- 0:43SPEAKER_04: Did you spill, man?
- 0:44SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 0:45SPEAKER_04: I got, yeah.
- 0:45SPEAKER_04: I was I was so excited about the What's You Drinking segment.
- 0:48SPEAKER_04: I just spilled my stupid La Croix everywhere.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: Um, that's a problem later.
- 0:52SPEAKER_04: That's okay.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: At least it wasn't a Pacific o.
- 0:54SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 0:55SPEAKER_04: It wasn't a voice of Pacific O.
- 0:56SPEAKER_04: That's okay.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: Easy Clayton.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Oh man.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Ladies and gentlemen, so glad you're here tonight.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: Tonight, we are doing the predictions pod.
- 1:02SPEAKER_04: We're gonna make all of our picks for the week.
- 1:03SPEAKER_04: It's going to be a big hoot.
- 1:05SPEAKER_04: Uh we'll have we'll have a great time ripping it up in December.
- 1:07SPEAKER_04: Before I do that, I forgot to.
- 1:09SPEAKER_04: This last time we recorded, I want you guys to get to know to co-host a little bit.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna let them do this.
- 1:13SPEAKER_04: I guess I got questions for you.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: I got your name, I want your favorite team.
- 1:16SPEAKER_04: I want you to tell us your best college football experience and your worst college football experience.
- 1:23SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Darren here.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: So hokey fan since uh enrolled in '98.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Um same same entering class as Michael Vick.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: So I was there for all of that goodness.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Went to New Orleans for the national championship.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: Didn't go in the arena, went to like the side arena in New Orleans and like watched it on a big screen or something.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Uh lost that game.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Is that my worst?
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: It was pretty darn fun to be in New Orleans for a national championship with Mike Vick wearing your uh wearing your your colors.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Um, best experience.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna go back to next year.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Uh sorry, last year, me and Michael went on a road trip for the ages, went to um Clemson, South Carolina, met up with some bros, went to uh to watch the LSU Tigers win at Clemson, amazing, very next day, drove down to Atlanta, uh, went to see the Virginia Tech Hokies, played a decent amount of football.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Not a whole game, not a whole game, not a whole game, but we had a hoot, it was a wonderful time.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: That was a great college football experience.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Michael.
- 2:32SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Um, worst one, I don't know.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: I was I was there a couple years ago in Blacksburg when we got rained out.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: The beginning of the game was rained out.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Michael, you were there too.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, the Purdue game.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Purdue game.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: We had to wait a half hour just to get in the stadium.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Then 18 plays into the game, it was rained out for four hours, and we huddled uh in the hallways, and it was awful.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Less said about that, the better.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: Good stuff, good stuff.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Mr.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Franson.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: Uh, Mark Franson.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: What were the questions?
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: Your favorite team.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Oh man, this year, so last year I jumped on the Illinois bandwagon, and then this year I am now an Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Um, my Iowa Hawkey's hat will be coming in shortly.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Um, greatest college football experience.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Man, there's um, I mean, there were two games that I remember that I loved.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: First of all, 2009, Nebraska at Virginia Tech, and Danny Cole caught a pass from Tarod Taylor with like minutes left.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: It was one of the coolest college football games ever.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: And the Nebraska fans were awesome.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Afterwards, their souls were crushed.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: I think the Hokies fans were good, and the Nebraska fans were like, hey, that was a good game.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: Namek and Sue played in that game.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Um, that was a solid game.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: The other one that was really good is uh uh my wife had season tickets to the Virginia Tech when we met.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: And as a small school man from Chicago, I didn't have a lot of great college football experiences, which may be my bad experience.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: But we went to the was it the 2009 Orange Bowl against Cincinnati in Miami, and that was another one that was just like what a what a great experience.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Um the other one I did see Notre Dame beat UVA in that last second pass, like Will Fuller, I think, caught it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: The ball, that's right.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Every time I've been to UVA for a game, it's been fantastic.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: That one against Notre Dame, and then last year against Florida State, where uh Mike rushed the field and got knocked over by a UVA.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: And Darren came with me.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I was there.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, but he'd get knocked over by a player.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Worst college football experience was probably my entire college career at North Central College in Illinois, where I was the uh the broadcast voice of our football team, and we won probably I was gonna say five, ten, thirteen games.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: We were like 13 and 30.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Um, but it was still fun traveling and um and calling those games on the radio.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Sounds probably my worst is I didn't see a lot of winning football in college.
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: That's okay.
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: Good stuff.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Those are awesome stories.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: I don't think I knew all those.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: I've known you guys for quite some time.
- 4:59SPEAKER_04: That's good stuff.
- 5:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no kidding.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: That's great.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: So uh like I said, we're gonna do some predictions tonight.
- 5:05SPEAKER_04: Well, this is obviously this is a goal.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: We're gonna set some expectations, we're gonna put some flags in the ground.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: This is our chance to say you didn't see that coming, you didn't know what you're doing, or what are you talking about?
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: You have to you have to say things, you have to stand by, you have to stand by some objective truths.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna lay down some facts for you, we're gonna tell you what's gonna happen this fall, and maybe help you win some money.
- 5:24SPEAKER_04: Who knows?
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: But we're calling our shots now.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: We invite all of you to respond with comments, send us emails, get in Discord, send us yours as well.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: We'll start with some bold predictions.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: So these are exactly what it sounds like.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: These are just bold predictions, things that no one's talking about, no one sees coming.
- 5:41SPEAKER_04: We each got a couple of them.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: We're gonna work through them and we'll have a chance to uh analyze them.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go ahead and jump right in with my first one.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Oklahoma, oh yeah, here we go.
- 5:49SPEAKER_04: Oklahoma State is going to make the Big 12 championship game.
- 5:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: Oklahoma State one and 11 last year.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: They hired Eric Morris from North Texas.
- 5:59SPEAKER_04: They brought pretty much the entire offense with them, including probably, for my money, the best Big 12 offensive battery in White Young, a receiver, uh Caleb Hawkins, a running back, and Drew Messenmacher, who's might be a Heisman finalist, honestly, at quarterback.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: Prolific offense.
- 6:12SPEAKER_04: They got went the portal, got some pieces of defense.
- 6:15SPEAKER_04: The Big 12 after Texas Tech is a anyone's game.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Roll the dice.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of teams that can play.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: Oklahoma State is currently, I think, about the eighth best odds to win the conference.
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna shock a lot of people.
- 6:27SPEAKER_04: They're going to the Big 12 conference game.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: I can't call them to win, but they're going to the Big 12 conference championship game.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Nice one.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: That's a that's a three out of five star boldness.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Maybe three and a half.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Maybe three and a half.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: I'll take that.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: I'll take that.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: I got one for you.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Got one for you.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Um, last season, one of the top stories was that in the season there were 12 head coaches fired.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: This year, over.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Over.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: 13 or more head coaches will be fired before the last game of the season.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Before oh, you're saying in season.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: In season.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: In season.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Oh, I missed the caveat.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: I I think that I think that universe universities are just catching up to the new the new program.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: You know, we need we're gonna do things differently, Mike Luxley at Maryland.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: We don't want we don't want you in your five winning ways anymore.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: We got to compete.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: We want some we want somebody that the donors will be excited about.
- 7:26SPEAKER_04: I love this bold prediction because it's actually you you're not calling a prediction, you're calling a trend, which I think you might be spot on about.
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: I think you're talking about the way college football is evolving and it's no longer waiting until recruiting season or signing day, whatever the hell that is anymore.
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: Like now it's if he's not the guy, get him out, get him in.
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: And I'm looking at a list of nine, 10 guys right now I could easily see getting the almighty axe.
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: Love that.
- 7:50SPEAKER_04: Over 12 coaches before the last snap of the National Championship.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, before before Rivalry Week.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: My guy was first last year.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Britt Pratt went on September.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: September 14th.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: Hopefully that doesn't happen again in Blacksburg.
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: That was the that was a 2025 thing, not 26.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: All right, so I was so bad they they brought him back as defensive coordinator.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: And Darren, I think that's a great call because like the amount of money that's going into college football is kind of like the NFL.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: Like, there's no there's short leashes now.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: There's no like get your feet wet and go.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: But my prediction is a guy who's been coaching for a while, his team still has a ton of talent.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: I think Clemson makes the college football playoff this year.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: Big baby on Prince Fizzina.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Go ahead.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Uh I think I think they get their act together.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: I think I oh Dabo.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: This is the Dabo's chance to prove that without Brent Venables, like that was his Batman to his Robin, Robin to his Batman.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: Um, this is his chance.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: I think they still have the talent, and I think Clemson comes back this year and uh and makes the playoffs.
- 8:54SPEAKER_04: I think he has to.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: I mean, I don't know.
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: I mean, playoff, playoff, he might not need playoffs to save his job, but Clemson is still a heavy roster with heavy hitters on it, lots of talent.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: Not as good as last year, but I mean, there are a lot there.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: I mean, they've they probably have the the best wide receiver duo in college football, and Brian Wesco and TJ Moore.
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: Like they've got guys, so like they should be there, um, but they're not getting the respect uh they should be getting in the ACC pre season.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: He's talking the part, he's looking like it too.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: He's everything he says, he's so confident that they're gonna win 10 or 11 games.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: He has all of his players and staff believing the same thing, too.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Anything less is a disappointment.
- 9:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, too bad he's gonna run into a buzzsaw week one in Batman's week.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: 11 game season.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: 11 games after that.
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: 11 and 1.
- 9:38SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: Uh my next, my turn.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 9:41SPEAKER_04: Here he goes.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: Uh, talk about Tom Texas.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: We haven't talked about Texas yet.
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: Obviously, Texas is obviously one of the major programs in this country.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: Quinn Ewers is gonna go down as the better Texas quarterback compared to Arch Manning by a long shot.
- 9:56SPEAKER_04: Quinn Ewers due for 9,000 yards, 70 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 27-8 record, two playoffs, one Big 12 title.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: Arch isn't gonna do anything this year.
- 10:06SPEAKER_04: He is going to get murdered by that schedule.
- 10:09SPEAKER_04: The I mean, he had a he he he looked bad the first half of last year, second half, things got together.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: He might string some wins together.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna miss.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: I think they're going eight and four, seven and five.
- 10:19SPEAKER_04: Their schedule is number, I think, the hardest in the country.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: It's absolutely brutal.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Uh, he's gonna be hit facing incredible defensive lines and safeties every week.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: Uh, and it's gonna get to him, it's gonna rattle him, and he's not, I just don't think he's that guy.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: And so oh, and he's coming back for 2027.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: We talked about quarterbacks coming out.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: He's not gonna not he's not only knocking the Heisman, knock on the undraft, he's coming back for 2027 after a mediocre 2026.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: And after that, Texas fans are gonna look back and say, you know what?
