• 0:49
Speaker 3: my co host both of them, Hollis Lewis and Lisa Odie.
• 0:54
  Speaker 4: What's up? What's up?
• 0:56
Speaker 3: And just just so you know, you may want to
• 0:59
Speaker 3: sit down for a second and and and relaxed because
• 1:04
Speaker 3: I'm going to open the show.
• 1:06
Speaker 5: Grab some popcorn already that.
• 1:08
Speaker 3: We've we've already argued about this prior to even coming
• 1:13
Speaker 3: on air. I think everybody has seen the whole situation
• 1:16
Speaker 3: with with Chris Boyd.
• 1:19
Speaker 4: And the coach pushing the coach. We gotta gotta break
• 1:22
  Speaker 4: it down.
• 1:23
Speaker 3: So basically the way the whole, the whole setup sets
• 1:27
Speaker 3: up to me, this way, he gets a penalty on
• 1:31
  Speaker 3: the he.
• 1:31
Speaker 4: Got something the teams they might not.
• 1:33
Speaker 3: Know Texans in case, okay, okay, and it's and it's
• 1:39
Speaker 3: and it's a kickoff and so boys on the kickoff team.
• 1:44
  Speaker 4: He's running down.
• 1:46
Speaker 3: Blah blah blah blah, all that, and he makes he
• 1:48
Speaker 3: makes a tackle. He makes a tackle. Good, he makes
• 1:50
Speaker 3: a great play because they've returning seventy yards. He callses
• 1:53
Speaker 3: a fumble and he thinks that the Texans have covered
• 1:57
Speaker 3: the fumble, and therefore heads run off field, takes his
• 2:00
  Speaker 3: helmet off.
• 2:00
Speaker 4: You could take it from there.
• 2:01
Speaker 3: Okay, one to celebrate a fumble or any good play.
• 2:10
Speaker 4: Everybody in the world.
• 2:12
Speaker 3: Knows that you cannot take your helmet off before you
• 2:15
Speaker 3: get off the field.
• 2:16
Speaker 4: Well, let's start prior to that. Prior to that. Can
• 2:20
  Speaker 4: you help me?
• 2:21
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, the play wasn't complete because he
• 2:28
Speaker 3: doesn't know because he knocks the ball out. He went
• 2:32
Speaker 3: so quick to the sound. He doesn't even know if
• 2:34
Speaker 3: the Texans in fact recovered the fumble. So he shouldn't
• 2:37
Speaker 3: have been headed off in the first place. So I'm
• 2:39
Speaker 3: with you on that. So you shouldn't be heading off
• 2:41
Speaker 3: that way in the first place. So okay, So okay,
• 2:45
Speaker 3: with that being said, let's justify the helmet off.
• 2:49
Speaker 4: There is no justification.
• 2:50
Speaker 3: You can't justify it. I mean, he didn't take the
• 2:52
Speaker 3: helmet off. He toss tossed it off.
• 2:54
  Speaker 4: He like punished.
• 2:56
Speaker 3: There's no there's no play that you can make. There's
• 2:59
Speaker 3: no mistake that you can make that justifies you taking
• 3:05
Speaker 3: your helmet off. And at the point in time you're
• 3:07
  Speaker 3: taking your helmet.
• 3:08
Speaker 5: Off, he's not like going back to get it.
• 3:11
Speaker 4: He's he's still moving. No, he flung it. He took
• 3:14
Speaker 4: it off, and yeah, threw it and like like it
• 3:16
Speaker 4: ain't even and so like he's like heading to the sideline.
• 3:22
Speaker 3: Now, let's all put ourselves in the situation of the coach.
• 3:28
  Speaker 4: You know, everything.
• 3:30
Speaker 3: About what you just saw outside of the good play
• 3:34
Speaker 3: is dead wrong and there's flags coming.
• 3:39
Speaker 4: So now, so now you got a fifteen yard penalty.
• 3:42
Speaker 3: We see that in addition to the seventy yard kickoff
• 3:45
Speaker 3: return in casey Kansas City recovered the fump, right, So
• 3:49
Speaker 3: you just literally just destroyed everything that you did. Okay,
• 3:57
Speaker 3: So now for me and I'm I'm taking this as
• 4:02
  Speaker 3: a player's perspective.
• 4:05
  Speaker 4: Everything about that.
• 4:07
Speaker 3: In my mind as the player, I have to hear
• 4:11
Speaker 3: any and every criticism that any one of the coaches
• 4:15
Speaker 3: come up to me, whether it's a special teams coach,
• 4:17
Speaker 3: head coach, defensive coach, offensive coach, even one of the teammates.
• 4:23
Speaker 3: If you come up to me and say, what are
• 4:25
Speaker 3: you doing, there's no place for me to.
• 4:32
Speaker 4: Say anything back to you. Man, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
• 4:34
Speaker 3: I messed up much what he did. But we're to
• 4:40
Speaker 3: the point where he's pushing the coach. I don't care
• 4:43
Speaker 3: what the coach may say. You've been, You've you've been
• 4:47
Speaker 3: in sports. You've been, you've been in a position where
• 4:51
Speaker 3: somebody has authority over you, everybody has, and you've heard
• 4:57
Speaker 3: something that you absolutely did not like.
• 5:00
Speaker 4: I think you're looking too deep it. Oh my god, No,
• 5:02
Speaker 4: I'm not, hot heart. Let's take it. Let's take it
• 5:04
  Speaker 4: bit by bit.
• 5:06
Speaker 3: If you number one, he was in his excitement of
• 5:10
Speaker 3: causing the fumble, so he's a special team as a
• 5:12
Speaker 3: third teen fourteen cornerback, he makes a big play on
• 5:15
Speaker 3: special teams in a playoff game. He's so manic at
• 5:20
Speaker 3: this point that he loses, almost loses his mind temporarily
• 5:24
Speaker 3: and throws his helmut. He know he ain't supposed to
• 5:27
Speaker 3: do that, but he's so excited that he threw his
• 5:30
Speaker 3: helmet off. And to me, when I look at the video,
• 5:33
Speaker 3: it's almost I don't know if he even heard what
• 5:35
Speaker 3: the coaches saying. I don't even know if he was
• 5:37
Speaker 3: even like processing that the coach is telling him they're
• 5:40
Speaker 3: wrong or criticizing him. At the point, I think it
• 5:43
Speaker 3: was just an excitement and you push the coach like
• 5:45
Speaker 3: I made a play, Yeah, let's go. He because prior
• 5:48
Speaker 3: to the coach he even saying anything into it, he
• 5:50
Speaker 3: didn't even finish the play. He runs off, froze his helmet.
• 5:54
Speaker 3: That he was in a pure like I don't want
• 5:55
Speaker 3: to say manic because I don't want to lessen that term.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: But he was clearly not loose sit at that moment,
• 6:01
Speaker 3: all right, Clearly, I.
• 6:02
Speaker 4: Just want to I just I just want so.
• 6:04
Speaker 3: What I'm saying, he was wrong for pushing, but I
• 6:06
Speaker 3: don't think he had any malicious intent with it.
• 6:09
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 6:10
  Speaker 3: I've known Lisa for a long time, We've done a
• 6:12
Speaker 3: lot of shows together. But I don't know if I've
• 6:15
Speaker 3: ever seen her like look at somebody.
• 6:21
Speaker 6: Because well, okay, okay, guys, well I feel like maybe
• 6:29
Speaker 6: it wasn't malicious, but he definitely was overcome with emotion.
• 6:33
Speaker 6: He was very happy about the play on the field.
• 6:36
Speaker 6: But that's not the way to get off the special
• 6:39
Speaker 6: teams is by taking off onto the sideline and pushing
• 6:45
Speaker 6: your coach, you know, because I'm sure what the coach
• 6:47
Speaker 6: said was you can't take your helmet off.
• 6:49
Speaker 5: You can't take something for sure, you know. And he
• 6:52
Speaker 5: may maybe he could have softened it. I don't know.
• 6:54
Speaker 6: We don't know exactly what the coach said, correct, we
• 6:56
Speaker 6: don't know exactly what the verbal exchange was, but he
• 7:00
Speaker 6: could have maybe softened it a little bit with hey,
• 7:03
Speaker 6: great play. But but but maybe that is what happened.
• 7:06
Speaker 6: I don't know, But it definitely does not give him.
• 7:11
Speaker 5: The right to push the coach.
• 7:13
Speaker 6: And and from what I'm seeing, maybe he wasn't in
• 7:16
Speaker 6: an excited emotional state.
• 7:18
Speaker 5: But the push was hard. The pushure was hard.
• 7:20
Speaker 4: For sure, And it wasn't it wasn't. It wasn't to celebrate.
• 7:23
  Speaker 5: I don't think it was.
• 7:25
Speaker 4: It wasn't. No, no, no, no, no.
• 7:27
Speaker 3: I think he was no way, no way, because I don't.
• 7:30
  Speaker 3: I don't think he did.
• 7:30
  Speaker 4: He did.
• 7:31
Speaker 3: He he was so like you said, he was so
• 7:33
Speaker 3: overcome with emotion. He didn't even realize that they didn't recover.
• 7:36
  Speaker 4: Okay, he.
• 7:40
Speaker 3: Makes this statement, he makes this statement that is not
• 7:44
Speaker 3: my character. Okay, so so to me, that clearly says
• 7:50
Speaker 3: to me, he was upset and he pushed them. That
• 7:53
Speaker 3: doesn't say that I was emotional. I was too emotional
• 7:57
Speaker 3: and I was out of my emotion good and bad.
• 8:01
  Speaker 4: For sure.
• 8:02
Speaker 3: He wasn't pushing him like gosh, I just made this
• 8:05
Speaker 3: great play. He's knowing at this point he knows his
• 8:12
Speaker 3: helmet's still on the field, the flags are on the field.
• 8:14
  Speaker 3: I don't think he knows. I don't think he knows.
• 8:17
  Speaker 3: I don't think he realizes. I don't think he realized.
• 8:20
Speaker 3: He probably the coach is saying something to probably even
• 8:24
Speaker 3: through his helm, until the coach, until everything come down,
• 8:27
Speaker 3: because yea, even after the fact when he was talking
• 8:34
Speaker 3: like every after they calmed down, because they actually talked
• 8:36
Speaker 3: after like after everything calmed down, the coach and had exchange.
• 8:39
Speaker 4: Not it wasn't a bad exchange. The coach was basically
• 8:41
  Speaker 4: if you read.
• 8:42
Speaker 3: The lips was like calm down, like relax, and he was,
• 8:46
Speaker 3: and boy was he could see in his eyes like,
• 8:48
Speaker 3: oh yeah, I was.
• 8:49
Speaker 4: I was out of my mind. I think he was
• 8:51
  Speaker 4: he blacked out.
