- 0:05Speaker 1: Thank you for listening to the Weeknight Mysteries podcast. My
- 0:09Speaker 1: name is Juras and I am here with my co-host Rain.
- 0:14Speaker 1: As always, how are you doing today, Rain?
- 0:16Speaker 2: I'm pretty good. I hope everyone feels the same way.
- 0:18Speaker 2: How are you today?
- 0:19Speaker 1: I'm pretty good as well. Today we are going to
- 0:23Speaker 1: be talking about a case that has been suggested by
- 0:28Speaker 1: one of our listeners. That would be a who commented
- 0:34Speaker 1: the case suggestion on our YouTube channel at Annette Cervantes.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I believe we have already covered several of this listener's suggestions.
- 0:50Speaker 1: So thank you very much, Annette, for suggesting another interesting case.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I had known about this case for some time. Because
- 1:01Speaker 1: it has been in the backlog for a while. So
- 1:04Speaker 1: we're going to be going over Patrick Karn's disappearance case.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Before we get going, I would like everyone to either
- 1:15Speaker 1: subscribe to our YouTube channel if you enjoy the content here.
- 1:17Speaker 1: You don't want to miss it. And please also follow
- 1:22Speaker 1: the podcast on all of the podcast apps that you
- 1:26Speaker 1: listen to podcasts on.
- 1:29Speaker 2: And also....
- 1:32Speaker 1: Follow it, review it, whatever you want to do. That
- 1:35Speaker 1: really helps the podcast moving forward. So we appreciate all
- 1:38Speaker 1: of the people that are engaging. And also, please leave
- 1:42Speaker 1: a comment somewhere. What do you think about the topics?
- 1:45Speaker 1: And what do you think we could do to make
- 1:48Speaker 1: the podcast better?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Man, you're an expert on this now. With the introduction now,
- 1:54Speaker 2: it's getting longer, but it sounds super professional now.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Well, I don't think it sounds like very professional or
- 2:01Speaker 1: anything like that. I just think this is generally what
- 2:04Speaker 1: we would like to ask our listeners.
- 2:06Speaker 2: That's true. But remember the first time you did it,
- 2:08Speaker 2: you kind of like, yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I would fumble it back in the day. But
- 2:16Speaker 1: today we have another topic. So essentially, we have Patrick Carnes,
- 2:22Speaker 1: who was a senior man, 86, at the time of his...
- 2:28Speaker 1: bizarre disappearance, I would say it's bizarre potentially because Well
- 2:36Speaker 1: this case at first glance looks like it's not very
- 2:40Speaker 1: deep at least that was my opinion about it, but
- 2:44Speaker 1: then once I started looking at The case during my research.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I found out that there is act. This is like
- 2:50Speaker 1: a really big case There's like a lot of things here.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We have CCTV footage We have, let's say, scene pictures,
- 3:02Speaker 1: case scene pictures. I don't want to say crime scene
- 3:05Speaker 1: pictures because we don't really know if this was a
- 3:07Speaker 1: crime scene. But we do have pictures. We have pictures.
- 3:11Speaker 1: We have map details. We have a related case, potentially.
- 3:18Speaker 1: We have interesting sources. I guess we have a lot
- 3:25Speaker 1: to review here today. And I think it's a very
- 3:29Speaker 1: good time to jump in on it. So I think
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'm just going to go through the information that we
- 3:37Speaker 1: have on Patrick Carnes, the elder man that disappeared in
- 3:43Speaker 1: Nevada back in 2011. So in April of 2011, 86-year-old
- 3:51Speaker 1: Patrick Carnes, alongside his dog Lucky, they were driving from
- 3:56Speaker 1: Nevada to Ohio. Patrick Carnes at this point was living
- 4:01Speaker 1: alone with his dog in Reno, Nevada. He was driving
- 4:06Speaker 1: to Ohio to visit his family. And he was looking
- 4:12Speaker 1: around in Ohio for potential retirement homes in order to
- 4:17Speaker 1: be closer to his family in Ohio. Because originally he
- 4:22Speaker 1: is from Ohio. I believe a large portion of his
- 4:24Speaker 1: family resided in Ohio as well at this time. despite
- 4:30Speaker 1: his old age, he was known to be mentally sharp
- 4:34Speaker 1: and in good health. We even have a dash cam,
- 4:43Speaker 1: a police dash cam footage of Patrick Harnes discussing certain
- 4:55Speaker 1: details with a police officer on the same day that
- 4:58Speaker 1: he went missing and uh he does seem like he
- 5:01Speaker 1: is um i listened to it uh he does seem
- 5:04Speaker 1: to be coherent and he looks he looked.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Good for 86 yeah and he seemed like he's in
- 5:12Speaker 2: great shape for 86.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I agree with that right absolutely and here is once
- 5:18Speaker 3: again remember i thought that at a certain age when
- 5:21Speaker 3: you get old They're going to take away your license.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You're not going to be allowed to drive. Turns out
- 5:26Speaker 2: I was completely wrong. But this is one of those
- 5:28Speaker 2: times where I'm like 86 and driving. That's impressive, though.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That is, I think, actually impressive because I am aware
- 5:37Speaker 1: of people around this age that are definitely not able
- 5:43Speaker 1: to drive. So I don't think that everyone at 86
- 5:49Speaker 1: is able to drive, in my opinion.
- 5:51Speaker 2: And long distances.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And absolutely long distances. To paint a better picture for
- 5:58Speaker 1: our listeners here who might not be aware, the distance
- 6:03Speaker 1: from Reno to Ohio is almost the entire span, horizontal span,
- 6:17Speaker 1: of the United States. It is Takes around 33 hours
- 6:24Speaker 1: to make this drive. And it's more than 2,000 miles
- 6:30Speaker 1: of just driving at 86. I mean... Insane.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Absolutely insane.
- 6:37Speaker 1: One thing that does work in Patrick Karn's favor here
- 6:41Speaker 1: is that he is a former truck driver.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that makes sense.
- 6:48Speaker 1: He is a former truck driver, so it seems that
- 6:50Speaker 1: maybe this is not super unusual for him.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Because realistically right now, I'm thinking you and me, let's
- 6:57Speaker 2: go on a drive from Nevada to Ohio. Can we
- 6:59Speaker 2: do it?
- 7:01Speaker 1: I feel like we could do it, but it would be.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It would be really tough.
- 7:05Speaker 1: It would be exhausting. So during his trip back from Nevada,
- 7:13Speaker 1: Patrick was stopped alongside the way... and nothing seemed to
- 7:19Speaker 1: be wrong. What had happened initially, that as he was
- 7:23Speaker 1: already almost back home, he was stopped in Nevada already,
- 7:27Speaker 1: so he made the big long drive back already, he
- 7:33Speaker 1: almost completed it. He did speed by a police officer
- 7:38Speaker 1: on the road, I think we could get into it
- 7:41Speaker 1: in a little bit potentially, and he was asked, questions
- 7:49Speaker 1: why did he speed i think he it was the
- 7:52Speaker 1: night time it was dark and he explained to the
- 7:55Speaker 1: officer i believe that he was following another truck because
- 7:59Speaker 1: that truck was leading him to a city called elko
- 8:04Speaker 1: which is on the way to reno we're going to
- 8:06Speaker 1: be getting into all of this in a little bit
- 8:09Speaker 1: essentially the police officer said that um patrick was seemed
- 8:15Speaker 1: okay and he let him go with just a warning.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Now the funny, or what am I saying? Definitely not
- 8:23Speaker 1: the funny, absolutely nothing funny about it. But what Patrick
- 8:27Speaker 1: said to the police officer was very interesting. As he
- 8:31Speaker 1: was leaving the police officer, he told him that he
- 8:35Speaker 1: will never drive again at night. And that would be
- 8:38Speaker 1: very bizarre because it seems that something happened to Patrick
- 8:43Speaker 1: later on on that same night. And, um, It doesn't
- 8:48Speaker 1: look like Patrick Carnes is alive anymore, to be honest.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Just by thinking about his age and the fact that
- 8:55Speaker 1: he has been missing for 15 years, it doesn't seem
- 8:59Speaker 1: that he is alive anymore.
- 9:00Speaker 2: By that statement alone, do you think there's a possibility
- 9:03Speaker 2: that he said it just in a simple way of,
- 9:07Speaker 2: my eyes are terrible at nighttime, I couldn't see much?
- 9:11Speaker 1: I don't blame him, though. I think you're right. And
- 9:14Speaker 1: I will also comment from my perspective. Driving at night,
- 9:17Speaker 1: if the highway is not well lit, it's dangerous.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's scary.
