- 0:00Ezekiel chapter 30 continuing on this one's called A Lament Over
- 0:05Egypt, and in this one I see end of the age, end time stuff all
- 0:12over this. So let's get started on this
- 0:17one. The word of the Lord came to me,
- 0:21Son of Man prophecy and say, this is what the sovereign Lord
- 0:24says, wail and say, alas for that day, for the day is near,
- 0:29the day of the Lord is near. So very often throughout all
- 0:35scripture it talks about the day of the Lord.
- 0:38If you do a word search on a digital Bible, you will find the
- 0:45day of the Lord references when Jesus returns and the wrath of
- 0:50God comes. So right there in verse 3 it the
- 0:55day of the Lord is near. That makes me think about the
- 0:59end times. A day of clouds, a time of doom
- 1:03for the nations, plural. A sword will come against Egypt
- 1:09and anguish will come upon Cush, which is modern day Sudan.
- 1:15When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away
- 1:21and her foundations torn down. So I had referenced and I don't
- 1:28know if I had this one called up so I need a minute here to look
- 1:33up this first. But I had referenced Revelation
- 1:37chapter 19 which we know is End Times verse 21 and when it says
- 1:46a sword will come against Egypt. So this ties in Revelation 19
- 1:52verse 21. The rest were killed with the
- 1:55sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse and the
- 1:58birds gorged themselves on their flesh.
- 2:02So that ties in OK then it says Kush, Libya, Lydia and all
- 2:09Arabia, Kub and the people of the covenant land will fall by
- 2:14the sword along with Egypt. So this isn't just against
- 2:18Egypt, it even it says the people of the covenant land it.
- 2:25So Sudan and Libya, Greece is the Lydia of the past and all
- 2:33Arabia like Saudi Arabia, Kub, I did not look up kub Kub and the
- 2:40people of the covenant land. So that would seem to be like
- 2:44Israel, the people of the covenant land.
- 2:47That's the covenant for land is what God gave to the Israelites
- 2:53will fall by the sword along with Egypt.
- 2:57So again, this seems like this is the the final, the wrath of
- 3:02God for those unrepentant people, the people that didn't
- 3:05turn to God. Verse 6, this is what the Lord
- 3:08says, the allies of Egypt will fall.
- 3:11This is where you want to pay attention to the allies because
- 3:15look at what's happening in the world today.
- 3:18The allies of Egypt will fall, and their proud strength will
- 3:21fail. From Migdal to Swan Migdal I
- 3:26wrote down South Africa to Aswan, Egypt.
- 3:29They will fall by sword within her, declares the sovereign
- 3:32Lord. They will be desolate among
- 3:35desolate lands, and their city will lie among ruined cities.
- 3:41Then they will know that I am the Lord when I set fire to
- 3:45Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.
- 3:50So Egypt's going to be, there's going to be fire that comes to
- 3:54it. And remember, I don't know where
- 3:57it is in scripture, but I recall that, you know, God destroyed
- 4:02the earth once before through flood.
- 4:06It was a global flood. And he said he would never do
- 4:10that again. The rainbow's actually a promise
- 4:12of that, that he will never do that again.
- 4:15But there is going to come a day of fire, the whole earth.
- 4:19I think Isaiah says that everything is going to be burned
- 4:23up. And that's what we see in the
- 4:25wrath of God. It comes in stages.
- 4:28When you get into the trumpets and then the bowls of wrath,
- 4:32there is like isolated destruction.
- 4:35It's kind of like here and there and here and there and it keeps
- 4:38getting greater. It starts out like with the the
- 4:40trumpets is like a third and then it's like 2/3 or something.
- 4:45It's a larger quantity. You'll see some of the same
- 4:47things like the first bowl and the first trumpet are similar,
- 4:52except that the first trumpet is a smaller percentage of what is
- 4:59covered in the first bowl. But they affect the same things.
- 5:05So it's, it's very interesting in that.
- 5:08So, OK, back to verse 9. On that day, messengers will go
- 5:12out from me in ships to frighten Kush out of her complacency.