• 8:52
Speaker 3: I think he got totally overcome with emotion and it
• 8:55
Speaker 3: was just up and he didn't really realize. That's what
• 8:58
  Speaker 3: I'm saying. I'm not saying he's wrong. I'm not saying
• 9:00
Speaker 3: that he should have pushed him. I'm not saying whatever
• 9:02
Speaker 3: like that. I'm not saying he's not right. But I
• 9:05
  Speaker 3: don't think it was Malicia's intent. That's what I'm saying.
• 9:07
  Speaker 4: Please help me.
• 9:09
Speaker 6: I don't I kind of see that both of what
• 9:12
Speaker 6: size of both? What if you know you're both saying
• 9:15
Speaker 6: is is? I do feel like he was overcome with emotion,
• 9:18
Speaker 6: and if he would have been not so upset or
• 9:22
Speaker 6: so excited or all those emotions he was feeling, he
• 9:24
Speaker 6: probably wouldn't have pushed the coach the way he did.
• 9:27
Speaker 6: But I don't feel like it was celebratory. I do
• 9:30
Speaker 6: feel like he was upset with the coach, with the
• 9:33
Speaker 6: you know, the criticism that he was given by the coach.
• 9:34
Speaker 5: He already knew he messed up.
• 9:36
Speaker 6: I'm sure in his mind, he knew that he shouldn't
• 9:37
Speaker 6: have taken this helmet off, you know, probably realized there
• 9:41
Speaker 6: was a penalty flag on the field that he was
• 9:43
Speaker 6: responsible for. And he comes on the sideline and the
• 9:45
Speaker 6: coach just kind of rubbed salt in the wound and
• 9:47
Speaker 6: then there you go.
• 9:48
Speaker 5: Now that was the reaction.
• 9:49
Speaker 3: I don't even know if you have time, fraud to
• 9:51
Speaker 3: process all that. That thing happened so fast. Okay. That's
• 9:55
Speaker 3: that's the dude or the person who you say something
• 10:00
Speaker 3: to and they're ready to swing on you, and you're like, dude,
• 10:03
Speaker 3: what do you do?
• 10:03
Speaker 4: Why are you swinging?
• 10:04
  Speaker 3: Because because that's because that's that emotion, that's what that's
• 10:07
Speaker 3: how I react. Okay, But in your emotional state, you're
• 10:11
Speaker 3: clearly not thinks, you're.
• 10:12
  Speaker 5: Clearly not prosing.
• 10:14
  Speaker 4: Okay.
• 10:14
Speaker 3: So if if it's supposed to be a life lesson, okay,
• 10:18
Speaker 3: and let's just assume, let's just as maybe so maybe
• 10:23
Speaker 3: let's just say I'm assuming he played high school balls
• 10:27
Speaker 3: we want we'll started high school. So in high school
• 10:30
Speaker 3: and through college at some point in time, I like
• 10:34
Speaker 3: to think that he can learned the lesson of the
• 10:36
Speaker 3: things that you can't do and and and then and
• 10:39
Speaker 3: then if you get you get that mad playing you're
• 10:44
Speaker 3: not playing. It's not about him getting mad. He was
• 10:48
Speaker 3: just emotional. The whole emotion. Define emotion. Emotional is that
• 10:53
Speaker 3: when you are as an extreme of emotion. So that
• 10:56
Speaker 3: whether that's so you're saying, whether that's mad, what I'm saying,
• 10:59
Speaker 3: So you're saying he from celebrating, no no, no, from
• 11:03
Speaker 3: the or if you're saying that he's getting he got
• 11:06
Speaker 3: mad at push the coach. What I'm saying if you
• 11:08
Speaker 3: look at the play from the very beginning of the play,
• 11:11
Speaker 3: as soon as he made the big play, he got
• 11:13
  Speaker 3: so high.
• 11:14
  Speaker 4: That's emotional.
• 11:15
Speaker 3: And then if you're saying that he got mad at
• 11:17
Speaker 3: the coach, then he got so mad, that's emotional. So
• 11:19
Speaker 3: I'm saying that whole play, from start to finish, he
• 11:22
Speaker 3: was so emotionally charged that again, I think he was
• 11:26
Speaker 3: just moving. And like I said, I'm not arguing whether
• 11:29
Speaker 3: right or wrong. Of course he was wrong. I'm just
• 11:31
Speaker 3: saying far as his intention, I don't think he was
• 11:34
Speaker 3: a malice or a malicious intent, okay. And I think
• 11:37
Speaker 3: the lesson is just don't be so damn the emotional
• 11:42
Speaker 3: So Okay, I said darn, I said, darn.
• 11:45
  Speaker 4: So so.
• 11:49
Speaker 3: My thing, my my thing is what he should be
• 11:53
Speaker 3: thinking is how I should be controlling my emotions. Of course, Okay,
• 11:58
Speaker 3: So if if the whatever the emotion was, let's just
• 12:02
Speaker 3: say it was good or bad, it doesn't make any difference.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: The moment that he threw was helmet because he was celebrating.
• 12:09
Speaker 3: Let's say that was that he was celebrating at that point. Okay,
• 12:13
Speaker 3: that's too much. It is the whole thing is much. Okay,
• 12:16
Speaker 3: so that's too much. So that right there.
• 12:19
Speaker 4: Says, Okay, you can't handle making play.
• 12:22
Speaker 3: The moment he knocked the ball out and didn't try
• 12:24
Speaker 3: to jump on the ball, that's too much moment, he
• 12:29
Speaker 3: then and to me, to me, then you're not necessarily
• 12:35
Speaker 3: prepared yet for professional sports.
• 12:39
Speaker 4: Because so bad, because it's a bad moment.
• 12:43
Speaker 3: It was a great place he made a name prior
• 12:46
Speaker 3: to this, and and way to me, and and and
• 12:49
Speaker 3: the fact that we could hear it again. Playing is
• 12:51
Speaker 3: an issue. I'm just gonna say. I his career, I
• 12:55
Speaker 3: want to say one. I want to say from eighty three,
• 12:58
Speaker 3: from from when I when I came into the league
• 13:01
Speaker 3: in eighty three, Let's just say eighty three to eighty nine. Okay,
• 13:06
Speaker 3: I'm going to make the case. You put your hands
• 13:09
Speaker 3: on a coach, I don't care how you do it.
• 13:12
  Speaker 4: You are not.
• 13:14
Speaker 3: On that team. You are not on that team. Yeah,
• 13:17
  Speaker 3: that's extreme, it's extreme. I don't know nothing. I know
• 13:21
Speaker 3: what I played in that's all I know.
• 13:23
Speaker 6: Okay, So so let's let's look beyond the reasons it happened.
• 13:26
Speaker 6: Let's look at what the consequences were. Were there consequences
• 13:29
Speaker 6: for him after the game? I know that they lost
• 13:32
Speaker 6: the game. That might be consequence of that. I don't know,
• 13:34
Speaker 6: But I mean, were there any like kind of penalty.
• 13:38
Speaker 3: No, No, there's no milicious intent. That's why, because I
• 13:42
  Speaker 3: don't believe there's militia's intent.
• 13:44
Speaker 5: I think there should be some type.
• 13:45
  Speaker 4: I don't think. I don't think.
• 13:46
  Speaker 3: I don't think no one is. I don't think anybody's
• 13:48
Speaker 3: aware of like what because this this is and I'm
• 13:52
Speaker 3: sure it's happened at some point, but I don't know
• 13:56
Speaker 3: of it ever happening, and most people don't know that
• 13:59
Speaker 3: it happen, not saying it didn't, but but the reaction.
• 14:04
Speaker 6: You mean, if a player pushing coach in the NFL
• 14:07
Speaker 6: didn't didn't that happen last year with Travis Kelcey and
• 14:10
  Speaker 6: and I'm sorry.
• 14:11
  Speaker 4: Yes it did.
• 14:12
Speaker 3: Yes, you're right, and it happened, and coaches and players
• 14:15
Speaker 3: each other's face in the seat. It happens. But it
• 14:17
Speaker 3: happened in your a. It happened in every area. Happened,
• 14:21
Speaker 3: not in my era. We just ain't have a camera
• 14:23
Speaker 3: on everything in your era, so you may I don't know, Bro,
• 14:27
  Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you. I don't know a single player
• 14:32
Speaker 3: that would be on a Bud Grant team now. And
• 14:36
Speaker 3: there's some there's some dudes that who have short tempers,
• 14:40
Speaker 3: and I'm sure that they've had conversations with Bud, some
• 14:44
Speaker 3: hard conversations with Bud, but they ain't gonna put their
• 14:48
Speaker 3: hands on them. And thinking that you're gonna be playing
• 14:50
  Speaker 3: in the.
• 14:50
  Speaker 4: Purple and goal.
• 14:54
Speaker 3: I think it's happened. Bud can cut it for less
• 14:56
Speaker 3: than that. Buck would cut it for less than that.
• 14:58
  Speaker 3: I don't think you cut him. It's like I said,
• 14:59
  Speaker 3: it was emotional.
• 15:01
Speaker 4: But what's okay. Let me ask this question.
• 15:03
Speaker 3: Let's just say one of the players at West Virginia
• 15:07
Speaker 3: State when I was coaching, would put their hands on me.
• 15:14
Speaker 3: They are they are they do they have money?
• 15:16
Speaker 4: And do they have money? Are they playing on?
• 15:20
Speaker 3: You have to measure. But that's the thing though, You
• 15:22
Speaker 3: have to measure. Intention is vital. It's like even in
• 15:27
Speaker 3: the court, in the court system, just because you do
• 15:30
Speaker 3: something that don't mean because you have to measure and
• 15:35
Speaker 3: you have to calculate that in and in this situation,
• 15:38
Speaker 3: this was just a guy who was emotionally out of
• 15:41
Speaker 3: control and he made a dumb decision because he was
• 15:44
Speaker 3: emotionally out of control.
• 15:45
Speaker 4: He didn't have any intention to hurt this coach or
• 15:47
  Speaker 4: do anything like.
• 15:49
Speaker 3: He went from he went from as high as he
• 15:53
Speaker 3: could be celebrating a play that he made to what
• 16:00
  Speaker 3: I think.
• 16:02
Speaker 4: To a place that makes no sense to me of
• 16:06
  Speaker 4: pushing your coach.
• 16:09
Speaker 3: In that in that kind of a situation, am I
• 16:13
Speaker 3: am I there to have that those two well.
• 16:16
Speaker 6: I agree with what you're saying as far as being
• 16:18
Speaker 6: physical with a coach that that's never acceptable. But I
• 16:22
Speaker 6: do think it's too extreme to throw them completely off
• 16:25
Speaker 6: the team because of the behavior. I do think there
• 16:27
Speaker 6: should be some type of concept and it will be
• 16:30
Speaker 6: I think that's the compromise right there for me. How
• 16:32
Speaker 6: many days have been have happened.
• 16:33
Speaker 4: How many days have been Yeah, but not the playoffs.
