- 0:00Welcome to Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:02I'm that Michelle chick. And I'm Rick.
- 0:05Welcome, welcome. So podcast #13 I can't believe.
- 0:09It this is Taylor Swift's lucky. I mean, we're going to talk
- 0:12about Taylor coming up, so this must be Taylor Swift's lucky
- 0:15number as well. It is, yes.
- 0:17So. Ironic.
- 0:19Yes, as Alanis would say, exactly.
- 0:22But first, let's hear about the house.
- 0:25Any updates? Oh, about my house.
- 0:28Yes, No, no, no, it's right now, thanks to thanks to Megan, it's
- 0:35been demoed basically. So the the guest room, the guest
- 0:38room is gutted base basically. And Yep, it's going to need it's
- 0:42going to need new carpeting, new drywall.
- 0:45Looks like it's interesting that it has a concrete foundation to
- 0:48some extent, but it looks like there's a big crack in the
- 0:51foundation or I mean, just, you know, a crack and it looks like
- 0:55it'd been filled before. So it had yeah, it had goop it
- 1:00before. So I think that this has
- 1:02actually been a reoccurring problem in this old.
- 1:05This house was built in 1970. So my gut is yeah.
- 1:08So we're going to have to, to replace the outside, you know,
- 1:12the, the wood on the outside and put, Oh my gosh, put some
- 1:17weight, yeah, insulation in there and then but it's dried
- 1:20out. Megan, Megan being superwoman
- 1:22and well beyond my skill set. She had, she had that thing
- 1:25demoed in, in a day. And, and, and she, she is just
- 1:32way, way better at this because to me, I freak out.
- 1:35I, I do anything financial. I'm like the Tiger King.
- 1:39I'm like the Tiger King. I'm never going to financially
- 1:41resent. So, so my biggest, one of my
- 1:45biggest weaknesses is I totally overreact.
- 1:48Right, which we talked about that last episode, we were.
- 1:51Talking about. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:53Even want to deal with the problem like I, I want it to go
- 1:56away. I want to hide my and and then
- 1:59she has and then she has to walk me off the ledge and she's like,
- 2:02the house is still here. It's one little section.
- 2:06We'll get through it. So yeah.
- 2:08So it's it's it's, it's one of those things that's hey.
- 2:14Which dog is that? That's Barkley.
- 2:16Well, Barkley's gone deaf. So Barkley.
- 2:20Barkley. Poor Barkley's deaf.
- 2:21So, yeah, so. And then we have a guest dog
- 2:25staying with us in Cairo. And so so that's why Barkley's
- 2:30barking. So if Cairo is upstairs making
- 2:33any sound or if Bodie's making sounds up there, he feels like
- 2:37it's his duty to protect and he's way down here in the in the
- 2:39basement area. But I know, but, but Ford
- 2:42Barkley has yeah, he has no hearing.
- 2:43So I don't, I don't know how he hears.
- 2:46I think he can still hear the the he can still hear movement
- 2:49or something or vibration. Maybe I was going to say
- 2:51vibration, yeah. Yeah, that, but that's that's
- 2:54about it. But if you try to call him or
- 2:55anything, you have to get in front of him where he can
- 2:57actually see you feel like. So the good news, houses
- 3:01fixable. I mean, we haven't got an
- 3:03estimate yet. It, it dried out over the
- 3:05weekend. Megan and Kyron went and got a
- 3:07big giant blue, one of those massive industrial fans.
- 3:11So it's been, it's been drying out.
- 3:13But yeah, she, she pulled up the carpet and, and got rid of the
- 3:18drywall area and, and basically dried it over the weekend.
- 3:21And so we'll have to, we're going to go get, we already have
- 3:24a HELOC, so we may have to add to the heel, heel lock a little
- 3:28bit in terms of fixing that that little section.
- 3:31So, but me, of course, I have to over exaggerate and freak out
- 3:35and lose my mind. And as you know, growing up
- 3:38poor, my biggest fear is is back to the poor house.
- 3:44And it's not about the money. It's just the fact that I don't
- 3:47want to ever have that those feelings and that that stress
- 3:50and that worry. Right.
- 3:52It takes us back. And we've talked about this on
- 3:54multiple, multiple podcasts. It takes us back to our
- 3:57childhood, like literally takes us back.
- 3:59Those feelings, the places we were.
- 4:02Yeah. I love, I love it's.
- 4:04Just a trauma response. I know I but I love people who
- 4:07can I, I mean people who go through life like nonchalantly.
- 4:11That would be wah, deal. I'll just, I'll just swipe a
- 4:14credit card. Big deal.
- 4:16Great. It's like I, I, I can't, I just
- 4:19for some reason, I can't live like that.
- 4:20It just it terrifies me. So that's what I, you know, I'll
- 4:23be the first to always concede my, you know, if Megan and I, we
- 4:27don't fight very often, but if we ever fight about anything,
- 4:29it's always fight. It's always finances or
- 4:31something financial. Isn't that the number one cause
- 4:33of divorce? I mean it is are the same so
- 4:36it's no different. They think that's any couple.
- 4:39Yeah, but and, and, and, and for us as, so I, you know, I plot
- 4:43out my budget monthly. And so it's like, I know what I
- 4:47can spend. And so when something, yeah, we
- 4:50have, we have savings and different things like that.
- 4:52But it's like, but it takes me a long time being in radio to save
- 4:56some money. It just doesn't happen
- 4:57overnight. And so it takes me months and
- 4:59months and months. Then I do a project, let's say
- 5:01it's a $2000 project. It took me 8, took me 8 months
- 5:06to save that money and then it's gone in one project and then I
- 5:10have to start over again. So, but the house will as, as
- 5:13Megan says, the house survived, we're still there.
- 5:16There's no mold and sounds like Megan got it all clear.
- 5:24Just to show you how you know, financially crazy I am, it's
- 5:28man. I'll live in that mold.
- 5:30I'll let you know. She's like, no, you won't.
- 5:32She's. Like, hell no, no, she got a
- 5:35sledgehammer. She got a sledgehammer and she
- 5:36went to town because I will not live in this.
- 5:39What the? Hell, that is so unhealthy.
- 5:42Yeah, well, she's because I said, I said well, we'll just
- 5:46fix it when we sell the house. So she did not take kindly to my
- 5:52advice on that. She no because.
- 5:54What about like the floor joists?
- 5:56The main like. Well, it's concrete.
- 5:58That's concrete because it is in the basement.
- 6:00But there's no but there has to be wood, you know, floorboards
- 6:04and joists's connecting. To the door, concrete at the
- 6:08bottom, so like. Your but the next floor like
- 6:10your next level. Oh, I'm sure don't.
- 6:13Have like the wood. Yeah.
- 6:15The nice thing about it, I think we're going to be OK because the
- 6:18sprinkler was really hitting this one area where that crack.
- 6:21Was. So I mean, it's oh, if you go
- 6:23upstairs and look on the outside, it's a couple panels on
- 6:26the outside where it where it strategically would just stay.
- 6:30Right. So so not a lot of the wood.
- 6:33No, it wasn't going back and forth along the wall.
- 6:35It's just one area. Oh, good, good, Yeah.
- 6:38So that's the good news. You were over exaggerating it.
- 6:41That's yeah. Don't I always?
- 6:43Kidding. My eyes are brown.
- 6:45I always that's that's what I do Every every story is an over
- 6:49exaggeration. Once you know that, then then
- 6:51you know that I'm just a big bullshitter.
- 6:53Yeah, yeah, that, that's. So, so yes, but my kryptonite,
- 6:57my weakness is anything financial because I have, I have
- 7:02as Dave, as Dave Ramsey would say, I have every dollar
- 7:04accounted for in my budget wait. And so when I get hit from the
- 7:08side, I just, I literally lose it.
- 7:11But then I get over it. You, you know me, Michelle.
- 7:13How many years have you known me?
- 7:14O25. Right.
- 7:16So I freak out in situations like, yeah, like crazy.
- 7:21And then once I come back to Earth, I'm more reasonable.
- 7:24And you also freak out when you don't want to go do something.
- 7:28Oh, you whine and complain that like the entire Lego run up to
- 7:33this event, and then once we get you there, then you're like,
- 7:36fine, and you're having a good time.
- 7:38Yeah, but we have to hear about it the entire time leading up to
- 7:42this event because you don't want to do it or you're dreading
- 7:45it or this and that, and then you get there and it's a good
- 7:48time. And I turn on the, I turn on the
- 7:50Rickster charm and then and then once I'm done with it, I always,
- 7:54usually when I leave an event, I'm like, oh, I'm glad I did
- 7:56that. Yeah.
