- 0:14Speaker 2: wasp's nest for that time you forgot to roll up
- 0:18Speaker 2: your windows in the car wash.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Yeah, a remote control would have come in handy.
- 0:25Speaker 5: Then, well, life doesn't always give you time to change

- 1:13Speaker 6: and E College Station, Bryant.
- 1:15Speaker 7: Family owned and operated since nineteen seventy two. Stepcheck Service Center,
- 1:19Speaker 7: twenty two hundred longmyre just down from the post office
- 1:22Speaker 7: in College Station. If you've seen the Peter Jackson documentary
- 1:29Speaker 7: on the Beatles, you saw how this song kind of
- 1:33Speaker 7: came about, like out of mid air. Welcome in, thanks
- 1:41Speaker 7: for being with us on a Tuesday. This portion of
- 1:43Speaker 7: the program brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine.
- 1:50Speaker 7: A couple of well, there's there's one big anniversary today.
- 2:00Speaker 7: On this day, fifty six years ago, Chicago Bears running
- 2:07Speaker 7: back Brian Piccolow died at the age of twenty six
- 2:12Speaker 7: from cancer. Out of it came the nineteen seventy one
- 2:19Speaker 7: film Brian's Song, starring James Conn and Billy D. Williams
- 2:26Speaker 7: as Gail Sayers. We'll talk about that coming up. We're
- 2:34Speaker 7: going to hear from Ryan Targosh, the coach of the
- 2:38Speaker 7: Brass Valley Bombers. So is it only in Major Lee?
- 2:45Speaker 7: I just thought about this. Is it only a Major
- 2:48Speaker 7: League Baseball where there's a manager, And why is it
- 2:53Speaker 7: that you have to get to Major League Baseball to
- 2:56Speaker 7: be called a manager and everyone else from like college
- 3:00Speaker 7: on down, is a coach in baseball? Somebody have the
- 3:06Speaker 7: answer to that. I'm stumped. We're going to hear from
- 3:16Speaker 7: everyone's favorite coach slash manager, Jim Schlasnagel. It seems like
- 3:27Speaker 7: I don't ever come on the air or ever go
- 3:30Speaker 7: anywhere and people go, hey, why don't you play more
- 3:33Speaker 7: Jim Schlasnagel. Why aren't we hearing from Jim Schlosnagel. So
- 3:39Speaker 7: today we will. We're also going to hear from Georgia
- 3:44Speaker 7: coach Wes Johnson. I don't think the Bulldogs were expecting
- 3:50Speaker 7: to play tonight, but they are. We'll talk about that.
- 3:54Speaker 7: And in the second hour, one of Greg McElroy's guests,
- 4:00Speaker 7: Greg McElroy, has a podcast and YouTube video from ESPN
- 4:07Speaker 7: always College Football. We had Mike Elko on. We're going
- 4:12Speaker 7: to hear that conversation, and we have Mallory. So that
- 4:18Speaker 7: is today's program. We're working on several things for the future,
- 4:30Speaker 7: our annual visit. I got to tell you, the end
- 4:34Speaker 7: of the month is really snuck up on me this week.
- 4:39Speaker 7: My time is running down for a while, and I
- 4:45Speaker 7: have a lot to do, and it's kind of snuck
- 4:47Speaker 7: up on me, and I've got guests to get in
- 4:49Speaker 7: before I leave, and one of those is our annual
- 4:55Speaker 7: visit with Rich Shay from Major League Eating on the
- 4:58Speaker 7: Hot Dog Eating Content Test to Cody Island. Most of
- 5:04Speaker 7: you know I've been a part of that, and I
- 5:08Speaker 7: will visit with Rich Shay next week or maybe the
- 5:19Speaker 7: week after. We'll see how what his schedule is and
- 5:22Speaker 7: how that plays out. Okay, and I'm efforting another guest
- 5:28Speaker 7: that I'd rather not discuss yet, but when she's on,
- 5:35Speaker 7: you'll know it. WEP. There's a hint okay, right now,
- 5:41Speaker 7: elimination game going on and West Virginia is leading Troy
- 5:48Speaker 7: seven to nothing in the seventh inning. The second elimination game,
- 5:53Speaker 7: which starts at six o'clock, will be Georgia and Texas. Okay,
- 6:04Speaker 7: and everyone who follows the SEC knows that the Bulldogs
- 6:13Speaker 7: own the Longhorns, especially in football, and in fact, the
- 6:17Speaker 7: Georgia crowd was channing Saturday night just like football. I
- 6:22Speaker 7: like that was that was That was clever. I don't
- 6:27Speaker 7: think Georgia expected to be in an elimination game tonight,
- 6:32Speaker 7: but they are because they lost to Oklahoma. We will
- 6:35Speaker 7: hear about that coming up here in a little bit,
- 6:41Speaker 7: so we'll keep tabs on Troy and West Virginia. That
- 6:48Speaker 7: winner will play North Carolina tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock.
- 6:54Speaker 7: They would have to win two games against the tar Heels. Apparently,
- 7:03Speaker 7: Clemson catcher Nate Savoy has announced his commitment to Texas
- 7:08Speaker 7: A and M via social media. He had three twenty
- 7:12Speaker 7: nine with sixteen home runs, thirteen doubles, and fifty two
- 7:14Speaker 7: ribbis for the Tigers. This last season was third team
- 7:18Speaker 7: All acc The Aggies have five transfer portal commits, including Savoy,
- 7:25Speaker 7: TCU infielder Jack Bell, pitcher Johnny Nunez from Witchshaw State,
- 7:35Speaker 7: Jace Evangelista, right hander from UNLV, and a first baseman
- 7:41Speaker 7: slash outfielder from Western Kentucky, Lane Arroyos. The Rangers played
- 7:47Speaker 7: terrible last night, especially in the first inning, lost to
- 7:51Speaker 7: the Twins four to two. They cannot get back to
- 7:57Speaker 7: five hundred. They will try again tonight. Kumar Rocker on
- 8:03Speaker 7: the mound. He's been much better at home. Rangers thirty
- 8:07Speaker 7: five and thirty seven now on the season. The good
- 8:14Speaker 7: news is they play in the American League West. Also
- 8:18Speaker 7: the good news Tigers beat the Astros last night nine
- 8:23Speaker 7: to three. Don't blame your don Alvarez man. He is
- 8:32Speaker 7: right now. He is in lying to win a triple crown.
- 8:34Speaker 7: I don't know if anybody's paying attention to that. I
- 8:36Speaker 7: know it's early to start focusing on that stuff. But
- 8:41Speaker 7: he leads the league in batting average, home runs in
- 8:43Speaker 7: RBI right now. But the Tigers, they're just too much
- 8:51Speaker 7: for the Astros. They'll play again tonight. Framber Valdez goes
- 8:57Speaker 7: against his old team. He's three and five with a
- 9:01Speaker 7: four to four er. I don't think he has hit
- 9:07Speaker 7: his own catcher yet by crossing him up with a pitch.
- 9:13Speaker 7: I'm not sure about that. He will take on Hunter Brown,
- 9:19Speaker 7: who comes off the injured list for the last two
- 9:24Speaker 7: months with a bad right shoulder. He started really well.
- 9:30Speaker 7: I will see how he is in his first night back.
- 9:35Speaker 7: We will have that game for you at six forty
- 9:38Speaker 7: pre game tonight here on the Zone. Apparently, in the
- 9:44Speaker 7: major leagues, you can wear uniforms celebrating Pride Month, but
- 9:54Speaker 7: you cannot wear uniforms with Bible verses written on your caps.
- 10:00Speaker 7: Major League Baseball is issued a warning and double secret
- 10:05Speaker 7: probation for players who did that. Friday Night, right In
- 10:11Speaker 7: and pitcher Land and Route, and a pair of relievers JT.
