- 1:06So go check me out. Give me a follow.
- 1:09No, follow you back. So guys, why 30 people with an
- 1:13Autism Spectrum condition, usually have a comorbid
- 1:16condition called sensory processing disorder or SPD now
- 1:20SVD isn't a diagnosis that you can get independently of an
- 1:24Autism Spectrum condition. You actually have it, come over
- 1:27glue diagnosed when you're diagnosed with autism, it is
- 1:30apparent that some people, I guess with just have sensory
- 1:33processing disorder and they may not have a diagnosis of autism,
- 1:36but I believe that the two are married together when you have
- 1:39SPD, it's pretty obvious that you're on the In spectrum,
- 1:42because it's a part of that trade of impairment of how the
- 1:45brain communicates to parts of the world and the universe that
- 1:48we see around them. So how does it work?
- 1:51And how does it impact the lives of people.
- 1:53So, lighting is a sensory input that hits your system, your
- 1:58services, like your eyes, and then that goes into your brain
- 2:00and the code that and you can then judge the level of lighting
- 2:04that you are receiving for me though.
- 2:06It's not as normal as a neurotypical person would
- 2:09experience life because Of the way, the brain works on it.
- 2:13Men's when you're developing, and it causes the autism kind of
- 2:16neurological conditioning. It meant a little bit
- 2:19differently and that obviously causes all kinds of disruptions
- 2:22in the way in neurotypical person would see the world.
- 2:26So obviously trying to fit into, that would be quite difficult,
- 2:28which in fact, it is. So for instance, the the tube
- 2:32lighting that you see in like strip lighting in stores, and in
- 2:35kitchens and things like that. They're big long tube license
- 2:38and they actually Flicker at a crazy flickering rate now.
- 2:41On the autism, spectrum are highly sensitive to this and you
- 2:44can see the flicker. So, what you often might see is
- 2:48young people, especially on the Spectrum doing this with our
- 2:51eyes when they're in front of light and this is a stim.
- 2:54But the stimming because they are a cat, like, out of phasing
- 2:58or counter. Phasing the flickering from the
- 3:00light that they're seeing above them.
- 3:01So, this is what this is. Now, this is fascinating, it
- 3:04actually really does work. So, if you're somewhere in the
- 3:07lights, are these Spike strip lights on there, they're
- 3:09impacting you, and you're feeling kind of like It's too
- 3:12much then just try do this in front of the light, and it will
- 3:14actually cross phase it. And it won't be flickering as
- 3:17much. That being said, I actually take
- 3:20sunglasses wherever I go because like, sunglasses are going to be
- 3:23like your Saving Grace. At the end of the day.
- 3:25Everybody else feels put sunglasses on and you're going
- 3:27to be able to reduce the amount of light coming in hitting your
- 3:30eyes. Now, why does this happen?
- 3:32I don't know. It's definitely how the brain is
- 3:35wired for communication. And obviously, this is exactly
- 3:37how autism impacts people's lives, but one of the biggest
- 3:40issues I have is I like to have really good lighting with strong
- 3:44lighting but lighting that I can actually deal with.
- 3:48So my girlfriend likes to turn the lights off and watch TV, and
- 3:51kind of dim lighting, which absolutely just drives me nuts
- 3:54because I need some good lighting.
- 3:55So like the living, we have like two lights and her light stays
- 3:59off. And in my light stays on when
- 4:00watching television, it's really funny.
- 4:02And I just have to have good light because I feel like if I
- 4:06have good light, then I can see clearly and is no interference.
- 4:08And flicking, when lights are dim, it makes things Hazy, and
- 4:12that's not a good thing. Another one is when I'm so I'm a
- 4:15YouTuber as you guys know, and I'm in the studio right now, and
- 4:19I actually used to have these huge big look, kind of, like,
- 4:22like, filming lights. That were just huge like soft
- 4:26boxes as they used to call them. And they'll quite harsh because
- 4:28they bleed light everywhere. And we're quite irritating to
- 4:32me, and I didn't like it. It was always just quite
- 4:34annoying. So a company called new, where
- 4:37it reached out to me and said, hey Dan, would you like to have
- 4:39some new lights and if they're any good, can you?
- 4:41Go to shower and I was like, well yeah, of course.
- 4:43So big shout out to new where, for actually giving me the
- 4:46lighter I'm using in this video. I'll show you guys exactly what
- 4:49they're like. So let's see.
- 4:50This is like a Panel LED light with, like these barn doors,
- 4:55they call them, which is like, very interchangeable, kind of
- 4:58doors and then there's a ring light from the same company.
- 5:00He has given me my like fill light.
- 5:02And then the back here, I've got a back light with the same
- 5:04thing. Now these led panels and really
- 5:06really thin as you can see, they're really, really thin.
- 5:09And it came on these awesome stands and they're very very It.
- 5:13Now, the thing I like about these lights is that you can
- 5:16actually turn them down and change the color.
- 5:18They can be the side, brilliant, LED white, or tungsten yellow.
- 5:22And the light actually can be filtered down to that.
- 5:25It's like, it's either a strong, strong bright light, or a very,
- 5:28very small kind of like week lights up to give you whatever
- 5:32you want. But to me, it's perfect cause I
- 5:33can film and bring the light and it doesn't trigger me.
- 5:35I mean, imagine is I'm doing videos on autism about things,
- 5:39interacting with me and like interrupting my Field of vision
- 5:42and my light would just not the best light.
- 5:44So since I've had these new ones, it's been a lifesaver.
- 5:46It's absolutely just revolutionized, how I see
- 5:50creating videos and making a way more engaging because I'm not
- 5:54like thinking about like, oh, you know, I'm distracted by the
- 5:57light, I'm actually like, boom, I can control this, like, it's
- 5:59great. That was groundbreaking.