- 7:57That's what I always say, yeah. Isn't Jay like that a little
- 8:00bit? No, I mean, he's he's pretty
- 8:04social. So I think I'm more the
- 8:08reserved, quiet person. I mean, like you, I can turn it
- 8:11on when it's necessary, but if it's just like, I don't have to.
- 8:16Yes, I mean I'm wasting, I'm wasting precious energy.
- 8:19Right. But I think mine being like the
- 8:21reserved stand up, like basically I have to read the
- 8:26room and figure out everybody's personalities.
- 8:29But that is a trauma response from growing up because I never
- 8:34knew what was going to come through the front door.
- 8:37And so you have to gauge everybody's, you know,
- 8:41personalities and you're always in that mindset.
- 8:44And so that's something as an adult, I, it's been really hard
- 8:47for me to break that cycle. Talking to my therapist, she's
- 8:50like, yeah, this is going to take a lot of work.
- 8:53Like it's not just going to happen overnight, so.
- 8:55Yeah, it takes it takes forever. I will say I think one of the
- 8:59best compliments I ever got was from Andy Winfred who said,
- 9:03Rick, you're very self aware. And I to me that I think that
- 9:07that was a great compliment because when you're with a group
- 9:10of people and OK, so I'll give you a great example.
- 9:15One thing that you honestly never hear me talk about, even
- 9:18all the years we've worked together, is comic books.
- 9:23You have talked about it. But but not in depth.
- 9:26But not in depth, No, no so so even though I love.
- 9:29You would you would love Superman #1 or whatever how much
- 9:34you sold for. But there are people I work with
- 9:37when it comes to sports or when it comes to comic books or just
- 9:40their likes. It's like I want to hear their
- 9:42likes and then they go on and on and on and on and on.
- 9:47Because that's their personality.
- 9:49So you have to yeah, takes over who they are.
- 9:51Yeah. So when you're in a conversation
- 9:53with somebody, it's good to know some, a lot of, it's good to
- 9:56know a lot of a little bit of a lot of things, right.
- 9:59And then, and then if you're in the conversation, you can gauge
- 10:01yourself in that conversation. So I always say you don't
- 10:05overstay your welcome. So let's say you're talking
- 10:07about sports or you're talking about anything, you talk about
- 10:10living, growing up on a ranch, I mean, different things like
- 10:12that. All the share, all the shared
- 10:14experiences that you have. And then, but you're able to
- 10:19with, with being self aware, you're able to gauge the
- 10:23conversation to where, OK, now I'm really boring this person
- 10:25like I they're, they're, they're glossed over, they're glossed
- 10:28over, they're, they're, they're gone.
- 10:30And so if you're self aware, you're like, oh, hey, well, all
- 10:32right, I'll see you later, you know, and you and you tie it off
- 10:35and it's kind of most like doing a radio break a bit.
- 10:38You know, it's like, OK, we lost the audience.
- 10:39You lost them. OK, so in this podcast, I can
- 10:42say you've overstayed your welcome when you start telling
- 10:46his story. Keep going.
- 10:49Probably that'll be the queue. Overstayed your welcome.
- 10:52Well, I mean, I didn't, I didn't say I was an expert at it.
- 10:54I just said I, I did try to try to gauge myself in those in
- 10:57those conversations, but you know, I have to worry about
- 11:00that. It was funny.
- 11:01We have a Co worker that drives Patty nuts because he'll come in
- 11:05and he is I I think he's a little on the autistic side,
- 11:09which is perfectly fine, but he's an expert in everything.
- 11:13Like it doesn't, it doesn't matter what it is.
- 11:15He's an expert. Is he more like the expert or
- 11:19the know it all? Because like, there's
- 11:21differences to some. Extent a know it all.
- 11:26And the know it alls are annoying as hell so they.
- 11:30So yeah, so Even so any you know, he's a good Co worker, but
- 11:34it's funny, even when he comes in and talks about comic books,
- 11:36which is my #1 love right within the first couple minutes.
- 11:39OK, I'm good. I'm good.
- 11:41Great. You're done.
- 11:42I'm still. I'm done.
- 11:43I did. I will give you, I will give a
- 11:45little. I will have a little fun with
- 11:46this one though so it it is nice to get one up on a know it all.
- 11:52Yes, it is. So so Benton Franklin Fair and
- 11:55rodeo this last week Daughtry was performing and so we went
- 12:01backstage to Daughtry. So I'm talking to Chris
- 12:03Daughtry, you know the lead singer of Daughtry and a lot of
- 12:06people don't realize this. He has done several comic book
- 12:10covers so for decent comics and marvel.
- 12:13So spider man and Superman and Batman.
- 12:16Well my my my Mr. know it all Co worker was there and guess what
- 12:21he didn't know. So I walk up to talk to Chris
- 12:24Daughtry. I'm like, oh man, I really love,
- 12:26love your, your, your work on DC Comics and Marvel Comics.
- 12:29And he was like, what? He does comic books.
- 12:31He's a comic book nerd. I'm like, well, he does have a
- 12:33song called Waiting for Superman.
- 12:37But that could just be nothing to do with the real Superman.
- 12:41But like normal folks like us that don't have that information
- 12:44or know that information, that song to me is just, oh, that's a
- 12:47really good song. But he.
- 12:49Just yeah. So he he wrote the song, but
- 12:51it's it's one of those. So it was nice to get a A1 up.
- 12:54But again, yeah, you try not to in those conversations.
- 12:57You try not to overstay your welcome.
- 12:58Or we have I have another Co worker and I and he's very proud
- 13:01of his very proud of his daughter.
- 13:03She's doing great and she's been a baseball player real time.
- 13:06Well, he'll come in and he'll it's not in the first minute or
- 13:09so I'm I'm caught up and then he starts going into the rules and
- 13:13coach says, so it's always like coach says, coach says I'm like,
- 13:16well, I don't number one, I don't know Jack's shit beyond
- 13:19the basics of baseball. So when he starts going, and
- 13:24that's the same with football. I, you know, we haven't talked
- 13:26about this. Football is my favorite sport.
- 13:28I do love football. I love football.
- 13:30Football as a kid was my favorite sport, but definitely
- 13:33not at the depth and level these that that people get crazy on.
- 13:38Baseball was always my sport, but yeah, I'm not into like,
- 13:41stats. And who did?
- 13:43This join the. Game in 1989.
- 13:47It's kind of like, it's kind of like what I learned about NASCAR
- 13:49is you pick your driver and then you talk and then you talk shit
- 13:52about everybody else's driver, even if your driver's not.
- 13:55For a crash, yes. That's the whole, and that's the
- 13:58whole thing about NASCAR is you pick your driver, you talk shit
- 14:01about everybody else and then it's amazing when you go to
- 14:04because I have gone to Fontana and I've gone to an actual
- 14:06NASCAR race. The boobs have, it's all merch
- 14:10on each driver, so each driver as their merch.
- 14:14So if it's Jimmy Johnson or you know, any of those guys, they
- 14:17all have their own merch booth. And so I thought, ah, the secret
- 14:20to NASCAR, picking your driver and talking shit.
- 14:25Even if your driver's not, even if your driver's not very good,
- 14:29you're still talking too. Well, I mean, you have to.
- 14:32Yeah, little things like that, but I also have a Co worker
- 14:34who's in a NASCAR. But if he came in and went
- 14:36beyond that, oh, I'm out of my I I can't keep up the
- 14:39conversation. Oh, no one shows the number #3
- 14:42for the Cup. I'm like, OK, yeah.
- 14:45OK, well, I think we've overstayed our welcome in this
- 14:47conversation, so let's move on to the good news of the day.
- 14:52This is the big one. I mean, I know why you're
- 14:53excited because it is the IT is the 13th episode.
- 14:56Go ahead and break the. News Everyone who is a Taylor
- 14:59Swift fan has been waiting for this news that she and Travis
- 15:04are engaged. Oh my God.
- 15:07When I saw it on her Instagram, I had to make sure it wasn't a
- 15:11joke, that it was real. It was like, true.
- 15:16Well, I mean, so much is like fake on the Internet.
- 15:20We've all been waiting for this moment.
- 15:22I had to be like, OK, OK, is this real?
- 15:24Like, I need to verify this is real.
- 15:26And once it was, I was like, yay.
- 15:29And I love how she posted it. So Taylor posted on her
- 15:32Instagram. It read, hold on.
- 15:35I know your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting
- 15:39married. Are getting married.
- 15:40Yes, yes, yeah. And I thought that was so sweet.
- 15:43The ring is beautiful and then I did I thought OK, this has got
- 15:46to be $1,000,000 ring and it is they had already listed the
- 15:49jeweler was an elite jewelry place.
- 15:52So it's very unique of. Course, yeah.
- 15:54I mean, you know, only the best, like both of them had the
- 15:57finances for this. Now this wedding I'm thinking is
- 16:01going to be like the royal wedding for the United States of
- 16:05America for us, since we don't have like a royal family like
- 16:08this is going to. Be, I mean, they probably won't
- 16:10televise it, but growing up, Oh no.