- 5:19Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt's doom, for
- 5:24it is sure to come. This is what the sovereign Lord
- 5:29says. I will put an end to the hordes
- 5:31of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
- 5:35OK, so this is where it would get confusing because you're
- 5:38like the other things sound like end times.
- 5:41But then it talks about Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
- 5:44and he was like in six O 5 BC. So I will put an end to the
- 5:49hordes of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
- 5:53He and his army the most the most ruthless of nations.
- 5:59So the most ruthless of nations sounds like it's Babylon.
- 6:05And then in the end times we have Mystery Babylon.
- 6:09So that has led me to think, is this a spiritual thing where
- 6:16it's passed on from one ruler to another and yet it's the same
- 6:21spiritual entity behind it all. So anyway, it says he and his
- 6:25army, the most ruthless of nations, will be brought in to
- 6:29destroy the land. They will draw their swords
- 6:32against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.
- 6:37Now this is interesting because this is also prophecy during the
- 6:41trumpets where it says I will dry up the waters of the Nile
- 6:47and sell the land to an evil nation by the hand of
- 6:52foreigners. So again, God's going to have
- 6:55his proxy do it. It says by the hand of
- 6:58foreigners. So some foreigner is going to
- 7:02well, God's going to dry up the waters and then he's going to
- 7:05sell the land to an evil nation by the hand of foreigners.
- 7:09I will lay waste the land and everything in it.
- 7:14So he's going to sell the land I wrote down and I don't know that
- 7:18I, I brought these up. I don't think I did.
- 7:21So I have to look these up, but I wrote down Zechariah 10, verse
- 7:2511, so I'm going to look that one up and read it to you
- 7:31because apparently it's OK. So Zechariah 1011, he's yeah, he
- 7:38does say the same thing. He says they will pass through
- 7:42the sea of trouble. The surging sea will be subdued
- 7:45and all the depths of the Nile will dry up.
- 7:51Assyria's pride will be brought down, and Egypt's scepter will
- 7:55pass away. I will strengthen them in the
- 7:59Lord, and in his name they will live securely, says the Lord.
- 8:03So Zechariah is also a prophet and he is saying the same thing
- 8:07about the Nile is going to dry up and he's saying that Egypt's
- 8:11scepter, that's like the authority or the ruling will
- 8:14pass away. So that's going to be the end to
- 8:18just like this prophecy that we're reading right now.
- 8:21It's saying the same thing. Now, Isaiah 19 is another verse
- 8:26that I had written down that had come to mind and reading this
- 8:30and it was it's a prophecy about Egypt.
- 8:33So here, this is how it also ties to the end times.
- 8:38So Isaiah 19 verse one, a prophecy against Egypt.
- 8:42See the Lord rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt.
- 8:49The idols of Egypt tremble before him and the hearts of the
- 8:54Egyptians melt with fear. There's several things here.
- 8:58So when Jesus returns, he comes on a cloud.
- 9:01When he ascended into heaven, the Angel that was there, when
- 9:05his disciples saw that happen, he said the same way that he
- 9:09left is the same way he's going to come back.
- 9:11And in Revelation chapter 6, I think it is 6 at the 6th seal,
- 9:19it talks about Jesus coming on the clouds and everybody's
- 9:23hiding in caves and wanting to be covered because the wrath of
- 9:26God is coming to them. So again, when you look at these
- 9:31things about what is stated here, about the waters drying
- 9:35up, I believe this is at like the end times.
- 9:39And so Isaiah 19, I guess I could read the whole thing just
- 9:45to. Yeah.
- 9:46OK. So you'll see that this is the
- 9:48end. OK, Verse 2, I will stir up
- 9:51Egyptian against Egyptian. Brother will fight against
- 9:55brother, a neighbor against neighbor, city against city,
- 9:58Kingdom against Kingdom. The Egyptians will lose heart,
- 10:00and I will bring their plans to nothing.