• 16:35
Speaker 3: They probably handled internally, Like I said, if you watch
• 16:38
Speaker 3: the exchange on the sideline between them and the coach,
• 16:40
Speaker 3: they were fine after that, Like because I think the coaches,
• 16:42
Speaker 3: now what what what we should be getting emotional about
• 16:45
Speaker 3: is Patrick Mahomes and the referees. That's what I want
• 16:50
Speaker 3: to because it don't seem like this is a problem.
• 16:56
Speaker 3: This is an issue because we're not going to even
• 16:59
Speaker 3: have the same use again on this.
• 17:01
Speaker 6: Well, well this is ridiculous. Well it is, it is.
• 17:08
Speaker 6: And even the commentators during the game, I think it
• 17:11
Speaker 6: was Troy he was like, this is out of control.
• 17:15
Speaker 6: Like he even called out a couple of the calls
• 17:18
Speaker 6: that were on the Texans. It was like, you know,
• 17:22
Speaker 6: roughing the passer. You know that they showed the replays.
• 17:25
Speaker 6: I wish we had video or you know that you
• 17:27
Speaker 6: could see, but we can't obviously do that on radio.
• 17:29
Speaker 6: But they were very very tik tacky crazy that really
• 17:34
Speaker 6: changed the outcome of the game. And and this isn't
• 17:37
Speaker 6: new for for you know, Patrick Mahomes. It seems like
• 17:41
Speaker 6: I don't want to say he gets special treatment, but
• 17:43
Speaker 6: he gets special treatment that's what I'm gonna I'm gonna
• 17:45
Speaker 6: put it out. I don't want to say it, but
• 17:47
Speaker 6: I'm going to know that's why I said it that way.
• 17:51
Speaker 6: But I mean, I feel like and then there's the
• 17:53
Speaker 6: one referee that seems to have a little more leniency
• 17:59
Speaker 6: for him as far as his penalties go. And I
• 18:01
Speaker 6: can't his name escapes my mom but it'll come to
• 18:04
Speaker 6: me in a minute. But you know, everybody's kind of
• 18:08
Speaker 6: tired of the same rhetoric coming out of Chiefs games,
• 18:12
Speaker 6: and that is they protect Patrick Mahomes to the point
• 18:15
Speaker 6: that it's beyond the normal protection that quarterbacks are granted
• 18:20
Speaker 6: in the NFL on this day and age.
• 18:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm a quarterback, so you know I want
• 18:25
Speaker 3: to be protected. But I think the point like even
• 18:27
Speaker 3: Treydman and they didn't the referees actually did a good
• 18:30
Speaker 3: job on this car.
• 18:30
Speaker 4: They didn't call it.
• 18:31
Speaker 3: But what Patrick Mahomes will do is that when he
• 18:34
Speaker 3: takes off and he scrambles out the pocket, he runs
• 18:36
Speaker 3: down the field, he'll slow up once he gets to
• 18:39
Speaker 3: the sidelines, trying to incite the defense to hit him.
• 18:42
Speaker 3: So it's like stuff like that. And then if you
• 18:45
Speaker 3: do like a one to one comparison to like Lamar
• 18:47
Speaker 3: Jackson or Josh Allen or other quarterbacks in the league.
• 18:51
Speaker 3: The defensive players will make similar plays against them, and
• 18:54
Speaker 3: these quarterbacks don't get that call. And I think it
• 18:56
Speaker 3: just hurts the integrity of the game if it's clear
• 18:59
Speaker 3: to see that you have one player getting special treatment.
• 19:03
  Speaker 3: You know, it's just it just I don't know, it's
• 19:05
Speaker 3: just I don't like it at all. And sometimes what
• 19:08
Speaker 3: comes with that is, you know, people will say certain teams.
• 19:12
Speaker 4: Not necessarily this is this is kind of interesting that
• 19:16
  Speaker 4: it's a player.
• 19:16
  Speaker 3: It's a player, but a lot of times it's it's
• 19:20
Speaker 3: a team. You know that, you know that the officials
• 19:23
Speaker 3: because they think this team should be good what I
• 19:28
Speaker 3: would hate to think. But not saying impossible that there
• 19:34
Speaker 3: could be officials. I've got a list. It's that could
• 19:44
Speaker 3: could step over the line. Whatever that is. I'm not
• 19:47
Speaker 3: taking it to like you know, betting or putting, having
• 19:52
Speaker 3: having ways to make money on on the game. They
• 19:56
Speaker 3: just in the league's interest. Maybe y in is Patrick
• 19:59
Speaker 3: h going to the super Bows and plane.
• 20:01
Speaker 4: Well, I'm not even I'm not saying that.
• 20:03
Speaker 3: I'm just I'm just I'm trying to make the case
• 20:05
Speaker 3: that Okay, I can see officials making calls and officials
• 20:11
Speaker 3: not making calls. I think there could be possibly a
• 20:15
Speaker 3: group of officials who wouldn't want to protect. But while
• 20:20
  Speaker 3: I don't like they want to, I don't if they
• 20:23
Speaker 3: would have to be working in the league's interests in
• 20:25
Speaker 3: order to do that, because it's not their interesting.
• 20:28
  Speaker 4: I don't make sure Patrick.
• 20:29
  Speaker 3: I don't think that there's a time between the league
• 20:32
Speaker 3: and the officials. I think I think if it's anything
• 20:36
Speaker 3: it's it would be officials and whether it's money betting
• 20:43
Speaker 3: that type of thing.
• 20:44
  Speaker 4: I don't see. I don't see. I don't see who.
• 20:48
Speaker 3: I don't Again, my fear of that would be who
• 20:51
Speaker 3: would who would risk that that? If you're in that
• 20:54
Speaker 3: position to get to the officials and and say, hey,
• 20:57
Speaker 3: you know, make this work for us? I think I
• 21:01
Speaker 3: think I think the league it's in their interest from
• 21:04
Speaker 3: their standpoint, in order to have Patrick Mahomes be a superstar,
• 21:09
Speaker 3: because every league needs a superstar and making sure that
• 21:13
Speaker 3: person goes as far as we can.
• 21:16
Speaker 6: But I think it's the chiefs in general, too, don't
• 21:18
Speaker 6: you Because you also got the all the glamour and
• 21:21
Speaker 6: the glick Taylor Swift and Travis Kelceyeah, because.
• 21:26
Speaker 3: The way Kayler Clark was at the game the other day,
• 21:28
Speaker 3: the last game they played the Texas. So it's like
• 21:30
Speaker 3: they like that superstar. Because now you're bringing in people
• 21:35
Speaker 3: who don't watch football, they don't know nothing about football,
• 21:38
Speaker 3: but they know Kayler Clark and they might know Taylor Swift.
• 21:40
  Speaker 3: So it's like it's it's sort of like a pop
• 21:42
  Speaker 3: culture crossover.
• 21:44
  Speaker 4: So that's what I'm saying.
• 21:45
Speaker 3: And it's like when you take all that into the
• 21:47
Speaker 3: account and then what we're clearly seeing on the field
• 21:50
Speaker 3: as far as what's being called and what's not being called,
• 21:53
Speaker 3: it's not a good look for you, maybe a pure
• 21:56
Speaker 3: you know football fan.
• 21:58
Speaker 6: Well, obviously Clay Martin is his name, and we are
• 22:01
Speaker 6: definitely calling I don't care, this is this is public record, guys.
• 22:06
Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not calling anything out down Mahomes has
• 22:12
Speaker 6: a seven and oh record when Clay Martin referees his games.
• 22:15
Speaker 6: Oh okay, so what they did? I guess the NFL.
• 22:19
Speaker 4: They've only lost what two games? Period? So you so
• 22:23
Speaker 4: you could make the case there's.
• 22:24
Speaker 6: A whole list of these guys that under those guys,
• 22:27
Speaker 6: and I'm not going to go through all the names,
• 22:29
Speaker 6: but he's a combined twenty five and oh with Clay
• 22:33
Speaker 6: Martin and these other six or seven guys.
• 22:36
Speaker 4: So that's over how many seasons I.
• 22:38
Speaker 5: Would say since he started. I guess he started. That's
• 22:43
  Speaker 5: that's it.
• 22:43
Speaker 6: So Mahome's starting record by referee and he the best.
• 22:47
Speaker 6: The one that likes him the best is Clay.
• 22:48
Speaker 3: Martin, and Clay Martin is Clay maarn like the head
• 22:51
Speaker 3: referee or who I wouldn't jud.
• 22:54
Speaker 5: Yeah, listen to this.
• 22:55
Speaker 6: So the NFL, I guess they've kind of heeded all this,
• 22:58
Speaker 6: All this chat are about, you know, the referees and
• 23:01
Speaker 6: the chiefs, and so that they have assigned Cleete Blakeman,
• 23:07
Speaker 6: with whom Mahomes has his second worst win percentage, So
• 23:11
Speaker 6: we're gonna see he's gonna be He's been assigned to
• 23:13
Speaker 6: the AFC Championship Game.
• 23:14
Speaker 5: And again that makes a difference.
• 23:16
Speaker 3: This is where we're at in sports. Were now we
• 23:18
Speaker 3: gotta know referees names, so we gotta go like, we
• 23:21
Speaker 3: gotta know referees records, so just like we know players,
• 23:24
Speaker 3: just like we know everything. Okay, we need to analyze
• 23:27
Speaker 3: the ref in this one. So we need to know
• 23:29
Speaker 3: the record, we need to know the names.
• 23:31
Speaker 5: We need to answer me that that we're really going there.
• 23:33
  Speaker 5: We're there because.
• 23:35
Speaker 6: The outcome of games are changing because of some of
• 23:38
Speaker 6: the calls of the referee.
• 23:40
Speaker 3: Let me ask this question is part of that too,
• 23:44
Speaker 3: because of does this bring into the fact of gambling,
• 23:49
Speaker 3: because now again you know about that, the fact that
• 23:54
Speaker 3: you know, you can't control people on the outside betting
• 23:57
Speaker 3: and all that kind of stuff, but you know, allowing
• 24:02
Speaker 3: players to have that opportunity to, you know, they want
• 24:05
Speaker 3: to bet on the game whatever.
• 24:07
Speaker 4: I think what players are not supposed to. They're not
• 24:09
Speaker 4: supposed to. They're not supposed to.
• 24:10
Speaker 3: But with all of this, with all of this, if
• 24:13
Speaker 3: this is the reality of it, and I'm playing, and
• 24:16
Speaker 3: I and and I got I got you as the official,
• 24:20
Speaker 3: and I know I know where you are, you know,
• 24:22
Speaker 3: I know you with us see, And that's to me,
• 24:31
Speaker 3: that's where it gets dicey, because not only are I
• 24:34
Speaker 3: mean sports betting like the apps are directly in bed
• 24:39
Speaker 3: with the NFL, like ESPN has its own books. It's
• 24:45
Speaker 3: it's literally sport. So I don't know how you get
• 24:49
  Speaker 3: around it.
• 24:49
  Speaker 4: I don't know.
