- 0:00Mcast Hunters are bicky here with Austin Rose to Code of free tag. We
- 0:24are eight days away from opening kick, and I just realized I have opened
- 0:30every podcast with a countdown until our first game? Do you have? I
- 0:37think so? I'm just catching myself doing that. I mean, why not?
- 0:42That's what we all do in our anyways. You go back and you
- 0:46listen to the tape after every pod. No, but I just when I
- 0:50open up every time, I'm just like, huh, I just always say
- 0:53two weeks left or a week and a half left. You just know it
- 0:56off top of your head. Did We're all counting in our heads just like
- 1:00we're counting down for ou Day one? Are we? Though? I am
- 1:06dak Who does Oklahoma play the first week a state? Good job, We've
- 1:11we've big from about two weeks ago. I can't wait for this weekend's games.
- 1:17The slate's not good, but it'll be good to see football again.
- 1:21Yeah. I don't know if I'm that big of a niche. What do
- 1:26you mean? Maybe a Notre Dame. That game's good. I'll give you
- 1:30that one. USC whoever the hell they play, hopefully lose as a thirty
- 1:37one point favorite. I don't think that'll happen. We will have a special
- 1:41segment here in a little bit coming up that we will explain when we get
- 1:47there, featuring our new co host. So we'll get to that here in
- 1:55a little bit, but first gotta talk a little bit of Husker updates.
- 1:59Huskerball will start there. Not a whole lot of news besides more practices,
- 2:06more game prep. Coach rule talking about how he doesn't like to start on
- 2:12individual team preparation too early because then you ruin the excitement. But I'll also
- 2:17you can't start too late because then it's obviously too late. So there's a
- 2:21fine balance on how you filter in scout, team and preparation for the week
- 2:27one game. So we have that. We also have a bunch of videos
- 2:35out there that are going around from various sources. But I sent both of
- 2:40you guys one. It's very interesting. I'll start it with that because I
- 2:45want to hear your comments. But I think it's two four seven Huskers is
- 2:50the Twitter page that I've been seeing a lot of them at least originate from.
- 2:53I do not believe that is affiliated with like the Husker two four seven
- 2:58guys that have their official media publication, but don't quote me on that.
- 3:05I do know that they are releasing a ton of videos like in depth of
- 3:09practices and speeches and talks, which has been pretty neat, and specifically the
- 3:15locker room in the facility that they just got released here too this week pretty
- 3:22top notch. Have you been watching the YouTube series look in Okay? This
- 3:28is probably part of that. If I had, Yeah, yep, I
- 3:31think it is so bad. It's been pretty good. The locker room looks
- 3:37freaking sweet. They have a whole Adida's store basically in there. I don't
- 3:42it was wild. I mean, I never thought about how much clothes going
- 3:45to one hundred some college student football players, but just the amount of shelves
- 3:50and stuff that they were putting on the shelves was insane. Those sleep pods,
- 3:57I could take one hell of a napping. I don't know if I
- 4:00could. I kind of want to try it that I feel like it.
- 4:01I'd be sitting two tubes, I don't know, too far up, like
- 4:04sitting up too much. Well, I'm sure you or what you can do?
- 4:09Yeah, I'm guessing you can move it around. That was the one
- 4:13thing Dak took from that. He's like, yeah, those nap pods though.
- 4:17The pool that love pretty sweet. The pool is cool. All the
- 4:25flat screens, I could, you know, use that and the future home
- 4:29of mine and just bunch just watching games on Saturdays and Sundays. That'd be
- 4:32pretty nice. That would be pretty nice because it was definitely like a cocktail
- 4:35pool. You know, you don't it was there for lounging. You weren't
- 4:40thinking too hard. We'll probably be having a lot of cocktails in there,
- 4:45that's true. No, it's a it's a good series. I liked it.