- 9:23Speaker 1: It's scary and it's dangerous at any age. Let alone
- 9:28Speaker 1: a senior citizen like Patrick.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I wonder if those roads in America, like the one
- 9:34Speaker 2: that would take you from, I don't know, LA to
- 9:36Speaker 2: New York. I wonder if all of them, like the
- 9:39Speaker 2: whole road would be lit up. I don't know. Don't
- 9:42Speaker 2: think so, right?
- 9:43Speaker 1: I have no idea. You have to take into account
- 9:45Speaker 1: that this, you know, different states, most likely different funding structures. Yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So who knows how unified those interstate highways are. I
- 9:59Speaker 1: think one of... some of our listeners could probably chime in.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I think most of our listeners are from the United States.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Maybe they know better than us.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've seen some movies, right? And we've seen
- 10:11Speaker 2: on TV and the media. Some of them just feel
- 10:15Speaker 2: like a road... In some desert or in some field
- 10:19Speaker 2: and there's nothing there.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Right? So it seems that Patrick, where we will
- 10:27Speaker 1: find out his car was found, is actually on one
- 10:30Speaker 1: of those desolate roads. Absolutely. Absolutely. So the following morning
- 10:38Speaker 1: after the police officer, you know, police officer let him
- 10:41Speaker 1: go with a warning at, I believe, 9 p.m. on
- 10:44Speaker 1: the 13th of April, 2011. The following morning at around
- 10:49Speaker 1: 6 a.m. on the April 14th, Patrick's car was actually
- 10:54Speaker 1: found abandoned in a field off Interstate 80, which was
- 10:58Speaker 1: still 200 miles away from his Reno apartment. So, you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: Less than, I would say, 10 hours later or something
- 11:07Speaker 1: like that, his car was already found abandoned, essentially, off
- 11:12Speaker 1: a highway. It is very bizarre. Now, when police came
- 11:17Speaker 1: and investigated the vehicle, Patrick and his dog, Lucky, were
- 11:21Speaker 1: nowhere to be found. Items that Patrick brought with him
- 11:28Speaker 1: to the trip to Ohio seemed to be left behind.
- 11:33Speaker 1: There was a little bit of a confusion whether or
- 11:35Speaker 1: not his wallet was gone or missing. I've seen different
- 11:38Speaker 1: types of explanations. However, when they investigated the scene, they
- 11:45Speaker 1: did not find any evidence of foul play. I believe
- 11:49Speaker 1: they found one pair of footprints leading away from the car,
- 11:58Speaker 1: but not Patrick or Lucky's. They were never found.
- 12:05Speaker 2: So I'm assuming that the car was found on the
- 12:09Speaker 2: side of the road and not far away from the road.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Or was it off?
- 12:15Speaker 1: Actually, I was able to pinpoint the exact sort of
- 12:18Speaker 1: location on Google Maps where it was. I think we're
- 12:22Speaker 1: going to get into it in a little bit. Let's
- 12:24Speaker 1: not jump ahead. But I will say that it was...
- 12:29Speaker 1: a little bit off the highway like it was not immediately.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Like on the side of the road you see it immediately.
- 12:35Speaker 1: No there is this uh exit exit 205 it's basically
- 12:41Speaker 1: you know how there's a highway and along the highway
- 12:43Speaker 1: there are like road there are like towns and there's
- 12:46Speaker 1: like an exit off of the highway so it was
- 12:49Speaker 1: basically parked on an exit so as you exit the
- 12:55Speaker 1: main interstate highway There's a little road, a little dirt road,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and this is where his car was found. It also
- 13:03Speaker 1: seems that his car was stuck in some sort of
- 13:06Speaker 1: a brush. We're going to be getting into that in
- 13:10Speaker 1: a little bit, but essentially this is the background of
- 13:14Speaker 1: the case. We have an 86-year-old man who has been
- 13:20Speaker 1: doing this really long drive to the point where you
- 13:24Speaker 1: would even have to ask yourself, is it even smart
- 13:27Speaker 1: for this man to be doing this?
- 13:29Speaker 2: And why? Do we have any reason why?
- 13:31Speaker 1: So he was driving to see his family in Ohio. Okay.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Because he was looking around for retirement homes in Ohio
- 13:39Speaker 1: to be closer to his family.
- 13:41Speaker 2: That makes a lot of sense. But why was he
- 13:42Speaker 2: living so far away from them?
- 13:44Speaker 1: I think let's jump into it. We have some information
- 13:47Speaker 1: on his background. So Patrick Francis Maloney Carnes, he was
- 13:52Speaker 1: born in On January 30th, back in 1925. 1925, dude.
- 13:57Speaker 1: That's so crazy. That is bizarre that, you know, someone
- 14:05Speaker 1: could have been alive back then and in 2011. And
- 14:10Speaker 1: potentially even now, but highly unlikely.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It's gotta be your grandma.
- 14:15Speaker 1: No. My grandma is actually... She wasn't born nowhere near...
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think she was born during World War II, which
- 14:27Speaker 1: is way later than Patrick Carnes. Patrick Carnes served in
- 14:31Speaker 1: World War II. He actually was an aviation radio man
- 14:37Speaker 1: in the Navy. He was honorably discharged. I've seen another
- 14:41Speaker 1: source comment that he was also a Korean War veteran.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's insane.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Korean War happened essentially... right after World War II,
- 14:54Speaker 1: more or less. But I didn't really find much information
- 14:58Speaker 1: about his time in the military, and I can't really
- 15:02Speaker 1: confirm if he was actually served in Korean War. But
- 15:06Speaker 1: it was stated widely, I think, that he served in
- 15:10Speaker 1: World War II. And we even have an image of
- 15:12Speaker 1: him as he was serving in World War II. He
- 15:17Speaker 1: looks like he's in good shape, you know, athletic young man.
- 15:20Speaker 2: He seemed very young when he served in the military.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Right?
- 15:25Speaker 1: He looks young. He met his future wife, Margaret Haltom,
- 15:32Speaker 1: and got married with her, with Margaret, in 1949. They
- 15:36Speaker 1: had four children together. Patrick For some time, he was
- 15:43Speaker 1: working as a trucker, but later he got himself a
- 15:47Speaker 1: business degree from UCLA. That is the Los Angeles University,
- 15:53Speaker 1: really good public university, one of the best public universities
- 15:57Speaker 1: in America. And then he worked as a system manager
- 16:02Speaker 1: for Rand Corporation. So I had to Google what is
- 16:07Speaker 1: Rand Corporation. Rand Corporation seems to be some sort of
- 16:11Speaker 1: a think tank, non-profit organization. I think they maybe advise
- 16:17Speaker 1: on government policy, but I could be wrong here. So
- 16:20Speaker 1: he was working for, seemed like, this company for some time.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Patrick was known to be a devoted husband and father
- 16:29Speaker 1: to his children. He was said to be a loving
- 16:33Speaker 1: and intelligent person, and he enjoyed traveling. After he retired,
- 16:39Speaker 1: him and Margaret moved across the country to Reno, Nevada.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So I assume that initially he was living in Ohio,
- 16:46Speaker 1: but then after he retired, he moved to Reno, Nevada.
- 16:52Speaker 1: And unfortunately, his wife, Margaret, passed away in 2004. So
- 16:56Speaker 1: this ended the marriage that lasted 55 years. It's a
- 17:05Speaker 1: very long marriage. So obviously, Patrick, you know, his life
- 17:09Speaker 1: changed forever because he was used to living with, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 1: one person for more than half a century. So now
- 17:17Speaker 1: he has to, you know, kind of, you know, have
- 17:21Speaker 1: some sort of companionship. So he's all alone. He's in Reno, Nevada.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I believe his family is in Ohio. Obviously, it's tough.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So he adopted a Labrador Akita mix dog, which was Lucky.
- 17:36Speaker 1: And Lucky became his best friend and constant companion. So
- 17:40Speaker 1: we do have an image of Lucky. I don't know
- 17:43Speaker 1: why it's not loading, to be honest, on my file.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Is it loading on your phone? Lucky's picture?
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yes, and I could explain what he looks like. Very adorable.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Looks like he's slightly overweight. Maybe.
- 17:57Speaker 1: That was also... something funny mentioned about this dog, Lucky.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I think I went on Reddit and I'm pretty sure
- 18:09Speaker 1: I found a great, great nephew of Patrick Harns. His great,
- 18:18Speaker 1: great nephew, I believe, great, great nephew is on Reddit
- 18:25Speaker 1: and kind of chimed in on the case. And he
- 18:30Speaker 1: said that the dog looked like a box shape almost.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I can see that. He said that Patrick loved his
- 18:44Speaker 1: dog so much that it started looking more like a box.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, so for our listeners who couldn't really look at
- 18:52Speaker 2: the pictures, just imagine a brown box with a smaller
- 18:56Speaker 2: head and legs.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Tiny legs, right?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Tiny legs.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but very cute dog.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Adorable.
