Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / TMG: The ‘Out of Touch’ Postpartum Glow Up Video
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to the mums group you actually want
- 0:05Speaker 1: to be a part of. I'm Amy Torver.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I'm Sophie Torver. And I'm Kate Torver. And on today's show,
- 0:11Speaker 2: former Love Islander Paige Thorne is branded out of touch
- 0:14Speaker 2: after sharing.
- 0:15Speaker 1: A postpartum vlog video. Bachelor star Irina sparks a debate.
- 0:19Speaker 2: About toddler discipline and Elodie Paulin's four-year-old daughter spoils her
- 0:24Speaker 2: engagement surprise. But first, Sophie, you're looking rather tired today.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I hate to point it out.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I had a bit of a rough one last night.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I was on solo bedtime duties, which... I'm not used
- 0:33Speaker 2: to because my husband usually gets Luca to bed, but
- 0:35Speaker 2: he was having to work late.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And it took me two hours to get Luca to sleep.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Isn't that always the way when you're on a double
- 0:44Speaker 2: shift like that? You know, you've had them all day
- 0:46Speaker 2: and then you've got to do bedtime and then they
- 0:47Speaker 2: just don't want to go to sleep.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And you're at the end of your tether.
- 0:49Speaker 2: The thing that's annoying is I really do need to
- 0:52Speaker 2: do the whole cuddle to cot, get him to sleep
- 0:54Speaker 2: on his own. But I have really been enjoying having
- 0:57Speaker 2: him fall.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Asleep on me and then I'll put him in.
- 0:59Speaker 2: And usually within 10 minutes out, out like a light,
- 1:02Speaker 2: put him in, all good to go. But for some
- 1:04Speaker 2: reason now, nighttime routine has turned into a nightmare and
- 1:07Speaker 2: he's taking a long time. He'll be asleep on you.
- 1:10Speaker 2: The second you lower him down, he literally starts crying.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And I think it's some separation anxiety thing, but I
- 1:16Speaker 2: was just at my wits end last night and I'm
- 1:17Speaker 2: there messaging you guys, firing off texts to my husband.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I need to read some of the text messages that
- 1:23Speaker 2: I was copying at, I think it was 10 to
- 1:25Speaker 2: nines because they were quite stress inducing to receive. So
- 1:27Speaker 2: I can't imagine being on the other end of it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: One said, what a fun night. Only just got Luca
- 1:32Speaker 2: to bed. Now I can't find the remote control. And
- 1:35Speaker 2: then I'm like, you poor thing.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And then you're like, yes, I was in there for
- 1:38Speaker 1: one hour and 52 minutes.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I feel like crying. He literally lost his shit every time.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Tried to let him sort it out himself, but he
- 1:44Speaker 2: cried and cried and lost his dummy.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Sorry to complain. It's just been hellish and I have
- 1:47Speaker 1: a splitting headache.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It's at those moments, like. I was lying in there.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And usually it is nice to have a cuddle. But
- 1:53Speaker 2: by the two hour mark, I was literally going out
- 1:55Speaker 2: of my mind. And you realize that they pick up
- 1:58Speaker 2: on your stress. And all I could think was he's
- 2:00Speaker 2: hearing my heart bursting out of my chest. And the
- 2:02Speaker 2: only thing that went through my mind was, I don't
- 2:04Speaker 2: think I can have another one. I can't do this again.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Like whenever anything is a huge inconvenience like that, well,
- 2:09Speaker 2: I don't want to say inconvenience, but anything is like
- 2:10Speaker 2: very stressful like that.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'm like, I can't imagine doing this again. And that's
- 2:13Speaker 1: when Sophie booked Brandon in for the snoop.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So I've been so positive lately, but it was just like,
- 2:18Speaker 2: it's those moments where you're like, I can't actually imagine
- 2:21Speaker 2: having a toddler and then also having a newborn that
- 2:24Speaker 2: you've got to get to bed to.
- 2:25Speaker 1: What about the single parents who do that every night?
- 2:28Speaker 1: That's what I always think. I think, oh my goodness,
- 2:31Speaker 1: they like single parents are actually superheroes. Oh, they're heroes.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's helpful though to hear about other.
- 2:36Speaker 2: People having tough nights because sometimes you think that it's
- 2:38Speaker 2: just you and everyone else's child is sleeping perfectly. I
- 2:40Speaker 2: saw this TikTok and this woman was talking about just
- 2:43Speaker 2: how mentally draining it is those last couple of hours
- 2:47Speaker 2: before your child goes to bed. It's like right after
- 2:49Speaker 2: their nap, if you've got a toddler. And she said,
- 2:52Speaker 2: if you don't have help, it is just next level
- 2:55Speaker 2: anxiety inducing. Like it feels like you're running a marathon
- 2:58Speaker 2: all day and then near the end, it's like the hardest.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Couple of hours. It's the least favorite part of the day.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And I think what made it more difficult is I'm
- 3:06Speaker 2: used to my husband getting home and then he takes over.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So in my head the whole time, I was like, I.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Usually would be sitting down now having a Coke Zero,
- 3:14Speaker 2: enjoying my vlogs, but I'm in here. And I think
- 3:17Speaker 2: the worst bit is when you're by yourself, you're like,
- 3:19Speaker 2: there's no one to take over if I have a
- 3:20Speaker 2: mental breakdown.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 2: This happened to me on Monday night because Dale also,
- 3:24Speaker 2: I think he got home at like 10 o'clock.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It was a very, anyway, there was a bit going
- 3:27Speaker 1: on at his work.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And it was so funny because he was meant to
- 3:30Speaker 2: be bringing home Pastor Go-Go. And because he had to
- 3:34Speaker 2: stay even later, I had to organize my own food.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And I did have something I could have made, but
- 3:38Speaker 1: I was like, fuck this. I am ringing dominoes. I
- 3:40Speaker 1: had the Domino's delivery dropped off. It was like the
- 3:43Speaker 1: timing was elite. Just as Harry went down to bed,
- 3:46Speaker 1: the Domino's arrived, except the guy rung the fucking doorbell.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And I had just, I was like, no.
