- 0:02Speaker 1: Happy Monday. We hope you had an awesome weekend. We
- 0:04Speaker 1: hope you enjoyed Happy Harry's Ribfest. We hope you enjoyed
- 0:07Speaker 1: the day on Saturday with the kiddos and the Bison
- 0:10Speaker 1: Tailgate kid Zone.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It was so fun to be a part of. And
- 0:14Speaker 2: it's just kind of weird, you know.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You talk about something that is just massive in the
- 0:18Speaker 1: FM area for weeks and weeks leading up to it,
- 0:20Speaker 1: promoting it and being excited about it, and then it happens,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and then you kind of blink and it's sort of
- 0:25Speaker 1: over and then back to work on Monday.
- 0:28Speaker 3: There's like a little bit of a meling call.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a little bit of a sadness to that.
- 0:32Speaker 1: But you know what we're gonna do. We're gonna start
- 0:34Speaker 1: off the show the same way we do every day,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and that's by putting our best foot forward, being appreciative,
- 0:39Speaker 1: being grateful, being thankful for something.
- 0:41Speaker 2: So if you have a little victory here today, let
- 0:43Speaker 2: us know about it.
- 0:44Speaker 1: At seven oh one through eight zero one eight seven.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Celebrating life's little victories.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Victory every morning we practice gratitude on Big ninety eight
- 0:55Speaker 5: point seven.
- 0:56Speaker 2: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 0:58Speaker 2: basket job bust when it was someone's acting hard.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I just really needed to win.
- 1:03Speaker 5: You know, sure your little victories with us at seven
- 1:06Speaker 5: oh one two seven.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And Angie, do you have a little victory for us?
- 1:12Speaker 4: Then?
- 1:13Speaker 3: I do. And I think sometimes I come off as
- 1:17Speaker 3: a j Lo hater, but I'm not. Yesterday, Mikey and
- 1:23Speaker 3: I watched the new rom com that Jlo stars in
- 1:27Speaker 3: with Brett Goldstein. It's called Office Romance. It's on Netflix,
- 1:31Speaker 3: and let me tell you, j Lo is so back, baby. Okay.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I don't think, Yes, I don't think that she should
- 1:38Speaker 3: ever try to make a hit song ever. Again, I
- 1:40Speaker 3: don't think she should try to sing ballads. But what
- 1:43Speaker 3: I do think she should do is make rom coms
- 1:46Speaker 3: until she dies. She's the queen of a rom com.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I love that she's back on our screens in a
- 1:52Speaker 3: rom com capacity, and it's like Ronchie enough that it's
- 1:56Speaker 3: not your typical rom com, but it still has like
- 2:00Speaker 3: all the fun tropes of a Ramka. It's so good.
- 2:02Speaker 3: It's so good, and she has chemistry with the guy,
- 2:05Speaker 3: and I just love it so hard. Nothing brings me
- 2:09Speaker 3: more joy than having a date night in with Mikey
- 2:12Speaker 3: and we watch a rom com and it was an
- 2:14Speaker 3: excellent choice. It's on Netflix. Highly recommend And if you're
- 2:18Speaker 3: one of those people who's like, oh, rom comes, okay,
- 2:21Speaker 3: then this is not for you.
- 2:22Speaker 4: This is not for you.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I know you do.
- 2:25Speaker 3: So I think you should watch this with Corey. It's
- 2:27Speaker 3: so fun. And I think that I was seeing like
- 2:31Speaker 3: criticism online like me Jlo and the Ramka, and it's
- 2:36Speaker 3: like listen, rom Comes the same way that like Scary
- 2:40Speaker 3: Movie six is like getting critics all like, eh, you
- 2:43Speaker 3: don't watch a rom come for its like intense, dramatic whatever.
- 2:48Speaker 3: You watch it to have a good time.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you're watching it to have fun.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Yes, And so if you're looking to have fun with
- 2:54Speaker 3: a rom com and then you get to see j
- 2:56Speaker 3: Lo look so fine and everything she wears, this is
- 3:00Speaker 3: the round Cup for you.
- 3:01Speaker 2: All right, I know what I'm doing tonight. Yeah.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I have two little victories here today. The first one
- 3:08Speaker 1: is very short and it just happened like seven minutes ago.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But Angie and I are here in the studio and
- 3:13Speaker 1: we have a TV in here that has the news
- 3:16Speaker 1: big shout out to Valley News Live, and there was
- 3:19Speaker 1: a photo of myself and a coworker of ours. His
- 3:24Speaker 1: name is Farley, or you might know him as Jabe
- 3:25Speaker 1: of Farley As we got to be part of the
- 3:28Speaker 1: rib judging. Now that it's over, I can say I
- 3:31Speaker 1: got to be a part of it. Yeah, and it
- 3:33Speaker 1: was cool. There's a picture of us with coach Paula
- 3:36Speaker 1: Sek and Zach from Happy Harry's from Happy Harry's Excuse
- 3:40Speaker 1: me yeah, participating and a guy who won our listener
- 3:44Speaker 1: contest to be a judge.