- 19:04Speaker 1: So in 2011, 86-year-old Patrick Carnes decided to move back
- 19:09Speaker 1: to Ohio to be closer to his family. Himself and
- 19:12Speaker 1: his eight-year-old dog, Lucky, made the cross-country journey to Ohio
- 19:17Speaker 1: in the month of April. Patrick stayed with his family
- 19:21Speaker 1: during the trip and toured multiple retirement homes. We don't
- 19:24Speaker 1: really know a lot of information about what... patrick patrick's
- 19:30Speaker 1: uh visit was like there was nothing bad reported to
- 19:33Speaker 1: be honest about about his time in ohio um the
- 19:37Speaker 1: great great nephew on reddit even said that he remembers
- 19:41Speaker 1: shaking his hand back in 2011 before he left that's
- 19:46Speaker 1: a crazy.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Memory yeah crazy memory to have.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Indeed yeah patrick apparently was still in good health the
- 19:54Speaker 1: only thing that was slowing him down was an old
- 19:57Speaker 1: leg injury which had left him with a limp so
- 20:03Speaker 1: patrick was now heading back home to reno nevada during
- 20:06Speaker 1: the final leg of his journey back to reno He
- 20:09Speaker 1: was actually stopped by a police officer on April 13th,
- 20:14Speaker 1: which was a Wednesday. And this stop happened at 9 p.m.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I already mentioned this a little bit earlier. So this
- 20:24Speaker 1: stop happened just outside of the small town called Wells
- 20:29Speaker 1: in Nevada. Wells is a very small town. I don't
- 20:33Speaker 1: really know if it is connected to this case in
- 20:36Speaker 1: any way because... Patrick's vehicle was actually found the next
- 20:42Speaker 1: morning quite a bit distance away. I know that Wells,
- 20:48Speaker 1: the location where he was stopped, has a population of
- 20:52Speaker 1: around 1,200 back in 2020.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Oh, that's small.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It is a very small town. But Wells, Nevada, I
- 21:01Speaker 1: feel like has a bit of relevancy for us, absolutely,
- 21:04Speaker 1: because we know that This is the last confirmed sighting
- 21:09Speaker 1: of Patrick. He is not known to be anywhere past Wells.
- 21:14Speaker 1: We know his car was found some distance away on
- 21:18Speaker 1: that highway, way past Wells and some other towns. But Wells,
- 21:22Speaker 1: Nevada is the last place where anyone has confirmation about
- 21:28Speaker 1: Patrick's whereabouts. So why was he stopped on Saturday? Interstate
- 21:34Speaker 1: 80 by police. Well, apparently a police officer had actually
- 21:39Speaker 1: stopped another semi-truck on the road. Not sure why. But
- 21:45Speaker 1: as he was conducting the stop, Patrick sped past. Not
- 21:52Speaker 1: necessarily sped past, but drove past in a dangerous way.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So it was faster than the speed limit.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I don't think it was maybe faster, but I think
- 22:04Speaker 1: it was too close.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Oh.
- 22:07Speaker 1: It was, if I understand correctly, Patrick drove past the
- 22:12Speaker 1: police officer. He was too close to the police officer.
- 22:16Speaker 2: But then again, he was 86 and has been driving
- 22:18Speaker 2: for how long was he driving?
- 22:21Speaker 1: Well, I believe for a very long time.
- 22:23Speaker 2: For a very long time, right? I mean, I could
- 22:25Speaker 2: understand how he would do such a mistake.
- 22:29Speaker 1: So it was dark. obviously.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And it was dark. Yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 1: So what happened next is that we even have dash
- 22:37Speaker 1: cam footage. I've seen it. It's basically the dash cam
- 22:43Speaker 1: of the police car. So if you could imagine, there's
- 22:47Speaker 1: a police car. Right in front of the police car
- 22:50Speaker 1: is a semi-truck, which has been already stopped by the
- 22:54Speaker 1: police officer. And you could imagine that the police car
- 23:00Speaker 1: A police car has a cam, so it's taping the
- 23:04Speaker 1: back of this semi-truck that is stopped. A little bit
- 23:08Speaker 1: to the left, there is visuals of the highway, and
- 23:13Speaker 1: you could just see Patrick's car drive past the police officer.
- 23:19Speaker 2: But way too close.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Way too close, and you could see the police officer
- 23:25Speaker 1: kind of run back to his car and start chasing...
- 23:30Speaker 1: So then we have some images from the cam of
- 23:35Speaker 1: the police car as he is chasing Patrick. He's not
- 23:39Speaker 1: really chasing Patrick. He's just kind of like, you know,
- 23:41Speaker 1: approaching him and ordering him to stop. So that's what
- 23:46Speaker 1: has taken place. When police questioned Patrick. So when police
- 23:53Speaker 1: officers questioned Patrick, well, there was, I believe, only one officer.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Patrick told the officer something interesting. He said that he
- 24:03Speaker 1: was actually following a semi-truck which was driving ahead of him.
- 24:08Speaker 2: But it wasn't the semi-truck that was already stopped by
- 24:11Speaker 2: the police.
- 24:11Speaker 1: No, this was a separate.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Completely different one.
- 24:13Speaker 1: This was a completely different semi-truck. And the explanation was
- 24:18Speaker 1: that this semi-truck was heading to Elko. Elko is another
- 24:23Speaker 1: town and it is alongside the highway... i-80 and it
- 24:31Speaker 1: is on the way to reno elko is around 49
- 24:38Speaker 1: miles away from wells so we don't have any explanation
- 24:46Speaker 1: how patrick knew that this particular truck was gonna go
- 24:51Speaker 1: to elko it's open for speculation this particular detail some
- 24:56Speaker 1: people are saying that maybe Patrick, a former truck driver,
- 25:01Speaker 1: had already, you know, met up with this person, with
- 25:03Speaker 1: this truck driver somewhere in a truck stop.
- 25:06Speaker 2: It could be. I could see that happening.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that they just kind of like talked and he
- 25:11Speaker 1: explained that, you know, he's going to Elko and that
- 25:16Speaker 1: Patrick was following him. He also explained to the officer
- 25:21Speaker 1: that he intended to stay the night in Elko and
- 25:27Speaker 1: before making the final drive back to reno makes sense
- 25:34Speaker 1: because from wells to reno i believe it was still
- 25:38Speaker 1: a pretty long distance left to get to back.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Home i wonder why he chose to drive and not
- 25:48Speaker 2: to fly just out of curiosity it feels like i
- 25:53Speaker 2: don't know i would just Take the easier route. And
- 25:56Speaker 2: just fly.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I feel like at. His age. And if he's retired.
- 26:02Speaker 1: He has. Let's see. Less activities. For me personally.
- 26:06Speaker 2: It could be a great adventure.
- 26:07Speaker 1: For me. It's absolutely. Way more. If I'm retired. I
- 26:12Speaker 1: don't have to do a job.
- 26:14Speaker 2: You know.
- 26:14Speaker 1: I have a lot of time. I'm definitely driving.
- 26:17Speaker 2: You think so?
- 26:18Speaker 1: I think I'm driving. With my dog. Yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 2: That's a. Nice little road trip. I would say so.
- 26:24Speaker 2: It's just. feels a bit too inconvenient it.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Is inconvenient but like inexpensive but i could see how
- 26:31Speaker 1: someone's doing.
- 26:32Speaker 2: It and it's a thing in america right also.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Maybe patrick wasn't really used to flying that much.
- 26:38Speaker 2: True true but it's a thing in america like driving
- 26:42Speaker 2: long distances right yeah i.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Feel like uh in america people are used to driving
- 26:48Speaker 1: longer distances they probably don't even realize that yeah you
- 26:52Speaker 1: know they probably do a Six hour drive like it's nothing.
- 26:57Speaker 1: While for us, six hours is like we're already half
- 27:01Speaker 1: across Poland in some town that we've never seen before.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I still remember when we were driving, when we drove
- 27:09Speaker 2: once to Warsaw, it was like five hours of drive.
- 27:13Speaker 2: And then hour three, I was already so bored.
- 27:16Speaker 1: It wasn't even five hours, I believe.
- 27:18Speaker 2: It wasn't even five hours?
- 27:19Speaker 1: Maybe it was five hours. I don't know. But yeah,
- 27:21Speaker 1: that felt like a long drive. But I feel like
- 27:24Speaker 1: for Americans, this is.
- 27:25Speaker 2: It's nothing. Pathetic.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like they have better road skills, like
- 27:33Speaker 1: long drive skills.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And also, I think their cars are more comfortable.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The bigger ones, right?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like Americans have bigger cars, which are
- 27:45Speaker 1: a lot more comfortable. You know how, like, we here have, like,
- 27:50Speaker 1: smaller cars?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 27:52Speaker 1: More compact it really is like.