- 10:19Speaker 7: Brubaker and Ryan Walker also had Bible versus on their hats.
- 10:29Speaker 7: Another reliever refused to wear a Pride night cap. Major
- 10:36Speaker 7: League Baseball says the writing on the cap violates our
- 10:40Speaker 7: rules and is consistent with normal practice. We have warned
- 10:45Speaker 7: the players about future violations. What would they do in
- 10:49Speaker 7: the future? What would they do? I want to say
- 11:05Speaker 7: a lot of things, but I think I'll withhold that
- 11:08Speaker 7: the opinions expressed on my show are my own and
- 11:12Speaker 7: do not necessarily reflect the staff, the management, or the
- 11:15Speaker 7: ownership of Brian Broadcasting, although they should. Paul fine Baum
- 11:22Speaker 7: is going to receive the Sports Media Lifetime Achievement Award.
- 11:30Speaker 7: Let's see, I'm trying to think about the Lifetime Achievement
- 11:41Speaker 7: Award July one during the Sports Media Award ceremony. So
- 11:50Speaker 7: good for him. I don't know if you saw this,
- 11:55Speaker 7: but Alden Smith died, the former NFL player. His family
- 12:00Speaker 7: is going to donate his brain to the experts in
- 12:05Speaker 7: Boston who study CTA, chronic traumatic in cephalopathy. We have
- 12:13Speaker 7: talked to the folks up there several times about their
- 12:17Speaker 7: studies with this. Smith died Saturday. No cause of death
- 12:23Speaker 7: has yet been given. He did have substance abuse issues
- 12:30Speaker 7: throughout his career, but people who were with him didn't
- 12:34Speaker 7: think that's what happened on Saturday. They have set the
- 12:40Speaker 7: tea times for the US Open in New York on Thursday.
- 12:48Speaker 7: Scotti Scheffler will tee off at seven fourteen am. That's
- 12:54Speaker 7: New York time. That would be six fourteen Texas time.
- 12:58Speaker 7: He is playing with JJ Spawn and amateur Mason Howe.
- 13:04Speaker 7: He will tee off on Friday at one twenty in
- 13:08Speaker 7: the afternoon. They are already talking about Shinnecock. Of all
- 13:17Speaker 7: the US Open rounds played and the five hundred and
- 13:21Speaker 7: twenty four golfers, I think I saw this correctly, only
- 13:26Speaker 7: three have finished under par for the four rounds. It
- 13:33Speaker 7: is a beast. So that begins on Thursday. John Tortorella
- 13:42Speaker 7: is not returning to the Vegas Golden Knights led them
- 13:46Speaker 7: to the Stanley Cup Final a surprise higher with eight
- 13:50Speaker 7: games remaining in the regular season, including the playoffs. He
- 13:55Speaker 7: went twenty one to eight and one and says he'd
- 14:01Speaker 7: like to coach next year. General manager Kelly McCrimmon who
- 14:05Speaker 7: fired head coach Bruce Cassidy with eight games left in
- 14:09Speaker 7: the regular season, said, we thank towards for the guidance
- 14:12Speaker 7: he provided our team when the decision was made to
- 14:16Speaker 7: bring him to Vegas. We needed an immediate impact towards
- 14:20Speaker 7: experience and leadership. Proved to be the boost that we
- 14:22Speaker 7: were looking for to guide us to the Stanley Cup final.
- 14:26Speaker 7: But you know he ain't coming back, not good enough.
- 14:34Speaker 7: I guess he needed to win the Cup to stay
- 14:38Speaker 7: the head coach. It's a crazy business, and they changed
- 14:42Speaker 7: coaches in hockey about his frequently, more frequently, I think
- 14:45Speaker 7: than any other sport. We're going to the eighth inning
- 14:49Speaker 7: with West Virginia leading Troy seven to nothing in that
- 14:52Speaker 7: elimination game in Omaha, and boxer Floyd Mayweather is facing
- 14:57Speaker 7: two felony theft charges with intent to defraud by passing
- 15:03Speaker 7: a bad check to buy a two hundred thousand dollars
- 15:07Speaker 7: watch in Las Vegas. Mayweather wasn't in Clark County courtroom
- 15:13Speaker 7: for a hearing yesterday, represented by attorneys. The official charges
- 15:18Speaker 7: steff value one hundred thousand dollars or more and draw
- 15:22Speaker 7: or pass the check with intent to defraud with a
- 15:25Speaker 7: value twelve hundred dollars or greater. The original original complaint
- 15:30Speaker 7: came on April twenty seventh. Then complaint allegency wrote a
- 15:36Speaker 7: two hundred thousand dollars check from a Wells Fargo Bank
- 15:39Speaker 7: account to Gold and Beyond, a high end Las Vegas
- 15:43Speaker 7: resale boutique on New Year's Eve day of twenty twenty four.
- 15:50Speaker 7: The complaint allegency wrote the check when he had insufficient money, property,
- 15:54Speaker 7: or credit to account or pay it in full, claims.
- 15:58Speaker 7: Mayweather wrote the check in exchange for obtaining property and services,
- 16:02Speaker 7: knowing that check would not be paid when presented? Did
- 16:06Speaker 7: it knowingly? Floniously? I like that word that would that
- 16:11Speaker 7: would get you some points and without lawful authority? So
- 16:20Speaker 7: there you go. Money Mayweather, who has made I don't
- 16:26Speaker 7: know half a billion dollars in his career, but I
- 16:33Speaker 7: think it was the great Patrick Ewing who said, yes,
- 16:37Speaker 7: we make a lot of money, but we spend a
- 16:42Speaker 7: lot of money. All Right, We're gonna hear from Brasis
- 16:47Speaker 7: Vallet Bomber's coach, Ryan Targosh after this for Anco Insurance.
- 16:53Speaker 8: Inco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 16:57Speaker 8: you more choices, better value and even greater expertise. While
- 17:00Speaker 8: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 17:03Speaker 8: you know and trust now with even more to offer,
- 17:05Speaker 8: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're
- 17:09Speaker 8: still committed to protecting what matters most with the personalized
- 17:12Speaker 8: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 17:15Speaker 8: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 17:19Speaker 8: co Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 17:23Speaker 9: It's Tech Saggs Live, brought to you by David garter Sjewelers.
- 17:26Speaker 10: Markmanhawk is one of the most successful actors A and
- 17:28Speaker 10: M has ever produced.
- 17:29Speaker 4: When did you know that Dunton Ranch.
- 17:31Speaker 8: Was going to hit?
- 17:31Speaker 11: You know, you never really know something's going to take
- 17:34Speaker 11: off or not.
- 17:35Speaker 12: You know, I felt like it was a kind of
- 17:37Speaker 12: I mean, I wanted to.
- 17:39Speaker 13: Be in that world.
- 17:40Speaker 12: I've wanted to be in that world for a while
- 17:41Speaker 12: and just never really had any opportunities on h on
- 17:47Speaker 12: Yellowstone and then this came. And then you know, I know,
- 17:51Speaker 12: everybody loves ripping bath and so there was I thought
- 17:56Speaker 12: there was a good chance of it popping off. And
- 18:00Speaker 12: then you know, there's always the odd jemps that people
- 18:03Speaker 12: are like.
- 18:03Speaker 13: Now over that, but I'm glad. I'm glad people are
- 18:07Speaker 13: liking it.
- 18:07Speaker 10: Yeah, you know the beauty of it. I was talking
- 18:09Speaker 10: about this earlier. A lot of times I think spinoffs
- 18:11Speaker 10: don't work right. There's something about it, maybe the timing,
- 18:16Speaker 10: but this feels like an extension of the Yellowstone Universe.