- 3:45Speaker 2: There's just a photo of us on the TV that
- 3:47Speaker 2: was kind of cool.
- 3:49Speaker 1: That was kind of a cool little moment about seven
- 3:51Speaker 1: minutes ago. But my real little victory it was on
- 3:55Speaker 1: Saturday at the NDSU Buysen Tailgate Kid Zone.
- 3:57Speaker 2: A big giant shout out to Julia.
- 3:59Speaker 1: She is always always participating on our Facebook page and
- 4:04Speaker 1: chiming in for comments, and we love it. It's always
- 4:06Speaker 1: wonderful to see, especially for am I the problem. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: think she's kind of gotten alarm for that, which is
- 4:12Speaker 1: great because we know we can count on her to
- 4:15Speaker 1: give her input.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And she good input.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah, she al says what she really thinks, which I
- 4:19Speaker 1: think is awesome. She's not afraid to have maybe a
- 4:22Speaker 1: controversial opinion or not, but either way, it was so nice.
- 4:26Speaker 1: On Saturday, Corey and I went to go grab some
- 4:29Speaker 1: food and we got like this loaded baked potato thing
- 4:31Speaker 1: and we're walking back to the radio FM booth and
- 4:35Speaker 1: this lady with a I don't know what you want
- 4:37Speaker 1: to call it, but a stroller with two kids in
- 4:40Speaker 1: it and her husband, I would assume, I assume it's
- 4:44Speaker 1: her husband, but boyfriend whatever. She said, hey, are you Gabe,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and you know, she kind of yelled it, and I
- 4:50Speaker 1: was like.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, what's up?
- 4:52Speaker 1: And instantly I kind of recognized who it was just
- 4:56Speaker 1: from seeing her on Facebook.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was like, oh, I think.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I know you.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And she was like, hey, here, I have some gifts
- 5:01Speaker 1: for you, and she gave a little baby gift to
- 5:04Speaker 1: me and Corey, and she gave Angie a little gift
- 5:06Speaker 1: as well.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It was just super nice and it was very sweet,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and there was a Onesie in the gift that I
- 5:12Speaker 1: received for obviously baby g coming up. She also had
- 5:15Speaker 1: mentioned being a lactation consultant.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I think, oh nice if.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Corey needed any help, you know, for breastfeeding at any point.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So it was just a very wholesome, sweet moment at
- 5:25Speaker 1: the Happy Harry's Rip vest.
- 5:26Speaker 4: That really was.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I let you got back to the tent and you
- 5:28Speaker 3: handed me the gift to have my name on It
- 5:31Speaker 3: had the coolest little lip bum in mine that I've
- 5:34Speaker 3: ever seen, and a really cool hair clip. I did
- 5:37Speaker 3: mention that as my little victory because I'm a horrible person.
- 5:41Speaker 3: But the other thing is that I'm jealous because I
- 5:44Speaker 3: didn't get to meet her in person. I was at
- 5:47Speaker 3: the Radio Fam media tent and so I missed my opportunity.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But I'm so appreciative, Julia. That was so kind and
- 5:55Speaker 3: thank you so much.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we appreciate you thinking of us. So that was
- 5:57Speaker 1: very sweet.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Not stay for a wide wedding.
- 6:04Speaker 1: There's this woman who got a surprise of a lifetime
- 6:07Speaker 1: during a date night at a drive in movie theater.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And this makes me so jealous that I did not
- 6:14Speaker 1: think to do this. This in my opinion, and see,
- 6:18Speaker 1: as a dude, I think this could go multiple ways.
- 6:22Speaker 1: As a guy, I'm thinking, Wow, this is really great,
- 6:25Speaker 1: this is super cool. Angie might hear this and go eh,
- 6:28Speaker 1: so we'll see what you think. An there was this
- 6:31Speaker 1: man who brought his girlfriend to a drive in movie theater.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Her name is Faith, and she thought she was there
- 6:36Speaker 1: to see a Star Wars movie.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Nice, oh, Mandalorian and grogu okay right, But.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Her boyfriend Nathan had secretly arranged a proposal. A pre
- 6:46Speaker 1: recorded video played on the big screen, with Nathan sharing
- 6:48Speaker 1: a heartfelt message before he got down on one knee.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Faith said yes.
