- 1:20and kick off this show.
- 1:23Are you ready, guys?
- 1:24I know I am.
- 1:25So hello, everyone, and welcome once again back
- 1:27to Inspirations for Your Life, the daily motivational
- 1:30show where growth is intentional, change is courageous,
- 1:34and alignment matters more than comfort.
- 1:37I'm your host, guys.
- 1:38I'm John C.
- 1:39Morley, serial entrepreneur.
- 1:40I'm an engineer.
- 1:41I'm a marketing specialist, video producer, podcast host,
- 1:44coach, keynote speaker, graduate student, and yes, guys,
- 1:47a passionate lifelong learner.
- 1:50Today, we're talking about something deeply human and
- 1:54often deeply uncomfortable for many, leaving the boat,
- 1:57walking away from what's familiar, that's jobs, roles,
- 2:01relationships, expectations, without setting fire to everything behind
- 2:05you because sometimes people get vindictive and they
- 2:08feel that because it's not working for them,
- 2:10well, then they want to ruin it for
- 2:11everybody else.
- 2:12And that's a very, very poor and bad
- 2:14attitude thing to do.
- 2:15And successful people don't do that.
- 2:17Successful people are happy when other people are
- 2:19successful.
- 2:20Leaving the boat isn't about rebellion, guys.
- 2:23It's about evolution.
- 2:25And I think people that don't understand that
- 2:27not only bring others down, but they also
- 2:29bring themselves down and they, well, make it
- 2:31harder for them to come back and claim
- 2:33a chance for success.
- 2:35Number one, guys, the anxiety of disappointing people
- 2:39who benefit from your smallness is real, but
- 2:43it's not your responsibility to stay small so
- 2:46others can stay comfortable.
- 2:48That's the truth, guys.
- 2:50Number two, you can leave a group, a
- 2:53job or relationship with clarity instead of conflict
- 2:56when you choose honesty over drama.
- 2:58So a lot of times people leave a
- 3:00group or they leave a relationship because of
- 3:02some drama or because of something that happened,
- 3:05and they're completely right to do so.
- 3:07Maybe it's just not working out and they've
- 3:09tried and they can't get it to gel
- 3:12or to be fixed.
- 3:13So they leave.
- 3:14But it's also not the time to destroy
- 3:16it or to break a bridge, right?
- 3:18Because maybe you need to cross that bridge
- 3:20again.
- 3:20It just might not be the right time,
- 3:22but that doesn't mean that you need to
- 3:23break or burn down the whole building.
- 3:25I mean, that's the facetious way of saying
- 3:27that.
- 3:28But number three, abandoning responsibility is running away.
- 3:32I don't know if you know that.
- 3:33Evolving is choosing growth with intention.
- 3:36Number four, guys, if I grow, will the
- 3:39outgrow you?
- 3:41Is the quiet fear that keeps many people
- 3:44stuck long past their expiration date?
- 3:47Let's ponder that for a moment.
- 3:48I know that sounds interesting, but because you're
- 3:52moving on does not mean that you are
- 3:55ready to do everything you need to do.
- 3:57I'm just being completely honest with you on
- 4:00that.
- 4:02Number five, guys, having the I'm changing conversation
- 4:07with people you love requires courage, compassion, and
- 4:12boundaries.
- 4:13So we have to be aware of those.
- 4:16Number six, guys, sometimes the boat is already
- 4:18sinking and you're just rearranging chairs to avoid
- 4:21admitting it.
- 4:22And so if a boat's sinking, does it
- 4:25mean you get off?
- 4:25Well, it means that you need to restructure
- 4:27what you're doing, because if you keep going
- 4:30the way you're going, well, you're probably not
- 4:33going to be above water very long.
- 4:36So that's important.
- 4:37Number seven, guys, red flags don't appear suddenly.
- 4:41You've usually known it's time to move on
- 4:44long before you admit it, and that's a
- 4:46hard thing for many people.
