Latest / The Uncensored Catholic / Show 66: The heresy of "once saved always saved"
Transcript
- 1:00Hey, y'all, welcome today's show. Hopefully the audio will be a little
- 1:03bit better than yesterday, and a few issues with the microphone. Yesterday it
- 1:10seemed to be picking up background noises like every time I would shift in my
- 1:15leather chair rather rather than the clarity of my words. But let's just jump
- 1:22right in. Today is going to be an interesting show, probably gonna cover
- 1:26a lot of ground. Did a gospel reflection from Mizzy of Day today and
- 1:34we got into what I would call the heresy of once Saved, always Saved.
- 1:40That is actually a doctrinal tenet of most mainline Protestantism these days that has
- 1:51unfortunately infected many Catholics in their belief. We'll get into that it is a
- 1:57true heresy, it's not biblical, it goes against the teaching of Christ,
- 2:01and it's incredibly dangerous. It's really one of the most dangerous false teachings in
- 2:12Christianity today. But first of all, will start with the questions and answers
- 2:16from radio replies, as we usually do. The questioner asked the priests or
- 2:25actually posits I guess you would say, he asserts the giving up of religion
- 2:31has made no change in me. For good or evil, for sorrow or
- 2:36happiness. They answer, if you ever had a religion and it did not
- 2:39have any influence upon you, then you would not have experience any change in
- 2:46being without it, I should say, in being without it, you would
- 2:50perceive a difference in favor of the goodness and happiness. If you became a
- 2:53really practical Catholic, you would then know the peace of Christ, the peace
- 2:59the world can not give. And that is absolutely true. It's hard,
- 3:08you know. I meet so many people who say they're atheists or they're agnostics,
- 3:13so they're just they vaguely believe in Christianity, but they're not practicing.
- 3:16And I tell them, look, this is what it's done for me,
- 3:22and they can't understand because they haven't experienced it. And I'm not sure how
- 3:27to breach the experiential divide. But there are many things we can't understand until
- 3:38we've experienced them. Could you tell someone's water, tell someone that water is
- 3:42wet, had they never touched water. Could you explain the beauty of a
- 3:47sunset if someone had never seen a sunset. I don't know, I don't
- 3:55know. I struggle with that anyway. The person and says the laws of
- 4:00nature regulate all, and I worship only at her altar. While book written
- 4:05in what nineteen forty? And that's the neopagan culture of the New Age movement
- 4:16today. So remember there's nothing new under the sun. They answer the laws
- 4:23that they answer. Laws don't float around without a lawgiver. If nature has
- 4:29laws, they have been imposed by a lawgiver. All legislation supposes a legislator,
- 4:35and who authorizes you to specify that particular form of religion. Surely the
- 4:41one who is to be worshiped has the right to specify how he shall be
- 4:44worshiped. Remember, as Christians, we believe in a revealed religion. The
- 4:50person goes on, you say that religion is necessary. I say that it
- 4:54is positively evil and degrading. It restrains our freedoms. Is that not the
- 5:00liberal credo? Is that not everything that the progressive movement teaches? They answer,
- 5:10Since religion spells freedom, freedom from vice, from all injustice and one
- 5:15of charity. There is absolute freedom. You must be free from vice and
- 5:19subject to virtue, or free from virtue and subject to vice. And that
- 5:27is what we see in our culture today. We have our culture America,
- 5:31our society and Western Europe, Canada, etc. You know, most of
- 5:39South America as well, that has trended towards socialism and away from Christianity has
- 5:45absolutely become subject to vice. Remember a hundred thousand people died of overdoses on
- 5:51finnale last year. One hundred thousand people. That we're here in two thousand
- 6:00twenty three, interacting with us, productive members of society, perhaps loved by
- 6:05people, loving people, they're gone. Another more than fifty thousand people committed
- 6:15suicide last year. Think about that. Think about what's the largest city in
- 6:24your me where I'm sitting right now, I'm not home. It would probably
- 6:26be Fayetteville, North Carolina. I guess it's a town of about a quarter
- 6:33million people, including the military. You know, it's a big military town.
- 6:42Certainly around it. The largest cities are far smaller. I think of
- 6:46Lumberton, North Carolina, which is about twenty thousand people, including the outlying
- 6:50areas a few quaver arena much smaller. I think. I would say Row,
- 7:00the state capital of North Carolina, would probably have a population of And
- 7:11again this is including some bedroom communities, not just the metro area. Most
- 7:15people don't live in Raleigh, they work in Raleigh, just like most capitals
- 7:18of around one hundred, one hundred and fifty thousand people. And imagine they're
- 7:25all dead, They're all gone. That's that's the equivalent of a regular nuclear
- 7:35bomb dropped on a city. I mean, what would happen, you know,
- 7:40if Russia or North Korea shot a missile at a normal sized, average
- 7:46sized city in America and killed one hundred and fifty thousand people. We lost
- 7:50three thousand, nine to eleven. It broke my heart. It changed the
- 7:55world as we knew it. We lost about, as you know, a
- 8:01few more than that. Well, I shouldn't say a few. I don't
- 8:05want to minimize anything of soldiers in the war following. We lost fifty thousand
- 8:11young men in Vietnam. And think of all the protests against the Vietnam War.