• 24:50
Speaker 3: And again I'm not accusing anybody of anything. But I
• 24:53
Speaker 3: don't know how you get around players not betting, coaches,
• 24:57
Speaker 3: GM's league officials. I don't know how you get around that.
• 25:02
Speaker 3: And if you have those individuals who are betty and
• 25:04
Speaker 3: I'm sure there's probably some sort of watch dog who
• 25:06
Speaker 3: watches maybe stuff like this, But like you said, I
• 25:08
Speaker 3: get my buddy and my wife whatever to make places
• 25:10
Speaker 3: best for me. But if you have these individuals who
• 25:13
Speaker 3: are so closely tied with these organizations, it's bound to
• 25:18
Speaker 3: get dirty. We've seen show hell ol Tani a baseball player, right, yes,
• 25:22
Speaker 3: you know what I mean, son, and a couple other
• 25:24
Speaker 3: guys who've got actually suspended and kicked out of leagues
• 25:27
Speaker 3: right recently. And see, and that's and see, that's the
• 25:29
Speaker 3: reality of when you when you start talking about, Okay,
• 25:35
Speaker 3: we'd sit in the meeting the beginning of the year,
• 25:38
Speaker 3: no betting, no doubt, all that kind of stuff. Guys
• 25:42
Speaker 3: weren't really even overly impactful. And it wasn't like it
• 25:46
  Speaker 3: is today.
• 25:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah for sure.
• 25:48
Speaker 3: Because now you're watching an NFL game, you're telling me
• 25:51
  Speaker 3: I can't bet, right, I can't. I can't bet on
• 25:53
Speaker 3: the team. I can't do any of that. But the
• 25:57
Speaker 3: primary commercials, all of them harm all about betting. So
• 26:07
Speaker 3: to me, I'm thinking, if you got your if you
• 26:11
Speaker 3: put yourself in this situation.
• 26:13
Speaker 4: I'm looking at I'm like, shame on you.
• 26:16
Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's just and I to go a step
• 26:19
Speaker 6: further with this referee thing. Do you think now that
• 26:22
Speaker 6: it's to the point where NFL teams when they're preparing
• 26:25
Speaker 6: for these a game or a playoff game, even that
• 26:28
Speaker 6: they are researching who the reps are.
• 26:30
  Speaker 4: Going to be.
• 26:31
Speaker 6: I mean, if we got this information, they definitely.
• 26:34
  Speaker 4: Have to happen.
• 26:36
Speaker 3: Again to do but would with the statistics and the
• 26:42
Speaker 3: way they do things now they are one hundred percent
• 26:45
Speaker 3: analyzed and the referees and I.
• 26:47
  Speaker 4: Don't know that.
• 26:48
Speaker 3: But what I will say is, guys know who calls
• 26:54
Speaker 3: this and who calls that? Like you, you you'll remember
• 26:58
Speaker 3: the official who who called two pass infense three past
• 27:02
Speaker 3: interferences on you, right? You know he's that guy. You
• 27:06
Speaker 3: also know who didn't do?
• 27:08
  Speaker 4: You know?
• 27:08
Speaker 3: And you think you know that you I pulled jersey.
• 27:11
Speaker 3: I know he saw it, but he let it go.
• 27:13
Speaker 3: You you start to know who these guys are and
• 27:18
Speaker 3: two U All's point now, if you if you know
• 27:22
Speaker 3: that if you know who who's calling this, who's not
• 27:26
Speaker 3: calling that. I think that's dangerous to the game.
• 27:32
Speaker 4: Man. Well, I mean how we get around him?
• 27:34
  Speaker 5: This speaks volumes.
• 27:35
Speaker 6: After the game, you had one of the players, of course,
• 27:39
Speaker 6: defensive end, Will Anderson Junior, said, we knew it was Yes,
• 27:43
Speaker 6: he was the one that got called right for the
• 27:45
Speaker 6: for the roughing the passer. We knew it was going
• 27:49
Speaker 6: to be us versus the refs going into the game,
• 27:51
Speaker 6: he said that. And then you have coach Ryan's said,
• 27:54
Speaker 6: we knew going into this game that it was us
• 27:56
Speaker 6: versus everybody, and I mean every day. Yeah, he did say,
• 28:01
Speaker 6: you know, they probably got their paperworking, not him.
• 28:04
Speaker 3: Not him, because because I think with advanced analytics, you know,
• 28:07
Speaker 3: they break down everything anyway, they're definitely breaking down the referees.
• 28:10
Speaker 3: And I think it's just I to me because when
• 28:13
Speaker 3: you say, well, you shouldn't do this, so you shouldn't
• 28:16
Speaker 3: better do that. But it's when it's all in your face,
• 28:19
Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And the thing is, not
• 28:22
Speaker 3: only is it all in your face that you got
• 28:25
Speaker 3: millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars or some case
• 28:28
Speaker 3: thousands of dollars, just kind of just throw away and
• 28:30
Speaker 3: play with. That's not you ain't got to pay. You
• 28:33
Speaker 3: struggle to pay your light deal, you know what I mean.
• 28:35
Speaker 3: You got money to sort of play with. So how
• 28:38
Speaker 3: do you balance that as a player. I'm young, you know,
• 28:40
Speaker 3: I'm kind of living fast. And now I got all
• 28:43
Speaker 3: this in my face. And I know the players, I
• 28:44
Speaker 3: know the refs, I know this stuff. So and to
• 28:48
Speaker 3: and to the valid point, it's like, it's not like
• 28:50
Speaker 3: they're not going to Vegas and not going to these
• 28:51
Speaker 3: different places and I go to some shady bookie. Yeah right,
• 28:57
Speaker 3: it's anymore. And I'd like to think that we haven't
• 29:01
Speaker 3: that we that we wouldn't have gotten to this place
• 29:04
Speaker 3: to where players should have the opportunity to to bet
• 29:11
Speaker 3: on if you bet on yourself, So you think they
• 29:15
Speaker 3: should be able to do that?
• 29:16
Speaker 4: To this point, why, I mean, who's who's making it?
• 29:20
Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, but I'm not gonna give up
• 29:26
Speaker 4: it is but you.
• 29:28
Speaker 3: But you you told me years ago you can't do nothing,
• 29:33
Speaker 3: and now you're benefiting commercial wise, dollar wise, that's a
• 29:40
Speaker 3: whole new revenue stream that you're benefiting from that everybody
• 29:45
Speaker 3: else can bet m.
• 29:49
Speaker 4: Why can't I bet that we can be well, so you,
• 29:52
Speaker 4: but you can only.
• 29:56
Speaker 6: Problem happens when you bet for your team to lose again,
• 29:59
  Speaker 6: that's when.
• 29:59
Speaker 3: You have a problem, or when you're betting points, right, yeah,
• 30:05
Speaker 3: points could be the issue winning and losing. I'm thinking
• 30:10
  Speaker 3: in my mind, one, I can't give you. I can't
• 30:15
  Speaker 3: I can't bet on you as a quarterback. I can't
• 30:18
Speaker 3: bet on the receiver or such and such like that,
• 30:20
Speaker 3: because I'm that's on me. If you're giving up points,
• 30:25
Speaker 3: if you're the if you're the dude who wants to
• 30:27
Speaker 3: give up the point to make sure you win your bet,
• 30:30
Speaker 3: that's an issue. I don't know if you can control
• 30:34
Speaker 3: some people. But some people are going to be degenerate.
• 30:37
Speaker 3: So they're not gonna just bet the thousands or the hundreds,
• 30:40
Speaker 3: a couple of hundred dollars. They're gonna bet the tens,
• 30:42
Speaker 3: the fifteen. They're going to get up to the millions
• 30:44
Speaker 3: of dollars on this stuff. And when you find yourself
• 30:47
Speaker 3: in a hole, it's a way to get out.
• 30:50
Speaker 4: Of that hug, right, you know. And then and then
• 30:53
  Speaker 4: what you.
• 30:53
Speaker 3: Make prop bets, like what if so you're gonna bet
• 30:55
Speaker 3: on your buddy, he's going to have a hundred. He's
• 30:57
Speaker 3: gonna have this or he's gonna do this. It's just
• 30:59
Speaker 3: too many veritables. And okay, let me ask this question.
• 31:03
Speaker 3: So let's say I'm in a bye week and or
• 31:07
Speaker 3: I'm out of the playoffs, okay, and I got these
• 31:10
Speaker 3: games coming up this weekend?
• 31:14
Speaker 4: Is it okay for me to bet on?
• 31:16
  Speaker 3: Is that?
• 31:16
  Speaker 4: I wonder if it's.
• 31:18
Speaker 3: Let's look that up at the break, because I'm not
• 31:20
Speaker 3: actually sure about that. I don't know if you can.
• 31:23
Speaker 3: I thought it was just a prohibited like you, I
• 31:26
Speaker 3: think it is. But that's actually a good question to me.
• 31:29
  Speaker 3: I'm thinking, if I'm done, I got nothing, I got
• 31:33
Speaker 3: nothing in it, you know, then can I can I
• 31:37
Speaker 3: actually place the bet on?
• 31:39
  Speaker 4: KC?
• 31:40
Speaker 3: And you know I'm the bikers. We out, So let's
• 31:42
Speaker 3: look at it up ahead. You gotta take a break anyway.
• 31:45
Speaker 3: We'll think quick break and we'll be right back.
• 31:48
Speaker 7: Let's face it, bad things happen to good people seriously

• 32:48
  Speaker 2: the conversation.
• 32:50
Speaker 3: All right, well, we've had we're zero for two consuning.
• 32:54
Speaker 4: We've had two topics and we have yet to agree.
• 32:57
  Speaker 4: I don't think.
• 32:58
Speaker 3: I don't think we got to an agreement on the betting,
• 33:01
Speaker 3: but I mean I think we are in agreement, but
• 33:03
Speaker 3: I mean just different just to clean on, just to
• 33:05
Speaker 3: clear NFL players, and that's what we're talking about. Specifically,
• 33:08
Speaker 3: they are prohibited from betting on NFL games, whether they're
• 33:12
Speaker 3: playing or not. But your point is, your point is
• 33:15
Speaker 3: that saying that maybe they should be allowed if they're
• 33:18
Speaker 3: not participating in that game.
• 33:20
Speaker 4: I mean, you let gambling happen, you let it out,
• 33:24
Speaker 4: you let it happen.
• 33:25
Speaker 5: I think it would be hard to control.
• 33:26
  Speaker 6: I think I think that's too that it's smart just
• 33:30
Speaker 6: to say, you know, blank a statement, no.
• 33:32
Speaker 3: But why would you get in and I hate to
• 33:34
Speaker 3: use this term, get in bed with gambling.
• 33:38
Speaker 4: You're promoting gambling in for the NFL.
• 33:42
Speaker 6: To me, and then you want to tell me I
• 33:44
Speaker 6: maybe maybe they just put that statement out and kind
• 33:46
Speaker 6: of turn a blind eye to it.
