your life for the rest of your life.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I like the idea that, hey, I can now be
- 25:28Speaker 1: this great interior designer even though I didn't start at
- 25:32Speaker 1: twenty one.
- 25:33Speaker 2: That's totally fair. But can I we talk about her projects?
- 25:35Speaker 2: They were super diy, dude, for sure.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Maybe it was because he didn't have a little Joe
- 25:41Speaker 1: that she had to go super diy. And I thought
- 25:43Speaker 1: that little apartment looked cute in the end, I mean,
- 25:48Speaker 1: it wasn't blowing my mind. It was no Jeff Lewis design.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Yes, which, by the way, I just saw a commercial
- 25:55Speaker 2: for a new show for him on some Amazon.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Free the what the heck is that? I mean, it's
- 26:03Speaker 1: it's on Prime. If you go to Prime, it's there,
- 26:05Speaker 1: and it just like takes you. But it's basically Amazon
- 26:08Speaker 1: Prime with commercials, which is kind of annoying if you're
- 26:10Speaker 1: an Amazon Prime paying person, like you still have to
- 26:12Speaker 1: watch commercials. But yeah, it's Hollywood House lift.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Look.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I'm a Jeff Lewis fan. Watched every episode of Flipping Out.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I listened to his radio show, Big Fan, and it
- 26:26Speaker 1: was fun to see him back. And it's all celebrities.
- 26:28Speaker 2: You watched it already.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I've watched the first episode.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Oh well, I might have to. I mean I just
- 26:33Speaker 2: saw commercial, not a commercial. I think i'saw an ad
- 26:36Speaker 2: on Instagram or something somewhere.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, the first three episodes are out.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Well, Hex Today has written itself back to the movie. Yeah,
- 26:46Speaker 2: I thought it was kind of slow.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I got a little bored.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I gotta say, maybe just because like I knew, like
- 26:54Speaker 2: what was gonna happen, so like, I don't know, I
- 26:57Speaker 2: don't know.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I didn't find it as slow as other movies we've watched.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I didn't mind it unwatchably slow.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Okay, what do you think about the idea of Kendall
- 27:09Speaker 2: and Bragg getting married so quickly? It kind of made
- 27:11Speaker 2: me uncomfortable?
- 27:12Speaker 1: You know, that's so funny. Because Emma was kind of
- 27:15Speaker 1: knocked for trying to push back the wedding, but they
- 27:18Speaker 1: had not been dating for that long exactly, so I
- 27:23Speaker 1: don't think it was unreasonable for her to be like, look,
- 27:26Speaker 1: feel this out. I would encourage any of my children
- 27:30Speaker 1: to spend some time getting to know the person that
- 27:33Speaker 1: they would like to marry, and to not rush into
- 27:35Speaker 1: marriage because certain things about yourself and the person you're
- 27:40Speaker 1: with are only going to reveal themselves with time, so
- 27:43Speaker 1: there's no rush be together.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't. I didn't quite understand other than they
- 27:48Speaker 2: wanted to have like this fairy tale wedding moment at
- 27:51Speaker 2: the end of this movie, but we.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Could thus forward the magic of movie making. It's great.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, six months later, two years later, whatever, you know.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I just thought it was like, let these people learn
- 28:03Speaker 2: how to navigate their relationship, you know, yes, because they have.
- 28:07Speaker 1: This big like fight.
- 28:09Speaker 2: And I mean not that people who have been together
- 28:12Speaker 2: a long time don't fight. It's but you who's been
- 28:15Speaker 2: married twenty years and who often still fights with her husband,
- 28:17Speaker 2: but like, you learn how to communicate better.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and you learn how you deal with conflict and
- 28:24Speaker 1: if that's something that works for you and if your
- 28:26Speaker 1: conflict styles can mesh, which is a very real thing
- 28:30Speaker 1: that you may not realize until you're in a relationship
- 28:32Speaker 1: that you both kind of need to understand how the
- 28:34Speaker 1: other person processes conflict. So yes, I agree. I did
- 28:38Speaker 1: not when she said, like, oh, this is gonna take
- 28:41Speaker 1: six months to make this wedding dress, I thought, well, yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 1: they should be engaged for a while. Anyway, they hardly
- 28:45Speaker 1: know each other totally totally. You have anything else you
- 28:50Speaker 1: wished for, So I do. I have two that aren't
- 28:53Speaker 1: actually knocks against the movie, just things I would like
- 28:55Speaker 1: to say. The first is the IMDb page is an embarrassment.