- 3:52Speaker 2: At least he didn't take a leak out the front,
- 3:53Speaker 2: like the last delivery driver you discussed last week.
- 3:56Speaker 1: No, no, that was a positive. It's funny though. I
- 3:58Speaker 1: was like, I'm not opening the door to this man.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I just spoke to him from the ring doorbell. I'm like,
- 4:02Speaker 1: could you please leave that in front of the door?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Do you know what the worst thing is?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Brandon was waiting on my order because we were having
- 4:08Speaker 2: sushi and I hadn't messaged him what I wanted.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So I'm having this internal.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Breakdown in this dark room whilst Luke is lying on
- 4:14Speaker 2: me just, and he's sitting at the sushi place in
- 4:17Speaker 2: the car park waiting.
- 4:18Speaker 1: For my water.
- 4:20Speaker 2: This might sound really weird, but has anyone ever had
- 4:22Speaker 2: the thought when they're sitting in that dark room?
- 4:24Speaker 1: I wish I could send messages in my mind because
- 4:28Speaker 1: often like say I'll be putting Harry down and maybe
- 4:30Speaker 1: Dale's making noise out the back or something. And I'll
- 4:32Speaker 1: be like, Oh, I wish I could just message him
- 4:34Speaker 1: to be like, That noise.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I have all of my deep thoughts in there because
- 4:38Speaker 2: I realise it's the only time that you don't really
- 4:40Speaker 2: have your phone on you and you actually just left
- 4:43Speaker 2: your own devices. Do you know what was one of
- 4:45Speaker 2: my weird deep thoughts before? Because I had to put
- 4:47Speaker 2: Harry down.
- 4:47Speaker 1: For his nap.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I was like, our next door neighbour's kids, that kid's
- 4:52Speaker 2: like 13.
- 4:54Speaker 1: When Harry's my age... kid's going to be around 50.
- 4:57Speaker 1: How weird. Wow. That is, that is a deep thought.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I'm constantly running the sums in my head. For some reason,
- 5:04Speaker 2: I do countdowns to things. I'm like, all right, is
- 5:06Speaker 2: this many days until Hilary Duff or, or in this
- 5:09Speaker 2: many months time, my son's going to be this close
- 5:12Speaker 2: to his second birthday.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Like it's just weird.
- 5:14Speaker 2: This is why my health anxiety has been so bad
- 5:16Speaker 2: ever since I had my son, because I just have
- 5:18Speaker 2: so much time to think about things.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Do you know what though?
- 5:20Speaker 2: There's nothing more lonely than lying. Even though you've got
- 5:23Speaker 2: a child on you, lying in a dark room with silence.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Like, I think that just drives you insane. I actually,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I actually quite like it.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Cause like, you know how you have really deep thoughts,
- 5:33Speaker 2: like when you didn't have a child, when you'd have
- 5:35Speaker 2: like a really long shower and you'd think of.
- 5:38Speaker 1: All these things. Sometimes I go in there when I
- 5:40Speaker 1: put Harry to bed and I'm like, okay, I can
- 5:42Speaker 1: just switch off. Well, not switch off.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I can actually just become immersed in my own thoughts.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I can think of all these ideas.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I think there is something nice
- 5:50Speaker 1: about it.
- 5:50Speaker 2: But when you reach in the two hour mark and
- 5:52Speaker 2: you've been left here for that long.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Kate's looking at me like I'm crazy. Kate's like, what
- 5:56Speaker 1: are you plotting in there? Kate's done the cuddle to
- 5:58Speaker 1: cot for so long.
- 5:58Speaker 2: She doesn't remember the spints of them lying on you.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I love how you keep using the term cuddle to
- 6:03Speaker 1: cot as if it's just so known. Like it's a Dr.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Golley sleep technique.
- 6:06Speaker 2: And the whole thing is you give them a cuddle,
- 6:08Speaker 2: You put him in the cot, you sit in the
- 6:09Speaker 2: room and you let them go to sleep and then
- 6:12Speaker 2: you walk.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Out and if they cry, you come back in, settle them.
- 6:14Speaker 1: We have been trying to do that. Keep trying.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And we try and put him down when he's a
- 6:18Speaker 2: little bit drowsy, but he instantly stands up and starts screaming.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Can I just point out that all kids are different
- 6:22Speaker 2: and that anyone listening to this who has TikTok will
- 6:25Speaker 2: have heard of the term cuddle to cot because it's
- 6:27Speaker 2: all these smug parents are like, I just put them
- 6:29Speaker 2: down in the cot and they just settle themselves.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'm sorry, when your child is teething badly and Or
- 6:35Speaker 1: going through separation anxiety. Yeah, isn't going to work. That's
- 6:38Speaker 1: how you got to start it earlier. Yeah, but a
- 6:39Speaker 1: lot of techniques.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Also, we'll jump back in the time machine. Go back
- 6:42Speaker 2: in time and.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Do it earlier.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And also, a lot of different techniques work for different children.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You are going to be, I was going to say blessed,
- 6:49Speaker 1: but next child, if you choose to have another one,
- 6:52Speaker 1: You are going to be given the reflux baby. Don't
- 6:56Speaker 1: put that on me.
- 6:57Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Unfortunately. You'll be humbled big time. I want to say though,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I have put a lot of effort into his sleep.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I don't want this to come in biting me in
- 7:02Speaker 1: the ass.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:03Speaker 1: We'll play this clip in the future if you choose
- 7:05Speaker 1: to have another child. Just like how Amy and I
- 7:07Speaker 1: have been haunted.
- 7:08Speaker 2: By the segment on Outspoken when we said that people
- 7:11Speaker 2: who don't have children are just as tired as people
- 7:13Speaker 2: with children. To be fair, I was trying to play
- 7:16Speaker 2: devil's advocate there and be like, you know, and not
- 7:18Speaker 2: diminish how other women might feel because you also can
- 7:22Speaker 2: be tired, but it's, you also have the opportunity to.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Just go away and sleep. To rest, which you don't realise.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Then everyone's going to be like, oh, I have chronic insomnia.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It's like, okay, we're not talking specifically.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I think that's a very good theory where everyone thinks
- 7:32Speaker 2: that they're talking about them.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think the thing that haunts you more is when
- 7:35Speaker 1: you had a go at me for saying just you
- 7:36Speaker 1: wait and now you guys use that term all the time.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I never say it.