• 33:48
Speaker 5: They probably guys have got suspended.
• 33:50
Speaker 6: Yeah, like what he's saying, like not on your own
• 33:53
Speaker 6: team or you're player, you're like after you're out of
• 33:56
  Speaker 6: a playoff.
• 33:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, the guys have done that. That's what guys have done.
• 33:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, sp it's just just for the you know, kind
• 34:02
Speaker 3: of cleaning they're it. Yeah, they're oppoting it and just
• 34:05
Speaker 3: to clean it up like NFL players, And that's what
• 34:07
  Speaker 3: we're talking about.
• 34:08
Speaker 4: Specifically, they are allowed to bet on other sports.
• 34:10
Speaker 5: So okay, yeah, oh well interesting.
• 34:16
Speaker 3: Where are you taking a student at least, I think
• 34:18
Speaker 3: you're ready to go somewhere.
• 34:19
Speaker 6: Well, I thought the game Monday night, if you guys
• 34:22
Speaker 6: caught it, I thought that was a great game Ohio
• 34:24
Speaker 6: State and the Fighting Irish, great great comeback, or actually
• 34:28
Speaker 6: the fighting Irish trying to make a great comeback ended
• 34:31
Speaker 6: up losing thirty four to twenty three to the buck Eyes. Interestingly,
• 34:35
Speaker 6: it was the buck Ey's first national title in a decade,
• 34:38
Speaker 6: so that was pretty cool. I think the question I
• 34:41
Speaker 6: wanted to explore more than just the championship game, And
• 34:44
Speaker 6: you guys can give me your opinions at what you
• 34:46
Speaker 6: think about it, But did you think that expanding the
• 34:49
Speaker 6: college football playoff from four to twelve was a good
• 34:52
  Speaker 6: move overall.
• 34:55
Speaker 3: To I think I saw who it is, saw okay,
• 35:01
Speaker 3: this is the champion, like we saw you go through
• 35:04
Speaker 3: the fire. And what I like about the play like
• 35:08
Speaker 3: the one thing let's go caught. But the one thing
• 35:10
Speaker 3: I don't like about it is that it sort of
• 35:13
Speaker 3: takes away from the regular season that was college football
• 35:16
Speaker 3: because back in the day, you had to be perfect.
• 35:19
Speaker 3: You had to maybe you only could afford one loss
• 35:21
Speaker 3: to a very good team. You had to beat the
• 35:23
Speaker 3: other teams. You had a dog the teams that you beat.
• 35:25
Speaker 3: So it kind of took a little luster out of
• 35:28
Speaker 3: the regular season, but it's moved that to the to
• 35:30
Speaker 3: the playoffs, and as they do it more.
• 35:32
Speaker 4: And more to get it right far as the seeding
• 35:34
Speaker 4: is concerned. So I thought it was good.
• 35:35
Speaker 3: I enjoyed the idea of you know, defining the best teams, yeah, right,
• 35:46
Speaker 3: matching them up and and and and unfortunately you don't
• 35:51
Speaker 3: get to have a bad day because you have a
• 35:55
Speaker 3: bad day and lose to a team that you everybody
• 35:57
Speaker 3: thought you were gonna you should beat, you go home, right,
• 36:01
Speaker 3: And so I like that whole I like everything about it,
• 36:05
Speaker 3: and I think, to me, I think it brings viewership
• 36:12
Speaker 3: if nothing else, but for those for that playoffs yet.
• 36:15
Speaker 6: Really, yeah, that was something that you know, we've talked
• 36:17
Speaker 6: about in the past on the show about the bowl
• 36:19
Speaker 6: season and how you know, some of these games are
• 36:21
Speaker 6: irrelevant and people don't watch them. And actually, with the
• 36:25
Speaker 6: way that they set the bowl games up in conjunction
• 36:28
Speaker 6: with the twelve game playoff system, the viewership of the
• 36:32
Speaker 6: Bowl season was fourteen percent.
• 36:35
Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's helped that.
• 36:36
Speaker 6: It's definitely helped that, but I'm like you, I think
• 36:39
Speaker 6: they're the only thing they really need to kind of
• 36:41
Speaker 6: clean up with it is probably maybe that first round
• 36:44
Speaker 6: by for the conference chance. Yeah, maybe they could do
• 36:47
Speaker 6: something about that, maybe eliminate that.
• 36:50
Speaker 3: Definitely saying that because the conference don't meet as much
• 36:53
Speaker 3: as what they used to, you know what I mean,
• 36:54
Speaker 3: And not to say I would get rid of the
• 36:57
  Speaker 3: conference championships, but I mean that's it. There's a lot
• 37:00
Speaker 3: of games and you're going to you know almost what
• 37:04
Speaker 3: Ohio they play with seventeen games this season.
• 37:06
Speaker 5: It is a lot. You know, You're probably right.
• 37:08
Speaker 3: So I think that can maybe lesson, maybe take off
• 37:11
Speaker 3: a regular season game. And they got to fix that
• 37:13
Speaker 3: because I don't think the conference championship. I think you
• 37:15
Speaker 3: if you win your conference, you should have automatic you know, bid,
• 37:19
Speaker 3: But I think that not the buy. And also what
• 37:23
Speaker 3: I would like to see, I mean, if it ever
• 37:24
Speaker 3: gets suspended, I want to see some of the smaller
• 37:27
Speaker 3: schools getting I want to see maybe a spot reserve
• 37:29
Speaker 3: for the non Power five. I like to see that
• 37:32
Speaker 3: because you never know, for like if a James Madison
• 37:34
Speaker 3: or Marshall or somebody got in.
• 37:35
Speaker 4: I would love to see I think I think to
• 37:37
Speaker 4: that very very valid point.
• 37:40
Speaker 3: I think there should be you either have to do
• 37:43
Speaker 3: that or create something else.
• 37:46
Speaker 4: Yeah you know what I'm saying.
• 37:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, you got to either make a spot for those
• 37:52
Speaker 3: smaller teams. And again they may not there's great chances
• 37:57
Speaker 3: they may not win that first game, but but they
• 38:00
Speaker 3: deserve to have an opportunity, you know, or give them
• 38:06
Speaker 3: the same exact thing setup, the same setup in their
• 38:10
Speaker 3: own I don't care, you know, league or how do
• 38:14
Speaker 3: you level? If you're D one, D two, you go there.
• 38:20
  Speaker 3: I don't you know what I'm saying, I don't care
• 38:21
Speaker 3: where how you build it, but you build an area
• 38:25
Speaker 3: for these smaller teams so that they can win a championship.
• 38:28
Speaker 3: Because I would take like I would do just like
• 38:31
Speaker 3: what basketball does at the college level and just have
• 38:34
Speaker 3: like you have your championship and you have like your
• 38:36
  Speaker 3: N I T. But what I mean how I would
• 38:39
Speaker 3: do it. I mean again, that would have non power
• 38:42
Speaker 3: five power five and if that power that non power
• 38:45
Speaker 3: five wins that you know, wins that set up, when's
• 38:49
Speaker 3: the set up wins the championship, then they can bounce
• 38:51
Speaker 3: up to power five. So I would kind of do
• 38:53
Speaker 3: it like that where you create the incentive not only monetarily,
• 38:56
Speaker 3: because I think what we're talking about as well is
• 38:58
Speaker 3: that if you set up a play off system with
• 39:00
Speaker 3: the non power foul, it gives those schools an opportunity
• 39:03
Speaker 3: to actually get some more revenue so hopefully they can
• 39:07
Speaker 3: keep some of their players with you know, the transfer portal,
• 39:10
Speaker 3: n IM everything like that.
• 39:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, because if you're a good player, you don't.
• 39:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, you gotta go because you want to go up,
• 39:16
Speaker 3: because you want you what you think is going to
• 39:19
  Speaker 3: be visible.
• 39:20
Speaker 4: You want to be visible.
• 39:21
Speaker 3: To get in the draft and all those kind of things.
• 39:25
Speaker 4: It ain't even in the draft no more.
• 39:26
Speaker 3: It's just getting being visible to go to WVU instead
• 39:29
Speaker 3: of a smaller score Alabama or go somewhere else. So
• 39:32
Speaker 3: it's like now, it's like it's all sorts of steps
• 39:35
Speaker 3: that's happening, right, and and and and to to justify that,
• 39:40
Speaker 3: there are plenty players that are playing on teams that
• 39:46
Speaker 3: no one would say, oh, there's no way they could
• 39:48
Speaker 3: ever play Alabama. But there could be a player on
• 39:51
Speaker 3: that team that can play for Alabama. Sure, we see
• 39:53
Speaker 3: it and seeing it and you see this all the time,
• 39:57
Speaker 3: and you know it's like, wow, how did this have happen.
• 40:00
Speaker 4: But if you give them that opportunity to shine.
• 40:05
Speaker 3: In a playoff games and all that kind of stuff,
• 40:08
Speaker 3: I think I think they that shows up, and I
• 40:10
Speaker 3: think that helps these players get recognition and and the school.
• 40:15
Speaker 3: And I think, and this is something I was looking
• 40:18
Speaker 3: at this weekend because I know we've talked about in
• 40:21
  Speaker 3: I L. Like I said, I don't think either one
• 40:23
Speaker 3: of us have a problem with with NIL you know
• 40:26
Speaker 3: the idea of it, but I think how it's being
• 40:28
Speaker 3: executed as flawed. But one of the things that's happening
• 40:31
Speaker 3: in college football to your point, when we talk about
• 40:34
Speaker 3: those players that maybe a smaller school, a smaller power
• 40:37
Speaker 3: five or smaller non power five, what's happening is that
• 40:41
Speaker 3: we're letting third party billionaire and millionaires and corporations come
• 40:46
Speaker 3: in and now they are essentially controlling college football right
• 40:52
Speaker 3: and building champ and building champions because now you can
• 40:54
Speaker 3: just suck players based monetarily from this school, that school,
• 40:59
Speaker 3: that school, and they because they have the resources to
• 41:01
Speaker 3: do it. So again, I mean, if anybody from the
• 41:04
Speaker 3: NC Double A is listening, you're failing and you're killing it.
• 41:08
Speaker 3: Because again, what we got to remember and I've said
• 41:10
Speaker 3: this before, is that players were not asking for this
• 41:14
Speaker 3: the billions and trillions of dollars. They were asking for
• 41:17
Speaker 3: a cut of what the schools and the NC Double
• 41:20
Speaker 3: A is getting, and the NC Double A is still
• 41:22
Speaker 3: not doing that and then ruining the game because what's
• 41:25
Speaker 3: going to end up happening is that. And you said
• 41:28
Speaker 3: it before you listen, You've broken it down where you're saying,
• 41:32
Speaker 3: the schools that are paying the most are getting the
• 41:34
Speaker 3: furthest in this and that's what's going to continue to happen.