- 18:19Speaker 14: Techags live weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone.
- 18:26Speaker 15: You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd. Can't roller
- 18:29Speaker 15: skating in a buffalo hurt? You can't roller skate in
- 18:33Speaker 15: a buffalo herd, but you can be happy A few
- 18:35Speaker 15: of mine too. You can't take a shower in a
- 18:38Speaker 15: paracut cage. Can't take a shower in a paracut cage.
- 18:42Speaker 15: Can't take a shower in a parricue cage, but you
- 18:45Speaker 15: can be happy. I few mine too. I already gotta does.
- 18:49Speaker 15: Put your mind to it.
- 18:50Speaker 7: Knuckle down, buckle down, do it, do it, do it,
- 18:53Speaker 7: the great Roger Meller. You can't go fishing and a
- 18:58Speaker 7: watermelon patch, and you can't roller skate a buffalo heard
- 19:03Speaker 7: Thanks for being with us. I got to tell you
- 19:07Speaker 7: I would give you a prize if you could prove
- 19:09Speaker 7: that you have heard that song anywhere else on the
- 19:11Speaker 7: radio today, and unless you're listening like twenty four hours
- 19:16Speaker 7: a day to Willie's roadhouse on satellite radio, you're not
- 19:22Speaker 7: going to hear that song anywhere else.
- 19:25Speaker 16: I just.
- 19:27Speaker 7: I'm pretty confident of that. Willie may play that song,
- 19:32Speaker 7: but I doubted I'm talking about our Willie radio station.
- 19:37Speaker 7: I don't know if that's in the rotation. I'll be
- 19:40Speaker 7: honest with you, but you really can't roller skate and
- 19:44Speaker 7: a Buffalo Herd. He's right about that great songwriter. Okay,
- 19:50Speaker 7: this is gonna be a regular feature. Riley is going
- 19:55Speaker 7: to visit with Bombers manager. You're and former A and
- 20:01Speaker 7: M baseball player Ryan Targosh.
- 20:04Speaker 17: All right, welcome in. My name is Riley Dorsey, and
- 20:06Speaker 17: we're here with the Brass Valley Bombers head coach Ryan
- 20:09Speaker 17: Targosh for a weekly visit. Ryan. I really appreciate you
- 20:13Speaker 17: taking a few minutes to join us here today.
- 20:16Speaker 18: Yeah, of course, happy to be on here.
- 20:19Speaker 17: All right, perfect, Well we'll get started then. So, now
- 20:22Speaker 17: that you are a couple of weeks into the season,
- 20:24Speaker 17: what's kind of stood out to you the most about
- 20:26Speaker 17: this team and have you learned anything from the group
- 20:29Speaker 17: so far?
- 20:31Speaker 18: Yeah? Being a first time head coach for a ball club,
- 20:35Speaker 18: you get to learn a lot playing TAWL games in
- 20:38Speaker 18: two weeks, and so so far this group of guys,
- 20:42Speaker 18: I mean, they've been they've been resilient. We've been putting
- 20:45Speaker 18: into some some really test situations and I get to
- 20:49Speaker 18: see these boys fight and kind of problem solved. So
- 20:54Speaker 18: it's really good to see them kind of turn around
- 20:56Speaker 18: this last week. First weeks, I'm kind of start off
- 20:59Speaker 18: a little rough. You know, if you've been playing baseball enough,
- 21:02Speaker 18: you know you're gonna have those weeks. But it's all
- 21:05Speaker 18: about playing winning baseball and just tacking good days.
- 21:08Speaker 17: Yeah, for sure. Has there been anything that's kind of
- 21:11Speaker 17: surprised you about this team yet?
- 21:15Speaker 18: I'd say just how quick these boys have dealed together
- 21:20Speaker 18: as a team in the bond that they already shared,
- 21:23Speaker 18: just in these click two weeks. And the teams that
- 21:26Speaker 18: I've been a part of and also coached one team normally,
- 21:30Speaker 18: the team that plays the best together is going to
- 21:33Speaker 18: be the most successful team. Not really the team that
- 21:35Speaker 18: has the best players, but just a team who who
- 21:39Speaker 18: plays team baseball, whether it be team offense, team defense.
- 21:42Speaker 18: That's going to be the team that is going to
- 21:44Speaker 18: find the most success. So I'd say it's really shocked
- 21:49Speaker 18: me to see these boys kind of gel together and
- 21:51Speaker 18: these click too quick. Two weeks so far.
- 21:54Speaker 17: Yeah, absolutely, And so I know even though you weren't
- 21:58Speaker 17: coaching the Bombers last season and this year's obviously looked
- 22:01Speaker 17: a little different with the team playing their home games
- 22:03Speaker 17: over in Navasoda. So like, how it's that adjustment been
- 22:07Speaker 17: for both you and the players so far?
- 22:11Speaker 18: Could you repeat that question. I'm sorry you kind of
- 22:13Speaker 18: broke out there.
- 22:14Speaker 17: Yeah, you're all good, So just kind of how's the
- 22:17Speaker 17: adjustment been for both you and the players with now
- 22:20Speaker 17: home games and Navasota rather than Brian College Station area.
- 22:26Speaker 18: Yeah, there's been a there's been a slight adjustment. There's
- 22:29Speaker 18: some there's some guys on this team that they were
- 22:31Speaker 18: part of the twenty five and twenty four Bombers, and
- 22:34Speaker 18: so the venue has definitely changed. But to me, I
- 22:39Speaker 18: just really see it as you know, it's just we
- 22:42Speaker 18: still have to go out there and play the game
- 22:44Speaker 18: of baseball. The game. The game doesn't change whether you're
- 22:46Speaker 18: playing it littly or college, high school, professional baseball. You
- 22:51Speaker 18: still have to throw the ball over the plate. You
- 22:53Speaker 18: still have to play catch, still have to hit my defense.
- 22:57Speaker 18: And so that's what I've been really stressed with is guys,
- 23:01Speaker 18: is that no matter where you're playing, you've got to
- 23:04Speaker 18: go out there and just play the game of baseball.
- 23:07Speaker 18: And so that in my message to them or the
- 23:11Speaker 18: start of the season, whenever we travel on the road
- 23:13Speaker 18: as well, and it seems to be it seems to
- 23:15Speaker 18: help them out and kind of calm them down.
- 23:19Speaker 17: Yeah, yeah, for sure, that makes sense. Do you think
- 23:21Speaker 17: that they've kind of settled in and started to make
- 23:23Speaker 17: it feel like home yet or not not quite yet?
- 23:28Speaker 18: I think so. I think I know that the first
- 23:31Speaker 18: two or three games, you know, you still got to
- 23:33Speaker 18: get those jitters out and be a part of a
- 23:36Speaker 18: new team. But I think once I think for this
- 23:41Speaker 18: second week, I think it's been it's been really good
- 23:44Speaker 18: for them to get all those jitters out and now
- 23:46Speaker 18: they're just playing free and they're they're just playing baseball now.
- 23:51Speaker 17: Yeah, no, for sure, And so kind of moving towards
- 23:54Speaker 17: like the coaching side of things, I know you're pretty young,
- 23:58Speaker 17: so like at such a young age, how exciting has
- 24:00Speaker 17: it been for you to kind of just get the
- 24:02Speaker 17: opportunity to coach a team like this.