- 16:12But growing up as a kid, 1981, I remember when Prince Charles
- 16:18married Princess Di and I, it was on TV.
- 16:20We, I mean, I watched as a kid. So it's a big, big moment.
- 16:24And so I, I, I suspected something was up.
- 16:26So when she announced her album on on the podcast, you know,
- 16:31when they announced that just the way that they were looking
- 16:34at each other. But they're in love.
- 16:36I went no, I knew it. I'm like, oh, this one, this
- 16:40one. This is not this is not this is
- 16:42not this. Is not quite my nine years,
- 16:44yeah. I when I saw the podcast and
- 16:48just how gooey eyed they were at each other, cuckoo for Cocoa
- 16:51puffs. I'm like, Yep, they're gonna,
- 16:53they're gonna get hitched here, right?
- 16:54Which I was and and he's cool I. Mean I, I, again, I don't get
- 16:59into this. I know you get into the big
- 17:00celebrity stuff like that. I, I'm happy she found her guy
- 17:04And and I, I like, I like him a lot.
- 17:06I'm like this guy seems very down to earth.
- 17:09Yes. And and the brother, Jason and
- 17:11the mom, I mean, we, we were, we already liked them before Taylor
- 17:14Swift came into the picture. Right.
- 17:16She just made that invisible to more people, right?
- 17:20I wouldn't have known that unless you started dating them
- 17:22because that's not my team so I don't know much about them.
- 17:25So the cool thing about yeah, so so Travis and yeah, so Travis
- 17:29and and Jason, he's on the Eagle Sea, he's on the Chiefs.
- 17:32And so the Mama would have a split jersey.
- 17:35Yes. So that was kind of oh, yeah.
- 17:37So this is before Taylor. And so it was kind of fun to
- 17:39watch. You knew there were brothers on
- 17:40each teams and both of them tried to get a ring.
- 17:44So the good news is, is the brother got 1, Jason got the
- 17:48ring and then retired. So it's kind of cool.
- 17:51And I think Travis going to go try go for a third ring here
- 17:53with the the Chiefs this year. So see, I know a little bit
- 17:56about football. I mean, I know that if you stay
- 17:59in the NFL for five years or longer, you get retirement
- 18:02benefits. Oh, yeah, they, I know that
- 18:04much. They're.
- 18:04Taken care of, they're. Taken care of, but not this
- 18:07isn't. But this is amazing.
- 18:09I mean, it, it, it is normally normally, like you said, you
- 18:11don't get drawn into all the celebrity of it all.
- 18:13No, but this is it's a fairy tale.
- 18:16It's a love story. I like, I like and, and I you've
- 18:20met Taylor. Yes, a couple of times and.
- 18:23Yeah, the and she's the sweetest I have.
- 18:25Next, this person. Yeah, I stood next to her, did
- 18:28not get introduced to her. So I never, I never, I never
- 18:30take credit. I have been next to Taylor
- 18:33Swift. I was not.
- 18:34Introduced to Taylor. So I never take credit for
- 18:36meeting Taylor even though I breathe the same air as Taylor.
- 18:40It's. Kind of because I because to me
- 18:41is like I didn't get introduced. So if I didn't get introduced
- 18:43even though I was right next to her, No, I mean, isn't that how
- 18:46you would look at it? Well, yeah, I haven't officially
- 18:48met them yet, unless I've officially met them, right?
- 18:52I may have been in the same room, but they haven't met me
- 18:54right? So you have officially met her,
- 18:56which is very sweet a couple times.
- 18:58And I already know her reputation.
- 18:59She's very she's she is amazing. She's one of the best period.
- 19:03I do have an award from Taylor Swift when I was in Bakersfield,
- 19:07the song Tim McGraw, her very first song was a massive hit.
- 19:11So I did get so it's in my it's in my storage locker.
- 19:16But I do have a signed award from Taylor Swift for for me for
- 19:21breaking, sorry, breaking the record back in the day, 2005
- 19:25Rick Michaels. Here's a brand new one from an
- 19:27unknown girl named Taylor Swift. It's Tim McGraw on BIG965 S I
- 19:34got an award for it so that I do have I do have an autographed.
- 19:37Taylor and I'm sure she autographed many that day.
- 19:40Thousand many 1000 program. Director Famous by Jessica
- 19:43Simpson autographed poster that says Hey, Rick, thanks for
- 19:46playing my record, said Jessica Simpson.
- 19:48But all right, you. Don't know, that's probably what
- 19:50she wrote to all of them. Well, I feel bad for Chuck and
- 19:53Greg and everybody else. You've got to hate Rick.
- 19:56You know that, you know, thanks for playing my record.
- 19:58You know, not part, not part. My yeah, my Jessica Simpson one
- 20:01is hilarious because it did come from the record company and it
- 20:03is spelt Rik, same as the tailor Rik.
- 20:06Great. So it is, I mean, they don't
- 20:09know me, but it is my, it is my, you know, my award.
- 20:12Great. Well, I'm.
- 20:14Happy. Yes, me too.
- 20:16I wanted to share when I was in fifth grade, my 5th grade math
- 20:19teacher, she married my dad's cousin.
- 20:23And so I thought that I was like the hot stuff of the school
- 20:27because I was like the only one that was getting invited to this
- 20:30wedding. So that's.
- 20:31Funny. That's that's how I kind of
- 20:33think of this this whoever is getting invited to this wedding,
- 20:36the guest list of this is probably going to be better than
- 20:39just Bezos. I mean I.
- 20:41Mean again. I mean, it could go one of two
- 20:44ways. It could be the celebrity
- 20:46wedding of a lifetime. Or it could be the small, or it
- 20:49could. Be small intimate.
- 20:50I will say that my good friend and I can honestly say she's my
- 20:54friend Katie Cook posted up a picture of pictures of her and
- 21:00Taylor. And, and so if somebody's going
- 21:01to get an invite, I'm sure Katie's going to get an invite.
- 21:04So I'm so I'm 2° separated from Taylor.
- 21:08So because I did go, I did go to I did go to I did go to Katie's
- 21:12wedding in Nashville. I got invited.
- 21:14We went to to Nashville years ago.
- 21:16And you especially like you especially like it because her
- 21:19husband is the lead guitarist and Tim Mcgraws band.
- 21:22Yes. So, so that's legit, I mean.
- 21:24And I was super envious because I remember, I mean, we were
- 21:27working together when you went to this wedding.
- 21:30And also the former mayor of Yakima.
- 21:33And I was super envious just because I want to know, like, is
- 21:35Tim McGraw going to be there? You know how they're going to
- 21:37play songs like Gorgeous. Wedding Tim did not.
- 21:40Yeah, it was gorgeous. Wedding Tim did not, did not
- 21:43show up. But there was, I don't know, you
- 21:45know, I didn't. I mean, it was it, but it was an
- 21:47intimate wedding. It was like, I don't know, a
- 21:48couple, maybe a couple, 100, maybe 100 or so.
- 21:50So felt pretty proud to be a part of that.
- 21:53So I'll be curious to see if Taylor does the big wedding or
- 21:56if it's gonna be the intimate wedding.
- 21:58Right. Some people say she's already.
- 21:59Married this are gonna look like.
- 22:01I mean, I'm all I know. Someone is, I saw someone are
- 22:04like, oh, what's the I mean, it's all yeah.
- 22:05You girls, you girls, you girls. It's the one, you know, fantasy
- 22:12of childhood that we have. You know, we dream of this
- 22:15wedding day. And I mean, not all girls.
- 22:18I mean, some girls just like to go, you know, so the justice, so
- 22:21the peace. And that's fine too.
- 22:22But what you have, But the majority of us grow up on these
- 22:26Disney movies and we have this fantasy about these weddings.
- 22:29And most of the time, it's not like real not real.
- 22:32Like y'all give Taylor credit, I think yeah, I definitely think
- 22:34she's a a Disney Princess. There's no doubt about it.
- 22:37But I also look like but but when you have like more more
- 22:40money than God, it's like, I just don't.
- 22:43I mean, I, I guess I just don't understand the fascination with,
- 22:47with that, that incredible wealth that that's a normal day
- 22:53for them. Right.
- 22:55Yeah, I mean, it is so. But it'll be, it'll be.
- 22:58A grand event? You already know Michelle, they
- 23:01also, what's crazy about all of us is they will make money off
- 23:04the photo shoot they will make. I mean, the insanity of what
- 23:07people will. You know, This is why paparazzi,
- 23:10I'm not a I'm not a fan of paparazzi, but this is a reason
- 23:12why paparazzi follow these folks around.
- 23:15Because people get the money shot.