- 4:48It affects the ego, and that's a problem.
- 4:50Number eight, guys, staying for stability often costs
- 4:54more emotionally than leaving ever will.
- 4:57And that's another thing that a lot of
- 4:59people don't get is how do we react
- 5:01in these weird kinds of situations, right?
- 5:06That's a very, very important thing to understand
- 5:10what's happening, why things are happening.
- 5:14I think that's a very, very important thing
- 5:18definitely to understand.
- 5:22So number nine, choosing yourself doesn't make you
- 5:26selfish.
- 5:27It makes you honest.
- 5:29Number 10, there's a real grief in leveling
- 5:32up even when the change is right.
- 5:35Number 11, it's an honor where you came
- 5:37from without staying where you belong.
- 5:41Number 12, guys, a role doesn't mean you
- 5:45failed.
- 5:46It means maybe you've finished that role.
- 5:48Maybe it's time to do something different.
- 5:51Maybe it's time to think about what's happening,
- 5:55right?
- 5:56Think about the next part of your life.
- 5:58I think that's a very important thing to
- 6:01understand, and I hope that you can respect
- 6:05and really know what's happening there.
- 6:08I think that's a very big thing that
- 6:12a lot of people just don't understand.
- 6:14And so when I say this, it can
- 6:20be challenging.
- 6:21And I have to say, I've got to
- 6:22complain again every once in a while.
- 6:24So we've had a lot of issues with
- 6:26them being disconnected, reconnected.
- 6:28I've been getting lots of pops here.
- 6:30I don't want to lose you guys on
- 6:31this show.
- 6:32But their service just sucks, just a bit.
- 6:37Connections get lost.
- 6:49So we're back there.
- 6:50We lost you for a second or two.
- 6:51Like I said, Optimum and Altice, they just
- 6:53suck.
- 6:55But that's just kind of how they are.
- 6:57And the thing is, they just can't be
- 7:00reliable.
- 7:01And we always try to do the best
- 7:03we can.
- 7:05And one of the things we're going to
- 7:06be doing in our new studio is we're
- 7:07going to be building pure fiber and building
- 7:09more redundancy.
- 7:10Because you can't just run professional streaming with
- 7:13just even great cable.
- 7:17It's terrible that they don't really care about,
- 7:20you know, me and about my business and
- 7:22about keeping things out there.
- 7:24I mean, we were dropped there for literally
- 7:26a couple seconds.
- 7:26And then obviously we came back.
- 7:28So we didn't lose the connection.
- 7:29But I think, you know, a lot of
- 7:32these companies are not accountable.
- 7:34And if they were accountable, then, well, they'd
- 7:37be a lot better.
- 7:38The first thing I have to say is
- 7:40we should not allow other countries, France or
- 7:44wherever, to buy our utilities.
- 7:45And we shouldn't be able to buy theirs.
- 7:47And I think that's just nonsense the way
- 7:50other countries can do that.
- 7:53It's a big problem.
- 7:55And like I said, that little bit of
- 7:57an intermittent blip we had that maybe you
- 7:59didn't notice it if you were listing on
- 8:01audio, you might have not listed.
- 8:02There might have been a little bit of
- 8:03a down for a few seconds.
- 8:04But the thing is, you can complain, but
- 8:08they really don't do squat.
- 8:11They'll say, you know, we're updating.
- 8:13We're doing some kind of BS, basically.
- 8:16So, you know, these are important things to
- 8:19understand.
- 8:20And I think the more that we, let's
- 8:23say, understand this and know what's happening, I
- 8:28think it affects us as people.
- 8:32I think that's a very, very important thing
- 8:35to say.
- 8:37And maybe you're thinking about this for a
- 8:39moment saying, John, you know, this is kind
- 8:40of crazy, right?
- 8:41Well, I think it's because, again, of that
- 8:44accountability thing, right?
- 8:45It's that whole accountability thing.