- 24:06Speaker 18: Yeah, it's been. It's been very exciting. I don't think
- 24:08Speaker 18: a lot of twenty four year olds to get to
- 24:11Speaker 18: experience me in a head coach for for any sport really,
- 24:14Speaker 18: And so I believe coaching is what I was meant
- 24:19Speaker 18: to do and what I was put on this earth
- 24:21Speaker 18: to to to find my purpose, and so I really
- 24:26Speaker 18: enjoy hoping young players develop because that's that's one of
- 24:31Speaker 18: that's what I wanted growing up. So uh, just to
- 24:35Speaker 18: be able to have this opportunity and to be able
- 24:37Speaker 18: to hopefully or hopefully this will kind of jump start
- 24:41Speaker 18: my career as being a coach for for wherever I
- 24:44Speaker 18: may go. But it's been, it's been a real, real
- 24:47Speaker 18: fun opportunity so far and a real fun experience, and
- 24:50Speaker 18: I'm I'm grateful that I'm getting to do this.
- 24:54Speaker 17: Yeah, that sounds amazing. And so yeah, do you kind
- 24:57Speaker 17: of think since you are so young that kind of
- 25:00Speaker 17: of helps in a way when just connecting or coaching
- 25:03Speaker 17: these players who aren't too much younger.
- 25:05Speaker 18: Than you, Yeah, for sure, there is, Uh, there is
- 25:11Speaker 18: some points that I can relate to me being so young.
- 25:15Speaker 18: I mean, I've my last year playing college of baseball,
- 25:18Speaker 18: was in twenty four, so not not too far off
- 25:21Speaker 18: from these guys, and so they can kind of they
- 25:23Speaker 18: kind of look to me for any problems that you
- 25:26Speaker 18: know they're going through, you know it's baseball related and
- 25:29Speaker 18: even even personal things that you know they may be
- 25:32Speaker 18: going through. I'm happy to help them out and hear
- 25:36Speaker 18: them out. And one challenge for me is to is
- 25:42Speaker 18: to be that coach and not always I know this
- 25:44Speaker 18: may sound a harsh, but not always be their friend,
- 25:47Speaker 18: because you know, real a real good coach is going
- 25:50Speaker 18: to look look out for their best interests, whether whether
- 25:53Speaker 18: it's the good or bad. And you have to let
- 25:55Speaker 18: them know that if they're doing something wrong, you got
- 25:57Speaker 18: to correct them. You got to make it right. You
- 25:59Speaker 18: can't just let it. And so that's the tough part
- 26:02Speaker 18: about being a young coach is that you know, I'm
- 26:04Speaker 18: I'm going to be their biggest cheerleader and biggest supporter,
- 26:07Speaker 18: but I'm also gonna I'm also going to critique them
- 26:10Speaker 18: and be a tough critic sometimes whenever they need it.
- 26:13Speaker 18: But I believe that's what it takes to be a
- 26:16Speaker 18: great coach. And if you want to be a great player,
- 26:19Speaker 18: you're going to have to hear some some uh hard
- 26:24Speaker 18: coaching or receive some tough coaching sometimes, but that's a
- 26:28Speaker 18: I think that that's how you become successful on both
- 26:31Speaker 18: sides right there.
- 26:32Speaker 17: Yeah, I think it's definitely good to just have that
- 26:34Speaker 17: balance and all that between each other. But yeah, kind
- 26:40Speaker 17: of just ending off on a bigger note, what do
- 26:42Speaker 17: you kind of hope the players take away from their
- 26:45Speaker 17: experiment experience with the Bombers once this season is over?
- 26:49Speaker 17: Kind of how with your coaching style and all of that,
- 26:54Speaker 17: just the experience that you're wanting to bring, what do
- 26:58Speaker 17: you hope your players take away?
- 27:00Speaker 18: Not overall, I just want them to have fun, just
- 27:04Speaker 18: have fun just playing baseball, because I know that in
- 27:07Speaker 18: this in this day and age of baseball, that it's
- 27:11Speaker 18: it's very easy to see the game as something that
- 27:14Speaker 18: it's a chore to do and it's a business, which
- 27:19Speaker 18: is the higher up you go, it does become a business.
- 27:21Speaker 18: But I think the great players who continue to go play,
- 27:26Speaker 18: they they find the roots of why they play the
- 27:29Speaker 18: game of baseball. And that's I only played one year
- 27:33Speaker 18: of summer baseball, and that was the most fun time
- 27:39Speaker 18: I've ever had playing baseball, and I kind of reignited
- 27:42Speaker 18: my love for the game, and so I just I
- 27:44Speaker 18: hope that this is kind of a is a pathway
- 27:47Speaker 18: for these guys to kind of you know, for guys
- 27:50Speaker 18: who are struggling, or for guys who are just you know,
- 27:53Speaker 18: they're not too sure, they're trying to get better developed,
- 27:56Speaker 18: that this is a pathway for them to find that
- 27:58Speaker 18: love or to keep or to maintain that love for
- 28:01Speaker 18: the game of baseball. And it's overall, that's my overall
- 28:05Speaker 18: message to them to play, to play fun winning baseball,
- 28:08Speaker 18: because I mean, obviously it's more it's more fun whenever
- 28:12Speaker 18: you are winning. I will say that I hate losing
- 28:17Speaker 18: more than I love winning, and so but whenever you
- 28:20Speaker 18: kind of add those two things together, it just makes
- 28:22Speaker 18: a game. Whatever they can do to make the game
- 28:25Speaker 18: fun to help their careers out.
- 28:28Speaker 17: Yeah, that's great. I feel like, just you always got
- 28:31Speaker 17: to have that love for the game and the passion
- 28:34Speaker 17: or else you're just not having fun. Ever, So, all right,
- 28:38Speaker 17: well I think that's it for today. Ryan, Thank you
- 28:42Speaker 17: again for taking the time to join us today. Best
- 28:45Speaker 17: of luck this week with all yours games and everything.
- 28:49Speaker 18: Yeah, of course, happy to chat.
- 28:51Speaker 17: All right, perfect, Well, we'll catch up with you next week.
- 28:55Speaker 18: Alrighty sounds good, Thank you so much.
- 28:57Speaker 7: That's Roley Dorsey with Ryan and Targosh and a couple
- 29:02Speaker 7: of games with the San Antonio River Monsters in Nevinesota
- 29:07Speaker 7: Thursday and Friday. I think Riley told me there four
- 29:11Speaker 7: and five so far. Did I get that right, Riley? Yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 7: four and five so far?
- 29:15Speaker 13: Okay.
- 29:16Speaker 7: I appreciate Ryan Targosh doing that for us. I will
- 29:21Speaker 7: say again we have reached out to the yard Dogs
- 29:23Speaker 7: without success, but if they ever call us back, we
- 29:27Speaker 7: will certainly be glad to visit with them as well.
- 29:31Speaker 7: And we've got a couple other local things that we'll
- 29:35Speaker 7: be doing throughout the summer with interviews to keep you
- 29:40Speaker 7: in touch with the community with coaches and such, and
- 29:44Speaker 7: of course in August we'll be back with our high
- 29:48Speaker 7: school report. I haven't talked to Caleb, but I hope
- 29:51Speaker 7: he will be back with the high school report. Caleb
- 29:54Speaker 7: would be filling in some for me in the month
- 29:57Speaker 7: of July, so we got that going on us a
- 30:00Speaker 7: week from today. Just a note that we will not
- 30:06Speaker 7: have a show. We have got Astros Baseball instead, and
- 30:10Speaker 7: that's a week from today. Scott Clinton and will join
- 30:14Speaker 7: me Tomorrow Thursday we will have our usual Clark Eisenhower
- 30:20Speaker 7: Outdoor edition. I have got a story on pythons in Florida.
- 30:26Speaker 7: The python gathering season is over. If I told you
- 30:33Speaker 7: there were over four tons worth of pythons collected in
- 30:39Speaker 7: the Everglades area in South Florida, would you believe me?