- 10:45SPEAKER_04: Quinn Ewers was better.
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: So give me Quinn Ewers over Arch Manning today, tomorrow, and in the future.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Wow, two years of Arch Manning starting as a Heisman favorite, and then they're gonna end up saying, We're glad that guy's gone.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: Yep, that's right.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: That's coming.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Old baby.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: All right, next one over here.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: I got quarterbacks as well.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: So last year we saw um Old Miss uh made it made an injury change to um to uh Chambliss.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: What's his first name?
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Trinidad.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Trinidad Chambliss.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: So what we saw in the playoff was 12 teams.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: One of them had a quarterback that did not plan to start in the beginning of the season to start week one.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: This year, the playoff is gonna include two quarterbacks that did not start week one.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Bold prediction.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: So this includes injuries or just bench year out, either way.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: Anyway it goes.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we got 12 teams coming, and I say that that so and how you got Alabama.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Keelan Russell's gonna start.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: This just in.
- 12:29SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Keelan Russell's name the thing.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: Very easily he could he could be surplanted.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Same thing in Tennessee.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: If Tennessee ends up making a playoffs, on his heels, George McIntyre's on phase of the three.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Throw in and throw in an injury in there, and I'd say we see the we see the trend uh bump up a notch this year.
- 12:47SPEAKER_04: Sam Levitt could go down Hudson Long Street, Long Street could still backup.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: I could I could and programs are just a little deeper.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: Programs are just they have a qu have a backup quarterback.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna roll out somebody with a broken foot just because he's your only guy.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: The only concern for me that with that take is like is how much bleeding will that first quarterback go?
- 13:06SPEAKER_04: Like if they lose, like the the the Austin Simmons to Trinidad uh transition was seamless.
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: You know, old miss was kind of a fringe playoff game anyway, and then Trinidad took off.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: Like, if let's just say for hypothetical, let's say I'm right about Arch Manning, and he bombs for three, four games, they might get knocked out of the playoffs before the backup can get them back in.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 13:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so that's why that's why I like that bold prediction.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: That was it's particularly bold.
- 13:31SPEAKER_04: Two non-week one quarterbacks in the playoffs.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: Good stuff.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: All right, Mark, what you got number two?
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Uh Bill Belichick will be a special assistant to some NFL's defensive team by Christmas.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: He is kicked out of North Carolina, and he is uh special assistant to like Sean McVeigh in LA or something.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: I toyed with the same prediction.
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: Does Jordan take the interim tag?
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: Is she the coach team until uh until they hire somebody else?
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you what, it's been so nice not to hear anything about those two so far.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: But if I'm hearing about them again, hopefully it's an unemployment line.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: You just get ready.
- 14:12SPEAKER_04: Love it.
- 14:13SPEAKER_04: All right, uh, number three, Alabama, my favorite team.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: Everybody knows that.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: Alabama is going to lose four straight games.
- 14:22SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 14:23SPEAKER_04: Four straight Georgia, Tennessee, AM, and LSU.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna tell you why.
- 14:32SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna tell you why.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: Last year, Calen DeBore's team, for as well good as they were, they couldn't do two things.
- 14:38SPEAKER_04: They couldn't run the ball and they couldn't stop the run.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: They were soft.
- 14:42SPEAKER_04: It was un is it was I couldn't believe my eyes.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: This is the most un Saban-like Bama teams I've ever seen.
- 14:49SPEAKER_04: Alabama is known for blue chip signature violence at the offensive line, defensive line, pushing guys around all the time, creating big lanes, uh Derek Henry, uh you name it.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: Uh just and like end the string of just uh high hot top flight running backs, Najee Harris, all those guys.
- 15:05SPEAKER_04: They couldn't do it last year.
- 15:06SPEAKER_04: Their running game was terrible.
- 15:08SPEAKER_04: They lost their entire offensive line.
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: They're bringing back one starter.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: They lost a first-round quarterback.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: I'm as high as anybody on Keelan Russell.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: I think he's a phenomenal uh prospect.
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: But you tell me you got a worse offensive line and a worse quarterback, you're gonna get better at running the ball.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: In the SEC, you have to run the ball, you have to punch with a mouth consistently, especially when you're talking about playing games physical, physically just in strenuous games, game after game like that.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: Alabama is soft.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: S O F T, soft, and they're gonna pay for it, they're gonna lose four straight by 246.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Four's a lot in losers in a whole season.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're gonna lose a whole lot.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: In a row, bold baby.
- 15:50SPEAKER_04: It'll be an awful Halloween season for down in a uh exclusive.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: There's gonna be a lot of happy people in Louisiana.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: I bet it brought you great joy to make that bold prediction, Michael.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: I did like it.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: All right, got next one.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: So one of my favorite parts of Saturday is just 9 a.m.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: college game day.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: And so we are seeing we we um, you know, Corso is not on the on the bench anymore.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: Unfortunate, he's the absolute GOAT, and you gotta suffer Pat McAfee now and all of his shenanigans.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: And what Pat McAfee loves to do is get up there and some point rip his shirt off.
- 16:27unknown: Yep.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Go totally tarps off.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: So my bold prediction was Pat McAfee is gonna get somebody else to take their shirt off, and the overline is one and a half because last year he had coach Dan Lanning go tarps off on college game day and went shirtless.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Well, when I looked into it a little bit farther, I gotta be honest.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: Aaron Donald also did the same thing last year.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: There were two college game day guests who went on there and went shirtless.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: This year, my bold prediction, over two and a half.
- 17:04SPEAKER_04: Over two and a over two shirts.
- 17:06SPEAKER_04: Is that week one you said?
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: Week one?
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: The whole the whole um season.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: Whole season, there will be one show where more than two and a half shows get ordered.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: No, the whole season, there's more than two.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, whole season we will have over two and a half guests.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: I'm hitting that over.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: Is that yeah, is that number even like reasonable?
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: It was two people last year.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was Aaron Donald, uh-huh, and it was Coach Dan Lanning.
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: Oh, it just doesn't count McAfee.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: This doesn't count McAfee.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, I think it's somebody besides McAfee.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: Okay, good take.
- 17:34SPEAKER_04: Good take, good take.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: I believe I think I do think it'll hit.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: I do think it'll hit, but it's a good take.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: At least three people.
- 17:40SPEAKER_04: All right, Mark, we'll finish out strong.
- 17:42SPEAKER_04: Let's do let's do one more.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: Vanderbilt is back as the doormat of the SEC this year.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: Oh, you are selling the stock.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Pavia's go, Pavia couldn't even make the mini camp in Baltimore.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: And I I think Vanderbilt, like I think he was the offense.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: Um, their coach is defensive-minded.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: I think I I Pavia did a great job of leading them, but I think they're back to earth.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: They haven't had a winning.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: There's like their first 10-game winning season ever.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Um they're back to the basement, baby.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: So, what's the line that you're drawing?
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: The worst team in the worst.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, no, they'll be the worst team in the SEC.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: What worst conference record?
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: I mean, worst conference record in the SEC.
- 18:32SPEAKER_04: I got you.
- 18:32SPEAKER_04: So, my only my only counter-arguments, I mean, I don't hate it.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: I don't hate their they're starting over, they lost Eli Stars, their second-round tight end.
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: He's really awesome.
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: I loved him.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's great.
- 18:40SPEAKER_04: They lost most of their defense, a lot of wideouts.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: Obviously, Diego Pavio was so good for playing off script and doing things, and like he was he was one of one.
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: He he's not NFL talent, but he is a one-of-one college quarterback.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: Did great things at Vanderbilt, including beating my beloved Tigers.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: A couple of things.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: One, I will say I really think Arkansas would be that team.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: Arkansas is so bad.
- 19:00SPEAKER_04: So it's gonna be tough to un to to to worst them, but to give a chance.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: And I also really like Clark Leigh.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Clark Lee, I think, I think is the right.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: I really do think he's a good coach for that school.
- 19:12SPEAKER_04: Um, but I mean, Jared Curtis, a true freshman, is gonna take a lot of shots behind that offensive line.
- 19:16SPEAKER_04: I have no idea who he's throwing the ball to.
- 19:18SPEAKER_04: He does not have a safety valve like he used to, so it's gonna be tough sledding in Nashville.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: Um, but at least at least the bars are fun.
- 19:25SPEAKER_04: So that's cool.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: All right, this is a little spicy because yeah, here's what Vegas says.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: So the bottom three teams in the SEC as far as win totals, four and a half, four and a half is the win total line for Arkansas, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Vanderbilt, five and a half.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so their predicted fourth fewest wins, but um, it's hard to be worse than Arkansas and Kentucky.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: We'll have to uh remind ourselves of this on October 17th when Arkansas visits Vanderbilt.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: This game is gonna be at stake.
- 19:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Oh race after next jersey on or something.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: So that's the title.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: All right, let's get let's keep it moving.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: Uh, we're gonna talk about coaches.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: So obviously, coaches are kind of the predominant force in college football.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Uh, people who that means they have a tremendous influence on these squads.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: Uh, teams kind of go high or low based on them.
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: So we are at a we are at the precipice, we are the tipping point for a lot of programs.
- 20:20SPEAKER_04: We're gonna talk about two questions.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: One, who's the first coach fired?
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: And two, who's the first coach on the hot seat that's gonna have such a good season they get some themselves off?
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: Uh so let's start with who's gonna be the first coach fired.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: And for this experience, we're keeping it just the uh power four conferences.
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm gonna go ahead.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: Uh, who wants anybody wanna start?
- 20:42SPEAKER_02: I will go first.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: All right, hit me.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: Hit it.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: By Halloween, Mike Norvell of Florida State will be fired.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: Me too.
- 20:51SPEAKER_02: You look at the unanimous look unanimous.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, did we really?
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: Number one.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: So first week they have uh they have New Mexico State win.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Then they're hosting SMU on Monday night, Labor Day weekend.
- 21:04SPEAKER_02: They're gonna lose on national television.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: Then they're going to Alabama.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: Was that one of the four losses you had in a row for them?
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Keep going.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Then they have a cupcake against Central Arkansas.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Then they host UVA, which I think they'll lose.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: They're at Louisville, who we know is gonna be better this year.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: And then, like I said, Clemson's gonna go to the playoffs and they're gonna beat them.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: They'll be three and five by Halloween, and he will be unemployed.
- 21:26SPEAKER_04: His buyouts come way down as well.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: Like I know Florida State has money problems, I know they've got some real challenges.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: They still have Deuce Robinson, who's one of the best wide receivers.