- 10:03They will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the
- 10:07mediums and the spiritist. That's all that idolatry that's
- 10:10going on there. I will hand the Egyptians over
- 10:13to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over
- 10:17them. He just said he was going to
- 10:20have sell the land to an evil nation in in Ezekiel, he said he
- 10:24was going to sell the land to an evil nation by the hand of
- 10:26foreigners. So this is consistent.
- 10:32Let's see. The waters of the river will dry
- 10:36up and the riverbed will be parched and dry.
- 10:39So God always says like two or three witnesses established the
- 10:43truth. So Ezekiel said this, Isaiah
- 10:46said this, and Zechariah said this.
- 10:49So we have 3 witnesses. The canals will stink.
- 10:53The streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up.
- 10:56Now the canals will stink. Could that be from fish being on
- 11:00the land and making it really smell?
- 11:02Just like he said he would take that crocodile and the fish
- 11:07would stick to them? I mean it.
- 11:09It just shows the fulfillment of his how it will come about.
- 11:13Also, the plants of the Nile at one mouth of the river, every
- 11:17sown field along the Nile will become parched.
- 11:20Parched will blow away and be no more.
- 11:23The fishermen will groan and lament all who cast hooks in the
- 11:26Nile. Those who throw Nets on the
- 11:28water will pine away, those who work with combed flax will
- 11:32despair, the weavers of fine linen will lose hope, the
- 11:35workers in cloth will be dejected, and all the wage
- 11:38earners will be sick at heart. The officials of Zowen are are
- 11:42nothing but fools. The wise counselors of Pharaoh
- 11:45give senseless advice. How can you say to the Pharaoh,
- 11:49I am one of the wise men, a disciple of the ancient kings?
- 11:54Where are your wise men now? Let them show you and make known
- 11:59what the Lord has planned against Egypt.
- 12:02The officials of Zohan have become fools.
- 12:05The leaders of Memphis are deceived.
- 12:07The corners of her peoples have led Egypt astray.
- 12:12The Lord has pulled forward into them a spirit of dizziness.
- 12:17They make Egypt stagger in all that she does as a drunkard
- 12:22staggers around in his vomit. There is nothing Egypt can do.
- 12:27Head or tail, palm branch or read.
- 12:30In that day, the Egyptians will become weaklings.
- 12:34They will shudder with fear at the uplifted hand that the Lord
- 12:38Almighty raises against them. And the land of Judah will bring
- 12:43terror to the Egyptians. That's interesting.
- 12:46The land of Judah's going to do this.
- 12:48Everyone to whom Judah is mentioned will be terrified
- 12:53because of what the Lord is planning against them.
- 12:57So now we see that Judah is the one that's interesting.
- 13:02OK, I don't know. Let's see how this unfolds.
- 13:05Someday in that day, five cities in Egypt will speak the language
- 13:10of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord Almighty.
- 13:13One of them will be called the city of the Sun.
- 13:16So I think it's, I don't know, it says the Masoretic tacit city
- 13:21of destruction, but there is a city that's called Heliopolis.
- 13:27And then this hasn't happened either.
- 13:28So in Isaiah 19, verse 19, in that day there will be an altar
- 13:33to the Lord in the heart of Egypt and a monument to the Lord
- 13:38at its border. Does that exist today?
- 13:40I don't think so. It will be a sign and witness to
- 13:43the Lord Almighty in the land of Egypt.
- 13:45When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, He
- 13:50will send them a savior and defender and He will rescue
- 13:55them. So the Lord will make himself
- 13:57known to the Egyptians and in that day they will acknowledge
- 14:02the Lord. They will worship with
- 14:04sacrifices and grain offerings. They will make vows to the Lord
- 14:08and keep them. The Lord will strike Egypt with
- 14:12a plague. He will strike them and heal
- 14:16them. They will turn to the Lord and
- 14:19He will respond to their pleas and heal them.
- 14:23In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria.
- 14:28The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egypt, Egyptians to
- 14:32Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will
- 14:35worship together in that day. Israel will be the third along
- 14:41with Egypt and Assyria. A blessing on the earth.