- 8:22A hundred and fifty thousand people died last year due to fentanyl. We're
- 8:31suicide. There's no outrage, No one seems very concerned about it whatsoever.
- 8:39Add to that all those who died from violent crimes. That's what happens in
- 8:52a society that walks away from Christianity, from Christian morals and doctrine. The
- 9:00man who is not ruled by a virtue will be ruled by vice, and
- 9:07vice being sinned the wages of sin or death. Most of those people who
- 9:11died of finnyl probably died accidentally. They didn't want to overdose, but no
- 9:18one is. Our government is certainly not doing anything to stem the foe of
- 9:24Finnel across our southern border. If anything, they're encouraging it. The liberal
- 9:31communities are facilitating drug addiction, whether directly by giving them the equipment to do
- 9:39so or just allowing homelessness, subsidizing addiction through various welfare programs, and then
- 9:46the suicides. The suicides often among young people that have no hope because secularism
- 9:58is hopeless and that's what they're taught in school. It's not the promises of
- 10:11liberalism, the promises of secularism, the so called freedom they offer, always
- 10:20ends in despair, hopelessness, violence, and death. And that has been
- 10:28true in every culture in which has been promoted. Don't believe me, go
- 10:33back and look at a pre World War two Germany. Pre World War two
- 10:39Germany embraced homosexuality, pornography, sato masochism, you know, the first country
- 10:52to break away from Catholicism. The Lutheran nation very quickly, within just you
- 11:00know, a few generations became godless, began to worship science and so called
- 11:09psychology, so called science of psychology, which is nothing but a secular ideology
- 11:16in government bureaucracy, and very quickly degenerated into hell on Earth and then spread
- 11:26that hell to the rest of the world. In World War Two, the
- 11:31ideology of progressivism or socialism, or the Masonic Order or whatever you want to
- 11:39call it, was very much driving that they called humanism. They were humanists,
- 11:46and they did not recognize the Church, tradition or God. And you
- 11:56know, they said certain people just deserve to live and other people should be
- 12:01exterminated, so they didn't continue polluting the gene pool. Very same thing here
- 12:05happened right here in America, our leaders Woodrow Wilson, Franklin, Delano Roosevelt,
- 12:15Margaret Sanger. Oh, I could go on, I could George Bernard
- 12:20Shaw, who I think was the first person to publicly advance the idea of
- 12:28gas chambers to rid the earth of the undesirables. They began to worship a
- 12:37perfected idea of the human race, which would be essentially English and German.
- 12:46Get rid of all the Catholics, get rid of all the Jews, you
- 12:50know, get rid of all the Gypsies, get rid of all the undesires
- 12:52of black folk, get rid of all the Blacks and Mexicans, any people
- 12:56of color. They wanted this pure secular, essentially atheistic at least agnostic,
- 13:09obsessed with the politically political ideology race of people. And it led to hundreds
- 13:18of millions of deaths through the world wars, through the Holocaust, through communism,
- 13:24through abortion, and it's playing out right now in America where feral children
- 13:35essentially left to their own devices without parents, raised by the state, pumped
- 13:41full of psychiatric drugs. Are you know, in control now? Honestly,
- 13:50I mean it's not the school shoot or if he lives beyond that age and
- 13:52doesn't commit it a mass atrocity, becomes a bureaucrat and or a school teacher.
- 14:00And yeah, they are absolutely living out the natural consequences of the ideology
- 14:11that rejects God. And it began with Martin Luther and the rejection of the
- 14:18Catholic Church. And it goes on for a while and a Christian culture with
- 14:24inherited values and eventually degenerates into the worst atrocities one can possibly imagine. Well,
- 14:35moving on to the main topic of today, my article from Mezio day
- 14:41E discusses the idea promoted by the Protestant churches. Once saved, always saved.
- 14:50This is essentially necessary to Protestant ideology, that or doctrine, I guess
- 14:56I should say that rejects confession, rejects purgatory. The Protestants teach that once
- 15:07you're saved, no matter what sinds you commit, you're still going to Heaven.
- 15:11Well, the Bible doesn't say that. Jesus certainly didn't say that,
- 15:15and what inspired it was today's gospel. Jesus said to his disciples, stay
- 15:18awake, for you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
- 15:22Be sure of this. The master of the house, had he known the
- 15:24hour when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let
- 15:28his house be broken into. So too, you must also be prepared for
- 15:33at the hour to you do not expect the son of man will come,
- 15:39who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the Master is put in
- 15:43charge of his household, to distribute to them their food at the proper time.
- 15:46Blessed is that servant whom his master, on his arrival finds doing so.