- 7:40Speaker 2: You did. I have literally joined team just you wait
- 7:43Speaker 2: and I– I get on my fucking high horse.
- 7:45Speaker 1: We actually have a new term.
- 7:46Speaker 2: We always say, oh, that person's going to be slapped
- 7:48Speaker 2: to the cock over.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Having a child. Are you guys trying to make that
- 7:52Speaker 1: happen after kick to the dick? Like you guys are
- 7:54Speaker 1: thinking about.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I mean, that's not really appropriate for children's... Parenting podcast.
- 7:58Speaker 1: What if it's slapped to the cock?
- 8:00Speaker 2: Oh, they're going to be slapped to the cock hard
- 8:02Speaker 2: once the reality settles in. You're saying it out of context.
- 8:05Speaker 2: You're saying that that person's going to get slapped on
- 8:07Speaker 2: the cock when they.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Have a kid.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Should we bring out hats? Slapped to the cock, kicked
- 8:12Speaker 1: to the dick. You guys sound like ferals talking about this.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Slapped to the cock.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Well, I'm sorry, but it's in a joking way because
- 8:19Speaker 2: I was slapped to the absolute cock having a child.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Let's just put it out there. Everyone is humbled.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Well, after that grotesque visual image, I want to swiftly
- 8:26Speaker 2: move on. So I had this awful incident occur yesterday
- 8:30Speaker 2: with Harry.
- 8:31Speaker 1: He is fine.
- 8:32Speaker 2: But basically I'd run out the front to go and
- 8:35Speaker 2: grab his pram and he was happy just toddling around.
- 8:38Speaker 1: He was actually sweeping with this little broom. Anyway, I
- 8:41Speaker 1: was literally gone for 30 seconds and I hear this
- 8:43Speaker 1: ear piercing scream. So I ran down the hallway and
- 8:47Speaker 1: I was like, where is he?
- 8:48Speaker 2: Where is he? And he was sort of like cowering
- 8:50Speaker 2: behind the door and he'd had his broom propped up.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I was like, what is he doing here? And so
- 8:55Speaker 1: I had to move the door to see what he
- 8:57Speaker 1: was doing. His fingers were in the crack of the door.
- 9:00Speaker 1: He got them wedged in. I literally jammed his fingers.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It was the worst. Wait, so you jammed them?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Well, they were already jammed, but then I closed the
- 9:07Speaker 2: door on them so it was further jamming them.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And I was like, ah!
- 9:11Speaker 2: He was like screaming and then I had to pull
- 9:13Speaker 2: his fingers once the door was like open again out.
- 9:17Speaker 1: It was horrific. I was thinking, oh, my God, all
- 9:20Speaker 1: of his fingers are going to be broken again. He
- 9:22Speaker 1: was fine.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I gave him a yogurt and he was good to go.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I had a similar thing happen to me. I think
- 9:27Speaker 2: Jack was around the same age when he got his
- 9:29Speaker 2: fingers jammed in the window and he was beside himself
- 9:33Speaker 2: like for 20 minutes after. Remember you came over, Sophie,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and you had to try and cheer him up.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It's the worst feeling.
- 9:39Speaker 2: It's also a similar feeling when you trim your baby's
- 9:42Speaker 2: nails and you somehow.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Cut their finger accidentally. I actually said that to Dale.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I said, the feeling I feel right now is the
- 9:48Speaker 1: same feeling as to when I cut Harry, when I
- 9:50Speaker 1: cut his fingernails all those months ago. I've had my baby.
- 9:55Speaker 4: And for everyone that's like, you don't have a go
- 9:57Speaker 4: to shower or like whatever, watch this glow up.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Ready?
- 10:01Speaker 1: One, two, three.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Welsh influencer Paige Thorne has been branded smug and out
- 10:07Speaker 2: of touch after sharing a postpartum glow up video two
- 10:11Speaker 2: weeks after giving birth to her son. The former Love
- 10:14Speaker 2: Islander set out to show new mums they can still
- 10:17Speaker 2: find time to shower and get glammed up But not
- 10:19Speaker 2: everyone was impressed. Now, before we get into it, Soph,
- 10:22Speaker 2: can you bring this up to speed with who Paige is? Yeah, well,
- 10:25Speaker 2: she is a former paramedic who found fame on Love
- 10:28Speaker 2: Island UK back in 2022. And she quickly became a
- 10:32Speaker 2: fan favourite after her rugby player partner on the show, Jax,
- 10:36Speaker 2: did her dirty in Casa Amor. I loved Paige, but
- 10:39Speaker 2: I can't lie. I also had a soft spot for Jax. Yeah,
- 10:42Speaker 2: I mean, he was very young at the time.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he was like 22.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I was like, how you just said Jax, Soph, reminded
- 10:46Speaker 2: me of how she used to say it on the show.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Jax, Jax. Because she's got the best Welsh accent. Yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 1: I'm really not sure about Jacks.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Side note, this is very off topic, but I've been
- 10:55Speaker 2: reading my son's Cinderella and there's two mice. The two
- 11:00Speaker 2: mice are called Gus and Jacks. But there's some debate
- 11:05Speaker 2: because my husband was paying me out because I just
- 11:06Speaker 2: said Jack and Gus and he's like, isn't it Jacks?
- 11:09Speaker 1: And I was like, well, I don't know. Is it
- 11:11Speaker 1: Jack or Jacks? How's it spelled? Isn't it Jack's? It's J-A-Q-U-E-S. However,
- 11:18Speaker 1: when I Googled it, apparently in the movie they say
- 11:21Speaker 1: it both ways. What do you mean? So in the
- 11:24Speaker 1: movie they say Jack and then Jack. Yeah, it's interchangeable apparently.