- 21:33SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: We watched he wasn't we watched him cross a touchdown pass eight feet in front of us in Charlottesville last year.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: He's still there, but I have no faith in Ashton Daniels, who is the who's the Auburn backup wash around.
- 21:44SPEAKER_04: Like he is not a good quarterback.
- 21:45SPEAKER_04: So yeah, for me, this was an easy decision.
- 21:47SPEAKER_04: I I won, I wanted to say Debohr, uh just because of my four-game uh losing streak call.
- 21:52SPEAKER_04: That would have been the one, but Norvell's gonna be gone before that happens.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: So I that's why, yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: I figured we all had the same one.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: That's why I wanted to go first.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's really just the week.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: You know, that's the real discussion.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Like, which week is it?
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: And I bet the people who are making big decisions in Florida State's front offices are just are just chomping at the bit, just tapping their toes.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're fundraising right now.
- 22:13SPEAKER_04: They're they're they are passing around a hat, see who's got what?
- 22:16SPEAKER_04: Let's go ahead and get this over with.
- 22:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, wow.
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: Humbly, we are out.
- 22:20SPEAKER_04: Man, well, we don't know any we don't need Florida State fans, do we?
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: Jesus.
- 22:23unknown: That's tough.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: All right, so I'll jump in with another um pretty obvious Belichick, Belichick gone.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: You don't know faith in the uh they have to be okay, okay.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: I don't, and I think Mark's exactly right, he's gonna be honestly collecting a paycheck in the NFL before.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Christmas.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: They recently fired Lombardi, who was in as their GM.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Something's going on at UNC right now, and I don't think it's a it's a good thing.
- 22:51SPEAKER_04: I think UNC was such a circus last year, it can't be worse.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: So I don't think I mean obviously the Jordan stuff's gotten real quiet.
- 22:58SPEAKER_04: I'll say a couple things that I like about UNC.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm not as well, I'm not as bearish, I should say, as you got.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: Uh last year, the last seven games, the defense plays well.
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: They did lose that linebacker trio, which was really, really good, but they still have.
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: I mean, give uh like you said, you said you said analyst, you said defensive analyst for a reason.
- 23:16SPEAKER_04: The man knows how to what a defense is supposed to look like.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: I think he's gonna have that.
- 23:20SPEAKER_04: On the offensive side, you've got uh super 25th year quarterback Billy Edwards, who's is nobody's first choice.
- 23:27SPEAKER_04: He had a good year at Maryland, went to Wisconsin, couldn't stay healthy back at UNC.
- 23:32SPEAKER_04: If you get the right version out of him, and the guy who's gonna do that, their offensive coordinator, that would be one motorcycle riding Bobby Petrino, who's an offensive savant.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: Like you could, I mean, you could squint, you could see it.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: A defense that'll be in the right position, play sound defense.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna have that.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: A healthy Billy Edwards with Bobby Petrino running the offense.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 23:54SPEAKER_04: Like, you're not telling, you know, like that's I'm not saying I'm I'm not saying they're going to the ACC championship, but like I could see a world where UNC isn't a total tire fire.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: I I can see it.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: I can see I can see also that the UNC is just embarrassed.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: They're kind of a laughing stock at this point about the whole Belichick thing.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: That the sooner they cut ties with him, the better, I think, as far as their PR.
- 24:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but winning, I'll tell you what, I'll tell you one thing that cures a lot of ills, winning.
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: He gets in he's he strings if a couple together a couple W's, he might get himself out of there.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm gonna go on the other side.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: We're talking about coaches that are gonna like do better.
- 24:26SPEAKER_04: They are on the hot seat now, and uh things are gonna they're gonna see the light.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: Then they're gonna turn the corner.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'll start.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Luke Fickle, Wisconsin.
- 24:34SPEAKER_04: I am bullish on the Badgers this year.
- 24:37SPEAKER_04: Uh, love Colton Joseph, the quarterback transfer from Old Dominion University.
- 24:40SPEAKER_04: They have ditched the air raid.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: I think they call they were calling it the dairy raid, uh, with whatever that gimmicky pass first offense getting back to a running game.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: Abu Sama's a good back.
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: They play good defense.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: They were top 25 defense.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: Their schedule was insanely brutal.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: They get a much better schedule this year.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: Um, and lastly, and the thing that nobody really talks about, they had top 25 defense last year, despite having being on their fifth string quarterback and their ninth string receiver, they played good defense all year.
- 25:06SPEAKER_04: They're gonna do that again.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: Better quarterback, better scheme, better schedule, better health.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Give me Wisconsin.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: Bullish on the Badgers.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: I got that as well.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: And I want to take a quick shout-out break.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: My wife um I said when I was coming up to do the pod, she was like, Oh, I got a bold prediction for you.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, Wisconsin Badgers, national champs.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: On the pod.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: So shout out to Abs.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: You heard it here first.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Uh go Badgers.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Go Badgers.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: For the shout-out.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I got uh Anna Monk here, Brian Muncie, Friends of the Podcast as the uh guest koozie today.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: So shout out Anna Bear and Brian.
- 25:43SPEAKER_02: I'm not legally allowed to support any Wisconsin sports, so I I I can't.
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: All right, who's the next coaches?
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: Uh coach on the comeback.
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: Who you got?
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: I got uh Shane Beamer, South Carolina.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: Now, last year where they won four games, maybe a little bit of a downturn.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: But all right.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Lenore Sellers has nothing to do but work at the driving range.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: We're not going to any classes this year.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it's the second year of our Brian's son as the offensive coordinator.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: I love David Boston or El Sean Jeffrey version 2.0, Nick Harbour, the wide receiver.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: That dude is a man among boys out there.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: I love watching him.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: And now, I don't think they're gonna make the playoffs, but I think Beamer's gonna do enough that they're gonna keep him around and uh they're gonna try.
- 26:31SPEAKER_02: Now, he said in a press conference last week it's playoffs or bust, but I I think he's got a little bit more there.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: They're more than they're a playoff, or I'm sorry, they're a bowl-worthy team this year.
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: So this this was my non, this is my if I didn't pick Wisconsin, I was gonna pick South Carolina.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: Look, they've got a potential superstar at three of the four top positions: Nick Harbour, uh Lenora Sellers, and Dylan Stewart, who's probably the first, either him or Colin Simmons from Texas, probably the first defensive end off the board.
- 26:57SPEAKER_04: They've totally revamped the offensive line.
- 26:59SPEAKER_04: They got a whole bunch of new transfers.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: They had probably the worst offensive line the SEC last year, which is really saying something.
- 27:04SPEAKER_04: Those are bad teams with offensive lines.
- 27:06SPEAKER_04: So Lenora Sellers should be upright.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: If he has time, if he can move the ball, I mean you've got superstars at a receiver, superstar defensive end, superstar quarterback.
- 27:16SPEAKER_04: Like they've got some ingredients.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying they're a complete roster like Georgia or Texas, but there's a lot to like about South Carolina.
- 27:22SPEAKER_04: So if I didn't pick Wisconsin, I was gonna take South Carolina as well.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: Totally agree.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: I'll move to um West Coast and just say Lincoln Riley works himself off of this list.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: He is talked about on these lists right now.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: Um, he's absolutely gonna come through in a very competitive and difficult Big Ten and you know make everybody very happy with nine wins or so uh for USC.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, will they be happy with nine wins at USC though?
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: Like I think their expectations are unrealistic.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: You know, Big Ten is the Big Ten is the class of the country now.
- 27:56unknown: It's true.
- 27:57SPEAKER_04: So they say it's true.
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: You know, it's he does live on these lists, he's always there because he never figures out defense.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: They hired Gary Patterson, the uh former TCU legend who was there for Jillian years and always had a pretty good defense.
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: I thought I was I I was really if I was sad to see Danson Lynn go back to Penn State, but that's his that's it that's his alma mater, of course.
- 28:13SPEAKER_04: He's gonna go back there.
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: Gary Patterson is a good DC.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: I mean that for Lincoln Riley, it's the same story as always.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: Figure out defense, and the sky's the limit.
- 28:21SPEAKER_04: Otherwise, the limit is eight-nine wins.
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: It's yeah, there it is.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: You're hitting it every time.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: So I think they'll be really happy in uh Southern Calvis here.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: I hope you're right on that one.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: I hope you're right on that one.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: I like I football is better when USC is uh super.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: All right, we're gonna do a quick uh power for uh conference draft.
- 28:41SPEAKER_04: Here's how it's gonna work we're gonna talk about teams that we think are going to make it to the conference championship games.
- 28:46SPEAKER_04: We're we're but instead of picking the same teams like we all just picked Norvell, we're doing it like a like a fantasy draft.
- 28:52SPEAKER_04: So I'll say I'll have the first pick, uh, Mark will the second, Darren third, fourth, mark fifth, sixth.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: That way we can kind of talk about more and more teams.
- 28:59SPEAKER_04: We'll assign a point uh if they make it to that based on their seating.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: So if Oregon is the first pick, they'll go one and Penn State's the sixth, they'll get six points.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: We'll kind of score it accordingly, and then we'll pick our conference champions.
- 29:09SPEAKER_04: Uh, does anybody care which conference we start with?
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: Big ten.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Big ten.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: Darren, you call the first one, let you be the one seed, and we'll go up.
- 29:18SPEAKER_04: We'll do you will go there, and you go one, mark two, give me three, four, and then we'll switch after that.
- 29:22SPEAKER_04: What do you got?
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: Number one, baby.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: One of the one of the top two programs in the whole country, Oregon Ducks.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Oregon Ducks, I think they've got it top to bottom.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: I love Notre Dame and I love Oregon this year.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: So give me Oregon.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: Mark.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, I'm gonna go with the uh national champions from last year, the Indiana Hoosers.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm gonna take uh I think there's a big three in the Big Ten that is just a cut above, and they're in the top seven leagues in the country.
- 29:50SPEAKER_04: Out of necessity, I will take Ohio State with my unsurprising third pick.
- 29:54SPEAKER_04: For my fourth pick, I'm gonna take Penn State.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: I actually think they are worse than UW, Michigan, and USC.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: I think their schedule is friendlier.
- 30:03SPEAKER_04: I think we're gonna be talking about a potentially 11-1, 10-2, kind of fraudulent Penn State.
- 30:09SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna backdoor their way in there.
- 30:11SPEAKER_04: So give me Penn State as my fourth pick.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: I don't know how state, Penn State.
- 30:14SPEAKER_04: Mark, what do you got for your fifth pick?
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: Love that.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: Do I get any bonus points if I go with my homer team of the Iowa Hawkey?
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: All right, you know what?