- 6:51Speaker 1: As fellow moviegoers they cheered, applaud it, hawked their horns,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and it was a wonderful celebrat.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Yes.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Love this. This seems so cool. It shows you know,
- 6:59Speaker 1: there's little thought put into it, a little planning put
- 7:02Speaker 1: into it.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yes, and it's just cool. Imagine you have no clue
- 7:05Speaker 2: that you're gonna get proposed to that day.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'd like to think most ladies probably have an idea
- 7:09Speaker 1: that it might be on the way.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I just think it's a date night. Yeah, and then
- 7:13Speaker 1: your name's on the big screen for a proposal. This
- 7:17Speaker 1: was so cool. I'm so jealous. I didn't think of this.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I how did you propose? Again? I think I love
- 7:22Speaker 3: a grand gesture proposal. I think that's great.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I think it just has to be very specific to
- 7:29Speaker 3: the person that you're with, because, like if you have
- 7:33Speaker 3: like an introverted partner who is not into big, huge
- 7:37Speaker 3: public displays.
- 7:39Speaker 2: That's not gonna work it.
- 7:40Speaker 3: That's not the move.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Seven oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven.
- 7:44Speaker 1: What is like the most romantic way you could propose?
- 7:47Speaker 3: Now?
- 7:48Speaker 1: I will say I went into proposing to my wife
- 7:51Speaker 1: Corey with a solid idea. Yeah, but zero out of
- 7:56Speaker 1: ten on execution of that idea because I've got impatient.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I couldn't wait.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Okay, But that in itself is so sweet, like you
- 8:06Speaker 3: just couldn't help yourself. You just really wanted to let
- 8:09Speaker 3: her know that you want to marry her. Yep, that's adorable.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I love that we were in Florida. We are going
- 8:14Speaker 2: to the beach.
- 8:14Speaker 1: My whole plan, you know, get a nice little beach
- 8:16Speaker 1: sunset deal, very very you know, standard dude way of thinking.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but that was on Saturday.
- 8:22Speaker 1: We got there Friday, okay, and we had I'm not
- 8:25Speaker 1: even kidding you this to this day is probably my
- 8:27Speaker 1: top five most fun days of all time, just me
- 8:31Speaker 1: and her at that point running around having just a
- 8:34Speaker 1: grand old time in Orlando, Florida. And we got to
- 8:38Speaker 1: the end of the day and I was like, let's
- 8:42Speaker 1: just get this done with your boy. I proposed no
- 8:46Speaker 1: shoes on, no shirt, and it just happened to be.
- 8:50Speaker 3: No shoes, no shirt, but a ring.
- 8:52Speaker 4: That's right.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And it just happened to be in the airbnb we
- 8:57Speaker 1: were staying at the time, and you know, I did
- 8:59Speaker 1: good on the knee and I said all the right things. Yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 1: you know, someone had some some watery eyes by the
- 9:04Speaker 1: time I was done saying my spiel.
- 9:06Speaker 2: But it really in the grand scheme of romance.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We were in an airbnb and someone's like someone else's bedroom.
- 9:12Speaker 3: But that's a romantic for your situation. I love that
- 9:16Speaker 3: when my ex proposed to me, it was very catered
- 9:20Speaker 3: to what I like. I live for karaoke, yeah, and
- 9:23Speaker 3: we had like a karaoke spot we'd always go to.
- 9:25Speaker 3: He was not a singer, but he would just like,
- 9:28Speaker 3: let me go do my thing right. And then one night,
- 9:33Speaker 3: me and my friend Brandy, we finished singing Wanna Be
- 9:38Speaker 3: by Spice Girls, and then she like goes off the stage.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I'm about to go off the stage, but I see
- 9:46Speaker 3: him walking up to the stage and he grabs the
- 9:48Speaker 3: microphone from my friend Brandy, and I'm like, what are
- 9:51Speaker 3: you doing? And he like does some spiel by the way,
- 9:54Speaker 3: he was hammered. I was kind of hammered. But he
- 9:57Speaker 3: gets down on one knee. He has the microphone, he
- 10:00Speaker 3: like will been and the entire time, because there's a
- 10:03Speaker 3: video of this, I'm so annoying again because I was
- 10:05Speaker 3: drunk and I'm like.
- 10:07Speaker 4: What are you doing? What are you doing?
- 10:09Speaker 5: What do you do?