- 23:17And they and they want to, they want to feel like they're a part
- 23:20of this life. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:22So. Well, it's an escape for us.
- 23:25It's like no different than escaping in a book or a movie or
- 23:28for you comic books. For us, it's just an escape and
- 23:31we're living through this person and we get, you know.
- 23:34I I did see that Big D and Bubba the country guys posted an
- 23:38invite that said it was February 8th.
- 23:42Oh, that's well. For, for Super Bowl or whatever
- 23:46it was like it actually says, oh, Travis and Travis and
- 23:49Taylor, we've been invited and I think it was a joke.
- 23:52You know, unless, unless the Chiefs win a Super Bowl is what
- 23:54it says. I was going to say, is that like
- 23:56getting a dig that they're not going?
- 23:57To And that's what the joke was on the invite.
- 23:59I see, you know, of course so. Yeah, yeah, but but it's super
- 24:03exciting. And I think, like you said,
- 24:06Princess Di was was a big what other incredible weddings can
- 24:10you think of off the top of your head?
- 24:12Besides that, I know of Prince that was a massive that was.
- 24:15The right Yes. Prince Trials?
- 24:17Princess Diana? Probably Kate Middleton.
- 24:21That was the Prince William. So yeah, I'm gonna.
- 24:23Give and then Megan and Harry yeah because well and like OK
- 24:28and Carolyn and JFK junior Yep I kind of remember their wedding
- 24:34but it wasn't a big, you know grand affair like no, I.
- 24:40Just. Like what we would want in that
- 24:43family because they are the closest thing that we would have
- 24:46to a royal family here in America and I and I.
- 24:48Can see that with and I and I see that with Taylor.
- 24:50I mean it's so funny when that news broke, my entire Facebook
- 24:53Insta feeds were. Just all.
- 24:55It is, it's all it was. And even people making jokes
- 24:59too. I mean it just nothing but me.
- 25:00I mean just the list goes on and on and on.
- 25:02But I will I will give them credit.
- 25:04The podcast, when she announced the album, they looked like they
- 25:07were in love and I thought, oh, this is going to stick.
- 25:09Yes, I'm just so happy she's fell in love and someone who
- 25:12obviously looks like he loves her back and treats her well,
- 25:15like that's what any girl deserves.
- 25:17And I mean, as much as we love Taylor, let's put it in
- 25:20perspective, too. She's 35.
- 25:24It's it's not like the clock is ticking.
- 25:26If she's going to have she. Seems tight yet, but she seems
- 25:29timeless in her eyes because we still think of her as 16 or 22
- 25:33or 23. She's she's 35, she's pushing
- 25:36another, she's pushing 40. Right, so.
- 25:39And he's 35. They're the same age.
- 25:42Right, Yeah, biological clock's a ticking.
- 25:46Yeah, basically. I mean, at the at the end of the
- 25:48day, she's 35 years old. I get it.
- 25:50So she found her true love. I love it.
- 25:52Yep. All right, well, let's talk
- 25:53about this Cracker Barrel logo because I, I did not.
- 25:57OK, OK, First off, I when I started seeing all this come up
- 26:02in my social media, I'm thinking, oh, why is everyone
- 26:07upset about this? I don't, I didn't understand why
- 26:11everyone is so upset that they changed the logo.
- 26:15Is it OK? Is it because they took the guy
- 26:18out of the logo? I mean, yes, the new logo is
- 26:21super plain and generic, which is that's what they wanted.
- 26:24That's what they wanted. But is is that why they're mad?
- 26:28Because they took the guy out of the logo lately?
- 26:31Well, there's a, there's also a, the guy, the guy in the barrel,
- 26:34there's a, there's a barrel too. So he's he's leaning against the
- 26:36barrel. He's leaning up against the
- 26:38barrel, right? He's sitting there like.
- 26:40I, I, again, I've never been to a Cracker Barrel.
- 26:43I know that they're predominantly Midwest down
- 26:44South. I've been to one in Texas, like,
- 26:47yeah, this is 15 years. Ago it's a big deal, but it's
- 26:51like I just have never seen people freak out over well,
- 26:53every people freak out over everything these days And so
- 26:57they, they, they feel like they're taking the Americana
- 27:00away or you know, the Americanness of it.
- 27:03And it's funny, if you look at and somebody posted up, which I
- 27:06thought was very interesting, was McDonald's or Taco Bell or
- 27:10Taco Time back in the day, all the the restaurants look like
- 27:14boxes now. Right, it has.
- 27:17Well, I think because it has to be something simple and quickly
- 27:21recognizable, like it can't be this busy.
- 27:26Well, America. That word, a busy logo like it
- 27:29has to like you have to instantly recognize it when you
- 27:32see. But you recognize McDonald's
- 27:33when you were a kid, you recognize Taco Bell?
- 27:35Definitely, yeah. So there's, there's, I think
- 27:37that there's been this move and I don't know what it is
- 27:40modernism to where you everything, basically everything
- 27:43is a square box. It just is like Taco Bell's a
- 27:47square box. McDonald's is a square box.
- 27:49And so I like, I like when I see a retro McDonald's or I see
- 27:52something retro looking because it takes us, takes us back to
- 27:55childhood. Maybe that's because of social
- 27:57media. Everything's a square box.
- 27:59We like in this program are a square box like.
- 28:02Our logo is a square box like and I understand.
- 28:06And I understand because like for me, my, my favorite logos is
- 28:12I love the neons of the 80s, you know, the, the 80s.
- 28:16So, so there was a record album like Duran Duran or it and it
- 28:21and it was the I love the font where it's like paint.
- 28:25So it so it has the person's name.
- 28:26So if that said Rick and that Michelle chick and it was like
- 28:29the. Graffiti looking.
- 28:30Yes. And it like splotchy paint, kind
- 28:32of like kind of like, so how see how this key logo is that I'm
- 28:35wearing, right? It's got a little splotch right
- 28:37there, you know? Yeah.
- 28:39Yeah, so it's kind of a paint. Even this even this logo
- 28:42probably is, is retro looking considering, but it's very you
- 28:46know, it's got that it's got that cool 80s neon.
- 28:49I I like that. Now I don't know if it would
- 28:52work today. So but I know people are are
- 28:55freaked out about it. I mean, I understand the Aunt
- 28:59Jemima or the Uncle Ben's rice different when you take it away,
- 29:03when you take it away ethnicity from logos.
- 29:08The squaw that was on the Indian that was on the butter land.
- 29:12O'lakes. Yeah, little things like that
- 29:15and streamlining, streamlining those things, I think you're
- 29:19doing a disservice. But a guy at the crack, I mean,
- 29:23yes, if someone wants to put comments in below about the
- 29:25Cracker Barrel and #1 because we don't live there, we don't know
- 29:28it as well. But I don't, I, I just have
- 29:32never understood the, you know, but people get upset.
- 29:35You change your name. Look at the Washington.
- 29:37Look at the Washington Redskins. People don't like change.
- 29:41They don't like. Well, yeah.
- 29:42But we have to progress and change in everything.
- 29:45We can't just. Just social media.
- 29:46The social media today make it worse.
- 29:50Well, yes, I think, I think they almost make these like outrage
- 29:55over things that aren't people aren't really outraged about
- 29:59like or like maybe one person tweeted about this Cracker
- 30:02Barrel thing and then it just blew up from there and now
- 30:05everybody is upset about it. Where we wouldn't have been, it
- 30:09would have just been, we would have seen the commercial on TV
- 30:12and the logo would have been changed when we went, oh, they
- 30:14oh, this has changed. They changed their logo or
- 30:16whatever. Or it wouldn't have even like
- 30:18been a blip in our minds. We're busy day-to-day.
- 30:20Like we wouldn't have even paid attention to a logo change.
- 30:23You know, like well, when you I mean.
- 30:25Coke or Pepsi or Sprite, those all change.
- 30:28Well, which one was the one that it's called Starry, but it was
- 30:32called something else. Remember that's the soda
- 30:34puppets. The the Pepsi version of Sprite
- 30:36was called something it they changed it to Starry, but it was
- 30:39something totally different. Yeah, I don't remember that.
- 30:41One yeah, yeah, you see for yeah I.
- 30:43Don't remember, I don't remember that one.
- 30:47Just for that I've got to pull up starry soda because I'm
- 30:49curious. Oh gosh, yeah.
- 30:51Because it had a different name and they changed it and people,
- 30:54people, people lost their their minds about it.
- 30:57Is that kind of like when Garth Brooks went to Chris Gaines?
- 31:00Remember that whole? Oh, Sierra Mist.
- 31:04Oh, OK. Sierra Mist.
- 31:06So, so Starry was once called Sierra Mist and they changed
- 31:09that and people lost their lost their mind.
- 31:12Yeah. So I don't get it.