- 15:50Amen, I say to you, he would be put in charge of
- 15:54all his property. But if that wicked servant says to himself, my master
- 15:58is long delayed, and begins to beat his fellow servants and eat and drink
- 16:03with drunkards, the servants master will come on an unexpected day, at an
- 16:08unknown hour, and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the
- 16:14hypocrites, and there will be wailing, a gnashing of teeth. You know
- 16:22when I say that this is a heresy, well, a heresy is anything
- 16:27taught as being Christian doctrine that is opposed to Christian doctrine. This is actually
- 16:33the one Saved, always Saved doctrine is in absolute opposition of the words of
- 16:38Jesus Christ and certainly the teachings of the Catholic Church. It's a cornerstone of
- 16:45modern Protestantism, the idea that one is saved for all attorney. Know that
- 16:52once one is saved. You know, we'll get into it, you know,
- 16:56the Protestant formula, I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior.
- 17:03Okay, it's a great start. But that's not all God ask of
- 17:07you. But they say, once you do that, no sin, no
- 17:11matter how grave, can change the Christians eternal destiny for all, eternal destiny
- 17:18for heaven of heaven. I mean, given that that's not what the Bible
- 17:25actually says. And Protestants claim to believe in the Bible alone as the sole
- 17:29authority. They have no basis for this belief. Obviously it's not what the
- 17:33Catholic Church teaches. But you know, many Catholics may not formally believe in
- 17:38the once saved, always saved heresy, but are guilty of the sin of
- 17:44presumption. How many times have you heard someone say God will understand. God's
- 17:48not legalistic? Boy? How many times have I heard that God, the
- 17:52law giver is supposedly not legalistic? Okay, But one of the worst as
- 18:00the presumption is saying I'll have time to set things right before I die.
- 18:04Jesus said, just said, you don't know the hour, you know.
- 18:08And another passage, the wealthy man had had stored up all, you know,
- 18:18he'd had a great harvest, he stored up a lot, and he
- 18:21said, I'm good now, you know, I don't have to work anymore.
- 18:22And Jesus says you fool. Your very life will be required of you
- 18:26this night. The same Jesus who said call no man a fool, right,
- 18:30says you fool, Your very life will be required of you tonight.
- 18:37I could die while doing this podcast. Literally, I could have a stroke
- 18:40and just drop dead while doing this podcast. I don't know what day I'm
- 18:42going to die. I might live to be a you know, one hundred
- 18:45and plus years old, like my great grandfather ninety in my late nineties,
- 18:51like my other great grandfather, or like my grandfather who was exposed to agricultural
- 18:56chemicals and industrial chemicals die in my seventies, or like my uncle about fifty
- 19:04massive stroke. I don't know what do I know? I have no idea.
- 19:10I could be hit by a bus, struck by lightning. I don't
- 19:12know. Neither do you. Neither does anyone. And the sin of presumption
- 19:18is to say, well, before I die, I'll reconcile with the church,
- 19:21I'll go to confession. Get it right. No, no, you
- 19:23got to do it today because there may not be a tomorrow. And essentially
- 19:29that's the same presumption of the once saved, always saved heresy. I know
- 19:36it's it's it's a little different, but it comes down to the same motive,
- 19:41the same idea that there's always going to be a tomorrow and God in
- 19:45his mercy will overlook whatever I do. Well, it's not actually true,
- 19:49not actually true at all. In my book Confirmation, Autobiography of Faith,
- 19:56I give the story of really my first formal introduction to this doctrine. Now
- 20:00you know, I was raised Protestant, but until I went to a certain
- 20:04Southern Baptist university, I was not taught taught the full doctrine of the Baptist
- 20:15denomination, which is essentially identical to Methodist and Presbyterian and Lutheran, etc.
- 20:23And this is very much part of it. So this is I'm going to
- 20:26read you an excerpt from my book The Next Confounding Doctrine, and there had
- 20:30been more before then. If you want to read them, please buy my
- 20:33book. It's sold all of like three copies. It's been like I think
- 20:37it's like the most important book I've ever written, and like nobody's bought it.
- 20:41So look, if you listen to this podcast, if you can afford
- 20:45to go to Amazon and buy my book, I really appreciate it. If
- 20:48you can't, that's I understand. If you want the e book the PDF,
- 20:55just buy it off my website, you know, Justincarell dot com or
- 21:00Southern Appalachian or that's actually easy. It's just go to the blog Southern Appalachian
- 21:03Herbs dot blogspot dot com. Okay, I'm a herbalist, that's what I
- 21:08do. So that's like my main site. If you don't want to,
- 21:11just email me Jutson at Jutsoncarroll dot com. I'll send you the link and
- 21:15I'll give it to you for half price. And if you you know,
- 21:18if you can't even afford that, you know, nine ninety nine, which
- 21:22I understand. You know, money's type these days for a lot of people,
- 21:27you know, pass my podcast on, recommend somebody share it with your
- 21:32friends. That will help me a lot. And maybe it's one of them
- 21:36would like to buy my book. But you know, I do think it's
- 21:41a worthwhile book. I put a lot into it, and the only way
- 21:45it's going to have any influence on anybody said people buy it. So if
- 21:48you can go to Amazon or if you want to get it directly from me,
- 21:51It's called Confirmation Autobiography of Faith. And I've literally like sold about three
- 21:56copies since April is not penned a best seller. I mean, no one's
- 22:02even read it to even know if they like it or not. It's kind
- 22:04of a little bit frustrating. You know. I'm reaching I mean over well,
- 22:11probably about two thousand or plus people a week through various Catholic websites,
- 22:18and they're not buying my book. So you know, if you don't help
- 22:23me out in that regard, it's not going to have the effect I intended,
- 22:27which is to help people become converts to Catholicism or for Catholics to defend
- 22:33their beliefs their faith. If it just sits around the shelf, it's not
- 22:38doing any of us any good. But I'm not going to belabor that point.