- 29:01Speaker 1: There are only six actors listed, and even Grandma Karen
- 29:04Speaker 1: Cripper is missing, as are all of Kendall and Brad's friends.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Now it feels like a lazy job. And I know
- 29:12Speaker 1: the IMDb platform is not user friendly, but I have
- 29:16Speaker 1: looked at more IMDb pages for Hallmark movies. I know
- 29:19Speaker 1: it is possible just get them linked in there. It
- 29:23Speaker 1: cannot be that hard to link in the actors. It
- 29:27Speaker 1: felt lazy. Okay. The last thing I want to say is,
- 29:30Speaker 1: and this is not a knock against this movie, because
- 29:32Speaker 1: I do applaud Hallmark's representation here. I do think Hallmark
- 29:37Speaker 1: is taking steps in the right direction to make their
- 29:39Speaker 1: channel more representative of what the world itself looks like
- 29:45Speaker 1: in a perfect world. But I would like to see
- 29:48Speaker 1: is someone like Lily James playing a character like she
- 29:52Speaker 1: plays and never have I ever Lily James?
- 29:54Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 29:56Speaker 1: It's not Lily More Lily James is le Pam Anderson. Yes,
- 30:07Speaker 1: Lily D Moore playing a character like the character she plays,
- 30:11Speaker 1: and never have I ever and never have I ever?
- 30:13Speaker 1: She plays the sister. She doesn't play my sister with
- 30:16Speaker 1: down syndrome, and these are all of the struggles in
- 30:18Speaker 1: her life. Yes, this is how we do representation.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Now.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Is this movie important?
- 30:23Speaker 2: Yes?
- 30:23Speaker 1: Is this a reality? Yes? What representation exists when people
- 30:27Speaker 1: of all different lifestyles and body shapes and sizes and
- 30:31Speaker 1: skin colors and relationship styles exist in the world, not
- 30:37Speaker 1: exist in the world as this is my gay uncle
- 30:40Speaker 1: and this is how my family is reacting to that.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like with an asterisk. Yes, yes, yeah, I
- 30:46Speaker 2: get it.
- 30:46Speaker 1: So just something to think about. Just different people exist
- 30:51Speaker 1: in the world, not just as their descriptors. It's not
- 30:55Speaker 1: like Lily D. Moore person with down syndrome. It's Lily D.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Moore be best friend.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and that's.
- 31:03Speaker 1: All I got for things that I wished for.
- 31:06Speaker 2: We didn't talk about this. What did you think about
- 31:09Speaker 2: the chemistry between Emma and I know his name's not
- 31:14Speaker 2: ben What the heck is his name in the movie?
- 31:17Speaker 2: But what did you think about their chemistry?
- 31:19Speaker 1: You know what's funny is if you look at his IMDb,
- 31:22Speaker 1: it doesn't even say his name in the movie.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Oh maybe he didn't have one.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Hey, Megan here popping in post recording while I'm editing
- 31:30Speaker 1: and wanted to say that Benjamin Ayer's character does have
- 31:34Speaker 1: a name, and it is Nick. This is how lazy
- 31:37Speaker 1: it is. None of the actors' names are listed on IMDb. Yeah,
- 31:42Speaker 1: Malika Jackson is listed as officer. I think I'm a
- 31:46Speaker 1: Benjamin Ayer's apologist, and I just like him so much
- 31:49Speaker 1: that I create chemistry even if there isn't any. So
- 31:52Speaker 1: if there wasn't chemistry between them, I wouldn't have noticed.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I liked them together.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I thought they were nice together too. Okay, it was
- 32:02Speaker 2: like it was like a comfortable chemistry, like they were
- 32:04Speaker 2: very friendly, and I gotta tell you. I did like
- 32:07Speaker 2: at the end when she was like very forward about
- 32:10Speaker 2: like I was expecting a kiss. I don't remember the line. Yeah,
- 32:14Speaker 2: I was like, this is why I like movies on
- 32:16Speaker 2: Hallmark Movies and mysteries.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Oh, here's two more things that I liked. And I'm sorry,
- 32:21Speaker 1: I'm going out of order. But in regards to their relationship,
- 32:24Speaker 1: two quick things. One, they're at the anniversary party and
- 32:29Speaker 1: someone's asking them like, how do you two in each other?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Or who are to you? And she was like, we're
- 32:34Speaker 1: two friends who were trying to figure out who they
- 32:36Speaker 1: are to each other publicly. And I was like, that's
- 32:38Speaker 1: such a real thing because you're like, who are we
- 32:41Speaker 1: to each other? And then when he comes to her
- 32:45Speaker 1: and she's building the table underneath and she goes like,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm just gonna get right back under the table, and
- 32:51Speaker 1: he kind of gives her look. She's like, I didn't
- 32:52Speaker 1: mean anything by it, Like, hey, thanks Hallmark for that
- 32:55Speaker 1: little innuendo. Very very like light handed. It's still Mark friendly,
- 33:00Speaker 1: but I appreciated it. Okay, Okay, I have two digit
- 33:04Speaker 1: sees that I only have one. I bet we have
- 33:07Speaker 1: one of the same ones.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Okay, you go ahead first.