- 8:47And, you know, that's a really, really big
- 8:50problem.
- 8:52Number 13, your old life and new life
- 8:55may look different.
- 8:56And that contrast is part of the growth.
- 8:58So I think we need to embrace that,
- 9:01all right?
- 9:03Another important one, guys, that I think a
- 9:05lot of people miss is not everyone you
- 9:07love will understand your next step, and they
- 9:09don't have to, okay?
- 9:12Maybe you have friends, and maybe they don't
- 9:14agree with what you're doing.
- 9:15Well, maybe it might be time to get
- 9:16new friends, but not always.
- 9:18But I think the problem is that you're
- 9:21so invested in that when they give you
- 9:23feedback, even if it's good feedback, it kind
- 9:27of, well, like tips you off in a
- 9:30bad way.
- 9:31Maybe they're trying to help you.
- 9:33So you can kind of figure out, are
- 9:34they really doing what's best for you or
- 9:36not?
- 9:36And so, like I said, not everyone you
- 9:38love will understand your next step, and they
- 9:40don't have to.
- 9:41You need to know where you're going.
- 9:43Number 15, guys, you owe people honesty, not
- 9:48endless explanations.
- 9:50So be truthful about why you're doing something.
- 9:52You don't need to give them the whole
- 9:53kitchen sink.
- 9:54I mean, that's a real important one, okay?
- 9:59And again, honesty, right?
- 10:02Number 16, dramatic exits are allowed.
- 10:06Intentional transitions, well, they're powerful.
- 10:09And when we choose to do them in
- 10:11a certain way, it can be life-changing
- 10:15for us and for other people.
- 10:17Number 17, guys, leaving quietly can be one
- 10:21of the strongest moves you ever make.
- 10:23I know so many people that get upset
- 10:25that they got to leave, and they've got
- 10:26to, like, put on this temper tantrum.
- 10:30They've got to cry, act like they're two
- 10:32or three years old so they can get
- 10:34attention.
- 10:34But really, that's just showing their shoe size
- 10:38and not their true age.
- 10:40I think that's a big, big problem for
- 10:44a lot of people.
- 10:46And so I know, if you're listening to
- 10:50me here, that you might say, well, John,
- 10:52you don't understand what happened in this situation.
- 10:53You don't understand what they did to me.
- 10:55Well, two wrongs, guys, does not make a
- 10:58right.
- 10:59I'm sorry to tell you that.
- 11:01We heard what happened in the X-Capers
- 11:04and what happened with the Grock cases and
- 11:06how there were other issues on the internet
- 11:09where there was some harassment and then they
- 11:13used these AI tools to put, let's say,
- 11:18adult-created images of the people without their
- 11:23consent.
- 11:24And then when the girl went back to
- 11:27do it, it was very interesting that she
- 11:31was able to get off and not be
- 11:35punished because she was the original victim.
- 11:37I don't think that's right.
- 11:39I think that's sending a wrong message.
- 11:40I get that she was scarred and that
- 11:42she had really some emotional challenges, but that
- 11:44doesn't mean that you are able to do
- 11:48whatever the heck you want to do just
- 11:50because, well, no reason.
- 11:54I'll give you a per example.
- 11:55I was in a Facebook group, still am.
- 11:58I was in many groups, some that I
- 11:59run, I'm the admins of.
- 12:01And so there's rules.
- 12:03There's one group that you can only post
- 12:05business stuff on certain days, like one day
- 12:06a week, and they tell you which one.
- 12:09And it was interesting because when this one
- 12:10guy posts, happened to be a doctor, and
- 12:14I made a joke, because he's like, and
- 12:16I said, why is it that people who
- 12:19have 30 or 40 cars post every week
- 12:23and they're in trouble?
- 12:29They can only post once.
- 12:30And that doesn't seem very fair.
- 12:33They didn't answer my question.
- 12:35Number 17, the main question for me, and
- 12:40I say this again because when you leave
- 12:43quietly, you don't create this drama.