- 4:49I like I like the whole YouTube production. I mean, this last
- 4:53episode was an hour long, and but it looks like they're having a lot
- 4:57of fun. I don't know if that's the point. I don't know if
- 4:59Rule has overarching editing editing privileges where he's like, hey, make it look
- 5:03like a fun program. But for the most part, it looks like they're
- 5:06having a good time. Do you know, is that something that is just
- 5:11a one year or even preseason only or what you have any idea? I
- 5:15don't, but they did something similar last preseason and they won some awards for
- 5:21it, So I'm gonna guess it's an annual preseason thing, like the the
- 5:27video series that we're talking about specifically. Yeah, I think did a similar
- 5:30one last year and they won some like actually I don't know if it was
- 5:33Emmy's, but something along those lines of like big time awards for it.
- 5:38Nice. But yeah, I thought the content what they're how they're producing it's
- 5:46great and some of the things are capturing I think are also very insightful.
- 5:50And how he's running the program. I saw one of them, how they
- 5:56add they He brought out all of the former NFL players and was explaining the
- 6:01value of red shirts and Trev was one of them, and they talk,
- 6:05you know, he talked about how you have to put in the time in
- 6:09the work and not just give up because we're having you red shirt or you're
- 6:15in your first year. Like I think that's very important, especially in today's
- 6:20landscape that it is so easy to leave. But he's trying to build something
- 6:26to keep guys around and look forward to. Yeah, hey you're a freshman,
- 6:30you might not be good enough now, but look what these guys did
- 6:31after they put in the hard work and made other people better day after day.
- 6:38That stuff is really cool and it's really neat to see as a fan,
- 6:41especially on a coach show. He really he's new. We don't know
- 6:44a lot of question works, Dak. Do you like to watch all these
- 6:47I'm sure you're just watching him before you go to bed every night, you
- 6:51know, I watch it all night every night. No, I've watched second
- 6:55of it. But the locker rooms look tot not. I will think I
- 7:00think that you could pull some recruits with the locker rooms. That's true.
- 7:06I mean, it's it's a competitive locker room now for what's out there because
- 7:11LSUS there's just been a it's insane with the the locker rooms that they're putting
- 7:16out there, and it's something do to keep up with the times. I
- 7:20thought, you know, our facilities were pretty top notch, and you hear
- 7:25a lot about that, but there's probably some truth that we were falling behind
- 7:29in that aspect for the locker room, and I think it's probably still too
- 7:32much, maybe for now. I mean, college athletes are starting to get
- 7:35paid, but like these facilities are absolutely insane for college kids. So I
- 7:44don't know, I don't know how I feel about it. What it is,
- 7:46you have to stay up with it if other teams are doing it.
- 7:49Well, like you said, the main thing is you want to keep the
- 7:53freshman around, right because, and I think it will definitely help, but
- 7:58you never know the n I l it's it's so hard to keep your players
- 8:01around. You just give a new team every year right now, And I
- 8:05think that's where rule does. He's making it a point. The other video
- 8:09I saw was he had the first team offense out there and he said,
- 8:13all right, if you're a senior or your COVID like, and everybody was
- 8:18like gone, and then he's like, all right, now, give me
- 8:22a right guard, give me a center, give me a quarterback, like
- 8:24and filling the pieces, and talked again about the importance of second and third
- 8:28teamers that may need to play down the year, or he talked about next
- 8:31year, like, this is your team next year, so you better be
- 8:35doing the work now to get ready for that. So those kind of conversations,
- 8:39while they may seem obvious and we can all say, yeah, we
- 8:41need to keep players around, but I think you have to have those frequently
- 8:46to the players themselves to get them to realize, okay, like get my
- 8:50mind right of the future of where they could be at in a couple of
- 8:56years. Otherwise they're going to start thinking other places when or if they're not
- 9:00playing. Yeah, I agree. So last comment on this and this is
- 9:07the counter the negative to it, And I actually got way more positive than
- 9:13I thought I would. But the negative to it is, wouldn't you just
- 9:16hate it if you were constantly being filmed the entire practice, knowing that it
- 9:22could be public or probably will be publicly posted. Like, think about all
- 9:26of your our jobs that we do on a day to day basis. I
- 9:28think if somebody just had a camera sitting there recording you the entire time I'm
- 9:33out working. But I mean, realistically, if you're a professional athlete,
- 9:41you know in the NFL Hard Knocks does the same thing. Yeah, and
- 9:46that's athletics is obviously very different than doing what we do. But watching Hunter
- 9:52scroll on X during U three hour lunch break, I just to me,
- 10:01part of me just wants to say, let them, let them, let
- 10:03them do their work, let them do their job. But at the same
- 10:07time, you like the content, you like the people like the content,
- 10:11they like the clicks, and it's probably good for recruiting. Let's be honest,
- 10:16it is probably good I think. Rule I mean, your true colors
- 10:22have to come out right like you're you're gonna speak to it as it is,
- 10:24and like the kind of coaches in society today, you know, if
- 10:30you're a cusser dropping that bombs left and right, like seeing well order what
- 10:35a Bopelini practice would have looked like, like he would have got fired right.