- 11:27Speaker 1: So people are confused.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Anyway, if anyone knows the answer. That's a bit of
- 11:29Speaker 2: a fun fact I don't think we need.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Let's get back to this story. Someone's going to be
- 11:32Speaker 1: able to use that knowledge in a pub quiz at
- 11:34Speaker 1: some point.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Now, getting back to Paige, she went on to gain
- 11:37Speaker 2: 1.2 million followers off the back of Love Island. She
- 11:41Speaker 2: has a new partner now. Her boyfriend is called Drew Wedlake.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And he, similar to Tommy Fury, is a heavyweight boxer
- 11:47Speaker 2: and also a country music star, which is pretty random.
- 11:50Speaker 2: He appeared on X Factor almost 10 years ago. And
- 11:54Speaker 2: just two weeks ago, as you touched on, they have
- 11:56Speaker 2: welcomed a new baby boy called Fately. This is going
- 12:00Speaker 2: to be one of the worst influencer names I've ever seen.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I had to do a double take when I saw
- 12:04Speaker 2: it because it sounds and is almost.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Spelt like fatally. Is it a Welsh name though? No,
- 12:10Speaker 1: it's a made-up name. Everyone has been like, what were
- 12:14Speaker 1: you thinking?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Is it almost like she saw the name fate? and
- 12:18Speaker 2: then Lee and was like, oh, they're two pretty names.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Let's join them together and never said it out loud. Look,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I'm not a fan of the name, but I always
- 12:24Speaker 2: feel really sorry for someone when they're in the depths
- 12:28Speaker 2: of postpartum and then they get slammed for the name.
- 12:31Speaker 2: But surely she knew that there was going to be
- 12:33Speaker 2: some backlash over this name. I mean, she saw with
- 12:35Speaker 2: Molly Mae when she called her daughter Bambi, which actually
- 12:38Speaker 2: seems like quite a common name compared to Faith Lee.
- 12:41Speaker 2: According to Google, it's not a traditional Christian name. It
- 12:44Speaker 2: actually comes from an English and Irish surname. So the
- 12:48Speaker 2: meanings are linked to fate and destiny.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Well, that's quite nice.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Maybe she wanted a little girl and was going to
- 12:53Speaker 2: call it fate and then was like, F this, I'm
- 12:55Speaker 2: keeping that name. I've seen a lot of people in
- 12:57Speaker 2: the comments saying it's not too late to change the name.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Like don't register the name.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Well, let's dive into her recent TikTok, which is attracting
- 13:05Speaker 2: a lot of attention. So she posted a video with
- 13:08Speaker 2: the caption, fresh hair and a newborn, completed it with
- 13:11Speaker 2: two shaking hands emojis.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I want to point out that that completed it. That
- 13:15Speaker 1: is a.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Line of the in-betweeners, you know, when Jay's like completed
- 13:18Speaker 2: it about the video game.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So I think she was trying to have a bit
- 13:21Speaker 1: of fun there. I like the in-betweeners, but I have
- 13:23Speaker 1: no recollection of that quote.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Jay always lies and he pretended that he's completed every
- 13:28Speaker 2: video game and then his friend's like, but you can't
- 13:30Speaker 2: complete that game. Surely she's not quoting that. That's a
- 13:34Speaker 2: very obscure in-betweeners reference.
- 13:36Speaker 3: She is.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Let's get back to the caption.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So she continued to say, I know that not everyone's
- 13:41Speaker 2: home life is the same as mine and that every
- 13:43Speaker 2: baby is different and some are so much more difficult
- 13:45Speaker 2: on a daily. But for all of the scaremongering people
- 13:48Speaker 2: who say about not being able to shower or anything
- 13:51Speaker 2: when you have a baby, here you go, girlies. Now,
- 13:55Speaker 2: I think that that caption immediately rubbed mums up the
- 13:57Speaker 2: wrong way because it had sort of this air of
- 13:59Speaker 2: arrogance that you often see with new parents who don't
- 14:02Speaker 2: realise that their baby hasn't yet woken up to the world.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Who have yet to be slapped on the cock. That's right.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Let's take a listen to more of what Paige said
- 14:09Speaker 2: in her Glow Up video.
- 14:11Speaker 4: I'm not even going to attempt mascara because I don't
- 14:14Speaker 4: always end up getting to wash my face in the
- 14:16Speaker 4: night time. But I always do get my shower in
- 14:19Speaker 4: the morning. And this is just for... All the other
- 14:21Speaker 4: like moms or like pregnancy girlies that are out there
- 14:24Speaker 4: thinking like, oh, it's going to be so hard. I'm
- 14:25Speaker 4: never going to be able to do it. You fully can.
- 14:28Speaker 4: You fully can have the best of both worlds. And
- 14:31Speaker 4: my baby likes it when I've always got like my
- 14:33Speaker 4: chest out so he can always just have some cuddles there.
- 14:36Speaker 4: So I know it's not the weather for a vest top,
- 14:38Speaker 4: but it is most definitely weather for good hair. So yes,
- 14:45Speaker 4: you can still feel like you can still have showers
- 14:48Speaker 4: and get you. I missed a bit. And get yourself
- 14:51Speaker 4: all nice and ready when you have a newborn girlies.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I actually think this is more of a reflection about
- 14:58Speaker 2: how much help you get from your partner or the
- 15:00Speaker 2: village that you've got around you. And then also if
- 15:04Speaker 2: this is a priority for you. No, because she was
- 15:06Speaker 2: getting ready whilst her partner wasn't even there. So she
- 15:08Speaker 2: was looking after the newborn. I think it's a reflection
- 15:11Speaker 2: that the newborn hasn't woken up to the world yet,
- 15:13Speaker 2: that she's able to do all of these things.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I don't necessarily agree with this backlash.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I think it's kind of nice that she's saying to
- 15:20Speaker 2: people who are concerned that you know, don't stress like
- 15:23Speaker 2: you can get things done.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Like it's quite a positive message.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean, this video elicited a huge response at
- 15:28Speaker 2: the time of recording. It's had 1.1 million views. I
- 15:31Speaker 2: think my favorite comment was this caption is giving Molly
- 15:34Speaker 2: Mae same 24.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Hours in a day, but make it polite version. Oh,
- 15:38Speaker 1: come on.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Another mum weighed in saying not so easy if you
- 15:41Speaker 2: have a baby with colic. I mean, these videos always
- 15:44Speaker 2: draw out the poor mums with babies with colic. Kate,
- 15:47Speaker 2: the new crowd that I'm part of, the You Just
- 15:49Speaker 2: Wait crowd, they were out in force in this comment section.