- 10:10Speaker 3: I just say that the entire time is so annoying,
- 10:13Speaker 3: and I clearly realized what he was doing. Alcohol is
- 10:16Speaker 3: the devil. But I said yes, and we got engaged. Whatever.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Now fast forward, we are not together anymore, but Mikey
- 10:23Speaker 3: and I are together, and he does know that he
- 10:26Speaker 3: wants to propose to me. I know that he wants
- 10:28Speaker 3: to propose to me, but I don't know how he's
- 10:30Speaker 3: going to do it or when. Well he recently a
- 10:34Speaker 3: secret yes you will. But he has an idea in
- 10:38Speaker 3: his head of what he wants to do to propose,
- 10:41Speaker 3: but it's different than his original idea. And he told me,
- 10:44Speaker 3: he's like, oh, I changed my mind. How I'm going
- 10:45Speaker 3: to propose. It's something new now. And I was like, well,
- 10:48Speaker 3: can you tell me what the old way was? And
- 10:50Speaker 3: he was going to propose to be at karaoke. I
- 10:56Speaker 3: thank god you didn't. Thank god you didn't.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Ray. How did you propose to your wife?
- 11:01Speaker 6: I proposed my wife on vacation in Italy. We were
- 11:04Speaker 6: riding in a gondola and it just felt like the
- 11:07Speaker 6: perfect moment. And I'm really glad I waited because I
- 11:10Speaker 6: was actually thinking about asking before we even left further trip.
- 11:12Speaker 1: What I'm saying that is, that's like the proposal you
- 11:16Speaker 1: see in like a photo in a calendar.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Yeah, he did opposite of you, the best opposite.
- 11:24Speaker 4: This is am I the problem. It's me on the
- 11:30Speaker 4: problem at me.
- 11:31Speaker 5: We'll hear one side of the story, and with your help,
- 11:34Speaker 5: am I the problem with you decide if it's right
- 11:36Speaker 5: or if maybe you're the problem.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I'm hardly the problem. On Big ninety eight point seven.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Would you pull up Brantley or let this go? What's up? Guys?
- 11:47Speaker 3: This is Brantley. My girlfriend and I were at Target
- 11:50Speaker 3: the other day standing in the ten items or less
- 11:53Speaker 3: line and this old lady gets to the line and
- 11:57Speaker 3: just cuts everyone. And the line is already so long.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I could tell everyone noticed, but no one said anything.
- 12:05Speaker 3: So I said something and the lady looked at me crazy.
- 12:08Speaker 3: So I repeated myself that there's a line, so she
- 12:12Speaker 3: needs to head to the back. She deep sighed and
- 12:15Speaker 3: moved to the back. I heard a couple behind me
- 12:19Speaker 3: say I was rude, and my girlfriend also said I
- 12:23Speaker 3: should have let it go. But I bet if I
- 12:26Speaker 3: cut the line, everyone would have said something to me.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Just because she's old, she gets to do whatever she wants.
- 12:33Speaker 3: So am I the problem or what? Gabe? I'd like
- 12:36Speaker 3: to get your take on this first.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Uh So, here is one of those classic scenarios. If
- 12:42Speaker 1: I was in line and this happened to me, I'd
- 12:45Speaker 1: have probably just shut up and not said a word,
- 12:48Speaker 1: but I would have stood up cheering for the person
- 12:51Speaker 1: who did so.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I do not think what you did was rude.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I don't have the cojones to do this, but I'm
- 12:59Speaker 1: glad someone did. Okay, the world needs followers too, the
- 13:02Speaker 1: world needs ditch figgers too. And when it comes time
- 13:05Speaker 1: to have a little confrontation in line at the at
- 13:09Speaker 1: target or the gas station, I'm just gonna probably shut up.
- 13:13Speaker 1: But I love when someone says something, So call me
- 13:16Speaker 1: a WUS basically, but I am glad he said something.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Because there's a social rule. We all gotta follow and
- 13:22Speaker 1: we go out and buy something, pick something up, and
- 13:24Speaker 1: as you just wait your turn in line.
- 13:25Speaker 2: It is what it is. If this happened at the DMV,
- 13:28Speaker 2: everybody would freak out.