- 27:53Speaker 2: A just for a point a point b in the city.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Yeah but it's i feel like yeah because actually when
- 28:00Speaker 1: you sit.
- 28:01Speaker 2: In a big car it's uh it's easier it.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Feels like you could drive longer it's more like uh
- 28:08Speaker 1: it's more like you're you're driving on like in a
- 28:10Speaker 1: couch it's very nice so i feel like yeah that's
- 28:13Speaker 1: one way to put it yeah i feel like uh
- 28:16Speaker 1: so you know.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Okay when we go to america we need to rent
- 28:18Speaker 2: the car Like a big pickup truck. Yeah, or like,
- 28:22Speaker 2: do you know what it feels like?
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah, to do that cross-country, maybe one day. So going
- 28:28Speaker 1: back now to the case, after, it is, sorry, it
- 28:34Speaker 1: is not known how exactly Patrick knew that the driver
- 28:38Speaker 1: was heading to Elko. Once again, I've mentioned earlier that
- 28:41Speaker 1: it's possible that Patrick had spoken to the driver, maybe
- 28:45Speaker 1: during a break at a rest stop, The driver was
- 28:49Speaker 1: never identified or came forward. And this is a very
- 28:52Speaker 1: important thing because, you know, the driver of this semi-truck which...
- 29:00Speaker 1: Stopped at Elko. Stopped at Elko, allegedly. That driver never
- 29:08Speaker 1: came forward, but I've read somewhere that... police actually made
- 29:15Speaker 1: the public appeal for this driver to actually come forward.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So it's either that the driver, well, I think I
- 29:24Speaker 1: can see three possibilities here. In my opinion, the first
- 29:28Speaker 1: possibility would be that Patrick actually never was following anyone.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Second possibility is that the truck driver was real and
- 29:38Speaker 1: he was being followed. by Patrick, but he sort of
- 29:43Speaker 1: didn't see Patrick in Elko anymore and just forgot about
- 29:48Speaker 1: it and never knew about the case that Patrick went
- 29:51Speaker 1: missing because he has truck driving business to do and
- 29:55Speaker 1: he doesn't have time to think about.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Or he probably was already so far away. By that time, no?
- 30:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it could be that he just didn't care. Or
- 30:04Speaker 1: this driver, possibility number three, is actively avoiding coming forward.
- 30:11Speaker 2: For what reason?
- 30:12Speaker 1: So this would be some sort of probably shady reason
- 30:17Speaker 1: because I can't imagine why you would not come out.
- 30:22Speaker 2: But I also can't imagine robbing an 85-year-old guy all
- 30:27Speaker 2: alone with his dog. And I also can't imagine... Doing
- 30:31Speaker 2: shady things... With the guy... The 85 year old guy... Yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I also feel like... Maybe... This... Scenario number 3... Is...
- 30:45Speaker 1: The least likely... I think... The more likely... To me...
- 30:51Speaker 1: My gut feeling is telling me that... Like... My... Like... Maybe.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Patrick was actually following the guy to Elko, but just
- 31:05Speaker 1: the guy saw that Patrick is, you know, that he
- 31:11Speaker 1: kind of stopped following him at some point, and he
- 31:19Speaker 1: just kind of drove away and didn't think much of
- 31:21Speaker 1: it and never knew about Patrick's case.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I could see that happening. Also, my concern is, what
- 31:28Speaker 2: if there was never a truck in the first place?
- 31:31Speaker 1: There was a truck.
- 31:31Speaker 2: There was a truck?
- 31:32Speaker 1: We know there was a truck. Okay, good. This is
- 31:34Speaker 1: actually very good. This is a very good point that
- 31:39Speaker 1: you made. If you would open up our case file, yes,
- 31:45Speaker 1: if you would scroll down, there's a truck image.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Okay, so it existed. At one point, I was like,
- 31:51Speaker 2: maybe he was imagining things.
- 31:55Speaker 1: No, we know, I think almost for a fact that
- 31:59Speaker 1: Patrick was not imagining a truck because we, we have
- 32:03Speaker 1: several images. So the image number one that we're looking
- 32:06Speaker 1: at is, um, the pickup truck that drove past as
- 32:13Speaker 1: the police officer had stopped another semi truck. So, um,
- 32:19Speaker 1: To kind of explain it better, let's imagine that the
- 32:22Speaker 1: police officer had parked his car by the side of
- 32:25Speaker 1: the road as he was stopping the unrelated pickup truck,
- 32:29Speaker 1: and his front window dash cam is filming, and there
- 32:37Speaker 1: is a little bit of visuals on the highway itself,
- 32:42Speaker 1: so we do see that this truck passes the police
- 32:47Speaker 1: officer and that other unrelated truck and then after this
- 32:52Speaker 1: truck passes we also see patrick carnes drive past as
- 32:57Speaker 1: well so so police officer stops patrick carnes but this
- 33:02Speaker 1: truck is gone it's kind of driving away.
- 33:05Speaker 2: So i'm assuming that maybe it's just a common thing
- 33:09Speaker 2: i don't know maybe it's a common thing for truckers
- 33:11Speaker 2: to be like okay someone's tailing me like i know
- 33:14Speaker 2: they're tailing me dying stopping i have some cargo to
- 33:18Speaker 2: deliver yeah.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And maybe there's a chance that he saw patrick getting
- 33:26Speaker 1: stopped by police and.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Didn't have time to stop as well.
- 33:30Speaker 1: No he's just okay bye yeah we have image number
- 33:36Speaker 1: two this is actually an image taken of the dash
- 33:38Speaker 1: cam from the police car as the police officer is
- 33:42Speaker 1: chasing down patrick and you could see that there's patrick's
- 33:46Speaker 1: car Yeah, and then in the distance, there's a truck.
- 33:51Speaker 1: So there was a truck and Patrick going together almost.
- 33:55Speaker 2: It's one of the roads with no lights.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. From looking at the dash cam,
- 34:02Speaker 1: there is no lights.
- 34:03Speaker 2: So I could see how Patrick would accidentally, unconsciously drive
- 34:09Speaker 2: too close. Because remember, you drove at nighttime and it
- 34:14Speaker 2: was very tough. It was like at one point you
- 34:16Speaker 2: were even mentioning her just following the line in the
- 34:20Speaker 2: middle of the road. As a guide.
- 34:23Speaker 1: It is tough, yeah. And I can see how Patrick
- 34:30Speaker 1: would make this mistake.
- 34:32Speaker 2: And he's 86. Yeah.
- 34:35Speaker 1: So Patrick also seemed very polite and reasonable during the
- 34:39Speaker 1: conversation with police as he was stopped. And they let
- 34:43Speaker 1: him go with just a warning. And before driving away,
- 34:48Speaker 1: Patrick jokingly told the officer that he would never drive
- 34:51Speaker 1: in the dark again. We know that Patrick actually stopped
- 34:58Speaker 1: at a gas station in Wells before continuing on his journey.
- 35:04Speaker 1: So it does seem to me that even if Patrick
- 35:08Speaker 1: was at some point following this truck, he had already...
- 35:12Speaker 1: decided to ditch that plan obviously because you know after
- 35:15Speaker 1: getting stopped by police i feel like the truck already
- 35:19Speaker 1: made so much distance into the highway that patrick was
- 35:22Speaker 1: you know he already i think abandoned the plan of
- 35:25Speaker 1: following this guy on the highway and we know that
- 35:29Speaker 1: he went to a gas station in wells well he
- 35:32Speaker 1: was already really close to wells so he just had
- 35:34Speaker 1: to pull off the highway go to the gas station
- 35:38Speaker 1: and then he continued on to his journey We don't
- 35:41Speaker 1: know if he ever made it to Elko that night,
- 35:44Speaker 1: because apparently there were traffic cameras that could have confirmed this,
- 35:49Speaker 1: but unfortunately they weren't working. So many times we have
- 35:53Speaker 1: non-working security footage, which is quite unfortunate.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Very unfortunate, I agree.
- 36:02Speaker 1: And the next morning came around at around 6 a.m.
- 36:06Speaker 1: This was already April 14th, the following morning, right? And
- 36:10Speaker 1: Patrick's green 2005 Subaru Forester was found stuck in some
- 36:21Speaker 1: sagebrush in a field off I-80. So this particular location...
- 36:30Speaker 1: Was close to a town that I'm probably gonna butcher,
- 36:34Speaker 1: but I'm gonna go for it. A town called Vinimaca. Vinimaca. Vinimaca. Probably.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I feel like so, yeah.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But it could be like this.
- 36:48Speaker 2: It could be like that.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I may have not butchered it.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Or you could have butchered it if you did. We're
- 36:53Speaker 2: so sorry.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:55Speaker 1: This town is actually located past Elko. It is actually
- 37:04Speaker 1: 174 miles away from Wales towards the direction of Reno.