- 10:39Yeah, they wanted to film that. No, so it is interesting
- 10:43to me. I mean, I I get it from a recruiting standpoint,
- 10:48but it is also showing a lot just about the leadership style. I guess
- 10:54you're not really getting any insight into schematics, but you are seeing a lead
- 11:00hip style which so far looks very positive. Well, like you said about
- 11:03hard knocks, there's a reason why no NFL team wants to do it,
- 11:07because you don't want. They don't like to be filmed all every practice,
- 11:11every day, and college is gotta be more. It's gonna be a lot
- 11:16more harder because your college kids are gonna mess up a lot more and everyone's
- 11:20watching you seeing that. I wouldn't like it, but I get it.
- 11:28I just don't want to give other teams any more ammunition, which I don't
- 11:31think anything we've seen so far that I have to think Rule has like final
- 11:37executive like Nope, this can't go. No, this can't go, No,
- 11:41this can't go. But I mean I guess. Yeah. Then was
- 11:43back to trusting Rule and what he believes should and shouldn't get out there,
- 11:48But like, can you imagine Frost doing that and going through like I mean,
- 11:50no, wonder some of the craft that he said during press conferences like
- 11:54that stuff fall gets out And so yeah, you're trusting Rule with the final
- 11:58say, but as a fan or a person that wants the program to succeed,
- 12:03like you hope that he's cognizant of what's getting leaked or released and what
- 12:09other coaches may or may not be breeding into. Oh, I don't know
- 12:13if it's just a preseason thing or as we get into the year there'll be
- 12:18anything more. I doubt it. So did you see Matt Rule on Colin
- 12:26Cowhard? I heard some of his quotes. Yeah, yeah, And then
- 12:31did you listen to the Trevor Alberts Show. His Athletic Director show talked to
- 12:35like Ted Carter and kind of brask Us to do well therese we're gonna get
- 12:39left behind out of conference re alignment. But yeah, Ted Carter is gone
- 12:43A good good point to mention that shocking or not, Dak that is our
- 12:48that was that's our former president of the university. He's going to House state
- 12:52right, ile state. I don't think it's shocking. I feel like most
- 12:56of those people have like four year terms. It seems there's pretty high turnover.
- 13:05It's kind of odd because he had a lot of athletic power. Surprisingly,
- 13:11like the board gave him total control over the athletic department. Correct,
- 13:15I remembering that right? Good? I don't remember. I don't know.
- 13:20Not super shocking. I don't think it'll impact this too much. Trev Alberts
- 13:24is still the one steering the ship. Yeah, the President Bright doesn't do
- 13:26too much for that athletics, right. I think he hired Trev Alberts and
- 13:31he gave the final say on rule. But I think that's about it.
- 13:35I mean, this is Trev's baby now. I think if it works,
- 13:39it's he's going to get the credit. If it doesn't, we'll try something
- 13:43else. It doesn't rule get fired of, treb will still be here.
