Latest / The Slippery Slope / Queensland Breach of Bail Laws
Transcript
- 0:04Well Queensland Premier has she stepped up introducing some new
- 0:14old laws and legislation. You know, there's all the talk
- 0:18here in Queensland. Now, is about bail, bail,
- 0:22conditions, breaching bail, we'll go through a couple of
- 0:27different articles. My opinion on this.
- 0:31Probably, I'm not convinced I'm not convinced the bail
- 0:41conditions or breaching of bail laws.
- 0:45Really does a lot. However, I never, I never found.
- 0:49Now keep in mind when I say this.
- 0:53I only dealt with breaching bail offenses.
- 0:58When I was doing general duty, He's so I only did General
- 1:01duties for a certain, you know, certain amount of time, and then
- 1:05after that, I went into surveillance physical physical,
- 1:11it's in the physical surveillance unit.
- 1:13So I'm only talking about my experience when I was in general
- 1:16duties. And that was quite a little
- 1:18while ago, It was over just saying all this.
- 1:23Because looking at what gonna bring this article up.
- 1:26Looking at what the premier wants to do this.
- 1:28This backflip. It's bit.
- 1:33I don't know. It's I think it's a bit of a
- 1:35shame. I'm not, like I said, I'm not
- 1:37convinced. It makes a lot of difference but
- 1:38anyway it's probably the reason a lot of people out there that
- 1:41know a lot better than I do. So this article here from the
- 1:45guardian says Queensland labor, backflips to make breach of Baal
- 1:48and offense for children. So the Queensland government
- 1:52will begin charging children with criminal, offenses, for
- 1:56breaching bail. Conditions and move that
- 1:58Advocates, say will cause a human rights.
- 2:01Emergency in the state's buckling Youth detention system.
- 2:06Look, there might be right. Got to admit that there might be
- 2:10right with this. However, there's got to be
- 2:12something, something has to be done and people want something
- 2:15tangible and they keep looking at how all these people have.
- 2:20Have breached their bail, conditions and their out,
- 2:23committing serious offenses. And people are quite frankly,
- 2:27the just sick of it. Look at the look at the picture
- 2:30they use for our great Premier Anastasia well anyway.
- 2:36It's not flattering anyway. So labor has previously had
- 2:39previously, repeatedly ruled out reintroducing breach of bail as
- 2:44a criminal offense? I personally I didn't think they
- 2:46should have taken it away. Okay.
- 2:48I don't think I think it was brought in and Who's introduced
- 2:51under a Neumann government? I think.
- 2:54Yeah, and these clowns to it away anyway, so arguing, it
- 2:57would not be effective. That's what they've been saying
- 2:59for years. Senior government sources are
- 3:01told Guardian Australia as recently as last week that such
- 3:04a move would not occur, but after calls from the LNP
- 3:08opposition and some anti-crime campaign is the Premier
- 3:12Anastasia Palace Che on Monday. Told reporters the government
- 3:15had listened to the community and would introduce a new
- 3:19offense in the youth. Justice act, we want to work
- 3:23together. She said in the spirit of
- 3:25bipartisanship in the best interest of the people of this
- 3:29state. Isn't it funny?
- 3:30Hearing her talk about the best interest of the people of the
- 3:33state? Or my opinion is she doesn't
- 3:37give a hoot about the people of this state and their best
- 3:39interest. Not a pure outside that
- 3:42Southeastern Corner. Anyway, the impact of the reform
- 3:45is that it gives police an arrest trigger for bailed young
- 3:50offenders on the streets. Current police Powers.
- 3:54Yeah, which I will remind you, they took away in the first
- 3:57place. Current police powers.
- 3:59Only allow people East to arrest juveniles.
- 4:02If they are committing or suspected of committing, an
- 4:05offense, but Community workers and Advocates, say some children
- 4:10on bail. Are on the streets because it is
- 4:12safer than being at home, which look, well, I agree that this
- 4:17may be a legitimate argument because some people some
- 4:21children on the streets because of safer than being at home or
- 4:26elsewhere. I don't think you can make these
- 4:30broad kind of accusations for everyone.
- 4:32There's so many kids out there who just need to be at home, but
- 4:36unfortunately, they are coming from families who just don't
- 4:39really. Can I say that.
- 4:41Don't give a damn, a lot of the parents are just out.
- 4:44They could not kill us. They too busy drinking alcohol
- 4:47drinking or smoking drugs, or just thinking that their
- 4:50children can look after themselves because they're not
- 4:53really parents, they're not actually parents and they're not
- 4:56parenting. So yeah.
- 4:59Okay. It may be may be safer on the
- 5:01streets for some kid but you cannot just make these sweeping
- 5:06Arguments and think that they cover everyone.
- 5:08Anyway. So the light goes on, said the
- 5:10likely increased arrest of young people.
- 5:12Also, heightened, severe, human rights concerns in police.
- 5:16Watch houses. Existing government policies.
- 5:19Making it harder for children to receive bail, have caused the
- 5:24population of young. Prisoners, mostly First Nations
- 5:26children to swell. Yep.