- 30:23SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna take Iowa.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: I'm on the Iowa bandwagon this year.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: I've been watching them this week.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, we almost beat Oregon last year on a rainy night.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: We were just like one minor field goal slip away from that victory.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: Um, and there was another game earlier in the year where they were competitive.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: I think Penn State, or maybe they no, they destroyed Penn State.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: Regardless, I think that team is good.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: And I'm gonna I'm gonna stick with my Homer bet.
- 30:47SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go with the Iowa Hawkey's.
- 30:49SPEAKER_02: Gohogos.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: What do you got?
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: All right, I'm just gonna go.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm gonna wrap it up with chalk.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go uh Michigan Wolverines.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: I thought you were gonna see it go that way.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: I think they're ready.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: I think um I love, love coach.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Love our new coach.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, Winningham, Utah.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: Whittingham.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: Love uh I think he's gonna do great with Bryce Underwood's gonna run, run, run, run, run.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Yep, yep, like that.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: And your uh conference championship, Darren, you said Oregon.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: Oregon.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: Oregon, Mark, what do you got?
- 31:13SPEAKER_04: Conference champ.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: Uh Indiana.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: Indiana.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna say Oregon as well.
- 31:18SPEAKER_04: Uh, I just I think they're flawless teams.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: I think I think Oregon's with them.
- 31:21SPEAKER_04: All right, let's do the Big 12.
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: Mark, you'll go first this time, and I'll go second.
- 31:25SPEAKER_04: Um, Mark, uh Darren, go third, fourth, and we'll do that way.
- 31:28SPEAKER_04: Mark, big 12.
- 31:29SPEAKER_04: Who you got?
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: Uh so last time I Iowa pick, I picked with my heart.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: This one I'm gonna pick with my head, and I'm going Texas Tech.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: Can't play into that.
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Good stuff.
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm gonna go with the Houston Cougars.
- 31:38SPEAKER_04: Uh, this is Willie Fritz.
- 31:40SPEAKER_04: This is uh Mikai Hughes coming back.
- 31:42SPEAKER_04: Connor Wagman could put it together.
- 31:44SPEAKER_04: Do not sleep on the Cougars.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: I think uh Willie Fritz is quietly one of quietly, maybe not so quietly, the best G6 quarterback.
- 31:51SPEAKER_04: I mean sorry, G6 coach.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: I think you'll be looking at him for uh make the P4 leap next year.
- 31:56SPEAKER_04: So it could be gonna be Houston.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: Oh sorry, sorry, sorry, a bigger P4 job.
- 32:00SPEAKER_04: Excuse me.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: All right, I'm picking third and actually get my number one pick, BYU.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: Give me BYU.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: I think they got the coach quarterback combination, um, returners go uh what the heck are they?
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: Cougars or something?
- 32:16SPEAKER_04: Cougars, that's right.
- 32:17SPEAKER_04: BYU Cougars.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Are there like three or four cougars in the Big 12?
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: There's yes, a lot of cats.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: So give me BYU and also give me K-State.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, new new coach has been head coach in waiting for a very long time.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: It's seamless, seamless head coach transition.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Um, and they got their QB for the fourth year or something.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: So they they're ready.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Colin Klein's opening the new stadium this year.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, sorry, go ahead.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: Yo, they're Colin Klein's been an outstanding offensive coach for a long time.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: Obviously, he was a quarterback at uh K-State back in the day, was on um Mike Elko's staff at Texas AM, did wonderful thing with Marcel Reid.
- 32:55SPEAKER_04: I think he's gonna unlock Avery Johnson.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: I really do think K-State has a really high ceiling uh for that.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: So I like that pick as well.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm gonna go.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: I've already kind of all I called I called my shot about Oki State.
- 33:07SPEAKER_04: Okie state, other team on my bold prediction.
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: I'll stick with them.
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: Give me Drew Mastermaker, Mike of New York.
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: I'll go Oki State and uh finish this out.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: Who's the last squad for you?
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: Uh I'm gonna take the last uh crumbs you've left on the table with Utah.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: Utah, Utah, love it.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: Utah right now at uh plus 900 to win the conference.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, close enough.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: All right, Mark, who got winning the who got win the whole conference?
- 33:29SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: Yep, Darren?
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: BYU.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: BYU.
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go Texas Tech as well.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: I just can't get away from them.
- 33:35SPEAKER_04: Too much, too much talent.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: Hopefully, it's my Houston Cougars might be Texas Tech.
- 33:38SPEAKER_04: All right, let's jump to the ACC.
- 33:41SPEAKER_04: Uh, I believe it's my turn to go first, so I'll I'll take the first one.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: Um, one of the teams I'm super high on this year, Miami.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: Uh nothing about the U.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: They are just rolling right now.
- 33:51SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna talk about Darren Mentz a little bit later.
- 33:53SPEAKER_04: Cooper Barcade, the other Duke transfer.
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: Give me the give me the canes.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: Uh, so I think Darren, you're second.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: Um I'm gonna do uh I'm gonna go Louisville.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: Louisville.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: Louisville, and I hope my uh hope my next pick waits for me at the fifth spot.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: We'll find out.
- 34:11SPEAKER_04: Uh Mark, you get three and four.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: All right, three will take SMU and four.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna steal Darren's Virginia Tech Hokies.
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: I knew you were going there.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: I knew you were going there.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: James Franklin's in town.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Bright Fry's now on defense where he should have been all along.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: It's so wide open.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's so wide open as to who's gonna play Miami.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Um, so one more spot.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: Oh man, uh this is tough.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go with uh Debo and the uh Tigers, though.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Good stuff, Clemson.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: I'll take the Wahoos, the other homer time.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: I like UVA.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: I like I like that they've been on offense, best one of the best offensive lines in the conference.
- 34:51SPEAKER_04: Uh I get a saw a pretty generous schedule again for UVA.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: So they avoid a lot of the big dogs.
- 34:56SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna go, I'm gonna say UVA uh is my last squad.
- 34:59SPEAKER_04: Conference winner, I'm taking Miami.
- 35:01SPEAKER_04: I just can't see any.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: I think I think they're miles apart, unfortunately, from everybody else.
- 35:04SPEAKER_04: Maybe Louisville, but it could be Miami.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: I gotta go Miami too.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: I hate it, but whatever.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: Uh I don't necessarily like Miami, and I did a lot of Louisville research, Louisville research when I was picking between them and Iowa, and I think I'm gonna go Louisville to win the ACC.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Wait a Zag.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: Wait a Zag, yeah.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: Thank you for having some cojones that I don't have.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: All right, last certainly not least, the SAC Southeastern Conference.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Who went first?
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: Darren, you went first the first time.
- 35:33SPEAKER_04: So you, I think you're first, Mark second, I'm third fourth.
- 35:36SPEAKER_04: Let's do it.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: Yep, heady.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: Give me give me Bulldogs, U G A.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, gotta go, gotta chalk.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: Loaded.
- 35:43SPEAKER_02: Uh, I can't let Mike have his own team.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: I'm going LSU.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, why do Giffins there?
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: I am you are spoiler.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: Guys, are they talking so I mean, dude, look where you're at.
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: Look who you've got.
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: Sam Levitt, you've got Giffin.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: I don't need to explain it to you.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: So I think you guys are gonna be good this year and probably gonna watch every single game.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: So all right.
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: I am third and fourth.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: Give me Oklahoma.
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna have the best defense in the country, potentially.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: And uh, I think John Mateer is a healthy injury.
- 36:09SPEAKER_04: Uh Isaiah Cetania is a phenomenal wide receiver.
- 36:12SPEAKER_04: Uh, they've got a got some really nice tight end pieces.
- 36:14SPEAKER_04: Uh, I think Oklahoma has some real super potential.
- 36:17SPEAKER_04: Uh, other than that, I'm gonna go Ole Miss.
- 36:19SPEAKER_04: Uh Kawan Lacey and uh Trinidad Chambless, probably the best backfield in the country.
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: So I'll take uh yeah, Oklahoma and Ole Miss.
- 36:27SPEAKER_04: Uh Mark, your fifth.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: Uh Texas, baby, Archie.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: I mean terrible pick.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: I'm just here.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: I'm just here to get it.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: I'll take your team and then I'll go with the team you think is gonna lose.
- 36:40SPEAKER_02: Going the exact opposite of everything you had.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: I gotta go, gosh, I gotta go Alabama.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: I'll take I'll take Bama.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: Loved your uh bull prediction, but uh they might just they might just string 10 wins together too.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: Uh who you got winning the conference, Mr.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: Stevin.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Uh give me, let me see.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Do I want to go chalk, Georgia?
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: Do I want to go?
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna do it too.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: I'll take LSU.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: Hey, how about that?
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: They're ready, ready to pounce.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Mark.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: I go LSU also.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: You guys, so nice of you.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: Do it, yeah.
- 37:16SPEAKER_04: I'm taking Georgia.
- 37:17SPEAKER_04: They win the conference every year.
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: It's like three of the last four.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: Until Georgia loses, I just I'm assuming I don't even care.
- 37:23SPEAKER_04: I want the LSU in the playoff.
- 37:25SPEAKER_04: Whoever wins the SEC, I'm just gonna, it's gonna be Georgia until it's not Georgia.
- 37:28SPEAKER_04: That's where I am with it with the Bulldogs.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: I think they just they just always win.
- 37:32SPEAKER_04: All right, good stuff.
- 37:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, let's talk about uh G6.
- 37:35SPEAKER_04: Uh, as we always know, there'll be one automatic berth for the G6.
- 37:38SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm gonna go first.
- 37:40SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go UNLV.
- 37:41SPEAKER_04: Um, I think what Dan Mullins, former uh Florida, former Mississippi State coach, uh doing is I think he's the best coach at that level right now.
- 37:48SPEAKER_04: Uh I think they're phenomenal.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: Clicking on all cylinders, give me UNLV to earn the G6 spot.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Um UNLV is where I wanted to go, but I think I'm gonna end up going uh JMU.
- 38:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, Billy Napier is going there.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Uh they made it last year.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: Why not do it again?
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, I think Napier's a good coach.
- 38:10SPEAKER_02: He's just Florida was a little bit too much for him, but he was really good.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: Wasn't he the Raging Cajuns before then?
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: Yes, he was.
- 38:16SPEAKER_02: UL after that.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sure.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: So like he's really good in that in that era or that uh that group of six, and I think he'll be the lead coach there.
- 38:23SPEAKER_04: The cover is hardly bare.
- 38:24SPEAKER_04: I mean, George Petaway is an outstanding running back.