- 13:48Yeah, you don't. You don't turn through athletic directors quite as strictly as
- 13:52frequently as head coaches, Well, we have and Nebraska with football I saw
- 13:58since oh what was the stat? I saw? We've had like five or
- 14:01six of each since like two thousand or something like that. Like the football
- 14:09coaches in the AD come hand in hand in Nebraska, they do. They
- 14:11just do. That's just how it is if you because that's what everybody wants
- 14:16to see. Back is a football program. And if you make the bad
- 14:20higher or you mess up, then you're gone. First. I think travels
- 14:24stay around for quite a while, though, I think he's pretty locked in.
- 14:28That's what thought about Frost. Yeah, Christ Speaking of Frost, I
- 14:35got a question, Oh, boy, who's who's got a better stats?
- 14:39The Ford Atlantic starting quarterback or the Husker quarterback this year? You're you're a
- 14:48big You're a big former Texas guy, So I'm do you see you Gott
- 14:52named the starter? Though he did, I would suspect, Oh, I
- 14:58guess to find ats. Wait, what do you I think they're gonna be
- 15:05passing yards? Jasey Thompson totally yeah. Jeff Simms, Oh, I'm not
- 15:15gonna say any more about the quarterbacks ever he said about them. Did you
- 15:20see Jeff Simms? I believe Amigos, Amigos and classic amigos. He is
- 15:24the new face of some combo. Great. I'm eager. I haven't been
- 15:33to Amigos since the last time I went with you, Hunter and in college
- 15:37where you were just we just we both know, we both know what state
- 15:43you were not doing great either, you were just better better than you.
- 15:48It's a great during and food. I didn't even get food, that's how
- 15:52rough I was still on my feet. Oh boy, all right, let's
- 15:58transition here to hush your volleyball. The season starts here next week on Wednesday
- 16:06night in the Memorial Stadium game at home against you and O is our game
- 16:18against Wait? Am I looking at the right schedule? Oh are those preseason
- 16:22games Utah State? There's like a tournament maybe games before. I don't know.
- 16:33I just know they played next Wednesday. Okay, they definitely played.
- 16:37That's their home opener. I believe, yes, we do play this Saturday
- 16:42against Utah State at home. It looks like it isn't Lincoln, so the
- 16:48America's players challenge. There we go. I didn't know if that was a
- 16:52preseason tournament or not. Looks like maybe it is maybe some triangular I don't
- 16:59know who knows, we'll see it is Utah State, Lipscomb and SMU coming
- 17:04up this weekend, so we better jump in to see what we got.
- 17:10For the Huskers. I have some opinions we will be good again. We
- 17:15should be one of the top three teams in the Big Ten hopefully currently some
- 17:19number five preseason corn Huskers. The word the words I see are young,
- 17:26talented competitives. We went to Brazil and played here in the offseason. We
- 17:33lost three key players Matti Kubic, Nicolan Haynes, and Kenzie Knuckles from last
- 17:40year's team. I am just tired of hearing how our volleyball teams always young.
- 17:45I mean even I guess if you look at our roster like that's fine,
- 17:49but like I feel like the last four years we've always been young,
- 17:55and it's like an excuse for if we don't win a national champion ship.
- 18:00We say, oh, well, well we're young, we'll have it next
- 18:02year, like we'll be beginning. That's what they said last year. They're
- 18:06they're so young, that's why they lost. We've heard that last four or
- 18:08five years. So I do not have any seniors on the on the roster,
- 18:14but I will see that that's fair. I mean, that's true,
- 18:18but again, like we put that out there as if we also blame it
- 18:22if we don't win it, we also leave out like we had one of
- 18:26the greatest athletic collegiate recruiting classes ever, you know too. Yeah, and
- 18:30we continue to do that, like we'll go through our players here in a
- 18:34second, like, well, it's like, yeah, they're young, but
- 18:37they were also like five of the top seven students of that recruiting class in
- 18:42the nation. Yeah, they're young, but I just I just don't want
- 18:47to hear that excuse thrown out, like all we're learning, you know,
- 18:51we're still young, we're getting Well that's kind of what's happened in the past
- 18:53two or three years, four years. And yeah, we do have the
- 18:57one of, if not the best recruiting clas this year in and year out.