- 22:42Just if you can, please buy my book. I really appreciate it,
- 22:45and I'm not helping anybody if nobody reads my book. But anyway,
- 22:49this passage from the book, I said. The next confounding doctrine to which
- 22:55I was introduced were the twin tenants of certain Protestant denomination, actually most Protestant
- 23:02denominations. Yeah, it's a mainline. These are mainline beliefs. The first
- 23:07is that all sins are equal and the second is that once saved, always
- 23:11saved. And of course, as Catholics, we believe in both mortal and
- 23:15venial sins. As the Bible teaches, there are certain sins that lead to
- 23:19death. Whether its are mortal sins, there are other venial sins which aren't
- 23:25as serious. Once saved, always saved. It's not biblical at all.
- 23:32Well, neither is all sins are equal. But I mean, you can't
- 23:33make any argument from the Bible to support either of these. Really, not
- 23:38only these beliefs not support in the Bible at all, but in truth,
- 23:41no one actually believes them. Okay, this was kind of surprising to me.
- 23:45We were being taught a doctrine that the teachers themselves didn't even believe.
- 23:52I'll get into that. I mean it was serious. I've been paying like
- 23:56fifty thousand dollars a semester to go to a supposed universe very and I'm being
- 24:00taught something that the teachers themselves didn't even believe. Yeah, seriously, before
- 24:08you think about sending your kids to a religious school, you might want to
- 24:14look at what they're teaching. Because probably the most prominent and premier or Southern
- 24:18Baptist university in the United States is a complete and utter joke. I've learned
- 24:25that the hard way, and it cost me a lot of money. But
- 24:29anyway, they were taught, and we were told we had to accept them,
- 24:37but even the professors themselves admitted they could not accept them. It's true.
- 24:41It is idiotic to believe that if a kid steals a pack of GOM
- 24:44from a gas station at the age of eleven, his sin is equal to
- 24:47a mature man who rapes and kills thirty women and then engages in a gun
- 24:52battle with the police, killing several officers. Obviously, the kid does not
- 24:57incur as much sin in stealing a pack a fifty cent pack of I don't
- 25:03even know what Wrigley Spearman gum as a multiple murderer and very evil serial killer.
- 25:11Right, Yeah, anybody could admit that. Right. But this is
- 25:15a major tenet of the Southern Baptists belief and rejecting Catholic teaching of mortal sin.
- 25:19They embrace an untenable position. When confronted, they say, man may
- 25:25judge sin differently, but God sees all sin is equal. I answered,
- 25:30didn't Jesus say that there was an unforgivable sin? Didn't he say to blaspheme
- 25:34the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven. Didn't he also say it would be
- 25:38better for Judas had he never been born, indicating that he would not be
- 25:41forgiven for the sin of a trained Jesus. Wouldn't that prove that some sins
- 25:48are worse than others? Wouldn't the Ten Commandments listing certain specific sins is particularly
- 25:53offensive to God imply that sins such as idolatry, murder, theft, and
- 25:59adults we are considered more serious to God than matters of violating dietary laws,
- 26:03such as were detailed in Leviticus. In answer to that question, I was
- 26:08told God forgives all sins. Therefore all sins are equal in the eyes of
- 26:12God. God is not legalistic. I replied that God, in his benevolence
- 26:18and great love for man, can and will forgive all sins. Does not
- 26:22prove that all sin is equal, especially when God himself said otherwise. Several
- 26:27Old Testament books lists the penalty for certain sins as death. The Old Testament
- 26:33proves that God does have a stated law, and, while perhaps not legalistic
- 26:37in human terms, violations of that law has specific penalties. Well. No
- 26:42answer was given to me other than that that's what we believe, and that's
- 26:48not a logical answer. So I opened my Bible and read to them.
- 26:52I was literally sitting in class with a Bible, and I said, Matthew
- 26:56twelve thirty one through thirty two. And so I tell you every human sin
- 27:00and blasphemy will be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
- 27:04And anyone who says a word against the son of Man will be forgiven,
- 27:07but one who speaks against the Holy Spirit will be forgiven. Will not
- 27:11be forgiven, either in this world or the next. Luke twelve ten.
