- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. And I'm ready to learn some more Norwegian. Lucas: Today we're going to talk about the past. About things that already happened. Luna: Oh, like yesterday or last week? Lucas: Exactly. We'll learn how to say 'I ate', 'I drank', and 'I walked' in Norwegian. Those are very useful. Luna: Great. I already know 'spise' and 'drikke' and 'gå' from before. Lucas: Perfect. So now we just change them for the past. Let's start with 'spiste' — that means 'ate'. Luna: Spiste. Lucas: Good. Say it again. Luna: Spiste. Lucas: Yes. Now let's make a sentence: Jeg spiste en eple. Luna: Jeg spiste en eple. Lucas: That means 'I ate an apple'. You already know 'eple' from the fruit episode. Luna: Right. So Jeg spiste en eple. That's easy. But wait — should it be 'et eple'? Lucas: Ooh, good catch. Actually, 'eple' is neuter, so it should be 'et eple'. But in everyday speech, many people say 'en eple' too. Let's stick with 'et eple' for correctness. Luna: Okay, so Jeg spiste et eple. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's move to 'drakk' — that means 'drank'. Luna: Drakk. Like 'drikke' but changed. Lucas: Exactly. Jeg drakk vann. Luna: Jeg drakk vann. That means 'I drank water'. Lucas: Right. Say it once more. Luna: Jeg drakk vann. Lucas: Good. And the last one: 'gikk' — that means 'walked' or 'went'. Luna: Gikk. Like 'gå' in the past. Lucas: Yes. Jeg gikk til skolen. Luna: Jeg gikk til skolen. That means 'I walked to school'. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's practice all three. I'll say the English, you say the Norwegian. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: I ate an apple. Luna: Jeg spiste et eple. Lucas: I drank water. Luna: Jeg drakk vann. Lucas: I walked to school. Luna: Jeg gikk til skolen. Lucas: Perfect. You've got it. Luna: Thanks. But what if I want to say 'I ate an apple yesterday'? Can I add 'i går'? Lucas: Absolutely. We learned 'i går' in a previous episode. So you can say: Jeg spiste et eple i går. Luna: Jeg spiste et eple i går. That sounds good. Lucas: And if you want to say 'I drank water yesterday': Jeg drakk vann i går. Luna: Jeg drakk vann i går. Lucas: And 'I walked to school yesterday': Jeg gikk til skolen i går. Luna: Jeg gikk til skolen i går. Perfect. Lucas: You're doing so well. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're talking to a friend about your day yesterday. What could you say? Luna: Hmm. I could say: Jeg spiste et eple, og jeg drakk vann. Så jeg gikk til skolen. Lucas: That's a whole story! I ate an apple, and I drank water. Then I walked to school. Great sentence. Luna: Thank you. It's fun to make longer sentences. Lucas: It is. And with just these three verbs, you can talk about simple past actions. Luna: So let's review. The words are: spiste, drakk, gikk. Lucas: Right. And the sentences: Jeg spiste et eple. Jeg drakk vann. Jeg gikk til skolen. Luna: I'll practice those until next time. Lucas: Great. And remember, you can add 'i går' to say 'yesterday'. Luna: Yes. Jeg spiste et eple i går. Easy. Lucas: That's it for today's episode of Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Thanks for joining us. Luna: Takk for i dag, Lucas. See you next time! Lucas: Ha det bra, everyone!
