  Hello, and thank you for joining us as we talk about Luke chapter 6 and verse
• 1:24
  38. It never ceases to amaze me how difficult it is for me to give to the Lord what he asks of me.
• 1:33
  Giving of my tithes, I've been conditioned and trained and disciplined to do so.
• 1:37
  That isn't difficult for me. Giving of my time is a little more difficult for me.
• 1:42
  But when he asked me to do something out of my love for him that is contrary
• 1:49
  to what I want to do or sometimes to what I think is right, it is so difficult for me to do it.
• 1:57
  And the Bible tells us that obedience is better than sacrifice why is it that
• 2:02
  it's so hard for us to give you see i'm so reminded of that walk that christ took,
• 2:10
  to calvary as he stood suspended between heaven and hell on an old rugged cross
• 2:17
  giving all he had holding nothing back and without any hesitation,
• 2:23
  you see when he went to the garden of gethsemane he allowed all of us to know
• 2:28
  that he fully understood what was going to be required of him he fully understood
• 2:33
  what it was going to take to buy my salvation and he knew how difficult it was going to be
• 2:38
  and when he stood and knelt in the garden of gethsemane and he spoke to god
• 2:44
  he said if there be any other way let this cup pass from me.
• 2:50
  The lord explained to him that there was no other way that he was the only sacrifice
• 2:56
  that would pay the sin debt for you and me.
• 2:59
  And I want you to know right now, right here, at this very moment,
• 3:04
  this truth still exists.
• 3:06
  God sent his son to die for your sins, and he was the only payment that would suffice for our sins.
• 3:16
  And he gave his life on Calvary's cross voluntarily for you and me.
• 3:26
  At any time, he could have called 10,000 angels to bring him off the cross.
• 3:33
  Do not kid yourself and think that the three nails and fear of the centurion guard which he created,
• 3:42
  held him on that cross. It was his love for you and his love for me that held him on that cross.

  And he gave. You see, the Bible says in John 3, 16, that for God so loved the world that he gave.

  Nowhere in scripture does it see that there was agonizing argument over what he would do.

  Nowhere in scripture does it show us that he wrestled whether i'll do this or
• 4:12
  not it shows us that he went to the garden of gethsemane
• 4:16
  and he spoke about the facts and that he showed us that his intent
• 4:20
  was was to save our souls and his motivation was love because he showed us that
• 4:26
  he knew what it was going to cost him on the cross it wasn't something that
• 4:31
  he got himself into and all of a sudden he had gone too far and couldn't turn back.
• 4:35
  No, he freely gave his life for you and me that we might have heaven as our home. Why is it then?
• 4:43
  We have such a horrible time giving anything back to him.
• 4:48
  You see, in Luke 6, verse 38, he says, Give, and it shall be given unto you,
• 4:52
  good measure, pressed down and shaken together, and running over shall be given
• 4:57
  to your bosom. For with the same measure that ye meet, witho it shall be measured to you again.