- 27:18Everyone who says a word against the son of Man will be forgiven, but
- 27:22no one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will be forgiven. John chapter five,
- 27:27sixteen through seventeen. If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that is
- 27:32not a deadly sin, hey, a mortal sin. Novel concept, right,
- 27:37It's in the Bible anyway, He says, if anyone sees his brother
- 27:41commit a sin that is not a deadly sin, he has only to pray
- 27:45to God, and God will give life to this brother, provided that is
- 27:48not a deadly sin. But there is sin that leads to death, and
- 27:52I am not saying you must pray about that. Every kind of wickedness is
- 27:56sin, but not all sin leads to death. In other words, when
- 28:02you commit a moral sin, simply saying a prayer and asking God to forgive
- 28:04you isn't enough. God actually gave us a vehicle for that. It's called
- 28:08the sacrament of confession. And in the Gospel of John he said, those
- 28:12who sends you forgive, they are forgiven, and those who sends you retain,
- 28:15they are retained. Protestants deny that, and therefore they have to pretend
- 28:22that all sins are equal. Well, I was answered with always silence,
- 28:27as for once saved, always saved. This one is a direct result of
- 28:33the Protestant belief in faith alone and a rejection of Catholic teaching on confession penance.
- 28:38Southern Baptists teach that wants a person accepts, and the sin quotes accepts
- 28:42Jesus Christ's personal savior, saying a prayer a belief that is all that is
- 28:48necessary for salvation. Although although the Baptist denomination was founded obviously upon the sacrament
- 28:53of Baptism, many Baptists now believe that Baptism is near. Merely somebody believe
- 29:00for faith exception, acceptance of Jesus's Lord, they say, is all that
- 29:07is necessary. I asked, quite naturally. So if a person believes in
- 29:11Jesus and praise the prayer, Reverend Billy Graham always advised. For instance,
- 29:15he always said, Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and savior.
- 29:18Or you know I have sinned, please forgive me, etc. He can
- 29:25then afterwards renounce his faith, rob a bank, kill people the next day,
- 29:29and still go to heaven without any effort of repentance or even being sorry
- 29:33for his sins and crimes. Yes, I was told once saved, always
- 29:37saved, but a true Christian would not do that. I always loved when
- 29:40they said a real, real Christian wouldn't do that. Okay, I hope.
- 29:44In my Bible, Saint Paul said in Romans chapter seven, we are
- 29:48well aware that the law is spiritual. But I am a creature of flesh
- 29:51and blood, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand my
- 29:55own behavior. I do not act as I'm mean to, but I do
- 29:57the things I hate. While I'm acting as I do not want to.
- 30:02I still acknowledge the law is good. So it is not my self acting,
- 30:04but the sin which lives within me. And really I know of nothing
- 30:08good living in me and my natural self. That is for tho. For
- 30:14though the will to do what is good is in me, the power to
- 30:18do it is not the good thing I want to do. I never do
- 30:22the evil thing which I do not want to do. That is what I
- 30:23do. But every time I do what I do not want to, then
- 30:27it is not my self acting, but the sin that lives within me.
- 30:30So I find this rule that for me, where I want to do nothing
- 30:34but good, evil is closest at my side, in my inmo self.
- 30:37I dearly love God's law, but I see that acting on my body.
- 30:42There is a different law which batters against, which battles against the law in
- 30:47my mind. So I am brought to be a prisoner of that law of
- 30:49sin which lives within my body. So I said, so, now you
- 30:55just taught me yesterday that all sin is equal. So by your doctrine,
- 30:57whatever sin tempted Saint Paul, which he never said what it was, even
- 31:03if he did not act on it. Because Jesus said that a man who
- 31:04lusted in his heart for a woman who was not. His wife was guilty
- 31:08of adultery. Whatever he did was just as bad as a bank robber or
- 31:12a murderer. Was Saint Paul a true Christian? Well, the professor actually
- 31:18answered me, we don't believe in saints. Okay, okay, I answered,
- 31:23oh right, Well, Saint Paul addressed his letters, which make up
- 31:26a large portion of the New Testament, to the saints at various churches,
- 31:30but we'll set that aside. He also wrote in Philippians chapter two, So,
- 31:34my dear friends, you have always been obedient. Your obedience must not
- 31:37be limited to the times when I am present. Now that I am absent,
- 31:41it must be even more evidence. So work out your salvation in fear
- 31:45and trembling. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the day of
- 31:48Christ, for it will not be for nothing that I have run the race
- 31:52and toiled so hard. Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured
- 31:56out as a libation of your sacrifice and the offering of your faith, then
- 32:00I shall be glad and join in rejoicing. And he went on saying,
- 32:05in Collossions, you were once estranged and of hostile and tent through your evil
- 32:09behavior. Now he has reconciled you by his death, and that mortal body
- 32:15to bring you before himself wholly faultless, irreproachable, as long as you persevere
- 32:21and stand firm on the solid base of faith, never letting yourself drift away
- 32:24from the hope promised by the Gospel which you have heard, which has been
- 32:29priests to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have
- 32:32become a servant. It makes me happy to be suffering for you now and
- 32:37in my own body, to make up all the hardships that still have to
- 32:40be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body the Church. Now,
- 32:45I ask, if salvation cannot be lost, and it is given in full
- 32:51merely food, belief, and possibly the profession of faith, how can we
- 32:54understand Saint Paul's words? Why should the Christians be obedient? Why does he
- 33:00warn them to persevere and stand firm of what good is his own personal suffering?