• 41:37
Speaker 3: So again, to our point, it would be great to
• 41:40
Speaker 3: see a school, a non powerful five school come up
• 41:43
Speaker 3: and be able to like maybe win a couple of
• 41:44
Speaker 3: playoff games. It'll be like, that'd be awesome, But that's
• 41:47
Speaker 3: not the case, particularly with college football, because of how
• 41:51
Speaker 3: it's being set up with the NIM money.
• 41:53
Speaker 6: Well, the one thing that we did see this year,
• 41:55
Speaker 6: which was kind of refreshing, at least it was from
• 41:58
Speaker 6: my perspective, was to see the SEC kind of get
• 42:01
Speaker 6: you slighted in the choosing by the committee. I think
• 42:05
Speaker 6: the committee got it right. Obviously, there were some teams upset.
• 42:09
Speaker 6: Alabama obviously was not happy when they were left out
• 42:12
Speaker 6: of the twelfth team set up, so was South Carolina
• 42:16
Speaker 6: in Mississippi. But then if you look at what happened
• 42:20
Speaker 6: after that, after they were slighted and left out of
• 42:22
Speaker 6: the twelfth team playoff, they went to their perspective bowls
• 42:25
Speaker 6: and lost their bowl game as well.
• 42:27
Speaker 5: Now you could look at that two ways.
• 42:29
Speaker 6: You could look at Okay, they really didn't belong or
• 42:32
Speaker 6: were they just so morally down that they didn't make
• 42:35
Speaker 6: it pay or players didn't play right right right, So
• 42:38
Speaker 6: it could be either one, but still it kind of
• 42:40
Speaker 6: shows us a chink in the armor of.
• 42:43
Speaker 5: The sec so to speak. Well, and I think too
• 42:45
Speaker 5: they have all the money.
• 42:47
  Speaker 4: Yeah, and I.
• 42:47
Speaker 3: Think too that when you go let's just say you
• 42:51
Speaker 3: go to Alabama, you just automatically assume, or there was
• 42:55
Speaker 3: a time where you could automatically assume, we're gonna be
• 42:58
Speaker 3: in bowl games. We're gonna big, both big, We're gonna
• 43:01
Speaker 3: be at the top championships. You you you get, you're getting.
• 43:07
Speaker 3: We're getting to a point or we should get to
• 43:10
  Speaker 3: a point where everybody ain't sure. Yeah, that's what I
• 43:13
Speaker 3: would love, you know, everybody, But I don't think we're
• 43:16
Speaker 3: getting there. I think is the money gets more concentrated,
• 43:20
Speaker 3: and particularly if we're letting third parties come in. I
• 43:23
Speaker 3: think if we had a situation where the n C
• 43:25
Speaker 3: Double A was actually doing their job and they're controlling this,
• 43:29
Speaker 3: and they're setting a standard and the money is being
• 43:32
Speaker 3: a spread up just a touch more evenly, I think
• 43:34
Speaker 3: we would get to that place where it's more parody.
• 43:37
Speaker 4: Right, Can I try to say it? I'm gonna try
• 43:42
  Speaker 4: to say something.
• 43:42
Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm gonna get this right when
• 43:44
Speaker 3: as the way it comes out in my head, though
• 43:46
Speaker 3: it makes it's making sense to me. Okay, at some point,
• 43:52
Speaker 3: I think when you start talking about the financial piece,
• 43:59
Speaker 3: when is that going to become part of the school's responsibility. Okay,
• 44:04
Speaker 3: but I think it already is. But the fact of
• 44:06
Speaker 3: the matters. It's not necessarily because the money has to
• 44:09
Speaker 3: filter through the school, but it's the point of where
• 44:11
Speaker 3: the money's coming from, right, right, And and I think
• 44:14
Speaker 3: there has to be there has to be some kind
• 44:16
Speaker 3: of This league should be capped at X amount of
• 44:21
Speaker 3: income if you want to call it in for sure,
• 44:24
Speaker 3: and this team, this group can get this much, but
• 44:27
Speaker 3: at at this rate, you've got teams getting billions and
• 44:34
Speaker 3: then you got another team that's going getting a couple
• 44:36
Speaker 3: of drops, you can't. But you can't say that when
• 44:39
Speaker 3: the money is coming through the third parties, when the
• 44:42
Speaker 3: money's coming outside of the construct of the school. If
• 44:45
  Speaker 3: I'm a donor and I say I want to donate
• 44:47
Speaker 3: a million dollars to West Virginia State and our air
• 44:50
  Speaker 3: market for n I L and I want to pay,
• 44:52
Speaker 3: then you can't necessarily control that.
• 44:54
  Speaker 4: I understand.
• 44:55
Speaker 3: What has to happen is that the n CLA has
• 44:57
Speaker 3: to step up and it's some of the money. That's
• 45:00
Speaker 3: what they don't want to do, which is we don't
• 45:02
Speaker 3: They don't want to share their money.
• 45:04
Speaker 4: They will take all the outside money.
• 45:06
Speaker 3: But see, that's that's what I think is creating the
• 45:09
Speaker 3: problem is is that month teams with money win.
• 45:15
Speaker 5: And the championship game.
• 45:17
Speaker 4: Yes, I mean if.
• 45:19
Speaker 3: You don't even know how much money know to day
• 45:20
Speaker 3: man right, and I bet know their dame got.
• 45:25
Speaker 6: A They were probably the highest in college.
• 45:29
Speaker 4: But if you at the.
• 45:31
Speaker 3: Top, if you want the top, and maybe even the
• 45:33
Speaker 3: top by a lot, you would say it. I mean,
• 45:36
Speaker 3: you can put it out there. They were Yeah, I bet,
• 45:39
Speaker 3: and I bet. Moving forward, a school like Notre Dame
• 45:41
Speaker 3: is really going to be because of the history of
• 45:43
Speaker 3: Notre Dame. The people went there, people who went to
• 45:45
  Speaker 3: Notre Dame love.
• 45:47
Speaker 6: The conference affiliated. They're they're independent, they can do whatever
• 45:50
Speaker 6: they want. Basically, I mean, they should be in the
• 45:54
  Speaker 6: championship game.
• 45:55
Speaker 4: Is that so? Is that kind of again?
• 45:58
Speaker 3: The fact that you know they're independent, they're not tied
• 46:02
Speaker 3: down to a conference to where they play.
• 46:04
Speaker 4: Teams the same teams every year.
• 46:07
Speaker 3: And teams get to get to scout them, get an
• 46:11
Speaker 3: understanding of what they do and all that kind of stuff.
• 46:14
Speaker 3: Because you know how film is, Hollins, When you're scouting
• 46:16
Speaker 3: you get what two three games game?
• 46:21
Speaker 4: Now you can well, yeah, you can get them all.
• 46:23
Speaker 3: But still I'm going to make the case that you
• 46:28
Speaker 3: need there needs to be like a a a set
• 46:32
Speaker 3: amount of money at the top that you can make.
• 46:36
Speaker 3: And I think that happen.
• 46:38
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean period, but you can't and you can't
• 46:40
  Speaker 4: make money.
• 46:42
Speaker 6: I understand that there's got to be a way to you.
• 46:46
  Speaker 4: I can see.
• 46:47
  Speaker 3: That's what I'm asking that you better. I think that's
• 46:49
Speaker 3: what you Holland, I think that's what you have to have.
• 46:51
Speaker 3: You have to be able.
• 46:52
Speaker 5: To you have to be able to continu change the rules.
• 46:55
Speaker 3: Yes, you have to be able to control the money.
• 46:58
Speaker 3: Because again to ex team, who's got a bunch of
• 47:03
Speaker 3: billionaires throwing money into them? Now they're bringing all these
• 47:07
Speaker 3: players in from other teams. Now what you got you
• 47:11
Speaker 3: you got a dominating team that you know is gonna
• 47:14
  Speaker 3: win the championship.
• 47:15
Speaker 4: Who's watching that? Yeah? Nobody?
• 47:18
Speaker 6: And let me throw this out there, because I may
• 47:19
Speaker 6: I may be wrong, but is Notre Dame the who's
• 47:22
Speaker 6: the other independence in college football?
• 47:24
Speaker 5: Besides Notre Dame? Are they the only special?
• 47:26
Speaker 4: Uh? I like Army, Navy?
• 47:29
  Speaker 5: Different but different?
• 47:31
Speaker 3: I think Notre Dames like the big independent. I don't know,
• 47:33
Speaker 3: I don't know anybody at that level.
• 47:36
Speaker 5: Yeall like yeah, because.
• 47:38
Speaker 4: Everybody else is affiliated with to.
• 47:40
  Speaker 5: Come exactly exactly?
• 47:41
Speaker 3: So why you know why exactly?
• 47:44
Speaker 5: You go ahead, go ahead?
• 47:45
Speaker 4: No, I was gonna say, like why think Originally?
• 47:48
Speaker 3: I think originally they had they were like the first
• 47:51
Speaker 3: school or one of the first schools with like the
• 47:53
Speaker 3: TV deal. So they had like the NBC deal because
• 47:57
Speaker 3: you're growing up, remember you, we can watch everything TV
• 48:00
Speaker 3: every single week across the whole entire nation. They don't
• 48:03
Speaker 3: have blackouse, so they don't they're not regionalized. So I
• 48:06
Speaker 3: think originally, I think what because I want to say
• 48:09
Speaker 3: they had some conversations with the Big Ten at first
• 48:12
Speaker 3: and then ACC but because I know basketball and the
• 48:14
Speaker 3: other sports are acc but again, they didn't want to
• 48:17
Speaker 3: share that revenue. I think originally, like back in the day,
• 48:20
Speaker 3: they didn't want to share that revenue with the conference
• 48:22
Speaker 3: because they would have had to share the revenue. So
• 48:24
Speaker 3: I think that's it, and it gives them flexibility and
• 48:26
Speaker 3: they're like, like I said, they're national, you know, whether
• 48:28
Speaker 3: we like it or not, They're a national staple.
• 48:30
Speaker 5: They are. They are for sure.
• 48:32
Speaker 6: And at some point I don't even know if this
• 48:34
Speaker 6: is relevant anymore, but weren't they tied into conferences, bowls,
• 48:37
Speaker 6: game systems like they were guaranteed if they wanted to
• 48:40
  Speaker 6: go to.
• 48:41
Speaker 3: Like the Rose Bowl, like the Big it's like the
• 48:44
Speaker 3: you know, so they yeah, like the Big Ten, like
• 48:46
Speaker 3: I said, the Big Ten to Pac twelve. So they
• 48:48
Speaker 3: always had like those affiliations.
• 48:50
Speaker 6: It wasn't like direct, which to me, I didn't like
• 48:54
Speaker 6: that because I feel like they took conference spots for
• 48:57
Speaker 6: the people that were in the actual you know league to.
• 49:01
Speaker 4: The bowl games. Do you do you do you support
• 49:04
  Speaker 4: the Bowl games.