- 30:43Speaker 7: It's true? A quarter of those sampled had deer in
- 30:52Speaker 7: their bellies. So yeah, that's a big that's big. On
- 31:00Speaker 7: the menu of pythons are deer and anything else they
- 31:05Speaker 7: can strangle and swallow. Seven to nothing. Is this top
- 31:12Speaker 7: of the ninth? I guess yeah, So Troy will have
- 31:15Speaker 7: one lasted bat to try to keep their season alive.

- 32:31Speaker 4: Is Seeing J Barbecue?
- 32:34Speaker 14: Okay, So for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lies.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Maybe see free? Uh yes, like actually free? Yes?
- 32:43Speaker 17: Every Wednesday night so I can get free barbecue.
- 32:45Speaker 4: That's how kids eat free? Works, buddy, Wednesday's my favorite, Dan.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Now see no fog machine needed?
- 32:51Speaker 19: Oh man, kids eat free every Wednesday night at Seeing
- 32:55Speaker 19: J Barbecue. Great food, happy kids, Seeing J Barbecue because

- 34:03Speaker 4: Having Canty and Michelle are unsportsman life.
- 34:06Speaker 20: This is somebody that left money on the table so
- 34:09Speaker 20: that other guys on this team could eat. When the
- 34:11Speaker 20: best player does that, it's hard as hell for the
- 34:14Speaker 20: organization not to do everything within their power to empower
- 34:18Speaker 20: that guy and to put him in this position. The
- 34:20Speaker 20: New York Knicks are unconventional in the way that they
- 34:23Speaker 20: built and now they're NBA.
- 34:25Speaker 6: Channel unsportsman like listen in Weekday mornings from five to
- 34:29Speaker 6: eight of the Zone eleven and ninety three point SEVENFM.
- 34:48Speaker 7: Thanks for joining us here on a Tuesday edition of
- 34:53Speaker 7: The Big Program. Did we say it's nine to nothing
- 34:56Speaker 7: now Trey or eight to nothing, eight to nothing West
- 35:02Speaker 7: Virginia over Troy. So we're keeping an eye on that one. Yeah.
- 35:12Speaker 7: Yesterday afternoon Texas stayed alive and they lived to play
- 35:20Speaker 7: another day, which is tonight against Georgia. The Longhorns down
- 35:27Speaker 7: in Alabama yesterday and it was quite the afternoon for
- 35:33Speaker 7: shortstop Adrian Rodriguez, who hit for the cycle only the
- 35:38Speaker 7: third time that's happened at the College World Series, tied
- 35:41Speaker 7: a record with seven runs batted in five base hits.
- 35:46Speaker 7: We're gonna hear from him, and we're gonna hear from
- 35:50Speaker 7: Jim Schlasnagel post game yesterday.
- 35:54Speaker 21: First of all, congratulations the University of Alabama on an
- 35:57Speaker 21: awesome season. Big fan of coach Vaughn and what he's
- 36:00Speaker 21: done with the program in their great year. Super fired
- 36:04Speaker 21: up about our win. Obviously, I thought Ruger did a
- 36:06Speaker 21: nice job working around some deep counts and a little
- 36:10Speaker 21: bit of traffic, and then obviously the two out hitting.
- 36:13Speaker 21: We got some ball bounced our way in the first
- 36:15Speaker 21: inning on those balls down the line, and then I
- 36:18Speaker 21: think we scored eight runs with two outs. Is that
- 36:20Speaker 21: what it was maybe over the course of the game,
- 36:23Speaker 21: and then I was you know, Adrian was awesome and
- 36:25Speaker 21: so happy for him considering all the things he's been
- 36:28Speaker 21: through this year, so fired up to be able to continue.
- 36:30Speaker 11: To play, opening up questions for the student athletes.
- 36:35Speaker 22: Andrew Raidel, College Baseball Central. Adrian obviously the historic day today,
- 36:39Speaker 22: but you've been one of the most consistent Longhorn offensive
- 36:43Speaker 22: players all postseason. Just talk about your approach today and
- 36:46Speaker 22: your whole postseason.
- 36:49Speaker 23: I've made some swing changes with Tulo, probably when the
- 36:53Speaker 23: Tennessee series, so it's through the backstretches with like doing
- 36:56Speaker 23: with my hand. I've got to get more simple and
- 36:59Speaker 23: just keeping my head in the same position, just not
- 37:02Speaker 23: being able to see the ball better.
- 37:03Speaker 13: It's been a big, big factor.
- 37:08Speaker 11: Danny Dave's the Austin American States.
- 37:10Speaker 24: When Adrian, when you found out that you would hit
- 37:12Speaker 24: the cycle and you're the third player to do that,
- 37:14Speaker 24: You're at the College World Series. What was kind of
- 37:15Speaker 24: your true your reaction to that history and did you
- 37:17Speaker 24: think you tripled there in the in the second inning. U.
- 37:21Speaker 23: No, Yeah, Ruger came out actually came up to me
- 37:23Speaker 23: later in the game and told me that they took
- 37:24Speaker 23: the air off the board. So it was kind of
- 37:26Speaker 23: kind of surreal because I remember Cimo doing it with
- 37:29Speaker 23: Tennessee when I was in high school, and I it's
- 37:32Speaker 23: kind of crazy that that's all coming back when we're here.
- 37:36Speaker 13: So it's just a crazy moment.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Adrian lifskottic with World Baseball dot Com. What does today
- 37:44Speaker 1: mean to you in the context of, you know, last
- 37:45Speaker 1: year you missed some time after getting hit by the pitch,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and this year the surgery. You know, there's been a
- 37:49Speaker 1: lot of adversity and then to come through today.
- 37:53Speaker 18: No.
- 37:53Speaker 13: Yeah, it's definitely been up and down throughout the season.
- 37:56Speaker 23: So I really owe it up to all the all
- 37:57Speaker 23: the guys that's been having my back throughout the whole year,
- 38:00Speaker 23: and especially all the coaches that have had my back
- 38:03Speaker 23: when I, uh, when I haven't been right mentally. So
- 38:05Speaker 23: it's just it's been a grind, but I'm I'm happy
- 38:07Speaker 23: that we're doing it right uh right now In the
- 38:09Speaker 23: college with series.
- 38:14Speaker 25: Mark Gartland, just baseball media coach, seemed like every time
- 38:17Speaker 25: Alabama got a little bit of momentum. Ruger was able
- 38:19Speaker 25: to shut that down right away. Can you just speak
- 38:21Speaker 25: a little bit about how it is to have that
- 38:22Speaker 25: kind of guy up on the mound for you in
- 38:23Speaker 25: this kind of game.
- 38:24Speaker 21: Yeah, I mean, we knew we had a chance to
- 38:26Speaker 21: have a decent season, you know, at the end of
- 38:28Speaker 21: the season last year, when we were able to get
- 38:30Speaker 21: Ruger and and Luke and h and Max Grubub's back,
- 38:34Speaker 21: and that was just a huge thing. In today's college baseball,
- 38:37Speaker 21: you can't coach birthdays, and you know that a lot
- 38:39Speaker 21: of the older teams are the ones that seemed to
- 38:40Speaker 21: be successful. So Ruger's had a great year for us,
- 38:43Speaker 21: and he was excited to pitch. He created some traffic
- 38:47Speaker 21: for himself. I thought they really battled and Limb had
- 38:49Speaker 21: an awesome at bat there at one point in the game.
- 38:52Speaker 21: Ruger doesn't really walk a lot of guys. I guess
- 38:53Speaker 21: he only walked two, but there were a lot of
- 38:56Speaker 21: deep counts and then we but we made some nice
- 38:58Speaker 21: plays behind them. I think the double play on was
- 39:01Speaker 21: that Brady Neil. I think the double play was big,
- 39:04Speaker 21: and and then they were kind of swinging earlier in
- 39:07Speaker 21: the account later in his appearance and helped him get
- 39:09Speaker 21: through some innings.