- 14:45So isn't that interesting? Like God, you know, God is so
- 14:49merciful. Even though they were enemies of
- 14:52Israel and he's punishing them. And he shows no favoritism
- 14:55because he's doing the same thing to the people of Israel.
- 14:58He's doing the same thing globally to everyone who doesn't
- 15:03repent and turn to him. All of his enemies will reap
- 15:08what they sow. If they rejected Him, then they
- 15:12will be the subjects of wrath. And some of them obviously here
- 15:18we see that that in verse 22 of Isaiah, it says they, they will
- 15:22turn to the Lord and he will respond.
- 15:25So that's what it takes is when we get to a point finally where
- 15:28we turn to God and we're serious about our commitment to Him, and
- 15:32then he heals us. His Holy Spirit will change our
- 15:37lives. So the last verse said the Lord
- 15:40Almighty will bless them saying blessed be Egypt, my people,
- 15:45Assyria, my handiwork and in Israel my inheritance.
- 15:51So there's there's quite a bit there that is talked about.
- 15:57And let's see we're verse 13 back to Ezekiel chapter 30.
- 16:04This is what the sovereign Lord says.
- 16:06I will destroy the idols, put an end to the images in Memphis.
- 16:11No longer will there be a Prince in Egypt and I will spread fear
- 16:15throughout the land. We kind of know that's going to
- 16:18be Judah, right? Since we just read that.
- 16:24Let's see, I will lay waste Upper Egypt and set fire.
- 16:32Actually, you know, when I just said that about Judah, you know,
- 16:36that could mean literally Jesus because he's from the tribe of
- 16:39Judah. So that is probably more likely
- 16:44what this means. So anyway, no longer will there
- 16:49be a Prince in Egypt, and I will spread fear throughout the land.
- 16:51I will lay waste of Upper Egypt, set fire to Zoen, that's
- 16:56northeast of Cairo, and inflict punishment on Thebes, which is
- 17:01along the Nile. I will pour out my wrath on
- 17:04Pelusium. Again, this is wrath that we're
- 17:07talking about, the stronghold of Egypt.
- 17:10Pelusium is referred to the stronghold of Egypt.
- 17:13And wipe out the hordes of Thebes.
- 17:15I will set fire to Egypt. Pelusium will writhe in agony.
- 17:20Thebes will be taken by storm. Memphis will be in constant
- 17:25distress. The young men of Heliopolis and
- 17:30Bubastus will fall by the sword. So there's, you know, the sword.
- 17:36I guess Jesus arrives also with the sword coming out of his
- 17:39mouth. That's the description that's
- 17:40given. And the cities themselves will
- 17:43go into captivity. Dark will be the day at
- 17:47Tapenesse when I break the yoke. That's kind of like a
- 17:51stronghold, right? Break the yoke of Egypt.
- 17:54There her proud strength will come to an end, she will be
- 17:59covered with clouds, and her villages will go into captivity.
- 18:03So I will inflict punishment on Egypt, and they will know that I
- 18:08am the Lord. In the 11th year, in the first
- 18:13month, on the 7th day, the word of the Lord came to me.
- 18:16Son of Man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
- 18:21It has not been bound up to be healed or put into a splint so
- 18:26that it may become strong enough to hold a sword.
- 18:30Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says.
- 18:33I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt.
- 18:36I will break both his arms, the good arm, as well as the broken
- 18:401 and make the sword fall from his hand.
- 18:44I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter
- 18:48them through the countries. I will strengthen the arms of
- 18:52the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand.
- 18:57But I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan
- 19:02before him like a mortally wounded man.
- 19:05I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the
- 19:08arms of Pharaoh will fall limp. Then they will know that I am
- 19:13the Lord. When I put my sword into the
- 19:15hand of the king of Babylon and he brandishes it against Egypt,
- 19:20I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter
- 19:25them through the countries. Then they will know that I am
- 19:28the Lord. So that's the end of chapter 30.