- 12:47You don't create this negativity in the air.
- 12:52I say, John, what is one thing that
- 12:54you want to do?
- 12:55Keep your positive reputation.
- 13:00I was working with a client, and then
- 13:02they decided that they want to leave because,
- 13:05oh, they thought we were too expensive.
- 13:08They thought that, you know, they just didn't
- 13:12want our help anymore because, well, frankly, they
- 13:16didn't think it was working.
- 13:17But then when a whole year went by,
- 13:19and they couldn't get any better, they called
- 13:22us back.
- 13:25Being humble, went back and did all that.
- 13:27But I think it's important to set your
- 13:29boundaries.
- 13:30Let people know, like, what you expect.
- 13:34Like, payment is rendered before services are delivered,
- 13:37if it's like a block of services like
- 13:38we do.
- 13:39Or, you know, when they say, can you
- 13:42come right over?
- 13:43My answer is, yes, I can come right
- 13:46over as soon as I finish this and
- 13:47this, and that'll be later today or that'll
- 13:48be tomorrow.
- 13:49And you have to get that respect from
- 13:51people.
- 13:52If you don't, you don't want them as
- 13:53a client.
- 13:54Number 18.
- 13:56Family expectations can feel heavy when they want
- 13:59you to inherit their dreams instead of chasing
- 14:02your own.
- 14:05I know many years ago, my parents had
- 14:08a dry-clean plant.
- 14:09And they wanted me to inherit the dry
- 14:11-clean plant.
- 14:11On one side.
- 14:12Still have a tech company in that.
- 14:14Wasn't really a full keynote speaker back then.
- 14:17And I knew that I did not want
- 14:19to be behind the counter and doing retail.
- 14:21I didn't want to do that.
- 14:22I wanted to do something and be more.
- 14:25Did I know that I wanted to go
- 14:26get other degrees?
- 14:27No, I didn't know that back then.
- 14:29But that became evident in the last year
- 14:31or so, that I definitely, you know, wanted
- 14:33to do that.
- 14:34So I think that's an important thing.
- 14:37Number 19, guys.
- 14:39Oftentimes, the resistance isn't about you leaving.
- 14:43It's about who they'll be if you do.
- 14:47And when you leave, you have to realize
- 14:50that you never make somebody feel bad that
- 14:56you left.
- 14:58If they want to come back, that's great.
- 15:00But be polite, be courteous.
- 15:04Eat and serve humble pie.
- 15:06I think that's so valuable today.
- 15:11And a lesson that many people, well, they
- 15:13don't seem to get it.
- 15:14They don't seem to get that.
- 15:16Number 20, guys.
- 15:18Build support for your next season before you
- 15:22fully exit the old one.
- 15:25So before you start your next thing, build
- 15:28the support for it into your life.
- 15:31So that it can be supported.
- 15:33So it can run.
- 15:38A very valuable lesson I learned not too
- 15:39long ago was that your imagination becomes your
- 15:43reality.
- 15:43We've talked about this.
- 15:45But what you have to do, and a
- 15:47lot of people don't do this, is you
- 15:50have to think about things, but you also
- 15:51have to keep thinking from the end.
- 15:53And you have to keep feeling.
- 15:54You have to keep pushing back these images.
- 15:57And when you do, the outside world aligns
- 16:01to your inner world.
- 16:02That doesn't happen overnight.
- 16:05But you gotta have that energy.
- 16:07You gotta feel it from the inside out.
- 16:11Number 21, you know FOMO, right?
- 16:13What's FOMO?
- 16:14Fear of missing out.
- 16:15It's temporary.
- 16:17Regret lasts longer.
- 16:19So if I miss a game, if I
- 16:20miss an event, okay, I missed it.
- 16:24But regret about something else I needed to
- 16:26do, well, that could last my entire life.