- 31:14I mean the a logo and, and and all the logos like you said are
- 31:19now simplified because like they're like busy work or
- 31:22whatever. Yeah.
- 31:23Yeah. They're not, I guess they're not
- 31:25gaudy, I mean. They're just, yeah, they're well
- 31:30and. And it makes, and again, if you
- 31:32see the building that they're, it's like they, things don't
- 31:35look like Denny's anymore. They don't look like Sherry's.
- 31:37They they again, they look like they're in a box, right?
- 31:42The restaurant is now a a oh when you go to Oh my gosh, when
- 31:46you go to Kaluchi Canyon it it all has a very box warehousey
- 31:52feel. Yeah, it's very industrial.
- 31:54That one is very industrial. Like, come on, concrete exposed
- 31:59beams? You know, yes, that yes, that
- 32:01all has that, that all has that kind of same, I don't know, kind
- 32:04of that same feel. It's kind of modern.
- 32:06Deconstructed. Deconstructed.
- 32:08I think that was the word they did.
- 32:09Probably use OK, not so much crap.
- 32:14Well, since we're talking about things that people have been
- 32:16complaining about, let's talk about the NFL male dancers that
- 32:24everybody was losing their minds over that.
- 32:28I it's like, OK, the Seattle Seahawks have had male dancers
- 32:33for years. I mean years.
- 32:36And my husband's going to hate me for this.
- 32:39My husband was a cheerleader back in the 80s.
- 32:43But but whenever I say like he was a cheerleader, he he always
- 32:46corrects me. He's like, we were called yell
- 32:49kings. I'm like, oh, OK, you were a
- 32:51cheerleader, but OK, you know? And he basically did it because
- 32:56he knew that was like, the place he was going to be where he
- 32:59could be around all the girls. Like, you ride, you have
- 33:02practice together, You ride the bus together, You're at these
- 33:05games together. And back then, sure, they were
- 33:07the bottom of the pyramid. They, like, threw the girls up
- 33:11in the air, that kind of thing. Which is probably different now
- 33:13with these male dancers. But male cheerleaders have been
- 33:17around for a long time. This isn't anything new.
- 33:22And I think that it is just my thought is these guys, I think
- 33:27it's mainly guys making a big deal about this because they're
- 33:31mad because now they can't, you know, sexually fantasize about
- 33:34these cheerleaders. And for some reason having these
- 33:38male dancers interferes with this dream that they have.
- 33:42It just reminds me of the guys who think that the stripper
- 33:44likes them. Like that's that's what it
- 33:46reminds me of. You know, that delusion.
- 33:50It's like, it's like, who cares if there's a couple male dancers
- 33:54on the field? Who cares?
- 33:57There's still women out there. I don't.
- 33:58It's not like they took away all the girls.
- 34:01No, but I, but I also saw, so I, I, I follow this gal name.
- 34:05Her name's Brett Cooper. She's a Republican pundit.
- 34:08She's like 2324 years old and she was talking about this.
- 34:12And so she showed collegiate or high school cheerleaders, male
- 34:17male cheerleaders and a very masculine, I guess, you know,
- 34:21doing the the the lifting and of the of.
- 34:24The girls and. Then the Minnesota Vikings and I
- 34:27think the other one I don't was the Falcons, whatever which one
- 34:29they were, and so in a sense they found, I guess the is it
- 34:34the the gayest or fem Femi flaming?
- 34:38I mean, so she, so her video, you know, that's how she
- 34:44contrasted it to get everybody up at arms basically.
- 34:46Right. She's yeah.
- 34:48So she. Because she, because she showed,
- 34:49I guess, in a sense, the least masculine.
- 34:52Right. So she's not upset that there's
- 34:55a male dancer, she's upset that they're gay.
- 34:57Like that's what she's upset about.
- 34:59Not that there's male dancers, she's upset that they're gay,
- 35:02right? Or she's assuming they're gay.
- 35:05Right. That's because of how they are.
- 35:06So if these guys, if these guys were full beards, Bears.
- 35:11I mean they could still be gay. That, like Bear, is a gay man.
- 35:16That is all hairy. Exactly.
- 35:18But but if they all look like, you know, if they all look like
- 35:21hairy bears out there, they wouldn't be having a problem
- 35:23with it. But because because these these
- 35:27new cheerleaders are 125 lbs, you know, sopping wet and
- 35:31they're not not what you I mean, they don't they're not mask.
- 35:34I guess the word is they're not masculine and that's the reason
- 35:37that they're not. Yeah, they're freaking out on
- 35:39those particular situations and. They're freaking out because
- 35:42they think they're gay. Like that's I mean.
- 35:45When you see the video, I'm going to go OK.
- 35:48I mean, well, I mean, but like, but who cares like.
- 35:51I mean who? Cares if they.
- 35:52I, I, and, and honestly, when you watch it Tele, televised,
- 35:57Tele, Tele, Oh my gosh, I don't. When it's televised, you don't.
- 36:01How often do you shoot over to the cheerleaders?
- 36:03Really. Very rarely.
- 36:05Very rarely. Even in the end you and I both
- 36:07been to games, they look like little specks.
- 36:11They look like this. Right.
- 36:13But men still Ogle over them and their outfits are teeny tiny.
- 36:17Like nasty. They're still actualized.
- 36:19It's an outrage to be an outrage.
- 36:22And, and, and while you're on that topic, I love that people
- 36:26think, which is insane, that masculine men are going away.
- 36:32Oh yeah, the alpha male is. The alpha male The alpha male is
- 36:36an an endangered species. It isn't in danger.
- 36:39I personally I don't like. Some of these bullies are.
- 36:42I don't like toxic masculinity. Sorry.
- 36:47I don't like it in the workplace.
- 36:49I don't, I don't. I don't even have friends that I
- 36:51would call toxic that are toxic masculinity.
- 36:54I, I, I, it's like, you already know I don't like Neanderthals.
- 36:59I, I don't have anything in common with Neanderthals if
- 37:01they're dragging their knuckles along the ground.
- 37:04It's like I always love on Facebook when someone doesn't
- 37:07like Cracker Barrel or, or male cheerleaders, they do that meme
- 37:10where it's all the same looking dude, there's twenty of them and
- 37:14they all, they have glasses and a beard and they're whatever.
- 37:17I love that. Guy that's fantasizing about the
- 37:19cheerleaders life but. But they all look like the same
- 37:22and same and same with the the females too.
- 37:26The and they're white and they're all white.
- 37:29The Karens, yeah. Yeah, they're all white.
- 37:32They're all white people. So, and I, I just think it for,
- 37:36I know this is not going to be a popular statement, but I'm
- 37:38looking forward to the day when white people are a minority so
- 37:41they can shut, so they can shut the F up.
- 37:45Why people are scared to be the minority?
- 37:46They are scared. Why is?
- 37:48That because of how we treat them.
- 37:49Exactly, exactly. And it's so it's it's it's to me
- 37:53it's just the it's just absurd. It's ridiculous and it was it
- 37:59was funny was there was just a big a big article about getting
- 38:03rid of the illegal truck driver in California because.
- 38:08Oh, they can't speak English I. Think English.
- 38:10I just saw a headline. I didn't read the article yet
- 38:13but it came up in my feed so I don't know what the So what
- 38:17what. So we, so we have two cases.
- 38:19There's one in California and there's one in the Midwest or
- 38:22something, 2 truck drivers that are duh, one is Ukrainian and
- 38:26one and one is in California and is Mexican and it's like and so
- 38:32or Hispanic. And so I'm like, why are we not,
- 38:35why are we not deporting the Ukrainian?
- 38:37Oh, because he's white. Oh yeah, there's there's over.
- 38:41And there's now that works. There's over 800,000 your white
- 38:46Europeans who who are here illegally and you don't see them
- 38:51being deported. Why, why don't we deport them?
- 38:54Because, oh, they're white. So, so again, it's, it's one of
- 39:00those things where, yeah, I, I feel like the same people bitch
- 39:04about the same stuff over and over.
- 39:06And, and like you said, they're afraid to lose.
- 39:08They're, they're afraid to lose ground in America.
- 39:10I think that that's the they and, but, but I also think
- 39:14hopefully, don't you think, Michelle, I'd like to think that
- 39:17the workplace has changed in my, in my almost 40 years of radio,
- 39:22what what was allowed 20 years ago would not fly today, period.
- 39:26Oh, no, like like the Gary Myreys of the world, which now
- 39:32I'm name dropping. Oh my God, lovely Gary.
- 39:35Like he has like that he was a he's a walking HR violation.
- 39:41Like every time he opens his mouth.
- 39:43I mean, back then, like he got away with some stuff.
- 39:47Yeah, he lucky he wasn't sued, mostly.
- 39:49Right, right. I thought, I thought about that.