- 37:10Speaker 1: So to put this into kilometer perspective, that's around 280
- 37:16Speaker 1: kilometers past. So kind of to give you a better reference,
- 37:21Speaker 1: this is literally almost across entirety of Lithuania. How small
- 37:28Speaker 1: is our country, dude? That's the whole, that's all we
- 37:31Speaker 1: got here.
- 37:32Speaker 2: That's it?
- 37:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 1: But it is a far distance for this man to make.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Because let's remember, he was trying to go to, he was,
- 37:43Speaker 1: he told police the evening before that he was going
- 37:47Speaker 1: to Elko. And his plan is to spend the night
- 37:50Speaker 1: in Elko before continuing on his journey. Elko is 50
- 37:54Speaker 1: miles away. That's reasonable. This location where his car was
- 37:58Speaker 1: found is 174 miles away. So for some reason, if
- 38:06Speaker 1: Patrick was the one driving his car, he decided to
- 38:11Speaker 1: drive past Elko and then proceeded for another 124 kilometers
- 38:16Speaker 1: in the westward direction towards Reno and his car. car
- 38:25Speaker 1: unexplainably was parked kind of maybe stuck potentially we also
- 38:33Speaker 1: don't know the specifics in some sagebrush alongside the i-80
- 38:39Speaker 1: highway um what's with the.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Change of heart well i wonder maybe maybe there's like
- 38:50Speaker 2: a closer i don't know truck stop somewhere around And
- 38:56Speaker 2: that's why he decided not to go to Elko?
- 38:59Speaker 1: Well, I don't know if that makes sense because he
- 39:02Speaker 1: already drove past Elko. Oh, yeah. How would that make sense?
- 39:07Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Sorry, sorry. I got confused. So he already
- 39:10Speaker 2: was past Elko.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Way past Elko. Way past Elko.
- 39:13Speaker 2: He did not stop at Elko.
- 39:16Speaker 1: We don't know. Maybe he did.
- 39:19Speaker 2: But he said he's going to spend the night there
- 39:21Speaker 2: and just drive in the morning, no?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what he told the police officer.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Is there any town or a city... that was close
- 39:30Speaker 2: to where he was found?
- 39:31Speaker 1: You mean where his car was found?
- 39:34Speaker 2: Where his car was found, yeah.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Sorry. No, because even if you look at... I took
- 39:42Speaker 1: some screenshots. Well, there are also like smaller locations.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 39:47Speaker 1: But I think the next biggest town, if I'm not
- 39:51Speaker 1: mistaken here, from Elko would be Vinimaka, okay?
- 39:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just so odd that it was already dark,
- 40:00Speaker 2: and instead of, like, staying in Elko, like, what his
- 40:05Speaker 2: plan was, he just decided to go past it for
- 40:09Speaker 2: some odd reason.
- 40:12Speaker 1: It seems this way. Right?
- 40:14Speaker 2: Or potentially he found some sort of energy to keep going,
- 40:18Speaker 2: but it doesn't make sense, no?
- 40:24Speaker 1: I mean... We don't know what went down. We don't
- 40:29Speaker 1: know what.
- 40:30Speaker 2: The thought process was.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yeah. So I can't say if it made sense or not.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I'm just wondering if.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I was thinking maybe... One thought that jumps to my
- 40:41Speaker 1: mind is that is it a chance that he does
- 40:45Speaker 1: go to Elko but he can't find accommodation?
- 40:48Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Even though I think he could have just slept in
- 40:52Speaker 1: his car. But maybe he just really wanted a bed
- 40:59Speaker 1: and couldn't get it.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Could be. Could be. So he just decided to go
- 41:06Speaker 2: back down the road. Yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 1: His vehicle was parked off an exit ramp in Pumpernickel Valley.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Love the name.
- 41:21Speaker 1: It would have taken around 2 hours and 30 minutes
- 41:25Speaker 1: to get to this location from the police.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, sorry, really quickly. I can see the road now,
- 41:32Speaker 2: it's one of those with no lights at all.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yes, exactly. Very good point. It has no lights at all.
- 41:43Speaker 1: So it would have taken him two and a half
- 41:45Speaker 1: hours to get from where the police officer stopped him
- 41:50Speaker 1: to where his car was found. On top of that,
- 41:54Speaker 1: it would have taken another two hours from there to
- 41:58Speaker 1: get to Reno. So maybe there is even some logic
- 42:03Speaker 1: behind that. Or like there's a line of thinking for
- 42:07Speaker 1: us that maybe Patrick actually decided, potentially, and we can't
- 42:14Speaker 1: verify this, potentially decided to drive the full distance to
- 42:20Speaker 1: Reno because at the point where his car was found,
- 42:25Speaker 1: if there's no shady foul play taking place, He would
- 42:31Speaker 1: have already made more than halfway the distance that was
- 42:36Speaker 1: left from Wells to Reno. There was, I think, four
- 42:40Speaker 1: and a half hours of driving. His car was already
- 42:42Speaker 1: found two and a half hours of driving away from Wells.
- 42:46Speaker 1: He only had two hours left to Reno. Maybe at
- 42:49Speaker 1: this point.
- 42:50Speaker 2: He was like, screw it. Let's finish everything.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Maybe there is a thought process that he tries... to
- 42:59Speaker 1: finish the whole thing now look at the pictures this
- 43:03Speaker 1: is very good that we have we have exact vehicle
- 43:07Speaker 1: pictures um do you see the the picture of his
- 43:11Speaker 1: car yeah it's.
- 43:14Speaker 2: An it's in an odd position it.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Is a very odd position it looks like it's kind
- 43:21Speaker 1: of slouched on the on the how should.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I It's kind of like a hill, a little bit
- 43:28Speaker 2: of a hill.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bit sideways on a hill, if that
- 43:31Speaker 1: makes some sense. So look at the distance of the images.
- 43:37Speaker 1: You see there is this ramp up in the distance.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I can see it.
- 43:45Speaker 1: This is the highway that he was driving on. So
- 43:48Speaker 1: for some reason, his car is now off of that highway.
- 43:52Speaker 1: This is a very good picture that we have of
- 43:55Speaker 1: his car because we can gauge the distance. And I'm
- 43:57Speaker 1: going to be adding this in the YouTube channel, obviously,
- 44:00Speaker 1: as always, these images. We could gauge the distance. We
- 44:05Speaker 1: could gauge the distance between Patrick's car and the highway.
- 44:11Speaker 1: So it seems like it's a little bit off, but
- 44:14Speaker 1: it's not that far. It's absolutely walking distance to the highway.
- 44:20Speaker 1: And it is a very, you know what this picture
- 44:25Speaker 1: kind of gives me a little bit of goosebumps. Immediately,
- 44:31Speaker 1: you know what this picture gives me? The vibe, the feeling.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I'm getting the same feeling right now as with, Brianna
- 44:40Speaker 1: Maitland's case.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Oh, I can see it.
- 44:44Speaker 1: You remember Brianna's case?
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yeah, the way her car was parked. It's like in
- 44:48Speaker 2: a sort of careless manner.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Like something happened. So I have the same strange feeling
- 44:55Speaker 1: with Patrick Karn's case as I did with Brianna Maitland.
- 44:59Speaker 2: It seems like it was kind of driven off the road.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so what happened here? So when they looked at
- 45:06Speaker 1: the car, apparently the car was still fully operational. And
- 45:10Speaker 1: it had most, I think even maybe all of Patrick's
- 45:14Speaker 1: belongings that he had taken with him on this trip.
- 45:18Speaker 1: There is a little bit of confusion online whether or
- 45:22Speaker 1: not Patrick's wallet was still in the car or was
- 45:26Speaker 1: it missing. I couldn't really confirm that particular detail. So
- 45:30Speaker 1: that's something we have to take into account. I feel
- 45:34Speaker 1: like people are leaning towards that, at least when you
- 45:37Speaker 1: read about it, that the wallet and the money was
- 45:41Speaker 1: still there. And why I'm even bringing this up is
- 45:45Speaker 1: because this is actually very crucial, in my opinion. If
- 45:50Speaker 1: his wallet and money is in the car, then we
- 45:53Speaker 1: could maybe even rule out burglary. Yeah, it seems so. So, yeah,
- 46:02Speaker 1: we have another side view picture of his car. I'm
- 46:05Speaker 1: looking at it. It looks like he has some stuff
- 46:07Speaker 1: in the back. Looks like he has.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Could be just his stuff from the whole trip.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Yeah, looks like he has a bunch of stuff in
- 46:15Speaker 1: the back, which is, I think, very normal for this situation.
- 46:21Speaker 1: And then I have a zoomed out map of where
- 46:24Speaker 1: his car was parked. So it's a very desolate area,
- 46:27Speaker 1: but I don't think you would ever get lost in
- 46:32Speaker 1: this particular area because it's so close to the main highway.