- 39:12Speaker 22: Android L College Baseball sign troll coach Zane Zane had
- 39:15Speaker 22: some success against you guys last time the broadcast that
- 39:19Speaker 22: they mentioned that he was tipping his pictures.
- 39:21Speaker 11: Did you guys see that as well?
- 39:22Speaker 21: Yeah, they asked me about that after, but we didn't
- 39:23Speaker 21: have We didn't have anything on him at all, not
- 39:27Speaker 21: that I tell you if we did, but but no,
- 39:31Speaker 21: Zane's a good picture.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Uh.
- 39:33Speaker 21: You know, when I was my previous stop, we recruited him.
- 39:35Speaker 21: He's from Texas. I know, he's got family connections to Alabama.
- 39:37Speaker 21: So he's had assuming he signs, he's had an awesome career.
- 39:41Speaker 21: He just he was pretty pretty unlucky early. You know,
- 39:44Speaker 21: some of those balls that were hit they had a
- 39:46Speaker 21: third basement in and hit one by him, and then
- 39:48Speaker 21: a rod got one by the first basement, second and third.
- 39:50Speaker 21: So sometimes rather be lucky than good. But today was
- 39:54Speaker 21: our day. But he's a good pitcher.
- 39:58Speaker 24: Danny Davis the Austin Americans, Jim. When it comes to
- 40:01Speaker 24: a decision, a scoring decision like that triple slash single,
- 40:05Speaker 24: is there politicking behind the scenes by your staff to
- 40:07Speaker 24: get those changed and also to show over our thoughts
- 40:09Speaker 24: on Adria Tonet.
- 40:10Speaker 21: I mean, had it not been changed by the end
- 40:13Speaker 21: of the game, yeah, I certain would have said something.
- 40:15Speaker 21: I thought it was a clean triple. But I'm glad
- 40:17Speaker 21: they made that change during the game. But no, I
- 40:19Speaker 21: don't get in the middle of that unless unless, you know,
- 40:22Speaker 21: unless Josh or somebody, you know, our media relations guy,
- 40:26Speaker 21: maybe he did something.
- 40:27Speaker 4: I haven't talked to anybody about that.
- 40:31Speaker 13: Hey, Jim Cedra Golden Austin, American States.
- 40:34Speaker 26: Those three guys that were just up, how do they
- 40:35Speaker 26: epitomize the spirit of your team with what each of
- 40:38Speaker 26: them has gone through in their time here.
- 40:41Speaker 21: Well, I think the common theme among those three guys
- 40:44Speaker 21: is they all wanted to be at Texas. They love
- 40:46Speaker 21: being a Texas Longhorn.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Uh.
- 40:48Speaker 21: You know Mendoza, he wanted to be at Texas after
- 40:52Speaker 21: as U Ruger, you know, utsa transfer, loves it, loves
- 40:56Speaker 21: the school, loves the program, wanted to come back. And
- 41:00Speaker 21: then of course Adrian, you know, he was committed to
- 41:03Speaker 21: us at my previous institution, and as soon as we
- 41:05Speaker 21: came over, he wanted to be with us. He wanted
- 41:07Speaker 21: to be at Texas so I think that's the common theme.
- 41:10Speaker 21: They're certainly tough kids and competitive and they love me
- 41:14Speaker 21: and Longhorns.
- 41:19Speaker 27: No, being a eleven point seven coach, you obviously have
- 41:21Speaker 27: a very fun loving team and fun having team. The
- 41:24Speaker 27: double celebration is certainly unique. And everybody that doug out's
- 41:27Speaker 27: doing it along with the guy on base pass. Are
- 41:30Speaker 27: you just hoping and praying that nobody's throwing their shoulder
- 41:33Speaker 27: out of socket?
- 41:34Speaker 13: Ear?
- 41:34Speaker 21: Well apparently, but Mendoza did. But yeah, I don't get
- 41:39Speaker 21: in the middle of that stuff. You know. I prefer
- 41:41Speaker 21: to just play good, clean, professional baseball. But part of
- 41:43Speaker 21: college baseball is enthusiasm, and I think as long as
- 41:47Speaker 21: it's not directed to the other team, that's cool. But yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 21: we want these guys have fun. A confident player that's
- 41:55Speaker 21: playing with freedom and joy is a scary player, and
- 41:58Speaker 21: that's the best version we can have right now.
- 42:03Speaker 13: Jim very apparent.
- 42:06Speaker 28: David Eckert when it's twenty four seven sports, I couldn't help,
- 42:10Speaker 28: but notice all the three guys you brought have kind
- 42:12Speaker 28: of I mean, they've been hurt at some point. You've
- 42:15Speaker 28: kind of hinted at some other stuff. What element has
- 42:18Speaker 28: toughness played in getting your team to where it is
- 42:20Speaker 28: right now.
- 42:21Speaker 21: Yeah, I mean, you got to give our training staff
- 42:23Speaker 21: credit for sure, and strength conditioning and the kids themselves,
- 42:26Speaker 21: and but yeah, tough. I think anybody that's plays this
- 42:29Speaker 21: deep into a season, I mean, I don't know, you know,
- 42:32Speaker 21: maybe George is perfectly healthy. I don't know, but most
- 42:36Speaker 21: teams by by now, you're pretty banged up and everybody's
- 42:38Speaker 21: dealing with something. The best you're ever going to feel
- 42:41Speaker 21: is the first game of the season pretty much, and
- 42:42Speaker 21: from that point forward most of the time it's downhill.
- 42:45Speaker 21: But one saying we have in our program is if
- 42:48Speaker 21: you have to feel good to play well, then you
- 42:50Speaker 21: don't even play, because you know that's that's rarely going
- 42:54Speaker 21: to happen. And so I'm really proud of our team
- 42:56Speaker 21: for showing that grit.
- 43:00Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 29: Jim Kurk Bowls from Houston Chronicle. Was this exactly the
- 43:03Speaker 29: kind of game you would have drawn up, you know,
- 43:06Speaker 29: to help y'all get past Georgia and get your confidence going.
- 43:09Speaker 29: And second, what the heck are you feeding a rod?
- 43:13Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 43:14Speaker 21: I don't, I don't. We've he just had the same
- 43:16Speaker 21: breakfast I had this morning. But he's a Rod's a
- 43:20Speaker 21: good player. I mean Arod would be a a Rod
- 43:23Speaker 21: would be a mid three hundreds, I high three hundreds,
- 43:26Speaker 21: double digit homer, fifteen homer player. He's a potential first rounder.
- 43:30Speaker 21: He's a hopefully this summer we can get him fully healthy.
- 43:33Speaker 21: But he's he's a great player. And then in terms
- 43:36Speaker 21: of the type of game just to win, you know,
- 43:40Speaker 21: I would have liked for Ruger to be a little
- 43:42Speaker 21: more efficient, but you have to respect Alabama too, and
- 43:46Speaker 21: so yeah, we'll take it. Use Luke or a Sam
- 43:51Speaker 21: or Burns or even Crossing really excited about Bertie Walls
- 43:55Speaker 21: or Bertie Walls is in a good place right now.
- 43:57Speaker 7: And I'm sure you caught that if Schlass talking about
- 44:02Speaker 7: Adrian Rodriguez, who had committed when I was a coach
- 44:05Speaker 7: at a previous institution. And like I said, I had
- 44:10Speaker 7: to play that because people are always saying, hey, why
- 44:12Speaker 7: don't you ever play Jim Schlosnakel. When we come back,
- 44:16Speaker 7: we're going to hear from the Georgia side of things.