- 38:26SPEAKER_04: The defense is gonna be loaded again.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: A little suspect on what Summerall's, I'm sorry, uh Napier is gonna be able to do with that quarterback, but when you're starting when you're playing the Sunbelt Sunbelt and you can run the ball and play defense, usually wins you a lot of games.
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: So I don't hate that at all.
- 38:41SPEAKER_04: Uh Darren, who's your G6 candidate?
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: You know, chalk pick is Boise, but I think I'm gonna go with Navy.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: I think I'm gonna I think I'm gonna say that the uh the selection committee at the you know the rankers at the end of the season are gonna say Navy did a better job in a harder conference, beat some better teams, and if they can go 11 wins, you know, and Boise has 11 wins in this in the stupid pack or whatever, yep, uh Navy gets the nod.
- 39:07SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: Pack eight.
- 39:09SPEAKER_04: For uh for our listeners at home, Boise State is absolutely the chalk pick.
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: They are the Vegas favorite of the G62, make the team.
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: So it's cool that none of us went there.
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: Good for y'all for being bold.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: Good stuff.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: All right, let's talk about the national championship.
- 39:22SPEAKER_04: Give me your winner and your runner-up.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: Give me I mean, two teams, Notre Dame, Oregon.
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: Who's winning?
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame, Oregon.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Who's winning?
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, that is the question.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: Give me Notre Dame.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: Perfect season.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 39:39SPEAKER_02: What you got, Mark?
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Uh, Notre Dame over Georgia.
- 39:42SPEAKER_04: Notre Dame over Georgia.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: Love that for you.
- 39:45SPEAKER_04: Good stuff.
- 39:46SPEAKER_04: I am going Oregon over my beloved beloved Tigers.
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: LSU is not gonna win.
- 39:51SPEAKER_04: LSU.
- 39:51SPEAKER_04: Not gonna win the I'm I'm I'm gonna we're gonna win when it matters.
- 39:54SPEAKER_04: We're not gonna win the SEC.
- 39:56SPEAKER_04: That's just what Georgia does.
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: We're gonna get 9-3, 10-2.
- 39:59SPEAKER_04: We're gonna get in.
- 39:59SPEAKER_04: We're gonna go in an old miss uh type 2025 run all the way to the playoffs.
- 40:04SPEAKER_04: And then we're gonna run into Oregon, which is an NFL light squad.
- 40:06SPEAKER_04: We're gonna lose in a we're gonna lose in a squeaker to the ducks.
- 40:09SPEAKER_04: Ducks get Ducks get it back.
- 40:11SPEAKER_04: Last time Oregon played LSU was 2011.
- 40:13SPEAKER_04: Darren, you and I watched that at Myrtle Beach at a certain bachelor party.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: We almost got almost got kicked out of that place.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: That game went went our way.
- 40:21SPEAKER_04: Uh went for the Tigers, but I think it's gonna go for the Ducks in 2026.
- 40:25SPEAKER_05: Myrtle Beach.
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: Uh all right, let's talk about some hardware.
- 40:28SPEAKER_04: So obviously, we're talking about the Heisman, the the granddaddy of them all, the most important trophy.
- 40:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, we're gonna do two picks.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do one of kind of the chalkish picks.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: We have a list of 10, the 10 top odds.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: I'll just rattle them off real quick.
- 40:39SPEAKER_04: CJ Carr, Arch Manning, Trinidad Chambliss, Dante Moore, Julian Saiyan, Darien Mensah, Josh Hoover, Jeremiah Smith, Gunnar Stockton, Sam Levitt, John Mateira.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: All quarterbacks except for Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State.
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna do one of those kind of chalk picks, and then we're gonna do one long shot.
- 40:54SPEAKER_04: If you're really feeling uh frisky and you want to put some money down, a few shekels, see if you can uh hit the jackpot, do that as well.
- 41:01SPEAKER_04: Anyone want to lead off with their chalk pick?
- 41:05SPEAKER_02: Josh Hoover, Indiana.
- 41:07SPEAKER_04: Josh Hoover, Indiana.
- 41:09SPEAKER_04: Tell me why.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: I mean, he was the greatest, he was the greatest quarterback in Texas last year, and now he's with Kurtz and Getty in there in Indiana.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: Like Fernando Mendoza, when we talked about this last year, and not a single one of us chose Fernando Mendoza, and we chose five Heisman trophy last year.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: So 15 people were chosen, and Mendoza wasn't selected by any of us at this point.
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: I'm sticking with at least the Indiana quarterback, who was the greatest college football quarterback in Texas last year.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: You reminded me of how foolish I felt all year last year for doubting Indiana.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: You know, the year before I had my doubts, and then in the playoff, I was, you know, I was justified or whatever.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: But last year I thought Indiana's gonna get exposed.
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: Indiana's gonna they're gonna blow it.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: They're gonna show that they're not big enough, not strong enough against these big teams.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: Never happened.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: Never lost a game, and they I looked foolish.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: Round about week 10, 11, like end of November, is when I finally said, okay, they're for real.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: Cignetti's the real deal.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Mendoza, he was a cow bear uh just a year ago, but he's the real deal.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: You know, I finally flipped my mind.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: Um, but it took until then, and I don't think I'll ever doubt him again, so I won't doubt you.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: There you have it.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: What are you doing?
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Uh give me uh give me chalk at the top, go CJ Carr.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: I'm riding Notre Dame hard this year.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: He's the absolute odds-on favorite.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Um he looks so good last year, you know, throwing long balls.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: They're just ready to explode.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: I really like their receiver great house as well.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, he just can't he's just one of those guys like um like uh Mikiah Lemon last year, just always seems to be open and come up with the ball against any odds, beaten triple coverage.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: That's just what Notre Dame and CJ Carr are gonna do this year.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: And so I think he's just gonna put up you know historic points.
- 43:06SPEAKER_04: You know, it helps the I mean it helps CJ Carr's Heisman can't cannot see the fact they don't have Jadarian Price and Jeremiah Love.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: He's they they are going to expect him to handle more.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying Notre Dame's not gonna run the ball.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: Notre Dame is gonna run the ball.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: They have the best offensive line in college football this year.
- 43:21SPEAKER_04: Their second string line, their second string offensive line would be top 10, top 20s.
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Very, very, very, very good up front.
- 43:27SPEAKER_04: They're gonna run the ball, but CJ Carr is going to be asked and expected to carry more of a load.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: And obviously, being on that being on national television in the NBC every week is gonna help.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: All the time.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: So absolutely.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: I like that pick.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: I don't hate it at all.
- 43:39SPEAKER_04: And he's and again, he is number, he is the odds-on favorite as of for now for good reason.
- 43:44SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm going Darien Mensa at Miami.
- 43:47SPEAKER_04: I think everyone's sleeping on this guy.
- 43:49SPEAKER_04: I don't think anybody watched him at Tulane two years ago.
- 43:51SPEAKER_04: I don't think anybody really watched him at Duke last year.
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: He is awesome.
- 43:55SPEAKER_04: Uh, I the fact that he's going to Miami, he's going to a fabulous situation.
- 43:58SPEAKER_04: Uh, Mark Fletcher, the running back, um, Malachi Tony, the most electric receiver um in space college football, Cooper Barkate, the transfer from Duke's coming with him, one of his besties, the guy he's already thrown a lot of balls to.
- 44:10SPEAKER_04: They're gonna have a defense for days.
- 44:11SPEAKER_04: They're also the Miami.
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: It's the you.
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: If you talk about prestige, you talk about attention, nothing's hotter in Miami than the you.
- 44:19SPEAKER_04: So I think he's gonna have more attention.
- 44:21SPEAKER_04: I think people are I don't think people realize how good he is uh until he plays for Miami on a big stage.
- 44:28SPEAKER_04: And I think they're gonna go, unfortunately, to South Bend and beat your beloved Irish.
- 44:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, so give me uh give me Darien Mensa as my chalk Heisman pick.
- 44:37SPEAKER_04: Uh all right, let's do some moonshots.
- 44:38SPEAKER_04: So these are That are way down the list in the 30s, 40, 50s.
- 44:42SPEAKER_04: Obviously, the Heisman, everybody in college football is eligible.
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: So we're talking about guys way outside kind of the set Heisman top horses.
- 44:50SPEAKER_04: I'm going to go with uh Byron Brown, who you can get at about 65 to 1.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: This is the quarterback from Auburn University.
- 44:57SPEAKER_04: He came over with Alex Golish from South Florida, brought a lot of South Florida key players with him.
- 45:02SPEAKER_04: Auburn always has a good defense.
- 45:04SPEAKER_04: They always play their hearts out, even though when they're outgunned.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: Alex Golish is a very good offensive player.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: Byron Brown's going to be is going to be asked to carry a lot.
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: If they have the season that I think he's capable of, it's all going to go through Byron Brown.
- 45:18SPEAKER_04: So if you're looking at if Auburn somehow exceeds expectations and they have some superstars on defense, um, especially the linebacker core, like if they figure things out and they go 10 and 2, level 1, they get the playoff, it's going to be because Byron Brown became Superman, you know, Cam Newton light again.
- 45:36SPEAKER_04: So I'll take a moonshot on uh Auburn's quarterback, Byron Brown.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: He looked so good last year.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: We got the pleasure of seeing some South Florida Bulls games on TV last year.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: Um, they made a lot of noise because of him.
- 45:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, he just like Magic Man looked like Lenora Sellers did when we were all excited about him.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, love, love Auburn this year.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: Uh at least for like a go get 'em champ sort of sort of spot.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: Their overunter win total is like six and a half.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: So no one's expecting to do much.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: So like I said, so if they go from six and a half to 10 and 2, 11 and 1, it's because Byron Brown had an out-of-body experience for three and a half months.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: At least it's gonna be super cool.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, at least the iron ball is gonna be nice again.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: One team's able to run the ball, and it's not Alabama.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:22SPEAKER_04: All right, give me a remote.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: Mark, who else you got?
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: I mentioned his name earlier because I love the man.
- 46:28SPEAKER_02: He is six foot five, two thine, wide receiver from South Carolina.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: And right now, if I put down four dollars, I win a thousand at 450.
- 46:37SPEAKER_02: I'm going Nick Harbour, a wide receiver, South Carolina.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: Like, obviously, if he's that good, Lenore Sellers is gonna take the Heisman from him.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: But dude's a stud.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:49unknown: Yeah.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: He is a he is a stud.
- 46:51SPEAKER_04: He's I was obviously the the Combine Freak off the charts, just every in every possible measure.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: It's I could kudos for picking a non-quarterback because this is the year I would bet my life it's gonna be a quarterback.
- 47:02SPEAKER_04: There are so many quarterback, this is this is gonna be a quarterback heavy year with just talent everywhere.