- 33:10Speaker 1: There's real music in this movie. Oh yeah, no, I
- 33:13Speaker 1: don't have that. But I did notice that at the end.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I love that Best Day of My Life played at
- 33:18Speaker 1: the end. I thought that was fun.
- 33:22Speaker 2: This just reminded me, like, what did you think about
- 33:24Speaker 2: when they would do that. I don't even know what
- 33:27Speaker 2: it's called process on the TV where it made it
- 33:30Speaker 2: look like it was a painting.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Oh the scene. Yeah, I didn't like when they did that. Yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 1: I don't. I wasn't. I didn't really understand, like what
- 33:42Speaker 1: was happening. I didn't like, she's painting a picture, So
- 33:46Speaker 1: why don't you just show me the painting?
- 33:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 33:49Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 33:49Speaker 2: They did it at the end too, when they were
- 33:52Speaker 2: dancing or whatever. It was just I don't know.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I didn't well the tie in with the movie title, I.
- 33:56Speaker 2: As, I guess pick a better movie title. Mark fully
- 34:00Speaker 2: spoiled the end of this movie with a commercial during
- 34:03Speaker 2: the movie.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Oh, is there a wedding scene?
- 34:05Speaker 2: Yes, they totally show Kindle, Like I don't know. I
- 34:09Speaker 2: think it was just like movies this summer or whatever,
- 34:12Speaker 2: and they show a scene of Kindle in the wedding
- 34:15Speaker 2: gown and this is like before we knew Brad proposed
- 34:18Speaker 2: and I was like, ummm, it just totally spoiled this movie.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I mean it wasn't like it didn't like make that
- 34:27Speaker 2: big of a difference.
- 34:28Speaker 1: But it was just weird. Yeah, okay, wardrobe.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I talked about how Brad shirts I did not like.
- 34:36Speaker 2: But but there was a scene when they go to
- 34:40Speaker 2: that party at you know, for the grandparents, like anniversary
- 34:43Speaker 2: or whatever, and Kendall's all dress up and she's got
- 34:46Speaker 2: a leather jacket on and it is so incredibly constricting,
- 34:50Speaker 2: like it looks so small on her. I was like,
- 34:53Speaker 2: they did not do that girl any justice, Like she
- 34:56Speaker 2: couldn't even move.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Oh I did not notice.
- 34:59Speaker 2: It was just it's just funny.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I like, this was a skirt she was wearing to
- 35:03Speaker 1: that party.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was like a cute skirt. And then
- 35:05Speaker 2: she had like a leather jacket on, but it was
- 35:07Speaker 2: like zipped up a tight.
- 35:08Speaker 1: It was like super tight. Oh come on, yeah, Why
- 35:12Speaker 1: do you think she didn't try on the wedding dresses?
- 35:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Why do you think I don't know, she just held
- 35:21Speaker 1: them up and then they pick her wedding dress that
- 35:25Speaker 1: she just holds up. She never tries it on.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 35:29Speaker 1: The only thing I could think is maybe they didn't
- 35:31Speaker 1: have enough time to film the scene and getting in
- 35:34Speaker 1: and out, and so it was just easier to like
- 35:36Speaker 1: hold them up and do the a orna for that
- 35:37Speaker 1: montage scene. I don't know, but possibly I bumped on it.
- 35:42Speaker 1: You may have noticed our schedule around here. It was
- 35:44Speaker 1: a little wacky. But don't worry, we are not going away.
- 35:48Speaker 1: We still have an episode every Tuesday. We had a
- 35:51Speaker 1: brand new episode this week. It was a mini episode
- 35:54Speaker 1: all about meal planning. If you need some help with
- 35:57Speaker 1: your summer meals, give it a listen. We have another
- 36:00Speaker 1: episode next Tuesday, and then I believe our next Hallmark movie,
- 36:04Speaker 1: when do you think two Tickets to Paradise, Wendy?
- 36:07Speaker 2: Probably? Btw, we did not rate this movie yet.
- 36:10Speaker 1: You are right, I do have a rating. What did
- 36:15Speaker 1: you rate this movie?
- 36:16Speaker 2: Three point seventy five? Me too?
- 36:19Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's exactly what I rated. I thought
- 36:24Speaker 1: it was a good movie.
- 36:26Speaker 2: No, I enjoyed it like me. You know, it was