- 15:51Speaker 2: One wrote, doing all of this is easy with a newborn.
- 15:54Speaker 2: It's when they're toddlers, which got over 1,800 likes. There
- 15:58Speaker 2: were some mums that jumped to Paige's defense, though. One wrote,
- 16:01Speaker 2: can't stand some of the comments. Just let her enjoy
- 16:03Speaker 2: being a new mum and be happy about the little
- 16:05Speaker 2: things without projecting your own experience onto hers. Not every
- 16:09Speaker 2: stage needs to come with a warning about how much
- 16:11Speaker 2: harder it's going to get. Let her enjoy the moment
- 16:13Speaker 2: and the positivity. I actually saw a similar response on
- 16:17Speaker 2: a video about an Australian mum talking about how boring
- 16:20Speaker 2: maternity leave is and that she's just stuck in her
- 16:22Speaker 2: chair and it's just like rinse and repeat, which I
- 16:25Speaker 2: actually agree with.
- 16:26Speaker 1: The thing is, I think... She meant that mentally it's
- 16:30Speaker 1: really boring.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 1: But you've still got a lot to do. Well, it's
- 16:33Speaker 1: Groundhog Day, isn't it, when you've got a newborn?
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but everyone was like, oh, just you wait till,
- 16:36Speaker 2: you know, they're a bit older and, oh, shouldn't you
- 16:39Speaker 2: be enjoying yourself? I think this is just the common
- 16:41Speaker 2: feedback you get used to about these parenting videos because
- 16:44Speaker 2: everyone has a different experience. And if their experience isn't
- 16:47Speaker 2: reflected in this video, people get up and about. I
- 16:51Speaker 2: also either think you're a newborn mum or a toddler mum.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Some people flourish as newborn mums. Whereas I personally would
- 16:58Speaker 2: consider myself a better toddler mom. Like I love the
- 17:01Speaker 2: toddler phase. The whole thing with this video is clearly
- 17:04Speaker 2: Paige has copped it all during her pregnancy. from other
- 17:07Speaker 2: moms saying you're never going to get time to get
- 17:09Speaker 2: ready to the extent that you do. And she's trying
- 17:11Speaker 2: to prove a point with this video. But the thing is,
- 17:14Speaker 2: it's obviously rubbed some moms up the wrong way who
- 17:16Speaker 2: literally have no time in the morning. I mean, I
- 17:18Speaker 2: think it struck a chord with me because I never
- 17:21Speaker 2: have a time to have a shower unless I get
- 17:24Speaker 2: up super, super early, which I don't want to do
- 17:26Speaker 2: because I want to maximize my sleeping time. So I
- 17:28Speaker 2: think when you're sitting there looking like an absolute mess
- 17:31Speaker 2: and you see someone fully you know, glamming themselves up.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You go, why don't I have time to do that?
- 17:35Speaker 1: Is there something wrong with me? Am I not mother?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Am I not parenting well enough?
- 17:39Speaker 2: I think what's rubbed people up the wrong way is
- 17:41Speaker 2: her tone. And as you're saying, Sophie, she's kind of
- 17:44Speaker 2: posted this as a response to be like, You said
- 17:46Speaker 2: I couldn't do this and now I have. But the
- 17:48Speaker 2: people who don't know that context are probably like.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Hang on, why are you being so smug?
- 17:52Speaker 2: Like, you know, we're all just doing our best. And
- 17:54Speaker 2: I think that's what people have got to remember. Most
- 17:56Speaker 2: mums out there are just trying to.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Do their best.
- 17:58Speaker 2: And that's why TikTok can be so damaging because all
- 18:01Speaker 2: you do is compare yourself to the other mums on
- 18:04Speaker 2: there without the important context that you need.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Maybe she had a really, really shit night.
- 18:10Speaker 2: And she's just trying to make herself better and do
- 18:12Speaker 2: herself up so she feels confident that day. I feel
- 18:15Speaker 2: sorry for Paige though because I feel like she's almost
- 18:17Speaker 2: setting herself up for the fall by putting this sort
- 18:19Speaker 2: of content out there because now there's so many mums
- 18:21Speaker 2: who are thirsty to be like, See, we told you
- 18:24Speaker 2: you'd have no time. Like as soon as your baby's
- 18:26Speaker 2: on the move, you're not going to get any time. Sadly,
- 18:28Speaker 2: I just think the TikTok comments though reflect what we
- 18:31Speaker 2: all think and talk about behind closed doors because as
- 18:36Speaker 2: new parents, you often do judge the other new parents.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Or compare your experience to theirs.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're like, oh, it's interesting that they're doing
- 18:43Speaker 2: this and that and oh, they're out at a cafe
- 18:45Speaker 2: and oh, they've got time to get ready. And sometimes
- 18:47Speaker 2: it does make you feel like, oh, well, why wasn't
- 18:50Speaker 2: I doing that? And that's when you lash out and
- 18:52Speaker 2: you go, oh, well, just you wait. You're going to
- 18:54Speaker 2: find this stage of parenting much more difficult. We even
- 18:56Speaker 2: did that with each.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Other though because I feel like, Kate, you.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Obviously had Jack first and you did things differently to
- 19:02Speaker 2: how I did things.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I was the cafe mum. And I remember you were like, oh,
- 19:07Speaker 1: just wait. You won't be able to do that all
- 19:08Speaker 1: the time. Well, that's the thing.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Motherhood is such a journey and it's only with hindsight
- 19:12Speaker 2: that you realise things.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Eleni Pullen has revealed her four-year-old daughter spoiled.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Her engagement surprise. A month on from announcing her engagement
- 19:21Speaker 2: to Brock Wadsworth, the podcaster shared the moment he proposed
- 19:24Speaker 2: on Instagram, captioning it, and that was how the cookie
- 19:27Speaker 2: accidentally crumbled. Now, the couple and Minnie were actually on
- 19:31Speaker 2: their way to Europe when it happened.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 19:36Speaker 3: You didn't keep the secret.