- 13:29Speaker 3: What do you think? Seven oh one two aoh one
- 13:32Speaker 3: nine eight seven. We also have this up on the
- 13:35Speaker 3: big ninety eight point seven Facebook page. I think he
- 13:38Speaker 3: should have let it go. Brantley, Yes, it is a problem.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Just because she's old, she gets to do whatever she
- 13:44Speaker 3: wants kinda kinda Yeah, listen, I get that it's annoying,
- 13:49Speaker 3: but and I get that the line was long, but bruh,
- 13:53Speaker 3: Like that's the hill you want to die on? Is
- 13:56Speaker 3: like this old lady can't cut. You know how much
- 13:59Speaker 3: adversity that woman has probably had to face using my
- 14:02Speaker 3: own life. That's right. By virtue of being old, times
- 14:06Speaker 3: were harder back in the day. How by virtue of
- 14:10Speaker 3: being a woman, things are harder. Like let this woman
- 14:13Speaker 3: cut in line. It's not a big deal, especially because
- 14:16Speaker 3: no one else said anything. You said that everyone noticed,
- 14:19Speaker 3: but they didn't say anything, so clearly everybody else was
- 14:23Speaker 3: fine with it. The only person who had an issue
- 14:26Speaker 3: was you. And I feel like you should take some
- 14:29Speaker 3: time to reflect and think why that really bothered you
- 14:33Speaker 3: so much.
- 14:33Speaker 1: If you're listening this morning and you remember this happening
- 14:36Speaker 1: to you at Target the other day, I want to
- 14:39Speaker 1: know if you were jacked that Brantley said something or not,
- 14:42Speaker 1: because I would have been thrilled. Seven oh one two
- 14:44Speaker 1: eight zero one nine eight seven. What do you think
- 14:47Speaker 1: here this morning? This is kind of at the and
- 14:49Speaker 1: the grand scheme of things. Is this that big of
- 14:52Speaker 1: a deal. No, but I love that you said something, Brandley.
- 14:56Speaker 3: I don't.
- 15:02Speaker 4: The problem.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I've noticed over the years old people are oblivious. Old
- 15:07Speaker 1: people are oblivious, and makes sense that they just budged.
- 15:11Speaker 2: It's happened to me. I'm with you, Gabe.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I wouldn't have said anything because I hate confrontation, but
- 15:16Speaker 1: I totally would be mentally giving this guy a standing ovation.
- 15:21Speaker 2: That is from Nick this morning? Am I the problem?
- 15:24Speaker 3: So Brantley was in line at Target. There was a
- 15:27Speaker 3: whole line. An old lady comes up to the line,
- 15:30Speaker 3: just cuts everybody. No one says anything except Brantlee. He
- 15:35Speaker 3: stood up for social justice and told this woman to
- 15:39Speaker 3: get to the back of the line, and she did.
- 15:42Speaker 3: But his girlfriend and some people in the line were whispering.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I was so rude. So Brantley wants to know is
- 15:50Speaker 3: he the problem? Was he rude or should this old
- 15:52Speaker 3: lady have followed societal conventions?
- 15:56Speaker 1: And we're starting to find out here today there's a
- 15:59Speaker 1: lot of people in the FM area who our bunch
- 16:02Speaker 1: of chickens, just like Nick and I. We had Liz
- 16:05Speaker 1: who also chimed in, and she basically said the same thing.
- 16:10Speaker 1: She said, so glad he said something like you, Gabe,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I wouldn't have said anything, but I would have given
- 16:15Speaker 1: the guy a wink or a head nod in approval
- 16:18Speaker 1: for saying something.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Well, Brianna flat out said I probably would have said
- 16:25Speaker 3: something too, so she doesn't think that Brandley's the problem.
- 16:28Speaker 3: And she's also not a chicken like you gives.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I know, I'm a big woos.
- 16:33Speaker 1: We had Yolando who said, not that it's okay, but
- 16:36Speaker 1: for an elderly person, I probably would have let it go.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Okay. That's where my head is that obviously I know
- 16:42Speaker 3: that you shouldn't be cutting in a line, but for
- 16:44Speaker 3: an elderly person, I'm not going to die the hit
- 16:46Speaker 3: on the hill of socially policing the elderly.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you're you're now you know girl or guy who
- 16:52Speaker 1: snapped at elderly person in the target line for life.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Especially by the way, my Mikey my boyfriend, and is
- 17:00Speaker 3: an elderly person. And if he accidentally cuts someone in
- 17:04Speaker 3: the line, I would want them to cut him some slack,
- 17:07Speaker 3: if I had to guess, I don't think the old
- 17:09Speaker 3: lady was like doing anything malicious.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so he moved to the back shot she did. Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And then we did have van who said I don't
- 17:20Speaker 1: care about her age. I waited in line, so should
- 17:23Speaker 1: so should she? And then they also added in and
- 17:26Speaker 1: by the way, I was not the victim. Now, this
- 17:30Speaker 1: reminds me of a story of my mother. This is
- 17:32Speaker 1: why I wish I had the cojones of my mother.
- 17:36Speaker 1: My sister used to play in this softball league and
- 17:38Speaker 1: they would have two of these massive tournaments every year.