- 19:00So we should be competing for a national title year in and year out,
- 19:06which I believe we are. Like right, I think every tournament we
- 19:11have a chance to make the final four, if not win it. That's
- 19:17where do you how much do you tie in recruiting rankings and saying okay,
- 19:22you have a number one or number two recruiting class every year, you should
- 19:25be number one and two every year, Like, is that necessarily true?
- 19:29No? No, I think some people would would say it could be like
- 19:33you look at football, but it's not. I don't know. To me,
- 19:37having number one, number two recruiting class based on those it just means
- 19:41you're competing every year, and that's what the volleyball team continues to do.
- 19:45Like we're in a very different place as a program there than any other sport.
- 19:52So we don't know how to react. We're just right, we're good.
- 19:56We have expectations for the program, expectations, and when we don't meet
- 20:02him, it's like, well, I mean, you know we could have
- 20:07but no, I I mean we're young in the sense we don't have any
- 20:10seniors, but we have five juniors out of our how many players won two
- 20:15or three or four? Like seventeen players? Is that right? I don't
- 20:18know. Close your close your roster here. I want to do a quick
- 20:25exercise. Oh boy, we have fourteen players and our roster on Huskers dot
- 20:30com. How many of our current players are in state recruits from Nebraska?
- 20:36Ohain eight? I don't think that's a bad guess, honestly, yeah,
- 20:45I think that's actually pretty close because I know we had a couple of girls
- 20:48from Scott, Gretna, Norris, maybe seven. We're down to three guys,
- 21:00down three, and I was very surprised by that as well, because
- 21:03we have recruited hard from in state talent. Pilly and Lavista has been one.
- 21:10Scott, like you mentioned, Waverley has been a huge one. We
- 21:12have a girl from Norris, so our current three, miss Lindsay Krausey from
- 21:18Scott, a junior Becca Alic the sophomore from Waverley, and then Macy Bosiker,
- 21:23the sophomore from Norris. But other than that, it's all out of
- 21:29state, which surprised me, it really did. Yeah, I agree,
- 21:33I guess they're just all graduated or transfer. Are they out coming from the
- 21:41West coast or where they coming from? I think a little bit all over
- 21:45the place. We got North Carolina, South Dakota, Iowa, Ohio,
- 21:51Alabama, Texas, Utah, Michigan. So actually none from the West coast,
- 21:55so all yeah, I was completely off there. So anyways, I
- 22:00thought that was interesting. Don't know what that means, but Nebraska has been
- 22:04a very dominant heavy volleyball, dominant heavy sport and Omaha is getting two professional
- 22:12teams in the next year. Yeah, so Supernova season tickets lined up?
- 22:19No, no Supernova fans here, Nope, I didn't even know about that.
- 22:26You haven't be there opening night, man, I'm ready. Uh.
- 22:32We run the six two system in volleyball, which I don't know anything about
- 22:38volleyball rotations and systems. I think it probably would be interesting to learn,
- 22:44but I don't know, just never have. So we run the six two.
- 22:48From what Coach Cook has been saying, like that allows for a lot
- 22:52of subs, a lot of rotations. You can be very versatile with who
- 22:56you play. But with that being said, you have to have a lot
- 22:59of layers to do that. And I think that answered one of my questions
- 23:04that when I watch Husker volleyball throughout the year, I always wonder why the
- 23:08hell we sub so much and why like some of our best players aren't playing.
- 23:12Well, that's because of system that we're doing. Subs a lot and
- 23:18move people around a lot. Any insight into the sixth two, DAC,
- 23:22you seem like you know what the sixth two is. I have no idea.
- 23:26I know the two stands for the number of centers. Is it better
- 23:30than a three three five? It is it two defensive back stick down linemen
- 23:34or what is so? The six represents the number of hitters on the court,
- 23:41and the two stands for the number of setters. I got that all
- 23:44right. Usually there'll be three front row hitters and a back row setter.