- 16:29And I might not be able to repair
- 16:31what I did because of some FOMO thing
- 16:34that I had to do because I thought
- 16:36that took a higher priority than what I
- 16:40should be putting my time into.
- 16:42Number 22, guys.
- 16:45Protecting your future is not selfish.
- 16:48It's responsible.
- 16:51It's responsible.
- 16:52Now, that could mean how you act, if
- 16:56you understand how valuable you are to yourself.
- 17:04And when you do something you can't afford
- 17:06when others fall.
- 17:08Right?
- 17:10And a lot of people that push into
- 17:12the rubble, the reason they do this is
- 17:17they think that no one else is there.
- 17:19Well, that's a bad thing.
- 17:27I mean, they have to be accountable because
- 17:31if we're not accountable then we aren't.
- 17:41And we're going to lose the belief in
- 17:45ourselves.
- 17:47And that's pretty hard to do.
- 17:49But when you lose belief in yourself how
- 17:52can somebody else believe or trust you?
- 17:54I mean, that's the really bottom line there.
- 17:56Number 23, guys.
- 17:58Take lessons, relationships, and discipline with you.
- 18:02Don't compartmentalize.
- 18:03Okay, because of this relationship learn from it.
- 18:08And don't put barricades between your life.
- 18:10Learn from those lessons.
- 18:11Oh, because of that happened.
- 18:13I had another situation today.
- 18:15I was explaining something to someone.
- 18:16It was actually yesterday.
- 18:18And they weren't able to talk to me
- 18:20for more than maybe a minute.
- 18:22No problem.
- 18:23Didn't hold against them.
- 18:23I said, okay, I'm going to send a
- 18:25letter.
- 18:25A very detailed letter.
- 18:26But not complicated.
- 18:28But just something to illustrate the points.
- 18:30Later on, the person called me back the
- 18:32next day.
- 18:33And we just rehashed what was in the
- 18:35letter.
- 18:35And like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that makes
- 18:37sense.
- 18:38Okay, I get it.
- 18:39Yeah, that makes sense.
- 18:39And I'm actually doing this to save you
- 18:40money.
- 18:41Oh, that makes a lot of sense.
- 18:43And so sometimes you have to put something
- 18:44in writing.
- 18:45Sometimes you have to follow up.
- 18:46But sometimes you have to let them come
- 18:48back to you after they've read your written
- 18:50note.
- 18:51So it's good to do things multiple different
- 18:52ways.
- 18:53Number 24, guys.
- 18:56Leave guilt, performance, and resentment behind.
- 19:03I know so many people that try to
- 19:05push guilt on you.
- 19:06You know why?
- 19:07Because if they push guilt, then they will
- 19:11be able to go forward they feel.
- 19:15Because now, well, I'm better than you.
- 19:20Regardless of what degree I have or what
- 19:22degrees I get.
- 19:23Does that make me better than somebody?
- 19:25Does it make me better?
- 19:27Does it make me more knowledgeable?
- 19:28Yes.
- 19:28But does that make me a better person?
- 19:30No.
- 19:32Better is a relative term.
- 19:35Why do I like to keep getting educated?
- 19:38I like to be the best.
- 19:39I like to keep growing.
- 19:40And I just like to keep challenging myself
- 19:43and then sharing that knowledge in a humble
- 19:45way.
- 19:46And also increasing my value and my net
- 19:49worth.
- 19:50But again, not in a selfish way.
- 19:52In a way that's going to help other
- 19:53people.
- 19:56Number 25.
- 19:57Are you ready for 25?
- 19:58I bet you are.
- 19:59Change doesn't happen overnight.
- 20:02If you think it does, well, rude awakening,
- 20:05spoiler alert, it doesn't.
- 20:08It happens when you stop pretending.
- 20:12Huh.
- 20:14Well, John, I wasn't pretending.
- 20:16Well, maybe you're not intentionally pretending, but I
- 20:19got news for you.
- 20:19You're pretending.