• 49:05
Speaker 3: Or one hundred percent, But I just think it's got
• 49:07
Speaker 3: to be like what Lisa said, it's got to be
• 49:09
Speaker 3: tied into a playoffships, you know what I'm saying, Like
• 49:12
Speaker 3: they're not appointing somebody for this boon. It's like this
• 49:15
Speaker 3: is the first round, you know, Taco.
• 49:17
Speaker 6: Bells for the non Power Files games, and make that playoffs.
• 49:24
Speaker 3: So you have two playoff system and the relevant so
• 49:27
Speaker 3: you got twelve teams at the Big Top and then
• 49:29
Speaker 3: you can have like twenty four teams. You know what
• 49:31
Speaker 3: I'm saying for the rest of everybody, And and you
• 49:33
Speaker 3: know what I mean, it's specifically maybe for the non
• 49:36
Speaker 3: power Files, but if you have some Powerfiles that want
• 49:38
Speaker 3: to participate, I don't know how you would specifically do it,
• 49:40
Speaker 3: but I just say tie to those remaining bowl games.
• 49:42
Speaker 3: Because again we watched the bowl games that were affiliated
• 49:46
Speaker 3: with the playoffs those other but I didn't watch a
• 49:48
Speaker 3: single ball. It was just because half the players didn't play.
• 49:51
Speaker 3: And it's just like I said, And even to that
• 49:52
Speaker 3: point when we talk about controlling the money, not only
• 49:56
Speaker 3: should it be controlled maybe far as a cap and
• 49:58
Speaker 3: different things of that nature, but it's also controlled to like, hey,
• 50:01
Speaker 3: if you sign this contract, you take this money, you're
• 50:04
  Speaker 3: playing the boat.
• 50:05
Speaker 4: You finish your season.
• 50:07
Speaker 5: Like I said, so coaches and.
• 50:09
Speaker 3: Player to your to that last point of players not,
• 50:15
Speaker 3: you know, not playing in the bowl game for safety reasons,
• 50:20
Speaker 3: well I don't think it's purely for that. What may
• 50:23
Speaker 3: not be, but a lot of times that's what that's
• 50:25
  Speaker 3: that's what it's.
• 50:26
Speaker 4: It's timing because if you're transferring, you got to go quick.
• 50:30
Speaker 3: Well let's just say the guys, let's go, let's talk
• 50:32
Speaker 3: about this, the top players, the senior guys who are
• 50:36
Speaker 3: not going to play in a bowl game. Now, you know, okay,
• 50:42
Speaker 3: I understand, I truly truly understand that you you want
• 50:45
Speaker 3: to be safe and you want to get that opportunity
• 50:47
Speaker 3: to to play at the next level. But who are
• 50:54
Speaker 3: you to then in turn put an entire school, a team,
• 51:02
Speaker 3: a school, it's fan base. You're gonna walk out on
• 51:07
Speaker 3: them for what But it's bigger than that now because
• 51:13
Speaker 3: they may see it bigger than that, Because I get it.
• 51:17
Speaker 3: You could be a first round pick and there's hundreds
• 51:19
  Speaker 3: of millions.
• 51:20
Speaker 4: Of dollars out there waiting for you.
• 51:21
Speaker 3: But it's it's hundreds of thousands probably already got now,
• 51:24
Speaker 3: so I don't have to go and do this, particularly
• 51:27
Speaker 3: if I know that other team's best ain't playing, then
• 51:29
Speaker 3: why am I gonna play?
• 51:31
Speaker 4: And my question is is why are you not playing? Why?
• 51:34
  Speaker 4: You like?
• 51:34
  Speaker 3: Because there's nothing walking to I can't walk as there's
• 51:38
Speaker 3: no reason to play because you don't have to play
• 51:40
Speaker 3: that game in order to increase your draft stock.
• 51:43
Speaker 4: They've already done that.
• 51:44
Speaker 3: You've already got ten twelve games that have already played,
• 51:46
Speaker 3: or maybe even more if I had a if I
• 51:48
Speaker 3: started multiple years, So you don't have to play that bowl.
• 51:51
Speaker 3: You don't have to play that game because again I don't.
• 51:53
Speaker 3: I don't even consider it have to. I'm not even
• 51:55
Speaker 3: looking at it as half to we are in a bowl,
• 51:59
  Speaker 3: We're we.
• 52:00
Speaker 4: Have this game, we have this game, we are going
• 52:04
Speaker 4: to travel and we are going.
• 52:06
Speaker 6: To play in that the coaches ain't got a coach,
• 52:09
Speaker 6: then you ain't gotta play.
• 52:11
Speaker 3: The bowl games have rendered meaningless, okay, the championships, you're right,
• 52:17
Speaker 3: And to the coaches being able to leave before a
• 52:20
Speaker 3: bowl game, that shouldn't that that makes zero sense to me.
• 52:24
Speaker 5: Couldn't the schools address that? Though? Hollis I mean, couldn't
• 52:26
Speaker 5: they make part of their contract and they're in.
• 52:30
Speaker 3: Here's the thing. If I have to take another job,
• 52:32
Speaker 3: I have to start recruiting. So I got to hit
• 52:35
Speaker 3: November final. Excuse me, in the November beginning of December
• 52:38
Speaker 3: finals are happening, guys are going to take their finals,
• 52:41
Speaker 3: and then probably by November tenth, recruiting starts to happen,
• 52:44
Speaker 3: and now guys are jumping into Portal. So it's like
• 52:46
Speaker 3: I said, what I think should happen is that the
• 52:49
Speaker 3: season needs to be moved up. So football need to
• 52:52
Speaker 3: start July, like July fourth. July fourth, that should be
• 52:57
Speaker 3: the first game of the college football since's never happened.
• 52:59
Speaker 3: And then the college Championship needs to be done by
• 53:02
Speaker 3: that first week of finals, so that like that December tenth,
• 53:06
Speaker 3: it needs like the championship needs to be played then
• 53:08
Speaker 3: and it's over. So that way, don't nobody got to leave.
• 53:11
Speaker 3: You can start to transfer Portal. Now everybody can finish
• 53:14
Speaker 3: their season. It's got to start earlier.
• 53:16
Speaker 6: I mean that that sounds like it's it's reasonable and sensible,
• 53:20
Speaker 6: but you think about the holidays and people enjoy they
• 53:23
Speaker 6: travel for bowl games over the Christmas break you know
• 53:26
Speaker 6: that there's there's money to be made with those fans
• 53:29
Speaker 6: going to the different games. It's logistic made easier for
• 53:33
Speaker 6: the for the fans to get there and the players.
• 53:36
Speaker 3: Travel Thanksgiving break. So now that all the bowl games
• 53:41
  Speaker 3: outside the.
• 53:42
Speaker 6: Trip November though, right, I mean you would start your
• 53:44
Speaker 6: bowl games the first November like the bowl games start
• 53:46
Speaker 6: the first dec championships.
• 53:48
Speaker 3: And then like the big like all the remaining bowl
• 53:50
Speaker 3: games will we play inside that week?
• 53:52
  Speaker 5: Traditional?
• 53:53
Speaker 4: So that week all the bowl games are being played.
• 53:56
Speaker 3: So I'm just saying, like, if we want to stop it,
• 53:58
Speaker 3: that's the only way you stop, because you can't. I'm
• 54:00
Speaker 3: signing because the coach. I'm not signing a contract where
• 54:03
Speaker 3: I have to coach through a bowl game because if
• 54:05
Speaker 3: I'm at you know, Liberty, or if I'm at East
• 54:08
Speaker 3: Carolina and I have a great season and I went
• 54:11
Speaker 3: because now again the big champ thing is the conference
• 54:14
Speaker 3: championship is the big thing now because remember it wasn't
• 54:16
Speaker 3: back in the day. Conference championships are big where bowl
• 54:19
Speaker 3: games would be back in the day. So if I
• 54:21
Speaker 3: win a conference championship, but East East Carolina and the
• 54:24
Speaker 3: Tennessee job coping or the UNC or the North.
• 54:26
  Speaker 4: Carolina State job.
• 54:27
Speaker 3: I'm yeah, and I gotta start recruiting December first.
• 54:33
Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it.
• 54:36
Speaker 5: I just hate it for the smaller school.
• 54:38
Speaker 3: I hate it for any of the school I hate
• 54:40
Speaker 3: it even for I hated even for some because I
• 54:44
Speaker 3: believe that some of these coaches did not They had
• 54:47
Speaker 3: to leave you, guy, couldn't.
• 54:48
Speaker 4: They couldn't pass up this coach tough.
• 54:50
Speaker 3: He had to go yes, and and and all the
• 54:54
Speaker 3: things that came with that horrible situation that rich Rod
• 54:57
Speaker 3: had to go see you.
• 55:00
Speaker 4: Why can't we fix that? Like you know, I got
• 55:03
Speaker 4: to fix it. Put me in coach.
• 55:05
  Speaker 5: Well for sure.
• 55:06
Speaker 6: If we don't fix it, we do not need to
• 55:08
Speaker 6: punish the schools for that was ridiculous. When Marshall got
• 55:12
Speaker 6: fined what was one hundred thousand dollars you were not participating.
• 55:15
Speaker 4: In the ball ridiculous.
• 55:17
  Speaker 2: I mean, we don't.
• 55:17
Speaker 6: They don't have the money as it is, and then
• 55:19
Speaker 6: you take one hundred that's a lot of money to Marshall.
• 55:21
Speaker 3: It's a lot of money. Make the coach pay it,
• 55:23
Speaker 3: you know, that's just nobody.
• 55:26
Speaker 4: You can't pay that. You can't.
• 55:27
Speaker 3: You can't. To your point, nobody should have to pay it.
• 55:30
Speaker 3: But to your point also, it shouldn't be possible.
• 55:36
Speaker 4: That's the system. But you can't change.
• 55:38
Speaker 3: But we think this just can't allow transfers at the
• 55:42
Speaker 3: time that you allowed them, and then like what he had,
• 55:45
Speaker 3: like twenty thirty players leave forty and then you want
• 55:48
Speaker 3: me to go out there and play a game?
• 55:50
Speaker 4: Right, what am I supposed to do? You know what
• 55:52
  Speaker 4: I mean?
• 55:54
Speaker 5: Of all things the team and yeah, but the thing is.
• 55:58
Speaker 3: My thing is is if you if you if you
• 56:01
Speaker 3: can't talk to a coach or cut a deal with
• 56:04
Speaker 3: a coach to come play, come coach at your school
• 56:08
Speaker 3: until X date, that.
• 56:10
Speaker 4: Needs to be passed all the bowl games.
• 56:14
Speaker 3: But it logistically, right now, the way it's set up,
• 56:17
Speaker 3: it does not work timing wise. You cannot. I don't okay,
• 56:21
  Speaker 3: I don't care.
• 56:22
  Speaker 4: I don't care. Here's the thing. I don't care if
• 56:24
  Speaker 4: it works timing.