- 23:48After three rotations of this, the setter rotates of the front row and becomes
- 23:51a hitter. H great, thanks Google. Sets for this year are Kennedy
- 23:59or In Bergen Riley. Kennedy's a junior, Bergen's a freshman competing for the
- 24:04starting spot. We have on our roster. We have six outside hitters.
- 24:11Now, I think the system has an opposite hitter, or I think I've
- 24:17heard it called maybe the right side that we're moving Lindsay Krausey over to.
- 24:22And then Merritt Beeson, an All SEC player from Florida who was also named
- 24:29a team captain in the spring, is moving to that right side opposite side
- 24:36hitter also a freshman, Caroline boy Jervicious a freshman. That's a good yes,
- 24:45I think good guests there. Our defensive specialist is Lexei Roderiguez and Laney
- 24:52chill Boy. She was the top ranked DS the country went to Minnesota,
- 25:03left Minnesota when their coach left, so she came to Nebraska. Yeah,
- 25:12the only preseason All American Watch correct preseasons. I believe I saw that somewhere
- 25:19too, Okay, So yeah, I think Lexi Rodriguez is good. That
- 25:26one's an obvious one. I'm interested to see hating Cubic yep. So yeah,
- 25:32getting to our outside of I guess these are a lot of our outsides.
- 25:40Yeah. Yeah, with bait and horst is in their Harper Murray twenty
- 25:45three GATORAD Player the Year, National Player of the Year Hayden Kubic now that
- 25:51her older sister Maddie's gone, those are the outsides. The opposite or right
- 25:59side is what lynds Z and Merritt are expected to play. So oh and
- 26:03then lastly, our middles Beca Alick, Maddie Mendelssohn, and then Andy Jackson,
- 26:10the top ranked middle number six ranked overall in this year's class. So
- 26:15bringing in another strong recruiting class, a lot of names, expecting most of
- 26:19these girls to play somehow in the mix. It's harder to find a depth
- 26:26chart out there for volleyball like you can for football, but those are some
- 26:29of the names that we see. It doesn't really matter for Cook, I
- 26:33mean, because that's what he does for the first half of the season.
- 26:36He just tinkers with the lineup anyways. So I suspect you're right. We
- 26:41will see most of these names early on in the year, and then as
- 26:45he kind of tunes it up when you get closer to the tournament time figuring
- 26:48out what his actual lineup is going to be. They are really young,
- 26:53though, hear the worst attack, get out of here. You are the
- 26:56same shirt and hat every week. You can't anything. He literally had like,
- 27:03goddamn hat every single podcast. You told me you were that every podcast.
- 27:08I believe you. Yeah, the same shirt you probably haven't changed in
- 27:14weeks, and you're like, nope, this is I won't change and wins
- 27:18the title. Oh boy, it's gonna be a stinky year. Free Jay
- 27:23House looks like that. I'll be going in your grave with yeah, yeah
- 27:27for you a volleyball guy. Nope, Nope at all. Agreed it that
- 27:34give me your projected wins for the Huskers. I don't know how many games.
- 27:38I'm not going to count them up. Let's say there's there's usually thirty
- 27:44is stright. Let's say thirty. How many wins of the Huskers get twenty
- 27:48eight and two? Wow, very optimistic. I would probably go lower than
- 27:56that. Just looking at our schedule, I guess so, yeah, think
- 28:00we're gonna be a good team. Volleyball Day is gonna be freaking sweet against
- 28:03Uno. Do you get takes of that, either of you. I'm driving
- 28:07up to Minneapolis that day. Ah, you're going the Purpose game. Wow,
- 28:14you didn't know that. I didn't. I thought you weren't. I
- 28:18would have just taken off Thursday and droven up. Volleyball day is gonna be
- 28:22freaking sweet. Anyways, So that's gonna be dope. We played number eighteen
- 28:26Creighton the first week of September. They we play Stanford, which is also
- 28:33a top number three team, and then right after that we played Kentucky,
- 28:40which is number ten, and then we go into Big Ten play, which
- 28:42is always kind of brutal. I don't think Ohio States ranked oh Ohio State's
- 28:48fourteen, so I mean Wisconsin twice. I just saw that. So there's
- 28:52two guaranteed dells. We start out, it's gonna be a rough start.