- 47:07SPEAKER_04: So kudos for you for taking a shot on somebody way out there.
- 47:10SPEAKER_04: And I don't I mean, if Nick Harbor blows up, catches what what would have to happen?
- 47:14SPEAKER_04: 1500 yards, 1400 yard type season?
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: You'd have to catch touchdowns plus, like yeah, double F to be.
- 47:20SPEAKER_04: What was Devonta?
- 47:21SPEAKER_04: Can somebody quickly pull up 2020?
- 47:23SPEAKER_04: What was Devonta Smith?
- 47:25SPEAKER_04: The last uh non-quarterbacks when the Heisman was the Alabama receiver during the COVID year when they were playing into the empty stands.
- 47:31SPEAKER_04: What was Devonta Smith Heisman campaign wide receiver numbers?
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: Anyone have a 117 receptions?
- 47:38SPEAKER_02: It's a lot of balls, 1,856 yards, 23 touchdowns.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 47:43SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 47:43SPEAKER_04: I said 1500.
- 47:44SPEAKER_04: I didn't realize he had 1800.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: Holy smoke.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: Okay, so it's good.
- 47:47SPEAKER_04: I was wrong.
- 47:48SPEAKER_02: It's gonna take 1800 yards.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: But you also consider he ran for a touchdown and he had a punt return for a touchdown, too.
- 47:54SPEAKER_04: I think they only played 10 games that year, too.
- 47:58SPEAKER_04: Um the I might be wrong about that part.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think that was the no conference, no conference championship.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: So so Nick Harper, there's your target.
- 48:07SPEAKER_04: Receive for 2,000 yards in 12 games.
- 48:09SPEAKER_04: Good luck.
- 48:10SPEAKER_01: Great moon, great moonshot, Mark, where we're talking about uh wide receivers.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: I gotta say it was it's tough to go chalk with CJ Carr.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: You know, I gotta do it in the picking moment, but like I love Jeremiah Smith on this top 10 list as well.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: For three, this will be the third year that people were putting his name in the sentence with best player in college football.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: He's been he's been talked about like that for three years now.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: So love Jeremiah Smith.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: I agree with what you said, Mike, and um you know, all the quarterback love and Darien Mensa and these guys are gonna are gonna flash.
- 48:43SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah Smith, though, is just gonna, you know, he's gonna leave no doubt, I think, and say uh greatest player in college football, finally, uh for his third year.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: But he's not on my moonshot list.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: I gotta go with another receiver, might just be as good as him, Malachi Tony.
- 48:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: If and I'm you know, put it together, Darien Minsa, your pick, my pick, Malachi Tony.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: It's just they're gonna be unstoppable.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: It's absolute terrible news that they're in the ACC and we got to play them in Miami.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: Um, it's gonna be brutal.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: And uh Malachi is one of those guys as well.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: I love to talk about like doesn't matter how many people are covering him, they could put two safeties on the over top and four underneath.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: He's gonna come up with the ball and he's gonna run for 25 more yards afterwards.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: He's just an absolute magic man.
- 49:32SPEAKER_01: So love to love to watch him play.
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: I know this isn't a uh fantasy football podcast, but in college football fantasy, the top two three picks, generally speaking, in most fantasy football leagues, which are limited to P4, Jeremiah Smith, Malachi Tony, and Kwan Lacey.
- 49:47SPEAKER_04: So if you're looking for three guys that are gonna rack up big stats, the smart people in the room seem to think those three guys have the capability of really jacking it up.
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: So if you want to put a little, if you can't do it in Virginia, if you are listening to this podcast outside of the state of Virginia and you want to put a Heisman bet, uh we there are some tips for you.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: All right, cool, let's keep it rolling.
- 50:05SPEAKER_04: Uh, next next category.
- 50:07SPEAKER_04: Uh, we are looking at teams that are in the top 10 currently that will finish the season unranked.
- 50:13SPEAKER_04: Uh, this has happened multiple times.
- 50:15SPEAKER_04: Last year, everybody got it right.
- 50:17SPEAKER_04: Clemson, LSU, and Penn State, all in the top 10, all fell out.
- 50:22SPEAKER_04: Year before, Florida State.
- 50:23SPEAKER_04: Remember Florida State coming off that monumental year, bottomed out, lost to Georgia Tech overseas in Dublin opening week, and just pretty much went sideways ever since.
- 50:32SPEAKER_04: Brutal.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: Top 10 right now.
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, Indiana, Miami, Texas AM, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma.
- 50:41SPEAKER_04: Of these 10 squads, Darren Stedman, which one of these is going to finish the season unranked?
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: Man, this is so crazy, but I'm going to go with Texas.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, they just might.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, that I honestly feel like their roster is a top 10 roster, but that means they might still lose five games.
- 50:58SPEAKER_04: Their schedule is unbelievable.
- 51:00SPEAKER_04: Outrageous is outrageous.
- 51:02SPEAKER_04: I can't wait to watch it.
- 51:03SPEAKER_04: That's a non-Texas fan, but it is outrageous.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: Losing week two to Ohio State, very real possibility.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: You know, being two and two and questioning Arch Manning, very real possibility.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Uh so I gotta go Texas.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: And if you ask me in 10 minutes, I might tell you that they're gonna play for the national championship.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: They're they're built for both.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: Their schedule is built for you know for getting crushed.
- 51:29SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 51:30SPEAKER_04: Uh Mark, who you got?
- 51:31SPEAKER_02: Uh Ole Miss.
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: I think Lane Kiffin leaving and Pete Golding taking over.
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: This is his first time as a head coach.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: I don't believe in Trinidad.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: Was it Shambliss?
- 51:41SPEAKER_02: Shambliss, correct.
- 51:42SPEAKER_02: I I'm not a big believer in him.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: And there's a there's a some games in there.
- 51:47SPEAKER_02: They're gonna play Texas in the in late October, then they're gonna Auburn, which they'll win.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: But then it's Georgia and Oklahoma to close out the season.
- 51:55SPEAKER_02: I just foresee them uh falling to, I don't know, maybe seven wins, eight wins, but definitely dropping out of the top 25.
- 52:04SPEAKER_04: It's it's in the cards.
- 52:06SPEAKER_04: It's not you know, they they it's they I'm hoping that obviously the Lane Kiffin, and it wasn't just Lane Kiffin, it's also Charlie Weiss, C Oc, Kevin Smith, the running back coach, wide receivers coach, a lot of a couple of Crent Souvenez on, uh J Duttery, the middle linebacker.
- 52:21SPEAKER_04: We just got their tight end, who just would we just transferred from the Cleveland Browns as of like three hours ago.
- 52:27SPEAKER_04: Like it's got an NFL tight end.
- 52:29SPEAKER_04: NFL tight end coming to us.
- 52:30SPEAKER_04: It's a lot of team, it's a lot of talent and coaching and brain power.
- 52:34SPEAKER_04: Um, so I mean, I think I think the the potential is there.
- 52:38SPEAKER_04: I can absolutely see it.
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm gonna go to Lane in it makes perfect sense that uh Lane Kiffin is like the feather to Chambliss's Dumbo.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: You know, Chambliss is gonna look around the locker rooms like where's my where's my coach?
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: Where's Lane?
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: You know, I don't have I don't have Kiffen anymore.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, what do I do?
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: You know, he might just he might freak out like that.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Pete Dolding's not gonna have those answers like Kiffin did.
- 53:03SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 53:03SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm gonna go AM.
- 53:05SPEAKER_04: They were really lucky with the scale with the scheduling breaks last year, had a lot of things go that way.
- 53:09SPEAKER_04: Uh, they lost, they were also had were pretty shoddy against the run last year.
- 53:13SPEAKER_04: Um, they've lost a lot of time, they've they're losing almost their entire offensive line.
- 53:17SPEAKER_04: They've lost to two line uh sud linebackers.
- 53:20SPEAKER_04: I think they're gonna see uh big time regression to the mean.
- 53:23SPEAKER_04: Um, they've got uh pretty tough schedule, as all uh SEC teams do.
- 53:28SPEAKER_04: And I think the I they're playing pretty much all of the big dogs, uh, with the exception of Georgia.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: Uh I think they're gonna be I think they're being for Rude Awakening.
- 53:37SPEAKER_04: I just don't believe in Marcel Reid.
- 53:38SPEAKER_04: And of course, I already talked about they lost Colin Klein, who I think is an absolute savant officer coordinator, now the coach at Kansas State.
- 53:44SPEAKER_04: Um, I think it's gonna be too much.
- 53:46SPEAKER_04: So I've got AM as the team that's gonna finish eight and four, which is probably good enough to kick you out of the uh top 25.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: I have to say, if like none of us picked them when we did the SEC, none of us mentioned them.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the only thing time we've brought up to uh Texas AM is is dropping right now.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: I I do want to look back at this at the end of the year, and if Texas AM is still like in the top five, we're definitely totally off on this show.
- 54:11SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: And it could happen.
- 54:13SPEAKER_04: All these all these teams have earned.
- 54:15SPEAKER_04: Well, listen, it's August.
- 54:16SPEAKER_04: Not there's not a no one's no one has played a second of football yet, but all of these teams have earned.
- 54:21SPEAKER_04: I mean, I know it's obviously preseason rankings, they haven't mean much, but they're they're all there for good reason.
- 54:25SPEAKER_04: I mean, all 10 of these teams are on paper, very good.
- 54:29SPEAKER_04: That's a far cry from doing it on the field and getting W's, but they're all talented, they all have coaching, they all have talent, they all have support.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: Like they you can you could you can make a case for any of them.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: So put together some magic last year to be able to game back by a point.
- 54:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like a 40 game.
- 54:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, on a drop two-point conversion.
- 54:49SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 54:49SPEAKER_04: Remember that crazy play.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: They came back from how many at South Carolina?
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: Like 30 points in a second half?
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: Something outrageous.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, they they had the they had the mojo flowing.
- 55:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
- 55:01SPEAKER_01: And at the same time, Elko's the real deal.
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: He could he knows how to do it.
- 55:05SPEAKER_04: We shall see.
- 55:06SPEAKER_04: All right, now we're gonna do the inverse.
- 55:07SPEAKER_04: Just about every year there's been a team that has been unranked that has finished in the top 10.
- 55:12SPEAKER_04: Didn't actually happen last year.
- 55:13SPEAKER_04: Last year was the first time it hadn't happened in a long time.
- 55:16SPEAKER_04: It was BYU, and they finished 11th.
- 55:18SPEAKER_04: So they were right there on the cusp.