- 5:28Okay. And also Youth detention centers
- 5:31are full and about 80 children are currently being held in
- 5:33adult, watch houses some For more than four weeks.
- 5:37Okay, they're all legitimate arguments.
- 5:39I get it. However, let's you've got to
- 5:43you've also got a look at some of the other things that have
- 5:47happened. Very recently, I bring up a
- 5:50couple of couple of other stories and you tell me and this
- 5:54is why there's been such a strong push from the community
- 5:59when it comes to When it comes to these bio breach of bail
- 6:06conditions and why the why the community has been pushing for
- 6:09this. One of the media has been
- 6:11pushing for this first, looks look at this story.
- 6:14This happened just at the very end of 2022 to chant teenagers
- 6:18charged with murder of women in boxing day, home invasion at
- 6:22North lakes near Brisbane. That's her Emma Louisville and
- 6:28her husband. Remember his name Grant or
- 6:30something like that? You said, two teenage boys have
- 6:33been charged with murder and attempted murder.
- 6:36After a woman was killed at a home in a home in North Brisbane
- 6:41and boxing. They are my Louisville who was
- 6:4241, fatally, stabbed in the chest after allegedly disturbing
- 6:48the offender's inside her, North Lakes home at about 11:30 p.m.
- 6:52her husband Lee. So I really love will 43 was
- 6:54stabbed In the back and you think.
- 6:57Okay, so these were two young ones, young boys who was
- 7:01stabbed, I think there were 17 and then there was another two
- 7:05teenagers who were also police are still questioning the other
- 7:08two teenagers 17 year old and 16 year old.
- 7:12He said police had had a prior contact with all four teenagers
- 7:16involved in this attack. So.
- 7:19Yeah. So that was that happened then.
- 7:21But then you look at what the the history.
- 7:25The history of these kids. And you realize that, like I
- 7:28said, this is part of the reason why It has been such an uproar,
- 7:33this headline here, came from 7 News, the shocking criminal
- 7:36history of boys, accused of murdering North, Lakes mum, and
- 7:39my Louisville. So this shocking criminal
- 7:42history of the two teens accused of murdering Queensland mum and
- 7:45a home invasion can be revealed as social media post.
- 7:50Highlight their Brazen Antics is part of a gang partaking in Joy
- 7:54rides and stolen cars. The two teams had their matters
- 7:57heard in Brisbane. Children's court on Wednesday.
- 7:59I've been charged with them. Murder and attempted murder.
- 8:04They can't be named, but seven years understands.
- 8:07One of the boys was responsible for the stabbing of a man in his
- 8:11Saint Lucia home in Brisbane. Last year.
- 8:16The then 15 year old was charged with attempted murder was
- 8:19sentenced. And has since been released from
- 8:21custody attempted murder released.
- 8:24From custody, is also understood one of the boys was arrested on
- 8:28Christmas Eve this year. Sorry that was the 2022 and
- 8:34charged with multiple offenses. He was released on bail, despite
- 8:38police objections on boxing day hours before he allegedly
- 8:42stabbed Emma, Louisville to death, just hours earlier
- 8:45released on bail. Like I said, this is part of the
- 8:49reason why we've had such big outcry, and if you think none
- 8:53I'm just exaggerating things. Well, then I'm going to get a
- 8:56One More Story which this story cause such a huge outcry when it
- 9:00happened. And people were just horrified,
- 9:05okay, and it was it was so unnecessary and it could have
- 9:11been prevented so easily accept again.
- 9:16The person who committed this, offense was out on bail at the
- 9:20time on bail for a very other for other similar offenses
- 9:26anyway and you'll know soon as you see this come up, you'll
- 9:29know what I'm talking about. Obviously it's the couple that
- 9:31were mowed down in Stafford by a person who was out on bail
- 9:36conditions. So this article here says
- 9:38Queensland, Premier demands answers and why Alexandra Hills
- 9:42crash teen was out on bail so I said, stop it Alexandria.
- 9:48So yeah, Anastasia Peltier wants answers like everyone else.
- 9:52She says as to why 17 year old was on bail before steadily a
- 9:56stick. A deadly crash that killed a
- 9:58young couple so if you remember the story the young couple she
- 10:02was actually pregnant they were out I think walking the dog you
- 10:07know just Lovely young, couple newly married.
- 10:10I think it was, you know, minding their own business, you
- 10:15know, the premier gets on there with her concerned.
- 10:17Look, she wants answers. She's part of the problem.
- 10:21The government is part of the problem, that's the issue.
- 10:24So tens of thousands of people have signed a petition to the
- 10:26Queensland government wanting laws around.
- 10:28Reoffending juveniles tightened. After an expectant, couple
- 10:32killed in. Brisbane was catered Ledbetter
- 10:35sturdy. One Maddie field.
- 10:37Whose 37 were hit by an Allegedly stolen four wheel
- 10:41drive in Alexander Hills on Tuesday, the seventeen-year-old,
- 10:44alleged drive from Waterford West in Logan.
- 10:48Who was on bail at the time. Is now facing murder charges.
- 10:52He was remanded in custody on Wednesday.