- 33:06Most Protestant Bibles translate this verse as Paul saying, filling up what is
- 33:10lacking in the sacrificial sufferings of Christ. How can this be? Why should
- 33:16Saint Paul worry about how he should finish the race? If the reward is
- 33:21the same for all, and he could not lose the prize of salvation.
- 33:24It would seem to me by his plain words, as Saint Paul believed,
- 33:29he had to complete in himself and in the mission of salvation, and in
- 33:32his mission the salvation offered by Christ through constant repentance and effort. After all,
- 33:38Martin Luther changed the very words of Jesus to say faith alone, as
- 33:43opposed to faith and works, whereas the Bible elsewhere states that faith without works
- 33:49is dead, even in the King James version. And Jesus told us unless
- 33:52we ate of his flesh and drink of his blood, we have no life
- 33:55in us. Do you disagree with the words of our Lord? And what
- 34:00if the passage that states if a man will not listen to the church,
- 34:06if a man will not listen to the church, let him be under you
- 34:08as a pagan, give him over to the devil. If he would not
- 34:12accept the authority of the church, presumably such a man's a Christian, or
- 34:15else he would not be under the authority of the church. Presumably he had
- 34:20believed, professed faith, and been baptized. How can one saved always say
- 34:24be valid if the Bible says otherwise. The answer, by a man who
- 34:31had graduate degrees in theology and who was a minister, was I do not
- 34:36know. I believe that our doctrine is true and it agrees with the Bible.
- 34:40I had not claim to understand everything in the Bible. Well, y'all
- 34:47know me by now. I can be a little sharp in my tongue,
- 34:52and I had to choke back what would have been a snide comment. You
- 34:55know, that would have been what I wanted to say. I thought the
- 34:59Holy Spirit was sup to guide you at all understanding of the Bible. But
- 35:01I didn't say it. I bit my tongue for once, but I did.
- 35:06Let's slip out the obvious question. If you do not understand the Bible,
- 35:09and those who taught you did not understand the Bible enough to explain such
- 35:14passages to you, how do you know that any Baptist, even the authors
- 35:17of the doctrine and founders of the denomination, had any better understanding of the
- 35:22Bible. He didn't answer. Yeah, it was cold silence. Actually,
- 35:30no one spoke to me for days after that. Weeks after that very beautiful
- 35:37girl who would just agreed to go out with me stopped talking to me,
- 35:40and yeah, she was really beautiful. Anyway, a little while later he
- 35:47called me aside privately after he dismissed the class, and he was really honest,
- 35:52and I respect him for this. He said, look, I don't
- 35:55have the answers you're looking for. Perhaps doctor so and and doctor so and
- 36:00so there were heads of departments could help. I realized that he was being
- 36:06honest with me and trying to help. I mean, he know, he
- 36:08realized I had questions that he couldn't answer, and it was really upsetting him
- 36:13that he had never had those questions and didn't have those answers. And then
- 36:17he said something that really troubled me more than anything I'd heard. He looked
- 36:23at me and said, very honestly and calmly, I have a wife and
- 36:27three daughters, and I can't afford to lose my job. By this admission,
- 36:32I realized that he was asking me to stop asking him such questions before
- 36:37the class. I thanked him for taking the time to talk with me.
- 36:42I shook his hand, and I did not trouble him any further. Well,
- 36:47I mean, you can see how logic and knowledge of the Bible kept
- 36:51getting me into trouble. Eventually, I had no choice but to suffer the
- 36:55rejection of my friends and much of my family in converting Catholicism. I certainly
- 37:05do not regret it. I do not doubt the faith and earnestness of many
- 37:09Protestants who embrace these errors. Their error may be forgiven due to their ignorance,
- 37:15refusing to consider in refusing to consider Catholic doctrine as valid. They just
- 37:21blanketly believe anything the Catholics believe is wrong, and they don't question. They
- 37:27never even know. They're taught Catholics aren't allowed to read the Bible, which
- 37:31is false on its face. We all know it's faults, but they believe
- 37:36it. They never even ask if they know a Catholic. They say,
- 37:38do you read the Bible? Nope, They don't ever ask that. They
- 37:42just assume that the Catholic knows nothing about the Bible and isn't allowed to read
- 37:45the Bible, And they oftentimes have an arrogance, Oh wow, would I
- 37:53put it? They kind of snicker and look down on you because they think
- 37:55they know everything, and if you ever question them, they get really angry,
- 38:02really angry, because it just undermines everything They believe. It makes him
- 38:09question not only their own understanding or authority or whatever you want to say,
- 38:16but their parents and their grandparents are the same denomination. It literally undermines their
- 38:23very identity. And that's why, I mean, they just sometimes you will
- 38:30meet a Protestant that will talk and you find common ground and they don't have
- 38:32a real anti Catholic bias. Those who have a real anti Catholic prejudice will
- 38:38fly into a rage when you explain to them that what they believe doesn't agree
- 38:45with the Bible and what they believe about Catholics is patently false. I mean,
- 38:52they can get violent. Seriously. I mean, you'll talk if someone
- 38:55will be telling you about the love of God and everything, and suddenly they're
- 39:00in your face, ready to kill you. I mean, it's happened many
- 39:06times to me, and I mean, honestly, I wonder if it's not
- 39:09some form of demonic possession, because all error comes from the devil, and
- 39:16Protestantism being opposed to the Church founded and guaranteed by Jesus Christ himself is not
- 39:24of God. And even I wonder if maybe the most devout Protestant Christian is
- 39:35not somewhat susceptible to demonic influence due to the founding principles of their church.