- 28:57Minnesota's a top ten team, so we start after Kansas State. We played
- 29:03number eighteen, Long Beach State, which I don't even know a Long Beach
- 29:07state's ranked. Are they ranked? No? Okay, no Long Beach State.
- 29:11So let me get a break there. So k State number eighteen,
- 29:15creating break number three, Stanford number ten, Kentucky number eighteen or number whatever,
- 29:21number fourteen, Ohio state, number seven, Minnesota. I mean,
- 29:26that's a pretty rough start, perduce number sixteen, which we then play number
- 29:30sixteen per two. But give me your give me your win total. I
- 29:36would say probably seven and twenty three, twenty three and seven, I'll go,
- 29:42I'll go under, I'll go twenty two and eight. I felt twenty
- 29:47three and seven was pretty low. But two, you're right. Two Wisconsins
- 29:51Penn State's always good. The starting right, here's the shot, the start
- 29:57that you're really rough though. I mean, that is a brutal first month.
- 30:03We'll learn a lot. You know, your schedule with young player,
- 30:06young players, a new new starting lineup. I don't want to say young,
- 30:08but new lineup. We've lost a lot of starters, not a lot,
- 30:14but half three. All right, that's enough volleyball talk for me for
- 30:18one. That was the best preview we've done volleyball or football or any volleyball.
- 30:26That's probably true, but it's also it's like, yeah, it's gonna
- 30:30be rough for everything else. Enjoy it. While volleyball is here, John
- 30:33Cook's gonna retire probably in the next three years. They're saying what should do
- 30:37a spinoff and do a Osker Volleyball podcast, saying stay in glory instead of
- 30:42maintain the glory. The glory all right. Week zero college football is here
- 30:48starting on Saturday. Every Wednesday from now until the end of football season,
- 30:57we will have a new segments. So when you hear this sound, that
- 31:04will mean that Da Code of Free Tag is on the clock for sixty seconds
- 31:11to give you his picks for the week. There will be very little prep
- 31:15time. He's not gonna know when it's going to come, and it's gonna
- 31:21be all his and microphone is gonna be his for sixty seconds to go through
- 31:26and give you as many winning picks as he can give you, only the
- 31:32pick along with him along if it usually if you bet the opposite, you're
- 31:40gonna have a pretty good day. So sixty seconds on the clock. He
- 31:47just took a big swing out of Red Solo Cup. I don't know what's
- 31:48in there, but I think he's prepping himself. He is ready to go.
- 31:52Sixty seconds on the clock, ready and go all right, maybe know
- 32:00her dame under then we got san Jumse state spread and then let's go let's
- 32:08go u tep oh, let's crap it, it just went out. Okay,
- 32:15keep going here, let's go and maybe spread. Let's go USC game
- 32:22over yep, uh Cable Williams underpacker. God, it will not load.
- 32:39This is a bad start. Okay, here we go. God, it's
- 32:45time. I'm gonna pull up everything and I'm just gonna read out loud,
- 32:49and you have to give me your cut take. So you gotta keep going.
- 32:52Yep, throw me out of game room. So you gotta go.
- 32:55You're tying, will go rolling. I saw Jack go. Here we go
- 33:00you Matt that day. By six and a half, I'll take that Ohio
- 33:07Ohio saying it's a state state. There by two, I'll take Ohio,
- 33:10Hawaii, Vanderbilt take Hawaii money line all right. So I might have gave
- 33:19you a couple of extra seconds, but that's how this is gonna work.