- 55:19SPEAKER_04: The year before that, uh, was uh Arizona State, the Cam Scattaboo, uh uh Sam Levitt, uh, and the big time many receivers like it right now.
- 55:28SPEAKER_04: The Arizona State experience.
- 55:30SPEAKER_04: So yes, thank you.
- 55:31SPEAKER_04: Who is the unranked team that's gonna finish the season top 10?
- 55:36SPEAKER_01: Uh Darren, you got I got a couple names written down.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: I'm not I'm just gonna mention it as as uh you know honorable mention.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech Hokies flirt getting up there and flirt with the ranking system.
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: But like these are guys that these are teams that are not gonna get top 10.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: Navy boy, you know, midshipmen, Boise State, they might kind of creep up in there.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: The only team I got that's built for top 10 action is Clemson.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Clemson, you know, they're playing in one of these um not the Big Ten, not SEC conferences, which is where you can do this sort of thing and just come in and blast everybody off.
- 56:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 56:14SPEAKER_01: And so so Clemson's built for it.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, they could honestly go top 10.
- 56:18SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 56:18SPEAKER_02: Um I was I was in the same boat as you with Clemson.
- 56:21SPEAKER_02: That's the the team I had written down, and I think the biggest thing is the offensive coordinator, Chad Morris.
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: My question is is like sometimes you have a great coordinator who's just not cut out to lead a team and be a head coach, but they should stick.
- 56:35SPEAKER_02: Like uh the Bud Fosters of the World.
- 56:37SPEAKER_02: Um, was trying to think, like, I'm gonna say Charlie Weiss.
- 56:40SPEAKER_02: I thought he was a great offensive coordinator, but not a great head coach.
- 56:43SPEAKER_02: But like Chad Morris is out.
- 56:45SPEAKER_02: He was out last year, which is a little suspect to me.
- 56:48SPEAKER_02: Why he didn't do any coaching, but now he's there as the offensive coordinator.
- 56:52SPEAKER_02: Can they get the can he help write the ship for Dabo?
- 56:56SPEAKER_02: I yeah, I predicted earlier they were going to the playoffs, so that's what I was gonna say too.
- 56:59SPEAKER_02: Clemson all the way.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're yeah, we're all cheating a little bit.
- 57:02SPEAKER_04: We're picking the teams just outside the top 25, and I'm gonna do no better.
- 57:06SPEAKER_04: I'm picking so Clemson is the would would be by votes the 26th ranked team.
- 57:10SPEAKER_04: Well, the Hokies.
- 57:11SPEAKER_04: I think Darren, Darren picked the Hokies, which would be about 37-36.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: So Darren's taking a good shot.
- 57:16SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm gonna go pre-chalk on this well.
- 57:18SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go in Florida.
- 57:19SPEAKER_04: Uh, Florida, love John Summerall, did a great job of two-lane.
- 57:23SPEAKER_04: Um, uh Jaden Ball is one of the best running backs in the country.
- 57:27SPEAKER_04: Uh Vernon Brown, Dallas Wilson, phenomenal wide receivers.
- 57:30SPEAKER_04: The biggest thing that no one's talking about, they got Buster Faulkner, the offensive coordinator for Georgia Tech.
- 57:34SPEAKER_04: Georgia Tech, real good on offense these last year, for Brett Key and Justin Haynes.
- 57:39SPEAKER_04: I think that is probably my favorite offensive hire of the offseason outside of Lane Kiff and Charlie Weiss Jr., obviously.
- 57:46SPEAKER_04: Second favorite offensive hire, I'm gonna go um Buster Faulkner, the offensive coordinator from Georgia Tech to Florida.
- 57:52SPEAKER_04: Florida has explosive capabilities, they have talent, they have guys, they've got speed on defense and offense.
- 57:59SPEAKER_04: Um, and I love what Buster Faulkner was able to do at Georgia Tech.
- 58:02SPEAKER_04: I think he's gonna take Aaron Philo with him, which was uh I believe Justin Haynes is getting back up to Georgia Tech.
- 58:07SPEAKER_04: So he's got his quarterback who already knows him.
- 58:09SPEAKER_04: He's got John Summerall, he's got the head coach, which is a solid riser, he's got Florida speed and defense everywhere.
- 58:14SPEAKER_04: Florida has a chance to be like Clemson, a team that we have watched win national championships in our lifetime.
- 58:21SPEAKER_04: More than one, but they are capable, they are talented, they're one of those teams that should be there, could figure it out.
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna got Florida as my team to be in the top 20, top 10 at the end of 2026.
- 58:32SPEAKER_04: My kind of long shot.
- 58:35SPEAKER_01: They don't play a terribly brutal schedule like they did last year.
- 58:39SPEAKER_01: They don't give Alabama, yeah um, I mean they gotta play, they gotta play Georgia and Texas.
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 58:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they they'll have the uh the eyes on them on TV at least.
- 58:49SPEAKER_04: Florida's schedule last year might have gone, might go down history as with the hardest schedule in college football history.
- 58:53SPEAKER_04: It was insane.
- 58:54SPEAKER_04: Even they're out of conference, Miami, South Florida, like teams that are like pretty darn good.
- 58:59SPEAKER_04: Like they just absolute murderers row.
- 59:02SPEAKER_04: Um, and obviously DJ Lagwag just wasn't it.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: He might be a Baylor, I doubt it, but maybe the second home for him will figure that out.
- 59:08SPEAKER_04: All right, cool.
- 59:09SPEAKER_04: Last category.
- 59:10SPEAKER_04: Obviously, we saved the best for last.
- 59:12SPEAKER_04: It's homer time.
- 59:13SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna talk about just for our homers.
- 59:14SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do the five teams LSU, Tennessee, UVA, Riching at Tech, uh in Iowa, and we're doing the over-under, just win totals, just straight up.
- 59:21SPEAKER_04: Will they get more?
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: Will they get less?
- 59:23SPEAKER_04: Uh let's start with the top.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: We'll start with LSU, eight and a half minus 110.
- 59:27SPEAKER_04: So pretty much a flip flip them according to uh Vegas.
- 59:30SPEAKER_04: I'm obviously taking the over.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: I got LSU going nine and three, ten and two.
- 59:34SPEAKER_04: Not when the SEC, that's Georgia, making the playoff, give me over on eight and a half LSU.
- 59:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I got over too.
- 59:44SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: I'm a believer in Sam Levitt.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: He did it two years ago.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: He's hungry.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 59:52SPEAKER_04: Mark, what do you mean?
- 59:52SPEAKER_04: Mark, you're muted.
- 59:58SPEAKER_01: Talk to him may forget.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_02: Had to kick a little boy out of the room.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_02: Um I think last year, Nuss Meyer's injuries and and Brian Kelly just being the head case.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_02: I still think that the LSU just has the talent.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: And I think you've got the systems in place.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_02: And I've been preaching all day about it.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_02: But yeah, definitely over eight and a half.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_04: The thing about LSU, and I wish I had a more complicated.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_04: Obviously, I I read and listen to some level of LSU football content every day, year-round.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_04: And I wish I had a really, oh, if this happens, if this works, if this is how it's gonna allgether, it's hate to be I hate to be so reductive.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_04: It's gonna come down to the offensive line.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_04: And we're gonna know the Clemson game.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_04: If Lane Kiffin's offense can get a push off the ball, if they can run their hurry up, that it's gonna open up Sam Levitt, it's gonna open up Tradez Green, the all-American tight end.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_04: We have a stable of running backs, we have very deep at receiver on defense.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: If this defense, which was expected to pitch a shutout, the offense was terrible last year.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_04: It's Garrett Nussmeyer's injury, Brian Kelly getting fired, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_04: If they don't have to do that, if they're a defense that can be up 14 points, they can pin their ears back and blitz, they can go for interceptions, they can be a step on your throat kind of defense and not be a hold circ on defense.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_04: It plays into this.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_04: If the offensive line works, LSU could be an 11-1, uh, 12-0 type team.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_04: If it doesn't, we're a seven and five.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_04: I really think it's that simple.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_04: I think it's gonna work.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_04: I think this LSU football team will go the way of the offensive line.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_04: So I can't wait to see what they'll do about Clemson.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_04: Clemson's got the real player, so we're gonna test about that.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: Clemson's got to figure it out.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_04: I think I think you're right too.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_04: Uh let's talk about the vols.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_04: Vols over over seven and a half, way juicy over.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_04: So Vegas is paying one minus 175, so a bit of juice under seven and a half, uh, plus one hundred.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_04: Uh who wants to take the vols?
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go first.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_01: And I gotta go under.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_01: I gotta go under.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_01: It's just one of these, one of these SET SEC teams.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_01: Um like like some other schedules, like some other overs, but I gotta balance it out with the vols going under.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_01: Uh new quarterback, uh brutal schedule.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: And I've been a friend of Mike Benny White, you know, from the podcast for so many years, and it's just been tears.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_01: It's just been it's just been sadness.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_01: You know, the end of the season just doesn't quite go.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_01: They had a big win over Alabama a couple years ago.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that was like a one in, yeah, that was uh that was like a one in 20 shot there because there was so many other disappointments.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_01: The end of the year just seems to fizzle out, so I gotta go under.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_04: Mark, what you got?
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_02: What's the number again?
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_02: Give me that over-under.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_04: Over under seven and a half, minus 175 to the over, plus 100 to the under.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: So Vegas seems to think they're under.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_04: What you got?
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_02: I mean over I bet the under.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_02: Just looking at their games.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_02: I think they're gonna lose to LSU.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_02: I think they're gonna lose at Texas AM.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_02: I think they're gonna lose at South Carolina, they're gonna lose at home against Alabama, and I think they're gonna lose at Texas.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_02: Like they have a couple easy games in there, but those are five losses.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_02: And I think Kentucky's gonna put up a uh a fight against them on November 7th.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_02: I god, I don't almost say, I don't even think they win seven.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_02: I think they only went six.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm gonna take it the over.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_04: I but I'm not, but barely.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_04: Um, I don't like the first first year starting quarterback phase on Brandon.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_04: I think he's good, he's a five-star, he's got potential.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_04: I'm a little worried about that.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_04: The big offseason high for them where we talked about Jim Knowles.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_04: His defense is complicated.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_04: It's not a defense you can step out and play right away.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_04: Um, I've got them going.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_04: I've loved Deshaun Bishop.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_04: He was one of my favorite running backs last year.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_04: I think I expect him to get uh Brandon Staley is amazing on the outside.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_04: David Sanders, one of the best offensive linemen in the league.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_04: Mike Matthew is another great receiver.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_04: They've got the talent, but it's a rough schedule.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_04: I've got Tennessee going eight and four, and like you could you could squint and see nine and three, but I'd rather seven and five is probably more likely.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_04: So I'm over, but just on a hair.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_04: But with that juice, I wouldn't bet it minus 175.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_04: I'm staying away from that.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_04: I'm slightly over on the vols.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_04: Eight, uh, I'll go, I'll go eight and four in the vols.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_04: Uh, Virginia Tech, next one on the list.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_04: They're over under is six and a half.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_04: Also juice way to the over, minus 175.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_04: Under six and a half plus one forty-five.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_04: I'll start first.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_04: I'm taking way over on Virginia Tech.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_04: Six and a half wins, way over.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_04: Six and a half wins is just not enough respect for uh Coach Franklin.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_04: Uh, that guy is a savant at raising the floor.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_04: Everywhere he goes, he raises the floor.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: And I just I can't see a world where the hokies go six and six.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_04: Um, I I really like them to go eight and four, nine and three.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_04: Um, I think this is an easy over.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_04: I am not expecting him.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_04: We all have the same questions for Coach Franklin.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_04: Can he win the big one?