- 19:31So it sounds like the king of Babylon.
- 19:35It could be a spiritual king. And I, I don't know, you know,
- 19:41but this all sounds like a future.
- 19:44So history often repeats itself and but that the king of Babylon
- 19:52against Egypt, I don't know. It'll be interesting, I guess.
- 19:56Like, I don't know this God has a proxy here where he's going to
- 20:02use Babylon to do that. Again, this could be part of a.
- 20:08Double this is a separate that's what I have to remember from the
- 20:12last time this was a separate word from the Lord.
- 20:15So maybe this was, you know, going back to Ezekiel's time
- 20:20frame it it's not the future because when Pharaoh's arms are
- 20:24broken, that was like in the 11th year, that's when this word
- 20:29came to him. So it's it's kind of out of
- 20:34order because in chapter 29 it talked about the 27th year and
- 20:41then in the beginning of chapter 29 it was talking about the 10th
- 20:44year and it was about judgement on Pharaoh.
- 20:47And then this is in the 11th year.
- 20:48So we have like different time frames that kind of got shuffled
- 20:53around in the book of Ezekiel. So it doesn't necessarily flow,
- 20:58but it in chronological order, I guess is what I'm saying.
- 21:02So part of chapter 30 and we have to realize that these
- 21:06chapters in the Bible were not how it was given.
- 21:08It was, this is how it was assembled and people put
- 21:11chapters on here. So maybe they just gathered all
- 21:15these, I don't know. They didn't put it in order
- 21:17though, for whatever reason. Anyway, I'll read the questions
- 21:21and answers. There's only a few and then end
- 21:23this chapter 30. So who were the people of the
- 21:26covenant land? They were the Jews living in the
- 21:28foreign lands listed here who were not serving the Lord.
- 21:32So that's, you know, the swords coming against them.
- 21:35The people of the covenant land. We talked about that along with
- 21:37Sudan, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Kub, Libya and the people of
- 21:43Egypt, probably they're, you know, actually like even back in
- 21:49Jeremiah's time, he said anybody who fled to Egypt would die by
- 21:52sword. I mean, and that's what wasn't
- 21:55it Zedekiah also who fled two there, but he was captured and
- 22:00then his sons were executed and his eyes were gouged out and
- 22:05then he was led back to Babylon. So yeah, OK.
- 22:10Why would God use the most ruthless to do his work?
- 22:14Because this was a time of judgement.
- 22:17The time for patience and mercy had passed.
- 22:19It was now God's will that wrath should be administered without
- 22:23hesitation or compromise. Was this a promise to literally
- 22:27dry up the waters of the Nile? This was indeed a threat against
- 22:31the livelihood of Egypt. For a city whose trade and
- 22:34economy relied on all the river offers.
- 22:36The drying up of that river cuts the heart of the city's ability
- 22:39to thrive. So the threat here could be
- 22:42literal, namely, the river would dry up, or the threat could be
- 22:46figurative. All that they depended on the
- 22:49river to provide would be taken away from them.
- 22:53Well, I think there's also. Yeah.
- 22:57I don't know. We'll, we'll see what happens.
- 23:00If it's literal or symbolic. Sometimes it's both, too.
- 23:03So was Pharaoh's arm really broken?
- 23:06This is symbolic language. It means that Pharaoh's power
- 23:10was broken. It refers to Pharaoh Hafra's
- 23:13defeat by Nebuchadnezzar the previous year.
- 23:17So this is that section of Ezekiel at verse 20 where it
- 23:21says in the 11th year, and it's referring back to verse chapter
- 23:2829 that starts out in the 10th year.
- 23:32So those things we have to pay attention to because if we read
- 23:36them all together and don't notice when they're being
- 23:38written, it does get even more confusing to try to understand
- 23:42Scripture. What was the sword?
- 23:45The sword of the Lord represents judgment and destruction as well
- 23:50as authority. So that's going to wrap up
- 23:53Chapter 30 and we'll stop here and then continue with a
- 23:58different podcast to cover 31 and 32.