- 17:41Speaker 1: It was on this giant, giant, giant field where there
- 17:44Speaker 1: was like four softball fields a ga jillion acres of
- 17:47Speaker 1: space in the middle. And what teams would do is
- 17:49Speaker 1: between games they'd go warm up and like practice in
- 17:52Speaker 1: the middle of the field because there was tons of room. Yeah,
- 17:54Speaker 1: and my sister was in a game and there was
- 17:56Speaker 1: a coach who had his team practicing kind of right
- 18:00Speaker 1: in line with where all these parents were sitting, kind
- 18:03Speaker 1: of in left field, okay, And all the parents kind
- 18:06Speaker 1: of whispered and complained and hated it, and my mother
- 18:09Speaker 1: did would not have it at all. She stood up
- 18:12Speaker 1: after about two minutes of this and made a big
- 18:14Speaker 1: giant scene yelling no, no, no, no, no, no, no, go
- 18:18Speaker 1: get out there with all the other teams in YadA YadA, YadA,
- 18:22Speaker 1: And eventually the guy did kind of concede. He was
- 18:25Speaker 1: a real jerk about it, but he did concede and
- 18:27Speaker 1: move out to the field, and a bunch of other
- 18:29Speaker 1: parents thanked my mother for saying something, because we're all
- 18:33Speaker 1: just a bunch of chickens and afraid of confrontation like that.
- 18:36Speaker 1: So I have first hand experience of my mother kind
- 18:39Speaker 1: of standing up to someone who's just socially unaware and
- 18:43Speaker 1: or doesn't care. And I wish I received some of
- 18:46Speaker 1: that gumption, because.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I did not.
- 18:48Speaker 3: I was gonna say, so, your mom is the one
- 18:51Speaker 3: who will stand up one and you didn't get that.
- 18:53Speaker 3: So you get your chicken hood from your.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Firm one hundred percent. I also have one more I
- 18:59Speaker 1: was in Dinky if you don't know what that is.
- 19:01Speaker 1: That's the University of Minnesota visiting a bunch of buddies
- 19:04Speaker 1: who went to school there where we were, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 1: twenty one, twenty two years old, just bar hopping, and
- 19:09Speaker 1: I went into the bathroom, the dude's bathroom, and had
- 19:11Speaker 1: had this big giant line at one of the bars there,
- 19:14Speaker 1: and there was this guy who walked in budged in
- 19:17Speaker 1: front of everybody. And it's a little different when you're
- 19:20Speaker 1: in a room full of bunch of dudes that have
- 19:21Speaker 1: been drinking all day. You know. Everyone kind of said
- 19:23Speaker 1: something and he said, Hey, I was in the military.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I'm going ahead of all of you, right, oh, And
- 19:28Speaker 1: so the rest of us kind of shut up. We
- 19:29Speaker 1: don't want to be the dude who snapped that military guy. Yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 1: but little did he know my good buddy Chris had
- 19:36Speaker 1: just got out of the military and pulled the old
- 19:39Speaker 1: absolutely not dude get in the bathroom line.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So once again, that's a second occasion where I just
- 19:45Speaker 1: sat there and went, Okay, at the very least.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Do you surround yourself with people who will stand up
- 19:50Speaker 3: and do the right thing.
- 19:58Speaker 1: A lot of kiddos in the FM area beginning summer vacation.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And what is the best part about summer vacation other
- 20:05Speaker 1: than you maybe get to sleep in, you know, you
- 20:07Speaker 1: get to go stay up a little later. There's a
- 20:10Speaker 1: lot of cool things about summer vacation. But what's that
- 20:14Speaker 1: old saying, what can go wrong will inevitably.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Go wrong Murphy's law.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah, have you ever had.
- 20:20Speaker 1: A summer summer trip, a summer vacation, a summer plan
- 20:25Speaker 1: that it really just ended up not working out how
- 20:28Speaker 1: you had hoped for? Now, we do hope you have
- 20:30Speaker 1: a wonderful summer filled with joy and laughter and the
- 20:34Speaker 1: least amount of adversity is possible, but it's good to
- 20:37Speaker 1: go through some adversity once in a while.
- 20:39Speaker 3: My gosh, you know what, there was a year, a
- 20:42Speaker 3: couple of years back where I had made this like
- 20:45Speaker 3: big summer plan to go to Universal Studios with the kiddos,
- 20:52Speaker 3: and it was a big family trip.