- 33:22Dak. You get no commentary from us until the end. So he is
- 33:28going to run with it, and then we got to summarize what he just
- 33:30picked. So I really don't know what all you just said. I got
- 33:34a couple of them. I know you took San Jose's State to cover the
- 33:37thirty one point spread, and he took the under for passing yards for Caleb
- 33:43Williams, which just feels like a pro Oklahoma choice, to be honest.
- 33:46I took under in the Navy our damn game and then Navy spread. So
- 33:54the only thing I gotta say on that is Navy is getting out of their
- 34:00traditional triple option, which is sad. I did not know that, so
- 34:06I figured you didn't. You had he said? He said Hawaii money line,
- 34:15didn't you? Yep? They're beating Vanderbilt did did? Do you know
- 34:20what the scorer that game was last year? Fifty nine or something like that.
- 34:24Yep, sixty three to ten. It was in Hawaii, and vander
- 34:29Vanderbilt returns more players than Hawaii does from last year's team. Upset. That's
- 34:37a big upset. I do like the San Jose State I think San Jose
- 34:42State is gonna score. I like that. Did you have anything FIU Lat
- 34:49Tech game? Yeah? I took it FIU. Did you get that in
- 34:54your sixty seconds or not? Yeah? Did you know a lot next quarterback
- 35:00is Hank back Meyer. Nope, I just took FIU because Dan Lebtard Scharl
- 35:05listened to when went to FIU. As long as you have good I take
- 35:13you mask over New Mexico State. That's bad, Dak. You bet you're
- 35:16betting against Jerry Kill Oh okay, Oh no, Jerry Kill is a New
- 35:23Mexico State. That's not what I wanted. And then the last game I
- 35:30took you tap, Dack, you're betting against rich Rod at Jacksonville State.
- 35:37No way, he's there. Yeah, he's at Jacksonville State. No way,
- 35:44the perfect predator or the not predecessor but successor for Dion Sanders. Nope,
- 35:50that's jackson State. Oh this is Jacksonville State. Yes, from Arizona
- 35:57to Jacksonville State, Jacksonville State. Yeah, they youtub one hundred percent in
- 36:06that game. So Dak, well, you'll have to do. You're gonna
- 36:09to summarize all your picks and send them do to us, and then we
- 36:14will put together Austin put together a nice little graphic out there, and we
- 36:20will keep track of your record throughout the year. It's so funny because as
- 36:25you're going through these like I have, I was doing some of my research
- 36:30and looking at games. I have a lot of the opposites. Did you
- 36:34do any did you do any h FCS games? No? Nope, And
- 36:42this is this has all got no research these picks all season, all season.
- 36:46It is very little research. And whatever elaboration you got, you probably
- 36:52got about as much as you're gonna get tonight. If you want to win
- 36:57money, follow it. Let's see if I had any other notes on the
- 37:02games this weekend. They're awful. Outside a Navy notre game, everything can
- 37:09watch US PAC twelve pack Love Network. Come on, do you know how
- 37:16the PAC twelve network deck? I don't. I've heard sometimes you can watch
- 37:21on your fridge. That's about it. I will say. I am pumped
- 37:25to watch the eight o'clock FIU lock Tech game. We get to see an
- 37:29opponent, future opponent, Louisiana's I did not even know Hank bach Meyer,
- 37:34the former Boise State quarterback that's been there forever. He's twenty four years old.
- 37:37Guys, Hank bach Meyer still has done nothing in college. Still say
- 37:44impartman and the coldest. Crawford goes a lot tech that's true, fired up
- 37:51to watch a game. But I do like the FIU pick their dak,
- 37:53I will say, I like the I like it to stay close, so
- 38:01very good. You don't like the Hawaiian money line, No, I'm betting
- 38:07Vanderbilt minus seventeen and a half. Let's see. Do you think there's a
- 38:15rally rally behind all the fires they've had down there? See, that's that's
- 38:20why I picked them. This this goes out to the white people. See,
- 38:23yeah, I got nothing. I can't defend that pick. That one's
- 38:28a tough one to defend. All right, We'll be back on Sunday game
- 38:34week for the Huskers. Go big red GVR. I love that burnt orange, dude,