- 19:39Speaker 2: It wasn't actual.
- 19:40Speaker 4: You want to marry me, Haha!
- 19:46Speaker 3: Can you marry broccoli?
- 19:47Speaker 1: It goes, fuck you blew it, Minnie.
- 19:51Speaker 4: I'm so lost for words.
- 19:53Speaker 1: If that's not the most me and you and Minnie proposal.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Oh, you're so cute.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You were going to do it overseas and Minnie just
- 20:03Speaker 1: blew it?
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Here we are. Guess what?
- 20:08Speaker 3: Guess what?
- 20:14Speaker 2: I mean, to be fair, I think whenever you're in
- 20:17Speaker 2: your thirties and you're on your way to Europe with
- 20:19Speaker 2: your partner, you're probably expecting an engagement.
- 20:21Speaker 1: So I don't think that she necessarily ruined.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It for them.
- 20:23Speaker 1: She seemed pretty surprised.
- 20:24Speaker 2: And that video captured the moment where all the pieces
- 20:27Speaker 2: of the puzzle were falling into place.
- 20:29Speaker 1: She's like, oh, is that why.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Her podcast co-host Chloe Fisher told her to bring along
- 20:33Speaker 2: a bunch of nice dresses because Brock and Chloe had
- 20:36Speaker 2: come up with this elaborate story that, oh, you know,
- 20:39Speaker 2: you're going to do this photo shoot on a boat,
- 20:41Speaker 2: but that's actually where he was going to propose. that
- 20:43Speaker 2: Brock's the one that made the mistake why would you
- 20:45Speaker 2: ever tell the four-year-old like they literally spill every all
- 20:48Speaker 2: the beans all the time that was a real big
- 20:51Speaker 2: lesson for him moving forward as her stepdad I did
- 20:54Speaker 2: feel for him though because it would be so disappointing
- 20:56Speaker 2: coming up with this big plan in saying that they
- 20:58Speaker 2: were still traveling to Europe in business class so I
- 21:01Speaker 2: mean you know champagne problems there you know it's kind
- 21:04Speaker 2: of cute though especially her calling him it's actually kind
- 21:08Speaker 2: of a better story and more interesting isn't more of
- 21:10Speaker 2: a humble story isn't it yeah I wanted to know,
- 21:12Speaker 2: I mean, our kids are a little bit too young,
- 21:15Speaker 2: but can you remember ruining any of mum and.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Dad's surprises or secrets? Sophie, you always did. Yeah, you
- 21:20Speaker 1: guys are looking at me.
- 21:21Speaker 2: You got us blacklisted from finding out any information because.
- 21:25Speaker 1: You had the loosest lips. She still does. I didn't
- 21:27Speaker 1: understand at the time, but yeah, I remember ruining. At
- 21:30Speaker 1: the time, you literally.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Spill, we'll be watching a TV show and I'll be like, oh, Sophie,
- 21:33Speaker 2: please don't ruin it for me. And you're like, oh,
- 21:35Speaker 2: this doesn't ruin it.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But X, Y, Z. And I'm like, what the hell?
- 21:38Speaker 1: I always have to look up like on reality shows.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I like to look up who's won just, just for
- 21:45Speaker 2: my own thrill.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I still get shocked when people trust you with their secrets.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I don't know why. Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So, I mean, the one that springs to mind as
- 21:51Speaker 2: a child was, I remember dad telling me that he'd
- 21:54Speaker 2: bought mom an Elton John CD for her birthday.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And I just flat out told her straight to her face,
- 21:58Speaker 1: like in the next breath. And he's like, We are
- 22:00Speaker 1: never trusting you with presents again.
- 22:02Speaker 2: See, I feel like Jack's getting to the age where
- 22:04Speaker 2: he probably will start repeating things I say and I've
- 22:07Speaker 2: got to be really careful. Yeah, I feel like you
- 22:09Speaker 2: have really started to speak in code. And it's funny
- 22:12Speaker 2: because when Amy and I get together, because the boys
- 22:14Speaker 2: don't really understand, we'll just talk about anything and everything,
- 22:17Speaker 2: but you're having like spell stuff out and give different
- 22:20Speaker 2: names for people or things.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And you're just like, oh my God.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I want to put it out to the mums group
- 22:24Speaker 2: because I'm sure there's a lot of you who have
- 22:26Speaker 2: some hilarious stories of when your kids have ruined a
- 22:29Speaker 2: surprise or told one of your secrets that you didn't
- 22:32Speaker 2: want anyone to know about.
- 22:33Speaker 1: We'll put up a thread in our Facebook group.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Irina Serbinoski has sparked debate about toddler discipline. The former
- 22:41Speaker 2: Bachelor contestant was shopping with her toddler and her mother
- 22:44Speaker 2: when this happened.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I was just at a local shop with my mum
- 22:50Speaker 3: and Ava and it was a footwear store and Ava
- 22:55Speaker 3: had grabbed two shoes off the sale rack was handing
- 22:58Speaker 3: them to my mom for my mom to try on.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And I was like, Ava, just put them back. And
- 23:02Speaker 3: she was like, no.
- 23:04Speaker 1: And the store.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Lady snapped them off her and said, I will take
- 23:07Speaker 3: them off from you. She's like, bye-bye. And did that
- 23:11Speaker 3: to Ava. And I don't know how I feel about it.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I felt really uncomfortable. I felt like we're getting kicked
- 23:17Speaker 3: out of the store for my toddler holding two pairs
- 23:19Speaker 3: of shoes. She wasn't doing anything with them. But what
- 23:22Speaker 3: are your thoughts on strangers telling your child off and
- 23:27Speaker 3: even when they.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Weren't really doing anything. That would make my blood absolutely boil,
- 23:31Speaker 2: especially the bye-bye now.