- 20:54Speaker 4: And then.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Unexpectedly but expectedly, the timing just didn't work out right
- 21:01Speaker 3: where my ex and I decided to get a divorce,
- 21:08Speaker 3: but the trip was already planned, so we had to
- 21:11Speaker 3: do this family trip to Universal split as ex'es, and
- 21:16Speaker 3: we hadn't told the kids yet Yeah, so we just
- 21:19Speaker 3: kind of had Yeah. Yeah, the kids had a good time,
- 21:24Speaker 3: and that's what's important. But I that really just didn't
- 21:27Speaker 3: turn out the way I thought it was going to.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Seven one two zero one nine eight seven.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Did you ever have a summer trip or plan or
- 21:35Speaker 1: something that really didn't turn out how you wanted it to.
- 21:38Speaker 1: This is up on Facebook and brought well, I just
- 21:41Speaker 1: ruined that. I was gonna maybe not say Brian's name,
- 21:44Speaker 1: but I already commented it. Yeah, Brian said, My mother
- 21:47Speaker 1: in law came with, oh.
- 21:49Speaker 3: No, yeah, that'll ruin some things for sure.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I'm assuming that relationship is great. This happened to me
- 21:57Speaker 1: just last summer. I mean last summer, Corey and I
- 22:00Speaker 1: my wife, we were doing a just kind of a
- 22:02Speaker 1: Fourth of July trip with some of her family to
- 22:05Speaker 1: Lake Itasca in Minnesota. And the first day it was great,
- 22:10Speaker 1: and then the second day, you know how it's fun
- 22:13Speaker 1: to be outside and enjoying the outdoors until it's like
- 22:16Speaker 1: too hot.
- 22:18Speaker 2: It was heat index hot.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Now we still got to have a fun day, you know,
- 22:22Speaker 1: kind of playing in this lake. But after that it poured,
- 22:27Speaker 1: and I mean poured poured, like you can't drive your
- 22:30Speaker 1: car poor. Oh it was terrible, and we saw this
- 22:34Speaker 1: rain on the way. And then my grandfather in law,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I guess is what you call him. He had like
- 22:41Speaker 1: this hydraulic camper that was on the back of his truck. Yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 1: and something happened where these hydraulics malfunctioned and this thing
- 22:50Speaker 1: tipped over and essentially was ruined. Yeah, it completely broke.
- 22:55Speaker 1: So this happens right before this downpour. I'm talking heavy droplets,
- 23:01Speaker 1: can't even really drive out of the park type.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Rain, and this thing is tipped on.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Oh my god, and we're all standing around thinking, well,
- 23:08Speaker 1: what do we do? And then a bunch of people
- 23:10Speaker 1: in this campground walk on over going well what do
- 23:12Speaker 1: you do? And we had no answer, and then it
- 23:17Speaker 1: poured everywhere.
- 23:19Speaker 2: It was terrible.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I think what they ended up doing was they left
- 23:22Speaker 1: it there and we all just kind of left.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Sadly.
- 23:25Speaker 1: We had to cut the camping trip short. And then, uh,
- 23:28Speaker 1: of course it was perfect the next couple of days.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But they got the camper out as one of his
- 23:34Speaker 1: brothers or brother in law's had a big trailer and
- 23:36Speaker 1: they went and it was terrible and then everyone feels
- 23:40Speaker 1: bad for you. But of course then now everyone is
- 23:42Speaker 1: like looking at you because this thing collapse and makes
- 23:45Speaker 1: a big giant noise.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was, oh my god.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Looking back on that, it's like wow, like we were
- 23:51Speaker 1: that camp site for a day.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yeah, Wow, that had.
- 23:54Speaker 2: The big giant aciversity least that's right.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Justin said vehicle got locked in a town with no
- 24:01Speaker 1: tow truck or anything. It was a new vehicle, and
- 24:05Speaker 1: when the tow truck came after two hour way to
- 24:07Speaker 1: the dealership, it started to work at the dealership. A
- 24:10Speaker 1: major delay in our deluthe trip two years ago. Car
- 24:15Speaker 1: trouble on a road trip. It is literally the worst
- 24:17Speaker 1: thing that can go wrong.
- 24:18Speaker 3: The worst, you know what. When I was just my
- 24:22Speaker 3: niece graduated, so we went out. Her grad trip was
- 24:25Speaker 3: to Zion. Yeah, and it was fourteen of us and
- 24:29Speaker 3: so my brother had booked a Verbo and we get
- 24:32Speaker 3: to the Verbo ants everywhere the back door left completely
- 24:37Speaker 3: wide open and dead roach is scattered throughout, and in
- 24:41Speaker 3: the laundry room it smelled like there was a gas leak.