- 20:22And when you can't pretend in a certain
- 20:24way, then your ego starts to kick like,
- 20:26oh my gosh, what am I going to
- 20:27do now?
- 20:28You get my point?
- 20:30So pretending happens because we're trying to protect
- 20:33that big ego in our head.
- 20:36And when you try to talk to somebody
- 20:37about it, they challenge you.
- 20:41Until maybe you leave the ballpark.
- 20:45And then they invite you back.
- 20:48But now they realize that they need you.
- 20:52Don't act like a jerk.
- 20:54Be humble.
- 20:55And you're going to see that the relationship
- 20:57will change.
- 21:00It will change.
- 21:01Number 26, guys.
- 21:03Your first step away feels louder in your
- 21:06head than it ever is to others.
- 21:11A while back when somebody wanted to leave,
- 21:14I didn't challenge it.
- 21:15I said, okay, no problem.
- 21:16I said, we'll take care of everything.
- 21:19Give us 24 hours and we'll stop all
- 21:21your services.
- 21:24And I don't think the person realized what
- 21:27they were losing.
- 21:31So much to the accord that when they
- 21:33tried to do certain things, they couldn't.
- 21:36One client couldn't even use their computer for
- 21:38an entire year.
- 21:42But I respected the time.
- 21:44I respected that break.
- 21:47I respected that, let's say, time apart.
- 21:51So they could realize myself and my company's
- 21:55true value.
- 21:57That's important.
- 21:58A lot of people try to push value.
- 22:00And when you try to push value, it
- 22:01causes a big problem.
- 22:04That's important to know.
- 22:06Number 27, a leaving plan grounded in respect
- 22:09protects both sides.
- 22:11So when you leave and you protect each
- 22:14other, if the door ever comes back, and
- 22:19I was always humble to the person, I
- 22:20was always cordial to the person, even though
- 22:22they weren't doing business with us for about
- 22:23a year, I was still nice to the
- 22:26person.
- 22:28You might say, John, why am I going
- 22:29to do that?
- 22:30I wasn't trying to get them back.
- 22:31I was just being nice because I want
- 22:34to be nice.
- 22:34It wasn't for any reason.
- 22:36In my book, I said, well, gee, they're
- 22:37never coming back.
- 22:38And I said, that's okay.
- 22:40Never realizing that that person would come back
- 22:43just because I was being nice.
- 22:45But I wasn't being nice to get them
- 22:47back.
- 22:47I was just being nice because that's who
- 22:49I am.
- 22:51And I guess that rubbed off in a
- 22:53way to say, hey, you know, the person
- 22:55maybe can't be that bad if this person's
- 22:57always cordial and this person's always friendly to
- 22:58me, even though I might have not been
- 23:00the most cordial to them.
- 23:03You're not going to get an apology from
- 23:04these kind of people.
- 23:05What you are going to get is the
- 23:07fact that they hire you back.
- 23:09I think that's a very hard one for
- 23:14a lot of people to digest.
- 23:17You know, one day, number 28, your new
- 23:22life will feel like home.
- 23:24And you'll breathe a lot differently than you're
- 23:26probably breathing now.
- 23:27Number 29, seeing your old life from the
- 23:30outside brings clarity you couldn't access from within
- 23:33no matter how hard you try.
- 23:38No matter how hard you try.
- 23:43Number 30, leaving, guys, isn't betrayal.
- 23:48When staying would mean betraying yourself.
- 23:51What do I mean?
- 23:52If you're staying and you are compromising your
- 23:55core values, that would be betrayal to yourself
- 23:59and that would be worse.
- 24:01If you're standing at the edge of something
- 24:03familiar, but it's misaligned, this is your reminder,
- 24:08guys.
- 24:08You're allowed to evolve without burning everything down.
- 24:12And I say that facetiously.
- 24:13Don't burn anything down.