- 46:35Speaker 1: You could easily see the main highway. So I don't
- 46:38Speaker 1: see how Patrick Carnes just decides to get lost here.
- 46:44Speaker 1: But there is a theory that I will bring up
- 46:48Speaker 1: to you later on in a little bit because I
- 46:51Speaker 1: don't want to mess up the structure of our podcast
- 46:54Speaker 1: today that could explain potentially how Patrick gets himself in
- 47:00Speaker 1: this predicament and becomes lost. And I feel like it's
- 47:03Speaker 1: a very compelling theory. But that is coming up in
- 47:05Speaker 1: a little bit for us. So what happened was that
- 47:12Speaker 1: another bizarre thing that we have to mention is that, well,
- 47:18Speaker 1: this is what's reported. It is reported that the vehicle
- 47:22Speaker 1: is facing the opposite direction from where Patrick was heading
- 47:26Speaker 1: towards Reno. So, you know, when I first read this
- 47:30Speaker 1: clue that it was in the opposite direction, I immediately
- 47:34Speaker 1: assumed that, you know, it's facing back towards Wells. It's
- 47:39Speaker 1: facing back towards Elko. It's facing the different direction from Reno.
- 47:45Speaker 1: But when you look at the picture of the car,
- 47:47Speaker 1: it doesn't really face the other direction that much, in
- 47:52Speaker 1: my opinion. Because look where it's actually facing. It's facing
- 47:55Speaker 1: literally the road. It's facing the road. I mean, maybe
- 48:00Speaker 1: someone else could explain this better. And I'm going to
- 48:02Speaker 1: be sharing these images on our YouTube channel. But maybe
- 48:06Speaker 1: some of you guys could take a look at these pictures.
- 48:08Speaker 1: How does this explain that it's facing the opposite side
- 48:15Speaker 1: of the road? For me, it just looks like it's
- 48:17Speaker 1: facing nothing. It's facing directly to the highway.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I have a feeling it was there and he parked
- 48:26Speaker 2: it in such a manner that he didn't care and
- 48:30Speaker 2: he would just drive back to whichever direction he's supposed to.
- 48:34Speaker 1: I'm also having a hard time thinking how is he
- 48:37Speaker 1: even Parking it here?
- 48:40Speaker 2: Why?
- 48:42Speaker 1: This is such a weird place to park.
- 48:44Speaker 2: I think I have an idea. Maybe it's too early
- 48:47Speaker 2: to say, but I'm just going to say it really quickly.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Say it.
- 48:49Speaker 2: P-break.
- 48:51Speaker 1: P-break?
- 48:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Maybe something as simple as that.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Okay, you know what? I'm also going to then come
- 48:59Speaker 1: clean with what I was holding off. The great-great-nephew on
- 49:06Speaker 1: Reddit suggested a theory That potentially, well, the way, because,
- 49:12Speaker 1: you know, they talked with family members, and apparently there
- 49:16Speaker 1: or at least this person's conclusion is that maybe lucky
- 49:24Speaker 1: needed a pee.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Break yeah i can see that.
- 49:29Speaker 1: And that lucky ran away.
- 49:32Speaker 2: I could see that yeah.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Lucky ran away from the car Patrick decided to go
- 49:39Speaker 1: after Lucky and things escalated.
- 49:45Speaker 2: I could see that happening because the car was parked
- 49:50Speaker 2: in such a way, it seemed like he didn't care.
- 49:53Speaker 1: It almost could feel to me that maybe there's a
- 50:00Speaker 1: chance that Lucky jumps out through the window. But to
- 50:06Speaker 1: be honest, when you look at Lucky, Lucky doesn't look
- 50:08Speaker 1: like he's doing a lot of jumping.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Okay. But he's, you mentioned he's a Labrador Akita mix, right? Yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 2: And as far as I know, I could be wrong
- 50:19Speaker 2: if our listeners say, think otherwise, you could just let
- 50:23Speaker 2: us know. But as far as I know, those breeds
- 50:25Speaker 2: are hunter breeds, meaning that if they see a squirrel
- 50:29Speaker 2: or anything, they would chase it.
- 50:32Speaker 1: So they're more like active.
- 50:34Speaker 2: They're more active.
- 50:34Speaker 1: So, uh, I would say a slightly overweight eight-year-old Akita
- 50:43Speaker 1: mix would be able to do this.
- 50:46Speaker 2: I don't think... I mean, from the picture, it looks
- 50:50Speaker 2: so boxy. I'm not sure if we could just smoothly
- 50:54Speaker 2: jump out of a moving car.
- 50:56Speaker 1: But maybe somehow this plays out.
- 50:59Speaker 2: I could imagine Lucky needing to do number one or
- 51:03Speaker 2: number two and then Okay. And then.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Jumping out.
- 51:08Speaker 2: No, not jumping out. They were panicking because, you know,
- 51:11Speaker 2: he might do it inside the car. And then once
- 51:15Speaker 2: the dog was relieved, probably saw something from somewhere and
- 51:19Speaker 2: started chasing it. And Patrick could have chased after him.
- 51:23Speaker 1: That's a good point. My only concern is with the
- 51:26Speaker 1: way the car is parked. To me, it feels a
- 51:28Speaker 1: bit unnatural.
- 51:33Speaker 2: It is unnatural. It feels like it's haphazardly done.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Absolutely. So this is my only concern. So when they
- 51:46Speaker 1: looked closer, they found a single set of footprints leading
- 51:50Speaker 1: away from the Subaru. However, it was never determined if
- 51:54Speaker 1: these footprints actually belonged to Patrick.
- 51:58Speaker 2: I would like to think it's actually Patrick's footprints, because
- 52:01Speaker 2: if it's not, then... It's a whole different story.
- 52:04Speaker 1: You know, they never mentioned a pair of dog footprints.
- 52:11Speaker 2: That's true. I guess if the road is dry enough,
- 52:15Speaker 2: then you wouldn't see it because they're not as heavy
- 52:19Speaker 2: as us.
- 52:19Speaker 1: So I think there could be two possibilities in my
- 52:22Speaker 1: head immediately. Possibility number one would be that maybe Patrick
- 52:26Speaker 1: is carrying Lucky for some reason. Possibility number two is
- 52:32Speaker 1: that Patrick and Lucky are already not in the car
- 52:36Speaker 1: and someone else is driving it. While Patrick and Lucky
- 52:40Speaker 1: are potentially encountered foul play, potentially in Elko.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yeah, could be.
- 52:53Speaker 1: That's also something to consider in my opinion. There were
- 52:57Speaker 1: no signs of a struggle at the car, and it
- 53:00Speaker 1: had gas and was still fully operational. However, it was
- 53:04Speaker 1: mentioned that it was stuck in a sagebrush, so I
- 53:07Speaker 1: can't really understand whether or not it was easy to
- 53:10Speaker 1: drive this car out or not. Multiple sources state that
- 53:15Speaker 1: all of Patrick's belongings were still in the car. However,
- 53:18Speaker 1: other sources contradict this and state that his wallet was
- 53:21Speaker 1: actually missing. I was thinking it would make sense for
- 53:24Speaker 1: his wallet to be missing because Maybe he kept it
- 53:28Speaker 1: in his pocket, and if he's missing, then obviously the
- 53:31Speaker 1: wallet in the pocket is also going to be missing.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Patrick did not use credit cards, and he primarily paid
- 53:41Speaker 1: by cash. It is not known how much cash he
- 53:44Speaker 1: would have had on him, but the great-great-nephew on Reddit
- 53:49Speaker 1: suggested that he was actually known to have large sums
- 53:53Speaker 1: of cash on him. So I think maybe having large,
- 53:57Speaker 1: I think I heard this somewhere that having large cash,
- 54:01Speaker 1: sums of cash is like a truck driver thing. Someone
- 54:05Speaker 1: from our audience, please confirm this or not. Like, is
- 54:08Speaker 1: it a real thing to have a lot of cash
- 54:11Speaker 1: as a truck driver?