- 39:52Gary. I, I, I, I love and adore Gary
- 39:54and we all and we all know that he was joking and and didn't
- 39:57mean anything by it. But in this day and age.
- 40:00He would cross somebody that would that would file an HR
- 40:04against him. Right.
- 40:05Or the potential is very high that he would.
- 40:07Yeah, I will bring up a situation.
- 40:10I don't mean to take us off course, but I was very hurt and
- 40:13I was very disappointed recently.
- 40:16Well, it's been probably about six months, 8 months ago or so,
- 40:19I got turned into HR at work and and I was, yeah, totally taken
- 40:25by surprise. I'm a I'm, I'm a little, I'm
- 40:27more embarrassed by it and more ashamed of it.
- 40:30So what happened was we are judged, remember, on those
- 40:35LPV's. So we're ranked in our company.
- 40:39So explain. What LPV's are?
- 40:41Just people looking at our articles online.
- 40:44Past podcast, okay. Yeah.
- 40:45And so, so just so you know, from a radio point standpoint,
- 40:49you are not, at least at my company, you are judged not on
- 40:53your personality, not on your ability to be on the air, any of
- 40:57these different things. You are now judged on how many
- 41:01views an article you write gets, period.
- 41:03And then you're pitted against each other.
- 41:05You've been a part of this where it's like, well, oh, great job,
- 41:09Rick on that article. But did you see so and So's
- 41:12article? And they're expecting us to be
- 41:13journalists, and we're not journalists in the first place.
- 41:16So, so I had made an offhand comment to a Co worker.
- 41:20Now they're they're anonymous. So I'm not going to drop their
- 41:23name or anything because I'm going to get more in charge.
- 41:26They they didn't tell me who it was, but I knew who it was
- 41:28because I know what I said. And I was talking to a Co worker
- 41:32about the fact that I was not going to hit the goal.
- 41:35And you know how I am about hitting what I right And I just
- 41:40said in passing, if if I don't hit goal, I'm going to hurt
- 41:46somebody now jokingly. Right.
- 41:50Jokingly and I had made the joke and I hadn't made the joke that
- 41:54I was going to send my I was going to made.
- 41:56I made the joke that I was going to spend send my giant yellow
- 41:59truck to the front door. Oh no, in passing.
- 42:05I mean, that's almost as bad as I'm going to go home and get my
- 42:08gun and come back. Well, not even thinking about
- 42:11that. So anyway, so Patty, it was an
- 42:16awkward thing. So we're working in the studio.
- 42:18Patty, a gal named Megan from HR, reaches out to Patty and
- 42:22says, hey, do you have time to talk da, da.
- 42:23And she goes, oh, yeah, da, da, da.
- 42:25And she goes, she goes, I don't know why they want to talk to
- 42:27me. Why HR wants to talk to me.
- 42:29Anyway, I go, I don't know. And so a couple days later I get
- 42:34a call from Megan from HR and she goes, hey, can we talk to
- 42:37you? And I said, yeah, absolutely.
- 42:38And she's like, she goes, yeah, you've said some, you said some
- 42:40stuff to a Co worker recently about hurting, hurting yourself
- 42:45or, or other people. What?
- 42:49And I said it was just about the LP VS.
- 42:51And so I was, I was very upset. So they did not, they did not go
- 42:57to my they did not go to the market manager.
- 42:59They did not go to my boss. They reached out to Patty.
- 43:03I had asked if Patty was safe around me.
- 43:07I I mean because she's a female, not I could see because she's if
- 43:12she works with you like. You're in the show together.
- 43:15Together. Yeah, so hours.
- 43:17So then, so then I got on the, I got on the phone with this, this
- 43:20Megan person and I, I said, Oh my God.
- 43:22I said I'm, I said I, I said I'm sorry, offended.
- 43:25You know how you feel when you realize, oh, you might have,
- 43:27yes, overstepped. I mean, but you know me well
- 43:29enough to know there's not a violent bone in my body.
- 43:32No. Like like at all period, like I
- 43:35would be the least likely ever to do anything a physical.
- 43:38You already know how I I don't like violence, you know.
- 43:42So and they and so she goes, well, we understand that.
- 43:45I mean, and so she goes, well, we're going to send you an
- 43:47e-mail. You just have to confirm that
- 43:49you said these things and that you won't say those things
- 43:51again. So and, and I was, I was pretty
- 43:54hurt. I was pretty upset.
- 43:55I was embarrassed, hurt, angry, all the things you go through
- 43:59because this Co worker just couldn't come to me and talk to
- 44:01me. And so on our backside of our
- 44:04website there's a whistleblower where you can remain anonymous
- 44:08and you can whistleblow if you see something you don't agree
- 44:10with. So it got.
- 44:13When I was there because I would have.
- 44:16Been doing it right it got. It.
- 44:18Got it. Got resolved.
- 44:19But what was interesting is the the HR sidestepped the market
- 44:23manager and sidestepped my boss. And so they didn't even know
- 44:26what was going on. So they were pretty upset by the
- 44:30fact that they were talking to Patty.
- 44:32Right. So, and I know who said it, and
- 44:37Patty said she could not believe it, that when I saw that person,
- 44:41how nice I was to them, like just just didn't.
- 44:46She goes, She goes, you act. You acted like nothing ever
- 44:49happened. I'm like, yeah, because it was
- 44:50anonymous. I know who I said it to.
- 44:52There was only one person I said it to.
- 44:54I knew who it was and I said, I said I can't.
- 44:56Acknowledge that you know who the person is, so.
- 44:59And she goes, I'm and she goes, I'm surprised you're not
- 45:01retaliating, you're not upset, you're not that.
- 45:03Type. Of person I'm not if you know
- 45:05anything about me, I was more embarrassed, right?
- 45:08That I, that I, that I misstepped.
- 45:10And then I just realized man, OK, watch your tongue, right?
- 45:14Yeah. And and this person, apparently
- 45:16I did not realize this had gone to our boss in previous months.
- 45:19And so I have another Co worker and myself when it was coming to
- 45:22those LPV's, we were competing. Mm hmm.
- 45:25We've talked about this where I, if I, if someone wants to
- 45:27compete with me, it's not not going to end well.
- 45:31So what happened was she, that person had already talked to my
- 45:35boss about I'm really worried about so and so and Rick and,
- 45:39and, and my boss goes, they're fine.
- 45:43Let them, That's just who they are.
- 45:44Let them do what they're going to do.
- 45:47They're they're not a they're not going to hurt anybody.
- 45:50They're not a threat to anybody, right?
- 45:53Or to each other. This is their personalities.
- 45:56This is this person new like? They were, they were they the
- 46:00good news, they moved on to corporate.
- 46:02So they, they work at corporate now.
- 46:03And so they're not, they're not in our building.
- 46:05So, but I just then I just realized and that was a stark
- 46:10reminder. Oh, mind your PS and QS.
- 46:13So I'm not defending myself. Hey, I, I messed up.
- 46:15I, I even told the, I said, can I apologize?
- 46:17And they're like, no, we don't. You're not allowed to know who
- 46:20it is. And I go I know and I go I know
- 46:22who it is. So I felt the best way to handle
- 46:25it was just be nice to them and not not ever mention it.
- 46:28And I never did. I never mentioned it that just
- 46:30be. Careful what you say around.
- 46:32That you learn a lesson, you learn a lesson.
- 46:33So it takes you back to the Gary Meyer thing you just said that
- 46:36that this that it really has changed and you got to be you
- 46:39got to be careful. But you know, I'm saying, yeah,
- 46:43so I've had a few run insurance through my career that I'm.
- 46:47I've had some couple spotty things where I'm glad I got
- 46:52through those things. It didn't get sued.
- 46:55Well, I don't know about getting sued.
- 46:56I didn't do anything that would get me sued.
- 46:58But you know you. I mean, it's all about growing
- 47:01up. It's even at middle age.
- 47:03You make mistakes, Michelle. Oh, definitely.
- 47:06You say things like you didn't say that like you weren't really
- 47:11like that's just who you are as a person.
- 47:13But like you would say that in joke and just and for those of
- 47:17us who know, you know that that's who you are as a person.
- 47:20But if people don't know you know your personality, then
- 47:25yeah, they would totally take it differently.
- 47:26Well. Just was intended.
- 47:28Yeah, just like when we're in a competitive situation, you know
- 47:30my favorite line, I'm gonna gut you like a fish.
- 47:33Remember I've said that. A billion.
- 47:34Yes. But I've said it with a lot more
- 47:36choice words in a Rick rant. Right.
- 47:39We haven't talked about a Rick. Rant.
- 47:40We have not. We'll do that.
- 47:41We'll say that for another podcast.
- 47:42I don't even know. I don't even know if I can
- 47:44replicate a Rick rant. I know.
