- 0:01Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike Lane. When you find yourself going through dips
- 0:04Speaker 1: of the schedule, who are you leaning on as maybe
- 0:07Speaker 1: a second voice? Obviously the top one comes from yourself.
- 0:10Speaker 1: But is this a are you pulling Everly and Schwartz
- 0:12Speaker 1: and macadd and the leadership group aside and saying, hey,
- 0:15Speaker 1: let's see if we can get these guys going. What's
- 0:17Speaker 1: that message and where does that message come from? A?
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean obviously you know it's there's It's just
- 0:24Speaker 2: where leadership and leadership from within comes in. You know,
- 0:28Speaker 2: starts from my soft from the coaching staff. You know,
- 0:32Speaker 2: we have to be better as well, right, so it
- 0:35Speaker 2: starts right at the top. You know, the penalty killing
- 0:37Speaker 2: for example. You know, we've got to coach it better.
- 0:41Speaker 2: You know, if our power play isn't getting it done
- 0:43Speaker 2: over the course of two or three games, we've got
- 0:46Speaker 2: to coach it better. You know, it starts there. But
- 0:48Speaker 2: at the end of the day, your leadership group and
- 0:52Speaker 2: those guys, those captains and assistants within their room are
- 0:56Speaker 2: the guys that have to also drive from within. And
- 0:59Speaker 2: you know this is this is where you know a
- 1:02Speaker 2: guy like Jays Schwartz is missed in these situations. And
- 1:06Speaker 2: in these areas, and you know, we have to have
- 1:08Speaker 2: other guys step up another hit for the krackend on
- 1:10Speaker 2: the injury front. Berkeley Catton now out week to week.
- 1:14Speaker 2: How have you seen his game grow and develop from
- 1:16Speaker 2: where you first saw him this past summer and in
- 1:19Speaker 2: training camp And what type of loss will this be
- 1:22Speaker 2: for the Crack and moving forward? Yeah, well, it hurts
- 1:24Speaker 2: our speed because you know he and it hurts our
- 1:27Speaker 2: playmaking ability. He makes as many plays as anybody else,
- 1:30Speaker 2: to be honest with you, and you know, at the
- 1:33Speaker 2: end of the day, you know he he creates opportunities
- 1:37Speaker 2: and creates chances, and so you know, we missed, we
- 1:41Speaker 2: missed that area. But the other thing and the thing
- 1:44Speaker 2: that I've noticed about him and how responsible he is,
- 1:48Speaker 2: is how responsible he is away from the Parker. So
- 1:50Speaker 2: you know, of all our young players, I would say
- 1:52Speaker 2: that he's probably one of the most responsible.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Guys on the hockey team. And that's been a good
- 1:58Speaker 3: It's been.
- 1:58Speaker 2: A really good thing to see because there's a lot
- 2:01Speaker 2: of trust that goes into Berkeley's game from the coaching staff.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Chayler Stevenson playing in his six hundredth NHL game tonight
- 2:07Speaker 1: and a player that you've got a lot of history
- 2:10Speaker 1: with from fishing out hockey balls from your backyard when
- 2:13Speaker 1: he was growing up to coaching him in Washington and
- 2:15Speaker 1: everything in between. What has he meant to you as
- 2:18Speaker 1: a person as a coach, and now to have him
- 2:21Speaker 1: here on this roster helping to make this team better, well.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It's nice to see obviously having you know, been friends
- 2:27Speaker 2: with his parents and initially.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And then you know, knowing him when he was a
- 2:33Speaker 3: young kid and watching him grow and evolve and coaching
- 2:37Speaker 3: him in his rookie season in Washington and win his
- 2:39Speaker 3: Stanley Cup, and it's just.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You know, there's a lot of history there. So six
- 2:43Speaker 2: hundred games is a tremendous accomplishment. There's a reason guys
- 2:47Speaker 2: play six hundred games, you know, and there's a variation
- 2:50Speaker 2: of those reasons. And certainly Chandler as well deserved of that.
- 2:54Speaker 1: The crack a good bounce back effort against the Red Wings,
- 2:57Speaker 1: but unfortunately the result was the same four or three
- 3:01Speaker 1: loss to Detroit. Take us back to that game a
- 3:03Speaker 1: couple of nights ago, where you thought the biggest improvement
- 3:06Speaker 1: from those Edmonton games were and where you wanted to
- 3:09Speaker 1: see the team perform a little better.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Well, I thought we were on our toes a lot
- 3:12Speaker 2: more against Detroit. You know, Edmonton backed us off a
- 3:16Speaker 2: little bit. I think potentially those top two guys, when
- 3:20Speaker 2: they get wound up, they can't have the tendency to
- 3:23Speaker 2: back you off. I thought we maybe showed them a
- 3:26Speaker 2: little too much respect. You know, Detroit has some obviously
- 3:29Speaker 2: high end players too. But I thought we came out
- 3:31Speaker 2: and played mortar wire identity and mortar wire game. We
- 3:34Speaker 2: were better in our defensive zone, and we attacked more offensively,
- 3:37Speaker 2: more shock volume from us. And you know what we're
- 3:41Speaker 2: doing right now, unfortunately, is you know, we're making a
- 3:44Speaker 2: mistake here, a mistake there, and it's becoming very very costly.
- 3:48Speaker 2: You know, a bad decision at the end of the
- 3:51Speaker 2: second period kind of turned that game or flipped that
- 3:53Speaker 2: game a little bit. And you know, those are things
- 3:56Speaker 2: that when you're having trouble winning hockey games, there the
- 4:00Speaker 2: reasons why, and when you're winning hockey games, you're not
- 4:03Speaker 2: making those kind of errors, right, So you know, we've
- 4:06Speaker 2: just got to be better in those in those certain situations.
- 4:09Speaker 2: We've we've played well enough here certainly, you know, in
- 4:14Speaker 2: the last three home games to at least have points
- 4:16Speaker 2: in two of.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Them, and you know, when you.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Get down into the five minute range in the third period,
- 4:23Speaker 2: when you're tied in any building, but certainly in your
- 4:26Speaker 2: home building, you can't afford to lose those games in regulation.
- 4:30Speaker 2: And that's what we've done. So, you know, super disappointing,
- 4:34Speaker 2: super disappointing not to have points, But here we are,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and we have to learn from it and continue to
- 4:41Speaker 2: get better.
- 4:41Speaker 1: With Minnesota points in seven of the last ten game,
- 4:44Speaker 1: eight of their last ten games, and they're a team that, again,
- 4:47Speaker 1: like Seattle, in the thick of their playoff race, it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: been very tight out in the central overall. What type
- 4:53Speaker 1: of problems do they present tonight for your group?
- 4:57Speaker 2: Well, they're you know, they have high ends skill with
- 5:00Speaker 2: Capriso obviously, you know, and he's he's feeling it. Matt
- 5:05Speaker 2: Boldie is. I don't know if he's an underrated superstar,
- 5:09Speaker 2: but he is in my mind, he's an extremely extremely
- 5:12Speaker 2: good hockey player. You know, they've got good balance, they've
- 5:15Speaker 2: got good depth. Ryan Hartman is playing center on their
- 5:18Speaker 2: fourth line, and they've got size. So real, real difficult
- 5:24Speaker 2: hockey team for us to play against. Obviously, and we
- 5:26Speaker 2: have to be a difficult team for them to play against.
- 5:29Speaker 2: We have to use our speed and we have to
- 5:31Speaker 2: be prepared to battle