- 54:12Speaker 2: I could see why though. Yeah. Because maybe back in
- 54:16Speaker 2: the day and even now, they would go into these
- 54:19Speaker 2: little towns and little places as a truck stop and
- 54:22Speaker 2: they wouldn't accept cards.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think maybe they have to pay a
- 54:26Speaker 1: lot of toll fees, things like that. When they realized
- 54:32Speaker 1: that the vehicle was abandoned and it belonged to Patrick
- 54:36Speaker 1: when they ran the license plate, they tried to contact
- 54:39Speaker 1: him at his apartment because this is, once again, contradiction
- 54:43Speaker 1: time here because I've read somewhere that he doesn't have
- 54:46Speaker 1: a cell phone. Right. other source mentioned that he did
- 54:50Speaker 1: have a cell phone. So we don't really know what happened,
- 54:52Speaker 1: but I believe that the investigators actually contacted, tried to
- 54:56Speaker 1: actually contact him in his Reno apartment, but he did
- 54:59Speaker 1: not answer. So at this point, the family started to
- 55:03Speaker 1: worry about Patrick because Patrick would usually let them know
- 55:06Speaker 1: that he is back from this long trip. You know,
- 55:09Speaker 1: he would maybe make a phone call back home when
- 55:11Speaker 1: he's all good. Two of his son's went to Reno, Nevada,
- 55:17Speaker 1: and they entered his apartment, which was empty. Seems like
- 55:21Speaker 1: he had never made it back. There was no sign
- 55:23Speaker 1: of him or his dog Lucky. Investigators then started searching
- 55:27Speaker 1: the area where Patrick's car was found abandoned, but they
- 55:32Speaker 1: did not find any clues as to what happened to
- 55:34Speaker 1: him or his dog Lucky. Authorities and family did not
- 55:40Speaker 1: think that Patrick could have driven into a desolate field
- 55:45Speaker 1: and simply walked away, especially due to his leg injury. Remember,
- 55:51Speaker 1: he had a leg injury, so it would make long
- 55:54Speaker 1: distances by foot difficult. And apparently no usable fingerprints were
- 56:01Speaker 1: recovered from the car as well.
- 56:06Speaker 2: So it seemed like he actually left the car.
- 56:11Speaker 1: If he left the car. If it was him driving
- 56:14Speaker 1: to that location.
- 56:15Speaker 2: But there were no other fingerprints, right?
- 56:19Speaker 1: No other usable fingerprints.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Not sure.
- 56:22Speaker 2: What does that mean?
- 56:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Curtis Cole, Humboldt County undersheriff, I believe it was
- 56:30Speaker 1: the undersheriff that was serving the area. He said that
- 56:35Speaker 1: They had received an eyewitness account from a trucker who
- 56:42Speaker 1: had seen an old man with a dog. We don't
- 56:46Speaker 1: know anything more about the sighting, but some trucker had
- 56:49Speaker 1: seen an old man with a dog and reported them missing.
- 56:52Speaker 1: I feel like, to me, it seems like this has
- 56:56Speaker 1: to be potentially Patrick. Like, how many old men with
- 57:03Speaker 1: dogs would be there on that scene? on that road.
- 57:06Speaker 2: I agree.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Additionally, there was another witness who reported seeing a dog
- 57:13Speaker 1: that matched Lucky's description. However, the dog was alone near
- 57:18Speaker 1: the same exit where Patrick's car was found. And this
- 57:22Speaker 1: particular sighting happened a few days after Patrick's car was found.
- 57:29Speaker 1: So someone saw a dog. And I'm also thinking, Would
- 57:34Speaker 1: there be random dogs there?
- 57:39Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 57:40Speaker 1: That would match the description of Lucky?
- 57:43Speaker 2: And Lucky is, I would say, a very distinguishable dog. Like,
- 57:48Speaker 2: if you see it and you see a picture, you
- 57:51Speaker 2: could immediately say, yeah, that's a dog.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Yeah, so, you know, usually when we have sightings in cases,
- 57:58Speaker 1: it's usually I'm already thinking, man, these are definitely not real.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Always.
- 58:02Speaker 1: I have this... Because, you know, usually sightings do come out.
- 58:06Speaker 1: We only hear stories how sightings come out like incorrect.
- 58:10Speaker 1: But in this case, I feel like these sightings kind
- 58:13Speaker 1: of look credible to me. However, none of them were
- 58:16Speaker 1: confirmed by police. They were not able to confirm them.
- 58:20Speaker 2: What are the chances that there was an old guy
- 58:23Speaker 2: with a dog and then a dog kind of matches
- 58:25Speaker 2: Lucky's description in such a desolate rural area?
- 58:31Speaker 1: I mean, it has to be low.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Very low.
- 58:34Speaker 1: It has to be.
- 58:35Speaker 3: Low, right?
- 58:36Speaker 2: It's in the middle of nowhere. It's in the road.
- 58:38Speaker 2: It's not as if it's in a town, village, or city.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Absolutely. I'm also thinking the same way. It is very...
- 58:46Speaker 1: It's them, I'm assuming. Yeah.
- 58:48Speaker 2: But then why? They have a working car.
- 58:54Speaker 1: This is so interesting. Maybe the car isn't... Drivable? Maybe.
- 59:01Speaker 1: I don't really know what that means. But.
- 59:03Speaker 2: The police confirmed that it was okay, right?
- 59:05Speaker 1: It was operational and had gas, but they never, you know,
- 59:09Speaker 1: I would love to know. if his car was actually...
- 59:11Speaker 1: If he could have driven his car out. Because I've
- 59:13Speaker 1: seen it mentioned that it was stuck in some sagebrush.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Oh, maybe he was having troubles getting it out?
- 59:24Speaker 1: Yeah, potentially. And maybe he carried... lucky out of the
- 59:28Speaker 1: car potentially.
- 59:29Speaker 2: We don't maybe maybe the sightings were him trying to find.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Some help but then why not you know.
- 59:35Speaker 2: But who helped him there should have been someone helping
- 59:37Speaker 2: him there's a lot of cars in the highway i bet.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Well people passed yeah someone passed maybe maybe there's a
- 59:47Speaker 1: chance that the person who reported the tip to the
- 59:51Speaker 1: police the trucker you know maybe He didn't stop. He
- 59:55Speaker 1: didn't stop for Patrick, yeah. And then he just didn't explain.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: But there must be someone who helped him. If, for example,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: you see an old guy with a dog.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: On the road.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: On the road. It's so easy to just pull over
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: and help the guy, you know?
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Absolutely. This is why this case is very strange to
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: me right now. It's very mysterious. It is mysterious. Like
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: what has taken place, unfortunately.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Maybe he actually also hitchhiked.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: But this is where, yeah, potentially, and then running into
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: like a killer, you know, usually, I don't know, that
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: would be very unfortunate.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: But it would be very contradictory because all of his
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: stuff is back in his car. Why not pick them up?
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: That's another good point that you bring up here. So
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: this is where the case gets very strange and very bizarre.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: This is where things kind of become very bizarre, in
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: my opinion. They become bizarre when we take into account
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: there was another woman who went missing in almost this
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: exact same location. Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I know a little about it.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: So we are now jumping to another case that took place,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: I believe, five years prior, five years before Patrick went missing,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: when 62-year-old Judith Cassida went missing and her car was
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: seen at the same exact exit of that highway. So,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: there's another disappearance case that took place on the same
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: interstate that some think might have a connection to Patrick's disappearance.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: This case is of 62-year-old Judith Cassida, who drove away
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: from her home in Reno. On February 14th, 2006, which
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: was a Tuesday, and she disappeared without an explanation. However,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: before she left home, she had left a note for
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: her husband. In this note, she explains that she was
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: depressed and she was not happy with the marriage. She
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: expresses that she is leaving her husband in this note.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: By the time Judith's husband came across the note, she
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: was already gone. Judith was actually spotted at various points
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: earlier in her journey, including a McDonald's in Lovelock, Nevada.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: But after this, her movements are actually unknown. Three weeks later,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: her white Mazda pickup truck was found in almost the
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: exact same spot as Patrick's Subaru. It was found in
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: the same exact exit of I-80. Judith's truck still had
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: gas and was in good working order. There were no
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: obvious signs of foul play, but she was gone and
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: there was only a single set of footprints that led
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: away from the car. Interesting. So this is very interesting.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Because we have a situation, we have a real situation
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: here because I think if you don't look into this case,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: you don't think too much about this case, you might think, okay,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Patrick is an older guy, he gets lost and confused,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: and Judith expresses that she's depressed, she's leaving her husband, maybe,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: you know, self-harm, you know, if you just kind of
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: think about it real quick, but isn't it bizarre that
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: it's the same location? Isn't it strange that, I don't know,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Judith's I guess you could definitely make a case for
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: self-harm in Judith's case because she's doing something, you know,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: like very drastic. But isn't it strange?
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: I mean, I know there are only two people and
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: there's a heck lot more people driving past that road
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: every day. But then again, there were two people in
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: nearly the same area that just vanished. That's very odd.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Maybe something happens when you park there.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Like a serial killer?
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Or natural causes? I don't know. But maybe something is
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: happening in Vinimaka. Vinimaka? Maybe something is happening in Vinimaka.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: Because now Vinimaka is looking interesting.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I think we need to look into it. Maybe there
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: are more cases around the area.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't run into it, but I didn't
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: really search for them either. But Winnemucca, Nevada right now
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: is looking very interesting to me. Something happens in this place.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Winnemucca? I still don't know how it's pronounced.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Something's taking place in that particular area.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Maybe we have someone from Nevada listening. If you are
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: from Nevada and if you have ever ran across this
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: particular area, Can you tell us something more about this case?