- 44:19Speaker 7: And Bulldogs got upset last night by an Oklahoma Sooner
- 44:25Speaker 7: team that is in fuego in postseason. The Astros Report

- 45:43Speaker 30: The Houston Astros gave up five home runs to the
- 45:46Speaker 30: Tigers as Detroit took Game one of the series last night,
- 45:48Speaker 30: final score nine to three. Kiwa Tang started on the
- 45:51Speaker 30: mound for Houston and it was another tough outing with
- 45:54Speaker 30: five runs allowed off six hits, including a basis loaded
- 45:57Speaker 30: hit batter. The Tigers jumped out to a five to
- 45:59Speaker 30: nothing lead through the first three innings, but the Astros
- 46:02Speaker 30: responded in the bottom third with back to back homers
- 46:04Speaker 30: from Isaac Porretties and jose L Twovy. Here's the two

- 46:18Speaker 30: Day After cutting the deficit down to two runs, Houston

- 46:24Speaker 30: three coming from Colt Keith home runs alone. Game two

- 48:03Speaker 7: Last night, Oklahoma surprised Georgia four to three. They may
- 48:11Speaker 7: get another chance tomorrow night. The winner of tonight's Georgia
- 48:17Speaker 7: Texas game will play Oklahoma and have to beat the
- 48:24Speaker 7: Sooners twice to get into the championship series. Let's hear
- 48:30Speaker 7: from Georgia coach Wes Johnson, pitcher Caiden Naoki, and Kenny Ishikawa.
- 48:39Speaker 16: Yeah, I thought a really good ball game tonight. We
- 48:41Speaker 16: had some opportunities to you know, get back into the game.
- 48:47Speaker 16: We didn't. We didn't cash in on those. I thought,
- 48:51Speaker 16: you know, Caiden was was awesome tonight. We we had
- 48:54Speaker 16: a hiccup there in the first and you know, for
- 48:57Speaker 16: him to finish the game for us was massive, as
- 48:59Speaker 16: you know you look forward and saving your bullpen and
- 49:07Speaker 16: and yeah, so from that standpoint, I mean, we've got
- 49:10Speaker 16: to you know, we got to clean up a few things,
- 49:12Speaker 16: but we'll be we'll be back and ready to go
- 49:14Speaker 16: tomorrow night.
- 49:15Speaker 11: Open up the questions for the student athletes.
- 49:19Speaker 22: Android Dell College Baseball Central Caden Kenny. This is the
- 49:22Speaker 22: first time that this Georgia team is playing an elimination
- 49:24Speaker 22: game tomorrow. I'm playing with their backs against the wall.
- 49:26Speaker 22: What's the mindset going into tomorrow.
- 49:30Speaker 3: I mean, it's the same thing, it's the same process.
- 49:33Speaker 3: It's the same mindset that we've had all season. I mean,
- 49:36Speaker 3: if we change something now, then that's when it's all.
- 49:39Speaker 11: Gonna go bad.
- 49:39Speaker 3: So we're gonna stick to our approach. We're gonna stick
- 49:42Speaker 3: to what we do. We're gonna stick to, you know,
- 49:44Speaker 3: the courage that we have. I think this courage or
- 49:46Speaker 3: this team has the most courage in the country. So
- 49:48Speaker 3: we're gonna come back strong.
- 49:49Speaker 32: Yeah, following up with Caden, the good thing about this
- 49:52Speaker 32: series is we still get to compete tomorrow, So just
- 49:57Speaker 32: stay loose, play how we w been playing, and yeah,
- 50:02Speaker 32: just get after it.
- 50:02Speaker 3: I also, I also think that it's just another opportunity
- 50:05Speaker 3: to play with our brothers. You know, we have more
- 50:07Speaker 3: games to play now with each other, so we're excited
- 50:10Speaker 3: about it.
- 50:13Speaker 22: Colton Sully the Oklahoma and yeah, Kenny, you guys obviously
- 50:16Speaker 22: got a hold of some But what made Andrew Oklahoma
- 50:18Speaker 22: starter so effective today?
- 50:19Speaker 13: What makes him so hard to head against?
- 50:22Speaker 32: I thought he was placing the balls really well today.
- 50:24Speaker 32: I think, Yeah, we did have eleven shreakouts as a team,
- 50:27Speaker 32: so I think we got to I mean, yeah, make
- 50:30Speaker 32: that a little bit less, but we're seeing them back good.
- 50:32Speaker 13: So just get after it. To my own, just play loose.
- 50:37Speaker 25: Mark Kurland, just baseball media, kave, you got a little
- 50:40Speaker 25: roughed up there in the first inning. Not really all
- 50:42Speaker 25: your fault there, But how did you settle back in
- 50:43Speaker 25: and kind of go throughout the whole rest of the game.
- 50:46Speaker 13: I mean, not to sugarcoat it.
- 50:47Speaker 3: My stuff was really bad early on, Like it was
- 50:50Speaker 3: simply put and I kind of knew that. I kind
- 50:54Speaker 3: of realized that pretty early. And they didn't miss the
- 50:57Speaker 3: pitches you know that I left in the heart of
- 50:59Speaker 3: the I just had to take a step back and
- 51:04Speaker 3: really just change my mindset. To be honest, it was
- 51:07Speaker 3: a trying day on the mound, but sometimes those are.
- 51:11Speaker 3: I mean, it's just what you have to do sometimes,
- 51:13Speaker 3: I mean, so, I mean I felt better as the
- 51:15Speaker 3: game went on. I just had a stick to my
- 51:18Speaker 3: approach and stick to my mindset and kind of realized
- 51:21Speaker 3: where my stuff was, and I just had to elevate
- 51:23Speaker 3: my game towards the.
- 51:23Speaker 13: End of it.
- 51:25Speaker 11: Any more questions for the student athletes, I've just.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Gotten a World Baseball dot Com Kenny, you were one
- 51:32Speaker 1: for two against mere Curious. What did you see from him?
- 51:37Speaker 13: Is that the part of two for three?
- 51:42Speaker 32: Yeah, I mean, I'm seeing the ball pretty well overall,
- 51:44Speaker 32: so I thought he was still doing a really good
- 51:46Speaker 32: job placing his pitches on his basketball change up and
- 51:49Speaker 32: his slider. He struck me out once too. I thought
- 51:52Speaker 32: that sider was place real. We will, but yeah, that's
- 51:56Speaker 32: about it.
- 51:57Speaker 11: Take more more for the student athletes.
- 51:59Speaker 33: Can of You guys are an offense that thrives on
- 52:02Speaker 33: getting guys on and with power to even going back
- 52:05Speaker 33: to yesterday or Saturday, it's been a challenge for you
- 52:08Speaker 33: kind of how is that I figures handling that? And
- 52:10Speaker 33: how do you how you try to maybe change things
- 52:12Speaker 33: at tomorrow?
- 52:16Speaker 32: Yeah, I mean today, I'm sorry, can you repeat that again?
- 52:21Speaker 13: I'm sorry so much?
- 52:23Speaker 33: Would you guys excel that his scoring by getting runners
- 52:25Speaker 33: on and you know pressure in the picture, you know,
- 52:28Speaker 33: how do you how do you kind of get that
- 52:30Speaker 33: back going in tomorrow?
- 52:32Speaker 32: Just getting our leadoff guy on every inning? I think
- 52:35Speaker 32: we got on base when I was two outs a
- 52:38Speaker 32: lot today, So just that.
- 52:40Speaker 11: Part, Kayden Kenny, appreciate your time, big thank you.