- 6:01So new are thank you so much and if you guys actually want
- 6:04because it's annoying when people put mentioned stuffing
- 6:05videos, and I don't think it. You guys actually want these
- 6:07lights. I will leave them in a triple.
- 6:09Also guys, this video isn't sponsored.
- 6:11I just wanted Check them and give them a shout out because I
- 6:13believe they were nice enough to give me these lights to use and
- 6:16yeah they were really good. So if any of you guys making
- 6:17videos or taking pictures and what good light, I will leave
- 6:20these new where lights in the description below because
- 6:22they're awesome. So that was like my my hacks
- 6:25really for dealing with light issues are wearing headphones.
- 6:29You can stem as a lash of lots, Tim out of phase and also just
- 6:33avoid pool lighting because it's just something that is going to
- 6:37be a parent. You're not always going to have
- 6:38good lighting wherever you go which is very annoying.
- 6:41But it's Something that happens. The winter is kind of the worst,
- 6:44especially you're driving because the sun is kind of low
- 6:46in the sky and that lohnes can be very difficult to deal with
- 6:50because it's kind of like, it's a bit full-on and harsh.
- 6:53And so, I found that the sun is very, very distracting and very
- 6:56disturbing in the winter. But that being said, a good pair
- 6:59of sunglasses. I actually use Ray-Bans because
- 7:02I was lucky enough to have somebody.
- 7:02Give me some rebounds. And then I bought some, when I
- 7:05saved up some money for the quite expensive, but you get
- 7:07what you pay for you, pay for good, quality sunglasses are
- 7:09going to fill it out filter out, a lot of light.
- 7:11Good thing. So definitely get yourself.
- 7:13A good person, glasses, try and avoid places that have those
- 7:16tube lighting or if you have a house, a house tube lighting
- 7:19replace it with just LED lights or replace it with like a bulb.
- 7:23You can control the actual brightness of like Philips Hue,
- 7:26do some great bulbs. I mean, my office, my entire
- 7:28house is actually runs on the Amazon Alexa bulbs and stuff
- 7:32like that. So yeah, I think it's something
- 7:34that we can overcome and cope with, but it's also something
- 7:38that we have to deal with it. Sensory processing disorder,
- 7:41Under the probably one of the most impacting part of being on
- 7:45the autism spectrum, along with all the other stuff and just
- 7:47saying it's quite impacting. And because I like, I'm also
- 7:51affected by smells and things like that.
- 7:53So not only can certain light make me feel really
- 7:56uncomfortable. Like if we're I told you, we're
- 7:58in the living room, my girlfriend.
- 7:59Like dampen to light that actually makes me feel quite
- 8:02upset, you know, I don't the another way to explain it.
- 8:05Really feel quite upset. And then, if you think about it,
- 8:08when you're around a bowl, and we're in dim lighting or poor
- 8:11lighting it, Sweet agitated to. I can't focus on what else we're
- 8:13doing because the light is like, it's actually hitting you on the
- 8:16head. Constantly, when you're trying
- 8:17to do something, you can't focus because you've got this thing
- 8:18just irritating. You but at the same thing with
- 8:20certain words, and since smells and like, you know, certain
- 8:24sounds or even certain textures of clothing.
- 8:26That's why most of golden are words and have tags on it, you
- 8:29know, it's that stuff. It's just fascinating to me, and
- 8:33it's so irritating. I mean, if you guys understand
- 8:35what I'm talking about, please leave me a comment down below
- 8:36and back down. I do, you mean the whole
- 8:38irritation thing with like, it's like something hit you in the
- 8:40head. Let me know if you can relate.
- 8:41Late to this, because I'd love to just share that and read your
- 8:44stories and read your comments as be.
- 8:45They'll be awesome and actually, read and respond to every single
- 8:47one. So, please do that.
- 8:49And if you like this video, like to see more like it, please give
- 8:51this video a thumbs up because if you give it a thumbs up that
- 8:54sharing some love and love is a good thing and also makes me no,
- 8:57oh yeah. These guys want to see more
- 8:58videos on like my personal things like light and stuff like
- 9:01that because it's always a big issue.
- 9:03Like, lighting is a big issue for me, you know, one of the
- 9:05things I like my Staples wherever I go as sunglasses,
- 9:08it's so bizarre. I have like somebody's four
- 9:10pairs of sunglasses, but I have to make Those are two rebounds
- 9:12one driving pair and one just like casual wear and then this
- 9:15is like my casual wear one child, get up, you know.
- 9:17So now these are the so these are the driver ones which are
- 9:20like aviators so you can see like this.
- 9:22They have a nice and kind of Ridge on them and then the other
- 9:25ones are these like it's kind of like a I don't want to call
- 9:30them. I think that the Wayfarer I
- 9:32think that's what they're called but they're kind of just like
- 9:34these sunglasses that you put on and then just so good.
- 9:38Like they just they just full of so much light and they kind of
- 9:40with another just Casual and you can wear these pretty much
- 9:43anywhere. And I like that because that's
- 9:45what you want, you know me, you don't want something that's
- 9:46going to, you know, be rubbish. You want to get a good pair of
- 9:48sunglasses. But that means said, like I
- 9:50said, they're like Essentials pack.
- 9:53So we go anywhere. Well like, go resend glasses, my
- 9:56God. Yeah, dude.
- 9:57So it's like it when I'm packing my bags to go anywhere soon
- 10:00event or a pack my bag to go like to see family or con
- 10:03anyway, when a downtown shopping, whatever, always
- 10:05packing sunglasses. Awesome.
- 10:07And I love it. So guys, that being said, I'm
- 10:11gonna Leave it here. I will see you in the next