  He gave us the example of giving all that you have.
• 5:07
  And then he told us the rewards for giving.
• 5:11
  Yet you and I have such a difficult time giving.
• 5:16
  You know what it is? The devil wants to rob us of that blessing.
• 5:23
  And so he blocks from our minds and our memory what God has done for us.
• 5:29
  And we get so caught up in ourselves that somehow we think we know what the
• 5:32
  next step in our life is and how it should be done best without consulting him
• 5:36
  or even listening to him.
• 5:38
  So when he speaks to us about doing something, some of us don't even hear him.
• 5:42
  And others of us just simply do it our way and figure he'll leave us alone.
• 5:48
  First and foremost, you don't ever want him leaving you alone.
• 5:51
  You never want the hand of God to be removed from your life.
• 5:55
  My friends, he loves you and he loves you unconditionally. And he never asks
• 5:59
  you to do what he doesn't equip you to do.
• 6:01
  He never sends you somewhere. He leads you, and there's a huge difference.
• 6:06
  If I send you somewhere, then I stay right where I am, and I send you away,
• 6:10
  and there's a separation between me and you.
• 6:13
  But the God of the universe doesn't do that. He may lead you somewhere,
• 6:17
  and when he leads you, that means not only is he still with you, he's in front of you.
• 6:21
  So every obstacle, every problem, everything that comes your way has been sifted
• 6:26
  through the nail-scarred hands of Jesus Christ as he's going in front of you,
• 6:32
  paving the way for you to do the task he's asked you to do.
• 6:37
  My dear friends, he says in Luke 6, verse 38, that if we give, it'll be given unto us.
• 6:43
  He says, not only will he give to us, but it will be given good measure.
• 6:50
  That means there'll be fair equity. Actually, it's better than fair equity because
• 6:54
  if I got what I deserved, I'd be in hell with no way of getting out. I don't want justice.
• 7:00
  I love living by grace.
• 7:04
  But good measure means I'm going to like how he weighs the balance.
• 7:09
  And I'm not going to be upset like they were in olden times when the crooks
• 7:13
  would set the scales so that they were wrong and you'd get cheated.
• 7:17
  Good measure. It's going to be good, and I'm going to like it. Press down.
• 7:23
  My mom used to try her best to teach me how to cook, and my mother never felt
• 7:28
  it in anything I know, but that was pretty close.
• 7:30
  And we would be in the kitchen, and she would get a thing of flour,
• 7:34
  and she would always tell me to get a cup of flour.
• 7:36
  Well, when I got flour, I liked to heap it over and see how much I could get
• 7:40
  in the cup, and without it falling out when I walked around and had many mistrials
• 7:45
  and it would fall off and all kinds of things would happen like that.
• 7:47
  But I would notice that when my mom got flour, she'd pack it way down.
• 7:53
  And my mom could get more flour in that cup when she'd press it down and pack
• 7:58
  it than I could get with my loosely made mound of flour.
• 8:03
  You see, when you press it down, you utilize every bit of the space.
• 8:08
  When you press it down there's no air in between the particles with wasted space,
• 8:15
  when you press it down you can utilize every single bit of that cup,
• 8:20
  and what he says is you give to me and i'll give to you good measure you'll
• 8:25
  like how it comes back and i will press down what i give to you and it'll be squished
• 8:30
  and there'll be no wasted space and it'll be absolutely all that your cup can hold
• 8:36
  now that's the point i want you to take a close look at we need to have a cup
• 8:40
  fill my cup lord i lift it up lord.
• 8:44
  We need to be the cup that God is filling. And I want him to press it down to
• 8:48
  where there's not an inch of me, not even a small minuscule space inside of
• 8:52
  me that the devil can creep in or the devil can reside in.
• 8:57
  I want him to press it down, and I want him to continue to give and give and
• 9:00
  put more and more of that upon me.
• 9:02
  And when he gives back to me his blessings that he daily loathes us,
• 9:06
  we're told in Psalm 68, 19, I want to make sure that he's given to me with eyes
• 9:13
  of love and mercy because I've given to him,
• 9:16
  and he's going to daily load me but if I've given to him he's promised me that
• 9:21
  he'll give me a good measure he'll press it down he'll shake it together and it'll be running over,
• 9:26
  far more than I've ever given to him he's already given to me eternal life I can't put a price tag on
• 9:34
  but he doesn't say okay I gave you eternal life now you do everything you want
• 9:38
  that I want you to do for me and you do everything for me and I'm giving you
• 9:42
  nothing else because I'm finished giving stuff to you.
• 9:45
  Now that's how we, as human beings, deal with things.

  We give a lot of stuff to somebody and we help somebody out a little bit and
• 9:54
  then they don't do anything for us in return and the next thing you know we
• 9:57
  wouldn't even give them a drink of water if they were dying of thirst.

  And we justify it by saying, well, they don't do anything for me.
• 10:03
  Life isn't about what people do for you.
• 10:06
  Life is about working for the God of the universe, being appreciative for the love he showed me.
• 10:11
  He died for me before i even knew he existed he loved me before i ever loved him
• 10:16
  he gave the ultimate gift to me when i asked him to forgive me of my sins when
• 10:23
  in all honesty i was unworthy to approach him but he came to me,
• 10:28
  and he knocked on my door as he says in revelations 320 oh how he loves me oh
• 10:35
  how he loves you and oh how he loves you and me when he's asking you to do something
• 10:40
  for him my dear friend you can't out give him,
• 10:43
  what he's already done for you you owe him.
• 10:47
  But that's not how it works, he says. If you'll just give to me,
• 10:51
  I'll give to you good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over.
• 10:58
  And people won't be able to keep from helping you. People won't be able to keep from giving to you.

  But the last part of this verse, he says something that I think is startling.
• 11:09
  He says, for with the same measure that you meet, whither it shall be measured to you again.
• 11:15
  If you're a stingy giver you're not going to receive much people will be stingy when they give to you,
• 11:22
  if you give grudgingly how many of you've had that person in your life and they
• 11:25
  do do things for you and for the next 25 years that's all you hear about they
• 11:29
  tell you how much they've done for you,
• 11:31
  or how about the person who gives to you only expecting something in return,
• 11:37
  are you that kind of person because my friends that's what you're going to face.
• 11:42
  And when it's all said and done and you're in trouble how do you want to be
• 11:45
  treated the example that we were given by god is that you give all that you
• 11:49
  have with everything that you have freely and with love,
• 11:54
  and he said in his words before he left us continue ye in my love,
• 12:02
  my friends give and it shall be given unto you good measure pressed down and
• 12:06
  shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom but with the
• 12:11
  same measure that you meet whither it shall be measured to you again you can't,
• 12:16
  out give God,