- 10:56Okay. I'm not going to go into, you
- 10:58probably remember the story but this is why we've had such a
- 11:01huge outcry. We've had people Killed
- 11:05senselessly killed by these juveniles who should have still
- 11:09been. They should have been held in
- 11:11her mind. He should still have been in
- 11:14jail except and, you know, we can sayaka we have all these
- 11:18breach of bile conditions. Personally, I don't think the
- 11:23breach of bile will be much of a much of an incentive for these
- 11:29young offenders, not to continue their criminal activities.
- 11:35The ones that I meant, they just don't seem to really care.
- 11:38They just don't seem to care. They don't give a dang about
- 11:43their families. That got no family life.
- 11:45They've got no real support system.
- 11:48They just, they don't care about anyone other than themselves.
- 11:52That's the ones just ones that I met, I'd, that I can recall when
- 11:56I was in GDs. And I don't think it's, I don't
- 12:00think the breach of bail. Offense.
- 12:04I don't think it's going to stop or prevent anyone because
- 12:07they're not. I've said they just don't care
- 12:08about. It's just another offense.
- 12:12My opinion is that. These people shouldn't have been
- 12:14allowed out in the first place. What we saw one of them It's
- 12:21hard to wrap your head around charged with attempted murder,
- 12:25okay? He was 15 at the time.
- 12:27If you're 15 and you have attempted to murder someone.
- 12:32Sorry you you little dumb head should be sitting in jail for
- 12:39the next 20 years. You don't get out.
- 12:44This all comes back to, it's not, it's not the police, the
- 12:47police, they they argue they get frustrated when they see these
- 12:51young offenders, these violent young offenders.
- 12:55Get released, this comes back, it comes back to the law.
- 12:59It comes back to our magistrates and our judges.
- 13:02That's where I end and our governments.
- 13:06And politicians who and, and all these Advocates, that go up and
- 13:12say, okay, there are some people, like I said, it's a
- 13:15legitimate argument. Some of these children, you
- 13:18know, they come from, broken, homes, bad situations.
- 13:21But if you've got someone 15 year old who's out there and
- 13:25already attempting to murder, someone You know, you don't just
- 13:29allow them out. You keep them locked up, you you
- 13:35make sure you throw the book at them.
- 13:37You can't just keep making excuses.
- 13:41And we need to be looking at where our magistrates and their
- 13:44judges come to some of these decisions where they just allow
- 13:48these young offenders out purely because they are young, just
- 13:52because you are, young does not mean.
- 13:56That you cannot be a vindictive demonic evil.
- 14:03Little Thug. It doesn't doesn't mean you're
- 14:08innocent, just because you're young, you can be just as evil.
- 14:16Just as full of hate as any 30 year old.
- 14:22It all comes back. To the politicians, to all these
- 14:27people that want to stand up and say, no.
- 14:29No, we can't we can't hold these young children in custody while
- 14:34their families aren't doing the jobs, okay?
- 14:36Their parents aren't doing job, trying to lay the blame and say,
- 14:39well, you know, and I hear people talk about old, we should
- 14:42be making parents pay for the damages that these children
- 14:45calls. Cause you only think like that.
- 14:48If you come from a family where you actually care When you come
- 14:52from families, you don't give it.
- 14:55Don't give a hoot and they don't make money and the money that
- 14:58they do. Make a lot of the time 99% of
- 15:00the time is going to be the taxpayer taxpayer-funded money
- 15:04anyway. So it's just like us, you know,
- 15:07I pay taxes, I don't want to be, you know, they just giving it
- 15:10back to the government with the money they get for free.
- 15:14You this comes back, this is on the government.
- 15:18This is on Peltier. She shouldn't have got rid of
- 15:22the big breach of bail anyway in the first place.
- 15:25But this comes back to her judges and magistrates the
- 15:29lawmakers They have a lot to answer for.
- 15:35Please let me know what you think.
- 15:36I know there's a, there's a few X coppers or current coppers out
- 15:39there. Who listen, let me know what you
- 15:41think because like I said, I'd generally, I generally didn't
- 15:47breach of bail all this kind of thing.
- 15:49I didn't have to deal with it. Once I left g d's, and that was
- 15:52a long time ago. Let me know what you think.
- 15:55Will it make any difference bringing in the breach of Baal?
- 15:59Offenses again, love to know your thoughts.
- 16:03I don't think it'll make a difference.
- 16:04I think You just be held in Rome and it shouldn't be released
- 16:08your you committed violent crime.
- 16:11That's it. You're staying, you're staying
- 16:14in jail until your court date and then if you're guilty, you
- 16:18don't get some pathetic sentence.
- 16:21You get you get the maximum maybe if you get the maximum
- 16:25every time, Maybe that would help people or you know, prevent
- 16:32people from reoffending. That's my opinion.
- 16:36Let me know what you think. Thank you for listening to the
- 16:39slippery slope. Maybe that would help people or
- 16:31you know, prevent people from reoffending.
- 16:35That's my opinion. Let me know what you think.
- 16:37Thank you for listening to the slippery slope.