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: And can you also tell us how it's actually pronounced?
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: Maybe we should have Googled it.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but we were never good with that. So now
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: this is what the police are saying about the case.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: And I was actually surprised. I was very surprised with
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: the police observation because most of the time in these cases,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: I feel like police really rule it out as a
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: But it seems like in this particular case, they're saying
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: it was not an accident. They are saying that the
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: first thing that police is saying is that there is
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: no evidence connecting these two cases. Investigators actually believe that
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Patrick was actually a victim of foul play. This is
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: where things get interesting because they are saying that, well,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: this is Curtis Cole, homebound. humboldt county undersheriff back in
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: the day maybe even up until now he says okay
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: he says this is his quote my gut tells me
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: there's two people involved just for the logistics just for
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: the ability whether something happened west of wells where he
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: stopped hey old man come on and get up in
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: the cab because you're tired. So I think maybe the
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: undersheriff is suggesting that someone intercepted Patrick. This, to me,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: suggests that police consider a possibility where Patrick was taken
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: somewhere in another vehicle while the other man, you remember
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: the undersheriff saying he thinks two people involved due to logistics,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Undersheriff Legit tells us that he thinks there's a two-man
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: operation here. One of them is controlling Patrick and Lucky.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Another man is taking the green Subaru and leaving it
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: in the same area where Judith Cassid's car was found
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: five years earlier. So if police are legit... considering this
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: as a possibility, are they saying that the same two-man
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: operation could be responsible for Judith's disappearance? I mean, this
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: is something to think about. And I feel like this
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: is a big rabbit hole.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels like it. Man, maybe we should make
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: an episode about Judith.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: I was always under the assumption that Patrick's case is
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: small in terms of what are we... What can we
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: look into?
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: I guess the possibilities of what could have actually happened
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: is bigger than the story itself. Because we're just grasping
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: what actually happened. It could be something as simple as
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: natural causes, or it could be something as scary as
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: there's a serial killer around that area.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: As I was doing my research, I was thinking to myself,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: maybe this is not the last time we're talking about
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: Patrick's case.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: I would hope so, actually, in terms of the way
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: that there were updates. There were updates about them.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: I doubt that there's going to be any updates. But
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: I think maybe we could come back eventually with a
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: different angle to look at. Because I feel like this
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: case just opens up for such a huge deep dive
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: right now. So many things are happening right now.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: To be honest, for example, if Patrick died of natural
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: causes over there, he's just there around the area. will
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: it be hard to find his body? Because it's just
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: so vast, but at the same time, I don't see
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: any trees around.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: And how far could he walk?
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: As an 86-year-old. He seemed like a very strong 86-year-old.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: But he had that leg problem.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but he had the leg problem.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Police also at some point apparently theorized that there could
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: even be a serial killer involved. And in fact, in 2009,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: FBI created the task force to investigate suspected serial killers
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: who work as long haul truck drivers. Believe this.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's scary.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it is believed that this could be a common
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: profession for a serial killer. Several known serial killers have
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: worked as truck drivers. This allows the killer to target
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: victims in multiple different locations and give them the ability
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: to leave the body along the way, complicating the investigation.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Some sources are even suggesting that maybe the truck driver
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: whom Patrick was following could have been responsible for his disappearance.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: This driver has never been identified, and there is a
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: possibility that maybe Patrick and him actually ended up meeting
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: up in Elko sometime later that evening. There was a
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: public appeal for this truck driver to come forward, but
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: no one ever came forward. Now, on the other hand,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Patrick's family don't consider the possibility that Patrick was potentially
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: killed by a hitchhiker they don't think that he would
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: have picked up a hitchhiker and you know that's their
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: thing but I feel like they are still subscribing potentially
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: to the foul play I've seen that family apparently at
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: least at that point said that they think it could
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: be foul play but spinning back to what the police
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: are seeing apparently no person of interest has ever been
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: named in this case And we don't know what happened
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: to Patrick or his dog Lucky and Judith. All of
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: them have went missing in this one interesting stretch of highway.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of it in a hitchhiker perspective
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: wherein he picked up someone. And I'm trying to think
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: if it's actually sensible. All of his stuff are still there.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: If This was a serial killer, psycho, hitchhiker who just
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: killed him and Lucky out of what? Nothing? And left
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: his stuff over there?
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: What do you think? To me, I don't really know
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: what to think.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: He could've stolen some cash. Could've stolen some stuff. Or
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: a sheet.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: So i think uh there are uh there are some
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: really good uh theories out here i feel like the
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: best theory that we had was the to me personally
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: i felt like the best theory that we had for
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: me was the theory provided by the great.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: Great nephew that lucky just did.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: A bathroom break and then at this point patrick you
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: know he was old he he had lucky for maybe
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: a long time it was his whole you know like
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: companionship i think he would have went for it to
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: save lucky i think.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: So until until you mentioned the witnesses.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Statements that they were just walking together.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: They were walking together in the side of the road
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: and when was this any idea Was it the same
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: day that the... Was it on the same day or
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: did they see them like maybe a couple of days?
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Like what was the timeline here?
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: We don't know this. This is a good question. We
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: don't know this.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: Because if it was on the same day that the
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: car was parked, then yeah, it's understandable. If it's like
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: one or two days, then it doesn't make sense.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I agree with that. That is bizarre.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: What were they doing on the side of the road?
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so... I would say that Patrick's case, I would
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: like to come back into it eventually.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: For me, it's a very bizarre case.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Very bizarre.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: And to be honest, I don't know what to make
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: of it. Or Judith's case.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: To be honest, with Patrick's case, I'm leaning more into
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: natural causes. Mainly because sometimes the simple explanations are actually
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: what happened. And I don't think it makes too much
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: sense for someone else to be involved because there were
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: no traces found in the car. Only one, um, footsteps, footprints, right.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: And it could have been easily Patrick's and I just
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: find it more possible for him to have died around
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: that area.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Same. I have the same, uh, I think observation that
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: for me, I would maybe lean towards initially. some sort
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: of a accident but i'm also not discounting foul play
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: at all to the point where i want to jump
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: back into this case eventually to.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: Focus more on the possibility of foul play.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: We have we have ways to further this uh case
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: discussion we have a lot of ways actually i could
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: think immediately things that i that we could still do
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: for this podcast um But unfortunately, I feel like for
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: this one, this is all we have prepared. But I
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: think we could definitely delve deeper into it. Please, guys,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: leave your take on if you would like us to
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: return to Patrick's case and what do you think happened here?
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Maybe the answers are actually more simple than we think.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: I just had a thought. What if they were on
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: the side of the road asking for help and accidentally
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: there was a hit and run and then.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Someone hit their bodies?
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: Someone hit Patrick... and then hid his body, and then
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: that's why someone saw only the dog, only Lucky.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: That's a good possibility. It was dark.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: It was dark.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Or maybe Patrick somehow slipped onto the road or something.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: And you know how sometimes when you drive here, you
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: see people in a rural place wearing a vest, like
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: those that glow in the dark? Yeah. And maybe it
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: was already getting dark, and he wasn't wearing anything, and
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: he was invisible.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Oh, this is actually very good. Very good theory that
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: you just had.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: And someone just panicked and I don't know, maybe.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: This is a very good theory that you just had.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: I never considered this one. Actually, this is a very
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: strong theory because right now in my head, I can't
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: really think of why not.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: And maybe that's also the reason why the body is
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: not around the area anymore.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: He needed some help because his car was stuck. He
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: was with Lucky. He gets hit. Someone moves his body.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Lucky is found the next day. Well, seen.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: Well, seen. And Lucky, the thing is with Lucky, it's
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: just easy for him to roam around the area and
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: just get lost, unfortunately.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: But it's just very bizarre that Patrick was never found.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: So the question is, was he still in that area
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: or was he out?
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: This is a good, this is a very good thing
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: that you just brought up.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I don't know, I just thought about it before when
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: we were already wrapping up.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad you mentioned this one because this is
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: something very good to think about. Well, very bad, but
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: it's interesting to think about. I would say let's wrap
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: it up here. Thank you guys for listening to our podcast.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Please chime in on what you think happened to Patrick
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Carnes or Judith or Lucky. And I think we will
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: be maybe returning to this case eventually.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: I would love to return to this case. It seems
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: like there's a lot of possibilities still that we haven't
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: fully explored.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Absolutely. I agree with you on that. And thank you, Annette,
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: once more for suggesting.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: You're amazing. Thank you so much.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Thank you. And we will talk to you guys on
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: the next episode. Thank you.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: See you very soon.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Be safe.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Bye bye.