- 39:45I hope not, but I have been in that position where someone's trying to
- 39:51tell me, you know, Jesus loves you and you're destined for heaven,
- 39:54and they say something that is opposed to what the Bible says, and I
- 40:00now it's wrong. And they ask, you know what church you go to?
- 40:01I say, I'm Catholic, and suddenly they fly into a full rage,
- 40:07like literally on the verge of you know, punching me in the face.
- 40:13And where I not, you know, over six feet tassi, I'm
- 40:16like sixty four and about two hundred and twenty pounds lean. You know,
- 40:22they probably would have. I mean, most people look at me and I'm
- 40:27I'm a hill billy with a knife on my belt and I'm a big,
- 40:29burly guy, and They're not going to start a fight. But a lot
- 40:32of them have been on the verge of that. Men and women, irrational
- 40:42violent hate wells up within them in the blink of an eye, and when
- 40:50it comes down to even if it's not a demonic influence, which you know,
- 40:54I'm starting to think it is, what's your what you say to them,
- 40:59in refuting what they say or even disagreeing on like minor points, undermines
- 41:06their identity. I mean, I don't even know how to explain it.
- 41:14I mean it would be like if you were talking to a Nazi who was
- 41:16telling you that, you know, the Aryan race is, you know,
- 41:22the best thing out there, and you say, well, you know,
- 41:24actually the Jews were right on this, and there we go nuts on you,
- 41:28right, That's kind of what you run into. But anyway, never
- 41:36forget that while we may be talking about Protestants Protestant doctrine here, Catholics do
- 41:44fall into this error, this heresy through the center of presumption. And the
- 41:51probably the strongest words Jesus said were about lukewarm Christians, by which he would
- 41:59mean Catholics, of course, because there was no other church founded by Jesus,
- 42:04those of us who just go through the motions and presume salvation simply for
- 42:09being a member of the Catholic Church. He said, he would spit them
- 42:14out of his mouth. And to go even further, our Lord absolutely completely
- 42:22refuted such heresies, especially this once saved, always saved, or really the
- 42:28idea that you can be a Christian and not Catholic I know there's a strong
- 42:32statement, but you got to remember all valid Protestant Christianity is based on Catholic
- 42:38doctrine and the Bible, written and published and promoted and distributed by the Catholic
- 42:44Church. They would have no religion at all without Catholicism. So all Protestant
- 42:52belief comes through the Catholic Church. That's why they the church has always said
- 42:57salvation comes through the Catholic Church. Jesus said not. And again, you
- 43:04know, the Protestant doctrine is faith alone, to believe in Jesus is all
- 43:09that's necessary to be saved. But what did Jesus actually say. He said,
- 43:15I think it's in Matthew. I'd have to look it up. Not
- 43:17everyone that saith to me, Lord Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of
- 43:22Heaven. Now it says also in the Bible, no one can call Jesus
- 43:27Lord, you know, except through the Holy Spirit. But here he says,
- 43:31not everyone that saith to me, Lord Lord, shall enter into the
- 43:36Kingdom of Heaven. But he that doeth the will of my Father, who
- 43:39is in heaven, he shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Many will
- 43:44say to me that day, Lord Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
- 43:47name and cast out devils in their name and done many miracles in thy name?
- 43:52And I mean, you know, Protestant churches certainly have done many miracles
- 43:57and cast out devils and profit. I mean, think again, Jimmy Slaggard.
- 44:00I always remember, I grew up on you know, three channels on
- 44:05television of the South, and you were gonna watch Jimmy Slaggard and he would
- 44:08smack somebody in the head and heal them, and he would cast out demons
- 44:12and all that, And what does Jesus say? And then I will profess
- 44:15under them? I never knew you. Depart from me, you that work
- 44:21iniquity. Everyone therefore, that heareth these my words and doff them, do
- 44:27with them. I guess it's what I should say. Shall be likened to
- 44:30a wise man that built his house upon a rock. And who does he
- 44:35say the rock is but Saint Peter. And the rain fell, and the
- 44:38floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon the house, and it
- 44:42fell not it was founded on a rock. And everyone that heareth my words
- 44:49and doff them not shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon
- 44:53the sand, and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the
- 44:58wind blew, and they beat upon that house fell, and it was a
- 45:00great fall thereof as Catholics, we our faith, our church, our doctrine
- 45:08is built upon the one man in the history of the world, to whom
- 45:13Jesus said, you are the Rock, and upon you the rock I will
- 45:17build my church. And our church teaches that mortal sin committed by a Christian
- 45:27will kill the soul and you'll go to hell. The only way to be
- 45:34resolved absolved, I should say, absolved of mortal sin, is the sacrament
- 45:39of confession, as dictated by Jesus, as ordered by Jesus Christ in the
- 45:45Gospel of John, through a Catholic church, through a Catholic priest. The
- 45:49priest stands in persona ex christie, in the person of Christ when he enacts
- 45:54the sacraments, and the greatest Christian, like Saint Paul, is still in
- 46:01danger of losing his salvation, not because of faith, not because of what
- 46:09he believes, but because of sin. Once saved, always saved is a
- 46:15terrible heresy that probably has done in immeasurable harm. Now, like I said,
- 46:23Protestants gonna be forgiven because of their ignorance. They'll figure it out.