• 56:25
Speaker 3: Because it's something that has no because if I'm a school,
• 56:28
Speaker 3: if I'm Southern miss I'm not gonna say, Okay, yeah,
• 56:31
Speaker 3: you can wait till Darner December is over and then
• 56:34
Speaker 3: come no, because I need you here top of December,
• 56:38
Speaker 3: first week of December to get in that transfer portal.
• 56:41
  Speaker 4: And start recruiting.
• 56:42
Speaker 5: You know, maybe maybe you gotta do it right.
• 56:45
Speaker 6: Maybe what what should happen is these smaller bowls that
• 56:47
Speaker 6: really don't mean a lot, maybe we shouldn't commit to them.
• 56:50
Speaker 6: I mean, Marshall just just doesn't commit. Although that was
• 56:53
Speaker 6: a pretty good bowl. And when you're start trying to get.
• 56:59
Speaker 3: Punished if you start talking about the fan base, fan
• 57:03
  Speaker 3: base is they're they're they're all.
• 57:05
Speaker 4: They're as happy as they can be. They're Cloud nine.
• 57:08
Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden, what.
• 57:10
Speaker 6: We'll just make the conference championship, make it mean more
• 57:13
Speaker 6: than than the bowl game. And really they do, like
• 57:15
Speaker 6: you said, they have, they've elevated those But.
• 57:18
Speaker 3: I think that situation with I think that situation with
• 57:21
Speaker 3: Marshall was they shouldn't have got they shouldn't have find
• 57:23
Speaker 3: I don't agree with that, but be.
• 57:25
Speaker 4: A senior, be a senior in that situation. It is
• 57:29
  Speaker 4: what it is.
• 57:30
  Speaker 3: You got a conference championship. I mean, that's just that's
• 57:33
Speaker 3: just terrible, you know. All right, Well, well before we go,
• 57:37
Speaker 3: I just want to talk about I know, I know
• 57:40
Speaker 3: a lot of people don't are watching baseball now, but
• 57:42
Speaker 3: baseball just had their Hall of Fame inductees. So they
• 57:45
Speaker 3: each you Roll King, Griffy Junior or Derek Jeter, they
• 57:47
Speaker 3: all went in. That's a huge class, huge class. None
• 57:50
Speaker 3: of them went in unanimous. So all of them have
• 57:53
Speaker 3: people who said they shouldn't get in. And it's just
• 57:55
Speaker 3: really and it just begs the question. This is just
• 57:58
Speaker 3: everything is wrong with baseball. Everything that's wrong with baseball,
• 58:03
Speaker 3: the people who cover baseball. This is just a micro
• 58:06
Speaker 3: cosm of that. How does Derek Jeter, or King Virginia
• 58:10
Speaker 3: or each year Row who was just phenomenal a leadoff man,
• 58:14
Speaker 3: he did everything great in the field, great, great at
• 58:17
Speaker 3: the plate, did all of the green Kinging virginr a legend,
• 58:20
Speaker 3: Derek Jeter the captain, how do they not get in
• 58:23
Speaker 3: just with with everybody unanimously. And then we still have
• 58:27
Speaker 3: guys like Barry Bonds who ain't getting in. It's just
• 58:29
Speaker 3: Mark McGuire, he ain't getting in. It's just ridiculous in baseball.
• 58:32
Speaker 3: This is why nobody watches baseball. Well, conversation I had today.
• 58:39
Speaker 3: All right, there's a buddy of mine, Henry Thomas, who
• 58:43
Speaker 3: has the most sacks period of.
• 58:47
  Speaker 4: A nose tackle.
• 58:48
Speaker 3: Okay, he was he got nominated for the Hall of Fame, Okay,
• 58:54
Speaker 3: n NFL Hall of Fame and he's not in the
• 59:00
Speaker 3: Vikings Ring of Honor. So so you know what I'm saying. Now,
• 59:08
Speaker 3: I've said out loud my last award that I would
• 59:13
Speaker 3: hope to make would be the Ring of Honor for
• 59:14
Speaker 3: the Vikings. Now people say people have said, you know, oh,
• 59:19
Speaker 3: he's one of the best corners ever. Well, the other
• 59:23
Speaker 3: guy who is this does make the case. He is
• 59:26
Speaker 3: the corner. He went in last year. Okay, I got
• 59:32
Speaker 3: I can't. There's nothing for me to argue about him
• 59:35
Speaker 3: going in. But when when you.
• 59:39
Speaker 4: Got a guy who is is suspecting to go into
• 59:43
Speaker 4: or is voting people are voting.
• 59:45
Speaker 3: On him to go into the NFL Hall of Fame
• 59:49
Speaker 3: and he ain't on your wall.
• 59:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, that makes no sense.
• 59:53
Speaker 4: How does that work?
• 59:55
Speaker 3: I just don't know that people who vote for these
• 59:57
Speaker 3: type of things, it just needs to be at the doctors,
• 59:59
Speaker 3: give us the computer. That's exactly what that That was
• 1:00:02
Speaker 3: The conversation that I had was like, who's voting?
• 1:00:04
  Speaker 4: Whose vote?
• 1:00:05
Speaker 3: And what's interesting about it is nobody talks about it, Nobody.
• 1:00:09
  Speaker 5: Says, nobody questions.
• 1:00:10
Speaker 3: Nobody questions that. Well, I think the question, but it's
• 1:00:13
Speaker 3: like that they talk about, who do you go to?
• 1:00:15
Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It's like you, you as the
• 1:00:17
Speaker 3: person who's on the on the line, whether you're going
• 1:00:19
Speaker 3: to get in or not, you don't want to talk
• 1:00:20
  Speaker 3: about it.
• 1:00:21
Speaker 4: That's kind of sort of in bad taste.
• 1:00:22
Speaker 3: But at the same time, we gotta start talking about
• 1:00:24
Speaker 3: it because the people who are voting this, whether it's
• 1:00:26
Speaker 3: baseball or stuff, like you know, the Ring of Art,
• 1:00:29
Speaker 3: what you're talking about, just like what are you doing?
• 1:00:31
Speaker 4: Like who is there a committee that what are you doing?
• 1:00:35
Speaker 3: We just had one corner go for for as long
• 1:00:38
Speaker 3: as they've had the Ring of Honor. The first corner
• 1:00:41
Speaker 3: went last year or two years ago. Maybe should you
• 1:00:45
Speaker 3: have been the first corner?
• 1:00:45
  Speaker 4: No, I don't. I don't think you know.
• 1:00:47
Speaker 3: Bobby Bryant was the was the guy, and he he
• 1:00:50
Speaker 3: was a great player. He was the first great corner
• 1:00:53
Speaker 3: that prior to your, prior, prior to my era that
• 1:00:56
  Speaker 3: they had.
• 1:00:57
Speaker 4: So I'm good, like I'm you know, I was good.
• 1:01:00
Speaker 3: With that perfectly, Like I didn't feel like I deserved
• 1:01:02
Speaker 3: to go before him.
• 1:01:05
Speaker 8: But when you start naming players that are your best,
• 1:01:08
Speaker 8: when you say they're the best player, when you start
• 1:01:12
Speaker 8: talking about or you start reading about them in potential
• 1:01:15
Speaker 8: Hall of Fame conversation getting voted that.
• 1:01:20
Speaker 4: Ship to prompt you, prompt you to say, Okay, we
• 1:01:22
Speaker 4: gotta get this guy.
• 1:01:23
Speaker 3: We gotta get this guy in, and and and I'll
• 1:01:29
Speaker 3: make the case that you know, I'm that dude who
• 1:01:31
Speaker 3: can who can destroy his own opportunity to get in,
• 1:01:35
Speaker 3: because I'm the guy who's always saying, like I have
• 1:01:38
Speaker 3: no problem saying if you're telling me and in my
• 1:01:40
Speaker 3: stats say, all I'm saying is I got to be
• 1:01:44
Speaker 3: up for at least at least I want to be
• 1:01:47
Speaker 3: say somebody, somebody's voting for me, you know. But I
• 1:01:51
Speaker 3: think all institutions need to have that commit And again
• 1:01:54
Speaker 3: I'll and I'll take this even academic right now.
• 1:01:56
Speaker 4: I think when we talk about Catherine Johnson, right.
• 1:01:59
Speaker 3: It took aim movie for State to fully celebrate her
• 1:02:03
Speaker 3: in her glory, right, it shouldn't take that. And I
• 1:02:07
Speaker 3: think that every institution, particularly when you talk about those
• 1:02:10
Speaker 3: major institution where it's NFL team or whatever, they need
• 1:02:13
Speaker 3: to have a committee of people who are looking at
• 1:02:15
Speaker 3: the history and figure out who needs to go where,
• 1:02:18
Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So that way and at
• 1:02:20
Speaker 3: the very least. It could be transparent and it could
• 1:02:24
Speaker 3: be a full process.
• 1:02:25
  Speaker 4: Well what happens.
• 1:02:26
Speaker 3: What happens too is all of a sudden when you
• 1:02:28
Speaker 3: get new coaches in, you get new organ you know
• 1:02:31
Speaker 3: this this position, in that position, you get new people
• 1:02:36
Speaker 3: forget who don't know the history. They're looking only so
• 1:02:39
Speaker 3: far back. But it needs to be like a committee.
• 1:02:42
  Speaker 3: That's like, even if it's just a board, I think
• 1:02:46
Speaker 3: you go and you remove everybody, and you make and
• 1:02:50
Speaker 3: you get you put one person in charge of it,
• 1:02:52
Speaker 3: and you get all players from who have made the ring.
• 1:02:58
Speaker 4: Nah, because they're not looking at the history.
• 1:03:00
Speaker 3: And I think that's the problem with like the Heisman,
• 1:03:01
Speaker 3: and that's the problem with like even like the Baseball
• 1:03:03
Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. You know what I'm saying, You have
• 1:03:05
Speaker 3: to get a committee who dedicated to looking at the
• 1:03:08
Speaker 3: totality of that organization, and not only just because because
• 1:03:12
Speaker 3: it's easy just to look at stats, but because we
• 1:03:14
Speaker 3: can look at the stats. But what did you mean
• 1:03:16
Speaker 3: to the organization? Well, and well here's the other thing
• 1:03:18
Speaker 3: about stats. Right, you use the stats to qualify that
• 1:03:23
Speaker 3: player as being a fact, as a great player.
• 1:03:26
Speaker 4: Right, you use him for that.
• 1:03:28
Speaker 3: And we just got to notice that we've got to go.
• 1:03:34
Speaker 4: But I'm just making a case.
• 1:03:36
Speaker 3: That you know, I just think that you know, the
• 1:03:39
Speaker 3: whole that type of thing, rings of honor, I think
• 1:03:42
Speaker 3: I think all of that is done wrong, and it's
• 1:03:45
  Speaker 3: behind doors.
• 1:03:45
Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen. We were over our time, so we