- 23:33Speaker 1: It's funny because even when you two disciplined Jack, I
- 23:37Speaker 1: get a bit like, hang on, back off. Even though
- 23:40Speaker 1: what you're saying is.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Exactly what I would say. I remember disciplining your naughty
- 23:44Speaker 2: dog once. She was trying to run across the road
- 23:45Speaker 2: and I was like, no, don't do that.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Stay.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And you're like, please don't speak to my dog like that.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I was like, what the hell? Do you know what
- 23:50Speaker 1: I think it is?
- 23:51Speaker 2: It's because, well, one, you don't really want people having
- 23:54Speaker 2: a tone with your child. But two, it's because it's
- 23:57Speaker 2: almost an insult to you. It's undermining. Yeah, it's undermining
- 24:00Speaker 2: you at saying, hey, you're not doing enough here. So
- 24:02Speaker 2: I'm going to have to step in and discipline this child. Oh,
- 24:04Speaker 2: but I think as an auntie, you can step in. Yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 2: but not as some random shop lady. If some random
- 24:09Speaker 2: did this to me, I would be very impolite. Do
- 24:12Speaker 2: you know what's worse? When it's a random who doesn't
- 24:15Speaker 2: have their own child. I was surprised though, because a
- 24:18Speaker 2: lot of people were on the side of the retail assistant.
- 24:21Speaker 2: So someone wrote, I own a shop. And you wouldn't
- 24:23Speaker 2: believe the amount of parents letting their children free range
- 24:25Speaker 2: in the store and leaving an utter mess behind for
- 24:28Speaker 2: staff to clean up.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I'm a mum.
- 24:30Speaker 2: At home, it's the constant cleanup after the kids. Perhaps
- 24:33Speaker 2: put yourself in her shoes. She may just have had
- 24:35Speaker 2: enough that day. Children should be kept close and not carry,
- 24:39Speaker 2: play around in a store with items. Those items are
- 24:41Speaker 2: pricey and displayed to be sold, not played with. Now
- 24:44Speaker 2: that comment got 166 likes. It actually reminded me of
- 24:47Speaker 2: the comment, children are to be seen, but not heard.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I get where they're coming from. In the instance where.
- 24:51Speaker 2: There is a child, And they're going absolutely wild and
- 24:54Speaker 2: everyone in the shop is giving the eyes, like who
- 24:56Speaker 2: was going to discipline that child and nothing happens.
- 24:58Speaker 1: This sounds very different to what actually happened in this situation.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I mean, it sounds like Irina's daughter was quite well
- 25:04Speaker 2: behaved and just had the shoes in her hand.
- 25:05Speaker 1: That's the worst though, the looks that people give you.
- 25:08Speaker 2: We were in a cafe the other day and we were,
- 25:11Speaker 2: feeding our sons their lunch.
- 25:12Speaker 1: They were behaving so perfectly too.
- 25:14Speaker 2: I think Harry just let out one like, like, you know,
- 25:16Speaker 2: when the kids just randomly do like a bit of
- 25:18Speaker 2: a shrill and these fucking women at this other table,
- 25:21Speaker 2: these older women, they sort of gave us the eyes
- 25:24Speaker 2: and it's like, oh, I'm so sorry.
- 25:26Speaker 1: They gave us the dead eye.
- 25:27Speaker 2: One of them gave absolutely stink eye.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And it's like, I'm so sorry that our child has
- 25:33Speaker 1: let out a scream.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 2: It's almost like when you become a parent, you have
- 25:37Speaker 2: to be apologetic that you're even there. It's like, I
- 25:39Speaker 2: shouldn't be apologizing for me and my child being at
- 25:43Speaker 2: a cafe. Like, sorry that we're existing in the same
- 25:46Speaker 2: space as you.
- 25:47Speaker 1: These women were clearly retired. And it's like, hang on,
- 25:49Speaker 1: have you forgotten what it was like? When I'm in
- 25:51Speaker 1: my 70s, I feel like I'll be the type of
- 25:54Speaker 1: beautiful woman that I normally come across that's like opening
- 25:57Speaker 1: the door for you. That's the thing.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Usually women of that age are so lovely and they'll
- 26:01Speaker 2: always help you and give you a smile. That's why
- 26:04Speaker 2: I think I was so sort of like, what the
- 26:05Speaker 2: hell's going on here? I would have been less surprised
- 26:08Speaker 2: if the women were like younger women in their 20s
- 26:10Speaker 2: who didn't have kids and were like, oh, shut up.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Because I remember going to cafes with our best friend
- 26:15Speaker 2: and there'd be a child screaming and not that you'd
- 26:18Speaker 2: give them a dirty look, but you'd make a joke like, oh, like.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Look that under control to be fair I.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Probably did incidentally give people dirty looks and I regret
- 26:27Speaker 2: that majorly unfortunately I have a really expressive face and
- 26:32Speaker 2: it's just written all over my face and I wouldn't
- 26:34Speaker 2: have meant to be rude but I probably was so
- 26:37Speaker 2: maybe that's why it's coming back to us you know
- 26:38Speaker 2: what this is a big lesson for everyone though that
- 26:40Speaker 2: most people don't want you to parent their child because
- 26:43Speaker 2: You know, sometimes you think you're doing the right thing.
- 26:45Speaker 1: You think you're.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Lending a helping hand by being like, oh, come on now,
- 26:49Speaker 2: that's enough.
- 26:50Speaker 1: But it's really not your place.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I think the time where you can parent someone's child
- 26:54Speaker 2: is if the situation is about to get dangerous. So
- 26:56Speaker 2: if some kid is like running towards the road, you
- 26:59Speaker 2: can step in, but it's not like telling them off.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It's just, you know, it's just the undermining of the
- 27:03Speaker 2: other parent, which I don't like. I remember seeing this
- 27:05Speaker 2: viral clip last year and it was this woman who
- 27:08Speaker 2: was at the park. I don't think she had kids,
- 27:10Speaker 2: but she was, I think she was filming for a
- 27:12Speaker 2: TikTok and And this kid tried to.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Take something of hers and she was like, oh, that
- 27:16Speaker 1: belongs to me.