- 46:28You know, Jesus is going to say to them, you know you believe
- 46:30that, but that was wrong. I'm not gonna, you know, necessarily
- 46:34hold you accountable because you didn't understand. You were just ignorant. I don't
- 46:40know, you know what he's going to say about their prejudice, their hatred
- 46:45of his church. But they're gonna get sort of things out in purgatory.
- 46:52We believe that, and let I mean, they're going to be grateful on
- 46:55the day when they discover the truth of progrey Tory. That's going to be
- 47:02their salvation. But us Catholics, we who have the fullness of the Church,
- 47:08we're gonna be held to a much higher standard, a much higher standard.
- 47:14And just because you were born into the Catholic Church, your parents were
- 47:16to Catholic or you were confirmed in the Catholic Church, you know at nine
- 47:21years old or whatever, it doesn't mean anything. What it means is you're
- 47:23gonna be judged more harshly because you know, you know better and you're doing
- 47:29wrong anyway. I am, we all are. That is why we have
- 47:35to continually strive and work and try to be better, and try to do
- 47:39better, and beg forgiveness, and do our accipentence and our prayers every night,
- 47:44and go to confession, and God willing by the end of this life,
- 47:49if we have not become pure, become saints by the time we die,
- 47:54we'll work it out in purgatory as well. That is a great hope
- 48:00we have. But the idea that you know, God and his mercy is
- 48:05just going to forgive anything that's that's not biblical. Once saved, always saved,
- 48:13is not biblical. Jesus explicitly said to the Pharisees who said they were
- 48:21saved just by being descendants of Abraham. He said he could raise up descendants
- 48:27of Abraham of the rocks if he want to. It was there. You
- 48:32know, they would be saved through their own personal adherence to His commandments,
- 48:39not their heredity. And just because you have five generations of Catholics in your
- 48:44family, just because you were born or baptized and confirmed into a Catholic Church,
- 48:50but you don't go to Mass anymore, it's going to be so much,
- 48:54so much you're you You're gonna have so much more guilt and sin.
- 49:00Then an ignorant prejudiced, bigoted Protestant. And if you are an ignorant,
- 49:07bigoted, prejudiced Protestant, pick up your Bible, read and realize what I'm
- 49:14telling you is the God's honest truth. And this once Saved, Always Saved
- 49:19idea is a really quick way to go to hell, a really quick way
- 49:27to go to hell. It will allow you to excuse the worst actions.
- 49:34And I've seen it. I've seen it among very religious people, ministers,
- 49:42families of ministers. You know they always say preachers, kids are the worst.
- 49:47There's a reason for that. If you believe once Saved, Always Saved,
- 49:53you think you can get away with anything. And at the end of
- 49:58the day, Jesus was say, I do not know you. I don't
- 50:04care if you believe in me. I don't care what you did in my
- 50:07name. He said, depart from me. I never knew you. That
- 50:15work iniquity. Don't don't let yourself be in that position. I pray that
- 50:22I will never be in that position. By no means do I ever hold
- 50:27myself up as a paragon of virtue. Very much the opposite. But I
- 50:32know one thing Jesus said, Faith alone is not enough. Faith in works,
- 50:42faith in works, and that's what Martin Luther had change, and that
- 50:46is what began this heresy that has very likely led minute millions of people to
- 50:52hell. Martin Luther was an Antichrist, and those who preach doctrines that oppose
- 51:00her the postal words of Jesus Christ and the teachings of his infallible church,
- 51:04commit heresy and they will be judged as not ministers of God but agents of
- 51:10Satan. All right, y'all, but we'll go real serious now, we'll
- 51:16go real late, Saint Padre Pio said, Pray, hope, and don't
- 51:21worry. Thank God, this summer's almost over. Hurricane came through. Doesn't
- 51:25seem to be as bad as people thought it was going to be. It's
- 51:29actually a little cooler today, and thank God for that. Anyway, y'all,
- 51:32have a great rest of your week and weekend. And you know,
- 51:37usually I only do podcast Monday through Thursday, so barring any breaking news or
- 51:45events or something I have to weigh into, i'll talk to you on Monday.
- 51:49Have a great weekend, enjoy this weather. It's it's really nice today.
- 51:53And if you did get hit hard by the hurricane, you're in my
- 51:57prayers. That's all I can say, so y'all have a good one.