- 47:46They have to be spontaneous. There's.
- 47:48Yeah, yeah, yeah. It has to be totally.
- 47:50They're totally spontaneous. In there, like I don't think you
- 47:53ever did you Rick, rant at me. No.
- 47:57I don't think you ever it would be, I would be in the room with
- 48:00you and you would be Rick ranting about somebody else, but
- 48:03it was. So what makes the Rick Rat
- 48:05special is it's it's always at the situation and never at a.
- 48:10Person. Person, Yeah.
- 48:12It's always at a situation. If you're going to get a Rick
- 48:14rat, it's always at the situation.
- 48:16It's never at the person, no. No, but when you're in it,
- 48:21you're like, holy shit. Oh, yeah.
- 48:24What did it was so funny was Jesse, she's still with us.
- 48:28She's a sales manager. She said that when she came
- 48:31first come to work at Town Square, she'd heard about a Rick
- 48:33rant because I never heard a Rick rant.
- 48:36And then? One day something went wrong.
- 48:38Since she went, something went wrong and her and her cubicle
- 48:41was right next to Jamie Stickles office and she said she had
- 48:44never heard more colorful F words in a row.
- 48:47And brilliantly, brilliantly, as she said, executed.
- 48:51So, so and she goes. She goes and she goes.
- 48:53It was a thing of beauty. Yeah, they are masterful.
- 48:58I do have to say. It's some good entertainment,
- 49:01let me tell you. Yeah.
- 49:02People are, and when they happen, you're like, what?
- 49:04The he has, yeah. When you're in it with you,
- 49:08you're just like, what is going on, right?
- 49:11Like I had nothing. I'm like, I had nothing to do
- 49:13with this. I don't know.
- 49:14Why? But but it's such a it's almost
- 49:17like an Incredible Hulk thing where it's such a rarity.
- 49:20It's not like it happens like every day or even every.
- 49:22Couple. No, they are very rare.
- 49:24I think you have to like be really tipped over the edge
- 49:28when. I met dinner my.
- 49:29Like they like build up and build up and build up inside you
- 49:33and then something happens and you just.
- 49:35Like and it's not and it's so funny.
- 49:38It's it's what makes them hilarious is I'm not throw, I
- 49:40don't throw anything or any. It's not that.
- 49:42It's just words. Yeah, it's just you like ratchet
- 49:46it up. It's just yeah, right.
- 49:51And then it's and then it's just the the F words go every, every
- 49:55combination you can think of. The creative language of of the
- 50:00of the, of the adversary is always hilarious.
- 50:02Yeah, yeah. So.
- 50:04I think even I learned some F word combinations from you.
- 50:08I didn't even know and so and I'm the cusser of the two of.
- 50:12Us well, I learned I mean it's so funny so around this person
- 50:14that that filed the HR complaint, I went oh crap.
- 50:17You know, people around me like Patty or the people I have seen
- 50:21on an occasion of Rick rat they've seen it so they're used
- 50:24to it like like Paul's seen it. My bosses have seen it.
- 50:27I mean it's not like it doesn't harm anybody.
- 50:29It's just a there it goes, you know, great.
- 50:32It's just you just getting out. The frustration.
- 50:36Built on. Right, the frustration of it all
- 50:38and she was one of those people that I went oh, I went my little
- 50:41brain goes Ding Ding, Ding, Ding.
- 50:42You can never do that around her because she is going to go tell
- 50:47even and it had it didn't even The funny thing it didn't
- 50:49involve her. That's what's so that that it
- 50:52was so interesting that that and and as you've learned, So here's
- 50:55what you've learned. If you if and you and I've been,
- 50:57I've been a manager for a lot of years.
- 50:59So here's what I learned. If two people are talking about
- 51:01something and there's a third person that just happens to hear
- 51:04something and doesn't like what you're talking about, it doesn't
- 51:07matter what these two people were talking about.
- 51:09You still did you still upset somebody, But you can sit there
- 51:13and go. But but I was only talking to
- 51:14Michelle. I wasn't talking to, you know,
- 51:16Sarah Beth down the hallway. Well, Sarah Beth heard it.
- 51:20Yeah, and has a right to file a complaint against you.
- 51:24But I'm like, but I wasn't talking to Sarah Beth.
- 51:26Well, she heard. Well.
- 51:29Lessons. You learned.
- 51:30Yep, sorry about that. All right, we're running short
- 51:32on time, but I do want to let's talk about the blossom thing.
- 51:35And we had several other things. We always talk about, but I do
- 51:38ask a Blossom fan. Yes, Blossom.
- 51:41I mean, not massive, but I've really loved her show.
- 51:43Probably Blossom and Punky Brewster and yeah I.
- 51:46I think those are all cheats I love.
- 51:48Yes, and there I had read that there was going to be a Blossom
- 51:52reboot because Maya Bialik has talked about it, but she just
- 51:57announced that it's being scrapped by Disney, so it's not
- 52:01going to happen now, which I was completely disappointed.
- 52:05I think it would have been an amazing show.
- 52:06And if you think about all the reboots that we've had, so like
- 52:10we just mentioned, like Punky Brewster, the full house one Sex
- 52:14in the City has a reboot 90210 It's like they they've all been
- 52:18reboot. So why why not blossom?
- 52:20I think it would have been a good reboot.
- 52:23And then I was thinking, well, what other shows have not had a
- 52:27reboot that I would love to see? Golden Girls.
- 52:29Golden Girls, for one. Oh yeah.
- 52:32The facts of life, which they've talked about that, but.
- 52:35Some, Yeah, one of the one of them, one of.
- 52:37Them didn't they sabotage or they wanted more?
- 52:39Sabotages. So they so they were going to go
- 52:41on as a team, yes. Going to go on as a team.
- 52:44And then one of them sabotaged for more money or did something.
- 52:47And you know what? It always shocks me because I do
- 52:50love her and adore her. Nancy McKeon, who played Joe who
- 52:54who has not been in a lot of the reboot or a lot of the movies
- 52:57and different things because she's been busy doing other
- 52:59things, right. One of my favorite characters.
- 53:01You would think that she would be the one not wanting to do
- 53:03this stuff. And it's not her.
- 53:06Like it's not, it's not Joe, it's not Nancy McKeon.
- 53:08I want, I don't want to, I don't want to pick on Blair, but.
- 53:11I was going to say, it's the actress who played Blair, isn't
- 53:14it? Yeah, I know it is.
- 53:15Lisa Winchell and I, I think I and she's and she looks the same
- 53:18age. I mean, she is shockingly looks
- 53:21identical. I mean, she looks like, you
- 53:22know, even today. I mean if you have a good
- 53:24plastic surgeon you can still look.
- 53:25Good. Well, I know that Mindy Kahn had
- 53:27been talking about it on a podcast, and she goes, yeah, she
- 53:29goes. I won't tell you who it is, but
- 53:31if you go to my Instagram, she'll be the only one that's
- 53:33missing. And so you go there and you're
- 53:35like, Oh, well, there's, there's two.
- 53:37Missing. And there's Natalie and there's
- 53:39Joe. Where's Where's Blair?
- 53:41I'm like Blair? Blair got kicked.
- 53:45And also designing women. I don't know if you watch that
- 53:48show, but I loved that show. I.
- 53:49Am not as familiar with designing women.
- 53:51I mean, I know other. Girls Shows.
- 53:52So I know Dixie Carter's on it. Delta Burke.
- 53:54I mean, you know, I am AI. Am Mark who's in hacks now and I
- 53:57love hacks. Hacks is.
- 53:59Amazing. I do have the ability as you
- 54:01know, I am a a pop pop junkie or pop, you know pop junkie.
- 54:05So I I know I know who usually is in a lot of stuff.
- 54:08So perfect strangers. Oh, that's a great one.
- 54:10That'll be a good reboot of Wings.
- 54:13Nobody remembers Wings and we're always like.
- 54:15See again, Christopher Nard, Tim Daly.
- 54:18So I I was just for those are great shows.
- 54:22I think I was just a little too young.
- 54:24I kind of well, I will. You're older.
- 54:26Than I am what are you. Talking about I think the big
- 54:28deal is I, I, I was thinking about the 90s and why I seem to
- 54:31have missed a lot of those shows.
- 54:33I was doing nights on radio at the time, 6 to midnight.
- 54:37So you would how did I miss, how did I miss all that primetime
- 54:40TV? Well, guess what, I was working
- 54:426 to midnight. I worked 6:00 to midnight.
- 54:44Oh my gosh, almost up to the early 2000s.
- 54:47I mean, I was, I was, again, we've talked about I was not the
- 54:50I was not the morning guy or the star person at all, not even
- 54:54close. I was lucky to do nights.
- 54:57I suck. I suck so bad.
- 54:59I had to do nights a lot of for a lot of years.