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_04: Can he beat Miami in two years when Virginia Tech is loaded again?
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_04: And much like Penn State lived through.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_04: Those questions are valid, but nobody's talking about him like, can he go six and six?
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_04: I'm out on that.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_04: So I got the I have the floor raisers of all floor raising coach in Franklin clearing the six and a half easy.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_01: And Old Dominion has handed us a couple of losses in the recent years.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: It's been real sad in Blacksburg.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_01: But like, like you said, those days are over.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_01: The floor is much higher.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_01: We play Old Dominion at home.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_01: We have a very, very real chance of VMI, uh, uh Old Dominion, Maryland, Boston College.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_01: That's four and oh.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's not that's not even close to three wins.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_01: That's four four and oh right there.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_01: And then it's Pittsburgh uh at home and Cal on the road.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_01: It's a long flight.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Cal has a little bit of juice.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_01: Uh so five wins so far.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_01: Uh maybe six.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_01: We're already there.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_01: Like we're already we're already like flirting with that over six and a half.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_01: Georgia Tech at home.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then you got a stretch.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_01: Clemson SMU.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_01: But then there's Stanford.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_01: Don't forget about Stanford at home.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: So yeah, we're going to winner, we're going to six through five.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_04: Look, I like DeVita Pritchard.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_04: I think he's the right guy.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_04: I love Andrew Luck as the GM.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_04: They got some big brains over there, and they got plenty of cash.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_04: Stanford will figure it out one day.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_04: They might be the worst team in Power 4 this year, if not for them or maybe Boston College or Iowa State.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_04: But long-term bullish on Stanford, not in 2026.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_01: Um the people in Blacksburg have said, Welcome, Coach Franklin.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_01: We need you to know one thing beat Virginia.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_01: And so last game at home, at home in Blacksburg.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_01: You got UVA coming.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: So I think you know, you're talking about the juice on the over.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: I think it's like bet the seven and a half or the eight and a half over.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, this is a team that could.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: Win eight games, nine games.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: I see it.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_02: I mean, of course I see it, but I think they take the over, but I don't think they take it by much.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_02: Um, I've watched a lot of Virginia Tech football, and most of the time, and if James Franklin can change the fact that they would play just well enough to win, but they wouldn't blow people out, and the offense struggled for the last 15 years, whether it was Fuente or even in the end of the Frank Beamer era.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, great defense, great special team, struggle on offense.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: But even when like Tyrod Taylor was there, they would only win like 20 to 10.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_02: They didn't blow people out.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_02: And it's can James Franklin take them to that next level where they blow out the old Dominions.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_02: They blow, I mean, obviously the blowout VMI, to say better off my fingers.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_02: But like that old Dominion Maryland, Boston College, they should be winning those games by at least three touchdowns.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_02: Um, and we'll see.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_02: But I don't know.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_02: I I just don't have a lot of faith in Virginia Tech to come out and and beat, you know, having them watching them lose to Old Dominion the last couple of years has kind of just taken the wind out of the way.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_02: The scar tissue is still there.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_02: It's not gone away.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_02: So I I really, really hope they go over the seven and a half, but I'm thinking maybe six and a half.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, six and a half.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_02: Well, a little more bullish on that, but yeah, exactly.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: It's just too low.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_05: Six and a half is too low for G Attach.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_04: They have to go over that.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_04: They have to go over.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_04: All right, UVA over under that one's seven and a half, minus 175, juice the over.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_04: So again, pretty much the exact same betting line as uh Tennessee.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_04: Vegas is expecting to go over seven and a half.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_04: Uh under uh plus one thirty five.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_04: Um give me the under.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_04: Tell me why.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_04: Because UVA sucks, period.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_04: Love it.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_04: That's a good take.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_04: Totally respect it.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_04: Uh UVA football.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_04: Uh, I'm gonna go over uh, but again, just barely.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_04: I think eight and four is right there.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_04: They a couple things going for them.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_04: Uh, one of the best offensive lines in the ACC.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_04: I've said a couple times, I'm gonna stand by that.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_04: Uh, they have got some playmakers I really like outside.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_04: I love Fisher Camac.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_04: I think Cam Robinson is one of the best linebackers.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_04: Um, they have to rebuild pretty much everything else on defense, which I don't love.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_04: And they're playing a sneaky good uh uh quarterback in uh NC State when they come to town on week zero.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_04: So they're gonna have to be kind of ready pretty quickly uh to get it going.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_04: But their schedule otherwise is pretty soft.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_04: Um, they no Clemson, no Louisville, no Miami.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_04: Easy schedule.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_04: I really like that.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_04: I've I I think I've kind of re re I think I've I think I'm back in on Tony Elliott after a rough first first three years.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_04: Give me the over, give me the eight and four, just squeaking by eight and four.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_02: 100% agree with everything Mike just said.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, they're not playing anybody good.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_02: You're gonna have Cal at home, they've got Syracuse, they've got Delaware.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_02: Uh, how good's West Virginia gonna be this year?
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_02: And that's a neutral site in Charlotte.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_02: I I see them taking eight.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't want to say it, I don't like UVA.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: Fair, but we'll be there.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_02: We'll be there on this Saturday.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_01: I think they win six.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_01: I think they win six for sure.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_04: You know, this bet is gonna be set week zero because I'm telling you, CJ Bailey when it is a good quarterback and might be the second or third best quarterback in the ACC.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_04: He really is that good.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_04: And if he lights up UVA in Charlottesville, and we're trying we're all going to in six days.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_04: That's amazing news.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_04: Um, you we're gonna we're gonna look really foolish in the over on this one.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_04: So we'll we'll yeah, but I think it's gonna set this guy's really gonna set the tone.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_04: Uh any more UVA takes.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_04: All right, last one.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_04: Let's finish up strong.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_04: Iowa, new to the Homer time uh family.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_04: Welcome, Iowa.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_04: Over uh under seven and a half, a bunch of other teams.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_04: This one, not as much juice, minus 130.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_04: So they're expecting it to go over, but not by much.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_04: Under seven and a half plus one oh six.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_04: I'll go first because I got I just got bad news.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_04: I'm going under.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_04: I I think it's gonna be just slightly, and really not because I don't like Iowa.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_04: I love Phil Parker, I love his defense, I love that tight end.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_04: I think he's an all-American as well.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_04: Um, like I mean, news uh news flash Iowa has another all-American tight end.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_04: Who saw that coming?
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_04: Um, they just turn they just turn these guys out.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_04: The what I don't like about Iowa is the schedule.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_04: I think Wisconsin is sneaky good.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_04: I think Minnesota with uh Drake Lindsay is sneaky good.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_04: They've got guys everywhere as well.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_04: I think their schedule is a little harder than it looks um on paper.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: I think everyone thinks Greece are gonna start 3-0, and it's the stretch after that where things get dicey, and not just those first three.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_04: I think the last half of the schedule has more potential landmines on the people think.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_04: I do like Iowa.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_04: I'm excited to root for Iowa, I'm sorry for the Hawkeyes this year, but I also think Wisconsin and Minnesota are also trending up big time, and that's gonna create real problems for Iowa going for the seven and a half, trying to get to eight and four or better.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_04: So give me the slightly under on the hawkey's.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_01: They're they're at Illinois, they're at Minnesota.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: That's tough.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're right.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_01: There's a bunch of coin flips here.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_01: Wisconsin's plucky, Northwestern's got Chip Kelly for what it's worth.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's tough.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: Um, give me the over though.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_01: Give me eight wins.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_01: Give me eight wins.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, if everything goes well, they win, I mean, really well.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_01: They win nine.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_01: They've got a three-game stretch that's a nightmare.
- 1:11:54SPEAKER_01: Give them the losses.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_01: That's fine.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_01: Maybe they even pull one out.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_01: But like nine wins is the ceiling, but eight is not bad, so give me the over.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: Is nine and three Iowa talk about as a playoff team, or do they need do they need double digit?
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_01: They have beaten, if they win nine games, they have beaten Illinois and Minnesota and Wisconsin.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they lost the three games that we all look at the three hardest games.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_04: Those other nine, that's not enough.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_01: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_01: Like those are your qual quality wins, then no.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_02: I think you're right.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_02: If they beat Michigan, Ohio State, or Washington, yeah, and lose to Wisconsin.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_02: I think there's a chance.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_02: Like if they have a big win in one of those three, I I don't know if it's possible.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_02: Washington's the best chance there.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_02: Um, I definitely I'm gonna take the over because I'm a homer and that's what we're gonna do here.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_02: But I don't believe PJ Fleck, PJ Fleck's gonna make some coaching mistake in that Minnesota game in Minnesota, and Iowa's gonna win.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_02: I don't believe in Wisconsin, even though Camp Randall's super fun, but this game's gonna be in Iowa.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_02: Northwestern, go back to studying Purdue, the engineers, the boilermakers are just not there.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_02: The at Illinois game.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_02: We'll see what Illinois's up to this year.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_02: I've got the hat on, but I'll throw this out the window for an Iowa over.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_04: That really is the four-game stretch.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_04: I mean, we could talk about we I think we've kind of boiled down the at Minnesota versus Wisconsin, at Illinois versus Nebraska.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_04: Those are the those four games are will define Iowa's season one way or the other.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_04: I think they're either gonna go three and one, one and three.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_04: That'll stretch my kind of where I'm at.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_04: All right, folks, that is it.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_04: Anybody, any other any other fearless predictions?
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_04: I got some spicy ones for week zero, but I'll hold those for the next podcast.

- 1:13:57SPEAKER_04: And then we'll also do week zero previews and picks, uh small light slates.