- 52:44Speaker 27: In the first inning, Kayden did labor a little bit
- 52:46Speaker 27: and he got out of it and even he understand
- 52:50Speaker 27: admitted that his stuff maybe wasn't the best night.
- 52:52Speaker 11: What did you see out of your starter.
- 52:54Speaker 27: To allow him to continue working throughout the game. And
- 52:57Speaker 27: I mean he finished with eight innings completed here.
- 53:00Speaker 16: Yeah, well I disagree. I thought, you know, this stuff
- 53:03Speaker 16: was just okay in the first two innings, and then
- 53:05Speaker 16: I thought he settled in and we got the stuff
- 53:07Speaker 16: that we've seen from Kane Aoki, you know, all year,
- 53:09Speaker 16: and and I just allowed him to get some quick
- 53:12Speaker 16: outs and roll over ground balls and you know, kept
- 53:16Speaker 16: his pitch count low enough that you know, when you're
- 53:18Speaker 16: in those kind of games, you got to have that
- 53:20Speaker 16: mindset of when when you're behind, you got to be
- 53:23Speaker 16: careful and you feel like, you know, you got to
- 53:25Speaker 16: have him keep it there, to keep it within striking distance.
- 53:28Speaker 16: I felt like, you know, we obviously he did that.
- 53:30Speaker 16: We had some opportunities and just in cash youh.
- 53:36Speaker 7: Ter fit do you?
- 53:36Speaker 11: In baseball?
- 53:37Speaker 18: Coach?
- 53:38Speaker 7: You know, mccuris was able to miss.
- 53:42Speaker 34: Quite a few bats with his fastball, which I don't
- 53:43Speaker 34: know if you found that surprising, but what were you
- 53:47Speaker 34: expecting to see from him? And I mean for freshmen
- 53:49Speaker 34: to come in and do that against your offense feels
- 53:52Speaker 34: pretty rare. What did you see there?
- 53:54Speaker 16: Yeah, you got tip your hat total skip after the game,
- 53:56Speaker 16: you know, Xander, you know was impressive tonight and really
- 54:00Speaker 16: dominated us with the fastball. I mean, we've got to
- 54:03Speaker 16: be ready to hit the fastball, and we didn't. We
- 54:05Speaker 16: didn't do a good job of that tonight, obviously, And
- 54:08Speaker 16: then I thought, you know, I thought the command of
- 54:09Speaker 16: the fastball with for him tonight was really good. He
- 54:12Speaker 16: was able to run it in on us. I was
- 54:14Speaker 16: able to elevate it at times, and then he stuck
- 54:16Speaker 16: a couple down in the way. And when you when
- 54:18Speaker 16: you got a guy who's commanded his fastball to those
- 54:20Speaker 16: three quadrants, you know, it does make it tough.
- 54:28Speaker 33: Ken Sigarrett the only atereral constitution. I think you've had
- 54:31Speaker 33: six extra base hits two games, not probably what you're
- 54:35Speaker 33: used to. Is that just the factor of just being
- 54:37Speaker 33: in his place where everybody pitch as well, or do
- 54:39Speaker 33: you feel like there's as you're saying, it's the fastball,
- 54:41Speaker 33: we're getting guys on that that you feel like there's
- 54:43Speaker 33: more things that you can control they're not.
- 54:45Speaker 15: Well.
- 54:45Speaker 16: We faced the first team as all SEC guy game one,
- 54:50Speaker 16: and then we faced a guy tonight who was executing
- 54:53Speaker 16: his fastball. So you know, our game's hard. There is
- 54:58Speaker 16: that saying that good pitching can stop good hitting. I
- 55:02Speaker 16: mean we could talk about to see history of the
- 55:04Speaker 16: game and history of time, and you know, tip your
- 55:07Speaker 16: hat to Xander Tonight, Like I said, I mean through
- 55:10Speaker 16: the ball exceptionally well executed it. When he needed some
- 55:13Speaker 16: off speeds, he got it.
- 55:15Speaker 27: And uh yeah, Noah be nickeleven point seven coach. That
- 55:23Speaker 27: other lineup that you guys face the night has been
- 55:25Speaker 27: extremely hot in the postseason. And I know you didn't
- 55:28Speaker 27: face him throughout the regular season, but just on film,
- 55:32Speaker 27: what are you seeing it out of that lineup that
- 55:34Speaker 27: has made him you know, so complete top to bottom,
- 55:37Speaker 27: and they ran a couple of balls out of here today.
- 55:41Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean, I think it's any team in this tournament, right,
- 55:44Speaker 16: I mean, you get down to the final eight and
- 55:46Speaker 16: and you make mistakes in the middle of the plate
- 55:48Speaker 16: and up you know, guys are gonna hit them. It
- 55:52Speaker 16: doesn't matter who you're you know what team you're on, Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Uh,
- 55:59Speaker 16: you know who whoever, It doesn't matter. And so they're
- 56:03Speaker 16: doing a really good job of when they're getting the
- 56:05Speaker 16: mistake up of getting off a good swing. And you know,
- 56:08Speaker 16: quite frankly, that was the difference in the game to.
- 56:10Speaker 11: I Graham Coffee Dog Central.
- 56:16Speaker 35: I know you guys haven't played in a elimination game
- 56:19Speaker 35: this year, but if you were down seven oh in
- 56:21Speaker 35: a super regional, you've seen a lot of adversity and
- 56:24Speaker 35: come from behind. How can those experiences help you guys
- 56:28Speaker 35: coming into the rest of the week here, Yeah, no.
- 56:30Speaker 16: I mean we're gonna get up. I mean, you know,
- 56:32Speaker 16: I mean tomorrow we get another chance to play this game.
- 56:35Speaker 16: It's nine innings, you know. It's when guys start to
- 56:39Speaker 16: press that things go bad, and we're gonna come out
- 56:42Speaker 16: and play our game. We're gonna, you know, try to
- 56:44Speaker 16: do it at a slow pace, be ready to hit
- 56:47Speaker 16: a little more than we were tonight. And uh yeah,
- 56:50Speaker 16: but when I when I I mean there's no need
- 56:52Speaker 16: to hype up elimination games or winter practice game. Like
- 56:57Speaker 16: I said, I think that's when players get tight. We're
- 56:59Speaker 16: gonna go out and play Georgia Bulldog baseball the way
- 57:02Speaker 16: we've been doing it all year, and hopefully we'll play
- 57:05Speaker 16: it a little cleaner.
- 57:06Speaker 7: Tomorrow. It's Wes Johnson, the Georgia coach. Georgia and Texas
- 57:12Speaker 7: this evening and the winner will play Oklahoma tomorrow. Evening
- 57:17Speaker 7: at six o'clock, and unless one of the greatest comebacks
- 57:21Speaker 7: in the history of the College World Series happens, West
- 57:24Speaker 7: Virginia will take on North Carolina tomorrow afternoon at one,
- 57:30Speaker 7: and again the Mountaineers will have to win two games
- 57:38Speaker 7: to advance. North Carolina unbeaten West Virginia twelve nothing over
- 57:45Speaker 7: Troy in the bottom of the ninth inning. Right now,
- 57:48Speaker 7: all right, we're gonna take a break. Close out the
- 57:50Speaker 7: first hour. Mike Elko in the second hour. Marbl Craft
- 57:55Speaker 7: part of our community and has been for well over
- 57:58Speaker 7: a quarter of a century. I talk to Joe today.
- 58:01Speaker 7: He's doing some work for the family and we always
- 58:05Speaker 7: appreciate that. That's why I talk about Joe, because he's
- 58:11Speaker 7: done work for us before, and I'm not going to
- 58:14Speaker 7: send you to anyone who is going to mess things up.
- 58:18Speaker 7: Joe is extremely conscientious, which you need when you have