- 55:03Did you because you all you went right into middays, right?
- 55:05Or did you do nights? No, I went right into middays
- 55:08because I'm right again. Back then that was the only time
- 55:11slot for females, remember? Like.
- 55:13That's. The place that you went and
- 55:14that's the only place that you went or did you do morning Co
- 55:17host? Did you do 6 to midnight at KXTD
- 55:19or not? I would fill in for Todd Lyons
- 55:25because. He did the first got started was
- 55:26more midnight to six, I guess. Yes, midnight to six on the.
- 55:29Weekends. On the weekends and then you did
- 55:32get like the midday slot. No.
- 55:35Then I went to Prosser right and got the midday slot and then
- 55:38came there and then KFFM. Got it.
- 55:41Got it. I see.
- 55:42Yeah. That's my pedigree.
- 55:44Yeah, I spent, I spent a lot of years doing the night time
- 55:47because I, you know, I and I'll leave you with 1 great story,
- 55:52which always hurt my feelings too.
- 55:54Mike McCabe, you know Mike McCabe the weather guy.
- 55:58Yeah, over at Kaima in your market and keeper in my market,
- 56:02yeah. So he and I, believe it or not,
- 56:04have known each other for a long, long time because he's.
- 56:07From Idaho, right? He is from Sunnyside, he's from
- 56:10Sunnyside, WA, but he had made his way to Lewiston, ID and so.
- 56:15He. Yes, we know each other.
- 56:16So he, we were both working at Cat FM and he really wanted to
- 56:20get. So he'd done a little bit of
- 56:21weather reporting, but he wanted to get back into it.
- 56:25So what happened was they felt that he was a better air talent
- 56:31on the radio and they put him, they slotted him 6 to midnight
- 56:34and I had to do midnight to six. And then and then he ended up
- 56:37doing weather at KLEW, which is the Lewiston TV station.
- 56:41And that's how he ended up at KYNA.
- 56:43He transferred later. But it always it always hurt my
- 56:46feelings that they picked Mike and Mikey and I are great buds
- 56:50over these years. But the hilarity now looking
- 56:53like well, look who's had the great an amazing radio career.
- 56:58Right. I mean, and he and he even
- 57:00acknowledged, even Mikey acknowledges.
- 57:02And then you've had an incredible career and I really
- 57:03have been blessed and had an amazing radio career.
- 57:05But back in those early days, Michelle, I got I, I people got
- 57:10picked over me every. I mean, it was like being on a
- 57:12team. I always got.
- 57:13I never got picked. Right.
- 57:15I mean, kind of the same thing kind of happened to me.
- 57:17I was so young was part of the problem too.
- 57:20And being young and a female back then like we just
- 57:24mentioned, I only females only did the midday time slot back
- 57:27then. But everybody just would always
- 57:30consider me the kid or I didn't. I never had enough experience no
- 57:35matter how much I worked or how better I improved.
- 57:38Like I never had enough experience, like I never was
- 57:42going to get a full time time slot at KX Double D because of
- 57:45that. I think they just never viewed
- 57:47me as having ever experiences. And in today's world, it's such
- 57:52a joke because you can have as many females back-to-back as you
- 57:56want. You can have as many female
- 57:57artists back-to-back, sweepers back-to-back.
- 58:00We now put nobody with experience in morning Drive.
- 58:04No, that's how. I was told, like, women aren't
- 58:07going to like you. Right.
- 58:08And oh, and oh, you got to pay your dues.
- 58:12Yes, our good friend Cheyenne, who I've known Cheyenne.
- 58:16Cheyenne was in radio for a year and a half before she went to a
- 58:20major market, Phoenix, AZ. Because they don't look at that
- 58:24anymore. Back in the day, you work in
- 58:26Yakima, Yeah. You're not working in Seattle or
- 58:29Portland. Yeah.
- 58:30No. You're gonna.
- 58:30You're gonna have to work your way up, yeah.
- 58:33Market, remember that the old radio, remember the old radio
- 58:35dues and you got to pay your dues and all those different
- 58:38things. And now in, in in LA, they'll
- 58:42just slide. Well, you never been on the
- 58:43radio. Great.
- 58:44You're a social influencer. So good.
- 58:47Yep, you're in right, right. Well, now they're like, well,
- 58:49how many YouTube followers do you have?
- 58:50How many Instagram followers do you have?
- 58:52And we slot people based on that nowadays.
- 58:55So it's kind of it's kind of fascinating.
- 58:56I will leave you with two reboots out that I think would
- 58:58be awesome. So if you're talking my favorite
- 59:01shows. As for me, Silver Spoons.
- 59:05Yes, Oh my gosh. And family ties.
- 59:09Yes. Michael J Fox to me, if you're
- 59:11asking, you know, for me, Michael J Fox, family ties and
- 59:15silver spoons are like my childhood.
- 59:17Like yes. Right, so.
- 59:20If you're talking, I don't know. Superman's already.
- 59:22Superman's already been rebooted, right?
- 59:25A billion times and I'm a little bummed, you know, I mean, again,
- 59:28I, I try not to put politics into into it because hey,
- 59:30everybody has a right to their opinion.
- 59:32But Dean Kane has now been is is the Superman that's, you know,
- 59:35joined ice ice. Right.
- 59:37You know, and then, and then even Rick Schroeder gave money
- 59:39to the Kyle Rittenhouse kid, shot up those people.
- 59:44So I don't try. I mean, I try not to hold that
- 59:47because I tried not to hold the TV show again.
- 59:49You know, I try to enjoy the TV show for what it was.
- 59:53Right. Not the personality of the actor
- 59:55or actress that has sadly disappointed me.
- 59:58Right. Well, I mean.
- 1:00:00I'm sure it's going to be more for both of us.
- 1:00:02But so for me, because, yeah, for the 90s, I was a kind of a
- 1:00:04Blair, I was kind of a blank because of all the radio work I
- 1:00:07was doing. But yeah, a team silver spoon,
- 1:00:10Family time A. Team has been rebooted.
- 1:00:12Yeah, that was. So has like MacGyver.
- 1:00:16I think even another writer has. Yep, Yep.
- 1:00:18Knight Rider, MacGyver. See, those are my, like, right
- 1:00:21in the heart of my, of my, yeah, right in the heart of my
- 1:00:23childhood. For me, of course, doing
- 1:00:25nighttime radio. I miss Seinfeld and Friends, and
- 1:00:28I know of them. I know of I, I mean, again, I
- 1:00:31know those shows who starred in them, but I'm not as passionate
- 1:00:35because I just didn't, I didn't get to see them first run.
- 1:00:40And this is a reboot right here. If you're curious, what's a
- 1:00:42reboot? This is a.
- 1:00:44This is a reboot. I mean, it is, yeah.
- 1:00:47Did you see the comment from one of actually one of our former Co
- 1:00:51workers shut it down, Shut it down on our Instagram.
- 1:00:57That was like, oh, seeing you 2 together warms my heart or
- 1:01:01something like that. And I was like, oh, thank you.
- 1:01:04So. So yeah, our reboot is at least
- 1:01:08affecting a few people. All right, I love.
- 1:01:10I love it. I love.
- 1:01:11It Yeah. Speaking of that, please
- 1:01:13subscribe to our podcast, share it with your friends so that it
- 1:01:16gets out there. Throw some topics out.
- 1:01:19We, you know what? We've not encouraged you to
- 1:01:21throw some topics out if you've got some topics if you want to.
- 1:01:23You want to know more about my psyche or Michelle's psyche or
- 1:01:27questions you've been dying to ask?
- 1:01:29As you can tell, I've been incredibly transparent on this
- 1:01:31podcast. Too much.
- 1:01:34Yeah, yeah. Too much, I probably get it in
- 1:01:36trouble for the HR situation. Because I'm sure because.
- 1:01:39That wasn't that. Aren't those things supposed to
- 1:01:40be private? I didn't say names.
- 1:01:43I. Did you?
- 1:01:43What did you sign? I signed a letter acknowledging
- 1:01:47that I had said what I said. That was it.
- 1:01:48But nothing. I was like, oh, you can't.
- 1:01:50Talk about and they you can't said well, this wasn't going in
- 1:01:52your file. This is just a a reminder that
- 1:01:54you know, don't go against the employee handbook.
- 1:01:57Shit, I go against the employee handbook every day.
- 1:01:59What are you talking about? Why did you have to sign
- 1:02:02something? It's like a thing in your no.
- 1:02:03Just an e-mail. It was an acknowledgement.
- 1:02:05It wasn't. It was like I I received your
- 1:02:08e-mail. Thank you, Grandmaster.
- 1:02:11I will be better. I promise.
- 1:02:14I promise. Be better.
- 1:02:19Well, thank you for listening to Rick and I'm Michelle Chick.