- 27:17Speaker 2: You cannot take that. Please return it. And the dad
- 27:20Speaker 2: came up and he's like, how.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Dare you speak to my child like that? How dare
- 27:23Speaker 1: you parent? And they're just like, I was just merely
- 27:25Speaker 1: telling him he couldn't take my things. He's like, don't
- 27:27Speaker 1: you tell me how to parent.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I mean, to be fair, maybe that dad had a
- 27:30Speaker 2: really hard day seeing it on the other side now.
- 27:33Speaker 1: It's like you're taking.
- 27:34Speaker 2: The rage that should be out on your child on
- 27:37Speaker 2: It's like that guy who does those videos where he
- 27:41Speaker 2: pretends to be an overstimulated mum.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Does it matter who is doing the parenting undermining?
- 27:46Speaker 2: Because, you know, you've said that you don't like us
- 27:48Speaker 2: doing it and we are genetically.
- 27:50Speaker 1: His half mother of sorts.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Look, I didn't say I didn't like you doing it,
- 27:54Speaker 2: but there is this thing of like, oh, hang on.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Who do you think you are to say that?
- 27:57Speaker 2: What about when your husbands have disciplined your kids? Like,
- 28:00Speaker 2: do you have an issue with that? Rhys hates it
- 28:02Speaker 2: because sometimes I undermine what he said. Like, I feel
- 28:04Speaker 2: like he's been a bit mean.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I'll be like, no. Which is probably the worst thing
- 28:09Speaker 1: to do.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes I'll hear Dale being tough with Harry and
- 28:12Speaker 2: I'm like, he's 18 months old.
- 28:14Speaker 1: He doesn't know what you're saying.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I've done that with our dogs before. Like Rhys will
- 28:18Speaker 2: be like, get out of here. Or like Sonny's stolen something.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And then I'm like, let her back in. I saw
- 28:22Speaker 2: this video of this man and he had the cutest
- 28:24Speaker 2: little girl and the mother's like, tell her off. And
- 28:27Speaker 2: the girl like sort of like is quivering her lip
- 28:30Speaker 2: and he's like just hugging her.
- 28:31Speaker 1: She's like, tell her off. And he's like, I'm not
- 28:33Speaker 1: doing that. I'm sorry, I'm not.
- 28:35Speaker 2: We laugh so much because obviously Brandon and I are
- 28:37Speaker 2: the biggest dog parents and we went on a trip
- 28:40Speaker 2: recently with you, Amy, and you said it's so funny
- 28:42Speaker 2: because Brandon literally loves Archie more than anything.
- 28:45Speaker 1: But he will be so strict with him and be like,
- 28:47Speaker 1: get down, get down.
- 28:49Speaker 2: And then at night time he's really like pashing Archie
- 28:51Speaker 2: on the couch. I was thinking, oh, my God, he's
- 28:54Speaker 2: going to be so strict with Luca, isn't he, saying,
- 28:56Speaker 2: I just don't want to have a child that's badly
- 28:58Speaker 2: behaved or has no manners.
- 28:59Speaker 1: And I totally get that.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I can't even imagine Luca being rude though. He's like
- 29:03Speaker 2: the sweetest little boy. Again, fast forward to a year
- 29:06Speaker 2: when they start talking back to us, we'll be like,
- 29:07Speaker 2: oh my God.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Actually, I've just had a flashback.
- 29:09Speaker 2: You know, when you were talking about that woman giving
- 29:11Speaker 2: you the stank eye when Harry yelled, Jack actually disciplined
- 29:14Speaker 2: Harry in that moment.
- 29:15Speaker 1: He was like, no screaming. How did that make you feel?
- 29:18Speaker 1: It's like the soup Nazi on Seinfeld. No bread, no
- 29:22Speaker 1: soup for you. Oh, I thought it was hilarious. We
- 29:25Speaker 1: actually all burst out laughing.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and we were sort of saying it kind of
- 29:27Speaker 2: made us feel better because, you know, back in the
- 29:29Speaker 2: newborn phase when they'd just scream and you'd be so
- 29:32Speaker 2: overstimulated and you'd be like, oh, my God, I'm so irritated.
- 29:36Speaker 2: The fact that Jack couldn't deal with Harry screaming for
- 29:38Speaker 2: a second and was like, no, stop it. The funniest
- 29:41Speaker 2: thing is like 10 minutes later he started doing the
- 29:43Speaker 2: same scream at the end. It made me think, oh,
- 29:46Speaker 2: my God, Kate, if you and Rhys have another baby,
- 29:50Speaker 2: what will happen if the baby's losing it?
- 29:51Speaker 1: And he's just like, no, stop. Well, I mean, the
- 29:54Speaker 1: baby's not going to listen to him, but I know.
- 29:56Speaker 2: But I feel like you are that mother who is
- 29:59Speaker 2: so driven by what Jack does. Like we'll be like, okay,
- 30:01Speaker 2: do you mind meeting us out the front of the house?
- 30:03Speaker 2: And we'll go straight across to this cafe because, you know,
- 30:06Speaker 2: we just want to go and give them their lunch.
- 30:08Speaker 2: And you're like, no, Jack says we have to come inside.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, because I'm trying to put out
- 30:12Speaker 1: fires left, right.
- 30:13Speaker 2: And center you in, I think in six months time,
- 30:16Speaker 2: you will be like how did you even get him
- 30:17Speaker 2: to sit at that cafe? I think a lot of mums.
- 30:20Speaker 2: You just become scared of your child, don't you? You do.
- 30:22Speaker 1: You're literally like they're like in charge and you're like
- 30:25Speaker 1: we'll do whatever. We'll make this day a little bit easier.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I saw this TikTok and it was like I used
- 30:30Speaker 2: to be scared about my newborn whether they were breathing.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Now I'm just scared of them. It's actually so true. Well,
- 30:37Speaker 2: on that note, that is where we're going to leave
- 30:39Speaker 2: things today. If you enjoy the podcast, we would absolutely love.
- 30:42Speaker 1: It if you could give us a five-star review.