- 24:44Speaker 3: So we were like great cats sing here. N Yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 3: thankfully we got to cancel that. Booked an airbnb that
- 24:53Speaker 3: was literally like a walk across a driveway and that
- 24:56Speaker 3: worked out. But gosh, when you get to you're on
- 24:59Speaker 3: a old trip, not in your town. You get to
- 25:02Speaker 3: the vacation rental and it's infested with bugs. One a
- 25:06Speaker 3: night mare.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah, seven oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Have you ever had a summer trip, a summer vacation
- 25:11Speaker 1: where there was really a big, giant bump of the
- 25:13Speaker 1: road and you faced some adversity? Hopefully that doesn't happen
- 25:16Speaker 1: to you this summer.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Some good.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 25:26Speaker 5: Good News on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 25:30Speaker 1: One of the best parts of summer in the FM
- 25:32Speaker 1: area is seeing thousands of people come together for Happy
- 25:35Speaker 1: Harry's rib Vest, and this year's event served up another
- 25:39Speaker 1: great story. Blazon Bronco Barbecue from Cleveland, Ohio, took home
- 25:43Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six Critics Choice Award, earning top honors
- 25:48Speaker 1: among six nationally recognized rib teams. And what makes the
- 25:53Speaker 1: win even sweeter is the reason behind it, Pitmaster Gary Carino,
- 25:57Speaker 1: who if you remember, we talked to here on Big
- 25:59Speaker 1: nine the point, Gary and Solomon from.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Carolina Carolina Ribking, rib King, thank you.
- 26:05Speaker 1: They were in here right during Happy Harry's Ribfest to
- 26:08Speaker 1: talk with us and Dennis Carino, who helped build the
- 26:12Speaker 1: Blazon Bronco legacy over more than three decades on the
- 26:16Speaker 1: barbecue circuit. After finishing second the past two years, Blazing Bronco,
- 26:21Speaker 1: Gary and his team, they climbed back to the top
- 26:24Speaker 1: and brought the trophy home. So a big congratulations to
- 26:27Speaker 1: Blazon Bronco and here's to another year of great food
- 26:31Speaker 1: friendly competition and a community that traditionally brings more than
- 26:35Speaker 1: like fifty thousand people together each summer. And it was
- 26:38Speaker 1: so cool to be a part of Angie and I
- 26:40Speaker 1: were there. What feels like every day? Aah what for
- 26:43Speaker 1: one reason or the other? And it was so much
- 26:46Speaker 1: fun and it was kind of funny. I did mention
- 26:48Speaker 1: this at six' ten when we start the show off
- 26:50Speaker 1: with our little, victories there has been a photo of
- 26:54Speaker 1: myself and the other judges for this competition floating around
- 26:58Speaker 1: on THE. Tv so that was a little pat on
- 27:00Speaker 1: the back for. ME i was, like all, RIGHT i made.
- 27:02Speaker 1: It when you get to be a rib judge or a,
- 27:06Speaker 1: critic what was it called the Critic Critics, Choice, yeah
- 27:09Speaker 1: it was pretty. Cool so it's kind of fun seeing
- 27:11Speaker 1: me and you, know coach Poulosek on there are our
- 27:14Speaker 1: winner who chimed in with a bunch of people who
- 27:16Speaker 1: wanted to be a part of the, judging and we
- 27:18Speaker 1: also Had farley who was a coworker with, us and
- 27:21Speaker 1: Then zach From Happy harry's as one of the.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Judges it was really really.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Cool, well good on, You. GARY i got to interview
- 27:27Speaker 3: him before before before it was announced to one and
- 27:32Speaker 3: he called me a, sweetheart So i'm very glad that he.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Won and then also a big shout out To solomon
- 27:38Speaker 1: who was in With carolina rib Rib king taking home
- 27:41Speaker 1: three number of the third spot.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Whatever, yeah and then Awesome azzie took second. Place it
- 27:46Speaker 3: was just such a good family fun event and my
- 27:49Speaker 3: kids the next day they really got in on some
- 27:53Speaker 3: ribs At blazon Uh Blazon.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Bronco Yeahson. Bronco, yeah very very fun that With Happy
- 28:00Speaker 2: harry's Rib.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Fest it's just you talk so much about it leading
- 28:02Speaker 1: up to, it doing all the promoting of it and
- 28:05Speaker 1: talking about, it and then you kind of blinking it
- 28:07Speaker 1: sort of. Over but it does really feel like summer
- 28:10Speaker 1: has officially.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Started, Yeah summer has officially been ushered in thanks To
- 28:15Speaker 3: Happy harry's Rip.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Fest broken, crams they still, color and the world is
- 28:18Speaker 1: full of nice. People if you can't find, one you
- 28:21Speaker 1: gotta be.
- 28:21Speaker 2: One