- 24:14Meaning, if something doesn't work in the kitchen,
- 24:18don't throw out the whole kitchen sink.
- 24:21Just fix the part that's bad.
- 24:23Maybe it's a washer, not a plumber.
- 24:24Or maybe it's just a faucet.
- 24:26Or something simple like that.
- 24:31Just because one thing is wrong doesn't mean
- 24:35we throw out everything that it's attached or
- 24:38connected to.
- 24:39But some people do because they think that's
- 24:41the best way to behave is to purge
- 24:44their life by disassociating everything and anything.
- 24:49So when somebody decides to leave your business,
- 24:51don't make it hard.
- 24:53Make it easy.
- 24:53As long as they don't have any bills
- 24:55due for you, just make it nice and
- 24:56easy.
- 24:58And by doing that, there's going to be
- 25:04no issue and then if they decide to
- 25:05come back later on, great.
- 25:09When I was with this client today, I
- 25:11said to myself, I still owe them time.
- 25:15So I'm not going to beat them on
- 25:16it.
- 25:16I'm going to come back and say, hey,
- 25:18you had time with me.
- 25:19I just wanted to let you know there's
- 25:20no charge for today because you basically had
- 25:24time with me, so there's no charge.
- 25:26But if you want me to come back,
- 25:28there would be a charge for that.
- 25:30And that we need to get paid for.
- 25:31And we work in blocks.
- 25:35Thinking about how you're aligned with somebody or
- 25:38how you're misaligned.
- 25:40That can not only wake up the person,
- 25:43but can also wake up you.
- 25:46And you might say, John, why should I
- 25:47bother being nice to somebody if they weren't
- 25:49nice to me?
- 25:51True wrongs do not make a right.
- 25:54I was always taught to be nice to
- 25:55my elders, but be nice to everyone.
- 25:58If somebody is nasty to you, you can
- 26:01still be nice to them.
- 26:02You don't have to fall over.
- 26:04You can still be cordial and curious.
- 26:06Okay?
- 26:07But you don't go out of your way
- 26:09for that person.
- 26:10Okay?
- 26:11You don't go bringing them cookies and cake.
- 26:14They're not a client anymore.
- 26:16They're not a friend anymore, whatever it is.
- 26:17And you also have to realize that when
- 26:19somebody gives you something, whether it's a snack,
- 26:22whether it's breakfast, make sure that what they're
- 26:24giving you is not, well, tied to a
- 26:30I'm doing you a favor kind of thing.
- 26:33And because of that, they feel like they
- 26:37have control over you.
- 26:38Keep the playing fields equal.
- 26:42Deliver and grant them what they're supposed to
- 26:49be getting.
- 26:50If you're not giving them something, well then,
- 26:52request if you feel something's unfair.
- 26:56But sometimes people aren't fair because of the
- 27:00mode they're in.
- 27:01And I never realized this, but I've learned
- 27:05so much in the last couple of years
- 27:06that when people leave, they don't always leave
- 27:10because of you.
- 27:11They leave because of them.
- 27:14I know that sounds weird, but when they
- 27:16leave because of them and you're not the
- 27:20problem, there's a good shot they might come
- 27:24back.
- 27:24I would have never believed that several years
- 27:26ago.
- 27:27Ladies and gentlemen, this has been Inspirations for
- 27:29Your Life.
- 27:29I am John Seymour, a serial entrepreneur, and
- 27:31sometimes the bravest move isn't staying loyal to
- 27:34the boat, but trusting the shore you haven't
- 27:37reached yet.
- 27:38I know that's a very hard thing for
- 27:40a lot of people to realize, and I'm
- 27:42not saying to abandon your boat, but I'm
- 27:44saying when there's no way to save the
- 27:48boat, then it's time to get out.
- 27:50Don't do that right away, but be ready
- 27:55to jump ship if you try everything else.
- 27:58Have yourself a great rest of your evening
- 28:00or day.
- 28:01I'll catch you real soon, alright?
